View Full Version : LA Weight Loss?
I searched but didn't find a thread, please bump if I'm just missing it!!
I'm wondering if LA Weight Loss has any kind of an initiation or start-up fee. Anyone on this program and care to share their experience?
Thanks!

I am currently on LAWL. The startup fee depends on whether they are running a special. Also, you need to know that there are 2 different types of centers. There are corporate and franchise, they run different specials and from what I've heard are run somewhat differently also.
The startup fee I paid was $65 I believe but I know my center had an open house last week and was offering no startup. I would definately check the LAWL website because there are usually coupons on there. Also, you will pay for all of your weightloss weeks up front - I paid $8/week - the special at my center last week at the open house was $5/week and I've heard different prices at different places around the country. They will figure how many weeks you need to purchase based on a 2lb/week average. So they take the amount you want to lose and divide by 2 and then pressure you to buy that many weeks. They also want you to go through a year of maintenance so that you are more successful at keeping the weight off.
I will tell you I have had great success on LAWL. I have lost 75 lbs in about 10 months. However, I wasn't real happy about having to pay for everything upfront. They will also push you to buy their protein bars and even offer you a money back offer if you keep your weight off for a year you get half of your money back. The bars are very expensive and unless you know that you will need some type of sweet snack during the day I don't recommend them. Others that use them love them, I just wasn't a fan.
The plan they put you on is a very balanced plan where they consider your height, weight, lifestyle, how much you want to lose, etc. and then put you on a plan with a certain amount of veggies, fruit, starches, proteins and yes, good fat they also give you certain portion sizes to use for the servings.
I found this to work better for me than weight watchers because it is so much more strict. When I tried the WW points stuff I could find ways to eat junk and stay within my points so I wasn't losing after the first 10 lbs - this basically forces you to get variety which is good if you have a problem with doing that otherwise. Also, all of your weigh-ins are 1 on 1 with a counselor but you are supposed to go 3 times a week -- I like not having the group thing and being able to sit and discuss your plan after you weigh. Getting there 3 times a week can be hard but it is worth it because it helps you see what foods or other things you are sensitive to by seeing the fluctuations in your weight on a regular basis.
Sorry this was so long but I hope it helps you make a decision that will work for you. If you have any more questions you can message me and I will do my best to answer them. I also have other resources I can get to you if you want to hear from others that are doing LAWL.

Bumping because I am considering this.
The website claims to give you a grocery list of foods you can eat. Is that true? I can get most of the foods at a regular grocery store?
I am about an hour from the nearest one, so would I really have to check in 3x a week?
Thanks!
