CONGRATULATIONS LYDIA!! Welcome to the world Mason!!
******************
Sad, but funny... we had a few of our friends over last night for pizza and so they could meet DD. I had one glass of wine and it must have totally knocked me out. I put DS to bed around 9:30 and I fell asleep with him! When I woke myself up our guests had left!!! :eek: I'm a little embarassed!

Kat ~ I could really go for a glass of wine right now!! I'm sure your guests understood. You just gave birth!
Okay... so I'm having a major emotional breakdown right now. My sciatica or pelvic girdle pain (whichever it is) has been awful for the last 2 days to the point that I'm thinking, but not voicing out loud, that I want Devin to hurry up and arrive. Now if you've read my posts all along, you'll know what a huge switch that is for me. I've always said I wanted him late. Now that I'm thinking I want him to be here, I'm thinking about how this is our last baby, and now I'm bawling my eyes out. What is wrong with me?? It's like I'm having PPD before I even have the baby and that's freaking me out, too!! I seriously do not normally cry like this. I want so much to hold him, cuddle him, BF him, love him, etc., but I also want to keep him inside where he's safe, warm and easy to take care of. I cannot believe I'm crying like this. I really am a normally upbeat optimistic person. Maybe I'm just feeling old and pre-menopausal... ??
Thanks for letting me vent. :o

Sounds like hormones, exhaustion and the overwhelming discomfort have knocked you out! PLEASE give yourself a break and know that it is OK to cry! Get it out of your system!!! If your DH is home today, take a bath, maybe go for a pedicure (my response to any stress while pregnant!), have some alone time, take a nap or just laze around. You are entitled to have freak out moments. Your body is not your own right now and trying to control it can be futile. Good luck and lots of hugs to you!!! Only a little while longer, right?

neenbean ~ Thank you! A pedicure actually sounds wonderful, esp as I look at the chipped paint from my last one in August!! I might try to get in tomorrow afternoon. Who knows... maybe this is a sign of labor, right? Nope, not much longer - 11/9 is my EDD. I guess I have to remind myself of the family trips to Disney, etc. when my kids are a little older.
Lydia ~ Can't wait to hear how things are going. Welcome home!
catgirl I have sciatica so bad right now that I can barely walk. I have had it for about a week and a half now. Of course, as we all know, the only real solution is having the baby...so it is perfectly reasonable that you feel the way you do!
Some things that I have tried to get relief are a heating pad on the area, cat and cow yoga asanas, ice packs, tylenol...I think that is everything. You might get some temporary relief from one of those. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. I can totally sympathize. :(

catgirl- It's ok to have a few freak out moments at this point!! You've been through a lot with this pregnancy. I know you're feeling a little differently about this being your last pregnancy than I was - you're focusing on this being an ending to a time/phase of your life and it's ok to mourn that. :o I want you to know that it's a WHOLE different feeling you will be experiencing a few weeks (or less?) from now. I can't explain the feeling of "complete-ness" that I have right now. It's like I can totally feel the next stage of my life starting. It's kind of weird, but I am totally happy as I look at my kids and husband and look forward to what lies ahead for us. It's a wonderful feeling.. and you too will be here very soon, I just know it!!! :)
lydia- I'm glad you're all home safe & healthy!! I can't wait to hear your story.
I know that we have discussed this before, but I think it must have been in one of the previous versions of this thread. Forgive me, but I do not have the patience to try to find it right now.
What does PUPP rash look like? I started to get a rash about three days ago. It was confined to my chest, and was itchy, but nothing compared to the sciatica and acid reflux, so it wasn't really bothering me that much. Today, out of nowhere, it seems to have spread to my stomach and back.
I can feel bumps, but not really see them. It was the same with my chest, but after a few days of irritation, the bumps became more visible, but still not really red or anything like that. Just slightly pink, very small bumps on my chest.
I put benadryl on my chest last night, and it calmed the itching a little. I just put some on my stomach, but I am feeling like maybe I shouldn't have done that. I know that benadryl is okay after the first tri, but is it only oral benadryl that is okay?

Kyrsten- I'm not sure what you have is a PUPPP rash or not. Sorry your itchy though, i can relate. It's been keeping me up at night for a week!
Here's the info i posted the other day. Hope you feel better soon!
More info on PUPP: This must be what i have going on. Thanks catgirl!
Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP), also known as polymorphic eruption of pregnancy, is the most common rash in pregnant women. It normally occurs in first pregnancies during the third trimester with an average onset of 35 weeks. Thankfully, PUPPP does not usually affect subsequent pregnancies.
Appearance of PUPPP
The rash of PUPPP almost always begins in the stretch marks (striae) of the abdomen. It does not involve the belly button distinguishing it from other common rashes of pregnancy. The rash itself consists of small, red wheals in the stretch marks that grow together to form larger wheals on the abdomen. Sometimes the rash can include small vesicles. Over the next several days, the rash can spread over the thighs, buttocks, breasts, and arms. (well, i'm looking forward to this! Bleh!)
The rash is very itchy, or pruritic, hence the name. This condition is harmless to mother and baby, but can be very annoying. It lasts an average of 6 weeks and resolves spontaneously 1 to 2 weeks after delivery. The most severe itching normally lasts for no more than 1 week. (YAY! Only a couple of days to go!!!)
Cause of PUPPP
The cause of PUPPP is unknown. It is not associated with preeclampsia, autoimmune disorders, hormonal abnormalities, or fetal abnormalities. Some investigators suggest that the rapid abdominal wall distension damages connective tissue and causes an inflammatory response. One study has shown that male fetal DNA can be found in skin biopsies of the rash. Since 70% of women with PUPPP give birth to boys, (yup, having a boy!) a new hypothesis is that male fetal DNA acts as a skin irritant.
Diagnosis of PUPPP
The diagnosis of PUPPP is clinical, meaning it is based solely on the appearance of the rash. There are no laboratory tests that detect PUPPP. Skin biopsies are not generally performed unless there is a question about the diagnosis.
Treatment of PUPPP
The treatment of PUPPP is symptomatic. High strength steroid creams or ointments, such as clobetasol (Temovate) or betamethasone (Diplrolene) (oooh, i already have some of this that i use for eczema! I'm going to avoid using it if i can though.) , used up to 5 to 6 times a day usually relieve the itching and prevent the spread of the rash. Once the rash is under control, changing to a lower strength steroid used less frequently is advisable. For severe cases, daily oral steroids may be necessary to control itching. Oral antihistamines such as atarax, benadryl, and zyrtec (yeah, i take this daily already, it doesn't do a lick of good!), are generally less effective for itching than steroids, but may be useful at night to help with sleep.

Ok so today is the 22nd. Who is it going to be?? Anyone feeling anything??
;) ;)
My God how I wish for it to be me! I don't think I am that lucky though.
I spent half of last night thinking of going to the hospital and demanding that I be induced. Funny how irrational pregnancy can make a person.

It certainly won't be me, but I was having some fairly consistent BH yesterday. I'm not quite 36 weeks so that could have been a bit early, huh?
I'm ready for this to be over though. :) Knowing how stubborn and bratty this baby has been inside me, she won't be here for a month!

Kyrsten ~ My sciatica has acted up over the last few weeks, maybe 2-3 days/week, and like yours it gets so bad that I can't walk. I don't know how you're doing it, having it everyday. It's awful, isn't it? You're getting induced next week, right? I don't blame you one bit!
Kat ~ Thank you! What you wrote about how you feel "complete" puts things into a different perspective. I don't remember being this emotional when PG with DD... maybe b/c I didn't know what was to come with those first newborn weeks. ;)
No baby for me today either. I'm really anxious for the next baby to arrive though.
DH & I went out to dinner last night for our anniversary (it's on 10/25). It was sooooo nice to get away to a grown up restaurant and not have a little one to watch after. We went to Morton's and I cheated (big time!) on my GD diet. It was totally worth it though.

Congrats nic and Lydia!!!!
Wow! Lots of action in here lately! I won't be the one having a baby today either.....pretty quiet on my end for now! Although I would love to see someone keep this pattern going that we've got here!
So, I'm officially on maternity leave. Sure hasn't hit me yet. DH and I finally put the finishing touches on the nursery this weekend, so I thought I'd share...first pic is looking as you enter the room and then panning around to the left (sorry, but they did come out a bit dark)...

I just want to say congrats to all of you... my little boy will be 1 next month and I cannot believe how fast this past year flew by. I remember feeling exactly like a lot of you are feeling right now - just being *so* ready and wanting to go into labor right then and there ;) but hang in there ladies, your time will come soon enough and you'll be holding your little bundles of joy, just staring at them in such awe and loving them so incredibly much that there are no words... just wanted to say congrats and enjoy those first few weeks, I look back now and just can't believe how fast it's all gone.
and like so many people told me, it really is the best thing you'll ever do!
good luck to you all :)

Vent: (this is going to be long, sorry) Ive (sorry apostrophe button doesnt work) never complained about the doctors in my practice before. As a matter of fact, i LOVE MY doctor! Shes the absolute best and is always sympathetic and patient and does what she can to make you feel better even if you are being a little irrational. Ive heard some of you complain about your doctors in the past and always thought that was the absolute WORST!
Well, tonight is a different story. MY doctor told me to do kick counts and had the hospital give me a sheet on how to do them, record them, etc... The sheet says to have something to eat or drink, go to an area where you can sit or lay on your left side away from distraction and count the number of kicks you get in an hour. If you do not reach 10 in the first hour then wait an additional hour and if you still dont get 10 kicks then to call your doctor. So, i ate dinner and drank a glass of apple juice and laid down to do the kick counts because i hadnt had much movement today. In the first hour i got to 4 so i ate a popsicle and waited another hour. During the second hour i counted 5. Well, i didnt get 10 kicks in either hour and didnt even get 10 accumulative kicks so, i called the exchange because im worried, obviously. The other doctor in the practice called back and said he doesnt believe in kick counts and if i got to 5 then everything is fine. If im still nervous in the morning i should call the office. Yeah, well, thanks, asshole... if i was nervous enough to call the medical exchange on a Sunday night do you really think im interested in waiting until the morning to call the office?!
So now im nervous and pissed off! I liked this doctor up until tonight. I never really cared for how he brushed things off but i know i can overreact sometimes and occasionally its okay to have a doctor tell me that things are fine. But in this case i have my doctor telling me one thing and then the other doctor in the practice telling me another. I just want to scream!!
At this point if i went into labor and he was the doctor on call id seriously consider asking for the ob on call at the hospital instead. The entire phone call with the doctor lasted all of 2 minutes and he wasnt even compasionate about it. Its fine if he thinks 9 food induced kicks in 2 hours is fine but he didnt present it in a way that made me feel any better. As a matter of fact i hung up and cried instead of feeling reassured. My doctor never wouldve blown me off like this and im annoyed, aggrivated, and just plain mad at this point. I dont want anything to do with this other doctor and dont care to deal with him again. Am i being unreasonable? Is it crazy to expect a certain level of concern when you call your doctor?
All i can say is that i hope he is right and the baby is fine because he will be the first to hear about it if something is wrong!
UGH. Sorry for the rant. The baby actually feels like hes moving more now that ive had an emotional breakdown but i really think thats besides the point.
ETA: i hate male obs... i havent met one i like yet. Its not like i just did the kick counts for fun... my doctor told me to do them and when ive gotten to more than 50+ kicks in 20 minutes following a meal before to only get to 9 in 2 hours makes me nervous. I know im being overly emotional, im sorry. I honestly just want this baby born so i can stop worrying about every little pain. Ive had enough at this point and just want it over with!

Lilla~ you did an amazing job on the nursery. Beautiful! :)
Thanks doubleR! It is true, though having patience right now is really hard when you are so darn uncomfortable. :p
ellidew~ I know what you mean about some docs not being helpful or reassuring. It sux. Give your regular OB a call in the morning and share your concerns about movement, EVEN IF Miles has kicked more. Ask her what you should do in the future and explain Dr. X didn't share your worries or her phylosophy. She may just say, go to the L & D next time. That is what my OB's practice has told me, now that I am in the final month and they do not have the right equipment for a NST. Good luck!

ellidew ~ {{{hugs}}}!! I would have been very irritated, too. I agree with neenbean that you should call your regular OB this morning and tell her your concerns. FWIW my practice was all females and I had to call quite a few times when I was PG with DD. Everytime they had me to go L&D (3-4 times I think) and they never once made me feel like my concerns weren't valid. They have hired 1 male OB since then and I've seen him a few times... not really enough to have too much of an opinion now. Anyway, my point is NO doctor, male or female, should make you feel like your concerns aren't valid. You're right, he could've phrased it in a different way or been more compassionate. It sounds like Miles started kicking more after that incident with the doc, so that's good. I'd still call you OB though. Doctors are there to provide a service - just like any other service industry and if you don't receive good service, then you have every right to complain.
Hi, my name is Lisa and I am a grumpy grumperson. I'm not real sure how my DH put up with me last night.
Count me in on this group. I was such a stark raving lunatic last night that when I went into the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth I looked in the mirror and barely recognized myself. :o These hormones suck big time.
Oh yeah, and obviously no baby here. :)
I'm still here and pregnant. :D I'm okay with waiting two more weeks and I'm sure the early November mamas are MUCH more anxious than me at this point.
Ellidew: Sorry to hear about your doctor's experience over the weekend. I have a female OB but I can imagine how frustrating it would be to have your concerns brushed off like that. I agree with Neenbean that you should call your regular OB this morning to let her know what happened and to express your concerns.
Congrats Lydia!!
Lilla: Your nursery looks great. Everything is so well coordinated and has a nice 'clean' look to it. Great job! :)
----------------------------------
I can't believe it's Monday again and the weekend is over. It went by so fast! I had a great time at the baby shower on Saturday night and it was so much fun to tell people that I'm due 'next month' since it sounds so close! (well, it is close but it feels like the days are just dragging). The mom-to-be is also having a little boy so she got a ton of blue/sport themed outfits like we did, which was funny. I never realized how much blue clothing a baby boy gets!
On Sunday we took a breastfeeding class and hospital tour. I'm really glad my DH came to the breastfeeding class (there were a ton of other husbands there too) because he didn't really know a lot about breastfeeding and I know I'll need his support. The hospital tour was pretty informative too. At one point, the nurse 'tour guide' was asking when everyone was due and most women were due in either November, December or January. Well, one couple was there and weren't due until May!!! :eek: I thought that was pretty funny. I mean, talk about taking classes EARLY! haha.
The rest of the day was spent running errands, which was great but I was so exhausted by the end of the day. Thankfully I'll be able to relax more in the coming weekends.

Still here and still very pregnant! I was really hoping that something would happen this weekend, but I got nothing. DH keeps joking that Corbin is waiting until after the World Series is over. ;)
I'm *really* glad that this is my last week of work--that's about the only thing keeping me going right now. I'm down to limited work-friendly maternity wear--I can't wait for next week--warm ups and sweats!
lilo-beautiful nursery! That's similar to what I would have done if Corbin was a girl.

Still pregnant This coming Sunday marks week 37. I can't wait. I already spoke to DD#2 that after Sunday, it is time for her to get a move-on.
ellidwITA with what everyone said here. I don't have any movement issues with DD#2, but around this time last time, I casually mentioned during my regular appt that the baby didn't seem to be moving as much and I was immediately sent up to L&D for monitoring and u/s. Talk to your regular OB and let her know your experience. Maybe they should talk amongst themself and figure out what they should be telling you.
Grumpy would be a Nice way of putting it I have been so snippy that I really have been trying to bite my tongue before I speak. It doesn't work half the time.
SO.TIRED I have been feeling so tired and achy which does not help the whole grumpy thing either. I am having a lot of b*tt pain since yesterday.

I'm still pregnant too, but that's really no surprise, as I still have over a month to go!
ellidew - I'm sorry about your bad experience with that OB! I hope your regular OB is able to put you at ease today!
Sinclair319 - I'm so jealous you're in your last week of work! I just had to buy a new pair of work pants to carry me these last 5 weeks (less than that!) since my maternity pants I've been wearing all along are getting a wee bit tight. I wish I was in sweats right now!
grumpy- yup, count me in. I'm trying not to complain too much, since I've realized I've been complaining a LOT, even long after my ailments have gone away...

Ellidew ~ I agree with everyone else that you should call your OB.
Sinclair ~ I was really thinking that it would’ve been you this weekend. The warm ups and sweats are the best. I live in mine. LoL
Count me in the grumpy category. Let’s just say that DH will be extremely happy when this baby is out and I return to normal. It seems to be getting worse with each passing day. Then again if I wasn't having so many pains I wouldn't be so darn grumpy.
So it looks like Kyrsten is next. :D

Okay, maybe this is a stupid question, but I didn't know the umblicial cord pulses (I noticed that catgirl put "I would prefer that the umbilical cord stop pulsating before it is cut" in her birth plan).
Can someone enlighten me on this? Our child birth educator just told us that there are no nerve endings in the cord, so it's not painful to cut.

Still here, still pregnant. Didn’t give birth over the weekend as far as I know.
Catgirl~ I’m sorry to hear about your sciatica/pelvic girdle pain. I’ve had sciatica off and on, but it’s been a few weeks since the last bout of it (knock on wood). I understand how painful it can be, I couldn’t walk or anything until it passed. I’m hoping you get relief from both soon!!
Lydia~ Welcome home! Can’t wait to hear how things are going!!
Krysten~ Sorry to hear that you’re having sciatica too…I’m really hoping mine doesn’t come back, it’s been a few weeks since the last time I had it.
Lilla~ Yay for maternity leave! Your nursery looks fantastic! I love the butterflies on the window sheers, oh it looks so cute!! Everything looks so good together, you guys did a great job on it!
Ellidew~ Well that just sucks about being brushed off by the other doctor last night! Obviously he should have realized you were a bit worried about the decrease in movements and said something a bit more reassuring other than that “I don’t believe in kick counts” BS.
Lisainpink~ I’ve become quite the grumpsters myself. Hubby said something I didn’t like on the phone Friday night so I hung up on him. He called right back so I powered my cell phone off. He tried calling on the home phone and I got up to unplug it. How rude of me, huh? LOL!
Lilo~ I can’t believe the weekend is over either, but I feel like a lot was accomplished during the weekend. It is exciting telling people “next month” when they ask when you’re due. And to think that “next month” is actually starting next week, wow!! That’s too funny about the one couple in your BFing class being due in May. At least they’ll be prepared I guess, but hopefully they’ll actually remember what they learned 6 months from now.
Sinclair~ Whoohoo for this being the last week of work for you!!
Franni~ I’ve been super achy too, my hips/pelvis have been very sore and achy all weekend whether I’m sitting, standing or walking. I’ve been trying to do my yoga stretches to ease up the achiness, but it’s not helping. I’ve been limping around like an 80-yo woman for the last few days.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We actually got A LOT accomplished over the weekend! DH left work on Saturday "sick"~he had a really bad sore throat. After getting in to a walk-in medical center to be seen by a doc and get a prescription (it's not strep, so that's good) he felt well enough to announce that we should go to BRU and get the rest of the baby stuff we needed.
We got just about everything, excepting a few minor things (like a cover for the changing table pad, an activity mat, and a few BF pump accessories that I had to order online).
Then he called up my bro and he and his wife came over a few hours later to help move the dressers from the garage into the nursery. We spend the evening continuing to get the nursery ready, as well as putting a few things together (like the baby papasan chair, etc.).
Without further ado, here's how our nursery is looking (it's at least 90% done-just needs minor finishing touches/organization):
Last night I started going thru a couple bags of clothes we've received as gifts and have one large laundry basked overflowing with stuff that I cut tags off that now needs to be washed. There's still a large gift bag packed with blankets and clothes that I haven't even gotten to yet~when I say large, I mean the bag itself is at least 3 feet tall. One of those HUGE ones that can fit a ton of stuff.
My goal this week is to get all the clothes washed and put away and take stock to see if we need anything else~ like booties for instance. Also plan on having my hospital bag 75% packed by tomorrow, as on Saturday my BFF is accompanying me to get the remaining items (nursing bra, maxi pads, etc) that I don't have yet for both the hospital bag and for baby.
Still here and still pregnant. At my dr appt on Friday, she told me my cervix was closed up tight. I was really hoping to hear that I was showing some progress. I'm super uncomfortable and grumpy. I go to the hospital on Wednesday for an ultrasound to measure the size of the baby (she's concerned about it being big) and then Thursday back to the doctor for another internal.
Is anyone else working up until they give birth? How are you doing? I wish I had some set date to look forward to when I am stopping work. I am starting to rethink this plan - the commute is really wearing me out.
I'll be back with SO's but i wanted to say... THANK YOU for not making me feel like i was crazy for being really upset last night. It helped to hear that.
This morning when i woke up i said i'd give this kid until noon to get going before i called the doctor. I ate breakfast (drank 2 cups of apple juice, 2 pieces of toast with butter, and 1 fruit leather/strip) and still barely got 2 kicks. When i got to work at 10:30 i waited until 11:00 and ate some pasta for lunch and drank a coke thinking FOR SURE that would get him going but still haven't felt much of anything. A few gentle pings and feeling him push out once or twice but that's it. Nothing like i was getting even as early as Friday. Movements slowed down on Saturday and were even less on Sunday.
I just left a message at the doctors office to have MY doctor call me and i told the woman who took the message that my doctor had told me one thing and the other doctor told me something different and i really just need a clarification on WHEN to call.
I felt so stupid last night after i hung up with the other doctor. I hope that my doctor will be able to reassure me to some degree or at least make a suggestion. The moron last night told me to drink some juice and lay down and that was AFTER i told him that i had eaten dinner and drank some juice and after an hour and few movements ate a popsicle.
Dh tried to make me feel better and said that his philosophy is obviously if the baby is moving at all that he is fine. My argument to that was, well, when do you call then, after you haven't had any movement for 6 hours? 24 hours? Isn't it too late then if the baby is in distress?
I know dh understands. I've said it before but his cousin lost their baby at full term and it scares the hell out of me. I just think that going from 50+ kicks in a 20-30 minute period following a meal to less than 10 in 2 hours following a meal constitutes decreased fetal movement.
Sorry for the rant again. What happened last night still rubs me the wrong way and i'm still very angry and upset by it. I'll keep you all posted on when the doctor calls. 90% of me says that everything is fine (and statistically i'm sure everything is) and maybe the baby is just positioned differently but the other 10% is scared to death that something is wrong.
No baby here! Although I've been having marathon BH contractions and can see how it'd be so easy to think that I'm in early labor. They literally take my breath away sometimes, though the actual contractions are not painful. Another month of this is going to be a lot to deal with...
Breech update - I have an ultrasound this afternoon to check the position of the babe. He moved around a lot this weekend so I have no idea what his exact position is. It is certainly different than what it was before, so that gives me hope that perhaps he has turned. If he's still breech, they'll schedule me for a version for later this week. As a side note, I checked off the last thing on my long list of ways to get the baby to turn on his own - headstands in a warm pool. DH and I went to the gym during family hour and did headstands while the lifeguard looked at us like we were crazy. :D
lilla & rancid - love your nurseries! Not only is the design/furniture super cute, but you both look so organized!
ellidew - Boo to the unsensitive doctor! I think you've already received some good advice on what to do, but just wanted to add my support for you being ticked off.
lisainpink - My official name a few weeks ago was "Cranky McCrankypants". :rolleyes: I'm happy to say that my mood has much improved since being done with work. Not sure what your work status is, but can you at least look forward to less stress in the near future?
poor sleep - After 4 nights in a row of really bad sleep I realized I hadn't been doing my nightly hypnosis session (I'm studying Hypnobabies for birth). After starting it back up again I've now had 3 nights of decent sleep again. Just wanted to suggest to the ladies who aren't sleeping well that you could try some sort of relaxation in the evening (yoga, meditation, bath & hot tea) and maybe that would help you as well?
Is anyone else working up until they give birth? How are you doing? I wish I had some set date to look forward to when I am stopping work. I am starting to rethink this plan - the commute is really wearing me out.
That's what my plan is...my boss and I decided to see how I felt as my due date approaches, and alter my work schedule accordingly. I told him that most likely, when we take off for the Thanksgiving holiday, I just won't come back until after my maternity leave (this is assuming I don't go into labor 2 or more weeks early). So far I'm fine, save for the commute which is still tolerable but like you said, tiring. :)
Congrats Lydia and a BIG welcome to Mason!!!!
I'm sick with a cold so not many SO's today.....
Lilla & Rancid13 Wow! Lovely rooms ladies. :) They look fantastic! Some real motivation to get ours put together, finally.
A sorry to all who are feeling so ready to be done. I hope labor finds you soon.
_______________________________________________
I am just wanting this cold to go away....I still have a ton to do and I just don't have the energy right now. Plus, I am getting no sleep due to the belly/plugged up nose combo.
My 36 week apt was yesterday and everything was fine except my blood pressure was on the higher end of normal, which is quite high for me. She is having me come back in tomorrow to re-test it. I am hoping it is just my cold messing with my system as I have had no swelling, protein, vision probs or headaches. Guess we'll find out tomorrow. Baby is 3/5ths into my pelvis and the midwife said that he/she will probably stay that way as it is my first baby.
There was a QOTD about Being sad about the end of the pregnancy Right now I feel sad when I think about not being pregnant anymore. I really am gonna miss all the little kicks but I've been told that there is nothing like actually holding your baby in your arms. Ask me again in two weeks and I'm sure I'll have changed my mind ;)
Is anyone else working up until they give birth?
Yes and no ;) I am still working but this week and next i have decreased my hours by 2 a day, except on Thursdays i'll still be working my usual 9 hours. It doesn't seem like much but it's those extra 2 hours to sleep in or 2 hours to lounge around and do nothing that may be my saving grace. I'm due the 7th and decided i wont work starting that Monday the 6th. My original plan was to work until i gave birth but the closer it gets and the more uncomfortable i get the more i just want to sit around the house in my pj's and do nothing. With the exception of just wanting this child to be born i kind of hope to go a few days after my due date so i have a few days to just sit around the house alone in the peace and quiet.
Decreased movement? I am having this worry myself, actually. I drank a VERY large soda at the movies last night and have had a decent amount of sweet stuff (frosted mini wheat cereal, DD's fruit snacks) today and I have barely felt the baby move. An occasional nudge, but seriously, it is way less than normal.
I hate to be an over-reactive patient, but should I be worried?
I heard back from my doctors office and she said that the 10 kicks in 2 hours (9 in my case) was okay and that the baby takes up so much space at this point that he's just not always going to be able to move as much. If it happens again and i don't get to 10 in 2 hours then i should just go to labor and delivery at the hospital to be monitored.
The nurse that called back to relay the message said the same thing happened to her and that she was just all baby and that there were days when she barely felt her baby move at all.
I feel a little bit better about it. Really it just helps to have someone tell you the same thing in a way that doesn't make you feel like a complete moron! The nurse said 'both doctors are right in essence' but she said it in a way that lead me to believe that maybe she has run into this before with the other doctor, if that makes sense.
I feel better though and i'm glad i got an answer from my doctor whom i trust and respect. I've felt the baby move a little bit more so that helps a lot. Maybe because i'm relieved and not completely stressed out and worried! I'm going to be more than overjoyed once this baby is born.
neenbean- My new rule to follow is apparently 10 kicks in 2 hours. I find it easiest to sit down and relax with no distraction so i can catch even the tiny little kicks. If you don't get to 10 or you continue to worry then call your doctor. Hopefully yours is more in tuned to your worry and will offer a little reassurance... i know that's all i was looking for! I went from so much movement over the last 2-3 weeks to next to nothing and that's why i was worried too. It helped to have the nurse say she had experienced the same thing!
lilo ~ Glad the tour and class went well. I think it's cool when DH's go to the BFing class... they need to know stuff, too! :)
Franni ~ I'm sorry to hear about your aches/pains, too. The butt pain is the worst, isn't it? I hope your body gives you some relief soon - mine seems to come and go every few days.
Sinclair ~ The web site that Franni posted is perfect - exactly why we're leaving it attached.
Rancid ~ The nursery looks awesome!! I love the way the waves turned out - better than in the "example" pics you posted. Very good job! Do I see some Rudolph characters in there - Abdominable and Rudolph? I absolutely love that caroon. It's my favorite Christmas one of all time. I used to call DD "Bumble" when she was little. :)
ellidew ~ I'm glad you called your OB. Looking forward to hearing what she has to say about all of this. ETA: Oops... we cross-posted. So glad you feel better!! You're right, sometimes just hearing it is all you need.
CityGirl ~ Fingers crossed that your little one isn't breech anymore. Looking forward to hearing about your u/s. Thanks for the hypno/relaxing info - that's a great idea for relaxation in the evening. I'm going to have to try that tonight.
Peaches ~ I hope you kick your cold soon. Tis the season, huh?!
neenbean - decreased movement ~ Here are my thoughts... decreased movement can be caused by several things: (1) baby has less room to move so you feel more dragging type feelings than kicks; (2) they say that a few days before you go into labor the baby moves less to store up energy (IIRC your EDD is later in Nov. though, right?); (3) baby could be facing inward and kicking toward your back instead of outward toward your belly; OR (4) there could be something wrong with the baby. I think being worried about decreased movements is completely normal and valid and I wouldn't hesitate to call my OB about it - that's what they're there for. I know my OB's office takes it very seriously and really all they have to do to check is hook you up to an NST machine. If I were in your shoes, I'd call - not b/c I think there's something wrong with your baby, but b/c it's something they tell you to watch for in 3rd tri and I think your concerns are valid.
Today we went to the BFing group I've been going to since DD was born. We haven't been in awhile b/c I've had OB appts on Mondays for some reason. It was nice to see everyone again and get to talk about possibly tandem nursing, which I'm really excited about. I feel bad that DD's "nummies" dried up on her. I also talked with the LC, who I've become friends with, about my sad/depressive feelings (she had PPD with DC2). Our hospital has a PPD hotline and she knows the lady who runs it so she gave me her #. I'm going to call her when DH gets home. I feel great today, but I'd like to at least throw it out there that I've had mood swings and am worried about PPD. After reading Brooke Shields' story... I don't ever want to get to that point!!
Okay, too funny... Devin just kicked so hard that my laptop literally moved!!!! Guess he wants me to stop typing now.
Okay, too funny... Devin just kicked so hard that my laptop literally moved!!!! Guess he wants me to stop typing now.
That is sweet! Your lil' man already knows what is he wants. ;) Thanks for the reassuring about the movement. I going to go drink some juice and lay on the couch. Hopefully DD naps a while longer so I can focus. :) Yes, my c/s is scheduled for 11/20. So glad you talked to someone about your PPD concerns. I plan to mention something to my doc at my appt on Wednesday and have already told DH and my mom to be on the lookout. Kind of scary, but worth it if there is a real problem.
ellidew~ I was having the same thoughts yesterday while I was sitting in the movie theater. DC has moved a LOT during this pregnancy, but there are days when movement is decreased TREMENDOUSLY! I get worried and then sit down and do a kick count. Fortunately, it usually happens that DC kicks a lot when I am having those thoughts. However, at the movies, baby barely moved, despite drinking a HUGE amount of Sierra Mist. :o
I’ve been super achy too, my hips/pelvis have been very sore and achy all weekend whether I’m sitting, standing or walking. I’ve been trying to do my yoga stretches to ease up the achiness, but it’s not helping. I’ve been limping around like an 80-yo woman for the last few days.
Rancid: I'm so glad you posted this! My pelvis has been super sore too for about 3 days now, especially when I'm walking. I thought I somehow 'bruised' it the last time I was doing the recline bike at the gym (on Friday) but maybe it's a 'normal' pregnancy symptom. I thought I would give it a couple of days before asking the OB about it. Do you think it's our babies pressing down?
And your nursery looks gorgeous! The colors match perfectly with the bedding set. Great job!
lilo, rancid I feel a little better than I am not the only who needs a walker. LOL. Now the baby's new thing seems to be kicking my right hip bone. The doctor said that it is because she is lying on her side. They really hurt this time.
baby movement I know this is totally in my head but whenever I feel that there is less movement, I would do the normal things (drink a sweet beverage or soda, lie on my left side), but I would also start "bothering" her. I would poke her, talk to her. It would work sometimes.
Okay, I have a lot to post. I actually backtracked to the previous thread and caught up. I am going to do shout outs first...
Congratulations, Lydia!!! Mason is so adorable and I am glad you are able to feel better now. Hope to see you soon, darlin’!
Congratulations roberta!!! Wesley is perfect!! You did a great job.
Congratulations katnbug!!! Welcome Hilary Ann!! Thanks for sharing your birth story. A beautiful baby!
Congratulations, nic!!! Welcome Christian Douglas!!
kadee – If I did not have tons of paper and stuff around my house already, I doubt I would be scrapbooking either. I want to thank you for doing such a great job keeping the thread updated. I am sure it takes a lot of work!
lilo – I am with you. I will be cool with my pregnancy being done too.
rancid – I can completely relate with you regarding the drum set. My husband has a pet snake. This snake has lived for friggin ever! It is not so much the reptile that bothers me but the very precious space that the large tank takes up!! I consider myself an animal lover, but it would make my life easier if the snake would age and leave our world for the next one. Right now, his tank is in the room that will be the nursery. This is NOT where it is going to stay! Great shower pics and you look great in your belly shots. The nursery rocks! It really does.
bijouparvin – okay, what is up with your previous icon? You may feel big but you look fantastic, especially in the photos your SIL took. Wonderful!
catgirl – my minor concern is whether kids are not invited to the Bahamas wedding. Now that would be interesting. I just read about the heart rate scare. I hope, as I read on, that you say that things are okay! How frightening!!!
rubbersoul – I am with you in regards that I have not done a wedding album either. I just cannot find the need to spend the money right now. You look great in your belly shots. You and I are kind of carrying the same, I think. Your nursery looks incredible. The wall color is great! Thanks so much for asking about me! I guess I just have been busy at work and have not been able to get over here. Time got away from me!
brio – you should post some scrapbooking pages here. I would like to see them. I do not think you are being paranoid at all. I think you have every reason to be very weary of an early delivery. Thanks for asking about me. Very, very sweet! I am sorry you are having difficult final weeks of pregnancy. We are all almost done. What a blessing!
roberta – it is funny you say that about the child birth classes because I totally agree. I am still a bit intimidated in the unknown but it really did shed light on a lot of things.
arcane – it would be cool to see of your scrapbooking pages. Sorry the church is being tough with you. I grew up Catholic and now I am atheist. Thank you, Catholicism.
kyrsten – oh my god, no kidding. I guess it is really true what they say about modesty going out the window. Those women, of all shapes and sizes, just do not care about everyone seeing their ENTIRE body. Although, I gotta tell ya that you look great in your belly shot.
bethirish – I hear you. I had a shower that my girlfriends threw for me. It was so lovely and intimate. There were 8-9 nine people there and I came home with tons of stuff!!! I cannot imagine what the family one is going to be like that my mom is putting together.
peaches – I think that is so cool that your birthing class has a reunion!
franni – good advice about prepping loved ones about postpartum depression. I have a history of it myself and was hoping that awareness would keep me, well…. Aware. I should talk to my husband about it regardless. Thanks for the heads up. I am sorry that the tour of your hosp was depressing. I hear you – I could not share a room with another woman in labor! It would be very distracting. Where did you deliver previously? Where is the hosp you described?
citygirl – I cannot believe how fantastic you look in that bikini photo! Do you in laws live in Kauai? Mine do. Have we chatted about this before? Forgive me if we have ;)
ellidew – your shower sounds so cool and your nursery is gorgeous! I am so envious because I have not set one up yet. I hear that new tickle me Elmo is hysterical. You look GREAT in your belly shots! :D I am with you regarding birth plan. I am not giving it that much thought. I do not want to set up any expectations. My goal is to stay as calm and strong as possible and go from there. By the way, your commentary on the Cards in the World Series is cracking me up. I am not a baseball fan but I am from Boston so I do understand the “hype” and excitement that comes with the home team winning the World Series! ;)
sinclair – I am totally there with you in regards to having the baby’s backside stuck in my ribs. It hurts sometimes. I have to say, you look great in the belly shots you took and I really like the sepia tone pro photo. Not a stretch mark on you, eh? Your husband is a cutie and good news that he does not need surgery! Who is your LJ friend that knows Lydia? I hang with Lydia sometimes and we are in a circle of friends. I wonder if you and I are friends with the same person.
nic – I am with you. My ankles are enormous! I only have one or two pairs of shoes that even fit me. I have to wear something that slips on and that does not surround my foot, like a flip flop type of shoe.
ppwgal – that would have pissed me off!! Actually, I had a similar “judging” from a stranger when I made myself a coffee with caffeine in it. I, like you, allow myself a coffee a day. People can go screw!
mayhem – I dare say that you have the most perfect round belly I have ever seen.
lilla – your fall sounds scary. I bet you instinctually protected your belly but letting other body parts take the hit. You probably did not even know you did it. Funny story – I was at my baby shower and the cake was being served. A small child, about 5, picked up a sharp knife for just one second before her mother told her to put it down. In that time, I subconsciously covered my belly with my arms. It is just funny how do that. Sorry you got hurt! The nursery is gorgeous…. Just gorgeous!
lizzie beth – clever pop corn analogy :D
Sorry I disappeared ladies! Like a lot of you, I have my days of serious crabbiness! I snapped at my husband because he was not finding the exact spot on my back that needed to be scratched. It was jokingly and thank goodness he has a sense of humor! Sinclair, your comment about being VP cracked me up! :)
As much as I would like to go early at this point due to discomfort, I would like to predict I will give birth on my due date (11/9). Any sooner and my in laws would miss it! They are flying in on that day.
packing bag for hospital – I guess I should do this. We received our diaper bag, which is a backpack. That may be a great bag to use. katnbug, thanks for the heads up to get it done! :D
When is everyone stopping work? – I am going to work up until the very end, I think. I want to save all my time for the maternity leave.
Is anyone else eating really badly? – I have my share of daily sugar intake. Let us put it that way.
food consumption – it is nice to know that I am not alone regarding a complete lack of self control! It is like food will be popped into my mouth before I consider not eating. Mini reese’s PB cups? I cannot get enough of them! This may be a delicate question, but has anyone out there, besides me, smoked pot? I used to many years ago and the munchies feel kind of the same way. Food is just so heavenly… so heavenly!
Have any of you developed a sensitivity to smells? – yes, it is like I am in my first trimester again! I get overpowered by the smell of what my husband ate hours earlier when I get near him.
Is anyone else sad that their pregnancy is coming to an end? – I am with lilo on this one. I do feel grateful that I was able to get pregnant and to carry a healthy baby, but I am ready for it to be over and I am looking forward to being a parent. I am also scared of L&D but also kind of excited to have it happen.
My question of the day:
Does anyone’s belly skin hurt? I have a section at the top of my belly that will randomly just hurt, like I am getting a rub burn or something.
Franni
working I am working until this baby is coming. That's what I did the last time. It is a pain though for my boss because he doesn't have a definite time frame, but instead have to work within a 2 week range. Oh well....
belly skin I have noticed that in the last 2 weeks, my belly skin has become really dry and flaky looking. This is despite a constant cocoa butter rub. I do get a bit of burning sensation occasionally, but I think it has more to do with my clothes being tight. Even my maternity stuff is tight on me now, but I REFUSE to buy anything that I will only be able to wear for the next few weeks.
Target cheeap nursing stuff Just wanted to send an FYI to the newbies. I just went to Target to stock up on some nursing bras and camisoles. They have always been reasonably priced and they are very good quality. The camisole (or tank) is about $17 and a bra can range from $12-16.
mermccau--good to see a post from you! Kami is my LJ friend--do you know her too?
Is anyone else sad that their pregnancy is coming to an end? – I am with so many of you on this. We went through an almost 2 year battle with infertility, and I am so grateful that I've been able to carry this healthy baby to term, but at the same time, I'm so excited to meet him! I can't wait to see him, kiss him, BF him, love on him. I feel like I've succeded in the pregnancy thing and now I'm ready to move on to the next phase--motherhood. I know this sounds strange, but I'm looking forward to labor because I know I'll get to meet my son at the end.
Ellidew~ That’s great news what your doctor told you! What a relief that must have been, and to get that reassurance from the nurse too. I’m very happy to hear that all appears well, perhaps Miles tuckered himself out in the days prior to the kick-count day, because I’ve noticed that my little guy can be quite active for a couple days straight, then the third day hardly moves around at all. Then the cycle begins again the day after, as if he needed to rest up for a day or something to get his energy back up.:confused:
Catgirl~ Thanks! Hubby was going to try to copy the waves in the example pictures, but we decided they looked odd and I told him to go ahead and do the waves however he wanted to, so he freehanded them and it turned out quite nice. Yep, those are Rudolph characters you see hanging out in the nursery; there’s a Santa too, but he was sitting in the closet and I closed the doors for the pictures. I saw them for $6.95 each in the ABCDistributing catalog and decided I had to have them, especially the Abominable Snowman b/c he’s the cutest.:)
Rancid: I'm so glad you posted this! My pelvis has been super sore too for about 3 days now, especially when I'm walking. I thought I somehow 'bruised' it the last time I was doing the recline bike at the gym (on Friday) but maybe it's a 'normal' pregnancy symptom. I thought I would give it a couple of days before asking the OB about it. Do you think it's our babies pressing down?
And your nursery looks gorgeous! The colors match perfectly with the bedding set. Great job!
I’m pretty sure it’s the babies and the low position they’re in. I know mine is head down and at my last NST the nurse said that he was even lower than he was before, and it’s just been in the last week or so that I’ve been feeling those aches/pains in the whole pelvic region (hips included). There’s no baby at all in the 4-5 inches just below my breasts, down much lower than that and I sure am feeling it. I was reading in my Pregnancy Week by Week book that it’s not uncommon as you enter the last month or so of pregnancy for the baby’s position to put a lot of pressure in that region, but that it at least frees up your lungs, making it easier to breathe than it may have been before, so that’s nice. Thanks for the compliments! My mom picked out the paint swatches based on the bedding colors, and from those I picked 2 greens and 2 blues that I thought looked good together and SIL took them to Home Depot and decided on the final shades that we’d use.
Mermccau~ It’s nice to have you back and posting again! :D I totally understand about the snake. I grew up with a little brother who had a thing for reptiles (he still does) so I totally understand about liking the snake but not liking how much room he takes up. Maybe he’ll make his transition into the next world in the very near future, that way it’ll clear up some space for you guys. And hopefully your DH won’t be too bummed about it, as he’s had the pet for quite a long time it sounds like. Thanks for the compliments!:D
Does anyone’s belly skin hurt? I have a section at the top of my belly that will randomly just hurt, like I am getting a rub burn or something. YES! Sometimes I’ll get a random pinching feeling, almost like I’m being bitten by a bug, but when I look, nothing is there. It’s very odd and it happens when there isn’t any clothing rubbing that area so I know it’s not because of a too-tight waistband or what have you. Then it goes away and later happens on another area of my belly/waist.
Franni~ Thanks for the heads up on the Target nursing stuff! I'm getting my hospital bag together this week and a nursing bra and tank are on my list of things to buy and I was clueless as to where to get either one, now I can get those and some travel-sized toiletries in one place. Are they in the maternity section, or lingerie? (So I don't walk around lost/confused for any longer than is necessary):o
Sorry for the fly-by - had my 35 week appointment today which included the GBS test and an internal. I'm 2cm dilated and my cervix is soft - the doctor said she felt Matthew's head, so good to know there's one there. :p My next appointment is 10/30.
sinclair - Kami?? Are you kidding? I adore her! She is a sweetheart. I am in a SAB (Stitch and Bitch) group with her. I do not get to see those girls that much because I work my second job when they mostly meet but I hope to see them more now that I quit that job. :D
rancid - thanks! It is great to be back :D
What is new…
▪ I had 5 baby showers! Five! It was so touching and generous of everyone. We got a lot of stuff and everyone was just so over the top sweet. I could not believe it.
▪ Some of the gifts ended up at my parents house. One night, I was there and loaded up my car with some things (tummy time mat, mobile, blanket, etc) and then went in to eat dinner with my family. A couple of hours later, I went to leave with more stuff and noticed stuff gone and thrown around. Someone broke into my car and actually stole baby stuff! What the hell?? It is all replacable and almost laughable – I mean, who steals a baby mobile and a wipes warmer???? My parents live in a neighborhood too. It is not exactly a tough area. I felt silly calling the police but I wanted to just in case this person (or group) was breaking into other cars in the area.
▪ I was playing with a manual pump that I have to get a feeling of what it is like. To my surprise, after a few pumps, both nipples responded with droplets of colostrums. I was pretty shocked!
▪ My sister sent a link to me for strips to test the amount of alchol in your breast milk. Pretty funny and pretty intringuing. I think I may give them a try. www.milkscreen.com
▪ Still no nursery yet. We are still in housing limbo. We have until Nov 1st to sell our condo or the house we have under agreement goes back on the market. At that point, we may decide to take the condo off the market and work at making it home again. At this point, I find the whole thing VERY frustrating, as you can imagine. When Connor arrives, he is going to be sleeping in a bassinet (not a bad thing) but his clothes will be stored in a plastic bin and that same bin will be his damn changing table. We just do not want to set everything up if we are going to be moving.
▪ I was sent to the hosp the other night for a stress test. I was at my regular dr appointment and my bp was unusually high. My feet are also really swollen. It was kind of nice. I was lying in the hospital bed reading and napping. I had the contraction and the baby monitor hooked up to me. I got to hear heartbeat and hiccups and the nurse told me that I was having regular small contractions. The blood work came back great. I am really looking forward to having a good experience with this hosp. I felt so relaxed and in good hands there.
So, that is what is new and now I am totally caught up!!! :D
Neenbean- I hear ya. I drank 2 cups of apple juice AND ate dinner and then an hour later had a popsicle and still just a few measly kicks. Call your doctor for reassurance. I felt better this morning after talking to my doctor, not that moron last night! On the upside, I should sleep well tonight since I barely slept a wink last night ;) lol.
Catgirl- good for you seeking out PPD help ahead of time. I have a fear of getting PPD and have warned dh to be on the look out and that no matter how much I say ‘i’m fine’ if he thinks something is wrong then he needs to call someone. I wouldn’t mind my decreased movement meaning the baby is storing energy for delivery in a couple of days! Lol. Anytime now baby, anytime!
Peaches- I hope you get some cold relief soon. That has to be the pits. I have the sniffles today that I hope don’t develop into something more. I hope your blood pressure goes down, good luck at your appt tomorrow.
Citygirl- I hope your baby did a flip!! Can’t wait to hear! Good luck! Good thinking on the headstands… I wish I had a warm pool to swim in. The lifeguard probably thought you were both nuts! Lol. Good for you!
Ppwgal- Sorry that there isn’t any progress to speak of. I was a little disappointed that I was still stuck at 1 fingertip dilated! I’m uncomfortable and grumpy too and just getting plain anxious. Good luck at your ultrasound and I hope you get to good progress news at your Thursday appt. My ob is doing an u/s to measure on Friday for the same reason. I don’t know why she thinks he’s a big baby I only measured ahead once and other than that I’ve been right on the mark. Why does yours think your baby is big?
Rancid- Holy Moly girl! You got tons done this weekend and that nursery of yours looks incredible! I hope you are in love with it because it’s adorable! I LOVE the switch plate you put up! It’s really amazing to finally see it nearly complete after talking about it for so long. I LOVE it! Good luck with your other ‘projects’! Going through all that stuff and cutting tags off, washing, etc… was a pita!
It was a relief to talk to my doctor but mostly to feel the baby start moving a little bit more… at least movements that I didn’t have to concentrate to feel!
Mayham- Hope the next month flies by for you!
Sinclair- I’d laugh if we both went into labor right after the world series. Dh is hoping ours holds out for afterwards as well though I keep telling him that it would give us something to do while we are there ;) Hope you have an easy last week of work. I wish I could say the same but I have to get through this week and next before I can call it quits. I hear ya on cloths… I’m wearing sweat pants and t shirts and tennis shoes to work… the sad part is I only have 1 pair of sweat pants and 2 t shirts that still fit. I refuse to buy clothes to get through 2 weeks! So, what you see is what you get.
Lilo- Not to wish time away but I’m glad the weekend is over… that means I can get on with the week, look forward to next week, get through the next work week and then hopefully have a baby! I HATE wishing time away but at this point I wish I could just fast forward! I hate to tell you that the days will continue to drag but at this point they are dragging and have been for 2 weeks! ALL baby boy clothing is BLUE! It’s so annoying. I’ve had to search out oranges, browns, yellows, etc… That’s funny about the couple due in May… they should be well prepared if they are getting this much of a head start! Glad that the hospital tour went well… I was ready to give birth right then and there at that point. I was pretty excited!!
Lilla- Your nursery is absolutely adorable! I love the colors and you did a fantastic job on it! I LOVE the pictures you have hanging on the wall. I never considered what I’d do to decorate a girls room but yours is inspirational.
Arcane- Sounds like you had a good appt! 2 cms is great!
Mermccau- WOW, it must’ve taken you a long time to catch up! It’s good to hear from you though. Sounds like we have the same birth plan! I hope your in laws are there when you have the baby! Holy baby showers! You’ve been a busy girl. That’s terrible that someone stole baby stuff out of your car. Just terrible. It is sort of laughable and hopefully the person that stole it really needed those items more than you did. Though, I don’t know what a car breaking into thug needs with a wipe warmer. I’ve been getting droplets of colostrums for weeks now and my sister had a ton the weeks leading up to her delivery. She once told me ‘my milk has already come in’ and I said ‘no it hasn’t’. She insisted that it had but later changed her story and said she never said it. I think she was embarrassed that she didn’t know it wasn’t her milk. Whatever, she’s an odd one sometimes. I hope your condo sells and you get the house. That stinks that it’s coming down to the wire. I don’t blame you for not wanting to set things up. Hopefully it all works out but if it doesn’t I’d just stick around until the spring when the housing market starts to boom again and then get out. Connor will still be young and he wont know that he doesn’t have his own room. I can relate to swollen feet. I only have 2 pairs of shoes I can squeeze on and I look forward to my feet returning to their regular size! I’m glad everything turned out normal at the hospital. It’s good that you felt so relaxed and that you were in good hands. I honestly hope for the same thing during L&D! Take care of yourself and don’t be such a stranger ;)
Franni- Where at Target were the nursing bras and camisoles? I looked at my store and didn’t see any… maybe I just missed them!
▪ I was playing with a manual pump that I have to get a feeling of what it is like. To my surprise, after a few pumps, both nipples responded with droplets of colostrums. I was pretty shocked!
LOL! I'm still awaiting the arrival of the BF pump tubing I ordered online (SIL is lending me her practically brand new Medela pump) so I can play around with it. But I have been getting some laughs by attempting 'self expressing' while in the shower and seeing stuff spray out. I know you're not really supposed to be doing much in the form of nipple stimulation as it can bring about contractions, but I figure a little squeeze here and there won't hurt anything, LOL! :o :D
That's unbelieveable that someone would break into your car and steal baby stuff! It doesn't sound the least bit silly to call the police and report it, theft is theft no matter how big or small of items they're getting away with. That just sucks! I hope they got caught!
It's good to hear that you got in for the stress test and that things are looking good. I get to go to non-stress tests twice a week, for about the last month now b/c my ob is convinced I have high bp (never mind that the pregnancy-induced hypertension tests came back normal and the highest my bp has been is 140/60 but is usually in the mid 120s over 60's when I monitor it a couple times a day at home). She goes "I'd really like to see your bp stay consistently in the 120's/60's like it was at your first in-office visit" and I replied "And I'd really like to see my weight at what it was at my first visit"...:p I made sure to point out that gaining weight (in my case, at or near 30lbs) can cause bp to go up and that was likely what's causing mine to be a little higher at times b/c I feel that it's otherwise pretty normal. I was in there on Fri and overheard a girl checking in who had been sent down b/c her bp was 177/103. Now that's high!:eek:
Target--Unfortunately Target doesn't make my size nursing bra (34FF :eek: ) but I did find some nursing tanks there. There were on a Liz Lange rack over by the regular bras. It took me some time to find because the rack faced the wall and on the other side was regular bras.
mer--how funny! I've heard Kami talk about SAB a lot and I'm so jealous that you guys have a group like that (although I haven't done anything since I've been preg) Good idea to try out the breast pump--think I might break mine out tonight. I've been able to squeeze and hand express a few drops of colostrum--I was surprised at how it truly is gold in color!
gotta run to a meeting! Hope someone's going in to labor soon! ;)
Thanks!! DH and I (and everyone who has seen it, either in person or in pictures) LOVE it!! It turned out better than I could have imagined, because I'm horrible at looking at an empty room and picturing it with paint on the walls and filled with furniture. DH did a great job painting and getting the furniture in there. The tag-cutting isn't all that bad, I pulled a huge bag of clothes/towels/blankets out of the closet while DH and I were catching up with Desperate Housewives last night and sat on the couch with a trash bag and a laundry basket and just started going through everything, taking stuff out of packaging and cutting tags off (after making sure there weren't special washing instructions of course). I made sure not to touch any of the 6+ mos clothes yet, just in case he outgrows things quicker than expected. I can't believe how many blankets and towels and onesies we got. I told DH last night that this baby has more clothes than he and I combined, and he wasn't even here to wear them yet! :eek:
I've been able to squeeze and hand express a few drops of colostrum--I was surprised at how it truly is gold in color!
How funny! Mine is totally different in color. On the nipple, it looks very clear and sometimes has a touch of white in it...when I blot it with a kleenex or tp, it has the slightest yellow tinge to it, but you really have to look to see it.
I would too! I freak out when mine is 145/70 or slightly higher. Those are the times I put the band on my other arm and run it again, and end up with something much much lower (thank gawd).
There’s no baby at all in the 4-5 inches just below my breasts, down much lower than that and I sure am feeling it.
Yup. Me too. I've been carrying low the entire pregnancy but it seems like he's even lower these days. The last time I was at the doctor's he was head down too so maybe he's even further. Lovely. ;)
I wish i could say the same. I barely have anything BUT dh fills an 7x6 walk in closet on his own! It's absolutely incredible to me how many clothes dh has. He tends to buy 'traditional' items like sweaters and polos that never go out of style. Doesn't help that he still has every fraternity t-shirt and sweatshirt either. He's going to have to start retiring some of those since they are getting rather outdated. I don't want him to be one of 'those guys'.
I've been carrying low the entire pregnancy but it seems like he's even lower these days.
I have been carrying high the entire pg which is why i've had such bad heartburn. I noticed when i went to the bathroom earlier that i couldn't see my belly button anymore and i know it was there this morning so my kiddo must be working his way lower. Meaning, his butt has always been ABOVE the belly button mark and not i think it's right at and that's why my bb has disappeared. Fine by me!!
I freak out when mine is 145/70 or slightly higher.
That's about the highest mine has ever been and that was during some sort of a panic moment like when i had to go to the ER for chest pains. I was pretty worried that day.
Ppwgal- Sorry that there isn’t any progress to speak of. I was a little disappointed that I was still stuck at 1 fingertip dilated! I’m uncomfortable and grumpy too and just getting plain anxious. Good luck at your ultrasound and I hope you get to good progress news at your Thursday appt. My ob is doing an u/s to measure on Friday for the same reason. I don’t know why she thinks he’s a big baby I only measured ahead once and other than that I’ve been right on the mark. Why does yours think your baby is big?
It's just the past 2 weeks that my belly has been measuring big. (Just a little bit big she told me.) But I've also gained 40 pounds, so she is worried about my weight now too. So, she's sending me for the ultrasound. Though the ultrasounds seem to be pretty inaccurate at gauging the weight from what I hear, so I'm not sure I'll trust whatever I'm told. If the baby seems big, my doctor said they may re-test me for GD just to make sure I haven't developed it. If not, then they will just assume the baby is big, but healthy otherwise.
10-23-2006, 03:30 PM
ppwgal- Maybe my weight gain is why my ob thinks my baby is big. I've gained more than 40 lbs, closer to 50. She hasn't said anything about retesting for GD. I don't know how much i trust the u/s measurement either. Personally, i think i've just gained a lot of weight! I hate my metabolism. I hate that i'm going to have to diet for so long afterwards too ;)
Very lovely, yes. It’s nice knowing that they’re getting into position, so to speak. I like to say that mine is "locked and loaded" and in an escape position b/c I know he’s been head-down for at least 2 weeks now, and now he’s lower than he was to begin with (according to the NST nurse/tech who did an u/s). She also said it was unlikely that he'd move to a breech position now that he's been head down for so long, so that's a relief.
I wish i could say the same. I barely have anything BUT dh fills an 7x6 walk in closet on his own! It's absolutely incredible to me how many clothes dh has. My DH has more clothes than me too (he has about 20-25 plain white t-shirts alone) but even then it’s looking like baby has more than both of us and I’m only about halfway thru sorting his things in preparation of washing.:eek:
I haven’t seen my belly button (when looking down my belly) in about 2 months now…I can only see it if I’m looking in the mirror. And I’m still waiting for the day where it’s fully popped out, it’s still an innie at this point, go figure!!:rolleyes:
Just wanted to say... Thanks for keeping me entertained today! We're all so talkative that i haven't been bored at work even once! It's the little things in life ;) Can you all keep it up for the rest of this week and next? lol.
No problem! I know I can keep it up, I’m so unmotivated to work that any little distraction is a welcome one. I just made myself do 30 min of straight work and now the rest of the afternoon is open for playing around online until more work comes in, which I hope it doesn't.:o Oooh, I just got a delivery from Target...I think it's the bath and play mat I ordered. You may have 30 minutes more than me today! lol. Nothing has come in on this end and i got caught up over a week ago so i didn't have any loose ends, just in case. If nothing comes up i have nothing to do. I'm sure i could find something or make something up but i wont be here in 9 work days so i don't want to start anything that requires follow ups. Wow...! This thread sure moved today!! Just wanted to drop off a couple of recommendations...
If anyone finds they have some time to read, check out Little Earthquakes (http://www.amazon.com/Little-Earthquakes-Washington-Square-Press/dp/0743470109/sr=8-1/qid=1161641232/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-2879142-3599914?ie=UTF8&s=books) by Jennifer Weiner. I picked it up a little while ago and just started reading it. It's about pregnant women and is really, really good so far. I have a hard time putting it down.
Someone at BFing group today mentioned that Wal-Mart (of all places!) has decent looking nursing bras that are only $9. I've never looked there, but thought I'd pass along the info.
DH & clothes ~ I need to join this club, too. It's ridiculous how many shirts he has.
Sinclair & Rancid ~ So jealous about the colostrum!! DD keeps trying to nurse and telling me that mine are empty. You'd think after doing it for 22 months my milk would come in sooner! :rolleyes:
Would love to write more but gotta go help DH with DD - meltdown time!
Wow, that is quite deep!! Mine was always very deep pre-pg but it’s been slowly but surely being turned inside out. DH has always said he hates outies, I asked him if he’d hate mine if/when it finally goes fully out and he says no. We’ll see!!;)
Yeah that doesn’t make much sense in starting sales on which you won’t receive commission. I work in real estate and it’s been very slow for the last 6 or so months. So when there’s no work coming in, there’s not much for me to do. When we do get something, it takes me all of 10 minutes to do what I’m required to do with it before passing it onto my boss or coworker.:)
Target nursing stuff at my target, they were in the regular lingerie section.
Thanks! I’ll be stopping by there tomorrow to get the stuff I need and will definitely check out their nursing things.:D
Catgirl~ I love Jennifer Weiner’s books, I have that one on my watch list on Half.com (and my Amazon.com wish list) but haven’t bought it just yet b/c I have a bunch of other books I’m going thru first. Interesting that Walmart has nursing bras, I’d stop by to check them out (SIL works there) but I HATE setting foot in that store so I doubt that will happen, LOL.:D I just think it's funny that liquid stuff comes out of our boobs. I'm 12 when it comes to things like that, I get suck a kick out of it. I got up the nerve to show DH once and he thought it was the funniest thing ever. He likened it to the little squirts that happen when you're peeling an orange. :eek:
Wow, this thread was happening today! Not much energy right now for shout outs, but I'm gald to see that everyone is doing okay :)
Today was an eventful day. I commute to Boston via the train every day. This morning, the train that I was on hit a flatbed tractor trailer truck carrying construction equipment. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured or killed. I was VERY shaken up by the whole event - I'm not exagerating when I say that I've never been so scared in my life. There I am drinking my cocoa and reading...the next minute BOOM...and everything, including me, was thrown forward. Again, thankfully, I was not sitting in the first car of the train. There was definitely a guardian angel riding on that train this AM with all of us.
Needless to say, I did not go to work today. After a quick doctor's visit, I was sent to the hospital for monitoring/ultrasound/bloodwork. I'm fine and the baby is fine.
Rancid ~ Pregnancy (and possibly motherhood in general) has made me brain dead. I read your respone re the Jennifer Weiner book and was like, "Oh yeah... I should see what else she's written." Duh! It never crossed my mind to check out other books she's written, too. You'll definitely like this one when you get it! BTW, I don't like Wal-Mart either. I go there when I haven't had a shower in 2 days and feel too scummy to go to Target. :o :)
Just wanted to check in and say that I am still here and still pregnant. DS is not allowed to come out for a couple more weeks since DH is traveling for work until the 5th of Nov.
I haven't had a chance to catch up lately. I am training my temp at work and that takes up all my precious CC time now. My computer at work keeps crashing too, so I never seem to get a free moment during the day anymore.
I hope to catch up and find out how everyone is doing soon! I hope everyone is doing okay!
breech update - The babe still has not turned. We are scheduled for a version on Thursday. The good news is that he is in a premium position for turning, has lots of amniotic fluid, and his butt has not dropped into my pelvis. On the ultrasound we could see that he has rotated a bit, and pulled both feet up by his head, which I don't think he was able to do before I started doing chiropractic care. The nurse was very hopeful and answered all of our questions.
ellidew – it did take me forever to catch up but I am glad I did. We are all getting down to the wire and it will be great to read everyone’s birth stories. I am completely with you regarding feet going back to normal! I just came from a bridal shower and the ladies were all sipping wine and dressed nice and some had fantastic shoes! I was so envious. Soon… very soon.
rancid – yeah, I know. It leaves a funny visual when I write about playing with my pump. Hahahaha! I had no idea that nipple stimulation brought on contractions until someone told me! Man, do those non stress tests lose their charm after a while? I really liked it but I was there for over 2 hours. If I had to do that twice a week, I may get bored.
bethirish – what a scare! Was anyone hurt? It is such a relief to hear that you and the baby are fine. I have not had time to watch the news. I wonder if the story is on there. What line were you on?
My doctor reccommended it to me. We will be going for our OB appointment on Wednesday and he will check to see if Carys is still breech and if so, we will get an ultrasound soon after and then go through this instead of a version.
Wow, I missed a LOT today!
BethIrish - Holy crap, I can't believe you were on that train this morning! I am so glad you and the baby are okay. I commute into Boston on the train every morning too, and was thinking about how scary that would be to have been on that train while pregnant. I'm so glad you weren't on the first train car!
mermccau - That was one massive update you did, I'm impressed! Thanks for the compliment on the round pregnant belly. Though lately it looks more like an alien belly. That's crazy your car got broken into and someone stole your baby stuff!
CityGirl - I hope your little one turns on his own, but if that's not meant to be, I hope the version works for you on Thursday!
ellidew - I'm glad you heard back from your OB and nurse and that you're feeling better about things. I'd be nervous too if I had a ton of movement then noticed an overall decrease.
Is anyone else working up until they give birth?
That was my original plan, but it becomes less appealing as the days go on. I think my manager will be understanding about letting me work from home closer to my due date. I want as many days after the baby is here as possible!
Holy cow I leave for a few hours and come back to find 4 extra pages. There is no way I am even going to attempt SO's at this point. I just want to say that I am glad all is ok BethIrish.
I had class tonight but left early because it hurts to sit and there was no way I was going to make it through a 3 hour class. Would y'all believe that my instructor said something about watching my absenses?!?! The only day I actually missed was because I was in L&D being monitored. He is such a jerk.
*Vent ahead*....I am so sick of not being able to sit or stand or walk because of the pain. And omg going to the bathroom has become quite the chore because it freaking hurts. I am so sick of having contractions like these that aren't doing anything. The real thing can happen anytime now. Seriously. *Ok, end of vent*
Ummm... Ditto. I just don't know what else to say, but I am feeling the exact same way.
I just woke up with my husband (5am) and I am calling in today. I have the whole day stretched out in front of me. What a great feeling!
I will start the day, when the sun comes up a bit more, with my two mile walk. After all the discomfort I have been feeling lately (and I know you can all relate!), it will be nice to have a mental health day of getting stuff done and maybe a nap later! :D
catgirl – thanks. It is frustrating. Being a planner, I am actually surprised I am not freaking out more. ;)
bethirish – other passengers must of FREAKED OUT when they saw you. Did a lot of people rush to help you? Thank goodness no one was seriously injured!
mayham – Hahahaha, I kept thinking it would be easy to backtrack and catch up. Then I would notice that ten more pages were filled up. It took a while but I am glad I “kind of” caught up with what is going on with everyone. I have to admit that sometimes I skimmed.
kadee – your instructor does sound like a jerk! Is he going to count absences when you do not come back because you have had a baby??? Jeesh!
Ack! Holy thread explosion! :D
Rancid The nursery looks fantastic! I really love the wave detail on the walls - awesome!!
Thanks everyone for the compliments on our room. I am so in love with how it all came together. Someone has asked me about the prints on the wall...I ordered them from art.com (http://www.art.com) - they are Andrea Laliberte prints. We wanted to do a bit of a travel theme and these were perfect for a girls room and the colors were exactly what I wanted.
Here are the images:
I had the WORST hip pain lastnight. Ugh! My left hip felt like it was ready to pop out of its socket. Thankfully it seems a bit better today. And I managed to keep myself busy my first day of leave yesterday. Hope I can keep myself occupied until this little girl makes her appearance. It's so nice that my company makes me stop working 2 weeks before my due date (without reducing my time off afterward), but I just don't want to be stuck sitting around waiting and wondering when things will start happening! :p
I'm still an innie! I don't think it will ever pop out with only 2 weeks to go it's still REALLY deep. Dh and i laughed about it yesterday. It's like the never ending hole! Seriously, I can still get the entire tip of my finger in there!
Wow! I can't believe you and Rancid are still innies! Mine popped all the way out a few weeks ago, which is pretty funny. Like Rancid, I can't see it though unless I look in the mirror. Heck, I can't see 'down there' in general unless I look in the mirror! I can still see my feet but I have to tip over a tiny bit.
Glad to hear that I'm not the only one with a DH that has a TON of t-shirts. I definitely have more clothes than him (actually I take up 1 1/2 closets and he only gets one side of one closet. ha!) but not when it comes to T-shirts. That man probably has close to 40 T-shirts alone. And of course he only wears maybe 4 or 5 of the same gray ones. :rolleyes:
I definitely feel that my belly is officially 'large' now and maternity shirts and jutting out. I got a lot more stares although no rude comments yet to the point of saying, "Wow! You must be due any day now!!" But I'm sure it'll come very, very soon.
Is anyone else working up until they give birth?: I'm working up until a week before my due date. I toyed with the idea of working the following week but I think by week 39, I'm going to be more than ready to stop working and lounge in my sweats all day at home. Unless I go early of course! ;)
Lilo- I think it’s pretty incredible it’s still in too! Hopefully I’m never big enough to see it pop out! That would make me humongous!! I considered working through the week of my due date too but I just can’t fathom another day in the office past what I HAVE to do. I am working through next week but that’s it. Just getting shoes on in the morning is a pita!
I love those prints lilla! I’m glad your hip pain feels better today. I’m jealous of your maternity leave and wish I could be at home doing nothing. Alas, dh insists we sock away the money. ;) I hope things start happening soon… I highly recommend catching up with your movie watching!
Mermccau- Enjoy your day off! I think you are nuts for taking a two mile walk but that’s probably only because my ankles are so swollen and sore that just walking to the bathroom sucks!
Kadee- I don’t blame you for not doing SO’s after yesterday. We were a very talkative group! Your instructor is a moron… I probably would’ve had a few choice words for him. The one thing I never understood about college courses is that YOU pay for them but if you miss a few classes they can fail you… who cares how much time you spend in the classroom if you still get a good grade? I just never got that. I always wanted to tell those teachers to shove it, that without me paying for the class they’d be out on the street! Lol. I hear ya on sitting, standing, and walking. I’ve had it too. I just want this baby here NOW!
BethIrish- I know I already said this but after reading the article I just wanted to say that I’m glad you are okay again. What a scary thing to happen!
Mermccau- Aw, yes. Shoe envy! Lol. I have my New Balance tennis shoes and my Merrell mocs to get my by and that’s it! It’s too cold for my flip flops now so I’m stuck with those 2 options. Luckily they both match my sweatpants! Lol. Work attire sure has changed in the last 9 months!
Citygirl- I’m sorry your little boy didn’t flip over. He’s just being difficult isn’t he? I hope your version goes well and I’ll be thinking about you and sending good baby flipping vibes your way. It sounds like they think the version will be successful so that’s really good! Good luck!!
Rubbersoul- I hope your ds cooperates with dh’s travel schedule. That would really really stink. If he does decide to come early will your dh be able to come home?
Hahaha - yeah, by the end of the day, my calves and feet are pretty big and ache. In the morning, first thing, there is some relief. I have to go for my morning walks, no matter how infrequent nowadays. They keep me a bit sane and make me keep in mind that my body is still functioning somehow! ;)
Congrats kadee! Maybe that means baby is on his way any time now! (it didn't mean that for me 2-3 weeks ago but... lol) Have a good class! Hopefully it's not too painful to sit through it.
mermccau- Good for you! I still reserve the right to think you are nuts though :) LOL. I've been showering at night for weeks so that my ankles don't swell up until a couple of hours after i get up so really i'm just envious that you CAN walk 2 miles. I've been sending dh off alone to walk our dog and i miss that time together! They move a lot faster without me at this point though. It's better for all of us. I can't wait to bundle the baby up and head out on walks with the dog! I wish it wasn't so bloody cold outside already! It was 28 when i woke up this morning. Twenty freakin' eight... it's October!
Congrats kadee!!!!! How exciting!! LOL - funny that mucous is "exciting".
QOTD ~ Anyone else getting bombarded with "Oh, no baby yet?" or "Is the baby here yet???" questions in person or in email? This has happened to me at least 4-5 times in the last 2 days. I remember when it happened when I was PG with DD and I was way more bitchy, and it about sent me over the edge. Now I just tell people that I have 2.5 weeks until my due date and I hope he's late. That usually shuts them up. Not to mention these are ppl who are on our call or email list and they know that. Chill people!!! Plus, duh - if you see me in person and ask that - does it look like he's here yet????
mermccau ~ Sounds like you have an awesome day planned! Enjoy!!
Lilla ~ Very cool artwork!!
Wish I could write more but DD is playing with cat food and I want to get her dressed and off to Target. Have a great day everyone! BBL!
LOL, very good point! I haven't gotten anything like that yet. My mom and dh's mom have both inquired as to "anything 'new'"? We've intentionally NOT told them that i've been dilated for weeks so that we didn't have to hear about how it'll be 'any day now'. When i called my sister that lives overseas last Friday she was acting very weird on the phone and i finally had to tell her that if she is expecting baby news that there isn't any yet. lol.
Today officially marks 38 weeks for me! YAY! :D :D
I'm going to try this whole update thing again since i had it all typed out once before then the computers at work crashed! Ugh!
Really there isn't much new to update on. We're still just waiting. Whoever posted that line from Finding Nemo the other day 'keep on swimming keep on swimming...' i really want to thank you for getting that stuck in my head because i've been 'keep on waiting keep on waiting keep on waiting' ever since! :D
Charlie horse in the belly? Around 1 am this morning i woke up with a shooting pain in my right side that felt a lot like a charlie horse you'd get in your leg. I got up and went to the bathroom and laid back in bed and it just got worse so i suffered through the pain and pulled myself out of bed and walked in circles around the house wincing at how painful it was and it finally went away. I'm not sure what it was but it felt like a charlie horse... the same pulling muscle type feeling. Anyone else experience anything similar?
Any suggestions on what i can do online today until 3:30? I have to fill 5 hours and 40 more minutes of my work day. Any ideas?
Pity Party, table for 1 please!
One of my best friends, who was due 2 days before me, went into labor last night. Her water broke at 2:30, at 8 they were starting pitocin. So excited for her!
Then I get to work (after not sleeping 12-5 am) and get an email that one of the girls in the prenatal water aerobics class had her baby over the weekend--she wasn't due until Thanksgiving!
I think I'm going to be pregnant f.o.r.e.v.e.r! I'm so jealous that people are getting to meet their little ones and I'm still sitting here with a bowling ball for a stomach.
Oh, Sinclair... hang in there. It's not going to be much longer. You have less than 2 weeks to wait until your due date. I know how frustrating it is but know that you are not alone, we could probably fill a small restaurant with all of us that feel the same way. Just last night i was laying in bed imagining what our baby is going to look like and thinking, come on baby lets get this show on the road!! Then i had one of 'those moments' where i was thinking 'holy crap, a baby!' lol. It sucks that the last few weeks are just waiting.
Sinclair319 - Sorry this last stretch is driving you nuts, I don't blame you, especially after seeing your friends give birth before you. Think of it this way, by the time Corbin comes out, his lungs will be very well developed and he'll be fully cooked!
ellidew - Yay for reaching 38 weeks!! The charlie horse sounds painful. I've not felt anything like that... could that have possibly been a contraction?
kadee_29 - Congrats on losing your plug!
Random question (for kadee or anyone) - Is it obvious when you lose your mucuous plug? Just wondering if this is something I could lose and be totally oblivious to the fact I lost it?
I don't know... it was only on the right side.
I think you could miss it if you weren't looking. Mine came out in pieces and i only noticed because i've been paranoid since we got our bfp and i have gotten in the habit of checking after i wipe, weird, huh? It's kind of like passing tissue during your period... it just comes out and you don't even notice. I don't know if that's the case for everyone or not. I did get 1 big chunk but didn't notice it until i looked in the toilet. Gosh, i have some weird bathroom habits!! :D
Sare - I just had my second session of the Webster Technique yesterday. It felt really good, and got rid of a pain that my regular chiropracter hasn't been able to remedy in months. I feel like even if it doesn't turn the baby on its own, its freeing up more room for the baby to be turned in. I do think it freed up some room for him to get his legs together by his head.
Just for fun, here is a list of all the things we have tried to get this baby to turn:
- Webster Technique
- Accupuncture/moxibustion
- Headstands in the pool
- Homeopathic Pulsatilla
- Homeopathic Ignatia Amara
- Bouganvilla Flower Essence
- Slant Board Exercises
- Knees/Chest Position
- Ice on the baby's head & hot pack below
- Music down low by my pelvis
- DH talking to baby down low
- Flashlight down low
- Gentle massage of the baby
I can't find anything else to try, so now that we are going in for the version I really feel like I can say we did everything we could. It's out of our hands...
plug mine came out in one big chunk the last time, but now it seems like I have been losing it a little at a time.
Sinclair I would like to join the pity party. I think we would need a bigger table though. The wait has been annoying to say the least.
Rubbersoul~ Sorry to hear that your temp training is cutting into your CC time, bummer! But it’s good to hear from you and that you’re doing well. Keep cooking that baby for another couple of weeks so DH can be there!
Citygirl~ Baby still hasn’t turned? I hope the version works, I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts come Thursday…it’s time for that little guy to get upside down already!
Mermccau~ Yeah I had no idea about the nipple stimulation/contraction thing until my BFing class 2 weeks ago when the LC was talking about practicing with the pump prior to going into labor so you can get the hang of it. She said but don’t start too early, wait until you’re ~full term b/c you don’t want to bring on early labor (although someone in the Natural Induction Methods thread someone mentioned that you’d have to spend 3 hours doing such in order for it to bring on labor). I’m still enjoying the NST’s, I haven’t been there longer than 1.5 hours…to be honest, I’d rather be in there napping or reading and getting to hear baby’s hb than sitting on my arse at work, bored, LOL.
Kadee~ A 3-hr class, wow! I start getting fatigued at my 2-2.5 hour baby-related classes once a week and we get breaks in the middle. What a jerky thing for your teacher to say about watching your absenses!! Sorry to hear about all your pain, that really sucks!! At least you don’t have too much longer to go, I hope your little guy doesn’t decide to show up late, for your sake! How exciting you lost your plug! Hopefully that means things will get a-movin’ for you (although I know logically that a pg gal can lose her plug anytime in the last 2 months of pregnancy and it doesn’t mean that labor is right around the corner). But I hope for your sake it means that things are progressing!!
Lilla~ Thanks for the compliments! I give DH credit for painting the walls. Your nursery looks great too! Oooh, I love those prints you posted! Sorry to hear about your hip pain, mine were hurting pretty bad last night too. All day I was fine and then I had to stop by the grocery store and almost left before I was done b/c I just wanted to go home and put my feet up.
Lilo~ Yep, still an innie here, LOL!! Just a little bit though, not as much as Ellidew’s. It’s not sticking out yet but then again I still have another month or so to go, so it could be a matter of days before it pops out. I can’t see “down there” at all either except in the mirror. Kind of makes things difficult when I have to leave a urine sample at all my NST and ob appts. Yeah, my DH has so many clothes that I get half of the closet in our bedroom and 3 drawers in the dresser. He gets the other half of the closet, 3 drawers, and the closet in the extra bedroom which is now baby’s room. So he’ll have to find a new place for all his stuff or else condense his wardrobe.
Just getting shoes on in the morning is a pita!
ITA!! Shoes and socks both have been so hard for me to get on for a couple of months now. I feel like I need to get into some high-level yoga positions in order to reach my friggin feet to get them on. I’m gonna resort to flip flops by week’s end, I just know it. I was so out of breath after getting ONE sock on this morning I almost gave up.:eek:
Ellidew~ I wish it would get cold here already! The joys of living in Southern CA.:rolleyes: It was cooling off for a couple weeks and I was so excited NOT to have to run the A/C during that time then WHAM we got hit with some nice hot weather (temps in the low 80’s), which also happens to be incredibly dry at the same time. Luckily it’s still cool at night (high 50’s) so it’s nice to sleep with the windows open and the fans on (I’m always hot, day or night no matter what the temps outside). Whoohoo for being at 38w!!! I wonder if maybe you pulled something in your side without realizing it? I’ve noticed my body
