View Full Version : WW & Working Out - Let's Be Accountable...

Well, it's worth a try, right. How about a support thread where we post that we've worked out?

I'll give it a go...I did Leslie Sansone's Walk Kick 30 minute work out. You don't feel like you're working out super hard, but then when you're all said and done, and cooling down, you realize you're dripping in sweat, dying for water and still all revved up.

Oops, I just realized this is the WW forum. I'm not on WW--sorry 'bout that.

I just did my LS Walk Kick tape again. I was planning to take the dog and walk to my polling booth, but we're looking at highs in the low 90's today and I'm just not up for 2 showers an hour apart.

I did only my two smoke-break walks today (about 15 minutes each, I round down to 10 minutes each) and I had nachos for lunch! I definitely can't miss my elliptical tonight.

I really want to try my Pilates DVDs again, but they are so frustrating. I can't do the moves and still see the TV, and I'm sure not going to watch 100 times to memorize it!

Katy
11-07-2006, 01:29 PM
that was always my challenge with both yoga and pilates. I keep saying that I'm going to try them again, but I just can't seem to get motivated to give it a go again.

This is a good thread! I went to the gym this morning (barely managed to drag my butt out of bed) and did 20 mins cardio and 20 mins weights. Tonight I have my yoga class that I'm loving - who knew yoga would be a workout, but it definitely leaves me feeling like I've used my muscles.

Great thread!

This morning, I did 15 minutes (3.8 miles) on the exercise bike, 5 minutes on stair climber, 20 lunges, and 30 minutes weight training.

I earned 5 APs.

I was pretty low key this weekend. I did quite a bit of walking (and shopping) on Saturday out in Santa Monica. And today I took the dog out for a 40 minute, brisk, brisk walk (using my bike workout mix which is *way* fast beat).

I walked around the air show yesterday for five hours, but you could hardly call it exercise, though tell that to my legs today! I didn't manage the gym this morning, which is bad, but I do have yoga on Wednesday and I need to get back to the gym as it helps me get through the day if I workout in the morning. But, oh, getting up at 5:30am... bleurgh!

udsweetpea
11-13-2006, 07:43 PM
Tonight I did the treadmill for 20 minutes at 3.0 incline and 3.8 speed and the elliptical for 20 at around 78 RPM. I was already hurting from the weigh lifting I did yesterday, so tonight's was a hard workout to get through!

Katy
11-13-2006, 08:26 PM
well, not counting lugging cases of books around all day, including up and down stairs...I just now returned from a brisk 40 minute walk - funny how I went further today than yesterday, but still managed to be gone the same amount of time.

udsweetpea
11-15-2006, 11:37 AM
Last night, I did a 15 minute warm-up on the treadmill at 3.8 and 3.0 incline. Then, I did 30 minutes of weight training and ab work.

I did two 20-minute brisk walks today so far. I hope to get another one in this afternoon.

I've been slacking on my PT knee exercises for three days now. I MUST do them if I'm ever going to get back on the elliptical.

I completely forgot about this thread!

Today, I did 20 minutes on the stationary bike at Level 5 and 15.6 mph, 20 minutes on the treadmill at 2.0 incline and 4.0 speed, and 5 minutes of bicep work.

Last night I did 20 minutes on the stationery bike (5.3 miles) and 20 minutes on the treadmill at 3.9 speed and 2.0 incline. Also did some weight lifting in between.

This morning we did a 1 hour 40 minute hike (approx. 5 miles).

I'm positive that some of you ladies have worked out since the last post (Dec. 20). Post it here so we can keep each other motivated :)

I haven't yet decided if I'm going to head to the gym or if I'll do a DVD at home (I have the Biggest Loser DVD to check out OR a bunch of WATP ones to choose from).

Are you talking about just today or everyday?

Katy
01-05-2007, 04:13 PM
Just for today. I usually switch up what I'm doing. I either do an hour walk with the dog, or a workout DVD, or I head to the gym for 40 minutes/21-ish laps or 30 mins/11 miles on the stationary bike.

It usually depends how much time I have in the day and how hard I feel like working. If that makes sense.

Foley42

Can I join in here?

I have been doing a 1-mile WATP every day since Monday. Today I did the Walk & Kick (thanks, Katy!) - I really liked it. I also ordered some of the other WATP DVDs so I can get some variety.

We are still basically snowed in here in Denver - a lot of the sidewalks aren't plowed and it's been cold - so I can't go anywhere w/ my DS because he needs a stroller. So I am loving the WATP!

You're welcome!! I told you you'd love it! Oh and the reason I was able to get rid of it was because Target offers (a not so easy to find) WATP 5 workout combo DVD called 5-Day Fit Walk

It's rare enough that I wasn't able to find a picture of it, so if you can find it, I say grab it!

I stepped on the treadmill yesterday for the first time since before DD was conceived (I really barely worked out between my May 05 wedding and Nov 05 conception and in that time gained back the 25 lb I lost for the wedding)

Last night I did the Walk 'N Jog for 30 mins. When the DVD was done, I wasn't, so I went downstairs and jogged on the treadmill for another 13 mins. Earned 4 APs! I was singin' the James Brown song "I Feel Good!" Not feeling so good this morning, but oh well. lol

For the past week, the hubby and I have been going out for 2 mile walks in the evening before bed (more energy spent in trying to keep us warm). Also tonight, we'll be hitting up two different club shows and will require some walking up and down those Hollywood Hills.

I did a 2 mile WATP with weights for about half of it today. I used 1lb weights - it definitely was harder with them! My goal is to exercise at least 4x a week for 6 weeks. This is week 3 and I am on track.

I must check out these WATP things... though I'm horrible with videos.

Jenny - don't you just love the elliptical machine? My favorite at the gym... it's either that or the Stairway to Hell (that revolving set of steps, I don't know the real name!).

DH and I finally got back to the gym:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday - 40 cardio (bike and treadmill) - I'm studying for an exam so I'm skipping the weights and using the machines I can read on
This weekend - either hiking or biking, depending on our mood

I won't be doing much of anything for the next day or so. Yesterday, I was out with the dog, strutting my stuff while listening to my iPod and BAM! I fell :o I did some pretty messy damage and regardless of what my x-rays end up saying my doctor has already expressed that I'll need to stay off my exercising feet for a while.

I'm going to have to try something other than walking and WATP for a week or so. Even though I'll be able to walk and move about freely, I'll still have all that scabbing pulling at my leg/knee. Any suggestions? I'm thinking maybe some balance ball work.

Katy - can you swim? I know it's winter but if you're in SoCal, it might be possible. I would think that would help the healing...

I went to the gym today, which was an extra beyond the 3x a week DH and I agreed to. Did cardio and chest and back. Am already feeling it... :)

Katy
02-08-2007, 03:44 PM
Jules - thanks. I can swim and in fact, I DO swim quite often. Sadly, the leg got concrete burn so badly, that even just regular water touching it makes me cringe. I think my over-chlorinated pool at the gym would probably be even worse  I really think they go above and beyond with the chlorine at that place too. I'm going to start working out again on Saturday. My swelling is gone, no bruising, and no pain to the touch, but again, the doc said to take it slow for a few days. Heck, the hubby is worried that we've got a party to go to on Friday and that I might be standing too long.

I thought I'd post this here for anyone interested.

For every 100 calories you burn, you earn 1 AP point. Here is a calculator where you enter your weight, and select the activity you do. It will give you the total calories burned.

It helped me figure out how many points a Curves work out was worth (based on my weight, it's 3 points).

Is it just me, or does anyone else get horribly hungry immediately after working out? It seems to get me every time so I try to plan for it with a cheese stick post workout, but dammit, sometimes that's just not enough. Does this happen to anyone else? What in the world do you do to work around it?

WestieMomma
04-17-2007, 04:21 PM
Katy I usually work out in the evening and then have dinner after but the next morning I am always starving after I've worked out the night before. Maybe try eating a piece of fruit and the cheese or something with more protein-peanut butter/apple, a slice or two of turkey. I think the fat in the cheese helps though but extra protein may sustain you longer. What time of the day do you work out?

Does anybody here wear one of those pedometer gadgets? I was thinking of getting one, hoping to encourage myself to get up and walk more often (like during lunch hours) to supplement my gym schedule and riding the exercise bike at home. I'm just not sure if they're worth it...?

Katy
04-24-2007, 02:14 PM
Snow, we just ordered a pedometer (with an alarm) the other day. Sadly, it's on backorder. I go nuts when I go walking without a watch to see how far I've gone and I'm tired of having to drive my path to check out the mileage. Ask Southerner about them since I know she uses one on the nights she's at the restaurant.

As for my recent workouts, the hubby and I have been going out walking for 45-60 minutes 5 or more days a week. On top of that, I'm usually doing some workout on my own at home, as well. Today I tried yoga, but quickly realized that I was WAY over my head - but man, do I still feel it!
