Any Charmed fans out there? I didn't start watching until a couple seasons ago, but now I try to catch up by watching reruns on TNT weekday mornings and evenings. I think I need to cut back, though. The last two nights I've dreamt I was one of the sisters. Night before last I was Paige, last night I was Piper. I even cast a spell ;)

This last season was amazing, and I loved the season finale. I'm so anxious to see where they take next season!!!

Okay, I'll admit it Kim...tonight I am stalking you! :D The boards are pretty quiet tonight, so I went to try to find you & saw that you started this thread about Charmed.

So, count me in as a fan! I've been watching this show for several years now. I don't think I've watched since *quite* the beginning, but close. Unfortunately this past season I missed a few episodes - especially towards the end of the season. In fact, I actually missed the season finale! I don't remember now how I missed it...I think I just forgot it was on because DH & I were watching something else. He was a big fan of The Contender, so I was watching that & taping Charmed most weeks, except a few weeks I forgot to hit record on the VCR. :( Bummer!

I really ought to try to find out if they're replaying any of this most recent season during the summer so I can catch up on what I missed.

I wish I had a "power". :p

They just reaired the finale last Sunday. Keep watching Sunday nights, though. They might show it again, especially before the new season starts.

I want a power, too. Just not all the demons!

P.S. I thought this threat might attract you. :D

You're being saved from VERY weird dreams, then! :D

The one episode we just can't seem to catch is the one where Prue died. We've seen the one before it and the one after it, but somehow always miss the one we want! So I can better prepare to catch it, do you know what season she died in? And what year was that?

I miss Prue so much!!! I cried when she died.

I didn't wach Charmed back then, and haven't seen a lot of Prue episodes, but DH always talks about how he misses her. It bothers him that Prue was killed off supposedly because Alyssa Milano and Shannen Dougherty didn't get along - and Alyssa won. He likes Paige, but still misses Prue.

And is it just me, or does Paige not have an active witch power? She makes potions and does spells, but her only active power is orbing - from her "white-lighter" side. At some point shouldn't she get a witch power? Maybe inherit Prue's power? Has that ever been explained?

Paige honestly gets on my nerves. I've tried to like her but she just works a nerve for me. When Prue was there it was more real and they really seemed like sisters.

Yes, but it's a white-lighter power. Piper and Leo's son Chris seemed to have white-lighter and witch powers when he was visiting from the future. I believe when he shut the front door with a nod of his head the first episode he was in that was a witch power, similar to Prue's.

And, yes, I realize I think this through way too much!

Another Charmed fan. :)

The prophecy said there would be three sisters...one with the power to stop time, one with the power to see the future, and one with the power to move objects with her mind.

Prue's power was to move objects, which she did by waving her hand most of the time. Since Paige is now the third sister, she moves objects, too, but since she is also a white lighter, she does it by orbing them. I don't think that is a typical whitelighter ability.

OK, do I sound like the biggest dork or what? :p

I love Charmed! I didn't know the second season was coming out so soon. I can't wait to get it. I've been watching the show practically from the beginning. I think I missed one season somewhere when Cole was still there and Phoebe joined him in the underworld.

I've seen the episode in which Prue died, but cannot remember which season it is. I think its #4.

I've missed alot of this past season because Extreme Makeover is on the same time.

I cried when "big Chris" died.

i love Charmed!! i have dreams about being a sister during the season since i started watching. i started watching about 3 years ago, and to get caught up, i taped the reruns on TNT. i was such a dork that i would go to the tnt website to see which ones were being played at 9:30am and 6pm, so i could watch them all!

i still haven't watched the season finale. i just don't think i can handle the 'closure' that it was said to have had eventhough i know they announced there would be another season.

The one episode we just can't seem to catch is the one where Prue died. We've seen the one before it and the one after it, but somehow always miss the one we want! So I can better prepare to catch it, do you know what season she died in? And what year was that?
i had a hard time finding this one, too until i started looking at the tnt website. it can be confusing, but there isn't really a see Prue die episode.
explanation: the end of season 3, Shax tries to kill that doctor, the sisters are exposed and piper is shot, so through Cole, Phoebe makes that deal w/ the Source to turn back time. The Source tries to 'trick' them by sending Shax back to kill the piper, prue and the doctor while leo, phoebe and cole are still in the underworld. the season ends w/ piper, prue and the doctor (who is dead) laying on the floor in the manor.
~at this point, it wasn't completely known that Shannon Dohertry is leaving the show, so you don't actually see her laying there dead~
season 4 opens with piper casting spells to try and get prue to come back where she 'calls for a witch' and 'calls for a sister' on the day of the funeral. they explain in another episode that when cole, phoebe and leo come back from the underworld that leo only had time to save piper and couldn't save prue.

so~there you have it. you have probably seen these two episodes that are 'when prue died'. yes, i am a dork, but i know this b/c i have had to explain this to several people i know that started watching w/ the reruns. it took me awhile to figure it out, and i wouldn't have if i wasn't trying to tape it using the episode titles from tnt.com.

Here's an article I just found on Zap2it.com. It talks about the 11th hour notice that Charmed would be back and the addition of Kaley Cuoco (8 Simple Rules) and Jason Lewis. Now I understand why the finale seemed so, well, final. Whew! That was a close one!

Enjoy!

'Charmed' Magically Stays Alive
(Saturday, August 20 12:02 AM)
By Kate O'Hare
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Last April on the set of The WB Network's Sunday-night supernatural drama "Charmed," tempers were a bit frayed. The seventh-season finale was in production, and there was no word yet on whether the show had been renewed.

Star Holly Marie Combs, who plays Piper, the eldest of three demon-vanquishing good-witch sisters, was getting a bit cranky. "I'm not going to sugarcoat it," she said at the time. "I am not pleased. After this amount of time on a network, we deserve better."

Brian Krause, who plays Piper's husband, Leo, was more optimistic, saying, "I think they'd be silly not to bring us back."

"Whatever's going to be is what's going to be," philosophized Rose McGowan, who plays youngest sister Paige.

Alyssa Milano, who spent the better part of her 20s playing middle-sister Phoebe, worried more about the fans, saying, "I don't get ... not giving them what they deserve for hanging in for seven years, because that's going to lose more audience."

The word finally came at the 11th hour, right before the network was to announce its fall schedule to advertisers in mid-May. Apparently, The WB was not willing to toss out the show's 3.5 to 4 million weekly viewers (who would then see promos for The WB's new fall shows). The new season begins on Sunday, Sept. 25.

Says network entertainment chief David Janollari (to whom executive producer Brad Kern had made an impassioned pitch for the new season), "The pickup of 'Charmed,' which has long been a terrific performer for us and held its ground really nicely in its seventh season, was a matter of saying, 'Let's continue to have an 8 o'clock show to anchor the night that we know performs and has a loyal audience."

The decision was also made to add a new, younger witch, Billie, played by Kaley Cuoco ("8 Simple Rules").

With Billie, Janollari wants to "spice things up a little bit, to bring potentially a new and somewhat younger audience into the show."

And, as hope springs eternal in the network breast, Kern points out, "Janollari has some hope, however much of a long shot, that Kaley's character, in combination with any one of the sisters, may want to come back, could keep the show going. There's always that possibility. That door is not closed."

All this happy news meant, of course, that Kern now had to dig himself out the deep dramatic hole he created for the finale.

He had allowed the sisters, collectively known as The Charmed Ones, to wipe their slates clean and start new lives with new identities (played by different actresses), while also protecting the secret of their magical abilities.

"I didn't know we were coming back," Kern says. "What was I supposed to do? It was more of a series finale than a season finale. But there were more than enough elements in there, building blocks, to help me and the writing staff dig out of it, and we have. We've got the first six scripts written as we speak."

One might wonder, with three witch sisters and another witch on the way, why Kern doesn't simply have someone cast a spell and undo everything? According to Kern, that would be cheating, and the fans would resent it.

"Magic might be a Band-Aid," he says, "but it won't be the solution. Our folks wouldn't stick with us if they saw us do, 'Oh, never mind, that didn't really happen.' We have to get out of it authentically. We have to earn it.

"That turns out to be fun for the first third of the season, watching how the girls live their lives after having feigned their deaths and realizing that maybe the identity they left behind, or some part of that identity, they want back."

Unfortunately for Kern, there won't be any magical solutions for his practical problems either. Although the sisters abandoned their old lives, budget restrictions mean Kern must retain all his standing sets, including the sisters' Victorian house in San Francisco.

"Frankly," Kern says, "our budget was cut back substantially in order to come back. That forced my hand tremendously as far as creative choices. It's funny, that was actually my biggest concern, how can I back the stories and the characters into this new, restricted budget and not have it show?"

Kern also has to find room for some new characters, starting with Billie. When original cast member Shannen Doherty left the show, her character, eldest sister Prue, was killed off, and McGowan joined the cast as long-lost half-sister Paige. Billie, though, won't be a member of the family.

"I think we've brought in enough family members over the years," Kern says. "She's just a young witch who has just come into her powers and thinks it's pretty cool to use them, thinks the world is one big video game.

"In order to preserve some semblance of a normal life, the girls are going to wind up having to recruit her to do some of the demonic heavy lifting. At the same time, they're going to have to teach her what a moral compass is."

Originally, Kern was planning to bring in Sugar Ray frontman and "Extra" host Mark McGrath as a new love interest for Phoebe. But scheduling conflicts made that impossible, so now former model Jason Lewis ("Sex and the City") will do a six-episode stint as Dex, who'll be on Phoebe's romantic radar -- and it may get serious.

"We prophesied in earlier seasons that Phoebe's character is meant to have a child," Kern explains. "That'll have a lot to do with the first six episodes. She's going to realize that if the vision's supposed to happen, she'd better get busy soon."

Okay, I've really got to get back into Charmed before the new season starts. I missed several episodes at the end of last season because it was on at the same time as another show DH & I watched & I kept forgetting to tape it. I even missed the season finale, which was apparently quite eventful! KaliLily gave me a synopsis of the finale, but I really wish I'd seen it myself.

Is the WB (or any other network) replaying this past season over the summer? Or maybe there are episode recaps on the WB website...hmmm, maybe I'll have to go check that out. I want to be up-to-speed for the new season, & right now I really feel out of the loop on this great show! :(

Thanks for the info & articles you ladies have posted here about Charmed...that helps fill in some of the holes for me, at least. ;)

Sarah - Yes, the WB has been airing last season reruns on Sunday nights. It's on at either 7 or 8, I can't remember and sometimes it changes, or they play two shows. TNT also airs an episode (usually the one shown by the WB the prior Sunday) at 12am Tuesday nights.

"Charmed" Ep. 9/25/05 - Still Charmed and Kicking - Season Premiere
From Rachel Thomas,Your Guide to TV / Movies for Teens.
"Still Charmed and Kicking"

JASON LEWIS ("SEX AND THE CITY") & KALEY CUOCO ("8 SIMPLE RULES") JOIN THE CAST

Presumed dead, the Charmed sisters start their demon-free existence with new identities brought about by a spell that altered their appearances to the outside world, but not to those closest to them. Phoebe (Alyssa Milano), excited to start her new life, is surprised to see Dex Lawson (Lewis), a gorgeous artist she barely knew, at her funeral and even more surprised when she has a premonition that she will marry him.

Now able to have a normal family life, Piper (Holly Marie Combs) remains paranoid that the demons will find out the sisters are still alive. Attending her funeral disguised as supermodel Janice Dickinson (guest starring as herself), Paige (Rose McGowan) realizes that she spent too much time in the magic world, yet soon figures out that she can't escape her Whitelighter instincts and answers a call of a new charge - a young witch named Billie (Cuoco).

I'm new here at CC and I just found this thread. I love Charmed and I have been watching it from the begining.
While I really liked Prue, I'm sort of glad that she died.(don't hate me!) It really let Piper grow and come into her own, the same for Phoebe.
I'm looking forward to seeing next season and how they play out the sister's new identies.

I wonder how long they'll stay hidden from the demons!

It doesn't seem like they'll stay hidden for long. The "realtor" demon is already suspicious. I was surprised that Leo was presumed dead since he made a bit of a scene at the police line in the finale.

I loved that they had "Wyatt" fight the demons that went to attack "Victor." That was great.

yeah, the voiceover was irking me to no end. The funny thing, she even seemed to have "Carrie's" intonation when she was talking. And that guy that Phoebe's all over...she's going to MARRY him? I thought the same thing - she was using a really annoying baby voice for the voice-overs. My DH laughed when he realized they were copying SATC with the voice-over thing.

So far this season has just been "ok" IMO. We'll see how it progresses, I guess...

I was on vacation last week, so I didn't get to see the last Charmed until today. (My sweet hubby taped it for me.) We watched it together during dinner tonight. I was enjoying the episode, until what seemed to be PIPER doing a voice-over. I soon realized they just started her voice before showing her scene, but apparently the split second of "oh no, not again" showed on my face because DH started laughing and saying, "You shoulda seen your face!" Fortunately, DH thought the same thing when he watched it last Sunday and was ticked off until he realized it wasn't a voice-over.

Other than that brief moment, I thought it was a really good episode. :)

Lets see if I can do this....

Piper sees the Angel of Death but has no clue who he is is after. When he reappears she finds out that he is going to take Leo and he wanted to warn her ahead of time so she could say g*bye. She casts a spell to hide Leo and it makes every man look like Leo. Leo goes to the school to see Wyatt one last time and he sees the Angel of Death just before a truck runs into the cab that he is in. He ends up in the hospital getting ready to go in for surgery for internal bleeding. Piper and Paige get a feeling that there is more to this than it seems and they start some digging. They summon an Elder and an Avatar to find out and they are no help. The sisters summon the Angel of Destiny and she tells them that there is a battle on the way that is nothing like they have ever seen and the pain of losing Leo will motivate them to fight although they may not survive. During this Billie is chasing demons to try and find her sister. She comes across a demon that has "frozen" a demon she was trailing. The sisters decide to get the demon to "freeze" Leo and the Angel of Destiny takes him with her instead of letting him die. If the Charmed Ones win the battle Leo will be saved. The Angel of Destiny also told Billie she will find her sister.

It was kind of a tear jerker ;) Ok I think I got most of it.

The episode 2 weeks ago when Leo was frozen was the only good one all season. I'm OK with this "projection" power of Billie's but who in the world uses "Cold-hearted Assasins" as a "figure of speech"?!?!?! Cold-hearted snake? Yes. But not cold-hearted assassins. That alone showed they were forcing the so-called plot.

KaliLily
01-15-2006, 09:45 AM
The good episode was centered around Death being after Leo. Sensing something wasn't right about it, the girls summoned an Elder and Avatar to them and asked which one of them was behind it.

I don't recall if anyone admitted to it, but the Elder did warn the "Charmed Ones" that they are about to embark on their biggest fight ever and there was concern that Piper would be "too distracted" by Leo. Thus, his untimely demise.

At the same time, the girls encountered a demon who froze his victims alive. They made a deal with the demon to freeze Leo in exchange for not vanquishing him, and the Elders agreed to keep him "up there" until the battle was over. If the Charmed Ones win, Leo will get to go home to his family (unfrozen, of course :)).

On a personal note...I MISS LEO!!!!!! :(

Okay, so today I watched last week's episode finally...& I feel like I must have missed an episode or something. The last episode I remember watching before this one was when Billie saw her sister for the first time...but I don't remember her bringing her sister home with her. So I was confused when at the beginning of this latest episode, the sister was there in the house with them & Billie was trying to get her to open up about who had been keeping her captive, etc. Am I forgetting how the previous episode ended, or was there one in between that I didn't watch?

Sazoo i felt like the same thing but this season sucks so much I was like, well, you know what? I really don't care! :)

Sarah, I haven't missed any episodes since November and I was confused by the beginning of last week's show. All I remembered was Billie going to the place her sister was being held and finding her there.

This season has really struggled. They started out horribly slow and now everything is moving at breakneck speeds. It's sad that they will end such a wonderful show on such a disappointing note.

Okay, well I'm glad I didn't miss an episode, at least. I agree with both of you that this season hasn't been very good, & it is sad to see it go downhill at the end like this. Maybe they should have just ended it last season with the girls walking away with their "new" identities. *shrug*

yeah, this breakneck speed thing is killing me. Billie found her sister, I got that, but she (and the sisters) think they're all best friends and honkey dorrie  Paige is in a new relationship and within a few episodes is SO in love she's now married  The triad is back and now gone  Evil is just hanging out at Magic School (that one's been going on for a while now, but I'm still confused about it) And now there's this Cupid (a hottie, mind you) that's given to Phoebe all her own, because the Elders  feel bad about what they've done (put them through) so they want her to have her magical baby  insane, I tell ya, all of it!

I thought I'd been good about taping episodes I couldn't watch, so I was really suprised at the Christie thing as well last week. I did miss the one where Billie saw her sister and Phoebe decided to move out, but I thought I must have missed a couple w/ her being there. That's insane that you can miss 1 episode and have everything change.

I'm disappointed that they are going to make Billie turn evil. I really don't like that storyline. I'm okay w/ Christie being evil, but I think there is too much invested in Billie for her just to decide to become evil.

I'm okay w/ Paige getting married, and I hope that Phoebe finds someone before the season is over. I really hope they get Leo back soon, and that someone does something about Magic School. It's ridiculous that they haven't tried to take it back. I thought the season was going fine in the beginning, but now, it's getting pretty crazy.

One more thing, didn't Phoebe get her powers back. Why doesn't she use them? I remember her getting a premonition in an episode introducing that she'd earned them back, but now, she never levitates or gets premonitions.

Not that this will be a suprise to anyone here...

'Charmed' a Casualty of WB-UPN Change
NEW YORK - The spell is broken. The witches on "Charmed" won't be making the move when the WB network combines forces with UPN to become the CW network in the fall.

A WB spokesman confirmed a TV Guide report on Friday that said the supernatural series, which stars Alyssa Milano, Rose McGowan and Holly Marie Combs, will end after eight seasons in May.

With "7th Heaven" having already announced its exit, it means that two WB long-running series won't move to the CW. The WB and UPN will both shut down in September.

The final episode of "Charmed" will air on May 21, TV Guide said.

"It's been a hell of a run," Brad Kern, executive producer, told the magazine. "But all good things must come to an end."

Oh well. It was a good run. Last season was supposed to be the end, and I liked that finale. I watched every episode...but I keep missing them this season! LoL. They only brought the show back because of many requests from fans. I'm glad! ;) I can't wait to see the actually finale now...what's left bring to the show?!

I am just so upset that Charmed is going to be over. I've been watching it since day 1 and have pretty much seen every episode there was... I guess I'm just so used to it, that it makes me feel really sad... :(

I saw in the ads that this last batch are all new episodes (five). Will that bring them to the finale? Have all the past couple weeks been repeats? I've missed about the past month or so, and I'm hoping that I didn't really miss anything.

This last Sunday was a new episode. Cupid took Phoebe on a "this is your love life" tour while Paige was on her Honeymoon (VERY little screen time), Billie pestered Christie to see their parents (who were in town) and Piper worked with 2 of Leo's former Magic School students to vanquish some demons that had been held by Magic School for "experiments."

The results: Cupid broke through the wall around Pheobe's heart, Piper and the students vanquished 1 of the 2 demons (the other backed off after making a deal with the last remaining member of the Triad), Christie finally met - and reconnected - with her folks, only to find them murdered in their hotel room by the Triad dude. Christie went after the Triad dude and vanquished him. He died telling her she was now "ready."

Nothing spectacular, really. Better than the beginning of the season, but no where near the "good old days."

Katy - yes, these are the last 5 episodes (the fifth is the Series Finale). The last 4-5 weeks have all been repeats, so - you didn't miss anything new.

Can you share it if you find it? I had my VCR on (yes, I'm in the dark ages), so it didn't tape! Then, I went to see it on TNT, and they aren't playing it on Tuesday nights anymore.

Sure, I'll have the hubby search for it this weekend when get a moment. Otherwise, just try doing a search for "bit torrent, charmed" You'll need the episode number, and usually Richard won't take the copy unless it's 4 or 5 peers/seeds (no clue why). Also, they download in real time - so an hour episode will take and hour to download (and then an hour to burn or view). Oh and Richard also said you'd need to download a torrent application (he uses it frequently for concerts and shows we miss, so he didn't really worry about not using it often enough)

I thought it was an excellent finale. Like jellybean said, the characters acted completely in character, the ending was "satisfying" and it gave just enough info about what happens to them down the line. I thought it was funny, touching, and well done.

I am so glad to see this show go...I think the whole vanquishing thing has gotten old. I liked the finale though and loved to see what was in store for them in the future.

Yea....another hour of my life free :D

I was sad to see Charmed end. After a rather dismal season, they finally pulled it out for the last episode and we got the "old" Charmed back. Glad it ended on a high note, but just don't understand why they couldn't have done better on the prior episodes this season.

Here's a recap from tv.com. They tend to screw up the names a bit, but overall it's a decent recap. And it leaves out that Piper finally has a little girl and Phoebe has 3 children, not 2 (she's off to the hospital to give birth to #3 in the future montage). Also, Paige's 3 kids are a son and twin girls.

ITA! I'm all about happy endings. I got a little sappy at the end. This season was on fast forward, but I actually enjoyed it more than the season where leo and piper weren't together. I loved how they got all the family characters together, and I'm really glad that Billie realized what was going on in the end.

...and I'm really glad that Billie realized what was going on in the end.Same here! With the 2 previous episodes called "Kill Billie I" & "Kill Billie II" I was sure the sisters would end up killing her. It was nice to see her wake up & realize that the sisters weren't evil after all. :)

I'm just going to miss Charmed so much! I thought the finale was awesome! I absolutely love it when they show what happens in the future, so that we could get some kind of closure and not wonder too much about what happens after the show ends. I really think that they've outdone themselves with this final episode - what a perfect ending to a great series!

Today's repeat on TNT showed the sisters getting ready to face down Billie and her sister. How many more episodes were there after that one to the finale? I missed it, and I was hoping to figure out when to tune in to see it.

Oh, I'm such a geek; I'm sorry to say I know the answers to these questions! I became addicted to the show right towards the end, but was able to catch up on all the ones I had missed through the years on TNT.

TNT runs two episodes in the morning (8 and 9am) and then two episodes in the afternoon (4 and 5pm). Except on Mondays, when they run the regular ones in order and then add in some random ones at 6,7, and 8. SO the ones you saw tonight with Billie are the random add-ons, not part of the regular schedule right now. All the ones in the morning are in consecutive order and all the ones in the afternoon are also in consecutive order, but a season or two later than the morning ones.

Now to show my true geekdom, if you want to see which episodes are airing when, go to http://www.tnt.tv/title/0,,343094,00.html

I did the same thing when I started watching it. It was a while ago, but I'd look up the episode on TNT then if I hadn't seen it and wouldn't be home, I'd tape it!!

I THINK that there were maybe 3 episodes till the end after they started preparing, but I'm not positive.

I've been watching and in some cases even recording an episode that I've never seen before. Like I had never seen the episode where they find out that Leo is a whitelighter. I kept waiting and waiting for that episode. It finally aired in the morning episodes last week.

The morning episodes just started season 2 and I think the afternoon episodes are in season 5. The episodes on Monday evenings (6, 7, and 8pm) are shown in order, but they started on the last season (was that season 8?) So, if you watch from 4 till 8 on Mondays, you get a big gap between the 5 o'clock episode and the 6 o'clock episode. I think next Monday evening will be the series finale episode.
