DH and I are looking for a toy box for all of Zeppelin's goodies. We have a wooden basket at home that would be perfect for that. However, we know he's going to chew on it (since he's still a puppy).
Is there anything we can put on the basket that will deter him from chewing, but is still safe for him? Sort of like putting soap under your fingernails so you won't bite them.
Or, should we just bite the bullet and get a plastic toy bin from the store?
TIA! :D

You can get bitter apple spray at Petsmart or Petco. Most dogs don't like that...every once in awhile there might be a dog who does like it. My parents also had a dog who was teething on the dining room chairs. They brushed Tabasco sauce on the rails of the chairs because they heard Tabasco is safe for dogs but that dogs don't like it...we had the one dog who loved Tabasco.

Hmm - tobasco. He might like it, but I can give it a whirl! Thanks Lyndsay!

Our dog is one of the few who actually liked bitter apple spray, and she will lick tabasco sauce out of our hand. The only detterant we found (recommended by our trainer) was listerine. She won't go near it and finally stopped chewing the corner of the wall.

Well, we have Scope in the house. Will that work or does it have to be Listerine?

I think any of those alcohol based mouthwashes will work. They have such a strong smell and will give a little 'burn' sensation if your pup dares to lick at it. Hope it works for you. :)
