Labor Buddies!
Here is the list of labor buddies. I tried to match everyone up who put in a request for a specific person as their labor buddy. Please note there are some three-ways per request and also as we ran out of mommies due in the beginning of the month. If you have not signed up yet and wish to be included, you will be added on as a three-way so as not to break up any already established pairs; please reply in red with your due date if you would like to be added to this list.
Everyone feel free to communicate with your labor buddy in the manner in which you feel comfy (email, phone, etc.). The idea is to have a line of contact to update us on your labor status as we will all be anxiously awaiting news on you and your new bundle(s) of joy!
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b5d807b3127cce923d2c21d88700000016108DbtGLls0A
Please let me know if there are any goofs in due dates or in the requested pairings or if I just plain missed someone (gosh, I hope not!).
Thanks,
Leslie

BABY INFO FOR DELIVERY AND AFTER
THINGS I NEEDED RIGHT AWAY AND USED OFTEN:
-Besides the obvious - diapers, diaper products, bottles and wipes
-Boppie Pillow – great for breastfeeding and baby can rest comfortably
-baby washcloths – great for those sponge baths til cord falls off
-baby towels
-hats and booties
-receiving blankets – can never have enough
-burp cloths – BIG HELP
-baby tub – not til cord fell off
-bottle warmer – I used mine a lot for late night feedings
-bibs
-a good nipple/bottle brush – be prepared to wash lots of bottles
-waterproof mattress pads
-Spray & Wash or Shout – formula stains clothing
-baby nail clippers
-mittens – if you don’t want to clip
-digital thermometer
-squeeze top medicine dispenser – still use mine today
-suction bulb for stuffy noses
-saline drops for dry noses
-mylicon gas drops
-vibrating chair – life saver
-very little 0-3 mth clothing – grow before you know it
-diaper genie
-wipes warmer
THINGS I HAD BUT DIDN'T USE TILL LATER
-Nursery – DS slept in bassinet in our room for 6 mths; but used glider for AM feedings
-high chair
-swing
-A great gift I got at my shower, but didn’t really need for months, was a case of gerber baby food from BJ’s. It was such a help to have it handy when I needed it.
2ND LIST: (from another mommy)
**Things that we needed**:
1. Obviously diapers, wipes, desitin, powder etc...
2. Childrens tylenol, gas drops(saved us too!), first aid stuff
3. Onesies/Sleepers
- sleepers are great since they're so easy to change diapers in, no snaps to fuss with at those late night feedings
4. Cloth diapers
- whether you're bfing or bottle feeding we used white cotton cloth diapers instead of the rough burp cloths.
5. Bassinet/Co-sleeper
- we had bassinet next to my side of the bed with ds and it really got hard reaching in so many times for our nightly nursings (easier than being in the crib, but still hard after the 10th night...lol). I swore that the co-sleeper was going to be the first thing on my list for this pregnancy!!!
6. Warm clothing/cool clothing - We live in the Adirondack mountains in NY and you have to bundle your baby up. There's a huge difference between "the christmas story" bundling and keeping your baby warm in such harsh conditions. It get's to be -60 below zero here and there's just no question. lol
7. Dreft/Ivory detergent made a huge difference with our little one. I had accidentally washed a onesie with our clothes using our tide, and he broke out into a horrible rash. Sometimes you can use other detergents, sometimes you can't. Trust me, you'll know...lol
8. Baby bath accessories....whether it's a baby tub or incline or sponge it made things a lot easier on the back! and no worries about baby slipping.
9. Infant carseat/carrier
10. Diaper bag
**Things we needed but not right away**
1. Stroller - trust me, you'll be wanting to hold the little one most of the time when you're out.
2. Toddler carseat - we have an infant/toddler/booster carseat, but if you have one of the travel systems you don't need a bigger one until they hit 28-30lbs
3. High chair
**The little luxury items that really made a difference**
1. Wipes warmer - you'll quickly find (especially those in cooler climates) how cold room temp wipes can be on a newborn's butt in the middle of the night when you're trying to get them back to bed. Using that cold wipe just wrecked the last 45 mins of trying to get them to fall back asleep...lol.
2. Co-Sleeper v. bassinet. Co-sleeper for me!
3. baby washcloths....just because they're so much softer on the skin.
4. Monitor - we were in a small place also, but we took it with us where ever we went (grandma's , friends) so that if they took a nap we weren't constantly hovering over the little one, worried. Now we need one with our new place
5. baby swings.......ah sometimes can give you that 3 minute break you so desperately need...lol
6. Carriers - really do help in freeing up those hands, great for around the house and when grocery shopping...lol
**Things we never used**
1. Sterilizer
2. Diaper Genie/Dekor
3. Changing table- ended up using beds, couches, cribs, etc...
4. Shoes - hard soles - it actually can hurt the proper growth and developement if worn too early. They say hard soles when they're starting walk...until then they don't need the support.
5. rocker
6. Mobile

Exercise Ball Exercises
These are the exercises I did on the big body ball that the medical staff at the hospital said prevented me from tearing and helped me deliver “so easily”:
Pelvic Tilts
- Sit on center of ball with good posture, natural spine, legs wide, feet directly below knees
- Tilt your pelvis up, causing your lower back to curl just a little
- While doing this tilt, squeeze like you are doing a Kegel
- release back down into neutral
- Do about 12 at a time, 3x a day
Pelvic Clocks
- Sit on center of ball with good posture, natural spine, legs wide, feet directly below knees
- Rotate your hips clockwise in small circles in one direction, without moving your upper body
- Keep the movement smooth & steady, about 20 reps then do the other side
- Rest
- Repeat 3x a day
Elevators
- Sit at the edge of an exercise bench or similar seat where your knees are about hip-height when seated
- Put the ball between your knees, keep it steady with your hand
- Squeeze the ball between your thighs by bringing your knees together slowly
- While fully squeeed, tighten your vaginal wall like an elevator:from the bottom up, then release it top down
- Release, then repeat about 12 reps 3x a day

Okay, I think that should do us. I'm going to open the thread now. Mind you it is still a huge mess as the code got all screwed up in the WC "upgrade" so everything has to be edited. I started to edit as I went, but there's a lot to do, so it will have to be done later. And, obviously all of the belly shots and u/s pics still need to be added as well. Anyway! Feel free to start posting now and we'll work out all of the kinks as we go.
I think it's also time to take on another co-threadmistress. Any volunteers?
As always, please post updates in red.
Happy posting!:D

Also, Leslie, thank you so much for getting this thread up and running...YOU ROCK!

YAY! Leslie, thanks so much for getting everything started up over here. It will be nice to get back to normal, especially since things are getting so close for us!
Wonder how Sonya and Carla are doing today? Hope those babies are still locked up tight!
Leslie! Love the outfit and the pj's! I think that dress will be perfect for a wedding. I especially love the shoes...super comfy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had a great weekend. I got my hospital bag packed. My Mom and I went shopping yesterday and I picked up a couple pairs of comfy pants and shirts. I'm using them as PJ's, I can't stand nightgowns. I got a light long sleeved shirt for the hospital but I doubt i'll wear anything by the gown. At least I'll have something if I want.
We had the murals painted on the boys walls this weekend. I just love how they turned out. I'm attempting to post pictures. Lets see if they work!
Melissa The murals are beautiful! Who did them? I also hate nightgowns, I seem to always get tangled up in them. :rolleyes:
I had a great weekend too. We decided Scotty needed to sleep later into the morning since he has always been an early riser. He is normally up by 5:50am... :eek: ...so we put a dark blanket over his blinds in the windows and wholy crap he is sleeping almost an hour later every day...YAY! I still can't seem to sleep any later but at least I can take my time getting out of bed. I am going to go buy one of those dark pull down shade things to hide up behind his blinds and pull down for sleeping time.
I had some really light bright red spotting on Sat. Nothing big and didn't last long. We were going to call the dr. if it continued but it went away. I remember having this with Scotty but it was closer to the end of my pregnancy. I think I just over did it because once I got off my feet and did absolutely nothing it stopped.
Has anyone been to Motherhood lately to look at nursing bras?
Hey, ladies!! I am officially home 'til after this baby is born!!!! After our move this weekend (thank GOD that's over), R and I decided that I was trying to do entirely too much this late in pregnancy. So, being the wonderful, fantastic, loving husband that he is, he talked me into quitting. ;) I did feel terrible not giving a notice, but it was a temporary job - not a long-term thing, we all knew I was quitting, we all knew I was going to be a SAHM. It just came sooner than expected. SO! Now it will be easier for me to keep up with all of you! :D
Melissa I love the murals!! They look awesome!!
And speaking of nurseries, I will have pictures soon! We already got Peanut's room painted and his crib set up! Less than 4 weeks 'til full term!!! WOW!!!!!
Oh - Leslie I have an update - my appointment is tomorrow, 6/28, instead of 6/29. (Sorry - don't know how to post in red yet! :p )
Hi Tracy!
My good friend's sister is a teacher and budding artist and she came over with her computer and projector and whipped them up. It was really that easy for her. I think she did Evan's room from start to finish in 2 hours. Drew's room took her a little longer. I'm really happy with how they turned out.
Great news on getting Scotty to sleep later. Its so amazing that something as minor as darkening the room will make so much of a difference. We had a similar issues with Drew recently, he was getting up a couple of times a night and very early in the morning. Of course he would sleep fine if we brought him to bed with us. I decided that I wasn't going to give in to him anymore and it just turns out that he's a restless sleeper....that sleeps until 8:30 if left alone!
Lora Congrats on getting settled into the house AND quitting your job. Now you can take it easy! I'm sure its a huge load off your mind to have the move out of your way. Good for you and R!
Welcome girls! I just hope we get everyone over here!:)
Lora, it's all the same as the old WC. [color=red]words blah, blah, blah words[/*color] (take out the *) or you can click on the color menu at the top of the reply screen, choose your color, and then type what you want to say and hit enter. Viola!:D I love this place!!! Awesome news about no more work. I am extremely jealous!!!! R rocks!:D I was just thinkng today-34w=6 more weeks of pregnancy=4 more weeks of work (hopefully my dr will agree).
Melissa, those murals are too die for!!! I am so in love with that giraffe!:D
Michelle, the outfit and the pj's are from JCPenney! I just happened to get their spring maternity catalog in the mail last week-very timely since I have not found one dress or skirt anywhere that I liked for that wedding! The sale ends July 5th. The PJ's are $26. That was the only set they had that was for nursing. They had gowns, too, but I'm not a nightgown person either.
Tracy, that is so funny about the blanket over the window! I used to do the same thing in my condo until we put up a shade behind the blinds. One hour of sleep longer has got to make a big difference for a little boy!:D
Hi Everyone! Glad I found you over here. Loving this site much more than the "new and improved" WC!
Melissa - Those murals are amazing! You must be so pleased!
Leslie - That outfit is perfect for a wedding.
Lora - So happy that move is behind you! Phew!
tracer - Take care of yourself. Hope the spotting has stopped by now...
As for me, things are good! I spent most of the weekend at my parents in the pool. Sarah, I have had the same problem with posting pics from MSN. I don't know why they won't work from there, but I've had to switch to shutterfly in the meantime. Anyway, I'm so glad to see you over here. I hope everyone makes it! Good news on being done with Noah's room. Don't you feel so relieved that you can now stress out about something else? :p
Also, just so everyone knows, there is a 6 picture limit here. It was 3, but they changed it to 6 (which is why we have 15 open spots for belly shots and u/s pics :p ).
Lori, I'm so glad you made it, too!:D Spending the weekend in the pool sounds heavenly!!!
Question - are they going to add journals over here?? That is my only complaint so far.
tracer
06-27-2005, 08:41 AM
I forgot to post this...pregnant mind of mine!
I have a dr. appt tomorrow. We are going to talk about a lot of important things. My dr. will be on vacation for my 36 week appt where they begin to check down there. My dr. wanted to strip my membranes at 36 weeks. She wants to do this because she knows baby is big and Scotty was late. So she is going to do everything to get me going that she can do. Well the dr. that I will be seeing at 36 weeks is a little more reserved I guess is the word and will NOT under any circumstances strip anyones membranes until 37 weeks. So now the plan my dr and I had is sort of out the window. Anyhow, I will get some answers tomorrow. I am also getting paperwork to have another big ultrasound done to get a fetal weight. My dr. wants to induce at 39 weeks if I am favorable and if baby is still really big. I do NOT want to be induced again and I really want to go on my own. Fingers crossed I will go on my own and before 40 weeks. Anyhow, I can not wait until tomorrow to get answers and a more definite plan.
Lora Yay for you, I remember going off 4 weeks before Scotty was born and I felt so relieved and like a new women. Thats awesome no more work!
LeslieR
06-27-2005, 08:42 AM
Question - are they going to add journals over here?? That is my only complaint so far.
Yep, it's in the plans. I think they're trying to work all the kinks out and what not first and then add more forums as needed. I can't remember where I read about journals coming soon-maybe on the Forum Suggestions board or the Board & Forum Questions board. From what I read, I think they're just going to have one general journals board instead of separate ones for parenting, family planning, wedding, etc.
Do you guys think you will journal here? I haven't decided yet. I thought I was going to just keep my LJ journal. I'm definitely ditching the one at WC, though. First I have to save tht sucker to my hard drive which is going to be a huge PITA. :mad:
LILRTL
06-27-2005, 08:50 AM
Ohhhhh - I don't know about journaling here if it is all going to be jumbled together. I like the separate-ness of WC. Maybe my LJ is the way to go. Who knows?!
I am just FULL of questions - sorry - how do we make sigs? Can we do tickers? Anything? And I need an avatar. Hmph.
LeslieR
06-27-2005, 08:58 AM
Looks like you got the avatar down pat! The jury is still out on picture sigs and tickers. A lot of people are saying they don't want them because the boards look more 'clean' without. I think I read the decision is going to be made once all of the moderators are put into place.
Leslie - That is such a cute outfit that you posted for the wedding. You're going to look great.
Melissa - Those are really cool murals. I want to get ours done, but I'm thinking that it isn't going to happen any time soon :(
Sarah, I can only see one of those pictures. You may have to use Photobucket or shutterfly over here. I wonder if anyone knows. I like the one that I can see. I'm sure everything looks great.
I have my next doctor's appointment on Thursday. It is just another opportunity to meet with another doctor in my practice. I'm not expecting anything from this appointment, but the one after that is when they start doing the internals - fun! (kidding). We had our second (of 2) childbirthing class this weekend. It was my first opportunity to see the rooms. They look really nice. It was probably my favorite part of the whole class. One of the women in the class gave birth on Friday night so she missed the last class. They said she was 6 weeks early, but the baby was 6lbs 1oz. That sounds like an awfully big preemie. She was in the NICU, but hopefully won't have to stay long. She came and visited us in her robe. She looked tired, but happy to have the whole ordeal over with.
We got the family mobile on Friday. We bought a Volvo V70 T5. It is their turbo wagon. We had to get the fast one (rolleyes) for "dad" to tool around in. I think Jack likes the car more than I do. I think I'm going to have to fight him to drive it. In fact, he's already driven it more than I have. It is a nice car, but I did mourn the loss of my cute 2-door coupe. It's the end of an era. :)
Janet, yay, you made it!!!:D Volvo wagons are soooo nice! For some reason, I can't see me ever driving a mini-van, but I think I could totally do the wagon thing. Supposedly I'm going to start driving Sal's Explorer once Luke is here, but I just don't see it. I hate being that high up and prefer my little car closer to the ground. lol
6lbs sounds like a big preemie to me, too!
Oooh, hiphop! Congrats on the new car!! It sounds like a change for you, but at least your DH is digging it, haha.
ITA with ya Lora - I miss the tickers! I love seeing how close we are getting and I know some of ya'll are 2 or so weeks ahead of me, it psychs me up to see us getting into 35 and 36 weeks now!
Oh- I posted the nursery pics and my 32 week bellyshot in my LJ just in case anyone wanted to see them! That is so weird it let only *1* MSN picture show up. I'll figure this out sooner or later! :p
Leslie, The Knowledge Queen! ;) I have a question. Is there a way to get all of our old posts from the 3 WC August threads we had? Or did those threads disappear? I am desperate to find them and copy/paste parts of them into Word or something...it's so sad to lose them!
Leslie Thanks for getting the thread up!
Melissa I *love* your murals! They turned out awesome. Can you send your friends sister to come do some for me?? LOL They would be perfect in our room. LOL
Tracy Take it easy! Im glad your spotting went away - holy cripe, that would have scared the beejebers out of me. Feet up and rest!
Stripping membrane at 36 sounds early to me, but then again, I can't believe were actually approaching that time.
Lora Congrats on quitting! It must be totally exciting to be able to work on the nursery and the house full time now. :)
Sarah I can only see one picture, but its adorable! I love the airplane and post cards. Congrats on being basically done with it!
Lora your pool time sounds like heaven! Good luck on your appointment.
Signatures I like it without siggy pictures. I didn't at first, but with the avitars, I don't feel they are needed. Siggys get annoying when your trying to read through and have a butt-load of pictures at the end of everyones posts. Im starting to learn people by their avitars instead. I still miss my counter, but I can totally live without it.
pictures Im sooo glad they upped the limit of pictures to 6!
Journals I want to delete mine from the WC, but I want to move them/save them somehow. Not sure how. Printing would be awful given the new format. I may move my journal to LJ. Having it out in the open, I find myself holding back what I would write - thinking instead of how people might respond.
Great news about the new car. We had a similar experience when I sold my beautiful VW Jetta and bought an SUV Mama mobile. I mourned that car for a while.
Sarah, and Tina, Too funny-I just went and saved my FP journal to my hard drive and it was very easy. I thought you had to save each page, but, nope, it saved the whole thing! If our old journals are still there (the links no longer work because of the "upgrade"), you can just open them up on the first page, go to File at the top of your browser, choose Save As..., and make sure the Save As Type... says Web Page. That should do it.
That sounds HUGE for a preemie! Preemie clothes are usually 3-7lbs. (0-3month starts at like 8lbs) But there is preemie, and then there is low-birthweight babies.
When I did that, it saved all the image files from the first couple of pages into a new folder, and only saved the first page of the journal (as it appears in the new WC format). If I click on next page - it takes me to a the actual WC site.
I tried saving it as a "Web Page, complete", "Web Page, single file", and "Web Page, HTML only", and as a "Text File". None of them were any different!
Hello everyone! Nice to see everything back up and running! I like the new site!
Had an eventful couple of days. My doctor pulled me from work last Thurs. and Fri. due to stress. I couldn't stop crying Wed. night and it continued into Thurs. They said I'm not depressed, just overwhelmed with the situation at work. My bosses seem good about it. Although the one asked if I was still coming in Thursday to finish something. :rolleyes: Hello? Did you not understand the doctor's note? But today they are both good about it. I explained that I am feeling guilty and responsible for the time crunch we are now in to hire someone, but they both told me it's not my fault and they will manage. (the girl we hired to help cover my leave quit. The new girl can't start til 7/18, so I have approximately 1 month to train her on $70 million in client assets. And she's a little light on the computer knowledge. *sigh* deep breaths)
But, I had a great time off! I think I will be a SAHM for a while, just to recoup and get my bearings back. I haven't realized just how much stress work has caused me in the last year or two. And, DH sold his Mustang yesterday!!! Now we can really afford for me to stay home!! We also made $2500 or so in profit, so that will add to our cushion account while I'm home. I think I'll probably work somewhere part time eventually, but not right away.
Finally, I had my first shower yesterday! It was fun, but hard. I wasn't real excited because I've been so stressed out that I kept forgetting about it! :o It kind of helped sink in that we're having a baby. (speaking of, she is kicking up a storm! She was frank breech two weeks ago, and I think she's repositioning. which, while good, is still painful for mommy!)
The only bad thing is we got a lot of clothes and blankets that we didn't want. I'm not a Pooh person, and that's all we got. Grrr. DH said after, "we told everyone we were doing Dr. Seuss. What's with all the Pooh stuff?" And we now have 12 blankets! So, we're going to try to return whatever we can. MIL and FIL gave us a digital camera! So, once I figure out how, I'll try to post a pic of our nursery!
Okay, that's it for me. I missed you guys!
On my way back from lunch I came across several people that made similar comments to me...
...Wow, you don't have much longer, do you?
...It must be any day now.
...You're not going to make it much longer.
...Don't have that baby in the elevator while i'm in there with you.
Funny...HA HA...LOL...ROTFLMAO
UGH! Why do people insist on saying things? From their prospective, its said in jest and lighthearted. But, to this woman with swollen feet, itchy stretch marks, sore back and pelvis, who isn't sleeping well and who is racing to the bathroom and hoping I can hold it the whole way there, ITS NOT A JOKING MATTER.
Oh, I say, BTW...I have 6 weeks left. 6 weeks left does not equate to "any day now" HA HA. Nor does it mean my baby is just going to plop out on the floor of the elevator. JEEZ!
I'm losing my sense of humor by the minute, I get that. But 6 weeks is a long long time in the life of a pregnant woman. Idle comments only help make it longer.
Someone tell me i'm not losing my mind. Am I just being hyper-sensitive?
Previously on WC, there was an option to save/print your journal in one step. There was a link in tiny print to change it to a printable form, and then your entire journal would be all viewed on one looong page, with a teeny scroll bar. I used this a couple years ago when I was meeting a former WCer because I was going to be in her area, but although we were online friends, I had never read her journal. I used the WC to do the print-in-one-step, 3 hole punched it and put it in a binder, and then I read her journal while I was on the flight. It was the perfect airline reading, since I could be interrupted between posts, and lots of pictures, pages turned fast. After I landed and hung out with her, I gave her the binder to keep.
At first glance, I didn't see that option on the new boards.
Anyone thinking about the Group B Strep test yet? I have my test this Friday, and I read a natural board this morning saying that eating yogurt, garlic pills, pro-biotics, etc., can help with getting a negative test. I'd rather not be positive and take antibiotics in labor if I can help it, so maybe I might give it a try. They also said reduce sugar, but oops. I read it while I was eating a bowl of Reese's Crunch - then there was my shower last weekend, lots of cake. Tonight is a childbirth class, and people bring dessert to that, and tomorrow night I'm seeing people from church, and people are bringing dessert, and I can't refuse.
Melissa - nope you're not super sensitive or crazy - I hate those comments people think are the cute thing to say to the pregnant woman! SO NOT. :D I hate comments in general, like "Get your sleep now while you can" - even if it's true. Something about not wanting other people's opinions or thinking they assume me to be as naive as all get out, just because it's my first...! I think by the time we ARE due "any day now" we will be at the point of decking whoever says anything!!
As far as the Group B Strep. I didn't do anything last time to try to pass it. I did anyway. Thanks for the tips. I *think* I have some time before mine to get myself in order. Good ideas!
Yea! I got my e-mail! No longer a lurker. And this one even let me post a thread in the welcome area. I could never get the WC to let me start a thread. I like this one. :)
We had our garage sale this weekend. We didn't do well but it was pretty fun.
There is one really good thing if journals are all in one place, no one has to worry about having it in the wrong place. Although I do think about doing an LJ that my family can't see since we get along great if no one does anything to upset my mom.
I am hoping Ben stays put. He was pushing down last night when I was trying to get some sleep. It is kind of scary. But i got to feel his feet and legs shoved up against me, wow is that weird! Right now I almost have a point by my belly button from his backside.
michael'sbride You aren't lucky enough to lose your mind without the rest of us. I have heard some of those comments, but I think it is good that people have all realized I am pg, and not just fat. And I think it is funny when friends tease me about the pg waddle when I am tired and Ben shifts down really low.
I am soooo with you on this one! ugh! Just because this is my first child does not mean I don't have an idea of what I'm in for. Not that you can really know until you experience it, *but* I'm not walking around thinking that my life isn't going to change at all just because I'm having a baby! :rolleyes: And if my MIL tells me one more time to not keep the house quiet while the baby is sleeping, I'm going to lose it! Holy cow - I had a hard time finding this!! :) I linked over, originally, from WC, and then couldn't get logged in...
Anyway - looks like we made it over here!! Leslie The thread looks fantastic!!! You've done such a terrific job!! Thank you for all your hard work! :D I'll have to play around some to try to figure out how everything works. I tried to get an avatar set up yesterday, but didn't have time to figure it out. Hints anyone??
Babe and I made it through the weekend! Actually, we have made it to week 34 - a milestone I seriously doubted we'd get to! I'm excited that we've made it this far - it really is so much better for this little girl to be holding out. I had lots and lots of contractions all weekend, a mixture of both BH and real ones. I had two episodes on Friday and Saturday where I was fairly certain we were heading back to the hospital, but both times, contractions finally subsided and things calmed back down. The almost constant BH have been really exhausting, though, and I'm finding that I'm very very tired and irritable by eveing. I'm anxious for my dr. appointment on Wednesday - I'm curious to see if he checks me, as I won't see him again for two weeks. We will be talking about what I need to do should something happen while he's gone. I'm hoping he might even have me come in and see another doctor in the practice, just because it would be a nice chance to see someone else.
We got lots of things done around the house this weekend, and I'm feeling slightly motivated today! :) Will installed a ceiling fan in our bedroom and its dreamy!! I've been soooo hot lately, and I hate having an occilating fan going, so the ceiling fan is a wonderful compromise! He also fixed his truck and installed Tallie's swings, while I got 1/2 the closet doors for the nursery painted. Actually, I just put the last coat on the other 1/2, so I should be able to get those put in today. I'm putting together a plan so we'll have the nursery complete by the end of this weekend, and I think that will make a huge difference in my mental state.
Other then that, I'm excited to see everyone over here!! I'm anxious to play around a bit, and figure out stuff here - I really like the new site! And, its fun to see everyone who's making the move here, too.
Leslie Where did you find those pjs?? They are exactly what I've been looking for - I really need to get something that actually fits anymore, and those are super cute!
Melissa The murals are beautiful!!! What a talented friend you have! I love the themes in both rooms! :) And no, I'd say you aren't loosing your mind! Sense of humor, maybe, but then again - anyone in your shoes (so, all of us) completely understand!!! These last few weeks are just plain bruttal, and people need to learn to keep their comments to themselves! I've been getting the "aren't you ready to pop any day now" comments for a good month now, and am so glad to be done with work, so I don't have to hear them every.damn.day!!!
Lora I'm glad to hear you are done with work! It must be a relief to be done with that part of your stressful life, and it will give you more time to get settled into your new home! How is the unpacking??
Sarah Again, your nursery is gorgeous!! That plane is wonderful, and will fit your theme so well! I need to swing by your LJ to check out your other pictures! From your avatar, it looks like you've popped in the last week or two?! ;)
[b]Tina[/]b How are you hanging in there?? Has it been hot over there, too? We are finally getting rain today (which means you probbaly had it yesterday or the day before), and it feels so nice to have things cooling down! I was thinking about you a bunch this weekend, so was wondering if your boys were behaving themselves and baking a bit longer?! I didn't realize that your anniversary was on the 4th - my sister got married on the 6th, and I always thought the 4th would have been such a fun anniversary date!
Well, I'm sure I've missed people - sorry! But, I'm starving at the moment, and must find something to eat for lunch!! Will be back later - I'm loving this new site!!!
Hello Ladies! I found my way over here. Man talk about crazy I feel like I am entirely out of the loop with you guys. I was not getting updates from WC :confused: and have been swamped here at the office. Is anyone else having a ton of work piled on them this last month. It totally sucks. I cannot wait to have it off.
Well this weekend was our couples shower for family in SoCal. We ended up flying down on Friday. My flight was at 6:15 :eek: YEAH EXACTLY! I was up at 3:00 - good thing that is my "monster is throwing a party - wake up mom" time so I just got up, but I was SOOO tired. DH flew down later and we met up at the shower. I spent the day with my dad and nephew (who does NOT stop talking!!! At one point I asked him, "Zack do you ever NOT talk" he said, "No I pretty much talk all the time" The kid is 5!!) It was great to spend time with him as I am usually with his little sister because she is just the spitting image of me, and about as girly to boot so we always play makeup. Glad to know I can hang with the boys too. Well I bought this dress for the shower (the outfit I ordered was AWFUL and being returned ASAP!)
http://store1.yimg.com/I/duematernity_1847_4434020
Now look at that picture - Look at her ankles - Think she is pregnant? Not Swollen!?!? How the hell does that happen??????
Well Saturday was our shower. It was nice. My MIL thru it...the only downside is she made me wear this AWFUL corsage. She always does this and she does it to be nice, but I hate the things (of course I smile and wear it) but they totally itch me, and I hate to draw attention to myself. The shower was mostly family with a few friends. We got a TON of clothes...all super tiny. The thing that stinks is we had to put it all in my parents van to bring up this weekend because we were flying home and did not have the room. Why does this suck - well I cannot really remember what we got. It is written down, but still. I know we now have a ton of very small baby clothes and need bigger ones. We got a few giftcards which will help with the big purchases we still need to make - playpen/bassinet combo and high chair...I know there are more...but I am so bad at this I don't know what is good to get or not. I mean no matter how many "must have" lists I read I still feel lost.
After the shower, DH had our friend take some preggo pictures. GOOD GOD I AM A FAT COW! I am sorry I may sound harsh, but man I look at these pictures and just want to break down in tears. One the guy did from an upward angle...now with a pregnant woman - THAT IS JUST WRONG!!! WRONG I TELL YOU!!! He does mostly nature photography...I bet flowers never were this big of a pain!
We flew home at 9:30 on Saturday and had an uneventful Sunday. DH FINALLY moved the desk (well the impromptu one that will remain until there is cash for the one I want) and computer and I worked on setting everything up. We are having to set up his business and quickbooks, and that is a chore!
So that was the weekend...nice to see family, and a shower to boot.
We have a doctor appointment on Wednesday. I need to ask the doc about my numb thigh and the SHOOTING pain on the side of my heel whenever I try to bend down. I cannot even bend over now it is too painful :(
I am already getting tired of this, why do I want to think of being two weeks late? :rolleyes:
This was the cutest idea. All the guest signed the mat around this picture. I blocked out the last name (of course). The name and date are stickers that I can add in the date when Rachel is born (or change to July if she comes early).
Hey girls...trying this out. It seems so much more normal than WC now.
Ahh it all looks familiar...colors, smilies!! I'm happy again :D
Thank you so much to Leslie for setting this up!
BTW... I changed my name from gardenbride to gardenmommy since I haven't been a bride in almost 3 years. :rolleyes:
Well after a night of constant contractions (which I deemed were not serious because they were so irregular) I am totally pooped! I have been sleeping like poop! I've also had this tooth ache...I lost a filling a few months back and have been terrified to go to the dentist because of all the horror stories I have heard about going to the dentist while PG...Anyone gone to the dentist recently for more than a cleaning?? I'm hoping I can hold out until after delivery to go, but it's not like I'm gonna go 2 days after getting out of the hospotal either! :rolleyes: UGG!
Hope you all had a good weekend...off to catch up with everyone elses posts and check this place out!.
WOOHOO for all of the showers!! How fun!! We have our first on Friday. It will be small, I believe - R's firm is throwing it. We don't have our big one until July 16 - I'm getting so anxious!!! :D
Comments I really haven't been getting many. My family is fascinated with the fact that I *lost* weight while pregnant, so they are telling EVERYONE - which is reducing "big" comments.
However, I have one friend in particular that has a young child - and I am SO. FREAKING. SICK. of getting advice from her. Evidently, in her world, all babies are exactly the same - grow exactly the same - develop exactly the same, etc. She is so definite in her opinions, yet she has been a mother less than a year. Driving me a wee bit crazy! :rolleyes:
Wow, is everyone talkative today, me included, after a week with nothing. I hope I didn't miss anybody(I know I did), atleast until I hit submit and realize that there are another 4 posts.
gardenmommy No dentist here. Good luck. I don't usually go that often anyway. But they do have the stuff at walgreen's and some grocery stores that you can use as a temporary filling. I hope you get sleep soon.
Shellbell516 Wow, it looks like your showers went great. You look really great.
adore_one Aww, come on maybe she was laying down with her feet up until right before the picture or they airbrushed ankles on her. Congrats on the shower. I like that dress. If I have a shower I have a halter dress with built in bra that I plan on wearing so no matter how hot it is I don't feel like running around naked.
Sonya, for the avatars, go to the top of the page where it says 'User CP', then click on 'Edit Avatar' on the right-it will take you to the next page where you have the option of linking to the avatar or uploading from your computer. HTH!
I found the pj's at JCPenney. I got a maternity catalog from them in the mail last week and they were in there. $26 and the sale ends July 5th. Click here (http://www3.jcpenney.com/jcp/Products.aspx?DeptID=597&CatID=13778&CatTyp=DEP&ItemTyp=G&GrpTyp=SIZ&ItemID=0c3353b&ProdSeq=5&Cat=lingerie%26sleep&Dep=&PCat=maternity+speci&PCatID=13458&RefPage=ProductList&Sale=&ProdCount=19&RecPtr=&ShowMenu=&TTYP=&ShopBy=13458). Hmmm...it says they are even cheaper on the web site than it lists in the catalog. Must order today!
Okay, my butt is killing me from sitting in this computer chair all morning. This place is waaaaay to addictive! Who knew a site could be more addictive than WC??? Think I'll go take a shower and check back in later. :)
Just seeing if this works...
I miss the old WC and this sure looks and sounds WAY better than the new WC. :D
Hope everyone has been feeling okay...and crossing those legs til August! I had some weird pubic bone/pelvic pain on Saturday - weird pressure. Of course, instead of calling the dr. or anything I called my mother who goes on to tell me that she had that pain in the 3rd trimester, so I'm not worried - just kind of strange waking up with it. I pulled out my exercise ball (okay, so I made DH get it and pump it up :rolleyes: ) but I have been using that and it has been doing WONDERS for my sore tailbone!
Michelle - Look like you racked up GF! I especially love that framed pic of the cartoon shower! Too cute! Glad you made it over! ;)
Kat - I hear stupid stuff like that all the time too. I don't know what it is about pregnant women that make other people volunteer all this so-called "information" but they do....only a few more weeks though! ;)
Stacy -Glad you made it over too! That shower dress is really cute, and you sound like you made out like a bandit also! Sorry about wearing the corsage, I don't like those things either. And sorry about those pains! Hope you get good info from your Doc.
GardenMommy - Nice new name! And welcome over. I've really been meaning to check out info on BHC, your contarctions made me think of that. I want to go to the dentist too, but I actually don't think they'll even SEE you during the last tri. :( That's whay my GF told me they said when she went(she delivered in April). Sorry about your toothache, that sucks!!
Baby's room is getting closer to being done. We just have to get the rug cleaned and hang some pictures. And wash his clothes, etc.
Dentist
I have a dentist appointment next month. They (the dentist) knew I was due in August they did not seem too concerned. I went during my first tri. The dentist said anything with novacain (sp?) should be avoided. I have to have a bridge removed and an implant put in because my tooth behind the bridge is cracked. Yeah I have not been able to eat on that side the whole pregnancy - isn't that lovely!!!
I got my exercise ball at Wal Mart or Target of something like that...it comes with a bunch of exercises to do (for non-PG people ;) )...my Prenatal class teacher gave us a list of things to do/practice on a ball since they use birthing balls at the hospital. My balance has gotten ridiculously awful, so I have just been sitting on it while watching tv or whatever and rolling from front to back and side to side and in circles (it feels like it is massaging my tailbone and pubic bone) which has helped me a lot. And besides...I can get off that ball much easier than doin' the ol' HEAVE HO to get my butt off the couch at this point! ha ha! :p
I found out that the hospital I will be delivering at has birthing balls and rocking chairs. I hope that helps with labor pain.
Does the ball help with pain? I was wondering if it would help with a sore tailbone, and maybe even sore back since sitting on it is supposed to help with posture and strengthening back muscles.
"I'm losing my sense of humor by the minute, I get that. But 6 weeks is a long long time in the life of a pregnant woman. Idle comments only help make it longer"
I totally hear you on this. I get so many "good grief when are you due" comments? I know they all expect me to say I'm due any minute, but then I heard a comment in the elevator the other day that I looked so tiny. :rolleyes: I guess everyone is comparing my size to theirs. Not helpful.
I cannot keep up with everyone, but I'll give it a shot:
shellbell516 - Looks like you had a great shower. I hope you got a lot of stuff that you needed.
GardenMommy - I've been having a bunch of BHC's too. Forget about drinking a ton of water. It doesn't seem to help me. The only thing that helps me is laying down. Not really easy at work so I just end up being really exhausted by the end of the day. Hang in there.
Ellyn - I totally need to get one of those exercise balls. They had them at my birthing class this weekend, and I ended up monopolizing it for the entire class. I loved sitting on that thing.
Adore_one - Forget about the non-swollen ankles, I would love to have skinny little arms and legs like she does. I'm convinced they just put a big belly on a skinny little model. At least, that is what I tell myself to make myself feel better :)
Kat WHen I was in labor with Scotty I used an exercise ball. The hospital had a few for patients to use so I didn't have to have one. I had horrible back pain and just sitting with my legs spread on each side of the ball helped to take the pain away. I also sat backwards on a small chair and leaned forward which helped. Also they had me doing hip circles on the ball to help bring him down lower and faster. I liked it even though I felt like I was going to fall off. I sat right next to the bed and held on so I didn't fall on my butt in a nice hospital gown!
Yeah welcome welcome all August mommies - it's great to see us all back together! What a rollercoaster eh? Haha, I wonder how many posters the WC has been reduced to with their sudden software switch??
Exercise Ball - I totally stole my husband's "ab" workout ball and now annoy him on purpose by referring to it as my "birthing ball" (how our doula put it in the childbirth class we went to)! He hates it when I do that! It is sooo comfy to sit on and lean against and bounce on, it relieves all that back pressure. I am fully intending on using this in labor! *crossing fingers*
Trying to escape! The baby is totally trying to stretch out full length and it feels like my sides are about to split today. I physically had to grab whatever he was poking out and help him curl it back in where it belongs! Seriously! I bet it was his butt! OUCHERS. At least today he is definitely active. Yesterday we were on the verge of going to the hospital since we couldn't get him to move AT ALL for the entire morning. Scary stuff, but he got the hiccups and bounced on my bladder a bit after lunch and all was well. :rolleyes:
Michelle - You have got the coolest friends and family! Showers, showers, showers! It looks like you are set and ready to go for little Rachel! :D AWESOME!
Kiley - Yay for your little guy measuring ahead, maybe he will come sooner?! I am hoping for some news like this for my next appointment this week...! (Heeey we are both due on the same date! I am personally hoping Aug 20 is the latest he will come! I bet I will go 2 weeks over, though...but am not dwelling on that. Must think positive!)
I wish I could post more SO's but I've got 45 minutes here at work and have lots to do still! I am a bad internet-fiend here on the job lately, I can't help it!
Glad to see we've found a new home! :)
Our camping trip was fun - it rained a LOT, but we made the best of it. The only downside of the trip was the bed - not the best thing for a pregnant woman to sleep on, so I was pretty much in agony every morning when I got up.
We have an appointment tomorrow to see how things are going with the baby, and once we've spoken to the doctor, we're going to decide what to do with the rest of DH's vacation. He's off for two weeks, whether or not we go somewhere, but it would be nice to do something besides stay home!
Grrr.... just stopping in to say how mad I am at my bosses. We had second interviews on Thursday that I missed because I was pulled. They told all of the candidates the exact reason why I wasn't sitting in on this round. Excuse me? Isn't that personal information? And why did the interviewees even need to know? "She's sick today" would have covered it. The reason I found out is because one of them called in and asked me about my "case of the tears".
I was too stunned at the time, but the more I think about it, the madder I am getting. The one boss' father knows, cause he told me twice to "hang in there". I'm sorry, but my little meltdown is not something that I am choosing to share with too many people! Especially because it has nothing to do with the pregnancy, it has everything to do with my bosses overloading me! I plan to address it with them both in the morning. And to find out who else they told. Ugh. Earlier, I was thinking about how great they were, and now I'm back to thinking they are unbelievable. Some of my own family doesn't know! And, now the girl we hired knows this about me. Not how I would choose to start a working relationship. (I think I'm really mad because I rarely cry about anything, and now this is what people are hearing about me.)
I like being called by my first name. I only added the 'R' at WC because there was already a 'Leslie'. I decided to keep it here just so as not to be confusing. A couple years ago I used to go by a user name that started with my maiden name and everyone took to calling me by that, which was fine, but when I got married, it got really confusing. From then on, I realized it was easier to just stick with my first name or some variation of it as a user name. :)
Babe and I made it through the weekend! Actually, we have made it to week 34 - a milestone I seriously doubted we'd get to! I'm excited that we've made it this far - it really is so much better for this little girl to be holding out. I had lots and lots of contractions all weekend, a mixture of both BH and real ones. I had two episodes on Friday and Saturday where I was fairly certain we were heading back to the hospital, but both times, contractions finally subsided and things calmed back down. The almost constant BH have been really exhausting, though, and I'm finding that I'm very very tired and irritable by eveing.
[b]Tina[/]b How are you hanging in there?? Has it been hot over there, too? We are finally getting rain today (which means you probbaly had it yesterday or the day before), and it feels so nice to have things cooling down! I was thinking about you a bunch this weekend, so was wondering if your boys were behaving themselves and baking a bit longer?! I didn't realize that your anniversary was on the 4th - my sister got married on the 6th, and I always thought the 4th would have been such a fun anniversary date!
Congrats on 34 weeks!! Next goal, 36 weeks!
Are you on terb yet? I started it just over a week ago, and the contractions have backed way down. I know whay you mean about them being exhausting. Ask you doc about the terb or something similar.
And yep, boys are doing great. Feel like now that were in the home stretch, things are going smoothly. My friend came over for dinner last night, and she ran into my family on Saturday. They told her I was being rediculous and dramatic, I didnt need to be on bedrest. I have to ask - when has anyone in my family seen me? Called me? I guess they must have thought I wasn't really in the hospital, but out on a cruise or something.
Nurseries it looks like we will finally be able to move forward on Aidan's moulding is going up this week (keep fingers crossed DH is doing it) and I just got a call that our furniture will be in on Wed, all except for the glider which will hopefully be in, in a few weeks! Our shower is on July 16th and hopefully I can wash and purchase everything I need to before our little guy gets here!
Had a pretty uneventful weekend. did some gardening, house cleaning, registered for a breastfeeding class. I finished cleaning out my classroom at work and am feeling so much more relaxed I think I will enjoy being a SAHM. Well I will be doing some mobile notary work just for some extra spending money but other than a few hours a week I will be able to spend time with my baby!
DH is thinking about putting in for Detective and after this weekends officer shooting I really hope he does. The idea of him spending most of his time in an office rather than on the street is so much more comforting. That and the fact that he would have weekends off would be fabulous!!!
I started making lists of stuff I need to get done in hopes that I be a little more productive. I feel like this pregnancy thing has really messed with the anal planner in me. Anyone else feel like they are going in circles and not really going anywhere?
Ohh how could I forget I have my 3D u/s on wednesday I can't wait to see him again! My Dr seems to be pretty vague on giving me info like how much he weighs, his position and things like that so I am hoping that I will be able to find out on Wed.
my sister took this picture of my belly and I thought it was pretty cool just had to share I hope yall don't mind. (the little hole on my belly is where my ring used to be)
Does anybody have great plans for the Fourth of July? We are going to spend the weekend with my parents.
Are our families related? It sounds so much like my family. If they are I am very sorry. Did you enjoy the cruise :p ?
The Fourth of July is our 2nd anniversary, no idea what we will do. Stay home, thats for sure. DH wants to set off fireworks - personally I hate them. I swear If Im outdoors when fireworks are going off, there will be some sort of accident and one will buzz my way and catch me on fire. I could be on the porch and still something happens.
And yeah, the "cruise" was great. I laid in bed all day, had people run to my side to get me whatever I wanted whenever I just rang a bell, and I had a maid and a chef.
I confronted my brothers wife today, and she didn't have much to say...she sounded sort of stunned that I heard what she said. Tell my best friend something like that and NOT expect me to hear?? Yeah, right.
So she said she just thought I could get up and do more things. I told her that I already push the *doctors orders*; however since bedrest seems to be working and Im further along than they ever thought I would be...I think I will continue to do what Im told.
Michelle Have you had further ultrasounds? I *thought* it was hard for doctors to guess on the size of the baby and position without an ultrasound.
I love your belly picture! Beautiful!
Tina\ I just read your post about your family saying you were being ridiculous and dramatic - guess we're in the same boat, aren't we! Don't you know, my whole situation is really overblown - it just means I'm going to have an easier labor? :mad:
Does nobody in your family have any experience with twins.....I mean, nobody in my family or close circle of friends have ever had twins, but I wouldn't question the fact that a twin pregnancy is a completely different ballgame! :(
Happy anniversary to all the upcoming ones!
Tina This is a message from Daniel. He was about 12 on a deck shooting off bottle rockets from a beer bottle. The bottle fell and the bottle rocket went off just after it hit his Mom's leg (or went right between them).
One of our friends almost blew up our car last year, and her FH's truck since she couldn't figure out how to do it.
Glad to hear that you liked your cruise! ;)
QP I am really sorry that your family is so doubting. It's amazing. I'm always irritated when I'm complaining about my piddly little pg problems and everyone gives me the "oh well, it happens" line. I'm pg, hormonal, and need a little sympathy!
And I can so relate (from earlier) about being tired of people's comments - even the nice ones. I'm just tired of strangers asking me questions, or giving me advice. The "get your sleep now" one is going to make me snap any day. I KNOW the baby will make me wake up all through the night, I KNOW everything will change, but I'm not sleeping worth a crap right now, and I'm really cranky, so telling me that is likely to get your hurt! :mad:
I'm glad to see so many of us here. I hope we can get everyone. :)
Just a quick one:
So glad to see that so many ladies are here already! I really hope the rest make it here soon...we're still checking back & forth right? (I know I am just in case)...
Stacey, you look fantastic, not huge AT ALL...btw, my belly is sticking out further on one side too...like she's all balled up over there! I wonder if it's because I sleep on that side sometimes...
Michelle - Very nice belly closeup that your sister took! I still have an innie too, but I wonder everyday when it's gonna go on me...yours looks like it may stay that way for the duration! Can't wait to see pics of this nursery & hear (and see) all about the U/S coming up!
Tracey - thanks SO much for posting all those names...it will definitely help to keep up!
Happy upcoming anniversary to Tina & Erika!! Be careful of those fireworks girls....expecially if you're accident prone! :p
EXERCISE BALL - I'm still waiting for a response from the journaler with the info...I have it saved to my PC and I'm just waiting...sorry ladies! :( Shouldn't be too long though, I know you want to get to using these things!!
BHC - Ladies, I need as many descriptions of BHC that you can give me. I have heard SO many different things from friends/family IRL that I'm just confused. Here's what's going on with me....When I lie down at night(but not just then, it's *most frequently* then) I get a severe tightening in my lower abdomen just about where my hairline is. To match this, I *always* get sharp pains in my lower back on the right side...I mean like PIERCING sharp pains. The tightening is constant for up to about 30 seconds then fades...and I have to catch my breath, or breathe *really* slowly cause it hurts so badly. The BACK pain is so sharp that it's brought me to tears...it happens several quick times...then it's over and just sore/achy. What is this? :confused: Is this BHC?? I usually take a few tylenol & lie down and they go away. Should I be worried? UGH, sorry to ask so many questions, everything has seemed pretty much A-OK so far(with the exception of all my violent puking at the first tri). Like I said, I've been asking friends and family...the most common response is "Oh, BHC feel like REAL contractions, but you're just not actually going into labor." That's great, this is my FIRST pregnancy, I DON'T KNOW WHAT "REAL CONTRACTIONS" FEEL LIKE, HELLOOOOO.:rolleyes:
Ugh, enough bitching out of me.....talk to you ladies soon!
And I have a question to follow along with Kim's. I am having MAJOR PMS-type cramps. They have been going on since last night around 10:30 or so. What the hell is this?!?!?!?!? :confused:
I'm no expert since I haven't had any BH yet, but that sounds like BH to me, Kim. Except, I read they weren't supposed to hurt.:confused:
Lora, I think you should call your dr-I've always been told that contractions feel like the worst menstrual cramps of your life. :eek:
We're going for our tour of the ped's office this morning and then I'm going to get a pedicure. I'll be back later to check in on you two!
Anybody interested in a coupon swap?
We always clip our coupons and I think I have more coupons for baby wash and what not than I will need before Luke arrives! Also, I just got another pack of baby coupons from Target-really good ones like $5 off a monitor and such. Anyone else clip coupons and interested in swapping? Whenever we have coupons that we don't need we can just post what we have and they will be given away on a 1st come 1st serve basis. Personally, I'd rather see if any of you want or need them before I offer them up elsewhere on the board, KWIM? I hope others are interested! :)
Hi Girls!
I'm going to do my best to describe my BHC's and the difference from what I felt of "Real Contrax"...like i've said before, this is just my experience and everyone's body is different.
Kim The tightening your experienceing in your lower belly sounds exactly like BHC's. Mine start with my belly getting very tight and it seems like because of the baby's position he pushes out and to my right side. I can feel him very well with my hand when it happens.
The feeling from the BHC's is more localized in my belly...
I will feel intense pressure on my cervix, bladder or under my ribs. Never all three at once, just different types of pressure based on how he's positioned at that moment. The worst pain I feel is when his head pushes down into my cervix. It brings tears to my eyes. The kind that take my breath away are the ones that are right under my ribs. When I have one I have to stop what i'm doing. If I'm walking I have to slow down, if i'm sitting, I can't get up. If i'm using the potty I have to sit there until its done.
Kim That sharp pain that your feeling sounds like Lina is pressing on a nerve when your belly tightens up. Its *probably* normal and will *probably* lessen if/when she changes positions. If your really worried about it, call your Dr. and ask them.
Real Labor Contractions For me, these started in my lower back and moved to my belly in a shooting like motion. They lasted about 1 minute and came in a distinctive pattern (mine started off at 4 minutes apart). There was a very distinct difference. Like a combination of cramping, tightening, and shooting pain. At first I didn't realize I was having them but at one point it got to where I could no longer sit while having one. I would have to stand up and lean over using something for support.
Lora Feeling menstral type cramps is more like what a real contraction feels like. I would get in touch with your Dr and let them know. They may want to check you for progress at this point.
Thats my experience, maybe Tracy, Carla or Sonya can come in and share their experiences as well.
Leslie I'm totally jealous of your pedi! ;) Hope you have a good tour at the ped office! I REALLY need to get on the ball and find our ped too!! Eek.
Stacy and Michelle Lovely belly shots - you both have perfect baby bellies! Michelle - cute innie! Mine has been trying to go outie on me lately...so weird!
BHC I of course am no expert! But I've gotten what I think are BHs since the early 20-something weeks. The best way I've heard it described is like your stomach balls up and becomes very hard and tight. Only one time (few weeks ago) did I have a knifing pain across my lower abdomen coupled with the tightening, leading to breathlessness and dizziness. I wonder if that was a closer-to-REAL-contraction! My back pain is constant, so I am starting to piece these all together, combine them, and multiply them to figure just how intense labor might feel like. Oh.My.Gosh. :eek:
Tina That made ME mad about your family blowing off your bedrest like that!!! What in the world? It makes you want to go insane on them I'm sure. What is wrong with people? Sorry babe. You'd think they might be more supportive of you during such a time huh?! Happy upcoming anniversary btw! I hear ya on staying in away from the fireworks, who knows what could happen! I don't trust the pyros out that night either, haha.
Erika Glad you made it over here! Happy upcoming anniversary to you as well!!
4th of July I live in a town FULL of DH's family. :rolleyes: So we ALWAYS go over to his grandma's house every year for some cookout where about 50 people we're "related" to show up and I know about 15 of them! It ends up being a boring 4th every year because we just sit over there all night in their backyard eating eating eating. Yeah, fun. This year I told DH I wanted to go out and do something different and we have a group of friends going downtown to a park to watch the big fireworks celebration. I feel up for the adventure, but we'll see! Next year we'll have an almost-1-year-old...whoa.
Michelle I can't wait to see how Aidan's room turns out with the airplanes! It will be so neat! I hope these boys appreciate it all. :D (Yeah right!)
Sonya So glad to see you made it through the weekend! Next stop, 36 weeks - so close!!
Thanks for the info on BHC ladies, I appreciate it. I'm out the door to run errands etc, but will be back on later today. I finally got word on the exercise ball, so without further ado.....
I give kimthebride credit for this, it came *directly* from her journal. I hope it can help someone with an easy labor!!
Exercise Ball Exercises
These are the exercises I did on the big body ball that the medical staff at the hospital said prevented me from tearing and helped me deliver “so easily”:
Pelvic Tilts
- Sit on center of ball with good posture, natural spine, legs wide, feet directly below knees
- Tilt your pelvis up, causing your lower back to curl just a little
- While doing this tilt, squeeze like you are doing a Kegel
- release back down into neutral
- Do about 12 at a time, 3x a day
Pelvic Clocks
- Sit on center of ball with good posture, natural spine, legs wide, feet directly below knees
- Rotate your hips clockwise in small circles in one direction, without moving your upper body
- Keep the movement smooth & steady, about 20 reps then do the other side
- Rest
- Repeat 3x a day
Elevators
- Sit at the edge of an exercise bench or similar seat where your knees are about hip-height when seated
- Put the ball between your knees, keep it steady with your hand
- Squeeze the ball between your thighs by bringing your knees together slowly
- While fully squeeed, tighten your vaginal wall like an elevator:from the bottom up, then release it top down
- Release, then repeat about 12 reps 3x a day
Don't we all love how comfy this is? I hate it when I have pain that I wasn't expecting. I don't know how so many pregnant women manage to look so happy. Ben likes to kick my back which causes back cramps, and when he does that his head grinds down. :eek:
Does anybody have painful, itchy stretch marks? I have one that is really uncomfortable
I almost freaked out last night and called the dr. I was doing a kick count and I was having a hard time getting to ten movements. I wasn't counting his feet shoving my hand over and over. :o I felt so stupid, I would have been so embarrassed if I had called. But I got to feel his feet last night, they are so cute and little! It was so weird that I could really tell what part it was.
Good morning all!! Glad to see we are still getting folks checking in! Its nice that our thread has stayed so active over here!
Here's my $0.02 on BH/Real contractions, but I'm in no way an expert. As Melissa pointed out, everyone is going to be different somewhat, so take this all with a grain of salt. :)
For me, BH are much like how you described them, Kim - a definate tightening of my belly that can change around depending on my position, the baby's position, or the alignment of the stars. ;) They usually last 30-45 seconds, and I often have to breathe through them anymore, but they aren't necessarily terribly painful. If you are noticing a lot of these, keep track of how often they occur. BH should be relatively irregular, and will likely lessen or go away if you change position (get up and walk, lie down to rest, etc.)
Real contractions feel much the same to start with, but for me, quickly turn into painful, menstrual-like pains. The ones I've been having have been pretty intense, where I can't talk anymore, have a hard time focusing, and they last longer then BH. These tend to be more like 60-90 seconds long, though the tightening and pain may be as localized as the BH. The concern with "real" contractions is if they are causing your cervix to thin out or dialate, so mentioning these to your doctor is definately a good idea at this point.
One thing that really surprised me when I was in the hospital last week was to find out that what I thought were BH were actually real ones, because they were so regular. I was having them every 3 minutes, like clockwork, although they were only lasting 30-45 seconds. I think because they lacked intensity, no one was terribly worried, but as I've mentioned, it was very exhausting to have them ALL. DAY!! If I remember from last time, all contraction activity will pick up as we start winding down, and it will likely pick up after you've been very active (walking, cleaning house, etc). I finally realized I was actually in labor (with DD) when my BH didn't go away after several hours, and I could time them fairly regularly. However, with her, they really weren't very painful until after my water broke.
So, how's that for confusing?! :confused: Lora I would most definately mention your activity to your doctor today. It sounds suspicious! ;)
Sarah Glad to see you here!! Sorry to hear you are feeling so crummy lately. I can definately relate!! :) I don't know how I worked up until the day DD was born last time - I feel like I can barely get out of bed these days, too! Hopefully, your MW will have some suggestions to help you feel better as you finish out these last few weeks.
On another topic - I got an email from the site where I ordered those really cute t-shirts for my girls (I'm a big sister/I'm a little sister). They are having some great sales on breast pumps and nursing bras. Just thought I'd throw in the link if anyone wants to check them out. Click on the link and go to "Ameda Breast Pumps" for the sale stuff.
Back later - need to go get some coffee and try to wake up a bit. I think I'm getting sick, so am planning on a very low key day today with Tallie. :)
I'm back! Tour of ped's office went well. Seems very nice. We weren't able to meet any of the dr's, but that's okay. They have a sick waiting room and the lady told us that not everyone abides by it, so if we're there for a well visit and there seems to be a sick kid near us, to just tell the receptionist and they'll put us in an open room. I thought that was cool. Anyway, they have 6 dr's, Sat and Sun hours for sick visits only, someone is always on call, and they have some kind of set up where calls in the middle of the night go to nursers at Connecticut Children's Hospital-so there is always someone to talk to and if the nurse can't help, she'll page the on-call dr. Sounded all great to me. They also have 2 nurse practioners. And one of the nurses is a lactation consultant, which is WONDERFUL news to me. I don't know what more we could ask for and of course I have no medical questions whatsoever because I have no idea what we're in for here, so it all sounded good to me.:p After that I went for my pedicure while Sal took his mom to the chiro. HEAVEN. I am all about the french manicure on my toes now-it lasts so much longer than polish and goes with everything. The lady that did my pedi was pregnant, too! She's due October 1st. I thought that was pretty cool.
Nothing else new. Looking forward to a nice relaxing day here before I go back to yucky work tomorrow. Should be a looooong rest of the week as half the FE's are taking their 4th holiday days tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday-so lots of paging the scrambling to find someone to take service calls. UGH!
Sonya, thanks for the link to that site! Take it easy-being pregnant and sick is no fun at all.
Lora, I'm glad you have an appt today. I think occasional menstrual like cramps are normal, but anything that lasts as long as yours would worry me. Please keep us posted!
Sarah (newmommy), glad you made it over. I'm sorry you're not feeling so hot.:( The middle of July! That's right around the corner!!!
Kim, thanks so much for posting the exercise ball info!
Sorry if I missed anyone! I'm so happy that we've made the transition over here so well. :D
4th of July, not sure what we are doing. Sal is working until 3. I assume we'll go to his parents for a cookout. I love fireworks, but I have yet to see them since I moved here as my husband hates them. :rolleyes:
Good morning ladies! Looks like there is a lot to catch up on, just since yesterday, but I'll have to go back and read it again.
Had my doctor's appointment today to follow up from last week and I have good news to report. Things seem to be holding steady, and I've had no further symptoms of early labor, so she gave us the okay to continue on with the second planned portion of our vacation. We're heading to BC to the mountains (such a beautiful part of our country!) and we'll be camping and fishing. We just had to agree to stay within an hour of Prince George, which is the second largest city in BC, and is home to a major hospital. If something happens, she said, they'd be able to airlift me back here.
Of course, we hope that nothing like that happens, but it's reassuring! DH and I agreed that if I have any weird symptoms, we'll drive to Prince George, have a doctor check it out, and if they say I'm ok and just to take it easy, we'll still pack up and drive back home (but at least we'll be reassured that we can make the 8 hour drive safely). If they say I'm about to have the baby, then we'll just deal with things there. My doctor said they would not want to deliver me there, and that they would almost certainly fly me back to Edmonton, or to Vancouver (but hopefully Edmonton).
This is all worst-case scenario stuff though. She thinks it's just as likely that I'll carry to 39 weeks plus. ;)
Leslie I'll post coupons, too, as I get them.
4th of July Well, this weekend is the big family shower up North. It means that DH and I have to make a 5+ hour car trip. Not looking forward to the drive, but it seems like I'll be o.k. I still plan to try to find the hospitals between our home and there, just in case. Also, we're installing our car seat to take with us, just in case. We'd hate to give birth in some strange town, but it would be worse if we couldn't take the baby with us when we leave because we have no car seat! :D
I'm home from work today. I have a bad cold/allergy thing. I'm exhausted, coughing, and this baby is taking up so much room that I can't really breathe. I let my boss know that July 15th (if I make it that long) will be my last day. They seem pretty cool with it (my boss and the assistant). They've been gleefully discussing hiring a "hot, female" intern to sit at my desk. :rolleyes: Boys.
Hey all...lots to catch up on!
I have just been so bogged down with work and two enormous deadlines...its like these people think I'm gonna die when I go on leave or something...Um, yes, you CAN call me and ask questions while I'm gone!
I actually got really pissed the other day when a co-worker on a particular project told me that our manger wanted me to write an "Exit strategy" for myself of what work people should do if I leave early. I know he is just being precutious, but tell me, is he going to write an exit strategy in case he gets hit by a bus tomorrow? Is he requiring other to write an exit strategy when they go on vacation? It just pissed me off like I'm not communicating well with others and just plan on up and leaving. Give me a break! I can't wait till I can get outta here for good and not have to deal with other peoples crap!
Other than that I've been having crazy BHC's too! Mine always seem to be in my lower abdomen and are really painful but never last more than 30 seconds or so...So many people have told me I should call my dr but I just know that they will tell me to drink water and lie down which isn't gonna happen at work, so I'm just planning on seeing her for our regular appointment on Thursday and talking about it then.
4th of July~ Well I'm just tickled to have a 3 day weekend to look forward to. We have good friends who just bought a new house and invited us over for a BBQ so we will do that and just lay low. I'm also hoping to get the nursery draperies finished. :rolleyes:
Speaking of new houses has anyone heard from August 21~Val lately??
Stacey~ You look adorable...LOVE your dress ;)
Michelle~ Beautiful belly shot! I might have to try one like that...I've been so bad about them!
Tina & Erica~ Happy anniversary on the 4th!
Kim & Lora~ I pretty much echo what everyone else has said as to what BHC feel like but I would say mine feel more like bad menstrual cramps since they are always in my lower abdomen...and they hurt like Hell!
Tina~ So sorry to hear your family is being unreasonable again. Maybe they need to be reminded that you are actually having TWINS for christs sake! I swear some people can be so insensitive. FWIW, I'm so glad your babes are still staying put...you have been doing an amazing job of taking good care of them and yourself!
Kim~ Thanks for the info on the exercize ball. If this can potentially lead to no tearing then I'm ALL over it!
Sarah~ I had a lot of dizziness and nausea yesterday too! Hope you feel better soon!
Leslie~ Glad you had a good visit at the peditricians office. I always feel so stupid interviewing dr's when I don't have a medical problem too...I mean what do you ask? As long as you got good vibes that seems to be all that matters. As far as coupon I don't have a lot but will start to keep the diaper ones and offer them up here...Good idea!
Carla~ So glad to hear thigns are going well and that you can take that vacation to BC. You are right...such a beautiful part of Canada! Enjoy yourself! ;)
Red~ Oh sorry to hear about your allergies...I know what you mean about the breathing thing...I feel like I'm running on half full all the time. Enjoy your day at home and rest!
WOWSER! I just saw that the WC is censoring all references to the URL clevercouples.com . So glad that we decided to move this thread over here. I have no desire to participate in a community that won't allow its users to make its own decisions.
K- Back on topic :D
Fourth of July Plans - Our little sub-division hosts a huge block party every year. This will be the third annual and last year we had over 200 friends and family attend. I just love that I never have to leave home for the 4th. Its so nice to be able to walk home to use your own potty or get a cold drink. Especially this year.. :rolleyes: Last year I had a horrible stomach virus so I missed out on the fireworks and LOBSTER! Not this year, come hell or Florida afternoon rain, I won't miss this one!
Funny story about our party... one of my neighbors is the local NBC morning Weather Guy, a pseudo celebrity in our parts. For grins, his last name is Winter! LOL. But this poor guy comes to the party every year and spends the whole night being asked whether he thinks our party will be rained out. No one ever talks to the guy about normal stuff. He's a good sport to keep coming, thats for sure!
gardenmommy: I thought I'd save you some time and write your exit strategy for you:
"This is my exit strategy:
I plan on getting up, walking over to the door, turning the handle, opening the door, and exiting through the aforementioned door.
Should you have any questions regarding the door, the handle, or my use of the door and handle, please have your questions typed, double-spaced, in memo format, sealed in a brown manila envelope and hand-addressed in black ink only. Bend over, and insert the aforementioned brown manila envelope where the sun doesn't shine (not even on Saturdays)."
Good afternoon ladies!
All this talk about BH and "real" contractions has me totally confused now :confused: I have felt what I thought were BHC (a little more intense than I thought they would be) but definelty not on the level that you ladies are feeling them.
Lately though when I wake up in the morning I do kinda feel like I am having menstral cramps but not intense at all and they usually go away fairly quick.
Okay just took a look at my handy dandy Gift of motherhood that I got from our child birth class and here is what is says about
Prelude to labor
More episodes of BHC
Increased vagianl discharge
Loss of mucous plug
Increased pressure in pelvic floor
two to tree pound weight loss or gain
some nausea and diarrhea
Premenstral symptoms
Baby's activity level may change
Early Labor from the onset of true labor to dilation of 3 centimeters
Mother's reactions
Fully aware of surroundings, interested with what is going on, eager to report symptoms
Thinking contractions are not so bad
Physical changes
Contractions range from 5-15 minutes apart. lasting 25-45 seconds long
they are typically mild, somewhat irregular, but progressively stronger and closer
Contractions may be experienced as an aching or low backache, menstral type cramps, pressure or tightening in the pubic area
amniotic sac may rupture;also a pink mucous vaginal discharge could be evident, commonly known as "show"
Sounds like we are all having a little bit of everything :confused:
Not much going on today DH is still working on putting in new floor boards (moulding)and there is not much that I can do to help him so I think I will follow Leslie's lead and go in for a mani pedi
I must get on the ball and ask about visiting some ped offices, although I don't know how much of a choice I get with kaiser
Kim thanks for posting that info on the excerball!
Carla glad those babies are staying put!!! have fun on your vacation. B and I are looking forward to getting all these mini projects done around the house so that we can take a mini vacation before our little peanut arrives.
4th Of July We are having a bunch of friends over for a BBQ and some pool action :rolleyes: and then we are all heading over to another friends house for fireworks. I'll admit I love them but they scare me to death when it's my DH and his friends doing them! I am all for watching the big community firework shows though. But what can I do DH and his friends love setting off the big ol' fireworks I just stand way back. I wonder how little peanut will do with all the noise?
Coupons I always tell myself that I should be better at this I mean I could save a lot of money but then I cut them out and never use them :rolleyes:
off for my mani pedi check in with you ladies later!
Sarah Glad you made it over. Sorry your not feeling that wonderful and I can't believe you might have your baby so soon. Keep us posted with everything.
Sonya I love that website! I will have to go see if there is anything I think I need.
Lora keep us posted with everything and let us know how the appt goes.
Kim the info on the exercise ball is great. Thanks for getting it.
leslie I would so be up for a coupon swap but I don't cut or keep coupons. I tried it once but I got to overwhelmed and we never used them. I am a less is more person and throw out things we don't need. I keep ones I know I will use, like for diapers and such. I wish I had more time to go through what I get. If I do get some I will post them and send them out to whom ever can use them.
Michelle my subscriptions have transfered over too. I had a problem getting on this morning until all the links were transfered but everything is back to how it was yesterday. Also, I love you belly pic. We are going to do some like that once we get closer to term.
Carla Thats great news about you. I hope it remains the same for a few more weeks! Have a wonderful trip!
Darrien I hope you feel better. I too feel like I can't breath because he is taking up so much room. I hope you get over your cold quickly.
Tina & Erica Happy early anniversary!
BHC I agree with Sonya and Melissa. I actually have been having them at night. We timed them last night just to see and they were exactly 10 minutes apart. My stomach balls up, I cramp over and my whole stomach just hurts. I have period cramps and then my back hurts. They last about 45 second and subside. I start to hold my breath and remember the breathing techniques from last time. Big breath in and 3 'hees' and one 'who' until your lungs are empty and begin again. That helps so much. The only thing is I sometimes forget because the pain is so much.
I also wanted to remind everyone to stock up on heavy, medium and lite maxi pads. Those are things you will want when you get home. :rolleyes:
Hi Aug mom's! (an Oct Mom here)
Hope you don't mind me jumping in to ask a question :) I was told to check the Aug WC thread, but I can't figure out how to do a search! Thought maybe you ladies might like to share your expertise?
I'm going in for my 3 hour GTT (since I failed my 1 hour :( ) and was wondering what I should expect. Also wondering if anyone knew their numbers from the 1 hour GTT to compaire to mine - I was told that 140 and under was good. My number was 155.
If anyone has GD - is living with it a PIA like I think it will be?
Thanks so much!
Stay cool and comfortable! :D
Adoredh I didn't ever take the 3 hour, so I don't know what to tell you about that. But, my 1 hour test came back at 159, which my doc considered high enough to consider me positive. (My older sister has Type 1 diabetes, so I do have a family history, and as he's her doctor as well, he may just be acting in caution...).
The diet has been a bit of a pain to get used to, but I think its more because I was put on bedrest three days after I found out about the diabetes. As you will come to find out, activity is a really important key to controlling your blood sugars, so not being able to use exercise to help off set high sugars was really hard at first. I'm now off of bedrest, and adjusting to the diet, too. In itself, its not that bad. The dietician I worked with wanted me to watch my carbs more then sugars. She gave me a plan to follow - 1 carb for breakfast, 2 for AM and PM snack, and 3 for lunch and dinner. 1 carb = 15 grams of carbs. The hardest part for me was adjusting to different foods - I LOVE my carbs, so have had a hard time letting them go. :) But, I also consider it a great "practice" for when I'm done being preggo and plan to get serious about loosing weight finally. Once you get a handle on "good" foods, I think its a pretty easy plan to follow. I already ate 5-6 times a day, so that part wasn't hard to adjust to.
The other part of my plan is checking my blood sugars. For the first week, I had to check them like 10 times a day!! It was a huge pain, but made a little easier in that I was on bedrest, so didn't have much else to do with my time. ;) They do that to get a baseline, adn see if your sugars are regulating with your new diet. Now, I only check my sugars 4X/day - first thing in the AM, then one hour after I eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Now that I can be more active again, I have a hard time remembering to do this, but even if you check 2 hours after you eat, it offers good info.
Hope that helps a little! Feel free to email me if you have any other questions! It can be a little confusing at first, but if you do end up with GD, its not that bad! :) My email is redsonya@gmail.com.
Hey ladies! Just popping in again for a second....I *cannot believe* how the WC is censoring the use of "clevercouples.com" It really is sad the way things are turning out. I know that we talked about transferring over in the WC AugMommies thread, I don't know if we are in danger or being "punished" so to speak by not being able to log on....there are a few in a YAGE thread that CANNOT get into WC at all. I just wanted to give a heads up to those of you who might have said anything(as I *KNOW* I did) in case you want to get started on copying journals.
BTW
Just went back and caught up a bit - how do we manage to add more then a whole page in like 2 hours??!! :p
BH vs. Real contractions I think a good rule of thumb for these is if they are regular and increasing in intensity (getting harder and harder to breathe/talk through) over a two hour period, call the doc or hospital. Otherwise, consider it practice, and be thankful that you don't have to do labor once a month!! ;)
Carla I'm so glad to hear from you! Sounds like you had a great appointment, and how wonderful that you are able to still do some of your vacation! BC is absolutely gorgeous, and I don't blame you for not wanting to miss out on time there! Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and you and your family will have a wonderful time with each other!
And, your memo...way too funny!!! :D Totally cracked me up!
Tina I forgot to comment on your family before...basically, phooey to them!!! I can't believe they are so unsupportive! Have none of them every been through a pregnancy before? Even an uneventful one?? As if a normal sane person would willingly take on bedrest for as long as you have...yeesh! :mad: It can't make your situation any easier. But, for what its worth, I'm so impressed with how well you have managed! You've kept those boys safe and sound for a long time, and their health is going to be a wonderful payoff. Maybe you can sneak a few bottle rockets under offensive members' chairs! ;)
Tracy I love that site, too!! DH is going to have a fit when he sees all the things I am finding to buy on there! Good bye mid-year bonus!!
Leslie I ordered those pjs last night! DH even said I could order one in each color, but I just got one to start with - figure I'll check the fit on them first and then order the second pair. However, they are listed on sale on the site, but when I ordered them, they charged me full price. I called this morning, and Customer service was very helpful and fixed it for me, but just something to watch for. They seem to be having some weird things going on with the site in general, so maybe its another glitch. The order has been shipped already, and I'm so excited to see how they work!!
Off to put Tallie down for a snooze. I think I'll rest for a while, too!!
I hope our missing members can find us. :( We do have most of our members though!
Have they done ConstantChatter.com since it has changed. Wow it feels weird to be caught in the middle of this mess. This is a lot more laid back though. It feels like some people are trying to turn this into a war. It is really sad to think of how much of a home that was, and now it is becomming hard to visit there.
I found a free pattern for prefold diapers!!! I am so happy. It uses old shirts and stuff, but I figure I can use other fabric. It is at www.fernandfaerie.com
Another one here having mad BH's. Last night I had them for a solid 25-30 minutes on my way home from dance class. It's not so much that they hurt (it's more like constant pressure), but I'm sorry, constant pressure for that long is gonna hurt. Mine are (almost) all on my right hand side with the worst pain/pressure focusing on the top most part of my ribs. When it is really bad I feel like someone is crushing my ribs or squeezing my ribcage really, really hard. Yes, I can talk through them so it isn't a real contraction, but owie.
I also think I lost my mucous plug this morning and I've been leaking some clear, colorless, odorless liquid. It doesn't pool so I don't think it is amniotic fluid, but I have no clue what it might be. I moved my Thursday appointment to this afternoon because I don't know what to think. I'm guessing that everything is normal, but I don't want to blow it off, just in case it is something.
It's not so much that I think I'm going to go into labor tomorrow as much as it is that I'm worried that even if it is 2-3 weeks from now, that is still too early. I think worst case scenario at this point is bed rest. I think I'm just trying to prepare myself that this may happen even earlier than we planned. I also think that there is something they can do for baby's lungs if they think I am a candidate for preterm. Again, this is all self-diagnosis worst-case scenario type stuff. I fully expect that I'm a-okay and that I will be back at my desk tomorrow morning. Wish me luck.
Thank you so much for the information Sonya! Thank you for posting your number too! Doesn't sound very hopefull for me (and to be honest, I'm not that surprised that I failed the first test)
I'm also a carb junkie, so if I do have GD - this is going to be hard for me to adjust to. DH and I eat a ton of white rice, pasta, bread with every meal, and I drink a ton of fruit juices - all things that were said to be a no no from my google search this morning.
I'm really greatful to have found someone on this diet, in case I need to go on one too. It'll be nice to ask you questions! (and like you said, prepair us for the post baby weight loss program! LOL!)
Sorry for the hi-jack ladies! I appreciate you guys letting me pop in here! :D
As far as I know they haven't done anything with "constant chatter" yet...I don't want to take up space with it here, but I will say this: The damage is DONE...most everyone over at WC either knows or has heard about, or KNOWS someone that knows/heard about CC. It's no different than LJ(or the knot or UW for that matter) with the exception that CC & LJ shouldn't be threatening in that they are NOT wedding websites!! But none of the others get censored out, kwim? I'm following this...people are worried about getting banned(keep in mind these are those that are a little more...ahem...outspoken;)) WC has now EDITED posts...AND *get this* DELETED POSTS of certain people also. I can see them panicking over so many choosing to leave, but it's really going a little too far IMO. I'll be back....
No “C” for me...
Well we just got back from the doctors visit with Maternal & Fetal Medicine. We met with the doctor in a little meeting room and he looked through my file, and all my platelet paperwork and asked some questions. Then he basically said "so what is the problem?". He doesn't think that a csection is necessary and that my platelet counts aren't near any danger zone. He also said that plenty of mothers with low platelets give birth to babies with normal blood counts. He did talk about 2 methods that they used to use to determine the baby's blood counts before they are born but both have risks and can be a bit inaccurate (one was taking blood from the umbilical cord, and the other is scraping the baby's head once I am 3-4 centimeters dialated. poor thing).
We also talked about the fact that I am below the level for an epidural. He said that the final decision on this rests with the anesthesiologists, and some have varying opinions and thresholds that they use. But I trust my specialists and they all use 100,000 as the cut off, and I was at 93,000 at my last appointment. I probably won't even ask for one knowing what *could* happen in my case.
He did also mention that he would stay away from forceps or vacuum if we have a choice. Of course, he said, never say never, but if they can be avoided, then to do so.
So I guess I have to be tough! Husband and I are glad we went to the childbirth class now - I guess I should start practicing my breathing techniques and go buy that birthing ball thingy! I will say that I am a bit disappointed. I had gotten myself all prepared for a cesarian that now I am scared and feeling unprepared to go natural with no drugs. Especially since the baby is measuring so big. I even brought my calendar to the appointment so we could schedule a day!!! :(
oh well. I just hope baby comes soon and I don't have to wait that much longer.
Back with an update!! My doc checked me, etc. I have NOT started dialating. However, I am thinning and soft. They ran another test on me - sort of like a pap - that tests whether or not you could go into labor in the next 2 weeks - it checks for placenta attachment (need to read up on this). I will have the results some time tomorrow. They said not to count on going to 40 weeks. So, we shall see!!!
Whew I made it over. I know that I hardley ever post but I do follow along everyday :)
Everything is going okay here. Just plugging along. I do have my "big" ultrasound next Tues. (my Drs office waits to do them until 32 weeks because they use a 4D machine)
I haven't had a look since about 24 weeks so I am anxious to see him.
I also have been having BHC but they don't really bother me to much so I just continue on with what I am doing :)
Okay have to go rescue Brooke from the highchair before she climbs out on her own :)
Leslie They believed they were contractions! They are low, just like contractions would/should be. However, they don't seem to think the contractions are strong enough, at this point, to cause any dilation (sp?). We shall see!!
Wow - it sounds like we have some impatient August babies!!
Lora Glad to hear you are still holding on, though it doesn't sound like you have much longer.
Janet Thinking of you - does sound like you might be leaking water, especially if you've lost your plug already! Hope all goes well at the docs
Jennifer Happy almost anniversary to you, too! :) I think at one point I did realize that we shared that date.
Rebecca Glad you found us over here!
Sully So good to see you here, too!! Hope you stop by often! :)
Has anyone else's husband turned into a giant baby??? Mine seems to have regressed back to his early teen years - belly aching about everything!! He's driving me nuts!! He's moodier then me, which is a very difficult feat, these days. I just want to remind him...I'm the pregnant one! I'm the one who gets to be bitchy. He has no excuse, and needs to just suck it up and pretend to be pleasant! :mad:
On better news - I have actually gotten a few things accomplished!! (Well, nothing today, but yesterday was busy!) The nursery closet doors are now painted, and just need to be installed. I put up our old crib and put bedding in, to start figuring out what to do about what we have. I made the appointment at the hospital to get pre-registered (I dont' know if its a good or bad thing that the gal who I talked to knew who I was...I think we've visited there too much already!) I still haven't packed my bag, but feel like I'm finally starting to make progress!
ball
We have an exercise ball at work, and I just tried the exercises out. The baby started moving a lot right afterwards - coincidence? I think I will get a ball for home! I'm going to take one of my duplicate shower gifts and exchange it for an exercise ball.
One concern was that it seems so big and bulky to have around the house, but if I just put it in the baby's play area, then he will probably like a big red ball in the future. I know my nephews will have fun with it in the meantime when they're over here.
At my childbirch class a week or two ago, I asked if they had birth balls at the hospital, because I saw pictures of couples using them in labor in the handbook . (I could deliver at one of two hospitals. I haven't decided which is my first choice. If one has all the L&D rooms full, then I won't have a choice, they overflow to each other). She said that one of the hospitals have the balls gathering dust in a closet, since no one uses them, and the other hospital doesn't have them. Maybe I'll be the exception? I think I want one for now and for the baby afterwards too.
nursery
Am I the only one who hasn't started a nursery yet? Dave's out of town too, so we'll set up the crib and all when I'm 36 weeks. We have no excuse - we haven't moved or anything, we just wanted to keep things as they are as long as possible, in case we wanted the space.
Twice today I've tried to check in on WC journals, only to get an "error" message saying they can't find the message boards. Does that mean I've been unceremoniously booted?! I haven't been really outspoken, though I mentioned in my personal journal that I thought I might have to leave permanently before too long. I did say that I planned to stick around for a while, though. I haven't been able to get on since. :confused:
I can't believe that everyone's experiencing so much BH/Reg. contrax! I thought I hadn't felt any BHC at all, but as I was running errands today, I got a pain that made me stop and take a breath. It just felt like a strong amount of pressure, uncomfortable, but not really a tightening or painful. So I'm not sure. My labor fear, and this is going to sound silly, is that I won't know I'm in labor. When I had an appendicitis, I went TWO WEEKS with the pain before anyone figured it out. Mind you, it hurt and I went to doctors, but they didn't believe it was appendicitis because I shouldn't have been able to walk around with it or take the poking they did. I didn't like it, but I got through it, so they decided I have a very high tolerance for pain. But labor?! Please, THAT'S pain. So maybe I'm feeling something, and it just hasn't registered that much yet. I get them every so often, and I have to pause, but I've never attributed them to BH let alone regular contractions. Oy! So confusing!!!
Aug21 Glad to see you made it. Don't work too hard on getting the house done.
Sully Good to hear from you. Keep coming around!
Gosh, it seems like we're not too far from giving birth stories! So exciting, but let's not hurry, right?! ;)
Sonya, do this for every page of your journal:
Click 'File' at the top of your browser
Click 'Save As' and make sure 'Save As Type:' says 'Web Page'
Click 'Save'
You may want to name each page you save 'Page 1', 'Page 2', etc.
You will end up with a folder that contains all of the images from each page and then the web page itself. I created a folder on my desktop and named "FP Journal" and saved the whole thing to there. Once I was done, I burned the whole folder to a cd and then deleted the folder off of my desktop. It didn't take me too long to do all of this-including burning the cd. HTH!
Janet, any news? I've been thinking about you since yesterday!
Im here!
I had started a post yesterday - filled with s/o's and such...and then my doorbell rang and I never got back to it. DH closed the window late last night.
My Mom, Aunt, and Grandma came up yesterday and brought lunch and a few meals for the freezer. They helped me sort through baby clothes and got everthing washed up - let me know what I need and what I have plenty of. Showed me what to do with different things and where I might want to put things/arrange things differently.
It was a good visit, but man - I got tired out!
(Perhaps they can report back to my brothers and sisters and tell them Im not overexagerating. LOL)
I am so ready to start washing all of the baby clothes and putting them away but we are still waiting for Scotty's big boy bed and furniture to arrive. Once they arrive, we will move the changing table and dresser and I will be able to put the babies clothes away. The nursery is driving me nuts, I just want to get it done but there are so many factors. Scotty still sleeps in his crib and we are not getting another one. We plan to put the big boy bed in his room with the crib and let him get used to the fact it is in there. Then hoping the transition will be smooth but over a few weeks. Once he is in his big boy bed then I can dress up the crib in the nursery with all the cute bedding we have just stored in the closet. If Scotty doesn't take to the big boy bed, we will leave him in the crib until he is ready. The baby will be in the bassinet for a few months and then once we are ready to move him and Scotty is still in his crib we will use the pack n' play bassinet. All in all it will work out fine, I just want to decorate the nursery. I love to decorate!
I had my appt yesterday. Baby is measuring right on at 34 weeks, not BIG at all. I am having another u/s at 37.5 weeks to get a fetal weight. They will begin to strip my memebranes at 37 weeks and I told her I do NOT want to be induced. I have been there so now it is such a big issue with me. Anyways, I can't wait until my next appt in 2 weeks to see if I am dilating or thinning or anything. We will know more then. Wow I can't believe how little time we have left! :eek:
I think we're going to need daily check in's from now on.;)
I think its some of the other girls who need to have daily check-ins...I've been doing great! (oh, how I love my terb...)
And yeah, my mom was a huge help (as were my aunt and gram). I feel more relaxed about what we still may need. They felt we were pretty much set, although my friends (with newborns) said we need a lot more clothes in smaller sizes.
Tips my aunt shared:
I had picked out sleep sacks for them to wear home - my aunt pointed out that they can't wear them in the carseats since the harness would go between their legs. I never thought of that. LOL
She also recommended just having them wear something comfortable, its going to be a long, fussy ride home.
On the changing table, I just had diapers, wipes and miscellanous things (bath wash, rattles, etc.). She recommened putting a stack of receiving blankets and some onsies in a basket on it. When they have a blow-out, everything I need will be in reach. I have the dress right beside the changing table, so I think I will keep the clothes handy there though, and just put the receiving blankets on the changing table.
She also recommended keeping diapers and blankets in the basket under the basinette, as well as in the upstairs and downstairs changing tables. And more clothes downstairs than what I had, so Im not running upstairs all day long for clean clothes.
Oh yeah, and they said I really should have this stuff completely ready soon. LOL And that I better get my bag finished up. And the car seats dug out of the closet and installed...we were hoping to buy a Durango before they were born though. LOL We better get a move-on.
Tracy We are going through the same thing with Drew. He's still in his crib and he's not showing any signs of being interested in a bed. We ended up borrowing a crib from our all too generous neighbors but I had to switch all the furniture so Drew is using a big boy dresser that my brother used to use when he was a kid. Everything is such a jumbled mess at this point.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bare with me here while I vent. I feel like a jerk for feeling this way but I can't help it. :(
I've posted about my SIL before, she had "preterm labor" at 26 weeks. We're still due on the same day, she with a girl and me with a boy. Well, she was put on bedrest and never listened to her Dr. She couldn't be bothered to sit still, just wasn't her kind of thing. So she was back and forth with this pre-term labor bit and its like everybody drops everything to run to her side and dote on her hand and foot. Meanwhile, turns out they were just braxton hicks contrax, she never had them with her first. Fine, although I've been dealing with them forever, I can understand how they will scare you. But at least listen to your DR?
Next, while supposedly on bedrest, she slips a disc in her back. How you manage that on bedrest is beyond me (something tells me it was 4 loads of laundry and taking her 2 year old to the park, and going to the movies all in the same day that added to the problem, ya think?). Once again, everyone runs to her side. My Mom leaves me without a sitter for days so she can sit by her side in the hospital. I think thats nice of my Mom. I really do. But once again, just as pregnant me has to pick up the slack. I know thats my role as a parent. But they make me feel so bad for putting my foot down. They seem to think i'm overreacting by not letting my parents take Drew to the hospital to spend the day there with them. Do I even need to comment on why this is a bad idea? Really, a hospital with sick OB patients? My almost two year old?
So they give her a nerve block and she's off to DISNEY the following weekend. Can you believe that? So I saw her last friday. She blurts out that she's lost 5 lbs and the baby is measuring too small. Once again, everyone flips out. I have to hear all weekend about how SIL didn't throw up her dinner on friday, isn't that great? :confused: Yeah, great.
She was supposed to have a fetal growth U/S today to check on the baby. Well, my Mom just called me to tell me that they didn't do the U/S today and that the baby is a little bit small. She was having more contrax last night and the dr checked her cervix and her cervix is thinning. Isn't that great, she says?
OK, yeah. Its great. I'm happy for her. Really I am. But I'm going to lose my mind. I'm doing everything i'm supposed to here to ensure that my baby is healthy. She hasn't taken a bit of her "condition" seriously. I'm supposed to be happy that she's *this close* to having her baby 6 weeks early? While I sit here doing the right thing, at my full time job, taking care of my son, husband, and my parents are living with me. Nobody seems to get that it would be nice for them to share a little bit of that concern with me.
I know I sound like a 4 year old, I feel like one too. I don't know why this situation is making me so jealous. I don't want her problems, trust me. I love my baby enough that I wouldn't subject him to that kind of careless behavior. FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, her 2 year old was eating tootsie rolls for breakfast this morning. I don't raise my kids that way. But I just want someone to cut me a break and actually respect me for doing what I'm supposed to do rather than rewarding behavior that is not healthy for Mom or baby. KWIM?
After reading what I wrote, I just want to add that I hope that none of the mommies on this thread that are faced with preterm labor scares take this to mean anything negative about. There is a big difference between you guys and her. She's been quoted recently as saying that she doesn't even want this baby anymore. She gives Mom's in the same situation a bad name.
It feels good to get that all out. I hope you all don't mind. I know its just my irrational mind talking. I just can't help it.

Another tip that helped us out a ton. Have 'changing stations' in all the rooms you are in a lot. We used baskets. In them they had diapers, wipes, an extra outfit, quiet a few of burp clothes and a blanket. We used about 5-6 burb clothes a day for spit up, blow outs, potty accidents and covering him up when we took his diaper off. Boys seem to spray at the wrong time when they are so little!! It can be a pain having to go to the changing table everytime you have a diaper change. Just something that helped us.

Melissa I am truly sorry you have to go through this right now. Some people are just selfish and aren't 'all there' in the head sometimes. How frustrating that you can be so careful to take care of your growing baby and she can be so selfish. It makes me so mad that some people take pregnancy for granted. I hope her baby is healthy and I wish the best for her as it is NOT her fault. I hope she is not born too early and I hope your SIL snaps out of her 'funk'. Vent all you need to to us, it helps to get it off of your shoulders.

Tracy, I really hope the same thing. Its like everyone is accepting defeat and failure and saying well, at least she's made it this far.
I hope that baby stays put and is totally healthy, despite my SIL's antics. But let me tell you this, if this little girl turns out anything like my poor nephew, we're all in for a heap of trouble. Her problems regarding pregnancy don't even begin to scratch the surface. I'm sure you can imagine the parenting that comes along with these types of attitudes.

I think we have a name for the baby, although it could still change.
Tyler Michael...what do you guys think?
Scotty was suppose to be Zachary and everyone called him that until about 2 weeks before he was born. We ended up going with Scott since that was the boy name my parents had picked out for me and my sister, but we were both girls. ;) Had more meaning you know? So the name is not set in stone but we have been leaning towards it for months now.

They were talking about a 13 pound 12 ounce baby on tv this morning, and she was born three weeks early! :eek: Ouchie!
Oh well, I am going to go see if I can figure my sewing machine out. I am in the mood to make diapers. If I can't I will just get a whole bunch cut out that I can sew on my mom's machine this weekend. :) I have an old flannel sheet set that I am going to make prefolds with. I also have diaper fabric, but I might as well use the free stuff as practice.
Melissa Sorry you are having to put up with this. Pregnancy is really hard to deal with sometimes. Especially if you have people who don't follow any of the rules and then have problems. My mom was one of the ones who never followed any rules with pregnancy, and keeps getting mad about me following rules. But I think Tootsie Rolls sound yummy, can I show up at her house for breakfast? :D

I finished all my thank you's last night from Sunday's shower. :D (yes, I'm patting myself on the back. MIL just laughed at me and told me she'd get me an award!) But, now that it's done, I went through the gifts again and made piles - one of stuff to be washed, and one to be returned. It's given me two questions:
- Should I cut the tags off and wash everything? What if, God forbid, something goes wrong? Or, if it really isn't a girl? (even though two sonograms confirmed it). Should I just wash one crib sheet and some neutral onesies and wait til the baby is here for the rest? Or am I freaking for nothing?
- We now have 6 handmade blankets, 3 crib blankets, and 8 receiving blankets. I want to return 2 of the crib blankets. MIL thinks I should keep them for when Bridget gets bigger (like in 6 months). DH doesn't care either way. I know it's only 2 blankets, but we're talking $30+ dollars that I could spend on other stuff. What do you think? Do I have more than enough blankets, or do I keep them and just buy the stuff we didn't get?
Thanks!

Vent away, Melissa! That would be hard to deal with from your perspective...how aggravating! I can completely understand how you must feel, not that I've been there myself, but it all makes perfect sense. It's sad that your SIL acts like that and feels that way about her little one! At least you can rest knowing that even though no one seems to notice, your children are well-loved and well-taken care of! I hope they recognize that you, also, need help during your pregnancy, even though you are not being a "Drama Mama" about it. ;) I do hope that your SIL's baby is healthy and perfectly fine!
Tina Glad your family came over and helped you out - now they're talking!! :D
Leslie I have that changer too! I didn't ever think about securing it. I don't think I will worry about it until he's big and active enough to slide it around by himself!
Lora I hope you get positive test results back from your Dr. Are they supposed to call you back today??
Tracy Good changing table/basket tips!! I feel so wise now that I'm getting all these insider tips!! :p
-------
Ugh, ate chili and guac and cornbread last night - YUMMY...but man, do I have really bad indigestion or something (heartburn?) right now. My DH had worse gas than ME last night which is a real rarity nowadays! LOL, I had to make fun while I had the chance.
Tonight I have my 33 week check up...I really don't have anything going on that would raise an eyebrow, so I guess it will be a very quick appointment! I am giving her my birth vision/plan to put in my file, so I guess we could talk about that...
I am thinking about getting a massage from a lady who specializes in pregnancy massages...my back has been just CONSTANT lately. DH will rub it but it only helps for the time he's putting pressure on it and when he stops it's back immediately. Would seeing this massage therapist or chiropractor do more than just temporarily ease my discomfort you think?
QOTD Baby Registries - I have one at BRU and I feel like mine is so big (about 45 items + clothes) and that after the shower, DH and I will have to spend a lot of $$ to do "clean up" on the stuff we'll need. I only invited about 28-30 people to the shower and I know only 20-25 will show, if that. How did you all (that have already gone through showers!) fare in getting all of the stuff you really needed? DH and I have spent a lot already, I'm just anticipating we'll need to spend even more...
Oh and are we going to do a who's going to go first poll sometime? :D :eek: So many are in the running it would appear, I can't decide!

Melisa - vent away - Yes she is annoying, and I hear you about the one who does everything right gets ignored while the screw-up gets doted upon...I am in the same situation with my sister. It sucks...I vent about her in LJ often.
Tina - Of COURSE that is not an option now - that would make life TOO EASY grrr...guess if I have not gone back to read my journals yet it will NEVER happen. Yeah for you keeping the boys in! If anyone is negative well you can send them our way and we can read them the riot act for ya? ;)
Lora - hope bebe stays put. You have a cute belly!
Lori - Your belly is too cute as well! My little man hangs out on one side most days as well - isn't it weird how one side will be hard?
Leslie - I have the same changing pad. We will attach it to the furniture, and all furniture in the house to the walls...We live in CA, and my family is known to have climbers...can never be too safe. But with the pad the lady at the baby store (small local one where every lady has worked there for at least 7 years - they were there with my nephew...and that is as far back as I go) recommended we do that because it can slip. These ladies were a wealth of info so I tend to take what they say.
sarah - I have been going to a massage person and chiropractor this whole pregnancy...I think the chiro lasts a bit longer for me, but with my muscle spasms (yes my entire back will spontaniously spasm...but this was before being PG) the massage helps. Thing is they will not do too deep of a massage when you are pregnant...maybe while you are there keep telling them if it still hurts. They can do some trigger point on you to loosen up muscles if need be. I guess my point is massage and chiro are both great, but they treat two different things. I know the chiro has helped my hips tremendously...
I have my OB appt today...lets take bets on how long I wait. I think the last time I did not have an appointment FIRST thing in the morning it was 1.5 hours! NO I AM NOT KIDDING!!!! This time I brought stuff to make jewelry while I am there LOL!
Right now I have to ask her about my numbness. You see about 3 weeks ago I woke up with a SHOOTING pain in my thigh it felt like someone took a nerve or vein that ran across the side of my leg and RIPPED IT OUT! Ever since then that whole area goes numb or feels like it is asleep with its burning tingling feeling. Especially if I lay on that side. I have to sleep on 5 pillows right now so my tush/hip has ZERO pressure. This is on the left side that we are SUPPOSE to lay on...
Then yesterday after getting out of the car I could not walk! This time it was the other hip on the inside (by the you know) but definitely in the hip. I was limping into the office. I had to go into the bathroom to do squat stretches that was attractive.
Not to mention - I have had contractions for over a month now off and on. I had no idea what they were until you ladies described them...but now I am sure. I don't know if they are brought on by this little issue, and this may be TMI - but I have had the opposite of constipation this entire pregnancy. :( My doc knows and said to just watch it, but it is not fun. The intestinal cramping has been since month 4.
This weekend parents from both sides will be up. Someone will be on an air matress and I have a feeling MIL will be unhappy...oh well I feel that my parents were on the air mattress at Thanksgiving so it is their turn now...sound fair? We are suppose to tape up the stripes for little man's room and put it together! My parents are also bringing up everything from the shower...we had to fly back (doc said no long drives and it is 6 hours) so we left everything with them. I cannot wait to see what we have. It was too hard to really look at the shower.
And in good news! We should have our pool filled by this weekend!!!! OMG! We started this the SAME week we found out we were pregnant...it was getting to the point where DH & I were wondering which would come first little man or pool. So I will be swimming. The guys will be finishing the landscape to prepare for our BBQ/shower on the 23rd! Nothing like cutting it close. I had to tell all the pool companies that the shower was the 9th - good thing because they pushed us up because of it. Wow pushed us up seems like 8 months is LONG ENOUGH!
Well my appointment is in an hour and I gotta get some flows done...sounds like fun huh?

Geez! I just read through 20 pages of posts since I've been here last! You girls have been posting maniacs!
DH and I spent over an hour last night cutting tags off of clothes and I started to wash them...I have a whole 'nother load waiting to be washed but don't have any plain Tide or unscented laundry detergent...everything we normally use is pretty perfume-y. I was afraid to cut tags too but gave in and just did it...I don't want to do that after the baby is here.
Sarah - I didn't fare too well at my shower. I received lots of clothes (which we sort of needed, but most were these cutsie overalls and jeans and stuff instead of onsies and sleepers that he'll spend most of his time in) and not much off of my registry. We still have to go back and buy a BUNCH of stuff that we didn't get (bottles, wipes, bottle liners, sleepers/onsies, baby bath tub, etc.) I hope you do much better! :)
All these babies wanting to come out early!!?? Wow...I hope they stay put for a few more weeks! I'm due Aug. 31 and hoping our little one comes a week or two early! :D

Sarah - I agree with Ellen. We did get our tub, swing, and diaper genie, but just about everything else was clothing, and not the basics. No onesies, and only two sleepers. The stuff is cute, but some of it is too nice to be used for every day. When we registered, DH wanted to put a ton of clothes on there, but I wouldn't let him. In my experience, people buy what they think is cute, not what you want/need. Good luck!

Hi all!! Glad to see some folks are back - I hear ya, Leslie on a daily roll call. But, with as bad as I am about getting in here sometimes, I'd be one to set everyone into a frenzy for not showing up! ;)
We have our appointment in an hour or so. I'm not sure how it will go - could be a quickie like last time, or I might convince him to check me, with all the contractions I've been having. We'll talk about the plan for next week, as the doc will be on vacation, and I want to know who I'll be seeing if something goes wrong. Better to have a plan and not need it then not have a plan!
My thoughts on cutting tags and washing clothes... I'd do some, but not all. We got a ton of clothes at showers and stuff, for Tallie, and I was amazed at how much she didn't wear. She was (still is) a pretty petite baby, so we got more then the typical use out of the smaller clothes - she was in 0-3 months until summer (born in January), and was in 3-6 months until Christmas (when she was almost a year old!), and she still didn't wear everything. Your baby's size will play a factor, and you will likely also get a ton more clothes once your baby actually gets here. Having tags on things makes them easier to return or sell (on ebay, to consignment, etc). Someone also mentioned an excess of blankets...I'd say take back extras. We tended to use a few blankets the most, and the rest just sat. Plus, until the weather cools down a lot, you won't use tons of blankets, and once the weather does cool down, you'll probably be more likely to turn the heat up then pile on blankets for safety reasons (your baby will be wiggly by then, and you won't want a bunch of blankets in bed with them that they can get tangled in).
Eh - just my thoughts! Of course, whatever you choose to do is going to work great for your family anyway. :) I just think its so fun that we are getting to this stage!!! We are really going to start bringing home these little people that we have spent the last 8 months getting ready for!! Does it get any better??!! :D
