I just found mold in our wipes warmer. Ew. This is after finding the sponge at the bottom brown and "burning" (even with the container being moist inside) about a month ago. I am tossing the thing and wanted to warn other "to-be moms".

I realize now that I'm writing this, that I should have thoroughly cleaned out the thing on a weekly basis. That would have wasted a lot of wipes and taken too much time. Please take this post just as a FYI.

Wipe warmer, had it and hated it, by the time you got to the bottom half of the wipes they would be dry and brown, it would cause mold to grow on the bottom half of the wipes and you wouldn't know it til you got down to them, I just hold the wipe in my hands for a second or two at the most and it gets it to room temp, ds doesn't mind at all.

I've used the prince lionheart wipes warmer for over a year now and never had a mold problem. I don't wash mine out each week, either. I do use the newer sponge things that are supposed to be antibacterial, though.

I also have the prince lionheart warmer and have never had a mold (or anyother) problem. I don't clean it weekly (I wasn't aware that you were supposed to) but I do change the pad inside a lot.
Sorry you had such a problem with yours!

They sell 2 packs of refills. You are supposed to change them every 3 months, I probably do it every 2. Every time I refill the wipes, I rinse out the sponge thing, re-wet it and stick it back in there.

O.k., I have the Prince Lionheart and it's been in *almost* daily use for over 3 years (we had a brief break between kids in diapers of just a couple of months).

I've NEVER had mold or slime, NEVER had to clean it out and NEVER used the sponge things previously mentioned (never actually seen those to tell the truth!). I've also never had wipes dry out or discolor at the bottom.

The only difference I can come up with is that I use re-usable wipes in my own solution of water, Dr. Bronner's soap and tea tree oil. I suspect the tea tree oil is what keeps the nasty stuff at bay. So, if anyone is inclined to make their own wipes (either disposable or reusable), that would probably eliminate many of the issues.

I have a wipes warmer as well and never had mold and never cleaned mine. We are getting ready to get a new sponge because they are supposed to be changed every 3 months. We rewet our sponge about every week or so. Sometimes, the bottom wipe will get a brown tinge to it if we've not rewet the sponge enough but that's it. I LOVE MY WARMER!
