Welcome to the Third Trimester Thread, Mamas!
Please take a moment to look over your information in the first few posts to make sure it is correct. When checking in with the new thread, post a picture or two of yourself if you'd like to, so we all can put faces to names. It can be any picture you want -- a wedding picture, a recent snapshot, your senior HS photo... whatever! :)

Yay for a new thread. I don't hit the third trimester for a few weeks yet but still yay! Hope you guys are all having a great week-end and can I just say that I hate heartburn!

Hi everyone, just saying hello as I am checking into the hospital in the morning. I will have my computer, but it might take me a day or two to get set up and on-line (plus I can't remember my password to this site!).

I'll talk to everyone in a few days - lots of last minute things to take care of tonight.

Threadmistress: If you could, please put my name under "We haven't heard yet" rather than "It's a surprise". We're not that strong, I guess. :) We find out in two weeks!

Also, under the due dates, it has me listed as April 3rd, but I'm actually April 2nd. (Not that big of a deal, just thought I would update.)

Here is a picture of DH and I from a little under a month ago...

Question for the RO's: I know a lot of people have said they didn't really use their playpens, but I'm trying to figure out if I should get one or not... All of my family and my husband's family live in another state (about 2 hours from where we live) and we will be traveling quite a bit with the little one. We typically go up there about once or twice a month and stay the weekend. Do you think a playpen would be beneficial for that? This is the one I am looking at...

Absolutely. Other than using it for the baby to sleep in our room when he as a newborn, we didn't use ours much; but that's because we don't really have much call for it. But we did use it if we went anywhere overnight, or if we went somewhere for a long day when the baby was still sleeping a lot. If you go up and stay weekends that often, I think you'll get a ton of use out of it. Also, people that have large and/or two-story homes would probably use them a lot in the first several months, so the baby could nap right there where they are, and they don't have to go upstairs a million times. p.s. That's a really cute PnP, too!

Us: Our holiday was good. Very busy! DS's naps got all out of whack, though. Even on our hour-long trip to my grandmother's house, he didn't sleep, which we had been counting on. And he ALWAYS sleeps during long drives! Anyway, as far as this pregnancy goes, heartburn is getting worse, and my cold is still lingering. But I'm not doing too badly. Appointments coming up: Nov. 28--follow-up ultrasound to see heart chambers better, followed by an OB appt. Nov. 29th is my 3-hour GTT, which I'm sure to fail. Oy.

Pack N Play: I think it depends on what kind of trips you will be taking and how long you plan to stay. We have one... and, took it to moms (where we go A LOT) once...it was too much of a pita to take it down and take with us... BUT, Nic was a very stay in one place sleeper... so we put him on mom's huge bed and surrounded him with pillows when he needed to sleep someplace (it was always a fight to get him to sleep in the pack n play anyway, so that might have had something to do with it). HOWEVER, I'm glad we had it. Way back when, I wasnt comfortable changing him on the floor (that all changes once baby can roll/crawl really well) and I'm glad we had it for that ...and, dh rigged up a mobile (the tiny love one - LOVE that mobile...we have TWO) to the changing table part, and that was the ONLY place we could put Nic down where he'd be happy in the early days... (don't ask... my kid is strange. We have TONS of pics of Nic happily laying on his changing pad... and none anywhere else (excluding those pics with other people...)

US: Thanksgiving was YUMMY! Had a great time...spent it all with my family - woohoo! :) (we were supposed to hang with the il's but at the last minute they decided they'd rather just go out and not bother with all the trimmings (fine, since we'd all gotten together with bil two weeks before - he was traveling for tday)... Then, we had an Indian wedding to go to Sat. So much FUN...and so yummy. I'd been craving Indian food, but no one would go with me... so that was an extra bonus. (although... everything was LATE and they didnt end up serving dinner til 10:00pm... so I guess it was good that a LOT of the day was spent eating... (they did lunch, then ice cream as the ceremony started, then coctail hour with a buffet/passed hors devours). It was a long day, and I was WIPED OUT yesterday...but SO worth it!

:)

Hello!

Quick update.....I am sick with a terrible upper respiritory (spelling?) infection. I finally am on antibiotics after things got so bad on Saturday night I could barely breathe. I also have pink eye in one eye. I am still at work today. I am so out of it. My 15 month old has been sick for 15 days, and hasn't slept good one of them. My older son is finally getting better. It's been a rough few weeks.

Pack N Play: Worth it to have one if you travel at all. Or you have a very mischievious toddler, like me!

Danalou: Thanks for shraing the pics! You and hubby are a cute couple :)

MommyinPA- Yikes, sounds like you're pretty sick! I hope you start to feel better soon.

I have a pack n play question too- I saw one that had some sort of sun shade thingy. Would that be something that you could bring to the beach? Or is it way too much of a pain to lug around? We spend a lot of weekends in Newport, RI during the summer and I know that young babies aren't supposed to wear sunscreen, so I was thinking that maybe that sunshade model would be a good idea...

Brink- I hope everything is going well for you on your first day at the hospital!

Oh, I forgot to add that we spent Thanksgiving with my ILs- they always get Thanksgiving and my family always gets Christmas, so it's really easy for us each year. Plus my parents went to Las Vegas for the long weekend this year anyway:p

So my ILs have some odd ideas about what we're going to name our baby. First of all, the are completely convinced that we already have a name and we're just not telling them. But we don't. They spent half the day begging us to share some sort of info like the letter it starts with or how many letters or something. Funny. Plus they've all been betting on the type of name. My MIL thinks there's some sort of Passions theme going on in the family. Apparently, that's a soap opera and the last 2 babies born in the family happen to have names of characters from the show. She was pretty bummed to learn that we don't watch though. Her other idea is that we'd combine my dad's name (Joseph) with mine (Elizabeth) and name our baby Jobeth:confused: I'm just not sure why we'd ever do that?? My youngest SIL thinks that we'll name her something Spanish sounding like Teresita because we have gone on a lot of vacations to places where Spanish is spoken. Er, that may be true, but we're not spanish or hispanic... My other SIL thinks we'll go trendy and name her Madison or Ashley.

All I can say is that they're all wrong about our style, but I guess we'll have to wait and see because we really have barely talked about names yet at all!

pack n play/play pen - we used ours a ton (and still do). Both sets of parents live an hour away, so we visit pretty frequently. We never used the changing table part more than 3 or so times and rarely used it when we were home. Dd thrives on routines, so if she is set down somewhere unfamiliar for a nap/bedtime, it can be a struggle to keep her asleep. Until the baby starts to roll over though, you can just lay them on a bed. It wouldn't be something to bring to the beach as they are pretty heavy to be lugging around. They say you shouldn't use sunscreen until 6 months, but they make beach tents/umbrellas for babies. The sunshade thing is pretty useless IMO. Most babies aren't going to just hang out in there for extended periods of time while everyone else is doing something else. It's definitely one of those things that can wait until after the baby is here to see if you'll really use it. Also, since it's usually not an everyday kind of thing, you can find ones for pretty cheap in great shape at consignment shops.

Brink - congrats on making it this far! Hoping those babies stay put for as long as possible!

MommyinPA - hope you and your sons feel better soon!

I'm really far behind.

Mommyinpa- I hope you all feel better soon!

Brink- Good luck girl! Keep us updated!

PNP- We have one and used is quite frequently for Andrew. We used to live in a two story house and I had the PNP set up downstairs so I didn't have to go upstairs to his changing table everytime he needed a diaper change. Plus he took naps in there also if I was downstairs. It also came in handy when we traveled too. I would recommend getting one.

I just had my 25 week apt. Everything looks good. Except I gained 11lbs in the last month:eek: But just for the record I'd been losing weight up until recently. So they weren't concerned. But I have to be a little more careful from now on! I go for my glucose and Rhogam shot next week. Next apt is thurs at Perinatal which you have marked and then Dec 28th. After that I'll go every 2 weeks.

just a quick update while dd is napping (she is bound to wake up any second) - I go in for surgery tomorrow at noon (surgery sometime around 3) and then i will be going to my parents place for a week or so to have extra help with dd since I won't be able to lift her or anything....

wish me luck..

Glad to see everyone had a great thanksgiving.

Re: pack and play - we have one at my parents place that we used with dd until she was in a big girl bed and it was a lifesaver! she never liked it to "play" in but always slept in it.

brink - best of luck in the hospital. once you get up to it and set up, please keep us updated on everything.

uh oh...someone is waking up...more later...

Thanks for all the well wishes ladies. I surely need them! Feeling sick has gotten me a bit depressed too. Hopefully, this shall pass soon.....

Danalou: I hope your MS doens't give you a hard time :(

Betsyboop: awww, great pics! I agree with Kanga...they have sun tents for the beach that are about $20. A PNP may be just too heavy to lug.

Orion: Snow? Did you say Snow?!?

Goldeng: 11 pounds is nuttin' ;)..did I mention I am up at least 27?!?!?

Sneak: Good luck with the surgery!

Nanner: Love the name choice! Hannah was always on my short list.
I already posted this, but threadmistress, we are naming our princess Kaia Michaela.

I'm so jealous of everyone that already has a name for thier baby.... I'm still clueless. DH and I just have total opposites in taste... I like Salvatore (sal) and Micheal Angelo (joe), and dh likes Tyler. Ugh! (This time I don't even have an automatic middle name picked out. With Nic, I knew I wanted Jeffrey as the middle name, but... it is SO HARD to find a nice sounding first name that goes with Jeffrey... so, thats not a must this time... We could do Charles or Robert for the grandpas, but... I'm not dead set on any one name...) Although, I kind of really like Nicholas(cole)... BUT, since we did dominic (nic) ...thats kind of out... and I like vincent or vincenzo, but if we ever do have a girl, viviana is on my short list so I'm afraid to do vinny cause viv and vinny are just a tad too sing-songy. sorry for venting... I'm sure it WONT be the last time I vent about names... (we were at the hospital before we had a name for nic...and the only reason he's got his name is because dh felt so bad once they said it was going to be a c-section that he said I could name him whatever I wanted...

:)

Happy1nuv: Naming my second son was a lot harder than my first! :)
You have a lot of options....it took me a long time to find "the one". Kaia has been on my short list since I was 20, so that wasn't hard! Tyler is a great name....though it is very popular right now. My friend named her son Vincent 2 years ago. Maybe go into the delivery room with a top 3..one you like, one he likes, one you both like..and see what he comes out looking like! :)

Wow! I really can not believe we are starting our third tri thread!!!

Brink ~ good luck!!!

MommyinPA ~ feel better soon!!!

Today is our 2 year anniversary :D DH came with me to my apt this morning so that he could hear the baby's hb again ~ what a perfect start to our day!! The hb is in the 140's, I am measuring right on (first apt they pulled out the tape measure), and I am very proud of myself for only gaining 2lbs since my last apt since we just had Thanksgiving, for a total of 17lbs gained so far. I think my mw is starting to think I am a little too concerned with my weight because she said I was fine and seemed reluctant to tell me the number. Trust me, I have no problems eating, I just like to make sure I have accidentally slipped out of control with the not so healthy stuff. In fact, dh and I are going to dinner tonight and I have spent a good part of the day looking at the menu. I definately plan on having atleat 3 courses!!! I also got the flu shot ~ definately wasn't planning on that today, and was going to refuse when they offered, but my midwife convinced me otherwise. I just hate shots!!

My next apt is December 26th, and I will have the GTT then.

Here are a couple of pics of us. The first is (obviously) from our wedding 2 years ago and the second was from our first anniversary last year in Montreal. I took the picture, so I've kind of got that "deer in headlights" look going on a bit. I need to get some more recent pics of dh and I together!

Seems weird to see a 3rd tri thread, when I still have a month to go before I hit that milestone :)

MrsKinnison - Happy anniversary! :D

Names - We have two of our names picked out - Thomas Robert and Veronica Diann. I really like Jack Henry so I'm pushing hard for it, especially since DH is more in favor of Veronica than I am. Borrowed a baby name book from my SIL, but we're still trying to come up with a second girl's name.

Sneak - Good luck tomorrow!

Brink - Hope the next ten weeks fly by for you! :)

MommyinPA - Hope you feel better soon!

**************

I've come to the conclusion that amongst other things that I can no longer do, I can't watch "Bringing home baby" on TLC, or visit the boards on Fertility Friend. The TV show just freaks me out thinking that pretty soon I'll have *two* of those and how the heck are we going to be able to handle that! As for the boards, in the past two weeks *two* twinmammas who are due in March have given birth. Two! The one gave birth at 23w3d - one baby died 12 hours later, and the other after about 10 days. The other twinmamma gave birth at 25w2d and so far both of her babies are doing okay, but I haven't been back to check because I just can't handle the thought of my babies being born anytime soon. Especially with all these BH contrax I've been having. I'm freaked out enough.

ETA: Oh, and today is 100 days until I'm full term! :D

Good god, this thread is busy!

We tried to get a 3-d u/s yesterday so I can give them in a frame as xmas presents. He was punching me, moving his mouth, and being a little stinker. He would not take his hands away from his face, so we couldn't get any 3-d shots. I am supposed to go back in a few weeks. We did get some pictures and a neat little video of him moving. I'm jealous because all of you have such cute profile shots, but mine are terrible. I posted before, but his name is Noah Harrison.

Here is an updated photo. I have an appt. on Dec. 12 for a kidney scan.

I just got Sophie down for the night so I thought I would take a few minutes to post.
As I said earlier today, I was off work due to a major snow storm. It was so much fun being at home on a Monday with DH and DD. It felt like we were playing hooky and we just enjoyed being at home with each other and playing in the snow. We just moved to Victoria in May and we were told that it doesn't really snow here at all...well they were wrong with that saying because it snowed a foot and a half in the last 24 hours with 10 cm more expected over night. DH and I don't even have a snow shovel and went out to try to buy one today but the whole city is sold out! Crazy!
Question: Anyone else starting to feel huge? I have started to feel really big all of the sudden and really tired all the time. With my first pregnancy I had a ton of energy right up to about 30 weeks but I am starting to get the third trimester tiredness already and I am only 25 weeks...maybe this is normal for the second trimester or maybe it could be because I am 25 weeks pregnant, working full time and have an 11 month old baby!

Hope everyone had a great Monday. Got to run and do some dishes so I will do s/o's tomorrow!

Girls - It is great to see pictures of everyone with the husbands!!

Huge - That is an understatement as I know it is only going to get worse as we get closer!!

Tired - I have been tired for the past couple of weeks and I think it is a combo of the pregnancy and two weeks of travelling. I will say that I hope my morning sickness doesn't come back with the punch it had the first time. So far it has been pretty mild, but I am just keeping my fingercrossed it stays that way.

Update -> Daycare - Last night we put a deposit down on a women we found in the neighborhood behind us. I got a really good vibe from her when we went to meet with her and your gut instinct is what is most important!! Best of luck with everyone else whom has to get their daycare situation figured out.

As always be safe girls!! :D

Dollface you look great and 4d sonos are so much fun, I cant wait to see him again in 2 weeks in 4d :)

Baby Shower had my first baby shower this past Saturday since its the last time I'll be home before he's born, it was fun and we got some stuff, just ordered the swing online last night since my grandma gave me one that has terrible reviews and so we sucked up the extra 25.00 and exchanged it for the one we really wanted!! we have about 160 diapers so thats worth it. Now all we really have left is the little stuff to buy, when I say little stuff I mean 50 and under but that seems like nothing when your spending so much on strollers, car seats, furniture etc.

hmmm, i have NO wedding pics online... come to think of it...i have NO pics of dh and me online anywhere...the only ones online i have are of nic.... a friend of mine is supposed to be emailing me some pics from the wedding we were at on saturday, so if I get those, hopefully there will be a good one to post...

tandis ~ relax and take a deep breath. I think avoiding those shows/sites is a good idea... (I was obsessed with those baby shows before getting pg with nic...once I got pg, I stopped cold turkey. I didn't want the views on those show influencing me when I was already hormonal, yanno? I haven't gone back since and I'm just as happy...)

orion ~ I can't believe you've got snow already. We were watching a football game last night that was snowing... I want snow too!

Good god, this thread is busy!
And that, right there, is why we have a 3rd trimester thread even though most of us aren't in the 3rd trimester yet. :p We are Posty Postersons! I figured that we'll start a "Babies Incoming" thread once we hit around 1,000 posts on this thread (cause babies could very well be coming by then - does this freak anybody else out besides me??), and then a "Babies Are Here" thread after that one hits 1,000.

Because Nanner & MommyInPA have Redlined their babies' names, I added a "DC" line and an "ADD" line (ADD! that was another freak-out moment!) to each of our names in the roster, which put us over the character count for that post, so the roster is now split into 2 posts. If anybody else knows the names they are using and wants me to add 'em in there, let me know.

I PMed the three people we hadn't heard from in the entire 2nd trimester thread, and none of them have responded. Folks still could be on vacation for Thanksgiving, so I'll give it a while, but if I don't hear back from them I'll assume they don't want to be part of the group right now and remove them... of course they're always welcome back if they want to be re-added!

Orion - I noticed that your ultrasound photo is "No Longer Available." Do you have an updated URL for that?

In any case... Updated to here!

Re: Pack-n-play ... I'm not an RO, but we did get one of these. It's set up in our room (photos here (http://stfunfw.wordpress.com/2006/10/09/yay-for-half-way/)) already because I was stressed about the state of our remodel and made B put it up when I was about 20 weeks just so I'd know the baby would have an actual place to go after s/he gets here. :o It is, and will be our nursery for the first couple of months of the bambino's life. We have a 2-story house and I can see how useful it's going to be for that purpose... In any case, I'm glad we have it.

Tandis - I love your name choices. :D

Dollface - I have not done Dream Dinners, but a gift certificate to that place is on my Christmas List. I'm interested to know how it goes for you, so I hope you'll post a review after you've gone!

QOTD: Anyone else starting to feel huge? - Oh, god yes. I'm glad I'm not the only one. From the Fat Face in my most recent belly shot photo (it is soooo depressing to me!!) to grunting every time I sit down or stand up from the couch, to needing to brace myself against my husband to get situated in the bed at night (causing him to make grunty noises) ... man, yes, I feel humongous & very roly-poly. It is causing me some very conflicting feelings because of my previous morbid obesity -- i never thought I'd get that big again, and yet here I am... and I keep remembering that I still have 13 weeks to go. I can't wait to join Weight Watchers after the baby is born!

I think it was Miaclear who wanted to know what I thought of the Bravado Bra... but I'll tell you all what I've found out about Nursing Bras so far...

Nursing Bra Update - My friend sent me a Bravado that was too small for her. I am semi-impressed. I loooove the sports-bra style back, and I am surprised how much support it gives and how happy I am that it's there. I don't like the snap-closure flaps, however, and would prefer a clip. I keep pulling the bra around to put it on and SNAP! it comes undone and almost puts my eye out. I'm sure this is Operator Error, and I'll figure out how to do it without killing myself in time. I would also prefer that it have an "underbra" rather than just a strap when the flap is down. I bought another one at Motherhood for $11 that works too... but my favorite so far has been from Mimi Maternity - the Seamless Soft Cup Bra (http://www.mimimaternity.com/Product.asp?category_Name=Nursing+Bras&category_Id=3071&product_Id=96293071&MasterCategory_Id=7). Of course, their biggest band size fits me just perfectly right now, and I'm scared I'm going to expand further and don't want to spend $38 on a bra before I'm a little more sure what size I'm going to be.

Hi ladies! I just got back from a wonderful ten day trip to MN to see my family. I see there's a new thread and it's moving fast (Janey I'm back to help keep it updated)!!!! I probably won't be able to get back to reading what happenend on the old thread but I'm updated up to here :)

I just had my glucose test this morning and a full appt. Everything went great, measuring great, gained five pounds in five weeks (I got praises for doing that over a holiday AND ten day vacation!) for a total of 20 pounds so far. Hopefully my gain will slow down some now. My next appt is Dec 29th and after that I start going ever two weeks....HARD to believe

I think this coming weekend DH and I will start our registry which should be fun. I'll be back later to post some pictures.

That would be me. :o I wasn't logged in and didn't know I had a PM.

I would love to stay on the list. I read the thread daily. By the time I am done reading I don't have time to post anymore, or I can't remember what was talked about. :) I'll try harder to post more often.

On the pack and play... we got one with my first son. I set it up in the living room. The changing table attachment was a godsend, especially since I had to have an emergency c-section. The changing table allowed me to change diapers without bending or having to climb stairs to go into the nursery. We also used the changing table for Dillon's sponge baths. Other than that, we didn't use it much. Dillon took cat naps in the basinet part. He never slept well in it though. Once he outgrew it and started taking naps in his crib, or with me in bed, we kept toys in it. LOL We don't travel regularly, however, if you do, it will come in handy!

I had a level 2 u/s October 31st. (I'm high risk) But the baby had his/her legs tightly crossed. My next u/s is scheduled for December 18th, hopefully we'll know the sex then.

Everyone looks so great in their pictures! It's fun to actually put *faces* to names rather then just *bellies* to names :)

Feeling large - I hear ya. It seems like just a couple weeks ago people were saying I didn't even look pregnant..now I feel so BIG!

Bras - anyone know where to buy bra extenders? Is this something they sell in regular lingerie sections/stores or is it only in maternity?

Janey - I will let you know about Dream Dinners. It seems fairly easy and it breaks down to about $3-4 a meal, can't beat that. Supposedly you can freeze the dinners for 3-5 months too. If it works out, I will probably book another session in Feb. so we have some good meals on hand for the first several weeks.

mmm0708 - It's great to hear from you! :D I'll update your stats here in a second. No worries on not being all posty along with the rest of us -- I just want to make sure nobody had gotten "lost."

Dollface - When I was at Motherhood, I saw that they had a bra extender there. It was like $2.50. Thanks for keeping me updated on the Dream Dinners. We have so little space in our freezer that I really want to get our 2nd freezer before we go in. I'm hoping to go in Feb to do some meal prep before the bambino comes. It sounds like such a great idea.

Miaclear - Welcome back! I'm glad you had a good vacation. I assume the thread will move at lightning speed while people subscribe and update their stats and whatnot, then it'll slow down to its usual dull roar. :p

Just a few things for the first page- could you add my due date to the list- March 14 and change DH's age to 30?

It's so great to see a pictures of everyone.

Here's a picture from our wedding over 3 years ago.

http://static.flickr.com/119/308788412_5bff1cb1f3.jpg?v=0

Feeling huge- Yes! I was about 10lbs lighter when I got pregnant (both times) than I was at my wedding. Last night I saw a belly shot we took when I was about 5 weeks pregnant with my previous pregnancy. I forgot I used to look like that. And even then I was about 10lbs over where I wanted to be. Don't get me wrong- gaining weight is a small price to pay for having a baby but I hate feeling ugly all of the time. I think the fact that I'm gaining weight all over my midsection and just not up front is contributing to my feelings. Oh, and the face weight sucks too.

Tired- I've definitely been more tired in the last two or so weeks. I have a long work day today- not sure how I'm going to make it until 10:00 tonight. Luckily I only have I only have a few more of these long days. I don't see how you ladies with busy schedules do it.

Great belly shots everyone. I like seeing the frontal pictures too. It looks like those of you who've posted are carrying a lot more out front than I am. I'll have to take a picture this week and post it. I've grown so much lately.

Tandis- thanks for explaining the twin delivery situation. I know next to nothing about twin pregnancy. Thanks, too, for the description of BH.

Can we talk about gear? I'm going to register this week so I would love to hear about what you've already bought and what you're planning on getting.

So far we only have a Bjorn (regular) and the Papasan Swing.

We're planning on getting:
Chicco Keyfit carseat in Explorer
Arms Reach Co-sleeper in Toffee
Hotsling
Moby Wrap

Um, that's all so far. :o My friend is helping me register so I will probably take her advice on a lot of the little stuff. I'm hoping to receive some clothes and toys as gifts so I haven't even looked at them. I've been obsessed with strollers lately but I think I'm going to wait a little while to see if the prices for the 2006 models come down when the 2007s come out. I'm looking at the Peg Perego P3, Inglesina Zippy, Chicco C1, and Zooper Waltz. I've only seen the P3 and the Zippy but they're too expensive right now. The C1 and the Waltz are in my price range.

Does anyone have any suggestions for smaller, inexpensive diaper bags? Most of the bags I've seen are huge. All of my purses are tiny and I just can't see myself carrying a ginormous bag. I'll find a way to pack light.

Gear we purchased or recieved so far:
Inglesina Zippy w/matching compass infant seat
Alpha Omega Elite Infant to toddler car seat (for our other car)
Sensory Selections Bouncer
Peg Perego Papa Prima Diner highchair (gift)
Fisher Price Nature's Touch Papasan Swing (gift)
Furniture set (chiforobe, combo dresser/changing table, crib and glider)

On my *tentative* list:
Stork Sak Gigi Black Diaper Bag (I swear its the ONLY one I've found that I like so far but its so expensive I have a hard time buying it)

Bottles how many do I need right now we have 6-8oz ones, 7-4oz ones
wondering if I should purchase another 3-8ozs and 2-4ozs? I'm using Dr. Browns, my cousin LOVES them for her girl whats everyones thoughts?

littlemia not pressuring you but I know its really expensive but the Zippy is TOTALLY worth it, I LOVE IT and I've only played with it in the house so far. Has the best fold of all of them I looked at the Pegs and I hated how they folded. We paid 420.00 for the stroller/infant seat combo, on sale so I know its not cheap.

We chose Noah Harrison for the name.

I know I posted that yesterday but I wanted it in red so it will be on the roster.

So far we have:
crib and dresser
pack n play
old mcdonald play mat
travel system
some clothes
bouncy seat/rocky chair
diaper bag
baby gate
baby leash that looks like a monkey backpack

My parents are getting us a video camera for xmas. Everyone keeps getting me clothes and saying "since everyone will get you newborn clothes we got you clothes for older kids". I have almost no newborn clothes! But I don't mind buying them, so whatever works. My baby might not be in them long anyway. We still have a lot to get, but I have one shower still to come so I know we will get lots more stuff. I also got a giftcard at my last shower that I'm saving until we find out what else we need.

Gear that I could not live without:
-Baby Bjorn w/ back support: so great for walking when a stroller isn't ideal (ie. hiking in the woods) or while travelling (took a nine hour flight back home when DD was 2 months old and the Bjorn was a life saver)
-PNP: we didn't actually have this when DD was a newborn but bought it when she was about three months old and doing a lot of travelling. It was great for that purpose when she was younger and we found it great when we moved into a two storey house and if I needed to do dishes or stuff around the house, I could put her in the PNP and she would play, giving me the time to get the dishes or laundry done. Now that we are having another baby, we are actually going to buy another PNP (will be doing some travelling and will need two for both kids to sleep in) and I think that it will be so handy because I can put DC #2 in the bassinett for naps and keep him/her downstairs with us.
-Jump-a-Roo: DD loved this. It is also a great thing to use when you need both hands free to do some stuff around the house.
-Nursing Pillow: I have the 'bosom buddy' nursing pillow and it was great. I nursed DD until I was about 12 weeks pregnant with this one (when I lost my milk :( ). It was so great for the support and for the comfort. It is so soft and comfy and I am actually using it now as a support for between my legs when I sleep at night. It is a large nursing pillow (much larger than the boppy) so I use it like that snuggli body pillow.
-Rocking Chair: DH had an old fashioned rocking chair made for me one Christmas and it was a life saver. Used it all the time in Sophie's bedroom for nursing and for rocking her to sleep.
-Peg Perago Prima Pappa High Chair: Not something that is needed right away, as we didn't use this until DD started solids at 6 months but it has been great.

Things I could have lived without:
-Peg Perago Stroller: I don't know exactly what one I have but I'm not a big fan. Don't get me wrong, it is a great stroller that is very easy to use, and has been great. But the one thing that I hate about it (as was mentioned by Whit) is how big it is when it folds. We have a Nissan Sentra for our vehicle (bought before Pregnancy #1, #2 and before we got Chinook, out 70 lbs dog!) and the stroller takes up the whole trunk. Don't ask me what we are going to do with two kids, a huge dog and a stroller that fills the trunk.
-Crib:A crib is a nessecity but I am really regretting buying a crib that doesn't have the front that comes down. Do you know how hard it is getting to be to pick up my 11 month old baby from her crib while I have this belly on me! Trust me ladies...if any of you are thinking of getting pregnant shortly after having this baby, you need a crib with easy access!

Things I did live without: DH and I started out living in a one bedroom condo with our first child so needless to say we kept our list of things that we needed to a minimum do to space. Just wanted to share this list because when I was pregnant with #1 I alway felt bad because I wasn't buying the stuff everyone else was due to the lack of space. Even now that we have the space, I probably won't be buying this stuff. We didn't have a swing, a nursary (Sophie didn't even have her own bedroom!), a change table, or any fancy things for the baby. Basically, we had a crib, a stroller, a car seat and a nursing pillow when DD was first born.

This turned out to be a longer post than I though but I hope this helps some of you. My DH and I have a different view on having a baby than a lot of people I think. We just want to keep everything to a minimum and we waited until after Sophie was born to see what we would really need and one thing that I have learned it that you really don't need too much to keep a newborn happy!

Wow, a 3rd trimester thread! I'm still not saying I'm in the 3rd tri for a couple more weeks but I can't believe we are almost there!

I just got back from a trip to NYC and then TN for Thanksgiving and it's nice to relax. New York was fun but I hate how out of shape I feel, all that walking wore me out!

Janey ~ the mimi maternity nursing bra you posted is my favorite! I have two and should probably get another one because it's the only one I like to wear now. I thought the Bravados were comfortable enough but only wear mine at night (when I needed them) because I wanted something more bra-like during the day, if that makes sense. :)

hugeness ~ not feeling so much huge as I am just uncomfortable. Which sucks because I know how much more uncomfortable I'm going to be feeling in the next few months. I'm noticing how tired I get just climbing the stairs carrying my 19 month old. Ugh.

For gear when I registered I kind of went off of the New Parents Checklist at BRU.
http://www.toysrus.com/registry/truParentsCheckList.jsp

Not that I registered for everything that was on there but it helped as a guide. I got a few outfits and toys at my shower and a LOT more after the baby was born so don't worry if you don't have too much, just so you have enough to get by the first couple weeks.

diaper bag ~ I started off with a bigger one that my husband didn't mind carrying but quickly decided I hated it and wanted something more me. I bought a Petunia Pickle Bottom like this one
http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/nurturecenter_1926_6298414
that can be used as a backpack or on the shoulder. I mostly used it as a backpack which was really convenient. Now I just carry a small black bag I got at Target. I just have the essentials in there (diapers, wipes, change of clothes) and leave a bigger bag in the car with the other stuff (more dipes, clothes, medicines). I hate lugging a diaper bag everywhere and this small black bag is more like a big purse.

bottles ~ depends on if you FF or BF and pump. I was a SAH BFing mom so I really didn't need many bottles. I only used the 4oz bottles, I think I have 9 or 10 of them and I used all of them for my first daughter because I would pump and store the milk in them too. I could rarely pump more than 4 oz and if I did I'd just use 2 of the bottles. My second daughter stopped taking bottles at 2 months so I didn't even bother with the pumping for her very often. I actually had a pack of 8oz bottles that I just gave away because I figure after not using them with 2 kids I probably won't use them with a 3rd. But some people only use 8oz bottles and not 4oz, so it just depends on your situation.

crib ~ I hear you on the easy access thing. Ours won't lower either and it's a total PITA to change the crib sheet with this belly of mine.

happy1nuv
11-29-2006, 06:33 AM
Bottles ~ I wouldn't buy too many of them before baby is born. A friend of mine's son would ONLY take one kind of bottle (the last brand she brought home, of course) so she has like 6 complete sets (yeah, think she learned?) of different brand bottles that she NEVER used... (he would take each one for a week, she'd get excited and buy enough to use permanently, then he'd start refusing). I forget what brand she ended up using... BUT, if your baby is a picky one... you might be wasting your money...

Things we couldn't live without:
Hotslings pouch -- Since then, I've learned to make my own, and they are SUPER easy. If you sew at all, there's a great website with directions... I'm making one for all of my pg friends because I truly think they're indispensible!

Baby bjorn with back support ~ Pricey yes. Priceless yes. I dont think we started using this til Nic could face out, but soooo worth it! (I have a kid who hates his stroller - always has)

Baby bathtub with a hammock ~ I don't think brand is as important as it has one of those hammock things...the LAST thing you'd want to do with a newborn is try to bathe him without putting him in something (unless dh will always be around for bathtime...then its easier to fake)

Amby baby hammock ~ The ONLY place Nic would sleep besides my arms. LOVED it! And, loved that it prevents flat head and there's never been a sids death with a baby in one. Those two facts alone sold me... and I loved that I could just put my hand on him and rock him to sleep (the bed sways...it hangs from a spring).

Boppy ~ Wonderful for nursing!

Exercise mat ~ You know, those mats for floor time with the stuff that hangs... It was more of a play thing when he was older than younger, but I'm glad we have one. Putting Nic on the floor with nothing...well, that was wayyyyy worse....

Oh... and we have the Britax Companion infant seat and Britax roundabout ... LOVE both of them. Even though Nic didn't, I think they're both very easy to use...
I think thats all my must haves...

My didn't really needs:
Expensive stroller ~ Nic wouldn't sit in it anyway. We bought the cheap ones anyway (knew #2 would be soon after, so figured we wait and spend $$ on a double, just got the generic carrier for the carseat). They worked just fine, the few occasions we've used them.
Crib ~ Nic's never spent a night in one.
I'm sure we have more useless stuff... but can't think of any...

Our little man is gonna be Zachary Aiden

I have other stuff too I didnt list:
23 outfits (they are all broken up, most of them are 3-6 months though) It seems to be a baby shower favorite
5 bibs
7-4oz bottles (with nipples)*they were b-shower decorations to hold the ballons down, my mom wanted to use something we could use later so we filled them with water.
6-8oz bottles
2 rattles/teethers
10 burp rags (I just wanted the plan white cloth diapers but I got them for my shower, they are just going to get nasty so I wouldnt personally have spent the money on *cute* ones.
2 stroller blankets (gift)
1 security blanket (gift)
6 pairs of socks (another gift)
2 newborn pacifiers (b-shower game item)
4 stage 2 pacifiers (b-shower game item)

Ok, you guys are all totally freaking me out with your lists of stuff you've bought already! Here's what we've bought:

a couple of cute outfits
the nerd baby alphabet (http://tiffanyard.com/nerd.htm) (we're both engineers, so it seemed fitting)
2 packs of baby announcements that I found at TJ Maxx for $.75 each

That's it! We did go looking at cribs last weekend just to see what was out there, but we didn't make any kind of decision or anything. We also still need to register. I guess we better get going on that!

Oh yeah, and we haven't seriously discussed the name yet either:o

Hi everyone - just a quick drive-by letting all know surgery went very well and baby is still kicking away (although right under the incisions). I'm in a fair bit of discomfort/pain right now but today is supposed to be the worst day. I'll post more in a few days when I'm feeling better. Thanks for prayers and well wishes.

Hope everyone is doing well....

Sneak: So glad to hear that the surgery went well. You are in my thoughts today! After what you went through I don't think I will be able to complain about the pregnancy discomfort that I am in today because it would be nothing compared to what you are going through...you are one brave Mama!

Glad to here everyone is doing well! I had my 24W appt on Monday and I am starting to measure big, so I will have another ultrasound in 3 weeks. This happened with my first one so not at all surprised. I also have my glucose test which I failed the first time last go round and really hoping I don't have to do the 3 hour one!

Sneak - Great news, rest up!!

Dipaer Bags - I am a BIG FAN of the Kecci's that our moderatly priced, I just love having a backpack especially when I will have 2 kids and no room to carry anything.

Bottles - I used the Playtex drop in with Jack and LOVE them. I was lucky and didn't have any problems with Jack refusing the bottle or anything. The thing I like about the drop ins was very few parts I had to sterilize every night, really just the nipples. Apparently Babies R Us will take back any used bottles if they don't work with your child.

Purchases - We don't need that much but need to start researching double strollers and such!

I LOVED seeing the pictures of everyone so I will too, but will take this down in a few days because I don't like pasting pictures in here, if anyone is on LJ let me know:

PICTURES DELETED!

Re: Gear - Great topic! I used a combination of Baby Bargains and various CC threads for my jumping off points on making decisions. If anybody would like me to look up anything in the Baby Bargains book, let me know and I'd be happy to.

Other than a few outfits that the grandmas have bought, the only things we have so far is the Crib, a crib mattress, and a Pack-n-play (the Counting Sheep one just cause I like the little sheeps ;)). The crib is in pieces in our dining room, and the mattress is leaning up against the crib. I don't expect that situation to change until after the baby is here. :/ Because of the "nowhere to put stuff" issue, we'll probably not buy a whole lot until after the bambino gets here. In any case, this is what's on my Wish List...

Carseat: Graco Snugride in Windsor (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2400904&cp=&f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2255957&origkw=graco+snugride&kw=graco+snugride&parentPage=search). I wish they had this one in the Sheep pattern too, but they only have it in that pattern if you want to buy the stroller too, and I don't. :/ A Tip: I noticed that my hospital has a "Safe Ride" program that offers discounted (or free, if your income allows it, but I'm sure ours would not) carseats. I keep forgetting to call and find out what seats they're offering at a discounted rate, but it might be worth looking into similar programs in your areas. If they're offering the same seat you would've bought anyway for cheaper - why not!

Stroller: BOB Revolution (http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?storeId=8000&catalogId=40000008000&productId=48015677&parent_category_rn=9686093&vcat=REI_SEARCH). We do a lot of walking outside on bad sidewalks & uneven terrain, but not a lot of jogging. I've heard rave reviews from people with BOB strollers, so this should be a solid choice for us. I've asked for REI gift certs for Christmas so I can use them when REI has one of their "30% off one item" sales.

High Chair: Chicco Polly (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2265743&cp). Baby Bargains likes this one and the FP Aquarium one best, but I am not a fan of the styling of the FP one. The Chicco one looks like it might blend in a little better.

Swing - Baby Papasan Swing (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2265268&cp). I think the folks here on CC helped me figure out whether to do chair or swing, and which swing was best. I just noticed that FP has a new "Rainforest" swing out, but I still like the papasan one better. :)

Bathtub - Mother's Touch Baby Bather (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2373665&cp=&f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2255957&origkw=Baby+Bather&kw=baby+bather&parentPage=search). We chose this one because it looks like it'll fit into our sink pretty well.

Diaper Bag - I too love those Asian Brocade ones! Sooo pretty. If you have one in your area, Nordstrom Rack sometimes has some really great deals on designer diaper bags. A long time ago, I read something in the diaper bag thread here on CC that has never left my brain - somebody worked in fashion, said that the OiOi (http://www.oioi.com.au/) ones were the best organized diaper bags they'd ever run across, and goodness knows I like to be organized :p , so that may be the way I go. We'll see.

Babywearing/carriers still confuse the heck out of me so I haven't made any real decisions there. I also haven't made any real decisions about nursing pillows or what to do about a breast pump because of general confusion and anxiety about the whole breastfeeding situation. I'm thinking these may be two things that it makes sense for me to wait on, and see what problems I run into, and which products I feel will best solve those problems?

I too love seeing everybody's pictures. :D So much fun! I realized I forgot to post one earlier. Here's me & B:

Pictures....I love looking at everyone elses so thought I better share.

Hi Girls

I've got to do some searching for pics of us. Our computer crashed a few months ago and everything got erased:mad:

Wanted to chime in on the Baby Gear info. We've got the crib, changing table, swing, etc from Andrew. I do need a new infant bath tub because I hated our first one. I forget the name of it but we got it at BRU and its the one that comes with the shower. The shower doesnt work! I hated that thing!

We have the aquarium swing and love it! I started out with a Graco travel system and while I love the snugride car seat I hated the stroller. I stopped using it and got the Peg Perego P3 and it was worth every penny! For the ladies considering the P3 but don't want to spend $289- Albeebaby.com has P3's for around $200 with no tax and no shipping!!!!! What a great deal!

As for bottles we used the playtex ones the first time around and they were wonderful! We started off with the Avent ones but Andrew had colic and the playtex ones were helpful because you can squeeze the excess air out of the bags. They really helped Andrew alot. We're going to use them this time around too although I plan on BF.

RE:breast pumps- Totally my opinion but I would highly recommend getting one before the baby comes. My Breast pump was a lifesaver with helping engorgement and for pumping for bottles. I've had many friends who send their DH's out to get one once they come home. Just my two cents.

We need to get new bedding for this little girl and clothes obviously. I also want to get a skip hop diaper bag since i've heard such good things about them.

I have a perinatal apt tomorrow morning for a growth scan so hopefully everything looks good. Hope everyone is well!

I highly second the Peg P3, still use it to this day along with a jogging stroller because I own a Mom and Baby workout franchise!

Janey- I am considering the double BOB for one of my double stroller, we will see! That or the Bill & Ted, not sure I am getting that name correct. My advice would also be to get the breast pump before because I started pumping very early, even though they will tell you to wait to pump. I was going back to work and wanted to store away as much as possible! I have the Medela Pump in Style and love it, but I know there are many cheaper pumps that do the job. I am also a fan of the boppy not just for breastfeeding but for a perfect place to set the baby down.

Orion - I friended you and I promise my posts aren't always horrible, I was having a couple of bad days with DS!

Sneak- glad to hear you're doing okay!

Thanks so much for the gear input. I ordered Baby Bargains through interlibrary loan but I'm still waiting for it, ugh. I was hoping to look through it before I went to register. Hopefully the courier that delivers the books came yesterday afternoon.

Breast pumps- Would you recommend a battery powered breast pump for a SAHM? They seem a lot more convenient but they are pretty pricey.

Diaper bags- is there a certain material that's better? My travel daypack is microfiber and I like that and think it would be good for a diaper bag but I haven't seen a ton of microfiber diaper bags.

Cribs- DH and I like the look of the convertible cribs best. Do any of those have a drop side? Neither of us is tall, so I'm thinking a drop side might be needed.

Janey- that video clip is funny. You guys are so cute!

Here's my 25 week 1 day belly shot compared to 21 week 2 days. Sorry they're different sizes.

littlemia- I would recommend getting a battery or plug in pump. Its not absolutely necessary but I've been a SAHM with Andrew since the beginning and I had a double electric pump and a a battery powered single (which hurt so bad might I add) It was the medela one. It literally felt like my nipple was being ripped off. Anyway, the double electric ones work fast and when you're trying to care for a little one time definately matters and to me at least, it was way more comfortable. I use the Ameda purely yours and they cost around $150- alot cheaper than the PIS!

littlemia ~ I can't get over how good you look. *jealous!*

Breast pumps ~ I have the manual Avent Isis (I think it's around $50) and I love it. It's perfect for SAHMs I think that don't need to pump too often. I can get about 4oz in 5 minutes so it's pretty quick. The only time I wish I had an electric was when I was away from my daughter and had to pump a few times a day, then I got sick of having to do it manually. But that only happened once or twice in the whole time I was BFing.

Cribs ~ I'm pretty positive our crib is a convertible crib and the side is supposed to drop down but it doesn't work now. My husband says it's broken but I'm not convinced. I think the movers just put it together wrong last summer because it used to work. If our house ever gets finished and we move again I'm going to play around with it.

I'm so jealous of all you getting new baby stuff. 3rd babies are kind of boring because I have everything I need. I guess I could buy a new outfit just for the sake of buying something new but after already having 2 girls I really don't need anything. No fun at all.

Janey ~ Hilarious bouquet toss!

Pumps ~ I second the Ameda Purely Yours. Great pump... and great set actually. Mine came in a backpack with a car charger and a cooler to put expressed milk - I'm not bf'ing at the moment, but we use the cooler ALL THE TIME to store stuff for nic. It's the perfect size... Great package set! I got it on ebay (forget from who, she's a lactation consultant though)... much better deal than the pis, imo.

Hello Ladies!

I love all the pictures of everyone. It's really nice to put faces to the names. I will get a few pictures on Flickr so I can post them here of me and DH.

Unfortunately, I am still ill and my youngest son now has a double ear infection. He has been up all night for weeks now, and this morning he spilled his Amoxicillan all over the floor as I was struggling to give him his dose and he flailed his arms around. I haven't been very emotional in general(I am usually too tired!), but I basically bawled my way to work today. I am just so exhausted!!!!!! Thats my vent for the day....so, I am sorry I am behind here.....

The happy news is..I got some VERY adorable girl clothes the other day, my first "big" shopping trip for the little princess. A lot is pink (I am not a "pink" kind of woman) but, it really just is all so cute. I am dying to see her in them!

Pumps: I use the Isis manual and I work full time. I do have an electric, but I find the Isis to be just as fast, and so much more comfy. I have the Playtex Embrace. I am buying another Isis this time around. I Bf-ed for almost 9 months with just a manual pump. It can be done! Also, I would not wait to buy one for after the baby. One word:Engorgement.

"Stuff": As per what Buffy said, I pretty much "have it all". I am of course buying new clothing...but other than that, my purchases have been a double stroller off of EBAY(Peg Perego), Hotsling, and a new highchair. Caden's was getting old and I wanted a really nice one that would last for him over the next year and then for Kaia. I also got the Peg Perego Prima Pappa. I LOVE it....so worth it! I don't plan on getting much else execpt for a diaper bag.

Diaper bags: I need a good one. Keep the suggestions coming! I always have bought crappy ones and I would like a nice one this time.

Bottles: My advice...do NOT stock up on a lot of one type. I bought my first son a TON of Avent bottles....he refused them and only used Playtex. My second son preferred Playtex as well.

Sneak: Glad the surgery wa s asuccess.

I love all the names everyone has picked out! What good taste you ladies have.

I feel very far from my third trimester too. But congrats to those who are there already!

Stuff - the only things I've boughten so far is a coming home outfit which I didn't really need, but it was super cute and on sale. Also bought another crib mattress. Still need: double stroller, crib and bedding, booster chair (we have NO room for 2 high chairs) summer clothes, a carseat(dd's was a hand me down and has expired), and a bigger diaper bag for all day trips. Dh's company has just started selling some Graco products, and will hopefully get evenflo soon so I can get those brands at cost for the stroller, etc:D

pumps - check with your insurance company as some of them will cover part or all of the cost. I have the Pump in style and really like it, although I have nothing to compare it too. It was less at the hospital than BRU, etc and I didn't have to pay tax.

Bottles - if you are bfing, you really won't need that many. You might use 1 a day at the most if you SAH, and if you WOH, probably not more than 3 a day. No idea if you plan to bottle feed full time. They eat so often in the beginning, about 10-12x a day, so I'm guessing you'd probably want at least that many bottles although I agree don't stock up just yet in case baby won't take it.

Hi, ladies! I had my followup u/s on Tuesday to check the heart chambers (couldn't get a good look at them the first time), and everything is good. Also had my 3-hour GTT, but no results yet. The test was much better than last time. I guess my veins were cooperating a little better.

I feel SO far behind. I haven't purchased anything for this baby yet. I mean, it's our second, so we don't have a bunch to buy. But we definitely need new pacifiers (I think I gave all of mine away when we weaned Sam off of them around 4 or 5 months, because I can't find any of them), newborn clothes (I donated all of Sam's to Hurricane Katrina victims at the Astrodome), etc.

But I do have a WORD OF WARNING ON BUYING A BREAST PUMP EARLY: I think I might have mentioned this before, but if you do buy early, do NOT open the package. Even though most of us have a breastfeeding plan, you never know if it will actually turn out that way, and you may have to return/exchange the pump, and they won't accept any packages that are open. For instance, you might be planning on being a SAHM, so you don't really need a strong pump, since you'll only be pumping occassionally, so you buy a handheld pump. However, say the baby is born with a complication (God forbid), or born early, and has to go to NICU. In a case like this, where you want to keep your milk supply high, but are unable to nurse for a while, a handheld pump won't be sufficient. What we did was rent a pump from the hospital to take home with us, so we had it handy until we really knew what kind of pump I'd need. (Turns out I only breastfed for about 3 weeks, so I didn't even need to buy one.)

Okay, off my soapbox now. :)

happy1nuv & Littlemia - I'm glad you liked the video. I laughed so hard about my big face at the end the first time I saw it I thought my sides were going to split open.

ladybug0525 - If you decide to go with the BOB stroller, REI is the best deal I've found on them. They have those 30% off sales pretty often, and I think if you're a member, you still get to apply that toward your year-end dividend, though I'm positive sale items apply. Also, if you live in Seattle, I want the # to your mom & baby fitness business. :p

MommyinPA - I'm so sorry you and your son are still not feeling so well! Try to rest as much as you can... maybe drink some OJ. :)

Nanner - I LOVE your wedding dress!! It's soooo elegant. :) And - That is a great suggestion on the pump. I'm considering renting one from the hospital for a few months before deciding on whether to buy an electric or a manual. I know I want one, but I'm not sure which or what kind.

Miaclear - Great quilt! That's really special that your mom is making that for you. :D

Nanner - I LOVE your wedding dress!! It's soooo elegant.

Thanks! Actually, I have a confession. That was dress #2. I bought the first one, had it altered and everything, and like 3 weeks before the wedding, I decided it was too bulky and uncomfortable. So I told myself if I could find something inexpensive and off the rack that I loved, I'd get it. And I did. :)

Nanner - I am cracking up because this is our second so I haven't really done anything either! I told my sister tonight I really need to buy new pacifiers because we just weened Jack about 2 months ago and I threw them all out. He was only using them in the crib since about 6 months but figured this next kiddo deserves some new paci :)!

Janey - My franchise is actually in TX but we do have classes in Seattle. Check out www.babybootcamp.com

So, has anyone started getting stretch marks yet? I'm wondering when they'll start to show up if I'm going to get them since I haven't seen any yet. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get them because I got a bunch on my thighs during puberty.

Something kind of funny- last night I was woken up out of a dead sleep because I was sort of half on my side and half on my stomach and I was apparently smooshing baby. She was angry and was fighting back- she felt like a tiny tornado in my belly! It was crazy! It's so funny to think that she's actually somewhat aware of what's going on around her, you know?

Nanner- I bought 2 wedding dresses too:p

Can you believe how far along we are... it amazes me every time I read that I belong to a thread that says "Third trimester". Ugh... I HAVE to get my hypnobabies stuff out again and review... I'm sooo not ready! And, last night, I dreamt that I gave birth. I remember scrambling to find my mom to hang with Nic and trying to convince dh that it was for real and he had to get home quick... then we were magically at the hospital and I had twins...one girl and one boy - we named the girl Alessandra Marie and then I woke up before we announced the boys name...figures, since that is the one we need!
;)
[warning: vent ahead]
My mil keeps teasing me that we're actually having a girl and just keeping it a secret. I LOVE my mil, but every time she says that - it hurts. (You have to understand, ever since I was a little girl...I've been saving stuff for "my girls"... a bunch of dolls, doll clothes, my clothes from little -- I have projects/idea sheets saved for when I'm their brownie troop leader... I'm coming to grips with the possibility of just not having a girl...we're gonna have one more (pray we have baby girl twins next please) but, ... ugh, I'm emotional today... and I know we're blessed to have two (fingers crossed since #2 isn't born yet) healthy boys and I love them hugely... just not where I would have said my life was going to go... My boys are a blessing, and I guess I can always keep the stuff for MY grandchildren! ;)
[/vent]

On a lighter(?) note... do you realize that today is DEC 1st??? There are now 24 days til Christmas!! (I'm done most of my get out of the house shopping, but now I have to finish putting things together (I'm making a bunch of baskets for people) and order the online stuff.... UGH!!! Where did the time go????

How did I fall so far behind??? Not only in the post, but everything else as well!

Stuff ~ So far I have purchased one bib with matching onsie thing, one hat, one really cute sweater, one sleeper, and MIL bought us our bedding and matching mobile. Seriously, that is it! The nursery is just hours from being done ~ Chris just needs to pull off the baseboard to paint that, do some touch-ups, and he's putting on new doors (they were the old hollow brown ones from 20years ago so painting them wasnt' going to really work). The plan is to get the furniture next week.

Christmas ~ 2 gifts purchased so far. Considering we have to buy for both sets of parents, 5 Siblings or there SO's, 5 nieces and 2 nephews, not to mention each other, I am really far behind. These are all people that we are really close with and see day in and day out, so it's not like we buy for "everyone." We do like to do extra for our parents though because they are so good to us all the time and its a nice time to be able to give back. My step-moms kids are always really good to her, but most likely it will just be me and my step mom thinking about my dad. This really bothers me since there are 5 of us kids & he has always been there for us no matter what and has always put us first.{uh-oh, I think I've got some pregnancy emotions shining through here...}

Sneak ~ I am so glad to hear that everything went well!!

Speaking of gifts... do you and dh go all out for each other? This year, I think dh and I aren't really doing gifts for each other. We buy what we need when we need it... and we're putting a deck on, so when that's done, we'll buy furniture (i told him to give me an iou for that for christmas/my birthday) and probably some sort of speakers/sound stuff out there (what he's "getting" for christmas/his birthday). I know thats kinda scrooge-y, but...

Orion
12-01-2006, 10:15 AM
Happy1nuv: I don't think that is scrooge-y at all. DH and I are the same way in the respect that if we want something we usually just go out and buy it. Plus, we really want Christmas to be about family time instead of presents and we want it to be that way for our Children as well. Sophie is going to be 12 months old this Christmas but we really aren't going to get too much for her because seriously, does a 12 month old baby really know what Christmas presents are? I think she would enjoy the time with Mommy and Daddy at home with her instead of a bunch of new toys!

Tandis
12-01-2006, 12:32 PM
Happy1nuv - DH and I still buy for each other, but I don't know how long that will continue once the kids are here. I know my parents don't really buy for each other, and instead call big-ticket items their "gifts." Kind of like your deck or furniture. I don't think it's scrooge-y - instead it just seems like something "adults" do ;)

Christmas - Besides getting a bond for my niece, who was born on the 26th, and a GC for her and her sister, I think I'm done shopping :D Bought everything online, except for one gift for DH which I had to go to the store. Now everything just needs to be wrapped.

Stuff - Well, we have the cribs, the dresser, the rocking chair, and the rug, along with their coming home sweaters. But that's it. My shower is on the 21st of January, so I'll see what I'm missing after that and use some GCs to buy anything else we need.

Breast pump - I registered for the Ameda Purely Yours, since it got good reviews in the Baby Bargains book.

Sneak - Glad the surgery went well and I hope you're feeling better!

Ack! A Third Trimester thread?!

I've been out of town since Tues for training and everyone who saw me today commented on how much bigger my belly was since they saw me on Monday. Parts of my lower body are starting to disappear and my inny belly button is not long for this world.

StuffWe have quite a bit of smaller sizes of clothes, two boppys, a Graco stroller, a Bjorn, a ring sling, some Playtex drop-in bottles, and some bibs that we bought at a couple of consignment sales back in the fall. My parents have called dibs on the car seat, one of my aunts has called dibs on the swing (The FP Rainforest swing - it PLUGS IN! Yea!), and DH's parents have bought us the small PnP Travel Crib/Bassinet.

We're going to wait until after the baby's here to get a crib. We're just not ready to rearrange all the furniture in our small house to find a place for it.

In other news, my DH gave me a cold he picked up last week. After two days of not being able to breathe and sleeping sitting up, I can now breathe. But I've lost my voice and both ears are stopped up so it feels like I'm under water. What I wouldn't have given for some Sudafed this week. Instead, only Tylenol and saline nose spray. Ugh.

Apparently I start the third tri tomorrow! At least that's what my ticker website said. I think some go by 28 weeks.

I had a dream that I was watching my cousin's baby and I let her head snap back, and I hurt her brain. Hmmm...could I possibly be worried about newborn wiggly heads?

I am not doing well with xmas shopping either. Maybe this weekend I can get caught up a little. But I don't get paid until Monday!

Just checking in to say hello. My hospital stay is going well so far, my DH and DD have been here each night to visit me. All in all, I can't complain too much.

Sorry I don't keep up with s/o's on this site - I do follow along with everyone though. Glad to hear everyone is doing so well.

Brink ~ It's so funny that you posted... I was thinking about you earlier today wondering how you were doing... glad to hear you're doing well!

I've spent the morning cleaning. It used to take me an hour to clean the two rooms (family room and kitchen) that we mostly live in, but between an 18 month old and being pg, it took ALL MORNING. And now I"m beat... ugh! I should go nap with nic, but what can I say... I'm addicted to the internet ;)

DH and I used to go all out, but this year we both just want it to be about the baby. There is so much we have to get and its really what we both really want this year. We'll still do gifts, just not like we used too.

Brink ~ Its so good to hear from you!!

We are also doing small gifts for each other and I'm under strict orders from dh not to spend too much on others. :p In case we need it for the baby.

What's hard is that I can't think of anything I want for myself this year, I only want baby stuff anyway.

Umm, anyone else's emotions getting wild? I did so well all through this pregnancy, and last night I started bawling because I'm afraid they won't let me eat or drink in the delivery room. Dh assured me that he would sneak me something. I am also really scared that they will make me turn my insulin pump off and take away all my control. I was reading a bunch of old threads on here and got really scared at one that was saying how bad induction is. So maybe I need to stop reading those!

You probably don't want to eat anything in the delivery room anyway (and they shouldn't let you) as it most likely could cause vomiting :(

shimmer ~ I don't think you should necessarily stop reading... it pays to be prepared and know what questions matter to you that you need to ask when you visit the hospital. Just take it with a grain of salt and do your own research... And, trust your body. At my hospital, I could've eaten/drank whatever/whenever I wanted ... they even had a kitchen that was stocked with juice/light snacks that was available to all moms/family/etc... Although... my advice: When you get your first inkling that something MIGHT be starting to happen... is a GREAT time for a good meal. Cause, you probably have a while, and you never know how long it will take and if you'll FEEL like eating/drinking at that point. You'll want to keep your strength up... and...hospital food sucks!

It really depends on the hospital and sometimes even the nurse. The only reason why they say you shouldn't eat is because in case of an emergency, there is a small chance that you could aspirate vomit in to your lungs with the anesthetic. But honestly if the dr.'s can't deal with emergencies in which the patient has recently eaten, then I don't want them working on me anyways. It's true you could throw it up, but those with morning sickness know that if you have to throw up, you're going to whether there's food in your stomach or not. It isn't the food that makes you throw up, it's the hormones. One of the many reasons we're planning to wait at home as long as possible. I really recommend packing snacks in the hospital bag. Even if you don't plan on eating during labor, you'll be starving afterwards and the hospital may or may not have food available.

christmas gifts - we were planning on doing the same as usual this year, nothing outrageous, but not keeping it really small either. But our dining room table was literally falling apart so when we went out shopping on black friday, saw the style we'd been wanting and it was half off, we bought it as our gift to each other. We'll do one small gift to each other for something to open. Dd on the other hand, well, she made out like a bandit, but did need about 90% of it

Brink - glad to hear everything is going ok at the hospital. Are you on bedrest too, or can you get up and move around if need be?

sneak - glad to hear the surgery went well, and hope you are feeling back to normal soon.

I forgot to add after my last appointment that my next one is December 20th. Nothing special, just your run of the mill appt.

I guess I am just going on prior experience. True, my last experience was 18 years ago but I vomited through 14 hours of labor after having 1/2 cup of juice that morning - and I never had morning sickness with that pregnancy! It was kind of funny b
