I just read that Carrie's single debuted at #1 on four different charts, and it doesn't hit radio stations until July 5.

[i]OKLAHOMA CITY -- American Idol winner Carrie Underwood's first single sold 170,000 copies in its first week, making it the best-selling song so far this year, according to her publicist.

"Inside Your Heaven" debuted at No. 1 on four charts by Billboard magazine -- the Billboard Hot 100, the Pop 100, singles sales and country singles sales.

The 22-year-old Underwood made Billboard history as the first country artist to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100. It's the first time a country song has hit No. 1 since Lonestar's "Amazed" in 2000.

"My dreams continue to come true," Underwood said in a statement. "Thanks to the fans for voting me as their Idol and for wanting to hear -- and have -- my music."

The single won't be released to radio stations for air play until July 5, said publicist Jessie Schmidt in Nashville, Tenn. Underwood is working on her debut album, which is due out this fall.[/b]

LOVE Carrie! I can't wait for her album to come out!

I honestly cried with joy when she won and I even named my puppy after her (and SATC!) I doubt I will even enjoy a season of AI as much as this last one. Sign..

More American Idol news:

'Idol' Quitter Vazquez Signs Record Deal

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Mario Vazquez says he bailed on "American Idol" last spring for "personal reasons." If among those reasons were "signing a record deal without the 'Idol' management contract," consider his mission accomplished.
The 28-year-old Vazquez, who made the final 12 in this year's "Idol" competition, then abruptly took himself out of the running, has signed a recording contract with J Records, a label that also features past "AI" winner Ruben Studdard. Per the show's prize package, all winners and runners-up have been signed to either J, RCA Records or Arista Records -- all of which belong to the Sony BMG music conglomerate.

While other "Idol" singers have signed record deals of their own, Vazquez is the first from the show to sign with J Records without having won the competition or finished second.

"Mario Vazquez is a multi-talented, young American-born Hispanic singer with the voice and charisma that we've been trying to find for a long time," says Clive Davis, Chairman of BMG U.S. "His live audition for us was truly special."
Vazquez, naturally, is happy to be with J, saying, "All I've ever wanted to do is sing and I've always dreamed about having a career in music."

He seemed on his way to that career via "American Idol," where he was considered a favorite to win as the final 12 were chosen in March. He didn't have much to say about his departure, allowing only that "my intuition told me there was things I really needed to take care of, personal areas in my life that I'm trying to keep private."

That fueled speculation that Vazquez was leery of being bound to the "AI" management contract that comes with victory. According to FoxNews.com, he retained the same lawyer that helped former "Idol" runner-up Clay Aiken get out from under the contract, which comes with a few more strings than most such deals.

Vazquez's album is set for release early next year.
