I have long nails - mine (which I am proud of). I am going for a job interview on Wed. I am wearing a bright mint green shirt, either dress khakis or white pants, and green shoes that match my shirt. ? I can do a french manicure, but I don't like it so much because it pulls so much attraction to my nails. My toes are a light pink/mauveish color to make them less noticable and because my Green shoes pop, I don't need any more 'feet distraction'. I don't like that color on my hands. What color should I do my nails

I think a French manicure would be the best option...but then again, I'm biased - it's all I ever wear! I don't think it would draw too much attention to your hands; in fact, if done well and using the right colors, it should seem so natural as to be not noticed at all.

And congrats on the job interview!! :D

isign - Aren't you an interpreter? I thought sign language interpreters were supposed to minimize attention to their hands with nails and or/jewelry? I'm not second-guessing you – just curious more than anything else.

I was, but due to all the stress/lack of support from the district & $$, DH highly reccommended finding something else, so I am interviewing at a salon to do reception work. You are right about the no jewelry thing. I wear my wedding rings and even though I can wear anything now, I don't because it's such a habit :)

I'm a minimalist with my fingernails. I'd do just a clear coat and a nice file job on them. Or a professional looking buff.

If you want a nice, understated nail color, I like these from OPI:

Malaysian Mist:

They're both rather sheer and give your nails the slight appearance of having a french manicure, without being as dramatic. Hopelessly in Love is a bit pinker than Malaysian Mist.

I wear these on my nails all the time because I don't really like color on them. These give me a polished look (no pun intended) without making my nails the center of attention.

you could also buff them or just use a clear polish

I love OPI. I usually go with, I think it's bubble bath or something like that. Right now they are a dark pink/redish color, but I think I'll go clear or a soft subtle pink

I was going to suggest a soft sheer color. I wear OPI Heart Throb most of the time--it's a very soft sheer pink.

I was going to suggest a soft, barely there color as well.

I think if you are interviewing at a salon, then well manicured hands are a huge bonus. I'd say either french manicure or a discreet pink colour.

I went to Sally's today. They have a brand very similar to OPI and I got the color close to what Sophia bought. I love my nails, and am needing to get them reshaped (thumbs are a bit too square for my liking) but that's not in the budget at the moment. I know DH is going to love me re-doing them tonight, he despises the smell :)

I agree with maplekitty about if you are interviewing at a salon your nails done would seem to me a bonus. As a receptionist you will be probably the first person customers will see and image will be important.

Good luck on the interview.
