Tips and Tricks
Borrowed from The Maybe Mamas
This is a collection of tips, not a to-do list. If it's your first month, take a deep breath and see what your body can do by itself! Of course, some of these are good ideas even during your first month-- like taking PNV for 3 months prior to BD. Use your common sense!
CM supporting tricks
Grapefruit juice: Supposedly helps boost CM production. Plus, it's just good for you.
Robitusin: Robitussin is a brand name of a product that is based on guaifenesin, an expectorant. There are other guaifenesin based cough syrups also (Equate also has one). It is used in TTC to thin the CM mucus to make it more sperm-friendly. 1-2 tsp. twice daily until ovulation. Make sure the product only contains guaifenesin without added decongestants or antihistamines, which could dry your CM. BEWARE extromethorphan, an ingredient in some cough medicines, may cause birth defects. (from: tryingtoconceive.com)
Green Tea: Reputedly also helps with EWCM. Drink as much as possible starting CD1 up to O. I think there are also capsules out there. Consider decaf if you don' usually have caffeine.
Stop taking antihistamines: Claritin, etc. dry you up. Stop taking them a couple weeks before O if you can.
Take Evening Primrose Oil: EPO is used to increase the amount of EWCM. The dose is 3000 mg once daily. Discontinue EPO when your thermal shift occurs as it can cause uterine contraction which may hinder implantation of the embryo in the uterus. (Also taken from: tryingtoconceive.com).
Nutritional Tricks
Prenatals 3+ months prior: Folic acid prevent neural tube defects
Men's multi with zinc, A, selenium for DH: Supports spermies
No Caffeine: Research shows that too much caffeine can reduce your ability to absorb iron and increase your risk for stillbirth. Avoid coffee, tea, and colas or switch to decaf to increase your chances of getting pregnant. If you are a complete caffeine junkie, then the safe limit would be a cup a day. Try switching to a milkshakes which will boost your calcium as well and assist in conception. (from babyhopes.com).
No (or little) refined sugars and carbs: because it isn't good for you? What else?
Yams: possible chemical that encourages ovulation... and maybe hyperovulation (think fraternal twins)
No Peas: from maplekitty's post on page 2: "...a study conducted in India...what they discovered was that a natural chemical found in peas - called M-xylohydroquinone - did appear to have contraceptive effects....were found to cut pregnancy rate up to 60 percent. In men, who took the pea capsule, sperm counts droped by some 50 percent."
No soy or avacados: interferes/mimics estrogen production
No peanutbutter and no spinach: Apparently they deplete calcium, which is really important in building a baby.
Pineapple during LP: Helps with implantation???
Exercise Tricks
Regular Exercise: (30 minutes 4 days a week). You shouldn't start a new exercise program when pregnant, but you can continue one; many women think it helps with labor and energy during PG
Kegel's Exercises: L&D easier, bladder control is a good thing
Tummy Crunches: L&D easier
Pre-conception Visit Issues
Rubella Vaccination:* make sure you're still immune from childhood immunizations; not a good thing to catch while PG
Renew Tetanus Shot: can't get one while PG even if you do step on a rusty nail.
Consider the cystic fibrosis testing question.: visit that link.
Consider getting a Flu Shot: Getting a really high fever in early pregnancy is no good.
Miscellaneous Tricks & Advice
Red Raspberry Leaf Tea: Helps tone the uterus and muscles of the pelvic region. Also a highly nutritive ingredient and "powerful fertility-promoting herb, especiallly when used with pepermint".
Consider baby aspirin: see tryingtoconceive.com. (End of the page.)
Start a baby/pregnancy binder: There is so much to know! Might as well use your anxious waiting time productively.
X-Rays: Get dental xrays done if it's been a long time; no xrays while PG.
Go Horseback Riding: no horseback riding while PG
Chart!: know that window of sweet fertile opportunity!
Meditate, avoid depression: supposedly helps somehow, and after reading this list you'll need to take a couple of deep breaths.
DTD Tricks
BD schedule: Statistically best to BD every fertile day so long as there is no sperm count problem (according to TCOYF).
Hips up, headstands, general pelvic up body contortions:go spermies, go! Hey, it can't hurt.
Morning Nookie: Higher sperm counts in the morning
Get turned on:: the more aroused the woman, the better environment for conception?

Common TTC abbreviations
This is a list of some of the more common TTC abbreviations. I know as a newcomer to the TTC threads, it can be hard to keep them all straight. I hope these will help, and if anyone has any they would like added, please let me know!
2WW: "2 week wait" - The approximate time from possible conception to menstruation due date; Pregnancy tests should be taken near the end of the 2WW.
AF: "Aunt Flo"; Your period; Menstruation
AFNW: "Aunt Flo Not Wanted"; the day your period is expected to start, but you are hoping it doesn't!
AO: anovulatory (cycle without ovulation)
BBs: "boobs"; breasts
BBL: "be back later"
BBT: Basal Body Thermometer; This is used to measure your basal body temperature, when you wake up in the morning, after at least 3 hours of sleep, before you start to move around; Use a special BBT thermometer to take your temperature because they measure the small changes in temperature from day to day more accurately than the regular fever thermometers.
BCP: Birth control pills
BD'ing: "baby dancing"; baby-making intercourse
BFN: "Big Fat Neutral" or “Big Fat Negative”; Negative pregnancy test.
BF'ing: breast-feeding
BRB: "be right back"
CD: cycle day; a particular day in your menstrual cycle (example: CD1 is the first day of your period)
CL: Cover Line; a visual tool used to separate the low (pre-ovulatory) temps from high (post-ovulatory) temps; a coverline is typically based on the temperatures 6 days prior to ovulation.
CM: cervical mucous; one of the most useful clues your body can give you in predicting your fertility; it can range from dry, creamy, sticky, or (the most fertile) egg white/watery type.
CF: cervical fluid; same as cervical mucus
CP: cervical position; an optional, but sometimes really useful, fertility sign; CP will generally be low, firm and closed before and after ovulation, and high, soft and open during your fertile time.
DD: "dear daughter"
DH: "dear husband"
DS: "dear son"
DPO: Days Past Ovulation; number of days from your post-ovulatory temperature rise. (Example: 1DPO is the day after your ovulation)
Endo: endometriosis (can be a fertility problem)
EDC and EDD: estimated date of confinement (antiquated, but still used by physicians) and estimated date of delivery
EPT: a brand of pregnancy test, or, generic for "early pregnancy test"
EW or EWCM: egg white cervical mucus; the most fertile quality CM; it is slippery, clear and stretchy, like egg whites; also EWCF
FAM: Fertility Awareness Method; the method of fertility and/or birth control that correlates the physical changes you experience during your cycle to predict when you are most fertile
FF: Fertility Friend, an online (free, for basic services) fertility charting site (website); (could also be formula feeding; check context)
FM: fertility monitor
FMU: first morning urine
FP: follicular phase; the phase before ovulation, where the egg matures in the ovaries
FRED: First Response Early Detection (pregnancy test)
HCG: human chorionic gonadotropin; the hormone that is present during pregnancy and what the HPT's and blood test measure to determine if you are pregnant
HTH: "hope that helps"
HPT: home pregnancy test; a urine pregnancy test you can take at home
IMHO: "in my humble opinion"
IMO: "in my opinion"
IUI: intra-uterine insemination
IVF: in vitro fertilization
KU: knocked up
LH: leutenizing hormone; the LH surge is what is measured by the OPKs; this hormone signals the egg to burst from the ovary
LP: luteal phase; the phase of your cycle that begins just after ovulation and continues for 10-18 days, ending with the start of your next period; during the LP, your body continues to build up the lining of your uterus, and produce hormones which would support a pregnancy; this is the time when a fertilized egg can implant into the uterine lining
MBFP Mystery big fat positive- When you see a BFP in someone’s chart but they haven’t announced it yet
NFP: Natural Family Planning; similar to FAM, but with abstinence during the fertile period
O, Oing, Oed: ovulation, ovulating, or ovulated
OPK: ovulation predictor kit; tests for presence of LH surge that usually precedes ovulation by 12-48 hours; these tests are quite expensive and not always accurate (if you take medication or depending on your age); these are optional when charting with FF, but if your fertility data is not clear it can bring more light and help interpret difficult cases
OS: Ovusoft; charting software based on TCOYF
PCOS: polycystic ovarian syndrome (a fertility problem)
PG: pregnant
PIAC: pee in a cup
POAS: pee on a stick
RE: reproductive endocrinologist

I have to admit that I have mixed feelings about TTC #2. DH and I suffered a miscarriage 2 months ago and I am a little apprehensive about TTC, but DH wants to keep trying. There's more to it for me than fear- financially I just don't think we're ready and I would like to go back to school. On the other hand, I am getting older and would like DS to be close in age to his someday sibling. So for now, I guess it's more seeing what happens.
My chart this month is interesting. I had been charting based solely on CM, but this month decided to add temps back in. My DS co-sleeps and tries to grab the themometer out of my mouth, so I wonder if my temps are slightly off (I think I O'ed on CD 23 based on the low temp and the EWCM but because of the surrounding temps, FF isn't giving me the O).

Hi all! We are TTC now to try to have our kids about 2 years apart. It took us about 6 months to get preggo with CJ.
I had some concerns but they went out the window when ds turned 1...the itch kicked in! If we are not preggo by Jan, we have a babymoon planned for Feb! We'll go even if we are preggo by then! :D

Most of the time we want two children. ;) My husband is ready for us to have another child right away. I am not completely ready, but seeing him so excited makes me think that it will all be okay. Logistically, getting pregnant right now would not be the smartest thing we have ever done, but when would it ever be the right time? I am still nursing my son and have not gotten my period back yet. So, that will have to come first before we really start TTC. Although, yesterday we DTD with no protection. I am allergic to birth control pills and since we knew we wanted to TTC shortly after having our first child, we decided that I would not go back on the Depo shot. We have been using condoms since DS was born. Yesterday, though, we were naughty. My husband really, really wants another baby right away. So, we may be TTC "on accident" before we state that we are officially TTC. Does that make sense?
Anyway, I am excited to join this thread and look forward to sharing this journey with all of you! Good luck to each one of you!
I'll join! But I'm starting a little later than all of you...

We want at least 3, and my DH jokes that we're cutting into his retirement already! Ideally, we'd like to have almost exactly 2 year between. I LOVED having a summer baby, but we're shooting for June next time! (Actually, we were shooting for June THIS time, but you all know how that goes! ) Right now, I'm BF and haven't had a PP AF. We're not preventing at this point because getting pg would land us with another July baby, but I think we're going to start...

we have been 'at it' for 4 months now - we are older & want 2 kids (I secretly would love to have 3) and the only reason I didn't start sooner was cause I needed to be able to fly at Christmas - we go to the inlaws at Christmas time in Ireland.
alas I am going to be fine for flying in Dec :(

MKVH I meant by newness how exciting the whole wanting a baby thing was the first time. Now although I want another one, I look at a newborn and think about how many times they wake up at night rather than how tiny and cute. (I'm writing this listening to DS refusing to take his nap.:rolleyes: ) I guess there is a big part of me that wants to be able to have my pg with DS all over again. KWIM?

Well DH and I are actually starting our 4th cycle TTC #2. I charted in the past and that just made be crazy so I really rather not go that route if I didn't have to. I have been using OPKs for the past two cycles and I plan on doing them again this cycle. I would love for DS and the new baby to be 2-2.5 years apart. I still have a couple months left for them to be at least 2.5 years apart!

We haven't been preventing for about 6 months and last week at my annual exam my OB said she'd put me on clomid whenever we were ready! So I took 100mg of clomid days 5-10 of this cycle. Currently I'm on cd 13 and hoping to O soon.

This is exciting, I am not sure what to expect! DD was not at all planned and I did not realize I was pregnant until I was around 11 weeks, so I am new to all of this. Right now we are just going to see what happens for a few months and if that does not work, I may start charting. This is probably a stupid question but can you use/is it worth it to use OPKs w/o charting? I have a regular cycle so I usually have an idea the week I should be ovulating.

I use OPK's without really charting and do alright - when I can I try to take my temp after the + OPK to make sure I did ovulate but can't always do it since DD might have woken me up in the middle of the night etc..
I also try to temp towards the end of the 2ww if I can so I know if I should test or not - been pretty good about not getting BFN's since I see my temp dropping
I'm so happy to see so many people join up. We are not TTC right yet but as mentioned before the planning has started. At the moment my fears are more so centered around TTC than actually getting PG and bringing another baby into the family. Our journey the first time around was filled with up's and down's and I am scared this time around will be the same. Exactly when we will TTC and not just SWH depends on so many things. As you can tell from my avatar we have a newborn and ideally one should wait 9 months to get PG again. Another thing to factor in is twins run in our families ... there hasn't been a set in a long time so I suppose chances are low but it is something to consider ... the scary part is DH and I would actually both like twins.
Oh, yeah, Pookie! IKWYM! You really can't romanticize the new baby thing when you KNOW how hard it can be. Hopefully we can get a part of that excitement back, and I'm sure we will. Just seeing a BFP will bring back a lot of it, I'm sure!

DH and I are starting TTC #2 this month as we want our kids to be roughly 2 yrs apart. Like some of you, we had a bit of a bumpy road conceiving Carter (2 m/c...1 was ectopic) so we're definitely going into this w/ a huge awareness that things don't go as planned. I am also not completely excited about being pg again (although very excited for Carter to have a sibling!) so "seeing what happens" for Nov & Dec is our plan.....kind of easing into it I guess. If we're not pg by Jan, we're holding off until May as I'm going to Europe in April - I was very sick w/ Carter in the 1st tri so I either want to be in the 2nd tri or not pg when I'm there so I can actually enjoy the trip. So.....we'll see how the next couple months go! :)
I'm excited you're here too, godsgift!! ;)
And it's been a really long time but MSH, I remember you from the WC charting threads (I was Jen110301 over there...not sure if you remember me) and it's fun to see you here as well! Congrats on baby Aiden - I'm so excited for you after all you went through!!

Sign me up. We have two already and are waffling on #3. DH really really wants #3 and I want #3 but I'm not 100% convinced yet for a couple reasons (with three you can't each "take one" when in crowed places, 3 is an odd number, means a bigger car etc). I'm also still exhausted from #2 (who still isn't not fully SSTN at 14 months so the thought of being pg again right now makes me want to cry) but if we do TTC3 we need to do it in the next six months as I'm already 34 and don't want to be pregnant much past 35. So anyway I'll join since I"m pretty sure we'll start actively TTC in the next 2 or 3 months.

TTC: Not TTA since our aniversary, TTC sort of this month
Charting: not yet. I am having issues getting my old program running again and I mess up the temps this month.
I am feeling very ambilent about doing this again, which is suprising. I love kids and love being a mom and my son is really pretty easy and I have a supportive husband. Yet I seem to feel depressed when I think about having another instead of excited. I worry that I won't love the next and that I will resent the additional work and the time it will take away from DS#1, DH and me time. But I also got ambivilent about getting pg the first time, once we were really ready to TTC. But I was very involved in the process once we got started. This time I am just not paying much attention and waiting to see what happens. I want DS to have a sibling and I would like DH to have a little girl if possible but I wonder if I am making a mistake trying again when I am not totally into it myself. But at age 42 I can't really wait until I feel better about it. Hopefully it is just being so tired and the stress of DH working a job he does not like and housing hunting and being behind at work. I am getting about 6 hours a sleep a night, and that is mostly because I spend to much time online and get DS to sleep too late. I should get to bed earlier and see if that changes my outlook. I also fear twins since the run in the family a bit (grandmother miscarried twins, my cousin has twins and my sister had disappearing twin syndrome) and older woman are more likely to have twins because they often drop two eggs. I don't know where I would find the energy for two more and the thought of paying for daycare, let alone college is enough to send my to bed with a headache.
Thanks for letting me vent. Maybe I will start to feel better having let these thoughts out of my head.
on the plus side, it great not bothering with birth control anymore.

Hi ladies! I have what is probably a very dumb question, but I am new to the whole TTC thing. We are basically just seeing what happens, but I would like to try to time it right :) My question is what counts as the first day of AF? Is it spotting? or when it gets heavier? I have a relatively regular cycle as far as I can tell - but I want to time BDing and need to count from the first day of AF. Anyone know the answer? TIA!
First day of AF is first day of red flow enough to fill pad/tampon.

I am on CD13 and starting to stress because my CM has been nothing but dry and OPK -. We started BDing on CD8 (every other day) since I am possibly a 26 days cycle (since return of AF...26, 31, 26, 31, 26, 26). My temps have been constant at 97.6, so I am wondering if my thermometer is broken. I don't think that I am cut out for charting! Just needed to vent as my DH is so busy at work right now that he doesn't need to deal with my stress too.

I am beginning to think that charting, in some ways, just makes the process more stressful, too! Maybe you can do a little test to make sure your thermometer isn't broken. Maybe dip it some water of varying temps & make sure it's giving you readings other than 97.6?

I think we might be cycle buddies! I'm on CD13 of a 26 day cycle also! You know even with the short cycle I usually don't O until CD15 or 16. So you might be the same way. I'm using OPKs and I gave up charting because it makes me crazy! I hope you O soon!
Molly--just take your temp at another time of day to be sure you don't need a new battery. Other than that, all you can do is keep up what you're doing. You COULD stop charting temps till after you get a + OPK and only use them to confirm O and then stop. And I wouldn't take an OPK till you have fertile CM. That could take off some of the stress.{{{hugs}}} I know it can be frustrating!! But your O could easily vary from CD8-CD21 dpending upon the length of your LP. Hang in there!!

DianeCourt - Thanks for the suggestion....I just checked my thermometer and it appears to be fine.
Tenny - How fun to have someone to go through the 2WW with! I thought that the OPK was + by CD12 last month (although I didn't write it down), but maybe I will actually O more similar to you.
mkvh - Late this morning I think that I had EWCM so I was excited to do my OPK after lunch, but alas it came out negative again. Maybe I was just imagining wet CM as EWCM.

I am beginning to think that charting, in some ways, just makes the
process more stressful, too!
This was the true for us when trying to get pregnant with DD. Charting stressed me out and I was almost obsessed! :o I used OPKs this cycle, but I totally didn't follow the directions! I didn't use them at the same time each day, didn't hold my pee for 4 hours, etc! I had 1 or 2 that were almost positive (ie line was almost as dark as the reference line) so I'm hoping that I did in fact O. I'm on 100 mg of Clomid and I O'ed on that same amount of Clomid before so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed! I'm not charting because, although I'd like to, my first thought in the morning isn't to take my temp. My first thought when I hear the alarm now is to turn it off asap so it doesn't wake up DD! :D
Tenny
11-08-2006, 07:53 AM
MollyK Maybe we switched O days. I think I actually Oed yesterday, which would be 2-3 days early for me. I never got a real positive OPK, but they got really close to being positive and now they are back to be almost no test line at all. I also had weird cramping yesterday. Just goes to show you just when I think I know my cycle it changes it up on me! I hope you O soon!

Charting definitely stresses me out more in the 2WW. Last cycle, my temp shot up at 11DPO, so I really thought I was PG. So much so that I ran out at 7 am on a Sunday to buy a HPT! I got a BFN & my temp plummeted the next day. Had I not been taking my temp, I would have just waited for AF to be late and not wasted any HPTs! On one hand, charting definitely appeals to my Type A personality. On the other hand, it also gets me into a lot of unnecessary trouble! :rolleyes:

I have never charted, but I just know I would be too consumed by it. That is why I am going to try it without this time and see if we are successful. I am on CD7 today - I think I am going to pick up some OPKs this weekend. I "believe" my cycle is pretty regular and that I should O somewhere around the 14th or 15th.
I just wish there was some way to know it was going to work!!! I am the type that once I decide something it needs to be now! So I have not patience and I know I need it for this!

Last time around I charted and did OPKs. It was a bit stressful but I did get pg after 6mths and that is not bad for an old lady like me. I also really liked that I KNEW that I was either pg or something was seriously wrong, when my temps stayed up for a full 9 days, or whatever the magic number was. Testing was just to show DH, satify a doctor and have the "evidence." It also allowed me to know when I O'd so that I only needed to avoid things like wine and cheese and caffine for 2 weeks or so, instead of all while TTC, though I guess OPKs serve that function as well, but I did not waste as many OPK sticks.
This time I am not doing any tracking or being very careful about what I eat and drink. All I have been tracking is when AF is here and when I have heavy CM, assuming that it is linked to Oing. Based on those two things AF is expected this weekend. I guess I will test sometime next week if she does not show. But I don't feel anything that would indicate that I am or am not pg. And I am too busy dealing with a 3y/o, a backlog at work, a stressed huseband and househunting to really spend anytime being stressed about whether this is the month or not. The stress will hit once I find out I am pg, and I have to figure that into everything else.

I chart to know when to expect AF as much as for TTC. Since my miscarriage, the lengths of my cycles have been a little screwy, but the LP is always the same. Once I can pinpoint my O- I can usually know when to expect my period. I need to use both temps and CM to do that because I've been having multiple patchs of fertile CM.

Hey ladies!
I've never charted, but rather just jot down when AF comes, and when I think I O(and write down the CM status).
Could someone tell me what exactly an Luteal phase is?

Your luteal phase or LP is the time between ovulation and AF. It should be 10+ days.

I have read in my limited research, that it is best to BD [I]before[I] you O rather than right after - is that the case? Also, is it best to BD every day or every other day during your suspected few fertile days? There is SO much information on TTC on the internet, it is making my head spin - just when I think I have it down, I read something new that makes it more confusing! Any insight would be great. TIA!

You definitely want to BD right before you O. That's when you have fertile CM, and sperm can survive in fertile CM for several days. The egg only lasts for about 24 hours, so it's better if the sperm are already there waiting for it!
You'll find conflicting advice on whether to BD everyday or just every other day. We conceived DD by BDing every other day. If we try to everyday, we just get burned out! :D

Now I am no expert but with #1 we TTC w/charting for 2.5 years so I believe I know just enough :) Anyways. Once you ovulate there is generally a window of 24 hours in which conception can happen. So you are best to BD in the days leading up to O as swimmers can survive for up to a few days and thereby still catch the egg once it is released. Generally they say the day before or the day of O is the best day to BD. I believe most will recommed you BD every other day and everyday when you see EWCM (if you are keeping track of CM).

Hello!
Cant believe Im actually posting here.
See I was convinced we wouldnt have a second for many reasons the two most important money and age. I will be 35 next year and hubby will be 49. He was the most against it because of his age but then he always said the door wasnt completely closed and he always wanted my input. I wanted one but didnt see how it could happen as Ive recently quit my corporate job to dedicate myself to my biz and well lets just say the money so far is no where near what I made in the corporate world, but then again I dont want to cheat my daughter of having a sibling and seeing as our families are older and spread all over the nation. Well Ive been confused as to what to do. Life has gotten easier and now that my daughter is a bit older its getting easier to handle. But I still ache for one.
Then about 3 weeks ago my brother came to visit he is single and in his mid twenties and well he was always filming our little girl his niece from day one and he compiled everything he ever filmed of her into one CD and gave it to us and well we sat down to watch it and my hubbys expression changed and I could see it in his eyes and well he is a changed man and he talks about maybe having a baby again almost everyday which has surprised me. Ofcourse he tries to play it down but I see it in his eyes it lights up everytime we sit down and seriously discuss it.
Deep down inside I know we really want one but we are scared, scared to be too old scared to not have enough money scared that we wont be able to save for retirement scared to not have enough to help pay for college tuitiion.
Yet every night we sit and daydream.
So I guess we are gonna give it a go! ahhhhhhh Im so friggin scared and just to think about the birth oh lord it was so frigging traumatic and Im such a wuss but oh I want another one.
Anyhow after that lonnng story(thanks for reading) here are my stats

Oh my Goodness Im so freaking out just writing this.
But before anything else I have to go to the Drs because I have stopped ovulating for the second time this year. Mostly I think its because of stress and because Ive gained 15 pounds. I dont see why else there isnt anything else wrong with me so I think I have to calm down and loose the weight. Still Im going to see the Dr. sometime next week.
Ok so here I am thanks for reading and thanks for letting me join.:o

I think I'm the opposite of most of you. We went thru IF with DS. It took over 1 1/2 years to get a sticky pg. I've always felt #2 would be much easier. It was for my mom. My OB also said statistically if you have IF with #1, you wouldn't have secondary IF as well. I guess we wouldn't really know until we start TTC in June. I'm starting to feel less apprehensive,though. We're building a house that should be ready Feb/ March, so we should be moved in by the time we TTC.

october2002bride If it makes you feel any better, we had many of the same concerns about money - and my mother put it in perspective for me -- we'll NEVER have enough money to give our children everything we want them to have (the world) so if we wait until we do, we'll never have another... :) Here's to calming down and having another!

Diane: I have that same feeling! For whatever reason, I feel like we are going to have tough time TTC #2 - I am sure my recent obsession with researching TTC on the internet is not helping the situation. DD was a surprise, so I just can't imagine that #2 will come so easily.
I have never gone through a 2WW, but I have no patience, so I imagine I will spend alot of money on HPTs and drive my DH nuts :)
Welcome to all the new ladies :)

Well, I started charting again! I never got a dark positive OPK, but I did get one that was almost positive. So I started charting about halfway through this cycle. My chart is here (http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/4562c)
I bought two pg tests and DH made me use one yesterday-it was negative. But my temps are still high. I have no idea when I O'ed really so I'm not getting my hopes up that we BDed on the right days.

I have this sinking feeling that TTC #2 isn't going to be as easy as #1 for us. I have no basis for the feeling, it's just there. Anybody feel the same way sometimes?
#2 is already harder for us. I have been pg 3 times (2 m/c) and got pg the very first cycle of trying with each one. This time I'm already on cycle #4. I'm so worried that my body is now out of whack!
So I'm in my TWW I'll test either on the 19th or 21st. I packed up all my HPTs and told DH to hide them (I have a bad habit of testing early) and not give them back until the 21st. But then I Oed two days earlier then went I thought I would O so now I need to convince him to give them back on the 19th.

Well looks like I get another shot to chart. AF showed today. Last time around we started trying in August, just like this year and Christmas day was the first day of my lucky cycle, but if I remember correctly we skipped either November or October so that DH would not be in China when I delivered (school trip that he was required to go on). So I have one more cycle to go before I equal the trys we had last time, but I was charting last time, so our timing would have been better. If we are not pg by February we are supposed to check in with an RE.

I am on the 2WW also. According to FF, I O'd on CD17 (now on CD20)...which seems late for me, but I will go with it. Looks like I will be testing right around Thanksgiving.
Well I took the first step and installed TCOYF on my computer again. I am not full fledged charting just keeping track of BD. I figure it will be a little longer before my system is ready again and AF returns as we are ex. BFing DS at the moment.

CD14 here. I usually O on CD17 or 18. DH left this morning to go hunting until Saturday. I'm trying to send a message to my ovaries to tell them to wait until he gets back, which will be CD18!

LOL! I found out about $1 HPTs from the Dollar Store on the charting thread, so I bought a bunch of those this past weekend. Now I can test early all I want without feeling like I'm wasting too much money! :rolleyes:

CD14 for me....I am sort of guessing on this one, but I "should" O around CD16 or so.....DH was out of town until last night, so hopefully we are able to cover our bases. AF is due Nov. 30 or Dec.1, so I would like to wait to test until Nov. 28 at the earliest, but I probably won't be able to hold out that long. I think I should head to the $ store to pick up some of the $ tests! Are they reliable/ how sensitive are they?

I think that I will test on Sunday, 11/26 - CD32. Based on my previous 26 day cycle, I would test on Tues...but since I O'd late, I am assuming that I am back to a 31 day cycle for this month. Not too sure that I will be able to wait that long!

I can't believe how many of us are in the 2ww! How exciting :D. I don't think that I'll be able to hold out until 11/22 to test!! My BB's are a little sore but I think it's too early for symptoms. But hopefully these are symptoms and I can get a BFP one day before DD 1st birthday.

I have a question re: testing - how many days before AF is expected do you test? Or do you hold out to test after AF is late? I am just curious and trying to figure out how long I will wait to test, I was thinking a day or two before AF is late.....
DianeCourt
11-16-2006, 08:10 AM
lee: I think that waiting until the day AF is due is ideal for testing - less chances of getting a false negative from testing too early. That being said, I got my BFP with DD at 11 DPO. (AF wasn't due for another 3 days.) It was pretty dark, too. The earliest I've ever heard of somebody getting a BFP is 9 DPO. It also depends greatly on the sensitivity of the test you're using.
I always try to wait till AF is 2 days late. I do not want a false pos/neg and also I want a nice dark line so there is no confusion. However, I find waiting next to impossible.

Thanks Diane and MSH! I will do my best to wait, but I know it is going to hard for me, I am so impatient. I am trying not to get my hopes up since this is our 1st cycle trying (and I am not charting or anything), but it is really hard not to hope for that BFP. :)

I try to wait till at least AF is due, just becuase the dang tests cost so much. I have not tested once this time around. When I got PG with #1 I drove everyone over here (or was it on WC then) crazy because I would not test till 18 dPO so that I would know I was PG based on my bodies signs (my chart) rather than the test. I wanted my body telling me I was PG rather than the stick. The stick was just to confirm. And I was rewarded for an instantous dark line. :) I actually let DH tell me when during the day he wanted me to test. So I put the pressure on him instead of myself. His reaction was "Does this mean I have to drink all that wine myself?" :rolleyes: since we had alot of stuff in the cellar that was ready to drink. It took him awhile to really get his head around the idea that I was really pg. I think it finally sunk in when he watched them take DS out of my belly.
(Or maybe it was that first day in the hospital when DS started crying and woke DH up for the first time. His first, sleep deprived, reaction was to think "D**m it would someone make that kid be quiet. " Then he realized it was HIS kid and his total focus was on how to make his son happy again. That was the moment he really became a Daddy. Sweet memory. Sorry for the ramble. One thought just led to another. ) (To be fair, my first reaction to the nurse waking me at the hospital to bf was rather similiar. :o )

Hi Ladies...
Thanks for the welcome, and congratulations to those of you waiting for that BFP! I'm not sure I really understand all the DPO.... 2WW stuff, but I'm sure I'll figure it out :) Our first baby was a little bit of a surprise so I never got into the charting.
I have a question for you all.... would you be concerned about having your children's birthday's too close together? Tyler was born July 16 and although we are so ready to start TTC now, if I were to get PG right away the new baby's birthday would only be about a month after Tyler's. (well.... three years and a month but you know what I mean;) ) would you wait and hopefully have the birthdays farther apart or just go ahead and start TTC. I suppose the chances of getting PG that quick are pretty slim anyway.
Sorry about the ramble.... I get the silliest things stuck in my mind!!
TIA!!
I have a question for you all.... would you be concerned about having your children's birthday's too close together?TIA!!
Heck, no! I loved the timing of my DD's birth and my pgcy, so I'd love to replicate it. Also, my b-day is only 6 weeks after my sis's and 2-3 weeks before my mom's. I still felt like I had my "own" day.

We want our kids to be close in age but I DO NOT want to get pregnant before our wedding, so we will not be trying at all before May. I am praying that I can get pg right away so the kids won't be too far apart, because ideally I would have liked them to be even closer. Our first DD wasn't planned so I don't know how hard this will be, especially since I have a very irregular cycle. Before I got pg with DD, I got my period maybe every five or six months. Then in May I had an ovary removed, and strangely my periods have increased to once every two months or so.
How soon before TTC do you start charting?

I have a question for you all.... would you be concerned about having your children's birthday's too close together?
Yes and no. I do think it is nice for the children to have there own day and not to be overshadowed by their sibling. There is enough reason for rilvery. To have mommy and daddy (and everyone else) pay token attention in your special day because the new baby is about to be or was just born (or is being bat mizvahed or turning sweet 16, or 18 or 21) is tough on the other sibling. And the temptation to combine parties is also there.
Also my DH and his mother already share a b-day which has sucked for him because when he turned 40 his mom's turned 60 and "stole his thunder." He was not really pissed or anything, but no one really made a big deal about his big day because FIL threw a big family thing for his mom and that was the focus of the weekend. To make it worse his brother's birthaday is less than a week later. And his b-day often falls on Yom Kippor which is no fun at all. The Jewish Holidays are always distracting attention from DH's birthday.
That said - It would be great to have all the cloths from the 1st possibily fit the second at the right time of year. I had no real issues with having a fall baby. It might have been nice to take walks in the spring or summer with a new baby, but instead DS was ready to go in a swing and to crawl up stairs on the play equiptment by the time spring and Summer rolled along.
I am not doing anything this month or next to avoid a close birthday. What will be, will be. It may drive my Mom crazy though if this next baby is close to DS. She is already getting pulled in two direction with my 4 yr old niece being born the 1st and my son on the 10th. Parties always seem to be in conflict. When DS was born my parents had to drive to MA for to meet DS the day he was born, drive back to NJ 2 days later for nieces 1st b-day naming party (scheduled late assuming DS woudl be born earlier) and drive back to MA the next day for the Bris, which had to be scheduled late in the day to allow all the relatives to make it back in time. Very crazy. This year their parties were on the same day.

would you be concerned about having your children's birthday's too close together?
Yes...and no. ;) I'm really big on the whole birthday thing...that your birth day is yours individually to celebrate and should be separate from others' bday parties, etc. We have a huge family and it's impossible to not have birthdays around each other and I was really hoping w/ DS that his bday wouldn't be close to someone else's. Luckily, he was born in Sept...the ONLY month in the year that no one else has a bday (although I know it won't stay that way probably)! If we are pg this month, I'll be due 8/5, which is my mom's bday. And considering DS was born 2 wks early, there's obviously a chance that this one would arrive early which would put him/her right close to 2 other bdays (my nephews that are 3 days apart). Also, one BIL is on 8/2 and if I went late, both DH & his sister are on 8/17. If I get pg next month I'd be due at the beginning of Sept and there's potential that our 2 kids bdays would be close together. Or again, if I went early, it'd be close to DH & SIL. It bothers me a bit b/c I know eventually all the bdays will get lumped together for parties b/c there are so many friggin' parties each month right now and it'll get even crazier as more kids are born. If both our kids have bdays in Sept. I'd probably end up having one big party for both of them for all the friends/family to come to and then have separate celebrations on each of their bdays.
OTOH, I'm not putting TTC on hold just for bday timing and after going through a bit of a struggle to conceive DS and I was just so happy to have a sticky baby and would feel blessed to have another sticky baby, deep down I just don't care anymore. So, I guess what it comes down to is that I *hope* that bdays won't coincide but if they do, oh well. :)
ETA: A gf of mine just had her 2nd baby last week and her 1st DC's bday is next week and she's actually really happy that their bdays are close together.

I have a question for you all.... would you be concerned about having your children's birthday's too close together?
I did a little because the cycle that would have put me due in April (which is when DS birthday is) I would have been due 3 days before DS's birthday. I really didn't want to be away from him on his birthday. But it turns out I got sick that cycle and we didn't really try that month anyway. I really don't even count that cycle in my # of cycles trying.
Add me to the list of people testing this weekend. Even thought I really don't think I'm pg. Not really having any symptoms or anything!:(

I was just thinking about #2 having a close b-day to DS. We plan to start TTC in June, which could lead to another March baby. I LOVED having a spring baby and really wish for a March/ April baby. On the other hand, I don't want DS to have to share his b-day. We're hoping for a 3 year spacing. I think if we were hoping for a short spacing I'd be more worried. FWIW, I use to babysit for a family whose daughters shared the same b-day. They were 6 years apart and the older one had requested her mom schedule her c/s for that day.

Welcome Katie1!
Birthday: There's a good chance #2 could be an October baby since we're TTC during the same time of year that we were the first time around. My birthday is 10/19 & DD's is 10/25. If we have another baby in October, that's fine. I figure the timing is kinda out of my hands.
My temp was slightly up this morning & my CM dried up today. I'm guessing that I O'd yesterday. Tomorrow's temp will tell. If I DID O yesterday, which is two days earlier than usual, maybe our chances aren't that bad for this month since we covered our bases Monday night before DH left for the week.... :D

birthday month No, it wouldn't bother me if my kids were born in the same month. Addie was born in June and if I'm pg this cycle I'd be due late July. I like summer babies! Like Dianne, I feel like the timing this isn't really up to us! :)

birthday month: It doesn't bother me if all of my kids are born in or around the same month (January) - but here's why: My brother, my mother, my dad, my father-in-law and my grandfather-in-law (plus some cousins, 2nd cousins, my dog, etc) and me all have birthdays between Nov 20 and Nov 29. It's hard because it's so close to the holiday season but it makes for a fun "birthday season".... so I think it'd be fun for my kids to have the same!

birthday month--I have a big project going in at work the end of January that will require pretty much pulling an all-nighter so I told DH I refused to be pregnant and exhausted at that time we we decided to start TTC mid-January. With that timing we'll most likely end up with a baby with a birthday somewhere around the same time frame of our other two. I'd really like a summer baby but I'm not about to wait another year for that plus I know our health insurance at work will be changing in 2008 and I want to have #3 under the current insurance as I don't think the new plan is going to be as good.

Thanks for all the responses! I guess I really shouldn't be worried about it at all. If in the off chance I do get PG right away, they would still be at least a month apart and that would be plenty of time to make sure they have their own special day. What's important is that we're ready to have another baby and we're so excited!!! I'm hoping three years apart will be good spacing for us. Looking forward so seeing what happens with all of you! Can't wait to hear how all the testing goes this weekend!!! Good luck!!!!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure I DID O on Wednesday, CD15. My temp was up again this morning. FF is doing some funky things with my chart today and is calling a potential O on CD11. But I entered some "what if" temps and if I DO indeed have another high temp tomorrow, it will move my O date to CD15, which I can buy.
I'm so excited. I've never O'd earlier than CD17, which is today. I thought our chances were ZERO this cycle since DH is out of town 'till tomorrow, but my body came through for me in a BIG way. (I just hope DH's swimmers were robust enough to hang around for 48 hours!) If my O is confirmed tomorrow, I'll be testing on Sunday 11/26.

Does anybody feel like the gender of any future babies is almost more important than the gender of DC? I feel like when I was pregnant before, whatever we had didn't matter. Although DH says he doesn't care, I think he's DYING for a boy this time around. I, on the other hand, have decided I would be happy with a house full of little girls. And if we end up with a little boy next, I think we might say that our family is complete. With another little girl, there would almost certainly be talk of #3.
All that being said, it's tempting sometimes to think we'll find out the sex ahead of time. But we have already decided that #2 will also be a surprise, just like DD was!

gender--since we already have two boys and we will be stopping after this one we would both like a little girl but if we have another boy that will be fine too. Gender-I would like to have another girl. I would want DD to have a sister, someone to play with, go shopping with when she's older, etc. I would also be happy with a boy. In the end, all I want is a healthy baby.
My temps are still up this morning. I've been having some kind of cramping around my belly button. It's a different kind of cramping, not AF like. So I'm hoping this is a sign.

Gender - It is strange. I had always assumed I would have a girl. I spent alot of my single childless time thinking about raising girls. I am one of three girls and my sister both had all girls prior to my DS (one has since had a boy). I was sure when I got pg that it was a boy and it had me totally freaked. I knew nothing about boys. NOw I love having a boy and the idea of a girl scares me. But I think DH would love a little girl. To be the focus of her attention like I am the focus of DS. And to have me deal with turning her into a "women" as he will feel the responsiblity of turning DS into a "man" if that makes sense. Anyway, I know he figures with a girl I will have the harder time when she is a teen ager. But the thought of needing to match shoes and hair ribbons to dresses and such after just having to grab any pair of pants and shirt is a bit intimidating, as is having to make braids and stuff like that. I think girl will be alot more work. But I also think girls tend to allow you to be more involved in their adult lives than boys. I might even get to coach a birth some day. But what will be will be. I will love what I get. We did find out last time. This time I am not sure if we will. Last time I needed to confirm my instinct that I was having a boy so that I could study up on raising boys. This time the only reason would be to get some more girly clothes.

gender We'd love to have a girl. Another boy would be nice as well. I don't necessarily agree that girls graviate to the dad and boys to their mom. My DS can be quite a Daddy's boy as well. We'd love to have something different, though. I really want to buy dolls and dresses, but if not for my own DD than I can for friends' DD's.

Gender-as much as I'd love DS to have a brother, I would like a little girl. I'm very close to my mother, and I hope to have a similar relationship with my DD someday : )
All and all I'm so ready to be preggers again. I think about it constantly...and I am so excited/anxious to give BFing a shot again. I was unsuccessful the first time, and I've regretted it ever since...so I'm really trying to read up as much as possible to prepare myself the next time around.
QOTD: has anyone given thought to how different the hospital stay/delivery will be the next time around...and who will watch DC???
Or how to announce the next pregnancy? We're thinking of getting a t-shirt that says "big brother" for DS to wear. If we do get pregnant this spring/summer as we're hoping, I think we'll wait until after my brother's wedding to announce our news : )
Kelly51703

Hospital Stay - I've been thinking about this one and dreading it! I know MIL will want to watch DD but that won't ever happen. I don't trust her with DD. My parents or brother will most likely be watching DD.
Now that I know what to expect for L&D I don't think the second time will be as bad as the first. I was in labor for 4 hours with DD and pushed for 2.5 hours. Now that I know how the pushing thing works I would think that delivery would happen faster as long as there weren't any complications.
Announcement of DC #2 - I've been giving this one a lot of thought. With DD we gave my parents and sister Easter baskets that had jars of baby food food and bottles filled with Easter candy. They loved finding out that way. My brother and SIL alreay did the "I'm the Big Sister" t shirt with my niece so I can't go that route. I want to do something along those lines so I found a "I'm the Big Sister" book on Amazon. DD loves to bring us books to read so I thought I could have to give that book to my mom and dad and have them read it to her.
I want to think of a clever way to tell DH since the first time wasn't all that special.

I'm tempted to send them to my mom's since she camped out at the hospital the last time around and this would be one way to keep her busy & away! :rolleyes:
Announcing: We told family at 5 weeks last time around. Since then, I've had a close friend who had a late term loss, and I'm kinda freaked out about that. We'll probably wait longer this time. My OB/GYN doesn't do any ultrasounds until 20 weeks, though! It would be nice to see a h/b before we spread the news this next time.
My only creative thought about how to break the news would be a Big Sister shirt for DD.

Tenny-
CONGRATULATIONS!!
Just wanted to let you all now I got 4 BFPs this weekend!!!!
Looks like #2 is on the way!!
Congratulations!! I think you are the first grad of this thread :)
Gender: I really don't have a preference but we both think it will be a girl.
Hospital Stay: I hope it won't be as long as last time. We were in from Sunday afternoon till Wednesday ... too long for me. The ILs will most likely watch DS as all of my family are overseas.
Announcing: I haven't thought it all out yet. We waited till we were 4 months along last time and I figure we will wait till the 2nd tri again due to a history of miscarriage.

Congratulations Tenny!!!!!!!!!!
Gender - I think we would both really like a girl this time around. Of course, happy and healthy foremost, but if I could chose I would definitely choose a girl.
Hospital - I was in labor at the hospital for about 16 hours and pushed for 3 so I'm defintley hoping things will move a little quicker this time around. I also lost a lot of blood so they had to keep me an extra couple days. I would love to have come home a little earlier.
I'm not sure who will watch my DS yet. Both of our parents live about 2 hours away so I'll probably line up a friend to keep him until our parents can get there.
Announcing - I actually had a dream last night that I found out I was pregnant and put the positive pregnancy test in the bottom of DH's stocking, so that's how he and the family found out. If the timing was right I would definitely do that. Otherwise, I'm not sure. I've thought about the t-shirt idea to tell the family, but I would love a really cute and clever way to tell DH since he's soooooo excited this time around.
It's not that he wasn't excited the first time, but he's in coast guard and was underway when I found out I was pregnant and for about six months of the pregnancy. We've sinced moved and he's now and instructor with normal hours so we're both so excited for him to be around and to experience it all with me. He'll really be going through the pregnancy for the first time.
On the topic of the hospital stay.... Are you planning on using the same birthing plan as the first time or trying something different? (things like having and epidural vs. natural, etc.)

Tenny - Congratulations!!! That is great news!!!
Hospital Stay - DS would probably spend the time with his Aunt. I had a GREAT labor and delivery with him. It couldn't have gone more perfectly. So, I am hoping that my next labor will go as smoothly. If it does progress with me in no pain or any complications, I would want DS with me while I labored and delivered. This is my goal and I really hope that we are lucky enough to have another great experience.
Announcing - We told our family and friends around 5-6 weeks with DS because I was so sick and really couldn't hide it from those family members I would see everyday. I don't know if I would need to announce it to DH. With DS, he sat right there in the bathroom with me while we waited for the results of the pregnacy test. Since he is going to be such a big part of this, I can't imagine taking the test when he was not home. So, we would probably take the test together again and then both find out at the same moment.

Thanks Ladies!!
Announcing We will most likely tell family over Christmas, but wait until the 2nd trimester for everyone else. Maybe we will do the shirt idea, still not sure!
Hospital Stay I had a pretty good labor with DS so I hope this one is the same. Most likely my SIL will come and stay with DS. I hope so at least since she is the only family we have in town!
Sending you all Baby Dust!!

CONGRATS TEENY!!!!
Announcing I was thinking of having the family over for dinner and then serving cake with "Congrats Grandma (again) and Auntie (again)" since DS is the only grandchild on both sides but i'm not sure....
Hospital Stay ds was born c/s and i'll be having rcs so i will be able to pick the day and time for dc #2. I will pick something early enough so that ds isn't cranky and can be at the hospital with us. Both sets of parents will most likely be at the hospital again too... *joy*
*sweeping up baby dust and tucking it away* :)

Tenny--congrats
Hospital Stay--well I'm not sure this time. This time there will be two to watch. My parents wanted to watch DS1 the last time but they were 2 hours away. My labor started at 2 am and I didn't call them until 5 am. I delivered at 8:51. :) We ended up having to call the IL's who live about 20 minutes away when I decided I needed to go to the hospital and couldn't wait for my parents (good choice since I delivered less than an hour after walking in). This time I plan to go to the hospital after an hour of good labor since it went so fast last time so I guess we'll have the IL's handle it although my MIL is notoriously self-centered and I could see her say she "doesn't feel like it" when we would call and ask her to come over.
announcing--probably nothing special. We didn't do anything real big for either one so far. My SIL is pregnant with #6 right now and another SIL is trying for #4 so well it will be no big deal on my IL's side so honesty I was thinking about not telling them until I'm showing just to annoy them. :)

Tenny Congrats!! :)
Gender I just didn't want two girls, so now that I have 1 boy I would be please with either.
Accouncing I was planning on getting DS a shirt that says "I am the big brother" and have him wear it to a family event. For family and friends that live farther away I was going to send a picture of him wearing it with a cute message that I have yet to think of.

Mazal Tov Tenny - May it be a easy pg and delivery followed by a non-challenging child. :)
Hospital stay - I have not thought too much about this. I am not sure if we will end up with a scheduled C-Section again this time, but it is likely. DS was huge (10lbs 6oz) and my doc says sibs tend to run about the same size. No way I will risk that big a baby with a compromised uterus, but if the baby is smaller, maybe. But my doc pointed out that measurements are not exact, so it is likely that he will recommend a C-section. With DS though, I got to labor before the surgury because my water broke the night before my OR appointment. I would like to do the same this time. Anyway, if the birth is scheduled than either my parents or my ILs would watch Gabe. If it is not things get tricky because we don't have any relative near by. IL are an hour away in the summer and a plane ride away in the winter, my folks are 4-5 hours away. We have one cousin near by but she is a musician and often out of town. She can be relied on to be around and available. I don't know which friends I might call on to take DS until a set of grandparents could get there. My my sister was born I know my neighbors across the street took me for the first night.
Announcing. No idea. If I was pg this month I though I might announce at thanksgiving, even though that would be very early in the pg. But that is not to be. So I will worry about that when the time come.
I am however, already worrying about a name though. In our tradition you name after a deceased relative and in the past year my grandmother and great aunt and DH only uncle passed. I feel an obligation to honor all of them, but I have only two names to gift my next child with. I also want the names to sound nice. We will see, my Aunts name first and my grandmothe's name second could be a nice girls name, though it would sound a bit hill billyish and we are northeastern Jews. The same would raise some eye brows in our circle, but two of my nieces and my nephew have names that are all unsual, so I would be continuing their tradition I guess.

Congratulations, Tenny!!!! :D
Congrats Tenny!!!
Hospital: The ILs will watch DD, I'm sure. My mom will be at the hospital, even though she lives 5 hours away. I couldn't wait for her to get there this time. I was induced, and I have to say I would do it again. Although I'll pass on the pre-e. I didn't get to experience any labor because I got an epi REALLLLLY early in an attempt to keep my BP down and avoid magnesium sulfate. I'm hoping to go as long as I can without the epi so that I can move about and progress a bit more quickly. I was stuck at 2cm for 9 hours.
Gender: Boy. And then another boy after that. I am so glad that DD is a girl, but I just KNOW that I won't have another girl. It's all boys after this, I'm sure. Not sure why, but I am.

Hi all!
Congrats Tenny! 4 BFP's I think I might take that many this time to be surre since the first time I was pg, I read the thing wrong... supposed to be a plus sign but we only got the vertical line... yep, I was pg...
Gender- I would love a girl! but DH's family is all boys, only tw girls in the last two generations. one from a cousin and one from an uncle... Dh is one of 3, his dad us one of 4, his ggf is one of 5.... you get the idea.
Hospital stay- probably my IL's yet they live 90 minutes away. maybe my SIL if she is off work that day. Depending on our new neighbors, maybe they can watch Harry until someone can get there...
Announcing- I want to annouce at Christmas to Pete's family. not sure how, maybe an ultrasound to unwrap or the pee stick framed (hoping this ones a girl!) saying in it... For DH, he will probably be there with me as I take the test. If not, I am not sure. I made a card with the ultrasound I had that day. made a quick dinner that I know he liked. thought about doing a baby themed dinner-baby carrots, baby spinach salad, using small plates and glasses.

My 26 day cycle period should have come yesterday, but I was not planning on testing until Sunday (15 DPO) just in case my body is back on the 31 day cycle. I have been having AF cramps for 2 days, so this morning when there was no AF I decided to POAS. It was POSITIVE!! I am so relieved and excited. Thanks to everyone for the support!!
Gender: Don't care. We have a DS, so I would like another boy because I think the same gender is closer....but who wouldn't want a little girl!
Hospital Stay: Probably have my parents stay at my house - they are one hour away. I also think that I will have my DH stay at home rather than at the hospital. He didn't sleep well there and it will be better for DS to have fewer changes.
Announcing: Now my Christmas shopping is done....I will tell the news as part of the gift. DH was with me this time (since I woke him up at 5am), so I won't do anything special for him.
Congratulation!! MollyK
I am sure your family will be elated to learn of this wonderful news come christmas. When will your due date be?

Congratulations MollyK!! What wonderful news to share at Christmas :).
~~~~~~~~~~
I'm tempted to go out and get a test today. I'm 11 DPO and have AF like cramps for the past two days but no AF. My bb's have been sore all week too. My test date, according to FF, is 11/25. Two days ago my temp took a huge nose dive. Then yesterday and today it totally spiked back up. So based on that I'm thinking it will be ok to test.
I got my BFP last night. FF says my due date is 8/4/07.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Congratulations Kelly!!
Well I haven't tested and don't plan on either as there is only a very slim chance I am PG. However, I did have a crazy dream last night. I was laying in bed with my hand on my belly and all of a sudden could feel something move inside. I made DH feel it too. Naturally I tested and it was of course positive. It was so real I had to do a double take when I woke up.
I'll probably be asking a lot of rookie questions because DH and I have never TTC before, DD was a big ol' surprise! We're hoping to influence the gender so if anyone has any tips or links on that, I'd appreciate it. Congrats to those with BFPs!
Congrats to all of the BFP's!!!!! How exciting!
DH and I are contemplating "seeing what happens" this month. If we decide not to try or aren't successful we'll avoid again for December and January and then decide what to do in February. We were very set on waiting for June, so I'm really nervous. I don't know if it's because I'm really not ready or just apprenhensive. If I do get pg this month, it will kind of force DH to take an upgrade at work that means that DH will be gone much more than he already is. So many things to think about in the next week because if we do decide to start trying now, next week is "The Week."
Ok, someone fill me in, if you run on a 28-day cycle, approximately when would I ovulate? Around day 14? You start counting on the first day of your last period, right? Is it better to BD every day of that week or every other day? It's crazy that I have a child and don't know anything about this stuff!
Natrat80
11-25-2006, 06:43 AM
On a 28 day cycle you could ovulate on day 14 or before or after!
To be safe I'd start BDing around day 9 and continue until 18 or so. We try to BD every other day and then right around O date we BD every day. It worked with DD but hasn't worked this time though!
Congrats to Tenny, MollyK & Kelly!!! Sorry I'm so late in congratulating you all! I'm excited to hear about more bfp's soon!!
AF should be arriving today but hasn't yet which gives me some hope. I tested this morning and it came up + and then I realized I had tested w/ an ovulation stick! Dumb-a$$!!! :o :p So, not sure if that means anything (I thought I read a looonnggg time ago that a + o test could mean pg but I can't remember?) but I'm on my way out today to get an actual pg test. I'm not charting so idea what my temps are like.
FWIW a good friend of mine on these boards just did the same thing a little over a week ago. + OPK and sure enough she also got a + HPT within a day. So it could mean PG. Thinking good thoughts for you.
I took an OPK the morning on 10DPO and it was neg and then that afternoon I took an HPT and it was BFP. But then a few days later I decided to experiment with an OPK and it came up BFP. Good Luck!
Wow- lots of BFPs :) Congrats to all you lucky ladies! Well, I am enduring the 2WW which is nearing its end. AF is due on or around Nov. 30, so only a few more days to wait. I am not getting my hopes up though, I have no symptoms whatsoever, other than some light cramping here and there which I suspect is due to AF's impending arrival:rolleyes: I don't recall having any symptoms with DD, but then again she was a total surprise so I was not looking for any symptoms.
I am tempted to test, but I am trying to hold out....anyone get a BFN followed by a BFP? I am 12 dpo (I think) and I am wondering if I do test and get a BFN, if it is absolutely accurate. I tried researching this and it seems like a day or two can make a difference b/c it all depends on when you implant and start producing HCG. Just curious.
Pookie
11-27-2006, 08:06 AM
Lee I know I got a BFN at 10 dpo and possibly 12 days as well. By 16dpo, it was a BFP. Good luck to you.
DH and I have decided not to try this month, but we have moved our TTC date up from June to April. I'm starting to get excited,but at the same time I'm really in love with our little family as it is now.
well we've officially decided to start TTC probably January or Feb. Eeek! And we made a decision to NOT tell our families that we are TTC or once we get a BFP. On DH's side SIL is pg with #6 and called everyone 5 minutes after she POAS which kinda irritated me and my parents are trying to talk us out of a 3rd so we decided we're actually most likely just not telling anyone anything until I start wearing maternity clothes. ;)
