I'm a November, but I think I'd have to start a thread for that since this one is for Sept. and Oct.
Could you include us too since we are still a fall month? :)

Groom: Kyle
Date: 9/29/07
Colors/Theme: "Fall" Ha!
Ceremony Location: Wichita, Kansas

Natasha - What are the odds that we chose the same date! Yay! According to my ticker we have 9 months 1 week and 1 day! It is going by a LOT faster than I thought it would, but I'm ready to be married already!
Danielle - I don't care if you join us! The more the merrier!
We're pretty much taking a break from planning right now until the first of the year. After new years there's a bridal fair the second weekend of January, we have a taste testing that same weekend I believe. Then we need to schedule to meet a florist. I think that's all we have planned so far in January! I picked up my dress a couple weeks ago, so it is hanging on my bedroom door! I peek in the bag every once in awhile! I haven't walked around with my veil on yet though! I'm too freaked out that I'll get it dirty!
Natasha
12-26-2006, 02:43 PM
I agree; the more, the merrier! I'll change the thread title to Fall 07 brides! So, welcome Coutney and Danielle!
Courtney--We were waiting till after the holidays to start planning, too. We're having a destintion wedding, though, so Bridal Fairs around here don't do me much good... But, there are still plans to made and deposits to be paid!
On the color/theme front, I may be changing my mind. I got my daughter this beautiful dress she wore for Christmas, and the more I looked at it, the more I thought about changing my wedding colors. It was a really pretty sage/mossy green with burnt orange and rust colored accents. I'll have to post a picture. It was so pretty, I am considering a change in theme and colors. ETA: Changed AGAIN! Black, dark red, and white, now.
And, since we are getting back into wedding planning, I am considering reviving my CC journal...
Hope everyone had a great holiday!

subscribing! Just got engaged the 24th (!!!!) and haven't picked an actual date yet, but definitely this fall :) Actually, leaning toward the weekend of September 29th/30th if we can swing it depending on availability and all. So we may have THREE weddings that weekend already :D

OK, I think I have everything updated! Yesterday was the 9 month mark to some of our weddings! I am so excited. I was playing around on behr.com to come up with a color scheme, and here is what we have decided on:

Welcome Jen!
Natasha- Love the color scheme!
Me-
My mom bought here MOB dress on Christmas Eve while we were out doing last minute shopping! Go figure! It's a dark chocolate color! Very stunning! I think I've decided to go with Red bridesmaids dresses and then just use orangeish/redish flowers to accent them! I need to meet with florists in the next few weeks to talk about ideas!

Well, I'm going to play because even though it isn't official, according to my BF/FH/whatever you want to call him, we're getting married before Christmas 2007, which would put me into this category  . Of course, I'm not doing too much planning until I get the darn proposal, but I do have a few things picked out (including my dress...I was expecting a proposal before now (which is why I sound a little snarky about Wade's intentions) and went to look at dresses, fell in love, and my sister bought it for me as a wedding gift. So it's in my closet waiting on a ring to be altered.) We've talked about October, and I'm leaning towards the 5th, but we haven't settled on anything. I want to do it on a Friday night for three reasons: 1) I live in Alabama and you just don't have things like weddings on Saturdays during football season  , 2) Wade's still in school so we won't be able to take a honeymoon right away, so I figure this at least gives us a couple of days, and 3) since God only knows when I'll actually get a proposal, I'm thinking that I might be more likely to find a great reception venue on a Friday night on short notice than on a Saturday.
Bride: Heather
Groom: Wade
Date: TBD
Colors/Theme: Beach theme (probably) - different shades of blues, silver
Ceremony Location: Probably Montgomery, AL, but that's also subject to change...

Congrats Maureen!!!
Heather...I remember being in the same boat. It took Kyle 8 months to FINALLY propose! But I wouldn't have changed it for anything....but I can say that since I'm on "this" side of the fence. So, feel free to vent and plan away...Here in Kansas, most of the reception sites are free or have a HUGE discount on Fridays and Sundays. So, kudos to you for planning that! Most vendors have discounts on Fridays too. So, you may have stumbled upon a good thing! One of my bridesmaids lives in Nashville and graduated from Auburn so I COMPLETELY understand that football comes first! Ha! Her dog even barks when she says war eagle! I just shake my head!
Me: We are going to start planning again since we took the holidays off. We have a bridal fair here next weekend. We were "supposed" to go to a taste testing this weekend, but Kyle's dad is having knee surgery and I want him to go so we'll put that off for awhile. The caterer said we don't have to make a decision until a month before the wedding so we have 7 months! I'd just like to get it done. Kyle is still hell bent on having pigs in a blanket. Whatever.
mkredhead
01-04-2007, 08:10 AM
I hear ya on the pigs in a blanket!! Tim is absolutely shocked that we have to start making plans now. He suggested we wait until spring to enjoy being engaged. Hello? I'm the one who wanted to go to Vegas! haha It's going to be great, we just need to get started.
No teenie weenies either!

We went bridesmaid dress shopping yesterday. We have it narrowed down to four. Woohoo!

You know the really funny part about planning around football? Wade doesn't get it. He hates football - I'm a college football fanatic - so he thinks its stupid that "our day isn't more important." I tried explaining that it's not ideal for the bride or the MOB to yell "Touchdown Auburn!" or "Are you kidding? What the hell was that??" in the middle of the ceremony ;) , but he thinks I'm being ridiculous! (OK, I wouldn't actually do that, but I really would miss half of the reception trying to catch up on scores and watching any game that happened to be on at that time!)
I'm kinda jealous of all the great honeymoon plans - Fiji sounds awesome!!!

Well, I emailed our wedding coordinator yesterday to get the ball rolling again. We need to start looking into flowers and cakes. We should also be looking into honeymoons too. We're still in the "talking" stages of what we want to do. Kyle just wants a beach. My mom is ready to order invitations, but it seems weird to me to have them so early. I don't know why as nothing should change, but seems so "official", ya know?

Since the last time that I posted we got all of those things done!
--Finalize florist - we put the deposit down yesterday (1.8)
--Finalize salon for day of stuff - went to book it and now I'm just waiting to hear back from the manager for the okay (Done on 1.6)
--Work on invites and STDs, which I think we will be making - we actually decided to scrap making them when I found some ones that we could print out ourselves for much less $$ (Ordered on 1.7, shipped on 1.8)
--Look into hotel block rates - did this when we were downtown on 1.6, after meeting with the florist we went to all of the prospective hotels and took a look at all of the rooms and amenities. I put in a call to the person who is in charge of the block room rates on 1.7 and I'm waiting for him to call back.
In addition we also found a flute trio to play at the wedding! I emailed the band director at my school and she actually offered up her services (and those of two other people who might also be interested). I just have to hear back about the final word from the other people and we are good to go!

Still no date....but we're getting closer. I called our church the other day to inquire about getting married there. I am not a member. They said that we would have to be members for six months before applying for a wedding. FH went over there yesterday and now we are awaiting a call from the wedding coordinator. I think that showing his face was a plus, since we go there every week.
Hopefully once we get that ball rolling, we can continue to make plans. I'd feel a lot better if we had the church and reception hall booked!!

Welll, we finalized a place and booked our ceremony/reception site. Yay! It's official now :) Next on the list is booking the photgrapher. Then I'll move on to bm dress/tuxes and flowers. And of course invitations. Am I forgetting anything? I already have a dress, and FI is taking care of the honeymoon booking since it's all on his frequent flyer and Marriott rewards points (the one perk of him working in another state and flying back and forth every week :) ).

So, we decided on a hotel and chapel in Vegas (the Excalibur). We'll be putting the deposit down in the next month or so. WooHoo! And, I have selected a bridesmaid dress. The ceremony includes the chapel, the flowers, and the photography for that portion. The catering reception includes food, drink, linen, centerpieces, that sort of thing. So, all I really need to find is a DJ for the reception, and a photographer for the reception. I am diggin' this destination wedding thing!

We have an appointment in 2 weeks to pick out a cake! Yay!
So, my mom emailed me about flowers today. She wanted to know if I have thought about silk flowers. I hadn't even thought about it, but I asked a girl I work with whose daughter is getting married 2 weeks before me and they are doing all silk flowers. She said it cuts the cost close to $2500. Sweet! So, I think we may make a trip to Michael's or Hobby Lobby and see what we are working with. I'm all about saving money. I love REAL flowers, but I don't think anyone will notice in pictures or on the day. We'll see.....
Natasha
01-18-2007, 10:37 AM
There are some girls around here (CC) who have used silk, and they were really nice. If we were having a close to home wedding, I would totally do it. But toting all those flowers to Vegas seems like a pain. Since we have so many BM's, I am thinking about having them carry silk fans. We'll see.

While my goofy BF still hasn't gotten around to actually officially proposing (I'm really starting to think he's just not ever going to - that we'll just bop along and get married and one day 5 years from now we'll have a fight about something and the best thing he'll be able to come up with is that he never proposed anyway), he wants to go with me sometime in the next couple of weeks to look at a venue we're thinking about using. It's more expensive than I want, but there are almost no options around here - it's kind of like everything else in the area. One extreme or the other - if you can afford it, you really don't want to use it, and if its somewhere you'd be OK using (maybe not even love, just OK), it's outrageously priced. And I know that a lot of people don't think that $1800 for the day is that outrageous, but I think its highway robbery, especially since it's strictly the location for 1 day, plus i think they do provide chairs and tables. Anyway, its the Oaks Plantation (http://www.theoaksplantation.net/index.html). It's a beautiful home, and I LOVE the fact that I can plan an outdoor ceremony, and if it rains, they have a beautiful room with plenty of space to move it inside without a hassle or major stress.

Thanks ladies!
Originally we were going to make our flowers, but after looking into different florists around town we decided that we wouldn't save *enough* to take on the stress of it ourselves. If you do decide to go the florist route, I def. recommend going to several different places to get quotes - and if you have something very specific in mind all the better. One florist wanted nearly $250 more for the *exact* same flowers!
We are going to make our invites too. Now *that* was worth it to save money :)

I'm having to plan from Texas but thankfully his parents are in NE and able to look at things for me. We are going to have the wedding in his parents' church. We have the reception site. I found a cake I love and we are putting the bakery on reserve this weekend. I also have a florist and photographer that I just need to put the deposit down on. I'm going to Omaha in March just to look over things and Brad booked my flight for a week too late! Which, of course, he realized about 2 minutes after the flight was confirmed. So now we have to pay a change fee to switch the flight.

~~Updated to here~~
WooHoo, I have 2 date twins now!! It's so exciting to have things booked. And, we've picked our cake flavors, and are working on the menu. So, it is all pretty much done, as far as big reception decisions go.
Our cake will be two layers of chocolate cake with cherry filling, and two layers of carrot cake with cream cheese filling. It will be a pretty simply designed cake.
The frustrating thing is, the whole reason we were having an early wedding (noon ceremony) was so that we could save money on the reception and have a lunch reception. Well, it turns out their menu prices to go to dinner prices at 1 pm. So, we'd have to move the ceremony up a few hours to get lunch prices. I feel like if we're going to be paying dinner prices anyway, we should have the whole thing later, so people will be more likely to dance. BUT, if we have it later, people will be more inclined to drink, which will coast us even more... ugh.

CLW4KU--Yay! for having a honeymoon location, and a new bridesmaid! That's great!!
UPDATED TO HERE!
CLW4KU
04-03-2007, 05:31 AM
I thought I would save our thread. We picked out tuxes on Saturday. We are doing the vest/tie look. Kyle will have white, groomsmen will have black, ushers will have red. I think it'll look okay. But...that's another thing to check off the list.
I'm having hard time trying to decide what to do for the wedding night. We aren't leaving for our honeymoon until Monday, so do we get a hotel room on the first night and waste that money? Or since we aren't living together to we spend the first night at our house? I could see us having fun at both. So I don't know! Any ideas?
Natasha
04-05-2007, 09:59 AM
Either option sounds fun... If you stay in a hotel, check out is usually 11 am. If you stay at your house together for the first night, you can sleep in, and order in food that will undoubtedly be cheaper than room service! Just make sure you get your house set up before hand with great sheets, and candles!

We have to be at my parent's house by noon on Sunday anyway so we can open gifts in front of the family! So the hotel wouldn't be that big of a deal. It's just hard for me to spend ANOTHER $150 or whatever.

04-07-2007, 03:39 AM
We also had that same thought, CLW4KU, but we decided to go ahead and stay in the hotel where our reception is being held because we wanted to be downtown and close to all of the fun stuff that will be going on that night. Plus, we knew we'd be exhausted and the thought of being able to relax *right* after the reception was a bit more appealing than packing things up, driving the 20+ mins. to our house, etc.

We had so much fun at the taste testing. I'm glad we aren't doing a sit down dinner I'd have NO idea what to pick! We had a hard enough time with appetizers! HA!
Natasha
04-17-2007, 10:15 AM
Lucky, you get tasting! I'm jealous. The toughest part about a destination wedding is not getting to taste the cake or dinner before hand!
CLW4KU
04-18-2007, 05:52 AM
Yeah, we had a good time tasting! I'm done with my "checklist" for April, what a liberating feeling! Tonight I'm going to a bead party to make the bridesmaids necklaces and earrings. Yay!
Natasha
04-18-2007, 07:33 PM
How fun! I am thinking about making my BM's jewelry, too! Make sure to post pictures!
CLW4KU
04-19-2007, 12:37 PM
Bridesmaids jewelry is done! I *heart* them all! We made earrings to match the patterns in the necklaces! If I can get my camera to work I'll post them! *checking another thing off the list* Yay!
CLW4KU
05-17-2007, 06:23 AM
Flowers are done! We made 15 bouts, 12 corsages, and 5 bouquets last night! It took a little over 6 hours, but they're done!!!! Yay!
I have 2 showers set up! One is July 14th and one is August 4th! I'm sooo excited! FH and I are registering next Saturday!
DaNiGaToR
05-17-2007, 06:13 PM
How fun! My shower is a bit early (it worked best with our schedules) so it's June 2nd :)
CLW4KU
05-18-2007, 05:41 AM
That okay! I say, whatever works for you! Where did you register?
Natasha
05-19-2007, 01:44 PM
How exciting! Look at how fast everything is happening! :D
CLW4KU
05-20-2007, 01:01 PM
I seriously can't believe we're almost to the 4 month point! That's seriously just around the corner! Summer is going to fly by and then we're there! I had TWO people at church today ask if we were registered yet?! Eeek! I'm giddy excited!
JenInAZ
05-20-2007, 01:54 PM
I know, isn't it crazy???? I was just having the same realization this weekend. And people have started asking me about registries recently, too. Must be some unspoken timeline for when people start asking you things... I've had a few people ask about when we're going to have kids, too. Seriously, can we get married first??? LOL
DaNiGaToR
05-21-2007, 09:26 AM
Luckily we haven't had the "when are you having kids", but a few people are asking about where we are registered.
Two weekends ago my FMIL actually threw me a surprise shower at a tea house! She played if off as though it were a mother's day thing and it was lovely! She had people that she knew wouldn't make it to my shower in two weeks (like his aunts and grandma).
We registered at BB&B, Target, Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma. I did a bit of registry peeking and saw that things are already starting to be "fulfilled"!
CLW4KU
05-21-2007, 10:25 AM
You're a peeker huh? I can't decide what I'm going to do. My mom feels VERY strongly that I don't look. So I probably won't just for the surprise factor. I loved the William Sonoma store! I think we're just going to do Target and BB&B.
Natasha
05-21-2007, 01:21 PM
I'm a total peeker, but haven't had anything to peek at, yet. We're registered at Macy's and BB&B. It is nuts that we're almost at 4 months! I can't wait to schedule my first dress fitting!!! :p
DaNiGaToR
05-21-2007, 04:01 PM
I really try not to peek because I don't want to ruin the surprise for the showers - I know we registered for all of it, but it can still be a surprise to see what we actually get :)
I don't think I'll feel so bad to do it closer to the wedding because there will be more people - or at least that's what I tell myself, lol!
imagirliegirl
05-21-2007, 05:55 PM
Yesterday we bought our rings! I am so excited. They are sizing mine and I want it so we can take pictures of it. Brad is going to hide it from me so I need something to look at when I get lonely.
Next month we are going to Omaha to do some last minute things. Just need to meet with the church people for details and music. Everything else is done. Cake, florist, photographer, DJ, etc...
We ordered our invitations a few weeks ago so those should be in soon. I can't wait to get them! They are really simple (aka plain) but that's just what I wanted. We spent almost 400 bucks on them. I almost died of shock. Going simple doesn't mean it will be cheaper. I hate that. Oh well. It was way more than I wanted to spend but I was at the point where I liked them and I just wanted to be done.
My dress is in for alterations right now. I should have gotten a size smaller because the alterations cost almost as much as the dress.
I still think we should have eloped. :p
Natasha
05-21-2007, 10:04 PM
Yay for details! We just ordered the supplies for our invites, and we are cutting it super close. Since we're having a destination wedding, I want to get the invites out no later than the second week of June. Hee, did I mention these were very much DIY invites? :o Yeah, procrastinator should be my middle name...

05-22-2007, 12:10 PM
OH man Natasha! Are you going to have an assembly line for the invites?!
Natasha
05-22-2007, 09:13 PM
I'm using the vintage-y cards I printed out, and mounting them on Stardreams Onyx cardstock. We're also making the RSVP and info cards. It's going to be one huge headache, and we spent as much as we would have for pre-printed invites. We also ordered custom stamps... :D

Whew, today has been a busy invitations day. The actual invite has a bride and groom on it. I am hand gluing a red crystal to each groom as a bout, and adding glitter glue to every brides dress. On top of that, each RSVP gets two red crystals. And I printed these all out myself... The RSVP's are done, and I am about half way through embellishing the invitations. I still need to print out the the information cards and the RSVP envelopes. Oh, and I am debating between printing out the outer envelopes or hand addressing them...
Next week, I am taking the show on the road, and my sister and I are going up to our parents house to assemble everything. She, my s-mom and I are going to double stick tape the invites on to the onyx cardstock and stuff the envelopes... I could do it all myself this week, but they both really want to help, so I am going to try to stop being a control freak and let them help. :o So this time next week, they will be going in the mail. Whew!
CLW4KU

Damn, Natasha! You are all sorts of involved. And here I am complaining about addressing mine and you are doing something special. Actually...wanna come over to my house? Since you like to work I could for sure put you to it! Addressing, stuffing envelopes...I'd even let you pick! :D
Bridesmaid dresses are in! I have one because I'm taking it to the girl in Omaha next month. I keep meaning to take a picture. I shall do that tonight and make you all look at it. :)

Natasha LOVE the invites!! They turned out SOOOO great! I'm about to just make my own as well. I cannot for the life of me find an invitation that N and I both like. It's getting irritating, really. The stamps are great, too. What did you use to design the monogram? I love that you put the date in there, too!
Ima your ring is awesome, I agree, I love how the round look with the princess center stone. Then again I could be biased ;) How mean of your boy to hide it from you. I know I'll try mine on constantly after I get it...
and on to MY fun stuff... I finally took current pics of me in the dress :D

Oh, Jen, I ADORE your dress! It looks so pretty!
We got out monogram from Creative Montage (http://www.creativemontage.com). We paid $15 for 5 different monograms and that's the one we chose for the wedding stuff. We ordered the stamps from Zazzle (http://www.zazzle.com).
Natasha
05-31-2007, 09:43 AM
LOL, Rachelle. Bert threatened to hide mine from me, so I hid it first! :p Partially because I went through a phase of not liking it, so I had to try it on here and there to talk myself back into it.
imagirliegirl
05-31-2007, 06:14 PM
Aw well I'm glad you like it now! :)
Brad seems to think it would be bad luck to let me wear it. I was begging him to just wear it to work once so people can see it (since we're moving before the wedding!) but he said no way. He's not willing to take "the risk". Big smelly dork. I know where it is but I can't access it.

Someone please tell me how an invitation company runs out of lined envelopes during bridal season?
Natasha
06-04-2007, 05:01 PM
So dumb, dude. I hope the regular envelopes work well.
imagirliegirl
06-04-2007, 06:01 PM
I'm sure they will be fine. I just think it sucks that they make people feel like they HAVE to have these stupid ass envelopes then can't deliver.
But really, I would not be the least bit surprised if the store effed up the order and instead of admitting it they are trying to blame the invitation company. It does seem very weird that they would only have ONE color of lined envelopes left at the height of bridal season. I mean, I worked in bridal for 3 years and we never had that happen once. I almost want to find a way to contact them but I don't know if it would make a difference. It's probably too late to make it right anyway.

I went to buy stamps today and they only have lighthouses and Star Wars. Apparently there is a shortage of stamps. They won't have any nice ones until the end of June at the earliest.
So I guess I am supposed to put ugly ass lighthouse stamps on my invitations that I spent 400 bucks on. How grand. :(
DaNiGaToR
06-21-2007, 11:07 AM
I had to mail some things out today and thought the same thing when I asked about what they would have out at the end of Aug.
At least the invites will be so beautiful that no one will notice the postage. Hugs!
Natasha
06-21-2007, 11:21 AM
Oh, babe, that stinks! These invitations have been a pain in the ass through and through, huh? Can you order non ugly stamps through usps.com? Will they get there in time?
imagirliegirl
06-21-2007, 12:18 PM
I know! Why can't my invitations just go well. Hmph.
I looked on USPS and they only have the ugly stamps, too. His dad said the post office in Omaha told him that they will have Love stamps next week. So I guess we'll just pick them up from there. Guess I didn't need to pay to have those envelopes rushed after all.
I really don't want to be a brat it just really sucks. We spent money to have nice invitations then they want us to just put ugly lighthouse stamps on them? That's so dramatic and I'm sure people won't notice but I'll know.
Is it time for the honeymoon yet? We should talk about honeymoons. Where is everyone going? :D

I agree. Time to talk about honeymoons. At least you've picked invites. N and I can't agree on ANY! so annoying. Really, it's not a HUGE deal for me, but I want them to at least be a little cool... Doesn't zazzle have some great already in there designs? I thought a lot of them were really cute. I just used the plain old ugly liberty bell ones for my save the dates, but for the real invites, cute stamps would be fun...
So I've gotten some major things done lately... ordered the BM dresses and finally put the deposit down with the florist. We've been playing phone tag for weeks. Glad my date didn't book up! She's been very patient with my work busy-ness the past few months. Heck I went in mid march and am just now putting down the deposit. Bad bride! And I'm scheduling a tux appt for next weekend. We've just still gotta find someone to actually marry us. That was supposed to be his job, but who's doing it? His excuse: I don't know how to find one. Seriously? Google? I know about as many wedding officiants as he does. silly boy.
I'm also starting to have some drama. Self created, no less. I'm not so much digging the dress... and I'm super peeved about this because I've been begging my mom since JANUARY to help me try it back on and she finally drags her lazy a$$ up here the end of May. So now there's no way I could even get a new dress by then. It's a beautiful dress, I'm just not feeling it. It's too big and poofy and honestly, it's so heavy that I have sharp kidney pains after wearing it for like 10 mins. Luckily my sister gave me a good little pep talk so I'm feeling better about it but still. It's a bummer...

Sorry you're not liking your dress. That sucks. Maybe you will change your mind. I went through a time where I hated mine too. :(
Doesn't zazzle have some great already in there designs?
The stamps? The ones I ordered are just standard. I didn't customize them at all. I hope they come fast! They said 24 hour processing and I chose 2 day shipping but they haven't shipped yet.
Good luck picking invitations. It was a real PITA for me too. I sort of wish I would have picked some cuter ones. But oh well, now they are here and I'm happy they are.

Oh goodness, I feel you on not digging your dress. I went through that drama in March. The sad conclusion I came to was, there is no perfect dress for me. But, I really like the one I got, and I'll feel pretty in it, so I'll make do. If you still feel pretty in your dress, I think that is key. And, if you decide you hate it, there's always David's.:o

That's true! They have such large stock and some really reasonable prices! I was also at the Alfred Angelo store the other day and they apparently have styles you can get in 2 weeks. Not to mention a crap load of dresses in stock.

Dress: I haven't tried mine on since last September or October when I got it! I'm afraid I've gained some weight, so I've just been putting it off. Why can't I be one of those brides that STOPS eating? Instead I shove EVERYTHING into my mouth! Gotta love it!

We did it, you guys! We FINALLY ordered invitations!! Nothing like waiting to the last minute, eh? Here they are (they can't show a custom preview because it's not a traditional format, I guess)
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i173/kaytegreen/wedding/invites.jpg
Honestly, at this point I don't really care what they look like, I'm just glad to have them. N is happy there are no flowers or scripty fonts (I know... apparently the boy doesn't get that they're WEDDING invitations... They're supposed to be fancy!) and I'm happy because they're actually a bright springy green, not olive or moss. Let's hope they're nice when we get them since I didn't want to waste time on ordering a sample first... The STD's were a lot flimsier than I expected, so I hope that doesn't happen again...
Off to go get ready so I can go MOB dress shopping with my momma today :D

JenInAZ
07-10-2007, 09:29 AM
dani, you get more than one tasting???? lucky girl!
Thanks for the comps on the invite, girls, they're quite a weight lifted off my shoulders. Best thing about them, it was a set price for everything rather than this for hte invites, that for the rsvp, more for the addressed envelopes. So that made it easy. And I'm being a big cheater and just printing labels to address them. My family is NOT going to be aware that's a big Emily Post no-no. Lucky for me :) The only thing that I don't like about them is that I didn't really want our parents names on them as they aren't really hosting, but whatever. We were just going to say "together with their parents, J & N invite you blah blah blab) but this design doesn't allow for that. Oh well, procrastinators can't always be choosers, now can we?
We found a few MOB dresses, but still looking. My mom has really big boobs, and that's presenting a problem. I don't want her boobs hanging out at my wedding, ya know? But we also both like more summery garden looking dresses, so there's only so much the poor woman can do. I have exactly the opposite problem. I have to have extra boob put in my dress...

We had two tastings because they didn't have one of the things that we were thinking about having available the last time. Lucky for us though! The place is amazing and we'll take every free meal we can get there, lol! :)
We've decided on the entrees, now we just have to choose the salad. What a silly thing to be deciding on though! We are going back and forth about the mixed green salad with tomato vinegrette dressing or the spinach salad with feta and candied walnuts. Surprisingly I *loved* the spinach salad (which is actually their most popular), but I'm worried about people with food allergies and the walnuts. Any suggestions?
JenInAZ
07-11-2007, 09:31 AM
I didn't even think about that... My salad has walnuts. Are you doing menus at each table/place setting? if so, make sure to point out there's nuts in the salad. I don't think most people will really care if they miss the salad. If it makes you feel better, I have a guest at my wedding who's literally allergic to every fruit and vegetable on God's green Earth. I kid you not, even lettuce and watermelon. I pity his wife having to feed him...
I so wish I could have another tasting at my place, it was SOOO yummy. I often joke with N that we should just start randomly making tasting appt's at cake places. They'd never know ;) LOL
DaNiGaToR
07-12-2007, 06:38 AM
I hadn't planned on doing a menu for the reception because it's plated and each person at the table may be getting a different entree. Plus everything is pretty standard - entree, mashed potatoes and veggie. Although, after talking to my mom, she suggested going with just the regular salad because not everyone likes spinach. There is an option to go with that and have the walnut salad for just Carl and I - which we may do because it was just so good!
OMG that poor guy! I can't imagine being allergic to all of that stuff...even watermelon and lettuce?! Yikes!

07-15-2007, 05:24 PM
Honestly, I wouldn't worry that much. You'll never please everyone's palate 100% and I doubt most people would care if they didn't like the salad, or a side dish or whatever. Heck, we aren't even giving people a choice. :p I do love that they'll do special stuff for just you guys. Our place is doing FI's steak different than everyone else's because he's picky

I'm hoping that a lot of people show up just for the host's pride. They've put a LOT of effort into it. My sister and another bridesmaid are planning it and EVERYTHING is a secret. I guess she asked FH all kinds of questions and Kyle was like, "you aren't going to know the answers so stop guessing." I was like WHAT? Why would you answer questions KNOWING I wouldn't know the answer?!?! So, I'm hoping I'm not completely embarrassed. Oh well! I love games though, so it should be fun! Only 66 days!!!!

What are you doing to relax before the wedding?
Three days before the wedding we're going to the beach with all of our friends who are coming down early (I may only go for a half day if I've got too much to do). Two days before the wedding I'm going for an afternoon with my oldest/closest friends to a spa where we will relax and all get spa treamtments that we've chosen (we actually had to book this several weeks ago). The day before the wedding is reserved to hang out with family and friends. The night before the wedding is my bachelorette party! (Very few of my friends drink, and neither do I, so no worries about a hangover.) ;) The day of the wedding, I'm afraid, is going to be VERY, VERY busy though!

I know! I get to check out the 10 day forcast tomorrow, lol. I don't know how you ladies could concentrate at all at work these last few weeks. I just keep telling myself that I only have to make it until next Wed. and then I'm off until after Thanksgiving, lol!
