Am I am just being a paranoid new mommy?

Today is the first day that our 9 week old kitten will be alone in the house, we just got her on Saturday. And I am a wreck!!

I am so sad that she is all by herself from 8am to 4pm. Will she be ok alone for that long?

The weather forecast for the day isn't helping much either. We don't have central AC in our house and the weather is calling temps in the 80's with high humidity. We have fans in our house and I have left those running, but I closed up all the windows and pulled all the blinds and drapes in the hopes that it will keep the heat out.

We do have a window AC unit in our bedroom which I left at 75 today and I left the door to that room just open enough for her to sneak in.

Do you think that will be enough? Will she be ok?

Yes, she'll be fine. I usually leave my new baby kitties in one room for a few days but after that, they have free run of the house and have always been OK. Personally, my kitties tend to prefer the room where the AC is not going because it's warmer. You left her a cool room to go to if she needs it, so she'll be fine.

Don't worry, she will be fine!! :) Esp if she has access to the room with A/C. Most likely she will be sleeping all day anyway (kittens sleep about 19 hours per day!!). I had the same worries when my cat was that age, and nothing bad ever happened while she was home alone.

She'll be perfectly! In fact, she will likely enjoy a little alone time -- Cats generally do. ;)

We don't have central air either and have been dealing with temps in the 90s for the last week. Our cats have been just fine -- a little warm, but fine

Chances are, even if he's a kitten, he'll probably sleep when you're gone. It may mean some more intense playtime when you get home but he'll be fine. I would definitely let the kitty have access to the AC.

Definitely, will be fine!! Just think about how kitties LOVE laying in any ray of sunshine they can find! A little warmth will be appreciated! :D

No worries, mama!

I was the same way with my new kittens... she will be ok. Just make sure she can't get into any string or yarn.

Thank you so much ladies for making me feel better! I am SO glad that we left the bedroom open for her with the AC on.

DH and I went through the house last nigh with a fine toothed comb looking for ANY choking hazzard. He gave up after 20 mins but I was at it for an hour. I didn't want anything to harm my little baaaaby!! :o

She'll be fine. Even in the hot summer one of my cats likes to sleep on top of the computer monitor where its nice and warm.

I've lived in an apartment without central a/c with my cats before and I think I was much more miserable in the heat than they were.

You're a very good fur-mommy, and your kitten will be fine.

FYI, cats can't really choke, so you don't need to worry about this.

Thanks again ladies for all of your advice! I got home last night and she was fine. She ran right over to me and rubbed up against my leg and was purring away.

Here's my little Talulah Belle (Lu for short)....

Oh she's totally precious! (and I am not a cat person in any way shape or form!) Wow! Thanks for sharing and glad she's ok!! :D

I definitely consider myself more of a dog person, but the second I saw her I just HAD to have her. She is so precious!! And a great cat as well...she is playful and alert...VERY smart (litter boxed trained the second we got her home)...and she likes to cuddle.
