Ok, this is a problem...my DD hasn't worn socks since she was 8 months old and it started getting hot outside. So from months 8-14 she has been barefoot or has worn Robeez.

Yesterday I went to put socks on her and she freaked out. Royally freaked out. Like laying on the floor on her back screaming like she was going to die freaked out.

HELP! What am I supposed to do? Do I have to Ferberize her by letting her CIO with the socks on?

HELP!

stick socks on and then put robeez on over em?

My 14 mo old generally pulls her socks off within a few hours after putting them on

Yeah, that's an idea but the problem is, as soon as she got the socks on she became totally hysterical. I think if I put the Robeez on she would just go nuts!

This is so annoying. Serves me right for keeping her barefoot for so long.

My DD (17 mos) isn't hysterical or anything but she pulls them off the minute you put them on so shoes must go on ASAP.

Can you try making a game out of putting on the socks? So she thinks they are fun? Maybe let her play with a few? My DD likes to take her socks and put them in other toys etc. (like the Fisher Price school bus).

Maybe talk to her about the socks, like "let's put on our socks". If you say that to DD she puts them on top of her feet (she can't actually put them on her feet yet).

good luck!

I don't have any advice, but I wanted to tell you you aren't alone! My DD is the same way. She has always hated socks. All last winter, she'd yank em right off, in public, at home, anywhere. I'd be out with her and people would look at me like I was crazy - 30 degrees out side, and my 8 month old had no socks on!!

She is 19 months, and now with the cold weather, and having to put on socks with shoes, she seems to be better dealing with the socks. Now, she's into pulling off her 8 month old brother's socks off!!

Thanks ladies. I think I will try the "let's play with socks" approach and see if that works. Maybe if she watches me put my socks on and I act all happy, she will want some too? She tends to like to do whatever I am doing.

Sigh. Who knew this would be an issue!!

No advice, but you have my sympathies. DS hated shirts with collars and buttons. He would freak out whenever I tried putting one on him, so I stopped buying that kind. At least I had other options, unlike your situation with the socks.

Maybe you could try little Ugg boots? You don't need socks with those...
