FH and I went yesterday to start our registry...I had no idea it would be so exhausting. We couldn't agree on our cookware. He likes nonstick, I don't. Though I think I talked him into stainless steel. I just couldn't find anything I loved.
My question is what pots/pans did you register for and why?

We're registering for Mauviel from Williams Sonoma. I LOVE the look, I think they are beautiful!

I worked at LNT a while back and fell in love with Calphalon One. My mom has the same set and it's amazing.

My FH really liked the Calphalon, but the pans are so heavy! I'm not sure if I will like that...

We bought these ourselves. We got the 15 piece set. Call us old school, but my mom's had her set from 25 years ago, and they look brand new! http://www.farberware.com/catalog/Assets/images/Cookware/Classic9ss.jpg
I LOVE the straining lids... :)

We have the Calphalon Tri Ply Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set (from BBB). I wanted Stainless Steel, with cool handles and a glass top. This fit the bill. It really isn't hard to take care of. I clean it with Barkeepers Friend and a Dobie pad (it says dishwasher safe, but I don't want to chance it). They are heavier than cheap pots and pans, but not iron skillet heavy.

We registered for Calphalon One for a few different reasons -- my cousin/MOH registered for them 2 years ago and loves them, B has a Calphalon Aluminum Anodized pan (from before they made the "One" kind), and he loves it, and my brother the chef said, "Yep, those are good."
I feel like we registered for a lot of different pans (I think there are 11 of them), but I also think they'll all get used. Both B and I love to cook! :D

I heart my Calphalon. We didn't register for pots and pans since we had a set already, but I received my beloved Calphalon saute pan (the middle one in the first row in MrsWilson's picture) for Christmas and I'm converting all of my cookware to it. Love it, love it, love it. Use it everyday.

we have the starter set from Carico - i would suggest investing in a really good set of pots and pans that has a lifetime guarantee. Townecraft is a also a great company. we have a skillet from them and love it.

My darling DH took his assignment of choosing pots and pans and knives VERY seriously... He did weeks of research on the different brands, insulating properties of various materials, lids, handles, etc. Same thing with the knives...
And then no one got us a single pot, pan, or knife from our registry.
There was no way my new husband was not going to have his utensils after all that research so he went and bought both the cookware and knives.... It was a wickedly expensive splurge, but we LOVE them.
We got the Calphalon ONE (anondized, not no-stick) and Wustof Classic knives.
You're right, the Calphalon pots are heavy, but I really like them anyway (and I'm something of a pipsqueak) They have just enough "release."
Basically, it seems as if you can't really go wrong with any of the high quality brands...
Cheers,
Golightly
