Does anyone else watch this? I got addicted while watching with DH last year. Now I make sure to watch every Sunday night and then reruns on Cartoon Network. I've lent out my DVDs to a couple of people and when they returned them I was told they didn't find it funny.

Dh and I started watching this way back in 1999 when it premiered after the super bowl. We're watching right now, actually.

It's one of those shows that you either get, or you don't. Personally, we love it, but we're a.) not easily offended b.) pop culture junkies c.) have an absurd sense of humor.

You're not alone :)

What?? Someone doesn't like Family Guy??

I started watching it from the beginning too...I'm from RI (where the show takes place) so it has a special place in my heart!!! hehehe. They have the accents and local idiosyncrasies down to a science!!!! I agree with Aimee - it seems to have a particular sense of style/format, so some just might not see the humor in it. It's a shame, b/c they're missing out!!

DH was there from the beggining and I jumped on the FG bandwagon in 2003 when we started dating. Actually, I think we watched FG on our first date! lol It was VERY romantic.. ;)

I actually have to admit that I was a little nervous with the first couple of episodes, it seemed like they were trying a little too hard, but then the comedy seemed to relax a little bit, so I'm back to being a happy camper! :D

Watching right now!! Listening to Mark laugh his ASS off!! :D It still *kinda* surprises me that it's on network tv and not cable, but I guess it shouldn't surprise me.

we watched it on and off when it was first on tv a few years back. then i got the dvds as a gift two years ago and we've been hooked ever since. we watch religiously. the newest episodes are funny, but i think i like the dvds better so far... i don't know why exactly... just seems like they're trying even harder to be gross and outrageous as opposed to just plain random...

now, american dad, that show i don't like. funny but too much a family guy rip off.

*LOVE* Famiy Guy!!!:D Own two box sets & re-watch these all the time, along with episodes on TV when I can catch them...I was thinking maybe we all just have the same deranged sense of humor, but I've decided that the others are the strange ones, not us. :p hehe

My DH and I LOVE Family Guy! It is one of the few original shows left out there. We watch it religiously. Brian just slays me!

Agreed and agreed. The new episodes of Family Guy are definitely funny, but it does seem that they're trying to get back into their groove.

I love Family Guy. It is so completely random (like Chris being pulled into the A-Ha video at the grocery store last night). I think that because DH and I are around the same age as Seth McFarlane, we get a lot of the humor and culture references, but if for someone a lot older or a lot younger, they'd be like "Huh?"

We've been watching Family Guy since '99 and love the humor/cultural references (DH just about spewed dinner everywhere laughing at the older episode where they get put in the witness protection program in the "deep south" - lots of Dukes of Hazzard references that were hilarious.)

We are easily amused and love the humor - and that you have to be remotely intelligent to GET the humor - but remind me to never try to watch it with my parents again. LOL :p

Glad to see I'm not alone. My DH and I love the flashbacks and rewatch episodes to see if we can find new references. We're constantly arguing over whether or not Stewie is gay.

I watched this with my dad one time and he LOVED it! He goes on and on now about "that show with that football-headed man-child," which I find nearly as funny as the show!

Favorite episodes, scenes or quotes, anyone?

Love this show! :D My brother introduced me to it and I am trying to catch up on all of the old shows that I missed.

Of course, now that I watch it, I can't help but hear Stewie's voice in my head every time my son babbles at me. :p

I have been watching it since they first aired a few years back. Thanks to the Cartoon Network that shows them nightly, They are now bringing back new episodes.

I think now they are trying too hard.. Sometimes I turn from it if they get out of hand with their humor...

Dh and I have been watching from the get-go too. The Ah-ha sequence was hysterical! We always watch on Sundays and on the Cartoon Network when we go to bed. Stewie is my fav :p

I KNOW!!! I loved it, too! DH had me rewind the tape so we could watch it again! "Where were you?" "I don't know!!!!"

I love Stewie, too! DH found me a t-shirt at Hot Topic that has Stewie with a mullet, tattoo, in just a diaper and it says, "Delightfully White Trash"! I LOVE it! :D

Question About The Into & What Stewie Says!!!!

Okay...what does he say in the intro...."All the things that make us laugh an' cry" or "All the things that make us effin' cry" ?? DH and I have argued over it! He says Stewie ALWAYS says, "laugh an' cry" and I say that he sometimes says them both (he said "effin' cry" on Sunday's). So...what do ya'll hear? Any websites with official words? Thanks! :)

I always wondered this as well. I believe I read somewhere (I know it was a FG website but not the official one) that during the early days closed captioning thought Stewie was "effin' cry" but it's since been fixed and he does in fact say "laugh an' cry." I'll see if I can find this and post the link.

ETA: Found it! From www.familyguyfiles.com
14. Does Stewie sing "Laugh & Cry" or "F'in Cry" during the title song?

Depends on who you ask. Seth has said on NUMEROUS occassions: "It was NEVER 'F'ing cry' .. it was ALWAYS 'laugh & cry'." However, there is a DISTINCT change in the intro that cannot be contested. So, one of two things ... 1) It REALLY WAS "F'in Cry" and Fox put a gag order on Seth - and they DID change it to Laugh & Cry 2) It was ALWAYS Laugh & Cry and the first version SOUNDED so much like "F'in Cry", that to avoid ambiguity, they changed it DISTINCTLY to Laugh & Cry. Official word: "Its always been 'Laugh & Cry'." Personally I think something else might be going on. However - a new point to consider - most Closed Captioning text showed "EFF'ING CRY" as the translation. So, we may never know.

They have Stewie doing alot of crazy mess!

I remember there have been a couple of episodes that they had Stewie laying in bed with baby girl as if they just had sex..... And I think they did one recently on the lines of that....

Anyone else seen the movie yet? We, um, gained access to it, through a friend. I think it comes out in October or November. It's kinda like 4 episodes put together, but very funny.
ONly an hour and a half until the new episode. I'll also be watching the Simpsons, and the new show, The War at Home.

Ummm...I haven't, but a "friend" has, and says it's hysterical. He also says we, I mean he, will be purchasing it as soon as it comes out!

Oh...funny sidenote: I had to explain the "sheep" reference to one of our friends tonight! I was laughing about it and he said, "Ummm, I didn't really get that!" :D

They did a little promo for it during tonight's episode. It's called "Stewie Griffin, the Untold Story," and will be out on DVD only, sometime in Oct I think.

I have a question--in which episode did Peter FIRST fight that chicken? DH has never seen it (I have, for some reason...), and wondered about why the chicken came out of nowhere to fight with Peter in another episode!
