Guys: Is it possible to spot while taking progesterone suppositories? I'm on 200mg once a day.

I ask because I'm newly PG and am freaking out with worry about miscarrying. I haven't started spotting yet but I keep feeling like I might. I feel very twingy/pully/crampy in the ovary/fallopian/uterine area which is usually a sign for the start spotting in my cycle. Would the progesterone keep the flow from happening even if I was miscarrying?

Anyone have any ideas? TIA...

I can't answer your question since I don't know anything about progesterone but I just wanted to let you know that I had those same little crampy/twingy feelings when I first got pg. I have heard of tons of other women who had them too so try not to let those worry you!

Hey Junk-

How are you feeling? Yes, you can spot on the suppositories. If you're inserting them vaginally, there is a chance they can irritate your cervix, causing spotting. I don't believe they would prevent bleeding if you were really miscarrying. I would try not to worry too much (like that is going to happen, huh? ;) ) as your body is bound to feel funny now since it's going thru so many changes!

I just got my BFP on Saturday- so I'm feeling the same worries you are. I'll be saying a prayer for the both of us!

LOL...I don't want to take over your thread.

Long story short this was our first injectable cycle, second cycle using an IUI. I had 4 mature follies when we triggered. Got a BFN on what I think was 13DPO, but I got a BFP on CD15. Had a beta done today- HCG is 122, P4 is 27.3. I go back on Wednesday for a repeat beta. In the mean time, we're doing everything (including shots of heparin, shots of HCG and progesterone suppositories) to keep this babe in place. Very nerve wracking.

Don't use the suppositories (we're doing PIO shots instead - fun fun), but I did have the pulling-twinging-plucking feeling (and still do, occasionally). I also had spotting (but apparently all is fine). I would not be a BIT surprised if the suppositories could cause spotting (in fact, I think I've read that they definitely can), because even the slightest little irritation can cause the cervix to bleed a little.

i've definitely been feeling what you're feeling and so far so good.

also, on the cycles i took progesterone suppositories (3 of them?), i spotted with 2 of them before my period. so it's definitely possible! i doubt the progesterone would stop bleeding. i'm still cramping (at 10w4d) and it's driving me nuts.

YESSSSSSSS I spotted with the prog suppos. so I asked to be switched to the crinone gel. It was a little more expensive, but less invasive (for me). They have applicators, and the gel is "manual". Also you only have to use it ONCE a day (less irritation)

As far as the cramps and stuff, That is normal. Oh and if you have ORANGE yes ORANGE  spotting I got that too, and its normal :o

ETA - yes prog MIGHT prolong you from getting AF but it wont stop a m/c. I saw you other post and your #s are doubling really well. Try to stay out of the heat, and relax, drink lots of water, and ENJOY! *********super sticky vibes***********
