I just bought some Prolief and I'm not exactly sure when to start using it. The directions say to start on day 12 and end on day 26. Is that because they assume you ovulate on day 14 and have a 28 day cycle? I don't typically O until sometime in the 20's. Any suggestions??

I started using it on CD 5 I think, and stopped at around CD 26 or thereabouts. I did get PG the 1st month using it, after 6 months of TTC (later miscarried, but that's unrelated). I have a friend who used it from TTC all the way through the 1st trimester. I'm not sure why you're only supposed to use it at certain times in your cycle. My doctor didn't seem to think it would really help anything, but that it is harmless.

I don't know how much that helps you, but basically I think whatever you do will be fine. I usually O sometime in the 20's also, but the month I took it I O'd really late, like CD35 or something. Not sure if that was a coincidence or not.

I used it when I was pg with DD. Because I was charting, I knew when I O'd. I started using it at 3 DPO (when my chart showed a clear O) and would continue until I started spotting or got a BFN and was sure I wasn't pg. I think I used it 2-3 times a day and would rotate where I applied it because that aids in absorption. I continued using it through 12 weeks and weaned myself off of it gradually. With this pg, I did not use it at all and had no spotting. My Dr. at the time also said it wouldn't help anything, but it can't hurt from the research I did and I had gone through a prior m/c so it helped give me a little more peace of mind- like I was doing everything I could possibly do, you know? I used progensa I think.

You are supposed to use it after O because it will prevent ovulation if your start before.

After I confirmed my O with a 3-day temperature rise, then I took from 3DPO unitl 14-15 DPO. I would stop then if I got a BFN. With a BFP, I continuted for another week, but gradually reduced the size of each dose, just in case, so there would't be a sudden hormone change.

With #2, I started about 1 week after O, because I wasn't temping and was not sure of my O date. It will extend your LP, so starting in the middle of the 2ww will work.

BusyBee, thank you for posting that. That explains why I O'd sooo much later the cycle that I took it. The directions tell you to take it, like micd said, from CD12 to CD26, but they also don't market the product specifically for TTC. I have done a little more research since you posted, and now my last cycle makes a lot more sense, so thanks!
