Is it just me, or has anyone else thought this show just fell off into the TV wasteland? I'm so glad to see it's finally coming back. I can't wait to find out what happened with Danny and Delinda.

I checked the schedules to make sure it was coming back. I am so stoked about this premiere. There's so many good storylines going on!

FINALLY!!! It seems like we waited forever and a day for this one to come back on!! I don't remember it premiering this late last year. Anyway, I can't wait for this week. Does anyone have a brief refresher on what happened in the season finale? I remember most of it but some of the details are a tad on the fuzzy side. Definitely remember Delinda and Danny, and a gunshot going off (supposably at Ed but I'm still not sure it was really him).

Can't wait!!!! :D

it was Ed, that's right! And something with Vanessa, but I don't really recall. TWOP.com lists the show as canceled and has nothing beyond the first season (I don't get that) and TV.com doesn't have a recap - they only has this to say "While Delinda is preparing to get married old romances resurface. Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties are being planned. Meanwhile Ed is being visited by his CIA past."

But here's a SpoilerFix.com spoiler for the premier --> Episode 4.01: Father of the Bride Redux
Airdate: October 20, 2006

* 09/30 - Everyone is shocked, when Ed is attacked by an armed gunman. Meanwhile, an emotional Delinda admits her feelings for Danny, to her fiance Derek's (Shawn Christian, guest star) dismay. Elsewhere, Sam travels to Hawaii to contend with a whale who won't vacate the Montecito's Hawaiian Villas. Nikki Cox and James Lesure also star and Cheryl Ladd guest stars. Kelly Hu and Musician Jewel also guest star. Source: NBC
* 07/04 - We will learn whom Delinda will choose in the season premiere. One of the regular cast members will travel to London to take care of business... Source: SpoilerFix BuddyTV Spoilers Chat
* 07/01 - Code Red is in motion at the Montecito. Black suited security are taking position with earpiece in place and weapon ready to be used. Mike, Mitch, and a new surveillance tech named Shannon (who'll be a recurring) investigate the camera shots and the assess the situation. Ed is in his suite with the unknown gunman. Danny rushes to the suite and decides to take matter in his own hands instead of waiting for the SWAT team... Will he find Ed dead or alive? At the wedding, everyone, including Mary and Casey, is wondering why the ceremony hasn't started yet. Not knowing of the situation occurring elsewhere in the casino, Jillian panics when she cannot reach Ed or Delinda. Mike must deal with card cheats and someone tapping into the security system. Sam must deal with a whale who's been spending time in the Montecito's Hawaiian Villas. The villas are run by Casey's younger half-brother, Vic. Sam and Vic have had a thing in the past but she refuses to acknowledge it. When Sam must come to Hawaii to deal with her whale, Vic wants to confront Sam about what happened. Derek also appears. Woody (from "Crossing Jordan") and Jewel may appear. Source: SpoilerFix.com

Cool Random Trivia I found on WikiPedia...
* Many of Mandalay Bay's interiors and exteriors (including its wave pool) have been used as Montecito exteriors, although (according to the Internet Movie Database) interiors are now filmed in a California set that is a replica of the Mandalay Bay.

* In several episodes, the fly-through video clips inaccurately depict the movement of the camera into a casino which is clearly the Mandalay Bay - not the Montecito. Many of the interiors and exterior shots of the casino can be shown depicting Mandalay signage and names.

* The theme song is different in different countries. In Australia, UK, Netherlands etc. it is 'Let It Ride' by Charlie Clouser in some countries though including USA the theme song is 'A Little Less Conversation' by Elvis. The American DVD release of the shows utilizes the Clouser song rather than the Elvis song used during the broadcasts.

* Don Johnson was considered for Ed Deline.

* Critics claimed that the show wouldn't last a season. It was the only show that year to be renewed for a second season by NBC.

* A novel, "High Stakes Game" by Jeff Mariotte, tells what occurred between the season two finale and the season three premiere when the casino was destroyed and rebuilt and the characters briefly went their separate ways.

* There are many themes in the new Montecito that are associated with the upcoming casino The Cosmopolitan. Many posters in the background are the same as the posters from the Cosmopolitan.

* In one of the third season episodes a character asks James Caan about the character Sonny Corleone from the Godfather in which Caan responds "Never seen it". Humorous because Caan of course played that character years ago.

How odd that the start date is unclear. My TiVo had it scheduled for tomorrow the last time I checked (earlier this week). Guess we'll just have to wait & see.

Count me in with those who are excited to see this show return finally! :)

(Too bad Las Vegas will air at the same time as Men in Trees, though - I've been enjoying that show for the past few weeks. Good thing I've got a VCR in our bedroom as a backup for our TiVo! ;) )

I was mostly happy with it. A little less Jewel would've been nice!

jimmysgirl424
10-30-2006, 12:32 PM
Yeah, I thought the use of Jewel's music during the last 20 minutes or so was rather excessive. I prefer how they did it last season, with the band of choice playing one song towards the end that everyone jams to. I don't even like Jewel that much. :p

I liked the episode, but it jumped around alot from person to person and it got to be a little irritating. I'm glad the show is back though!

What was up with Mary being all pi$$ed off like that? She was seeing Casey but its not ok for Danny to hook up with Delinda? I thought she was acting like a spoiled little brat at times.

I agree. While I can understand her being upset that she was the last to find out about Danny/Delinda, her reaction was excessive.
Was anyone else cracking up with the woman in prison cuddling with Sam?

I'm glad this show is back!

I am so glad there is a thread for this show. DH and I are addicted. We thought Sam was HYSTERICAL in this episode. I always thought I would want Danny with Mary but I am liking him and Delinda together. And as far as Mary being so pissy...she and Danny were always just friends right until they hooked up season 2 or whenever it was which was AFTER he had already been with Delinda. So actually, Mary really has no right to be mad!

As a matter of fact, Danny actually hooked up with Delinda in episode one, season one! So you are absolutely right, Mary has no reason to be mad! Besides, she's been involved with several men through the past few seasons other than Danny, so she just needs to get over it already!

this week was good, not as good as last week though. Mary was really annoying, Mike and Sam are so funny as usual. I was glad Delinda pointed out to Mary that she is the one that decided not to marry Danny and refused his ring. She really has no right to be so crazy about this whole thing.

Damn, don't tell me the Christmas episode was a really good one...because I missed it! We had a HUGE rain/wind storm here Thursday night, and although we got lucky and got our power back on by early Friday evening, our cable tv & Internet were out until this morning. So TiVo recorded Las Vegas for me & the sound was fine, but the picture was black & white & really fuzzy so you could hardly see anything. I tried watching the first few minutes of the show, but the picture was so bad that it seemed pointless to put up with it for the full hour. Bummer! :(

Mine too! Thank goodness I'm not alone...I had tears streaming down my face. At least DH was asleep and couldn't make fun of me, but I thought it was a very emotional episode. Then again, these days even some commercials can make my hormonal self cry!

Off to NBC to see what Danny's gift was!

Yay, I finally got to see the Christmas episode! :D They were supposed to re-air it last week but then it wasn't on...then I tried to watch it on the NBC website but the links wouldn't work...but finally my TiVo caught it when they re-played it this week. I agree with you guys, this was a great episode (although it was a little bit serious/sad for Las Vegas)! I have no clue what Reggie's gift to Sam was, though. Hmmm...

03-03-2007, 11:18 AM
Wow, that was quite an episode last night! I enjoyed it...but it was kind of weird that there were SO MANY different big storylines going on all at once! Usually there's maybe 1 or 2...but this time just about every character had something major going on. I know they're building up to next week's big season finale but still, it just seemed like the show kicked into high gear all of the sudden this week.

I'm interested to see what's up with the rich guy who kidnapped Sam, & also I wonder if there's more going on with Mike's new girlfriend than what it seems. What was up with that thing with the elevator cameras going dark for several minutes? Seemed like they showed the security guy telling Mike about that for a reason...?

Peppy
03-03-2007, 12:22 PM
I had no idea there was a Las Vegas thread here. I also had no idea anyone but me watched this show! :)

There were some things I loved about last night's episode and some things I really didn't like at all. I loved the whole Sam storyline (and she is SO tiny--she fit in that trunk with a lot of room to spare!). I liked that Jillian stood up for herself and decided she needed to take a real stand. I also liked the Mike storyline.

But I thought that Danny punching Ed was totally out of character. Sure, he was pissed, but he idolizes Ed. And he is Delinda's dad and Delinda is very devoted to him. So the punching seemed too much to me. I am also pretty sick of Mary. She just doesn't seem to fit on the show anymore, and I don't really think Nikki Cox is a very good actress. All I can look at when she is on the screen are her obvious boob job and her lips, which seem more inflated.

I'm excited for next week, although part of me feels like they are setting up the same story that they set up at the end of last season (or maybe two seasons ago?) when the Monticito was up for sale and demolished.

And Sazoo, I agree there has to be a reason they brought up that the elevators went dark for three minutes!

I was thinking the same thing last night and this is what I can come up with. Maybe he kidnapped her so that she will not be able to make the payment and then he will be able to buy the Monticedo at the lower rate that Ed was talking about. It may be a long shot but I do feel that the show has been very predictable lately, even though I totally love it still!

Rose
03-03-2007, 04:23 PM
Also the guy telling Ed he was thinking of leaving said he heard Casey had got whacked, rather than drowned. Maybe that guy had something to do with it and now has similar plans for Sam as the new owner.

I've only watched the last couple of episodes this season, so I don't really know much of the back story this year.

Ok, DH and I are confused....what favor did Danny ask the gang guy for? We watch every week and neither of us can remember that part of the story.

I'm betting Casey isn't dead. He probably faked his own death and is really the rich guy that just kidnapped Sam.

And (spolier in white) I knew Delinda was going to be pregnant when she walked in eating a corndog. Excuse me...corn burger :)

Ok, DH and I are confused....what favor did Danny ask the gang guy for? We watch every week and neither of us can remember that part of the story. My recollection is that a few weeks ago one of Danny's military buddies was in some trouble (financial trouble, I think) & signed up to do some kind of russian roulette thing (there must have been some big pay-off for surviving it) & when Danny heard that's what his friend was up to he went to some seedy part of town, found this gangster guy & convinced him to tell him the location of the russian roulette thing & that he'd "owe him" in return. Then he busted in & saved his friend before he pulled the trigger...at least I think that's how it ended.

Last night's episode was pretty hectic with all the storylines. I started feeling bad for Ed being pulled this way and that.

I read an article online (I think CNN) stating that Nikki Cox was dropped for the next season and James Caan decided not to come back. So, I'm wondering how it'll work with Mary and Ed. Will they be back for the first episode of the season? My guess is that Ed will rush to the casino and get killed in the gunfire and Mary, well, who cares what happens to Mary?

I know that Delinda will be fine because the article didn't say that she wouldn't be returning...she'll probably miscarry, though. Same with Sam, she'll be ok. I think Mike will find out where the whale's plane is going and he'll figure out a way to get there faster on the Montecito jet...so he'll totally rescue Sam. I think that the coma guy will come back into play and help Sam pay off the IRS.

Sazoo
03-11-2007, 06:56 PM
I read an article in TV Guide recently that confirmed what lml said about James Caan and Nicki Cox leaving the show after this season. I'm wondering what the show will be like without Ed...he's such a pivotal character. I agree about Mary - she's been useless for awhile, so I won't miss her.

Maggie8202

I am almost happy Mary is leaving. There is just so much of watching her weird looking lips and too skinny body!

03-12-2007, 12:13 PM
It's interesting that James Caan won't be back. He totally makes that show--I can't imagine it will last more than another season without him. I hope that they write him off, saying that he gives into Jillian's request that they retire together. It would be nice to see them have a happy ending.

I thought they would carry the Delinda pregnancy through, but if Ed is leaving I find it less likely (unless he is killed). Would Ed or Jillian really leave town if a grandchild was coming? Of course, would they leave her if she had just miscarried? Both options sound unlikely.

As for Mary...good riddance. I would have thought that she would get thrown in jail for killing her father, but she wasn't the one who shot him. She would have been a great character to kill off in a cliffhanger. Totally disposable.

andrew&shannah
03-12-2007, 12:40 PM
I would have thought that she would get thrown in jail for killing her father, but she wasn't the one who shot him.

Do we know who really shot him though? I got the impression we were supposed to think it could have been her, Danny, or Ed. But, I wasn't watching that closely.

Good question. I thought it was Ed, and that he beat Danny and Mary to the punch. But you are right--it was pretty ambiguous. What did everyone else tihnk?

Peppy, good point about Ed & Jillian leaving Delinda either post-miscarriage or while pregnant with their grandchild. I too am really curious how they will write Ed off of the show, & am skeptical as to how the show will do without him.

Well, there were 3 gunshots and 3 shooters. So, maybe each of them got off a shot? I agree, there was a little too much chaos, and we have to wait forever to see how it all pans out. Ii dunno if I would keep watching without James Caan. I love him in this show! I'm also glad Mary will be gone. She is so weird looking!!

So the show doesn't start till the very end of October of last year and ends this darn early? BLECH!!  I'm guessing it won't be back till Fall of this year, which is just plain silly.
I can't imagine this show going on without Ed. His character makes the show worth watching!! What a bummer. I see it being cancelled in no more than two seasons after his departure. Maybe less.

Waaaayyyy too many cliffhangers. They should have solved at least one of them for us, darn it!
