Raising child Vegan?

Just wondering what mother's random thoughts are about doing this? Is there anyone who has been successful with implementing this on a child? I have some feelings and a story, but I'm first, just curious about people's experience and/or thoughts about this...

I think that if the family is Vegan and it can be done in a way that is healthy for the child, that there is nothing wrong with it. I guess the family doesn't HAVE to be vegan but it make more sense to me to raise a child in the way that the family is. ykwim?Kinda like keeping kosher or how some families eat lots of fish and other don't touch it.

My cousins had some pretty serious health problems from their vegan diet. Rickets was one of the problems, they are also short and have tiny teeth.

my DH was vegan up until a couple of years ago. Back then, he was adamant about raising our future kids vegetarian, but I was just more practical about it (since I am carnivorous) and basically said "look, I am not dealing with a screaming child bc I won't let it try something on my plate". So that was the end of that. He did however say that he would never try to raise them vegan, just vegetarian, initially as it would require way too much nutritional planning that I was not willing to do. You can try posting this in the vegetarian thread although I don't think there are any other vegans on here.

not vegan here, but we are raising our son and 2nd future child vegetarian. Going vegan for our family was just too challenging. I have some good vegetarian resources if you are interested....
