Hey Everyone,

I am making the hardest decision in my life and sending my mother back to West Virginia (where she's from) to live for awhile while my DH and I get our finances in order.

What I am in need of help with:
*Finding a realtor (prefer one you've worked with) to help me find the house for my mom to live in (which I will be purchasing). This house will be sight unseen in person. I would like a realtor that is going to send me pictures and be honest with its condition. Does it need just new paint? Does it need a new kitchen? Is the basement a reck? Etc...Someone completely trust worthy.
(I am looking at the Charlston and Fairmont areas right now - subject to change)

*Any information available on assistance for older people to get to doctors. My mom can drive but let's face it, living in CA for over 30 years, she lost how to drive in snow or rather rainy conditions. Is there a service (public and/or private) that is relatively inexpensive that she would call for pick ups and drop offs? (Areas: Charlston, Fairmont, and Ravenswood)

I think that's it for now - or that I can at least think about. I have SO much going thru my mind that its hard to think clearly. Hoping to get some answers ASAP as I would REALLY like to speak to an agent quickly. I am hoping to have this all done within the next 30 days!!

I appreciate your help!!!

When we needed a realtor to find us a house in VA, the realtor we were using to sell our house in WA found us one. Have you contacted a realtor you know in your area to see if they can hook you up with someone trusty in WV?

Kim - Where aren't you!! LOL I see you all over the place missy. Thanks for the help...I don't know anyone here in SoCal. I might do some research tomorrow - work seems to be getting in the way right now, quite frustrating.

I just got that off the web page. He works for Old Colony Real Estate her in Charleston and is just a dream. I did not know this area at all and he would pick me up every day in front of my office and take me to look at houses. He was amazing. I was buying the house all on my own at the time and it would have been a frightening process without Allen. You can trust this man. I promise you that. Tell him Heather W. sent you!!

In Charleston, there is a very active bus service. I am an attorney for low income families and lots of my clients take the bus all over the place. I really like living in Charleston. I would not want to live in a more rural part of the state. I would feel too isolated.

Heather - I SO appreciate your response!! I will call him up on Monday (after I've spoken to my mom about which areas she would like to live). Charleston may prove to be a good option.

Her sister lives in Fairmont (where their family grew up) however, I don't want them in the same town. My aunt made that pretty clear. I was thinking Clarsburg, close but not too close so we'll see.

My mom was pretty clear that she wants to live in a place that has a hospital and doctors that are convenient. I am off to research Charleston. I've been to WV many times and do you know, I've never been to Charleston.

Again, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

And like Kim, I recognize your name too!! Funny. Glad to be seeing some familiar faces around the boards.

Deb

Hey HEW?B - Things are going. We found a realtor. We are actually trying to purchase my grandmothers house (didn't know my mom would want to do that - it was her MIL's house). So now we are in the process of trying to get the financing - which is more difficult that I thought it would be.

Driving my mom and her dog to CO on Saturday (will take us 2 days to get there). She will be staying with my cousin in the meantime. Hopefully we get the house if not, we will be renting a family house. At least we now have options - whereas before (last week) we didnt'. So things are as well as can be.

Thank you for checking up - I've just been so busy getting everything together AND preparing for Thanksgiving (which will just be for 3 of us).

Hope you and your family have a Wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday as well.

Deb
