Jen, thanks -- yup, feelng pretty well & hope that lasts for 6 more wks. Just mentally anguished, oh, 23 hours a day! (help!)

Hapa -- such cute pics. Love those kiddos!

I think that's what happened. I'm hoping to do another update soon on the front page b/c its been a long while so I will add you back when I do that. Although its entirely possible I missed you - I'm sorry if I did!

I have the first two Signing time videos for Joey and he is finally really interested in them. He was laughing when it started today. He doesn't know any signs yet but I really do try to remember to use them.

He's not an accomplished walker - still lots of cruising and crawling - but he is walking a bit every day. :)

JenniferEC Next time you're in LA, give me a ring and I'd be more than happy to take some pics of your cutie kids! ;)

Jane&Andy Your pics are great too...and you're so good about posting them. Some of the times I just come and skim through to see all the pics...love your joey ones!

Txfish Wow, only 6 weeks to go?! Good luck girl!

Pink_Converse Nope, not a pro-photographer, but thank you. :) You made my day. ;) I've got a Digital Rebel XT. But usually I have to take the pictures into Photoshop to make a few improvements (saturation, contrast, etc). Feel free to PM me.

OMG I am delirious. I can't even remember if I posted this but Katie has an ear infection. UGH. we started her on the antibiotics tues night and she had 104 that night and again tonight, or should I say last night since it is 2am. I am not even bothering to go back to bed this time. WOW when you are used to sleeping again it is so brutal getting up all night long. poor thing is so miserable. I really hope she can sleep now. I just had to force motrin down her throat :( She was so hot :( :( Dylan never had an ear infection so this is a first for me. He had a fever and some kind of virus last week and since she is all over his straw sippies I knew she would pick something up :(

In better news she is waving now. She waves and claps all the time. It is so cute. And no one makes her laugh like Dylan does. it warms my heart to see how much they love each other!

sal Sorry to hear about Katie's ear infection. Jack never had one either, but Kaylie's had 3 now. But she didn't even get a fever for the last 2...just kind of cranky and would wake up at night. I hope the antibiotics do their trick (quickly).

Sal03 - Sorry to hear about Katie's ear infection. We've had three since December. They aren't fun!

Kooper Great montages. I totally need to put some albums or something like that together.

babysigns My DS was great at signing. I think it really helped him beat a lot of the communication frustration that the little ones get. He also was a really good talker fairly early on...not sure if the two are related or not. We've been a little lax teaching Kaylie signs, but she does watch a signing video (it's one of the few both kids like to watch together). Though, I've never sat through the entire video so I don't know what the signs are (if she's been doing them...good going Mom). :)

She can do eat, bath, more, all done, sleepy, and maybe a couple other I don't know she's doing. Mostly she does them if I ask her to. She doesn't use them to communicate that much yet. She seems to want to talk a lot more than her brother did. With DS, he had a couple signs when he turned 1, but then the next few months after his 1st birthday he just picked them up like crazy until he turned 2. Then all of a sudden he started using words and dropped most of his signs.

Happy Birthday Marin, Kyle, Cole and Paige!!!

Amy wow that was an impressive spread! Gorgeous!

Hapa beautiful photos (especially the b/w one with the cute tush)! I need to learn how to use photoshop! And I've been looking to buy a new camera so I may just treat myself for my birthday next month :)

Jennifer Happy momiversary! Love the comparison photos. Marin still looks a lot like she did as a newborn. G looks nothing like he did on day 1. And oh about the weight, I thought he would have come down since he's walking/running a lot all day and doesn't eat as much but noooo the boy is still up there (mostly due to his height I think -- he is slightly over 34").

Sal Ugh!!! I hope Katie is feeling much better and you're all getting some rest. Yay for clapping and waving!

Shania just saw it. will try and write you back this afternoon it has been a crazy morning.

went back to the ped this morning because katie STILL has 102. :( the ped thinks it is roseola and it will break tonight or tomorrow and she'll have a rash all over and be fine. BUT if she still has a fever saturday night they want to send her for blood work on sunday morning since that will have been a week of 102+ fevers. :( hopefully it is just roseola and then we can put this behind us!

Just wanted to come in and say THANKS for all the birthday wishes.

We have been out of town and I am still trying to unpack and get ready for Kyle's birthday party tomorrow. Our biggest problem is that we had a huge leak in our kitchen while we were away and a good portion of our ceiling is down and DH hasn't had time to fix it. I called the HOA today to see if we can use the clubhouse tomorrow-everyone keep your fingers crossed that they call me back and say that we can or else I am having about 25 kids and adults here with a huge hole in my ceiling ! Talk about bad timing!

We gave Kyle a cupcake last night and he LOVED IT! He licked the icing off and then proceeded to shove the cake part in his mouth whole. It was so much fun. We got him a cake of his own for his party so I am sure he will have a balst with that!

Well I have to clean my house in case I can't use the clubhouse for his party so wish me luck ladies!

jeeplover - Hope you had a great party. Would love to see pics! :D

sal - I hope Katie is doing better.

We had a laid back Easter. We went to my parent's house and did a mini egg hunt. Jacob picked up two eggs and then was done with it. Trees, grass, sticks and rocks were way more interesting than eggs. :p We didn't give him anything since his birthday was last week and I just bought him a whole bunch of bibs and the Baby Signing Time DVDs. My mom gave him a book and my sister gave him some blocks and refrigerator magnets. He is really into sticking them on the fridge and then taking them off so she found the alphabet ones. I will try and post a pic we took with the bluebonnets later today. Bluebonnets are a big thing here to take pictures with.

Hi everyone -- hope you had a nice Easter! It would have been more fun if we weren't in the middle of random cold snap

Happy Birthday (late) to Kyle, Marin, Paige & Cole!!

(Sal & Katie) hope you get some relief soon -- yikes. Poor kiddo.

Whitney's party on Saturday was nice; very low-key, just one friend and family. She did so well, and although it took her a while to get into it, she liked her little cake. Her favorite gift: the Disney Princess ride-on thing. http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000EX0DFA.16._SCLZZZZZZZ_SS260_.jpg
I'll try to get some pics posted, but dh uploaded them somewhere on the computer and NOT where they're supposed to go... the hunt is on. LOL

Sunday morning Whitney found the first egg while big sister was busy reading her Easter cards LOL We looked down and she had one and was chewing on it :) Very cute.

Txfish - This cold does bite. I'm so sick of it. I was getting used to shorts and sandals and now we're back to coats and hats. UGH!

jeeplover - I hope the party goes well and you can get your ceiling fixed soon.

Sal - I hope Katie is doing better.

shania - Hope things are going well for you with the move and your DH leaving. Maybe G will be a football player? :)

Marin had her one year visit this morning. She's fallen to 5% on the weight curve so they want her to start eating 5 meals a day and go back for a weight check in 4 weeks. She doesn't look thin to me at all, but she is really active so I think she's just burning it off as she puts it in. She is:
17lbs14oz
28inches

Las Vegas was a lot of fun! I did a bit too much shopping, but I got some great things for Marin. The weather was great out there - 92 and sunny. And the best part of all is I won $125 playing Wheel of Fortune slots. My mom gave me $20 to play and when I was down to $1 I got to spin the wheel and won.

Txfish

Doh! I think I forgot to post Whitney's 1 year stats from last Thursday:

She is 20 lbs, and 29 inches. 50% for height and weight, 60% for head. Got 3 shots and a finger prick -- she didn't even cry at the finger prick, just looked at the nurse with a very annoyed face LOL But then she proceeded to yank the bandaid off her thumb and bleed all over everything  Thanks, kiddo.

Jen -- Vegas sounds like it was great :)

Joey is walking more and more each day - he's gotten pretty good at it. :) He's quite the little toddler now.

I started a part-time job at Gymboree last night. It was fun but retail is new to me so I was nervous. I was also exhausted b/c DH took the day off so that we could go into DC. So by the time I got there last night my legs were already aching from walking around DC. But the discount is great. I'm not sure yet how well it'll work but I've gotta give it more than one day to figure that out.

Jennifer - Joey dropped down to 5% as well but my ped wasn't worried. What % was she before? Joey was 10% and she said it was normal for them to drop a bit at this age.

Kopper

Jane - Congrats on the job! Sounds like fun. I'm thinking about doing something in the next year or so. Hope you enjoy it.

JenniferEC - Glad you had a good time in Vegas.

Jacob's 1 yr appointment is on Thursday. It will be almost 2 weeks since his bday but that was the soonest I could get him in since his ped was on vacation. I could have pressed to see another doctor in the practice but she likes to see her patients for WBVs. I'm expecting him to drop a little in the % too but he is still way up there. I know he is about 25.5lbs and over 31in.

QTOD - For those of you who have started whole milk, how is it going?
Jacob is still getting ~4oz of formula and ~7-8oz of cow's milk and nursing 4-5 times per day. He's done well with the cow's milk and we will cut out the formula completely once this last can is gone. I haven't tried to give it to him cold yet though. I warm his bottle in hot water first and then give it to him. We are still working on sippy cups. He is doing better but still doesn't take more than 1/2oz from them.

Sal03
04-10-2007, 02:12 PM
Jennifer glad the trip was great. I am so jealous! did the kids do okay?

QOTD Katie does not like milk at ALL. she never took a bottle and never drank formula from a sippy so I am not quite sure what to do. I never had this problem with Dylan. I do not warm it that much, maybe I will try making it warmer. If not, I may have to try putting some strawberry quik in it :)

eta she nurses three times a day. I also give her one yogurt a day and she eats a decent amount of cheese.

Jane that sounds great! but knowing me at gymboree I would spend my whole salary on new arrivals!

Last week sucked. It turned out Katie had an ear infection AND roseola. She broke out in a rash when it ended on Saturday night. But it was so crazy. She had between 102-104 for a week! I am so happy to have my happy girl back. She waves and claps all the time and I think she says more. She also has started playing peekaboo with her towel after her bath. it's adorable.

jeeplover
04-10-2007, 03:28 PM
QOTD: I am mixing Kyle's whole milk with 4 oz of formula until we are done with this can. He will drink it cold but not a lot of it. I have had to warm Kyle's bottles since day one so that is how I get him to drink it. I am sure he would drink just milk as long as it was warm. Not really sure how to get him out of that habit though.

Kyle's birthday party was fun. He had a great time and loved the cake. DH hasn't been able to fix the ceiling yet as FIL was supposed to bring tools and he didn't.

I have some pictures I would love to share but haven't gotten around to uploading them yet.

We haven't had Kyle's WBV yet, we too had to wait until 2 weeks after his birthday for an appointment but oh well.

JenniferEC

Jane - Congrats on the job! That will be great for you to have time away and make some money. And the most important - Joey will always be stylishly dressed. :) Marin has been at the 25th percentile for weight and length for a while, so I guess her ped was concerned that she dropped to the 5% in weight and stayed in the same for lenght. It makes me feel better that Joey did the same. She is still in 6-12 mo clothing and size 3 diapers, so I guess I will just enjoy my little peanut.

Sal - I'm glad Katie is back to her happy self! How did she get roseola? I've heard of it, but don't know much about it. DH did great with the kids. He acted like taking care of them was no biggie, but I could tell he was tired when I got home. I'm going to aim for a getaway at least once a year!

QOTD - Marin will only take a few sips of cold whole milk, so we've been warming it. She's still not drinking much out of sippy cups, so I've been giving it to her in a bottle just so she'll drink it. I may try the straw cups to see if she will drink out of those.

jeeplover
04-11-2007, 06:38 AM
JenniferEC-Kyle will drink milk out of a straw cup but won't touch the stuff if it is in a sippy cup. I would definitely try a straw cup. We have a Gerber that Kyle really likes but I also just bought some by Evenflo and also the Munchkin Cupsicles. I just thought I would suggest those.

Jane&Andy
04-11-2007, 06:42 AM
QOTD: Joey drinks cold soy milk but he never took his bottles warmed either. He likes cow milk too but even when I just added a splash of cow milk to his soy his poor bottom turned bright red! He eats yogurt, cheese and pudding without any problems though.

straw cups - I bought the take n toss straw cups and used one for one meal (you can squeeze the cup to force the liquid out of the straw). It only took that one meal for Joey to figure out how the straw works and now he has a strong preference for straw cups.

Jennifer - Joey actually had a fairly significant jump in height (from 25 to 40%) and dropped down to 5% for weight. My ped just shrugged it off - he was born a little early and has always been small. At his highest he was 12% for weight. I just moved him to size 4 diapers (size 3 still fit ok but he was getting close to growing out of them) and he still wears some 6-12 month clothes.

shania0474
04-11-2007, 07:07 AM
QOTD G was taking whole milk well (in the morning he would drink 7-8 oz as soon as he woke up) but now rejects it completely (he will only drink formula or his brother's strawberry milk). He eats yogurt and cheese though

Jennifer Thanks. DH left last night and my 2 year old is having a harder time with it than G. David is sleeping in mommy's bed now... probably terrible for sleep training but good for comforting each other. And oh yes, the nurses in the ped's office always joke about enrolling G in the NFL or NBA. Glad Vegas was so much fun.

sal glad to hear Katie's better

Jane congrats and good luck on the new job!

Have to run. BBL

Happy Birthday Logan!!

straw cups - We have two different kinds and Jacob does not "get" the straw concept. That's a good idea Jane. Where do you get those? Target? We have some take n' toss sippies but they don't have a straw.

naps - I have good news to report!! Since his bday Jacob has been taking his first nap in his crib. I nurse him to sleep and then transfer him to the crib and he has been doing great. I'm going to give it a few more weeks and then try with his afternoon naps. I loved having him sleep in my lap all this time but it is time for a change. He will nap for 35-45 mins in his crib. Once last week he was in there for 1 hour 20 mins.

Jane&Andy

Thanks for the bday wishes.

Sorry i've been so MIA - school is getting hectic. And today is Logan's bday, which is surreal.

qotd Logan has taken to whole milk like a champ, he gulped it down like it was formula. And I stopped warming his bottles a while ago, so he's used to the cold.

straw cups Logan has been drinking out of straw sippies for about 4 or 5 months now, I wanted to get him off the bottle before the year mark. (i have a friend who's kid is about to turn 2 and is still drinking from his bottle - for everything - water, juice, milk... ugh and I can't imagine how hard it is gonna be for her to stop him from that habit, so I'm just avoiding it all together)
So anyway, he loves those Nuby cups-the ones with the straws not the ones that are more like bottles still, more so than any of the other ones.

jane congrats on the job! :) I need to stay away from retail places as much as possible, like Sal, my $ would go right back, :)

bathtime is anyone else's kid LOVING bathtime?? Mine won't get out of the tub. Its cute and all, but he's so upset when we have to get him out of there, haha.

Jane&Andy
04-11-2007, 06:26 PM
Charissa - I was already spending too much money on clothes for Joey and so at least now I get a really good discount and if I spend what I make then at least it means we're saving what Andy makes (instead of me spending it too!). I actually have 6 neices and nephews with birthdays coming up starting in mid-July and a new neice due in August so I have plenty of kids besides Joey to shop for (although somehow I don't think the 15 yr old nephew would appreciate gymboree clothes for his birthday :p ).

bathtime - I just recently tried to switch Joey from the inflatable tub to just the regular tub and he totally freaked the first time (which shocked me since he's always loved bathtime and swimming). So I transitioned him from the inflatable to the big tub at the end of his bath twice and now he's fine with the big tub. So now that we have that worked out he is loving bathtime and cries when I take him out.

I work Saturday night and Andy needs to go do chores for his Mom on Saturday (she lives 90min away and is recovering from surgery) so he is going to take Joey with him and I'll get a day off (until I have to go into work but that isn't til 6!). I'm not sure what I'll do with my time alone!

Joey is working on two more top teeth - so that makes 6 on top and 2 on bottom now.

QOTD: We're not giving cow's milk. I've been dairy-free/soy-free/nut-free since DS was a newborn due to his allergies and am just now able to start eating nuts and little bits of dairy and soy again in my diet. Our ped told us to wait until age 2 to offer any dairy products to DS so that's what we'll do - hopefully he'll have outgrown it by then.

DS drinks water from a sippy cup a few times a day and still nurses regularly (and I still don't have AF back - woo hoo!). We plan to continue breastmilk until at least age two. I was surprised to learn that breastmilk is higher in fat than whole cow's milk, and thought it was cool that the immune-system protection is higher during the second year than the first year (though it makes sense since toddlers are into so much more stuff than babies so they probably get more germ exposure).

Bathtime: I've only given DS a bath a few times and he's enjoyed it. We usually take him in the shower with us and he plays with toys in the bottom of the tub.

(and I still don't have AF back - woo hoo!)

I don't have AF back yet either but I wish I did! Strange I know but we are hoping to TTC #2 soon and without cycles that's pointless. I hope to nurse DS to two and maybe even beyond. I just hope that he doesn't self wean as my supply decreases. I am weaning off of domperidone so there is a very strong possiblity it will decrease.

Happy Birthday to Logan!

Happy Birthday to Deborah!

Jennifer Dylan had it too. It is basically 5-7 days of high fever that ends with a rash that does not seem to bother them. Red everywhere though! Usually it is a one time thing, once you have it you don't get it again so I am glad we are done with that!

Happy Birthday Logan, Deborah, and Abigail!

Bath -- Whitney loves the water, but she's still such a wild woman that baths are my worst nightmare. I've taken to showering with her almost exclusively, because she half drowns every time she's in a bath.

Milk -- we've been working on the transition. She had a sad red bottom for the first few days on 1/4 milk, but it had cleared up and she seems to be mostly tolerating it well. She had started spitting up again, too. So I'm just going slowly with it. She's been eating cheese and yogurt for awhile with no problems, though.

Sal -- so glad Katie is getting back to normal! That's rough; my neighbor's little girl just had roseola and the fever was so hard to keep down.

Jane -- congrats on the job! Enjoy your free Saturday :)

had my second night of work last night - it's going ok but I do miss the flexibility of not working. My DH's brother just got back from Iraq and he wants to see DH but he has Joey Saturday night and Sunday afternoon - makes the planning difficult. And it doesn't look like I'm getting my Saturday home alone after all. Oh well. Andy forgot to dress Joey in his jammies last night when I was at work. :p

Milk-Kyle is doing really well with milk. We are still mixing it half formula/half milk until we use up this last can but he doesn't mind it all. During the day I only give him milk and at night and in the morning I give him half and half and of course it is still warmed for those two bottles. We give him the milk during the day in a straw cup and hopefully he will be off of his bottles by 15 months (I hope).

Bathtime-Kyle loves bathtime! As soon as he hears the water turn on he races to the bathroom and stands up at the tub. It is the funniest thing ever. We are still using the toddler tub but he does take baths with us in our whirlpool tub at times. He loves the water though hence why once a week I take him swimming!

Happy Birthday Deborah, Logan and Abigail!

jeeplover - Thanks for the info on the cups. We went to Target tonight and got some so we'll try those tomorrow.

shania - I wouldn't worry about David sleeping in your bed. I'm sure he's missing daddy and it comforts him. I hope you are doing okay.

Jane - Sorry about your weekend. Maybe you can get even a small amount of time alone? I stopped in Gymboree today (didn't buy anything) and thought of you.

baths - Marin loves the bath. She and Caden take a bath together now and have so much fun playing with all of the toys. She's been out of her infant bathtub for a couple of months now.

Happy Birthday to Deborah, Abigail and Logan!

Happy Birthday Abigail!!

Jennifer - nope, not even getting a single second of alone time. Instead, Joey and I are home alone. DH has run to his Mom's to drop off her taxes (he had originally planned to spend the day there and do a few chores and take Joey with him - she's 90min away so this isn't a quick trip). And then we're meeting up at his brother's later (he just got back from Iraq) and then I go to work. fun fun fun! I'm looking forward to seeing his brother BUT I sure would have liked some alone time too.

TXfish - that sounds just like Joey and milk. He's fine on yogurt and cheese but his poor little bottom resembles a baboon's rear end when he gets milk. He got ahold of another kid's sippy of milk at playgroup and took a few sips and turned bright red again. glad to hear Whitney tolerates it now.

Shania - how are you holding up?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOGAN, DEBORAH AND ABIGAIL!!!

Jennifer and Jane I'm doing ok. Thanks!!! I was dreading the weekend because I have a babysitter/mom's helper during the week but today was actually fun. My mom is here so we took the boys to the park, first to the carousel (we still had tickets left over from G's party there) and then to the park zoo which is actually a lot more little-child friendly than the Bronx Zoo because you don't have to walk for miles and miles with a cranky toddler! I REALLY miss DH and it breaks my heart when David wakes up every morning and says "I want go daddy". I nearly started crying when he was talking to DH on the phone and he said "Apologize Daddy. I want come" He thinks Daddy's gone away because he's mad at him!!! :(

bathtime we don't use any baby tubs anymore either. I used to bathe G in the Eurotub and DH used to bathe David in the main tub but since last Tuesday, we (my mom and I) put them in the tub together and they have fun with each other splashing around until we break up the party

milk G actually drank some whole milk today straight from the fridge in a cup!!! Who knew that warming it was the problem?

straw cups the tall Munchkin spill proof cups (with spongebob and dora characters on them) are a big hit with both boys... was very excited the day that I tried it with G and he knew how to use them! He must have been watching his brother intently or it may just have been his excitement over Dora (one of his first words by the way was Dora!) :)

Jane glad your BIL is home safely! :)

Shania that is just so sad!! That must have killed your DH to hear that :( :( :( Hope you are doing okay. I hope the rest of the time goes quickly for you

cups katie only loves straw cups. target brand, I think Circo, has some colorful good ones

Katie is doing so many tricks now. She loves to do whatever we ask like clap hands and wave. And especially kisses which is SO sweet. We say kiss mommy and she'll tun around with this huge smile and open her mouth and give me a big wet one. I love it!

eta HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARRISON!!!!!!!

Happy (belated) birthday to Logan and Deborah and Harrison!

Thanks ladies for the bday wishes for Abby. We had a nice birthday weekend, DH and I both took off on Friday and went to the mall to buy her some presents, and had a birthday lunch with her!! We also had a birthday cake at home, just the three of us. It was great. Saturday was her actual party, which she enjoyed very much, I on the other hand woke up with an awful head cold and a 101 fever, so I basically had to grin and bear it for the 3 hour party and slept for the rest of the day and all day Sunday. I'm feeling much better today though.

I cant believe a year has passed, I havent uploaded her party pics yet, but here is a side by side comparison-3 days old and last week (Easter)

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g134/KB5705/2d-1y.jpg

So far so good with Abby and the whole milk, she really enjoys it cold, and I haven't noticed any reactions to it.

We are having sleep issues, I think she is getting more teeth so she has been a very restless sleeper, thrashing around the crib and even crying in her sleep. So nights have not been fun in our house.

Baths-Abby loves the bath, but I am too lazy to get down on my knees and put her in the bathtub so I've been washing her in the kitchen sink. She's starting to grow out of it though, I am going to have to start putting her in the tub.

I still cannot get this girl to say Mommy, Mama, nothing! Only Dada. When I ask "where's mommy?" she points to me and smiles, but she won't say it!!! When I point to DH and ask "who's that?" she's all "dadadadada".

Hope everyone else is doing well, and staying dry if any of you are in the middle of this nor'easter (like me).

BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY ABBY !

BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARRISON !

KB57 – such cute pics of Abby, love her dress.

MILK – they had just started this past Tuesday with their lunch and were doing okay, but they picked up rotovirus. So we’ve halted the milk - I’ve been giving them formula in their bottles to make sure they’re getting enough fluids, no sense pushing the milk and cups right now. Other than messy diapers, they are their usual happy selves and feeling fine.

They were both about the same size at their 1 year WBV, which was 2 weeks after their birthday: Brycen is 22.6 lbs and Devon’s a bit less and both are 29” tall.

Devon signed more the other night, I was so proud, and now she can say it, also. Brycen likes to play peek-a-boo and likes to honk like a goose – it’s the cutest sound. We were able to get close to 2 geese while we were on our walks twice last week so I guess he just picked that up when we would tell Daddy what we saw on our walk.

Thanks for the b-day wishes. I know I don't post much, but I do like hearing the updates on the babies. I can't believe my little guy is 1! I didn't get sad or nostalgic like I thought I might. Maybe b/c we're having another baby so soon?? It's just so fun watching his little personality develop.

His b-day party at school is this afternoon - I baked mini cupcakes last night to take. Hopefully I'll get some cute pics.

H's b-day party isn't til the 28th, and I had to volunteer yesterday afternoon, so we didn't do that much on his actual birthday. Although he did get a waffle for his b-day breakfast, which he loved :p His favorite food is graham crackers - he gets so excited when he just sees the box!

We transitioned to the big tub a week or so ago. It still makes me nervous, he's so squirmy. Does anyone put anything down on the tub floor for bathtime?

Our wbv is tomorrow and will ask for the OK to start whole milk. He's doing great on the sippy - we just use the regular one, w/out a straw.

Wow so many b-day's around these part! Feel free to post party pics because I love to see them!

KB - She sure has grown a lot! Still looks llike her baby pic, but much more of a little lady now!

bath - Ben LOVES the bath as well. He's still in the inflatable tub that fits in the big tub for now.

milk - I'm not planning on starting cow's milk anytime soon. DS is still BFing 6-8x a day and has some cheese or yogurt as well. He seems to handle milk products just fine, but since breastmilk is better anyhow (and free!) we're sticking with that till DS is ready to wean. No AF for me yet either, though I am expecting it before too long as DS has started to sttn.

cups - Ben has the sippy cup (with water, but sometimes bm) a few times a day, but never drinks very much. I've tried the straw as well, but he hasn't figured that one out yet.

Ben's 1st b-day is this Sat and we have a bunch of family coming into town. I am running around like crazy trying to get everything done.

Happy Birthday Harrison!

I took Joey to the dr this morning to recheck the fluid in his ears. His ears are clear now. He's up to 19lb 7oz. So that's only 4oz in a month but the ped didn't say anything about it. She said to keep him on the soy milk for now and in a few months she may want to do do bloodwork to check for a milk allergy. He can continue getting yogurt and cheese since it doesn't seem to bother him. I think it's most likely that he just has trouble digesting the milk for whatever reason since he tolerates other dairy products just fine and never had a problem with me drinking milk when I was nursing. She said some babies just have trouble with it.

working is going ok for me. I'm really really tired. But I'm also coming down with a cold so that doesn't help.

I haven't nursed Joey since Thursday! I guess he is weaned at this point. Kinda sad but kinda relieved at the same time. I did manage to get a little alone time this weekend, didn't get to rest much though.

KB57 - Abby is adorable!

relly - I hope your kiddos feel better soon!

LittleStar - I have a small matt in the tub. I think it helps although it doesn't cover the whole surface. Joey enjoys bathing in the tub now but it makes me nervous too.

Jane - I'm glad your job is going well. Have you bought anything yet?

LittleStar - We have a Sesame Street bath mat that we put down. It keeps both kids from sliding around. Have you found out what you're having? How are you feeling?

Sal - I'm trying to teach Marin how to kiss, but she doesn't get it yet. Hopefully soon!

Marin has developed a horrible rash on her bottom that looks like the chemical burn Caden had last year. I'm not sure if something in her diet caused it or if she's picked something up. She feels really warm today so I went to take her temp and the rectal thermometer isn't working. DH is going to pick one up on the way home.

I'm really sad today about the school shooting and the thread in News about the kid that was burned going down the slide. It makes me want to never let my kids out of my arms. :(

Jane&Andy

Jennifer - I hope Marin feels better soon. I haven't bought anything yet. I get paid on Thursday and I need to present my pay stub in order to get my discount, so I will be shopping on Friday! I haven't seen anyone buy anything during their shift so I don't know if that is frowned on or not.

Happy belated birthday to Deborah, Logan and Harrison!!

We've had the sickies here again. Jacob woke up on Thursday with a fever that finally broke Friday afternoon. He still has a lingering cough but is back to his normal self other wise.

bath - Jacob HATES the bath. Actually he is really scared of it. I don't know what happened but about 5-6 weeks ago he all of a sudden started really being upset and hating the bath. It's getting better but we have to take it really slow. First we look at the bath tub for awhile and then I start the water. He clings to me for awhile while we look at the water. When he is fine with the water and there is enough in the tub I set him on the ledge for a bit. At this point he is still holding on to me and not yet wet... After a bit if he is comfortable I can set him in the water. He still clings to me for a few minutes until he is comfortable. Finally he will be ok and even play for a bit but the whole process of getting him in the bath takes 10 mins or so. I really don't know what happened to make him so scared but he really used to love baths.

Happy belated birthday to all of the newly-one little ones to this point! I read along as often as I can, but never can seem to find time to actually post. I couldn't even remember my password when I just logged in! :)

Quick answer to a few questions rolling around:

Milk - Since T has shown a sensitivity to dairy in my diet we have yet to try any dairy products directly with him. His ped said we should try when he's one, but I'm doing some more research that seems to suggest waiting even longer. Maybe soon I'll try to reintroduce it to my diet and see how he does. I'm still BF, though we only seem to get about 3 good sessions a day (and two where he sometimes won't nurse for more than 30 seconds).

Sippy cups - T can kind of use the Nuby type, but he's not overly into them. He just makes a mess with them. Whoever said they are leak-proof never tried them with my child. :) I only have tried them with water and occasionally (like twice) some very diluted apple juice.

Food - He's still not really into table food. His diet is primarily baby food and a few other things he will eat (cheerios, puffs, baked chicken nuggets). I had to eliminate some things that he was showing a sensitivity to...banana, avocado, strawberries... I'm waiting for the days when T will be willing AND able to broaden his diet!

Bathtime - T loves it. He still sits in the bathseat for the majority of teh time, but at the end I let him sit in the tub so I can wash the backs of his leg and his backside better. But he tends to want to do nothing but stand and I know that's a habit I don't want to allow to continue. He thinks "no" is funny.

His birthday is Friday, but his party isn't until the 29th because my husband has his reserve duty this weekend for the AF. And speaking of the term "AF" --but of an entirely different meaning...I still haven't seen AF's return. I'm not missing her, but then again, it would be nice to know a little more about what's going on with my body!

Baby boy is waking...I better run!

Just in case I don't get in here tomorrow.

Sippy cups - Jacob finally figured out how to use the Nuby straw cups. I gave one to him two days ago and he chewed on it at first but then started sucking on it. I'm so happy. Now that means when he gets good at consistently drinking from them we can ditch his afternoon bottle (hopefully).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BENJAMIN ! a bit early

Bathtime – we’re still using the kitchen sink since we don’t have a tub – well we do but it is still sitting in a box waiting to be installed and I don’t see that happening anytime soon. Fortunately we have a big kitchen sink, and it’s brand new, it’s a single bowl, big and deep, and the babies love it.

Finally spring has arrived up here. I can’t wait to get home and take my babies for a walk. I am especially looking forward to using my Baby Jogger. I bought it over the winter and have yet to try it out. I have wanted one for such a long time, I’m so excited. Hopefully we’ll bump into lots of people out walking their dogs, D&B go crazy every time they see a dog.

Jane - Stopped in Gymboree tonight and thought of you. I only got one outfit off clearance for Marin, but justified it because it was a great deal! :)

QOTD Yogurt We feed both boys Yo Baby yogurt (from Stonyfield Farm) but they both love yogurt so much that they pretty much eat any brand (I buy random brands for myself and they both always want some).

Jennifer Good luck with Marin's feeding. Maybe it's teething? G is getting his molars and is very picky about food these days (and this is my giant that eats EVERYTHING!) Yogurt would be good because it's cold and soothing to their gums :)

Yogurt - We buy yobaby. Jacob loves the stuff. He also really really really loves cheese. He would eat cheese all day long if I would let him.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. We are super busy but it's nice since we didn't do anything last weekend. As soon as Jacob wakes up we are going to my MOMs Club Spring Picnic. After nap we have to go by a gift for my BFF's DS and then we are going to dinner with friends. Tomorrow my parents are having a brunch at their house and then we have a swim party to go to. DH leaves Monday morning to go to SLC. He just got back yesterday but has to go again for 2 days. We've been keeping busy by going to the park most days and going to playgroups.

Kopper same here -- we've been keeping busy to keep ourselves from moping about DH's being gone. The weather was gorgeous today so we went to the park, the carousel and the park zoo (we are becoming regulars at the zoo and David has become good friends with the Dexter cow and the Nigerian goat that he calls Daddy's goat because Daddy is in Nigeria. He actually fed the goat today which is a big step for him) :)

update So I just bought a ticket to London! After I cried my eyes out at the airport when DH was leaving, he was like "Don't worry, we'll see each other in London next month" and I was like "yay"! I spent the past week and half trying to figure out what to do with the boys (whom I have NEVER left for an overnight trip ever since they were born so very emotional decision for me!!!) Anyhoo, my mom who has been with me since DH left volunteered to take them with her to Atlanta (where my sister is having a scheduled c-section during the weekend that I'm in London). I felt guilty doing that to my mom and sister but then my sister called and insisted and her DH said he would help take care of the boys but I was still waffling (they don't know what they're letting themselves in for with a new baby and two very active toddler boys under one roof!) then my other sister called to say she would be in Atlanta for the birth as well and help take care of the boys. To my concern about the newborn, my sister reminded me that the new mom and baby would still be in the hospital by the time my boys leave so it won't be a problem. So now we (me, my mom and my boys) are ALL going to Atlanta the first week in May for a mini girls (mom & sisters) reunion then I will leave them there to meet DH in London and then return to Atlanta to meet my new nephew and get my boys back to NYC. Soooo excited!!! :D

Sorry I wrote a novel :D

Marin is eating like a bird. She refused all of her breakfast except for some milk and a couple of bites of banana. At lunch she had some cheese, cut up grapes and some bagel, but I found most of her food on the floor. I know she's cutting two teeth, but I wish she'd eat. Shania - the trip to London sounds fabulous! have fun! Congrats on getting a new neice or nephew soon!

we finally got our federal tax refund! woohoo! And DH has some time off he needs to burn so hopefully he will buy Joey's swingset soon and put it up. He and his brother chopped down half a tree (the trunk split in two and one half was growing out into the yard and drooping too much) that was in the way of the future swing set so that's one step forward. Of course then he got sick so the half a tree is still there - this is not what I had in mind when I said I wanted the yard cleaned up before my sister and 2yr old neice arrive on Wednesday. And the tree is a death trap for my stick loving dog! I tried to clean up some of it today while Joey is napping but the dog either wanted to be outside with me eating sticks or if I put him inside he yelped and whined - which is a problem when Joey is napping.

Poor Joey had a bad fall yesterday - I tried taking him in the shower with me and he slipped and hit his head. :( Then he fell on the sidewalk and landed on his head - in the same spot.

it's actually a little worse than this picture makes it look.

I went shopping on Friday and enjoyed my Gymbo discount. I went to Janie and Jack too. I love that store but even with a discount it's just too expensive. I still bought him something (outfit in above picture) but I left the store thinking thank goodness it's such a long drive to get there - I won't make that drive often. And then a coworker told me that the mall we work at (only 15min from my house!!) is getting a Janie and Jack this fall! I really don't have any idea how long I'll last at Gymboree - I'm hoping to last through xmas at least - for the discount.

Sleep-AUGH! We too are having issues with sleep. Kyle has slept through the night since 10 weeks old but for the past three weeks has been waking up but the past week it has been 2 to 3 times every night! I too feel like we have a newborn. I have tried everything from buying room darkening curtains, taking out his nightlight, letting him CIO (but just like Cole it made him hysterical). Oh I hope this passes and soon because the lack of sleep is killing me and DH.

shania - Your London trip sounds great. I know DH isn't gone for as long as your DH but it is hard. I'm glad you are staying busy and your mom is there with you. It makes it easier if you are busy.

Jane - Poor Joey! His outfit is very cute! Jacob has a really bad bruise on his check where he bumped it on the fireplace.

jeeplover - We got a ball pit this weekend too! I set it up this morning and Jacob loves it. There aren't enough balls though so I found some on eBay.

sleep - We are doing ok here. He wakes up a few times in the night but it is only for a few seconds at most. He will sometimes cry out once or twice but nothing more than that. I think he may be moving to a later bedtime. I've been having a heck of a time putting him down at night. It can take 45-50 mins sometimes where it used to take 15-30 mins.

Jane sorry about the bad fall. G had one at the library the other day too and instantly got a big shiner on his forehead. I put some ice on it and the swelling went down but the bruise is still there :( Joey looks like such a big boy in that photo though!

Jennifer Sorry about the feeding issues. You can try letting her snack on a cold bagel because that's also soothing to their gums. How did it go with the yogurt?

sleep G has been great with sleep (knock on wood!) If he's not in bed by 7pm, it's war so I try to put him in his crib by 6:59 at the latest and we don't hear a peep from him till about 7am. David on the other hand, I still have to lie down with him to get him to fall asleep but then he sttn as well. jeeplover - I don't go to Tuesday Morning often but I'm always surprised by what I can find there.

Happy Birthday Anders!

jeeplover - I just did a search on eBay for "ball pit" and found tons of auctions. I was able to get 100 balls for 8.99 plus 9.99 shipping. I didn't even think about Tuesday Morning... I've only been there once.

I got 50 balls for $10 at Tuesday Morning. My sister actually saw them there and remembered that I was looking for some - I never would have thought to look there. And for some reason I didn't think of ebay either.

We're going to be in the toddler group soon!

Marin is still refusing to walk. If she needs to get somewhere, she gets down and crawls. I guess she isn't in a hurry. She has discovered toilet paper. When I take Caden in, she is right behind us and goes straight for the tp and tries to unroll it. I've had to take it off the roll in two bathrooms.

Both kids are napping and instead of catching a nap myself, here I am on CC.

TP is a lot of fun in our house. ;) We bought a toilet paper lock and that has cut down some of his interest. He now loves trying to open the toilet and splash the water. :o  I have to watch him like a hawk in the bathroom.

We are going to our town's Truck Rodeo in a little bit. The town brings all their trucks to the library and lets the kids see and climb in them. They have a police cruiser, fire truck, ambulance, garbage truck, tree trimming truck, water truck and some others. Should be fun! :)

Kopper - how was the truck rodeo, sounds like fun

For the past 2 nights, Devon won't go to bed. As soon as we turn off the light she stands up and starts wailing. She cries so hard she starts to gag, we try to wait it out but she's so upset, with huge tears falling down her cheek - we then go get her and calm her down.

We put them both to bed at the same time. Sometimes they'll play a little, sometimes they lay there quietly and drift off to sleep, or one plays and the other just lays there (their cribs are next to each other). But now this.

Anyone have any experience with this or ideas on what to do?

relly we are going through the exact same thing... I think Cole is getting a molar but it took me almost 2 hours to calm him and get him to sleep last night...
they used to go to bed without a fuss and this has been going on for over a week now..sorry I dont have any advice..

jrsygirl - 2 hours sounds about right for Devon too. For the past 2 nights my husband has cuddled with her and finally she falls asleep in his arms. He doesn't mind, he's been watching the Red Sox and actually he's fallen asleep quicker then her.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FINLEY !

Devon was at it again last night, but instead of turning towards the doorway, she blasted her poor brother. Thankfully, he just fell asleep, and eventually she conked out due to sheer exhaustion, she hadn't napped all that much during the day. But at midnight she was up screaming so we just brought her to our bed, we were too exhausted to put up a fight, plus poor Bryce didn't need to be woken up too.

Relly and Jrsygirl Sorry about the sleep issues. quite frankly, they suck! Katie had been a mess this past week getting up for the day at 4:45-5am YUCK. But last night I tried something new and put her to sleep earlier and she slept through until 6:10am. whohoo! whoever thought I would be thrilled to sleep until 6am???

He is so adorable and goofy. I love this little man.

We got his one year pics and Jillian's 2 year pics done last week. I'l have to post them when they finally come in. They came out great!

We had a little party with family and friends at our house today. It was a beautiful day here in colorado and the party went off without a hitch.

Happy belated birthday to everyone I missed!

It sure is quiet in here. DH is out of town this week (3rd week in a row) but will be back for the next two weeks. It's been hard since Jacob has not been going to sleep very easy and has been waking up at around 5:30am every morning. I need to do something about his sleep but we haven't decided what yet. We thought about moving his bedtime back to 7 from 6:30 or trying to go to one nap. The problem with moving his bedtime back is that the times he has gone to be later he still wakes up early. The days when he has only had one nap he has only slept for 1 hour and been super cranky in the evening. I just can't decide what is better.

We are off to the park before it gets too hot.

kopper I feel for you! DH is also travelling..He is gone for a total of 19 days this month :(
We have been having extreme sleep issues lately and someone actually recommended we move their bedtime up earlier...so we figured we had nothing to lose and gave it a try...we were shocked when they had the best night sleep in months ...

Have fun at the park :0 I wish I was home playing with my babies instead of stuck in the crappy city :)

Kopper and jrsygirl - sorry about your DHs traveling so much. that stinks. :(

nothing much going on here. My sister and 2yr old neice just came for a visit, so that was fun.

Gymboree has scheduled me for a ton of hours next week so I need to talk to the manager and find out what is going on. If they're going to schedule me for that many hours on a regular basis then I'm going to quit. So that stinks.

I took Joey to visit a friend that lives by the beach yesterday. I'm glad I didn't buy him a sandbox b/c he freaked over the sand

Kopper - I hope the time without your DH goes quickly!

jrsygirl - Have they continued to sleep better? Marin is always in bed by 7 (most nights 6:30) and I think the earlier bedtime makes such a difference.

Jane - I'm sure the money is great, but not if you have to work all the time. Have you done anymore shopping?

Marin is finally off bottles! I'm so happy to finally be rid of them. She's drinking milk most of the time and very, very diluted juice after her naps. She still has no interest in walking. I don't know how to encourage her. We got out Caden's FP walker-thingy and she just sits and plays with it instead of trying to walk behind it.

jane LOl. Poor Joey...that was Cole's exact expression over the grass the first time so I'm fully expecting that same reaction to the beach ... :) We are installing their sandbox brian built this weekend so they can practice!

Sleep has been so-so- better but not great. I think a lot of it has to do with teething. Cole has a huge knot on his gums that look like an explosion of teeth is coming in the back.

Jrsygirl - Devon will now go to sleep right away, but she wakes up in the middle of the night crying, then she stands up in her crib and starts jumping up and down. I've resorted to getting her out of bed and she and I lay down on the chaise lounge in their room, and we drift off to sleep together for a few hours, then I put her back in her crib. I'm sure that's a bad habit I shouldn't be doing. I need to let her CIO but she'll wake her brother.

Bottles - we're officially done with them.

Gymboree is kicking my butt. I worked all day today. It was my fourth out of five days in a row. I did get some answers as to why I am scheduled so much this week. Hopefully this won't be a regular thing. I am enjoying it but it's exhausting too.

Katie has taken 3 steps twice and takes 1 step a lot. So I am thinking she is close!! We have moved her bedtime to 6:30 and she has been waking at 6 instead of 5 which has been MUCH nicer!! Oh and she is taking whole milk now, I added ovaltine to it!

We are having a rough day. First Jacob woke up when I put him down for his nap and wouldn't go back to sleep and now he is refusing to eat anything but cheese and crackers. He doesn't want tangerines (he normally loves them) and spits out the sweet potato. He refuses to let me feed him but when I give him food to feed himself he just throws it on the ground and laughs. The only thing he never throws is cheese.

DH and I are on vacation this week. We spent yesterday looking at nursery and big boy room bedding and furniture and then stopped at a couple of car dealerships and *think* we may have found an SUV to buy. 2 issues though: the SUV with the features we want is at a different dealership and our dealer isn't sure it's still available (should know sometime this morning) and (2) the dealership gave us a really low trade-in value for our current SUV. We're going to run up to CarMax this morning to see what they offer for our current Tahoe. We just don't want to go through the hassle of trying to sell the Tahoe ourselves, but at the same time, I want to be satisfied with the trade-in $$ we get. We'll see...

My mom's flying in tomorrow, and then DH and I are off to a local hotel for a few days. Can't wait!

H is walking all over the place now - it's been neat to see him progress from walking some of the time to all of the time. And he's so fast  I need to keep a close eye on him.

I feel a little guilty for taking H to daycare these few days :o

I had H with me at the grocery store on Sunday, and was trying to keep him entertained/amused, so I asked him to show me his nose (which I knew he knew), then show me your bellybutton (again, I knew he knew), then even though I didn't think he knew, I said, show me your ear...and he pointed right to it! Then I said, show me your mouth, and again he pointed right to his mouth! I was shocked, b/c I hadn't tried to teach him that. When I got home, I asked (jokingly) if DH was teaching H things behind my back, and he said that earlier that morning while I was at the office he taught H those parts. I still can't believe my baby is growing up.

Kopper - H looovves to throw his food. He's taken to saying "BAH!" as he throws it, then laughs and laughs. During the week, I only feed him dinner (has breakfast and lunch at school, where I think he eats pretty well). Anyway, for dinner, he has a few bites of what I make (last night it was green beans and macn cheese), but then just wants peaches. and even then, only eats 2 or 3 slices before saying "done".

Littlestar, how are you feeling?

HI everyone -- MIA forever, I know. Trying to get everything together and ready to go for baby 3, sometime in the next 2 weeks (yikes!) But we keep getting sick, and I'm just exhausted and can't ever get much done.

Whitney has been a mess lately with sleep -- I know it's mostly just her trying to switch to one nap, but she always wants her morning nap still at like 9 and then gets up at 11 and won't go back to sleep all day. 11 until 7 is just WAY too long. And when I do manage to stretch her nap until 11 or 12, I have to blackout her room again (for bedtime too) or she screams, and she still only sleeps 1.5 hours most of the time. Plus she's waking up a lot at night again, and waking up earlier in the morning.... ugh. NOT what I want to be dealing with right now. But, sounds like it's normal for this age.

We're nowhere near getting off bottles. I can't get her to drink cold milk, and I haven't had much success getting her to drink formula out of a cup, either. She drinks a ton of water from cups... to some degree I don't want to stress over it, because it's going to be a nasty battle dropping bottles when there's a new baby drinking bottles right in front of her.

Also no walking and really no words -- still lots of intense babbling with great purpose though LOL

Anyway -- sorry I haven't taken notes and there's no way for me to catch up, but I've been trying to read along -- hope everyone is doing well.

Anyone doing anything special for Mother's Day??

Littlestar- great b-day pics! Hope you have a good visit with your mom!

Jane - Sorry Gymbo has been keeping you so busy. Just remember that employee discount!

Sal - Yay for steps! Ben seems to be in the same place at Katie. He started taking a few steps on Sunday and he's been getting a little better each day!

Kopper - Sometimes Ben has food strike days like that. Sunday all he wanted to do was nurse all.day.long. When Ben starts throwing food I take him out of the high chair and we move onto something else. I just offer again later and figure he'll eat if he's hungry.

Ben took his first few steps on Sunday and he was even better yesterday. I finally got a little video after tempting him with a pen and cookies :)
