I started this new thread a week early:o , but I figured since our first May Mommies will be starting the 2nd trimester next Monday, it would be a good time to get this thread started!
I cant believe we have all come this far! Best of luck to us all!
I am a surprise baby!

Awww, how I wish that the title of this thread was already true for me! This waiting for the seemingly safer second trimester is killing me. I hope I will find some more peace of mind when the time of my missed abortion has passed (she died at 9w6d and I found out at 10w4d) or even better after the first trimester screening with the NT screening.
We will find out the sex, either as time goes by or maybe Iīll have an amnio, depending on the results of the first trimester screening. If I could choose, I would love to have another girl for the one weīve lost.
My next ultrasound appointment is on October 26th.
And as September 30th has already passed, you can change my age to 34.

We are going to hear the heartbeat on Wednesday! So, my hubby and I are SO excited :)
Gender prediction- I think it is a girl! We think we are going to wait until birthday to find out...

Figures...I had a grand finale "cookie toss" over the weekend. Today I actually had energy to clean the kitchen AND sweep and mop the floors. WOW, now that has not happend in a long time. I still feel a little yucky but my energy is coming back :) yay!

I WISH that I was in the second trimester. Although I'm feeling a little more calm now that we have seen the baby twice, I think I'll feel even more at ease in 2 weeks.
Morning sickness has started. That has not been fun. But all the same I am just so happy to be pregnant, and really am happy to be sick.
We're going to find out the sex in either Dec. or Jan. I think it's going to be a boy.

Yay for a new thread! Although...I still have 2-1/2 more weeks before I'm in Tri 2. That's ok. I don't mind.
I'm hoping that I will be able to find out what we are having the week before Christmas. Although I'll only be 19 weeks, DH will be out of town that week until the 23rd and I really want to surprise him for Christmas. I have this whole little plan where I was going to send 2 pairs of baby shoes wrapped inconspicuously and tell him which one to open when I find out. We'll see how that goes, but it's my hope. Then I can share with the rest of the fam on Christmas Eve.:D :D
I am just so thrilled, I wouldn't mind having either and I really don't have a preference. (DH is dying for a boy to go fishing and surfing with:))

foxyboo751~I feel the same way being in the April thread. Everyone is at 15 weeks ish and I am still just at 11w:p But I know I will get there! LOL!
I hope baby lets you know what he or she is! What a great way to tell your hubby! Especially if he cant be there for the u/s!

Foxy: What a great idea!!! How much fun!
Bella: Happy Birthday (sorry it's late!)
Wow, 2nd trimester already huh.....eeekkkk! :) DH and I are hoping to find out the sex, we can't handle the wait!! We would go nuts! I'm really hoping for a boy, DH lost his dad when he was young, and I think it would really help heal old wounds. We shall see!
Okay ladies, I need some advice!!! I've been having some AF type cramps lately (not bad, but just enough to feel yucky!). There has been a very very small amount of brownish blood when I use the bathroom, however, tonight there was a lot of bright pink blood (alot more that before!!!) I'm kinda freaked out, I know books say blood is normal, but I did call the dr. and they want to see me tomorrow.....as they have never seen me yet for this pregnancy). Has anyone had these same symptoms? Thanks in advance!!!
Have a great night ladies and crazy dreams!! :)

Wow, this thread moves fast! *Subscribing* We'll find out the sex in January. I'm hoping for a girl (little sister for DD) and DH is hoping for a boy, of course ;)
Congrats to everyone who's in the second trimester! I'm only 8 weeks 3 days, so I really have a while until the 2nd trimester. Dangit :)
Thanks to everyone for the advice on the bleeding. It has stopped, and I never had cramping, pain, or anything like that. My appointment is still next Monday for the u/s and stuff, so we're looking forward to that.
Am totally off food right now. I don't eat much in the morning, lunch is the best, and then whatever sounds good for dinner. Tonite it was just banana bread. I know it's not best for the baby, but I'm doing the best I can until I can enjoy other stuff.
As for maternity clothes, the ones that I found managed to last the entire pregnancy. I just bought the size the clothes told me to, and they seemed to fit. Lots of women I talk to said they had the worst trouble with shirts right at the end, but for the most part, they just stuck with what they'd bought in the beginning. Pants may be a little large for a while, but you'll grow into them, and lots of them are adjustable! So that's nice.
Well, that's it for me for a while. Am so tired, cranky, yucky feeling. But at least I get to stay home with DD and don't have to go to work or school or anything. I still manage to get stuff done when I'm feeling up to it in the afternoon. Am off to bed now tho! Have a great week girls!

I hope the bleeding means nothing! GOOD LUCK TODAY!
emilyln~I'm glad the bleeding has stopped for you!
And YUM for banana bread. We actually bought some while grocery shopping on the weekend! It TOTALLY hit the spot for me too!
Hope you are feeling well today!
giry76~SOOOOOOOO FUNNY! You wanted your due date changed! When I changed mine yesterday I felt sad thatyou and I werent due date buddies anymore, as my new due date is the 4th, but it looks like we still are!
LOL! Too funny!
I moved you to "surprise baby", as you wont be telling anyone!
Hope everyone is well. I ate a McDonalds burger last night. First burger since finding out we were pregnant! I had a Big Extra:) YUMMY!
Other than that, strange strange dreams still........I am finding it hard to sleep b/c of the dreams:p Well, that and bathroom breaks:p LOL!
I am also beginning to show! It is SO EXCITING! I have a small bulge just above my pubic bone:) heehee! I am wearing my mat pants as I cant zip up my old ones, but they are still pretty big for now, but boy are they comfy:D
Hope everyone has a GREAT DAY!

Yes...we will be finding out the sex of the baby I always thought for DC#2 we'd wait and let it be a surprise. BUT I really want to know since I'm hoping for a girl. I'll be happy no matter what we have but I would sooooo love a baby girl :o
Monty that would be so sweet if you had a baby boy. And crazy dreams....definetly going on here every night. Usually their weird vivid dreams but last night I dreamed about experiencing a miscarriage:eek: Freaked me out since I went thru one before but I'm feeling fine and I know these dreams are just DREAMS. I hope your appt goes well today:)

I just found our new thread--I can't wait for the 2nd trimester to begin, I'm hoping my skin will clear up!
As for updates, we are still 'discussing' finding out the gender and my next Dr appt is Nov. 13th for the h/b.
We didn't find out with DS, and DH promised that if we had another child, we could find out the gender. Now he's trying to take back that promise :rolleyes: I'm too practical, either I can use all of the stuff I've kept, or I need to start hitting garage sales now.
I remembered this morning why I loved being pg so much: the great sex dreams and the even better libido boost :o :D There's nothing better than not having to worry about getting knocked up!
I thought there was something else I wanted to say but heck if I can remember it now.

Due date is May 18-ish.
I'm also on LJ so pm me if you want to be friended - I'm meli_g11 over there :)
Hi again! I was just catching up on the old thread - I haven't checked in about a week.
I too have been breaking out like crazy - and in the weirdest places! (brow bone - can't do anything about it!, neck, chest, back?!)
On my face I do use Proactiv. I saw that some of you were stopping using it. Actually I used to use other stuff (which worked better) but had to stop when we TTC. My OB actually recommended Proactiv. She said you can use benzoyl peroxide (which is what is in Proactiv) or salycilic acid, etc.
Just MUST stay away from anything with retin A or retynol in it.
Hope that helps ease some minds regarding Proactiv - use it and use it happily knowing that it is safe. :)

Holy moly is it weird to see us at 2nd tri!!!!
Put me on the green team - we won't be finding out - neither of us a have a huge desire and it's not like you can send it back to change it! :D I don't have a strong feeling either way if it's a boy or a girl - I just want healthy. Timing makes me think it might be a boy and hubby really wants a boy but I'm actually pulling for girl just for the sake that I have a slight clue what I'm getting into with a girl.

Double digits for me tomorrow, yay!
I thought the 2nd tri didn't start until 14 wks, are some of us that far already? :confused:
Haven't been around in a while but am feeling better!
Unfortunately despite my not wanting to eat anything for the first several weeks I have already gained 5+ lbs. :( Not what I want to be seeing when my goal for the whole pregnancy is 15. I swear I have been mostly good, but I guess the desserts I let myself have from time to time should have been no no's.
Anyway, some updates:
I turned 31 last week.
I'll be on the Green Team, though that is subject to change and I think I will end up being on giry76's team. :)
Monty -
I hope they find the cause of your bleeding and that it is nothing serious!

OMG...I just wrote this huge post and then my power flashed off.
Anyways, I'll make it shorter.
Breakouts, everywhere! (I've even had a few on my rearend! :eek: )
Dreams ~ Lucky you Hawaii - mine have all been about people dying.
As far as showing...yes, enough so that a few random women that I have told have asked what I'm having. I mean, I had a "LITTLE" extra weight (but not too much over), and I've only gained 4 pounds. But, I guess it's enough. Plus, very few of my pants will zip and my breasts! Well, as if they weren't large enough already. The buttons on most shirts will barely even stay closed!
Oh well! The joys of pregnancy. I guess I shouldn't complain because I'm not having m/s. You win some, you lose some. :):)

Hi there! We had a great vacation in Vermont, and got back in time to have a great checkup and u/s (though still "dildocam" at this point), with the OB today.
[xpost from my LJ]
Great blood pressure (mine)
Good blood results (mine, in from the lab 2 weeks ago)
Weight is fine (lost 3 more pounds, but will probably feel more like eating soon.)
Great heartbeat (baby's)
Good yolk sack
Perfect measurement (exactly what midwife, FF, and I estimated last time)
Definitely only one (although she certainly looked around long enough--someone owes me a dinner!)
I told her that I hadn't taken my prenatal vitamins for over a week because I couldn't keep much down, and she said I could take 2 "Fred Flintstones" a day until I can eat and swallow normally again. Also, the OB thinks it is a girl, because she says girls always cause her patients worse morning sickness. I keep saying 'he', though.
I am definitely on the purple team. I can't wait to find out, because I quilt, knit, and crosstitch, and I want to personalize things just like I did with DS.
Next OB checkup is Nov. 20.

Thanks for the good thoughts ladies! It was a horrible day yesterday, and I'm sure you all can relate! We are new to the area so I don't have a doctor that I've gone too, so I found one that I "thought" would be good. Well, it may be good, but it's huge and you get lost with 25 other pregnant women! My apt. was at 12:00 and I didn't leave until 3 PM!!! I was so frustrated! Well, the doctor did an internal exam and said that he thought I might have ??? ( I can't remember the name, but it's when the blood vessels on your utuerus appear on the outside and so anything you do can cause bleeding). He said it was very normal but wanted me to do an ultrasound.
Well, after I waited 1 hour for the ultrasound she finally did the scan. The baby measured at 6 weeks (which I was thinking I was almost 8 weeks, but if I count days from probably conception, 6 weeks actually works) So, I wasn't worried. However, the doc went nuts on me and said there must be something wrong and the baby isn't growing and blah blah blah.....arrrrggggg....I was so frustrated, because 6 weeks makes sense to me!!! He kept pulling out that stupid little wheel and telling me that I was 8 weeks and that we need to have more tests run! However, to top it off (and the part I'm worried about) is that the babies HR is only around 79. I asked the tech if that was normal and she said "it can be, but you have bleeding" and then she told me to ask the doc. Well, doc didn't know! So, then I had to go to the hospital (and pay another deducatable) and have my HCg levels drawn and then do it again on Thursday to see if they double. What a mess!
And I was so sad, because my DH didn't get to see our little baby and his heart beating!!!! But, it was so cool!!
Anyhow, have any of you had low HR's? I've done alot of research on this overnight and I've found that the HR increases about 3.3 beats per day, and starts at 5 weeks around the mom's HR. The site said that would be around 80 BPM, however, I have a really low HR....so maybe that's why the HR was low??? Maybe the baby is just a superstar!!! I'm so worried, and I feel so uninformed........I just kept reading that low HR was a sign of a possible death, but I'm trying to stay very positive.
Anyone have anything like this?? I'm sorry for the long post.....I needed someone to vent to.
Thanks guys. I go back on Thur. to see crazy Doc. but I've found another practice that only has 4 doc's and they were much nicer on the phone!!!!

Monty~ (((hugs))) to you. What an ordeal you went through yesterday. When I had my u/s last week, I was measuring 6 weeks when I thought I was a little further along as well, and the heartrate was at 110. I definitely think you are doing the right thing by looking for a doctor you feel comfortable with and who can answer your questions. Good luck, I'll be thinking good thoughts for you and your baby.

foxyboo751~Same here. I have gained 4 pounds, but its enough that people have started asking already! Its crazy!
Chicksinger~That is GREAT about such a good doc appointment! I'm still waiting for my blood results to come back....I'm going crazy! Altho, unless something is wrong, they wont go over the results with me until my next appoint which in Nov 10th....SO FAR AWAY! ugh. I am such a worry wart.......
Hmmmm, and I dont really have any m/s but I am Sure it is a girl:p Just with the timing and everything...chances are more likely to be a girl. I cant wait until "birth" day to find out:p LOL!
Monty~OMG, what an ordeal for them to put you through like that. (HUGS)
I cant believe they would purposely scare you that way.
Thinking of you and hoping for a GREAT doc appointment tomorrow!
Well....I feel sad that I should be 12 weeks tomorrow....but I wont be until Friday! So silly, I know......
I keep worrying about my blood tests, and something being wrong. I was told unless something is wrong, they will go over my results with me at my next appoint which isnt until Nov 10th. Fells like such a long time to wait.
Oh well........
Hope everyone is well today!

Monty: So sorry that you had to go through all that. That doctor you went to sound crazy. I think switching to a different one would be a great idea!
I had my first app. yesterday. They did not do a thing. I just had blood drawn and talked to the nurse and answered a million questions. I have an ultrasound next Wed because I was not sure of the date of my last period. This pregency seems much more complicated that my first because of my age. So many more tests ect. I DO NOT want an amino.... Does anyone know if I have to have one???? I am 36 so I know I do need extra tests, but I think they can do a nucal???? something ultrasound...
Add my to one of the ones that is going to find out the sex. I just have way too much girl stuff already and if I do have a boy I need all new. So I would like to be prepared.

jessmaine~I know alot is different in Canada, but my doctor said they give you a choice to get the different blood tests for downs sydrome and amnio etc under 35......she didnt say what happens after 35.
Sorry your first appoint was so boring:( Not too much longer to wait for your u/s tho:D

monty -- i hope everything turns out ok, from my uneducated opinion, i would just rest your mind and assume all is well until otherwise informed. it doesn't seem like your doctor is very sensative to an already stressfull time for a mom, of course you are going to panic/stress if anything seems abnormal, and the fact he/she didn't calm those fears seems very insensative. I would def. look for a different practice. If you are already getting treatment like that now, I wouldn't even want to think about how it could be if you have pre-term contractions, etc. I think it would be well worth your time to look around (like it sounds you are already doing). Also....if you know when you ovulated, go by that. I charted with my first pregnancy, and everything was right in line with when I knew I ovulated, but of course was off by the pregnancy wheel. Some doctors just depend on that wheel way too much.
updatnext ob appt (with dildocam) oct 27 I am very excited and nervous, pls be a heatbeat!
no more kidney stone problems, thank goodness. but am tired all the time...esp with a toddler running around. i am very anxious to get past this first trimester (which for me is a ways away still).
take care everyone!

I had a checkup today and I got to HEAR the heatbeat! I knew they would try to hear it but I was prepared for them not to find it. But after a little looking she found it. After a few seconds it faded because the baby had moved so she played "tag" with the baby a few time. I thought it was very cute and shows the baby is pretty active already. She said they listen for the rate to be between 120 and 180? and to see if it is steady. Mine was 160 and very steady. It was pretty cool.
Last night was the first night I felt like I couldn't really sleep on my stomach. Looks like I am going to have to break out the body pillow tonight.
My next OB appointment is Nov 15

Monty I hope you find an office that takes better care of you! Good luck! (I had to go to 3 different doctors before I found a "keeper".) Also, seconding aidensmommy, if you know when you O'd, go by that. In fact, if you're sure of the O, just do your own calculation and tell "that" date to any other doctors you seek out. That stupid little wheel of theirs only works if you O exactly on CD14.
Sunshine Don't believe all you read about Shettles and "timing"! I was charting with DS, so I know that we only BD 5 days before my O, but here he is, all boy!
jessmaine No one can force you to have an amnio. Yes, it is recommended after age 35, but if you do the nuchal fold u/s and the AFP blood test and there no elevated risk shown, there's really no call for a "required" amnio, right? (I am not considering an amnio at this time, even though I will be 37 in 2 weeks.) Consider your family health history and do what feels right for you. Less stress makes for a healthier mom AND baby! :)
giry76 How great that you got to hear the HB. Mmmm, body pillow...I need to find mine pretty soon!
Sunshine

Chicksinger~You know what? I had it all backwards. I could have sworn the further away you timed it it would be a boy, the closer was a girl.....Well then, maybe my prediction isnt so right. We BD'd after I O'd! I was sure it would be a girl b/c of that:p Guess I wasnt erading Shettles right anyhow! LMAO!
Thanks tho! I know it isnt a science...
giry76~HOW GREAT you got to hear the heartbeat! I have found I cant sleep on my stomach now either. I need to buy a body pillow. I've just been using an extra pillow until I can go out and buy one for now:p Doesnt work all that well! LOL!
aidensmommy~I'm glad you arent having anymore kidneystone problems:D

Wow this thread moves at the speed of light!!
I hope you are all doing well and my thoughts are with those going thru a rough patch right now. Hang in there and keep positive vibes!!!
We are currently in the "screening" phase of the PG which I happen to think is the pits. Last PG, my HCG's came back higher, which combined with my age, gave us false positive for downs/trisomy etc. (DD turned out A-OK tho)
So, yesterday I went for the NT u/s, which I think went well. Head to rump measured 49mm and NT measured 1.3mm. I have been reading that an NT under 2 is considered normal. Lets hope.
Baby bean was not active, so the tech made me shake my booty, to stir him/her up. And that seemed to do the trick, but then actually made it more diffucult b/c the bugger wouldnt stop squirming!!
It was neat to see the baby again, but surreal also.
Seems the NT u/s went well, and so far so good, but I'm still holding my breath for the bloodwork as that was my downfall last time.
Crossing "everything" for a good outcome! LOL :D
Oh, and while still too early for a postive gender id, I still say BOY. Just my intuition and also I *think* I got a sneakypeaky at the "goods" yesterday..but the techie wouldn't confirm...although I think she agreed w/me...I was trying to read her expression. LOL
So far, I've gained 2 pounds which seems CRAZY to me b/c all I want to do is eat! I so expected to have gained a lot more..I can put on wt SO Fast and easily its amazing. So I was surprised to find today, I'm only 2lbs up.
I either want all bad things (fast food) or else totally healthy things like salad and veggies.
Go figure. But definitely no *in between foods* are appealing, and the thought of chicken, turns my stomach!!
Still havent heard the HB yet, but they did measure, and it was a healthy 170bpm....again,(old wives tale) higher bpm = boy....but again, just my "intuition" ! LOL
Well, I've blabbed enough.
Oh, one more thing, as I HAVE NO IDEA on the actual conception date, and I cannot for the life of me remember my LMP, the EDD given at my 1st OB appt was originally 5/5..and then with another look it went to 5/4 ...
That would make me somewhere around 11w4d or so.
Well, yesterday, the scan came back at 11w8d..which I thought weird. CAN U be 8d? Wouldnt that make you 12w?
So I'm still confused....
I guess my EDD is anywhere between the end of April and the 5th of May.
With DD I knew EXACTLY when she was conceived, so this time, I'm a little stumped.
Hope you all have a great day!

Congrats! Ok, I have a question - I have heard that this step is a great one, to not only see the heartbeat, but to hear it. What did they use to hear it? The reason I ask is that at 7 weeks I got u/s with dildocam and when we saw the heart beating she turned on the sound and we heard it. But does that count?
Is u/s how you are hearing it?

Oops - didn't realize we had another thread!
My first appointment is coming up - Monday, 10/23.
And yes, we will be finding out the sex when the time comes. DH is convinced that it's a boy, but I have no prediction because I don't want to be disappointed if it's not what I expected. I have no idea how to predict using Shettles, because we DTD for 3 consecutive days before O and then on the day of O. I don't know which one stuck. :p
Things are okay here. I'm fighting a cold / sinus headache, but other than that, I feel great. My family noticed my bump this past weekend, and I got "busted" in Target the other day, but when I really pay attention to what I'm wearing, I've been able to hide it pretty well from those who don't know, yet.
Ok, I am at work and sooo itching to tell my coworkers, but DH and I agreed that we are waiting until 12 weeks to tell everyone!
The trouble is... I think I'm starting to show. I'm not sure if it is noticeable, but I think it is. My belly is totally sticking out (usually it's flat - I was lucky, but alas, those days are over, hopefully to return again one day!!). Especially after I eat it sticks out a lot.
I kind of lurked around on CC a little on other threads and considering this is my first and I didn't have any belly before I think I'm kind of big for this stage. :eek: OH well!!
I have an OB appt tomorrow so I will get to find out.
KeliAnn, so glad to know I'm not the only one!
I think as soon as I tell people they will say they were suspicious!
I've also been eating crazy stuff.

Just a quick post and then I have to get back to work...
Does anyone know what the risk of miscarriage is after seeing a heartbeat? I am really having a hard time with this....
I made it to 8 weeks, hooray!
L&D Nurse
10-18-2006, 02:14 PM
suzfuzsunflower~ My doctor said that the miscarriage rate decreases to less than 5% after seeing a heartbeat (down from 30-50% m/c rate for pregnancies overall).
melg-they use a doplar to hear the heartbeat. This is usually heard around 12 weeks. Last time I had an appointment at 11 weeks and we couldn't get it with the doplar. So we went back the following week and you could hear it. If I remember correctly the but ultrasound gel on your tummy and listen that way.

I feel the same way. At only 8 weeks, my stomach is very different. I can tell a difference, and appearantly so can my kids that I teach at school (7th graders) - they started figuring it out last week, and by this Monday just about all of my 150 students were asking if I was pregnant. :eek: I had wanted to wait until right before Thanksgiving before telling them, but since they already knew I went ahead and talked with them about it. They are so excited! I did explain to them that there are a lot of things that can go wrong in early pregnancy and it's still early.
I feel badly when I read the books that say your stomach shouldn't change much until 10-12 weeks, and just a little at that point - and when I look at the Belly Shots thread here. My stomach looks huge! And I haven't gained any weight or changed my eating (too much). I don't know where it's coming from! :)

Sorry to not do proper replies, but it's so hard to keep up with a toddler. :p I was glad to read most everyone is doing well - hearing heartbeats - and all that good fun stuff! :D
I went to the doc yesterday for sharp, stabbing pains in my lower abdominal area. Turns out to be 'round ligament pain'. Joy, joy! But Shrimp is fine! :D He/She was kicking around like crazy! Heartrate was 174 bpm. You know what they say about a high heartrate. ;)
Anyway - I'll try to keep up more!!

KeliAnn~I hope you feel better soon!!!!
melg~We were the same, wanting to wait until 12 weeks. But we took the day off when we found out so I had to tell our HR manager. Well, a month after we found out, his GF had a baby. They brought the baby in and without even thining, he slipped up and told the people in my office:p
So, in one way I was upset, but it was so much easier with everyone knowing too!
Hope yuor wait goes by quickly!
suzfuzsunflower~Happy 8 weeks yesterday!
Monty~Anxiously awaiting an update!
melody~How exciting!!!!! And CONGRATS on telling everyone! I wish we got to hear the heartbeat at our 1st appoint, but we did get to see it, so I guess thats good enough:p We get to hear at our next! I cant WAIT!!!!!!!
LILRTL~I have those pains too...ugh. Good to know they are normal, hey:rolleyes: LOL!

So I got info on prenatal classes at my 1st appointment and I just registered today!
Part 1 is for the 1st trimester, or under 20 weeks. Our first class is on Oct 30 and the second on Nov 20. The classes go over: Changes during pregnancy, Fetal Development, Tests Performed during pregnancy, Infant Safety, Lifestyle Influences, Exercise, Warning signs, Fathers portion, Relaxation, and Nutrition. Should be fun! Or at least informative!
The 2nd part is in the 3rd trimester. So I have classes every Wed from Feb 21-Mar 28. They go over things like:Labour and Delivery/Post Partum, Normal Labour and Delivery, Different kinds of Labour and Delivery, The Newborn, The Postpartum Period, Breastfeeding, and a hospital Tour.
There are 6 classes, and each class goes over quite a few topics! (Like for newborn the topics are: Circumcision, jaundice, newborn screening~Bathing your baby~Dealing with diaper rash~Protecting your baby from harm~Bottle feeding yuor baby~Extra vitamins and minerals~Why is the baby crying~What is colic~Protect baby's teeth now~Infant care~Car seat safety~)
I am SO EXCITED! All these classes are costing me $75 total, so not to bad I think at all!
Anyways, just wanted to share! Hope everyone is having a great day!!!!

Yeah! I'm finally here!
Today was a b*&^ for me! I woke up with a migraine. Then, to make matters worse, completely forgot my tylenol. When the assisstant principal had to bring some to me, I took it and then felt like it was just going to come right back up. AhhhH! I felt that way for hours! I finally got to eat lunch and felt a little better, but I still have a slight headache and nauseous feeling. So...today I felt what it was like to have m/s, with a head explosion attached!
Then the librarian at my school said she had migraines when she had boys. :rolleyes: Interesting...hmmm.
I tried to put on a pair of pants this morning that I just wore on Sunday, and I couldn't even zipper them. I've added an inch to my already "a little oversize" waist and am now measuring at 41-1/2 in. (It was 40 in on Sept 26 and probably about 38 before that.) Which is funny because I normally wear my pants at my hips with 34 in waistbands. (However, my stomach has always stuck out above my "waist".):) :)
I had another nightmare last night. This time my husband woke me up because I was crying. I hope they stop and the sex dreams start soon.:D
suzfuzsunflower
10-19-2006, 03:22 PM
foxyboo - My pants are tight as well, which is why I have been in maternity pants full time for the past 2 weeks. :rolleyes:
I hope that everyone is having a good day. We still have 4 weeks until our next appointment! The wait is killing me! What are you all doing to pass the time between appointments?

10-19-2006, 07:27 PM
Talk about bloating - I looked at myself when I got home from work and I looked like I was about 5 months along! Holy smokes! :rolleyes: At least I can start the day looking normal! :) foxyboo751 - I'm with you - I've only got a couple of pants left and they are disappearing fast!
LILRTL - round ligament pains - where were yours? I'm starting to notice a sharp pain when I twist (like turning around when backing the car out of the gargage) and I was wondering if that was it. They are lower pelvic and inside my hip bone.
Sunshine - I love seeing your good Canadian spelling! (labour made me smile - I get too many strangle looks like I spell like that in that States!)
QOTD for RO's - Have you broken the news to the big sisters/brothers? If not - when do you think you will? We haven't really told DD yet - she's 2 and I can't even imagine she'll grasp the concept until the baby is home and we can't "send it back".

gf&js~Wanna talk Canadian spelling and words? How 'bout "toque", "cheque", "eavestophe", "buttertart" and "beer league" :p
I have used all of those words in my lj and I get the funniest looks, and questions always come shorty after saying "What's a toque?"....or "I think you spelled check wrong" etc:p Altho I've only used eavestrophe, buttertart and beer league once or twice....I was still questioned on them...
Eh? LMAO!
Anyways........:o
foxyboo751~ugh, sorry about the migrane and m/s at the same time....interesting about the migranes and boys tho...Hmmmmmmm.
And oh boy, just Wait until you have the sex dreams.....Woa! ;)

Yesterday suddenly my 24/7 morning sickness was totally gone when I woke up and did not return. Instead, I had hot flashes just like I had after my missed abortion. I debated the whole morning if I should go to my obgyn or not, especially as DD was home because there was no preschool on that day. Luckily DH left work after lunch to look after DD and in my obgyn office they told me to come ASAP when I told them about the hot flashes.
I did not dare to hope it, but surprisingly the baby was fine! :) It had grown from 1.5cm to 2.5cm (an inch) during the last week and it was waving its short arms! This was great, especially because last week it measured two days shorter and now it was three days bigger than expected. My doctor said that it looks perfect so far and that it does not look as if anything was to happen to it anytime soon. :)
I was a bit ashamed that I came in for a false alarm and feared that they think of me as hysterical. But they were all so happy for me when I sat there teary-eyed with relief. The doctor even told me that it was totally fine if I came in for an ultrasound every week during the first trimester and that I should come whenever I was worried, even if it was tomorrow. That was so nice. The strange thing is that both morning sickness and the sore boobs kicked in again in the evening. Weird.
QOTD for RO's - Have you broken the news to the big sisters/brothers? If not - when do you think you will? I havenīt and I wonīt until November or maybe christmas. DD is 3.5yo and does suspect something though as she seems to have very fine antennae for that. While we were on vacation, she asked me why my belly was so big. I blushed and said "Oh you know, my belly is always that big." And she rolled her eyes as if I was totally dumb and said with an unnerved tone: "No mommy, I was asking you the baby question!" :D
Last time when I was pregnant, she found out very early as well. Which made it especially hard when I had the m/c. Itīs natural that DD had a hard time to understand that but that made it even harder for me. She said some pretty hurtful things like "Look, two boys and none of them died in their motherīs belly" or "Why do you want another baby? It will die again in your belly anyway." So Iīm waiting this time until the second trimester. Half a year is still a long time to wait for a child but since we plan to tell everyone in mid November, I donīt want DD to find out from somebody else.
I wanted to scan both ultrasound pictures from 8w1d and 9w1d but somehow I canīt get the scanner to work. I will ask DH tonight whatīs wrong with it. But Iīm brave enough to post a 9w belly shot. Anonymous, but still brave. :p

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm 12 WEEKS TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*Doing a happy dance*
heeeeeeeeee:D
I was looking at this thread on lj, and they were talking about just when the 2nd trimester starts. I have been going by the 13th week......well, this lady who teaches prenatal, and also posted a website, said that 12weeks is the LAST DAY of the 1st trimester....:confused: And that 12w1d is the first day of the 2nd trimester...........
Kind of weird, but if I go by that:p Tomorrow I am in the 2nd trimester!
Here is the site she mentioned as well.
http://www.intmed.mcw.edu/clincalc/pregnancy.html
It says today is the last day of my 1st trimester........Weird, huh?
I know that everyone goes by different dates. I have books that say 12, 13 AND 14 weeks, but whatever! LOL!
Too bad my due date still isnt the 3rd, I'd be 12w1d today!
gf&js~You know what? I think I asked you that before! LOL! When we went to the States I found it crazy to see the differences is certain products......I know alot is the same, but alot isnt! I remember talking about eating Rockets. And I meant the candy rocket, not Smarties. Which I guess Smarties, the chocolate candy, are called! So strange!
Bella~You look GREAT!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy the morning sickness is gone for you too. You must have been scared to have the hot flashes, but SO GREAT you got to see your baby and everything was going better than well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAY!

Sunshine: congrats on 12w today! Its such a milestone and feels sooooo good to get there.
FWIW, I too, think of the start of Tri 2, at 13w. :)
LILRTL: I can identify w/you on all counts! Ligament pains, running after a todder=no *me* time, and missing the "excitement" of the 1st time around.
But, I'm beginning to get excited again with this one. Just took a bit longer! :D
Bella: wow. You look great!! My DD is just 2yrs (next month), so she doesnt really understand when mommy says "we are going to have another baby!"
She hears baby..and runs to get her dolly. LOL
Oh, and Sunshine, we actually did the Integrated Screen (to look for markers for Trisomy 18, Downs etc) which included both a bloodscreen and an ultrasound.
IF either test came back "positive", then we would have considered either CVS or an Amnio, but I was NOT looking forward to that.
Thankfully, both tests were returned as NEGATIVE, so we can breathe easily.
Last time we tested positive, an declined the amnio, so we had a rough pg with worry..although the positive side was that we had a LOT of ultrasounds which was kinda cool!
Yeah. I broke out the maternity clothes this week myself too.
My lower belly hasnt changed much, but seems I'm *popping* out higher, right under my breast bones, so I look rather funny. UGH.

I don't have much time, just wanted to say--
foxyboo I hope your dreams get better!! Some of my dreams last time were disturbing (once dreamt I ate a whole can of chocolate covered almonds--including the CAN!--and that the baby was stuck in the can in my stomach:rolleyes: ), but really, most were good sex dreams.
bellabonga You look beautiful!
I don't feel sick today. I hope the nausea is ending this week...

Sunshine, congratulations for reaching the magical 12 weeks! :) I have heard 12, 13 and 14 weeks as the start of the second trimester and am never sure which one is correct. I would probably see 13 weeks as the correct date but whatever. You think I look great? Wasnīt big the right word? :p
CMW02, that is too cute with your daughter! :D Mine just tried breastfeeding with her doll and me as my friend just had a preemie this week and we visited them in the hospital. DDīs doll first drank milk from my boob and then she ate some bread out of it. ;)
Chicksinger, I donīt feel beautiful at all at the moment because I hate this stage where everyone wonders "is she pregnant or just fat?". Right now I have a bit of a hard time hiding the belly because we want to wait another three weeks before we tell anyone.
The nausea came back yesterday night and has been here all day but Iīm okay with that. Better than being scared. I have to eat at least every two hours or I get so nauseated that I have a hard time to eat anything at all. If I go too long without food, chocolate is the only thing I can eat. So I had lots of chocolate lately. :o I even have a hard time drinking enough because I donīt like anything at the moment. So Iīm mostly mixing water and acid-reduced juices.
Hope everyone is feeling okay and youīll have a great weekend! :)

bellabonga ~ You barely have a pooch! I only wish I was that small! I already had a minor pooch due to some extra weight, so...now I look like I should be 4-5 months or something. I'm almost 6 feet tall, so it probably just seems a lot bigger to me, but EVERYONE knows now.
It doesn't help either that DH is being such a jerk! I don't know what's going on with him but last night he told me I needed to start exercising to try to lose some weight before I put on too much. He also said that only "FAT" people gain weight everywhere and skinny people only gain weight in their stomach. :eek: I couldn't believe he said that! He really had me on an emotional roller coaster yesterday. Uggghhhh! No wonder I'm having nightmare dreams!:mad: :mad: :mad:
I feel great though, and I don't think I'm that large. Neither does anyone else I know. He's just got something going on with him lately.
Thanks for letting me vent, I just sometimes feel like I have no one else to talk to! That's why I love CC!!:D

Foxy: I'm sorry to hear about your DH's comments.
FWIW, I think a lot of 1st time dad's go thru a kind of "freak out" stage, although it can manifest itself in many ways. (ie, being distant, mean, rude comments, lack of desire, etc)
With my last pg, DH totally distanced himself from me/the pg, and it wasnt until baby was actually born, did he turn into his usual super loving caring guy again. Oh, and the totally ironic part was MY-um- how to say- "desires" were upped, and he wouldnt touch me with a 10foot pole!
It freaked him out to think about it..even though he never admitted to that. :p
Turned out that he was a nervous wreck about becomming a father and all the looming added responsibility. And the SF lacking, was him being freaked about being intimate...um, when the little one was in there. LOL :D
THIS time however, I'm making sure we keep active.
Anyone else's hubbys freaking out in any way, or *not wanting* to DTD since you've become PG? Just curious. ;)
hang in there Foxy and try not to let his comments get you down.

CMW02 We haven't DTD since this baby was concieved. We are a very intimate couple so we make up for it in other ways though. At about 8 weeks I mentioned something about it and DH said he was nervous and wanted to wait until I was out of the first trimester. We had a m/c in the spring and DTD then so he didn't want to chance anything this time. I am 12 weeks today so probably the next time the mood hits me... ;) Those sex dreams have been holding me over though.

Foxyboo - I'm sorry about your DH's comments. My DH is going to be a first time father as well, and while he has been supportive of me and cared for me during this time, he is also very distant from the pregnancy. He told me today that he sometimes forgets that we are having a baby :rolleyes: b/c I am the one that is carrying it, I don't look really pregnant, and I'm not feeling incredibly sick all the time. I am hoping that once we get further along he will acknowledge it more, and be more excited (of course he is excited....but I hope he will act more excited). I think it will be more "real" for him once we find out the gender.
I hope that everyone has a great weekend! DH and I are going out to a restaurant (non-smokey one) to watch a football game....and I am just waiting for my next appointment. Less than 4 weeks to go! I hope that my little baby is doing well.
I should have the Fifths Disease test results back on Monday or Tuesday. I really hope that I am immune.

Hey everyone! Glad to hear so many heartbeats out there!
We get out first ultrasound on Monday, and we're hoping that that will help this pregnancy feel a little more real to us both. The first time around, everything was new. We ran out and bought onesies, and thought about nurseries, names, and how to tell everyone. We took all the classes and read as much as possible. This time is different tho. It was only a year ago that we were here so we kinda feel like we just did this. Which...come to think of it, could be a negative thing, cuz we might forget some stuff thinking that we already know everything. So, we're thinking about taking the class again, just to "refresh". Anyway, that's not for a while still. The most important thing is to hear the heartbeat and make sure the baby is okay :)
M/s is okay right now. A little icky in the morning, a little icky at night, but GREAT in the afternoon!
DH and I celebrated our anniversary (10.31 is 4 years!!) last night. We got a babysitter for DD and we went out to dinner and then to a Haunted House! My first time ever and it was SO MUCH FREAKING FUN!!! I highly recommend it to everyone out there! Screaming, holding onto DH...it was great!
As to how DH is acting about the pregnancy...he's pretty normal. It's harder for guys tho, cuz they don't change at all really. They just have to watch us change and, tho I think they're glad it's us and not them that has to go through all this, I still think there is a tiny bit of jealousy in there, that we get to be so close to the baby. I guess we just have to try and help them feel included as to what we're feeling, and how the baby is growing, and of course, when the baby starts kicking, helping them to feel that too. And they probably feel a lot of pressure too. Responsibility of taking care of a family now, and trying to be a good role model. I just think it might be tough for them too. Just remember that they love us, and tho they might be insensitive sometimes, they do love the baby and are excited.
Wow, I wrote a ton! Have a great weekend girls! Will write on Monday after the ultrasound! So excited (and a lot scared too....) :)

Yay, I'm in double digits now! :D
DH's reaction:
I think DH is reacting differently this time around, but he thinks I'm just being sensitive. :rolleyes:
I don't blame him if he's nervous though, b/c I had really bad PPD with DS and don't wish that on anyone, or their DH!
Telling big bro:
We've been planning to wait a while to tell DS, but he has really been into babies lately when we see one somewhere so I have asked him a couple times if he wants one at his house. Luckily he has said yes. ;) Then today, out of the blue he told me he wants a baby at his house, so I decided to tell him that we'd be getting one in the spring time (thought I doubt he understood what that was) but that it had to grow in mommy's belly for a while first. To that he exclaimed "I don't want a baby in my belly!" LOL, 2 yr olds are a crack up.
I don't plan to say anything more about it or really try to explain it until I am really showing or he can feel the baby kick, but I think I'll keep telling him the same thing I told him today if he brings it up again.
Dreams:
Add me to the bad dream club and the sex dream club! I guess at least they are balancing each other out, LOL!
Forgot to mention last time that I have my next appt on Nov. 8 when I'll be around 12 wks and should be able to hear the h/b! :D
Also, just in case I am confused...giry76 IS also on the green team. You WANT to be on the green team, right?Yeah, I just said that b/c she said they might find out and not tell anyone and didn't know what color team that put her on, and that is what we might do also. :)

CMW02~Thanks for the congrats!!! I really didnt feel like I was ever going to see 12weeks! And thanks for the info about the screening too! We decided we would do the same as you did last time, I cant imagine how much you would worry, but we also decided the amnio just isnt worth it....
Chicksinger~Hope the m/s has stayed away!
bellabonga~THANK YOU! Hitting 12 weeks was amazing! I just didnt feel I would make it that far:D
And YES you look great! Not HUGE! I cant wait until we are all huge tho:D heehee!
And YUM for chocolate! I bought some girl guide cookies on the weekend, BUT they arent the normal girl guide cookies. They are chocolate covered mints! OMG they are good!
foxyboo751~Sorry about what your DH said to you:( I told my DH that in a warning type of way.....he now knows not to say the same thing.....
suzfuzsunflower~Hope you had fun wathing the FB game! And GOOD LUCK with the test results!

HAVE FUN TODAY!
Steve's Sweety~Happy Double Digits!
Hope everyone is well!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am feeling better each day! I am still waiting for results from my blood test, so that is my new worry. I know the baby is fine, so now it is worry about the blood tests.:rolleyes: Does this worrying ever end?
Had a nice weekend. Got to tell some more people about the pregnancy that live out of town! And we had some friends over for supper last night.
Anyhow, hope everyone is well!

I need to get in here today and catch up on all of you, and do replies in my own journal. BUT I thought you would like to see u/s pictures. ;-)
Lil' Shrimp is measuring perfectly. Heartrate was even HIGHER today - 185 bpm. To date, I have gained 1 lb. my entire pregnancy (I started counting the day I found out), so I am extremely pleased with that. By 10 weeks with Zach, I had gained over 10 lbs. Yikes!!

LILRTL What a great picture! I'm so glad you dropped it off!
*sigh* Thursday was just a fluke. I have been sooooo sick, all weekend and today, too. Even had to throw up in the car on the way to a baby shower (someones else's!) on Sunday. (Used a gallon ziplock bag that was in my purse--the things you learn from watching the bulimia show on Oprah! :rolleyes: ) DH brought me tea with ginger and some toast in bed today, and that helped a little to have it before I tried to get up. (I'm so dizzy from not keeping any food down for 3 days.) This is so much worse than my first pregnancy; I have no idea what to expect now.

Hi ladies!
Super cute picture, LILRTL!
I had my first appt and u/s today, so I'll have to scan it and drop it off sometime tonight. Everything looks good, and I've only gained 1.5 lbs. Didn't get to see or hear the heartbeat, but seeing the bouncing and waving baby was enough for me. :)
The baby measured 10w 6d, so my new due date is May 15, 2007 and my next appointment is 11/21. I won't have another u/s until 18 weeks, but if Baby H cooperates, we'll be able to find out the sex then.
Oh yes, sex dreams are abounding, except it's not always with good people. Last night, it was with Hulk Hogan. Yuck.
I've had a tiiiny pooch for a while now, but it's mostly due to bloating and bowel distention. Some days are poochier than others. :)

Hi Ladies,
Sorry I've been MIA.......my follow up dr. appt was not what I had ever thought it would be. Instead of my HCG levels doubling, they drop in half. So with that , and the fact the baby was almost 3 weeks smaller that it should have been, doc told me to prepare for a miscarriage. Ofcourse, not the news I had been wanting to hear, and I fell apart shortly after that (good thing DH went with me). To make a long story short, I miscarried on my birthday (Saturday) and have been in major pain ever since. I did not realize that you can get labor like pains for days during a miscarriage! It's been a sad couple of days around our house, but we are trying to look at the positive aspects, and my husband and I bought a Siberian Husky puppy to help fill the void :) My best to all of you, I'll be back to see all your H & H bundles of joys. Thanks for all the support last week.

Chicksinger - I'm sorry that you're sick. Ugh, throwing up in the car must be horrible! I hope that with the end of the 1st trimester you start to feel better. :)
LILRTL - What a cute ultrasound picture! Thanks for dropping it off! :)
I spoke with the nurse today...and I am immune to Fifth's Disease...one less thing to worry about! I am still having some anxiety related to the pregnancy. I hope that my little baby is OK. Just a little over 3 weeks until my next appointment!
Question for you all: Are you going to get a flu shot? I am conflicted...
LILRTL
10-23-2006, 04:27 PM
Monty I am so, so sorry for your loss.
Flu Shot My doctor told me today that it is "recommended". However, I have never, ever gotten one. And it's not that I'm so confident that I won't get the flu. It's just that I have NO idea what my reaction to the flu shot would be, and I don't really want to find out while pregnant. ;) My doc was okay with this.

Monty: Take care sweetie, so sorry...
Chicksinger: The Dr. told me today that m/s is worse with the 2nd child. Yippee for us, right? Lol
Suzfuz: I got a flu shot last year when I was pregnant, and I read again today that pregnant moms should all get the flu shot, and it's safe to get it in the first trimester. I got mine when I was in the 3rd trimester last time and everything was fine. If they offer them free again this year, I'll be getting it for sure!
Had my ultrasound today! It went great and the office got a new u/s machine that puts everything right on DVD for us, so we could take it home too! It's so weird, but I really didn't think there was going to be a baby there. For some reason I've had a really hard time believing that I'm pregnant again. I was talking about it with DH, and I think it's partly hard to believe because so many people that I know are having a really hard time conceiving. We are just so totally blessed, all of us, to have these little babies. And now that I've seen him/her, it makes it so real and wonderful to me! Now I can start really enjoying it (barring the m/s of course) and have fun telling the rest of the family!
So, stats-wise, I was measuring right on track and my new due date is May 27. My next appointment is November 20.

LILRTL very cute picture of the little one!
FluShot I get one every year since I'm an xray tech in a busy hospital. I had one when I was PG with DS and everything was fine. I plan on getting one if I ever get in contact with my new OB.
So...I recently had to change medical facilities since I moved to a different city. I am sooooooo pissed since I've been trying to get my appointments rescheduled with my new OB for OVER a week! I haven't had any blood tests yet and I'm going on my 13th week soon. I work for this HMO and I can't believe the crap I'm going thru. I miss my old DR and may just see her and take the 45 min drive out to get my appointments met. I'm going nuts!! Hopefully I get a call tomorrow:rolleyes: .....thanks, I needed to vent that one out:o

Monty - I'm so sorry for your loss, you and your DH are in my thoughts.
LILRTL - What a cute picture! I can't wait to see my little one now! :D
Suzfuz - I'm getting a flu shot, I didn't get one last year and got the flu so I figured i'd play it safe this year. My doctor recommended getting one and since they are offering them at work for $5 I figured why not.
In other news, we told our families over the weekend and they were so excited. It feels so good to be able to let people know! I still haven't told people at work except my supervisor but I haven't raised any eyebrows yet anyway so nobody is asking.
I have been feeling really queasy if I get hungry so i've been snacking a lot lately it seems. But so far thats the worst of my m/s, hopefully it doesn't get worse.

flu shot - yep - we are all going on Thursday. I'd rather avoid the flu if I can and if this helps a little - I'm all over it!
I finally broke down and let people know today at work. My management team knew but beyond that - not many. It's kind of funny to see all the different reactions!
Things are plugging along here. We just went to see a different photog to take our 2 yr olds pics (we won a certificate at a silent auction) but I think we are going to pass. He does great work - but wants $95 for an 8x10. Not framed - just for the picture. Nice guy and great work - just not worth it. And we even spent a small fortune on our wedding photog (who I think did better work than this guy) and she doesn't even charge that much for the prints. Why can't a win just a small lottery? ;)

Welcome, daphne! :)
Sunshine, have you already started wearing maternity clothes? I think with my first pregnancy, I was completely in maternity during my 13th week.
My belly is growing like crazy this time and I look huge! Much worse than on the picture of 9w0d. Itīs already getting hard to hide which is why Iīm avoiding to meet my friends and am only leaving the house with a closed jacket. We still want to wait until after the first trimester screening to tell everyone. So thatīs two more weeks. Weīll see if we can wait that long. And too bad that I have only two jeans left that I can close.
Tomorrow I have another ultrasound to confirm that the baby is alive and well. Iīm nauseous 24/7, very tired and my boobs hurt, so I think everything is fine. Still it will be good to see it. Too bad that DH canīt come with me because he will have to watch DD who still does not know about the new baby.

bellabonga You mentioned nausea--are you eating? What are you eating? I just seem to be getting sicker, and I've lost so much weight. I am definitely a little dehydrated, but I just can't keep anything down, or if I do, it only works for one day and the next day that makes me sick, too. Any good tricks?

Welcome daphne!
I just got back from my first ultrasound. I guess it seems super real now. I measured at 9 weeks and my due date is still 5/27. It had a heartrate of 185. I kept thinking how can this little peanut be making me so sick :(
i still am battling extreme M/S. I am on Zofran but it is not doing much. About this time of day 3 to 4 ish, I am done! I am so tired and then the throwing up starts :(((
Chicksinger : Call you doctor and get some anti nausea drugs, they will help you keep down a least a little. If you are super dhydrated you need fluids, Dhydration is a nasty cycle. The more you throw up the more you get dhydrated and the more you get dhyrdated hte more you throw up. I would call your Dr and get a few bags of IV fluids and you will feel better instantly and try the drugs. I took them the entire time with Paige and she is fine.You can't carry on a decent life feeling so bad.

YAY for another u/s tomorrow! Cant wait to hear how much your baby has grown:D
Chicksinger~You know what really helped me? Cheddar and Potato perogies, and popsicles:p LOL! I was eating 3 popsicles a day! For whatever reason they helped calm my belly enough for me to eat!
jessmaine~That is SO GREAT!!!! I'm happy you got to see your little baby!

bellabonga~I broke down and went shopping this weekend because my favorite pair of brown cords that I last Monday wouldn't zip or button on Wed! JC Penny's has a very small maternity section, but they had a major sale this weekend and I was able to pick up a bunch of shirts for $6 each and some pants and capris on sale. The maternity pants/skirts are still a little big and fall down a bit, but I'm sure in a few days, they'll fit just right.
Good news! DH has stopped being such a jerk (for the time being). Apparently, he feels like he's under a lot of pressure to make extra money, he has to be the best man at a wedding in 2 wks, and lots of other stuff. Of course, you know what they say..."when you're mad, you take it out on those you love the most".
Also...I had my first sex dream last night! It was a little wierd, but then...(TMI ALERT) I got some for real for the first time since I found out I was PG! It's been quite a roller-coaster ride this week/end.
Next appt is Monday, Oct 30 instead of Tues cause the Dr. has surgery scheduled for Tues (for another mom). Although, I don't think I'm gonig to get another u/s, so I'm jealous of all of you who are and have been showing DH your 10 wk u/s "Look, this is what our baby looks like right now too!!!"
Alright, off to do some laundry!

Chicksinger, when we were on vacation in Florida (6w-8w) I nearly ate nothing because of the nausea. Even the thought of food made me sick and I had a hard time to get anything down. I think the heat added to that. It got worse because I could not eat so regularly. The past two weeks at home, I have been eating nonstop. :o I found out that I can battle nausea by eating. So I have to eat at least once every hour or every two hours or I get so sick that I canīt eat anything. So Iīm pretty sure Iīve already gained lots of weight in those past two weeks. And I have to weight myself with clothes today in my obgynīs office. :eek: Ginger Ale used to help me a bit with nausea in my previous pregnancies. This time chicken broth and pumpkin soup were okay in my non-eating period.
jessmaine, hope youīll feel better soon!
Sunshine, how about a belly shot? ;)
foxyboo, I know what you mean with too big maternity pants! I bought just one at Burlington Coat Factory because it was quite nice and only $14.98 but the only time I wore it, it became more and more ultra-lowrise... :D So as long as I still have non-maternity pants left, I leave the maternities on the attic.
I havenīt reached the sex dream phase yet but I dreamt every night recently. More the action-filled type of dreams but still unusual for me. Usually Iīm too tired to dream. But it probably has something to do with the fact that I now go to bed two hours earlier than usual and so stay in bed long enough to reach the dream stage of sleep.

bellabonga~I'm 13 weeks tomorrow so I'll have DH take a pic with the shirt down for me to share:) Altho it will be a headless shot like yours;) I'm not ready for that yet! LOL! I actually had to take my wedding set and promise ring off this morning my fingers have gotten so swollen:confused: I dont get it..........I'm only 13 weeks?!?!?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So I cant wear my wedding set or promise ring anymore, and I am TOTALLY PISSED about that........*sob* My fingers have started to swell, and I was so shocked about that!
DH was starting to worry about the baby yesterday as he was talking to a co-workers yesterday who had bad post-partum depression and also had a m/c at 4 months. SO he rubs my belly and says to the baby "I hope you are okay....." LOL!
He talks to the baby all the time. I woke up in the middle of a nap on the couch the other day and I seem to talk in my sleep. I asked him a question While sleeping, and so he rubs mylegs and tells me softly that its okay, I am sleeping....I got all mad at him b/c he wouldnt answer my question, instead he tells me I am sleeping. WTF! So he starts laughing at me and asks me what I wanted. And I honestly couldnt remember. So he says to the baby "Your mother is grumpy"
LOL!
Anyways.....hope everyone is well!
Okay, so I need a body pillow or one of those pregnancy pillows. I am having troubles sleeping without a pillow between my legs, altho the pillow I am using isnt working all that well:p
What is that pregnancy pillow called? I am going to search around for one online, but I dont know what to search for:p
Hi Girls!
I must be the opposite because I'm not getting any, and it's all me. My sex drive is just kaput. I think part of it is due to the fact that DH is being a jerk, as well - but even that is probably due to the fact that my mood swings are totally wacky. I have mild depression anyway, so the massive boost of hormones isn't really helping. :rolleyes:
I'm 11 weeks today and feeling great physically. Pants are definitely getting tighter, and although I did buy a couple pairs of maternity slacks from Old Navy for work, I'm not quite big enough for those, yet. I'm at that "fun" in-between stage.
Sunshine: I've noticed a difference in my rings, too. The cooler weather down here has helped, but they're still a PITA to get on and off. Luckily, I'm still able to go to sleep on my stomach, but I have noticed that I wake up on either side, so I guess my body's rolling me over while I'm sleeping. Are you talking about a Snoogle (http://www.amazon.com/Leachco-Inc-Snoogle-Original/dp/B0000635WI)? They have a bunch of different kinds of maternity pillows on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/s.html/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_k2k_2/002-5213792-5422408?ie=UTF8&keywords=maternity%20pillow&index=blended). Do you have a Bed, Bath and Beyond up there? I think even stores like Sears or Macy's also carry them?
Sunshine
KeliAnn~Thats EXACTLY what I was looking for:D Thanks!
We do have a Sears here, we dont have a BB&B here tho. (I believe theyhave them in Canada, we just dont have one here....)
jessmaine, Sunshine, & bellabonga Thanks for your replies! I went to the doctor this morning, and I am now on Zofran. I don't know if I'll need it for long, but when the midwife saw that I had lost 6 pounds this week, she said, "You need to keep food and fluids down through the weekend." I go back Monday morning to reassess.
Hi to all posters whom I've missed during the last week! I'm hoping that I'll be more on the ball soon!
Uaaah, I know that I posted yesterday evening here but it seems that my post got lost in cyberspace. I hate that.
Sunshine, buying a body pillow is a good idea. I got one in my first pregnancy and later on I donīt know how I should have slept without one. Iīm already using it again because it is so comfy. :D I have a simple one like that but mine only cost something like $19:
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000BC607E.01-A1KJ6G0CPZVH3N._AA280_SCLZZZZZZZ_V39727402_.jpg
I hear you on the weight gain! Iīm 5`10 and still weighted 127lbs some years ago which was great. I weighted 149lbs when I first got pregnant and havenīt been able to lose weight since then. So 149lbs is what I started with this time again.
Unfortunately there seems to be something wrong with your link. The picture doesnīt show up and if you copy it, the page is not found.
Have you talked to a doctor about your rings not fitting anymore? It is much too early for that, so I would ring and tell them.
chicksinger, I hope your meds will do the trick. :)
So I had my appointment yesterday. I finally got my maternity passport. This is a document we have in Germany, where all your pregnancy information is written down. You have to carry it with you all the time during your whole pregnancy. If you happen to have an accident or if you need to go to the ER because of your pregnancy, they have all relevant information they need. Usually you get it earlier but I had forgotten to bring my old one with me last time, so I just got it yesterday. Feels good, because somehow this makes my pregnancy more "official". :D
The ultrasound showed that the baby had grown a lot during the past week. It was 2.5cm last week and was 3.7cm this week. Thatīs nearly 1.5 inches. According to his computer the baby measured 11w0d but he did not change my EDD. He said that so far everything looks perfect with the baby. I got a cute picture where it seems that it is sucking its thumb. Somehow I always get thumb-sucking ultrasound pictures. This is probably my 4th or something like that. :D
We then talked about my next appointment on November 10th. This will be when the first trimester screening takes place. They will measure the nuchal fold, see if they can find a nose bone and examine papp-A and beta-hcg in my blood. This combined with my age will lead to a risk calculation like 1:500. What I did not know was that even in this calculation they will have the factor that I was pregnant with a baby with trisomy 21. Good that I asked. With Maya I had a calculated risk of 1:6600. I thought that was great at that time although I now know that if you are much younger, you can reach figures like 1:128000. Now without the first trimester screening, my calculated risk is 1:120. And yesterday I found out that I canīt hope for a result like 1:6600 anymore because the trisomy 21 pregnancy makes that impossible. The best I could hope for would be something like 1:1000. Which would still be great, compared to 1:120. I asked him from which result on I should have an amnio and he thinks that if itīs even lower than 1:120, then I should. I would consider an amnio if itīs worse than 1:300 but he reminded me of the of the fact that 1:100 babies does not survive the amnio. Tough decision. I so hope it will be 1:300 or better. But at least the doctor said that so far the nuchal fold looks inconspicuous and that he had already seen a nose bone. And that the baby measured 6 days ahead might also be a good sign because babies with trisomy 21 often measure smaller than they should. So Iīm quite happy with the way the appointment went although the doctor made some mistakes when filling out my maternity passport. Now itīs 2WW again until the next appointment...
Steveīs Sweetie, I am so sorry for your loss. :( Joining the support thread in the Family Planning section helped me a lot with my missed abortion in May. There is also a community at www.pregnancyloss.info/phpbb2/ that is very helpful. Apart from support it offers lots of information which might be helpful in your situation. I know it takes a lot of time to start healing, so I wish you all the best for that journey. Take care!
Sunshine, congrats on being in trimester two! That is a milestone! This time your picture shows up and I have to say, yup, you really look pregnant! :D And your butt isnīt nearly as big as you announced. ;)
I hear you on thinking $50 for a pillow is too much. I too wouldnīt want to spend that much, especially as you have to buy maternity clothes you only need a few months and after that have to replace all that baby clothes and stuff every couple of months.
Cute belly, Sunshine! I think you look fantastic! I agree that a body pillow should work just fine - it seems to be virtually the same thing.
I have one very similar to this that I got at Bed Bath and Beyond forever ago for about $20.
I haven't found that I needed one, yet, but I'll try that one before I buy a more $$ one. BB&B also has this maternity pillow (http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=13298890&RN=35) for $20. It's by Sealy, so I'm sure it's high quality. Happy Monday!
I think (and I'm scared to admit this outloud) but I've finally gotten the 2nd trimester energy boost. I hardly needed to take any naps this weekend - don't worry - I still snuck one in there! :p
We have a sick little munchkin at our house - nasty cough and fever. Poor little pumpkin - we've got to get her better for trick or treating tomorrow!
Anyone dressing up (I think someone asked that already but I don't remember anyone's response)? We are going to a little party tomorrow and DH is wearing a apron that says "Bun Maker" and I'm wearing one that says "Bun in the Oven". My office goes completely nuts at Halloween so it will be mostly a wasted day at work. But it's always fun to see what everyone decorates with and wears. And we have all kinds of kids come in to trick or treat - we have a Crisis Nursery that comes in the morning and then in the afternoon - employees bring their kids in. It's a pretty fun day - tiring - but fun.
QOTD - mostly for those in the northern neck of the woods - are you buying a winter coat? I hate to buy specifically a maternity one to wear for one stinkin' season but I can hard button up one of my coats now. What are you going to do?
Amy_6405
10-30-2006, 11:21 AM
QOTD- I probably won't buy a new winter coat. but, I might end up having to get one if I can't zip the one I have now as the winter progresses.
LILRTL
10-30-2006, 11:32 AM
QOTD My mother actually just bought me a really heavy wrap... let me see if I can find a pic. It looks mega-warm! I'm not quite sure it could handle a New England winter if you're outside a lot, though.
ok... I can't find a picture on line. I'll have hubby take a picture of me in it tonight. It isn't maternity, but it will definitely work!
Well, i am at home sick...
I'm sorry to hear that you're sick today. Hope you feel better soon!!
gf&js: Hope your munchkin feels better soon!!
I wish I could dress up this year, but no one's having a party, and our office doesn't allow it. DH and I usually throw a small Halloween party, but things have been pretty busy for us lately, and I didn't have the energy to do it. I was going to go as either a beer keg or a box of wine if I had done it. :p
QOTD: Probably not. I live in South Carolina, so it doesn't get terribly cold down here. My car stays in the garage overnight, so I don't even wear one unless I know I'm going to be outside for a long time. I think I'll be fine if I just wear a scarf when I can't button my coat up anymore.
Argh, I am so frustrated, I have missed so much. DH and I went on our delayed honeymoon cruise last week! It was ok, but I don't think I'm much for cruising.
I keep reading about ligament pains or something. What are those?! I totally think that I have them, from what someone was describing (pain in the hip/pelvic area). They are HORRIBLE.
I don't think I am that pleased with my Dr. at this point... I don't feel like I know anything. We waited like 3 hours for our first "appointment" and she didn't tell us ANYTHING except how far along I was.
Well, I am back to catching up.
Hope everyone is doing well!
maniach
10-30-2006, 02:20 PM
OK, I finally caught up, so I feel better posting.
I was actually wondering about the coat thing. I live in FL so I don't really need anything too warm for here, but DH and I are going to Denver for Christmas to visit his family. I will be about 5 months then, so I will probably be showing pretty good... not sure my old coat will still fit. I might just have to get lots of thick sweaters, lol.
I am still fitting in a lot of my pants. I did have to buy some new shorts for my cruise, which in October is no easy feat, even in Florida. I ended up not even wearing some that I had because they were so tight I could barely sit down. I supposedly am showing more than I was, but I just feel chunky. Especially in my vacation photos. I know there's an excuse, but I have been trying so hard for three years to keep in shape and now I feel like I'm falling off the bandwagon. Plus I was so sick in the first few weeks of the first trimester I'm sure I gained some extraneous weight, not to mention the lack of energy for going to the gym. And now I can't lose any weight for the rest of the pregnancy. I'm just hoping to stay within the 25 lb - 35 lb limit. Plus, I'm actually afraid to lift weights at the gym because I don't know what "heavy" is... my Dr. said not to lift more than 15 lb (although "What to Expect..." says 25 lb), but I was doing bicep curls with 15 lb in each hand (and that was light for me -- that was after I found out I was pregnant), so is that 30 lb and I shouldn't lift it, or is that 15 lb, and it's ok? I'm such a dork, right?!
I know there's already been a question today, but here's another: How often have you been going to the OB/how often are they scheduling you to go? I am going to be almost 15 weeks when I go for my second appointment and I see that some of ya'll are several appointments on and not as far along as I am. Plus, Sunshine is starting prenatal classes and no one has even mentioned anything like that to me! I feel left behind :confused:
I was sorry to hear of the two losses since I have been gone. My best wishes go out to both of you and your families. Please know that we are all thinking of you.
See you all soon!
Sunshine
10-30-2006, 03:03 PM
QOTD - are you buying a winter coat? Well, It gets pretty cold here, so yes, I will be buying a new winter jacket. DH just asked me about that yesterday actually! I will be waiting until December tho as I have a bigger coat now I can wear, but it wont last long...
KeliAnn~Thank you! I've been resting most of the day but my head is just killing me....I think I may call Dh and ask him to bring me home some Tylenol:(
maniach~I'm sorry you arent too happy with your doc. I know the ladies who go to the maternity clinic here have the same feelings. I am so happy I was referred to a high risk doctor.
QOTD~How often have you been going to the OB/how often are they scheduling you to go? Well, my 1st appointment was at 11w and my 2nd at 15weeks.......From my understanding, doc appointments are scheduled every 4 weeks for now. So it sounds about right for you!
I definately felt left behind while waiting for my 1st doc appointment. I was way further along than most of the ladies who were already going on there 2nd appoints and I still hadnt had my first. It all depends on the doctor.
The prenatal classes are 2 intro classes that explain about nutrition. Maybe b/c I live in Canada they are offered here? I DO have to pay $75 for the classes. There are 2 in the beginning. (1 in Oct and 1 in Nov) and then the rest are in the last trimester like normal prenatal classes.
If there is something available to you the doctor will mention it, otherwise it wont be mentioned. Maybe call your doctor and ask if there are early prenatal classes or just the classes in the last trimester. Or if you have a health clinic, phone them!
GOOD LUCK!
Shoot, lost my post. Okay, really quickly:
Follow-up appt this morning--meds are working on the m/s. Have to force myself to eat (nothing sounds good), but it's all staying down. Found out I lost 20 pounds in all, but gained 2 back over the weekend in fluids, so I didn't need an IV.
Midwife was concerned that I was scheduled with the wrong OB. (I had requested one, Dr. P____, but was told her schedule was full and was given the other, Dr. D___. Midwife said, "Didn't you request a VBAC? Dr. D___ doesn't do those. Let's reschedule you with Dr. P_____. You should only see her now." (Yay!) Front desk gave us both some lip on that (they didn't see the point), but Midwife insisted that the change be made today. I love this woman! She also said that she can get me #'s for 2 good doulas by next appt., as DH wants us to have a doula to help ask for the right care in the hospital.
Appt. change: Nov. 20 CANCELLED (was with other doctor). New next appt: Nov. 29. Also, b'day was on Sunday--age is now 37. :eek:
Appointments 4 weeks apart until 8 mos, then 2 will be 2 weeks apart, then every week for the last month. Diagnostic and Level II U/S and AFP testing with fetal specialists are extra.
Halloween I am not dressing up, just taking Zach out to 4 or 5 houses after dinner.
Coat My warm coats fit well again since I lost so much weight this month. I think our short CA winter will be over before I am out of options. I have a mid-thigh spring-weight "trench" that I got last pregnancy that will see me from Feb-April. I do love that gorgeous sketch that melody posted!
Sunshine, I hope youīll feel better soon! :)
maniach, I would think that 15lbs in each hand still count as 30lbs. But I still have to carry my daughter from time to time and she weights 45lbs.
suzfuzsunflower, congratulations for seeing the baby! :)
chicksinger, you lost 20lbs?! :eek: Thatīs insane! But at least you wonīt have to worry about gaining too much and having to lose it afterwards... Hope youīll start to feel really better soon. And happy belated birthday! :)
QOTD #1: My first daughter was due in February, so I`ve dealt with that issue before. It gets really cold here in winter and sometimes even snows, so you have to have a jacket or a coat here. I just bought a regular jacket (kind of dufflecoat) at H&M but in a size 14 (I am usually a size 8-10). This way the jacket fit until the end of my pregnancy and I easily resold it at Ebay the next winter. Iīll probably do that again this time. Or if my own jackets fit until near the end of winter, maybe Iīll just wear one of DH`s jackets for the last weeks.
QOTD #2: Usually you only have an appointment every 4 weeks where I live. I only had more because of my missed m/c in May. This got me so nervous that I had weekly appointments until now and now Iīm already freaking because I donīt have one this week.
Me: Nothing really new. My symptoms have been gone since Saturday which freaks me out a little bit. But I donīt feel comfortable to go to my doctor again and ask for another ultrasound, so I just have to believe that everything is okay. Apart from that I have a bad cold which is mostly a stuffed nose and a really bad cough. And I have a stiff neck which is driving me insane. So I donīt feel too hot and think I will crawl back into bed and get some more sleep while DD is at preschool. ;)
Wow chicksinger! 20 pounds! I hope that you start to feel better now that you're on the meds.
I am up 3 pounds total so far, but my stomach looks so much larger. I have been taking belly shots weekly since 5 weeks....maybe if I get brave I'll post it.
QOTD: I have appointments every 4 weeks until I hit 28 weeks - then it's every 2 weeks until 36 weeks - and then every week until delivery. However at 10 weeks I have had....let's see....3 ultrasounds, 6 betas, and one other appointment. :eek: And that's not normal for my doctor's office....it's just b/c of infertility and the cramping that I've had.
suzfuzsunflower~Sorry for the scare, but I am so happy you got to see the baby and everything is going great!:D
And HAPPY 10 WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
melody~GREAT idea for the coat! And I LOVE that blue shirt you posted!
Chicksinger~WOW that you have lost 20 lbs! That is great that the meds are at least helping you keep everything down!
And that is GREAT about your midwife helping you like that!
bellabonga~Thank you! I feel a bit better,but not 100% yet:( I had to miss my prenatal class last night.....That is too bad you arent feeling well either. I keep reading that alot of pregnant women suffer from stuffy nose, which drives me nuts. That is the worst part of a cold to me. I just feel like I cant breathe:(
I hope you feel better soon!
~~~
I had to miss the 1st class of my prenatal classes last night. I was so upset. But the lady said if I had to miss any class, this would be the class to miss.....so it helped, but didnt make me feel 100% about missing it....
HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone! It is pretty chilly here today. I wish it was warmer for the kids. I had a dream last night that I ran out of candy for the kids, so I hope that doesnt happen! LOL!
Hope everyone has a great day today!
Hi all.
I've been following along.
I've been having trouble sleeping through the nihgt, not just due to potty trips. So I'm doubly tired. I work for 9-10 hours a day and it's just knocking me out.
I don't know how repeat offenders do it! Kudos to you girls.
I am still fitting into my regular clothes, though they are getting more snug. I broke down today and ordered some stuff from Old Navy. I'm a little concerned because I'm sure everything will be way big for now. I'm just tired of wearing my old clothes though, haven't bought anything new for this season due to my "growth potential" :p
I really hope I look cute by Thanksgiving in maternity clothes - not big, just cute so that when I see family and friends it will be fun and I'll feel good.
DR appts - I go every 4 weeks. I'm getting another u/s next week between appts though for nuchal translucency test.
I think I'll tell work before that so it 's not hard to lie and get out of work.

I know there's already been a question today, but here's another: How often have you been going to the OB/how often are they scheduling you to go? I am going to be almost 15 weeks when I go for my second appointment and I see that some of ya'll are several appointments on and not as far along as I am. Plus, Sunshine is starting prenatal classes and no one has even mentioned anything like that to me! I feel left behind :confused:
My first OB appt was at 10w, and now she'll see me once a month until I'm 28 weeks, then every two weeks until I'm 36 weeks, and then once a week until I deliver. Every doctor is different, so if you don't feel comfortable with your doctor, I'd try to find another one. As much as you're going to see your doc over the next 6/7 months, I'd definitely find one that you're happy with.
Re: prenatal classes - I think that's just personal preference. I don't plan on taking any until early next year, and I'll be taking the ones sponsored by the hospital where I'll be delivering. My doctor hasn't given me any information, but I looked up their classes to see what they offered and what I might be interested in.
Follow-up appt this morning--meds are working on the m/s. Have to force myself to eat (nothing sounds good), but it's all staying down. Found out I lost 20 pounds in all, but gained 2 back over the weekend in fluids, so I didn't need an IV.
20 lbs!?! :eek: I'm so glad to hear that the meds are working, and I hope you feel better soon!!
Me: Nothing really new. My symptoms have been gone since Saturday which freaks me out a little bit.
I haven't had any symptoms for the last couple of weeks, so I'm a little nervous, as well. We saw the baby last Monday, so that helped - but it does feel weird to suddenly have no symptoms whatsoever.
melody: Thank goodness for the baby-friendly fashions this year!! I just wore a Maggy London baby-doll dress to a wedding a couple of weekends ago, and it worked for my tiny baby bump (although it didn't help my white pasty skin). I'm hoping it will last me through Christmas parties.

Sunshine, I hope you feel better soon!!! Thanks for all the welcomes. :)
QOTD, I'm sure I will. I'm really sensitive to the cold and it will get quite chilly here in the Northeast, so once the jacket I borrowed from a friend won't zip, I'll have to go find one that will!
QOTD2, I'm a little behind y'all, so I'm just having my first OB appointment next Friday (but I've been seeing my RE weekly till now, so I've already had 3 u/s!). I think I'll be going in once a month till I'm about 24 weeks and then twice a month b/c I have a twin pregnancy.
Happy Halloween everyone!!! :D

I finally had my first official appointment. They didnt do much, just the exam, and lots of blood work. My Dr. wasn't going to even try to hear the heartbeat on her doppler, because she said she usually can't find it until 11-12 weeks. She said that since I am only like 9 1/2 weeks, she probably wouldn't be able to find it, and didn't want to worry me. She decided to go ahead and try, and she was able to find it! She was actually surprised herself! The HB was in the high 160's - low 170's. I was so excited!! I had been having some spotting, with light cramps, so I was glad when she said everything was ok, and I got to hear my baby! So, my next appt. is Nov. 14th, I don't know what they will be doing, but I am glad it isnt that far away!

Hi Ladies, I've been quietly following along but not participating. (obviously!) This past Tuesday I finally had an OB appt and we heard the heartbeat and started to feel like everything was actually going to happen so I'm slowly coming out of the closet.
There isn't too much for to me to say regarding my first 10 or so weeks, I think I'm 10 weeks 4 days. I had some spotting around 7 weeks and was surprised that my OB's office recommended I go get an U/S that day so we have seen the baby but it wasn't very clear what we were looking at because of the size. The hormones have really only affected my brain. :rolleyes: I've had mood swings, crying fits, paranoia and attractive stuff like that so while I haven't always been fun I've been able to eat and have gained a little weight. I've also been really tired so my exercise has dropped off a little. I'm dedicated to my pilates though because I think there will be a lot of benefits. Finally there has been some shortness of breath and one really weird evening where I felt like I was walking on a bouncy surface.
CC Name: Ummserious
Me: Emily, 31
DH: Michael, 31
Married: 7/4/02
TTC: 9/1/06
BFP: 9/20/06
EDD: 5/27/07
Gender Prediction: no idea
Any other children: nope, just our trusty dog Mason
I've got an U/S on November 15th, an OB appt on December 1st, and then another U/S and OB appt on December 28th. I would like to find out if we are having a boy or a girl.

clzj~I have my "pregnancy pocket guide" my doctor gave me, and it has safe meds you can take for various things. For "cough" it says
~Dextromethorphan syrup (Balminil-DM, Benylin-DM) is considered safe
~To help eliminate secretions, drink plenty of water
~If your cough lasts more than 3 days, or if it is a loose cough with greenish secretions, or if you have a fever exceeding 38.3C (100.9F), consult yuor health care professional.
I am not taking any cough meds tho, I am using steam from the shower, and cloths soaked in hot weater and placed over the face and head to help. I am also putting a vapourizer in my bedroom at night to help as well. I just dont feel confident taking meds yet.
For "Sore Throat" it says
~Throat lozenges can be used
~Acetaminophen (Tylenol, Atasol) can also relieve a sore throat
And then for "Nasal COngestion and Cold" it says
~Use a nsal spray solution (Salinex) as a first step
~If it does not work, use a nasal spray decongestant such as xylomethazoline (Otrivin) or oxymethazoline (Dristan long acting) for a maximum of 3 days. Extended use could aggravate your congestion.
~If the congestion persists beyond the period of treatment, consult yuor healthcare professional.
GOOD LUCK!

hi girls---i've been following all your posts, but have had difficulty with shout outs and posts .... my ds just turned 2 on halloween, and i've been so exhausted.
i had my first u/s last week, heard the hb and saw peanut growing right on track...quite a relief. next dr appt is nov 27th. unfortunately, i am already on restricted activity due to pelvic pain (I have endometriosis), and this pregnancy has already been classified as high risk for pre-term labor. we went through this for my son (5 months bedrest), and I am so dissapointed that we may travel down this road once again. it's kinda taken the joy out of pregnancy when your main priority is just to make it to 32 weeks (beg of April for me). that's part of the reason i haven't been posting much....didnt want to bring you all down. :(
glad to hear about all your pregnancies though, i've been following them closely! will continue to post from time to time, but may have to join up with the high risk pregnancies in another month or so....
have a great week!

Aidensmommy~Happy belated 2nd birthday to your son!!!!!
That is so great you got to see yuor baby! Sorry you are on restricted duty tho:( And do not worry about feeling like you are going to bring us down, AT ALL! We care about everything you are going through! Please feel like you can tell us anything. Wishing you the best of luck!

Still sneezing. And it is keeping hubby up at night.......sigh. I dont know what to do about it. All I read about sneezing says to use vapourizers and steam. So I have been doing the steam thing, and will hook up the vapourizer tonight. But other than that, I am at a loss.........
QOTD~Who will be in the delivery room with you?
It will just be DH and I. MIL will be coming down once we phone her and tell her the baby is here. She lives about 8-9 hours away. We would hate for her to be here for her holidays and the baby be 2 weeks late so she doesnt get to see him or her.
Dad will come visit after the baby is born as well.
QOTD#2~How many people will be on your phone list?
I need to sit down and think of this. I dont know if we should just phone my Gramma and have her phone the Aunts and Uncles. Otherwise, we may be on the phone for hours, KWIM?
I was thinking our parents, of course. Close friends, and then Grandparents. They can all spread the word after that!

QOTD -- delivery room -- just me and my hubby! Don't want an audience for that one :o although with my son, my inlaws stopped by for support when i was in labor....i appreciated there concern, but it was so hard to be social when i was in such pain.....they'll probably stop by again this time because we all live so close to the hospital and they will be watching ds.
how many people on phone list -- last time it was just both sets of parents....we let them spread the news from there and they took their job quite seriously. i felt the whole world new within hours of his birth! it was great, because then the phone kept ringing with good wishes.

QOTD 1: Probably just me and DH. Maybe my mom and/or one of my aunts who is an OB nurse. I would like her there because I will probably get an epidural and I want good advice on when and how hard to push so that I hopefully won't tear.
QOTD 2: My mom and dad and his mom and dad. We live a million miles from both of our families, so it's not like anyone's stopping by and I'm sure after mom will inform everyone who needs to know. I'm not much of a phone person, so I probably won't want to chat anyway.
I have my second appointment tomorrow... it's about time! Wonder what they are going to do to me this time!

QOTD~Who will be in the delivery room with you?
For the actual delivery I think it will be just DH and I. I won't mind if parents come to visit while I labor if there is time. They are all 4 hours away.
QOTD#2~How many people will be on your phone list?
We are planning on doing a blog type thing so that people can watch our progress. Our friends did this for the birth of their first. They had tons of people watching all day to see when the baby was born. DH will probably bring his laptop and update as he can. That way all you ladies can "watch" too if you want.
I am assuming that once it is time our parents will head this way, so hopefully they will be here. They will do 99% of the calling but we will probably call a few people.

QOTD~Who will be in the delivery room with you? My mom and a doula. Not sure if DH will want to be in there or not - he's not really into the whole birthing process.

still have M/S!!! I thought it should be going away by now :confused:
I stayed home today because I felt so crappy...
QOTD-delivery room- Since we are going to be a birthing center, we will be moving around the house during labor. They have a living room and kitchen where family can prepare a meal. I hope to labor mostly in the jacuzzi with my husband. I think our parents will all come to cook a nice meal & celebrate once baby comes...
QOTD-phone list-hmmm... I haven't thought about this yet. I guess our parents will call all of the family, maybe we will each call a friend & have them spread the news! I doubt we will want to spend much time on the phone.
another QOTD-what are your reasons for finding out/not finding out the gender?
We are on the fence with this! I lean towards not finding out, but I think DH wants to know so he will feel more "related".
Sunshine
11-02-2006, 02:31 PM
another QOTD-what are your reasons for finding out/not finding out the gender?
Well, we figure that since this is our 1st child we want to wait! DH has always wanted to announce the old fashioned way 'We had a Baby X, and we named him/her X"
Plus, we decided that there are no real "true" surprises anymore. And even tho it would be a suprise still to find out at the u/s, it would be like having to wait until Christmas day to find out what your presents are instead of opening them before Christmas, or telling your spouse exactly what you want, nothing else.
For baby #2 tho we will definately find out the gender:D
ETA: I also wanted to add, that while we are both planning freaks (well, maybe me more than him:p) we both decided that we would rather have a gender neutral room that we would be able to use for both of our babies.....and also, if our "girl" happens to come out a "boy" we wont have a room filled with pink!
KeliAnn
11-02-2006, 02:39 PM
another QOTD-what are your reasons for finding out/not finding out the gender?
DH and I are both too OCD to not have everything planned out before the baby comes - that includes the gender-specific room, clothes, etc. Plus, I would like to mentally "prepare" for whatever we're having. Sounds crazy, I know - but we're both seriously nuts about this kind of stuff. :p
Hope you feel better soon, melody!

QOTD 1 ~I think only DH will be in the room with me. Maybe my mom, but I haven't decided yet. However, I do think I might need her b/c DH has a very queasy stomach and will probably end up on the floor.
QOTD 2 ~I think I will have my MIL and Sister on phone list duty. I have a huuuuugge family and everyone will want to know immediately. I would have my b/f do it, but she's due the 23rd (I'm due the 18th) and we're hoping that I'll be a few days late and she'll be a few days early and we can spend the hospital time together!:) (Dreams...ahhh:rolleyes: )
QOTD 3 ~I want to find out because this is my first. I think after this one, I may wait (I want to have a lot of kids). Also, I know DH is dying to have a boy and he will need to be prepared (he says he's going to by a shotgun for next to the front door if we have a girl.:rolleyes: What a dork!) Our room will most likely be gender nuetral also, because if we have a 2nd "too" soon after, they will have to share a room. I'm also hoping to have the first FL "girl" baby. All of my cousins/family that are around my age and live here have had boys. (Although, my brother & SIL are expecting a girl in Dec. but they live in California.)
_____________________________________________
As for me...I haven't had any bleeding since my scare week 7. I had a dr's appt yesterday and was glad I did b/c I don't have any symptoms (except for random migraines). I was beginning to worry that nothing was still going on. They wouldn't do an u/s, but they foud the HB with the dopplar machine. DH didn't get to hear it last time and was worried when it took the dr a few minutes to find it. But he was amazed! It was so sweet.
There are like 4 dr's in my practice. So far, I've like 2 out of the 3 I've met. I couldn't stand the one yesterday. She was completely un-personal and cold. It was weird. Needless to say, I'll make sure my appts won't be with her again!
Glad everyone is doing well!!

QOTD #1: Only DH will be in the delivery room. I don't want other family in there for that part, and I may not want them there for any labor at all.
QOTD #2: Not planning on having a phone tree. I figure that our parents will share with extended family, and we'll call our friends. :)
QOTD #3: There are many reasons that I want to know: I am a huge planner and want to be able to set up the nursery, buy clothes, etc.; I am so nervous with this pregnancy that I don't think I could handle the suspense - I want to know everything. DH and I have talked about it and it's the best decision for us. And it will still be a surprise. I have no idea what gender the baby is and can't wait to find out!
LILRTL
11-02-2006, 04:27 PM
QOTD #1 With DS, it was just DH and me in the delivery room, and I wouldn't have it any other way! :)
QOTD #2 Ditto a PP. Our parents will be there, so I am sure they will call any siblings that AREN'T there, and it will just trickle down. We will call friends again.
QOTD #3 As a RO, I feel better prepared to answer this question. lol I have a very Type A personality. I like to be in control of what is going on, I'm a planner, and all that good stuff. We did find out with DS. However, one thing I realized - all that stuff I "planned" just wasn't even close to important those first few weeks. We're actually NOT going to find out this time around. We are going to have bedding picked out for either gender, and my mother is going to take care of it while we're in the hospital. She is also planning to paint the nursery for us. DS stayed in our room for the first 3-4 weeks, so the nursery really isn't as big of a deal as I made it out to be last time. And clothes? DS spent his first days in the side-snap t's the hospital gave us, so I'm not worried about pink or blue clothing. Of course, if it's a boy, we're all set! :p
SO. My long-winded response to a no-right-answer question! :)

Hi everyone. Sorry I have been MIA the past month or so, my life has been one huge stressball and I havent had a second to sit down at the computer. My little 9 month old has started to understand the meaning of attitude and gives me plenty of it :) and this pregnancy is alot harder on me too. I'm guessing because I am dealing with one child already!
I just wanted to let you know that I am still here and hope to be able to catch up with you all very soon.
Hope you are all feeling well.

Welcome, ummmserious! :)
QOTD #1: Last time only DH went with me to the operating room and this time weīll do it the same way. I havenīt decided yet whether I will have another c-section or attempt a VBAC. Last time DH wasnīt that much help, so I had thought about taking someone else with me to pursue my interests. I had a really bad panic attack last time and felt all the stitches while they sewed me together but no one gave me a sedative although I asked for one. :mad: I was too weak to insist on it and I was pretty pissed at DH afterwards that he did not talk to them. But I guess this time Iīm prepared and I will give DH some instructions before we start the c-section or VBAC. There is really no one else I feel comfortable taking with me.
QOTD #2: If itīs again a scheduled c-section, then everyone knows it anyway when the baby will be born. If itīs not, DH will call the close family and I will call our friends as soon as I feel up to it.
QOTD #3: I just want to be mentally prepared. With my last two pregnancies I really wanted a girl and it would have helped me to know it early if it had been a boy to get used to the thought. This time I donīt care that much as long as itīs healthy. But still it would help to know if I could use most of DDīs clothes or if I have to buy an entirely new wardrobe for the baby and have to sell DDīs clothes on Ebay. And for me, knowing the sex makes it somehow more realistic and indeed, I feel more related. I think there is still enough surprise left, even if I know the gender.

Thanks for the welcome!
QOTD #1 We haven't discussed it formally yet. I'm pretty close with my mom and I always thought I'd want to give her the option of being there but I'm not sure I'll want to worry about anyone being there. I'm actually terrified about the whole process and had considered looking into the idea of a doula but I need to explore the idea with my husband first. He's usually very good under pressure, he doesn't get weird around medical stuff and is also pretty fast to go try and get something I want in a situation like this but obviously he's a total novice.
QOTD #2 Again, haven't completely discussed this yet but I'm not worried about it. My SIL lives nearby and I'm sure both sets of parents will make their way into town when they find out and I'll let them figure it out. I probably just need an easy way to notify the friends who will want to come visit.
QOTD #3 If I can know something early, then there is no way I'll be able to wait a few more months to find out. It's as simple as that.
Does anyone know if it is safe to take anti-depressents while pg. The reason I am asking is if I don't let the small stuff go I will not have a husband. I don't want to lose my husband. I love him to death and he does not feel like I really do any more. Today he suggusted that we start seeing other people. This is not what I want. I want to stay with him. I just need to relax. I think I am going to call my dr and try and get into talk with them. I have my checkup next week but I don't know if I can wait that long.
Q1: As of right now it will be my husband
Q2: The hospital that we will be at does not allow cell phones. My dh will let everyone know after it happens. More than likely my mom will be down so that my little boy can come and see me right away.
Q3: With the 2 previous pg's I did not find out. We the the suprise. With the one we lost I do not know what it was. Depending on what this one is will probably determine if I open up the info from the loss.

14 weeks, I'm 14 weeks! Wooot! :D
cgriffin~GREAT to hear from you!
clzj~Wow....I'm not sure what exactly I want to say.....I'm not sure what to say......can your husband come to the doctor with you as well, so that when you explain to the doctor what is going on, if he has some suggestions for him, he can be there to hear it from the doctor?
I'm so sorry that your husband said that to you tho.....
HUGE HUGS.
Let us know how things go. Thinking of you.

Q1: Just me and DH
Q2: DH will probably call his parents, my parents and both of our siblings. The rest of our families we'll have our parents do the calling.
Q3: We are not finding out the sex. We want it to be a suprise, as far as the nursery goes my favorite color is green so thats what the nursery will be anyway :)
That thread title Trimester Two has been teasing me for weeks. I just realized today though that in two weeks I'll finally be in 2nd trimester! yay!
Not much going on with me, I just today started getting scared - how do I know everything's going ok in there? I keep thinking of what happened to stevesweetie...
Yesterday was a better day for me and I actually slept well last night. I do have a horrible taste in my mouth the past 3 days. :mad: Not metallic. Just tastes like I accidentally licked my makeup or moisturizer. If that were the case though it would go away in 20 mins! This just lingers all day and I've been very careful not to lick anyhting! :rolleyes: haha!
I am going to go out for lunch soon for Mexican with my coworker, who keeps saying she thinks I'm pg - just because. You know how people just sometimes radnomly ask? Anyway, she happens to be right but I'm not telling!
QOTD 1: Just me and DH!
QOTD 2: Phone list for our friends, parents will take care of the rest. Oh, and top of our list will be the mohel if it's a boy to plan the bris (Jewish circumsion for baby boy).
QOTD3: not sure. I guess we are leaning towards finding out now just so we can get used to the idea and it will make the anticipation of baby more real too. Right now it just seems crazy.
CLZJ - I'm really sorry you're going through this. I like the idea fo going to the dr. together. good luck.

I had my Dr. appointment today and I got to hear the heartbeat. I generally don't stress about that stuff, I figure that I still have symptoms so I must be, but I was nervous when she put that little dealie on there and started moving it around because she didn't hear it at first. What a relief it was when she found it. PHEW!
QOTD 3 (since I answered the other 2): Mostly for decorating and buying purposes. I just want everything to be set up nicely so I don't have to worry about it after. Colors will still probably be gender neutral, but it affects my furniture choice and stuff. I want to get a convertible crib and a dresser and a changing table with a hutch so that the baby will be able to use it forever, not just 2 years. I was thinking of white for a girl and black for a boy. I don't think the white would work for a boy, but the black might be ok for a girl.
clzjd - I think some anti-depressants are ok while pregnant, but they are likely rated C, so there aren't good studies. You should really talk to your Dr. about it. Also, are you sure that it's depression and not mood swings? Your hormones are so high right now that it's like having PMS for 3 months (if not 9!). I would definitely take DH with you to the Dr. when you go. If you are not depressed, he needs to understand that mood swings are normal with pregnancy and that he needs to be more understanding. Also, I have to wonder what kind of fight you were having with a loving husband while you are pregnant with his child that would prompt him to say he wants to see other people. Had you crossed the line first? I hope that you two are strong enough to work through this! Good Luck and best wishes.

Sorry, it has been awhile since I have been able to check in. Work has been so busy lately and I also work a part-time job. By the end of the day and week, I am just exhausted!
I am still having crazy dreams, but none of them are baby related.
We got to hear the heartbeat on October 27th. At first she couldn't find it and both DH and I got real worried, but she found it:)
I can tell that my belly is growing, people are definitely noticing.
Shoot, the phone won't stop ringing. I will come back for shout outs in a bit.
Hope everyone is well!!

Well, I am sooo happy the week is over! My students drove my blood pressure through the roof this week.
Not much to say...but Happy Weekend to everyone!
clzj ~ I have been going through this with DH also. Except, I found out from him (after a long and heated discussion) that he is really stressed out right now. You know, baby's on the way, money issues, house issues ("No Sex" issues - which happens to be the biggest one. I'm red-headed, which unfortunately bites me in the rear sometimes, so I have a huge temper (I know, stereotype, but for me, it's the truth). So pg hormones and mood swings are no fun in my house. I hope that everything works out. I'll keep you in my prayers! But, taking him to the Dr. sounds like a good idea, and maybe a romantic night out. :rolleyes:
I'm off to get ready for my cousin's rehearsal dinner!

clzj:
First of all, big huge hugs to you. Now is definitely not the time that one would need (as if ever) to go thru a rough patch w/your DH.
However, please know that it can be quite common.
Sounds to me, like your H is on stress/fear overload. I dont know what to tell you than to absolutely stand firm that you will not agree to and will not tolerate his suggestion of seeing other people. I am so sorry you had to even hear that idea.
Hang in there and just try to talk. ? I really hope things get better for you.
I had another CC friend who went thru something similar during her PG and things worked out fine...took some time, and patience, but things did work out well.
Other than that, I would suggest, if you have not already, check out the site: www.marriagebuilders.com
If you hubby is open to it, you may want to get some books/tapes and read/listen together. DH and I went thru a rocky patch once too, and while he never actually "participated" in my online "counseling", I did learn a lot of tools to help us get thru. Changing MY attitude, did wonders to help change his also.
Work on things now, because this is when your hormones are managable. :) Wait a few more months, and it will be so much worse. I cried a lot during my last trimester....for no apparent reason. :)
Hang in there.... and I Ditto Foxy's "romantic night out" suggestion.
Go have fun..and try not to talk about any triggers...ie: the baby, money, stress, etc. Just enjoy being together.

QOTD #1: As we will most likely have a repeat C-sec, again, only DH will be in the OR w/me.
FWIW, I did push (for 2 hours) w/our DD, and again, it was only our nurse, DH and myself in the room. I dont think I could have tolerated anyone else. :p
QOTD #2: Due to C-sec, the "day" will be set...so most people will know already. Again, as last time though, I think our parents will call the other relatives to let them know the "arrival time".
QOTD #3: Yes, we will find out baby's gender this time too.
Last time, we found out at 16w along. DH was at the U/S w/me. This year, he wont be there (most likely) so to change it up, we'll have the U/S tech write the gender down, and place it in a sealed envelope.
Then, we plan on going out to dinner, just the 2 of us...and open the envelope then.
(ps--this idea stolen from another Nov04 Mommy when finding out about her baby #2 also. Thx M.M!) :D
I did find out the gender last time, and I cant tell you how knowing, changed everything. I fell in love with the PBK animal bedding BEFORE knowing..but soon as they said GIRL...it went back to the store and I HAD to have something a lot more GIRLY. LOL I'm glad I found out the gender. We did keep the name a surprise until birth though, which was both fun (for us) and was also a let down (for others). My sister said they were SO excited to hear the name (Simone) that when they FINALLY found out...it was like, "oh, thats it?" I was po'd at the time..but I'm over it. Not sure how we'll deal with it this time around. :D
------------
Had my 2nd OB visit this week.
Dr moved my due date up from 5MAY to 2MAY but I'm okay w/keeping it a Cinco de Mayo baby still. More fun to say that. LOL
Baby will be c-sec, so again, we will know exact date (which is weird to be able to "choose" it..but ah well).
BP was higher, but was same as w/my DD, so OB not to worried yet.
All other tests negative and things looking good. She gave me 14W last Tues, so today I'm 14w3d as of today.
No weight gained, which I was shocked at. Actually, just .5 pound. I'm already a bit over my ideal weight, so this can typically happen. I gained 35 w/my DD and hope to keep it the same or less, if possible this time too.
Well, I've written a novel again.
Hope you are all doing well. Cant believe its Tri 2 time already!! WOW.

Lots of qotds!
#1 - DH and whatever med staff is making sure that I really will evict this alien when the comes! :D
#2 - We'll call immediate family, a few friends, and a few co-workers. We were still so amp'd up after DD birth we were on the phone for quite a while before we crashed. But it was nice to get the word out and tell people when it was ok to visit and call.
#3 - Call me old fashion but there is just something really magically about hearing "congrats - you've had a ...." You learn so much about your pg along the way - it's nice to have a surprise at the end. And my other fear - I'll be told one it's one thing and it'll still be a surprise. I just don't want the moment to be a disappointment.
clzj - you are doing the right thing by talking about it - make sure you both keep talking to each other. Marriage isn't as easy as we were all lead to be believe - it takes a lot of work and with a baby on the way - it takes that much more. Hang in there and know that we are here to support you!
clothes - I think the farewell tour of normal pants is coming to an end - thank goodness for low rise pants since I can still get into a couple of pairs of jeans but I'm starting to make the girls with muffin tops look good. :o

Woohoo 13wks and finally starting to feel better....and stopped throwing up...
SO let me try to catch up -
QOTD #1: After 36 hours of labor my DS was an emergency C section. My recovery was not bad and I will most likely have a repeat C-sec, again, only DH will be in the Operating room.
QOTD #2: I am thinking about keeping the delivery date a secret to add an element of surprise. The phone tree in my family is infamous and word travels fast.
QOTD #3: Yes, I can't wait to find out the gender.
We found out last time and I could have sworn I was having a girl, so I was able to get used to the boy idea and bond with my son. I loved having everything ready and done before hand.

I have my first appointment with the midwife set up for tomorrow, 11/5. But it's really more of a consultation than anything else. There isn't much to do at this point since it is too early to hear a heartbeat (since I'm refusing doppler) and I will be refusing all vaginal exams, pap smears, etc. until my 6wk post-partum. And since I have some flab on my belly I'm not sure how easy it will be for her to measure the fundus at this stage. She'll also write me an order for blood work (STD testing, etc.) which I don't really want to do, but it will make it easier with refusing the eye ointment if we somehow do end up at a hospital. But mostly the point is to just discuss things and see if I like her or not. I'm also nervous about discussing the fact that (most probably, like 90% sure) I won't want her to actually come for the birth. Other UCers sometimes just lie about their plans and then call "too late" but I don't feel comfortable with being deceptive like that.
I haven't gained any weight yet, but since I already had extra that's alright. But I've only been weighing myself 1x per month, so that I don't really focus on the numbers and just concentrate on eating healthy foods and being active.
----
QOTD #1: Well, I'll be at home and it will just be myself and DH. I will probably want my mother to be in the house to help out with the dogs and food and stuff, but not in the room when I deliver. And I'm not sure I'll even want DH with me at that point, I may want to be 100% alone like a cat.
QOTD #2: Well, I haven't given anyone in real life any sort of due date just said that I'm due "in the spring, probably May," so no one will be expecting a call at any particular point. And to me it's not a priority to contact them. My mom will be around and we'll have to call my Dad and DH's parents and that's it. I'm sure my mom will call and tell her family the next day. And I have a couple of friends I will call within a couple days. But I don't plan on accepting any visitors for at least a week. And I really don't want DH or I to spend much time on the phone. After we call his parents, we'll probably turn the ringers off on all the phones and leave a message on the machine saying that we will call them at the end of the week.
QOTD #3: In a lot of ways I would like to know the gender, but not enough to have an ultrasound.
Feisty
11-04-2006, 08:32 AM
#1 - Just me and DH. I get worried about how others are feeling too much to have to worry about it in labor!
#2 - We'll call at least our parents, and depending on how we feel, let them spread the word or do it ourselves.
#3 - I'm on the fence about finding out the gender, my mom didn't and says it was one of the best surprises of her life. But I wonder if it would help DH and me feel like it's more real? The belly and kicking will probably do that w/o finding out the sex. We'll see.
I'm feeling a bit better. Morning sickness has kicked my butt. The past 6 weeks have been horrible, but recently I've had some good days, so maybe this will wrap up in the next few weeks, as people keep telling me. I've had two midwife appointments. Yesterday they told me I'm measuring "large for my dates." So I'm getting an ultrasound next Friday. There is no way I'm farther along than I think I am, my periods were regular and I got a BFP at 3w 5d. Soooo, I'm hoping it's just a big baby, and not twins :eek: or a serious problem :( At least the HB sounded nice and strong. We'll see.
The thing that's weird is I'm not showing at all, but they are telling me I'm large. My DH was like "oh yeah? then where's the belly?"

Hey everyone! Been a while, this thread moves so fast. It's funny, the same thing happened during my last pregnancy, I just didn't want to turn on my computer for days...weird computer aversion. But I'm on today and glad to hear that so many of your m/s problems are passing! I'm 10 weeks 6 days today and excited to be almost 12 weeks, which is when my Dr. says the 2nd trimester starts. Been feeling....okay I guess. Sick in the morning, GREAT in the afternoon, sick at night again. But still no throwing up, so I guess I shouldn't complain too loudly. Life is moving right along tho. It's funny, we still haven't told my family, though we told DH's about a month ago. We'll see my family in early December, and I think I'll just show up pregnant and see what they say! I'm so excited for the Holiday Season! Yippee!!
#1: Last time it was just DH and I. This time, we'll be closer to family (we're moving in Dec to the town where much of his family lives), but I still think I only want him in the room. Brief visitors are fine for the early labor, but actual delivery...I just don't want my in-laws to know me THAT WELL. Right? Lol.
#2: I think DH just called everyone last time, or maybe just the folks and they passed it around. Can't remember. Oh wait, no, he sent an adorable email to everyone! It was great!
#3: We found out the gender with DD and we loved it cuz we could start using her name and feeling more attached. We will find out this time as well, it just helps us bond more.
So anyway, DD turns 1 year old this week. I can't believe it! She's so adorable and we can't wait for her to be a big sister! She's gonna be great! Anyway, Dr. appt not for a while, and it'll just be a checkup since the Dr. doesn't do bloodwork until like 16 weeks or something and my 2nd appt is only at 14 weeks. So I'll go back 2 weeks later for blood work. Other than that, won't have another u/s until 20 weeks, and then probably not another one unless there seems to be something wrong. Here we have appts every 4 weeks until 36 weeks, and then 1 a week until 40. I think anyway, I can't really remember if they do the 2 week thing at 34 weeks...hmm...will have to check.
Anyway, sorry for the ramble! Have a great weekend ladies!

Sunshine, wow, that's a lot of trick-or-treaters! Did that mean no leftover candy to snack on? :p
ummserious, congrats!
aidensmommy, I hope you can avoid that much bedrest this time around. How did you do it last time? My doc told me I'll likely be on bedrest by February/March and I'm half dreading it and half looking forward to lots of relaxation time (although I'm sure I'll get bored fast!).
foxyboo, I'm glad your bleeding episodes stopped. Those are so scary. I've only had one so far, but it freaked me out completely and I spent a very worried and emotional afternoon before it went away.
clzj, I think certain antidepressants are okay while pg. Definitely talk to your doc! Hugs to you and I hope things get better!!!
QOTD1, I'm not sure yet. DH for sure. I want a doula, so her as well. My folks and best friend will be on call in case I want them there. Under no circumstances will my ILs be allowed anywhere me; I don't even want to call them till after the babies are born! But for now, we're planning to go to the hospital by ourselves and then figure out who else we want around after we're settled in and I see how I feel.
QOTD2, probably a lot of people! Parents and grandparents, obviously, and about a half dozen of our closest friends. Everyone else will probably get a call later on after things settle down.
QOTD3, we feel that there are so few true surprises in life.... we want to be surprised with that whole "It's a boy! It's a girl!" moment. I kind of want to know so I can plan and buy stuff, but since we're not bringing anything into the house before they're born anyway, that doesn't matter so much. And it means a lot to DH, so wait we will!
I'm glad I have you guys to read along with so I can see what to expect in the coming weeks! I'm only 8w6d over here, but already not fitting into most of my clothes. Sigh. These two are definitely starting to show themselves! I'm trying to stay in my regular clothes at least through Thanksgiving b/c we're going away then and by the time I come back I'll be in the 2nd tri and able to share the news with the rest of the world! I'm still avoiding the worst of the m/s, but the constant queasiness is here and I can't wait till it leaves. Hopefully soon!
Have a great week everyone!

Well, my Dad told us that he wants to buy us a crib for Christmas, and the Bay is having a sale this week, so to go look. I feel like it is too early, but of COURSE I wanted to have a peek!
Anyhow, we found a crib we both liked, AND it was 20% off:D Even better:) That means we can buy a dresser/change table too! He said we could spend $500! I am SO EXCITED!
Anyways, so we are going to The Bay tonight to order the crib, look at some dressers etc, and then to register, since when you register you get a 15% coupon too!
They have bedding on sale 30% off as well, so we will look, even tho I WANT WANT WANT the kidsline Zanzibar set:)

~Well, my gums have started to slightly bleed when brushing my teeth.
~Sneezing has gone away for now (knocks on wood) BUT my stuffiness is still there.
~My back really bothers me when I walk for long periods of time (shopping) or standing. I had to take a couple of sit down breaks yesterday! LOL!
~I am a crying machine. Like it is getting worse and worse.(I DEFINATELY cry once a day!) On Friday DH asked me if I was hungry and I was. SO he asked me what I wanted, and I honestly didnt know. So do I sob a bit? NO, I full out BAWL MY EYES OUT. My body was heaving I was crying so badly...My Dad asked me the next day if DH had hit me or something :rolleyes:......I said of course not, I am just stupid emotional. DH said he wants to video tape me so I can show all you ladies how bad my mood swings are! LMAO!
~Oh, and I KNEW my breasts were getting bigger. I started out as a C34, and am now a D36, and noticed that I am popping out of my bra already....so I need to go up another cup size. Well, anyways, we were out for lunch with friends I havent seen in a cuple of months yesterday and she says to me "OMG......you have grown" I thought she meant my belly and she says "NO.....your......you know" So I laughed and said "Yah....I know. I am not looking forward to this part of it anymoer" She asked me why...and I said "I have enough of them BEFORE i got pregnant, and they are just going to get bigger and bigger?????"
LOL! Anyways....it is now very noticeable to everyone else! GREAT! LOL!
Anyways.........
melg~I definately have a weird taste in my mouth too....It drives me nuts. I brush my teeth probably 6 times a day, EASY!
maniach~That is GREAT you got to hear the heartbeat!
Yolanda~I havent really had any baby dreams yet either. i did have a scary dream the other night hto, I woke up with my heart pounding:(
That is SO GREAT you got to hear the heartbeat! Sorry about the scare tho...
CMW02~So you will have the c-sec on the 2nd? I think its kind of cool you know when the birthdate will be ahead of time!
erin16nj~Happy belated 13 weeks!!!
Rico'sAlice~You want to be alone maybe? Arent you a bit scared to be alone?
I agree, I would have to tell the midwife, I dont know how i would do it. I would probably wait for another appointment or 2 and then just spit it out! LOL!
Feisty~LOL at your DH's comment!
I hope m/s will end for you soon!
emilyln~AWE! Happy 1st birthday to your daughter!!!!
gymwidow~yah, we didnt have much to much on. But I did have some leftover sugar Rockets to munch on. They are my fav, so I didnt care about anything else! LOL!
~K, I cant believe I rambled that much. Sorry.....Hope everyone has a GREAT WEEK!
LONG WEEKEND coming up and I couldnt be happier! LOL!

Edited to say: Ugh, momentary pregnant brain lapse - I am 10 weeks, 6 days today - still another week until 12.
I enjoyed reading about all of your symptoms, Sunshine. Mine are:
*The fatigue had eased up, but for the past 4 days I have been super tired. Naping and then going to bed around 8-9.
*So thirsty! Can't get enough to drink. I hope that's not a sign that I'm going to develop gestational diabetes.
*out of breath today - I hope that this isn't a permanent thing - I thought it was supposed to come much later. I was having some trouble talking while teaching today. :(
And that's about it! Hope everyone's going well!
New QOTD: If anyone is thinking names, I would love to hear them!

This is long...but I hope someone can help.
OK, I have another question that I wanted to ask....kind of TMI, but I need some advice/reassurance. I'm going to ask my ob at my next appointment (next Thursday).
What do regular cramps feel like? That may sound silly, but I don't think that my period cramps are "normal." From what I have heard from others, they have pain in their stomach. Well before/during my period I would always have pain in my abdominal area, but also in my...vaginal area. So much so that I would not be able to sit down. I'd have to take medicine and then lay down for 20-30 minutes before getting up.
Anyway, I have had some of that same pain (not bad, just twinges/light shooting, and not often) since being pregnant. I read last night that when your cervix is dialating you may feel pain in your vaginal area....so I'm worried that there might be something wrong with my cervix. But one would think that with all my infertility testing that something like that would have been caught.....
So...has anyone experienced anything like this? Those of you who have given birth to a child...does labor/cervix enlarging cause pain in the vaginal area?
Sorry that was so long...and thanks. :)

Sunshine ~ OMG! That is the same bedding I want! I'm a little bit of a "safari" freak and if I had it my way, would have leopard print bedding. But, since DH doesn't like the animal print, I figured wild animals would be close enough!!
Talk about emotional! I had a wedding/rehearsal dinner/goodbye luncheon to go to this week. (All 3 different days!!) Anyways, I had a dress that I made a couple of years ago for a wedding that last time I tried it on, it was a little big. When I went to try it on Friday night to make sure I could wear it on Sat, I couldn't even zip it! Then, to make matters worse, all of my fitting clothes, didn't fit anymore or were dirty, so I couldn't even make matching outfits. I begin bawling so hard, I thought DH would think I was crazy or get mad. He was so sweet about it and told me that I look beautiful and that I'm supposed to not fit in my clothes, etc. I couldn't believe it!:eek: That's the nicest he's been in a while. So...clzj ~don't get too down. They do change! (Sometimes it just takes a while.)
I did find a dress! It's not a maternity dress, but it had an empire waist and plenty of room for my bbs & stomach to grow.
The migraines are coming worse every few days now. I woke up in the middle of the night last night, and started crying cause I couldn't take the pain. I took 2 tylenol and went back to bed. Then DH gave me a massage (I've been asking for one for a looooong time!) My headache finally went away early afternoon. I may have to get a script for them soon though.:( :(

Ugh....I just stepped on the scale and I am up 6 lbs total. :( That's 3 lbs in the last week. That cannot be right! I didn't gain any weight through 7 weeks, gained 3 lbs in 2 weeks, and now another 3 lbs in one week. Water weight, hopefully? I don't feel like I've been over eating (although we did eat out a lot this weekend - and I finished my meals, something I usually don't do). :(
This brings me to another question of the day: How much weight did you gain during your first trimester/or if you aren't there yet, so far?
--------------------
I guess I will go ahead and answer the QOTD that I posted today:
QOTD: Names: Our top boy names are: Benjamin (call him Ben), Nathaniel (Nathan) and Stephen. Our top girl names are Abigail (Abby), Allison, Anna, Bethany, Caroline, Katherine, Emily, Hannah, Rachel, or Sarah. We're having more trouble with girl names, as you can see. :)
QOTD weight: At 11 weeks, I am now up 6 pounds (all gained within the past 4 weeks). :(

Rico'sAlice~You want to be alone maybe? Arent you a bit scared to be alone?
I agree, I would have to tell the midwife, I dont know how i would do it. I would probably wait for another appointment or 2 and then just spit it out! LOL!
When I envision the birth I don't see myself totally alone and I know that DH would be sad to not be there, but I know there is a possibility that I will feel more inhibited in his presence and need to be totally alone. But I'm not scared about it either way. It will really just depend what kind of space I'm in (spiritually, emotionally, etc.) when the time comes.
Anyway I met with the midwife on Sunday and things went so much better than I had dreamed. We talked about different stuff at first and then I just went ahead and told her that I was thinking I wouldn't want her there for the actual birth. I was nervous but she was completely open to it. She said she actually had felt that way with her first birth but in the end did call the midwife and then with her second did do it alone because it went so quickly. She said I can just wait and see how I feel and make the decision to call or not when I go into labor. But I would need to pay her an "on call" fee of some sort if she ends up not actually attending the birth, which is understandable.
But whether I ultimately decide to have her there or not I was so excited about her attitude as far as this being my birth and my body and that all decisions are mine. And she sees her role as only to offer information and support and that she's not going to tell me what I have to do regarding any testing, GBS+ treatment, post dates, etc. And she said that if she was at the birth she wouldn't tell me when to push or anything like that.
Plus she totally got what I was saying in terms of resenting the notion of her "allowing" me to do certain things- like even though I'm sure she would say it is fine for me to eat and drink during labor (for me) it is wrong to even have to ask. I appreciate receiving facts and advice but am not comfortable with the traditional relationship between patients and healthcare practitioners and this idea of getting "permission." So it was really great that she was on the same wavelength.
DH really seemed to like her too. Initially he was pretty committed to the idea that we definitely wouldn't want anyone else there for the birth, but I think now that he met her and she is so laid back and hands-off he'll be fine with whatever I end up deciding.
And the midwife said she likes dogs...which is petty important for anyone coming to our crazy animal house!

Weight QOTD: Nothing so far, but I was already carrying some extra before.

QOTD Names - boys so far are Aiden and Jacob... possibly Andrew (Drew). Girls are Mia and Claire. We're stumped there!
QOTD Weight - I am 12 weeks, 1 day, and haven't gained anything. Which is the TOTAL opposite of pregnancy #1. By 10 weeks with DS, I had already gained 10 lbs.

I am so slacking in here! Chasing a toddler and being pg is certainly challenging. The last few days have been easier. Almost out of the 1st trimester and starting to get a little energy back. ;) I even managed to cook dinner tonight! WOOHOO!! And that leads me to...
I just don't feel I have the time to keep caught up on updates for the thread. If someone would like to step up as co-threadmistress, I would really appreciate it! It's not hard at all! Honest! :)

I'm not really sure what to write.
I am no longer going to be a part of this thread. I had some spotting over the weekend and went in for an u/s yesterday. Baby only measured 8 weeks instead of the 12 that I am supposed to be and there was no heartbeat. Laying in that room alone, with an ultrasound tech who wouldn't look at me, was so incredibly heartbreaking and I really, really hope no one else has to go through it.
I am going to be watching over ya'll though and I wish nothing but the best for all of the May babies!!
So threadmistress please remove me from the roster

JRose, that is so heartbreaking. I am so sorry you had to endure it alone. I wish at least that DH had been there with you to hold your hand or something.

QOTD: I have only gained about 5 lbs, which is a relief because I thought it would be at least 10 the way I've been eating.
Here's another question, especially for those of you who are already mommies: What do you think of the convertible cribs? Good idea or waste of money? I wanted to get a nice furniture set for the baby's room because we just haven't ever really been able to get nice stuff before and I thought "what better time than with a new baby?" Anyway, DH thinks it's a bad idea because the furniture will get stickers on it and scratches and that we won't continue to like the style and would have to get new stuff eventually anyway. But, I figure if you need the stuff anyway (like a dresser and changing table) and buy real wood and classic styles, you will always like it and you can just refinish it if it's scratched or stickered. What are your thoughts?
Thanks! Hope everyone has a happy Tuesday!

Updated to Here
Please keep JRose in your thoughts - we are so very sorry for her loss.
JRose-I can understand the being alone when you are told you have lost a child. Last year I beat my dh to the hospital and went to ld by myself. They could not find the hb with the bedside so I new there was something wrong. Then I went to the level 2 and I was still alone and was told there was no heartbeat.
Name QOTD: I don't know on this. We had a few picked out with the loss and I don't know if we are going to use them
Weight QOTD: I think I am down more than last time. I will see on Friday.
Convertible crib: I have one and I did not convert it out for DS because we were expecting. The only thing that I know about them is that once they are converted out you should not put them as a crib. We went with it because we looked at it as we would only buy one crib and then need to buy one other big bed if we had 2 children.

foxyboo~LMAO! I actually have DH ONLY wanting that bedding now! We went to register last night and when she asked us the theme my DH says "A jungle theme. We are going to buy the Zanzibar set!" LOL!
Awe....sorry for you not fitting into anything:( That is great your DH was so supportive AND that you found another dress! YAY!
Rico'sAlice~That is SO GREAT about your midwife. She sounds WONDERFUL!
JRose~OMG, my heart is breaking for yuo. I am so sorry that you had to be alone to receive that news:( Take care...
QOTD:convertible cribs~I am not a 2nd mommy, but the crib we ordered IS a convertible crib. I was set on getting one!
QOTD weight:At 14 weeks I was up 9lbs...I didnt gain anything until about 8 weeks.....and then BAM, I was up.....
QOTD:Are you registering~*OMG* We went to order our crib yesterday, I dont remember if I posted, I think I did, about my Dad offering to buy our crib for Xmas, anyhow. When we went last night to order it from The Bay, the guy told us he wouldnt order it until we registered. The Bay's registery IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! We get everything on sale even if it ISNT on sale! We get 10% off if it is on our registry (So basically if we want to buy something up to a year after the baby is born, you go put it on the registry and then buy it), and then they give you a 15% coupon. So on our crib that we are buying for $339, we are only paying $241 including tax!!!!!!!!!!!! We found a stroller http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a313/dellswife/01726AFD.gif as well, so for the both of them we will pay less than $450!
We left the store GIGGLING we were so excited! LMAO!
Hope is everyone is well today!

JRose: I am soooo sorry that you had to go though all that alone. HUGS!
Sorry I have not been posting more. But I have been reading along. I still feel terrible. The zofran is not touching the throwing up and my doctor is pretty much not caring. He bascially said. As long I was peeing that I was fine. I think I soooo need fluids but he will not send me the the hospital. I am getting a little annoyed with this attitude. With my daughter, my doctor in Mass sent me a million time to get fluids, well not in Maine. The insurance is soooo bad that doctors don't want to do any extra. I have already owing about $400 for this baby and we have full insurance that we pay a boatload of money a month. UGGGGG
I have actully lost about 7 lbs. which is not a bad thing cause I have a good deal of extra chunk :) I lost this much with Paige and I ended up gaine about 30 lbs total.
I have a converrtable crib and the minute Paige starting getting out of the crib we turned it into the toddler bed. It worked good. She was in that for about a year. She started getting out of the crib around 18 months :(
Well off to vote!
