Anyone?

aww well. This is Jim Thorpe, PA (http://www.innjt.com/jim_thorpe.html). I'm just fascinated by this old, charming town and hoped someone could give us tips on restaurants and tours. But it looks like nobody here has been there....

I've been there :) We stayed at the Jim Thorpe Inn and did the Ski and Stay package, so we didn't spend much time in the town. It is a charming old town though and I defintely think worthwhile for a weekend trip. Very European-like with narrow streets up the side of the mountain. We had a really nice dinner though I can't recall the name of the place.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, if I think of anything else I'll let you know. But if you're close, it's a nice weekend getaway!

ETA...I think the restaurant may have been Black Bread Cafe (http://blackbreadcafe.com/)

Thank you for the link! I've heard only good things about the town.
We don't live far and we'll be going there to ski as well, but since we'll be staying in Jim Thorpe I want to walk around the town. There's a lot of history there and I love that!

We've been there a few times for concerts at Penn's Peak, and they were good. It's too close for us to actually do the tourist thing, though, so I can't really tell you much from that angle. We walked around town, but a lot of it was old-style stores with crazy hours (like being closed three hours for lunch or not being open random days) so there wasn't much to do other than walk the streets.

We also stayed at the Inn, and it was a quaint old place, but a little claustrophic for me. It's one of those places built when people were a lot smaller--narrow hallways, tiny doors.

We honeymooned at one of Caesar's Pocono Resorts. It was Paradise Stream. We went back later for a get away. It was wonderful! It's well worth the money! It's all-inclusive (and all you can eat--even on steak and lobster night!!! :D ) except for alcoholic drinks. I'd recommend it to anyone! On our honeymoon, we stayed in the Champagne Towers suite (but used the heart shaped swimming pool more because we didn't have to wait to fill it). On our second trip, we stayed at the Garden of Eden Apple suite. I still loved the trapeziod shaped swimming pool in the room there!
