I had a bit of a humilating experience this morning. I had my first OB appointment and their scale only went to 275 pounds and I maxed it out. I knew I was in that range, but I was so upset because they don't have another one there. I make a point to not weigh myself at home because it upsets me, and so I think I need to go buy a scale for at home so I can weigh myself on my OB appointment days.

Sare79, so sorry about your experience at the docs office. I'm surprised that their scale doesn't go over 275! I hope they at least didn't make you feel bad about it. I know sometimes I'll "the look" from nurses (not at my OB's office, they're all super sweet) about my weight.

Sare~ I am so sorry about your experience at the OBs! I cannot believe they do not take into consideration larger patients and have a regular scale that measures to 350- as I believe our doc's office does. Did you say anything to your OB directly? I am so sorry because I can imagine that is so embarassing. :( (((HUGS)))

Sare79- I am so sorrry that happened to you. They really should have scales that go up higher.
I have started putting the weights where I think they should be as soon as I step on the scale and let the nurse make them exact, because I don't want to know what the nurse thinks I weigh (either higher or lower than I am).

sare sorry about the scale situation at the OB. That sucks.
Nothing new here... just increased the metformin to 2 tabs with supper last night, so far no major s/e's... which I'm glad for. Also at my weekly weigh-in at TOPS on Wednesday (after being on the met for a week, walking on lunch break, and watching what I eat) I was down 5.75#! YAY! The Dr would like to see me lose at least 40# before we actively start TTC again so that's a good start in the right direction!

abirney: I go to TOPS also ... I guess you are talking about (taking off pounds sensibly) right? I have been a member for a yr & even though I am preg now I still love the support - This week I actually lost .75 of a lb ... ha ha 1st loss since Jan.

sunshine yup that's the same group! I've been a member for about 3 yrs here, (and treasurer for 2) and a member for about a year where I used to live. It's good for the support and accountability of weekly WI's.

yep, I love the support I get & seeing the people in my group really gives me inspiration that I CAN DO IT .... "IF" I just keep going to the meetings - If I skip a meeting or 2 then I seem to fall off the wagon.

Ugh, I'm sorry. I'm trying to look at the bright side though, in that how will they ever know what you weigh? Seriously, I wouldn't even get on the scale again - which could make that part of the stress of pregnancy much easier. Again, just a thought....

Hi ladies!
Well I think I may have actually O'd a couple days ago! I need one more day of temps and CM to confirm it, but I'm pretty sure I did. That will be the first time I've O'd since last August! FF did give me dotted crosshairs today, but I think they have the day wrong. I think it was Thursday. And while the dr wanted us to hold off on TTC until I lose some wt, we weren't actively trying but we weren't avoiding either... ;) and if I did O then our timing is actually decent. The only thing that worries me is that I'm on CD73, so I'm not sure in how good of shape my lining, etc is. But we'll see what happens! (Yay for metformin! I think it's working!)
Hope everyone else is doing well!

How is everyone doing ?

Hi everyone,
I'm doing fine, think we finally know the gender of this little one, it's a BOY, was on his stomach with his butt at my belly button and his legs tightly closed, but after a jiggle, the tech saw the boy parts.
I go tomorrow to get a ring (sort of a cerclage, but no stitches) put on my cervix, it is open slightly and shortened a bit. Just praying we make it at least 15 more weeks, when I will be 37 weeks with a term baby. On modified bedrest the last 2 days, after I get the ring, was told I will still have to rest as much as possible, but will see how strict I have to be.
I have a wedding next Saturday, another one the Friday after, Vacaton Bible school starts July 17-21 and my baby shower will probably be the end of July, early August. Hubby would like to go to the Big E fair up in Mass. this Sept, but we will have to see how things are going at that time since I will be about near the end of my pregnancy at that time.

Ericka: awwww a baby boy - It is great to have a son - I would not trade mine for anything Congrats! I knew a girl that had to get that ring thing done - It worked great. Wow I can not believe you are that far along already - seems to be going by pretty quick - well for me that is ... dont know that you'd say the same thing. Sounds like you are going to be busy the next few wks ... take it easy

Things are moving along at a nice pace here... No real issues fortunately and according to the scale at the gym, I have not gained any weight. Next OB appointment is this Friday. I am excited to hear the HB again! :D
Feeling some movement on occasion, which is so neat! I know I did not feel DD this early last time.
We have our big u/s on July 3rd. I plan to drink a Coke or some other super sweet drink before the appointment. Last time, DD would not spread her legs for anything!!! The tech was pushing and jiggling and she was not cooperating. :p Silly girl.
I have a slight feeling it is a boy, but I will be thrilled with either gender! Have one of each would be cool or having a sister for DD would be great, too!
Erika~ congrats again on your boy! good luck with your appointment for the ring.

I did end up buying a scale and I have totally kept my weight in check. I have gained 3 pounds and I am at 16 weeks 4 days. If I can just keep it low, then the doctor isn't too upset. This morning I had another OB appointment and the receptionist asked if I wanted to go weigh inand I said that i was weighing myself at home instead. She asked why and I said that I trusted my scale at home more and that i knew it was accurate. She said she had to see me weigh in, and that was precisely when my OB walked by and said it was fine for me to weigh at home. Thank goodness he walked by then. i din't want to feel embarassed again.

Thanks for the congrats.
Sare - that was rude of her to say anything to you. Glad your doctor walked by just than.
Weight - since I got on the diabetic diet I had dropped 10 lbs in about 3 weeks, since I have been on it for several weeks now my weight is finally at a plateau and I am starting to gain again. I went to a funeral a few weeks ago and the grandfather (he has known me for 15 yrs) said you lost weight. I said actually I lost 20 lbs since Christmas, but slowly gaining it back because I am pregnant, he was ready to cry at the news, he knew we lost my daughter last year. I am closer to 200 than I was last year when I was pregnant with Rebekah which makes me happy. After our son comes will be walking and getting the weight under 200 I pray. Would like to avoid diabetes for the rest of my life and especially in the next pregnancy. At my appt on Monday, I was up 2 lbs in 2 weeks, the doctor is absolutely fine with that. When I went to my family doctor in February, the nurse weighed me and said you lost 10 lbs since we saw you last (that was 2 yrs earlier) and than she had to see me again for that foot thing I had and I was down almost 10 lbs again, she asked if I was still pregnant. I told her I was but on the diabetic diet, she said oh ok, so baby is fine (she was Russian) I told her the baby is great. It was a great feeling knowing that people noticed the weight loss on me.
Michelle - congrats on starting out less this time around. I pray this pregnancy ends healthy with a beautiful little one in February.

Ericka Congrats on the boy! Hopefully that ring will work well for you. Also that's great that people are noticing your wt!
neen good luck at your u/s.
sareGood job on keeping your wt in check. Glad the dr walked by when he did, about the scale there.
Nothing new here... just plugging along CD8. This is my first full cycle on the met so I'm curious to see if I'll O at a reasonable time. (I started the met CD58 last cycle and O'd 2 weeks later.) I'm also down 10.5# since starting it. (5 weeks.) Have my follow-up appt next week with my dr to see how things are going with that, and to WI and go over my b/w results. So I hope he's happy with my progress.

Good luck Dani!
Ladies, I'm 26 weeks pg and have not felt my baby move. I've had a ton of ultrasounds (not for this reason) and he's very active. Every time I go to the dr and they listen to the heart it's great.
At my last appt. (24 weeks) the dr. wanted to see me back in 2 weeks because he wants me to be able to say for sure I've been feeling an active baby.
I didn't worry at first. I know I will trail behind thinner moms, but now I'm getting worried because they are worried. FYI I was 215 to start and am 240 now. Thoughts?
jesseybell
06-23-2006, 11:55 AM
Hula- And they said your placenta was in a place where you should be able to feel the baby? My friend could never feel her baby, but thats because her placenta was in such a position that it was between the baby and her stomach so was acting like a buffer.
I started at 216 and am at 238 now at 34 weeks - I definitely felt my baby later than other people but now she is out of control.
Dani Good luck with the 2ww!
As I said above, I am now at 34 (well now almost 35 weeks). My regular OB wanted me to stick to 25 pounds max for the whole pregnancy but I am to 22 so obviously I will surpass that. I am going to TRY to curb the chocolate ice cream and my daily vending-machine buddy at work is leaving so maybe I will go there less (though I have been getting 3 Muskateer bars lately, so that isn't SO bad). With the baby getting so much bigger my stomach is smaller so for the most part I am eating less, though some days I feel like I could eat everything. Unfortunately I have since gained cellulite in places where I never had it before, but there is nothing I can do about it now.
I am getting anxious to have the baby, but for some reason I am getting really excited to start my post-partum diet/exercise regime (whenever that can be). I used to be SO active but have really sat on my butt for the last 4 years. I want to be a great influence on my daughter.

Jesseybell - Wow, I love what you posted...about getting active again and being a great influence. That's what I want. It scares me that I'm at about the same weight you were at when you got pg. It just scares me to know I will break the 240 range whenever we get PG. Not much I can do about it now anyways...we are finally back to TTCing this month after our chem pg in May. TY for your words...they are inspiring.
Hula - Just sending you hugs that all is well. Keep the spirits up.
Dani - Good luck. I really hope this is your month!!! Keep us posted.

Well, like I said, we are finally getting back to TTCing since our chem pg in May. I'm excited...we just have to get together to actually have some BDing. DH's schedule isn't very allowing but we'll see what we can do.
Hope everyone is well.

This pregnancy I started at 10 lbs less than I was with Rebekah. Than once I started the diabetic diet, I lost another 10 lbs, so by the time I was I guess 12 weeks I was down to 210. Now at almost 25 weeks I am up to 216. Doctor's are fine with the gain, it's not a lot but the baby is growing. He weighs 1lb 7oz as of Tuesday. I told DH when the baby comes I will be hitting the mall (since he is due end of Sept/early Oct, and it will be getting a little chilly to be walking around the neighborhood at that time with a newborn. I want to get below 200 and really start to change things. I want to be able to get on the floor with my son and not be out of breath or my bones cracking everytime. Hubby wants to loss as well, he is staying steady now just under 200, but the scale hasn't moved down anymore. I want to weigh less than him :)
Hard to believe now when I see pics from before I got pregnant with Rebekah that I was in the 220s and than when I was pregnant was at my heaviest of 234. I went for an appt with the family physicians office before my first u/s back in February and the nurse said you lost 10 lbs since we last saw you (I thought to mysef I better had it's been 2 yrs since you last saw me) Than I had to go in for a foot issue and was the same nurse and I was 10 lbs down, she said you are pregnant right, I remember you from a few months ago. I told her I was and already 18 weeks. She said oh ok, you lost weighed, told her it was the diabetic diet and she said oh ok, so all is good than. I refuse to let myself get that big again. I got rid of all those clothes an hubby got me a bunch of new ones before I got pregnant.

LadyD - Thank YOU for your words too

I want to be able to get on the floor with my son and not be out of breath or my bones cracking everytime..I want to weigh less than him
I feel the same way! Right now I am so uncomfortable and getting up off the couch and the floor (if I make it down that far) take such an effort, that I don't ever want it to be that way post-pregnancy. I want to be an active Mom.
DH had gained some weight, but has been loosing it the last few months (which has really been pissing me off that he chooses NOW to loose weight, never tried before in our relationship) but my long term goal is to weigh less than him (okay, a lot less than him, but if I weighed as little as him I would be in heaven...baby steps...)
I can't make a concrete weight loss plan right now because obviously whether I have a c-section or not will alter those plans, but I want to start as soon as I can. I think I will do a combination of WW (and probably start going to classes when I go back to work since I have to drive by a center and their Friday class would be at the perfect time) and a modified SBD. As well as make good use of the treadmill, bike, and weights we have in the house. I may try to find a Mommy and Me Yoga, but I don't think there is much around here.

Just came for a quick update about the lack of movement.
Went to the doctor on Tuesday and saw a different dr. than the last time. He didn't seem concerned at all. The heartbeat was fine and he said it's most likely that the baby IS moving and I'm just not feeling it.
He said I can go for another ultrasound to ease my mind. Doing that on thursday.
You know, they have never once measured my stomach or felt for my uterus since the first appt. Is that odd?
DaniML
06-30-2006, 12:15 PM
Hula1974, I'm sure it's very stressing not to feel the baby move. However, if the heartbeat is good and strong it doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about. When I was pregnant with my son (almost 10 years ago now) I never got my stomach measured either. Honestly I didn't know they did that until we started trying this time around. Hope the ultrasound will ease your mind!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Today is CD28 and either 10 or 11 DPO. I'm going to wait at least until Tuesday to do anything. Ideally I would be able to hold out until Friday, but who am I kidding?
In the meantime I had a dream that I was pregnant (which happened last pregnancy too - so of course I'm ready way to much into it). My boobs are sore as can be (again, this happens every month and though it seems like they are even more tender this month, it probably means nothing). I'm also already thinking about how to tell my mom. My whole family is in Germany (not sure if I've mentioned - I'm sure my avatar gives it away - but I'm German, born and raised, not a US citizen). Anyway, I thought I would wait until after my first ultrasound (which my doc will do at the first visit because of my history) and then stick it in a FedEx envelope with nothing else in it. Hehehe. Then I'll wait for her phone call a few days later. So much fun.
Really though, first I have to GET pregnant. I really wish I could get all this stuff out of my brain!
Hope everyone has a wonderful July 4th.

HI ladies,
Just came on here to see how everyone is doing. My son is now 9mths old and we will be trying for #2 in a few more months. I have been on WW since DS was 2mths old. I am down 60 pounds since his birth :D but still have 20 pounds to get to where I want to be:eek: . I didn't gain that much with the pg, I gained A LOT before I got pg.
DaniML - good luck
jesseybell (((((((hugs))))))) i know how it is. My DH went on WW because I asked for his help and he has far surpassed my weight loss and is SKINNY - boney even. And some days it is really hard for me. But what makes me feel better is to know that he will be healthier and a great example for our son. I went right on ww after DS was born. Its really easy with BFing. If ever there was an argument for BFing it would have to be to lose the weight faster. You really do get plenty to eat while on WW and BFing really makes the weight loss QUICK!
OK, off to a DR apt for DS.
jesseybell
07-13-2006, 02:34 PM
thank you shushyk - your weight loss is awesome!
At 37w+ my stomach is now huge and more and more people are commenting on it and the dr yesterday said she could already by 7.5-8 lbs! Part of me is hoping that his estimates are off - if I go 3-4 weeks, she could be a very big baby. But I also wonder if all the coke and chocolate ice cream that I have consumed in the last 9 months has contributed...but I am not cutting back now, because she could come at any minute and once she's here, the coke and chocolate ice cream diet goes bye-bye :(
While I am going to try BFing for the baby's sake, but having my uterus shrink faster definitely is the best non-"good for the baby" incentive to try a little harder to make it work.

Plus size me had a plus-size baby:
Baby Elizabeth weighed in at 9 lb 3 oz at birth (8 lb 11 oz at discharge). I joked with the doctors that it was because I drank too much soda during pregnancy. I ended up gaining 30 lbs (from my first doctor's appt) - my doctor's didn't have a problem with that.
Today I took my first look at my post-pregnancy body. Yikes! I know its only 5 days after birth but it was enough to put in me in tears. Because of a huge amount of fluid retention the scale wasn't as low as I wanted it to be, but at least it is a start.
My appetite was nothing in the hospital, but I've got to increase it in order to BF. I have a pint of ice cream in the fridge left, but other than that, I am going to try to eat better.

9 Days....That's how long it took my mother to make a comment about me loosing weight. While I was pushing for 2 1/2 hours (before having to have a c-section) one of my knees was really hurting - the nurse had me press on her arm but she was pushing back so hard I was in immense pain (I think this pain was part of the reason I couldn't concentrate enough to push her out (that and she was 9 lb 3 oz, so I may not have been able to push her out anyways).)
So yesterday my mom starts going on about how the reason my knee hurt so much was because I am overweight and I really need to loose more weight before getting pregnant again so I won't be as uncomfortable next pregnancy(ummm....didn't know I was any more uncomfortable than a normal pregnant person in the middle of summer).
Gotta love moms....At least I got to fire back at her and tell her that my weight was NOT a factor in me getting pregnant (or should I say I didn't have any difficulty despite her harping on me for 3 years to loose weight before getting pregnant).....And then in the same conversations I love to hear "In our days we drank and smoked the whole time....." Nice, real nice....

Aw, sorry to hear that you had to go through that, Jessey. That's exactly why I could never have my mother in the delivery room with me. While your mom is on about your knee, my mother is fixated on my swollen ankles. Labor would only give her more to criticize. C'est la vie. :)

well my second progesterone wasn't what we were expecting - two cycles in a row under 7 he likes to see 12-15 to sustain pgcy. I have to POS tomorrow and get on suplimentation right away ... :(

Lynzey ~ Sorry about the progesterone. :( Hopefully the suplimentation will do the trick for you.
jesseybell & cosmic ~ Ugh, sorry your mothers are that way. I'm lucky that my mom really doesn't ever say much about my weight so I don't think I'll hear to much when preggo. Although I think she's learned by now that I'm super sensitive and doesn't want to make me cry. ;)
I just got back from doing my estrogen bloodwork again. Hopefully this time the lab will do the right test. CD21 progestrone came back 10.1 so I guess that wasn't the problem. I was really, really expecting the progestrone to be low because my LP's are about 9-11 days (8 this cycle  ) and Af is super light only lasting about 2 days. But I guess not. Makes me wonder why my LP is so short then. I guess I just need to do more research.

Lynzey, sending you sticky vibes! Hopefully the suplements will work!!
Jesseybell & Cosmic, sorry you have to listen to that from your mom! I'm fortunate in that my mom herself has always struggled with weight and knows how hard it is. She would never make a comment. Now my grandma, that was a different story. I don't know how many times I heard "You would be such a pretty girl if you just lost some weight". Back then I wasn't even big lol.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Copied from my journal:
Took my Clomid for the first time last night and as expected it made me a bit dizzy. Anytime a medication says dizzyness or lightheadedness as a possible side effect it's sure to hit me. I really dont' know why. Doesn't matter though since my doc said to take it in the evening. And really, I don't care how it makes me feel if it will help me get pregnant. I just felt kind of floaty. Other than that no side effects at all. Can't wait for CD12 to get here now !

My mom was totally guilty of comments like this when I was a child- actually until I hit 28. She has had weight issues her entire adult life, so it was really irritating. Now, she is finally understanding that I don't care what she says, I am happier in my own skin no matter what size I am!!!!
Good luck with your cycles Chris~n~Jen, DaniML and Lynzey. I am so sorry you have to be on meds to get things going! Sending you lots of BABY DUST!!!! Happy O'ing and BDing! ;)

Sorry you ladies are dealing with rude comments. My mom said stuff before I got pregnant, but she also knows she was saying it to herself, since she has quite a bit of weight on her she needs to loss.
I am still holding at the same weight now for several weeks, so that's good for me, be hopefully easier to loss the weight after the baby comes.

Lynzey that sucks about the progesterone.
Jen glad your progest. came back normal.
Dani Too bad the Clomid made you dizzy, but hopefully it will work for you!
CD44 here... have 3 days left of the Provera so I should be getting AF about a week after that. Then on to the next cycle!

Hey Ladies!
Hope you're all doing well!
I'm on my last day of Clomid and the side effects are in full force. The worst one is hot flashes. Good grief! I would sit on the couch and suddenly break out into a full on sweat. Happened all througout the night. Turned down the A/C only to be absolutly freezing when I got out of the shower this morning. So you know it wasn't really hot in there before, just having flashes. Other than that some light headedness and headaches. But, like I told DH, I am willing to endure anything if it gets us pregnant.

Hey Ya'll. I know I've been in and out of here, but since we are TTC full force, I guess I'll stay ;). Clomid - I had hot flashes for a while after I stoped taking it, it was horrible, but worth it if I get a BFP!! I also had some nasty nasty mood swings. Poor DH :D

Hi ladies!
Well 4 or 5t more months and I am going to TTC #2 I am getting so excited though I can hardly wait, but since I need the chicken pox vaccine, I have too
Jesseybell - I just wanted to see ify our nursing. It made such a huge difference in my weght loss. I lost 40 pounds pretty EASY on WW. I am at a stand still, but I THINK its because I am not really eating less so I keep gaining and losing the same 5 pounds.
I hope everyone else is doing well, I have to finish the laundry while my MIL is watching the baby. GOOD LUCK for all you ladies in the 2WW

New/old member.
I am not very active over on CC (mostly on LJ) but I have just found out that I am PG with DC#2. We are really excited and shocked. We weren't even trying for another baby. We were going to wait until after Jack's 2nd birthday. I guess God had different plans for us.
Congratulations to Ericka on the birth of your son. This is such special news.

Thanks Sunshine and annielynn.
He is such a sweetheart and we are of course on cloud 9. I went up 5 lbs in 2 weeks, my appt on Tuesday I was up 3 lbs. but the doc just said it could be the scale so she was ok with it. Right now I am down 5 lbs.

Hi ladies.
Hoping someone here has some advice for me. I am 13 days pp but this problem started a few weeks prior to delivery.
I seem to have stretch marks (I think that's what they are) on the lower part of my stomach that hurt. They are not pink/purple like the others that I have. They just look like a white protruberence (sp?). I think it's excess fluid but who knows. I can make little indents with my finger.
I ended up with a c-section so on top of the incision pain (which is hidden under a roll  ) I still have this soreness.
Trying to wear maternity clothes but I'm finding that now that my stomach hangs lower, the clothes don't fit right. Too much belly UNDER the elastic part.
ugh.
My mom thinks I should have mentioned it to my doctor but I figured it was just part of being so big. What do you think?

Hey ladies,
I haven't been on here in a while because we had decided to postpone TTC. However, I am currently getting back to working out and eating right so that I can get a little more healthy before TTC in January/February.
Congrats to all the new moms and welcome to all the new babies!

tray622 - thanks me too! anyone else out there going 2ww crazy?

shushyk I'm currently in the 2ww too. (8-9DPO). Not feeling anything yet, and honestly am not too hopeful for this cycle, but ya never know! Good luck to you though!!
I have an appt with a nutritionist on Jan. 10th. I went to my dr last week to see what the next step in our TTC journey is, because I've been on metformin since May and my cycles are still erratic and no pg yet. He thinks that it's completely wt related and wants me to lose at least 50# before he'll try any other meds. (I'm on the met for insulin resistance. I've lost about 12# since being on the meds but haven't been trying as hard as I should. I need to lose about 150# to get to my ideal wt.) He had me make the appt with the nutritionist and talked about a dr-monitored liquid diet they do there at the clinic. At first I was dead set against that, but the more I think about it, if that's what it takes to have a healthy pg and baby, then so be it.
I hope everyone else is doing great!!

Hey ladies! If someone wants to restart this thread, feel free to do so. I haven't been around here to update as we are no longer pregnant, nor are we ttc right now. :)
I'd like to encourage all of you that being plus size doesn't mean anything in regards to being pregnant. Sure, we have risks of high blood pressure and GD, but they are just risks! Are skinny counterparts have risks of getting those too (admittedly, there risk is smaller). Just because you get pregnant while plus size doesn't mean you'll end up with pre-E or GD. :)
I suspect that I'll be back around these parts sometime this year (like, late in the year!) ;), but for now, I'm concentrating on a healthy diet and trying to fit exercise into my life. It never hurts to be healthier, right? :)
Best of luck to those ttc!
And to those of you pregnant - Lane Bryant finally came out with a plus size selection of maternity clothes!
