The worst part is, Sarah that this "friend" is a girl! ugh!!

NO WAY!!!!! :eek: :eek: :eek:

Ericka Lots of luck and baby dust to you!!! :D

Michelle LOVE the comment you came up with.

The "friend" was a girl???? :eek:

Ericka, definitely praying for you! {{{{{BABYDUST}}}}}

slings, I ordered a ring sling from one of the WC women that makes and sells them. I can't think of her web site right now, though. I haven't done anythng with it since I received it, though. I didn't think my cat would appreciate me practicing with her. lol

Bellies, everyone looks so beautiful. Don't let anyone tell you differently! And I seriously haven't seen one belly yet that I thought was bigger than average. sheesh. Some people are just dumb. Plain and simple.

So, I've decided that Luke is transverse. He was moving around a lot again last night where I could feel him on my left side and right side at the same time. And whatever he was doing on the right was hurting me. ugh. I am starting to feel something akin to claustrophobia. Like there's no end in sight and I'm going to be pregnant forever. What a pretrifying thought. I know that's silly, but I just really cannot wait to have my body back. It's amazing- the newfound appreciation I have for my pre-pg body! Anyway, we have our u/s tomorrow at 8am and I am soooooo looking forward to see him. I have a sortive nervous feeling about it, too. Like what if something is wrong?:( Ugh-when does the worrying stop????

Leslie - I don't think the worrying will ever stop! I'm sure little Luke is fine though! How exciting you get to see him again! Post pics if you can!

Something to make you all laugh at my expense... ( I can't believe I'm posting this. )
I was laying in bed last night getting ready to sleep and all of a sudden I felt a gush. I jumped up and started freaking out that my water broke, but I actually think that I just peed the bed!!! Lol!! The baby must have moved or something and pushed on my bladder a bit. I was freaking though because it was a totally involuntary gush of fluid and my husband was away for school so I was alone. I kept smelling the sheets to see if it smelled like pee, but part of the problem when you drink so much water is that your pee doesn't smell anymore! Aye yie yie. It was a scary few minutes, but I think I would have had a contraction by now if it was my water breaking. Craziness. :eek:

I love the Hotslings, and there are so many neat fabrics. If I was rich I would get one of the Oopa Baby ones, but they are so expensive. I am planning on making a ring sling and having it be reversible, I just have to find the rings although it is taking forever since I am looking locally. i have a dark blue fabric with silver star outlines for one side and a white with construction vehicles for the other side.

I keep hearing from friends that I look like I am going to explode(these ones are all girls). I got to hear from a friend that I look great, but it doesn't seem right me being pregnant since the belly doesn't look right. I thought it was funny, he is a truck driver and I only see him once every month or two.

Daniel got to feel Ben's foot last night! He actually could feel his toes and the ball and heel. It was pretty uncomfortable, but Daniel sounded so cute talking to him and playing with his foot. Ben decided his foot was being tickled.

Yep, we are stuck with the worry! Even after the birth.

Lori Sorry about your scare. I would have freaked out and called the doctor. Especially since I tend to worry at night while laying in bed.

Leslie I feel Ben all over my belly at once. I can feel his feet, head and
butt, and last I knew he was aimed down so maybe Luke is aimed down. Although sometimes he gets his head stuck in my hip and I get really uncomfortable when I try to bend.

Kat, try posting in the sling thread that you are looking for rings. I remember seeing someone posting on WC about a site that they got theirs from.

Lori, oh you poor thing!!! I would have TOTALLY thought it was my water breaking, too.

Edited to add-oh well Leslie beat me.

Sorry, I don't have time for SO's...

Slings I got a cotton adjustable pouch from www.kangarookorner.com. I think they have slings, pouches, and wraps. I was really happy about their service so I would definatly recommend them!

Leslie Did you get your ring sling from Shannon/Turtlemama? Sorry that Luke turned on you. He's got time to get back in position. Don't worry too much yet.

Lori :eek: OK, that friend was a WOMAN? A grown up, real life, supposedly mature WOMAN? I totally thought that was a rude guy thing! WOW. Hm. So she is just insanely jealous I think. Or lookin for a catfight!! Maybe someday she'll be pregnant (poor child!) - I'll bet ya anything she'll be twice your size! Hehe. Women can be so catty. (Look at me right now, lol. But she deserves it, right??) ;) I'm glad you saw the rest of the nursery pics - thank you for your compliments!

Sorry about your scare last night but that is hilarious!! I'm so glad your water wasn't breaking! This was just your "practice-water-breaking" I guess...next time will probably be it! ;)

Leslie Luke is transverse too! That's how Noah is...it is the weirdest to have them stretch out your stomach on either side, isn't it? Ugh. Hopefully they get their heads down in that extra space soon! I hope your ultrasound goes well - post pics if you can! I'm sure everything will be OK, but I definitely know all about the worry part. It never ends I'm afraid!

All the rude emails and comments made to everyone else-- WOW. Just, wow. Unbelievable. These people are just incredibly rude and I feel sorry for their PARENTS who raised such ignor-anuses. ;)

Michelle Loved your "after-thought" response for your coworker and I almost hope he does slip up again so you can use it!!

Guess what I just received in the mail today! :)
http://www.kecci.com/product/CM6000-19/CM6000-19-lg.jpg

It was a gift from former WCer and close friend silentbunny - I can't believe how cool it is in person. :)

Another Graco recall? Yipes! I'm glad I stuck to my guns and didn't register for anything made by Graco. The recall a few months ago bothered me enough to stay away from their products, and seeing another recall assures me that I made the right decision.

My baby shower is next weekend - the invites are SO cool, I'll have to take a picture and post it later today. The shower is an esthetics shower - a group of girls from this company - www.belleoftheball.ca - are coming to do facials, manis/pedis, waxing, and massages. I can't wait! The girl who owns the company does the best brow wax, and I'm due. (Anybody else noticing their, ahem, body hair is growing really fast lately?)

Thanks so much ladies. I appreciate the prayers and will keep you all posted.

Found myself at Babies R' Us today, first time since about March when we registered. Than went to Marshalls and found myself in the baby section as well. Maybe that means I am ready to go again :) Held a friend's baby girl that is 6 months old about 2 weeks ago, first time to look or even hold a baby. Missed Rebekah while holding Savannah, but felt good to hold her.

oooh, Carla! How pretty!!!

I, too, am glad I stuck to my guns on the Graco thing. I hope they get their act together soon.

Your shower sounds awesome. And yes on the body hair. My belly has developed fur during the course of my pregnancy.:confused::rolleyes:

Oh man, my furry belly is EMBARASSING. When the light catches it just the right (or is that wrong?) way, I look like a swollen Sasquatch. :eek:

Now that I don't have a ticker to remind me of how many days I have left, I'm counting on my bottle of Zantac to tell me. The bottle is less than half full (and I had exactly enough to get me to my due date) - yikes!

Do you think this thread moves so fast partly because the posting windows are smaller?? It seems like we move forward by pages so quickly! Or, we could all just be really chatty right now.

Love Like everyone else, I can't believe a woman said that. I don't know that I could answer her politely, though I might mention that when it's her time, that she realize how comments affect people, and that it is more important to maintain a healthy environment for a healthy baby, and that means gaining the CORRECT amount of weight. And when it's her time, she, too, will learn how to put her own egotistical and narcissistic tendencies behind her for the sake of her child.

Sarah Great 3/D pics! Love the little nose and full lips! Someone mentioned that they thought my girl had my mouth, and I was strangely really pleased (though DH has a lovely full mouth). ;)

Rings/Slings I plan to buy one of these. I hear that this breastfeeding support place nearby THE PUMP STATION sells them, so I'll be looking into that next week.

I have one more shower (maybe two if there's one here at work, but I don't know) this weekend. This is from my g.f.'s from college, who I'm really close to, so I'm looking forward to it. But I will be happy to be done with showers. I feel a bit like a dancing seal, there for everyone to stare at, touch the belly, and comment on my size (which is still a bit small by other's standards :rolleyes: ). LORD, I am tired!!!

Hi Ladies, after long last I am back. I wasn't sure I'd be able to figure out this new place, but I think I am getting the hang of it.

With 50 + pages to read, I can't possibly catch up, but you guys sure have been chatty.

As far as me, things are still going well. I can't believe I only have 6 weeks left! We washed all of the baby's clothes over the weekend and made a list of things we still need to get (I am keeping it to the bare minimum because I'm still a little superstitous about having too much stuff in the house). We picked out paint for his bedroom and have the painters coming on Monday. The furniture is in, and I will be having it delivered next weekend. Soooo, things are moving right along.

I have my next doctor's appointment on Wednesday 7/13 and then will go to weekly appointments. Who knows when he will start checking internally...

This weekend we are headed to the beach for our last getaway. Interesting point some of you made about taking the infant seat with us, I hadn't thought about that. Perhaps we will do that. It's a 3.5 hour drive, which my doctor said was fine at this stage but after this I'm not allowed to go more than an hour from the hospital.

Anyway, it's good to see everyone, and I will try to do a better job of keeping caught up.

And Ericka I am praying that you see a +++!

Just a vent

Rude comments are afoot everywhere. I think I'm being overly sensitive. But my family and close friends reaction to some of those 3d pics were just annoying. For one I couldn't even get my dad to get up, walk over to the computer and check the email until 10-15 minutes of chatting after I told him to check his email. Finally gets up and I hear my entire family go off in the background. "Ew, what am I looking at? What is that?" I heard my little brother laughing "he looks like Bill Cosby" - oh and everyone thought that was just too funny. My mom and dad talked about the pictures for maybe 5 seconds each and never asked any question or seemed vaguely interested. Today a friend just said "Cute...but some of them are a bit funny looking. One of them, he looks like an old man!"

Why can't people just make you feel good and then not-to-my-face say what they think?? I guess that makes me glad to have other moms online say what I like to hear. :) Just sad my own friends and family can't be more excited and happy about the pictures...he's a squished up chubby baby face, yah yah, I get it...so can't they just think up one nice thing to say anyways since I so openly shared them with them since they are such a big part of my life??

I can only imagine who else on the email list of those pictures is now making fun of my baby and being rude about what to me is such a neat miracle...guess I have to get used to it!

:mad: over-sensitive pregnant woman going back to work now...

Whoa!
We are getting chattier! Maybe it is because we are getting closer??? :D
I'm still trying to catch up. But now, I should have more time. My mom left this morning, she was the only one remaining to help me with the house. I was sad to see her go, but it is kinda nice to enjoy my house on my own right now. I'm really looking forward for DH to arrive tonight. I'm exhausted though, moving at 35-36 week of pregnancy is not ridiculous, it is plain insane! I really need to relan for the nest few days/week, and enjoy some very well needed time with DH in our new house

I have my next appointment on monday, I really can't wait to see what is going on, and maybe it will give me an idea of how fast or not this is going. I think I had some more contractions since my last appointment, althoughit is still unclear to me what they are. (I'm always unsure if it is the baby or something else...)

The nursery is nearly done. I'm still waiting on my matress, and we have finished painting the furniture yesterday night. It is still drying outside. We only have to finish the chaging table, and organize the whole thing. I wish I had my digital...

Now that all my helpers are gone, and that the house is in an OK state, it is going to be the time for self pampering...I 'm in desparate need of waxing, and a hair cut...so why not make it for a mani/pedi or facial juste for my "moral" This should make me feel better in no time. :p
I'm a bit freaking out about the "amount" of time left, less then a month to go,I don't know how I feel about that.

I realised that I haven't updates my info:
WC August 21 CC: August 21 IRL:Val,

I'd also love to get connected with you guys on LJ:
val_s is my username, can someone tell me what to do???
I don't know if we have all given out our LJ names, but I sure would love to add you guys to my LJ friend list.

Othersite...wc I'm sure it has been discussed, but have you guys been able to delete your journal over there???

Ringsling I haven't bought a ring sling, because I didn't like the look of it. I went for a pouch, (Hotsling) and a wrap (Hug a bub) I just can't wait to try it on with baby in it!

Trips Since I have started to dialte, my doc kinda suggested that I shouldn't leave, and get too far away at this point...I got the point.

Ericka Loads of baby dust for you!

Sarah Super cool US!!! Noah looks like a cute kid! I really just can't wait to see him IRL!

Lori Sorry about your scare hon! It is getting freakier as time passes and out itme is coming I guess!

Mood For some reason, I feel really sad lately. I really shouldn't, baby is nealry here, and we now have our first house, but still, I could just sit there and cry. I really don't understand myself...and I'm scaring myself so much!

Bras and pads I went shopping yesterday for nursing bras. (what a party! :rolleyes: ) There was a sale on pads. Have you guys bought washable, or only dispoable??? I bought one set of washable, and a Lilypadz kit, but I was kinda tempted to also buy disposable. What brands do you guys have???

Diapers I know I'm super late on this topic, but I recieved a pack of Huggies for our wedding... :rolleyes: and I opened them, and really wasn,t impressed. It feels like paper to me. So I checked around, and also went with the swaddlers. I liked them best. I obviously haven't tryied them yet, but I look forward to see.

That will be it for today. I still have a couple of things to do, and I want to go and enjoy some sun (and my pool!)
Have a great day ladies!

We're interviewing 3 day car providers tonight - one in-home and 2 centers. So far, I've called 25+ places and most are full. It's so stressful. I'm really hoping that one of these works out. We do have one woman who has an opening but she charges double (or more than double in some cases) of what others in the area are charging and although she's great I don't think she's that great, we just can't justify spending double right now. I just wish the magic day care fairy would come to us soon! :)

We bought our car seat over the weekend (finally). Although, Graco has a bad rep (as of lately) we went with a Snugride. We got the older model (up to 20 pounds). Should we get the new model instead (up to 22 pounds)? There is one place online that has it and it's about $20 more including shipping/tax. DH says that 2 pounds and a few inches don't really matter but if the infant seat could get us through the winter (until March) in Wisconsin instead of us having to buy a new seat in the middle of winter (Jan/Feb), wouldn't it be worth it? When a child is in the convertible, do they wear snowsuits?

I have my first internal exam at 35 weeks and this includes the strep test. DR will check baby's position and guess on the size. She hasn't checked or given any opinion on that yet so I'm excited. After that, I'll go weekly.

Nursing Pads I bought one box of Lanisoh disposable pads. I really haven't been given any recommendations. I will have to do some research on that.

Has anyone else just felt BLAH lately? I have no energy to do anything around the house, yet I can't sleep because I can't get comfortable. I still have unpacking and decorating to do, but when DH gets home, all I want to do is cuddle up on the couch with him. WHY AM I SO BLAH?! :rolleyes: I need to be excited and anxious and giddy and all those things that come with a baby being due in 5 weeks. What's my problem?!

Red'sGirl

Sarah Don't think twice about any of them! Your little man is adorable and it's nothing short of a miracle that we get to see him before he's even born. If they can't see how great that is, and that while he's in utero he's bound to look a bit squished - they all do. Ugh! I think family can be the worst because they take your feelings for granted. I'll bet no one else would ever think such things beyond "look at your little miracle".

I got a diaper bag at this weekend's shower! It's a Burberry diaper bag :D from the baby's Godmother. LOVE IT! I was looking for a website picture, but can't find one. It's the regular Burberry plaid, in a tote with a matching changing pad. Simple, but can be used when baby's out of diapers, as well.

Baby is moving so much now, and her movements are strong. The knees and feet to the ribs (at least I hope they're knees and feet and not elbows and hands) are so uncomfortable and .... well, painful. I wish she'd drop into position so she can't reach the ribs. My next Dr.'s appt is tomorrow, and I hope she'll tell me about the position and weight. DH was really sweet yesterday. He called to ask if I could make my appts. for lunchtime, so he could come. That way, I don't have to remember all the questions and her answers by myself. :p He's sweet. Is anybody else's hubby going to appts?

Speaking of a little pampering...
I snuck out of the house yesterday and went and got a pedi and a mani, and then went and got a haircut! I feel so much better! Ive only had a pedi once before, and I forgot how nice it was. Im sure its the same everywhere, but It was nice to have a foot/ankle/leg massage too (and hand, wrist, arm with the mani).

Another NST today, and I know Im dehydrated, Im getting so sick of chugging water.

I have washable for now, and a few flannel circles I cut so I could put them between the pad and me. I plan on doing some disposables. I like the fact that the disposables have sticky to hold them in place though.

I finally called the ped's office today. I am so happy to have that done. I didn't even give Daniel an option though. :o I still have to pick which one I want though. I loved everybody in that office when I was little. I love how nice all the people are. I decided not to go in to meet them first since Daniel doesn't want to take a lot of time off of work and I have been there before. I am happy since I missed going there after I out grew it, even though they won't be my dr's.

I am having such a great day, but since I have a dr appointment in 2 hours and I need a shower and to drink water so I can pee in the cup easier. I still don't think it is fair to make pregnant women to pee in a cup! It is hard to reach!

Sarah, pardon my french, but screw them! How could they look at those pictures and see nothing less than a beautiful baby??? Hasn't anyone heard the expression "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?" grrrrr.

Kiley, not sure about the hassle of returning the carseat and getting a new one. I know when I was doing my research, I purposely bought one that had a higher height restriction. Maybe one of the experiences mamas will have a better answer for you?

nursing pads- Sal brought me home 2 boxes of Lanisoh from the pharmacy per my request. He got them at cost, so that was good. Hopefully I will like them.

DH going to appts?-Sal has gone to most of mine and all of the ultrasounds except one, I think. I find that my blood pressure is always higher when he comes to my appts, though. lol

Blah, itch, blah, itch. Thats about how i've been feeling lately. My rash has spread from my belly to my hips, butt, legs, arms, and feet. Nothing works, but not for my lack of trying.

Pads I used the disposible Curity pads last time and I packed a couple pairs in my hospital bag. I also bought the Lilypadz and they are in my bag as well. I didn't actually need my nursing pads until my milk came in and we had gotten nursing down pat, which took a couple of weeks.

LJ I have to get our IT guy to work on my computer at work because I can't seem to get logged into LJ at all. Its defaulting to some MSN login screen. I'm not sure what's causing the problem.

Sarah I'm so sorry that your friends and family were not nicer about Noah's ultrasound pictures. I just don't understand why people don't try harder to be nice to pregnant Mom's who obviously already adore their babies. I will never understand. I know they will sing a different tune once they set eyes on him and see just how beautiful he really is, chubby cheeks and all!!

My DH went to the very first appointment (family medical history), the next one (hearing h/b for first time - we actually had an u/s as the h/b was difficult to find) and then the 20 week u/s. Other than that, I've gone on my own - I saw no need for him to travel two hours from work for me to PIAC and them to take my b/p.

Leslie You'll probably need the Lansinoh before you need the nursing pads. If his latch is funky at all your going to thank your lucky stars that you packed the Lansinoh. However, if you forget to pack it, I got a small sample sized tube from the hospital.

I think I mentioned this before, but you should use nursing pads when you use the Lansinoh because its an oily based ointment. I ruined my first nursing bra by not doing this. I think its a good idea to pack both. They're pretty small and won't take up extra room, can't hurt....right?

Leslie You'll probably need the Lansinoh before you need the nursing pads. If his latch is funky at all your going to thank your lucky stars that you packed the Lansinoh. However, if you forget to pack it, I got a small sample sized tube from the hospital.

I think I mentioned this before, but you should use nursing pads when you use the Lansinoh because its an oily based ointment. I ruined my first nursing bra by not doing this. I think its a good idea to pack both. They're pretty small and won't take up extra room, can't hurt....right?

THANK YOU FOR THE TIP!!!! :D

I am really worried about the whole LJ thing. I have no idea how to use it and I am not computer illiterate either. :rolleyes: I will have to get over there and just play around until I am comfortable. I guess with a toddler I never really have more than 15 minutes to focus during the day. ;)

We are almost done with the nursery. The crib won't be in there for sometime since Scotty still uses it, but we are almost done decorating, what a relief. I washed all of the clothes up to 6 months, blankets, burp clothes, bedding, covers on everything (bouncy seat, swing, boppy, etc.) It is SO nice to go into a room and feel prepared now. I just need to get the snugride down and ready. I have packed the baby's diaper bag, oh one thing to take with you to the hospital are baby finger nail clippers. They won't cut them for you and some babies come out with claws! ;) I have a pair of mittens packed but that was the one thing I sent DH home for with Scotty. He was scratching his face all the time. Also the hospital gives you long sleeved t-shirts with hand cuffs that you can pull over their little hands if you don't have mittens. (I am going to assume most hopsitals use these shirts)

And we are painting Scotty's big boy room, hanging the boarder, and putting together his big boy bed this weekend. HIs big boy mattress is in there set up with the guard rail but his bed is being delivered today!!!! His dresser comes next Thursday so his room will also be almost done!!! I am feeling such relief. Also our new bassinet is coming tomorrow! I love internet shopping and getting packages delivered right to me, it's like X-mas! :D Also, I found a nuch of room decor on ebay to match Scotty's new bedroom theme. Life couldn't be better.

Oh wait, I am pregnant and ready to not be! :D

Oooh - Tina I just clicked on your website and I must say I ADORE your house!!!!! The outside (inside, too, but still) is AWESOME!!! :D

Thanks Lora!

And Leslie, paying off a car is a VERY nice feeling! Tomorrow, DH is going to get pre-approved for an auto loan. We (he) tried installing the car seats in the truck this past weekend...and they fit...sort of...but not very well. Were going to try to get a Durango. I'd trade my Jeep in, but well, it would really only give us like $20 off a car payment each month. Not worth it, and I love my Jeep. Before my Jeep I had an Altima, I loved it! We had thought about getting a Maxima as a family car, but decided we needed more passenger space.

Just a quick post, since I am lacking on SO.

I only used nursing pads for 2 days. I didn't need to use them after that. Sounds weird but I didn't leak or anything after that. Everyone is so different though. I still have 2 huge boxes of them from last time. I now know not to stock up on a ton of things I am not sure I will use.

Tracy, you crack me up!

Great tip on the nail clippers/mittens. I have mine packed too. Drew had those claws you mentioned. My boobies and his face were all scratched up by the time I got home.

Yay for the nursery AND Scotty's big boy room. We're going to go out and get Drew's mattress this weekend. Get this, he actually went pee on the potty last night! It was a total fluke and he had no idea he did it but we all freaked out. So fun but sad at the same time.

The only time I really used them was when my milk first started to let down, I would be feeding on one side and squirting on the other. It eventually got better and more under control. Ahhhh those first few weeks. I can't wait.

Yay Drew! But that is so sad. We put Scotty on his potty before bath everynight but nothing so far. I may stop now, I don't want him to grow up anymore! :D

OMG, my boobies were scratched up too!

Thanks girls! I don't know what's wrong with me, I am just super sensitive and easily upset lately and very restless as well. It sounds like we are all getting to "that point." :) Thanks for cheering me up.

Darrien Your diaper bag sounds wonderful!! I hope your little girl drops soon so you are more comfortable. I can't believe you are almost 36 weeks! Your DH is so sweet - what a keeper! My DH has come with me to several appointments, but lately I've been letting him off the hook since his job is downtown an hour away and he can't get off early every time. Maybe when we are in the last 4 weeks I can get him to come. :) We usually make it a date night and do dinner out.

Val You should totally go out and pamper yourself - you are so close now to having that little baby and have done A LOT these past few weeks! Take good care of yourself, you deserve it. I hope you feel better soon, and I can't wait to see your nursery pictures! I'm sure it's lovely! As far as pads - I've only bought a set of Lilypadz and I'm excited about them, I hope they work like the dream I've heard they are. I've heard Lanisohl is the best for disposables (and the cream). I'll probably get all that as well, just in case.

Carla Cool new diaper bag, you must have been thrilled to get it! And yep, my tummy is hairy too. Furry is a very good word for it, haha.

Kiley Good luck with your day care interviews! I hope you find a great one and everything works out perfectly.

Lora Definitely feeling ya on the blah-state right now. I feel like I'm in the stagnant, painfully slow "waiting for baby" time and everything is annoying me...my poor DH. *sigh* I just have no energy to do anything anymore and not even the impending baby on the way in a few weeks is prompting me. Weird. We'll probably get the energy kick/nesting thing going a little bit from now...I hope!

leftrightrepeat You have such a cute belly! Looks like you will have NO problem getting back into shape once Caitlyn is here!!

Tina Good for you going out and getting all beautified! ;) I'm sure you feel really great now...ready for babies!!

Kat Hope you have a great dr. appointment! I hear ya on the pee catch...I have yet to be graceful about it! AUGH. :rolls eyes: Can't believe you also have the insenstive comments about your baby's ultrasound pics. I think Darrien hit the nail on the head with her comment about how family just takes your feelings for granted! Frustrating.

Melissa I am SO sorry about the itching - I can't imagine putting up with that on top of everything else! I hope you feel better soon and that Evan comes in a timely fashion for you. It'll be great I'm sure to hold the reward for all your pain and suffering! ;)

Tracy It sounds like you are very ready now for Scotty's little bro! It is fun to have so many things showing up at your door - probably even BETTER than Christmas, haha. I definitely got carried away internet shopping last month but getting a package once a day for a week at least was AWESOME! LOL.

Phew, think I caught everyone...see ya'll tomorrow! I'm glad we have so much to talk about, it keeps me sane at work!!

Well my neighbors threw me a shower last night...about 20 neighbors were there. 3 ladies showed up that I had never even met. Anyway it was lovely and really fun and DH and i feel so lucky to have such a great neighborhood for our child to grow up in.

And even thought I know this sounds so snarky and ungrateful, Seriously, how many blankets does a child born in August need?? At this point I have stopped counting but I know we must have about 30. :eek:

We start our childbirth weekend seminar tomorrow night...dying to go and see what else I could possibly be shocked by. :eek: Sunday we're gonna go get the remaining stuff we need at BRU so we will at least have everything at home.

Dr appointmet today went well...still breech, still 2 cm...but dr said we will decide next week if we will schedule a c-section and said that they typically schedule them for week 39....Maybe we will have a July baby after all? :eek:

Trying to catch up with all of you should be fun...

Adore~ Those slings are beautiful! I got the measurments and instructions for a moby wrap from a good friend so I'm going to try to sew one of those...I tried hers out and it was very comfy.

Lori~ I'm still fuming over your friends rude email...how inconsiderate and immature! I was thinking of sending a belly shot out to a few friends but maybe I'll reconsider now. BTW, your pee/water breaking story had me giggling! I woudl have thought the same thing.

Sarah~ I think the pics of Noah are just beautiful...He looks so comfy and secure in there...and his face is just adorable. People can be so insensitive...FWIW my family probably would have reacted in the same nonchallant manner. Hopefully they will realize that their behavior was less than stellar. Besides, who cares, you have a beautiful baby boy on the way!

Ericka~ Best of luck catching the eggie :D

Sonya~ Glad you had such a good appointment and a good ultrasound. Things are looking up!

Meaghan~ What a cute belly! You are so adorable and will probably bounce right back to your old self after delivery.

Leslie~ Oh, Luke is transverse huh? That must feel great! I'm with you...I have never had such an appreciation for my old body as I do now...can't wait to be back to normal.

Carla~ Oh a Kecci bag...you will love it! What a thoughtful friend.

Darrien~ Wiping the drool off my keyboard after thinking of your Burberry bag...You are SO right, it will make a great bag even after baby is done with it. Have fun at your showers this weekend.

Val~ Oh I have had mood swings too...sometimes sad, sometimes mad. Hang in there, I'm sure you will feel so much better once you feel more settled at home and can have more time with your DH. I looked at Nursing bras and pads yesterday...still need to make up my mind.

Kiley~ We have a snugride with a 20 lb limit...I worried about getting the bigger one too but my friends all say the baby gets too long for the carseat before they reach the weight limit, so I figured it wasn't a big deal.

Lora~ Oh I hav felt blah too...I am surrounded by so much to do all day that I just want to crash in front of the tv with DH each night...Maybe it's our inner clocks telling us to chill out now, because after our babies arrive we won't have much time to do that?

Tina~ Good for you for treating yourself! I decided I need a pedi today, bad!...maybe I can squeeze one in this weekend. I too am dying from chugging all this water, yuck. Congrats for paying off your jeep and getting a Durango...our friends with a newborn just got a durango and it was so great inside! Love it!

Kat~ I swear the peeing in a cup thing is like a test...maybe once you physically CAN NOT DO IT they will agree to induce you. I think it's like a juggling act everytime but without monkeys.:rolleyes:

Tracey~ So much going on at your hose with the big boy room too! Those of you who are already mommies and are pregnant again amaze me...

Sorry if I missed anyone...hugs all around!

- LOL Tracy. So you wouldn't necessarily do the washing of new out of the box stuff then?

I washed the material for the bouncer and the swing. I may not have thought of it if my best friend didn't mention it to me.

Tracy, ahhhh-thank you for mentioning the clippers. I think I read on WC at one time to bring clippers or nail files. Totally escaped my mind when I was packing. Now I have more stuff to add to my bag! lol
Yay for getting so much done on the boy's rooms. Can't wait to see pics!

Yay Drew!

Tina, I hear you on needing more passenger space-especially for twins! And those Durangos are sooo nice!!! I think I'll do fine with my Altima, but Sal wants to trade cars for work since I will be staying home and his Explorer sucks gas big time (even though his commute is short). I'm used to little cars and am actually scared to drive his truck. :o

Re: Clippers for baby's fingernails - Just a word of caution. I have heard before (just heard, in no way am I proclaiming this as gospel... ;) ) that there are a lot of "accidents" involving well-meaning moms clipping their babies' fingernails. They're so soft and delicate - it can be very easy to slip and cut their delicate skin. So please be careful! I will just be opting for mitts myself, if the scratching is an issue for the first few days. And after that, I think I'll stick to filing them down. I'm pretty accident prone. LOL

Drive through is wonderful. Something finally sounded good to me, food lately has just sounded gross. So, on the way home from my NST, I stopped at Quizno's for a sandwich and Jack N The Box for curly fries! I love Thursdays! I get to stop for treats.

NST was uneventful. Boys don't like the sensor thingys though and kick at them like mad. LOL
Oh! And Im measuring fundal height 47 cms. :eek:
At 30w 5 days I was measuring 38, and have consistantly only been 8 weeks ahead this entire time.

Well no 3D u/s for us today :( The doctor got called in for a delivery this afternoon and didn't make it back to the office. Apparently it isn't in the cards for me to see this little guy until he decided to make his appearence. I have to admit I am a little dissapointed, so to cheer my self up I went shopping at a few hoitie toitie maternity boutiques for a baby shower outfit a few swips of the plastic later I felt much better! :D I actually found something that fit and actually looked cute!

We are still working on Aidan's room we hung up the letters for his name, put the crib together and I started washing the bedding, I ordered the curtains so we just need to do some touch up painting, ohh and I am still on the hunt for an affordable rug that will go with the bedding, and then just a few more finishing touches and we should be done!!!! I'll take pictures when it's all done!
picked up my excerball so I can get started on those excersizes! I can't believe only 5 weeks left!
I went to visit my neighbor who had their son last week and I have to admit he was so small, 7 pounds, which I guess isn't that small but he looked really small, that I was almost afraid to pick him up! and I have worked with infants for years, but there is definetly a difference between an infant and a newborn.

For some reason my computer won't let me look at the last few pages so I can't do go back and catch up so I'll have to come back.

My thoughts are with you guys in Florida and anywhere else that is in the path of Hurricane Dennis I just saw on the news that the storm is intensifing and is supposed to hit on Sunday :( Be safe Ladies!!

Zoinks! We just got back from seeing War of the Worlds. I get really scared by any kind of scary movie (so I normally avoid horrors, but I love disaster movies and good sci-fi) and my blood pressure must have been through the roof! I was having Braxton-Hicks throughout the entire movie, but they stopped as soon as we left the theatre. LOL I kept thinking, "Oh sure, I survived my vacation, but this darned movie is going to put me into premature labor!"

gardenmommy I think half the reason we get so many blankets is because they can be so inexpensive, and there are so many cute ones. When I first found out we were pregnant, I had a hard time resisting the urge to pick up a couple, knowing that we'd get a ton as gifts. ;)

Mickey&B I'm sorry you missed your u/s. I would have been so disappointed. :(

Good morning ladies!
Feeling a bit better this morning, I don't feel as sad as yesterday, but still kinda not entirely happy as I should be, it is a very weird feeling!
On the good news side, DH had a promotion that was officially announced yesterday. We knew it since a little while now, but we were waiting on the official thing before saying anything about it. He looks really happy! I have to say, exictements all comes together at the same time here!

Glad to see everybody looks like is holding on. We all look like we are getting ready for this to be over, it is my case anyway. DH and I deceided that no matter how the house looks this weekend is going to be ours, and we'll just enjoy some time for ourselves. YAY!!! I just hope it will go according to plan.

Lora I have to say that the combo moving, unpacking, pregnancy was a bit tougher then I thought! I guess we both have a taste for pain :p Are you pretty much done or is there still tons to do??? Don't worry sweety we'll get there!

Lansinoh cream I've put that and the pads in my bag already, thanks! Have you guys alreasy started to apply the cream of not???

Tracy Good for nealry being done with the nursery. I totally understand the feeling. I just can't wait for our to be really DONE!

Tina YAY for the car being paid off!!! Tha is sooo cool!

Sarah Gald that you are feeling better about the whole pic situation. I really feel like you lately, somethings are just making me react out of control. I guess I'm also super sensitive, thanks to all the stress that I've been going through! Cheer up hon, your kid is going to be such a cutie!

Jennifer YAY for such a cool shower!!! That is nice. I still just can't believe we are hitting the 37 week mark this weekend, that means girl that our babies are FULL TERM!!! :eek: Can you even believe it??? I'm still in shock, but so happy! :p

Snowzilla I had the same thing when we watched Star wars...I guess baby didnt really appreciated the sound!

2 QOTD for you ladies:
1- do you have back pain when you get up in the morning??? I have this really low back pain every morning for about 10-15 mintues, regardless of the bed I've been sleeping on??? Anybody???

2- Are you all set up for your hospital bags? How big is it. I have started to gather things for my bag, and I feel like i'm going on a vacation :rolleyes: (some type of vacation that is!) I don,t think I have packed super heavily, but i'm just wondering how much stuff we need for 2 days?!

Now, with my little tiny overstuffed preggo brain, I just can't see what other things I should be doing before the baby gets here.
I have nearly finished the nursery ( it is a matter of time, and furniture :rolleyes: )
I have washed all the clothes, and pillows and stuff I could think of
I'm reading a really good book that I wanted to read for a little while
I'm going to spend quality time with DH this weekend.
Next weekend my family is coming back for my birthday and we'll be making some food to put in the freezer.
I'm trying to prepare some stuff for after baby gets here (prepared a answering machine message, bought some purell(...)to put around the house, getting a nursing station prepared in Baby's room...
What am I not thinking about?

Val - congrats to DH on the promotion! That's a nice thing to happen before the baby comes.

As far as things to do, I'm not a good one to ask. We're replacing our two exterior doors today, and will be replacing our windows before the baby comes. Oh, and possibly build a bathroom. (That's all my dad - we have a cape with only one bathroom. He wants to get the dormer built upstairs so we can have two bathrooms. Not high on our list, but since dad will loan us the money and has a guy to do it, why not? Although, an upstairs bathroom would have been nice earlier during the pregnancy! :rolleyes: I sincerely doubt the dormer will be done before the baby.)

I have a breastfeeding class tomorrow, and I'm pretty sure DH is coming with me! He's a little nervous about being the only guy, but the place said guys come all the time. After all, when I freak out in the first few weeks, he needs to be able to remember class and help calm me down, right? ;)

I've missed a whole lot on these boards- the last two days I've had problems getting on. Or, I get on, but can only view the current page. Sounds like I've missed some exciting things, though!

QOTD - 1- No I am lucky that I don't have many aches and pains in the morning when I get up. Though last night I started to get little stabbing pains in my belly - I think it is just from the skin stretching (can it really stretch any more??)

QOTD - 2 - I haven't even started to think about the hospital bag....maybe that will be this weekend's project for me.

Mickey&B UGH - I am so sorry that you didn't get your ultrasound! :( I would have been devastated too. At least you know the secret cure to misery! SHOPPING!! WOOHOO. I've done the plastic card therapy many times myself and it really does help!

Val Congrats on your DH's promotion! I can't believe you will be hitting 37 weeks now - but it sounds like you are all ready to go with the hospital bag. I can't think of anything else you would want to prepare for, I am in awe already at what you're accomplishing! I need to start making my list and getting some of that done. :)

QOTD: Back pain I have constant 24/7 back pain so it's just an all day thing. I think sometimes the baby is in a position that causes a pinched nerve at my lower right back (almost hip) - it is crippling and I've almost gone straight to the floor because my leg gives whenver the nerve is zapped. Yeesh. I've been thinking more and more about a chiropractor. I just don't want to spend the $$ and/or possibly end up just as screwed up or worse later. I hope I can last 6 more weeks.

Jennifer I'm glad you got thrown a really nice shower!! Have fun this weekend at the childbirth classes!

Tracy Thanks for your nursery compliments! I can't help it, but I keep looking for more surfing-related accessories! It's so hard to truly "complete" a room! ;)

Melissa I love the scrunchy face (post-yawn) myself, too! In the video clip of it, it's so adorable cause he does a sleepy lip-smacking thing for about 5 more seconds afterwards. He looked so comfortable in there. Babies are just too cute!

Carla That's funny War of the Worlds caused such a frenzy for you and baby! Ha. I'm glad you're still holding out and still preggo though! Maybe we should all go at 38 weeks and watch it in the hopes we get "induced" while there...! :D

Sonya Glad you're still hanging in there!!!

I can't keep up, ladies!!! We sure are chatty as our due dates approach!!! :p

QOTD 1 Like Sarah, I have back pain 24/7. This has been going on since about week 20, I believe. No slackin' for me! However, from sleeping in one position, it feels AWESOME to pop my back when I get up. :D

QOTD 2 I started packing mine last night! I am taking my small, small suitcase - the carry-on. So far, I have 2 nightgowns (cute - Target - cheap), a nursing tank (Target - thanks for the recs!!), house shoes, nursing pads jic, Lanisoh, socks, travel size toothpaste, soap, deodorant, mouthwash, a new toothbrush so I don't forget mine. I am going to add a light robe, the baby book, thank-you notes, and our phone # list. Then on our way out, I have a list of what to grab: digital camera, battery charger, shampoo, conditioner, Rusty's toiletries, pregnancy journal (to write my birth story). I think that's it!

We had our u/s this morning. It's amazing how cramped it is getting in there-it was really hard to see him.:( Everything seems to look good and I'm still measuring about a week ahead. Fluid level is about the same as last time. She spent a lot of time looking at his organs and what not which made me nervous, but I'm sure it's all fine. We got one of those scary mask looking face shots :p and an amazing money shot. There is NO DOUBT that this baby is a boy. lol I'll try to scan the pics tonight and post them later.

back pain-none here, but I do have this weird thing with my right leg where I have to stretch it out all the way to crack it. It's so annoying. I actually wake up at night several times with that pressure feeling where I need to crack it. And it's just my right leg. Very strange. I do get back pain when I've been really active (i.e. making dinner, loading the dishwasher, laundry, etc.)

hospital bag-I'm using this Calvin Klein tote bag I got as a free gift when I bought Sal's Eternity Summer for him for Father's Day. It's pretty roomy still where as the the diaper bag is packed to the gills! lol I need to add the nursing pads and cream and clothes to wear home for me and the nails files and mittens for Luke. I packed the two nursing tanks and the nursing gown I bought, but I'm sure I'll probably just stay in the hospital gown.

LOL. I don't remember if I did the first two times - it was such a long time ago. But I'd imagine I made some kind of effort to "put myself together". Regardless, I plan on trying harder this time. It's like I have a whole new self-awareness that I didn't have before.

Lora- That isn't a stupid question at all. I wanted so badly to look nice because of all the pictures that I was in, but the fact was, I was too exhausted to care much. My hair was in a ponytail and I managed to put lip gloss and mascara on. I wore jogging pants, a tank top and sandals home. I took my blow dryer and all my make-up but I had no energy to do anything with myself. Just eating and showering was a chore while we were at the hosptial and I had to have help with everything I did. I was hooked back up to pit after delivery and a cathedor put back in because I was bleeding too much. So it was a full day before I even got to shower. Also while in the hospital it is really hard to get any sleep because nurses and doctors come in at all hours to check on things. I think my longest span was 1.5 hours at a time. Anyhow I am getting off point. Some women come home looking beautiful and I just don't know how they do it. You will not look stupid coming home beautiful!

Thanks, ladies! I just didn't know if the nurses would look at me like I was nuts if I was in there drying my hair, etc. I suppose I will take all my stuff just in case I feel like looking somewhat nice. ;)

My only other worry is - what will fit? Surely my biggest maternity clothes won't. But I know I will be no where near non-maternity clothes. I'm thinking maybe my knit Old Navy pants and a fitted maternity T? Or will I not want fitted?

(Do I sound like the most vain person right now or WHAT?! :p :o )

I don't know how I'll feel then, but my thought is that we'll be taking lots of pictures and possibly videotaping, too, so maybe at the very least a little makeup? lol

I forgot to post before that I asked the tech how much Luke weighs now and she said 7lbs. My God. Some women deliver babies that weigh 7lbs. Sal was 7lbs 3oz! And I still have 4 weeks and 2 days to until my due date! I don't think there's anyway I'm getting around having at least a 9lb baby.:rolleyes: I know it could be off in one direction or the other, but daaaaaamn!

Hey girls!

Our birthing class starts tonight...Not sure why but I'm really excited! I'm just hoping it isn't a total waste of time an they cover something that I haven't already heard here or read in my 18 books.

I think I have decided to quit working a week early. I was goingot work 2 more weeks and then have 1 week off before the baby comes, but since they will likely induce me in week 39 accoring to my appointment yesterday I think I'm gonna scoot out early so I have a few days at home to finish up loose ends! :D OMG, I have 2 weeks left! :eek:

Val~ FULL TERM here we come!! Yeah! That sounds heavenly and totally amazing at the same time. Congrats on your DH's promotion...good things happen in clusters for us too, isn't it great?

Lora~ I'm not the girliest girl but I have a thing about hair and makeup so I fully intend on trying to look as cute as possible...especially if there will be photos galore like I expect. Even if the nursing staff thinks I'm crazy I won't care!

Great bag list...totally forgot the birthing book, I'll have to add that!

Leslie~ So glad to hear you had a good ultrasound. 7lbs already? You can do it doll! He is gonna be just so cute!!

QOTD1~ I would say the only time of day my back is certain NOT to hurt is the morning.

QOTD2~ I haven't packed mine yet but we have it on the list of thngs to do this weekend. We live about 3 miles from the hospital so if I pack too light or forget something DH can always go get it for me.

Lora,

From what I was told and read, you will be able to fit in clothes you were at about 5 or 6 months. Probably unfitted would be best, just so the "girls" can still have some room to expand and such.

QOTD: funny you said about makeup, I was watching a baby story yesterday and the one in the middle of labor put on lipstick, brushed her hair and put on mascara since her husband was going to be taping the birth. I got a good laugh out of that.

I was told to plan on coming home looking about 4-5 months pregnant. So take clothes that fit you about that time period. It worked well for me last time. This time I am planning to wear my non pregnant jogging pants home. I actually still fit in them now, I just wear the waste under my belly.

Leslie- 9lb babies are still small, it is just a scary though delivering one. You'll do great! And you will be able to tell which one LUke is if he is ever in the nursery, we could tell which one Scotty was! The same day he was born, a 11lber was born and he was huge, made Scotty look tiny. OMG, this is sort of funny (sorry flash backs) when he was circ'd, Matt said he didn't even fit in the body mold they lay them in to strap them down from wiggling everywhere. He came back to me with these huge red lines on his legs. It was so sad, but sort of funny at the same time. ;)

Tracy That is good to know. My knit pants from Old Navy are all non-maternity. I wear them below my waist also...shown in this pic, I believe:

Lora - You don't even need make-up you will be beautiful with or without it. And my pants are similar to yours, they just have a strip down the side. Those look like they will be perfect. As for tops, that is the hard part, I remember it being like that last time too. I just didn't want anything snug fitting because my belly wasn't hard and full of a baby anymore, it was more soft and squishy...oh that sounds gross, sorry.

lmao! Lora, that isn't a stupid question, and I don't even have kids! I'm a little embarrassed to admit this, but when SIL had her first kid (my first nephew) there were tons of pictures. And she is a very put together person, always dressed to the nines. She had a rough delivery (lots of pushing, had to have a c-section in the end) and was very swollen. It's 7 years later, and I still remember our reaction when we saw some of the pictures. We were all like WOAH! She looked rough. :o (i'm hysterically laughing just remembering the pics!) Like someone else said, she was just too wiped out to even care about what she looked like. But afterwards, when she saw the pictures, I think she wished she'd taken a moment or two for herself! (not that we said anything to her, it was just that bad! tee hee)

And, since I got (and am still getting) so much enjoyment out of that, I'm sure to have the labor from hell! :rolleyes:

lol Julie! Let's hope you don't have a labor from hell!!! (Speaking of you - did you see where I say TY for my gift?? :D )

Tracy You're too sweet! I am hoping that my v-neck T's that I live in now will be just about the right size to hide the flab, but look decent enough to wear home. I don't guess that is something we can forecast, huh? :p

Lora Just so you know...I'm GLAD you are asking these "vain" ;) questions cause I certainly was going to if you didn't!! I am already trying to think about how my hair will be DURING labor (hm...curly and up, or should I make it straight so it doesn't get so frizzy, etc.), what I'm going to wear while I labor (like I'm sure that'll be something I'll really be concerned about right then), etc, etc. I will totally have my makeup and hair stuff with me!

I'm really getting some good ideas from you ladies and your hospital bag items...learning lots!

This may be a stupid question, but something I need an answer to. :p For 2nd-time moms. When you left the hospital, had you fixed your hair? Applied any make-up? Etc? I know some do, some don't - will I look stupid if I try to look nice? :o Sorry - just a random thought when making my list of things to grab. ;)

Oh Gosh, Lora... I tried to do my hair and put on make-up. I even thought I looked good. But when I look back at those pictures, I shudder. My hair looked like crap and somehow the make-up I applied didn't help the overall look at all. I plan to pack my make-up and hair stuff this time too, although i'm pretty sure i'll look just as bad. Such is life, I guess!

QOTD #1 Nope, no back pain.

QOTD #2 I've packed my roll-aboard suitcase and got everything in there, including MIke's stuff.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So I had my appointment...and what a crazy one it was! Sheesh.
Baby is doing fine, still measuring two full weeks ahead. We have an ultrasound scheduled for Monday, July 11 to check his size again.
Dr. looked at my rash and its definitly PUPPPs. She decided that I should come off the antihistamines that she gave me earlier in the week because they weren't helping at all and she wants to avoid them if possible. I can, however, take a benedryl if I absolutely have to, before going to bed at night. Otherwise, cool baths and anti-itch stuff is my only choice.
She was concerned that I complaining of itching on my legs, feet, and arms as well as my belly, hips, and butt. She thinks that my Gall Bladder might not be working properly and my bile salt level is too high. This is a problem because the salts can cross the placenta and be harmful to the baby. I had to have a blood test to check on that. The problem with this is that the medicine to treat this isn't very safe for the baby, but she says we'll deal with this only if we have to.
I had my GBS test and an internal exam. She tried for a bit to reach my cervix but at this point its just too high to even reach. Great. :rolleyes:
Her eyes just about bugged out when she saw my legs and how bad the swelling is. She wasn't happy but my bp was 122/82 and my weight wasn't up too bad over last time so she's ok with everything.
Now for the big news. She's not concerned about any of my problems individually but she is not happy with the combination of the baby's size, the swelling, the rash, and now the Gall Bladder issue. She said that she wants him out because that the only way any of these problems will get any better.
So, we've scheduled an induction for August 2nd, which for me is exactly 39 weeks. However, i'm hoping that in the meantime, my cervix starts to get its act together and that I go into labor on my own before then. Its totally a possibility because I delivered Drew at 38.5 weeks. I'm going to request that they start stripping me as soon as they can reach my cervix and as soon as it starts to become ready. I want to do everything I can to go before Aug 2nd to avoid the induction, but its nice to have a date as a worst case scenario.
I'm exhausted from the whole appointment. Sheesh
Just popping in quickly before I have to read 10 pages to get caught up! :)
To throw in my 2 cents on a few of the questions:
Hospital bag I have to say, I didn't use most of the stuff I packed last time. I wore the gown from the hospital, didn't bother getting made up (so didn't use make up or hair stuff), so really only used my toiletries (I'm cheap and didn't want to pay for the ones the hospital provides!), and the baby's clothes that I had brought. I didn't have a long enough labor to use any of the reading material or other stuff I had brought for that, was way too tired to do announcements or thank yous, and don't remember if I had anything else in the bag. I found that I really just used the stuff for the baby and my clean clothes to go home in.
Going home clothes I wore home a pair of knit, non-maternity pants and probably a maternity shirt (can't remember??). I was smaller then when I came in, but definately still in maternity stuff. We went home at 6:00, and no one else was there when we left, so I don't know that we even have going home pictures. Yeesh...what bad parents we are!! I'm very low key when it comes to hair and make up anyway, so I'm sure I didn't bother with either of those. I did take a shower, so was clean, at least! :) I have a feeling I'll be a little pickier this time around, but probably still won't bother with my hair. Lora - I highly doubt the nurses will even blink twice if you are doing your hair! They've seen it all!
Hmmm - I do believe there were more questions, but I need to eat some breakfast...
As I mentioned in my LJ, I had a rough night last night. Starting around 6 or 7, I was having contractions every 3-4 minutes. That lasted until 11 or so, when they finally started spreading out. Eventually, they were 10 or more minutes apart, and I went to bed at 2. I'm tired this morning!! And a little disappointed - I was hoping last night was it! Ah well...one more day to try to get some more things done around here. I suppose it would be a good day to actually pack my bag for the hospital, instead of just talking about it. :rolleyes: Especially now that DH finally finished up the nursery! Of course, this morning, I've only had a few smaller contractions, so am just trying to plan around them. Of course, I'll come in and post if anything changes (or I'll get something in my LJ...). I do have nursery pictures, but don't know if I'll get those posted this morning.
Off to eat - have a great Friday everyone!!!
Lora, I'm just planning on taking my yoga pants with me, and a loose-fitting top of some sort. Of course, I'm planning for the possibility of a repeat c-section, so I want to make sure that what I take will be comfy in the event that I have an incision to deal with.
Which leads me to my QOTD: Am I the only August mommy dealing with a VBAC? (I'd imagine that I am.) I'm really starting to worry about whether or not I've made the right decision. I hate the information that is out there on the internet. It is so bloody sensationalized, and as I've mentioned before, I feel like all I can find are horror stories from angry women, instead of fair, balanced stories from both sides (the good AND the bad).
On the one hand, I know I will be really disappointed if I don't have the opportunity for a vaginal birth. I remember feeling that way after my daughter was born - I had been looking forward to the birth experience with so much anticipation (my son's delivery had been so emotionally rewarding), so to wake up from an emergency c-section was a tough pill to swallow.
On the other hand, I worry about things like uterine rupture, and the possible birth defects such as cerebral palsy that can be the result. I don't know. My doctor seems to feel that I am a perfect candidate for VBAC, but I'm starting to wonder which route is riskier, and I fear I will never get a straight answer on the subject, because it is so controversial amongst the pro-C and anti-C camps. :(
Melissa - I'm sorry your appointment didn't bring more good news. Hang in there...its hard to believe the end is in sight, isn't it?!! QOTD1 - I haven't had any back pains yet. Just pains from my belly being heavy and hip pains.
QOTD2 - I haven't started packing anything yet. We still don't have the diaper bag. That's the goal for this week is to get some stuff packed.
makeup/hair - Lora, I had been wondering the same thing. I plan on taking my stuff with me and if I can get to it, I'll fix myself up. I just hope that I don't go into labor during the middle of the night after I have been asleep for awhile. My hair is so short it looks like a rat's nest after I wake up. Maybe I should pack a hat? this is when I wish I had long hair to pull into a ponytail.
Since my hips really bother me while I sleep we put our extra down comforter under me on my side of the bed last night. I slept much better on the extra cushiness.
I have my 36 week appt this afternoon and then we're making our last trip to our hometown (2 hrs away) for the last baby shower. My MIL is hosting for their side of the family.
Melissa, that was an eventful appt for sure! I know you want to go as early as possible, but August 2nd sounds like heaven to me right now!
Sonya, more contractions, huh? Will be watching for updates on you all weekend for sure!!!
Carla, that's got to be a scary choice to make. I know there was a VBAC thread on WC-maybe that would be helpful to you. More reassuring at least than the the horror stories on the net?
(is it mean of me that I am secretly hoping none of us deliver in July because I don't want the group to break up???? :o :( )
Speaking of delivering in July, who oh who is going to be first, I wonder???:D
Sal asked me last night when we'll find out if I need to have a c-section or not. This poor man really has no idea what we're in for. I am so thankful that we are starting lamaze classes on Monday! :p Anyway, he asked me something about how I will feel if I have to have a c-section and I said "I don't care either way-I just want this kid out of me!" Honestly, I *am* a little curious about what it will be like to go through the whole vaginal delivery experience, but I certainly won't be upset if it doesn't work out that way. What are everyone else's thoughts on this? Are you tied to the entire L&D experience-emotionally attached to the idea so to speak? Will you be devastated if you have to have a c-section? Or are you like me and just anxious to get the baby out one way or another?
Leslie's QOTD I am definitely not emotionally tied to the vaginal birth experience. As much as I would LOVE for that to be the way it turns out, and not to not have to have major abdominal surgery, I am not going to be devastated IF that is what turns out to be best for little man and me. As long as we are both healthy in the end of it, I will be happy. :D
Melissa, I'm sorry, somehow I missed your post up above while I was posting my own. I'm sorry to hear that things are progressing this way, and that suddenly you've been given a deadline. I'd gladly trade you my cervix, which seems to be in a big hurry to get this baby out. ;)
I think Sonya will be the first deliver. She might even beat Tina, whose boys seem to be quite cozy in their current home! :p
What are everyone else's thoughts on this? Are you tied to the entire L&D experience-emotionally attached to the idea so to speak? Will you be devastated if you have to have a c-section? Or are you like me and just anxious to get the baby out one way or another?
Well, Leslie, as I mentioned above, because I have gone through both, it's hard not to compare the two experiences. I preferred the vaginal birth experience by far. BUT, I didn't have a conscious c-section. They knocked me out, and when I woke up, I couldn't even remember why I was in the hospital in the first place. :( As much as labor pains hurt with my son, I really cherished the experience of feeling like I had to work really, really hard for this wonderful feeling of accomplishment that tops anything else I've ever done in my life. Make sense?
But, and I know I've mentioned this before, I'm aware that anything can happen during the process of L&D, and the healthiest attitude I feel that I can have is to be prepared for it, and to accept it. In the long run, the only things that matter are a healthy baby and a healthy mom. :)
Carla I think if we just average out our cervixes (or is the plural cervi?) we may just get one decent, not too fast, not too slow, cervix.
I just keep telling myself that its still early and things can change pretty fast over the next few weeks.
A couple of things that make me worry now are my water breaking, the stress from the BHC's has to be going somewhere and if its not on my cervix, where the heck is it going? Also, what if his head is too big and he doesn't fit. That would stink.
That is one thing we do not want to hear, but we aren't even 36 weeks and things can change over night. Maybe things will progress now since you have had an internal. I know you and I have been talking about induction but it may be best for you and Evan. Fingers crossed you go at 38-39 weeks or shortly before Aug 2nd.
As for the rash, honey I am so sorry. You must be so uncomfortable. Keep applying the cream and take those baths to get you some relief. Try to rest this weekend. Keep us posted on how you are doing.
Nope, not one word. I am curious to see if she will have an opinion on it once I start having my internals. I wish I knew why it was that my mom had to have a c-section with me (other than the obvious fact that I weighed 10lbs 1oz). Did they just not let mothers deliver big babies back then or was she too small to pass a big baby like that?
Pubic bone pain
I know a lot of you are commenting on hip pain, expecially at night. Ive been dealing with it for quite some time now, as I have a hip defect which makes things pretty painful. I thought this might be helpful to some of you.
There is actually a condition that is above and beyond the normal pubic bone pain in pregnancy, but it does have a lot of the same symptoms. Its just one that lasts all day and is up a notch. Its called SPD. Here is a link to an article (http://www.plus-size-pregnancy.org/pubicpain.htm#Symptoms).
Anyway, those are some tips that I have found useful in helping with the pain that may be helpful with yall experiencing pain - expecially in bed:
rolling over in bed to keep my knees together when I move,
wearing satin PJs so I glide across the sheets easier,
keeping legs together with most motions like getting in and out of a car,
maternity belt when it still fit around me LOL,
and of course, pillows.
Bedrest has actually eased the pain quite a bit, so mostly I deal with it just at night.
Lora- Yes they can tell if your bone structure will give you problems at delivery or not. I don't know all the medical lingo, there may be someone who can explain this better, but your bones can be inward facing or outward facing. I have a smaller frame, was a size 4-6 before Scotty and at birth was 9lbs 11oz. They knew I would have a big baby but they never had an issue with it because when they do their first internal exam in the beggining they could tell my bones could handle it. Does that make any sence?
Leslie- My mom delivered me vaginally with no problems. There wasn't even word of a c-section. Actually they were trying to hold my head in while they wheeled her to the delivery room. I do know that things were different back then and maybe different hospitals had different rules.
hospital bag Ive had mine packed for a while now, Its just a carry-on size.
Light robe to cover up my backside if I get to walk around the L&D floor. I DO plan on wearing the hospital gowns. No sense in buying one (I don't own any night gowns that would be remotly hospital appropriate. LOL).
I have packed stretchy warm-up type pants and nursing tank top and a zipper hoodie to wear home. They are all maternity that Ive worn since around 12 weeks.
Ive packed 5/6 pairs of underwear, I have no idea what size or cut will be comfortable so I packed a variety - including granny pants that would sit well above an incision line if I have a c/s.
Socks - a couple pair of really warm socks and 2 pair of regular ones. Everyone says bring warm socks.
Sandles - I hear that sometimes you can swell up after a c/s, so I packed a pair of loose sandles incase I have a problem with my feet fitting into my current shoes.
Rubber bands to tie my hair back, clippies to clip my hair back if those work out better, and our overnight kit with toothbrush and toileties for both of us. I did add some nice smelling shampoo/contitioner, liquid soap and poof ball and lotion for a little pampering hoping it will make me feel better after delivery.
For DH I added 1 pair of jeans, 3 pairs of underwear and socks, 3 shirts and a pair of knit shorts for him to sleep in.
Disposable camera - incase DH forgets to grab the digital that we still use quite often. (so I don't want to pack it yet)
Baby Books for footprints
lists of phone numbers and email addresses
snacks and hard candy (granola bars, etc.) so DH doesnt have to find a vending machine.
chapstick, lotion and massage oil (hospital air is dry, and massage oil to have DH massage my back during labor)
Breast pads and lanoish cream
... I think thats about it.
I do have a note on top of the suitcase as a reminder to grab my hairdrier and make up (which is packed ready to go, but is in the bathroom), the digital camera, and the diaper bag which has babies clothes, etc. in it.
***
Val Congrats on your DHs promotion!!! Wooohoo!
Julie Good luck with the remodel! We don't have a bathroom upstairs either, and Ive often tried to come up with a way to turn our dormer into one. Our house is very symetrical though, and Im not sure how it would look. I would love to see pictures of yours when your done!
Good luck at your BFing class, I think bringing your DH is a great idea!
Sarah Check with your insurance company, most do pay for chiro care. And it does help. You can also check on massage therapy, mine covers that as well - so when I could, I would go to the chiro for an adjustment and then to the office next door (with the chiro referal) for a massage. It made quite a difference!
Carla Too funny about the movie!! My sister had a c/s with her first child, and for her 2nd & 3rd child, had a vaginal delivery. No problems at all!
Sonya Do your doctors have you on terb pills??
Bombedier Have fun at your class, and happy birthday to your DH!
Leslie Get those pictures scanned! I wanna see!!!
Lora That is so not a stupid question! Im bringing my hairdryer, make up and hair stuff - just incase I feel like being somewhat presentable. My hair doesnt dry well (think bozo the clown) unless its blow-dried...stupid frizzy ratty natural curl. So, Im bringing my stuff. But Im also bringing hair bands and clippies incase Im not up to it.
Also, since Ive gone through 4 sizes of maternity clothes, I had a really hard time trying to figure out what size to pack for coming home.
Jennifer Congrats on the decision to quit work earlier, I can't imagine not taking time off, even if just to have some quiet time before labor! And have fun at your birthing class!
Melissa Im sorry to hear about the official PUPPS diagnoises. Ive heard how miserable that is, you poor thing! If the last month isn't awful enough as is. I hope your gallbladder turns out fine though, when will you hear back?
Im so jealous though, that you were able to schedule induction. My OB won't do that until I hit 38 weeks (which is full term for me).
Shell Have fun at your shower!!! Safe trip to you.
c/s or vaginal For me, Im nervous about a vaginal delivery for the simple question if baby A comes out fine, what happens if B turns or is already breach and they cant get him out? Then I get to recover from both. They will only do a vag delivery on me if A is head down, if B is breach - its my decision. If B is head down, they will try for a vaginal delivery. however, many times B will go "wow! look at all this room!" and then decide to be stubborn and flip or whatever. For that scary though, I would opt for a c/s (plus, then I don't have to labor!!!).
My friends who have had c/s have all said recovery was really no big deal. They had no problems with it and were up and around right away.
But...if I do have problems, I don't want to have a few weeks where Im just as invalid as I am now, so I would rather have a vag delivery and just block out all the "what-if's" with baby B. But of course, Im also concerned with more hemroids, and a weakened pelvic floor with a vag delivery. I know, I worry too much.
So...I don't know. They both have their pros and cons. I won't be upset either way - EXCEPT if I have to delivery one vaginally and one by c/s. That would be the only upsetting thing to me. It would totally SUCK!
I had a great appt yesterday. I had to wait an hour since they were doing some juggling due to several women going in to the hospital.
I found out that I am still closed and everything, but if I have any problems to call. My dr said that I was cramping pretty much because of my uterus excersizing, and that I might start to feel like there is a belt wrapped around me sometimes when it happens. I found out that Ben's head is shoved down, and the dr had fun asking if I have to pee a lot because of it. I am happy to hear that everything is great. I also asked her about my ped office, since I can't figure out which one to go to, she told me it is a great dilema since they are great doctors.
I got the Gerber nipple balm last night. It is lanolin free, which is great since I hate lanolin products. I feel so much better!!! I don't feel so much like my nipple is being sandpapered when it bumps something.
I told my mom that I was doing great and my cervix is closed, and she acted like I was upset that I am not about to have him. I had told her that I didn't know if I was going to make it to my due date. I wanted to cry. She keeps telling me that I will get to the point that I can't walk before I give birth. I don't think it is a given that he will pinch my nerves! And I also think that I will rest and relax if it gets to that point instead of crawling. I am getting really sick of putting up with her.
I agree Tina - both delivery methods have their pros and cons! For me, I would prefer not to go the c-section route as I am concerned about the recovery time afterward, infection in incision etc. (refreshing to hear from your friends that they had not probs with recovery). There is some mystique about the whole "pushing" that I am attached to...but of course, then there are the pelvic floor issues etc that you pointed out. In the end, I will take it as it comes - having a healthy me and baby is paramount.
Can they tell things like that?!?!
I'll have to respectfully disagree, and say no, they cannot. ALthough some people have larger pelvises and vaginas and some have smaller, your pelvis will get much larger when you are actually in labor. Even just a small change in position (like from lying on your back to squatting) can add as much as a centimeter or two to a small pelvis (a lot, in birthing terms). Even if you are told you have a small pelvis, don't believe it has anything to do with your ability to give birth. Small boned women didn't always die in childbirth before the c/s.
As for the QOTD, yes, I would be devastated by a c/s, to be honest. I am planning on a natural intervention-free birth, and a lot of things would have to go wrong in order for me to get transferred and have a c/s. In my case, there are too many risks for me and the baby for me to not be scared of having a c/s.
I just have to come back in here and share that the folks at my office threw me a shower this afternoon. It sure did make my day and help me feel so much better. I haven't been here that long, nor have I met that many people so it was really nice and very generous of them to throw me a shower. Its funny how your mood can change from one moment to the next.
Melissa~ Oh so sorry to hear about the itching and gall bladder, and everything. What a crazy appointment. I hope you can manage to go into labor a little earlier than the 2nd like you want.
ETA~ Yeah for your work shower!! How sweet. Some people can be so kind!
Snow~ My neighbor had a VBAC and was telling me all about it at my shower wednesday...she was very adament that she would rather do a vaginal delivery any day over a c-section even with all her added risks with a VBAC. I'll be praying that everything goes well and you can get what you want.
Sonya~ Sorry ot hear about your contrax last night...I had horrible ones as well...Dh thought I as going to die. Mine lasted only a few hours and weren't long enough to go to the hospital, but I was really in a lot of pain.
Leslie~ I'm not emotionally tied to a vaginal delivery at all. I must admit I'd rather be concious and awake during a c-setion if I have one, so I can actually experience that rush..especially since we are having a surprize, but there are a lot of things that scare me about a vaginal delivery too. I;m cool either way.
Tina~ Oh my neighbor is having twins also and she is scared about a vaginal and c-section delivery because of baby B flipping just like you. I don't blame you one bit...I hope they both come right out and that you can avoid the c-section all together.
Leslie~ Addiional quesiton fo ryou...you said you diaper bag was packed to the gills...what do you have in there?? I'm packing mine this weekend and woud love to know what other mamas have in theirs. :p
bomb Many of my friends and family have had c/s, I've never thought of them as scary or difficult to recover from. Now, Ive been with them through labor, and yikes...to me...that was scary!
Im so not emotionally attached to either way, as long as I don't have to go through both. LOL There are risks with either way.
I have to share a story of my friend in relation to pelvic size. If you were to look at her, she would probably ellicit the thought that she had "good birthing hips". But, when she went into labour with her fist child, the baby got good and stuck and they had to do an emergency c/s to save both her and the baby. I was amazed that they had not been able to tell that she would have had this problem (her pelvis was too narrow) during all of her doc appointments, but apparently they couldn't. Her second baby was an automatic scheduled c/s. This preys on my mind a little.....
I just got a phone call from the clinic that I am Group B Strep Positive. :( So that means that I will have to get antibiotics in labor, they will watch me more closely after my water breaks, etc. I was wanted to give a no-needle childbirth a good chance, but that is out now, at least the IV isn't continuous. Silly me, while I was on the phone with them, I had a hard time paying attention, because I was already composing this post, and planning which groups to post to.
C-Section I really don't want one, but a vaginal birth isn't a necessary moment in life for me either (at least I don't think it is, but maybe if I found I couldn't have one I'd feel differently). I'll try to avoid one as much as possible though, because 1) it's major surgery and I've never had surgery before and 2) we plan to have another baby someday, and it would be easier to not have to VBAC. That is, a healthy baby, healthy me is most important, but being healthy to me means I keep the ability to deliver future babies too, without a c-section going on my chart.
Hair and makeup I plan to look like utter crap in labor, then look nice afterwards when visitors come. A friend told me that her one regret in labor was not having a headband (her hair isn't long enough for a ponytail). Having her hair in the way drove her crazy. I can totally see this happening to me, because when I go work out - if I forget my ponytail, and I can't scrounge a rubber band somewhere, I will just skip the workout and go home instead of dealing without a ponytail. I plan to look as badly in before birth as I do while working out, except I imagine it will be much worse. There will be photos, but I'll screen them before distributing. I'm definitely bringing a blow dryer and make-up for the rest of the hospital stay though, and will take a lot of pictures after that shower.
Mornings I feel and look awful, every morning when I wake up. When I sit/stand for the first time, I feel pressure in my cervix, shooting pains in my wrists, my belly re-adjusts itself and there's all over soreness. I can't walk faster than a shuffle, and then I look in the mirror and my eyes are like little slits. By the time I get to the toilet I'm ready to sit down again. Thank God all this only lasts for about 5 minutes, and by the time I'm in the shower I feel like myself again. It's been like this for several weeks now.
Well, by my dates, I am still 36 weeks, but by my chart I am already 37 weeks. Full term! We have so much left to do, I am not ready.
Holly, sorry about the +GBS.:(
Jennifer, I have all of the normal diaper bag stuff that I probably don't necessarily need for the hospital (plus more). Especially since we're like 15 minutes from there. lol I just got so excited about packing that I went overboard! Let's see...2 different sized onesies, 2 different outfits, a burp cloth, socks, a changing pad, several diapers in Newborn and size 1, wipes, lotion, Desitin, a pacifier in a case, Purell, and I think that's it. For what it's worth, I packed both diaper bags that I own with general items that I would need for any trip out of the house and only added the clothes and what not to the diaper bag that I'm bringing to the hospital.;)
I think Peanut has moved from transverse back into normal position - though I don't don't if the head is down or up. I have been feeling pokes in my ribs all day today. If the head is down, I don't think it is a low as it was beforehand as I don't feel that same pressure in my pelvis. Although I am pretty uncomfortable from all the poking in the ribs today....I will take it! I am happy that Peanut is out of transverse position.
This whole idea of bone structure and the ability to deliver a large baby got me thinking. I found this article on Ivillage that is interesting. Seems like its just about everything that can affect the ability to deliver, size of the baby, mother's size/ability to dialate properly, mother's state of mind, and so forth. Interesting, nonetheless.
While it is a woman's pelvic structure that determines the diameters that the baby must navigate, there is more to the pelvis than the apparent visual aspects of size and shape.
Although a woman may appear to have small hips, she may have more than adequate internal measurements. There are about 16 different aspects to the pelvis; however, a few of the most important are the internal diameters, the shape of the pelvis, the curve of the sacrum and the inclination of the pelvic bones.
Each of these aspects may be assessed at the initial prenatal visit, although some practitioners do not do this. Those who do not perform "pelvimetry" feel that this assessment is uncomfortable for the patient and would not change the course of the pregnancy or alter the initial stages of labor.
Other than the initial pelvimetry performed in the office, there are no specific tests that can be performed. MRI or Xray measurements of the pelvis would only assess one P, but the three others are just as important. Such tests are never requested during pregnancy as every mother deserves a trial of labor.
Genetics do play a small role in successful vaginal birth. If a five foot woman and a six foot man conceive a child, it is likely that she would have a baby that is larger than if she had a baby with a smaller man. But the contribution of that extra foot is small.
No cesarean should be scheduled on the basis of pelvic assessment alone because there is more to labor than the bony pelvis. The four Ps of labor assessment must also be considered:
1. "Powers," also known as maternal contractions, can be strong and capable of dilating the cervix and moving the baby down or they may be poor or dysfunctional. Sometimes these "powers" can be augmented with the use of rest, fluids, medications for pain or by oxytocin, a uterine stimulant. Another aspect of the "powers" is the maternal efforts. If a mother is frightened, exhausted or feels unsafe, she might not work as well with her body and her contractions. She may be unable to effectively push during the second stage of labor. Sometimes medications can decrease a mother's ability to work with her own body as well.
2. "Passage" refers to the pelvic shape and size. It cannot stand alone as a determinant of vaginal birth unless it is congenitally misshapen or fractured without the benefit of appropriate healing. Other determinants of the "passage" are the quality of the soft tissue and muscles of the pelvic floor.
3. "Passenger" refers to the baby. It is important to note that even mothers with small pelves can give birth to large babies if the other Ps are working for them. In our practice the other day, a mother had an 11 pound baby, despite being only 4 feet 11 inches tall! In a similar vein, I have seen women with large pelves who are not able to birth small babies vaginally.
4. "Psyche" refers to the mother's state of confidence, as well as the support she feels from those around her. Midwives are experts at supporting the efforts of mothers during labor. They can also teach fathers and others in the birthing area how to assist the mother. Attending childbirth education classes and reading will also help to increase knowledge and confidence. Having a "doula" or woman attendant has been shown to decrease the risk of cesarean birth for this same reason.
Oh yeah-I packed a blanket, too! Totally forgot about that. It goes with one of the outfits. It's very tiny, though, so I don't think it would be good for swaddling. Maybe just for throwing over the baby in the car seat while we're in the car since the AC will be on no doubt!
Tina - going back a couple of pages, I think we've been cursed with the same hair genetics! I can't let mine dry naturally - I have a natural curl that doesn't go curly enough - it's more like a kinky frizzy afro. And unfortunately, I don't know if a blowdryer will be allowed at my hospital or not, so chances are I'll have to wing it without one.
Daniel's Kitty - The stuff about your mom sounds familiar. My mom had a lot of emotional faults that I wasn't fond of, but rest assured, being aware of them is half the battle in making sure that you don't wind up the same way. My DH only met her a handful of times before she passed away, but he saw some of those faults in her (she was an extreme case - please don't think there is any direct comparison, as I obviously don't know anything about your mom besides what you have said here) and he has been very sensitive and understanding in helping me to see when I'm falling into some of her negative patterns.
Alright, I swear I will pack my hospital bag today. Right after I stop surfing the net aimlessly. :D
Oh my, I cannot keep up. There are so many things that I want to reply to, but everytime I go to reply there are more topics.
Rude Comments - I am so sorry for those of you who are putting up with rude comments from friends, co-workers, and family. I cannot believe what people will say to a pregnant woman. I have been so blessed that no one has said anything outrageous to me. In fact, I've been told so many times how beautiful I am that I'm actually starting to believe it (until I look in the mirror :p). ETA Okay, this sounds really vain. I don't mean it that way. Maybe people are just too scared to tell me the truth. Actually, all I mean is that I'm lucky that people are only saying the right things to me. I don't think I could handle it if people said some of the things you all are hearing.
Those 3D pictures were amazing Sarah. I can't imagine that your family would have anything negative to say about them. Your son is precious and he will be when he's born too. I am mad for you. I think some people are just so uncomfortable that they have no idea how what they are saying might affect the mother. Stupid people. :(
Diaper Bags, Hospital bag, etc. - I got a list from another online friend of mine for what to pack. It is part of a document that is seven pages long (it includes necessary items to have on hand, what to pack when you travel, etc.). If anyone wants a copy of this, just let me know, and I will email it out. It went with me to BRU last weekend when I stocked up on the things I hadn't gotten off of my registry yet. FWIW I have been told by a number of moms to NOT pack a nightgown. Apparently you get really bloody and nasty after birth (even C-sections) so there is no point in ruining a good nightgown. I don't know about a robe, though. It sounds like a good idea in theory, I'm just wondering if it also would get all nasty with afterbirth.
I haven't packed my bag yet, though. I don't even have a diaper bag yet. Talk about procrastinating. I really need to get on that. This weekend, I swear.
Make-up/looking nice - I have been thinking about this too. I think I will wear a headband during delivery to keep my hair off of my face, and I've been using self-tanner so that I don't look half bad without make-up. In my ideal world I'm all made up, but then I think it can take a long time and I don't know if make-up can withstand all the rigors of sweat, etc. We'll see.
Ideal Birth - My ideal birth is one that produces a healthy baby and keeps me alive. If that means C-section - so be it. I think it is best to not get your heart set on something because so many things can change in the blink of an eye. I talked to my oldest sister last night about her two labors and it was eye-opening. I wrote about it in my LJ so I won't talk about it here, but talk about not getting your ideal birth experience. My other sister actually delivered her second baby in the car on the way to the hospital. I think I've heard everything now so I am prepared for even the craziest circumstance. I think the only thing that will surprise me is if it is completely textbook :)
TMI - I have finally figured it out. I don't have to pee anymore than the average person, but I do think the little guy is resting on my colon. Holy moly! Things are getting really active in that area. I have to go #2 about 10 times a day. WTF! I get no warning either. As soon as I feel it I have to run to the bathroom. It has been particularly problematic today. I had to leave a meeting TWICE to go to the bathroom. This is going to get old really quickly.
My one worry with Jim and Pete...both refer to male anotomy (which I SO did not know until a teenage friend laughed at the names). The many functions of a receiving blanket:
I used mine for:
- swaddling
- burp cloths (please, like I need to buy a separate piece of flannel for the baby to barf on?)
- breast pads...yes, breast pads. I had this serious leakage problem when I was breastfeeding - when nursing on the one side, the other side would "let down", or turn on like a faucet. I was tired of wasting disposable nursing pads every time I fed the baby, so I would just shove a receiving blanket down my bra. :D
- light blanket to block the sun out in a pinch, or the wind, or the rain
- parachute in case of the sudden need to escape from a second story window from the in-laws
Ok, so maybe I exaggerated on the last one, but I used receiving blankets for darned near everything. It's like duct tape for mommies - a million and one uses. ;)
Julie Oh good! My DH is planning on going to my BF class, too, and I wasn't sure if I should let him. I know that most hubbies don't, but that it would be good for him to. I just didn't know if it would make the other women uncomfortable. Now, since I'll need him to remember things as well, I'll just go with it and have him come.
Melissa Wow! August 2nd! I hope you don't have to be inducted, that it all happens naturally, but I am also jealous that you know that the end is near. My EDD is August 2nd, and I'm praying that she comes earlier or no later than that.
QOTD1 No back pain, but she's managing to hit a nerve right at my groin that is excrutiating. And it looks great when I suddenly grab my crotch, grimace, and bend over. People can't tell if I'm going in to labor or have incredibly bad bladder control. :rolleyes:
QOTD2 Packing the bag. I've packed almost all my stuff, I think, though I need to add a disposable camera and the baby book. Question: Do we need to bring clothes for the baby for every day?? Or will baby wear hospital clothes until it's time to go home??
Leslie The only reason I really don't want a C-section (and this is only if the baby's health isn't an issue) is because I still remember recovering from my appendicitis, and it wasn't fun. I know it's different, but they are also similar in nature and area - with the appendectomy being the easier, and I wouldn't like to have that recovery AND try to take care of an infant.
Holly Sorry for the GBS+. I took mine today, so I guess I'll find out soon.
I had my 36w appt today. My Dr. was in surgery, so I had her partner (who I've had before). Sad to say that I prefer this other Dr. She TALKS to me, and asks me questions, where my Dr. just kind of bustles through. But after being with her for 10 yrs, I don't think I could leave her for a woman IN her office. :o But she did tell me that baby girl is in position, head down and back to my right side. I guess that means that her shoulder is what's pinching that nerve in my groin area. Ouch!
Well I have been awful and just lurked the last couple of days. There are so many replies that I don’t think I can hit them all here. Please forgive me. I have 2 weeks left at work, and I wish I did the max off and made it only one. This week I am miserable. I am so tired I cannot even explain. I feel like the first tri when I would sleep in my car at lunch. I have another chair pulled over to pull my feet up because they are sooooo swollen. – think about a permanent indent where the strap from the flip flops go!
****Side note while I was typing this one of the HR AVP’s came by – she saw how I was working and flipped out. My monitor has now been moved, I have a wireless ergonomic keyboard on my lap and the wireless mouse right here – nice – had to close all my explorer windows though LOL!*****
Well yesterday every time I refreshed I got the /// error so I did not post. I wanted to tell you that I think I added all the girls I knew in the Aug mom thread on LJ to my journal. If you are not added then let me know. I do everything over there as a friends post and of course I want you ladies to see the pics. Also if you notice a weirdo friend you – yup that would be me! ;)
Well our pool is awesome and it is so nice to swim and just get the pressure off. I have total edema in my ankles…I press into them and the dent stays. It is awful! I go in the pool and I feel some relief and the swelling going down. Funny thing is now I cannot dive to the bottom – it is HARD I just float back to the top.
Baby slings…well I have been debating between a pouch and a ring sling, and I think I will get the ring first. I am unsure about my pouch size because my size has changed soooo dramatically with this pregnancy and a bunch of the weight according to the doc is just me being bloated – gotta be fun!!! I am in LOOOOOVE with the very expensive oopa slings though. I talked to DH and he said I can use some of the cash we got from the shower for the sling. So in stacyland that reads: use the cash and by two slings and let him only see the cost of one. I KNOW I AM THE WORST!!!! So right now I am going to get an oopa or two and a peanut shell, just not sure about the size. There is also http://www.zolowear.com which is gorgeous. I hear they have sales so I want to wait for that…but I will be getting one of those soon. YES I KNOW I AM AWFUL! I just want to get one to match all my outfits – I am that bad…
Bag being packed – that is on the agenda this weekend. DH has his packed – cracks me up though HE TOOK THE LARGER SUITCASE/CARRYON!!! Umm hello – you are not popping the kid out here I AM! We still have to pack R’s bag. I am going to use B’s skip hop dash and I hope it is large enough for all R’s stuff he will need. I am a CRONIC over packer. I have the sling tote in gold flower that I have been using for my purse – because it carries a good size water bottle and snacks which I need now – but it has me wondering if the kid stuff will fit too.
The house – we still have not finished the nursery – is anyone else as far behind as me? Did anyone paint? I am curious because DH is FREAKING OUT about the VOCs and me painting. Tomorrow he is going to WSP concert an hour away – I am sad but not going sitting on cement stairs at the Greek Theatre does not sound comfy right now – and I am thinking of painting while he is gone. Do you think I would do much damage if I did that or is he just freaking out? I mean what can he do if he comes back and it is painted right??? Also – do you paint a chair rail before or after it goes on the wall??? Ours is black so I am debating…
General Replies:
Rude people/emails – I say #*$&#(*&$#)*($&#)*$& to them. They are jerks smoking crack if they think you are huge or the baby looks squished. I ONLY see GORGEOUS mommies to be here and beautiful babies. You know we could wrangle up a posse and go whip some bootie…imagine that 20 9mo pregnant ladies knocking the rude jerkos of the world out of commission ;)
Makeup – umm yeah I am bringing makeup. If I cannot do my hair it will be in a bun – still looks nice but easy to do. I am a freak. Also I am getting my hair colored in a week so my highlights are done for delivery. LOL doc said once a trimester and I have been holding this one off. I think I am going blonder because my hair was WAY TOOO dark in those shower pics.
Ideal Birth – ummm I wake up and it is done. I KNOW I sound AWFUL, but I am so scared out of my gourd I am in DENIAL!!!! We started a birth plan but I don’t know how our insurance or doc will take it. I need to bring it to our appointment next Friday.
Okay new one – Sex – is anyone else scared it will bring on labor now? I want little man to stay as long as needed – I am not ready yet LOL – well anyways DH & I have been doing good, but now I am scared. I have contractions every time afterwards, and I just think we should hang out for at least a few more weeks. I won’t even let him near my chi-chis now. Is it still safe? I think we should wait until we talk to the doc…but I don’t know. Sorry for being too personal if I am.
Darn it is time to go home!!!!
Awwww! So cute, Carla!
Who knew there were so many possible uses for receiving blankets??? The only ones we received were the flannel Classic Pooh ones-we got 2 packs of those. No waffle weave. Might have to look for some of those!
Ladies, DH and I are going to be in need of your prayers I think. Nothing baby related (hopefully) but on Sunday we expect to be hit by Hurricane Dennis. It is expected to be a category 4 hurricane by landfall. Last year we experienced Hurricane Ivan and it totally destroyed my area. Many, many people were left without homes. This one is even stronger. I am fearful for our safety. DH won't even be able to stay with us, since he is a police officer, he has to work the storm. So I also get to worry about his safety the entire time. And if the damage is as bad as we expect, I won't really see him much for two weeks or so afterward since he will have FEMA duty to help stabilize and rebuild the area. With Ivan we were without power for a week and a half. Very icky in the summer! Keep us in your thoughts please!
Alex- Oh, I hope everything is okay! I am hoping Dennis passes you bye and that you stay safe and dry.
Carla- Those are so adorable- you have sweet friends. :D
QP- I think waffle are best for swaddling, IIRC. They stretch more, whereas the regular ones don't have much give. In terms of induction techniques, there are tons. Sex, walking, castor oil (don't try this without a Dr or MW approval- it can be bad), pineapple, chicken parmagiana (really!), some herbs, etc. Sex worked for me. :D
RedsGirl- Awesome that your DH is coming with you to the class. I think it'll be really helpful to have him hear all the benefits and techniques- a lot of women I know were pushed into using formula on thos hard nights when the DH didn't want to see his wife struggle any more. If he's educated about it, he'll be more likely to offer support.
ITA...and they tend to kind of adhere to themselves a bit so that helps. With Drew, we would wrap him in the flannel because its tighter and then wrap a waffle one around it because it helped keep the flannel one in place.
Don't worry, he was never overheated, even in FL in the summer.
Alex Sweetie, I feel so horrible for you guys up there in the Panhandle. We've had nasty squalls all morning long. The wind and rain are horrible once they get kicked up. I wish we were closer together so I could offer you some help, in any way. Please stay safe and contact me if there is anything, at all, I can do to help you.
Carla What adorable invitations! Your friends rock!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As of today, i'm officially one month away from my due date. I was out and about a bit this morning and people were asking me how much longer until the baby is born, I actually got to say three weeks. I've come to terms with it and I'm actually cutting myself some slack about everything now. I'm not being such a wimp and i'm actually doing things that I want/need to get done, whereas before, I was babying myself way too much. I'm going to clean the house today, started shopping for Drew's birthday, something I really wanted to get done before Evan is born and i'm on maternity leave. I may even cook Mike a nice dinner tonight.

I'm also going to order some breastfeeding supplies that I saw in the One Step Ahead Catalog (http://www.onestepahead.com). Here are some pictures of the BM storage containers and bags...

They have some neat stuff. I'm excited about trying these out.

Melissa - Thanks for posting those. They look really handy for storing bm. I am trying to figure out how best to do the storage and that looks like a great option.

Alex - Sending out good vibes your way for Dennis to stay away. I can't imagine having to deal with storms at this point. I've heard that storms can bring on labor sometimes. Like the hopitals are always more full on days with storms and full moons.

Sex - We just did it the other day and no contractions, but I did get some brownish CM. It freaked me out a little, but then I realized that brownish blood is old blood so it probably doesn't mean anything. I think I'm opposite of you - Stacy. I am hoping this guy comes early. As of tomorrow I'm 36 weeks and I'm ready for him to come already.

BF Class - My DH is going with me. I think ours said "partners encouraged" too. I didn't want to be the only one without a partner so that's why he's coming :)

Receiving Blankets - I posted about this in my LJ too. I got a ton of them and I was worried I wouldn't know what to do with them. I got lots of feedback on how to use them. I think all of the suggestions have been mentioned already.

QOTD - We might have already done this one, but is anyone else working up to the day that they go into labor like me? I'm a little worried about water breaking at work, but I don't want to use up my precious maternity leave before he is born. I've just noticed a couple of you already know when you are done with work, and I thought maybe I was weird for not doing that.

Janet I was really excited when I found those storage containers. Last time I stored them in a gallon sized Ziplock freezer bag, double bagged. I like this idea so much better.

I'm planning to work right up until the last minute, just like I did last time. I actually went into labor while I was out on my lunch break...how's that for efficiency?

I took a few precautions, such as, making sure I had someone who was willing to drive me to the Dr., Hospital, or home if I went into labor while I was there. I packed a tote bag that I hid in my desk that had a towel, some pads, and a pair of standard black jogging pants (I got them for like $10 at Target and they go with everything). I left it under there just in case my water broke. It didn't so I never had to use it. I actually brought it home after I went back to work when my maternity leave ended. No one was the wiser.

Just make sure that you or your DH have the bags in the car all the time so that if you have to go right to the hospital, you have everything you need.

Oh wow! Those silly twin babies that want to come early! I just read that her babes will have to stay in the hospital until the end of September. :( Prayers going up for her and her family.

Melissa, those storage containers are awesome! If I'm going to be pumping and storing a lot of milk, we'll need to get one of those mini freezers as our freezer is tiny and packed now as it is. But, I'm thinking I won't need to keep up a huge storage being a SAHM?:confused: I hate that this is one of those things that are up in the air. Why isn't it a given that bf'ing will work out????

QOTD-I have absolutely zero intention of working until I deliver, but I'm not returning to work, so I'm not worried about using up my maternity leave.

Just jumping in with a quick update! We bought a Dodge Durango today! Its a 2000, its a copper color with black leather interior. Yeah!!! We have something we can bring the babies home in!!!!

September babies - you must mean Mittyrd/Missy? It sounds like her twins are doing great though. Much better than anticipated for their gestation age. Her boys are identical (mono/mono as oppose to me with di/di), its the more rarer type of twins, and had a much greater risk for developing complications as well as delivering early. Its awesome that she and her boys are doing so well. Its fairly common that when born early, they stay in the hospital until around their actual due date.

Wow there is no way that I can possibly try to respond to all the topics but I'll try to do just the last few!

Alex I hope that you are safe and the strom passes with minimal damage! I know exactly how you feel about your hubbby, my DH is a police officer too and I have to worry about him all the time, I can't imagine being without him for two weeks right now :(

Stacy I am still not done with the nursery either, I did the majority of the painting, and will be doing some sanding and painting this weekend. From what I have heard the paint now a days is mostly water based, and doesn't contain lead like in the past so as long as you keep the room ventilated you should be fine (I also wore a face mask, just to be on the safe side).

Working till the end Being a teacher I was lucky to get off of work in June, but seeing as I have been layed off the decision to be a SAHM was sorta made for me. It really couldn't of happened at a better time. I am doing some mobile notary work on the side so I still get some extra spending cash which will be nice. I don't know how you guys are doing it working till the end. My feet and hands are so swollen I can't get shoes I bought a size bigger on :eek: and I am just so tired all the time, I feel like I can't be on my feet for very long, and being a preschool teacher that really wouldn't work out! My hat is off to you ladies working to the end!

Hospital bag I have purchased everything and washed peanuts outfit all I have to do it pack it! Yes I am bringing make-up I figured since I am one of those who can't let their hair air dry in fear of looking like I stuck my finger in the socket I could throw my hair in a pony tail and with a little makeup look semi-decent.
My neighbor who had her baby last week was only in the hospital 24 hours, so I am wondering if I am over packing, at our hospital tour the nurse said only bring what you fit in a gallon ziplock baggy!!! Are you kidding me, she might be in a bit of a shock when she sees me comming in with my Louie travel bag ;)

Rude people I am still shocked and amazed by the amount of rude people in this world. Just today I was sitting watching DH play softball in a tournament for work (which was in a park), as I sat on the bleachers a man about 3-4 feet away lights up a cigarette, which I thought okay we are in a public park he can do what he choses right! Well not as soon as I get that thought through my head does he come over and litterally sit right next to me!!!!! :mad: I looked at him like are WTF??? it's not like he was sitting their and decided to light up it was if he intentally came to smoke next to me!! DH was on the field with all his work buddies and this other guy was on an opposite team which means he was probably an officer or a fireman so I didn't want to make a big deal out of it cause I know DH would have said something to him so I just got up and walked away. I was just so shocked over this guys lack of consideration
Sorry for the rant I just had to get if off my chest!

Alex I am thinking of you and all the other gals in FL today dealing with this storm! I hope you are safe and protected and your DH as well! I wish there was something more I could say or do! Let us know as you can how things are going!

Working QOTD Everyone keeps asking me when I'm going to stop working and my usual response is "We'll see!" Right now I am doing ok. I prefer not to use any of my maternity leave (I'll have 16 weeks) before Noah is even here. I figure I will see how I'm feeling in the next few weeks! My work place is SO accomodating to me (their first preggo on the job!) :D so I can't complain much. But I don't want my water to break at work and have to leave straight from there to the hospital by myself! So we'll see. I would really love to be at home preparing for baby the exact week before he's born, but who knows when that will be. :)

Tina Congrats on the new car!

Mickey&B Sorry about the rude smoker man. It is incredible how many people don't give a crap and are so self-focused. Just out running errands yesterday people clammored past me and made me hold open doors for them and their crew (even their men!) to get inside a shopping center...not just once either, like two different places I had to go for errands! Nice. People are so classy today aren't they?

Receiving blankets Thanks everyone for the tips! We'll see how many I end up with post-shower next weekend.

Back to sleep/couch for me...DH is working at the Air Show today with the AF and today's my day to rest up! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Enjoy today!

I wanted to come on today to check on our Florida girls. I hope everyone is doing o.k. in the hurricane. I'm sure they won't be able to log on for a bit, but I hope they do as soon as possible to let us know they're o.k.

Keri and Erika Welcome! Gladl you ladies found us/were able to join us. And glad to hear that everything's going well.

Tina, I bet you didn't think Missy would deliver before you, though. I'm glad to hear her twins are doing well, or as well as can be expected. You're still the rock star for holding on to your boys. How many weeks are you, now?!

The honor of being the first to give birth is still up in the air, Ladies. :D My girl has no intention of going for the title. She's head down, but still so far up that her butt is sitting on my diaphragm. :rolleyes:

I had my last(?) shower yesterday. This was from my g.f./sorority sisters and sister. It was great. At a restaurant. They had everyone take 2 poloroid pics with me when they arrived, then, at the end, they got a "thank you for coming" card that had a picture in it, and I got an album of me with all the attendees. Everything was in lavender and purple, and had little Eiffel Towers everywhere (to match the bedding they gave me the $$ to buy!). We played a couple of games, including match the baby picture to the right person at the party (hard!) and "name the baby food" (by look, not smell or taste). Last, I finally got gifts OFF THE REGISTRY!!! Probably 10 items or so.

We got: the activity gym; the portable cradle swing, the wipes warmer, a baby bather, bottles, etc. I even got some receiving blankets!! :) It was really fun. DH came at the end and said thank you and we were gone. We have pictures, so I'll try to download tonight and figure out this Shutterbug system (I have msn).

Red, your shower sounds like fun! I love that baby picture game, it is hard, but Its neat to see what everyone looked like as a baby.

It was a surprise that Missy already delivered, but with the type of twins she was carrying, its not surprising. Im just so thankful they didn't develop any serious complications like twin-to-twin transfusion - the entire reason Im thankful mine are mono/mono-type twins.

And Im 35 weeks yesterday! One more week till the "average" delivery time! (well, they come between 34-37, but the 'average' time is 36 - full term being 38). DH wants me to go to 38 weeks because thats the timeframe he will be allowed time off of work. I *am* starting to get a little nervous/curious about when labor might start - and whats going to happen.

We're OK down here in Tampa, I sure hope Alex is doing OK. I know they are just about to get the worst of mean 'ol Dennis.

Red's What a fun shower! Are you getting the Eiffel tower bedding from Land of Nod?

Tina You're my hero! I'm totally amazed at your strength and ability to hold on these last few weeks. Your boys are going to be so big and healthy. You should be proud of yourself!! Congrats on the new ride, new cars are so much fun!

Sarah I think your doing the right thing, playing it by ear on when to stop working. You'll wake up one day and either you'll be in labor or you'll know it's the right time to throw in the towel. Hopefully Noah times his arrival accordingly.

Michelle That person sounds so rude. I think, for me, the whole smoking issue makes me even more mad than the rude preggo comments. I get so angry when folks light up in a crowd, knowing full well, that they are making others uncomfortable. Glad to hear things are going well for you!!

Anyone else feel like they can't get enough to eat lately??? I swear I eat my meals and snacks and soon after I'm hungry AGAIN. I keep reading in the stupid pregnancy books that you are less hungry now because your stomach is compressed, but, OF COURSE, that is not happening to me!
Its on and off.
For the past couple of weeks, I haven't had any appetite. Food sounds gross. The other day though, so many things sounded good and I ate like a pig! Resulting in heartburn, of course. Back to everything sounds gross, if I didn't get hungry, I wouldn't eat. Even water is giving me heartburn today! Aggg!!!

It's okay Leslie, I'm right there with you - I can't stop eating! LOL I'm seriously hungry ALL the time. At least, it feels that way. ;)

Tina I'm so excited that you've made it so far! These boys are going to be so healthy. :) I can't wait for their arrival though (as if you can! LOL)...

Thinking about our mommies who are braving Dennis today. Hope everyone is safe and well.

Im to the point now where its no big deal anymore, Im finally relaxed! I feel like Im right on schedule as if it were just one baby. Its like - I finally have all my health issues balanced out and Im actually enjoying pregnancy. Well, okay, this heartburn I have all day, and the insomnia I have all night suck, but yall are right there with me on that.

It seems surreal that it could be any day -- or up to three weeks from now. LOL I still can't imagine life with a baby, let alone two of them! LMAO

Tomorrow is my last level 2 to check their progress and weights!

leslie I am so glad I am not the only one who feels hungry all the time!! I kept hearing the same that you aren't suppossed to feel so hungry and I kept thinking okay when is that going to happen? Dr's appt on Wed well see how much weight I have gained

Tina So glad those boys have decided to stay put, and that you are finally able to relax and enjoy just being pregnant!! I am right there with ya on the insominia in the last few nights I have gotten up at around 3 or 4 wide awake thinking about how much I still needed to get done before this baby arrives. I don't think you have gotten much bigger at all for having two babies in that tummy I can't believe how tiny you are!

LILRTL cute belly girl!

Hope you florida girls are all doing okay!

Nothing new to report, I have been working like a crazy woman to get this nursery together and my body really feels worn down. Last night I had the worst BHC I have ever felt, for about 45 minutes I kept getting this stabbing pain on the left side of my lower belly, they were comming about every 1 to 3 minutes I had to literally breath through them, God if that was any indication of what labor will be like I am not looking forward to it :confused:

The good news is that I have my hospital bag packed, by the way a friend who just had her baby recommended I bring my Ipod downloaded with some soothing music or something so I went ahead and did that don't know if I'll end up using it but it's packed.
I got the car seat washed and ready, waiting by the door :)
and the floor boards and most of the trim in the nursery is done!!! We have our shower this weekend so I wanted to have it done by then!

Okay, I've just gotten caught up but I cannot possibly do SOs because ladies...I had to read 28 PAGES!! I admit, I've been skimming all along, but I had to go back to make sure I didn't miss anything and now my brain is FRIED! :p I hope you understand!

Thanks for all the useful info that's been posted(slings, storage bags for BM, labor, hospital packing, etc).

I'm glad Lora asked about "making up" at the hospital. I've been wondering who would think I was nuts for wanting to "look presentable." Now whether I'll feel like primping...that's another story!

Vag/C-sec - I am absolutely mortified of having a vaginal birth. To the point of serious anxiety. My DR and I talked about this at the very beginning, I expressed my fears of dying (and I know it's highly unlikely) and even talked about my nightmares...ones that left me hyperventilating & thinking I had died.........*AGAIN*. After giving me my first exam(internal) and talking with me about these things, he thought that a C sect would be best for me. Not solely because of my body, and not solely because of my fear, but together. What he basically said was that if we planned it, it would be more of a "routine" (albeit MAJOR) surgery. I LIKE knowing when I'll deliver. I LIKE knowing that they'll cut me because that's the plan and NOT because of some emergency, I don't think I could emotionally handle hearing that things aren't going right and they need to prep me for a C. I have been warned that the recovery is worse. I have been warned that it's a major surgery. I have been chastised for "planning" something that is "supposed to be the most natural thing in life." And I have been laughed at repeatedly for thinking I might die in labor, but for me it's a REAL fear.

I DO NOT believe for a second that my DR would let me make a BAD decision regarding something as serious as bringing a life into the world, if I DID then he wouldn't be my DR would he? It REALLY pisses me off that people question my decision or feel the need to "inform" me about the choices I've ALREADY made. Am I not capable of making sound, reasonable judgement calls on my own at almost 27 years of age?? It feels like a total insult, like I wonder what they must think of me if I can't even pick the "right" doctor, or have the baby the "right" way, oh I'm sure I'll be a horrible mother to boot. Give me a flucking break. I'll step down of my personal soapbox now, I know I sounded pretty defensive & I apologize, but MAN it feels good to have gotten that off my chest!!

Onto Other Things:)

Loving all the belly pics & U/S!! I cannot believe we are so close now!!

I'm hoping our FL gals are still safe & that the weather wasn't too bad on you...please post ASAP and let us know you're alright!!

I cannot @#(*&% belive these rude ass people, what is WRONG with them?! Sorry for those of you having to deal with these jerks.:(

Things with me are going ok...I'm starting to get really uncomfortable sleeping, but I can't complain because my pregnancy's been good to me. I keep feeling like this girl is IN MY RIBS...she makes me short of breath, just getting IN bed is an event. Not to mention the fiasco it is to roll over. I'm still getting BHC once in a while, but not everyday. However they are more intense now than before. I STILL have not packed my hospital bag, and now I have NO excuse because I've copied great lists & ideas from you ladies in here. I'm starting to really dread the shower..it's coming up on 7/24 and I'll only be 3 weeks out from delivering...what was I thinking waiting so long(or should I say what were my GIRLS thinking??). I'm hoping to get some pro belly pics done soon, I have to call my photographer tomorrow and plan this soon.

As for right now, I am beat...I'm going to roam a little while longer on CC, then I've gotta hit the hay.
Hugs to all!;)

Lora, I can't get over how much you have dropped and how pointy you are! So cute!!!

Tina, I think your belly actually looks lower in the 33w pic than it does now.

About the heartburn, my dr told me to take Pepcid and I asked Sal why that works better. He said it stops the acid from forming altogether whereas Tums just kind of puts a bandaid on the burning if that makes sense.

About the cough, I had that cough in May and he said I could take the regular Robitussin, but that it probably wouldn't do any good, so I took nothing. I took about a week or 2 to go away and on top of that, I pulled a muscle in my back from coughing so much. :rolleyes: I hope yours gets better soon!

I kept getting this stabbing pain on the left side of my lower belly
Michelle, I was having the same thing last night, but on my right side. It was weird because I could feel Luke moving on my left side, but then I had the pain at the same time on the right. And, yes, I had to breathe through it, too. yikes. Afterwards, I touched that spot where it had hurt and it was actually tender. Weird. I had such a crappy night sleep after all of that. I woke up so many times-at one point I woke up feeling like I needed to push.:rolleyes: I'm sure I probably just needed to go to the bathroom. :o Needless to say, I had myself *convinced* that I was in labor and that I was going to find out at my dr's appt this morning that I am dialated to 4cm. Yeah right. More like she's going to tell me I'm still hard and closed. :rolleyes:

Anyway, awesome news about the nursery! Can't wait to see pics!!!

Kim, thanks for doing updates! :D
Good for you for getting off your chest. You know no one here would judge you anyway. Shoot, if my dr wasn't so by the book, I might have tried to talk her into a scheduled c myself! :p Now go get some rest!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that is hungry all the time. I'm going to ask my dr about it at my appt this morning. I'd really like to know exactly when it is that I'm going to stop being so hungry! lol

So this morning, I officially said to Fiston that he came come out now whenever he is ready. Mom and Dad are waiting for him! :p
WHoa! I just can remember when the stick turn positive, it seemed like it is so far now, it felt like we'd never get there!

This morning is my 2nd weekly exam. I'm really looking forward to what the doctor has to say. I don't think I had as many contraction this week, so I don't think I will have progress as much. I don,t feel like my belly is growing much if I compare myself to some of you guys. I know tht baby does def. takes more place in there, but I don't have a humongous belly. (wish again I had my digital :mad: ) Anyway, we'll see later this morning.

I hope you Florida girls are ok. I saw that Dennis was quite strong, but I haven't seen any further report.

Lora Cute belly girl!!!

Tina COngrats on the Durango!!! And yeah, you might have dropped a little, but you have def grown again! So gald these kids are where they are at right now! I'm sure you must feel more relaxed!
It seems surreal that it could be any day -- or up to three weeks from now.
Yeap, I'm with you on this!!! My sister called last night to plan something with me, and she was telling me how she was scared it was too close to my due date...Euhhh I could deliver tonight dear! :p or in one month!!!

Food It depends for me too. Some days I feel like I could eat all the time, and some other, I don,t care much for anything. But I'm not able to eat large amount anymore, only small portions but more often.

Leslie We crossed post...LOL When you won't be as hungry anymore??? How about after delivery (or maybe after you are done with nursing...;))
And as far as being dilated, you never know, I didn't really thought I would be 2 cm last time!!! Keep us posted girl!

I really have to get ready for my appointment now.
Have a great day ladies, I'll be back later for the developpements!

So, DH didn't go to BF class. :( There were 10 girls, and three dads. Mine was just too nervous about being the only one, and thought if he was, he'd hinder "the women" from talking about their breasts. :rolleyes: I was a little disappointed, but the lactation nurses will spend a lot of time with us in the hospital, so he'll pick up stuff then.

QOTD - I'm planning on working as close as possible. But, I am also planning on getting pulled one week early by my doctor! ;) (shh!) They don't encourage working that close to the end, so if he pulls me, I won't use up any vacation time!

Is anyone else tired? No, seriously. I mean, I know we're all tired, but I'm talking bleary eyed. I can't sleep at night anymore. All last week I woke up to pee (big surprise) and then was up for hours. This is happening every night. One extreme night I was up at 2:15am and never went to sleep until 10pm. Last night, I woke up twice! I took a nap on Saturday, but it's not enough. I still have 7 weeks to go. Any tips on how to stay asleep? I know I could stop my fluid intake after 6pm, but I'm very thirsty and it's in the 90s here. (Yes, Buffalo does get nice weather! :p )

Tina I agree with Leslie that you actually looked lower in the previous shot. :o

Julie I feel the exact way you do with sleep. I am sitting here with a MONSTER head-ache that I KNOW would go away with sleep...yet I laid in the bed from 4am-8am wide awake - not a chance of sleep. Pain in my ass!!!!!

Kim At this stage in the game, I think I would tell people to shove it if they were giving me a hard time about my birthing choice. At one time, I thought I would prefer a scheduled C. There is nothing wrong with that - as long as you are informed. And YOU ARE. ;) :D SO THERE. :p

My thoughts go to all those in FL right now - I hope yoiu are all doing OK!

QOTD - I am working right up to the end (unless the doc advises against and pulls me out). That was a great tip on having a bag of towels, pads and black pants under the desk - I am going to do that! I haven't made arrangements for someone to run me to the hospital from work, but I know it won't be an issue - they are all so great here.

I too have a tender spot in my lower belly - I had it develop last week after working out and the same thing happened this weekend - I think I may have strained a muscle. DH suggested I get one of those maternity belts for use when I am working out. Does anyone have those - any paticular ones that are good?

I am ready for this Peanut to come, but still have over 5 weeks to go.

Real quick post as I am work now...

Appt went well. Apparently I have a chunky monkey in my belly! Luke is measuring in the 91st percentile! :eek: Dr said 50% is normal. Yikes. He's measuring about a week to a week in a half ahead everywhere except his belly, which is measuring 2 weeks ahead! :eek: My baby has a big belly!!! lol Had an internal-nothin' going on.:rolleyes: Had the GBS done, too. I think I got the stick instead of the swab because it hurt.:( Anyway, we discussed the fact that I may end up having to have a c-section because of his size and I told her that I have an open mind about it and whatever happens happens. She said when she was on call on Saturday, she had this tiny, tiny patient who pushed out a 10lb baby like it was nothing and then she's seen women that couldn't push out a 6 pounder-ya just never know. She said that if I were to go into labor now, they won't try to stop it and that we'll just see what happens as far as his size goes, which is fine with me. I know Sal is meditating on 8/4, but I'm pretty sure we're looking at the 15th or so. 4 more weeks sounds so much better than 5 weeks. *sigh*

Good morning everybody! Exciting to see that some of our mommies have made it to term! I still have three weeks to go before that occurs, but only one more week before I am "out of the woods" (as the doctor put it) - meaning, if the baby comes early, complications wouldn't be as severe. I am now dilated to 2cm, so things are continuing to progress slowly.

I have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow (which is 2 weeks from the last time) and I'd imagine I'll be subjected to an internal exam, but they haven't been painful so far, so I can't complain.

My procrastinating has gone too far. If anybody has a hospital bag list handy, post it for me (pretty please?), and I promise, I will PACK MY BAG TODAY. :D

I'm here, but leaving... have to drop Tallie off at the sitters, so I can get some work done around here!! :D

Secret shower Ok - I'll confess...I opened my box :o I tried so hard to hold out, but it was calling to me, following me around, begging me to open it!! And, Melissa - you couldn't have done a better job!!! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the Pooh!! Could you read my mind, all the way down there in Florida, that I have been obsessing over Classic Pooh animals for the nursery?! It has seriously been my latest Ebay obsession, and Pooh was my last addition. So, THANK YOU!! I'll have nursery pictures to post a little later, so you can see how well he goes in the room!! ;)

Keri I had you, and there should have been a "gift card"/note from me. :confused: Anyway, hope you like the gift. I figured something off your registry was pretty safe.

Nothing new to report here. We've made it to 36 weeks - a milestone I seriously never thought we'd get to! I'm much more relaxed about this baby's arrival now then I was a week ago, and figure she's going to come when she's darn well ready. We have started to get the random, "Have you had the baby yet?" phone calls that make me absolutely batty. Especially from my FAMILY!! Fer crying out loud - do you seriously think we had the baby and then didn't bother to tell MY MOM? Will's MOM? MY BIL (who will be watching my daughter, incidentally, when we do have the baby) :rolleyes:

We got a few more things done over the weekend, so get to cross a few things off the list. And, as soon as I drop Tallie off, I'm going to get home to do a few more things. Maybe this week, I'll actually pack my bag?! Someone mentioned sleep, or complete lack thereof - yup!! I've definately reached the insomnia phase. I remember with Tallie I was up for hours nearly every night...it drove me nuts. And, it is again this time. I'm so tired during the day, but don't take naps because I want to be tired when I go to bed, but still can't sleep at night. Its a vicious cycle. Just keep reminding yourself that its your body's way of preparing for less sleep.

Anyway - back later for better shoutouts. Thinking about the Florida ladies...hope you all are staying safe and dry!!

Leslie -Thanks for the info about the pepcid...I'll have to check into that, my heartburn is awful, all. the. time. HOLY healthy babies Batman! 91st percentile?!?!

Val - You gotta get that camera working so we can see some pics!!

Julie - I get like that with sleep too! We don't usually go to bed until the am(DH on a night schedule for work) and right now I shouldn't be awake...but my thing is I get hungry. I get up and eat then I'm like :eek: for a few hours...I can't do the all day thing though, I have to take a nap or my body wants to shut down. :(

Keri - Yeah lots of us opened our Secret Shower gifts early:o Oopsie!

Carla - I'm sending you lots of healthy-baby-stay-put vibes.:)

Just a quick reply!! I have so much work to do today and i'm so behind.

Sonya So glad you loved Pooh. When I saw him I couldn't resist. I absolutely have a Classic Pooh obsession. I can't wait to see him in your nursery!!

Kim The one thing that we are all going to learn here in the next month is that no matter what we do someone/everyone will think we're doing it the wrong way. It starts with the delivery and only goes down hill from there. I give you credit for making an informed decision. I also give you a ton of credit for doing what's best for you and your family. Thats where it all begins and ends. I also wanted you to know that the OB that delivered Drew and now is the one scheduled to deliver Evan had TWO elective C's. No reason other than thats what she wanted.

U/S Update My appt was much like Leslie's , BTW, are we somehow cosmically related? My Dr. hasn't read the U/S yet, but the tech says he's big everywhere (belly is measuring over two weeks ahead), over the 90th percentile, and estimated at 7lbs 9-10ozs. Um....that's bigger then Drew was at birth, he was 7.7.

Not a big surprise but his head is not engaged yet. Hence the no cervical progress. I can't wait to hear what my Dr. says next week.

I'll be back later to check in and do proper shout-outs!

So here I am back form the doctor's office.
I honnestly wasn't sure that I had some "work" done over the last week, since the contractions I have are not really painful and to tell you frankly, I'm not sure yet what are contrations and what are other pains that are not contractions...(I haven't had yet periods of contractions like some of you did. Talking about that...anybody has heard of L-O-V-E???)
but...
I'm nearly 3 cm dilated :eek: and 75 % efface :eek: and +1 station.
My ionly question to my doc...when??? Oh, well, he said, no way you are going to have that kid in August, this is a july baby. He is giving me MAX 2 weeks, but he told me that he is thinkning that maybe I was going to have him before his vacay :eek: (my last appointment with him is next week, after that he is gone for 2 weeks...) SO this baby is comin'! :D

I have to go call DH who is anxiously awaiting news...be back later with replies and stuff!!!

Well our childbirth class was great this weekend. I feel like I have so many wonderful tips now. We also got our highchair and swing from FIL and MIL and bought the remainder of the necessities off our registry, which makes me really happy. I just need to get throught his last week of work and I'll feel totally ready for baby to come.

I'm just exhausted all the time, starving and very scatter-brained...it's so hard to focus on anythign non-baby related...

Thanks for all the info on recieving blankets ...I figured there was some great use for them since they are everywhere but I honestly didn't know. What kind of mother am I gonna be if I don't even know what recieveing blankets are for?? :confused:

Red~ So glad to hear you had a great shower...I am still so jealous of your eiffel tower bedding, but DH said it wasn't unisex enough for us. Oh well!

BTW...I learned at our childbirthclass this week that if you have a baby positioned like your girl then you should get on all 4's and it will help turn the baby into the ideal position which is her back to your front.

Stacey~ I heard this weekend that sex can definatley start labor...the hormones in semen soften your cervix, so be prepared!

Carla~ Your friend made such cute invites! Your shower is going to be a blast!

Alex~and all the other Florida ladies~ Hope you survived the hurricaine and that all is well with you, your families and loved ones. Best wishes!

Hiphop~ I was going to work until I went into labor but I'm planning on being a SAHM so cutting into maternity leave doesn't bother me. I'm also a control freak who hasn't had enough time to "prep the nest" so I need a few days to do that too.

Erika and Keri~ Glad you girls made it over :D

QP~ Congrats on the Durango! I love those. Can you believe its; any day now?? Have you had many strong symptoms like contrax??

Babylust~ Thanks for the well wishes.

Leslie~ Oh thank god I'm not the ony one with a horrendous appetite these days. I feel like I could eat constantly, just need to watch what gives me heartbnurn :mad:

I'd bet money you go early...it seems like you and I were a few of the first to get our BFP's! But don't worry about Luke being big...there are so many good things about big babies...they tend to be healthier, sleep better after birth etc...focus on that! ;)

Kim~ I'm so sorry you feel any negative feedback about a planned c-section...I say do what is best for you and baby. Birth scares me to death too. I KNOW deep down it's natural and normal but it just doesn't feel that way. Looks like we will likely have a planned C-section and I'm totally fine with it.

Val~ Congrats on reaching full term! So glad you had a good appointment and are progressing well. I agree, I can't imagine you going until August...July baby here he comes!

Julie~ I'm exhausted too...I just can't sleep and I get so uncomfortable. I hope you can manage to get some good rest before your delivery.

Lora~ So glad you had a good trip to ATL, and sorry you came home to a dead washing machine...that sucks! Ours overflowed once and it was the biggest pain in the ass!

Sonya~ Congrats on reaching 36 weeks...you're gonna go first I just know it!

Sarah~ I'm with you...I think we get a baby this week... :D

Have to agree with you, Sarah...I'm thinking there is an August baby or two on their way SOON! Val - it just might be you!!! Those numbers sound great (can I admit I'm jealous?!). :) I'm actually surprised we've made it this far into July without babies!

I'm procrastinating...I really really want the car to just be clean all by itself. Oy, the pitfalls of living in a small town. If there was someplace I could take it to have it cleaned for me, I'd so be there!! :rolleyes: But, I need to get something accomplished today.

Carla I do think its funny that neither of us has packed yet. I'm just not feeling the urgent need to do so. I guess since I was in the hospital for two days already, with out a bag, I figure we'll get through the actual birth without one, too.

Kim I have to echo support of your decision. As Melissa pointed out, people are going to have an opinion about every single thing you do with your baby. Why? I'm not sure, but they will pipe in about the type of diaper you use, how much you hold her, whether she sleeps with you, whether you give her enough tummy time, and on and on. The best way to get through all of that crap is to know that you are making decisions for your family that are the best for you and your baby. Screw everyone else! That includes your decisions for L & D. It sounds like you have made a very informed decision about a c-section, so as long as you and your doc are in agreement, how can you go wrong? We are all (including the repeat offenders in the group) going to be faced with a lot of decisions about our newborns in the next few weeks, and I hope everyone in this group continues to feel that their personal decision will be supported, even if we don't all do things the same way. :D

Which brings me to an old QOTD - Emotional attachement to delivery style I think this is one thing that has changed since my last pregnancy. With Tallie, I was pretty determined to have a natural, vaginal birth. I don't know that I would have been militant about it - I didn't need to be. I had about as easy a delivery as they come. We checked into the hospital, the doc broke my water, my labor progressed so fast I didn't have time for any meds, I didn't tear or need an episiostomy, and in the end, Tallie was born very easily. It ended up being what I wanted with little to no effort on my part.

This time, so many things have gone "wrong" - GD, bedrest, leaking, spotting - that I think I have resigned myself to the fact that this delivery isn't going to be the way Tallie's was. When this baby was breech for many weeks, I started convincing myself that we were going to end up with a c-section. Now that she has turned, I'm again hoping for a quick, natural vaginal birth, but I think I'm more realistic with myself that things may not go like they did before. At this point, I truly just want a healthy baby, and will be easily talked into anything that will get her here that way. That being said, I'm also a huge chicken and a bit of a cheapskate - both things may factor into non-life threatening interventions. Getting an epidural, for me, is about shelling out a lot more money (insurance won't cover elective epidurals) and dealing with a paralyzing fear of the big huge needle they'd need to stick in my back for that. Additionally, I'm terrified of being induced. I've read too much online about failed inductions, and know that induction can bring on harder labor then normal. My labor last time was pretty grueling, even though it was short, and the thought of even harder labor then that...well, I'm not very comfortable with that.

Ok...time to get something done. I could chat away on here all day, I think. :)

Hi Everyone! I'm still here, just reading along. There is no way that I can keep up with all you chatty cathys!

Things are fine here. I'm 37 weeks tomorrow, so it is cool to think of baby as full term. But I am becoming incredibly anxious and just want the baby out! I'm also incredibly jealous of Val and all her progress!! My doctor told me that they don't do internals until you are actually due, so I have no idea if there there is any action going on down there or not. I have had a lot of stabbing pains in my cervix - anyone else getting those or know what they are? It feels like the baby is head butting me. But no BH or contractions or anything...

So that's it from me. Just waiting... and learning that patience is definitely not one of my virtues! :rolleyes:

Stacy – regarding the painting and VOCs – as along as you use a non-oil based paint you should be ok. We used acrylic (I think) and opened the windows while painting. Just make sure that you have plenty of ventilation.

I also have a chair to prop my feet up on at work. That was great that the HR person got you some ergonomic stuff to make things easier for you.

Sex – I’m thinking I’m ready to have this girl out, so I might be initiating more sex.

Alex – I hope you fared well through the hurricane! They are terrible to go through. Being in Eastern NC, we’ve had our share too in the past.

Melissa – I registered for those BM supplies, but have only gotten one set of baggies. I need to get the storage bins. I think they’re a great idea. OMG! You’re a having a big baby too!

Janet – I’m also working up until delivery/labor starts.

Tina - Congrats on the new baby ride!! I drove one of those once as a rental vehicle. They’re very nice. :) I don’t think I see a drop, but I’m terrible about judging that.

Lora – glad you made your trip ok. Great new belly shots too! I think we also have the same pack n play too. “Craptastic” – I like that word. I might have to start using it too. :) Sorry about your washing machine. What a PITA thing to happen right now.

Leslie – Hungry – It comes and goes. Sometimes I eat so much and other times I can barely finish what I have on my plate. I think I’d be scared to death if they told me my baby was big. They shouldn’t let you get close to your due date if they already know he’s going to be that big.

Kim – are you still planning on doing the black feather boa picture? I think that would be awesome!

Julie – I haven’t had any problems sleeping, so sorry I can’t help.

Val – I know it must be such a relief to make it to 37 weeks. I’ll be right there with you on Thursday. 2 weeks max! how exciting that you could have your little one soon!

Keri – Glad you’re back with us on here! I posted a while back (don’t know if you read it or not), but I really appreciate the bobby pillow covers. They match so well with our nursery. :)

Sonya and Carla – I haven’t packed anything yet either. We still don’t even have our diaper bag yet!

_______

I had a lot to catch up on. I just realized that we now have the journal function up and running on here! I can't wait to start mine. :)

We had a last baby shower on Saturday and it was a very small turnout. This was hosted by my MIL and she sent out about 30 invitations. Only 4 people showed up. They were more disappointed than I was. I had mentioned in my LJ about Phillip's aunts that were going to the beach instead.

We still got lots of great stuff. We got the swing, more clothes, diapers, wipes, bath stuff, stuffed animals, and changing table pad. We've now got all the big stuff off our registries. I'm releieved about that.

I also discovered that being scared makes me feel like I'm having contractions. We were driving home Friday night late and a dog crossed the road in front of us. I had to slam on breaks to avoid hitting him. Afterwards, my belly was so tight from me tensing up. It took several minutes (it seemed) for my belly to relax again.

Then it happened again yesterday afternoon. I was trying to take a nap on the couch and Phillip snuck up behind me and startled me. Again the tightening of the belly started. I told him that he couldn't do that anymore.

Rachel has been moving around all day so far and my belly is so tight. I'm so ready for her to come out. I can feel her butt sticking up in on the top right side of my belly. She likes to do that a lot. And I feel a knee or elbow on my left side poking out. Ouch!!

Still so excited!!!
Thank girlsfor all your posts! I still don't believe I'll go first though, I think some of you are going to go before me...My guess is for Sonya but don't ask me why!
Before going to the appointment, I really thought baby would kid me, and make me wait for August even with the progress that I had made. But now with the doctor's answer to my question of "am I going to get to 40 weeks?" it is clear that I won't get there. I have never had such a clear and cut answer form a doc like that. No hesitation whatsoever! So now, Dh are making bets on the date. I'm thinking July 22nd, again, don't ask me why...DH says July 18th (it is my birthday...) hoping that he will save on a cake and a present :rolleyes: guys!

But I think that since the exam, I have been having small contrax though. I'm having this stabbing pain though my belly. I think I'll take it easy for the rest of the day...

Leslie Gald that you appointment went well, and that Luke is fine. As far as delivery, I don't know what to wish you except the best case scenario for both you and Luke.(wheter it is a c-section or not...)
I have to admit that I also look forward for some babies to arrive in here!!! Mine or anybody else!

Lora Sorry abou the washing machine! This sucks. I totally understand, we have to "invest" for a lawnmower...this too is a boring way of spending money!

Carla Yeah, I packed my bag this weekend, but I'm not done yet. I have just got out the stuff that I think I need. I guess I need to get my butt in gear and finish it today...
As for a list, I remember we had one, but I think it was in the WC thread...I'll try to find a link for ya.
I think I got your PM, but I haven,t check it yet...

Sonya I'm glad you got there. It is a peace of mind to finally reach those date where you know that if baby gets here, the complications won't really be important.
We have started to get the random, "Have you had the baby yet?" phone calls
Yeap, I have started that too. But from your mom??? That is nearly funny! LOL
I'm actually surprised we've made it this far into July without babies!
I would have to agree with that. I've made the same comment to myself a couple of days ago. And lately, I'm checking just in case someone starts the show...
I do hope everything will go right for you though...and easier labor that what you are expecting...

Kim Hope you are doing ok sweety! Rest while it is still time! ;)

Melissa Well, I guess I'll be the "mom having the small baby" this time. WOW, just like Leslie! I also hope that everything will be fine for you too! Have you had internals yet??? I honnestly never thought I would progress like that. My doc seemed pretty pleased!

Sarah I still don,t believe I'll go first...but now the question is is it really my feeling, or my brain in denial??? ;)

Jennifer Welcome to full term you too! :p What an exciting feeling!
Great that you make the last minute purchase this weekend. It really makes us feel better to be under the impression that we are prepared doesn't it?

Lori I was kinda wondering how you were doing.
I have had a lot of stabbing pains in my cervix
This is what I have been feeling too. I haven't had Bh or contrax (well, I do now, thnaks to the doc's internal exam...) but it is the first time I can say that I know these are contraction. And here I am sitting and typing, so they aren,t really that bad...be positive, maybe you also have an aweful loads of work done already! (I,m really starting to believe in wishful thinking!)

Michelle Yeah, it is a relief to get to that point! Now I feel totally ready for Baby to be here. I'm with you on the moving thing, he has no place anymore, so each little movement pokes me, how incomfortable!

Sleeping Getting harder for me, but it does depend on days. I just can,t wait to have baby out of me so that I can lean on my belly a bit!

I think i'm all done I hope I haven't forgot anybody
Oh I just say someone asking about paint. Even the oil based paint aren't dangerous. ( I aksed my doc beofre moving...) but it is important that the place is weel ventilated (both for latex or oil) not because it is dangerous, but because chances are you are going to have a splitting headache before you would normally do.

Ok, got to go to BRU there is a major sale going on. After that, rest and a book will do my day

I was reading one of my birth books last night while I was soaking in the tub :D and it was talking about cervical/pelvic pain just like this:

I have had a lot of stabbing pains in my cervix

It could be a sign that your cervix is dilating and/or effacing! I know I've had a ton of pressure and semi-painful sensations in my pelvis over the past couple of weeks, sometimes to the point where it takes my breath away. That, and my BH are starting to become so painful at times, that I'm not really sure anymore if they're BH or the real thing. They haven't fallen into a regular pattern though, so I'm leaning towards BH.

We had a great weekend. We found out that Extreme Makeover Home Edition is doing a house near here, so our area has Ty watch(posting online anywhere someone has seen him). :rolleyes: But we are going to look at what they are doing this week. Daniel is really interested in how they do it all.
My neighbor dug out her baby clothes for me. It is a big bag of clothes! I am so happy, it means that we won't have to buy too much. It is all really cute stuff. I was so excited to look through it all. I had to look at it all last night! Thankfully Daniel's friend who was over last night was okay with getting shown a whole bunch of clothes. I am finally getting excited now that we have more stuff for him.
My parents bought a motorcycle over the weekend, my mom seems really excited. It is something they used to do for fun before me.

I hope everyone is doing okay from Dennis.

Val Wow! This is exciting! I can't believe how close this is coming.

adore_one I have been painting. I haven't worried about it too much. I open the windows, but since it is so hot they would get openned any way.

Tina Yeah for the Durango. I originally wanted to get another four-door vehicle, but Daniel wants to keep the two door because he really likes it.

Cervical Pain The cervical pain can also be the baby's head bumping against it.

What IS it??
I've noticed this a few times before and now it's starting up again and it's bugging me out. Does anyone else get a palpating fluttering sensation right under their sternum? I've pressed in on it and felt it just pulsing, almost as if the baby were that high! :eek: He can't be though, and whatever IS up there would have to be little and be something along the lines of toes tickling at me. What else could it be though?

I've had a couple of weekly appointments but no action what-so-ever. Also found out that my Group B Strep culture was positive :( Well, at least we know, so I'll go to the hospital for antibiotics as soon as labor begins to ensure ample time.

I'm packing our hospital bag tonight.

Okay, I'm starting to think I need a bigger hospital bag. lol Jeez, the nurses are probably going to think we're moving in. lol Thanks for posting that list Tina!

Erika, sorry about the +GBS. Just one more thing to worry about, ya know?

Sarah, no idea, but the idea of little toes in there is so cute!!!

kat, too funny about the Ty watch! I love that show-guaranteed tear jerker!

Lora, I don't think it's ever too early. Jeez, even *I* am thinking of hitting Sal up for some tonight and you guys know I have had no interest for a long time now! Desperate times call for desperate measures! lol

Melissa, I swear our babies are one and the same. How weird is that??? I mean, even down to the bellies measuring 2 weeks ahead! Bizarro!!!

Awesome news about your friend and her baby! Big congrats to her!:)

Jennifer, I'm glad your childbirth class went well. Now I'm really looking forward to lamaze tonight!

Shell (your new user name makes it easier to distinguish between the 2 Michelles! lol), that makes total sense to me about stress bringing on the contractions. I'll have to pay attention to that. Good deal on the shower gifts!!!

Lori, I wonder why your dr doesn't do internals until your due date? That's got to make the waiting even worse. I feel like we're all on cervix watch here. lol Who knew I would ever look forward to an internal?:rolleyes:

Sonya, let me know how you do with cleaning your car. I just picked up crap in it one day and that totally wiped me out. I can't imagine actually *cleaning* it! We're actually dropping my car off on Thursday to get power cleaned so we can install the car seat base.
I'm glad you're feeling more at ease about everything-I knew your baby was going to surprise you and stick around for a while!

Lora, sorry about the washing machine. That totally sucks. When it rains, it pours, ya know?

Phew! I think I got everyone. Sorry if I missed ya!

I forgot to post that I talked to my dr about the hunger issue and she didn't seem surprised or have an answer. ugh. She said to just eat more proteins. okey dokey.

My next appt is 7/19.

Hey Ladies. I'm at work (last week!) but I am so tired I can barely keep my eyes open. Couldn't sleep much last night, even on the couch. :( DH and I went to the movies yesterday, and I thought the girl was going to jump out of me! We saw BATMAN BEGINS, and she wouldn't stop moving. After, we went to Crate and Barrel and bought the last of our dishes from the wedding (!), and then to Target to buy various things. Our little place is starting to look like a real home. I think I mentioned that DH went shopping for furniture while I was at my shower(?). He bought a big dresser and a nightstand. Now, we can actually fold and store ALL of our clothes! Next Saturday, we plan to go to BRU and pick up the last of our necessary registry items.

Melissa and Jennifer Yep. We ordered the Land of Nod Eiffel Tower bedding last night, and it should be here in a week. So excited to have the crip ready, even is she's not sleeping in it for a bit.

Tina Water gives me heartburn too! I hate that - I mean, come on, it's water. :mad:

Julie I am so sleep deprived, it's not funny. I try to sleep, and I might get two hours, then I get up to go to the bathroom - and am awake for about 3 hours. I might get back to sleep around 6am, but have to get up at 7:30. I'm now getting up to pee every 2 hours like clockwork. I hate it.

BTW, baby girl seems to be in position now. But I did spend a good amount of time on all fours when I wasn't sure. :) DH LOVED watching that.

Leslie – I grew up with the nicknames Shell, Shell-shell, Shellbell, etc. Mostly just close friends call me that from time to time now, so it’s nice having you all as good friends too.

staying with the August mommies thread – I was thinking about this too the other day. I haven’t gone into the July thread to know them very well. I’m at home here and would like to stay with everyone else if we deliver early.

I forgot to mention that Phillip's grandmother was telling me about the old wives tell on how she thinks I'll deliver within 10 days after the full moon. The full moon is on July 21st and ten days after that would be July 31st! My due date is Aug 4th. We'll see!

Melissa – Such good news for your friend! Yippeee!!

Val & Carla – You’re posts both brought a big smile to my face! Maybe it means I’m making some progress too. :)

oh, and Val, funny you say the 22nd – that is my current guess for when my man is coming. My husband finishes school on the 21st, and there is also a full moon that night... we’ll see!

Lora – I’ll admit I started taking some Evening Primrose Oil last week to get things started. I read that it can help soften up your cervix. I used to take it before I was pregnant because I have eczema and it is a natural remedy for that, but was told to stop when I got pregnant because of the effects it can have on your uterus.

Kat – That’s what I was afraid of. But since my doctor won’t do an internal, I’m going to try to think positive and imagine that it’s some progress going on down there! :)

Leslie – The doctor said that they don’t do them because they aren’t so comfortable, and things can change quickly. Stinks though! I have one more ultrasound next Tuesday, so maybe they’ll be able to tell me if my cervix is shortening up – they usually measure it at the start of the appt...

Staying with the August Mommas? – Absolutely!

Hey everyone,

Just a quick post from me. I have not been feeling all that well since yesterday morning. I have been feeling like I am going to throw up, light headed, sweaty as all heck, no appetite, pains on my lower abs, lower back pain and just a feeling of being done. I have my first internal exam tomorrow, so please pray for me that something is happening down there. I can't even tell if baby is breech or in positon at this point, I am just flat out uncomfortable. Oh and the weather is going to be over 100 today. :eek:
Anyways, I think I am just having the end of pregnancy symptoms, but honestly I don't think anything is happening with me. I am trying to rest today but since my toddler has a different agenda, it hasn't been too much fun.

I will try to do SO later on. Val congrats on the progress and Tina way to bake those boys.

No matter what, I am staying with the August mamma's even if by chance I have this baby early!

I am wondering if I dropped a little over the weekend. I can breath again(deep breaths) for the most part, but I feel like there is a head about to fall out and I feel uncomfortable if I lean forward(sitting down) kind of like my belly is in the way of my legs.

Tracy, sounds like end of pregnancy symptoms to me, too. Hmmm...who will be first? You or Val??? If it's not the start of labor, I sure hope you feel better soon!

Stacy, that looks awesome!!! I love the color combo!

I'm just home for a few before lamaze class. I stopped for McDonald's on the way home. NAUGHTY, NAUGHTY. So damn good, though! I wish I could just go lay down on the couch and watch TV. I am DYING to take my bra off. I don't think anyone at lamaze would appreciate that much, though. lol

Wow I sound like a big ole' baby, sorry. I just hope it is pregnancy related and not what my son had last week. Of course I wouldn't mind being one of the first to go, :D but i'm sure this little guy won't come until close to his due date if not after. I will hop back in tomorrow and update you after my appt.

Love the belly pics and the nursery ones too!

Greetings and salutations all!

I have been seriously MIA lately, what with work and Lyric projects and STUPID WC CHANGEOVER and and and....but now I know where we all are, and I'll be sure to start chiming in and keeping up. Although catching up may not happen at all - I'm out of commission for a couple of weeks, and there's already 70 pages of journal?!? I am overwhelmed.

Not a whole lot of time right now, but I'll put together an update soon.

Anyhoo, good to see we're all staying in touch!

PS - Last little thing...it's looking like Mochito will be making her debut more like 7/30 (hubby's b-day, lol), possibly earlier (pleasepleaseplease)....but if it's cool I'll stick with the August gals.

Just a fly-by before I go take a nap.

Ultrasound today went GREAT. Both boys were deamed "perfect". Then the tech asked me what exactly am I feeding these guys?!?

I have 12lbs 4oz of pure BABY in me! :eek:
Baby A is 6lbs 12oz
Baby B is 5lbs 8oz

We had aniticipated them to be 5 1/2lbs at BIRTH, based on their growth patterns and gestational weight chart. We were laughing the other day that they could be pushing 6lbs if I went to 38 weeks. Holy crap, I can't believe how BIG they are already!!!

And for sure Im staying an August Momma, no matter when they come.

Holy Moly are we chatty!!!

Staci I love those stripes they look like they were a lot of work, geez girl I got tired just painting trim and floor boards!!!

Val way to go on that progress (yes I am so jealous)

Tina That is great news your boys are so healthy. I believe when my twin sisters were born one was about 5 lbs and the other around 6lbs!! You are such a tropper. I am sure my little guy is only about 5lbs and I am so uncomfortable I can't even imagine how you feel.

I don't really have a guess for when this little guy is going to come my hope is that he comes in the first week of August!! but that's just wishful thinking. I haven't had any internals, and I don't know if my dr does them I guess I will find out more on Wed when I go in for my appt!

gotta run I have my first BF class tonight :p

Tina Talk about a great cooker!!! That's a whole lotta baby you've got in there - nice work, Mama!!! :D So glad to hear the boys are looking good. They definately sound nice and comfy in there!

BTW - you asked a while back if the doc ever put me on terb - nope. I haven't actually seen him in almost two weeks, which is weird these days. He and I were getting to be good friends, with all our visits! ;) I'm very curious to hear if all these contractions are doing any good, or if they are just a giant discomfort.

Tracy I'm sorry you are so uncomfortable. Even when there is a good reason for it, its frustrating to be feeling so crummy. I hope it is just pregnancy related, though, and not the flu or something yucky!

Staci Those stripes are gorgeous!!! I'm so impressed you have the stamina to crank them out!

Leslie Car cleaning was a success, I'm happy to say. Of course, it would have been nice for DH to realize how difficult it is to manuever the vaccuum around the belly, but eh - at least its done now. We drove around with my sister's pug and our pug last weekend, and the car was such a disaster!! It felt so much better just driving around in it with it clean. I don't know if we'll bother installing the car seat until the baby actually gets here, as we tend to play musical cars a lot, but at least I won't gross out when we put her in the car!

Hmmm - I know there are more, but I'm exhausted and heading in to snuggle a bit with Tallie.

August mama Yup - I'll be staying. Who else will put up with my neurocies as well as ya'll?! ;) I also noticed that there is a journal option on here, but I think I'm going to keep journaling over on LJ. I have a hard enough time keeping up with this and that one. I'm definately happy to friend anyone from this group, so if you want access, just let me know. (Someday, I'll actually change my siggie and include my journal link...)

Birth day guess Well, I'm going to jinx myself and say July 14. Tallie's b-day is Jan. 14, and I think it would be nice to have both girls with b-days on the same date. We also have a lot of b-days in July that I'd like to miss, including the 22nd (my neice), the 24th (my sister), the 27th (my friend), the 17th (my brother's anniversary), and the ones we've already missed - the 6th (my sister's anniversary) and the 8th (my friend's daughter's b-day). I'm partial to the idea of my kids having their own days, so would really like to miss any of the above dates. However, as I type this, I am realizing that my grandma's b-day is the 14th...so much for that theory!! :rolleyes:

Well, I think this child is dropping - I feel like my pelvis is being split with a vice grip!! So, I'm going to go kick up my feet for a while.

Wow that is a lot of babies!!!

I am so happy to hear that so far nobody plans on leaving!! I would miss everybody.

I started a journal today! It is my first time online journaling. I hope I can keep up with it, I will probably not have any pictures here since I haven't bothered to figure it out. I had been thinking about doing an LJ, but I still don't know. Although I may have to just so I can see babies.

KIM

I did it!! I broke down and opened my Secret Shower Gift and I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the Snodel!! I almost died when I saw that it has Evan's name on it. He is going to love it, I just know he will. I think the concept behind them is great, I plan to pack it in our hospital bag so that he can get used to having it with him.

Thanks so much for being so very sweet. I really appreciate you going the extra mile to get him something he'll be sure to love.

Melissa or Kim-

Help me out here, is there another name for a snodel? What the heck is that.

For all of you 2nd time moms, are you fearing you will go into labor when you have your little one with you? Matt and I have talked about it but he is stressing. Scotty is with me almost 24/7. If I go into labor during the day, everyone will be at work and we will have to take him with us. They would pick him up as soon as they can leave work and get there, but he will see me in pain. So my ideal time to go into labor would be in the middle of the night or at least after he goes to bed. That way someone can come over and stay here with him, Matt and I can go to the hosp, and then Matt can come home by morning and nothing will really be different for Scotty. Wouldn't that be nice if we could choose when we will go into labor!! :)

I am also one of those that haven't packed my hospital bag. :rolleyes: I should but I haven't. I know what I will need if I end up in the hosp without it so Matt can grab the stuff and bring it up. I think I will jinx myself if I am ready. Although the baby's bag is packed and ready. :D

Tina, way to go, mama!!! They are going to be so perfect and healthy when they decide to come out.:D

Lamaze class was good. I really like the teacher. We practiced 3 breathing techniques. Am I going to remember this stuff when the time comes? DOUBTFUL. lol She talked a lot about our hospital's doula program which I had opted not to look into, but now I'm thinking better of it. It might be a good idea for me since I have no idea how Sal is going to handle this whole thing. Gonna think on it a bit. It will only cost us $100-not too bad. Next week we may get to tour the hospital if they're not booked up with patients. Yay!

I finally gave in and opened my shower present, too! Lora, you're such a sneak. I never guessed for one second that you were my secret shower pal. lol Thank you so much for the car mirror and swaddleme! I can't wait to put the mirror in the car!:D

Everyone must be going to bed or eating dinner...it was the furthest down the page I've found the August mommas all day!! :)

I gave in and started to pack my bag. Just had to let ya'll know! :p Now I'm sure to have secured my place as an August mama - no way she'll come early now!!
