I'm so shocked that my heart rate hasn't slowed and I only slept for a hour last night. We told my mom last night (she lives down the street!) and are telling his parents tonight. I'm getting blood done tomorrow.

Tomorrow is my due date and I really dont think I'll be seeing any little cute chubby faces anytime soon. :( I hope she doesnt decide to wait 2 weeks longer!! It's cold out! BRrrr.. Hello ladies! Thank you all for the congrats, I still have a hard time it's really happening to me :D
Ajb~ Beautiful, you really are glowing!! :)
I have a question though. I'm a thick thighed girl with wide hips and my pants are already getting tight around the belly area(distention and junk). I went to Motherhood and their jeans seem to run small and I need some pants soon. Any thoughts on where to get pants that fit to size or really well for this early??? THANKS!
P.S I'm not really wanting to buy a bigger size, those are normally too long on me.

lovely belly shot ajb!!
Anyone heard from the mom's due now? I've been lurkin gin the monthly threads, but darn they're busy!!
dan's, i found motherhood's to be incredibly small running!! I found 1 pair of jeans there in a "relaxed" style, but damn, those won't last me long, I tell ya. I think I'll be living in Yoga pants for this pregnancy. I've looked online and Lane bryant (sp?) has what seems like a great selection of sizes! If it wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg to ship it up here, I'd buy from them no prob.
jennylou
10-14-2005, 04:54 AM
Red - is it shipping and handling that costs an arm and a leg? Would it be cheaper if one of us could buy them and ship them to you? Also, do you have a Sears near you? They had some nice 3X jeans...not sure if they would work for you....they were full belly panel jeans.

Astara, Shushyk...any news? I hope all is well.
I posted a vent in the SAI thread. Basically, I've just finished my first round of Clomid and the dr tells me to start taking Glucophage and if I don't my chances for miscarriage are enormous. So, I'm frustrating. I don't like taking medicine and I'm not taking it. I told her that and she suggested to stop drinking pop and eating chips and candy bars. Of course she said it in a nice way, but it was just the point. We'll see how things go with this cycle. Otherwise, I'll probably be taking a little break.

Hi everyone,
I have been a busy mama keeping up with that growing boy!! Since I had 4 m/c this experience has been so sureal knowing that I am finally a real mom!
So was the most fantasmal part of the delivery hearing.... IT'S A BOY!?!
I'm so wanting a surprise for that very moment!
The entire thing was unreal. When his head was out I had them put the mirror there, so I could see him come out. Then when they put him on me, I couldn't believe it. The dr. asked DH what is it, my mom was in the backround asking what is it... and I finally looked down and said a BOY - and we all cried and cried - ENJOY
I gotta run, there is so much to do and so little time. Hi everyone, I will be back for more updates in a week or so when the company leaves.

I thought I had introduced myself, but I guess not. I've been lurking for a couple of months but didn't have anything to post since I didn't O until this cycle so we are in our first 2WW.
Me: Jessie, 35
DH: Dan, 33
Married: 5/21/05
Off BCP: July 05
First Cycle O: Sept/Oct 05
Known issues: Endometriosis
I am feeling extremely bloated right now. My attempts to loose weight have definitely been thwarted by ttc. I really should try. For all we know it will be a long road until we are pg and the scale just can't keep going up (its gone up way too much since the wedding, though in my defense I did quit smoking during that time!)

I will be getting another u/s and a NST.. and scheduling inductment. I hope I go into Labor this week! Also, DH is going to take his Paternity Leave tonight because he thinks his assistant might be trying to get another job somewhere, so DH doesnt want to be caught with that to worry about, so he's taking his leave so somebody else will I hope everyone has a wonderful day and week & I hope to join you mommies soon!

A couple of questions...
Have you ladies found a carrier that fits well? I haven't tried them on in the store yet, but I'm worried about them not fitting a plus size body well. I'm not sure if I'll be registering for one, but I thought it would be worth looking into.
Another question....how about boppys? We've registered for one, but I think it will be more for baby's tummy time than for my use. I'm not sure it will fit around my waist! Any mom's with experience?
Thanks :)

My goal right now is to stop my jeans from cutting off my circulation...LOL
Everything after that is a bonus. ;) No seriously, I'd like to be about the size I was when I got married, as far as clothing. I used to fit really comfy in a 16 or some 14s. Right now 16s are excrutiating and some 18s are a little tight. That needs to change. I also have more energy when I work out. So, that's always a plus...for various reasons ;)

Just a drive by posting, hope all is well with everyone. Yeah Astara!! Congrats. Can't wait to hear all about it.
I've told myself that if I am not pg this cycle (and even if I am) I NEED to eat healthier and start using my new treadmill. Ttcing (since it is our first real month) has been stressing me out....Working out is a good way to get rid of stress, I know! But getting dressed and downstairs is half the battle.
My 16s are even feeling a little tight in the belly, but I will NOT buy more clothes. I just bought a bunch of 16s a few weeks ago. I need to go on a South Beach type diet again so when I do get pg, I'll know the tummy is from being pg, not being heavy. I used to never have a tummy, I hate it!

Hi Ladies! I had my 2nd big u/s on Tuesday and we are having a little boy!
I am still feeling really good. Thankfully besides back pain I can't complain too much. I do have a question for those of you who have been PG before. When did you start gaining your weight? So far I'm actually down 2 lbs. and I'm 20 weeks. Not that I'm complaining or anything, but I just don't to be totally surprised when I weigh myself one morning and have gained 5lbs.
My doc didn't seem too concerned with my lack of weight gain as long as I started putting on some by 25 weeks.
annielynn
10-21-2005, 07:28 AM
Andrea I started gaining my weight around 16-18 weeks. It came on pretty gradually. I think that the biggest jump that I had was 3lbs at one visit. I am going to have to go and look at my journal now! :) Congrats on the baby boy. You and DH are going to have a lot of fun!
jennylou
10-21-2005, 07:37 AM
andrea - I didn't gain much weight at all in the first tri or the second tri. The total up until about 35 weeks was about 12 pounds. Then the third tri (actually 2 weeks) got me. And it was shocking to step on the scale and have the nurse tell me I'd gained 14 pounds. I still think they must have recalibrated their scales during that time. :p
sunshineab622
10-21-2005, 09:45 AM
AJB: awwwww a boy :) Well I gained most of my weight the 3rd trimester ... I remember the doctor telling me ...I gained 7 lbs in one week ... that was crazy. I gained a total of 30 - my good friend on the other hand she only gained 8 her whole pregnancy. They said plus size women should gain between 15-20 and skinny minnies usually gain between 25-35

I just saw this, and thought I would share it... so precisely what I am sure many of us would like to say to the world and to our health care providers!!!
Are you a plus-size mom-to-be in what seems like a size-6 world? No matter your size, you have every right to be treated with care and respect. In this open letter to doctors, nurses and midwives caring for big beautiful women, one mom outlines her terms for a successful caregiver-patient relationship.
I know who I am
Understand that I know, better than anyone else in the world, what my body size is and how it affects me, my health and my baby. Listen to me. Respect my intuitions about my body and my baby. Praise me when I've gained a pound, five pounds -- "Good, that baby's growing!"
Touch me gently, with respect and consideration. Talk to me as an equal. Respect my intelligence. See my body as human, not ugly or abhorrent. Pay attention to me. Watch my belly grow and comment on it when you measure, tell me how beautifully I'm growing a healthy baby.
If my baby's heartbeat is hard to find, blame it on the machine or that active little one, not on my belly. Don't blame me. Don't shame me. Don't patronize me or sneer when I step on a scale. Know that your eyes and your face say as much as your mouth.
Be aware of your own biases and prejudices. Acknowledge your humanness as well as my own. Give me personal attention. Educate me, and let me educate you. Be open to new ideas, even if they seem foreign to you. Don't handle me or speak to me roughly. Anger isn't going to help you or me.
Understand that I am unique. I am not like "every other fat woman" you've ever treated. Please don't treat me as a national average. If my body size makes you assume things about me and how my body is going to react to pregnancy, try to remember that I am not a statistic. Do not make pregnancy complications a self-fulfilling prophecy. Give me a chance to grow a healthy baby. Know that I love my body and I love this life growing inside of me as much as any other mother you have ever seen.
Do not stand apart and judge me. Instead, enter into a relationship with me. I am not foreign, I am not "other," I am human, I am just like you. Do not treat me like a child and talk down to me.
There are some things you CAN assume: Assume that I already know or have heard at some point that I would lose weight if I would "just decrease my caloric intake and increase my exercise." Assume that I have had 'the talk' about my "weight issues." Assume, too, that someone at some point has suggested that I seek counseling or therapy for my "emotional eating."
I am not entering into this relationship with you to solve the problem of my body size. I am entering into this relationship because I love my baby and want him or her to be born healthy and whole. I am who I am, right now, this minute, and the next nine months aren't going to create a magical overnight change in my body size or my psyche when it comes to my weight. Don't pressure me to be something or someone I am not.
Try to see me as human, and as beautiful, as everything human can be. Share the joys with me, the heartbeat, the movements. Sympathize with the discomforts, the heavy belly, the aching ligaments, the morning sickness -- without judgments, please. My aches and pains, my joys and sorrows, are the same AND different than any other woman in the world, regardless of her body size. Give me your support. Give me your hand. Look into my eyes. Smile. We are in this together, and we want the same exact things

I subscribed to this thread because we are starting TTC. (Or whatever the correct grammar would be)
We're not charting yet, we thought we would try to focus on getting healthy now- as far as vitamins, going for walks, etc, and see if it happens for us without charting. As far as I can tell, it's not that likely. :)
I have found the insights and thoughts from you ladies to be amazingly helpful!

I began getting small contractions that morning at 8 am.. they were extremely bearable and I thought it was false labor. Around 5pm They started coming about 6-1 minute apart so we called our clinic just to make sure.. we were sure it wasnt the real thing! We went in, we were told I was a 3cm and was almost in active labor. My Midwife told me to go home (I live 5 mins from the hospital) and come to the hospital @ 7pm. We came home, and my contractions became even more unbearable.. I was having one about every 2-3 minutes. 15 minutes later we raced to the hopsital. The midwife gave all the nurses a heads up that we were coming so they were all expecting us. We got right into a laboring room & thats when (the moment we got the room) my contractions became incredibly horrible. I was humming and breathing through them.. I found that when I panicked or let go of control the pain was 100 times worse. I was puking left and right while having contrax... ouch. I was progressing extremely fast. around 8:30 I wanted an epidural but was told I needed to wait an hour so that my labor wouldnt slow down. Finally around 9:30 I was begging.. Everytime I had a contraction I would say "epidural, epidural.. I need an epidural.." I didnt care if it sputtered out my labor at that point. I was checked and was told I was 7-8 and could get my epi! The epi lady came and administered the meds.. It was perfect. I could still feel my legs, There was just no pain.. I could even still feel the pressure and had the urge to push. I told them when my urge was to much to hold in and they let me start pushing. about 10 pushes later (i didnt even get out of breathe!) Genevieve Grace Patricia was born @ 1:23 am, 8lbs 6oz. She's an extremely quiet baby.. doesnt cry and barely fusses! I will be on later tonight to upload some pics. :) :) I am so in love!!!
I'll come back soon to catch up with the thread... looks like its finally been moving!!

Thought I would share my Great deal with you ....
I found 3 pairs of maturnity GAP pants (gray, black,& kacki) & 1 pair of blue jeans capris at a thrift store saturday & 2 of them still had the tags still on them. the pants were $4.50 ea. & the jeans were $2.50 wooohoo
Has anyone else bought maturnity clothes from Gap? These look like they are great quality. I have been looking at their website this morning & they have sizes up to 20 :)

sare, I've been struggling with this, as it seems like there is a complete lack of canadian plus size maternity out there. i tried thyme maternity, but they didn't have one-single-piece. Neither did Old navy, the bums. Sears was also a total flop, as their "plus size" went up to only 20. peh, no help for me!
I did get lucky at motherhood maternity, although the selection was dismal and I'm not happy with the fit of the jeans i got (the thighs are tight, but the ass is huge and the crotch pulls, not fun) and only go up to size 3x, which to me seems like a small 3x. The shirts fit fine, and I'll probably buy some different stretchy pants from them.
What I've done so far is actually go to Penningtons (my local regular plus size store) and buy larger sized clothes there, as well as yoga pants. I find regular plus size clothing makes more allowances for a preggo belly than non-plus clothes. The shirts are generally longer, and the pants usually have some kind of elastic waist. I'm not sure how long this will work, but the penningtons by me goes up to 28 so I'm sure I'll be able to find something even when I'm 9 months!
If I get desperate, lane Bryant ships to canada, and they have so awesome looking plus size mat. clothes, I'm just so worried about being burnt on the exchange, shipping and duty, ya know?
Ah the joys of being canadian in an american dominated world :p

Thanks Red!
I usually go to Penningtons or Addition-elle. I like most of their clothes, but I am worried about the work-ware. They don't tend to have as much room as the casual clothes. I just can't see my office allowing me to wear yoga pants everyday, although I would love to. My local ones go up to 28 as well, so I could definitely do the same as you.
Thanks so much!

I thought that I would throw my 2 cents in about a couple of questions that were asked. How you don't mind.
Have you ladies found a carrier that fits well?
Another question....how about boppys?
I use the Baby Bjorn that is extra long. I have never had a problem with fit. I love it.
My boppy. I really had to grow to love my boppy with breastfeeding. They are definitely not made for plus size people but if you keep with it the boppy will eventually will strectch to fit you. Everyone in my family used it in the beginning to hold our baby girl. So their arms wouldn't get tired.
Has anyone else bought maturnity clothes from Gap? These look like they are great quality. I have been looking at their website this morning & they have sizes up to 20 :)
I lived in Gap Maternity clothes. They were my favorite!
Congrats Astara on your beautiful baby girl.

I bought nursing tank tops from Target. They were great and only ran about 17 a piece.

The Boppy I do not know what I would do without this. I use it for everything.. to hold her, to feed her, I use it sometimes to sleep with even. It is extremely comftorble and it will conform to fit.. I didnt fit me when I was pregnant so I thought I'd have a problem with it fitting once I gave birth, but it hasnt at all.. it fits perfectly.
I have also found that I really love disposable changing pads.. we can throw one under Genevieve then she wont pee or poop on any blankets or anything & we can roll the diaper and wipes all up in it and throw it all away in the D.Genie together. Ahhhh.. so nice. The womb bear also is great.. any moms here used one??
I cant wait to see the ladies waiting for their BFP to get one!!! I hope its soon for all of you.. I already want another one! how crazy is that?! I will definitley be obsessing with you~

Me too. I loved being pregnant. Truely the only time I have ever been totally comfortable with how I looked. I was fat and proud. I didn't care who touched me. I said rub away. But we are going to wait till at least a year from now. I know that time will fly by.

my pleasure sare! If I might suggest for workware, i found that the panel pants at motherhood maternity seemed larger than the ones with the wide elastic tummy band going all around, so that might be something to consider. Definaitely try MM for work stuff if you need to. I'm lucky enough not to need work stuff. whew!

They are in the regular bra section. Usually on an end of an aisle. They are in plastic boxes.
This is what the boxes look like.

I think I have this shirt at home still. Let me get home tonight and see if I still have it and what size it is so that I can remember at what point I wore it during my pregnancy. I think it was a 1X and I felt like it ran small for my liking.
Wow I feel like I am hijacking this thread. Hope you don't mind.

I had the blue short sleeve version of the one with the ribbons and i thought it ran small... the fabric was also pretty thin. i dont think i wore it more than 5 times. i had a lot more luck with JC Penny tops.

I have both.. the red one I had to get a size bigger than normal and that one I got the same size I normally would (pre-preg). They are both really comftorble and I love them. For the pants I got the all around panel.. that gave me the best support but I had to get a size larger than I normally would wear.
ETA: For the second shirt, I cut out the inside tank shirt that it comes with and I just wear one of my own tank tops with it.. bc its ridiculously too much if you try to wear it with the tank that it comes with.

Hey Girls!
I haven't been here in quite a while. I had a cervical ectopic pregnancy last year (actually pretty much exactly a year ago). I had to have 2 shots of methotraxate to terminate the pregnancy last November. We've been TTC again since January, but we weren't really serious about it for the first few months because we had so much other stuff goin on.
Anyway, a few months ago we got serious about it again, but nothing happened. Ever since last year my cycles have been all out of whack. I used to have prefect 32 day cycles. I could set the calendar by it. Now my cycles are anywhere from 30 to 40 days long. More often than not they are 36+ days long. So I went for my annual yesterday and my doc said he thinks that I don't even ovulate during the longer cycles. When he said that I felt like I was getting hit in the head by a brick. I told him that I don't feel like I know my body anymore. I used to know exactly when I ovulated because I could feel it, now, I don't know anything anymore. Of course based on what he said it makes sense because you can't feel you're ovulating if you're not really ovulating! I have to go back Monday morning to get some bloodwork done and then make an appointment for the week after so we can disucss how to help me ovulate to increase my chances of getting pregnant. On top of everything I feel like I'm getting hot flashes. I'll have to discuss that with him when I go back because that makes me worry as well (you know, perimenopause or something like that).
It really sux because I never ever thought I would go through anything like that. When I got pregnant with my now 9 year old I was on the freakin pill for crying out loud. I wasn't even trying. And now that I am trying and want a baby I don't ovulate??? It just doesn't seem fair.
I really just had to get that out. I know there are options out there. From reading the family planning boards for a while I hear about drugs like Chlomid. But I know nothing about them.
Has anyone here had a problem like that? What was your plan of action?
Thanks in advance for any info/advice you girls can provide.
jennylou
10-28-2005, 08:34 AM
Dani - I don't ovulate. Not from pre menopause, but from PCOS. Clomid is the little magic pill for me (though I wish it would be quicker with its magic this go around!). My first cycle on it (last year) we conceived our son. This go around, we're about ready to start our fifth cycle of it. We are currently just with the OB/GYN. Having used it before, I don't hesitate using the OB/GYN. However, depending upon how much monitoring they'll be doing, you may want to switch to an RE (if they aren't going to monitor at all).

10-28-2005, 09:07 AM
Thanks for your input jennylou. I really trust my doc, so for right now I really want to stay with him. He is very good about excerting every option and being very thorough. I'll have to do some research on Clomid because I know absolutly nothing about this drug. I asked my doc about those ovulation test kits and he said they worked, but at this point he wouldn't recommend me spend the money on them because he really doesn't think I ovulate on a regular basis. It's just frustrating...
red_canuck
10-28-2005, 11:27 AM
Dani, have you tried charting to confirm that you aren't ovulating? I'm only asking because I have to wonder why the dr assumed that you weren't just because you had slightly longer cycles...Charting would definitely point out not only when you are ovulating or not, but it would also allow you to get to know your body again, which like you said you don't feel like you know. I adored charting, so I'm all about pimping it. There is tonnes of great info in the charting thread if you are interested.
For me, I charted for 2 plus years, and like Jenny, wasn't ovulating because of PCOS. I had incredibly long cycles that could only be ended with provera. I got my shot of 1 in a million though and freakily ovulated on CD 108 (108 days after my last period) naturally and got pregnant. Our next step this fall would have been clomid, so I had done a tonne of research on it.
DaniML
10-28-2005, 01:26 PM
red... No, I don't chart. I have the tools to do it, bought a BBT, downloaded a spreadsheet to keep up with it all, etc. I actually use the spreadsheet to keep track of cycle length, sore breasts, cramps, etc. It has a feature where you put in your temp and it will do the chart for you. Anyway, all that to say that I always forget to take my temp when I first wake up. I guess I really need to start doing that.
I guess I'm not really sure how my doc came to that conclusion. I just trust that he knows what he's talking about. I was looking up the symptoms for PCOS and I have quite a few of the symptoms. Except, I'm still getting my periods fairly regular, just not the way they used to come. I guess I'll find out more after my blood test.

I wasn't going to tell anyone else, but I got a BFN tonight. I was O'ing on our honeymoon, and I was expecting AF about 5 days ago. Still haven't got it. So I thought I would go out to the drug store and get me a HPT. I'm a bit disappointed, but not too surprised. My AF was messed up for a few months in the summer, went back to normal for the last three months and is now late.
The thing is, my CM was looking on track all month, and then today it looked like it does around O-time. Does that sound like anyone else?

Welcome Diana and MrsJackson05!!
I'm sorry Sare, that's rough. I think that perhaps your body geared up to O, but with the stress of your wedding and honeymoon decided to put the little eggie off for a while. If you're getting more EWCM now, I'd bet you're just about to ovulate. Delayed ovulation is really common during times of stress/excitment and travelling.
Do Ya'll mind if I have a little vent here?
So I'm having major belly envy right now. My mommy-to-be group buddies are starting to post more belly pics as their belly's pop, and I am green with envy  I'm feeling more like the goodyear blimb that glowingly pregnant, and that's no fun :( I need a sign that says :"yes, i'm fat, but I'm pregnant too!". The worst is that with my ongoing battle with m/s, I've had to tell some of my profs (i went back to University in Jan to earn another degree) about my pregnancy, but I feel like they think I'm lying cause I don't have the cute belly. PLUS.. I know my friends and family are checking out my stomach for signs of life, which is SO not comfortable when i've spent years getting the attention away from there. Even worse when they comment I'm not showing yet. Umm, yeah, I am, but it still looks like a big fatty po-tatty tummy, not a baby belly, thanks for pointing it out.
Seriously, My stomach has never stuck out past my boobs (thank god for big boobs!) and long/baggy shirts always hid it. Well now it's pushing out there. I swear! I want the world to rejoice over my stomach like I do, but it's so hard to let the old insecurities go, ya know?
Phew, that feels better to get that off my chest :) thanks ladies!

I feel that way now. We are not going to TTC #2 until next year sometime so it is always on my mind to lose some weight to make sure that I am healthy for that baby. So I feel your frustration. But I was overweight with #1 and everything was fine, so even if you don't lose all the weight you want it will be OK.

Kelly... you look so adorable!!! Love the belly shots!
I had blood drawn on Monday morning. Going back next Monday to discuss results and figure out where to go from here. You know, the not ovulating on a regular basis actually made a lot of sense. I have been without any kind of pretection for nearly 3 years and only got pregnant once. Before that I got pregnant TWICE while I was on the pill. So yeah, I'd say something is not going the way it should. We'll see what the doc says on Monday.

I felt like I needed to lose a bunch of weight pre-preg. too. I thought everything would be safer cuz i've heard so much talk about how you "cant be fat and pregnant AND have a healthy pregnancy" well I maintained my weight but didnt lose any when I found out I was pregnant. I lost 10 pounds in the first couple of months, only gained 25 lbs my entire pregnancy & had a text book preg. labor and delivery. I ate whatever I wanted too which included a lot of donuts.. oops ;) If you want to lose weight before TTC thats great .. but it really isnt the most important thing so dont stress out about it.
Red I know what you mean for sure.. I felt the same way.. I was in my reg. clothes comftorbly until like 23 weeks then i went to step-up pants before going into full fledge maternity @ 30 weeks.. thats when I really felt I looked preggo. You'll get there.

I agree- Kelly those were beautiful belly shots!
We're TTC right now and I am trying to "get healthier" not necessarily lose weight. I'd love to lose weight but I have a pretty hard time of it (like a lot of people) so if I can just be eating more balanced meals at normal times, getting to aquafit to keep my muscles healthy and remember to keep taking my vitamins and folic acid then I'm happy. And who knows- in the process I may even lose some weight!

What happened to everyone in here???
It's VERY quiet.....where'd everyone go?
Right now I'm in my 2WW. I O'd on the 22nd or 23rd, so officially my 2WW wait is over, I'm just to chicken to test. DH would rather me just wait and see if AF shows, than be disappointed with a BFN. And I think I agree.
I'm getting very anxious though. Today I have a headache, but over in the 2WW thread, some of the girls said that headaches were somewhat of a good sign. I'll take anything I can get! Wish me luck!

I am just wondering if anyone here has actually ever followed the things to try and conceive a boy/girl specifically. You know- that if you BD 4 days before O'ing that you will get a girl, etc.
I know that there is no scientific proof that it works, but I am interested to know if the old wives tales do come true.
We are at our first time trying now with a few days before O'ing while temping. It's all so... planned, although Joel thinks it's great that we have a schedule. Maybe he likes it better that we have a schedule to do it so much for the next week.

We aren't trying for any gender, even though DH really wants a boy (only boy on his dad's side to carry on the name)
I did tell him in advance that we would be having a more aggressive schedule this month. We stopped too soon last month. We are travelling so it is going to be more difficult. But I am stocked up with OPKs so I can test anywhere!
Have fun with your 'schedule' :)

Thanks for thinking of me! I appreciate it!
If I'm not pregant, I'm having the longest cycle ever. 37 days! Am I crazy for not testing?
Got a sore back, and I get a little queasy every day at about 10:30 AM. That's great for the preschoolers, let me tell ya!
I'm way to chicken to test. I want to, but after all these symptoms, I'm going to be very disappointed to see a BFN, which is possible!

Let me put it this way....what's worse not knowing or BFN.

Just my two cents.

How are your trials with TTC coming? I hope all is going well. Are you charting, or anything? I haven't even thought about doing that stuff, just because I can hardly remember to take a pill in the morning, let alone wake up early enough to temp. I appreciate the comments about weightloss before PG. It's reassuring to know that it's possible to have a healthy PG even though you're bigger.

We're doing well. I've been temping for a week now, and we've been BD'ing every day for the last few days, and it looks like I'll be O'ing on Monday. We'll have been married for 4 weeks Saturday, and let's face it, I was way too stressed leading up to the wedding to have regular ...um... BD'ing, so Joel is pretty damn happy. :D
As for taking pills, I am pretty good at that from taking all of my other medications for my fibromyalgia, so adding Folic and the Women's vitamins is nothing! Turns my 8 pills a day to 10.
I wasn't planning on charting but my cycle was really out of whack in the 6 months prior to the wedding, so I wanted to know when to be expecting AF and when I'd be O'ing. It doesn't seem like a major inconvenience (yet!) anyway.
I have to say, I really love having this forum. Not only people who understand my body issues, but just having someone to talk to about these things. Many of my friends are not ready to have kids, and don't understand when I am upset about not conceiving. Thanks girls!

That's funny! I know how that goes...we just got married on September
10th, and it was the same way here. DH loves this TTC stuff.
Turns my 8 pills a day to 10.
Holy Moley! I would never be able to do that......:o
I understand about the forum, I too have friends that are so far from TTC, that they will be in shock if we're pregnant. I guess that every couple is different!
I still don't know about the whole charting thing. I think it would just frustrate me. I get that way too easily, anymore. It's bad.
Anywho.......I tested this morning, and it of course, was a defunctional test. All it said was "See Leaflet" DH was even ready to go in and tell me the results, and when he did, all it said was that. He was really disappointed.
Now, I'm frustrated. I have NO more tests here at home, and today I'm going to be out of town, so I could stop somewhere and get some. But then, my aunt is going to be with me, and she's gonna figure it out.
I'd buy some at the store here in town, but by the time that I would walk out the door, the whole county would know and we decided to wait 'til christmas to tell anyone if we are preggo.
I live in a small, small town with population of people with big, big mouthes. Not fun.
So, hopefully I'll be able to sneak some in somewhere and be able to test tonight.
Wish me luck!

Hi girls!
Well, I got my results from the doc. Actually I got them on Monday, but I've been so busy I haven't had time to post.
PCOS with borderline diabetis. So, he put me on Metformin to regulate my insulin. He did however tell me that that is where most (if not all) of my problems come from. The fact that I have such a hard time loosing weight, the really heavy painful periods, the irregular periods, etc. So, he said that with the Metformin, along with a healthy diet, I should not only be able to loose weight, but I should also be able to get pregnant. He said that this has a higher sucess rate than Clomid, but if we needed to we can add Clomid later. He really does feel that once we get my insulin and weight under control I will start ovulating on a regular basis again and thus, get pregnant. He did say that there is no quick fix. I asked him about a time frame and he said about 6 months. I have to go back in 3 months for a re-check.
I'm just so glad to finally know what's wrong with me!!!!! Now that I know, I can fix it and then finally get pregnant.

Not trying to burst anyone's bubbles, but I was put on Met-formin for metabolic syndrome almost a year ago and was on weight watchers following a strict diet, and I still had a really hard time losing weight. My doctor tried varying the dose, and I still remain on it to help me from gaining weight. When I was first prescribed met-formin, I really thought it was a wonder drug, but it's still a lot of work to lose the weight.
The great thing about it, is that I don't gain any more weight, and I also don't have the sugar shakes (episodes where I feel really dizzy from too much or not enough sugar) anymore.
I don't want this post to come off as negative, I just wanted to share my experience.
DaniML

Thanks for sharing your experience, Sare. My doc definetly said it's not a wonder drug and that it alone will not make me loose weight. I guess I'll just have to try it and see. If it doesn't work then I'll have to tell him that we need to do something else.
I am glad to hear that it really does help with not gaining any more weight and the sugar shakes. We'll see what happens.

dani - I wholeheartedly recommend checking into the South Beach Diet. I've been on Met and not done anything except excercise = no weight loss, but I did lose inches. Met and WW = lost about 10 pounds and then nothing. Met and South Beach = 30 pounds since July.

Southbeach isn't that bad! I hate diets because I always feel hungry. Once the initial two weeks was up of the diet it was a breeze! Seriously, even if you start on phase II you'll still lose weight. It's basically about getting out the crap carbs and only eating the good for you ones (beans, whole wheat). We (DH had to change his way of eating too!) can eat pasta (whole wheat) and that's the biggest thing (that and bread) for DH. Of course, that also means no potatoes, though you can have sweet potatoes.

So I just got back from my new Dr. and guess what ladies... I need to loose some weight?!? haha If I could vanish 10 pounds for every time I've heard that from a dr. But I liked his style and the truth doesn't offend me so hey. The only thing we disagree about is his thoughts on waiting to have kids til I lose some weight. Errr Not happening - so hey we move on. I mean I've lost 48&1/2 pounds since someone told me that last time and frankly when is enough - enough???
He seemed really gung ho that MET will help the weight come off faster and easier if my Fasting B/S comes back where it's warrented. He wants to get me going on a low dose.
Thoughts?:o

Without being able to see that data, I'd say that you could just be having a longer cycle. What are your normal cycle lengths? Have you recently come off the pill?
Lynzey - Can I call BS on your dr? Seriously, with the recent weight loss that you've had he should see that you're trying and that you realize it's important to lose some weight. But to tell someone not to get pregnant until they have lost all the weight? Garbage. Many, many overweight women get pregnant everyday. And, while it's true that some will develop complications like GD, hypertension, etc, that's also true of our skinny counterparts. If you are fairly healthy to begin with you as an overweight gal isn't doomed to a horrible pregnancy. Did he think you had PCOS and that's why he recommended the met?

Honestly, I thought that my cycle lengths were around 33 days. This cycle has been 40 days. (That's counting from the first day of my last AF.) That's how I was told to count it.
I guess I shouldn't be too upset that maybe it didn't happen this cycle. I really don't know all that much about my cycle, and I have lots of learning to do.
I've never been on the pill, and have never skipped a period or been this late (that I can remember!) I'm so confused!

Lynzey If you are fairly healthy to begin with you as an overweight gal isn't doomed to a horrible pregnancy. Did he think you had PCOS and that's why he recommended the met?
No - I'm pre diabetic with high fasting blood sugar is why he suggested the Met to help it come off easier and faster, but from talking with all you ladies that doesn't always work but I'm going to buy the SBD books I think b/c it wouldn't be that hard for me to give up carbs since I'm allergic to yeast and shouldn't be eating it anyway.
And he didn't say I HAD to loose weight just he thinks I should loose weight (which all drs tell me since my bmi is over 30 which I was looking today and I've dropped from 49 to 38 with the weightloss so I'm still obese but I'm slowly moving away from the morbidly part.)
My thought was I gained about 10 pounds a year to get to where I was. Currently I've lost 50 pounds in two years and kept it all off so in essence I have taken off 5 years worth of weight in 2 and at current rate should be my 'right size' in 3 more years if I don't get prego right away. I don't want to wait that long. Frankly your whole body changes after a baby and its a good catalyst for change. Ultimately I know unless my blood tests come back really bad I'm NOT going to wait. Still full steam ahead next month. Just wondered what everyone else's experiences were like.
PS I just carried in my new tv stand with DHs help which was right around 70 pounds and I was struggling and all I could think was OMG this amt of weight used to be IN my skin and part of me!!!!!!!! CRAZY

I dunno if there is a link or not but the more I stressed about my periods the longer my cycles got. I quit charting and worrying about it like 3 months ago and right on time I've gone from 40 day cycles to 35 to 30 and its back to 28 this month so maybe if you're like me you have to stop thinking about them and just let nature take its course.
Also my cycle went WACK when I quit working in an office around a bunch of girls. It also went crazy when I worked in that same office and switched cubes to go sit by different girls so think about things like that as well. And if all else fails the gyno should be able to help you out! :o

lynzey - oooh, I love SBD! And your reasoning on the weight loss makes total sense. You're doing wonderful and should be proud of what you've accomplished! Yay for ttc next month!
mrsjackson - I know lynzey said it made her stress more to chart, but honestly, I recommend it. Had I not been charting when I met with the RE, she would have sent me home to chart for three months. Since I had a years worth of charts, she bumped my dosage of met and told me to have DH have an SA. Once his results came back, I got to start clomid right away. Plus, I'd have spent way more money than I did in HPTs! I guess also, I'm a control freak in some ways and I want to know what's going on with my body. And, I think my doc takes me more serious than some of her other patients because I know my body. Of course, I have to get through the nurses to get to the doc. If you're not interested in charting, my next suggestion is to get OPKs. I bought 50 dip sticks from www.saveontests.com . It fuels my urge to see little lines on sticks. I start taking them at CD 10 and take them every day until I see a surge, then I take another the following day to see that I really have surged. I got those 50 tests for less than 20 bucks.

Maybe my cycles would go back to normal if I didn't pay attention to them. But I really don't know what normal is for me. This is the first cycle that I've really even paid attention to. I didn't ever keep track of the luteal phase, or anything like that. Do you think that this one month (of not so serious) TTC has gotten me so worked up already that my cycle is wacky? I don't feel stressed about it. I'm just curious and confused.
I start taking them at CD 10 and take them every day until I see a surge, then I take another the following day to see that I really have surged. I got those 50 tests for less than 20 bucks.
If I were to get some OPK's, what day would you recommend that I start using them? On CD 10 like you, or is everyone different? I guess it probably depends on your cycle length, huh? Which I seem to be having a helluva time with.....
I got to thinking about how long the cycle before my last cycle was. It was right before the wedding and it actually seemed short. I think AF showed on September 1st, and left September 8th. AF visited again on October 4th, (34 Day cycle?? ) and was here until October 11th. It's now November 13th, and she's not here yet. That's making it a 41 Day cycle now....and still really no symptoms of her showing yet.
Why would my cycles be getting longer? Maybe I shoulda paid more attention to them before we started TTC.
jennylou
11-13-2005, 05:04 AM
I'd probably start on CD 10. Most people aren't going to ovulate before CD 14 - particularly people like you, since you seem to have a bit longer of a cycle.
And yep, it does help to have data going back further, since you were probably stressed out around the wedding, all of those dates could have been way off.

jennylou... I'll definetly check into the SBD. I've done Atkins before, but it was so limited that after a week I got so sick of meat and the such I just couldn't do it anymore. Even though I did loose 7 lbs in that week. I guess that's why I never tried SBD. However, I like the fact that I can have pasta. I don't mind whole-wheat at all. We already eat whole-wheat bread, so why not pasta!
Lynzey... That's exactly what my doc said (about the MET and faster loosing weight). Except I have PCOS on top of high fasting blood sugar. He did say that a lot of it is weight related.
I've lost 2 lbs since Tuesday which I know is water weight. I'll check into SBD and see how that goes.
I finally started today... CD 38. I can't wait to have regular cycles again!

Well, today I went out and bought a BBT Thermometer. I've decided (if AF ever shows and I can start a new cycle) that I'll start temping. I think it will help me out.
I've posted a link to my chart. Which by the way contains nothing interesting but symptoms right now. I kinda played around with the whole entering temps thing today, and left today's there. The things I've recorded aren't really that important, or consistent for that matter. Oh well. Better luck next cycle.
AF has still not shown. She's really pissin' me off.
Should I start temping tomorrow, or wait for a new cycle?
Anybody have some advice for me on the temping? Now or later?

Lynzey -sorry about AF.
MrsJackson - It doesn't hurt to start now, even though you won't get a full picture of what's going on. However, it will get you used to taking your temp every day. Check out the TTC w/charting thread and the Charting to Avoid thread (read the first few posts there - so much knowledge!). GL to you. :)

When you click on the link to my chart, does it come up with the little data box? Could you enter information if you wanted to?
If it does, how do I change it so I'm the only one that can enter data? I guess I never thought about that when I was setting the link up.
Please let me know if you can see that box. TIA!

Here's what you need to do, click on sharing, homepage set up. On this page it will say: Your Charting Home Page Web Address: and in a box will have the url for your homepage.
Also, just an FYI that your siggie is out of compliance right now (since you added the link), you are only allowed three lines of text. Lines of spaces count as text, so you technically have four lines.

MrsSmither Hey ;) little miss Gigi is doing great!! She has been looking around and focusing on things and actually following movement. We put her in her papasan and turned on baby einstein and she actually watched 10 minutes of it! she followed the characters around the screen and everything..
She also has been smiling and laughing! I dont think she is supposed to laugh yet but we heard her 2 times! its crazy. I said I was going to post pictures tonight or tomorrow, but I forgot that I uploaded some pics this past weekend.. so here are a couple ;)

Well, ladies............I'm really confused now. This morning I tested and it was still a BFN. I'm on my 44th cycle day. And still no sign of AF. I have very sore BB's. Headaches, and backaches.
I'm thinking that if AF doesn't show by this weekend, that I might go get some bloodwork done. I'd like to know what is going on.
Astara! She's beautiful!
ajb524 I can't wait to look like that! You're gorgeous!

Is there any new news out there??? Everyone kinda disappeared again.
Me, I'm just now starting to do some spotting. I'm not as upset as I thought I would be, but I'm looking at it in a positive way. Now I can at least chart for a whole month, possibly be able to see when I O........

Yay! Another Stewart Fan!
Yesterday DH was gone all day, and when he got home he asked me if I jumped up and down when Tony won it. Of course I told him no......but I really did! I'm super proud of him.....he's so darn cute too!

Oops. Maybe you can't link from the Baby Med ones. I'll try to explain.
My temps have all been relatively predictable until today- it dropped almost a whole degree. I am 7 DPO, and on CD21, and I don't really understand why it would drop so drastically.

AF is here and she's unpacked. She'll be staying 'til about the 27th. I'm so glad that she decided to show up. I know that kind of sounds bad, but I didn't know what was going on.
So, anyway......I'm officially out for this month.. I'll be back, though. God only knows I can't stay away!

Sorry to hear about AF, MrsJackson! Sort of. :)

Most people dip about week after O and then go back up. A whole degree is quite a bit but I have seen people's charts do it...and with favorable results :)
Happy Charting MrsJackson05 - it will be great to have a whole chart to see if you are ovulating or not and when (I would never have known I O on Day 23 without charting)...and maybe it will end up being your only one :)

Maybe an implantation dip?? I don't know for sure. Sorry I can't be of more help.
But here's some inspiration if I ever saw any! :D This would make me feel good!
........and with favorable results :)
Jesseybell Ohhhh......I hope you're right....but I'm actually kind of enjoying this learning process. I didn't know any of this stuff before I joined this thread. You ladies have helped me out so much already!
I just wish I didn't have such long cycles. FF is telling me that my luteal phase is around 20 days.....that's a long time! For me anyway.....It's telling me now that I won't ovulate until December 16th. That's forever and a day away! DH says that it won't hurt us to practice BD'ing though. He doesn't seem to mind all of the action.

All you ladies that are taking (or have taken) Metformin... when in the world can I expect these side effects to subside! It's just awful. I get so nausous (sp?) after I take my pill, it's horrible. I've tried eating before I take it, eating after I take it, taking it with milk, not eating at all, you name it, I've tried it. Results are the same! I'm sick of feeling like I'm going to puke any minute. Oh, and I won't even talk about the "other" side effect. This had better go away soon because this is awful!!!!!

dani: I started taking mine in the morning & it made me sooo sick that I changed to taking them at night right before bed - It has helped ALOT!
It seemed like for the first week to week & 1/2 - I had "bathroom issues" then they went away ... but then dont miss a few doses cause they will come back after you start taking them again. I figured that out when I ran out of them on Tuesday and did not pick them up from the pharmacy til Saturday.

Adrienne... thanks! I can deal with the "bathroom issues". Well, so far I have been able to. I'm just waiting for the day where I'm out and about and have to go! I was suppose to start out with 1 in the a.m., then after a week, 1 in the a.m. and 1 in the p.m., unless the side effects had not gotten substanially less. Well, the first day I took a.m. and p.m. I had "bathroom issues" 4 times! So, I went back to just a.m. Then, after a few days went back to a.m. and p.m. until yesterday! Since the pills made me so sick I figured I'll take a Phenegran. Well, I don't think that was a good idea. It helped at first, but then about 2 hours into my day I started vomitting and couldn't keep anything down. So, I didn't take one last night and this morning I drank milk, ate some crackers, and then took the pill. So far so good. I'm not nausious (sp?), thank goodness! Just having to run to the bathroom more than I'd like to......
I've been on it for 2 weeks and 1 day now. I guess I'll wait until after the holidays, but if it's not any better by then I'll call my doc.
What dosage were you on?

I started out taking 500 once a day then moved up to 500 twice a day, in July he moved me up to 850 twice a day

hi ladies! I've been bad and not following along. Please don't hate me :o
Ugh metformin - the devil that took my insides and made them my outsides! I tried for about 3 months to take metformin, and was up to 1000mg, but it was pure misery. It didn't help me ovulate (I didn't have any pre-diabetes issues to use the metformin for other than PCOS) so I stopped.
I thought I'd drop off my newest belly pic. You'll have to excuse the PJ's, I'm having a lazy paper writing day.

I am finally finishing up my rounds to announce my BFP!!!!
I am a little nervous to see what my doctor says about my weight. The GYN I went to last month isn't doing OB right now because she had a baby recently and she didn't say anything. I know I will probably be told to only gain 15-20 pounds, if that. It was amazing yesterday how much better I ate! I can't wait to go to the grocery store tomorrow, after our fridge it emptied of Thanksgiving leftovers, and buy lots of healthy things.
I think I will need to go buy some size 18 pants to carry me over until when I need maternity clothes. My 16 jeans are feeling a little snug. I don't plan on telling my parents until Christmas so I won't be able to ask for gift certificates for clothes.

Congratulations Jessy! That's so exciting :D
Thanks sare and kelley! I'm still alittle shy about showing off the belly, but it's *almost* at the stage where you can tell I'm pregnant and not just chunky ;)
Lyndsey, as for OB's, can I suggest calling first and asking what their protocal is for women who are overweight. That answer should give you a good indication on how they feel about overweight + pregnancy. To me, I want to be treated as normally as posible. I Don't want to be constantly reminded I'm overweigth. One conversation at the beginning of the relaitonship is fine, but after that, get over it and ge ton with the job, ya know? Of course, i've had some terrible experiences with fat-phobic medical car eproviders, so maybe I shouldn't talk :p Good Luck!

jesseybell-Congrats on your BFP!!!! My doctor has been really great about my weight (surprising since she's very thin ;)). I'm 25 weeks and have only gained 1lb. I think my body is handling the pregnancy pretty well and realizes that I don't need the extra padding :). The doc actually told me I needed to start putting weight on once I start seeing her every two weeks which will start in just a couple of weeks . It's very weird to be told to gain weight ;)!
Hi Ladies! Here is my latest belly shot from 25w. I can't believe how fast my pg is going! March is just around the corner

We've been togeather for a while and knew we wanted to start a family right away. So I've purchased fertility books and OPK's. So I guess now I'm just charting and November is our first month "trying". You'll have to excuse me if I use the wrong terminology for things. I'm just starting to learn what everything means.
I cant wait to follow along with you all in all your efforts and pregnancies! :)
