gymwidow: Sorry your long commute was no fun with the m/s, but glad the pizza made you feel better. I've been craving pizza too!
magrat: Hope the tums help!
em1126: Can't wait to see your u/s pics. I go on Friday for my first one and I can't wait!!!
DnJ2002: yea for a good heartbeat! That's what I'm waiting for on Friday.
Sarah6690: Can't believe how ungrateful those people were you were helping this weekend. I'm sure it makes you not want to help them anymore. It seems as if they are used to getting handouts and don't appreciate anything nice someone tries to do for them. Just where would they have been without you and your DH's help...geesh!
micd: Congrats and welcome.
Cosmogirl: Hope you are feeling better and that pain has gone away!
risa00 : Glad you got back safe from your trip. It's funny that the pasta and pizza were not appealing to you...those have been two things I don't normally eat, but have been craving this past week! Hope your m/s gets a little better. I think eating every few hours (even if you aren't hungry) helps.
almostthere : Hope you start to feel a little better.
I had a really tiring day. My co-teacher was out unexpectedly and I was stuck with 30 1st graders going crazy for Halloween! Thankfully we had a lot of parents come in to volunteer for our party this afternoon, but I am worn out.
My m/s has kicked in. No throwing up, but I feel awful in the morning until after I eat something. I've noticed when I get up around 4 or 5 AM to use the bathroom that is when it really kicks in and I have trouble getting back to sleep b/c I feel so bad. I'm going to try and eat something tonight when I get up at that time and see if it helps.
I've still been craving salty foods and am having a hard time eating veggies and any dairy products. I read that a pregnant woman should eat 1200 mg per day of calcium, but I'm finding it very hard to eat yogurt, drinking milk, etc. What do you all think of taking a calcium supplement. I plan to ask my dr. next week.
Also, does anyone have an answer about hair color. I've read things saying it is fine after the first trimester, that you should avoid it all together, and that it is fine at any point. I get my hair highlighted on a regular basis and feel in need of a touch-up. Just wondering if any of you have talked to your dr.'s about this yet.
I know you all are probably tired of me saying it, but we go on Friday for the u/s and I can't wait!!!

magrat~ I agree with the Tums, I've taken them almost every day for the past 4 weeks.
gymwidow~ I hear you about the Saltines. I recently switched to Ritz, I just don't think I'll be able to eat Saltines again.
em1126~ We were a little disappointed with our first appt, too. I thought it would be really detailed like what to expect, etc., but it was pretty anti-climactic.
GA_Gal~ I think a calcium supplement is perfectly fine. You could even try Tums. About the hair dye, do get foils or all-over color? I have heard that the foils are ok because the dye doesn't actually touch your skin. Also, be sure you're in a well-ventilated area. FWIW, I get foils, but I am waiting until after the 1st tri to get mine done, just in case...
All of the kids in our neighborhood have started coming around for trick-or-treating. They are so cute! I can't believe we'll all have kiddos of our own next year at this time!

The trick-or-treaters have all gone home so its quiet again. It was a fun Halloween with my DD-her first year in costume!
Magrat-Tums are fine for heartburn. I went through my share last time around. When it got really bad for me (last 2-3 months), Dr approved over-the-counter Zantac. Tums are definitely good for the 1st trimester and then ask you Dr if you need something stronger. So far no heartburn here but it was as bad as m/s for me by the end (and completely disappeared as soon as DD was born!).
GA_Gal-My Dr says hair color is fine. I'm not comfortable with all over hair color 1st trimester but foils are fine since they don't touch the scalp. Plus the color is so much better now and hardly has an odor.
Off to post some Halloween pictures for the family.

DH is running to get me Tums as I type :) I left it a bit later than I should have because he already had to go get me a banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) and I feel bad making him do so much for me. I've been craving one since yesterday afternoon and yesterday he came home with the wrong thing  The place was shut so he went to our favorite Cambodian place instead and picked up all this fried fatty food that is exactly the opposite of what I wanted and I couldn't really touch it or even stand the smell. He figured it was Asian so it was close enough  So he is definitely making up for it today. Tell me, are you all demanding?
I have my first ultrasound appointment a week from today and I'm excited too, but I wasn't sure I wanted an ultrasound at all, especially an early one, so I definitely have mixed feelings about it. Still, they told me the appointment will be at least an hour, probably and hour and a half, so they've got to tell me something! I know I have lots of paperwork to fill out. I'm definitely going to start writing down questions so I don't forget when I get there - which I am sure I would. I want to know how much it's going to cost me out of pocket so I can sign up for my company's medical savings plan so at least some of my expenses will be tax free. I also want to know how often and under what circumstances they induce (that induction thread has me horrified!). What they do about breech babies or other complications. I can't think of any others right now, but I have time yet. I guess what I'm looking forward to more than my appointment, is just being 8 week! That much closer to the second trimester.

DnJ2002 and L&D Nurse: Thanks for your responses about the hair color. I do highlights, so from what I read I guess it would be OK, but all the stuff about wating until after 1st trimester makes me feel like I should wait. 5 weeks or so seems like a long time away. I doubt I'll be able to wait...if only I could wear a hat to work!
L&D Nurse: Tums would be a great idea for calcium! I'll have to stop by and get some at the store tomorrow.
We didn't have many trick-or-treaters, but the ones that came by were adorable. Like L&D nurse said, I'm so excited that this time next year we'll be dressing up our own babies!
Sarah6690
11-01-2006, 07:40 AM
GA_Gal it is definately fun to dress up your little one. For his first Halloween my DS was a giraffe. It was the cutest thing ever!
magrat fried foods are grossing me out too. Just the thought of anything greasy makes me feel sick. Tums was a complete necessity to me last time. Especially the third trimester, I didn't go Anywhere without it.
DnJ what was your DD this year?
gymwidow I hope you're feeling better today.
Yesterday, I stayed home sick from work. It was very nice to just a have a day to myself to sleep and relax. I did absolutely nothing until about 3:00. I was feeling pretty sick. I had diarrhea all morning but it went away pretty quickly. Last night, I took DS trick-or-treating. We went with his cousin so it was pretty fun. Cold, but fun. Now, if only sweets didn't sound so gross, I'd be in heaven. He doesn't like very much candy, so I usually eat a lot of it. Less than a week until my first appointment!!:p

GA GAL, oh, I heart pizza. I think I may have it again for lunch today! I'm sorry you had such a tiresome day yesterday. Thank goodness for parent volunteers! Ugh to the m/s. Hopefully a 4 am snack will help. Maybe even just some crackers? I've been trying to have a snack before bed so that my tummy stays fuller a little longer. Not sure if it helps or not.....
L&D Nurse, Ritz, huh? Good to know, thanks! I'll buy a box this week!
DnJ, got any Halloween pics you can share with us? I'd love to see your DD!
magrat, that's awesome that your DH is taking good care of you! I'm also starting a list of questions for my first OB appointment next week. I didn't bother asking my RE since I knew I wouldn't be with him forever, and I have so many! I'm excited for you for your u/s - it's such a great experience!
Sarah, I am, thanks! I'm sorry you had such an awful day yesterday, too! That's good that you had a chance to rest. I hope you and DS had fun trick-or-treating!
Today is a MUCH better day! I had a whole bowl of Cheerios before I left home this morning and then sucked on a peppermint and napped during my commute and that helped a lot. I still feel generally queasy, but not on the verge of throwing up. I did get the dry heaves a little this morning when I brushed my teeth - my gag reflex is so strong! But thankfully they passed.
We had our last RE visit today. So weird. I was all sentimental as we left the office. We went through so much there and got to know everyone and it will be strange to not see them on a regular basis. My RE gave me a big hug and told me how happy he is for us and to never hesitate to call him with any questions or anything, and that I'd better be sure to send pictures and bring the kids for a visit. The girls at the front desk all wished us luck and made us promise the same thing.
And of course the best part was that we saw the babies again! They're starting to look like babies now (u/s pics on the first page) and you can make out their heads (at the bottom) and their little legs starting to grow. They're measuring 16 and 18 mm and we didn't get an exact h/b rate, but he said it's high, around 160-170. Today I really feel that connection with them that I've been wanting to feel. I think seeing them look more like humans than blobs helped. But I think it's really set in that I'm pregnant and have actual babies growing in me! How cool is that! :D

Here are a couple pics of my DD-she was a leopard for Halloween and loved all the excitement (even though it was so cold last night). The first Halloween was exciting but this time we had a lot of fun! It is fun to see the little ones all dressed up.

gymwidow yay! They do look like babies now! Isn't it exciting. My gag reflex is also very strong. Add my new "dog nose" to that and just about anything sets me off. I'm hate the way everything smells wierd.
DnJ your DD is adorable! See looks like she is having fun.

Prentiss Congrats and Welcome!
Okay, so up until today, the sight of food has made me sick. Now, I am absolutely starving. Since I didn't bring anything with me to work to eat today, I've already made three trips to the veding machine. I'm feeling much better now, but still hungry. I can't wait for lunch.

Congrats and welcome to prentiss!
Thank you all for the wonderful welcome!
magrat - Thanks for the due date calculator; I really like it. That one puts me at July 1, so we'll see what doc says at the end of the month.
GA GAL - Are you a first grade teacher? So am I!! I really enjoy first grade, though they do drive me nuts sometimes ;)
So far I am feeling pretty okay over here. I am still working out 5 days a week and no m/s yet (knock very hard on wood!). My goodness though, my bb's are killing me! I also feel like they've grown already  Is this even possible so early?!
DH is in the military and this morning he left for a few months, so I was feeling a bit blue today :( but am better now that I am home with my doggie and I can relax on the couch and get ready for LOST (huge Lost fan over here)!!
Sarah6690
11-02-2006, 06:38 AM
micd It is definately possible for your bb's to have grown already. I have to go buy new bras this weekend, as mine already don't fit. I also need to find one that is comfortable enough to sleep in. Mine hurt the most first thing in the morning. Sorry that DH is going to be gone for a few months. Do you know when he comes back yet? By the way, I'm a huge Lost fan too! Did you watch it last night? I thought it was kind of dissapointing. I'm not a big Echo fan though.

I have my first real OB appt today. I am both excited and nervous. I have heard two really sad stories recently where the OB tried to find heart tones at the first appointment, only to find out by u/s that the baby had died several days or weeks earlier. I am just hoping and praying that everything is OK with our little one. I'll be back later to let you know how it all goes and fill you in on all of the poking and prodding that goes on!

I got sick for the first time last night. Only a little, but it wasn't fun. It was really strange though. It wasn't like I expected. When I throw up for other reasons in my everyday life, I just get progressively more nausous until I can't handle it any more and then it feels like my stomach expells what is inside.
Last night it was like my gag reflex was being activated by something. Does that make sense? It was like there was something in my throat making me gag and heave, and so I was sick.
Is this TMI? Am I just being crazy!? :o
Anyway, the point is that it was TOTALLY not what I expected. Did anyone else have a similar experience?

I have my first real OB appt today. I am both excited and nervous.
I know how you feel! There is nothing more nerve wracking than that first appointment! I hope everything goes great for you, and we can't wait to hear all about it!
Sarah6690
11-02-2006, 11:25 AM
StacieLady No, you make perfect sense. Usually when you throw up, you are getting something out of your system that shouldn't be there. With m/s everything should be there, so throwing it all up doesn't help at all. That's usually when I get sick is after I smell something gross, there goes the gag reflex. Hope you are feeling better. Try to keep eating every few hours. That really seems to help.
L&D Nurse Good luck today! Can't wait to hear how everything goes. Only 5 more days before I get to go for my first appointment!

I'm back from my appointment... It started out like the others: urine check, weight, and blood pressure with the nurse. Then the doctor came in and did a physical (listened to my heart and lungs and did a breast exam). Next she did a pap and did a gonorrhea and chlamydia swab. She said I definitely had a growing uterus. Then she used the doppler to listen for the heartbeat. She wasn't able to find it so she said she wanted to do an u/s just to make sure everything was OK. The u/s was amazing! Our little baby was wiggling his/her little arms and legs and the heartbeat was 174. He/she was measuring 2.7 cm, which is exactly 9w3d!!! We saw the umbilical cord and placenta and we got 5 pictures of our little one.
Thanks for your good thoughts, StacieLady and Sarah6690, we are so thrilled that everything is going along so well!

DnJ, awwww, she is so adorable! I love the look on her face in that first pic.
Sarah, oh, yeah, the gag reflex and the supernose are amazing. I have to breathe through my mouth half the time so I can hopefully not smell some stuff! Did you bring more snacks today to help keep your tummy full?
prentiss, welcome and a big congrats! I love your DD's name - it's actually one of the names we've chosen if we have two baby girls.
micd, I hope you keep feeling great! My boobs have definitely grown. I went from a B to a C (thankfully I still had some C's from before I lost weight a few years ago) and am trying to hold out before buying any new bras. I'm so sorry that your DH is gone now. When does he come home? I'm glad you have your doggie to keep you company. They're great for that!
L&D Nurse, woohoo! I've read a couple of those stories recently and understand how scary it can be (those stories are exactly why I plan to request yet another u/s at my appointment next week). I'm so glad you got one and saw your little one waving at you! Do you have pictures to post?!?! I'm off now to make your profile changes. :)
Stacie, oh, I am so sorry. :( I haven't thrown up yet, but I've had the dry heaves a few times and it's always been brought on by my gag reflex. I have to be VERY careful when I brush my teeth now.
A pretty good day here. I had a massage today and it was heavenly. I swear I felt like I was floating.
I got more good news from the RE yesterday - I got to stop taking the progesterone shots last night! Yay! I'm a little nervous about not having any kind of hormonal support, but I trust that he knows what he's doing and that my body is now making enough to support the little pinto beans. It was great being able to just go to sleep last night whenever I wanted, without having to wait for DH to get home and shoot me up! :D

Thank you for all of the suggestions for m/s and the cold. I went to the doctor on Monday and he have me category B medicine to take. I took the last pill yesterday and I'm through with medicine for a long time. :) I have been wearing the sea bands and they work some, but not completely. Are there different sizes to them because I have to take them off after a few hours as they are strangling my wrists. Preggo Pops also seem to work as long as they are still in my mouth. Once they disintegrate, the nausea comes back.
We had our first OB appointment today.. It was amazing!!!!! As a first time mommy, I didn't know what to expect and they did an u/s and we saw the little heart beating. I have no idea what the number was, but it looks strong and fast. I could have just stared at the screen forever but they didn't want to do it very long. I have a picture so I'll scan it in later to post it. My EDD is still the same and I'm 8w1d along. The appointment really relieved me. My BBs lost their soreness so I wasn't sure what that meant. I guess my BBs just aren't going to grow.
Waistline is definitely growing. I'm sitting at my desk right now with my 2 buttons undone.. lol.
I can't remember who said they are working out 5 times a week, but wow, I'm impressed. I'm hoping once this cold is completely gone, I'll go back to the gym, but bravo for you!
L&D Nurse Glad to hear your appointment went well. I was completely with you in the same spot today. Now it's just a matter of waiting to see the next u/s.
Stacie I'm so sorry to hear about your vomiting. I haven't gotten to that point yet, but I can only imagine how it must feel. :( Hopefully it won't hang around too long.
Threadmistress, my next doctor's appointment is December 5th and we're having a u/s. Thanks!

risa, that's awesome! I'm so excited for you. I agree, I could sit and stare at the u/s for hours. The docs move too fast! My Sea Bands do the same thing - they leave little indentations all over my wrists. I adjust them every so often and take them off for a few minutes a couple of times a day. I feel like they sort of help, but as long as I'm feeling more un-nauseous than nauseous, I figure I'll keep 'em on!

Hi ladies!
Sorry I've been so MIA, but I've been soooo tired & DS has decided that this is a good time to shorten his naps. blech. I'm hoping it's just the time change & that he'll go back to 2 - 2 1/2 hr naps.
haircolor My ob said to wait until after the 1st trimester. I think I got my hair colored at 12wks 1 day w/DS b/c I was so desperate to cover my gray!
risa I'm the crazy workout girl. I go at least 4x/week and often 5x/week. Mostly it's for my sanity & to give DS & I a break from each other. Plus I do not want to gain 60lbs this time around!
I have to run, so no individual shout-outs, but I'm happy for you ladies who have had great ob visits & u/s recently!! Hooray for our June babies!
Oh & Welcome & Congratulations prentiss!!

Prentiss Sorry to hear about the cold. Yuck! The doctor gave me 500 mg of Zithromax or otherwise known as Azithromycin. I also just bought a humidifier and have been using that.. not sure if that helped or the medicine. Either way the cold is FINALLY going away!
Threadmistress (or gymwindow :)) please post my 8w1d u/s picture on the first page. Here's a link to the jpg. http://www.seanandlisa.net/ultrasound.jpg Thanks!

risa00: Just looked at your ultrasound picture...amazing! I can't wait for mine tomorrow!!! I'm so glad your apt. went well. I am totally feeling you with the buttons undone on your pants. I have one pair of jeans that fit me, so I'm going to go shopping for some maternity pants soon. I just don't want to wake up one morning and have nothing to wear.
prentiss: Congrats and welcome!!! I know a ton of pregnant people right now, too!
daphne: I'm thinking I'll hold out until 12 weeks too, but my apt. will be the very next day! Hope your DS gets back on his regular napping schedule.
gymwidow: Your massage does sound awesome! I'd love to have one...might have to put that on my list of things to do. Do you go to someone for a pregnancy massage or just regular? Glad you don't have to do the progesterone shots anymore and I wanted to let you know that I love how you refer to your babies depending on their size (pinto beans this week). It's great to get a clear image of how big they are at this point. One more thing, I saw your post on belly shots. I love that thread and look at it daily. I've started taking pics and hope to post soon. :-)
micd : I do teach 1st grade. I really love it. I taught pre-k before and 1st grade is awesome compared to 4 year olds. They are still sweet and love their teachers, but are more independent. It's a fun age and we have a really sweet group of kids. Sorry your hubby is gone, but hopefully you'll continue feeling well and you won't have much m/s.
StacieLady: So sorry you felt sick. I haven't thrown up yet, but I keep feeling like it is going to happen any day now. Hope you've been better throughout today.
L&D Nurse: Yea for a great apt. I'm so happy for you! I can't wait to see your u/s pics. Noticed that you changed your gender prediction to girl...what makes you think that? I'm hoping girl, but have no idea. Some of my friends say since I'm craving salty foods that could be a sign of a boy. Obviously either way I'd be thrilled, but just curious.
DnJ2002: Love the pics of your DD. She is adorable!
OK, so tomorrow is the big day. They called me this afternoon and asked if my apt. could be moved up an hour from 9:30 to 8:30 which made me very happy! We're flying up to Atlanta (our old home) tomorrow afternoon to spend the weekend with our friends/family for my b-day. I'm very excited/anxious to have good news from our u/s to share. I think we're going to tell our closest friends on Sat. and my little dinner b-day party.
I'll try to post before we leave for the airport to let you all know how it goes.
Welcome and congratulations prentiss!!!
sarah6690, gymwidow, prentiss, and GA_GAL - Dh will be gone for 4 months, so he will be back at the beginning of March. Thank you for the kind words.
Sarah6690 - Yep, I watched last night, though I fell asleep so I think I missed a bunch! I wasn't a huge Echo fan either, I am much more interested in what is going on with Kate, Jack, and Sawyer! I am disappointed in this season as well...it just doesn't seem as if much is happening. I need more answers :)
prentiss - Lost is awesome, though a bit lame this season. I seriously cracked up at your comment about poking someone's eye out! I won't be seeing my OB until I'm about 10 weeks, so I hear ya. Also, the military only does one u/s! So I won't see my baby until around 18 or 20 weeks.
L&D Nurse - Congrats on seeing your baby!
gymwidow - That is great news about the progesterone shots!
risa00 - That is wonderful that you got to see your baby. I can't wait for that experience.
daphne - I workout about 5 times a week as well. I am so worried about gaining too much weight! I have the harded time losing weight, so I'd rather not gain too much. I'm only 5'2" and weight about 10 lbs more than I want to to start off with. My sister and my mom both gained a lot of weight with their pregnancies, but they are both very slender.
Tiredness has kicked in over here. I just wanted to crash after work today. I hope those of you who are feeling yucky start feeling better soon!
QOTD - We know a few other people who are pregnant. Our good friends found out they were pregnant about 2 weeks before us (we always said we would have kids at the same time), but they live overseas right now. Another couple that we are friends with just found out they are also pregnant with #2 a few days ago.

I love seeing the 8 week ultrasounds since I'll be having one myself soon! It's amazing how much they look like babies already, isn't it?
QOTD I don't really know anyone else who is pregnant, besides people on here. It's a shame, I wish I had some real life friends to go through this at the same time. Maybe by next time they'll be ready, huh?
I'm in awe of those of you who are getting exercise. I don't get any exercise when I'm feeling well, so right now it's even more out of the question, especially since it's starting to get so cold out. I'm hoping that by the second trimester I will feel up for going on walks because I'm really worried about my blood pressure.

Good morning, ladies. I am dropping off u/s pics from yesterday and also to add that my OB said it was OK to get a flu shot in the first tri, so I will be getting one the next day I work. The pics are a little blurry, our scanner isn't set up yet, so I have to take digital photos of the pics. :o

L&D Nurse Those are great pictures!!! I like being able to actually make out the baby now. :)
QOTD I forgot to answer this question last night. I know someone who just had a baby, one who's about to in November, one in December, 2 having them in February, and 2 more sometime after that. So that's 7 plus me so 8.

Just got back from my u/s and it was amazing. We got to see the heartbeat and hear it. Our baby is measuring 8 w 2 d and I'm 7 w 6 d. The heartbeat was 180 bpm, which she said was very good. I'm so excited right now. :-)
I've posted pictures before, but can't seem to get this one to work. I'll play around with it more next week.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Sarah6690, micd, prentiss, gymwidow~ Thank you!
GA_GAL~ I have always kind of thought our baby was a girl, but the feeling is getting stronger, so I decided to add the prediction to my profile. I will of course be very happy with a healthy boy or girl, but I have to admit that I will be surprised if this little one isn't a girl. Congrats on your great appointment today!
risa00~ Thanks! Yes, it is so cool to be able to make out heads and hands, and it was so increidble to see him/her moving around in there!!
QOTD~ I am the 5th nurse on my floor who is pg right now! One is expecting twins (one boy and one girl), and I went to her shower last night. It was really fun. The other three pg nurses are expecting boys!

daphne, you are awesome! I miss working out! I put my gym membership on hold before we started our IVF cycle and haven't reactivated it yet. My friend who's an OB says that I need to take it easy, but I have it on my list of things to discuss next week at my appointment. I'd like to be able to start going again. I hope DS has settled down and is napping better again!
prentiss, thanks, we are soooooo excited about two! Hello massages indeed. I can't wait for my next one in two weeks. I hope you can get your appt moved up!
GA GAL, I've been going to a massage therapist through my insurance company since July, mostly to help me deal with the stress of IF treatment. Lucky for me, she's also certified in prenatal massage, so I'm going to stay with her as long as I can (basically until the doc says no more or I have to go on bedrest). She's fabulous! I love knowing about how big the babies are b/c it definitely makes it easier to picture them. I don't have much of a belly yet (well, not if I suck it in), but I couldn't resist posting there. I think I'm going to see some changes starting soon, at least if the way my pants fit is an indicator. I'm so glad your appointment went well and that you got to see and hear everything! I can't wait to see the pics. Have a GREAT trip and fun time this weekend!
micd, ok, 4 months isn't too bad! I know it's easy for me to say that though. But I hope they pass by quickly. Will he then be home for a while? Only one u/s?!?! Oh my. Maybe you can convince them that more is really necessary! Good for you working out so much!!!
magrat, I'm hoping my doc will okay walking or maybe riding the recumbant bike at the gym. I just want to be able to move a bit!
L&D Nurse, awwww, look how cute s/he is already! :) That's neat that you have so many pregnant women around you. Your little girl has a few potential boyfriends already. ;)
QOTD, actually, not a lot right now. We knew about 6 babies born this past summer, though. I have one good friend who's due in March and I just found out this week that another friend is due in April. We haven't told either of them yet, but I'm glad that I'll have them to share with. Of our other friends, we know a lot who have kids already, but only one of our closest friends does, so we'll really be the first of our inner circle to go through pregnancy.
Today is a good day. :) I was asleep by 10 last night, which really helped a lot. And I had a good breakfast before leaving home, so the nausea is under control. I'm starting to feel what one friend said might be round ligament pain. It's like minor AF cramping. I figured it was everything starting to stretch out inside. I feel like it's too early, but my twin books say that a lot of stuff like that starts to happen much earlier with two. I'm not worried about it b/c I have no spotting or anything and it's not sharp or constant, but I'll definitely ask about it at my appointment next week.

Sorry I've been MIA girls! I've been so busy at work and then come home and just want to do nothing but lay on the couch!
Welcome to all the new June mommies! :) I'll try and get back on this weekend to do SO's.
I had my first doctor's appointment yesterday. Not too much fun! They did a full physical and pap. I'm glad that's done with now!
I asked when the first ultrasound usually is and my doctor said not until about 16 weeks! I don't know how I'm going to wait that long!! I just want to see my little one and hear the heart beat you know?
Does anyone else have to wait that long for your first ultrasound? It seems like most of you are having them pretty early - lucky bums!
Those pics are amazing L&D Nurse!!! So cool!
I've been feeling pretty good. Just a little nausea in the mornings sometimes but no real m/s. I still don't have sore boobs yet?
Have a good weekend mommies! And I'll try and get back with the SO's this weekend! I have alot of catching up to do on this thread!
Oh, and my due date was changed to June 21, 2007!

Sorry, not a lot of time right now. Just finishing up my lunch at work. I don't know if I mentioned it before, but we still don't have internet at home. Probably won't for awhile... we have so much other stuff going on. Still trying to finish some projects around the house so we can unfinish packing. I think that the only goal I better set for myself is to be unpacked before this baby comes. Almost can't wait until 3rd trimester when my "nesting instinct" kicks in. I'm sure that's when I'll get a lot accomplished. With DS, I cleaned EVERYTHING those last few weeks. Under the hood of the stove, all the baseboards and cabinet shelves. I even ironed DH's socks. Oh well. I've been a complete pig the last few days. M/s seems to be almost gone, and all I want to do is eat. Hope everyone has a good weekend!
L&D Nurse those are amazing ultrasound pics. I love that s/he actually looks like a baby now.
Can't remember who asked right now, but I don't have a favorite candy now. Now, that I am actually enjoying sweets again... I like them all!! :D

HI ladies,
I'm been MIA too lol
First, WELCOME AND CONGRATS to all the new June Mommies!!!:D
It has been crazy busy, with the job, and school, but I finally got my maternity leave, since my job is hazadeous to my baby, so I'm done with my job. Finished working yesterday, and I crashed in my bed after my class, where I actually fell asleep, and not lightely, trust me.:p
Nothing much, I'm feeling tons better (thanks to all of your for your concerns!!!) and have no more pains in my lower abdomen.
I've started feeling queasy in the mornings, and when I haven't eaten in a long time, but nothing as bad as with my first!
I don,t really have time for proper shoutouts, but just a few...
L&D nurse: This pics are just too adorable!!! Thanks for all the info you provided me with concerning the HB. Hoping everything is OK, and it is now beating away!
Mexicobride: No U/S or even an exam until december for me!!! I did get an US because I had really bad pain, but we didn't see much except a sac, so now, it is freaking me out more then anything. I totally feel for you, as I totally understand!!!
Oh, and still no breast pain here either!
GA_GAL: gald your US went perfect for you too!!!:D
Got to go, I have to work on my school stuff while my little beast is asleep:D
Be back later
MexicoBride'05 - I will only get one u/s and so it won't be until 18-20 weeks, I think, so that will be around end of Jan/Feb for me. The military just does one u/s, unless their are complications or prior history of course.
Mild quesiness is starting to hit over here, but nothing major yet. I hate nausea, so much that I cry whenever I throw up (I can't remember the last time I threw up), so I really hope that is doesn't get bad. I really symphathize with those of you are having bad m/s. You are brave ladies.

I've been so tired in the evenings lately - I'm fine all through work but then when I get home it's a struggle to stay awake. The last few nights I've slept like 10 hours! Last night DH had a friend over and after dinner I didn't feel to good so I went to lie down for a while at 7:45 - I didn't wake up until 10 even with all the noise from video games and stuff, and he had just left! I felt like such a bad hostess. I stayed up for about 20 minutes and then went back to bed and just got up at 7. Oh well, I'll take sleepiness over m/s any day.
cosmogirl Wow, I can't imagine being out on maternity leave already! Must be nice
Sarah6690 I can't wait for the nesting instinct either, there's so much that's not getting done around here! I'm not sure the laundry can wait another 7 months though...

magrat - I'm so glad you said that. I have been blaming mine on being jet lagged still. It could be the case, but I take a nap from 6 pm to 10 pm. Then I go to bed at like 10:30 pm and wake up at 5:00 am. I hate getting up so early, but I just can't seem to change my times! When I add it all together, that comes to 10+ hours. I had no idea it was that long until I saw your post. Now if I only knew what to do at 5:50 am on Saturday.
daphne
11-04-2006, 07:08 AM
Count me in as super-sleepy, too. I nap every day when DS naps & if I don't get at least an hour and 1/2, I'm a wreck! When I was working, when pg w/DS, I'd nap every day after work for about 2-3 hours. We need it! We're growing babies!!
I'm off to have brunch with my 2 closest friends from high school. Both are trying, unsuccessfully, to get pg. I'm not going to tell them that I'm pg yet. It's going to be hard not to slip, but I'm going to bite my tongue.
Happy weekend!

I have a QOTD for you all: What kind of vitamins do you take?
The reason I ask is I think my OTC (Nature Made) PNVs are making me nauseated. I am switching today to 2 Flintstones to see if that helps, and was wondering if any of you have had the same problem, or if any of you are taking prescrition vitamins (Premesis?) that are supposed to help with nausea, and if you can tell a difference? Thanks in advance!
LoveBeingAMommy
11-04-2006, 12:10 PM
L&D Nurse, Prenatal vitamins can make you nauseous. If you're taking them during the day, try taking them at night right before you go to bed. That should help. :)
QOTD: I take the Target brand of PNVs.

sorry I have been MIA all week with severe sickness, I ended up at the hospital Tuesday evening for dehydration and even on the Zofran seem to be throwing up 2-4x a day. Its getting very frustrating and I feel so bad for my 3 year old that I do nothing with since I am sick all the time!
QOTD I was switched to premesis this week and the only difference is it is oderless and small so I can swallo it without throwing up, I am still just as sick and it was expensive. With my DD I took 1 flinstones and a folic acid suplement when I was sick and it worked great.

Hello everyone! Count me in as another one who's tired all the time.
almostthere--Hope you start feeling better soon!
QOTD My prenatals are prescription Ethex (I think that's the drug company) Prenatal Rx 1. I've actually been on them for quite a while and, luckily, they seem to agree with me.
Hope everyone's having a good weekend!
elissa

Hey there all! I can echo what almost everyone is saying, super tired a lot of the time. Particularly starting around 2:30pm in the afternoon, and then at about 6:30pm at night.
As for the prenatals, I take the Naturemade brand from Costco, they seem to work fine for me, but I always take them with something.
I broke down this week and had to tell a couple more people, two of my friends at work. We are friends in and out of work and I just could not keep it any longer, especially since we are headed to a couple of events with them in the next couple of weeks!
Have a great weekend everyone!

QOTD - I take the Target brand of Prenatals too and they work fine for me.
almosthere - I'm so sorry to hear you are going through that. I hope you get to feeling better soon!
Suprisingly, my DH and I haven't told a single soul besides you ladies that we're PG. Not even the parents know. I wanted to wait unti our first u/s and since it turned out fine, I'll tell them on Thanksgiving. They don't live in our state anyways, so I am mailing a picture frame that says 'Baby O.. June 2007' and then it has a picture of the PG test. I'm going to attach a picture of the u/s too. My dad's b-day is the day after Thanksgiving but I'll just have him open it a day early. :) I won't tell anyone else until close to 13 weeks when our next u/s is just to make sure everything is good.
I waited until 9:45 pm last night before I went to bed (and no naps either). 6 am rolls around and I am wide awake. I cannot seem to figure this out. About 3 weeks ago I would sleep until 11 am and now I can't make it past 6. Possibly because I'm PG????

risa00: sorry your sleeping schedule is so off. I've noticed that I've been getting up for work pretty easily (which is not normal for me), but I've also been going to bed very early, so that may have something to do with it.
elissa: Isn't it just fun to share the good news?!?! We told some friends last night and I loved it! For me, I'd rather them know, than try to hide it.
almostthere: Sorry you've been so sick.
daphne: Hope your lunch was ok... I was on the other side of the table (friends all around me getting pregnant) so I know it can be tough...
micd: Glad there is no vomiting yet...I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way for me, too.
magrat: I wouldn't worry about feeling like a bad hostess...if they were busy playing video games, I doubt they even noticed you were gone. Sounds like my dh with the football games.
Yesterday was my b-day and I had such an amazing day. Went shopping with my mom (who lives a few states away from me and I don't get to see very often) and my MIL. We also went to lunch and just did "girl" stuff. Then last night my MIL threw a little dinner b-day party for me and some of our friends. It was great visiting with all of them since we don't get to see them very much after we moved. We told them all about the pregnancy and needless to say they were thrilled for us. It was so much fun telling them and it feels so much better letting them know instead of hiding it from everyone.
I also called both of my grandmothers to let them in on the big secret. They were so happy! Telling is so much fun. I'm still not telling people at work yet or other friends, but it feels great letting others know our good news.
One other wonderful thing that happend was that I got a laptop for my b-day. Now when DH is traveling or working from home, I can still have access to the internet, my email, and CC. I'm so excited!!!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

GA_GAL~ Happy belated birthday! I'm glad your day was so great. Congrats on the laptop - yippee!
Happy B-Day (yesterday) GA_GAL!!! It sound like you had a great time and that is awesome about the laptop!
QOTD - I take the Prenatal Rx 1 made my Ethex. I have not had a problem. I was actually told to not take them in the evening to avoid constipation, and of course to take them with food and lots of water.
We have told just about everyone, except my co-workers. DH could not hold it in and wanted to tell everyone in his squadron. I want to wait until I'm about 10 weeks to tell my work.
Have a great Sunday everybody!

Hope everyone had a good weekend.
GA_Gal Happy belated birthday. Glad you had such a good day!
QOTD I take prescription prenatals. They are Primacare. I guess I never even thought about taking OTC ones. Maybe I should switch. They have to be less expensive than these.
Didn't do much this weekend. Napped quite a bit. And unpacked some more stuff. I also dug out some of my maternity clothes to see what all I had. DH was cracking me up. He was so excited about the clothes. He was like "I remember this shirt, why don't you wear it to the dr's tuesday." I told him that I don't think I'm quite ready to start wearing maternity clothes yet. But it was cute anyway.
New QOTD: Anyone having any wierd dreams yet?
Last night I had some dream about DS (who is almost 5) driving my car. I apparently set the cruise control for him and told him to drive home alone. After he got down the road, I freaked out and try to chase him and couldn't catch him. He ended up crashing the car and was taken away from me. It was very strange and very vivid. I don't usually remember dreams, but I seem to be more and more. Anyone else?

MexicoBride, I'm glad your first appointment went well. I'm so sorry they didn't do an u/s! I wonder why some docs are so hesitant to do them. I hope that I can convince mine that I should have another one this Friday! My boobs still aren't sore at all, but they have definitely grown. DH loves it. ;)
Sarah, what kind of stuff are you doing at your house? Good work on resting up this weekend. Did you find some good maternity clothes leftover? I started buying a couple of things but haven't worn anything yet. Although I think I'll need to pretty soon!
Cosmogirl, wow, maternity leave already?! What kind of job do you have? I'm glad you're home now and hope you can get everything done for school quickly!
micd, I hope the throwing up never hits you!
magrat and risa, I'm jealous of your naps! I've been doing a lot of relaxing after work, and then going to bed by 10. A couple extra hours would be nice, tho!
daphne, how was brunch?
almostthere, oh, no, I am so sorry to hear that! I truly hope it gets better for you soon.
em1126, hi!
elissa, I know that feeling. It is so hard not to tell the world, and we've already told way more people than I ever wanted to. Four more weeks and then we'll shout it from the rooftops. :)
risa, that's a really sweet way of telling your folks! I'm sorry you can't sleep late these days. That must be awful. I get up at 6 during the week, but definitely need to stay in bed till 8 or 9 on weekends.
GA GAL, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! I'm glad you had such a good day! What an awesome gift! I love my laptop!
QOTD, I take a generic brand I bought at WalMart. I usually take it with a meal or at night before bed and haven't noticed any problems with nausea, at least not directly related to that.
QOTD 2, I definitely have been having very vivid dreams, but I don't always remember them and some of them are pretty mundane.
We had a nice weekend. My best friend was in town, so we did some shopping. I'm not buying much yet, but I think soon I'll need to get some things. I did buy a pair of maternity shorts on clearance at the Gap for $5 and I asked her to buy these onesies for me (I still feel funny buying anything for the babies yet, but I didn't want to not get these since they were already on clearance):
http://www.gap.com/Asset_Archive/GPWeb/Assets/Product/409/409362/main/gp409362-00p01v01.jpg
Yesterday we had dinner with DH's entire family and it was so hard not to tell! I'm in my bigger jeans now and definitely am looking a little heftier than usual, so I just sat quickly and then took off my coat and stayed seated pretty much the entire time! The next time we all get together for our family holiday party will be in a few weeks and we'll tell them all then.
Tonight DH and I are going to a concert and I'm hoping I'll be able to stay awake for it! I think I might close my office door after lunch and take a little nap on my desk. :p

I'm a vet. In Canada when your job is hasardeous to your baby, they give you a maternity leave right away. It was my case last time with DS, and once again this time :D THANK GOD. I'm so exhausted, I don't know how I would have done it!!!
QOTD YES, I'm not able to sleep because of those. I remember that was painful with DS, and it seems that is has started again...

Hi there! I am finally getting around to joining this thread. I wish I would've joined earlier but I was so scared I was going to jinx things.
As you might notice above, we were NOT trying for this baby, we were actually preventing. I was on WC a long time ago when we were trying for our son and was in the "Still At It..." thread due to my PCOS. It was hell to get pregant with DS and honestly, I never knew I could have a surprise baby. ;-)
I am feeling pretty good other than tired and nauseous. I haven't gotten sick but the nauseous feeling is there and that sucks.
I have had an u/s already and everything is just fine. The baby has a heartbeat and is forming well.
Ok, wanted to check in and then can start with the regular posting. :-)

Suzette Welcome & congrats! Glad to have you with us!
Cosmogirl so sorry you are feeling sick. Hopefully you will feel better soon.
gymwidow We just moved in about a month ago, but there was so much work to be done. Most of the big projects are done now, so I'm trying to get some stuff unpacked. Most of our stuff has been in storage. So we are slowly bringing it home and unpacking it. The only bad thing about it is it feels like we are going to be in the middle of moving forever. As for maternity clothes. I found a lot more than I thought I had. Although I'll have to buy all new stuff for the summer. As DS was born in Dec. I didn't have much for the summer. Oh well, I've pretty much got winter and spring covered. Those onsies are so darn cute.
DH is already talking about starting to set up the baby's room. I don't really want to yet. But we have to get the crib and stuff out of storage, since we don't want to keep the storage unit much longer. There really isn't anywhere else to put it. But I'm just not ready to set anything up yet. I'm trying to push him back as much as possible. I'm so excited! I FINALLY have my first appointment tomorrow. I need to make a list of questions to ask... mostly about VBAC. I would appreciate any suggestions on what all I need to ask about. Thanks!

Gymwindow - That outfit is the absoulte cutest! I've seen some really cute ones that say something about being a pair. I think RedEnvelope had them. I know it is super hard to not tell anyone. There's no history of twins in our family, so this is a complete surprise. Here's a picture of our very healthy babies:

Suzette, welcome! Congrats on your surprise!!!
Sarah, I understand! When we first moved into our house we had so much to do. We even gutted and redid the kitchen (and I lived with a microwave and toaster in the dining room, and used the half bath for my sink!) and it sucked. Since then we've repainted every single room inside the house and done misc. other projects. I'm glad you're nearing the end! I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow!

Congrats on your twins LovebeingAMommy!
Welcome, SuzetteW!
As for me, I am so tired tonight. I had a hectic day today at work - I had a patient with twins that went really fast in labor and we almost didn't make it to the OR for delivery (we deliver all term or near-term twins in the OR, just in case baby #2 flips at the last minute). So I am off to sleep for at least 12 hours.... have a good night, June Mommies!
LoveBeingAMommy - Wow congrats!! That is so awesome! My mom had twins, and so did DH's mom, so everyone always jokes with us that we will have them too.
Cosmogirl - What a great job! That is so great about the maternity leave!
SuzetteW - Welcome and congratulations!
gymwidow - Love the onesie! Good luck on getting your leave!

LoveBeingAMommy: Congrats on the twins. I can't believe we have two mom's expecting twins in this thread...very exciting.
Sarah6690: My first OB apt. is tomorrow, too! Can't wait to compare stories.
magrat: I was thinking the same thing when I saw the July 2007 thread.
SuzetteW: Welcome!
Cosmogirl: Lucky you for getting to be on maternity leave the entire time. I'm jelous!
I had a little scare this evening. I got home from work and was feeling a pressure/cramping feeling around my uterus. I took my dog for a walk and it seemed to get worse so when I got home I just sat around and watched TV. Then it felt better so I decided to do a little more exercising (leg lifts, lunges, etc.) but it really started hurting again so I stopped right away. I haven't had any bleeding or anything, but I'm still nervous as to what I'm feeling. I go to my OB for the first time tomorrow afternoon, so I'll talk to him about it, but has anyone else felt anything like this? I feel a little comforted b/c I was really sick this morning, cried while watching my recording of Desperate Housewives and almost threw up while making dinner...hopefully all still good pregnancy signs.
Thanks for all of the birthday wishes everyone!

GA_GAl - I am a member of the May mommies thread, but saw your post and wanted to respond. I'm 10 weeks, 6 days today and have had some cramping. I had fairly bad cramping/pain around 9.5 weeks. It was in the center of my abdomen and was throbbing. Lasted for what seemed like a long time. I went to the doctor and they checked the baby, everything was good.
Here's what they told me: As long as you don't have bleeding you should be OK, but report any unusual pain even without bleeding. Also, if you are experiencing pain, my doctor said to take it easy the rest of the day/not exercise, even if it begins to feel better.
I hope that everything is OK!

Thanks for all the well wishes. DH and I are still in shock. We thought we were all ready for this one after having our DD, but now we have to go get one more each of the baby gear. We told my parents last night, and my Mom cried. We're telling my DH's parents tonight.

L&D Nurse, congrats on making to the double digits! I hope you got a good night's sleep.
micd, thanks!
GA GAL, we had another challenge last night at dinner with friends who don't know! Although DH told me this morning that the female half of the couple guessed that we are (he said he gave a "no comment" answer)! I've had some cramping like that in the last week. One of my books actually listed it as a symptom in Week 8 - it said it's the uterus starting to expand. A mommy friend of mine IRL said it sounded like round ligament pain. I haven't had any spotting or anything and it's not constant or severe, so I haven't been worried, but it's on my list of things to ask my OB about on Friday.
LoveBeingAMommy, I just want to say congrats again. I'm so excited for you guys and glad to hear that you're getting used to the idea! The girls on the Multiples thread highly recommend the Dr. Luke book on twins, and I'm reading Cheryl Lage's book "Twinspiration" right now and enjoying it.
The babies went to their first concert last night and had a blast. :D Unfortunately, we didn't get home till well after midnight and I'm exhausted today, which is exacerbating my queasiness. I really want to just put my head down and rest for a bit!

I finally get to go to my first appointment today. I'm very excited. With all the twin talk going on here... I had a dream that I was having them too! It was pretty scary for me. Anyway, DH is taking me out to lunch, then on to the dr. I'll update you all tomorrow.
GA_Gal Good luck to you today!

LoveBeingAMommy - CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is crazy and awesome all at the same time! You certainly are going to have your hands full but it will be so much fun!

QOTD(yesterday) - Weird dreams? SEVERAL and it's so weird. Like real people in my life and situations and everything. I don't recall having this many with DS but maybe it's just been too long for me to remember.
***********
If this is your second(or thereafter) pregnancy, are you finding that you're showing much sooner this time? I started this pregnancy about 25lbs lighter than when I was pregnant with DS but man, I don't think I can last more than a couple more weeks in regular clothes but I don't want people thinking I am silly either, ya know? Maternity clothes are some of the most comfortable clothes under the sun but I am in no rush to go out and buy all new stuff.
Ok, that's it. :-)

I finally get to go to my first appointment today. I'm very excited. With all the twin talk going on here... I had a dream that I was having them too! It was pretty scary for me.
I had a million dreams last night and one of them was that I had my first ultrasound and it was twins. That was a nightmare :o I woke up and couldn't sleep for ages because it freaked me out so much.
I had my first appointment today! I know some of you have some first appointments are a non-event, but not mine! Wow. I got there at 9:20 (10 minutes early) and they took me and DH back right away. First was the ultrasound. They used the external one first and pretty much as soon as she put it down the baby came up on the screen. I was impressed by how easily she found it. She couldn't get as clear of an image as she wanted that way, so then she pulled out the internal one. OMG. It looked like a giant dildo with a condom on it, very intimidating looking :o She got some better shots that was. It measured 3 days ahead of where I thought it should be and the heartbeat was 180 bpm and everything looked good. DH got to see much more than me because of the angle of the monitor so I was glad he was there. So my new due date is June 16th. Then we waited a bit and then talked to the nurse who went over a few things and some paperwork with us. Then we went into an exam room and I stripped and waited for the midwife...for like 20 minutes. Not too fun. When she finally got there she went over more medical history stuff, what we're thinking of doing for the birth and after. Then she did a physical exam and a pap. She said I should have my thyroid checked because my skin is dry (that sounded pretty crazy to me, it's only dry in a few spots and only in winter, but she said it was an easy test to add to the other bloodwork they do.) She also needed to test me for hep C because it's a requirement for water birth, so I needed blood drawn again  So I went to see the nurse again and this time she did an even better job (jab?) and I hardly felt it. Ended by making an appointment for next month: December 5th. And we left after being there around 2 hours. It was a marathon, really. DH is going to scan the ultrasound pic for me to post. It's pretty funny looking actually, because of the spots where the brain is developing it looks like a smiley face or something. I hope everyone else's appointments are going well today! We've been pretty lucky in this thread so far.

Suzette, this is only my 1st pregnancy, but I already feel like I'm ballooning out. I can't wait to get into maternity pants and just let my growing belly out!
magrat, AWESOME appointment! I'm so excited for you! Glad you got to hear and see the little guy! That dildocam is quite the instrument. DH freaked out the first time he saw that thing. I never minded it, except right in the middle of AF - just too icky then! I'm really happy that you had a good experience! :D

DH freaked out the first time he saw that thing.
I was very impressed (but I suppose unsurprised) with DH. He wasn't remotely phased by anything, he was even there when they did the pap. That was kind of weird, but at least I know he won't be squeamish at the actual birth!

magrat: Glad you had a great apt. Funny that your DH was fine with everything. I was used to the vaginal u/s b/c of seeing a fertility specialist and the first time DH was in there for that he couldn't beleive that was how they did it! We have the same EDD!
gymwidow: Thanks for letting me know about the cramping feeling. Today my OB said that as long as it stopped and I didn't have any bleeding, that I souldn't worry. What concert did you see last night?
suzfuzsunflower: Thanks for commenting. That pain pretty much went away after last night and when I saw my OB today, he said as long as it stopped and I didn't have any bleeding I was OK. I think I over analyze everything and worry about every little feeling. Good to know that others have felt the same thing. Hope you are still doing well!
LoveBeingAMommy: Have fun telling your in-laws the good news tonight!
My first OB apt. was this afternoon and it went great. I'm seeing a new dr. that came highly reccomended by a friend and he was really nice. I had to wait a while, but the apt. itself went pretty quickly. He came in and answered all my questions, did an exam, gave me a packet of info and papers to fill out for next time and sent me on my way. Since I already had an u/s with the fertility specialist I won't have another scheduled one until 18-20 w. Also, he said next time we'd get to listen for the heartbeat. My next apt. is Dec. 7th.

Hmmm... anyway catch that title? I went from 10w to 11w in about an hour. The baby is measuring farther ahead than I thought. So my new due date is May 29. I think I might check in with the May Mommies, but would anyone mind too much if I stayed here too? Also my next appointment is Dec 8. Okay, now that I got all of that out of the way. Our appointment yesterday went great. First we had the ultrasound. By the way, DH was totally freaked out by the dildo cam as well. Didn't bother me a bit though. Had it with DS, but I think he missed that appointment. His reaction was quite humorous. As soon as I get my scanner hooked up, I'll post the pictures. (may be awhile though). The only thing that I was dissapointed about was that I can't see the midwife that I had my appointment with because I've had a c-sect before. I really really liked her too. Oh well, the OB I'll be seeing comes highly recommended. The midwife thinks my chances for a VBAC are just about as good as anyone who's having their first child. Especially since I never went into labor last time. Oh, I forgot to add that the heartbeat was 179.
magrat Congrats on the great appointment. That's a great u/s picture.
GA_Gal I'm glad your appointment went well too.

I've been MIA lately. We traveled last weekend to see my ILs. The weekend was nice and we got to surprise them with the big news. We made a shirt for DD announcing her Big Sister status and sides were very excited with it. I made it into a Thanksgiving card and sent it out to family we won't see until Christmas (brothers, grandparents, etc.). I'll post a picture of it soon.
Sarah6699, GA_Gal and Magrat So glad to hear your appts went well. Magrat, we now share a due date as well. Looks like its a popular day! Sarah, you're definitely welcome to stay here as well as May-I know we'd all love to still have you around. :)
LoveBeingAMommy What a surprise! Has the reality of twins set in yet? I'm sure you're very excited.

I'm definitely showing sooner than last time! All the sudden I hit 8 weeks and nothing fits. I had read (on another thread on here) that you show sooner for the 2nd but I didn't believe it until I couldn't button my pants all weekend (and of course we were traveling so I couldn't find more comfortable pants in the closet!). I've already broken out the transition pants (which I didn't wear last time until atleast 10-12 weeks...and only because they were more comfortable). I'm thinking of getting one of those Bella Bands so I can still wear my favorite jeans and pants for a while longer. Glad to know I'm not the only one noticing this. I'm going to need some winter maternity clothes sooner than I had hoped.

Cute pic, magrat! BTW, who/what is that in your avatar?
It's Rimmer from an episode of Red Dwarf (a British comedy). Rimmer goes crazy and dresses up in a gingham dress and army boots and takes orders from a penguin hand puppet named Mr. Flibble. The quote in my sig is from the same episode.

Okay, that was thoroughly off topic :) But I do think it's a good idea for us to find out a little more about each other besides baby stuff. So here's a QOTD: Tell us a little about yourself!
I'm a big britcom fan. My username is a character from Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels. My husband and I were internet penpals in the early days of the internet (started writing in '95 when I was 16 and he was 15). He's from Cornwall, England and we didn't start dating until after we finished HS and we met in person for the first time. I studied abroad in Edinburgh during college and travelled up and down the country every few weeks to see him. We got engaged after college and I moved to London to do a masters degree. The original plan was to live in the UK, but I felt so poor and alone there and it seemed like we would never own a home or a car if we stayed (probably not true, but it happened much faster once we moved to the US than it would have had we stayed). I consider myself very liberal, am an atheist (raised Catholic), and have an opinion about everything :) I have a huge family, but am an only child - my mom took fertility drugs to have me, which I only found out recently.

Isn't it great being further along than you thought? I was sure I would be less far along, so it was a big surprise when they told me three days ahead! I was so relieved not to have to repeat days :) Of course you can stay here, I think it's good to belong primarily to one thread just for the community sake, and babies come when they want to anyway.

magrat - Great u/s pic!
Sarah - That's awesome.. I would love to find out that I'm further along than I thought. :) And of course we want you to still stay here in this thread. Silly!
Ok, I was a little freaked out by the dildo cam. I looked at it and looked at the nurse and said 'Is that whole thing going inside me?' Luckily she said no otherwise I would have fainted... it was mighty big!
I'm stuck at home by myself and the pets. It's been flooding in the Pacific Northwest and I called my husband yesterday and told him to leave work before all of the roads into our town were floaded. Did he listen to me? Of course not. He leaves work at normal time and of course there's no more ways to get to our house. We're on high land so we don't have flooding here, but just on the roads to get here. Unfortunately I just looked at the webcams and the water doesn't seem to have gone down any so I don't know when he'll be able to come home. *sigh*

Magrat I think it's a great idea for us to get to know a little bit about each other. I'm pretty boring. Let's see I got pregnant at 19 and had my son at 20. Although very bad timing and not getting to do all the things that I wanted to do, I wouldn't change it for anything. The question I get asked a lot (nosy people) "is he DH's son?" Yes. We had been dating a VERY brief time when it happened. But even though there were a lot of rough times, we managed to stay together. We got married in June of 2005. That is one thing I would change. If I could have eloped, I would have. DH's family came very close to ruining the whole wedding. Although we now get along, they are very controlling and vindictive. Anyway, let's see... my job title is secretary, even though that doesn't begin to cover what I do. Inside sales would be closer, but oh well. I would love to someday go back to school so that I could get a job I liked. Actually what I really want to do is be a stay at home mom, but I don't see that happening. We just bought a house about a month ago that needed some work. It's getting there, but it's frustrating because I just want to get settled in a comfortable. Alright, that's about all there is to me. Nothing too exciting. Sorry to dissapoint.:p
Risa I hope your DH gets home soon and safetly.
Suzette I am definately starting to show sooner, I already have a belly. I don't mind though. I'm down to 2 pairs of pants that fit. One won't last much longer. But I'm not ready for maternity clothes.
Thanks everyone! I'm definately not going anywhere. I may check in with the May mom's from time to time, but this is where I'm staying!

magrat, I'm so proud of your DH! The first time mine saw a speculum go into me, his eyes got huge and he gripped my hand. (nevermind that I was the one it was stuck into!) He's used to all those instruments now, though, and just makes sure he doesn't get it the doc's way. Your little alien is adorable! :D
GA GAL, we saw the Barenaked Ladies. They're one of my favorite bands and we had a great time. The put on a good show! I'm glad your OB appointment went well and that you liked him.
Sarah, wow, what a way to lose time! That's great, though. You're right around the corner from the 2nd tri now. :) I'm sorry you couldn't see the other midwife, but glad you hear that your VBAC chances are good. Please do stay with us!!!
DnJ, yay, that sounds like it was fun! What does your DD think of being a big sister soon? I'm going to start shopping for maternity clothes this weekend. I just want to get one pair of pants and a couple of tops. I won't start wearing the tops till we leave for vacation in 2 weeks (still trying to hide my belly here at work for now), but I want to have them ready to go.
risa, I hope the rain lets up soon! When will husbands learn to listen to us b/c we're usually right?!?! ;)
QOTD, (good one!). Let's see....... I'm a tv-aholic. I watch so much. I had gotten down to about a half dozen shows in the last year, but am back up to about 15 now! Thank goodness I got DVR this year. I also love to read, mostly nonfiction. I'm reading John Danforth's "Faith and Politics" right now and also about 3 different pg books, plus I have a WWII book (I read a lot of WWII history) waiting at the library for me. I also love crafty stuff - stitching, baking, scrapbooking. I think it's rebellion against my boring desk job. As for background stuff, DH and I have been married almost 3 1/2 years, but we've been friends for 8 and together for 7 1/2. We were best friends before we started dating. :) I'm really close with my parents and younger brother, even though we all live at opposite ends of the country.
I feel tremendously fat today. :( I feel like I look pregnant, but that my belly is just fat instead. Sigh. I got on the scale and I'm up 8 lbs since the day I started my IVF stims shots, so I guess that's not bad and is even pretty close to on track for the weight I'm supposed to gain for twins, but still..... I just wish my belly would get that nice rounded firm look of a pg one. Then I think I'd be okay!
Other than that, I'm feeling pretty good. The nausea seems to be lessening a bit? (wishful thinking) RO's, does it start to lighten up before the 2nd tri hits? That would be great!

L&D Nurse - outside of Seattle. I just heard one road to our city opened up so DH is heading home.
We had some contractors out at our house yesterday working on the carpet and when I got home they were gone. I assumed they made it out but when I spoke with the company, they said they were stuck in our town and heard from them at 2:30 am. They weren't happy campers. The problem where we live is there isn't any hotels or any place to crash if you get stuck. We do have a couple restaurants and a grocery store, but that's about it. Oh well.. hopefully they left now. :)
QOTD- I'm originally from Texas and met my husband at work. Because it was around the time of the layoffs a few years back, they let our R&D department go so we both were out of a job. He got one up here in Seattle and we moved here. We've been married for over 3 years and plan to stay in this area. I love to cook (use to before I got PG :)), work out (again before I got PG), crochet, quilt, surf the internet ALOT, and garden. I have 2 chihuahuas and a cat. For work I'm a technical recruiter and love working in staffing. If anyone wants to find a fun job, staffing is the place to be.

Sarah: congrats for being further then you thought! That is quite cool!
Magrat: thanks for that explaination, it didn,t make any sense to me either :p
Showing early: I'm not showing, but I do wear my pants unbuttoned the whole day because the waist digs in my belly. Very uncomfy. I also want to have these belly elastic band so that I can keep using my pants longer then what it seems I'll be able to. Anybody know where to get those??
M/S def easier then my last pregnancy. Some days it is bad, others not that bad. As long as I eat regularly, I'm fine. I'm tired though, it is crazy, and I SO don't sleep well.
Everything is going well, but I'm still nervous as I didn,t get an U/s to confirm that everything is great since I spend a weekend at the ER. Hoping that everything is fine. Might call tomorrow to see if it is possible to have one
Off to bed ladies, have a great night!:D

risa00: Hope your hubby is able to make it home soon...I can't believe there has been so much rain in your area.
Sarah6690: So happy for you and glad that you are a week further than you thought. That has to be fun! I wish I was a week further...
DnJ2002 : What a fun way to share your news. I can't wait to see the picture of your Thanksgiving card.
gymwidow: I'm a tv-aholic, too! I LOVE my dvr and don't know what I'd do without it. Did you see the Bachelor this week? Mine didn't record it on Monday and I'm dying to know what happened. Speaking of feeling fat...I do too! None of my pants are fitting me and I'm just sick of it. I want to start wearing maternity pants, but I'm a little concerned that I've gained so much wait so far. However, before getting pregnant I worked out so much and ate a very low cal/low fat diet, so I think just letting myself be "normal" is causing me to gain the weight early on. My stomach seems fat, but I can tell my butt and legs are getting bigger too. sigh...
DnJ2002: This is my first pregnancy, and I'm still having trouble fitting in my clothes at 8 w 4 d. I'm going to make the transition to maternity clothes sooner than later.
QOTD- : DH and I are high school sweethearts and originally from Atlanta, GA. We both with to UGA and are huge football fans (anyone else familiar with the SEC will understand). We moved to Orlando, FL a little over a year ago for his job. It was a tough move since we were both born and raised in Atlanta, but we've adjusted pretty well. I'm a teacher and love first grade, although I'm very excited to be a stay at home mom after this school year. I love working out (before getting pregnant) and I like to think that I'm quite crafty. I enjoy home decorating, scrapbooking, sewing, etc. I hope to make a lot of the bedding and curtains for the nursery.
My pants are all getting very tight and I feel so fat right now. My stomach feels squishy, but I feel like my butt and thighs are getting huge. I started as a slim/trim/toned size 4 before all of the fertility drugs (about a year ago), then gained about 10-15 lbs. and got up to a 6, but now those are defintiely not working for me. I bought some size 8 jeans this past weekend and thank goodness for stretchy pants and skirts (gauchos, peasant skirts, etc.). Part of me wants to think that I need to slow down on the weight gain, but the other part of me says that I'm pregnant and I can't exactly be dieting. Plus, it is hard when the only foods that sounds good to me are not the healthiest. I tried on some of my friends maternity clothes this evening and can't wait to make the transition.

Hello everyone, I wanted to let you guys know that 95% of my posting is done at work so I just can't manage doing a lot of SO's. I think my boss might frown on that! :D But I promise that I read EVERYTHING! :) Please don't think I am ignoring you guys! You are all a million times nicer, calmer, more down to earth than the first mommy group I was a part of! You are all so great!!! I mean, I haven't seen a single person say "you can't possibly be feeling that way, you are only (fill in the number) weeks!" Ha! I am so happy to be here!
Sarah6690 - congratulations on gaining a week! That must feel so great! But, please don't leave our group! You are great! And the same to any other moms who are thinking of joining another group just in case, don't leave us completely! :) The more the merrier here!
gymwiddow - I would love to see BNL! I am glad you had such a good time.
About me! - I am a 26 y.o. Biochemist. That sounds really impressive, no? ;) It really isn't. :p I work in a lab as a lab manager/manuscript writer. I am really lucky to have my job. My boss hand picked me, and I have a lot more ability to control the outcome of things in the lab than most people with a Bachelors Degree are allowed. My boss really wants me to get my PhD, but I just don't think I have the heart for it. I have been married for 2.5 years. My husband is a 33 y.o. CPA who works for a telecommunications company. He always tells me he married a younger woman so I can take care of him when he is old and grey, which he claims will be very soon. :) We have a dog named Layla (see avatar). DH and I joke all the time that she is going to HATE the baby. She is definitely a lap dog, and she is going to miss all the attention. I am 5'10" with very long legs and arms so I am really worried about finding maternity clothes that fit! If any of you ladies have similar problems we can commiserate and share info!(Wow I have written a lot!) I guess I should add that I don't have a lot of hobbies. DH and I like to hang out and watch TV, and I like to read fiction...but not so much chic-lit. I love professional football...okay I will stop now!

risa00 - We live about 45 minutes south of Seattle! Can you belive the rain! It's insane. It hasn't effected us that much here, but I was amazed at how many schools have been closed. I also heard that Mt. Rainier is all closed down.
QOTD - It's very interesting to hear about other people. I have always been leary about sharing things over the internet (no offense to any of you!), that's why I don't share my name. But I will say a little bit. DH and I have been married for 3 1/2 years. I have wanted a baby for a loooong time, but he just wasn't ready, until recently. He is in the military. We really love the Pacific Northwest, but will probably be moving again in about two years. I am a first grade teacher and really enjoy it. We are planning on me staying home while our kids are young, so I won't be going back to work next year. We have a chocolate lab named Lucy (she's insane, but I adore her!). I enjoy working out, hiking, being outside, watching TV and movies, and reading. Speaking of TV, Lost is about to start so I must leave now :)
Have a great night!

micd We have a chocolate lab too! Her name is Hershey, yeah it's cheesy, but on our way to pick her up, we saw the Hershey Kiss Mobile.
http://www.savvycenter.com/explorer/articles/HKMprofile2.jpg
So how could we resist? Along with her, our pug, 2 cats, some fish, and a four year old, it's a zoo! Did you watch LOST last night? I can't believe we have to wait until Feb. for more. But at least it's 16 weeks when it does finally come back. :p
Cosmogirl let me know if you find those belly bands. I saw a website that had them awhile ago, and now I can't figure out where it was.
daphne hope you are feeling better today!
StacieLady I'm the same as you. Almost all of my posting is at work. So in the mornings is when I can actually do SO's because my boss usually isn't here yet.
Ga_Gal I've decided not to worry too much about weight gain this time. I'm pregnant, it may the the last time, and I'm going to enjoy it, no matter what. Plus, having a baby at the time of year we are, that's perfect for going on long walks and stuff outside. So, I'll worry about it later.
As for me, DH is not being very understanding about why I want to try for a VBAC. He thinks it would just be easier to schedule a c-sect. He must be crazy. I know people who have had an easy recovery from it, but I was definately not one of them. His best friend's wife had a baby 2 months ago, and 2 weeks later she was back at the gym. Now, after 2 weeks I still couldn't even stand up straight. He keeps telling me to be open minded about what the dr has to say, but I told him that if they aren't willing to let me try (which I'm pretty sure they will) then I am switching drs. There is no reason why I shouldn't be able to have one. It wasn't like I went into labor and couldn't do it, or didn't progress or anything. I never even went into labor! Anyway, sorry for the rant... it is just really frustrating that he doesn't understand why I would rather go through hell and back then have another c-sect. Don't get me wrong, if it is necessary then fine... but I really want to be able to experience a vaginal birth and feel like I was part of the process. Can you tell I haven't been sleeping well lately? Hope everyone has a good day.

Sarah, thanks, that's VERY good to know. Other than my morning commute, which is always a little dicey, I've been feeling much better later in the day. See my post to Cosmogirl below about the belly band I have. I'm sorry your DH isn't being more understanding about the VBAC. IMHO, it's your body and you're the one going through L&D and recovery and you should get to choose however you want (unless a C/S is necessary of course, which you seem to understand perfectly!) and all our DH's should just say "Yes, dear" when we tell them how we want things to go!
risa, wow, Texas to Seattle is quite a change! I moved north when I was 20 and I guess I've gotten used to it, but it's definitely a lot different.
Cosmogirl, oh, yeah, I only have one pair of pants that I actually do up all the way now. I bought a belly band at Motherhood Maternity for about $15 I think. It works well! I hope you can get an u/s just to check. It's so hard not to get nervous about things!
GA GAL, seriously, my tv habit is so bad now! Can you believe I've never actually seen an episode of the Bachelor? Or Survivor. Or Amazing Race. The only reality type show I watch is Extreme Home Makeover. And the MTV ones. Those are my guilty pleasure shows. I love them! I think you and I started out in much the same position - I was a size 4 before IF treatment and was up 15 lbs and mostly wearing 6's and even a couple of 8's when we found out we were pg. Last weekend I bought a pair of size 10 jeans just to get me through the next month - I need a belt with them right now, but I don't think that will last for long! I used to follow the WW plan and worked out 5 days a week and now none of that is happening! It definitely doesn't help that I eat mostly carbs right now since that's what seems to make my tummy feel best. I hope that as the 2nd tri hits I can start eating a little better and I plan to ask my OB tomorrow about what exercise I can and should do. And this weekend I'm caving in and buying a couple of pairs of maternity pants. :) BTW, I totally understand SEC football! I went to UF. :D My best friend lives in Orlando.
Stacie, this was our 2nd time seeing BNL and I can't wait to see them again. It sounds like you like your job - that's great. Not a lot of people can say that. We also have a small lap dog who gets very jealous when anyone other than her gets attention and I worry a lot how she'll deal with the babies. I really hope she calms down some and adjusts. I guess time will tell. I have a good friend who's 5'11" and was pregnant recently, so I'll ask her where she got her maternity clothes and see if I can get some recommendations to pass on to you! I have the opposite problem - I'm only 5'2" (on a good day) and hope I'll be able to find stuff short enough for my little legs.
daphne, I hope you feel better soon!
micd & Sarah, oooh, I love chocolate labs. That's going to be our next dog.
I am so ready for a weekend. Today has been one of those days that just needs to be over already. Hopefully the afternoon will fly by and I can be home soon on my sofa with my dog and cat. Tomorrow we have our first OB appointment and both DH and I are going to just work from home afterwards. I'm looking forward to sleeping in!

gymwidow--I'm afraid I'm not going to be as good as you with all the SOs, but I'll try! Good luck with your OB appt. tomorrow and enjoy sleeping in! :)
Sarah--I hope your DH starts to see your side of things with the VBAC.
micd--I love Lost, too, but last night I was so darn tired, I couldn't even stay awake for all of it! I knew I should have taken a nap beforehand. . . oh, well, I think I caught the highlights.
daphne--Hope you're feeling better!
QOTD I am 28 yrs old (soon to be 29) and currently living east of Orlando, FL. My DH and I both grew up on Ohio, though, and lived there until last year. My DH is in the military, so this was our first big move away from home. Florida's OK (especially this time of year), but I miss Ohio. I am currently working in real estate, but working on getting my teaching certificate. I'm hoping to start subbing in Jan., so I can at least get some classroom experience before the baby comes. We have a 10 month-old lab/sharpei mix puppy who is ornery as they come! As far as hobbies, I like to read, I like TV (House, Lost, & Grey's Anatomy are my biggies) and I love professional baseball and football. I also like the outdoors.
That's me! It's been fun learning about everyone!

Wow! I had to read a couple of pages back to catch up! You girls have been busy!
Congrats Magrat on your cute little alien :p
Risa You're not too far from me! I'm in Vancouver. We had the same awful rain for days and days. Finally today the sun has come out.
Sorry I don't have time to do all my SO's right now. I'm sneaking on here at work right now!
Nothing much new to report for me. My next appt is on Nov 29th. I am so jealous of all you girls who get to have your ultrasounds early! My doctor said the first one is usually at 16 weeks. I guess I just have to be patient. Can't wait until I see the first pic of my little alien! ha ha.
QOTD I am 29 years old and my DH and I have been together for almost 6 years now and married for almost 1 (Our 1st anniversary is 1 week from this Saturday!) We live in Vancouver, British Columbia. I work in the Travel Industry at a Tour Wholesaler in the Groups department. It's a fun job b/c we get to travel for cheap which is always nice! We have a pug puppy named Marley! He will always be our first baby! :) I love travelling, cooking, scrapbooking and reality tv shows! ha ha.
That's all for now! I will be back! Hope you are all feeling well mommies!! One more day of work and then it's the weekend! YAY!! :D

Gymwidow I was slightly naseuas when I first woke up, but since then I've been fine all day. Chocolate labs are great. I love mine... well, most of the time. now that she's a little older, she is the biggest cuddler ever. She comes to bed with me every night and cuddles before DH comes in.:p The only problem we've had with her is she's a garbage dog. If we leave ANYTHING out, she gets into it. She raided the pantry 3 times since we moved, eating everything she could reach. The door didn't shut tight, so until we fix it, I have to prop something against it when we leave. And if I leave a plastic bag out, she will empty it. It doesn't even have to have food in it. She doesn't chew anything up, just empties it all over. Good luck at your appointment tomorrow. Let us know how it goes.
em too bad you missed part of LOST, it was really good. Kind of a let down at the end. I just want to know what happens next!
MexicoBride I'm jealous that you get to travel for cheap. We never go anywhere, except camping.

risa00: I have an Aunt and Uncle that live outside of Seattle, in Buckley. It's beautiful up there.
Next Appointment: December 4th (forgot to add this to a previous post)
QOTD: I'm a native Floridian and third generation Florida Gator (Go Gators!). Before I had my daughter (she's 2 1/2), I was an elementary school teacher. Most days, I don't miss it, but I did have some really great students. I work for my Dad twice a week, while my daughter stays with my in-laws. I do the accounting and office work. My husband is a CPA, and we'll be celebrating our fourth anniversary next Thursday. We met on a blind date, and his aunt set us up. She actually sat next to me on a flight up to Chicago. We chatted the whole time, and the rest, as they say, is history. The only pets we have are dust bunnies. Fun Fact: My Mom is dying to be on a reality tv show. She was a finalist for Big Brother (Danielle was the girl who got her spot). My parents were finalists, as the Howell's, for Gilligan's Island, and my Dad was a finalist for the King of Vegas. Currently, my Mom is a finalist for a new show and will be traveling next month to be interviewed for that.

em1126, lol, I have a really short attention span at work, so I take breaks into between projects and read and respond to a couple of posts. I keep 'em in an open email until I've gotten through everybody's and then I make one big post. I'm glad you're liking FL okay. Definitely enjoy the weather. :)
MexicoBride, I have a friend who's first u/s is also at 16w. Her doc only does 2 per pregnancy. I looooove pug puppydogs. They are so cute and sweet. I know what you mean about them being our first babies; DH will always think of our dog that way. The cat, not so much, but definitely the dog! ;)
Sarah, I'm glad you feel better! A lab is a big dog to cuddle with! You could use her as your body pillow. :p Our little dog also gets into everything. She will chew a hole in a trash bag to get at what's inside. But she's so cute and gives great snuggles, so it's hard to stay mad at her for long.
LoveBeingAMommy, woohoo! I'm also a native Floridian (I was actually born at Shands!) and am a 2nd generation Gator and the 4th out of 5 in my family to go there, including both parents, my brother, and an aunt. We definitely bleed orange and blue. :D That's really neat about your parents and their reality show escapades! Good luck to your mom next month!

gymwidow, it's nice to have a fellow Gator here. My Grandfather went to UF went it was an all guys school. He said you could lay down in the middle of University Avenue on a Saturday night and not a single car would pass by. My Mom (she and my Dad actually met at a party in Beaty Towers) and Uncle also graduated from there. My Aunt and sister went there for a couple of years and then transferred other schools. We're doing the pre-paid college program for the kids and hope that they will go there, too.
I broke out my transitional pants today. I had been using a ponytail holder (about the size of a rubberband) to extend the button on my pants, but this is much better. They are adjustable, but don't look like maternity pants. If anyone is looking for some, I got them at Target during my last pregnancy. They're also good for after the babies come, and you can't quite fit into regular bottoms, yet.

LoveBeingAMommy: I can't believe your parents are so hard core to get on a reality show...I think it is awesome though. I love, love, love reality TV. You'll have to keep us posted and let us know how her interview goes. I have a question for you. What exactly are transitional pants? I have read that a lot and just figured it was pants that were sizes bigger than you normally wear, but I don't think that is the case. Can you explain?!?
em1126: I'm in Orlando, too! Where do you live? We are in the Conway area, close to downtown. Like you, I miss my old home.
gymwidow: I love learning fun facts about everyone. I think it is neat how we are so similar. Very interesting. Do you still live in FL? I am totally addicted to reality TV. I'm not a Survivor fan, but do love the Bachelor, Amazing Race, Biggest Loser, etc. I like Extreme Home Makeover and love MTV reality shows too. Recently I watched a lot of the Two-a-Days episodes until it went off the air.
Sarah6690: I love the picture of the Kiss Mobile! How funny! I hope you, your DH and your doctors will be able to come to a good agreement.
Last night one of my good friends had her baby and I went to visit her in the hospital today. As I walked up, it was fun to see all of the new parents outside with the nurses preparing to leave and take their new babies home. I tried to imagine myself in their shoes and it just made me smile! It was great visiting my friend b/c I got to see the hospital where I'll be delivering and I was just taking it all in. Holding the sweet little girl for about an hour was amazing. I was also watching my friend lying in bed while all of her family/friends were buzzing around her and trying to imagine me in her place. It was very surreal, but very exciting at the same time.
With everyone talking about their dog, I can't believe I forgot to mention my sweet girl, Sydney. She's a golden retriever and I love her to death. My DH travels a ton for work, so us girls hang out a lot. I just tried to post some pics of her, but it wasn't working...not sure why. They are on snapfish and I followed the directions for posting. I'll have to try again later.

GA GAL, transitional pants are basically regular pants with an adjustable waist (like they make for toddlers). There's no panel or real maternity fit to them. You'd buy your normal size (or one size bigger...sometimes Target clothes can run small, I have found). The waist has elastic in it, so unless you wore a short top, you'd never know they weren't regular pants.

I'm not good at shoutouts because I hate searching to see who said what.
I got a packet from my college's alumni association - my fifth reunion is taking place June 2nd and 3rd. That should be interesting :)
All this talk about maternity clothes and I don't see them in my near future at all. I haven't gained weight and don't look any different at all. My mom never really got big with me, and my midwife said that I have a long torso so that will keep me from getting too big. And she also said at my appointment that at this stage the uterus is the same size as a non-pregnant uterus, so it's definitely going to be a while. I'm fine with that though, I'm not anxious to have to buy a new wardrobe and I don't want to tell the world at large for a while yet.
Wow, lots of people in FL and the Pacific NW!
I do most of my posting at work. Most of the time my job is pretty slow and I have no attention span for it, so I spend a lot of my day browsing. I kind of feel bad about it, but at the same time my boss has never said anything and I get done what I'm asked to do....and I'm not going to make a career out of this job, and will quit when the baby comes, so who cares? :o It's always depressing to get my alumni newsletters to find out what books they've written and what saving the world they've all done. I'm an admin assistant for the Evil Empire (a large bank). I really hope I'm able to do some volunteering or part time for something worthwhile when I'm staying home with the baby, and when I'm ready to go back to work I'll be able to find something a lot better.

LoveBeingaMommy I think that's so great about your parents. They sound like a lot of fun. Good luck to your mom. Let us know how it goes. Transitional pants are great. I just have pants in a larger size. I might be able to get a few more weeks out of them (we'll see) and then I'm going straight into my maternity clothes.
gymwidow I know what you mean about it being hard to stay mad at them for long. My lab is quite big to be a cuddler, but she's good at it. She'll lay on DH's pillow (don't tell him that though ;) ) with her head next to mine until I start to fall asleep, then she'll go to the end of the bed.
The only thing new I have to report is I keep getting really bad headaches. I'm getting them almost daily. I know it's okay to take Tylenol, but how much is okay? And are generics okay to take? Anyone know?
StacieLady
11-10-2006, 10:59 AM
Sarah - Generic Tylenol should be the exact same medicine, so it is fine to take. However, they have recently recalled a lot of store brand acetaminophen (which is what Tylenol is), so make sure you don't have any of that.
I am off work today! Yea! I told my husband I was going to make up for my lack of house work over the past two weeks, but I'm not really feeling it. We will have to see what I actually get done!
I have been very lucky and also think it will be a long while before I need new pants (watch it be tomorrow!). I have a long torso, which I think will help, plus I am pretty tall which I think will help things expand up a little before they have to start moving out. I also haven't had any trouble with...lets say "slow digestion" which I also know is helping. Since I can't buy pants at places like Target (too short) I am glad for this little blessing. However, I will have to be buying some new shirts soon. With my already long torso, these growing boobs, and my propensity for low waisted pants, my shirts are becoming too short VERY quickly! I am pretty sure I won't be able to wear any of my sweaters in a week or two. Any body have to buy "transition shirts"? :D

I have been having queasiness all day today, yuck. I am getting ready for all of this m/s business to be over. I am feeling pudgy around the middle, I don't look pg yet, but my pants are getting tight. I'm going to have to get some bigger pants or some with a small panel probably next week.
Have a great weekend, everyone.

StacieLady thanks for the info on the tylenol. I saw the recall and checked this morning. The one's I have are fine. I had to buy some longer shirts with DS. I'm having the same problem you are. I have pants that sit very low, so those are fine, but my shirts are getting too short. I'm almost glad it's getting cold, because I can get by with some sweatshirts and stuff for now I think.
I have another question. I know that the baby is too small to feel moving yet, but I keep getting this strange pressure right under my ribs on the right side. It feels almost like my last pregnancy when DS's feet or hands or whatever were pushing up. I'm just wondering if maybe it is gas or what? It doesn't hurt, but is slightly annoying.

StacieLady I'm so glad they've been coming out with longer shirts lately, they have been too short for me for years now. I never could understand why the fashion would be for low rise pants and short shirts. I bought a couple long t-shirts at Express this summer and wish I had bought way more, it's so nice not to have to worry about my belly fat hanging out!
Tomorrow is my mom's birthday and I'm going to tell my parents about the baby by giving her that book for Grandmothers. I'm so nervous. DH is so sure they're going to be really happy, but my mom tends to take all news with criticism, so I'm not so sure. She's been dropping hints about grandkids for a while now, and keeps saying she probably won't live that long (lots of cancer in the family). But we also owe them money and she knows we don't have any savings (we have a good income, but have been using all of it to aggressiving pay down our debt). So I'll just have to wait and see. It's been a long time since I've been this nervous. Maybe because it went so badly when I told them I was engaged...
