CONGRATULATIONS KADEE!!!!

Wow - this week is going to be a huge baby week! Good luck Kyrsten and Mimieliza!! Can't wait to hear more baby news!

Nothing exciting here. We had a quiet weekend - got together with some friends Saturday and went to a pumpkin carving party yesterday. Was nice to get out of the house and have some distractions from wondering when this little girl will decide to come out.

I am actually hoping against hope that she doesn't decide to make her appearance until Thursday at the earliest. Purely selfish reasons...:rolleyes: DH doesn't want a Halloween baby. And we are Catholic, so 11/1 is always a holy day of obligation - don't want our daughter to have a birthday the same day we have to go to church every year. So, the earliest I am allowing her to be born this week is Thursday. Told you they were totally selfish reasons! :o

Induction policy Funny, I haven't even talked about this yet with my doc! I figured I've had no reason to worry about it yet, but I do plan to bring it up at my appt on Wed since my EDD is on Saturday.

Strangers asking name YES. All the freaking time! We really aren't telling people the name and I just feel awkward explaining that to these strangers. I shouldn't feel that way, but I do!

Sorry don't have time for SO's....gotta get the dogs out for a walk....

Thanks for all the compliments on the nursery!

induction- my practice told me that they will induce one week past your EDD. As far as I know they will only do it sooner if there is a medical reason for it.

strangers asking the name- I have had a lot of strangers ask me if we had picked a name. I always found it odd too. Usually I would just tell them so, they would leave me alone about it. We aren't keeping the name a secret anymore. My Stepmom told one of her friends the name we picked and the friend then had it embroided on a shower gift for me. So, I was forced to tell everyone at the shower the name. Since then I have just given up on keeping it a secret.

induction policy~ I have no idea what the standard is at my doc's practice. I was going to ask her at my last appt, but then got seen by someone else b/c she was out of town and had a GBS done and plum forgot about my question. My next appt isn't till next Friday and I don't feel like calling and bugging them about it...I'll just find out then.

lizzie beth – there are probably some great experiences with LLL and you seem to want the help, so perhaps contacting them is perfect for you. I tend to be a bit negative about them, I think. As long as you know what you may have to deal with, that may be all the “defense” you need to get what you need from them but also stand your ground. Franni made some great points.

rubbersoul – great nursery! :)

citygirl – thank god you are alright!!! I hope the guy that hit you has insurance!

katnbug

citygirl- Sorry to hear about your accident. Very scary! I hope the guy who hit you really has insurance. That's strange that the police don't get involved unless there's an injury! What if there was a question of who's at fault? (not that it's the case for you)

c-section & anesthesiologist- I didn't discuss the spinal/epidural with anyone until I met the anesthesiologist at the hospital right before our c-section. I imagine your dr. could give you some information if you ask her/him. I had an idea of how the epidural worked and the whole process before my first pregnancy, but since I had an emergency c-section that time it all happened very quickly.

lilla- Ahhh... All Saints Day! A fellow Catholic - though a bad one here who doesn't always go on holy days of obligation! When I first got my BFP I calculated our due date as 11/1. I thought that would be a fine day for a baby!! Though I see your point about always attending church on your DC's birthday.

NOW... who's going to have the HALLOWEEN BABY? It's not a bad day to have a child! It's DH's birthday & he always has a party to attend whether it's in his honor or just for Halloween!

just a quick update...

Carolina Chloe Layne was born via c-section at 1:33 pm, October 30, 2006. Yes, we changed her name! She is 9 lbs, 5 oz and 21 inches long. Her head measures 31 cm and would never have fit in my pelvis, which is why she had not dropped. I was so happy to find out that we made the right decision when we decided to go ahead with the c-section.

I will post more, and pics, as son as I can. For now I can only say that I am more in love than I ever fathomed possible.

Congratulations Kyrsten and a big welcome to Carolina! :D

Quick update - had my 36 week appointment yesterday and my doctor did another internal (BTW, they are not bad and have not caused me cramping or spotting or anything - with my first son, one doctor told me he was going to do a "vigorous internal" and that one hurt during and after), and I'm still in the 2 cm dilated range, which is ok by me. Since I'll be full term for my next appointment on Monday, 11/6, we'll probably go ahead and schedule an iduction for the following week. I think I mentioned it before but we're leaning toward induction because of size issues - ds #1 was born at 40 weeks weighing 8 1/2 pounds, his big old head got stuck behind my pubic bone so he needed vacuum assistance, I needed an episiotomy and in the process, ended up hurting my tailbone. All this could still happen with an induction but by not letting ds #2 fatten up to 40 weeks, we may have a bit easier time. Plus, we have zero friends or family here since we're still kind of new to the area (losers!) :p so having a date would mean my s-i-l could come up to help watch ds #1. Of course Mother Nature could change those plans at any time so we're flexible!

Wishing everyone a happy and safe Halloween! DS #1 is dressing up as Superman for trick or treating this evening and is very excited about it. :)

Congratulations, Krysten!!! Carolina is a beautiful name. I'm glad everything worked out with your c/s and that you're in love with your new baby girl :)

CityGirl - I'm sorry about the scary accident! I'm glad you and your DH are okay, and I hope everything gets sorted out with the dude's insurance.

---------------

Had an OB appt. this morning, and had an internal. It wasn't too bad, no cramping or spotting yet. She said I'm 80% thinned out, and 1.5 cm dilated. Which is exciting for me to hear, but I know it doesn't necesarily indicate when I'll deliver.

Since everyone's been talking about inductions, I asked about her policy. She said they never induce before 39 weeks without a medical reason. But since it's my first she wouldn't likely induce before 41 weeks. 41 weeks! That sucks! So I'm really hoping my little girl decides to arrive anywhere between 38 weeks and my due date on 11/25, and that would be fine with me :)

Congratulations Krysten! I'm glad everything went well and love the 'new' name Carolina.

kadee: Matthew is adorable! Thanks for the teaser pic. :)

katnbug: I agree about having a Halloween baby. I actually would've loved having a Haloween baby just for the party aspect. :p You never have to worry about a theme! ;)

internals: It's nice to hear that a lot of you aren't experiencing any spotting or cramping. I still will probably wait to have an internal until the week of my due date just so I don't get fixated on the progress or lack of progress. I'm impatient enough at this point!

Who's Next?: Ellidew is being induced tonight, right? Is anyone else scheduled for induction or c-section this week?

Happy Halloween everyone! Here is our dog as Count Dracula. :D

I don’t think it would be so bad! Unfortunately it’s not for me as I don’t care to have my son arrive a month early (a couple weeks is ok, but not a whole month)…I dig Halloween!:D

Kyrsten~ Congratulations!! Welcome, Carolina!! I love the new name, it sounds beautiful!! She definitely is a big girl! I’m very happy to hear that things went well and you guys made the right decision and now you get to enjoy the heck out of your new addition!

Acrane~ I’m looking forward to hearing how your next appt goes, I’ll be full-term next week as well but not until Thurs.

Mayham~ Glad to hear your appt went well…it sounds like things are progressing pretty well for you! I hope your little girl isn’t late in making her appearance!

Kadee~ He’s adorable!!!:)

Who's Next? Not me! :eek:

I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween!!

Congratulatons, Krysten. What a beautiful new name.

Congratulations, Kadee. Matthew is absolutely adorable.

elliedw Hope things go well tomorrow. That reminds me...I need to get a pedicure soon.

citygirl That was scary. I would be so LIVID. Thank God, you and the baby (and your fur babies) are alright. We always have the police come out and file a police report. Becuase you never know what version the other party will be feeding to their insurance company.

No news here I haven't had an internal despite being 37 & 2 days. Oh well....did I mention that my doctor doesn't seem to care.

spreading baby dust all over everybody today!!!!

Happy halloween

I was wondering the same thing, esp with the symptoms she's been having.

As much as I would have loved a Halloween baby, it won't be me.

This is not a reply. Hi, I'm Reid, Michelle's husband, and daddy to Miranda, who arrived yesterday at around 5 pm. She gave us a little scare, and we had a quick emergency c-section. Both mommy and baby are fine, baby being 7 lbs 1 oz and 19 inches long. She is about as perfect as perfect can be, and she and Michelle are resting right now.
http://mimieliza.smugmug.com/photos/106916956-S.jpg
Happy Halloween, and hope everyone's doing well. As you can see from the look on her face, Miranda does not believe that the 83-win Cardinals have won the World Series. We have not yet decided after which of the St. Louis Cardinals she will be named. I'm pushing for La Russa or Albert, but Michelle does not agree.

GOOD LUCK!

Reid, Michelle, and Miranda Kimie

I have a good way to start contrax.... walk around trick-or-treating! We just got back and let me tell you, I have some major contrax going coupled with super sharp cervical stabs. I'm sure it's nothing though b/c I've had these off an on for weeks.

Total baby envy here too!

Yep, I'm still around--I've tried to be pretty low key today as to not start labor--since it's after 5 pm now, I figure I'm going to be a November mama!

Congrats to all the new babies--I love the picts, they are truly beautiful!

Is this for real?-There are some points during the day when I think, "Whoa, I could have a baby any day!" then there are other points where I think, "This baby is never coming!" Sometimes it all just doesn't seem real and I'm overwhelmed at what I'll feel when I finally get to meet Corbin. Don't get me wrong, I CANNOT wait to meet him, but I can't even totally wrap my head around what it will be like. Just hoping I'm not the only one.

Next appt is Thursday, hoping for some progress.

Congrats Michelle and Reid!!

I'm pushing for La Russa or Albert

Eh, go with Albert! That's what i was pushing for ;) lol. (only kidding, but i did jokingly suggest it when i worked my way through the Cards roster one night many months ago before we had a name picked out. Miles incidentally did not come from Aaron Miles ;))

I figure I'm going to be a November mama!

Me too, i was totally workin' the balance ball about 2 hours ago thinking... okay, it's after 3:00. If i started labor on my own now i'd probably be in the clear for November! lol.

Franni

catgirl I had a similar experience today with contractions. I have been having random tightening sensations for weeks now. It felt really random, but today felt different.

question I have been having b*tt and "down there" aches for weeks now, especially when I just get up from seating position. Today I had some contractions (3 - 1 every hour until about 6 when it stopped). They were mild and not painful but it was unmistakable. After the contrax, my "down-there" aches disappeared. So I thought this might be the start of something. Last time the contrax kept intensifying and never really let up when it started getting consistent.

Toonces
10-31-2006, 06:31 PM
Franni ~ My guess would be the contrax made your baby move and that's why you're not feeling the same aches/pains. I swear Devin tried to stick his head back down into my cervix. It felt like someone was sticking me with an ice pick. Where are your contrax? Up higher on your stomach, or below your belly button? I've read that the below your belly button ones are more productive.

Congratulations to Kyrsten & mimieliza!!! Welcome Carolina & Miranda!!!

I love the name Carolina, Kyrsten - what made you change your mind? I love Annabella, too, but it's much more commonly used - this way Carolina gets to be the only Carolina around! Good for her!

And mimieliza - Miranda is breathtaking. Her complexion looks amazing for a newbie... I wish I had beautiful skin like that!

Scheduling inductions- I have no idea what the policy is on that. My guess would be that my Dr., who delivered my first, will probably want to schedule one pretty quick if I don't go around 10 days or so before my due date. My first daughter was such a tight fit, she was practically squeaky-clean when she came out, episiotomy and all. She was saying last week she hoped to see some progress by tomorrow - I am full-term today...

Thanks, Franni, for your LLL advice. I have pretty much decided to go to the meeting and check it out, reservations and all. I really do want more help this time, and I love the idea of LLL, but am trying to keep from being too disappointed if they end up being too demanding to be helpful. The first LC I talked to was their leader, and I didn't get a good first impression of her, but who knows. We'll see next Thursday at the meeting.

Citygirl - YIKES! Glad to hear everything essentially turned out okay, but your heart must have absolutely stopped for a while there. (As I'm sure the other driver's should have when you got out of the car...You DID let him see the belly, right?? Shame on him.) We got rear-ended a couple of weeks ago, but nothing like what you described. And we didn't even see it coming because we had been stopped for a good 2 minutes at a red light. So I didn't even have time to be scared. I swear, when he hit us I thought something nearby had exploded or something. It took me a good 5 seconds or so to figure out we had been hit from behind by another car. And after we pulled over, I did get out and let him see what he had just risked by hitting the gas while looking at his BlackBerry. :rolleyes:

Halloween was fabulous!! We had such a good time. Susannah was a butterfly. In the morning she went to her Grandma's workplace and had a marvelous time collecting candy and handing the little packages to Grandpa to open for her. Then it was a super-quick nap and we went to daycare for the Halloween parade, then we hung out around our neighborhood for the trick or treating. She went down early...that kid was tired...and so am I. :p It was the best Halloween I've ever had, just like last Christmas was the best Christmas I can remember. I was so excited for Susie last Christmas, I could barely sleep the night before...

Hope everybody is feeling good....

Franni
10-31-2006, 09:01 PM
catgirl my contrax were much lower (right above the pubic bone) today than they were in the last few weeks. My BH ones are usually around my belly. Today's specials were also accompanied by backaches. That's what got me a little excited. Oh well....I guess I would just have to wait.

lizziebeth I am with you on the thought of going for help sooner than later. I had a difficult beginning with breastfeeding and would have saved myself a lot of heartache if I had just had the help earlier. Keep an open mind, but as soon as you begin to feel uncomfortable, get yourself outta there. I think you'll find that there are a lot of helpful people on the BF thread here in CC.

Lizzie Beth ~ I'm glad you had such a nice Halloween! It's one of my favorite holidays, too. I like how it kind of kicks off the whole holiday season. :)

Franni ~ What's the deal? It sounds like you & I are having the same contraction issues and are both sitting here with no babies. You'd think as ROs our bodies would know what to do. I guess I'm not in that big of a hurry, but like you I get excited everytime I go through this.

Congratualtions katnbug, Lydia, kadee, nic, Krysten and mimizila! Welcome to the world Hilary, Mason, Matthew, Christian, Miranda and Carolina!

Still here reading along, just not getting the chance to post much. Wes is now 3 weeks old (holy moly, how times flies!) and doing great. He has really improved with breastfeeding, although we still have to pump and add extra calories to the breastmilk to help him continue to gain weight. He does not really cry, just grunts and fusses. He makes the most adorable faces and looks more like DH every day. Recovery from the c-section was a bit easier than I expected, especially after the first 10 days or so. I am adjusting to the night shift- who thought I could feel like I had a full night of sleep after being up for 2-3 hours during the night. DH does the 9-10pm and the 5-6 am feedings so I can sleep. DH has been a wonderful partner and support. It is amazing to watch him be a dad.

I am so excited for everyone and can't wait to see more baby announcements! Best wishes to everyone for easy, quick deliveries and healthy, happy babies and mommies!

Nope, you're not the only one. It still feels surreal that I'll be having my baby boy in a few short weeks and become someone's mom. I can't wrap my head around actually being in labor, giving birth and all the feelings that go along meeting my son for the first time. I'm really excited about everything but also nervous.

It's November?! When did that happen. Wasn't it just a week or two ago that we formed this little group. It still amazes me how quickly this pregnancy has gone by. I really did expect it to feel like the months and days just dragged by. Instead I feel like I have been in a whirlwind of preparation, but still don't feel prepared.

I am really tired of being pregnant though. I was waiting for this to happen and it hit me a few days ago. Moving around has become a huge production and sleeping is a joke. I am excited to meet our little boy and freaked out at the same time.

ellidew- I hope everything goes smoothly for you tonight! Can't wait to hear about your experience and see the little one!

Rancid - I'm right there with you... totally ready now that I'm seeing all of these babies, but not ready enough to have the baby almost a month early! If I had my choice I wouldn't mind going at 39 weeks :)

Same here! Actually, I wouldn’t even mind going at 38 weeks. I have started measuring 2 weeks ahead as of my most recent appt (I was right on every time for the first 34w) so who knows? Baby will come out when he’s good and ready. I was reading this Lamaze magazine I got at one of our baby-related classes and thought it was neat that when the baby’s lungs are fully developed, he/she sends out a protein that signals to the mother’s body that it’s go time. I always wondered if labor came on b/c the mother’s body was ready for baby to come out, or if it was b/c baby him/herself was ready to come out.:)

Franni~ I’ve been having some butt and “down-there” aches too, at all times of day. Sometimes morning, sometimes night, regardless of whether I’m sitting, lying down or standing/walking. I liken it to the feeling you get after horseback riding as it seems to be occurring in all the ‘contact’ areas that would normally come into contact with the saddle. It comes and goes but I haven’t felt any contractions around or during the same times as the aches/soreness/pains in those regions.

Roberta~ I’m so happy to hear that things are going so well with you and Wes! Wow I can’t believe it’s been 3 weeks already, my how time flies!! It sounds like both you and DH are really adjusting well to having the little guy around and doing a great job splitting feedings.:D

Ellidew~ Oh wow, you’re going into the hospital tonight, how exciting (yet scary!)…but sometime tomorrow (if all goes well) you’ll have a bouncing baby boy to love and hold.;)

I totally could’ve written that. I cannot believe how fast time has flown, it seems like just a couple weeks ago we were all introducing ourselves and getting our first u/s’s and so forth. I’m a bit tired of being pregnant too, I’m in that stage where I just can’t seem to get comfortable and if I do, it doesn’t last long. I’ve been having the toughest time getting to sleep and staying asleep that I feel like a zombie every day at work, particularly in the mornings.:rolleyes: Last Friday I came home from work and showered and put my pjs on, then fell asleep on the bed and didn’t wake up until after 10pm! That’s how tired I was, that I took a 5-hour nap before even eating dinner. And on weekends I’m lucky if I can drag myself out of bed before 11am, I could sleep all day if I didn’t have things I needed to do.

I had one of my NST appts yesterday and all looks well. My bp was 123/52 (take that, ob!! She still thinks I have high bp!!) and the baby's hb/movements looked good, no protein in my urine, uterine activity looks good, and the amniotic fluid levels look good. We even got to peek at the baby's head on the u/s, but not much else b/c he was moving around in there like a maniac. During the first part of the test, he was moving around so much coupled with a bout of the hiccups that the graph kept showing only portions of lines for a good 15-20 minutes.

We have our final prepared childbirth class tonight, it's "graduation night" and I baked a batch of chocolate chip and batch of sugar cookies to take to class to celebrate (I've already eaten several of each)...I have a prenatal massage scheduled for tomorrow right after work, which I cannot wait for!! Friday is my other NST appt for the week, then next week is my last bi-weekly ob appt and from there on I'll be going weekly. I'll be full-term next Thursday. I cannot believe how fast time has flown and that it's November already!!:eek:

Franni - We don't have a name either. Just a short list of options. We've decided to wait until the babe arrives to make a decision.

ellidew - Good luck!

lizzie beth - I didn't get out of the car, but the driver came over to apologize and he got a good look. Sorry to hear about your accident. It is pretty scary at the time. And now every time I drive I think everyone is trying to hit me.

catgirl - I was just reading in the other thread about prodromal labor. I've been having it for about 4 days. My contractions went from frequent painless BH that stopped when I would lay down to these more intense contractions that wrap around my back. When I was being monitored after the version last week the contractions were off the charts. Last night was the first night they kept up all night long. I still managed to sleep though. I thought it was interesting someone else mentioned that propromal labor is more common in babes of poor position. Since our babe is breech that makes sense. Just wanted to let you know there is someone else out there feeling your pain :rolleyes:

nic- What a doll! He's beautiful! :)

roberta- Sounds like you're doing great! Wes is a grunter?? So is Hilary! And a big squeaker too..DH actually calls her Squeaky. But she has a nice loud cry if you don't get to her to feed her immediately! Can I borrow your DH for a while? Mine decided that all feedings are my responsibility... :(

CONGRATULATIONS FOR MAKING IT TO NOVEMBER EVERYONE!!! LET THE BABY FEST BEGIN!

I swear that Connor is moving up into my ribcage instead of down into my pelvis. Perhaps he is moving around, getting into position. I woke up last night and the top of my stomach felt rock hard and the bottom of my stomach was soft. The kid is going the wrong way! ;)

There is candy everywhere at my workplace!! Everywhere!!!!

nic – what a cute little man!! I love his fuzzy head of hair :D

sinclair – you are totally not alone. I am excited at times, but at other times, I have a wave of panic or I am just indifferent. I am excited but I get indifferent because I have NO IDEA how to relate to this. No concept whatsoever. So, I am with you.

ellidew – your November enthusiasm is adorable :)

roberta – thanks for the update. 3 weeks already?!!?!?!

rubbersoul – you are so right. It seems like we all just starting posting here. It went by so fast! I want my body back!!! I want to have a relatively flat stomach again. I want to run and be able to tie my shoes. I want to have a cocktail!

I thought the same thing about the positioning! I had prodromal labor with DD and she came out sideways (OUCH!) with a giant head. Now DS is laying off to the side, so no telling which way he'll face when he does engage and apparently he has a big head, too. It make sense that you'd be feeling it with a breech baby. I'm sorry you're going through all of this, too. It's so frustrating wondering "Is this it?" only to deal with it all day and it never progresses.

Sorry for no more SOs. I'm feeling kind of crappy right now. I ate a bagel at DD's playgroup, which is a big GD diet no-no, and I don't think it's sitting well. I am reading along though. :)

Did someone recently say that they're having a lot of hip pain? Oh my god. My right hip is so sore today, I feel like a 80 year old woman! I'm guessing it's from lying on my right side (I know, I know. Left side is optimal but I have to switch sides every now and then) last night but this is the first time where the pain doesn't let up. I swear, I felt a little indent on my right hip last night too! Ugh.

Just wanted to join in with my own pity party. ;) I'm tired....I woke up a few times last night because my hips hurt or I was having a contraction. When I finally got up this morning, I was completely nauseated. I feel better this afternoon, but all day I've been alternating between too hot and chilly. My tummy is still sore. My feet/hands are swollen. My feet HURT. The baby has most definitely dropped...not only am I feeling pressure "down low" but I've had a few people comment on it :)

On a more positive note...the girls in my knitting group had a cake for me last night and gave me a gift certificate to a local day spa :D I'm calling to schedule a spa pedi for Saturday now :) It was a wonderful, and welcome, surprise!

No babies yet today? Hmmm, I was really hoping to come in and hear someone had an 11/1 baby. I'm still preg--although I told DH last night, "I'm so tired of being pregnant." After everything we went through to get this far, it's the first time I've thought that (at 39w2d, I don't think that's too bad).

Since yesterday afternoon I've been having a lot of BH and some period-like cramps, but neither are nothing new. I have a doc appt tomorrow morning--hopefully I'll have made some progress and she can try to strip my membranes again.

My friend who had her baby last week is coming to visit tonight--I think that's the only thing getting me through the day. I'm definitely uncomfortable at this point and so glad I took the week off of work!

FYI--Sunday is a full moon!! I think I read somewhere that more babies are born on full moons than any other phase. Here's to hoping we have lots of babies starting this week!

Back from my OB appt. I am now dilated to 2cm and just shy of 50% effacement. Glad to know something is happening down there. She asked if I wanted her to strip my membranes and I was like "Yes, please!" So she made two attempts and now we shall see if it does anything.

If I still show up for my appt next Wednesday (at which point I'll be 4 days overdue), we talk sheduling an induction. That timeline is fine with me.

Full moon I did see that Sunday is the full moon and I'm really hoping that does something to help me move things along!

First of all, Congratulations, Mimieliza and Kyrsten and welcome, Miranda and Carolina!! I can't wait to hear the birth stories!!

I was just about to come in here and vent some angst about how baby hasn't been moving very much today but in the last ten minutes, she's been having a Wiggly Party (if you don't know about the Wiggles and their Wiggly Party yet, it's only a matter of time. I'm sure the RO's do. I'm only privy because I spent the last three years working with babies and toddlers). It feels like she's definitely running out of room in there. No signs of any imminent arrival yet, which is fine with me because I've got big events scheduled for 11/4, 11/5, 11/9, 11/10, 11/11, and 11/16. Basically, due date arrival or later would really work out best for us. We'll see if she concurs. :)

I won't have an internal until my 40-week appointment, so I have no idea if I'm dilated or effaced at all. I've been taking Evening Primrose Oil to soften things up, so we'll see if that makes the cervix a little more "ready" when the time comes.

Thinking of you this evening, Ellidew! Can't wait to hear about Miles' arrival and see pics!!

I just got back from my acupuncture appt. She gave me treatment for induction. She doesn't expect me to need my Monday appt., but I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I have an OB appt on Friday so we'll see if I'm more than 1cm by then. She did tell me that I should have cramping by the time I got to my car and I actually started having cramping by the time I got to the elevators. Still... trying to be realistic here.

Full moon ~ My OB said that they have more deliveries when there's a full moon and/or a severe thunderstorm (drop in barometric pressure), so there is something to that.

I had a crappy OB appointment this morning. It was for 9:00 and we were kept waiting. I hate waiting- I am a stickler at being on time, and I believe when I have an appointment, if I am on time, the other person should be too. 9:15 the nurse practitioner rolls in. She takes my blood pressure, which was a bit higher than normal (most likely because I was pissed I had to wait 15 minutes) and then she says the doctor had a scheduled C-section to do so she was checking me out. She's always kind of bugged me and I have the feeling she doesn't always know what she's talking about and normally the receptionist will call to ask if we want her to check us out or if we want to reschedule. Then we go over my fundal height- which dropped 2 cm, my u/s from Saturday, which says the baby is aprox. 7 pounds already and the whole induction thing-they will not induce until December 1st.
I told her how uncomfortable I was and how much pain I am feeling. She wrote down mild discomfort. I told her it isn't mild, it is constant and intense. She sort of gave me one of those looks like I was being a drama queen. I have felt pain- and I have a high threshold and it really bugged me that she was dismissing my pain.
I mentioned that I have been super itchy from my toes to my nose and she said that she would send me for some more blood work and if there was a problem with my liver, they would induce me sooner. I was elated. I mean, yes it would suck to have liver problems, but this little girl inside me is very important to me, so I would sacrifice myself to get her out soon and healthy. I've never been so happy at the possibility of liver problems.

So we're working on the "big girl room" for Susannah and DH goes out on his own today (without me knowing) and buys sheets, pillows and a shelf for DD's new room. He is desperate to get that room more feminine-looking. (The room is green w/ wood paneling and wood blinds - it used to be the office) He bought her Hello Kitty sheets and a fuzzy Hello Kitty pillow. I am dying of "awwwwww...." over here. :D He is such a guy's guy that this attention to little girl detail just gets me every time.

Sinclair - I was looking over at the Oct mommy thread, and it looks like the last baby in the thread was scheduled to be induced Nov. 1. Wow, I thought they'd have some stragglers, but not that crew. We'll kick up soon, though, don't worry.

Sorry to hear about the OB appt, Sare - I had to wait 30+ minutes today just to get to the assistant who takes the heartbeat and my pulse, then prob another 20 minutes for the Dr... Of course, my appt was at the tail end of their day, so I pretty much expected that. (Plus apparently the husband of the girl who went in before me passed out - HOT waiting room...blech..) You'd think that they'd be on time for the 9am appts, though. But I can see how Dr.'s get so far behind if they're already starting out the day 15 minutes late.

BTW, baby is way down and cervix is getting really soft, but no dialation. I never was dialated any at my appts w/ DD #1 anyway, so I don't expect it.

And it struck me how much med professional types minimize pain unless you're screaming at them. When I went into labor w/ DD, nobody believed me when I got there that I was seriously in labor. They were shocked when they took a slide of fluid and realized my water really HAD broken after all. I'm a transplanted Southerner in NY, and I tend to downplay most everything whereas most of the ladies around here pipe right up about whatever's on their mind. If I look at it in that context, I can see the nurses figuring that comparatively speaking, I shouldn't be as far along as I was. But I'm hoping that this time, given the benefit of past experience, my Dr. will let them know to move a little bit faster. I don't get the firm "not until Dec. 1" thing. How do they know what's going to happen between now and then? That's a whole month away!

Does anybody remember that Kafka story from school? I think it's called "The Metamorphasis". The one where the guy wakes up and realizes that overnight, he has transformed into a cockroach? And he can't get up because he's stuck on his back? That's me at the 3 am bathroom run. A cockroach w/ sciatica who wouldn't even bother getting up if only she didn't have to pee so damn bad...

Good morning, November mommies,

I'm posting for Sinclair319.

Contractions began around 7pm last night and they arrived at the hospital around 1am. Apparently, they gave her an epidural around 4am (which is when she left me a message - she sounded exhausted), so she was going to try to sleep. It's now 8am here.

I'll let you know when Corbin arrives! Please be thinking about them and praying for Corbin's safe arrival into this world.

I was actually in the office for an appt. and saw him drive up into the parking lot about 1/2 hour after my appt. was scheduled to begin! I'm happy to report that I'm a mama! Spencer Eliott arrived on Sunday 10/29 at 1:01pm after 11 hours of labor. He was 2 weeks early, but a hefty 8 pounds, 2 oz and 20 inches long. And cute as can be. Rubbersoul & Sinclair Babies, babies, babies.....

I am so excited.

No news to report here. Oddly enough since the contractions a few days ago, I have been feeling really good. No more pains down there. Heartburn here and there. I have even been walking home from work (~ 1 mile) and no problems at all.

Sare You are lucky. My first OB was great except for the long wait. I typically would wait about a half hour to go into the room and another 10 to be seen. My current OB is a little better, but my wait time (~10 minutes) exceeds the actual appt time.

ppwgal Congrats!!!!!! YAY, as I have said before, BABIES, BABIES, BABIES. Please post pics soon. Take care.

Lilla- I had the bloodwork right away and should know by next Wednesday about the results. We had really spicy Thai last night too!

Sinclair- I'll be thinking about you today! Congratulations!

Katnbug- Thanks! Being the 1st appointment of the day is good but frustrating when they encounter traffic or something.

ppwgal- Wow! Congratulations and Welcome Spencer!!!

Franni-My appointment always takes more than a half hour because they are running around looking for other things and answering emergency calls and the receptionist is asking questions and they are looking for equipment.

ppwgal - congratulations and welcome Spencer!! :D

Rubbersoul & Sinclair - hooray! Can't wait to hear the exciting news!!

Re: wait time - when I had my first son in FL, I went to a group practice and never had to wait too long. Now I see one doctor and I routinely have to wait 45 minutes to be called from the waiting room and another 10-15 minutes sitting in an exam room, to spend about 5 minutes with the doctor. I thought that since this was not a group practice, this was normal. I hate it, but there's no point in switching now I guess. Twice I've almost walked out but figured I'd just have to reschedule and wait again on another day! My son attends a little school program Monday and Tuesday mornings from 8:30a-12:30p, so I can usually make my appointments for when he is in school. No way would I try to wait that long with him in tow!

And in other news, I lost a bit of my mucus plug yesterday. I am sooooo big right now and feel like a lot of you - ready for the pregnancy part to be over and for my little guy to be here!

Whoohoo for more BABIES!!!!

Mermccau~ Ouch! I’m sorry to hear that Connor has decided to move up into your ribcage rather than stay down where he’s supposed to! Go the other way little guy!

Lilo~ I’m having that fun hip pain too, but mine comes and goes throughout the course of the day. Sometimes it’s just one, but usually it’s both of them that ache at the same time so I hobble around like a little old woman without a walker. I also get all sore on whichever side I sleep on, which is usually my left-from my shoulder all the way down to my calf.:(

BethIrish~ I hear ya on the being tired thing! No matter how exhausted I am when I go to bed at night, it still takes me 1-2 hours to manage to fall asleep, no matter how comfortable I get. That’s so sweet of your knitting group girls to do a cake and give you a spa gift certificate, awww! I’m sure the pedi will be very welcomed.:)

Lilla~ Yay for something happening down there!! Let’s hope you have one of the full-moon babies too, how exciting that you might not make it to your next appt. I can’t wait till I’m able to say that, it can’t happen soon enough (after next Thurs though of course, when I’ll be full-term)!;)

Catgirl~ Ooh, I’m hoping that the induction acupuncture helps get things moving along for you!

Sare~ I’m sorry to hear about your crappy ob appt! That mild discomfort thing is bs, why can’t docs take us more seriously when we complain about something such has intense pain that is having a major impact on our daily functions? Ugh, I’m frustrated for you!!:mad:

LizzieBeth~ How sweet of DH to get the little girl stuff for DD’s room!! Can you just picture him taking the purchases to the register and paying for them, big manly man with total girly girl bedding, LOL! Cute Halloween picture, that’s what it’s all about!

Rubbersoul~ OMG! Whoohoo! You’re in my thoughts right now! I’m hoping everything is going well and your DH is able to make it back in time and safely!!

Sinclair~ You’re in my thoughts right now! I’m sending you easy labor vibes and hope that all goes well and Corbin arrives safe and healthy!!

Ppwgal~ Congratulations!!!! Welcome, Spencer!! I’m so happy to hear that all is well and he’s healthy. I can’t wait to see pictures of your little cutie!!:D

Wait time~ I get mad at my ob appts every other week when I go in because I make an effort to get there either on time or early and no matter what they make me wait for 20-30 minutes before even the nurse comes and gets me for the weigh-in/hb listen and then it’s another 10-15 min till I see the dr. It’s incredibly frustrating, as I’m taking time out of my workday in order to be there and am kept waiting around for an hour for an appt that takes all of 10 minutes to complete. And this is with early morning appts too! (8-8:30am, the first appts of the day).

Acrane~ Yay for losing some of the mp!!

Good luck RubberSoul and Sinclair! How exciting that more babies are arriving. The reality that this is really *it* is really starting to hit me now that more of us are having our babies.

Congrats Ppwgal!

Wait time: I must admit that I'm really lucky in this department with my OB practice. I usually only have to wait about 5 minutes before going back to see the doctor. The nurse takes me to get weighed (the worst part! haha) and then we go into the examination room where she takes my blood pressure and listens to the baby's heartbeat. On average, I've waited about 10-15 minutes after that to see the doctor but on the whole, they're very efficient unlike my previous gyn. office. They were horrible! I would have to wait a good 30 minutes just to see a nurse and then maybe another 20 minutes to see the doctor so I can definitely understand everyone's frustration. I'm so glad I switched offices and doctors. Everyone at the hospital where I'll deliver seems to be really great too so I'm happy about that.

------------------

Feeling relatively good here. *knock on wood*. My constant pelvis pain seems to be letting up a bit (it still bothers me when I walk but not as much as last week) so I'm very happy about that. I'm sure not exercising is helping in that department, which is frustrating but worth it since I'm almost done anway. I miss getting my daily dose of exercise but the pain at this point isn't worth it.

Like someone else said, the baby is still very active these days, which is great. I think he's definitely running out of room since he's always jutting out different body parts (although it's mostly his little butt) pretty strongly these days. It's amazing what stirs him up too. If I have a small cup of decaf coffee, he goes crazy! Even really cold water gets him going. It's pretty funny.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow and finally being FULL TERM! I really don't think I'll go into labor anytime soon, which is okay since it's still early November. I think ideally, I'd love to go the weekend of November 17th or that week, a few days earlier than Thanksgiving but we'll see what happens.

I found out recently that two college friends are now pregnant too! One is due in May and the other June. And I must admit, it feels great to have friends that are due now AFTER me since a bunch of my girlfriends have all had babies between July and September of this year.

CONGRATULATIONS ppwgal!!!WELCOME SPENCER!!:)

Rancid- Those stories about women not knowing they're pregnant always make me laugh! HOW can you NOT know??????????
I have a friend who is in his mid 40's. Very normal. Very upper-middle class. He has a daughter who is now about 22. After her freshman year in college, she dropped out and moved back in with him. Her sister found her in the bathroom one day writhing in pain & didn't know what to do. They took her to the hospital. When the dr. finally came out, my friend expected an appendix issue or something like that - nope - the dr. told him that his daughter was about to deliver a baby! :eek:
This is just so "Jerry Springer" to me!! I still think that my friends daughter had to know, and was just afraid to tell her dad... she claims to this day that she didn't. :rolleyes:

Katnbug~ Yeah those stories do sound a bit ridiculous to me too...I mean, how can you not know you're pregnant? Surely there had to be some sort of tip-off that something wasn't quite right with one's body...:confused:

RubberSoul ~ I hope your DH makes it home soon! Best of luck to you!

Sinclair ~ I hope things are moving along well for you. Can't wait to hear the news!

ppwgal ~ Congratulations & welcome to Spencer Eliott!! :D

ellidew ~ Thinking about you and hoping that things are going well!

I think my acu treatment managed to get Devin engaged. It feels like someone has been using "down there" as a punching bag today. Other than that, nothing else is new.

DD is fighting her nap. Gotta go try to get her down... again!!!!!

Can't wait to hear all the birth stories!!

Congratulations, ppwgal - welcome Spencer!!!

I wonder if that was our last October baby or if there are more still to post...

Yippee, Sinclair and Rubbersoul! At least if you've gotten started, you're that much closer to being done! Hope hubby makes it home ASAP. But I'll bet there's no better story to get a favor from an airline reservation type/fellow passenger than "wife in labor...gotta get home fast..." and looking stricken. Might get you some free alcohol on the plane, too... ;)

I think my acu treatment managed to get Devin engaged. It feels like someone has been using "down there" as a punching bag today. Other than that, nothing else is new.

I have the same feeling- it's very sore and tender- as if I have been repeatedly kicked/punched in the groin. I have been putting an ice pack on my crotch when I am laying down watching tv or reading now because it's pretty sore and swollen with all the bloodflow. Weird, huh?

QOTD- in light of everyone being super regular last week, has anyone encountered feeling really gassy? I have been a burper for a while, but now it's so much worse! And it's not just burping! :eek:

I forgot to mention the swollen feeling - I've had that, too! The ice pack is a great idea. I'm going to have to try that tonight.

Re the QOTD... mine has been more heartburn/reflux related for the last 3-4 days. It really burns and is worse at night. I've been gassy for weeks. :o

Oh yeah. DH hates me right now because of it (ok he doesn't hate me, but I guess it's another one of those things he's gotta put up with). Even if I'm in another room, it doesn't matter...it makes its way throughout the house. :o I haven't changed my diet in recent weeks, so it can't be attributed to that. :confused:

Congratulations ppwgirl!!! Welcome Spencer!!!

Congratulations Sinclair319!!! Welcome Corbin!!!

Count me in as another heartburn/reflux sufferer. :( Also, I am congested and have a sore throat. I called the OB nurse and she basically laughed at me when I asked what meds were safe for me. She said I should drink lots of tea and water, take a hot shower and rub Vicks on me. :( No meds allowed, unless I develop a cough and can take plain Robitussin.

DD and I got back Tuesday morning from a quick flight to MA to visit my family. It was the last week my OB would let me fly and DH was away for work. Of course, we both have head colds and running noses, but it was great to see my family and friends one last time. I won't be able to see head back until the spring at the earliest, but with our move it may be up to a year or longer- depending on where the military sends us. :eek:

Let me just say I heart JetBlue. They gave DD a free seat on the way back so I could have her in the car seat instead of my lap. :) The flight even departed early and everyone was super nice to us on both legs of the trip!

So many to congratulate! I hope I don't miss anyone!

Congrats, in absolutely no particular order (bc, let's be honest here...who can keep up these days?!?!), ellidew, Rubbersoul, mimieliza, Sinclair and ppwgal!

Lizzie Beth- thank you! I love the name too. It was always my first pick, but DH originally said he did not like it. About a week before the baby arrived, DH told me that he had changed his mind and really loved the name. I was crushed bc we have been calling the baby Anabella for so long, I really couldn't imagine her as anything else...until she was here. She just isn't an Anabella! So, here she is...Carolina Chloe Layne...my chunk a chunk chunk:

first day

Halloween, one day old

coming home, yesterday

It is pretty much impossible to get a pic with her eyes open. They are bright blue though. :)

It is amazing how quickly they change! She has already lost 6 ounces, and her coloring has changed so much since the first day.

She is sleeping quite a lot, and has to be woken up to eat. We are working on nursing...it is going to be a bit of a challenge. My milk finally came in today, though, so I am hoping for an upswing in that relationship.

Speaking of which...I have to go feed Carrie now :)

Kyrsten ~ Carrie is such a little doll! I love the pics. So cute that you got a Halloween one, too! BTW, "Carrie" is a very nice name (it's mine, too!). :) Best of luck with BFing. We had a lot of latch problems with DD so I know how difficult it can be. Hang in there!

CityGirl ~ Yay!! That's such wonderful news. I'm very happy for you.

ellidew ~ Congratulations and welcome to Miles Charles! Can't wait to hear how things are going. K-L-U ~ Thank you for the update!

neenbean ~ I hope you feel better soon! Nothing like being this PG and having a cold, huh?! Glad your trip went well.

Rancid ~ LOL about your gassiness and DH's reaction. Sounds like some pretty potent stuff you got there! ;) :)

Anyone else getting impatient?? I really didn't think I would, but I'm 39w 1d today with absolutely zero signs of labor. Every few days I have contrax or some other signs and then nothing happens. I have an OB appt later this morning... hoping I'm at least 2cm, but I have a feeling I'm stuck at 1cm. Funny, my OB told me that most 2nd time moms go sometime between 37-39 weeks. Guess I blew that stat away.

Congratulations Ellidew!!! Welcome Miles!!!

Awesome news Citygirl!!! DD was breech for many weeks, but we were so happy to get the news she had turned last time. Good luck with your homebirth plans!

So, how many pregnant mamas are left???? So many births, this is all very exciting. I go for my first internal today. Yippee. :( Ugh. DD has to come with me because my sitters are busy and DH has to work. So not happy about that one. Baby was transverse TWICE yesterday!!! I don't know what is up with that, but the bum or something really big (head?) was all the way on my right side after lunch and dinner. Guess when my belly is full there is no room for baby! :eek:

WARNING!!!! COMPLAINING VENT AHEAD! I just need to get this out before I explode! My most recent complaints/ailments:

I awake every morning between 3-4AM and cannot fall back asleep.

I have a headcold from hell!

Now I have a cough, too.

I feel like I have been riding a horse (so sore!) and have not had the pleasure of DTD in more than 10 days. :( (my libido has be abnormally high since getting the BFP)

my nipples are so dark!!! I am talking BLACK- like I colored them with DD's magic markers, BLACK! :eek:

DH has been working late hours and I am so tired when he comes home, I barely acknowledge his existance.

I am cranky.... And of course, DH gets the brunt of my frustrations. Poor guy.

I woke up at 1:30AM today with the worst acid taste in my throat and mouth and felt like I was about to throw up. Thank GAWD for chewy rolaids!!!!!!

[/vent]
Thanks for letting me get that out of my head!

On a more positive note, baby will be arriving in 17 days, or earlier! :D That is what keeps me going everyday. :)

Copied from my LJ:
I had my 39 week appointment yesterday.

My blood pressure was a bit high again. It was within normal range - I think it was 122/78 or something - but that is high for me. Between that and my feet being big, my dr was wondering if I should go back to work. She took my blood pressure again and it was down lower... she decided I was okay.

So, then came the internal. I was thinking of refusing it but then something kept me from doing so.

I am 70% effaced but only a half centimeter dialated. The internal was damn umcomfortable and there was some nice bright red blood to show for it.

After all these weeks of "everything is perfect" or "everything is right on target", at this appointment I get, "the baby may be getting big in there and I do not want you to go too far past your due date".

Okay.... my doctor predicts that Connor is measuring (or will measure) about or over 8 lbs. But, like she said, this is a rough estimate.

So, my next appointment is next Thursday, on the 9th. She said that if my body has not moved along before then, she would like to induce me that weekend. She is on call on Friday and Sunday.

Fluttery queasy butterflies in my stomach - small waves of panic.

So, within a week and a half, I will have a kid.

Funny you all mention the full moon. My coworker told me the same!

QOTD: being gassy – oh, yeah. My digestive system is all messed up and it was not that great to begin with. I also have swollen feet that sweat profusely! I am SO not attractive right now!

bethirish – sorry to hear that you are feeling lousy. Hang in there – almost time!

lizzie beth – Susannah is a darling in her costume! So sweet. :)

rubbersoul – wow!! Here you go! I hope your husband gets home soon.

Sinclair – best of luck! Er, I mean “Congratulations!!” :D

ppwgal – Congrats!! :D

rancid – thanks but come to find out, he is not moving up – he is just getting longer and bigger! Funny news story. I just cannot believe how a woman would not know they are pregnant! I guess it happens though.

citygirl – great news on the baby turning! You must be so relieved!

kyrsten – I love the faces your beautiful daughter makes!

neenbean – Hope you feel better! Yikes, you are suffering.

I am officially full term today! WOOHOO!!! So happy about that. But like catgirl, I am having zero signs of labor so I'm sure I'll be here for a while.

Congrats Sinclair and Ellidew!!!!!

Krysten: Cute pictures of Carrie. The Halloween outfit is adorable.

Impatient: Yes and no. On the one hand, I'm definitely ready to be done with pregnancy and meet my baby but on the other hand, I'm okay with waiting another week or so. Of course I may change my mind as I get more and more uncomfortable by the day.

neenbean: Sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. I've been waking up too around 3 or 4am for the past few nights, which is so frustrating. It takes me forever to get back to sleep. Good luck at your appt. today and hopefully you'll get some good news from your first internal. :)

mermccau: Wow, a week and half is nothing! That is so exciting. I'm glad your blood pressure went down a bit though. It's amazing how many 'big' babies we're having in this thread. I'm fully expecting to have a 8 lb baby but they won't induce me because of it. Darn! ;)

Gassy: Oh yeah. But I've been like this for a while only now it's getting worse. For me, the worst is now horrible heartburn at night where my throat burns. Ugh. Tums has become my new best friend.

----------------------------------

I am sooo glad it's Friday! I think I did a little too much yesterday (running a bunch of errands and cooking a ton) since I'm in a lot of pain again this morning. Last night I could hardly walk because I had so much pelvis pain. Ugh. I will definitely be taking it easy this weekend and from now on. I hate feeling so 'unproductive' but my body is just not cooperating these days. I almost stayed home from work today but I figured since I only have 2 more weeks of work, I could suck it up. Thank GOD I can sit down all day (except for the frequent bathroom breaks of course!).

No big plans this weekend except brunch with a girlfriend and maybe a quick trip to Babies R Us.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and the full moon brings even more babies! :D

heartburn Oh don't get me started with this. I thought I was the only one whose baby seems to be standing up in there. I have heartburn but I also have punches down by the pubic bone.

elusive signs of labor I had a couple of contractions on Halloween and then NOTHING.ZIP.NADA. I have been walking home daily from work hoping to start something, but again NADA.

neenbean I am there with YA! Thankfully I don't have a cold because just thinking about it is making me miserable already. Hang in there. It won't be for much longer.

Impatient On the one hand, I am. On the other hand, I have SOOOO much to do still that a little delay might actually help me finish up all that I need to get done.

mermccau That is so exciting. You have a date.

Kyrsten She is gorgeous! Congratulations!! Best of luck on the breastfeeding :)

Congrats to everyone who's little ones have arrrived. I'm feeling insanely jealous...I want to meet my little one already.

I had my 37 week appointment today (rescheduled from Tuesday.) Everything looked great...BP was fine, no protein in the urine. I am retaining A LOT of water, but she didn't seem too concerned. Baby is measuring right on...she's prediciting a 7.5 pounder. I had my first internal and the GBS test. Honestly, I was expecting the internal to be worse...it really wasn't all that bad! I am 50% effaced and about 1 cm dialated. I know I shouldn't get too excited...but I am ;) I'm just glad that the cramping/contractions that I'm feeling are DOING something!!

mermccau How exciting to actually have a date! I would have the same feelings...nervous excitement :) I know how you are feeling on the sweaty/swollen/gassy front. UGH!

Oh, one last thing....I spoke with DH last night/this AM...and if the baby doesn't come by the 17th, that will be my last day of work. It's the Friday before my due date and the Friday before Thanksgiving week. We both figure that I'll be even more uncomfortable/exhausted by then, and if s/he hasn't arrived I deserve some time off anyway! So, I'm excited to say that I have 2 weeks left of work, no matter what. YIPPEE!!!!!

Citygirl~ Yay for the baby turning!! I hope you don’t feel too beat-up after the version. I’m curious what sort of things the doc wants you do (or not do?) to help keep him from turning back around??

Kyrsten~ She’s so precious!!! Such a tiny, adorable bundle!! I hope everything goes well for the both of you with regards to nursing, I’ve heard it can be quite difficult to get the hang of at first (I’m not looking forward to it, but am definitely planning on giving it my best effort).

CONGRATULATIONS Ellidew!! And welcome to little Miles!! I can’t wait to hear more and see this little guy!!!:D

Rancid ~ LOL about your gassiness and DH's reaction. Sounds like some pretty potent stuff you got there!
Funny…he likes to use the word “potent” too. LOL!!

Impatient~ You know, I’m getting there. I definitely want to make it full-term which will be another 6 days, but then I’m fully prepared for him to arrive anytime after that pretty much. I haven’t had anything “going on” lately, no BH’s, no losing the plug, etc. No internals so I don’t know if I’m dilated/effaced or ANYthing yet…but I’m hoping something starts to happen in the next few weeks. After I reach the full-term point, I’m gonna start looking into that Natural Inductions thread to see if there’s anything I can do to get things moving in there…Here’s hoping that the full moon this weekend helps do the trick for those of you who are ready NOW!

I awake every morning between 3-4AM and cannot fall back asleep.

Ugh, same here! I’m getting a little tired (literally) of it!

I feel like I have been riding a horse (so sore!) and have not had the pleasure of DTD in more than 10 days.(my libido has be abnormally high since getting the BFP)

ITA with the soreness in that area; my libido has been soooo low since the BFP, I believe it’s been somewhere around 2 mos since the last time we DTD? Don’t feel sorry for DH though, he’s taken care of in other ways…

DH has been working late hours and I am so tired when he comes home, I barely acknowledge his existance.

Ditto here, except that most nights I don’t even get to see DH b/c I’m in bed sleeping (or attempting to sleep) by the time he gets home at 11pm or midnight.

Mermccau~ Sorry to hear about the high(er) blood pressure. Good to hear that it was lower the 2nd time the doc checked it though. Ouch about the internal! You might be induced as early as next weekend, huh? How exciting yet scary at the same time…here’s hoping your appt next week goes well!

Lilo~ Congrats on being full term!! Sorry to hear about all your pelvis pain, I feel you on that. I even cut out my 30-45 min daily walks because it was just too painful for me to walk for more than 5 minutes before I started having to limp b/c of the pain.

BethIrish~ Whoohoo for some sort of progression going on down there!! Yay for having 2 weeks of work left!! I’m either doing the same thing (depending on how I’m feeling come the 17th) or I’ll do the partial week the following week before the T-Day holiday and just stay gone from work till maternity leave is over.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had my pregnancy massage last night at my favorite spa, and it was heavenly! I think I fell asleep during the last 15 minutes it was so relaxing. I don’t know if this was related to the massage or not, but my feet and ankles were quite swollen last night, I’ve never seen them like that. So instead of doing all the chores I was planning on getting done (dishes, laundry, light cleaning/straightening up) I ended up sitting on the couch with my feet up for several hours instead. Other than that and the still somewhat-irritated skin (nowhere near as bad as it was though!) I haven’t been feeling all that bad lately…just anxious to meet my little guy already!!
I've been falling a bit behind on taking and posting my belly shots.
Here's my boy belly at 35w last week:
It feels like he's dropped in the last couple of weeks, but you really can't tell from the pics, can you?
I changed them to B&W b/c my belly's been so itchy and irritated again lately that I'm sure you all don't care to see the redness of it (nor do I!). :)
mermccau ~ Congrats on having an end date to look forward to! Who knows though... maybe the full moon will do some work of its own. :)
lilo ~ Congrats on being full-term! I hope you have a nice, relaxing weekend.
Franni ~ You & I are in the same boat. I hope the heartburn and pelvic pain let up at least a little!
BethIrish ~ Yay for only 2 more weeks of work! Nice way to kick off the holidays. :)
K-L-U ~ Please give ellidew our best. Dang... that's one long baby boy she had!!
Rancid13 ~ Great belly shots! I can't tell if he's dropped either. I think it's b/c of the different pants that you're wearing. He's definitely sticking out more though. :) You look great!
39 week update ~ I was at the doctor's office for 2 hours today. Apparently I ate b'fast too early and by the time I had my appt., Devin was sound asleep for the NST. I was on that stupid machine for.ever!!!!! They finally gave me some juice and his heartrate started jumping all over the place, like it should. Then I had my internal and despite the 100s of contrax I've had, I'm still 1 freakin' cm and my cervix is long. Blah!!!!!!! He did say that it's very soft though - what does a soft cervix mean? I'll have to look that up after this post. So I'll have another appt next Fri. at 40w1d, along with an NST and u/s to measure my fluid since I have GD. Then they'll determine whether to let me go to 41 weeks or induce. I'll be very upset with an induction since I can't have an epidural and Pitocin contrax are awful. I'm really hoping for some full moon contrax that DO something this weekend!
Catgirl- I hope you don't have to go too much later and that Devin comes on his own.
Update- I have had some contractions so far today- since 8:30- I have had them about every half hour or 45 minutes. I'm not convinced that they are real ones though. We'll see!
Rancid - After the version at the hospital I had to sit around for 45 minutes or so with a funny home made binding on my belly. The docs took two rolled up towels and placed one on either side of my belly, then tied them into place with a sheet and a couple of foam straps. It was pretty funny. Then they just suggested that I stay upright for the rest of the day until I went to bed, and no more reclining for the rest of the pregnancy. My homebirth midwife added that I should be doing lots of walking, squatting, and sitting on my birth ball. I'm also going to stay out of the pool from here on out, and stop doing the hands and knees exercises I had been doing to keep the babe from engaging in the pelvis.
I am sorry to hear so many of you are feeling the same way as me (minus the head cold/cough). It sucks and I feel bad that others are just as miserable.
With all my misery and self-pity, I am glad to report baby has not engaged. I had my internal yesterday and my cervix is still VERY long and baby shows no signs of appearing any time soon. I need at least this weekend to finish organizing the house and also get some errands done. DH is home for a couple more days (he travels a LOT for work), so I am taking full advantage of his help. :p He will be away the entire week before my c/s and a few days at the end of next week, so I am a little freaked that baby may come before he is home.
Fortunately, we have a great plan for DD- I have 4 friends lined up to take her. One for during the day, one if I go into labor at night and another 2 back-up, last-minute, if no one else is around type situations. Getting DH home from his travels is a whole other story, but I am going to try not to worry about that now.
Next Friday is DH's step-grandfather's funeral (8+ hours away) and I have been advised not to travel. :( I really wanted to be there for sMIL, but I have to remember I am about to deliver a baby and need to be home. We have to call them today and share the news. :(
I am feeling so much better after venting yesterday! Thank you all for letting me whine about things. My head cold still sux, but c'est la vie. 16 days and I can take all the drugs I want!!! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!;) :eek:
I forgot to add that my dear friend was so kind and watched DD while I had my appointment yesterday! For regular visits, I don't mind her coming, but for an internal, I thought it was best to go alone.
One more question....
What do you do if your OB keeps you waiting for a VERY long time???
After waiting only 10 minutes, the nurse ushered me back to the exam room, took my vitals and had me undress for my internal/GBS. I waited 75 minutes, (yes, one hour and 15 minutes!!!) for my OB to come do my internal. The nurse reminded her several times that I was "next" but she had other things to do, obviously. BTW, I was sitting on the exam table in my t-shirt and a paper blanket for that entire time. :eek: Some how, I managed to fall asleep for 30 of those minutes, but seriously, that is too long. I didn't know how to complain without being REALLY snarky, and I only have a 2 more appointments with her before the c/s.... Ugh. Despite being very annoyed, I was more upset that I had not had lunch and was so hungry, that is all I cared about- not being 1/2 naked by myself, waiting for my doc.
Holy Crap, Neen! 75 minutes?? Clearly they should EXPECT some complaints. At the very least they could've kept you in the waiting room w/ some magazines or something. Really, if it's going to be that long, waiting in the exam room doesn't make me feel any more special, or anything...
Is your DH in the military? Mine is going back...we met while he was in the Army, then he got out. He's got a great regular job now as a cop, and still has 11 years to go until retirement, but he's in the process of getting into the Air Force Reserve. He tells me the deployments will be short.. :rolleyes: Add that to the volunteer firefighter stuff and you'll see that there are enough dress uniforms in my closet to start a museum...;)
I also hear ya on feeling sick...I've had a pretty sore throat for almost a week now, it's driving me nuts... I plan on strong-arming my Dr. into doing something about it if it's not gone by my next appointment..
Hot Damn and Hallelujah, Citygirl!!!! But you're not supposed to recline at all? Is lying down okay? (I just have these sad visions of you sleeping standing up....)
Kyrsten - Carrie is gorgeous!!! (And I love the nickname, too - Caroline was a runner-up for me, and I would've called her Carrie) Now did you have that Halloween costume ready and waiting, or did somebody decide that Carrie, at one day old, certainly couldn't go without a costume?? I figure there must be a good story there...
Catgirl - LOVE the new avatar. I don't know what it is w/ kittens and toilets, but I've had that experience w/ my kitties.
Rancid - Right there with you on the gas. I could put up a sign and fill automobiles w/ it! Actually, for both girls, that's been the very first sign of pregnancy. My DH just gets so embarassed.. He's a real manly-man type and he started out our marriage thinking that respectable women don't fart. :rolleyes: I actually enjoy proving him wrong over and over and over...
Congratulations, Ellidew and Sinclair & welcome Miles and Corbin!!!
Well, I am now officially unemployed. (not really, I'm actually on maternity leave, but it FEELS like unemployed) Friday was my last day. They had a nice little party for me at work and gave me a nice giftcard which I am going to go put a dent in after I'm done posting. I knew I had to leave before there was a risk of me actually having the baby, because otherwise they won't send a replacement for me, and it would really screw everybody else over. (And sure enough, they didn't breathe a word about replacing me until Wednesday) And of course my replacement had to train her replacement, so I had zero time to train her. I just set her up the absolute best that I could for Monday and gave her my cellphone and unlimited access to call me.
I do have a lot of plans over the next week, and I want to stay as busy as I can. Otherwise the aches and pains really start to annoy me. I've got that pelvic pain everybody's been talking about...what fun..., the stabbing pains, the heartburn, the sciatica.. And I've mostly been able to ignore it because work keeps me distracted during the day and too wiped out at night..
But it's probably best that I'm nearer to home...Cause I nearly got WIPED OUT the other day on the road.. What is it w/ car accidents/near misses in late pregnancy? I'm starting to get paranoid.
First we got rear ended a month or so ago, (which I told you guys about) then on my way home from an OB visit 2 weeks ago, I looked over across the median and saw a truck that had obviously just crashed into something or someone - front all smashed up and smoke rising from the hood - limping over to the side of the road.. And like all true rubberneckers, both cars in front of me were looking, too, but the first slowed down, the second didn't and there was a massive squealing of brakes as THEY tried to avoid a collision and I tried to avoid them..
And then Thursday night, coming home, I'm on an onramp getting onto the parkway, I've got my turn signal on, but I haven't yet begun to move out of my lane of travel, and I hear this godawful SCREEEEEEETCHH!! :eek: from the left rear. It was so very close and loud that I thought, okay, this is it.., I slow down as much as possible and try to move as far right toward the shoulder as I can...this guy comes spinning past me (I'd say he spun a good 35-40 yards or so) and slams into the concrete median on the other side of the road, hard. It was rush hour and the road was so crowded, I don't know HOW he avoided hitting me or anybody else, but he did. (Not like he was in any way in control of his car or anything...) I have no idea what caused him to swerve like that, don't know if he thought I was coming over immediately or if there was something else behind me but in front of him that he was trying to avoid, but holy crap! That was a close one. I do know that when I checked my mirror AND turned to look a split-second before, he was NOT there. So he must have been changing lanes or something. Or the full moon or whatever, I don't know - maybe the guy was in the middle of changing into a werewolf or something. But thanks, God, or whoever else was watching out for me Thursday night.. :o
So be careful out there, girls!! The nuts are on the road!
We're home and oh so in love! I need to get some rest, but will be back to read updates, post my birth story and hopefully a picture of my little guy. It's such an amazing experience and DH and I just wonder how we created something so perfect!
Catgirl - I just love your avatar's.
Thanks! :) It's become an obsession of mine. :o Did you get to visit with ellidew? If so, how's she doing?
Sare ~ How are you? Did your contrax get any stronger?
CityGirl ~ I hope your little one stays in place for you!
neenbean ~ I'm glad you're feeling better! It sounds like you have a great plan in place for having your DD taken care of. That's gotta be a relief!
Waiting at OB's office ~ I've never had to wait longer than 5-10 minutes. I've had really long visits though b/c the NST isn't providing good results and that's pushed back some doctor's visits. 75 minutes is way.too.long to be kept waiting though, esp sitting there bored out of your mind in the examining room.
Lizzie Beth ~ Congrats on being on maternity leave! It sounds like you've seen your fair share of nuts on the road - what's up with that?! I'm glad you're okay.
Sinclair ~ Aaawww... your post brought tears to my eyes. Can't wait to hear how things went!
Well, I think I'm in full on nesting mode. So far today I've cleaned up all of DD's toy area (it looks like Toys R Us in our family room and I hate that!), and I used the Hoover Floor Mate to wet vac our foyer, dining room, kitchen and family room. I still have tons of energy. Hopefully this means something other than I got a good night's sleep last night. :rolleyes: C'mon full moon!!!!!!
I wanted to drop off a pic of our birth announcement. I had to approve the proof this morning & they'll be ready this afternoon. :) I think they turned out really cute!
Yikes! I think I'm the first one in this thread to still be pregnant on my EDD! I'm trying my darndest to be patient and wait for this little girl to let me know when she's ready......but it's not easy to wait! Good news is that I think I'm losing my mucus plug little by little - started noticing it lastnight and have had a bit more throughout the day today. Keeping my fingers crossed that it means things are going to start happening soon.
X-posted from my journal-
The contractions from yesterday stopped in the afternoon, but guess who came back with a vengence? My kidney stones.
I woke up at 2:30 with a light crampy feeling in my lower left back, and so I thought maybe I just had to go to the bathroom. I did and everything was normal but the cramp didn't go away and I couldn't fall back asleep. I sat in my chair in Carys' room and read up on the last time I had it in my journal and had the exact same things happeneing. I thought, before I went to the hospital, I should guzzle a bunch of water to see if it goes away. 6 glasses of water and almost two hours later, the pains intensified and I couldn't pee very much. I woke Joel up at 5:00 and told him what was happening and that I needed to go back to the hospital.
When we got there, admitting automatically thought I was in labour and it would be the first of many times I would say "I'm not in labour, but I am 38 weeks pregnant." I got checked in and hooked up to the fetal monitoring and Carys' heartbeat was good- on the high side. My blood pressure was high but mostly because I was in the hospital and it did go down over the course of the stay. They ended up monitoring me for a while and once they got a hold of my doctor, they gave me a couple of bags of iv fluid and a shot of demerol. The iv was a pain to get put in because they couldn't get a vein on the first hand, although they dug a nice tunnel. The iv nurse came and did to to my other hand a few minutes later though. When they took it out, it was gushing blood for almost a whole minute- we went throigh three gauze pads and 2 band-aids! Once the fluid was done, I showed them I could pee and they sent me home (about 10:00). I have been asleep since then and just woke up and the pain is now a dull ache in my kidneys. They asked for radiology to call me and make an appointment for another renal scan to see how the stones are doing. It might be as late as Monday or Tuesday though. Until then, I can take tylenol, have to cut back on my calcium and have to guzzle a lot more water.
All that and still no baby girl.
Went to see Ellidew last night. Miles is just so darn adorable. He looks like daddy and has mommy's ears. Everyone is doing well. I think that we are going to go see how she is tomorrow. Seeing all of them last night was the best thing EVER!!
Just a quick post to say that....
Megan Jane was born November 1st. 6lbs, 6oz & 18 1/2 inches long. We're both doing well even though I wound up having a c-section instead of being able to attempt the VBAC I wanted. Medically (for her) it was necessary to adjust our plans and while I'm not enjoying the recovery, we're so happy to have her here!
More later...
Congratulations Brio! Welcome Megan!
katnbug, your birth announcements are beautiful! You know? Here are not usual but looking at yours I would like to send them! :)
Sare, I hope your renal disease will be better.
Yesterday night I held in my arms a little girl of 1 month, daughter of friends, but still seemed strange the idea of having a baby like that in the womb! I feel it kicking but still seems impossible... Do you feel the same sensation?
Happy Sunday to everyone!
Kat ~ Hilary's birth announcements are beautiful! Where did you get them done? I recognize the pic from the place you posted your pics from a few pages back - did they do the birth announcement, too?
Lilla ~ Good news about the mucous plug! Hopefully this is a good sign for you. Hang in there... I'm hitting my due date on Thurs. and showing zero signs of labor.
Sare ~ Oh my gosh, you have been through so much! How are you feeling today? I hope the Tylenol is bringing you some relief.
K-L-U ~ Thank you for the update! Glad to hear that ellidew and Miles are doing well.
brio ~ Congratulations & welcome to Megan Jane!! I'm glad to hear she's doing well and I wish you a speedy recovery.
scarlett ~ I know... it's hard to believe that we actually have babies in our wombs that really look like babies! My friend delivered her baby at 33 weeks and she looked just like a newborn but tiny. I couldn't believe how she was all "put together" (for lack of a better term) and that I had something like that in me.
Question ~ Okay, I'm starting to get nervous. I posted this question in the 35+ Mommies thread, but really need all the input I can get. My due date is Thursday. There's no mistaking the date b/c I was charting and they actually caught my ovulation on u/s (how cool is that?!). I was experiencing some other issues and had 3 u/s while TTC. Anyway, my doc has mentioned induction at 40 weeks (later this week). I've always been of the school of thought that babies should arrive when they're ready, unless there's a medical issue. I've had hyperemesis, GD (which can cause the placenta to age pre-maturely), and erratic BP (controlled with acupuncture). I can't have an epi b/c of previous back surgery and Pitocin contrax without an epi are brutal. Given all that, and that I'm 37 years old, would you agree to an induction at 40 weeks or risk going to 41 and see if the baby arrives on his own? I'm getting nervous that something will happen to Devin if I don't get him out, esp with the complications I've had (even though minor) and my age.
Yayyyy, Brio, Welcome MEGAN!!!! How's big sis doing so far??? (We are going to be BIG buddies on this issue)
Sorry about the repeat C. That's a bummer. :( Hope your recovery is faster than you expect.. FWIW, everybody makes a big deal about VBAC's, but I've known some people who had them and were still disappointed about the recovery - cause there is STILL a recovery period, just less restrictive, though painful in different ways..
And yay about getting closer to your due date this time!! And of course I love the name, as Susannah shares a middle name w/ Miss Megan Jane.
Alright, so now all the labor vibes from the Jan 2005 mommygroup now officially belong to ME. Bring it on, babyyyyyyy!! :D
Catgirl I would probably sit down at my next appointment and share all of those concerns. In your situation- I see a medical reason to be induced- an aged placenta could be a serious issue. If you do choose the induction route- there is the possibility that your RO status could help you out (smaller doses of pitocin needed to help things along.) I don't see your age as a big issue- but if it is causing you alarm- it ABSOLUTELY worth discussing with your doc. Have you been doing kick counts? How is your little guy moving? There are just sooo many what-ifs to this equation- what if you go to 41 and he still has not made his showing?
This is just my $.02- but I would sit down with my doctor and spill my guts- then see what my options are. Being the oddball that I am- I'd split the difference and talk induction at 40 weeks 3 days.;) Whatever you decide- we'll all be cheering you on! (I'll say a little prayer that labor starts today and you
