hula - www.saveontests.com :) And thanks again for the congrats!
Abirney - Yep, your temp will go up on provera. The reason why is it is tricking your body into thinking it ovulated so that you will get a period. Your temps should stay a bit elevated while you take the provera. When you quit taking the provera, your progesterone will drop, signally your body to shed its lining.

Well ladies, I'm in my 2WW. Not quite sure if I agree with FF, but I guess I'll go with it. If any of you look at my chart, and have any insights, that would be great.

I'm not pregnant anymore but when I was I walked on the treadmill and lifted small weights while walking. I've heard that you should avoid heavy weight lifting.. I also swam in an indoor pool throughout pregnancy. HTH Congratulations!!! & Welcome!!! :)
Jennylou I saw your journal change and I just wanted to say congratulations!!!! :) :)

chimichanga - I think the only thing you have to be concerned with in regards to excercising is making sure your heartbeat doesn't go over 140. I wish we would have bought a treadmill instead of an eliptical. There is no way in hell that I can keep my heartbeat below 140 on that thing, whereas with the treadmill, I'd love to be walking on it now. It's so cold out that walking outside is pretty much out of the question.

Jennylou - thank you for the advice. I'll keep that in mind. I don't want to go walking outside since it's freezing. I do have the Walk Away the Pounds set; I can do that and still keep my heartbeat below 140.

Next Monday?!? :p
That seems like forever away! Well, let's hope that I can wait that long. I'm 9 DPO today, and really starting to want to test. I've had some cramping, and a little tiny bit of nausea.
My temp took another plunge though today, and that makes me worry a little bit. :o

Hi ladies!
Just checking in. I'm still waiting for AF to arrive.... took my last dose of Provera a week ago and been spotting on and off since Wednesday... in fact the spotting is getting less. I wish she'd just hurry up already!
MrsJackson hopefully your next test will turn out better! Wait a few days though!

I'll try very hard to wait until at least Thursday to test. It's going to be hard, though. Willpower is something that I lack.
What do you ladies make of the temp drop I had again yesterday. Today it only went up a little bit. Could that possibly mean that the old hag is on her way?

12-13-2005, 07:13 AM
chimichanga - have you started any exercising? I found out that the ILs have offered us their treadmill (they want to get rid of it), so I'm excited to get it to my house! I can't wait to start walking! I hear ya on the coldness, it's freezing here. Plus, it's icy, and I don't want to chance falling down.
Chris~n~Jen
12-13-2005, 08:00 AM
Ok girls, I gotta question for ya. We are currently TTC but I really also want to lose some weight. We just don't want to wait until after the weight loss before TTCing. I've read a lot of people say that it is ok to just eat healthier and excersise. However, I really need to be on a structured diet in order to lose any weight. I was thinking of starting South Beach or The Zone. Do you think being on a stricter diet is bad while TTC?
Chimichanga
12-13-2005, 11:56 AM
Jennylou - sadly, no exercising yet. I'm so exhausted when I get home that I can barely make dinner. I hope to walk indoors tonight though - after a monsterous nap! ;)
Chris~n~Jen I read that the South Beach Diet can actually help you conceive. The book explains it better than I can. I'd just wait to start TTC until you finish the first two weeks since it's restricted. After that, really, your food is more open - it's just better food.
Alanna
12-13-2005, 01:19 PM
thanks Sare79, Astara, Chris~n~Jen, Mrs Jackson, Abirney and Chimichanga for saying such nice things about Molly!
Chris~n~jen i dont have any specific advice about those diets.. but my concern about doing something like that while TTC was that in the past when i have gone on a strict diet it has messed with my cycles somewhat.. we really wanted to conceive as soon as possible.. so i decided not to go that route... if you are more laid back about your timetable or if you havent had a similar experience with diet affecting cycles.. then id say go for it!

I have sadly not started exercising either, despite the treadmill sitting downstairs in the basement. I really want to, because I am not moving around at work and my legs get really restless, but by the time I get home I am so tired. I am hoping that once the holidays are over and I go to my 8 week appt, I will feel more motivated to get up early and walk. Last year right after Christmas I started doing 'Buff Brides' which meant getting up at 6:30 every morning and lifting weights (Somehow psychologically I found it easier to get up early after December 21st, knowing that the mornings would be getting lighter and lighter instead of darker and darker). Though I've found it is easier to get up to lift weights than do cardio, but I should be more motivated since it's not like I am going to be doing cardio at my old pace - intervals with high heart rates. I also bought Buff Moms-to-be (and Buff New Moms or something like that) I want to start lifting light weights again.

12-14-2005, 04:37 AM
Jen - I was actively ttc when I started the SBD. As long as once you're pregnant you are not in Phase I you should be fine. If you're in Phase I and get a BFP I'd recommend switching to Phase II immediately.
Chris~n~Jen
12-14-2005, 06:28 AM
Thanks girls. That makes me feel better about dieting. I think we'll go with SBD since there have been good things said about it. :D

Well there is no more Dr. Drama in my life! New dr is AWESOME not once did she mention my weight during the appointment. The only time it was referenced was when she asked for a form she was filling out and all she said was 'watch your diet' and that was b/c of the diabetes and NOT for the physical number she was writing down. GINORMOUS sigh of relief on my part.
we got a green light to start trying this month

Well, ladies. Tested this afternoon. Guess what the answer was. Yep, a BFN.
I also started spotting this afternoon, much to my suprise. And I might add that it wasn't a very good suprise.
On the optimistic side of things, how late can implantation occur? I'm not going to get my hopes up, was just wondering.

I had my first doctor's appointment today. Nothing too major - drew some blood, etc. I have an ultrasound scheduled for next Thursday :D I can't wait to see the heartbeat. The doctor just wants to make sure everything is okay - I had some crazy cycles previously.
Also, she told me I should shoot for a 5-10 pound weight gain. "But if you don't gain that much it's okay." At least they didn't berate me over my current weight. I am going to look into some water aerobics classes or prenatal stuff at the local Y. They have their enrollment specials going on now - no joining fee... Something to consider.

I'm currently having a hard time trying to decide what's going on with my cycle. My OPK's and CM say I've ovulated, buy my temps aren't agreeing. Stubborn things anyway.
I just don't get it. They gave me the red light telling me I'm probably not fertile, but I see no rise in temps. I'm about ready to pull my hair out.

Hi Ladies,
I'm due tomorrow and just scheduled my induction for this coming Thursday.
The doctor said I have an increased risk of c-section because 1) the baby is measuring 4 weeks ahead 2)my weight and 3) by being induced.
Can you share your c-section stories with me? I'm worried about the healing becuase of the extra layers at my stomach!
I'd love to hear your stories!!
Thank you,

well in the first official 2ww and its weird - Talk about putting your life under the microscope! one minute I'm like OMG we could be pregnant and the next is like WHAT AM I DOING?!? Starting SBD today so that hopefully by time we find out phase 1 will be over or almost over. And then I can get on a good meal plan.
My Dr said she would support a 1lb per week weightloss while pregnant up until 30 weeks then she would expect me to gain 1 pound per week until delivery (10-15 pounds total) AS LONG AS I could keep my blood sugar under control.
Chris~n~Jen

LynzeyAHL ~ I am starting SBD tomorrow! So we can be here to cheer each other on with both the diet and TTC!
LynzeyAHL
01-01-2006, 03:27 PM
um if you're starting tomorrow I hope you shop today! not to scare you but I just spent 4 hours grocery shopping for week one food and cleaning and preparing all the veggies b/c I DO NOT have time during the week.
So far I'm not hungry so that's good. Phase one is 14 days and unless AF comes on her own around the 12th I decided I'm testing on the 15th Day 1 of Phase 2 so that I don't use our embryo that doesn't need carbs yet as a reason to cheat!!!!!
I bought the book and so far I'm loving it. Not sure why I didn't do this sooner. HERES TO A SLIMMER 2006 <CHEERS> :o
Chris~n~Jen
01-01-2006, 04:06 PM
Well AF started for me today, so I won't be able to use the excuse to cheat. I did make a list and sent DH to the store to shop. I only had him get enough stuff for the first three days. I couldn't overload him or he wouldn't go. So Tuesday or Wednesday I'll have to go and pick up for the rest of the week.
Are you following the daily menus that are in the book for phase 1? I figure it's easiest to just follow the menu and that way I don't have to worry about if something I am wanting to eat is ok for phase one. I'm going to make the vegetable quiche cups to go after dinner and freeze them for the week.
LynzeyAHL
01-01-2006, 04:16 PM
haha yup same here just dug out my muffin pan infact. My DH understands meal planning and shopping once for the week b/c we BOTH hate shopping so we make the list do it once and be done. And I try not to think about the expense of phase 1 in the winter with all the veggies but I did get some deal BO/GO at Meijer so hey.
oh and yea I am following the book just not in order (mixing things up in week 1) and we're repeating some meals (london broil) b/c DH is really picky about the way fish is cooked and since he's being nice enough to do this with me I won't complain.
Chris~n~Jen
01-01-2006, 04:52 PM
Oh good, you'll have to let me know what you think of certain receipes since you might get to them before we do. My DH is also doing the diet with me. I kept telling him we were doing this in order to prepare him. Then earlier last week he had to wear his suit (that he purchased about 3 months ago and wore on our honeymoon). He called me at work and said he was ready to start this diet because his suit was already tight. :p I think he needed that kind of motivation so I'm glad he's so onboard for now.
LynzeyAHL
01-01-2006, 05:37 PM
OK mashed cauliflower - Don't add the pepper when you start to steam it gets too spicey and drain any and all excess water first b/c they don't have the startch to thicken as they sit and simmer -
also if you're going to use round steak for the 'london broil' watch it I overcooked mine and had to cheat by using some A1, but both get a + in my book.
is it two weeks yet I want to POS haha I am SO anal retentive I hate the thought of something go on in there w/o me knowing it.
Soon though right?

Lynzey That OPK and one after it were both sooo positive, but I didn't end up O'ing. (I think it's because of all the christmas stress, and the new job promotion I got putting a little anxiety on me. )
But, I am getting darker OPK's as the days go on, so I think I've caught the upside of an LH surge. Good thing DH is home from work tomorrow, and we'll be able to BD! We didn't today, but we did the day before, so if O day was yesterday (I had a temp jump this morning) then we should score pretty high on the timing. We'll see.

well its going largely concentrating on DIET and not 2ww but the whole waking up and not having to pee on your hand I mean in a cup is sorta nice :D
Earliest I can test is around 1/7 AF expected around 1/12. Since I went on SBD I'm waiting until 1/15 for any POS if AF doesn't show b/c I don't want anything to be a reason to 'cheat' in phase 1 so I'm not gonna.
Besides I have one test in the house so I better wait til I can make it a good one!

Those of you that are already mommies or are pregnant- how has your doctor been about the pregnancy? Did their attitude change if they had told you before conceiving that you needed to lose weight?
I'm asking because, while my doctor is supportive of getting pregnant, he has a tendency to suggest losing weight to solve anything and everything!
Also- mommies: how has the weight been coming off? Is it more difficult/easier/the same as it was before?
How much have you gained?
Sorry for all the questions!!!

When I began discussing TTC with my OB she really didn't mention anything about my weight, even though I had gained 12lbs since I had seen her last. At my first OB appt she was really supportive about my weight. She recommended that I don't gain any more than 20lbs overall (which didn't sounds like something that I would be able to accomplish.) But I didn't gain any more than 15 lbs. :)
The weight after Jack was born just came right off thankfully. 6 weeks PP I was actually 15lbs under my PrePG weight. I was very surprised.

I asked my OB about this right before I found out I was PG. She said I should have no problems and that there was no need to wait on TTC as long as I was active. She basically said just bc your heavy doesnt mean you cant have a perfectly healthy, uncomplicated PG.. and she was right!! :)
Weight Gain I gained 25lbs for the whole PG and I was back down to my pre pg weight at my 2wk check up.. its easier to lose bc its a lot of liquid volume you've gained instead of gaining fat. but now that im trying to lose weight beyond that.. id say its about the same difficulty as before.

Good question... I'm worried about that also. At my last yearly exam last march, my Dr said she wanted me to get down to 275 before TTC. Well..... I've actually gained a fair amt since then so when I do get pg I'm nervous about going in there weighing over 300. (Currently 330 but working on it.)
They way my body (isn't) cooperating right now though maybe I will be down to that before I get pg... grrrr.

Great question Sarah!
Did anyone "diet" during their pregnancy? What method did you all use to keep your pg weight down so low? I have this fear of someday gaining a lot!
jennylou
01-11-2006, 08:38 PM
hula - you should not diet when pregnant. It's dangerous. You should eat healthy and sensibly. If you are hungry, you need to eat. I gained 22 pounds while pregnant by just not overdoing it. I didn't have a hot fudge sundae every night, but neither can I say that I never indulged. I just didn't use me being pregnant as an excuse to eat everything and anything.
Astara
01-12-2006, 06:59 AM
I only drank water during my PG and ate as healthy as I could.. I only ate stuff that had nutritional value.. but I always gave in to my cravings too which was mostly sweets. I would say drink water, eat sensibly, excercise if/when you can (I swam for most of my pg) but also give in to what your body craves.
also in the first few weeks of my PG I craved carbs and fatty stuff. Healthy food would not stay with me at all.

I gained 25 pounds during pregnancy too... it all came off within a couple of weeks... i didnt do anything really special during the pregnancy... it was mostly during the summer and i went out for icecream like once a week... (i'm terrible about icecream) and i went through a period when i ate a lot of Cocoa Puffs... However, except for those transgressions... i looked out at what i was eating a little more than i usually would. I dont eat meat... i only eat some fish... so i paid attention to protein.. i drank TONS of water, and tried to up my fiber... i didnt visit my m/w before i was pregnant so she didnt have a chance to talk to be about weight prior to pregnancy... we didnt talk about really at all during regular visits though she was convinced that i had GD in the middle of the pregancy and had me take the three hour test twice  only to have me pass it both times... i ended up having a big baby but it seems like that might be a genetic thing... (dh and i were both 9+) and she did say at my final visit that she would like me to start my next pregnancy with less weight than this one... (me too) and that having been said.. i had an uncomplicated pregnancy, no issues and a very healthy baby girl.

I am so glad you asked these questions Sare79. It is comforting to see that not to many of you had really big weight gains. I am so nervous about that!
At my last yearly appointment with my gyno, I mentioned that we would be TTC soon. She told me to start the prenatals and also did mention my weight but only a bit. She only said that it would be good if I could lose some weight before conceiving. Not that I had to but just that it would help to have a smoother pregnancy if I started out at a lower weight. BTW, I hate going to docotors because ever since the age of 16 they always keep telling me to lose weight. At the age of 16 I was very active in sports and ran 1-2 miles every day! WTF! So I kinda always expect some sort of weight comment whenever I go to any kind of doctor unfortunatly.

I had my first OB appt yesterday. She didn't even bring up my weight, I did. She didn't come out and say "You can't gain any more than X", but when I kind of pushed her for a number, she said she'd rather not have me gain more than 20-25 pounds, but then she also said "It would be okay if you didn't gain any weight either" Pretty much what she said was that the more I gain during pg the more I have to loose after (and I have a lot to loose because I gained back the 25 lbs I lost for the wedding after the wedding and what I really wanted to do was loose an additional 15 lbs after the wedding before ttcing but the stress of ttcing made that impossible!- but of course what I eventually want to do is loose 65 lbs from my pre-pg weight)
I have been eating like crap. Healthy food (okay most foods) are just not appetizing. My dr was okay with that for the first trimester, but she wants me to make a concerted effort to eat healthier once I start feeling better.

I had my first official OB appt yesterday (although, this was the third time I'd seen my OB). The only reason we talked about my weight was for the nurse to tell me that I'd lost two pounds since December. My OB was fine with my weight gain before (22 pounds) so she probably figures I just need to do what I was doing last time.
She's also supportive of me trying a vbac, which I'm thrilled about. :) And she gave me another ultrasound (even though I had one last week). She's all for making me feel comfortable during this pregnancy. Her reasoning is that a stressed mom isn't a good thing, especially if she can eleviate any of the stresses. :) She told me I could have an u/s at every appointment if I wanted. I think I have a wonderful OB.

Right now i'm battling with weather we should put off TTC to lose weight, or if i should just go for it. We're ready, and I really don't want to wait. Grandma, however, has paid for a 6 month Jenny Craig program for me that starts on Monday. I'm thinking i'll give it a shot, and if we get PG in the process ;) ooops!!! LOL. Well, they can freeze the account and I can use it again after I have the babay. Grandma is really worried about it and says I should not TTC until I lose at least 50LBs. SIGH.....I dunno. We'll see what happens. In the mean time, if I am not PG after this cycle, I am going to begin charting.

Yep, I'm the mom of a 16 month old & we're trying for #2 (in the 2ww now).
I was about 50lbs over my "ideal weight" when I had DS. Gained about 40lbs with him & promptly lost all but 10 of those lbs.... which I'm still carrying (plus another 5 or so). Ideally I wanted to lose some weight before trying again, but that just didn't happen. Hopefully, I'll be able to make better choices when we get pg, and not gain as much as the first time. :)
Looking forward to hanging out with you gals!!

Hula - I've had good luck with Anita bras (seamless, soft cup style). But they're expensive and hard to find (luckily mil owns a shop).
Okay, anyone have luck finding plus size jeans like this:
http://www.oldnavy.com/Asset_Archive/ONWeb/Assets/Product/324/324280/main/on324280-00p01v01.jpg
They're the Real Waist jeans. They don't have to look exactly like that, just the general style. I really like them. But, they only go to an 18 or XL at most places I've seen. My hips are too large for an XL or 18. I'm more like a 2X or 20. Anyways, I like the style and wouldn't mind wearing some like it.

I have some like that from a line in Canada called MXM. It's available at Addition-elle and Pennington's. If you're close to a border- it's worth a try- they are 49.99 CDN. But they aren't maternity- just sort of stretchy waist.

I have been hungry almost constantly. My temps dropped on DPO5 & 6 (threw out DPO4 temp it wasn't my normal time & I moved a lot) and they went up a little today. I went to Gap Maternity over the weekend and was not too happy to see that even though they go up to size 20 on the web site, there was nothing in the store above a 14. So I went a little crazy on-line. Hopefully they fit. I don't like stretch clothes because my thighs don't often fit. If gap doesn't work for me then I'll check out JC Penney's plus-size maternity clothes.
The Old Navy store had plus-size maternity but I didn't like the look of their clothes...plus I wasn't sure if my thighs would fit in their plus-size clothes.

As for plus size maternity, I may be in the minority, but I really didn't like FB maternity all that much. They seemed cheaper to me than other brands, of course, I think FB is generally on the cheaper side anyways. I only buy from there on clearance. It's worth it to me if I'm paying, eh, say $5 and have to reseam a pair of pants, but if I'm paying $50 - no way should I be reseaming. ;)
Now, JC Penney catalog looks really great...now let's just hope that they are really great. I think I'll be ordering from them soon. :)

I just got my Gap package. I haven't tried everything on, but its been about 50-50 hit miss. Shorts fit great. The 2 capri pants fit okay though I wonder if I put them in the dryer how thrilled I could be - also I may return them and get the length meant for petite people because they aren't very capri like - more high water length! The jeans alas have to be returned. As I suspected my thighs just aren't working with them and I don't think a size 20 would help. 18W pants are most comfortable for me. 18 are a little snug.
But having a pair of shorts, t shirts and yoga pants is wonderful. I just need to get that perfect pair of jeans because that is what I desparately need (like I wish I had them for this Friday!).

Lynzey - sorry you didn't have luck this month. Sounds like you have a good plan in place that won't stress you out! I was a Thanksgiving baby....kinda. My mom went into labor while cleaning the meat off the turkey after dinner. LOL I was born the next day on 11/29. My birthday has never fallen ON Thanksgiving since that date changes every year. Some years it's as close as it was the day I was born, and others, it's close to a week away.
The good thing about the TG birthday is that there are no other presents around ;) Consequently, it's my favorite holiday!

I guess I'm ready to join this thread. :) I sorta straddle the plus size/regular size line (I wear a 14-16) so I'm a bit nervous that maternity clothes are going to be difficult to fit. Luckily my workplace is more casual than dressy so a couple pair of khakis/black pants, jeans for Fridays, and some long sleeve shirts should pretty much cover me. Hopefully that won't be too hard to find. I'm hoping to start looking at yard sales this summer for a few basic pieces to keep the overall costs down.

Welcome Kanga!
I just received my OldNavy.com order today and am very pleased. I got XXL short. I was wearing a 20 before I got preg and there seems to be plenty of room. I am not so sure I love the low waist as I think I can hide this pregnancy from work if I wear something that comes over *both* bellies. For some reason, all in all, this is more flattering on me. But either way, WAY happy.

Hi ladies :) I'm outing myself as a lurker, too! We are currently TTC (cycle 3)...I'm mostly a size 16. I have a question for you experience Moms/PG ladies. I'm the MOH in my SIL wedding in September. If I get PG this cycle, I would at most be 6 months at her wedding. We are going dress shopping next week and I'm in a quandry as to what to do. I won't know if I'm PG yet, so getting a maternity dress is out. I was thinking of getting an empire waisted dress and going maybe a size or two larger than I would get normally. Do you think that would be okay?

Thanks for the info guys. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that TTC is a short journey for us so I'm gathering info now for future shopping. Plus, I live in the midwest in a smallish town so any decent shopping is at least an hours drive. I'm hoping to gather info now so I can search for nearby stores and visit their websites in the meantime. :) Plus, my regular wardrobe could use a little sprucing up so this gives me an excuse to try out a new store or two while TTC so I can get advance ideas about quality and sizing.

Maybe I would talk to the bride and tell her that you guys are TTC and maybe she would be open to you ordering a dress like that (empire waist). Then maybe you could wait a couple of months before ordering. That way just in case you do get pregnant (which we hope you do ;) ) then you can either order that dress in a bigger size or order a maternity dress.
Good luck and I hope you see your BFP soon.

Welcome! I just recently had the same issue. March 06 dress and we were shopping in Sept (the first month we were going to start TTC). So like you, I could have been 6 months pg. When are you ordering your dress? We shopped in Sept. and ordered first week in Nov. I was not pg by then. As each month passes unsuccessfully (hopefully not too long for you!) you know you'll be LESS pg come the wedding. I would say, since the most you'll be is 6 months, just get a regular dress but a few sizes bigger. The person who does your alts can adapt it. Elastic waist, put in an empire waist, whatever. I ordered mine in Nov in the biggest size I could (24 instead of the 20 I would have gotten). Worked out fine since I'm only 8 weeks now. Good luck!

Fashion Bug is owned by Lane Bryant who also owns Catherine's. Although the clothes are usually somewhat different from each other.
I haven't ordered anything from LB maternity, I had that link saved from when I was pregnant before. I have ordered from Fashion Bug and even shopped in the stores. For me trying pants on before I buy is a big thing, hate to get something and have to return it. Shirts are ok, they are usually sized right.

Hi ladies, thanks for the replies :)
I don't really want to tell my SIL we are TTC - I don't want to get bugged by our family and endlessly hear "are you PG yet?" It's just better this way ;) The good news is she doesn't care what kind of dress I wear. There are only two of us, and we can even pick different dresses if we'd like. She wants to order the dresses before the end of March - so maybe I can convince her to wait until I at least get either the BFP or BFN for March ;)

Hi ladies! I haven't said much here lately, but I've been lurking.
Things have been really hectic lately, but.....I got my BFP this past Wednesday!!!
We really didn't think this would be our month. My Grandma was in the hospital and took a turn for the worse a few weeks ago.. so I flew down to be with her (she lived in Texas) which was right in the middle of prime fertile time. We got a few early BD sessions in, but we thought we missed it. My Gram ended up passing away a few days later. That definitely put TTC into perspective. Spending her last few days with her was so much more important. I told DH if we did get pregnant, that meant Gram pulled a few strings with the Big Man upstairs. So.... I guess that's what she did!
Looks like I should probably get my old maternity clothes back from my friends who borrowed them all! But shopping for new clothes will be much more fun~ :D

Welcome Deb!
Glad to see this thread got some action today!
I'm starting to really get nervous about my wardrobe. I have a few pairs of pants so far but they won't last long. Not thrilled with anything I'm finding. Especially tops. I'm not round enough yet to wear a true maternity style top but my reg. shirts are getting tight. yuck yuck yuck. I feel Sooooo pg and I'm only 11 weeks. I can't believe this. The whole idea of holding my stomach in went away as soon as I got my bfp. I guess this is what the skinny girls refer to as feeling bloated!
Question for anyone who's been pg before. Did your dr. give you a glucose tolerance test early? I had one at 8 weeks and after I had it, I started to wonder why so early. My friend said maybe because of my starting weight, 215. Thoughts?

I am ready to join this crowd! :) DH and I have been TTC #2 for 6 cycles and I am hoping this is it... Only CD 10, but crossing our fingers for a BFP this month, or next or the following.
As far as maternity clothes are concerned, I had pretty good luck with ON, MM, FB and Target. I am currently a size 18, and have been working out since Oct and feeling tremendously better about myself. Haven't lost much weight, maybe 10lbs, but that is not my only goal. I want to feel good in my skin, you know? Anyway, I am psyched to join you all in the TTC/pregnancy/motherhood journey. :) My stats:

Hi there, just checking in....
Now on CD4, had to take Provera in induce AF, so another long annov cycle behind me (84 days). Hopefully one of these times I'll pop out an egg!
I do have my annual exam on the 23rd and hoping to get some bloodwork or ideas of how to proceed next being my body quit cooperating... any ideas on what to ask for? I'm also nervous because at my appt last year I asked her what wt I should be at before we start TTC... she said she'd like to see me at 275 (which was 25# to lose)... well instead I GAINED this year and am now 334. I hope she isn't too mad... I did start back on track with WW yesterday so hopefully it will start coming off again.

Abirney- Ask for LH and FSH testing, testoterone, cholesterol. Those all all good things to have tested just to see where you are at, but because you're not ovulating, can also show if that's because of PCOS. Good luck!

Hi Ladies,
I have a question. DH & I will start TTCing sometime this year. I am plus-sized and was told at my last OB/GYN appointment that I needed to lose weight, was anyone else told they needed to lose weight before TTCing?
Unfortunately, I haven't lost any weight but I got a few more months until my next OB/GYN appointment. I have started to exercise so that's good for me.
Thanks!
jennylou
03-12-2006, 01:10 PM
DelSol - Yep, I got the same speel...only I was already TTC. If you're exercising and eating well by the time your next appointment rolls around then you are doing great. If you OB/GYN still says you have to lose weight - change doctors. At the very least if you aren't losing, you should have your FSH and LH tested. Some, not all overweight ladies are like that because of another problem. FSH and LH will show PCOS. Likewise, a thyroid test should also be run. Good luck. :)

DelSol I was told at my last annual exam to lose before starting TTC and ended up gaining. We started TTC already anyways. I have my next appt in a couple weeks and am nervous to see what she says, but I did just start working on my wt again and darn it my clock is ticking!
Chris~n~Jen
03-12-2006, 02:54 PM
DelSol, I was also told that I should lose some weight before TTCing. She didn't push it as a neccessity but just said that I would be less likely to have problems and it would just more than likely, have an easier pregnancy if I lost some weight.
I did join a gym about a month ago and have been going at least three times a week. I've also just made an effort to eat healthier. Even doing all this, I am only down 2 pounds on the scale, but after doing my body fat analysis my body fat percentage has dropped quite a bit. I've gained my muscle and water weight. Just thought I would share! ;)
Threadmistress, can you please add DH & I's ages to our profile. I'm 28 and he is 29. Thank you!

Hi everyone!!
Just curious - when did you all start wearing maternity clothes? I just got my BFP on Saturday :) I need some new "spring" clothes - but I don't want to buy anything in my current size because I'm concerned I'll grow out of it quickly. Right now I'm a 16/18.
Thanks!

Congrats on your BFP!
jennylou
03-13-2006, 07:24 AM
I'm honestly still wearing some of my non maternity pants. Look for things that are comfy - preferrably with some elastic in the waist and you'll be able to get by for some time. Those are the pants that I'm still able to wear - they have elastic, but they're still normal with a zipper and all. Oh, and they're a stretchy material too - so that probably helps. :)

With my first pregnancy I didn't start wearing them until I was about 18-20 weeks. With this pregnancy, my normal pants are just so uncomfortable, I have been wearing maternity since about 6 weeks. Each person is different though. I have regular clothes from last pregnancy that my husband bought in regular clothes and I can wear them through the pregnancy, since they are 1 size bigger than I normally wear.

EARLY. 6 weeks maybe. My clothes were just getting tighter than I like them and causing my upper stomach to hang over more. I refused to buy regular clothes in a bigger size so I went right to maternity. The maternity pants I bought so far I'm sure I won't be able to wear the whole time. They just have the elastic band. Not a full panel. But the part under the band, where the pants really start is starting to get tighter now (I'm 11w3d).
I love them though. I think I've waited my whole life to be able to wear elastic waist jeans!!!

I asked my doctor the first time I saw her if I would be tested early for gestational diabetes and she said no (I was 216 then (10 weeks) and have thankfully not gained any weight yet...though I think I was probably 5 lbs less when I actually got pg). I hadn't been told to loose weight prior to ttc, but my doctor told me that was because I was under 200 lbs (granted...like 3 lbs under) but in her eyes that was the cutoff amount for me (I don't think she would have told me to loose 100 lbs if I had weighed in at 300).
I did some laundry the other day and some of my 18W pants were still in the wash and I just washed them and put them in the closet for post-pg. They may still fit, but probably aren't as comfortable. So they are there in the closet with the couple pairs of regular 18 jeans I bought when I first got pg and all my 16s from last year. They will be my incentive once the baby is born.
A friend of mine is having to loose 30 lbs before continuing with ttc. The doctor thinks she may have PCOS (I am a little leary about this diagnosis since she has already done 3-4 monitored insemination cycles) but she finally went to a regular endicrinologist and her sugar levels aren't good. My heart breaks for her - I think it is hard for her because she has 2 friends who are over 300 lbs and over 38 years old and both got pg right away (shes 36 years old and weighs about 220) but her doctor tells her that pg issues and weight affect everyone differently.
Yesterday I was at my client and thought I would get a lot of plus size maternity clothes from a friend of mine (best friend of above mentioned friend) but she really didn't have a lot and while she seems to be the same size as me, for some reason all her clothes look really small. So I think I will be buying the rest of my maternity clothes on my own - I hate to buy any more but I am really desparate! Right now I am wearing a pair of pants that is WAY too big!!

To answer the latest question about losing weight: No, I had a pretty lengthy discussion w/my OBGYN at my annual and she felt that I was fine getting PG at the weight I'm at. She did advise me to continue exercising and eating well. She also said that once I did get PG, she would want me to go to see the nutritionist at the hospital to ensure I was eating well and not gaining too much weight. I was almost afraid to have the conversation with her, but she was wonderful :)

I'm 7 weeks pg right now and obviously not showing yet - but the waistband on these is perfect for when you start growing your belly and probably well into the 2nd trimester. I just ordered another pair online. Oh, and there's a really cute zip up jacket to match!

I started to wear maternity clothing at around 10 weeks, I think. I was mostly just needing elastic waist pants and all of my other clothing had regular waists... I think the key is to actually buy clothes a size larger than your pre-pregnancy stuff so you have some of a transition wardrobe after the baby is born. If you plan to breastfeed, buy some of those shirts to wear now so you get lots of use. :) You may be lucky and not need them later, but I needed mine until DD was 6 months old - I was not too quick to lose and am still working on it.

So I'm sorta puzzled.
I started spotting on CD 27 started my 'period' on CD 30. Never tested thinking that AF had come. So 4 days with lighter flow than normal and not as many cramps but still red/pink then one or two days of spotting then 3 days of nothing and today I start spotting. This has NEVER happened after af NEVER so I'm like I wonder so I dribble as much as I can in a cup dip a mid stream Answer and less than 2 minutes 2 lines. Less than 1 minute on the digital and it says Pregnant. Now I'm concerned b/c I'm spotting. What the heck is going on in there?!?

Thanks Girls!!!
I just got back from the Dr. Basically he said not to freak out, that (and I didn't know the number was this high) 50% of women have some kind of spotting or bleeding early in pgcy. Cramping and PINK/bright red blood are not normal. So, given that I only had some cramps on Saturday night after running non stop all day and not since and (TMI) the bleeding isn't profuse (defined as needing a tampon or frequent pad changes) that I'm to think and act like I am pregnant and take care of myself accordingly.
I had my betas drawn today and I should know something by tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest if my numbers are in the appropriate range. If my
**ETA (from my LJ)- if my numbers are where they should be for 5weeks (based on LMP) that they'll follow up with me in 3 weeks for a full OB visit and confirm Pgcy with an US.
Thanks for your continued thoughts and prayers! :o

lynzey - it's important to have two betas drawn. One doesn't really tell you much as there is an incredible range. You need two, drawn 48 - 72 hours apart to be able to tell if they are doubling.

We conceived on vacation too, though in the country, in Florida. We were at a wedding a month ago in Florida and saw a ton of people we saw in November. We told everyone that she was a little souvenir from the Patriots/Dolphins game last fall...but now that I think about it, that was a little weird. Obviously we are all adults and know what it takes to make a baby, but now everyone knows why we didn't stick around for the after-game tailgating :)
If the schedule permits, we'll be doing back down this fall to the annual party to show off our souvenir.

Hope everyone else is doing well... I've been without internet access for a week so trying to get caught up...
Well I had my annual exam yesterday... the CNP said it's time to start some testing and and is passing me on to the OB/GYN... she said he's really good and has helped lots of couples with ovulation issues get pg. So I have an appt with him April 26... (day after my bday, let's hope he can help me get a bday present!) She did do some prelim bloodwork (I think thyroid panel, blood sugars, and prolactin... she said she suspected insulin resistance). She said after my appt with the Dr I would most likely get put on glucophage (metformin?) and Clomid. But I got a message on the machine this afternoon that my bloodwork was normal. Hopefully they'll figure something out at my next appt though!

Congrats neen and Lynzey! That's wonderful news.
I've decided to come out of lurkedom (since I haven't actually posted in forever). I actually ovulated this month (2 days before my b-day - what a present!!!). We bought a Clearblue Fertility Monitor a couple of months ago and I've been using it since. Last month no ovulation, but this month suddenly there it was, 3 bars (peak fertility). DH and I DTD and now I'm in the 2 WW. It's KILLING me!!!!! I'm 8 DPO today. On one hand I'm very excited to have finally ovulated, even if we don't get pregnant this month. On the other hand I'm afraid if it didn't work this month, who knows how long until I ovulate again! I told myself I would wait at least until April 1 to test, I'd be 12 DPO by then. I'm sure I can last that long. Then again, I really don't want to see a BFN so I considered not testing unless I'm like 3 weeks late. But who am I kidding, I can't wait that long.
Anyway, all this to say keep your fingers crossed for us!!!!!

Thanks neen.
I'm sitting on pins and needles. I am absolutly DYING to test. It's only 11 DPO today so I know it's too early. I want to give myself until CD32 which would be next Wednesday (April 5th). At that point I'd be 16 DPO. We'll see if I make it that long. Of course in the meantime EVERYTHING is a symptom! My boobs are sore (which they were when I was pg with my 1st one) and I feel little twinges in my lower abdomen. Yeah, I know, those could be pg symptoms, but they could also just be me making a mountain out of a molehill.

That is, until we got our BFP this month and I waited to test on my typical AF arrival day. Got a BFN, retested the next morning and got the "correct" result. ;) I hope this happens for you, too! :D

need, you're certainly giving me hope!
Of course I couldn't wait to test and got a BFN. However, I'm only on CD30. I'm somewhere between 12 and 14 DPO. Average cycle length used to be 32 days, so technically I'm not late yet. I guess I'll wait until the end of the week. By then I'll either have gotten my period or I'll be able to test. [TMI]Yesterday after I wiped I saw a couple of teeny tiny spots of blood. I do mean teeny tiny. So first I thought I was starting. Now it's morning and I still haven't started. I'm secretly hoping that it is implantation spotting. I just need to stop thinking about it!!!!

dani: sorry about the BFN - I hope AF stays away & you get a BFP in the next few days.
We only got some free time on friday afternoon while we were up there & it was raining so I did not call ya (it rained 2 out of 4 days there... blah) ... hopefully we will be able to meet up one day.

Adrienne, Thanks. And no problem about not calling. We were at the ballfield pretty much all day Saturday. They were suppose to have a game at 9:00 am, but that got delayed because of the rain on Friday night, so their 2nd game that was suppose to start at 3:00 pm didn't start until 4:30 pm. So we sat at the ballfield and waited  . Sorry you guys had so much rain! Hope your trip was good otherwise.

Well, no BFP for me this month. AF arrived in the middle of the night. That was odd too, only happened once before in my whole life. Luckily I woke up from the cramps before anything actually "started". Told DH this morning and he just hugged me.
I guess I'm happy that I ovulated. Though now I am wondering when the next ovulation will be. Another 6 or 7 months???? I just really don't want to wait that long. I ugess I'll see what happens this cycle and if I don't ovulate I will call my doc. We originally said we'd wait until after the summer (because I'm only 30 and I'm in the process of loosing weight which he wanted me to continue), if I'm not pregnant by then we'll start clomid. But he did say if I didn't want to wait we could start sooner. It's just killing me month after month. I mean it's been 1 1/2 years since my m/c. I'm just so over this emotional roller coaster every.single.month!

Lynzey, I had to come out of lurkdom to say that I'm so sorry to see what you posted. We're here for you.
Hi everybody, I haven't really posted in this thread because we were waiting to TTC but now we are kind of not trying NOT to have a baby anymore. I am still working on losing weight but whatever happens happens. I also started taking Vitex.

Welcome Etoile
Well I'm back from 10 days petsitting and being offline.... updated my chart info on the computer and it gave me dotted crosshairs, but I really don't think I O'd.
Keeping it short today as I'm behind on emails... have a great night everyone!

ABirney -I'd be pretty skeptical about O date as well. I don't know about you, but my chart is a little funky this month due to the time change. I also just noticed your location - do you live West River or on the eastern side of the state?

Hey there, hope everyone is doing well. Nothing new here except I had some strange CM... my TCOYF book is still packed so maybe someone can help me... (TMI) It was a fair amt of somewhat stretchy but cloudy but it disappeared after a few seconds... could it be sr?? (how long does that stay? It was almost 24 hrs later.... ) The disappearing is what I found strange... any ideas? Also was a round wet spot in undies... not normal for me.
kanga I'm east river.... how about you?
kanga1622
04-11-2006, 06:37 AM
ABirney - I usuall classify that as creamy if it doesn't stretch at least 1 inch. It could be a mix of creamy/wet which would account for the round spot it left behind. ----- I'm east river also. I can't believe I found another one of us online! :) Usually everyone from SD that I've met on WC or CC is West River. Finally, someone else that knows SF does not refer to San Francisco. :p

I hope this hasn't been asked before, but I have a wedding to go to in the middle of May, and I need to find a semi-formal/dressy maternity outfit. Which store has the best selection for us plus-size gals? I usually wear an 18-20, possibly a 22. I just have not had much luck finding anything that didn't resemble a big flowery tent that got lost in the 80's. And I am so not wearing that!

lylmyss - jcpenney.com has two very cute black maternity dresses (that are CHEAP!) that could probably be dressed up with jewelry/accessories :)

ok I guess it's time for me to officially join this thread.
Me: Sarah (29)
Dh: Jason (29)
last BCP: Feb 2006
TTC: Feb 2006 but RE advised to wait two cycles before starting but we aren't being to careful
Know Issues: PCOS
Meds: Metformin
I've been lurking for awhile in here but thought it was time to say hello. I have PCOS (Dx back in 98/99) and have been on the pill since then. My last pill was in Feb and I've been sitting around waiting to see what my body does/what met make smy body due. The first cycle off of the pill was exactly 28 days. I'm pretty sure I O'd but I'm not charting or anythign right now. This cycle, well today is cd30 and my bbs hav ebeen hurthing like heck for the last 4 days and I've got major cramps but no sign of AF. Last cycle my BBs hurt for almost 2 weeks so I'm thinking that this time I O'd later so I'm just waiting to see what by body is doing.

lylmiss - how about this one from Motherhood Maternity:
http://www.motherhood.com/Images/Products/0440.jpg
It's slightly longer than the usual knee length styles out there (which I can't stand because when I sit down I think it shows too much leg!).
ETA: JC Penney plus size is only available online or through their catalog, so if it doesn't fit, you have to keep taking things back.
OOOOHHH...you should check out Sears too. I've found plenty of cute things there. :) And the best part is - I think they stock all of their stores with plus size clothes (not even Motherhood does that!).

I failed my glucose test by 1 point and need to go for the 3 hour test next week. Even if I pass that one, it really is a wake up call for me that I need to start eating better (though I am not sure if I can abstain from chocolate ice cream for 3 months). And now that I am at 27+ weeks, I feel a little more comfortable working out (just not too much....but the treadmill in our basement needs a little loving). I need to go buy a bigger sports bra and I just order some draw string shorts from motherhood (bought some more every day shorts as well since I only have 1 pair and it is finally starting to get warm).
A little depressed these days as our 1st anniversary is approaching and I weigh 45 pounds more than I was at our wedding (only 15 of that is been added by being pg (though I am not sure of what I weighed when I actually got pg - I am talking up 15 lbs since the doctor started weighing me).

jesseybell~ as long as you don't have GD, a small serving of chocolate ice cream is FINE!!! If you do have GD, will your doc allow you to eat Splenda? Breyers makes a delicious line of ice cream sweetened with Splenda and I think several other do, too.
Happy Anniversary!! The 45lbs can come off later! This is a time to celebrate you and your DH. :) Plus, after the baby is born, you can go walking every day until the snow arrives. :D

Does anyone have a baby sling reccommendation for a plus-sized woman?
I'm looking at slings to carry my baby in, but my DH is quite slim and I am a size 20 pre-pregnancy. I'm thinking the sling may just be for me if we can't get one to fit both of us.

Sare - have to say I don't know of many guys that would wear a sling to carry the baby around in. Most are ok with a carrier but not slings. We are getting this sling for me: http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000BH79T2.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
and also looking at getting something similar to this carrier: http://i.walmart.com/i/p/00/07/14/63/03/0007146303460_500X500.jpg We liked this one because it doesn't have to fasten around our waists (as hubby and I are both on the heavier side) Both were very comfortable on and will do the job.

Hi ladies.. .just a little update on me. I had a dr appt on Wednesday to find out why I'm not O'ing and what to do about it.. He told me I most likely have PCOS and insulin resistance... (he had bloodwork done the next morning to confirm it, haven't gotten results back yet). But after talking about things with him, he put me on metformin and I am going to just work on my wt for now and hold of on TTC... he said hopefully with hard work and the meds we can start trying again by the end of summer. So I started the meds Thurs evening and have been really watching what I eat and so far so good. Anyone been on metformin before? He said it could cause some "pukey, poopy problems" (his words.. lol) but I'm ok so far. He did start me on 1/2 dose for a week (1 tab with supper) but am supposed to go up to 2 tabs after the week and stay at that level. Anyone who's been on it, how long does it take to start working? Because I had a fair amt of EWCM for the first time in months today... hmmmmm.
Sorry for the long rambling post...

abirney: I have been on Metformin for quite awhile now - I had poopy problems at 1st (for like 2 wks) then my body got used to the meds. I am up to 1700 a day (2-850 pills) I have PCOS & I believe metformin along with Clomid 50mg is what helped get me preg. I took the clomid for 3 months then got off of it & got preg 2 months after being off of it. Good luck to you.

abirney, I too am on Metformin (for the same reasons). My doc actually started me out on 1 x 850mg per day and when I got used to that (about a week) upped it to 2 x 850mg per day. However, that was still too much apparently because I had "puckey and poopy problems" BAD. So he gave me 500mg tabs and told me to take 1 per day for the 1st week, 2 per day for the 2nd week, 3 per day for the 3rd week and then finally try the 2 x 850mg again. It took me about a month, but I'm used to it now. I have to say that I still go to the bathroom (#2 - sorry TMI) more than I think I ever have in my live. And, I notice that it's worse when I don't eat right. It really is an insentive to eat better :D .
It took my body about 3 months of taking Metformin to start "normalizing". I have still only ovulated once since I started taking it, but everything else seems to be going back to normal. My doc said if I'm not pregnant by the end of the summer (August) he'll put me on Clomid.
Good luck with the Metformin!
Adrienne, haven't "talked" to you in a while! How are you?? Ready for that baby? It's so close!

hi ladies! Thanks for sharing your input on the metformin. Still going good so far, no s/e's to speak of. I'm still on 1 tab/night for tonight, I increase to 2 tabs tomorrow. So we'll see if that makes a difference.

LadyD, so sorry about the m/c! Hope you won't have to TTC for long!
Adrienne, the World Series for the 9 y/o's is in Southaven again. We're just not sure we're going yet. It will all depend on what kind of All Stars team we can put together. Right now we're having a hard time coming up with 10 players - we have 5 that are solid, the rest are so-so. We're also discussing teaming up with the 10 y/o's and playing up. If we do that then the WS will be in Moody, AL. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.
I'm so excited for you! I'm sure you're just about ready to be done with this pregnancy and meet your precious daughter!
