For all of you 2nd time moms, are you fearing you will go into labor when you have your little one with you? Matt and I have talked about it but he is stressing. Scotty is with me almost 24/7. If I go into labor during the day, everyone will be at work and we will have to take him with us. They would pick him up as soon as they can leave work and get there, but he will see me in pain. So my ideal time to go into labor would be in the middle of the night or at least after he goes to bed. That way someone can come over and stay here with him, Matt and I can go to the hosp, and then Matt can come home by morning and nothing will really be different for Scotty. Wouldn't that be nice if we could choose when we will go into labor!! :)
We're just starting to discuss this now, because I realized this week that I don't have a plan for this. My kids are 7 and 9. Their dad (my ex) works during the day, usually somewhere outside of town (he's a contractor). So, it won't be possible to have him drop everything for us. And, I really don't want to ask - it just doesn't seem right to ask my ex to miss a day of work (and pay) - it just seems awkward, and I don't think it should be his responsibility.
Dh's parents live out of town, so they're not an option.
Dh's sister rents our basement suite, but she works two jobs and isn't home most of the time, so I wouldn't want to depend on her, nor screw up her work schedules by asking her to stay home with the kids.
I think my only option is to have my best friend watch them - she has been hinting like crazy (ok, she's been flat out asking me, lol) that she'd like to come to the hospital. While I still don't want anybody in the delivery room but myself and DH, if she comes to the hospital with the kids, then the kids can come into the delivery room directly after the birth to meet their new brother and sister. I think she'll be thrilled - actually, I know she will. When I called her the day I found out I couldn't go houseboating, she thought I was going into labor and jumped up right then to leave her office and drive to the hospital. ;) So I know it won't be a problem to pull her away when the time comes.
Tina you need to be sharing those baby-growing secrets with the rest of us! I can't believe how healthy your twins are - they're bigger than some of the singlets, I bet!
Even if I delivered tomorrow, there's no way I'd leave the August mommas. I've bonded with this group, not just the month assigned to it! :)

Holy Smokes girls! I am behind by like 5 pages again!!!
Val - WOWOWOW!!! How exciting! I cannot wait to see pics of these babies! It won't be long now at all!!
Jennifer - Thanks for the words of support re: the C sect...it's nice to know someone else that's like to have a planned C also.
Sonya - Thank you also for the support...I know people are just, well..people. It seems like the only ones that understand me are my loving DH and you girls! Thank goodness for my Augmommies! & Like you said...screw everyone else and what they think! Kudos to you for cleaning the car, I'm winded just thinking about it! I really need to pack my bag...at least SOME of it.
Lori - Nice to see you popping in! Good to hear that you're still baking away, it's amazing how many of our girls are full term now! Sorry about the stabbing pains! I've only had something thta bad once and I ruled it out as BHC because of the duration and what went with it. Maybe you're starting to progress a little!!
Shell - I like this name too! I am still planning on doing the feather boa shot! :o When I first told Gino about it he was like, what?? But I think the idea is growing on him a little. I've always loved taking funky/artistic pics and I know my photographer will make them tasteful (although some may not agree or like it). I don't plan on showing the world so I don't think it'll be *that* big a deal. Lina moves around a lot too, but I cannot tell for the life of me what's sticking out where!
Melissa - Big congrats to your friends that finally adopted! That's very sweet! And I am SOOOO glad you liked your gift. I hadn't heard you mention anything and I was worried you opened it and thought, 'what the hell is this thing??" LOL! Hope Evan grows to love it as one of his favorites!!
Tina -Thanks for posting that list...I can always use another to cross reference...which reminds me, I *HAVE* to pack my bag. Someone's going to have to come to Myrtle to kick my ass into gear.:o And OMG, OVER 12 lbs of baby in there!!!! Well done mama, Well done!!
Carla - You just talked me into taking a nice bath later, hehe.
Funny thing, everyone's talking about "natural induction"...one of my GFs told me that her DR said NO bath oils/salts/crystals with Eucalyptus for this very reason...but God does it smell heavenly! I know I'm holding out till August though so NO risking it for me!
Kat - Score on the baby clothes! That's so nice of your neighbor!
sarahanna - I keep feeling Angelina all up in my ribs/sternum too. It keeps me so short of breath, but it doesn't feel like little toe tapping...it feels like she is salsa dancing on my lungs.
Erika - Sorry to hear your GBS was positive! I dread that test, it sounds so uncomfy.
Staying with August Mommies - You bet your ass I am, we're a team right?? :D
Darrien - I am with you on the heartburn...it seems like anything, even water, will do it.
Tracy - Sorry you are feeling bad! Maybe all your "end of pregnancy" symptoms mean you're not too far off now! At any rate, I hope you start feeling better soon! A Snoedel is a little doll/blankie type toy that mom or dad sleeps with for a few nights then puts with baby to soothe & it smells like mom/dad. You can read more about them at www.snoedel.com , very cool concept I think...and "snoedel" means snuggle in, oh I forget which language, lol. Oops!
QOTD - when will my bundle arrive? I'm hoping that it's right on target for my appt. No sooner, no later....it's nice when a plan comes together right?
Stacy - I am SO sorry about your hip pain, but DAMN that room looks good! I LOVE the stripes!! I meant to comment earlier and I don't know how I forgot but YES definitely paint the chair railing first(especially since it's black). I actually put 2 coats on ours...that way after it was nailed up, all I had to do was putty the nail holes and creases together, sand it and TOUCH UP, not paint the entire thing. PLUS, black paint is messy if you make mistakes. Can't wait to see the finished product!
Kymba - Glad to see you made it over!! Another early baby? We should definitely take a poll or who will go first!
Michelle - Hope your first BF class went well!
WHEW that was a lot!! I'm going to post a few belly pics, but I have to crop them and all that stuff....be back soon!

I am wearing the same jeans that I have on in the first pic, YAY! *Ahem* they aren't fastened though...I used a hairband looped through the button-hole and around the button. A little trick my mom taught me:o And with my long shirt on, no one had a clue! And isn't it amazing what a black shirt will hide?? Well from the front anyways, hehe. :p

Kim Same jeans huh now that's impressive!!! You look great by the way :)
BF class went great I really liked the teacher she was hilarious and very informative. DH can't make it with me to class because of work so I felt a little lonely, there were probably only 4 or 5 other girls there without partners out of about 50-60 people, he'll just have to read the literature at home. I am not to worried I know he knows how important it is to me to nurse and that he will be nothing but supportive!!
QOTD Those of you who did get your shower hostess a gift what did you give? I was just thinking about that today. My shower is this weekend and I wanted to give my hostess something nice but hopefully not tooo expensive. I have 3, my sister, my mom and my cousin (and best friend) any ideas?

Tracy – How are you feeling? Any better?
Stacy – Those stripes look AMAZING! Seriously! Great job. What does your bedding look like?
Tina – Fantastic news! You sure know how to bake some healthy boys! Oh, and a late congrats on getting the Durango! Very exciting!
Kim – The same jeans? I hate you! :) I don’t think I fit into my first pair of maternity jeans anymore! Gotta love it when the hips spread! You look fantastic!
As for me, last night I was laying on the couch and I had to sit up because my belly got so tight. It was tightening up about every 7-10 minutes -no pain, but it definitely got hard for about a minute and then went back to normal. My husband and I could actually see it tense up. It went on for about 2 hours... Are these braxton hicks??? I *thought* I had had some BHs before, but those were a bit painful. Now I’m not sure. These didn’t hurt, but I could just feel the tightening...

Kim - wow! The same jeans! I just hope that someday I make it back into my pre-preg clothes. The first thing to happen to me was my hips spread out wider.
QOTD - My shower was a surprise, but my hubby was in on it - he bought each of the 6 organizers a bottle of champagne to thank them.

Kim Looking good girl!!!! And still in the same jeans! COngrats!
BTW I remember you posting about the exercice ball at the begginging of this thread, is the link still there. I made a mental note to look at it, but at the time, I was in full moving mode...
************************************
Had a good night last night. I got to sleep in this morning, which I kinda enjoyed since it looks like it is the last times I'll be able to do that. Specualtions have gone crazy around me for Baby's b-date.
Now, a bit of a vent for my own personal sake...
My MIL (which is a weird person sometimes...) called last night to enquired about my apoointment. I mean everybody is happy around me since Baby is coming soon, and since I'm now 37 weeks, there is no reason to get worried whatsoever. Baby made the time he needed, now he is just getting bigger and growing up...Well, she wasn't a bit excited about the fact that I could deliver any day now...She was like, wow, you are already there, but there is still 3 weeks to go.
My MIL is a very controling and self centered type of person. She doesn't like not to have the spotlight on her, and most of all not being able to control the show. Well, she sure isn,t able to control the show (either am I actually!) and she sure ain't in the spotlight this time. (she wasn't at our wedding, and she was a pain, didn't speek to me the whole night!) She is always braggin on how this is HER baby, and her FIRST grand baby being able to carry on the family name (my SIL has a kid already...)Ok, lady, this is our baby! I actually asked at the begginging of my pregnancy that when baby is there, that nobody would be at our house for the first few days, so that we can make a connection with our baby alone, and mot have some overpowering family member (her...) being there, and trying to do anything for us, or ever worst tell us what we should or shouldn,t do. This was clearly understaood, but since then, she is trying to find a way to be here. She wanted to be in the delivery room with us since she thought I had ask my mom to be there for the first few days (which is not the case...) NO WAY. And then again last night she asked Fred to be able to come and visit at the hospital. The thing is she lived 41/2 hours away. I doubt that she will come back and forth just to see the kid 30 minutes at the hospital. I'm sure that if she does this, she'll find a way to stay here. I really can,t stand her sometimes.!
Soory about the rambling, but this is the part about delivery that I'm most scared about. And now that the time is coming soon, I can see her again trying to make things her way...I just know how this is going to end and it is pissing me off.
Ok, I needed that...
Which brings me to a QOTD How do you want to live the first few days at home with kiddo???
As I was saying, for our part, we want to have the first few days on our own, with baby so that we can connect together as a family. We'll put some messages on the answering machine so that we don,t spend half of the day on the phone.
After that, my mom will come over (while I'm in the midst of my baby blues... ;) )to help us with meals and the house.
Might sound really unsocial, but that is the best way we have found not to be overwhelmed by visitors

QOTD We don't mind visitors at the hospital at all. However, we have decided that our first week (the only week DH can be off work) that we are going to be alone. Mom is going to help us with dinners, etc., and maybe stop by in the evenings, but other than that, we're on our own. The second week, she is going to come during the day to help me out after R goes back to work. I love my momma. :)

TY everyone. I feel great today! I have energy, an appetite and overall feel much better than I have the past few days.
QOTD: Matt will be off for the first 2 weeks and I am sure my mom, sister and BIL will be in and out helping with Scotty, dinner, cleaning, etc. They all live less than 3 miles from us which is so nice. We won't have other company than them for the first week or so. I guess they really aren't 'company', not company I feel I have to entertain, ya know? That was a huge difference last time. I really didn't want people over that I felt I had to entertain right after I had a baby. I don't mind visitors in the hospital because the staff is really good at letting them know when it is time to go.
I have my appt this morning and of course I have lots of questions and am very excited. It is a dr. I personally have never been to, but my friends love her so it should be good.

Tina – That’s so great that your boys are growing so well!
Kim – It’s just not fair that you can still get your jeans on. I have several maternity pants that I can’t get on anymore because my thighs and butt have gained inches too.
Val – I thought I did say the full moon was on July 21st and then again on August 19th. Maybe I should go back and check what I said. Sorry your MIL is such a pain. Some people just don’t know how to appreciate other people’s feeling or wishes.
QOTD- hostess gifts – for my first shower I gave one a pedicure gift certificate (she was also pg at the time), the other I gave some bath and body works stuff. My second shower I gave all 3 hostess a potted zinnia. My other showers I didn’t do anything yet.
QOTD – first days home – I really don’t mind my family being there with us. I know my mom will be there for the delivery and stay a couple of days. My inlaws will come too. My FIL has vacation already scheduled for the week of Aug 1. (he has to pick at the first of the year to get the weeks he want). I know they’ll both be with us during that week. I’m just looking forward to someone cooking for us. We may have a full house after Rachel comes, but they all are aware of this and can fend for themselves, because I’m only taking care of me and Rachel.

Val, I completely feel your angst about the MIL situation. Last night, when DH and I started talking about what to do with the kids when I go into labor, he asked, "Well, can't they just wait in the waiting room with my mother?" I almost throttled him. He honestly thought we were going to put out an APB on everyone to come to the hospital and wait while I push.
I thought we had discussed this before (in fact, I know we did, but I figure he's suffering from selective memory) but I do not want his mother knowing that I have gone into labor, because I don't want her showing up at the hospital before the delivery. After what happened with my son's birth, and my mother elbowing her way into the delivery room, I'm not willing to risk the chance that it will happen again. (Especially since MIL is a nurse, and would possibly know members on staff - I could just see how this could unfold.) As far as I'm concerned, with the way she's been acting lately, I don't want to see her at all, but I know I'm being a bit of a spoiled cranky pregnant lady. ;) I would prefer to just call everyone once the baby is born, to give us a chance to bond without warding off visitors. This will probably be my last baby, and DH's only baby, and I don't want the experience marred by anything - I want to be able to savor it.
So I explained to him last night that if I am only going to be in the hospital for 24 hours, I don't want visitors. They can wait one day and meet the new baby in our own home. If I wind up with a c-section, and I have a three day stay, then I'll allow visitors. The thing is, wherever his family goes, there's always the entourage of his mom, stepdad, younger brother and 2 younger sisters, and while I love each of them individually, I came from a small family and I find that many people at once overwhelming on a good day, let alone a few hours after giving birth! ;)
Hostess gifts - I probably won't be much help, because I am making my hostess gifts - my three "best" friends are throwing my shower this Sunday, and I am making jewelry (necklaces) for all them. Each one is different for their individual styles and personalities. Or, I should say, each one WILL be different, because I actually haven't started on them yet.
Doctor's appointment - I have one this morning, which is two weeks from the last one. I've lost some more of my plug, so I'm imagine I'll be subjected to an internal. We'll see how things are going - I'd really like to make it at least 2 or 3 more weeks, so the baby can grow bigger and stronger.

Ooooh, forgot to mention! I booked myself a cut and color for tomorrow afternoon. I figure if this baby DOES come early, it could be my last chance. Don't want the hair looking all raggedy for pictures! ;) I'm just having the dilemma of which way to go with my hair - I usually go pretty light in the summer with lots of blonde, but I'm a natural brunette. I'm wondering if I'd be better off going with something darker, so it doesn't require as much upkeep once the baby comes. Decisions, decisions....

QOTD - My DH is taking six weeks off after the birth so that we can bond as a family and we can really get our act together and into a routine. My parents live overseas and my Mum has been constantly asking when they can come over. A visit from them involves more than an hour here or there, it's having guests in the house for weeks on end - not how I envision our family bonding time. We have therefore agreed that they can come over around Thanksgiving and stay through Christmas (Lord help me - I can feel the stress already!) I will be back to work by then and we intend to have the baby in day care also, so at least we won't be in each other's way 24/7. DH's family lives locally and we haven't actually discussed any rules on visitors to the house once we get home. I think having the first week to ourselves sounds like a superb idea. I am going to suggest that!

Argh-gotta catch up again!
Tracy, I'm so glad you are feeling better! It must have just been the virus that Scotty had, huh?
Val, so sorry about your MIL. That's got to be so frustrating! Make your desires clear to Fred and let him deal with her. She's his mother and your his wife-he needs to make it clear to her what the two of you want and she's just going to have to deal!!! You don't need the stress or the aggravation right now!
QOTD-I'm not really sure how things are going to go down now after I talked to my mom last night. She is chomping at the bit to get up here (she's lives in FL). She's sick of the storms and can't wait to get away from them, would be happy if I went into labor now, blah, blah, blah. Sal is planning on taking the week off that I deliver and I was hoping my mom would come up the week after that. I don't think that's going to fly with her. It's not that I mind having her here because she was a huge help when she was here for my shower, it's just that I think it would be nice if Sal, Luke, and I could be alone that first week-especially since Sal will be off work. As far as the hospital goes, it's just going to be Sal and I. I told him I don't want him to even call his family until after the baby is born. They are all nearby and could get to the hospital at a moment's notice, which is fine, but I think it would be nice if I could have some time to rest and figure out bf'ing and all that jazz before we get bombarded with visitors, ya know?
Lori, sounds like BH to me. I actually got better insight on them last night at our lamaze class. The teacher said they feel just like regular contractions, but they are very irregular. And how you know that is what it is is that your belly will become as hard as a wooden door basically. I thought that was pretty interesting. The few times I thought I was having them, I never paid attention to my belly, so next time I'm going to make sure I do.
Hostess gifts, it was my MIL, my FSIL, my niece, and my mom (although her name wasn't on the invitations-she did the favors and the games)-I bought my MIL and my mom frames that say "I love my grandma", I bought my FSIL a big coffee mug that says "Aunt", and my niece a frame that says "Cousins". Very easy and they all loved their gifts, so it worked out well.
Kim, you are so cute! And I am way jealous of your tan!!!
Sorry if I missed anyone! Crappy sleep again last night and dreading work today. I am so ready to be done. I have accomplished little to nothing the past 2 weeks. I CAN'T WAIT TO GET OUTTA THERE!!! :p

QOTD #1 - I gave my MIL the grandmother figurine from Willow Tree. (the people without faces?) My SIL also gave the shower, but it was at MILs house, so I only gave her a present. Normally, we don't give any hostess gifts, but since it was at the house... My next shower is this weekend, and I haven't decided yet. My sister asked for dishtowels or a plant. Random. She can't even tell me if she wants a real plant or a fake plant.
QOTD #2 - I think just us. Definitely during labor, and just immediate family for hospital visits. ILs live next door to us, and my parents are 10 min. away. I'd like the first few days alone, but know that everyone is right around if we want/ need them.
For those that are already mommies, I was making a list of what to pack in my hospital bag, and noticed that all the lists say nightgowns. I don't own nightgowns. Well, sexy ones, but I don't want to ruin those. ;)
Can I bring tank tops and boxers, or will that be too difficult for all the checking the doctors and nurses do down there? But, if I'm wearing a nightgown, I'll still have to pull down my underwear, so can't I also pull down a pair of boxers? How easily do I need to provide access?
tracer

Julie I didn't take any gowns with me. I wore the hospital ones until I was ready to leave the hosptial. I took a pj's set but never wore it. You can pack a pair of boxers to have just in case you are up and about. I would take what you will feel comfy in, even if you don't ware it you will have it. Why dirty and stain your own things. After birth they put these cheese cloth like underware on you as well. They are so much more comfy that your own underware plus you don't have to worry what happens to them. I usually wear a thong and these are more like granny pants. But they are so lightweight you can barely tell you have them on. I actually took a few extra pairs to wear the first few days at home. They hold those nice huge pads you have to ware after birth. :D

Tracy - I had also been advised to take as many of the mesh panties home as possible and that they are a godsend! I agree - I will wear the hospital Johnnie while there and just have a robe to throw on if I am going to be up and about.

You and me both with the gown. The panties aren't cute by any means but are SO practical.

07-12-2005, 08:29 AM
Hear hear on the mesh panties. They might look bizarre, but they're pretty comfy (if I remember correctly) and there's no point in ruining your own undies when you can wear the mesh ones and throw them away after.
I didn't wear my own pj's either time. This time, I was thinking about it, but after looking around for a set of nursing-friendly jammies and having no luck (unless I want to pay a ridiculous amount for the stuff from Motherhood) I've decided I'm probably going to just wear the hospital issued stuff. I've still got a few things on the baby list that have to be purchased, so I'd rather spend my money there.

Thanks for the tips! Now I can also take off the 7 pairs of old underwear on my list! They showed us that underwear at childbirth class, I guess I forgot about it.

Val I empathize with the pushy MIL! I have a feeling mine would be trying to pull the same thing, but she's too far away to actually get here on time. You might check with you hospital staff - I know that at our hospital, they are very happy to play the bad guys and will willingly keep anyone and everyone out of your way, both for delivery and afterwards. If you are feeling like MIL still won't listen to you, it might be an easier way to go then fighting with her. Just let the nurses take care of her. You most definately have better things to do then stress and worry about someone who can't seem to grow up and listen to your wishes. (Hmmm...bitter much?! :o )
Hospital gowns As I was packing my bag last night, I was thinking about this again. I may throw in a boxer set, but I know that I only wore the hospital gown last time. I do remember getting checked a lot, and the easy access was nice. Once I finally took a shower, I was getting ready to check out, so just put on my regular clothes to leave. I had visitors, and wasn't always totally comfortable, but figure eh...I just had a baby. They can deal if they see me looking less then stellar.
What to do with Child #1 We've sort of talked about this, and don't have a super firm plan, but we're pretty lucky, too. We live in a very small town, with my sister and BIL. We also share a baby sitter with them. If I go into labor during the day, during the week, we are covered. The sitter has been with our family since Tallie was born, and is very excited to help out when this next one comes. My sister, BIL, and DH all work at the same place (my sister is DH's boss), so the alarm will sound when I alert Will, and someone will come here to get Tallie. Should things happen at night or on the weekends, my sister is on call. If she isn't here...well, that's the part we haven't firmed up very well yet. We have a few other friends we could call in a pinch.
Hostess gifts When I hosted two showers (for the same friend, on the same weekend), I got two bottles of wine. Honestly, I don't remember if I even gave a gift for my showers. But, some other gifts I've seen that have been nice: a collection of stuff from Bath and Body Works, coffee/mug/gift cert, etc from Starbucks, g.c. for mani/pedi, nice vase. Its tough, especially when you have multiple hostesses to buy for, and your trying not to spend a ton of money. Pier 1 can be a good place to go for ideas, as well as Cost Plus (if ya'll have those?).
Well, Child #1 is crying, so have to close... :)

Staying with Aug Mommies: Of course...I love reading and keeping up with everyone...even though I don't post often.
First few days: I have already tried to make it clear that DH and I want to be alone especially since he can only take a week off. We are getting worried though - ***VENT AHEAD** DH's parents are in the process of moving to be near us so she can take care of the baby when I go back to work (teaching). She is driving me nuts...I feel so guilty for saying that because they are doing so much for us, but I am really having a hard time with this. She doesn't always reassure me that she's going to follow my "rules". I told her that my 12 weeks on leave are my 12 weeks to spend with the baby and I would appreciate it if she would call before she comes over and DH and I agreed that she doesn't need to be there everyday...although I do understand that the week or two before I go back to work she'll need to be there to get into the "routine" and accustomed to taking care of an infant again. I am just getting really worried. :( I feel like the second I walk out the door she's going to disregard everything we want...for instance, we aren't crazy about pacifiers - she thinks it's cute to see a 2 or 3 year old walking around with the dumb things. I understand (and we've even bought a few) that we'll probably give him one but don't want him sucking on it 24/7...if it's the only thing that works at the time, then yeah, we'll go with it, but ugh...I just cringe when I see older kids with them.
Car seat We got ours installed and inspected yesterday...did it right for the most part! Now we know how to put it in (just the base is in right now) so if we decide to take it out until August, then we know what the heck we're doing.
Kim! I'm also impressed with the jeans! :D I actually got curious this past weekend and put on my pre-maternity jeans and they fit! Okay, so I got them buttoned but couldn't hardly stand it...at least I know my butt and thighs aren't growing much too and there's hope for me after the baby comes to get back into my regular clothes!
Heartburn!!! Ugh! I can't take it anymore. This may be TMI but I haven't been sleeping at all - I figured at this point I'd be up 5 times a night to pee (and I am) but I am up all night with heartburn and diarrhea. I don't know what's wrong - I can't keep anything settled. I've tried tums, drinking milk before I go to bed, adding extra pillows to prop myself up, going for a short walk before bed, etc. I am woken up in the middle of a one hour stretch of sleep to throwing up in my mouth and running to the bathroom...first trimester??!!! I can't be this exhausted BEFORE the baby comes! I don't even feel like meeting with friends...I feel bad for DH - he puts up with so much! :o

Ellyn Have you mentioned your heartburn to your doc?? I had a terrible time with it with my first pregnancy, and my doc was able to give me some "magic pills"! ;) I'm sure they were just Pepcid or something similar, but they definately did the trick, and fast! I couldn't live without them! (And, that was after trying all the same things you have tried). You might mention it to him/her and see if they can help you out. Pregnancy has enough miserys - if there's any way to eliminate some, it sure can help!! :)

Well my mom was wondering if I am starting to drop, I think I may be since I am having the luxury of breathing again. She figures if that happens I have about two weeks left. And she saw my stretch marks, she said that she had a few little ones and can't believe that I have half inch wide bruise looking ones.
Daniel bought me two nursing bras yesterday. They are very comfy. We were at the mall and I ran into Motherhood. I was happy to find out that one of the cheap ones is very comfy!
QOTD There will only be people with me during delivery that are medical staff or directly involved in the conception! They can come visit after he has been born, I would rather not have everybody come over to our house. Daniel's mom will be heart broken for missing the birth since she wanted to be there for one of her grandchildren's births. I think Daniel's brother could provide that service!
Val My MIL was calling Ben her baby for a while too. She quit once she found out that we are having a boy since she wanted a girl. It is so annoying, although I did tell her that she could be pregnant for me if it was her baby I am carrying.

Hey Gals! I'm about 15 pages behind so I doubt I can catch up but just wanted to send a quick post that we survived Hurricane Dennis. We suffered some damage to the outside of our house and our utility shed, and lost 3 trees but overall not too bad. We still are without power, lost it around 2pm on Sunday. I am very HOT and miserable, but it shouldn't be long before it is back up. Poor DH is overworked and underfed. All I can think about is thank goodness we are not home with our newborn right now!

Alex- great to hear that you are OK - hope you get that power back very soon!
Val - my DH's grandmother has also been calling our Peanut 'her baby' - I wish I had thought of Daniel's Kitty's response to use. His grandmother has me a little paranoid about how she is going to be when Peanut arrives. Comments like "I'll never put the baby down" have me cringing! Yeah, but I am sure she will pretty quickly once it pukes or shits on her - ha ha!

HI!
I've been so crazy busy at work the last few days that I haven't been able to catch up in here like I would like to. The big boy and I are hanging in here, itching like a madwoman, but doing great!
Val I could not relate to you more about your situation with your MIL. We haven't talked to my IL's in over a year. BUT! I just know that me having this baby will bring them out of hiding. The reason I think this is because 1. they want to save face with the rest of the family and pretend like they are the loving grandparents and 2. because for some reason, they feel entitled to being a part of the action.
I know they will find out i'm in labor from either Mike's aunts or his sister, but not from us. We refuse to call them. I'm so scared/nervous/upset about how I will react if/when they show up and want to see the baby. I can honestly say that this is the one part of the delivery that I am totally not prepared for. I absolutely can not sit by and watch them hold my child knowing how horribly they have treated me over the time that Mike and I have been together. I am tempted to notify security that they are not allowed to visit, but that will just start another family war.
Honestly, I don't know what i'm going to do about this. But i'm terrified, thats for sure.
What to do with child #1 during labor Fortunatly, my parents are living with us until the middle of August when their house is done being built. So if we have a middle of the night situation my Dad will stay home with Drew. Unfortunatly, my Dad doesn't change diapers  . Not sure how i'm going to handle that part yet. My Mom will be in the delivery room with me this time so we have to come up with a back-up plan for the diaper thing. If it happens any time during the day, my parents will come to the hospital and leave Drew with a neighbor until they go home that night. I feel pretty comfortable with this.
First Few Days I haven't put any restrictions on who and when anyone can come see us. Mostly, our family will limit it to the weekend because they work during the week. Same with my friends. With Drew, if I got overwhelmed, i would just leave the room and nurse him or say I wanted a nap and they all pretty much got the hint. If not, Mike will gladly show them the door!
Hospital Gowns/Undies I wore all the hospital issued attire. This time I brought along a robe so that I can cover the backside for trips to the bathroom. I threw in a couple pairs of pj's, just in case I feel like I want to wear something else, but I don't expect to at all.
I also plan on bringing home the mesh undies that they give us. They were great for about the first few days. Then I went back to normal undies.
Thats all I have time for now, I'll check back in later!!
ETA!!! Alex, i'm so glad you are ok. I've been thinking and worrying about you. So glad you checked in!

Alex, I'm so glad to hear that your family is okay. :) Thank you for letting us know!
Ellyn, you should mention the severe heartburn to your doc. Mine prescribed Zantac (because I was having acid reflux, not just heartburn, and no amount of antacid would even touch the pain) and it has been a miracle worker for me. You could also try putting some phone books or other heavy books between your mattress and boxspring at the head of the bed, so help with the elevation.
Just got back from my doctor's appointment - Well, I don't think I'll be the first, but I don't think I'll be the last mom delivering either! My doctor seems to think I will not be carrying to term, and I'd be inclined to agree. I'm nearly 3 cm now, and the BH are getting quite painful, but still irregular. And, (TMI alert) I've been having a really irritable stomach which has me dashing to the bathroom every so often. Might be a sign, might not be. But when you take into account the other symptoms, it's hard to ignore.
Which means I'd better get my butt in gear and finish packing my hospital bag! I started yesterday, but I'm missing a few items, so I have some shopping to do. :)

Alex So glad to hear you are safe! I hope your power comes back on very soon, I can't imagine how hot and miserable you must be feeling right now without the air!
Family Visiting Dh's family lives in the area and I told DH we are not calling them to tell them we're even at the hospital until Noah is born and we've had plenty of bonding time and a chance to recoup, before they all come over and visit us. I am worried about having them at our house the first week a lot and I'm hoping they will not plan on coming by whenever to sit around and hold the baby all the time. That's my worst fear, cause I know I'm going to be pretty darn protective and want him all to myself I think! My family lives 12 hours away and are planning on coming up after we notify him he's been born...I want them here, but yet I know they'll be here for a week and will be at our house all the time (hotel at night since we have a small house)...I don't know if I can deal with all that. I also have a friend who wants to come down and STAY WITH US in August and I am going to have to tell her "NO" - we are going to need all the down-time we can get as just me-DH-and-baby. It is stressing me out to think of all that might be happening our first few days home with the baby. I'm right there with y'all it looks like!

Alex - Happy to hear you all survived, and with minimal damage! Phew!
Leslie - That is definitely what I had - my belly would get as hard as a rock. I couldn't poke it or jiggle it like I normally can. There was no give. And then it would pass. But they weren't irregular at all last night. Today they are more sporadic, but still not painful.
QOTD - This is a tough one. My family lives about 20 minutes away from us, but husband's family is about 4 hours. I know they plan on coming out for the birth, but I really hope that they don't plan on staying with us. I think that would just be too hard with a newborn at home. I've let DH know how I feel and he agrees, but we haven't mentioned anything to them. We are just hoping that they would know better than to expect to stay with us right off the bat. I told DH he will have to say something though if they come lugging all their bags up to our front door!
As for my family, I'll probably have to beat them away a bit too, but it's much easier for me to be assertive with my own family! They know that they are not staying over, even though my mom would jump at the chance. But I've explained how I feel and they are respecting our wishes and just told us that they will be there if and when we need them, no matter what time of day. Good parents! :)

Ellyn, PEPCID!!! It has solved all of my problems. I cannot recommend it enough!
Alex, I am so glad you are okay! I was wondering about you earlier, so thank you for checking in!
Carla, sounds like you are going to definitely be one of the first ones to deliver!:D
After the QOTD and talking to Sal about it, I bit the bullet and emailed my mom to see if she's planning to come the week I deliver or the week after. I only asked the question, didn't go into details. I'm so afraid I'm going to hurt her feelings by telling her that we'd prefer she came the week after. ugh. Wish me luck that she says she is planning on coming the week after!
And after getting the balls up to send that email, I emailed HR to find out if I need a dr's note to start my maternity leave early. Wish me luck on that one, too! lol

Good news, Good news!
I just got back from my dr. appt. I am 1 cm dilated, which doens't mean much, but I was only 1-2 cm at 41 weeks with Scotty. So it is huge progress to me. I also learned that with second babies you don't thin as early as you do with your first. My cervix isn't firm but it isn't mushy either, so I am right in btw. I am still a bit long but I am only 36 weeks. I am measuring right on and by feel she said he is in the high 6lbs right now. She said she doens't see him being as big as Scotty, 9lbs 6oz, but maybe high 8lbs. YAY for me! I had my culture test today as well so we will get the results next appt. Baby is also head down, so all fears of him being breeched are gone. I also didn't know that most 2nd babies don't engage as early as first ones do. Ok so signing off from cloud 9 right now... :D
I will catch up with everyone in a little while.

Alex- Glad you are safe and it is good to hear from you
Melissa- Do we have the same inlaws??? I haven't spoken to my MIL for months, close to a year. She is an overbearing, rude person. Matt talks to her about once a month when she needs something. When I had Scotty she was so pushy and tried to be in on everything and not let me enjoy being a new mother. She would bring us dinner once I got home just to come hog the baby, it wasn't that she was doing it to try and help out. She is very hard to explain and very hard to be around. I don't know what to expect once I have this baby since we don't talk. I am sure I am in for it and I wish it were something I didn't have to worry about.
I too need to pack my hosp bag, I am really slacking. I just think that if I am really ready, which I am one of those over prepared people, that I will go late again.

So you have a MIL from Hell too? I'm sorry, really really sorry. When I sit down at the computer to describe my MIL/IL's I go blank. I REALLY don't want a repeat of what happend with them when Drew was born. Why do IL's have to make life so miserable?

Its so funny you should post this. I just sat down after cleaning up a "cake" Drew just made in Evan's room. The ingrediants, you ask? Baby powder and baby lotion. He was being way too quiet and I found him. Apparently, a nap does not reduce the destruction caused by my child. He had a 3 hour nap this afternoon. Someone forgot to give him the memo that my Mom bought a pie for dessert, we didn't need a cake too!

Ahhhh, the memories of what a toddler can accomplish with just a little bit of time alone.... ;) When Brooklyn was just shy of 2 years old, she and her brother (who was almost 4) were sleeping in my bed while I was visiting with my best friend downstairs - or so I thought. She went to tuck them in before leaving, and when she opened the door, all I heard was "Oh....my....God...." and caught this overpowering scent of nailpolish.
They had opened nearly thirty bottles of nailpolish in various colors, poured them all over Brooklyn like fingerpaints, and then she laid on her back and made "snow angels" on my bedspread. It was soaked into my mattress, through my sheets, in her hair, and all over her face, arms, torso, and legs. It took 2 days to get it all off.
However, that's the only truly atrocious thing they've ever done. And they're lucky. ;)

Carla Too funny! That's true blackmail material.
Leslie My understanding is this: hospitals like to hook you up to an IV early, so that they can keep you hydrated AND if you need to go into surgery, etc. they already have a vein "open". BUT it doesn't mean that you have to have it for an hour before you have an Epi - not from my forum informational. The two don't necessarily have much to do with each other, since the epi goes in your back. They use the IV vein, maybe, to give you narcotics. I think you'd only have to wait if you were REALLY dehydrated because that makes your veins shrink. At least that's the way I understand it.
I'm having a crappy day. Work has presented plenty of issues - none that I can't handle, but still. Baby girl literally did a dance recital for 1 1/2 hour this afternoon! I am tired of ........well, just being upright. I can't wait until Friday so I can leave this place. Yet, I'm not sure I'll be that much better just being at home (though being in pj's would be nice). I'm just cranky. Have been since last night, when I couldn't get comfortable at all. Ggrr.
LeslieR
07-12-2005, 04:15 PM
Darrien, that's kind of what confused me. I mean, I could see if I was dehydrated then getting an IV. But why would they give you one before your epi? I don't know how many times that woman asked if we had questions and I just sat there like a lump. lol I'll have to bring it up next week.
I hear you on being crabby. I am SO SICK of work. ugh. I'm tired, my back hurts, and I have NO patience whatsoever. grrrr.
Sal just called me from home and said there was a message on the machine from the dr's office-it was a nurse and she said 'don't worry, it's good news.' I'm assuming I passed the GBS test. I can't imagine what else it could be. Surely my dr didn't make a mistake and I am actually dialated. :p
And in the not so good news department, my mom replied to my email saying she was planning on coming after we get home from the hospital. ugh. I don't know what to say-I don't blame her for being excited and wanting to be here. I know it's her first grandchild and all that. How do I get up the balls to ask her if she could wait a few days so that we can get settled and bond as a family before she comes??? I'm such a wuss. :o

07-12-2005, 04:24 PM
Leslie, they give the IV because there is quite often a drop in your blood pressure associated with your epidural, so they try to hydrate you to combat that. But - I don't remember if they give it to you beforehand or not....something to ask at your next appointment (and I'm putting it on my list to ask in two weeks as well, because I forgot to ask about a heparine or saline lock today - doh!).
I found out today that I will have to have fetal monitoring pretty much from the moment I step inside the hospital, because this is a VBAC. But - I will still be mobile to a degree - I won't be able to go for a walk, but I will be able to move around the hospital room as far as the cord will reach (as the doctor put it). So that means I can still bring my birthing ball - in fact, she seemed pretty positive when I mentioned it. That made me very happy!
We also talked about my epidural - I'd like to hold off on getting it as long as I possibly can, without waiting too long and ending up not being able to get one. So we've decided that 6 will be the magic number (cm) - at which point I will be dragging the anesthesiologist in by the scruff of his neck if I have to. :p
Hey, something just occurred to me. I'm Canadian, so we use the metric system for everything. But the US uses the Imperial system of measurement, right? So why do you measure dilation in cm? Weird!

You know what? I think you should just talk to her about it (as tough as that sounds) - chances are she could be assuming that you'll NEED her there, or are expecting her there to help you out, especially since this is your first baby. She could just be assuming that you're going to need some help, or that you'll be intimidated on your own. If you explain it to her nicely, there's no reason she should be upset by it - I think we're all entitled to some quiet bonding time with our newly expanded families, and our own parents should respect that. If they don't, that is unfortunate, but not your responsibility to bear, KWIM?

Holly molly!!!
such good news...babies are def.coming soon! :D :D :D
Carla, Tracy you are both doing so good too!!! Your babies are going to be here soon! How fun!
I just wanted to say thanks girls for the IL's input. Makes me feel better to see that I'm not alone being in this kind of situation. I don,t know how we'll handle the situation, but as I said, this is the part that truly scares me. As Sonya says, I don,t feel like being stuck in an IL situation, I'll have other things to take care of...
Feeling tired tonight, I have to admit, that I had a big day today. So I'm signing off for the night.
Have a great evening!

Back from a very long hot walk....I begged the baby the whole time to do something in there. I hope he listened!
Leslie My one SIL had to have two IV bags emptied before they would give her an epi. I think that maybe that had run one with me, but they called for the anesthesiologist before it was even half way complete, so it wasn't like the epi and the IV were related, in my case. I think it depends on your Dr. I would definatly ask about it.

Carla, you're so right. I was just writing in my LJ about it and I realized that I can't worry about her getting her feelings hurt. It's not about her. I want her here very much-just not right away. :p I need to suck it up and just tell her the truth. Tomorrow. lmao!

Try as I might I just can't keep up ;)
Val I am so sorry about your inlaws, last night our BF'ing teacher went through this whole aweful senario with everything you mentioned, and she talked about how horrible this can be for a new mom, especially one that is sleep deprived and tired. I hadn't really given this much thought both of our families live about 30 minutes away and both would like to be called when we go into labor and I am sure they will be at the hospital. The good thing is that during delivery my hospital has a strict policy of only letting 2 people in the L&D room (must be the same 2 people) the entire time.
Neither of our families is very overbearing so I don't expect for them to hang around too much. It is the first grandchild so I expect them to be excited to see him and go ga ga over him the first day but then I am expecting them to come by every once in a while. DH will be home for two weeks so he will be my primary source of help
Leslie When I went in for my hospital tour the anesthesiologist came in to talk to us, he said if I remember correctly that they prep you for an IV, and if you decide to go with epidiral, or in the case of an emergency C-section, your already set, and then they do give you and IV but that they only need to start it about 15 to 20 minutes prior. He did also mention that you can't get out of an IV if you go with and epideral he told us why but I forget know.

I still may get a shower. My friend is still determined, although I don't know when. She is going to talk to my mom. I am kind of excited. We really just need more clothes and random stuff like that which is cool. Mainly socks and bibs and baby nail clippers and all that kind of stuff.

IV We were told that if we planned to have an epidural, we needed to plan on an IV. It will be "started" as soon as I check in. However, nothing will be hooked up to it until right before we have the epidural. It's a "just in case" scenario.
In-laws I feel so sorry for those of you with in-law problems. Unfortunately, my problems come with my own mother. :o While she means well, and would never intentionally hurt anyone, she just tries to hard - wants to be too involved - and gets her feelings hurt very, very easily. I hear you all on the parents' wanting to be there issue....get this: did you know you can actually still buy standby plane tickets? Well, my mother has already bought hers, and already has her suitcase in the car! I haven't even packed my hospital bag yet!!
I know she'll be great help when she's here, and I would never deny her these first weeks with her first grandbaby, but I am worried about the tension...we don't have the easiest relationship, and she and DH are less than chummy. Today is the day when we'll totally be ready for baby! :D (or so I imagine I guess! :p ) We had one piece of "furniture" missing, (aka a matress which is kinda nice to have a baby sleeping on), and I'll be out to get it around 12. I'll finally be able to make Baby's bed, and take pics. I'll try to finish my film (because Nikon is REALLY slow on digital repair...) and have it developped so that I can show you the "nearly" final product. There is no decorations or super cute things in his room, just the essential, but I love it!
After that, we'll just miss a baby :p and an official name mind you!(haven't totally made up our minds yet)
I had the weirdess dream last night, I dreamt that my water broke. It was the first time that I had a dream about getting into labor. And it was weird because it was like if it was happening right then while I was sleeping?!?!Totally felt real! Maybe it has something to do with a post I saw last night from a girl on another board. On monday, she too had her weekly, and was 2 cm dilated, and 80% effaced...and her doc had told her that she wouldn't get to friday with a cervix that thin. Well, turn out that she went into labor last night! WTF???I'm 75% efface...but still no regular contractions (how does my body works???) I was discussing this with DH before falling asleep, and he felt like he needed to go to the office earlier today...just to clean up some stuff... ;) I guess he is starting to feel it too!
Mickey&B That is great that the hospital isn,t letting more then X person going into the room. I truly think that it can get exhausting to have tons of visitor all day long, plus a newborn, plus the delivery pains...
Kymba You are good to allow this! I would never be able to have somebody all the time with me for a whole month. War would be near!
Leslie I'm glad that you decided to talk to your mom. I think it is a much better time to talk to her now then getting in a fight with her once baby is here! Good luck, I hope you'll settle this just like you want.
As far as IV, it really depend son your doc, and your situation. But no matter what, if you have an epi, you'll have an IV, wheter you doc decides to give it a bit beforehand or not. As somebody mentionned, the epi is often associated with decreased blood pressure, so they need to compensate with fluids. (and they want to keep a vein open in case of an emergency) But the fact that they put it before or not depends on tons of things (are you dehydrated, do you have already a low blood pressure, any other problems...) Don't worry, if you need an emergency c-section, they won't bother to hook you up one one before, if you are really dehydrated, or your blood pressure is low, they have other way to make it go up again faster...
Lora Nope not a fan of this, but I have my fair share when Hockey season begins...(no need to say that Fiston will be an hockey addict!)

My Dr. called me this morning to let me know that she looked at my U/S from Monday. She told me something I didn't already know...he's big! No way?
She wants me to have another U/S on Aug 1st, the day before my induction, to check his size again. She said if he's anywhere near 10lbs then we'll have to seriously talk about our "options". However, she was very conscious to tell me that he could slow down in the next couple of weeks or that the U/S could be off in general. I thought that was nice because it demonstrated that she wasn't rushing into anything. I'm still hoping to go into labor on my own between now and then. That would be the best case scenario!

Wow - how exciting - a baby on the way!!!
I had my 35 week appointment this morning. All looking good - b/p 106/60, belly measuring right on at 35 cm, and a little sugar in the urine - attributed to my breakfast bar. Good news is the baby's head is down and h/b good - initially 120, but rose to 156 when giggled.
Was told to get my bags packed - from 36 weeks onwards, they don't halt labour.
I had swollen feet and ankles last night - the worst it has been (which really wasn't bad compared to some I have seen). They weren't worried about it at all and I was told just to make sure I drank tons and moved around during the day rather than kept sitting down constantly.

I couldn't have said it better myself! lol Sounds like your dr is on top of things. I wonder what she means by "options"? Like, if he's 10lbs, she's going to recommend a c-section instead of letting you labor?
Yes, she mentioned the dreaded C-Section. Her exact words were that she wouldn't feel comfortable with me being induced with such a large baby, knowing that his size will increase the chances of the induction failing. Not saying that it definetly would, but if anything would make it more likely, this would. I'm not considering this at all at this point. I want to have this baby my own way. But that's not to say that I won't change my mind on that day, under those circumstances.

Scared about Labor Are you kidding me, I used to love to watch all those laboring Discovery Health and TLC shoes now they just make me cry and freak me out even more. It's like being on an emotional rollercoaster last night I was thinking Yeah only 4 1/2 more weeks, possibly sooner then I realized that, that meant that I could be in the hospital in labor anywhere from 2 to 5 weeks which all of a sudden freaked me out!!!

WOW! I can't believe we already have a mom in (possible) labor - and it's not one of the moms we *thought* would go first! What an awesome surprise! :) :) :)
QOTD: Leg Cramps/Foot Cramps - Is anybody experiencing these when they sleep? I woke up this morning in excruciating pain - I had a cramp in my right calf that was so severe, it was curling my foot underneath, and I couldn't do anything about it. I woke up DH, and he was trying to rub it, but it was so painful to the touch, I almost kicked him. ;) Does anybody know if there is something I should be eating (ie. is this a deficiency of some sort?) that would help to minimize this? Or am I not drinking enough water?
myhoney
07-13-2005, 10:04 AM
Stacy - yeah, it's safe to say I'm scared of labor. Just cause I don't really know what to expect. Except for pain. :p And, I'm with you on holding your legs up. I have a *thing* about people touching the bottoms of my feet. They are very ticklish. In class, the instructor told us that the nurses will push your legs up via your feet, and I just looked at DH like, that is so not going to be a good scene. That's the part I'm really dreading.
Leg cramps - oh yeah! Got a good charley horse last week, and the back of my right thigh is teasing me. It feels like it's going to cramp at any minute. Bananas are usually good for cramps (lots of potassium). I have also increased my fluid intake, and haven't had as many cramps, but have had to get up all night to pee. It's kind of a no win situation!

My friend Jennifer had a baby girl on July 1st and she just emailed me a list of things I thought were great to pass along to everyone here.
_____________________________
Michelle,
I thought I would share some things you may want to know. And Hope I'm sending it to you for future reference.
First of all, are you planning on breastfeeding? if you are go ahead and buy some cream called lansinoh. It is in a purple tube. It feels great on sore nipples. Also while in the hospital ask for the gel patches. They are gel that fit over your nipple and aerola. I put them in the freezer when I'm nursing and then put them back on. The hospital only givesyou one pack, so ask for another one to go home with you. They last for a week. If it takes long for your milk to come in these will be a life saver. I mean life saver.
Wear the hospital underwear., I wore it two days after I came home as well. You can wash them out. They are ugly as sin, but you do not need to wear something tight. also you may want to buy or find some clothes that are not tight fitting around you crotch area. definitely cotton. I had brooke buy me some pants at target two sizes bigger. I wore the same pants to and from the hosptial. I left looking like I was 6-7 months pregnant. it goes down quickly, but still. YOu want loose clothing. I'm still wearing a lot of maternity shirts, b/c I don't look so big in them.I have already lost 26 pounds. It fluctuates during the day, but still around 26 pounds. My stomach is getting flabby. The stretch marks looks atrocious and itch badly. My tummy is shrinking I guess. I'm just glad I'm smaller though. If you have hemmorroids ask for medicine. And ask what all you need to do. If they will give you a sitz bath at the hospital and can you take it home with you.
And ask for the ice packs sanitary napkins at the hospital and make sure you take a few home with you. They are a wonderful invention.
You may want some long sleeved layette gowns with the hands where you can flip it over so they cannot scratch themselves. I has her wear those in the hospital b/c you are still trying to regulate her temperature and she wears them when she sleeps. I only had 3 and my mom had to go buy some more at JCpenney's b/c I was washing clothes daily. I still am. she was a 8 pound baby but the only diapers that fit well are the huggies up to 10 pounds. You may want to grab a pack now. I had to send someone out for some. The others swallowed her even though they say newborn and she was wetting through them and shitting everwhere. Not fun.
get phillip to help as much as possible.
if you cry a lot dont' worry, Mine went away. I can still cry at the drop of a hat, but I'm not as emotional as before. Just remember you have a surge of hormones racing through your body.
Keep some snacks around the house like crackers, nabs, etc. You will need to eat while nursing sometimes in the middle of the night or when taking your motrin. You don't have the energy to fix something and often phillip will be sleeping. you need something quick and easy. nabs work for me. You will be starving after you deliver. I was for the first few days. I'm not anymore now.
I'm sure I'll think of more to tell you. I'llwrite later on today.
Oh yeah, if you have a cd player put one in her nursery and buy a lullaby CD. Molly is content listening to it. I can actually walk around the house and do a few things and she is wide awake listening to it. She is cute. My mom got that for me.
Also, molly will not take a pacifier from me,but she will from everyone else. so don't give up and have phillip keep trying. it gives your nipples a little rest.
and I know I'm saying lots of bad things, but it is the best experience in the world. Molly is precious and I don't mind the lack of sleep.

potatoes are also high in potassium - What else I do is stretch out my calves much more now. I find if I EVER do a morning stretch with my toes pointed a Charley Horse is in my future IT BLOWS!
OH MY GOSH I AM SO SCARED - I don't think you people understand my ass is shaking over here. I had to learn to deliver a baby at 16 and that was the best darn BC, but shit now that it is close. HOLY COW! YEA!!! Someone's on their way to being a momma!!! (Of course, I still need to go sleuth and figure out who - I'm sad its not me! :( But, of course, very exctied for whomever it is!!!)
I am feeling very yucky today. I had a rough night last night, and feel just poopy today - my stomach is nauseous and I want to just curl up in the corner of the bathroom and either throw up or fall asleep. I'm glad I'm going to the doc in an hour. I went for a really long, nice walk last night, but don't think it was very productive. I've had the occasional contraction since, but that's not new. DH and I went in to get pre-registered at the hospital yesterday. It is nice to get one more thing checked off the "to do" list.
Hmmm - off to try to eat a little something and see if that helps me feel better. Sorry no SOs right now. :(
except for one: Melissa and Carla I can't beleive the stories of your toddlers!! :) I know we've escaped giant disaster a few times...yesterday, when I went to spring Tallie, she was stripped down to her pull up, standing on her stool, looking in her mirror, stuffing paper up her nose. Yes - quiet=trouble!!

I am not waking up rolling around trying not scream anyway. Although I would like to know how funny I looked rolling around.

My Dad took pictures of Drew last night in all his powder glory. I'll should figure out how to post pics in my LJ and share them with y'all. The one thing that was good about our incident was that Drew & the powder smelled so good. That sweet baby smell!
LOL It does look like just about everyone is in here. I'm envisioning a CC Mama's hospital waiting room. Biting our nails, pacing, bumping into each other because there's no space left with all of us preggo's in the same room. Ah...good times!

QOTD~Scared about birth?? Um yeah, still scared, and even more scared after I had to watch about 5 birth videos at our childbrith class this weekend...I seriously think I was the only one watching through my fingers over my face!! (Wait until you get to watch those stac~ talk about frightening!) My only concellation is that I don't have to watch myself give birth, so maybe I will be blissfully in pain so much I dont realize what is going on.
And If someone rolls a mirror into my vision I'm gonna break it!
Side story~ Our friends who have a 22 month old told us their birth story and the dad about died when the nurses looked at him and told him to "hook a leg" to help give his wife resistance. He was just about face ot face with her you know what and hte babies head. I told Brent if he is asked to hook a leg to run away! I seriously can't imagine that!
QOTD~Leg cramps?? Yup, I have them and they are bad...it seems like days when I drink a ton and also have a bit of caffine they are better. Bananas were good when I ran track, but not sure they are helping now!

I'm LMAO at you gals today! Such funny stories...hell I do not want anyone seeing my hoohoo either Stacy and I'll break any camcorder that gets within an arms length of me! And I'll be pitching bedpans and ice chips and cups at it if it's a long distance shot!
Leg Cramps I get them too randomly, every now and then. I've heard it is low potassium and low calcium, so I always drink milk and stay hydrated with lots of water! I also used to make them WORSE by stretching my leg muscle out by pointing my toes...come to find out that is NOT the move to make. So if I feel any tenseness there, I flex my foot out, heel forward and that helps avoid it spazzing up. I know it sucks...hope it gets better soon for you!!
Scared of Labor Right now I'm feeling pretty darn ready to go, come what may. But there have been times I am really worried and anxious about everything. I'm trying to be openminded about it...all I want is a healthy baby and for us both to come out of this as un-traumatized as possible! But part of me is going to be disappointed if I cave and get meds, or end up with a C-section, etc. Mostly I just wanted to GO INTO LABOR and get the ball rolling so to speak. ;) (I know...I have a few more weeks!) It is SO FREAKING EXCITING that we will have a baby annoucement here shortly!...it looks like!
About shout outs I know it is hard for me to keep up with the SOs so I wanted y'all to know that I will not be offended if I don't get a SO...we are all crazy preggos (I should just speak for myself I suppose! ha) so maybe we should all fight the system ;) !

Scared about Labor? Oh hell ya. Well, more scared actually of the WHEN I will go into labor, and HOW I will get to the hospital. Once Im there, I imagine I will just go with the flow. I AM terrified of saying - yeah, lets go ahead with a vaginal delivery and then delivering the first baby that way, and not being able to get the second baby out and ending up with a c/s for him! I do not want to recover from both!
And no way in hell I want anyone down there looking at my hoo-hoo. And no mirrors for me. Experiencing birth is enough for me, I don't need to see my privates stretched and ripped. DH declines that part also, LOL.
I suppose Im actually more scared about what will happen when we bring them home. Everyone says take all the help I can get, but Im afraid of being overwhelmed with people just wanting to gawk at babies and not really helping.
leg cramps I eat a lot of bananas now, and I no longer get leg cramps.

OMG!!! This is so exciting. It's just what I needed to hear, since I woke up convinced that I was going to be pg forever! I have 3 weeks to go, but I haven't had more than a few BH and no real contractions whatsoever. DH now insists on a walk when he gets home from work, which I love since the weather is nice and we get to catch up. But I keep hoping to see this girl drop a bit and/or feel some contrax and nothing is happening. Argh!
We did managed to do some things around the house, though. We moved the coffee table to against the wall, and put down a cute and cushiony baby flooring (the puzzle piece flooring). We also opened the co-sleeper and put that together. We have most of our things together, though we need to go to BRU on Saturday to buy the essentials we didn't get through showers.
This girl is still moving like she's performing interpretive dance. I am constantly trying to breathe though her movements. What irritates me is that everyone says things like, "you want her out now, but in a couple of weeks, you'll wish she was back in there". I understand being nostalgic about having a baby inside you, but NO I WON'T. I'll be happy to have my daughter.
Can you tell that I'm sick of talking to people?? :p I get on an elevator with people, esp. women, and I look at the ceiling and pray they don't start talking and asking me questions. I don't have the capacity to chit-chat anymore.

Val, I haven't figured out if I'm really having them yet or not. I have had the menstrual like cramps feeling several times, but haven't noticed if my belly got hard. Next time I feel like that I'm going to be sure I put my hands on my belly to see if it's hard or not! In all honesty (and this goes along with my previous post about Sal), I don't feel like anything is going to happen any time soon. I really feel like I'm going to be pregnant like this for a while. Do those of you who we thought were close or those of you who are having BH and what not have a sense that 'something' is happening or going to happen? I'm usually pretty intuitive, so I would think I'd get some kind of hint, but I can safely say that I have no hints or clues going on here. Just business as usual!

Leslie As far as I was concerned prior to my last OB visit, I was sure these BH's were doing something. I was really bummed to find out that my cervix was so high that she couldn't even reach it.
So I thought I knew but it turns out I didn't. Since then I have been paying attention to my BH's, mostly because it's impossible to ignore them, but I don't give them too much credit for helping to ripen my cervix.

TMI ALERT!!
Does anyone think they are losing their mucus plug...(God I hate that term!)
I thought you lost it when you began to dialate, and since I'm already 2+cm I thought mine must have been long gone, but TMI ALERT!! last night I had lots of discharge...nothing but clear stuff but it made me wonder if I still have plug to lose?

Ahh, the MP (yes I will never spell it out and call it what it is, GROSS WORD!!)... my mom last night said that she never lost hers that she knew of, so I bet often times it isn't as noticeable as you think it may be. Maybe you did lose yours (or some of it!) Jennifer. I've mainly heard it looks like um, snot, also a not-nice-word. Sometimes has blood, but maybe it doesn't have to have any at all, either.
TMI ...I normally don't have much CM, but one day I had a lot of the creamy CM. I wonder if that is a sign of anything. Hmm.

I can't believe the first baby might be coming. So exciting!
I don't think I've had BH yet, at least none that are really noticible. Sometimes the belly does seem super hard though.
Question - Last night I got a pretty bad pain on my right side under the belly. I had to stop making dinner and sit down for a while. It eventually went away, but kind of freaked me out. The only thing I could think of it being was round ligament pain - but would I still be getting those this late?

Thanks girls. I've been feeling things going on down there, but i'm having a hard time identifying them...
Jennifer Since yetserday or maybe the day before, I've been having more discharge then usual. But mine too is clear. At some point...TMI(!) it was more watery yesterday, but most of the time it looks like jelly. I asked myself the same thing, as far as what it should be looking like, but I thought there would be blood, or discharge of another color, so I really don't know! But I really thought I would know for sure.
And I also don,t know if you loose it right away after starting to dilate...
So many questions!
Bumper pads Ok, so I made baby's bed. And after being all done, and attaching the freaking bumper pad, I realised that I had forgotten to put the matress cover under the sheet. Can I tell you it is a PITA to remove the sheet, and add a matress cover with a freaking border on??? What did we say about this, should we put the pad or not??? While I was trying to put the matress cover on, I could just picture myself at 2 in the morning, with a serious lack of sleep trying to change the bad, and I wasn't too sure if I wanted to have this on! Nice for pictures though!

MP question!! Some ladies lose it long before labor and some never do. I lost my as my labor started and it was totally obvious what it was. There was no question in my mind. TMI!!!! It came out in a glob when I wiped. It was a snotty consistancy and had traces of blood in it. My labor contrax started within an hour of losing it.
So far, I've had some watery/clear/creamy discharge but no plug yet.
Something you have to be aware of is that you can lose it all at once or in pieces at a time. Mostly, I really think you will know it when it happens.

Here's some info I found on the MP
Mucus Plug: Bloody Show
Throughout pregnancy a mucus plug blocks the opening to the cervix to prevent bacteria from entering. Before labor, this mucus plug is expelled so that the cervix can open to allow the baby to pass through to prepare for delivery.
How soon after my mucus plug passes will labor begin?
Passing a mucus plug is a sign that your cervix is dilating and your body is starting to prepare for birth. Labor could be hours, days, or even weeks away as the cervix gradually opens over time.
What does a mucus plug look like?
A mucus plug may be clear, slightly pink or blood tinged in color. It may be stringy mucus or sticky discharge. Some women may not even notice the loss of their mucus plug because there is already so much vaginal discharge during pregnancy.

The posts today are cracking me up! Its probably a good thing we are all scattered across two countries, as, if we were all in the same place, it'd be a heck of a gathering! :D
I'm back from the doc and I'm happy to say, he made me smile! Well, he made me cringe and almost deck him, too, but at least he made me happy for a bit. I've made some progress - I'm 2-3 cm dialated and about 70% effaced. He said he could feel the baby's head  and I'm hoping all the digging around he was doing will be as productive as when he "mixed things up" for me with Tallie. He told me that he won't let me go past 38 weeks, since the baby is so big, so at the most, I have 2 weeks left!!! And, I'll definately have a July baby - YEA!! :D Of course, I'd be happy to have a July 14th baby...but we'll have to see.
Will was totally cracking up - he said from where he was sitting, as I was lying on the table, he could totally see the baby's butt sticking out of my belly! I said, "no kidding...try carrying that around all the time!" - he just thought it was hilarious. I noticed, during my exam, how big she has gotten, so I'm a titch worried about going two more weeks, but am also amazed that we have moved from being terrified that she was coming at 29 weeks, to talking about inducing her at 38 weeks.
MP - Sorry, I'm with Sarah...its just too gross to actually call it by its rightful name! Haven't lost mine yet, and I do remember being very certain when I did loose it last time. I've had lots of extra CM discharge the last few weeks, too, and even a little mucosy discharge, but not what I remember from last time. I don't think I lost mine until just before labor started, like the day or two days before.
Off to try to snooze...am hoping we are more successful with Tallie's nap today then we were yesterday! Will definately be back to check for news in a bit! Oh...I friended a bunch of you this morning on LJ - I was checking in on our Aug. Mommies thread so just updated my friend's list at the same time. Just checking in to see if any new NEWS has been posted.
MP-I lost mine around 36 weeks with Scotty and still had to be induced at 41 weeks. I have not lost mine this time, but fingers crossed when I do, I will be on my way to the hospital shortly after. Wishful thinking I know.
Yay Sonya!

Yay!!!! I feel like such a responsible adult right now. I don't remember if I said or not, but I sent my mom and email this morning asking if she wouldn't mind planning on coming a few days after Luke is born. There was more to it than that of course, but that's the short version. She just replied and said that of course she doesn't mind! Phew! I feel so much better now!:D

I cannot believe how many pages this thing has grown just today! Much less since I last posted...And can I just do a happy dance that we're tossing SOs out the window!!! Not that I don't love talking to each of you on a personal level, but damn I cannot. keep. up.
I'm wondering if we'll have any news on our possible FIRST AUG BABY!!!!:D That's SO cool! I can't stand the excitement!!
Very good news Sonya, I see you might be the next to go...course we never can tell with this group I see!
QOTD-Labor - I am terrified of labor, but totally relaxed because of the planned C...WHEW!
QOTD-Cramps - I had plenty of them a few weeks ago, but I just kept buying bananas. I ate one every night before going to bed and usually another one in cereal or sometime during the day. I have since slacked off on the every night thing, but still once in a while.
I believe I still have my MP, and I feel a little queasy & grossed out seeing all the talk of the slime, blech!:p
I don't think I've had any real contrax...just BHC here and there, but they are pretty intense and LOW. I also get the pain in my back-sometimes at the beginning, sometimes during but they always last till the end and OWIE, talk about bad back pain.
I haven't had anyone say anything terribly rude in a while, but I don't leave the house much usually. I think my friends/family know my personality well enough to know I usually fire back.;)
I went to the grocery store last night and while I was checking out, I went over to the bagging area and ran my belly into on of the bag holder thingies. You know, the metal thing with prongs that hold the plastic bags? I got home and told G and he was like, "What'd ya do that for?" Anyone else having problems gauging the distance of the belly???? I don't generally run into things, but sometimes I just BARELY catch myself!!!
I hope everyone's feeling well & that we hear some news soon!!!!

No news yet geez I am dying over here!!
Great news Sonya it looks like you might just be next.
Kim- all the time. I try to squeeze between something like a table and the counter and I realize UMM yeah don't fit anymore
Just got back from my midwife appt, nothing really to report, she did the GBS test which wasn't to bad. We talked about meeting a pediatrician which I have now made an appt for, and we talked about the stabbing pains I had last week she said it sounded a lot like ligament pain, so yes they can happen this late. haven't started to do internals yet so I have no clue if anything is going on down there I'd like to think that something is. Like a lot of you I have had an increase in discharge, but don't think it's my MP as from what I have heard from my friends You Will Know!! eeww.
We made all of my appt for the remainder of my pregnancy which was kinda exciting! Made the last on for August 15th, my due date the nurse shared some of her wishful thinking with me in hopes that if she made the appt I would have to cancel it, as opposed to having to make another one. At this point wishful thinking is all I got :)

Had to share these two comments I received today...probably the best i've gotten yet.
1. "You're really hanging in there well, from the shoulders up you look great!"
2. From a know it all Mom sharing her "wisdom"... "Wow, you have three weeks left? I've heard that the baby gains a pound a day from now until the end. That's going to be a big baby." I did the math. By her logic, my kid would be 27 lbs. I can't wait to give birth to a newborn thats bigger than my toddler.

This just reminded me, the other night G and I were watching TV, I had a pillow on my belly and we were kind of leaning into each others' shoulders. So he goes to get up and puts his hand on the pillow like for leverage...um hello, you're going to smush your baby!! His eyes were like  and he apologized profusely, I just sat there wondering wth he was thinking. I mean even if I wasn't PG, would he still have tried to use me to push himself off the couch?? Shout outs: I was never any good at those anyways, so I'm all for skipping them without any hurt feelings. :D
Mucous Plug: Gawd, I can't even type those two words without thinking "ewwwww". I'm such a juvenile. Anyways, that's how my houseboat trip got cancelled - it was a very snotty-like consistency, and had tinges of blood in it. I'm not sure if I still have more to lose or not - I've been watching like a hawk for any more signs, and think I've lost some more, but without the blood. Keep in mind that leukorrhea, the icky discharge we've been treated to throughout our pregnancies, can get quite heavy near the end, so it might be hard to tell the difference!
With all of this early-baby-arrival talk, I felt compelled to finish picking up the items on my must-have list. That included two nursing bras. Damn, those things are ugly! Comfy though. I bought two from Motherhood. I was going to splurge on the Bravado bras, but I'm glad I didn't - I just don't like these type of bras on my body, so it seems silly to spend any more than what I did.

Wooohooo Janet!!! *waiting on pins and needles*
Carla, I asked my inlaws to give you a shout out when things start happening since they email the world with news like this. I got a reply back that I would have to remind them.
******
Comments:
Since I don't leave the house, I don't get the funky comments. Instead, I get emails and phone calls.
Today, I got emails from my inlaws about the "huge difference in weights" of the babies, and if they are going to induce me soon. Im not even 36 weeks yet, babies DO get bigger than 5/6lbs! First they tell me they are going to be too small, now they are telling me they are too big. LMAO What a way to make a pregnant woman worry.
My mom also has called me yesterday and today, asking if they will induce me since the ultrasound showed their weights so big. Like they are giants or something! I haven't even met with my OB yet, so I don't have a clue what the game-plan is. My grandma called me and said that I should take myself off bedrest and quit taking the terb so they will come. Well, even if I "take myself off bedrest" I wonder what she thinks I'm going to be doing. Running a marathon? LMAO After laying here for so long, and now being so big, its not like I have a lot of energy or endurance (or am comfortable) doing much more than I do every day!
I just think its funny. First, everyone is all pestering about delivering early, now they are pestering me about not delivering soon enough and having big babies. Can't win either way. LOL I know it would be too difficult for them to say something along the lines of "good job" or "what a relief" something! LOL

Ok, I'm putting this in a new post because I don't think that jealousy and gross things such as "plugs" should be associated with the joy of someone in labor!
...but...Is anyone else the slightest bit envious? I feel so bad for even asking, because I am thrilled for Janet, but I wish it were me!
And as for the plug, I thought I was starting to lose pieces of mine, but now I'm wondering if its just an increase in the leukorrhea? Definitely seeing some sort of stuff after peeing... tmi, I know...

Anyone else having problems gauging the distance of the belly????
I have a hard time fitting into some bathroom stalls, if they’re the really small ones. I keep hitting my belly with the door. I guess I should start going to the handicap stalls.
Kim – your poor belly. My cat Tamara jumped on mine the other night and that was no fun.

Have you girls decided what your baby will wear for his/her coming home outift?
I have three outfits picked out, 3 size ranges although I suppose I can take the preemies out now. LOL
For preemies (under 5lbs), I have very few clothes so I packed 2 truck outfits that my SIL gave us. They aren't itty bitty cutsie things, but its all we had for preemie and I didn't want to buy more not knowing if they would be in that size at all.
For newborn size (5-7lbs), I have plain blue onsies and my great-grandmothers crocheted little sweaters that were made for my brothers.
For bigger baby size (7+lbs) I have to sleep and plays packed, they are plain white Carters with 3 animals down the right side. I may change these outfits out today since there is a likely-hood they actually be in this size. If I do, we have matching light blue rompers with white shirts.
I also packed matching receiving blankets that should go with all three outfits.
********
Is anyone else starting to time contractions at night? I've been having frequent ones, but they haven't become regular. Last night - the 9:00 hour for example, was:
9:32, 9:40, 9:46, 9:51, 10:06, 10:16, 10:17, 10:21, 10:27
These were the contractions that sort of make it hard to breath, definately hard to stand and were accompanied with light PMS-type cramps. But I could talk though them with no problem and they never established a regular pattern. They went away sometime in the night.
I have my weekly NST today, Im wondering if this appointment is going to bring any changes: either orders for me to go off bedrest and start walking to bring on more contractions (standing alone brings them on), go off terbutaline (which is suppose to calm the uterus), or just head down to the hospital! Or none of thee above. LOL Im sure its probably at least #2 - go off terb (whaaa!!! I like terb! It makes the contractions back off!).

But I could talk though them with no problem
Tina This reminds me of what I remember happening during my labor. The Dr stressed to me that I should call them once my contractions were between 4-6 minutes apart AND when I couldn't talk through the contractions. I never once got to the point when I couldn't talk through them. I kept refusing to call the Dr until I couldn't. MIke followed me around the house begging me to call the Dr. and I kept refusing because I thought they would tell me it wasn't time. Finally he called them himself and they told him to get me in there soon. But this time my contrax were 2-3 minutes apart and regular and we had an hour drive in rush hour traffic. Not fun!
My point is, not everyone's body reacts the same way. Trust that you will know when your in labor and don't necessarily rely on the Dr.'s blanket indicators, your situation and body just may be different.

Melissa Drew is SO cute! I love love love the "naughty toddler" pictures! Hehe! His expression in the last one is priceless.
Tina Can't wait to hear the results of your NST! Your contrax schedule sounds promising! Maybe you are next! ;)
Coming Home Outfits
I think I'm going to pack a white onesie polo top with yellow and navy stripes across the chest with "surf classic" in small type on one side. There is also a GAP navy onesie with an embroidered golden teddy bear on one side that we like, too.
I bet I will change my mind yet again, however, what with the shower this weekend and my last ditch shopping effort before he arrives. :)

Trust that you will know when your in labor and don't necessarily rely on the Dr.'s blanket indicators, your situation and body just may be different.
Thats it for me, I didn't really feel like it could be "it". I get contractions on and off, and usually at night they are worse/more frequent. Last night, I figured they were more frequent because I had been standing for about 10-15 minutes earlier in the evening (like an hour before I started timing).
But then again, I don't want to dismiss what might be labor and end up deliving on the way there. LMAO

Oh, and Im still getting them, but eh, its really early in the morning and I haven't drank anything yet today, nor have I taken my terb. LOL But they are mild ones - just rock hard belly stuff.
(tee-hee...I just had to make one more post so I could be Way To Cool instead of Too Cool To Care. LMAO)

Melissa, those pictures of Drew are priceless. I had to show them to Sal and he was cracking up!
I don't know what else I was going to post about, I am so tired I can't even think straight. :( I would love to just call in sick and go back to bed, but we are dropping my car off to get cleaned this morning (yay!). I may have Sal come pick me up early, though. There's no way I'm going to make it 'til 8.

Gah! We still can't change the titles on our threads. I just PM'ed a mod to change it for us to say 'Welcome Anders!'.

Tina!! No need to worry! Post or not, your still Way to Cool to me!
I was tracking my BH's last week some time and they were about 14 minutes apart. Not even promising!
Leslie I LMAO when I look at the pics, but I can promise you I wasn't laughing the other night

I think we have all agreed that this is TMI, but I have to share. I lost a bit of my MP this morning and I was having irregular contractions last night like TINA. I was so crampy, it felt like someone was literally ringing and pulling my insides apart. I hope that means I am making progress down below. Off to the store and I will check in after while.

Congrats Janet and Welcome to the world Anders!
Melissa – Those pictures are priceless! lol! Thanks for sharing!
Michelle – I’m so glad you asked. I didn’t realize that you were cubanone! I actually thought I lost my labor buddy in the move from WC. My email is lballone@yahoo.com I’ve got you on the list I gave my husband for when he emails out updates. :)
Coming Home Outfit – I think we decided on using this for our coming home outfit. Husband is a big republican, so he loves the elephant! There’s also a matching stripped hat that goes with it.

As for me, I had my weekly checkup today. All is well. I asked the doctor what their policy is on letting moms go over their duedate and he said “no more than 2 weeks.” He then proceeded to tell me to expect to be a little late at least, as most first time moms are. Well, I just broke down. Not that he told me anything I didn’t know, but I am just so ready to not be pregnant anymore! I can’t imagine going another month! ugh!

Great news, Tracy! Something is definitely happening. Wow, babies are rocking and rolling (literally and figuratively!) now!
Lori Ugh, no one can tell you for sure you'll go late! Everyone tells me that too. :p I say, the baby will come when he wants and if I have anything to do with it, I'll be doing everything I can to safely prompt him out a bit sooner! We will ALL not be pregnant in a matter of weeks - how awesome will that be?

Lori, I agree with Sarah. You never know what will happen. My mom went 3 weeks early with her first, and my MIL went 2 weeks early with DH (her first). In fact, MIL's doctor told her she was having a small 7lb girl, who they decided to name Jennifer Lynn. She actually had 9lb 6oz DH, Joseph Patrick. Sometimes, doctors are as wrong as the rest of us! Although, I do enjoy calling DH Jennifer Lynn on occassion! ;)
ETA: Given the family history, I'm secretly not expecting to make it full term! Crossing my fingers!

Ok I'm a real loser to post so much in a row.
I forgot to update with my appointment from last night. Nothing too exciting. I told my MW all about the cramping and pressure going on down there and she just said she would check me next week at my first *WEEKLY* appointment. I was sort of hoping she'd check last night, but oh well. My BP was normal (has been the exact same the last 3 visits), but I gained 4 pounds in 2 weeks!! I think it was all water weight. Ha. So I'm up to 17 pounds total. Baby's hb was 140 and caught up from measuring 31 weeks to 34 weeks. Yay. She estimates him to be 5 pounds right now and says I will not have to worry about a big baby (most likely he'll be 6-7 she guesses).
So my next appt. is July 20... and I hope to hear that I am at least 1 cm or that something is going on down there, cause man, it sure FEELS like it!

Congrats Janet! I can't wait to see pictures!
Sorry I haven't been here to post in so long... I have been so busy trying to get things done before the baby gets here. Last week at my apt the doctor said the babys head is way low and I am starting to thin out. Nothing too exciting! I was hopeing to be a little dilated, but no luck!
Today I am going to the firehouse to get the carseat installed. The doctor did tell me last week to pack my hospital bag and get the car seat installed. She told me you just never know... Well, I am going to be a better poster here I promise! Take care, Amanda
