My stepdad has to go on an uber-low-salt diet, which is really restricting what my family can eat. They can only put salt-free Mrs. Dash on a chicken breast so many times, ya know?
So one of the things I want to get my stepdad for Christmas is a whole bunch of easy, low-salt rubs and spice combinations, so he doesn't get bored with just one flavor. Something they can just quickly sprinkle on meats or veggies to change it up a bit. They love Tony Chachere's, if anyone knows of something low-salt or salt-free like that.
Thank you!

Check out Penseys (http://www.penzeys.com/). They have great spices and I know my mom gets low salt and no salt mixes for me dad here.

Have they tried the flavored Mrs. Dash? The Seasoning Blends are AWESOME, and there are like 12 different ones. They have everything from Extra Spicy to Tomato,Basil, Garlic. I think there are 8 different Seasonings and 4 different grill seasonings. Also the Mrs. Dash Marinades are yummy too! There are I think 4 different flavors and they are 10 minute marinades which is great for last minute meals.
Also as someone that had to go on a really restricted sodium diet, some things to consider as a source of sodium...softened tap water. I had to switch to bottled water.

Trader Joes has some salt free seasonings in their spice section.
I use them and they are great. I agree, Mrs. Dash gets old, fast.

Thanks for the ideas, ladies. I'd heard of Penzey's, but wasn't sure if they had salt-free blends or were more geared towards real foodies who mix things up themselves.
And I never even THOUGHT about the water softener as a source of sodium!!! Thank you!
