Chicago jewelry question

Eep - wasn't sure where to post this, so I did the best I could. :cool:

Does anyone know of any jewelers in Chicago (like on Wabash) that could give me cash for my jewelry? I have a diamond bracelet I would like to sell. I really don't want to deal with the hassle of Ebay, and I'll probably list on craigslist, but I'd really like to walk into a shop and hand over the bracelet for cash. I've heard pawn shops are a rip off (shocking I know! :rolleyes: ) so I don't really want to go that route.

Well, I guess I'm going to try going here (http://www.diamonds-chicago.com/buy_sell_trade_diamonds) and see what they say. I've got a dollar amount in mind I want to sell it for and since I don't *need* to sell it, I'm cool holding out on it.

In addition to Chicago, I would love to hear some general ideas on places that buy jewlery. I have a diamond ring to sell, and it hasn't moved via Craigslist or the newspaper. Do jewlers buy back diamonds? If so, how are their policies and prices?

Mkredhead - that's kind of what spurred my post. I saw a bracelet in-store, and told them I would buy it contingent on selling my existing one. I decided to do something else with the money, but it gave me the impetus to sell the bracelet I have rarely worn. It's not worth much, I'm sure, but it's better than nothing.

Jewelers do buy back diamonds - if this place linked above doesn't want to deal with my paltry bracelet, I'm going to a) try a craigslist and b) go to some small, local, independent jewelers to see if I can sell it for scrap at the very least. I'm also going to check out a local antiques dealer. Just some more ideas I have. :)

I know our jeweler buys back diamonds, and several places will give credit toward "trading up" at the very least - but I've never done it, so I don't know what the prices/policies are.
