Welcome, Mamas!
Please take a moment to look over your information in the first few posts to make sure it is correct. When checking in with the new thread, please check in with this new information (if you'd like to!):
1) Update your Gender Predictions! It'll be fun to see if women's intuition holds true.
2) Let us know what Team you'd like to be a member of.
Team Blue = Having a boy
Team Pink = Having a girl
Team Green = Having a surprise
Team Purple = Don't know the gender yet. (As a default, everyone has been put into team purple as of 09.24.06.)
A big THANK YOU to the March 2007 Mamas thread because I basically used their format for ours. :)

My doctor told me my due date was April 3rd, but my ultrasound keeps saying March 27th. Which one do you think I should tell people?

married ~ I'd tell them you're due in early April, or just April... The LAST thing you want if you go after your due date is people calling...did ya go yet? I try to be as vague as possible with my due date except for immediate family of course....
Love the new thread... can't believe we're in the second tri already... (of course, that could be cause I'm still getting m/s, but...) I definitely popped -- i haven't told any of my mom friends yet, but I think they might guess before I can cause just over the weekend, I think I'm looking pg... (I was just looking frumpy/fat...now I have a definite bump) yay!

Thanks Threadmistress for getting a new thread started! Time is just flying by....I can't believe trimester two is already underway. Supposedly we have made it through the tough part right? :)

Yea for the new thread! A big fat THANK YOU to the threadmistresses for all their hard work!!
My new due date is April 16.
My next OB appt. is Oct 17 (routine OB visit).
My new gender prediction is boy although my intuition was wrong last time, so I'm not putting much weight on that!
I'm holding off on a Team assignment, although we're leaning towards a surprise. I guess I should wait to see if I can make it through the Big Ultrasound without caving before I officially join Team Green! :D

Excellent job starting the new thread Married! Re: due dates, I'd say early April. My dr says mine is April 5, but he's basing that on a 30 cycle whereas mine is only 26. Based on that, I'd be due March 31. But I go with him and say April :)

happy1nuv: Thanks. I guess I will wait until I get farther along to actually change my due date (if I decide to). I will see what the doctor says at my 20 week ultrasound. Supposedly that is when all babies should be the same size, so it is more accurate for a due date.

Not quite into the second trimester yet, but I am going to stick close with my fellow April mommies.

Wow. A new thread already. That was so FAST!!! Great job, threadmistresses! :D
Bump
I am so officially preggo-looking, and we didn't have a chance to get to the storage unit for my maternity clothes this weekend. So I am living in yoga pants and sweats until next weekend :o . Very sexy...
M/S
I am still having some bad days, but they aren't as bad as a couple weeks ago. I really, really hope I am on an upswing! I am feeling physically drained though, last night I was in bed at 8:45pm (wild woman!).
Preggo Friends
Anyone else have close friends pg at the same time? I am so happy, because look at this:
My IRL friend njnewyears bride is due in February
A longtime close friend (one of my BM's) is due 4 weeks before me
I just found out another close friend I've had for the lst year is due 4 weeks after me.
How fun! Last time I was pg alone, so it will be great to have so many friends pg with me at the same time. :)
Due Dates
Since I know the day I O'd, I happen to know my due date and so my OB refuses to even argue with me ;). The u/s showed my due date as 4/14 but that would mean I got pg 4 days before I O'd, LOL! So I'd say if you know when you O'd, stick with that. My OB is high-risk and has all the specialized equipment, yet I was exactly right with my due date with DS to the day and he kept getting differnt dates. I gave him a big "I told you so" when he came to visit me in the hospital. :p
ETA:
I found something I can drink!
This is seeming to help take the edge off the m/s if I have it in the morning with breakfast: Bolthouse Farms Perfectly Protein Vanilla Chai Tea.
http://www.bolthouse.com/html/trade_protein.html
My grocery store has it refrigerated near the pomegranate juice and organic section. I think it might be the protein init that's helping me, but I thought I'd throw it out there for the rest of you to try. And it is yummy, too.

Yes!
My best friend Missy is due at the end of January.
My other good friend Gina is due at the beginning of February.
My friend Rachael just had twins...
Another friend is due in November.
Plus... 2 other girls in my bldg are due in January. It's definitely in the water! It's been fun to compare notes with all of them.
Due date - I also know the date I O'ed, so my doctor really hasn't tried to convince me otherwise. Although at my first appt she said my uterus felt like an 8 week uterus, but when they did the u/s - sure enough I was 6w6d, exactly what I'd predicted. ;)

Pg Friends:
I have 1, who is due in November. Our DD's are born exactly 1 month apart and we're both excited to have our 2nd babies so close in age as well. A co-worker's wife is also pg and due in May.
Showing:
I asked DH yesterday if I looked pg or fat. He said I didn't look pg yet, but not fat either. (I think he just didn't want to get in trouble for calling me fat ;)). I feel in certain clothes I look very pg, like the dress I'm wearing today. But in regular clothes, I just look like I have a big belly.
I've had the worst time sleeping lately. I'll wake up 3-4 times a night and not even b/c I have to pee! It's horrible. I'll just wake up and lay there for a while, then doze off again. I took the longest naps over the weekend and they felt so wonderful. I'm dreading this afternoon, once 2 gets here and I'm ready for my snooze.

m/s - Getting a little better here too. I still have a bad stretch from about 5:30-8 pm. I'm hoping that goes away very soon!
----
I had my appointment with the high-risk OB on Friday. They did an u/s and told me that I'm further along than I think I am, but they didn't give me an exact date.
Anyway, our plan is as follows: DH has to be tested to see what Kell markers he carries. If DH carries any Kell + markers, then I have to get an amnio at 15 weeks to determine if the baby is Kell +. If the baby is Kell +, then I have to get a special u/s at 20 weeks where they monitor the baby's blood flow. If the blood is flowing too quickly, then they baby is anemic (meaning that my body has mounted an immune respone and is attacking the baby's blood supply). If the baby develops anemia, then we have to start blood transfusions :(. Basically, a WHOLE lot of IFs! I'm mentally preparing to go through the steps up to the special u/s, but I'm having a hard time thinking about transfusions, etc..

diedra: If you don't mind me asking, what exactly are you being tested for? I'm not familiar with what "Kell" is exactly.
m/s: I thought mine was tapering off, but we went to Lowe's yesterday to buy paint for DS's "big boy room," and I threw up there. I also feel pretty crappy today too. Luckily, ths kids have been pretty tame. I'm dreading tonight though. I have to come back to school tonight for a parents' night thing, and nights are so bad for me!
pg friends: Actually, no. I have no friends that are currently pg or even planning on it. We had a bunch of friends have babies within the last year, so... We also have a large number of friends that are younger than we are who aren't planning families yet.
Fat or pg? On Friday, I went to DS's daycare to pick him up. I passed a ladt in the hall who was wearing a shirt that said "Not Fat (Pregnant)." I thought it was cute. I definitely have a belly going on. It scares me a little bit because I do look pg, and I'm wondering what I'll wear toward the end when many of my pg clothes rom last time fit me now. When I go to the OB, I'm really going to press him about a due date (he was right on with his internal exam guess with my u/s) because I'm either gainging too much weight (which isn't the case because I can hardly eat) or I'm further along thatn I think.

I am a bit in denial about my belly. DH says I'm starting to look pg, but I'm not ready to let everybody at work know yet. I'm still snug in my regular clothes, but I do feel bigger.
Yay for the 2nd trimester! I have a week to go.
Please add me to the Green Team, too! People have been immediately excited to find out as soon as they know we're pg, I haven't told them yet its a surprise.
PG friends: Lone pg woman over here, so far. I had my DD April 2005, a friend had her DS the same day in April 2006, in 2008 it's her turn again.
Due Date: My OB's u/s and the hospital's u/s measured a couple of days apart, so I'm due April 11-14. Since DD was 10 days early, it doesn't matter much to me. I tell people early April. I count a new week on every Wednesday, because I'm fairly sure that was my O-day.

Fat or Pregnant?
Last week while driving home from visiting a friend, DH looked at my belly, then did a double take and actually said to me "are you showing already or getting fff...?" and by the time he realized what he was about to say, i was giving him The Look Of Death. So I tossed a few colorful words his way ;) and reminded him that generally speaking when you are pregnant and losing weight yet gaining a belly that means you are showing. Needless to say, he had the fear of God in his eyes when he realized what he was saying....and I could probably get away with buying a Mercedes for myself this week and he'd feel too guilty to say anything :p . Men!

Fat vs Pg:
I think DH was judging my belly based on my outfit yoga/sweat pants and a baggy t-shirt yesterday. He sounds like yours, kim. He was very quick to say he didn't think I looked pg, but also refused to say I looked fat. Smart boy. Although, everyone at work is commenting on my belly popping out over the weekend and it's already been rubbed twice. Not sure how I feel about that yet....

Fat vs Pg: - I think I look pregnant but DH asked me this weekend when I was going to start showing. I guess that means that he thinks my tummy is fat and not pregnant. He didn't say it but I know that's what he means.
I had my nuchal today. I think it went good, the tech said that everything looked great and I should get the results in about a week. She confirmed that my placenta is covering the cervix and gave me instructions similar to what puglover has already told me (thanks!!!). She said not to be shocked if I bleed more/again. She bounced back and forth between the 3-d U/s and the 2-d It was amazing but the 3-d makes the baby look so much more fetal and undeveloped (which it is at this point). Just weird.
I'll post pictures later!

diedra: If you don't mind me asking, what exactly are you being tested for? I'm not familiar with what "Kell" is exactly.
Let's see if I can explain clearly :). Our red blood cells have several components, Kell is one. The one that most people are familiar with causing problems during pregnancy is Rh. When I had my blood drawn last month, my tests showed that I have a small amount of Anti-Kell antibody floating around my system. This basically means that my body has identified some red blood cells with the Kell component are not 'flagged' as belonging to me. My body is busy building the Anti-Kell antibody to fight off these 'foreign' invaders. This is most common when the baby is a carrier of a different marker than the mother (baby Kell+ and mom Kell-, for example). Long story short, we're in the process of determining what markers the baby, DH, and I are carrying and the next steps depend on whether baby and I are incompatable. There are about a million possible outcomes, it's a little overwhelming!

diedra ~ I hope DH's tests turn out so you don't have anything to worry about (sorry, not following enough to know what the right outcome for that would be...)
Friends pg ~ For the first time around, one of my college roommates and I were due (and delivered, both early) 9 days apart... For this time around, one of my other college roommates is due 10 days before me :) (I'm spoiled I know)... :) It's fun...
Others... an aquaintance (our moms are good friends) is due around Christmas
...one of my good guy friends -- his wife is due around Christmas (I'm friendly with her, but not lets go shopping together without hubby friendly)
I'm wondering who I'll get to be pg with for #3... :)

diedra I hope your hubby is not Kell +!!!
Friends pg Nope, neither with DS. Oh well.
michael'sbride Glad your Nuchal went well!
Fat vs Pg Hmm, i definately have a belly, but it's mostly fat and organs and intestines that are being pushed up by the baby. The baby hasn't comeout from under my pubic bone yet. I can wear 2 of my regular pants, barely and the rest maternity. I just wanna be comfortable!!
m/s Mine is still really bad all day long. Not throwing up, although last night was super close. In the mornings I find that Carnation Instant Breakfast helps me a bit due to the protein and it also helps that it tastes pretty good :). I hope it will be gone soon, I am sick of this constant hangover!
Anyway, glad to hear everyone is doing OK.

I'm rejoining the group! I went to the dr. today and I'm measuring 2 weeks ahead so she put me back at my old due date. WHOO HOO! I got the hear the heartbeat. It was very faint but the dr. could make it out better than I could. lol. She said it's still too early. I wish now I had DH go to the apt. He would've loved that but I didn't know she was going to do that today.
My next apt. is October 23rd
m/s: Still having it but not as bad. I still haven't thrown up yet but my Dr. was concerned that I haven't gained any weight so she wrote me a prescription for Zolfran to help me eat more. I didn't really think it was all that bad. But she knows best I guess. :)

Pregnant Friends: I actually don't have any pregnant friends. My neighbor just had a baby about 6 months ago, but that's the closest I come to having pregnant friends. I'm all alone in this. :(
Fat or Pregnant: I personally think I look fat, but everyone at the car show on Saturday kept asking when I was due... so I guess I look pregnant. Who knows!
Has anyone else felt like their organs are being pushed up into their upper abdomen? I do... it's a very uncomfortable feeling. :(

Oh my gosh you guys, I am so, so happy I could cry! I am finally getting the Zofran I so desperately need!!
It was reading Tonysweetie’s post that put me over the edge (nothing against you, hon! It only has to do with my beef with my OB). I was like, everyone is getting Zofran but me!! AND I’m vomiting multiple times a day AND I’ve lost 8 pounds AND I basically can’t function like this anymore living on 1/2 a sandwich a day. I'm so sick that I can't get off the couch most days and I'm depressed and my whole family is suffering because of this. Screw my OB who thinks I don’t need meds! So I called the nurse and pleaded my case...I also made sure it was a day when another OB was on rotation so my Dr. Tough Love wouldn’t be there. (Is that bad?) The nurse just called back and said she is calling in my Zofran prescription right now!! I am SO happy at the thought of finally getting relief after 11 unrelenting weeks of this.
Now I just pray that the Zofran works for me. If it does, I am going to name this kid Zofran, I’ll be so thankful!
kimthebride~ I never thanked you for bumping that Zofran thread for me last week, and for sharing your experiences. It has really helped reading your posts. Thank you!!

Hi, y'all! Thanks for the new thread, threadmistress!!
I'm so excited to be this close to the second trimester. It feels so good to FINALLY stop worrying so much and just enjoy and get excited.
Fat vs. PG I think my tummy really popped out in the last week. Before, I just looked super bloated; now all of a sudden it's much more pregnant looking. (And it's about time -- I'm a Pilates instructor and felt more than one client eyeing my new pot belly as if to say, "The Pilates isn't working so great anymore, huh?" ;)) I'm still wearing regular pants, but am nowhere near buttoning them anymore -- safety pins and rubber bands are my best friends.
Other new things I've noticed:
Nausea pretty much gone, save for a moment here or there
All of a sudden I can see a faint linea negra and it's totally weirding me out
Boobs are gigantic but not really sore anymore
Lots more heartburn now than I had in the beginning
Definitely have more energy now
Pregnant friends Two other couples in our group of friends are pregnant and due within a month of us. I'm so excited our child will have so many playmates!

So I got sick Thurs. night. M/S at midnight, what the **** !? Ugh, DH was nice enough to help me. So glad I don't have it all the time. I'm still nauseous occasionally but surviving. We travelled again this weekend. I can't wait to just stay home and rest. Seems like we've been so busy lately. Next dr. appt. is Wed. but I won't get an u/s again until the nuchal on the 6th.
Pg friends
One friend had her 2nd child, DD, a month and a half before I had DS. This time she's due with #3 in Feb. We told each other before we told our families. I joked to her family that she can't do anything by herself. But it's fun to have someone else to comiserate with.
Going to bed now. I'm so exhausted. Sweet dreams all.

Hello. I just wanted to stop in and say a quick hello. My in-laws have been here since Friday and things have been super crazy at work. I am sorry I have not been posting and keeping up. I have been reading the posts whenever I can though. Sounds like everyone is doing well. :) I had my 13plus week check-up yesterday where they listened to the h/b on a doppler and measured my tummy. I was hoping for an u/s so I could see the baby, but I am content knowing that he/she is doing fine. I have another appt. on October 23rd for another check-up and then I will have my 20 week less than 3 weeks later. :) I can't wait for that one. My question for today is: Did anyone have the tripple screen test? I did not have the nuchal translucency and now my ob is asking about the tripple screen. Can't decide what to do. Any thoughts? My dh wants me to have the test done. Anyway, have to get to work, which is killing me these days. I love working with kids, but I am still really exhausted all of the time and all I really want to do right now is go back to sleep. :( Hope everyone is well. Have a wonderful day.

Thanks for the new thread, Threadmistress!
I'm so jealous of all of you who have crossed that second trimester 'finish line'! Congrats to all of you (and knocking on wood too, because I'm a freak like that :p)!
Even though I can't cross the 2nd trimester threshold with y'all quite yet, I did enjoy my own 'pregnancy milestone' yesterday - I bought my very first maternity clothes ever! :) 2 pairs of pants from Old Navy. Soooooooo comfortable. I immediately started picturing myself wearing maternity pants all year round, every year, but then I realized I'd probably get a wee bit too comfortable in them and I should probably just enjoy them for the duration of their intended timeframe.
Welcome back, Tonysweetie! Congrats on hearing the heartbeat! Isn't it just as amazing as they say it is? I'm so lucky I was able to convince my husband to come to my 2nd ultrasound - he was able to record part of the ultrasound, including the baby's heartbeat, on his cell phone. He 'beamed' the recording to my phone and now I can hear the heartbeat whenever I want and play it for other people too. Technology is amazing!
diedra ~ I hope your Kell testing yields favorable results!
michael'sbride I'm happy your Nuchal went well! And hopefully your placenta will move away from the cervix as your uterus grows.
Pregnant friends ~ I wish! All of our good friends have either had babies within the least 3 years (and are waiting before getting started on any more), or they aren't planning on having children at all. I'm hoping to meet other mommies-to-be by joining prenatal swim or yoga classes, and maybe through birthing classes and/or La Leche League...
Fat vs Pg ~ I'm just gonna go ahead and quote what jeggink said, because I'm pretty much in the same boat :p: "i definately have a belly, but it's mostly fat and organs and intestines that are being pushed up by the baby. The baby hasn't comeout from under my pubic bone yet. I can wear 2 of my regular pants, barely and the rest maternity. I just wanna be comfortable!!"
Femmie ~ YAY on getting the green light on Zofran!! I'm so sorry you've had such a rough time. :(
On the fat vs pregnant thing, I thought I'd share a touching moment I enjoyed with my husband about a week and a half ago. I had finally gotten up the 'courage' to show my husband how big and rounded my torso was getting at night (from bloating, I guess, or gas?). I had my shirt lifted up and I was checking myself out in the mirror, and I turned to my husband and said "look how big my belly gets at nighttime."
My husband looked at me and sharply gasped!! I started laughing, but I said "Here's a note for future reference - you should NEVER gasp in horror like that when a sensitive, hormonal pregnant woman exposes her belly to you!" His reply? "I...I...just didn't expect it to be so....substantial." Thanks, hon.

femmie ~ Good for you! Drs mean well for the most part I think (and I have LOTS of dr (or soon to be) dr friends)...BUT, they are neither infallible nor always right. (Nothing brought this into more focus for me than the dr that nearly killed my father by not ordering a simple blood test that could have prevented heart surgery...was told by another dr later that he would have a strong law suit if he wanted to pursue it AND by listening to most peds talk about breastfeeding/nutrition) I hope you feel better soon!
Tonysweetie ~ Welcome back :)
I had a really good day yesterday. Actually was able to function past 5:00... did really good all the way til 9-ish...I made a real dinner, and actually cleaned the kitchen afterwards. I was on cloud 9 til 9-ish :) Me thinks the m/s while not gone, might be headed out (about time!!!!)

PG Friends - My best friend is PG with her first baby due in February. We have been best friends since middle school so this is a very exciting time for her. last time that I was PG I happened to be sharing the experience with my sister.
My question for today is: Did anyone have the tripple screen test? No we didnt' do any kinds of testing this time or last time for that matter. Honestly I didn't want to deal with the stress if any of the tests came back borderline or positive for abornmalities.
Femmie - So happy to hear that you are finally going to get the relief that you deserve! Yeah for Zofran. You are going to feel so much better soon.
Fat vs PG - the shorts are getting tight, the pants are getting tight, I am still feeling fat. I haven't gained anyweight so that is a good thing. And my sweet DH has taken to already rubbing my belly, so he has noticed apparently. I am just still in shock how much faster I am showing this time around than I did last time. Amazing.
Still feeling pretty crappy. It is bad from about lunch time through dinner time. Making dinner is still a really big chore for me. Nevermind cleaning up when I am done. :( My house is a mess because my energy is next to nothing. I am lucky to get the living room picked up and looking decent after hurricane jack goes through it. I am really looking forward to feeling better! :)

OMG don't do that - I almost peed myself laughing!!!
Good for you for standing your ground. I have been resisting the urge to PM you for your OB's address so I could bitch-slap him in the head. Incredible.
I'm not gonna lie to you. Zofran's damn good stuff, but say good-bye to pooping like a normal human being. Get yourself an economy-sized bottle of Colace and ask the nurse how many you can take per day. ;)
You're welcome! I wish there was more info out there. I am lucky (well, you know what I mean) to have a friend well-versed in Hyperemesis who could help me out. I am a different person today than 3 weeks ago. And I actually gained a pound this week!! YIPPEEE!!! Still under my pre-preg weight, but thats ok as long as I am headed in the right direction.
Food
I have the wierdest diet EVER.
Either I am eating baked potatoes and uber-bland food....or Mexican. Today I had the urge for Mex, so I went to On The Border and had some jalapeno poppers, tortillas & salsa, and chicken fajitas. Now, I can eat nowhere near as much as usual, but a little of each made me a very happy woman. And I had coffee at the end. Yum.

Okay, I didn't have the flattest, firmest abs ever when I got pg but I SWEAR to you the bumps you see are baby.
Here I am at 7 actual weeks (9 OB weeks). I thought it was just bloating because of the digestive issues and Zofran...

There is TOTALLY a baby in there. And keep in mind, I'm 5' 9 1/2" so its not like I'm a little shorty with no room for a kid in there! BAM BELLY!!
And for comparison's sake, check me out at 16 weeks into my 1st pregnancy...do you think you show sooner with the second, or what? ;)

Femmie: I am so glad you're able to get some medicine that will help!

I'm feeling okay. I'm right at 13 weeks and hoping that all m/s will start to go away soon. I was nowhere near this sick with my first pregnancy and am ready to feel somewhat human again!
RO's: Is this pregnancy similar or different to your first?
I'm curious to see answers. I've talked with co-workers who've been pregnant multiple times and the majority of them all said their pregnancies were all nearly identical. Not me. With DD I had occasional m/s that lasted maybe 6 weeks, my skin was fabulous, and I felt pretty good. This time I'm sick, I have a new breakout each week, and am seeing more things coming out of my body than I thought possible.

#1 Ew. Bacne!! So bad I went to see someone about it. My face was fine.
#2 Face of a 13 year old. My back looks fabulous.
Sleep
#1 So tired, would take cat naps mid-day at work and be in bed at night by 7:30pm every night. Slept like the dead.
#2 Tired, but more physical exhaustion that sleepiness. Up & down all night. Can't fall asleep before 10pm. Still up in the morning, no matter how little sleep I got.

For those still dealing with m/s, I hope you feel better soon, especially you gals that have it horribly. Mine is still sucking big time, but I can usually manage.
Different pregnancies. Yes, they are different and the same. Pg #1, m/s after 4pm, PG #2, m/s all day long.
I have gained about the same weight. This pg and last I gained about 5 in the 1st tri (well, so far) but then barely gained in the 2nd. Eating helps with the nauseau (and so do smarties :p).
Boobs, about the same.
Showing MUCH earlier. Finding non-maternity tops to match up with my maternity pants sucks. I see a trip to Sears this weekend!
Skin, about the same, some acne in the face and some on the back. My hair is a bit different this time, not sure what yet though.
More heartburn earlier this time.
Sleepiness is about the same. So all in all, maybe not that different. My mom says I look different this time, so who knows.
triple Screen Test I had this last time and it came back with good odds of everything being OK.
My next appt is on Thursday morning. Hoping to hear the HB!
Tonysweetie Great u/s!!!

Try small, fitted maternity tops. I bought a few at Target that fit me perfectly now, but will most likely be small in the coming months. Also, the longer-tunic style shirts seem to be "in" now and they work perfectly! My favorite shirt is a black non-maternity I bought at Kohl's that works wonderfully with all my maternity pants. Try looking for something like this:

Great belly shots Kim! I'm amazed at the comparison from this time to last time!
Welcome back to the group Tonysweetie!
Can I trouble you ladies for some food suggestions? I can't seem to find anything that I want to eat. And it's getting to the point of getting WORSE instead of better, even though I'm almost 13 weeks.
In any event, I have not been able to eat meat or eggs, just from being totally grossed out at the sight. Also, anything with flavor (onions, garlic) - I gag immediately at the smell. So, what are you guys eating, if you dont mind me asking!? I'm loving fruit, bread, peanut butter, cheese... but the list winds down pretty quickly after that. Help!!

So, what are you guys eating, if you dont mind me asking!? Fruit, I cannot get enough. Bananas, apples, raisins, anything. Bread has always been a down fall. CEREAL with REALLY cold milk. That has been dinner several nights this last week. Potatos of any kind. That is about it. i really don't have an appetite for anything else.
RO's: Is this pregnancy similar or different to your first? Way different! This time around I dont' have that extra sensory sense of smell. My m/s this time is in the after and evening hours. With my DS is was all in the morning and ended by lunch time. Showing much earlier this time. One good thing is that this time around I am not throwing up all the time. That is a big bonus.
You look great Kim! Amazing how early us R/O are showing compared to last time.

juliemag: I have the same question. Although it is getting a little better for me I still have to eat only what a crave. I cannot force something into my mouth or I'll gag. But I've noticed I'm craving more and more over this past few days. When last week nothing sounded good to me at all. For example I actually ate veggies yesterday. I haven't been able to eat a single veggie in a while except salad so that is a step up for me. I hope you feel better!!!
kimthebride: You look so cute! Big difference in the 2 pictures, you popped big time!
Feeling pretty good today. My symptoms are starting to go away. I'm not feelnig as gaggy, not wanting to eat, nausous feeling so much anymore. Thank heavens! My bb's are not quite as sore as they were last week. So I'm hoping this is relief and not a sign of something bad! I took my belly shot today at 10 weeks, baby 8 weeks and my stomach grew a lot since last week. It's so amazing! I hope everyone starts to feeling better as we ride into the 2nd trimester! Have a blessed day!
Is anyone noticing that their skin is super dry and itchy? The skin on my stomach, side of my bb's, my lower back and on my neck is sooo dry and itchy no matter how much lotion I put on. It's very frustrating!

kim Cute bellyshots. I really need to get some taken. To answer your question, yes, DS has been good. I feel bad because my energy level isn't quite equal to his but he's been good about entertaining himself. He's been a little clingy but I'm kind of liking the snuggling.
food I had KFC mashed potatoes this weekend. YUM!!!! I love them.
Pg#1 vs #2 I'm more nauseous this time. Smell isn't as refined and generally the boobs are the same. Showing earlier. I'm ready for my transition jeans, otherwise, the button gets undone halfway through the day.

Okay, I might be showing my age on this one a little bit, but I'm curious. Did anyone watch 7th Heaven last night? I watched it and almost balled the entire time because Lucy lost her babies. I was an emotional roller coaster after watching that show last night. Did anyone else have that same reaction on this show or any other show?

Did anyone else have that same reaction on this show or any other show?I got teary when watching Grey's Anatomy last week when I saw the newborn baby who was left in the trashcan. And when I was pg with DD and shortly after she was born I had to stop watching ER because it seemed that every episode had a sick, dying, injured baby or someone was having a miscarriage. I still won't watch it.
What I Eat:
Protein! Protein! Protein!
Breakfast is usually a piece of breakfast sausage and maybe some fruit, like apple slices or grapes.
Lunch lately is 1/2 a sandwich and soup, tomato seems to agree with me best.
Dinner varies and depends on what I'm in the mood for and/or what won't make me gag to fix.
Also:
Pretzels
Lay's Potato chips
Bean burritos w/cheese, lettuce, & tomatoes
Any fresh veggies (esp. cucumbers, tomatoes, and bell peppers)
Apples
Pasta with any tomato-y sauce
Sandwich meat and cheese
Chex Mix
Broccoli & cheese
Popcorn

pg #1 vs. pg #2:I'm much more sick this time (hmm... lil_nance, I'm seeing a trend here). I never felt sick all of the time with DS. My boobs are the same. My skin seems a tad clearer this time around, but I don't hold out a lot of hope for that to stay. I'm already showing now, where with DS, I didn't show until well into 17-18 weeks.
Speaking of showing, last night was our "back-to-school" night and several parents commented on my belly. One mom said, "Wow, you're due in April? Second babies do that to you!" It was pretty funny.
What I eat: This probably isn't the world's greatest list, but it works for me.
* cereal in very cold milk
* potatoes-- mashed, baked, french fried, diced
* veggies
* bread
* a Snickers bar from time to time
* milk-- ice cold
* an orange soda on ice
* really cold water
* rice-- white, brown, flavored
* milkshakes
I probably seems like a carb-o-holic, but it helps me out. One thing I cannot stomach, AT ALL, is any sort of pasta with tomato sauce. UGH!

pg #1 vs. pg #2 vs. pg #3
Pg #1 - I felt a little sick at the beginning but most of the time just thought I was making that up just to feel something. Skin and hair were awesome!
PG#2 - I felt sick most of the time in the first trimester but that stopped at around 9 weeks. BB's weren't as sore as #1 but still sore. My skin was so dry and itchy. Not to mention I had the Puppp rash starting at 26 weeks and I was so itchy. I hope that doesn't happen again.
PG#3 - I feel sick all of the time, never thrown up but nothing seems to make me feel better. My skin is awful again and my BB's really hurt, like the PG #1. I really believe that things get worse with each pregnancy.
Pregnant Friends - I know at least three others that are due within a few weeks of me. Last time my SIL and I had the same due date for our entire pregnancies. Nothing's going to beat that for me. It was awesome!
Hope everyone is doing well. I'm really bad at SO's, I hope you can forgive me. Off to snuggle with DS!!!

Thank you all SO MUCH for the list of foods you eat. I guess I'd be getting stuck in a rut... your suggestions help tremendously.
So, last night after I'd read a few suggestions from here and LJ I decided to make myself a nice protein shake for dinner, followed by some french toast. Then I had an apple for dessert. All was well and good until about an hour later, I coughed pretty hard and suprise suprise... there went my dinner. I was SO frustrated. I puked, then I cried and cried. DH was really concerned. I just felt like such a failure that I couldn't keep down anything to help feed our baby. So after that I went to bed, then about another hour later... the urge hit me again, and I threw up once again. DH suggested taking tums after bout #2, so I did. And that seemed to work. I think I may have some sort of reflux going on. It's not like I'm nauseas at all.
I decided today would be a fresh start. I can do what I can... but I am not going to stress. It's just too hard on my body to constantly worry about food.
TV - I didn't see 7th Heaven, but I'd heard the rumor about that episode yesterday. So sad. :( I did however, watch ER last week - Abby went into labor early and they had to do an emergency c/s, and after the delivery they had to do a hystorectomy b/c she was having clotting issues. Now the baby is on life support and there is no hope for a 2nd. Talk about emotional! :(

That's funny...if I take my prenatal before bedtime, I'm in a world of hurt...if I take them at all lately, its in the morning... my vitamins are 6 a day so I'm trying to spread them out to see if that will help...
TV Shows ~ I dont watch 7th Heaven, but I watched House last night. They saved an autistic kid...at the end, he went up to House, looked him in the eye (or close enough for him) and gave him his video game. I BALLED... DH couldn't stop laughing at me...
Kim...It's funny. Your nauseau foods list... I've been craving a bunch of the stuff on that list, and had no idea it was considered a nauseua-unfriendly...
What I've been eating lately...You don't want to know. But, I will share this...for those still dealing with m/s (and I dont know if this is a no-brainer or not) but...popcorn is NOT a good idea. No matter HOW you are craving it...

Finally getting over here to our new digs!
Mark me down as "surprise", we won't be finding out!
Seems like most of us who have been pg before are experiencing the same things. I have been much sicker this time around! Mostly a nauseous feeling that sometimes lasts all day. I can't wait for that part to be over! I'm 13 weeks now,so just waiting!

My dr. appt. today was rather disappointing. All they did was urine, weight, and blood pressure. :( She felt it was still too early to check the heartbeat and didn't want to stress me out if we couldn't hear it. Haven't gained any weight but not worried as I only gained 3lb in first tri. with pg#1. I'm positive for Group B Strep which I knew from pg#1. She said if I have any symptoms, I'll be put on an antibiotic. If not, the bacteria count is low enough, I'll just need antibiotics during labor. We did that with DS and all was good. I have my nuchal u/s next Fri the 6th so we'll be to see the babe and heartbeat then. It'll be a long week. Otherwise starting to feel better. Still taking morning naps but it's more a luxury than an absolute necessity about half the time.
Next regular dr. appt 10/26.
Hope you all are feeling better. Congrats to those in 2nd trimester.

Hi Mommies-To-Be:
I hope this message finds each of you well.
Thank you threadmistress for the new thread. Wow, I cannot believe that the second trimester is already here!
My next OB appt: October 16
My 3-D ultrasound is scheduled for November 1st! My DH and I will be finding out the sex!
I will be 17 weeks when we have the ultrasound. I have a quick question: A few people have told me that I better be careful when we find out the sex this early because if its a girl it could actually turn out to be a boy. Has anyone else had an ultrasound this early before? Or does anyone know of someone who did have an ultrasound around this time? Was the doctor right about the sex of the baby? The high-risk doctor who will be performing the ultrasound always does it this early. My ultrasound with my DD was at 22 weeks.
M/S: I thought that I was past m/s, but I am still getting sick to my stomach all day. I am looking forward to the m/s passing for good. I hope all of yours will also pass very soon too! (Sending bye-bye waves to m/s)
Preggo Friends:: I do not have any friends who are pregnant right now. However, it seems like all of my sisters friends are pregnant.
Showing: My tummy is looking fat right now. I think people must look at me and think I have really gained weight. I am looking forward to my belly looking pregnant. I also cannot wait until the baby starts kicking.
Have a good night. :)

Hmmm.... dunno. Someone told me that they look for ovaries to tell if its a girl, since that is something a boy totally wouldn't have... if they say its a girl, maybe just ask where the ovaries are?

Just checking in to the new thread. I can't believe we're in the second trimester already. Time flies! I told my mom she couldn't buy anything baby related until the second trimester, so she has been counting down the days.
This is my first pregnancy, and will be the first grandchild on both sides.
M/S: I think it is just about gone, not that I ever had it bad.
PG friends: None, and no chance of it either. Except for a couple of friends who had babies last year, most everyone in our circle plans to wait until their mid-thirties to have kids (we're late 20's now).
Showing: Well, I have a little bump that DH and I can both see, but I think it is going to be a while until other people can tell. I thought for sure I would show early since I'm pretty thin, but since I've only gained 1/2 lb so far, it might be a few more weeks.
Crazy emotions: My big cry wasn't because of a TV show, it was because I was hungry one night. That's right, I cried because I was hungry. It was 9pm, and I had already eaten dinner, and snacked a few times, and was hungry again. We didn't have anything else that sounded good to eat, and I was really sick of eating every 30 minutes, so I started crying. Then, I started to laugh while I was crying because the situation was so absurd. DH was holding me, but laughing so hard, that it made him cry. The two of us were a crazy mess!
Hope everyone else is feeling good!
My next appt is Oct. 13th.
Oh, and my EDD has been changed to April 5th. I don't really care if it is changed in the thread, since it is only one day. But if I title my posts, that is the date I'll be going by.

During my last pregnancy I had an U/S at 13w 4d and we determined the sex of the baby. My SIL and I were due on the same day and we went to the same ultrasound place (Not our doctor, an U/S tech that has a side business and does gender determination u/S's on the weekends) the very same day. We were able to tell, without a doubt, that my baby was a boy and hers was a girl.
I wish I had a pic of her U/S but the girl anatomy basically looked like three straight lines that were snug up agains the body and the boy anatomy looked like a turtle between the baby's legs, you could totally identify the boy parts.
I'm sure you'll be able to tell for sure at 17 weeks, either way, unless the baby is shy and won't open its legs. But that's another issue altogether!

Tinkerbell: I'll be 17 weeks when I have my u/s too and won't get another until 28 weeks and I'm terrified of being told the baby will be a girl when in fact it's a boy. THat happened to a good friend. She has an u/s at 15 or 16 weeks and was told it was a girl. 2 months later, she was told a boy. I've decided I'll only believe what I'm told if I can see a very clear shot between the legs ;).
I was sent home from work yesterday. Apparently I looked like death or pretty close. I felt pretty awful, too, so I was secretly thrilled when my boss pulled me aside and told me to go home and rest. I slept 3 hours, took a nice bath, then was refreshed and in good spirits when DH & DD got home. Oh, and I also started taking my meds for m/s (Phenergan). They work well so far. Unfortunately, DD got sick during the night and woke up twice to vomit, something she's never done before. Poor thing was so scared! Then she woke me at 5:30 to go potty, so needless to say I'm a little exhausted this morning.

The high-risk doctor who will be performing the ultrasound always does it this early. My ultrasound with my DD was at 22 weeks.I don't think 17 weeks is too early. I have a book that outlines the daily development of the baby and male genitalia begins developing outward in the 8-10 week period. Actually, no matter when you have the u/s there is a chance that they get the gender wrong. That's why they don't give you a guarentee when they tell you! Although, I'm guessing that the 3D u/s greatly increases your chances of getting a very good (and accurate) picture of the area :).
showing - I definitely look pg, but not enough that total strangers feel comfortable commenting. I've seen people glance at my belly, but nobody has said anything to me yet. ;)
pg friends - None for me, but a good friend and my sister both had babies earlier this year.
Any other second (or third) timers feeling movement already? - I've been picking up little squirms here and there for about a week now. Last night I felt a few distinct taps when I layed down :D.

I keep thinking that I feel something, just every once in awhile. I'm getting excited about feeling the baby this time. My placenta was between my belly and the baby last time so I very rarely felt him kick, unless it was a rib or side shot.

I've felt a few tingles when I lie down that I suspect to be movement, but I still think it's a little early to really feel anything. I'm giving it another few weeks before I'll say for sure.

kicks/squirms I feel like I have felt a couple here and there, mostly when sitting for a while and my pants are a bit tight around my belly! I'm trying to remember what it felt like with DD, and it seems like it could be movement, but I also think it's a bit early. I can't wait for actual kicks!
pg friends My best friend since first grade is also pg!! She is due March 10, it's been fun comparing stories so far. One of my college roommates/BMs is also pg--with #4!! She's an old vet at this point;)

Sorry you looked so bad, but at least your office is sensitive enough to realize you needed a break! thank goodness for drugs, hope they help. :)

There is a thread here of "money shots" ;) where you can see the difference between boys and girls via u/s. I think the girls have 3 dots on the screen...

Anyone else get breathless for no reason? Not always...just every once in a while...its weird. Don't remember it from last time... occasional heart racing sure, breathless no...

Happy Friday Girls!
Just checking in to say hello. I just told my boss about the baby this morning and it was received well. I was SO nervous but I'm feeling much better now.
Today I am 14w and I just can't believe how quickly the time is flying by already! I will have the AFP test in less than two weeks and it won't be long before the anatomy u/s in early November. Crazy!
Happy to report that I am feeling better and better with each passing day. M/S only rarely comes now...I'm still gagging every once in a while if I let my stomach get too empty. The GI issues remain present and painful, but I guess I'm also getting used to that. And yes happy1 I have been getting breathless a lot lately too-especially when going up stairs.
I'm glad someone posted about feeling movements because the other morning I rolled over in bed and felt a tiny fluttering, like someone drummed their fingers over my abdomen. I thought it was still too early to feel movement, but this was distinctly different than anything I have felt before so I wondered if it was the baby. For all I know, it could have been gas!
BTW, I am also a first timer...it looks like we are about even in terms of first timers and RO's. And thank goodness for the RO's-you guys have been a wealth of info.
Anyway, I hope everyone continues to feel more and more normal & human again. Have a wonderful weekend!

Yesterday was rough for me! I took my meds for m/s at lunch, completely disreguarding my dr's warning that they may make me drowsy. I felt like I'd swallowed a bottle of Nyquil! I was exhausted all afternoon. My eyes kept drooping shut and nothing I did could keep me awake. It was awful. Then I take another dose an hour before bed - and nothing! If anything, I'm wide awake. Explain that to me . I'm trying to go w/o taking anything until I get home today.
DD & I are going to a baby shower on Sunday. It's for a friend whose daughter was born 1 month before mine and now she's having a boy in November. I'm excited our little ones will all be so close. I still haven't bought a gift yet - better run to Target sometime soon!

Breathless
Not only do I get breathless, but my nose runs constantly. So annoying.
Movement
I felt a very distinct movement this morning when I was sitting, talking on the phone to a friend. So exciting!
Herewego
That's totally what the movements feel like: drumming, fluttering, bubbly. They don't hurt or pinch or anything (well, not til the last trimester when they are beating on your ribs!), almost feels like a nervous-tummy-feeling. Congrats! Isn't it so cool?
I had such a nice day today. Met 3 of my friends (who all happen to be on CC as well :) ) at the Central Park Zoo. It was so fun. The weather was perfect, the animals were cooperative and I actually had energy and could eat. Yay!
Have a wonderful weekend ladies!!

(From my Journal)
Hey everyone!! I had my appointment today with my new doctor. It went *really* well. I actually met with a midwife that works there in the office and she spent a good 1 1/2 hours going over everything with me. She went over my paperwork and medical history pretty thoroughly. She then did an exam and listened to the baby's heartbeat (about 150 beats per minute). While we were listening to the baby's heartbeat, we also got to hear the baby kick, which was a cool little sound. After the baby kicked, his/her heartbeat increased, which she said was a good sign of a healthy baby. So glad to hear that! :) All in all, I was really impressed with all the personal attention and attention to detail that they gave me. I will definitely be calling and cancelling my doctor's appointment at my other doctor's office and sticking with this new doctor. They are also testing my urine to see that I still have my bladder infection that I've been dealing with for the past few months. Hopefully I will have those results on Monday. She said that if I didn't hear anything from them, then everything was fine, but I am sure that is an unlikely situation. I know I have something going on. I'll keep you all updated on that. Also, I scheduled my next appointment with them which is November 6th.

Married Happy to hear everything went well. I'm glad you like your new dr. It's amazing the difference a kind and attentive dr. can make. I switched right before I got pg with DS. I love my OBs.
I'm feeling good today but had insomnia last night. I woke up at 4am and couldn't fall back asleep until 6:30.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Married: I'm so glad you had a good appointment and found a good dr! That makes all the difference. I switched after I had DD and absolutely love my dr.
DH and I are sick. He picked up some stomach virus and was sick all day yesterday. My MIL was over last night and a few minutes into her visit I ran into the bathroom and began vomiting. I finished and found her in DD's bedroom, packing an overnight bag. Thank God she's taken her for the weekend. I was up from 2-6, alternately vomiting and channel surfing, completely unable to sleep. I finally managed to get some rest and called my dr's office and spoke with the nurse practioner. I was told to eat crackers and chicken broth, drink clear fluids, and eat 100% fruit popsicles b/c the baby needed the sugar. If I were to have started vomiting again, I was to call them and go to the ER to get on an IV so I wouldn't get dehydrated. Thankfully I've only felt crappy and weak today, no more vomiting. And speaking of having a good dr, the nurse I spoke with this morning called again this afternoon, just to check on me. I was impressed. I'm feeling okay now and hoping that a good night's rest will have me feeling almost normal tomorrow.

Has anyone else been having stomach pains? I've been having lots of them, especially after I eat. They feel like gas pains, but I'm not sure they are... anyone else having these?

Hi Ladies-
Surprisingly, I've actually felt somewhat normal the last few days. No major issues...no m/s, no hunger pains, I'm sleeping decently and I've noticed that I'm only waking up 1-2 times to pee (as opposed to 3-4 time in recent weeks.) Still having some minor GI issues (Married, you are most likely having gas/intestinal issues...very common. I have been plagued by this!)
but overall-dare I say-I feel good!
Now, of course this is freaking my out a bit...I mean as much as all those early symptoms suck, at least when you're having them you know things are progressing as they should. So now that I feel somewhat decent, I'm freaked that something is wrong. Am I stressing for no reason? Things are supposed to get easier and we are supposed to feel human again during the second tri right?
Would love some RO reassurance here! :D
Thanks!

13 weeks, 2 days
Married I have a pretty constant gut ache. It worried me at first, but now I've just accepted it as part of the deal. I think it's the progesterone that screws up your GI system and it's all normal.

Good Morning ladies! Work has been really busy so I will try & catch up.
lauren f s Thanks for the picture of that shirt!! I did look for that type of shirt :). I hope you and DH are feeling better.
Tonysweetie Good luck with the dress, that is a tough one :).
tinkerbell We found out DS was DS at 17 weeks and it was VERY obvious :D!!
M/S Still have it :(.
Showing Yup, for sure, even when laying down I have a bump. i am pretty much in full maternity now. I am trying not to wear "obvious" maternity tops, but it's just a matter of time. I feel so frumpy! I have had someone ask if there was maybe 2 in there since I popped so early  .
Emotions Yeah, I want to cry at the drop of a hat now in days. I don't but I have a hard time holding it back.
Movement It's funny someone asked this. I still feel way to early for movement, but I swear I felt the baby move a little bit ago this morning while sitting at my desk, that slight butterfly fluttering. I have heard that it is easier to feel the 1st time sitting. Now, I have lots of gas, but it wasn't that sensation, I know that quite well. It just seems to early! Don't know??
MarriedaGoalie Yup, I get those stomach pains often, that and severe round ligament pain, yuk!
happy1nuv Breathless, yup. I walk up a couple of flights of stairs for work and yikes, I am out of breathe once I get to the top and it takes a while to get it back.
So I have my Nuchal Fold test on Thursday morning, looking forward to seeing the baby again. I am looking forward to the 2nd tri and being able to stop my progesterone suppositories. I think they are part of the reason m/s is hanging on.
I was at Sears on Fri and got a bunch of great maternity clothes, they had a TON of really nice stuff, I was impressed. It was all layed out so neatly. I then went to JCPenney and I was not at all impressed. target is just so-so and I don't have an Old Navy or Gap maternity near me :(.
Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day!

Just wanted to pop in and say thank you to kimthebride. I went to Lane Bryant this weekend to check out the BAB-club bra selection. I scored two bras for $35. :D The fit is HEAVEN compared to what I was wearing before. I was slightly disappointed b/c they didn't seem to have 36 sizes, so I opted for the 38 and it fit perfectly!!! Thanks so much for the recommendation!

HR was 176 and he/she is measuring at 10weeks exactly. Two arms and two legs and beautiful profile. #2 waved hi to mommy which was so amazing.
BP was 102/70 the best ever. I have lost 9lbs, amazing. And everything else is great. I go back in 3 weeks for my consult with the nurse and I have a script for my lab work (oh yippee!) My new EDD is April 30th
I had a great weekend maternity clothes shopping with my best friend. Bought some great pants at ON. I am still in most of my PrePG clothes but the pants and shorts are getting a little snug. I was glad to get these new clothes.
SICKIES Still naseous most of the time. To top it all off I have the start of a great cold today. I am sneezy and congested. I dont' feel so great and I am exhausted to boot. DH is home sick today and my poor DS is having a horrible time with a runny nose and a cough. We are not a pretty household right now.

I got some great maternity buys as well. So far I have 3 pairs of capri pants, and tons of tops. I got a real cute one at Sears the other day for only $14.00
I feel like everyone is so far ahead of me. I'm seeing 13 weeks, 14 weeks, and I'm still in 10! lol. I'm ready to be in the 2nd trimester officially so I can relax and feel a bit better! My symptoms are starting to fad away. I haven't had much m/s problems in over a week. My bb's still hurt from time to time and I still cannot sleep until like 6 am. I do most of my sleeping from 6 am to 11 am. I hate it! I wish I could sleep like I used too from 11pm to 7 am. Ohwell. I'm still not showing that much but enough to wear my maternity pants and tops and DH says he can tell I'm PG and not just pudgy so that is a start! :) We went to Toys R Us yesterday and I checked out all the baby stuff. THey had the cutest stroller that I want. DH wants it too. It was a "Jeep" stroller. So cute! Saturday DH and I are going to Sea World. We have year around passes and haven't used them in a few months so we thought we'd go while I'm able to walk around comfterably. So I'm pretty excited about that but don't have a clue is to what I'm going to wear. It's still hot here in FL and I don't have any maternity shorts so I might be stuck wearing some of my gym shorts or something. Hmm that'll look nice, lol. Well I hope everyone has a blessed day!!!

Tonysweetie DH and I took our kids to Sea World on Saturday. It was pretty hot but still such a great time. I wore a pair of cargo shorts and a tank top shirt and I was fine. I got more tired than usual so we had flexible plans. Hope you have a great time!!!
Our news is finally out to my family and friends. DH surprised me on Friday with a HUGE birthday dinner and he invited all of family and my best friends without me knowing. He made the announcement to the group at dinner. I was wondering why he didn't want to tell anyone until my birthday but now I know it was just a part of his overall plan. Everyone was really excited for us. I had the best night (weekend) of my life.
I think I can officially say that my sickies have hit the road. I still have a bad day every once in awhile but for the most part I think i'm in the clear. There are still foods I can't look at, though.

The family and I went to Sea World in San Antonio last year in November (the week before Thanksgiving) and it was the best time to go. The only part that sucks is that all the water rides are closed, but everything else is open and there are VERY short lines!! If anyone is planning a trip, I highly suggest November as a time to go! Be careful if you're going to see Shamu, though. We got SOAKED by Shamu on the first day and it wasn't real warm out so it took me all day to dry out (of course I was wearing jeans, too, which sucked).

I just got back from the OB. Okay, that's a lie; I had to pick up DS from daycare and go buy myself a watch. Anyway, I'm back.
The appointment was pretty standard-- blood pressure, pap smear, breast exam, and internal exam. Everything checked out just fine. When it came time to check for the baby's hb, my OB couldn't find it. He ended up using this really ancient u/s machine where one could make out very vague shapes. He showed us the hb on that, so it worked out okay. One interesting thing I learned while at the OB's office might interest those of you ladies who are still struggling with m/s and getting your prenates down. He suggested that I buy some Flinstone's Vitamins. He told me to take two a day until I could stomach my prenate. He said that since Flintstone's are made for kids, they're a bit more gentle than adult vitamins.
I'm having an u/s tomorrow to determine a better date for this little baby. So, we'll see what happens tomorrow. He also mentioned another u/s at 20 weeks.
Next OB appointment 11/6/2006

Hi all! I'm finally caught up on posts! We took DD to Disney World for the week and had a great time. She loved the characters and we loved watching her have so much fun. We'll definitely be back.
Anyhow, today I had a couple appointments and everything looks good. First I went to the perinatologist who did an ultrasound and checked everything out. Nuchal fold looks good, nasal bone looks good. HB looked good at 157. Organs all look good and the baby has some adorable toes. Baby measured right on schedule at 13w1d. The doc also ventured a guess that we're having another girl!! We'll see!
After that I went to see my regular ob. I'm seriously considering switching. They've blown me off time and time again. Today she was in surgery so I had to see the nurse practicioner. I understand that the office is busy but they are bordering on neglect during these appts. The np said she probably wouldn't be able to see the hb this early (heard it last pg at 12w no problem) and then when I said I had the other appointment she didn't even try. She just asked a bunch of questions that should have been in my chart and said see you in four weeks. No discussion of the bloodwork I had done 3 weeks ago, no information on the upcoming quad screen let alone the anatomy ultrasound. Completely useless appointment. I really like the doc but if I never see her what's the point.
At least the baby is doing well and I'm doing well. I'm feeling mostly fine and am grateful for that. I'm glad so many others are feeling better, too! The 2nd tri is the fun one :)

I want to second the book Baby Bargains. It is so helpful especially when it was time to register. Other books I like are Your Pregnancy Week by Week. It's not quite as alarming as What to Expect When You're Expecting. However, I really like What to Expect, The First Year. I found it very helpful. DH and I referred to it a lot during those first months as new parents.
My friend who is due in Feb. Just found out she's having a girl. She was hoping for a boy. I really want a girl and I'm sure I'll end up with another boy. We're joking that if that happens, we might have to trade kids. ;) Also found out a mom in my MOMS Club is due with #2 in May. Her DS is 6mo older than my DS.

I'm glad you all are recommending the book Baby Bargains. Its at the top of my list of things to buy/borrow. Question though - do you think it's ok to buy an older version of the book. See, I'm cheap :p and the 5th edition (2003) sells for $.01 on amazon used, and the new edition (2005) sells for $12+. I know $12 isn't much, but I'd hate to spend the money if I dont need to. So - what do you all think? Old or new?
TIA!

Hi everyone.
Haven't been around, had a pretty bad stretch of feeling like complete sh!t this week and it really, really frsutrated me since I thought I was on an upswing into finally getting better. Blah. I just hate hate hate feeling like this...I just want to be able to enjoy my pregnancy!!! The nausea, inability to eat or drink, the constant headache, the stomach pains...the udder exhaustion. So frustrating. Anyway, enough woe-is-me for now.
New Find
I don't know about the rest of you, but between the metallic taste in my mouth and the aftertaste of regular minty toothpaste I am constantly chewing cinnamon gum. Well, I found Cinnamon Blast Toothpaste by Colgate and it is really helping! I used to gag at the aftertaste of brushing my teeth, and now its ok. Wierd little thing, but I am so glad I found it.
Nuchal
I haver my NT test today. And because I am Bad Mom Of The Year the thing I am looking most to is dropping my toddler off with my friend (whose daughter is the same age, they're best buds) for the entire morning. :o I have been so sick I can't take him out and just trying to change diapers and feed him is exhausting...I am looking forward to the break today. How lame is that? At least this way he has a friend to play with and they will go to the park together.
I'm actually not worried at all about the test...I just can't wait to be told to lay down for a while on the exam table.
Books
Gosh, when I had my pregnancy journal on WC I had a long list of great books. I am a TOTAL bookie, and have read them all! But I can say my faves are:
- Baby Bargains for great info on quality, comparing brands, when to register, etc. I'd be tempted to get a newer version because each year the brands have new products out with improvements (or not!) and the things you'd see in the 2003 version are likely not still on shelves. Though I believe BB has a great website with reviews. Check that out, too.
- Your Baby Week by Week was my pregnancy Bible with DS, and I have it out again now. So much more useful and informative and date-accurate than What to Expect. I jsut don't like WTE at all, the drawings, the scare tactics...I nevber understood the popularity of it.
- The Good Housekeeping Illustrated Book of Pregnancy & Baby Care which I used more after delivering than before. It goes pregnancy, L&D, recovery, getting back in shape, and as it says has both photos and drawings to help you understand better what they are talking about. Its also great because it goes over the very basics, like changing, bathing, feeding, caring for baby. And then how to handle certail first-aid type of things. I like the actual (sometimes gross) pictures of issues like rashes and signs of illness they have for when you spot something wrong on baby. very, very helpful!
- Mayo Clinic Complete Book of Pregnancy & Baby's First Year because it was FREE. Look around for a code from State Farm and you may be able to go to their website and get it sent to you for free. It does repeat some of the stuff in the Good Housekeeping book but what I find is I cross-reference the two of them when i need to know something. The book is massive. If you can't get it free, then I'd get the GH one insted of this.
And finally...
- The Happiest Baby on the Block by Harvey Karp is the #1 best thing ever I have read to prepare me for right after delivering. It is a simple read (or they have the DVD) on how to comfort your baby. I buy it for every baby shower and highly, highly recommend it. I have never met any mom who has read it and didn't like it or it didn't work for them.
In The Womb
I can't recall if someone already wrote about this, but the National Geographic Channel (NCG) has this amazing 1-hour program called "In The Womb" that shows a baby's development pretty much weekly from conception to birth. Even DH was enthralled - very cool! Set your DVRs when you find it.

Nuchal Translucency Test
So last time I had this done, it took me 2 hours on the table to get the image right and a total of 3 hours in the hospital.
Today, I got there early and they saw me early. Literally the 1st image the tech got was exactly what she needed, and I was out of there in under 10 minutes - including the time it took for the specialist to look at the images and see nothing was wrong. She said the baby was very agreeable, to which I replied "then it MUST be a girl" ;).
I then made my big anatomy scan appointment for November 28th. Only 8 weeks away!
Then I got to read 1 page of my book in the waiting room, and was taken to get my blood drawn (the 2nd part of the NT test). As I got it drawn (funny enough, by the same woman who did it 2 years ago!), I told the woman my keytones were +1 this morning and asked about getting IV fluids. She said my blood looked good, and had me pee in a cup to test my keytones. They were good, so no IV needed! Yay!
But of course....we were done with everything even before my appointment was supposed to START so DH walked in right when the OB was telling me I didn't need fluids. :( He missed the whole thing! He was so upset. But alas, we got some great pictures of the little bean waving hello. Check it out:

So my next visit is in 2 weeks to my regular OB for the results (which they believe are all good) and normal checkup. I'm hoping to get a 3D u/s pic, since last time he did it at the same time and it was sooooo cool to see how baby-like he looked at that term.

Kim: I'm glad that things looked good today. Cute u/s pics!
I had my first u/s today to date the pg. I had to have a vaginal one because my uterus is tipped so far back that the baby is deep inside of me. It wasn't so bad. The u/s tech kept getting some screwy measurements because the kid kept wiggling around. She said that the head was measuring 12 weeks, but the crown to rump measurement was only 11 weeks. The tech felt it best to call the pg 11 weeks, which gives me a due date of April 24. I'm not sure if I totally buy it or not. I guess we'll see at 20 weeks.
I'll try to get DH to scan the u/s pic I got to take home sometime tonight.

hi, y'all! Everything's good here. Cute ultrasound photos!
I too had an OB appointment today and everything looked/sounded great. Just one thing: I'm up 10 pounds already!! I guess this can be partially attributed to the fact that my "morning sickness" was only alleviated by eating all the fattening food in sight. But seriously... any tips for slowing the rate of gain? I know I can't "diet," so to speak, but I really want to avoid gaining more than 35 pounds and so far I'm on track for 50-60.

kim, myshel, and ali Glad to hear your appointments went well. Kim, Good news on the nuchal.
books I recommend the most recent Baby Bargains possible. Products change so much year to year. It's worth every penny. Regarding the Mayo Clinic book. I have it and like it. I'm pretty sure State Farm changed the book they are offering. I received the new one too and don't like it nearly as much. It's more generalized if I remember right.
My nuchal is Friday and I'm counting the days. Arrggh! I have no patience. I want to see the little bean and know everything is ok.

I follow along, but rarely have time to type and don't seem to have much to say....
Books - Loved the Pregnancy Week by Week book. I really need to go dig mine out!
Nuchal Fold Test? Everyone getting one of these? I did not have this with DS#1, and my Dr. has not said anything about it for this PG. I have an appointment tomorrow, I'll have to ask!
Kim - Glad your apt went so fast! I really hope your nearing the end of your sickness! I think of you often!
I have a normal appointment tomorrow afternoon. No serious concerns here... I had the tiniest amount of spotting the yesterday (like 1 drop), but I'm not overly concerned. I continue to be exhausted, but who of us isn't? Oddly enough, now that I'm in the 2nd trimester, I'm actually starting to get some nausea. I can't believe I made it through the first tri without getting sick at all.....that may end shortly, though.

Feel really good which is werid for me lately. Has anyone else noticed that their symptoms have disappeared. I'm still feeling tired but my sore bb's are gone, m/s gone, I can eat pretty normal again. Is this normal? I have noticed I'm getting frequent headaches which I read is normal. I was finally done being nervous but all of sudden I'm nervous again. My next apt. is on the 23rd and I know she is going to look for the HB and I'm afraid she won't find one. :( She found a heartbeat at my last apt. but she wasn't quite sure if it was mine or the baby's b/c it was super faint. She said it was too early which I knew but still. Okay I'm done freaking out....lol

AKA Nuchal Translucency, so far as I know! I looked it up on-line to learn what it was all about and Babycenter.com used both terms in their description.... Maybe I read too quickly and missed something!

Books - Thanks for the book suggestions guys. I will have to check out barnes & noble this weekend to get the latest edition. I'm excited! I've heard a lot of great things about Baby Bargains.
Nuchal Fold - not all doctor's do the Nuchal Fold test. I know my doctor does the AFP/Quad Screen instead - at 16 weeks.
Symptoms - My morning sickness officially went away at around 12-13 weeks. But headaches soon stepped in to replace them. They are mild enough that I dont need tylenol too much, but still they are there. My boobs are still sore (although not as sore as they were) and out of control huge. They dont seem to be finished growing either. Fun! One thing I've noticed in the last week or two is MAJOR fatigue. I get home and immediately nap. Then usually I'm up from about 7:30 pm - 9pm... then I'm asleep again. I'm patiently waiting for that 2nd trimester "surge of energy" I hear so much about!
I love everyone's u/s and belly pics!! Keep 'em coming!

I'm up 10 pounds already!! I guess this can be partially attributed to the fact that my "morning sickness" was only alleviated by eating all the fattening food in sight. But seriously... any tips for slowing the rate of gain?
Lol, this was me with DS. My m/s with him was such that I needed to be eating buttery carbs 24x7 to keep it at bay, and I gained 7lbs in my 1st trimester. Whoops!
I found that once my 2nd trimester hit I ate so much better, and felt good enough to work out regularly again. I did cardio on the elliptical and interval training in my building's gym (you know, lighter weights, lots of reps, keeping the heart rate up, jumping on the elliptical for 3 minutes between each series on the weight machine).
I did gain almost 45lbs overall, but I am also tall and some of that was muscle (I worked with a personal trainer to build up my back, due to a bad back caused by a car accident years ago). Though some of that was cheesecake, too ;). My OB wasn't thrilled, but not worried at all about the weight gain, especially since most of it literally fell off me within 2 months of delivering.
Just remember that once your m/s is better, you really don't need much more food per day to make this baby. Something like 300 calories, which is about an extra bowl of cereal or yogurt and apple a day! Also, avoid drinking any calories - my OB forbid me from guzzling orange juice since it is so caloric and all the folic acid you need is in your prenatals.
And exercise when you feel up to it. Walking, prenatal yoga, lower-intensity cardio on elliptical machines are all great.
Nuchal Translucency/Nuchal Fold
My OB is high-risk and with my 1st pregnancy we knew of a genetic issue that I may have been a carrier of, so we just went right ahead and did all the genetic testing since it was covered under my insurance anyway.
With this pregnancy, we just went with the NT test...I will be 31 when I deliver, and I think they prefer to do it when you're in your 30's anyway. For me, its no big deal, I wasn't worried, it was covered under my insurance, and its fun to watch the bean on the big tv monitor they have at the foot of the table for us to watch. :) Mine was perfectly fine.
It is a u/s and bloodwork, mine done at the hospital.
Hi wendstress! I think of you too, and always wonder about you when you're MIA for a while. :)

Cute ultrasound and belly pics!
It sounds like everyone is feeling good overall as we all move into the second trimester. I thought I was completely over my mild morning sickness, until I threw up last night from brushing my teeth. Other than that, everything is great. I can eat almost anything again, and I only need a nap in the evening to keep me going (as opposed to laying on the couch from the minute I get home and getting up only to go to bed at night).
I just noticed there is a June 2007 Moms thread! We really have come so far in our pregnancies.

Hey Ladies-
Glad to hear that people are beginning to feel better....I started noticing my symptoms were dissipating last weekend and as grateful as I am for some relief, the absence of m/s and other symptoms made me nervous! Happy I'm not alone. :)
Tests-I had the Nuchal at 12 weeks since it was recommened by my doc and covered by insurance. I'm 29, and even though that's not "advanced maternal age" quite yet, we both felt comfortable moving forward to the NT. The test was non-invasive and really fun because we got to see so much detail on the u/s. I think there is a relatively short window for the test though...like 12-15weeks maybe? So if you haven't gotten it and you want to, you should look in to getting it scheduled right away.
I'm also having the AFP screening at 16 weeks. I'm sort of in the mind set that the more I know and the more reassurance I can have that things are fine, the better. And if they aren't fine, then I believe knowledge is power so DH and I will have the time and space to make decisions and educate ourselves about potential problems with the baby.
Weight-Besides ali_ohli, how much have people gained so far? I've gained about 5-6 lbs (varies depending on how my GI track is going!) and have pretty much been stuck at the same number for a few weeks now. Is this on track for what is expected?
As for managing weight gain, I'm pretty set on exercising regularly (I live in NYC so I normally get a lot of walking in). I've been going to the gym 3-4 times a week for light cardio and weights. I'm also working with a trainer who is helping to strengthen my core, pelvic muscles & back (he's certified in pre-and post-natal care) and that has been going pretty well so far. After the carb-fest that was the last three months, I'm now trying to cut back and regain control over what I put in my mouth. But it's not easy and sometimes you just have to have that bagel, you know?
Anyway, hope everyone has a good day!

Good Morning ladies! Glad some of you are starting to feel better!
Weight I have gained 5 lbs so far because of having to eat to feel decent. I remember with DS that I also had the same, and then I didn't gain hardly anything the 2nd tri since I was back to eating normally again.
Tests I have my nuchal tomorrow, looking forward to seeing the baby again :).
Books Baby bargains was a great book as well! My vote for that. Other than that, I just read a few things from the library, never really bought anything.
MarriedaGoalie Looking good!
kimthebride & annielynn Look at that good looking babies :).
m/s has been really bad here for the last few days but is a bit better today. Usually if I start off with m/s in the morning, it will be a very bad day. Well, so far, very minor, so it should be a good day. I can't wait till it's gone.
My nuchal is tomorrow and since I am seeing the Perinatologist, I want to ask if I can get off the progesterone and I am thinking that may be keeping the m/s around longer than it should, not sure.
Other than that, work is busy and DS is keeping me VERY busy, those darn 2-yr molars. I tell you, my least favorite part of the 1st 2-yrs is teething, it sucks big time!!!
Anyway, gotta get back to work. Have a great day!

Weight: I've actually lost right at 10 pounds, but I was so sick and throwing up for the first 10 weeks that it didn't surprise me that I'd lost weight. And then I was sick with a nasty stomach virus and vomiting all weekend, so I lost a little more then. I know at some point I'll gain it back. Right now I take DD on a walk every day after work and once I'm back to feeling 100% I'll start working out in the gym again.
Testing: We'll have the AFP done at my next appt, when I'll be 17 weeks.
Books: I also loved Baby Bargains & Your Pregnancy: Week by Week. I also recommend Your Baby: Week by Week. I loved that book, as well!
I'm feeling pretty good. I'm not sleeping well at all, which is no fun, but I'll take that over the horrible m/s any day!

Sickies - I keep thinking that they're gone, but I'm still having yucky evenings. I'm really hoping that it tapers off soon, I'm taking a difficult class this term and I need those evening hours to study!
Nuchal Test - They took some nuchal measurements at my last u/s, but it wasn't the NTT. The perinatologist advised me that we'll do the NTT on 10/17 IF it turns out that I don't need the amnio.
Spotting - I just realized yesterday that I have been spotting lightly. It's just been a day or two, but I had some spotting a few weeks ago too. I'm not worried or anything, but I sure feel stupid for not noticing it earlier!
Weight - Only gained one pound as of my last appointment. However, I'm not at my optimal weight ;), so I'm supposed to keep pregnancy gain to 20-25lbs. I didn't gain any weight during my first pregnancy until I hit the 24 week mark, so maybe this pregnancy will be similar.

Weight As of my appt. last week, I hadn't gained anything, maybe 1/2 a lb. I only gained 3lb. during 1st tri. with DS so not too worried. I am eating much worse this time around though. Last time I dropped the caffeine and a lot of sugar at least during 1st tri. I also upped the veggie intake. This time, I'm eating crap. I love Chocolate Fudge PopTarts :o . I think part of it is the mild m/s too. I'm happy to eat anything that doesn't make me gag. Last night I really wanted ramen but none in the house which was proabably for the best.

Weight ~ At my last appointment, I had gained 1 pound too.. The actual vomiting has slowed down some (although not the dry heaves, ugh)... so I expect my next appt will have a bigger number. If I was eating healthy, I wouldn't care what that number is... but my biggest gripe right now is the sh1tty food I'm putting in my body. If it's fried or overly processed, its for me! (YUCK... considering I'm usually a health nut... it's a bit concerning..but, at least I'm eating is what I tell myself lately...)

This is where I am at too.
I lost weight and then with the meds I am now back up to 2lbs below pre-preg weight. I gained 1lb a week for the last 2 weeks, so that for me is actually good.
BUT - and big but here - I am a quasi-vegetarian who normally eats a very healthy diet, aside from my naughty little sweet tooth. I can go months without eating fries, I never add salt to anything, can go a year without drinking a soda or sweetened drink (other than coffee). And yet...all I can get down these days is fried, processed, fatty, cholesterol-laden crap with tons of salt. Yuck. I don't know how people eat this stuff every day!
Chocolate
This is nuts.
It is the ONLY thing I am allergic to in the world, ever.
I craved it my ENTIRE 1st pregnancy, and the other night I began dreaming about eating it (boy was it good).
Why oh why must I want what I cannot have? :(
Ladies, please eat something chocolatey on my behalf. lil nance, it sounds like you may be helping me already. ;)

Interesting Info about pregnancy gender dreams. I had a real doozy of one and it was a boy and I saw him. After reading this, I am sure now that I will have a boy again. I was also right with DS.
I read that if you see the baby and are sure of the gender and the dream sticks around where you can remember it the next day vividly, it could be 90% accurate.

Dreams
When I was pregnant with DD I had 3 dreams that I was having a girl. She looked nothing like the baby in my dreams, except that it was a girl. I've had no dreams about this baby, though DH claims he's had one and it's a boy. But I think that's because he's not-so-secretly hoping for a boy ;).

Weight: I'm down three pounds from my first appointment with the np. I suspect I was down even further than that at one point, but I've started to feel better so...
Dreams: I dreamed and *knew* that DS was a boy long before we found out. I remember mentioning to you guys before that I had a very vivid dream about a boy with the same coloring as DS following DS as they walked away from me. I'm starting to feel more and more that this is a boy. DH thinks girl, but I don't know. I look at the u/s pic and even thought there's an alien looking bean in there, it just looks like a boy to me.

I finally had my first baby dream last night! I dreamt that the baby came pretty early and it was REALLY small and I kept trying to put it back because it was too small. Isn't that weird? I hope that isn't true! I also dreamt that he/she had BRIGHT RED hair!! :) I'm excited about that part. In my dream, I kept saying that it was a boy and Rob kept saying that, no, it was a girl, so I didn't get any real answers out of that! Weird, huh? Any interpretations of my dream?

Interesting dream Married. I can't interpret, I'm terrible at that! I do know that with DD I dreamt she had bright blue eyes and dark brown hair and I was convinced that's how she'd look. Of course, she doesn't, she has light brown hair and hazel eyes, but it was still a nice dream ;).
DD spent the day with my parents, sister, and nephew yesterday. DH & I have decided to keep the baby's name to ourselves until he/she's born. My family, however, is convinced we're doing this because the name is really awful, not because we want to have some sort of surprise on the big day. So my sister spent the afternoon trying to bribe Ava with candy to get her to reveal the name . So far she doesn't say them unless we do first, so we're safe....for now.

Naming: Pretty much everyone knew DS's name before we had him. We told a few people and then it spiraled out of control. We also had to be pretty careful in picking a name, because my mom is 90% deaf and has a difficult time with pronounciations. We had to run the name by her to see if she could say it.
As with DS, we're having a hell of time finding a girl's name for this baby, just in case.

My appt. this morning went fairly well. Heartbeat was 164 so that's good. The baby wasn't cooperating with the u/s tech. Baby just wanted to sleep rather than be in position for measurements. In the end he got what he wanted though. No guess on the sex just yet. Said the cord was in the way. I think they were just being extra cautious. Took more blood and should have results in 3-7days. Here's the latest photo of my sleeping beauty.

Names: diedra I love the name Avery for a girl. It's actually on our list and it's the one that's currently a secret from the rest of the family. With DS we didn't find out sex ahead of time so we announced the names. This time, I've told people possible names but I think we'll keep the final choice a secret. Who knows we might change our minds on the chosen name after delivery.
QOTD for ROs Big kid bed or second crib? I can't decide. DS sleeps so well in his crib and he'll only be 21mo when the baby arrives. My dad made the crib so for sentimental reasons, DS will have to switch either way so that this kid can get a turn in it. If we go to a big kid bed it would be the full size mattress we already own.

Nancy: I know I've discussed this in the July 2005 thread, but we're going to try the "big boy" bed first. Actually, DH is upstairs painting the room right now. ;) DS will be using our current bed (a full size) as we plan on purchasing a new bed for ourselves in November ( a luxurious queen size!!!). If this doesn't work out well, then we'll borrow a crib from my sister until we can complete the transition.
Our plan is to start soon, so that by April the whole ordeal won't be so traumatic. Last weekend, I had DS over a a friend's house and put him to bed in a guest bed they had. DS did really well in it, so along as we had a small area blocked off by pillows.

lil nance ~ I vote for Big kid bed. Unless you have money (and space) to burn... Nic is sleeping on a mattress on the floor already (we're SLOWLY working on his big kid room) ... and he's had no probs (he hated the crib though) ... Since you already have the mattress... why not try him out for a few nights before deciding? Or maybe see if he'll nap there if you don't want to disrupt nighttime? Kind of a test run kind of thing...

Beds
I'd go with a big kid bed. We moved DD to one for her 2nd birthday and she didn't have any problems with the transition. We still have the crib up in her room and almost every day she tells us "That's the baby's bed, this (her twin bed) is my bed." I think your DS will do fine with the transition.

I just noticed from looking at your signature that our kids are so close together in age! How fun!
I'm planning to keep Evan in the crib until the baby is ready to move into the crib. But I plan to get his big boy bed and put it in his room with the crib for awhile. So he gets used to it. With Drew, we borrowed a crib from a neighbor and had it in the nursery because everything felt so unfinished without it but for this one I'm not going to bother. It was too much work setting up and and taking down the second crib just to take apart and reassemble ours. Evan stayed in the bassinet until he was almost 5 months (I know, totally absurd) so I figure somewhere between the time #3 is born and Evan is 2 we'll make the transition. I'll just wait until he's ready.

Crib or Big Boy Bed?
We have a couple scenarios:
1. We don't sell our condo and move into house before April
- We may need to move us (DH & I) out of our bedroom and into the den/office/tv room/guest area onto the foldout couch (we currently share a room). DS will stay in his crib and DC#2 will sleep in the cradle next to me for about 4 months. Hopefully we can move before s/he's out of the cradle!
2.We sell our place and move into house
- We'll likely get a big boy bed for DS's new room, but also keep the crib in there. Once we move, he'll get used to the new space in the familiar crib and eventually transitiion to the bed when he's ready. We'll keep DC#2 in the cradle next to us, and transition him/her into the crib in his/her own room at about 4 or 5 months.
Names & Sex
DH has asked a couple times to not find out the sex, but I just can't wait. I don't think he'll make a deal out of it and if he does I'll find out and not tell him or anyone (I am a Secret Vault!). As for names, we're pretty sure its a girl and have a few names we're thinking of. I don't mind sharing them, because I have no problems tossing aside un-requested opinions of those who make stupid comments about our choices ;).

Lol! I can't make heads or tails out of that dream....but why the red hair? My mom's whole family are redheads, so my FIL (whose whole family is VERY Italian) always jokes that DS's hair may go red because it gets DH's goat. I love red hair! Though it would be funny for a blonde and brunette to have a redhead. :)

I had a weekend trip to MA for my mom's bday, and I actually felt ok. Yay! It is so beautiful up there this time of year. We did apple picking and everything. It was so nice to have my body actually cooperate for once.
I even ate a normal dinner, which was exciting. Though now I have about 25lbs of apples I don't know what to do with!!!

Well, my hair is red, so the red hair isn't that surprising, especially when DH has a red tint to his hair as well. My niece has BRIGHT red hair (like orange practically). :)

I just got back from my OB appt. HB was 150 and I lost weight. BP was high so they retested and it was normal (white coat syndrome). My nuchal results came back normal, which was a relief.
I haven't experienced any nausea in about two weeks and I'm thankful everyday. I'm starting to enjoy the pregnancy at this point. DH finally starting telling his family this weekend. I'm curious to see how they all take the news. Lets just say they are less than diplomatic about things. Should be interesting.
My next OB appt is November 9 and my BIG U/S is November 21

I can't tell you're a redhead from the picture - so that totally makes sense! :) I got a blonde-vibe from my baby dreams with DS, and he's a little blondey...though most of our family has either red hair (my side, except for me) or black/brown hair on DH's side and my father's family. So the blonde was unlikely, but happened.

Married: I'd love a red headed baby. My hair is dark auburn and my youngest sister's is bright red. I have a nephew the same age as DD who has ivory skin, bright red hair, and baby blue eyes. He's gorgeous!
Michael'sbride: I'm glad your appt went well.
I'm feeling okay today. I have the worst headache, but I think that's due to my slightly old contacts because my eyes are aching as well. All of my snug and/or well-fitting non-maternity shirts no longer fit. I tried to wear one yesterday and it was much to snug to be comfortable. I'm going shopping this weekend for a few things.

I drive DH's family nuts because none of them can keep a secret (like Xmas gifts, bday suprises, etc) and yet I can not only hold one but never let on I have one. They were all floored when I announced our pregnancy with DS because I was just in the 2nd trimester and had spent time with them about 3x during my pregnancy by then. We would be fine, as long as DH didn't tell anyone I knew - not that I'd ever give in and tell...(insert evil laugh here ;) ).
Emotional
OMG I am officially a weepy preggo lady. I cried my way through Grey's Anatomy and ER last week, as well as long distance telephone commercials and when I saw just the flowers on Today Throws A Wedding I had to grab the tissues. I am such a sap now!
Headache
I have such a killer one right now, and I know its because I didn't drink much today. Ugh. Bad Kim - off to guzzle....oh, something that doesn't gag me....there's got to be something around here....

Headache I've had one for two days. I think, like Kim said, that its due to not drinking enough. Although, after reading this it may be another random 2nd tri symptom.
I'm off shopping this weekend too. A Kohl's just opened in our area so I plan to check it out.

clothes I pulled out my maternity pants this weekend and realized most of them won't work this time. They are either too nice (work pants) or too light weight. I'm going to try a consignment store before I break down and order from JC Penny's. For shirts, I'm loving the long sleeve Gap t-shirts right now. They've got enough stretch and are long enough to cover the belly. Plus they look great layered. Kohl's has some good stuff especially their clearance prices.
Emotions I've felt depressed all day. I went to the park and ate a good dinner hoping that would help. It didn't do much for me. I've just got the blahs. I totally bawled watching Ghost Whisperer last week.
Friends I've told both of my mom groups that I'm expecting. There are 2 other ladies in one group who are also due around the same time. It will be fun having kids the same age.
Beds We planned on keeping Connor in the bassinet for 3mo but he was so noisy we moved him earlier. Because of that, I want the crib available if the new baby is noisy too. Mommy needs some sleep. :)
Michael's Bride Evan and Connor are really close in age. I hadn't noticed that either.

Hi all, hope you are doing well.
Headaches - I am getting a headache pretty much every day. Tylenol doing just ok to get rid of it. They are that dull sinus-ey kind.
Clothes - My mom and I went to old navy this weekend and I scored like 8 shirts and 2 pants for $84! :D They had all their summer stuff on clearance for $2.97, so I snagged a bunch of everyday shirts.
Round Ligament Pain - I'm feeling it. It comes and goes in spurts. But yowch does it hurt!!
I'm leaving on Friday for 7 days to San Francisco for a work-related conference. I'm curious as to how I'll do. The flight will be LOOOONG - something like 6 hours. Then, the jetlag. I have never experienced jetlag, so it should be a week of firsts for me. I also have to rummage through the coat closet at my parents house and see if there's anything that will fit. It's supposed to be like 50 degrees - which is C-C-Cooold for this Florida girl. ;)
I'm definitely showing much more over the last week. Although for me, it still looks like I've got a beer gut, rather than a baby in there. Blah!
Have a great day ladies!

Clothes: I've gotten some great deals. I got a ton of clothes at JC Pennys, like 5 shirts and 2 pairs of pants for about $80.00, and I got a pair of pants at Walmart and a spag. top for like $15.00, and just the other day I went to Ross and got a pair of black pants, a white tank top that says "baby" across it and a black jacket to match the pants that also says "baby" on it. I got those 3 for about $30.00. All I really need right now is some long pants. So far all I got is capri pants and winter is coming up and I'll be traveling over New Years so I need some long pants. Maybe I'll score a good deal soon.
Ligament Pain: Nope haven't been having that, but been having some slight lower back pain every now and then.
Headaches: Oh yes, almost everyday. So far I've sucked it up and haven't taken anything for it.
Other things: Still have sore bb's off and on, belly is growing some but not too much. Haven't had any m/s in about 2-3 weeks so I'm thinking it's over! YAY! My skin is breaking out on my back instead of my face which I guess I'd rather it be there instead.
Other than all that feeling pretty good. I'm glad I made it to 12 weeks! Now I just have the rest of the weeks to worry about, lol. Does it ever stop? My next apt. isn't until the 23rd and I'm getting nervous. It seems everyone has heard their babys heartbeat and I've only seen it. She did pick up a heartbeat at the my last apt. (I was 10 weeks) but she wasn't sure if it was just mine or the babys b/c it was very faint. So I'm a little nervous for this next apt. b/c I'm sure she will be trying again. Well that is all have a blessed day!

Hello ladies! Sorry that I'm such an absentee poster!
I had my 3 month appointment with the Ob/Gyn yesterday. It was pretty uneventful, but we got to hear baby's heartbeat again, this time from a handheld doppler on my belly instead of a transvag ultrasound. Baby's little heart was beating away at 160 beats per minute! :D
I should be hearing back from them very soon on an appointment this week for a nuchal translucency ultrasound as well as an appointment for a Level 2 ultrasound at 18 weeks. I'm also going to have blood drawn today for something called the Serum Integrated Test.
Round Ligament Pain ~ I was having this all the time from early in my pg up until about two weeks ago, but not so much recently. Maybe I just trained myself to remain absolutely still when lying down...Nope, that wouldn't explain it, because I do still eventually have to sit up and/or get out of bed. :) . Can't say that I miss it, but I'm sure it'll be back.
Headaches ~ I've had these too. I just read something last night about second-trimester headaches on ivillage.com:
Hunger, stress, fatigue or noxious fumes may bring on headaches. Try rest, neck massage and avoiding the cause of the headache.
http://parenting.ivillage.com/pregnancy/pemotions/0,,lz_7lqg-2,00.html
Clothes ~ I went the same route as juliemag recently and bought a bunch of super-inexpensive basics on clearance at Old Navy. The tops were so cheap (i.e. less than $3 or $4) that I bought several favorites in a size S for now and size M for later. Now that I've checked out a bunch more of the photos in the belly shots thread, I think I probably should've bought some larges for even later! Oh well. I've got plenty of time for shopping between now & April!

I may pick some more stuff up in the next week or so, when I feel up for a day at the outlet mall. I have a decent amount of jeans, a couple sweater, a raincoat, etc from my last pregnancy but I need some more.

Hi Tonysweetie!
Try not to worry about the heartbeats from your previous appointments. I know, I know, it's easier said than done. ;) If they saw the heartbeat on an ultrasound, it's great news! Did they turn on the sound (volume) and try to hear it that day, or did they just rely on the visual? I'm not a doctor, but I'm sure that if they saw the heart beating then the teeny little heart was also making noise, even if they couldn't pick up on it yet or didn't turn the volume on to let you listen to it. But it definitely is a bummer that you weren't able to hear it that day. :(
At your 10-week appointment when you did hear the heartbeat, what type of machine was the doctor using? If it was external, then it's actually really cool if the doctor found baby's heartbeat that early! My doctor had a hard time locating my baby's heartbeat yesterday with the external Doppler at 12 weeks. Then, just as the doctor thought she just barely heard it, the baby moved (we could hear the sound of the movement) and the doctor had a hard time finding it again (luckily, she eventually did). The baby is still so tiny, and is nestled low, low, low in your pelvis.
I'm sure & I'll pray that your appointment on the 23rd will put your mind at ease! But I definitely can relate to worrying that something is wrong with my baby unbeknownst to me and I won't even have any clue until a doctor's appointment that is weeks away. The worrying is hard, and it's awful feeling like it's all out of my control.
I was recently chatting with my hair colorist about all this worrying (he's a father of 4), and I was about to say how glad I would be when I reached that 2nd trimester mark because then I could stop worrying, when I realized how silly that would probably sound to a parent (especially a parent whose oldest child is just entering his teenage years). I could picture my colorist responding to me with something like "Oh, bless your heart! The worrying has only just begun. You've got 18+ years of worrying to look forward to!" :D

Now I just have the rest of the weeks to worry about, lol. Does it ever stop?
Tonysweetie: Nope! It's part of being a parent, you worry. When I was pregnant with DD I would be terrified something was wrong with the baby, then feel okay at my appt when I heard the heartbeat. The next day I'd be terrified until my next appt. I had some relief once she started moving, but then was worried something might happen during labor & delivery. (I'm a worrier by nature, though) She'll be 3 in December and I still worry over every call from the preschool, every cry, every fall. And I'm so thrilled that I'm not feeling m/s anymore, but scared at the same time because I knew with the m/s that things must be okay with the baby, that he/she was in there. Now I won't know for 2 more weeks!
clothes
I have almost nothing. We weren't planning on TTC for a good 2+ more years, so when family & friends got pg, I gave them all my clothes and didn't bother to get them back. Now everything's so passed around I don't know who has what! I've bought a few things and am going shopping this weekend for some colder weather clothes (assuming that we ever get some cold weather around here!). DH & I are celebrating our anniversary next weekend and my #1 priority is finding a nice dress to wear to dinner.
ligament pain
None, thank goodness!

It seems everyone has heard their babys heartbeat and I've only seen it.My OB hasn't been able to pick up the h/b with the dopler yet. I've seen it beating twice (2 u/s) and the only reason I've heard it is the playback that they did during the second u/s. Seeing the heart beating is just as good as hearing it!
Ligament Pain - I didn't realize that that hip pain was considered ligament pain. I thought the painful stretching in the belly area was ligament pain and the hip pain was just due to loosening of the joints. Anyway, I had the hip pain for a week or so and now nothing. I know it's coming back though. For all the first timers, you've probably seen the "pregnant lady waddle". I always thought the waddle was just from the big belly, but (for me anyway) the waddle was because my hip joints hurt so badly after just a few minutes of walking. Seriously, I felt like my legs were just going to pop right out of their sockets and fall off sometimes (Ewww, gross!!).

Tonysweetie - I've only seen my baby's heartbeat on the u/s screen too. My doctor didn't seem concerned as it was flickering away at both appts. I wouldn't worry. Seems like doctors all have their own way of doing things!

Thank you everyone! You made me feel so much better. I didn't realize they could turn the volume up during an u/s to hear the heartbeat. My dr. tried using the external doppler over my belly. Now I feel loads better! So hopefully at my 14 week apt. she'll beable to pick it up then. :) I've had 2 U/S the first one was at 8 weeks and the heartbeat was 128 bpm and my 2nd U/S was at 9weeks and the babys heartbeat was at 160 bpm. So I guess I should be having good feelings instead of bad ones. Thanks girls!

Tonysweetie - when I had my U/S at 9 weeks for dating, they did not let me hear the heartbeat (which we did hear during PG#1) - got the visual instead. The U/S tech said that the Drs. had changed that procedure, since there was some evidence that suggested that early exposure could cause some problems. I did just hear the HB at my last appointment with the external doppler.... Sounds like everything is perfect!

Hi Mommies-To-Be
I'm sorry I have not been around lately. I have had somethings going on in my life. I just got the baby down, so now I am happy to be able to catch up! :)
Clothes : My mom and I just went shopping today. I told my husband that today was my beauty day. I had my hair done and went shopping! :) I was trying on my clothes from my last pregnancy and everything (as of right now) was too big. Plus my daughter was born in December so I had a variety of clothes. I got some great deals at Motherhood today. Its fun trying on maternity clothes again. I am going to have to check out JcPenny's and Old Navy. It sounds like some of you got some great deals.
Round Ligament Pain : Ouch! I have been having round ligament pain on my left side for two days. I forgot how bad it can hurt at times. With my last pregnancy I remember my pelvis hurting a lot for months. I am hoping that it will not hurt as bad this time. I hope everyone's pain starts to feel better very soon. Its amazing what the body does while your pregnant.
Headaches : Another not fun part of pregnancy. I have been having headaches off and on for a week or so. I'm trying to figure out if its from stress, hunger, or just pregnancy.
Flu Shot : I'm so glad that this question was asked. I am trying to decide if I should get a flu shot or not. My husband gets a flu shot each year. I am also trying to see if I should get my ten month old daughter a flu shot also. I am curious too see how everyone else feels about this.
Names : Just for fun I was wondering if anyone has started thinking about names?
I hope everyone has a great night.
Take care
Amy

Flu Shot: I don't plan on getting one. I've never had one and don't plan to start now.
Names: My husband and I have the boy names down to 2... either Carter or Parker. We also have the girl names down to 2 as well (although he really doesn't like one of them)... either Elise (call her Ellie) or Olive. What do you think? I haven't even started thinking about middle names yet, though!

Flu Shot: I doubt I'll get one. My dr's office offers it, but I know I won't take it.
Names: We've actually had them decided for a while now. DH gets to pick, since I picked Ava's name and he hated it. At least I gave him middle naming rights ;) So he's decided on Claire for a girl and James for a boy. I love them both. If it's a boy, I'll pick Brian as the middle name. I don't think it flows really well (James Brian), but it's my dad's name and I really want to use it. I've been thinking Elise for a middle name for Claire because I've always loved that name and figure DH wouldn't agree to it for a first name (btw, Married, it's the name I'd pick ;) ). So James Brian or Claire Elise (unless I change my mind, which if very likely).
Headaches: I had another yesterday. A friend suggested drinking orange juice and that really helped.

Flu Shots: If it's available to me, I'll probably get one. I didn't get one last year and got the flu. It was a disaster. Since I work with kids (am in a hotbed of germs), I think it's best.
Headaches:None so far, but I do drink a lot of fluids during the day.
Names: I think we're narrowed down for a boy-- Lincoln David or Doran David. For a girl, I think we're pretty set on the name Carolina. I'm not sure about a middle name yet. I'm considering Joy as it's the shortened form of DH's grandmother's name (Joyce). We have a hard time with names because we have a Hispanic last name (DH is Hispanic), and the WASPy names that I love just don't sound right with our last name. DS's name is Luka Alonso.

Names ~ I was looking before, but not seriously. We won't get serious til we know if it's a girl or a boy (although I'll have a backup just in case... it just won't be one that me and dh agree on)... it'll save some serious wanna-be fight, cause my taste and dh's... AGES APART... Middle names are easier... for a girl, will be Marie (all the girls in my family have the middle name Marie)...for a boy...we used dh's name for Nic... for this one, I'd like to use one of our dad's names (either their first or middle, I'm not picky...I would use dh's again, but his name is NOT a good middle name...)
Flu shots ~ Nope, not getting one. Not getting one for Nic (he gets enough shots, I'm not adding ANY unnecessary ones) I'm a sahm, he only sees kids that aren't (supposedly) sick...
Headaches ~ I am going today to get oj... cause they're hitting here big time. Part of my problem I think is that no matter what I drink, it makes me nauseous for an hour or two afterwards... Kim - I'll go back and look for it, but what was the name of that vanilla drink you found? I've got to find me some of that...

Flu Shots: My OB has recommended I get it but my Sinus/Asthma/Allergy Dr has suggested I wait until about December to do so. He wants me comfortably in the 2nd trimester before we do it. I'm at risk for all sorts of crap with my asthma and sinues. I've had the flu shot every year in September, this will be the first time I haven't.
Headaches: I still have the same one that I've had for days. Awful...
Names: We will either choose Michael Edward Jr. (or II, we haven't decided which one yet) or Kyle. I like Kyle but he doesn't love it. We're having a really hard time with the boy name but I'm glad that we have it narrowed down to two. For a girl we have always loved Meredith and if by some miracle this baby is a girl, we'll go with Meredith. Not sure about a middle name yet.
lauren f s I LOVE James but DH won't budge on it. If you have a boy I'll drool over his name!

Names
For those of you who like to check out popularity or get ideas, check out this website for name rankings by year:
http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/
Our 3 girl names we like best are all in the top 11: Ava, Sophia & Isabella. We have a very italian last name and Isabella (actually Bella) sounds great with it...but my close friend's daughter is Bella and DH thinks it is too wierd, LOL! I am actually leaning towards Ava. I liked Eva until Eva Longoria ended up everywhere I looked - so funny how someone IRL can just ruin a name for you.
I don't mind popular names. I mean, DH & I are Tom & Kim...can you get more common than that? ;)
As for boy names? No idea. I think its a girl anyway, so that's all we're thinking of at the moment. In my baby names bok I think I may have highlighted 3 boy names and 20 girl names when I was pg with DS...
Speaking of crazy, our son (after years of arguing and drama) is named after DH who is named after FIL. Well, a few weeks ago DH suggested we name our daughter a shortened version of my MIL's name. Ummmm...how about NO?
Hi we are Tom & Kim X. These are our parents, Tom & "MaryAnne" X. These are our kids Thomas & "Anne" X. We are SUPER original!
Needless to say, I vetod that immediately. Love MIL dearly, but that's crossing the border into Crazy Town.
Flu Shots
Will discuss next week. I have asthma and was very sick in my 1st trimester with DS, had to go to the ER one day because the flu caused an infection in my lungs and it was bad. Need to decide what's best, especially since with a toddler we are very social and these kids just pass germs around like trading cards.

Kim: I vote Ava ;). It's more popular than I realized, but I adore it. It was my grandmother's name and I think it's lovely. I think it is interesting to read the postings about the flu shot, because my ob and regular doctor told me I couldn't get one at all once I got pregnant. I think it is interesting that some of you are getting it and that your doctor's are willing to give it to you. I worry tremendously about not getting the shot because I am an elementary school teacher and talk about kids with germs...I can't tell you how many days I think about going in to teach while in a bubble. I can't think of any other way to keep myself germ/sickness free. I will have to ask my ob again and see if she reconsiders. Although, my dh had the flu shot last year and he got a terrible flu about 3 months later. He refuses to get the shot again. Oh well.
Hope you are all well. I have been terribly busy with work and unable to post, but I have been reading along. Hope to talk to you all soon. I have an appt. on October 23 for h/b/checkup and then my big 20 week u/s on November 9th. Yay, can't wait for that one.

Headaches I'd been ok but tonight got hit with one. Ugh. It probably doesn't help that I'm not eating well. I know I should but things just don't sound good. My current craving/indulgence is chicken flavored ramen. Ummm yeah starch and pure sodium is good for growing babies.
Kim You'll be happy to know, I'm still making up for your chocolate allergy. Need to get more pop tarts or maybe cookies. LOL
Flu shots I scheduled one for my next appointment. I'll be 15wk. I've never had it before but DS is super social and it seems safer. Can't imagine keeping up with him and being sick. He keeps me busy enough when I'm healthy.
Names Current ones include Rachael, Kelly, or Avery for a girl. Middle name will be Elaine after my grandmother, no negotiations on that. We're not as set on a boy. I like Logan but it reminds DH of the character on Gilmore Girls. Might use Michael as a middle name, after my brother. Used MIL's maiden name for DS's middle name so this time round, my family gets the honors.

Names.... Funny I just posted about this last night in my journal....
Although not 100% decided, the front runners are:
Girl: Jadyn Alexandra
Boy: Alexander Jon
(My Great Aunt Alice's given name is Alexandra...Jon and I just adore her and want to use her name).
Other names that I love, buy Jon vetoed:
Girls: Sophie/Sophia, Chloe, Addison
(Kim - I've always LOVED Isabella/Isabel, too. But for us, a close cousin named her middle girl Isobel....so the name is already taken! I always wanted to name my girl Isabelle Rose).
Boy: Noah (I adore this and it's my #1, but Jon flat out refused!)
I picked up a really cool name book last night called "The Baby Naming Wizard." Rather than boast 100,000+ names (most of which you wouldn't really consider), it narrows down to a few thousand that have real potential. The cool thing is the information on each name includes it's popularity....what it's rated right now, and when it peaked in popularity.
Info: http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Name-Wizard-Finding-Perfect/dp/0767917529/sr=1-1/qid=1160616821/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-3911629-5664934?ie=UTF8&s=books

Flu Shots - Probably will get one. Dr. recommended it with #1 and I did it... I can get run down with my job very easily (fairly physical - I walk 5-10 miles on an average day with LOTS of stairs involved), so I'll take any extra protection I can get!
Headaches - sshhhhh - my head doesn't know it's supposed to be hurting!
Clothes - bought a kick-a$$ pair of jeans at Old Navy last night.... Not quite ready to switch into maternity clothes yet though. Regular clothes are getting snug, but I probably have a couple weeks left.
Round Ligament Pain - my OB Nurse said that it's often worse the second time around - so far (knock on wood) I haven't had any issues. I had some during PG#1, but it wasn't bad.
Nausea - OK, so I had next-to-none during the first trimester....all of a sudden I feel sick! Seriously I've come close to losing it several times over the last few days....mostly when I'm in a car (motion induced). Great.

My current craving/indulgence is chicken flavored ramen.
OMG me too! Its one of the only things I can eat no matter how awful I feel. DH went out and got me 12-pack the other night. Now THAT'S love.
Kim You'll be happy to know, I'm still making up for your chocolate allergy. Need to get more pop tarts or maybe cookies. LOL
I knew you'd hold up your end of the bargain for me! ;) The other night I dreamt I was sucking this lovely fudgy chocolate off some small wafer-like cookies. OMG I didn't want to wake up...

wendstress: Were pretty much decided on Alexander for a boy as well.
Boy: Alexander Michael
Girl: Not sure yet, some we like are Alexa, Emma, Haley
I never realized deciding on names would be so difficult. It really is a big decision, lol. :D

Kimthebride, it's funny that you mention the Ava/Isabella/Sophia triad. A friend of mine IRL who is due the same day as me has a dd names Isabella and has decided on Ava if her next is a girl. Another friend with two dd's named them Ava and Sophia. DH and I were just commenting how on those three names go together so well. I could see how if you like one, you like all!
We're pretty much waiting until we know the sex before seriously discussing names. Some of my personal likes are Julianna, Charlotte, and Alexandra for girls, Andrew and Russell for boys, but we'll see.

Flu shot: I dont think I will get one. I've never had one, and I dont feel like experimenting with it now. :p
Names: We've discussed names A LOT. We like the following names:
Boys:
Jackson Henry
Ethan Henry
Mason Elliot
Brogan Elliot
(PS...Henry & Elliot are family names, so we figured we'd stick them in there somewhere!)
Girls:
Ashlyn
Reagan
Audrey
Madison

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Isabella. BUT, its too popular for me right now (and dh hates it -- and, dh's cousin named their daughter anna bella, called bella --blah!)..it's actually a family name(my side) though, and I've loved it for a long time... oh well (and, it would go great with our last name too)... I also love Alessandra and Julianna .. and while those two names aren't at the top of the list.. other forms of them are...ugh!! the dilemma!
Boys names are just as hard... my current fave is Salvatore Roberto (one from each dad), but I'm just not crazy about "sal" ... and we would not stick a kid with that long a name for every day use...
Question about fairness: My family is very close... we see each other AT LEAST once a week. Do Sunday dinner every week, etc. We don't see my il's as often.. (which never bothered them til Nic came along)... now they naturally (/sarcasm) feel like they get the short end of the stick... there are no dominic's in either family... nic's middle name is dh's name. Now, I'm leaning very strongly towards using my dad's middle name if not for his first name, then for his middle name (if this child is a boy). Do you think I'm asking for trouble? (To be fair, my family is all within 10 minutes...dh's is an hour -- but, even if it were reversed, I'm not sure it would change anything)
wendstress ~ I LOVE that book! I got it from the library, and will be getting it back out once we know what gender names to focus on... I love that it groups names by, if you know you love this name, check these others out...

Happy My reasoning with the names, luckily DH agrees, is his family gets the last name every time. So that said, I feel like it's my family's turn. I changed my last name when we got married so I'd like something from my side to be carried on in one form or another. Also, what about Roberto Salvatore? There are so many ways to shorten Roberto.
edited to add food info:
Just tried Morning Star's Tomato & Basil Pizza Burger. Yummy. Bonus that DS liked it too.

Names - Haven't even really talked about and I don't really feel like it yet. We had a name picked out before we even got pg (works for both a girl or a boy), but we're both having second thoughts about it now. I think we'll get more serious about making a decision once we know what baby's gender is.
----
So, I had my first 100% m/s free day yesterday and it was heavenly :D.
In other news, we got DH's blood test results back on the kell markers. As expected, his genetic markers are such that it is possible that the baby has a different Rhfactor than I do. I will be having an amnio on October 17. While I wish I didn't have to do it, I'm not worried about it either.

lil_nance: Wow that sounds yummy! :) I just ate a veggie sub from subway and it was soooo good!
diedra1027: I hope the amino goes well. I'll be thinking of you!
Speaking of family names my DH middle name is Michael which is also my FIL first name and we plan to use it in our boy's middle name (if it's a boy) and if we have a girl we will use my middle name. That way we carry over either side. We've always planned that since we were dating. :)
I'm having a headace today! I get them almost daily now. They aren't too bad where I want to lay down or anything but so far I've managed not to take anything for them. I think why I have one today though is b/c of stress. DH is about 2 hours away right now having his physical for the army. I'm super nervous and just sitting at home waiting for the phone call to let me know if he passed and he's swearing in or not. I was all okay with this a few days ago but today I'm having all kinds of mixed emotions. One minute I'm excited and happy for him and the next I'm nervous and scared and don't want him to do this. My main reason for being nervous is him getting deployed overseas especially with a baby on the way. YIKES! Good news though he is able to split up boot camp and training so he'll be leaving for boot in November (if he passes today) and will be back in February and won't go off to training until the baby is about 3 or 4 months old. So that is a HUGE relief for us! I'll update once he calls or comes home....pray it goes well! Have a great day girls! :)

Family Names: Ava was my grandmother's name. DH was adamately against it, not because it was hers, he just didn't like it. I was persistant though and gave him middle naming rights. This time around he likes James for a boy, after one of his uncles who practically raised him. I'm fine with this and my family could care less. I think that no matter what name you choose, somebody will find something to not like about it. Name the baby whatever you like and ignore whatever everyone else says.
diedra1027: I hoep the amnio goes well! I'm confused though, what are they testing? If the Rh factor is different, wouldn't you just get a shot? I'm Rh negative and had shots with Ava and am having them again this time.

I'm Rh negative and had shots with Ava and am having them again this time. Thanks! They are doing the amnio to see what blood type/Rh factor the baby has (and they are going to do all the genetic screening while they're at it). I'm curious about the shot thing myself, but there are a few different things about my situation. First of all, the Rh protein that is raising the red flag isn't one of the 'usual suspects'. Secondly, I'm actually Rh positive. I'm not sure if one or both of those are factors, but it's on my list of questions for the appointment.

Name Fairness
Happy1 you might be asking for trouble, but then again if they were reasonable about it they could be just grown up and let it be (insert sarcastic snort here). I do agree with lilnance in that all your kids will have DH's last name, so his family will be carried on like that for generations through Nic and his sons etc.
In my case, not only do I want my kid to have an original, not-named-after-anyone name (like me, the only one in my family to have her own original name!)...my son is named after DH & FIL who have the same name. If I named my next kid after his family, though my family wouldn't say anything I KNOW they would be hurt. Not nasty about it, but genuinely hurt by it. And I see DH's family a lot and mine rarely (though if they lived closer and had means/freedom to travel, I'm sure we'd see them more often).
Original Name
DH & I always liked Ryan for a girl or boy (ahem, 2nd boy  ) but we are both a bit stupid because in our last-trimester exhaustion we gave DS that as his middle name - so now we can't use it as our 2nd kid's first name!! Dumb dumb dumb.

Hopefully all goes well for you at your amnio - good luck!

Well DH is home, way early than I expected. He didn't pass his physical. He failed the color blindness test and his job selection is very limited so he has 15 days to research and sign otherwise he'll have to redo some tests. He isn't happy one bit. I'm so sad for him but maybe he'll find someone else he's rather do and still beable to join. I'll update when I know!

Hi All
I hope this message finds you all well.
Names: Silly me. I ask the question regarding names, and then I forget to post the names we are considering. As of right now, my DH and I like the names:
Girl: Audrey Isabel
Boy: Tanner Stephen (Stephen is my dad's name)
It's so hard to chose a name that we both like. My DH and I seem to have a hard time agreeing on names. When we chose our daughters name we still did not have a middle name until we were on the way to the hospital and decided we would name her Julia Emma.
Diedra1027: I wanted to let you know that I will be thinking of you when you have your amnio test. I hope that everything goes well.
Tonysweetie: I hope that everything works out with your husband and his job situation.
PugLover: I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that I will be praying for you and your family tonight.
Take Care

diedra1027 - I hope that everything goes well with your amnio.
Names - We started to talk about names, but we are having a really difficult time this time around. Hopefully we will be able to pick a name prior to brining our child home from the hospital! :) We just don't seem to agree on anything. And what is really bothering me (and I know that it shouldn't) is everyone else's opinion of the names that we are discussing. Please people!!! This isn't your kid. I am glad that we have 6.5 more months to discuss this.
ME: This is copied from my LJ on Monday!!!:
~*~The only good news about today was that I got to see my little one again through u/s. This morning I woke up really really dizzy. So bad, that I almost fell over and hit the ground while I was standing at the bathroom sink. Thankfully I was able to get ahold of the counter before I did. So Paul took Jack to daycare and I stayed home for the morning hoping that it would get better. It didn't. So I called the OB they scheduled me an appt. I got there at 11am and had an exam. The doctor sent me for an u/s because she couldn't find the HB (I am only 11w so it is still early) and then to the lab for some tests. She thought that I might be lacking something and she wanted to find out. This is where it all went downhill. While the tech was taking my blood I started to feel faint and I passed out. yeah me. She was only able to get half the blood that she needed to get for the panels that my OB wanted so I will have to go back again. yippee fun. I waited for an hour at the doctor for someone to come and pick me up, because I wasn't able to drive home alone.
It just hasn't been a good day. I am very happy that the baby is doing fine but I just want to feel good. AND I hate feeling dizzy. ~*~
So that is what my week has been like. I have been feeling so much better since Monday. The only problem that I am having recently is sleeping. I cannot get comfy in bed. It really stinks. I might need to break down and buy the sleeping pillow I saw at BRU last week.
The Round Ligament Pain is horrible too. I try to ignore it as much as possible but it seems like everytime I roll over in bed I feel like I am being split in two. ouchie ouchie
Sorry I haven't been around much. I am reading but work is killing me right now. I have so much to do and not enough hours to do it in. I promise to be around more over the next few months!
I hope that you all have a fantastic weekend. Full of energy and no sickies! :)

Hey Gang-
Puglover-Very sorry to hear about your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Happy Friday to everyone. I had my 16w appointment yesterday and all went well. Heard the heartbeat through the doppler...it was beating away between 130-160 which is a good sign. They drew blood for the AFP tests which I will get results for next week. Hopefully that goes well (fingers crossed!)
My OB also pretty much insisted on giving me a flu shot (I was fine with this...) so I got one. Figured she wouldn't give it if there was any concern at all about it affecting the baby. Plus I am VERY prone to getting sick-usually do once a season-so I was happy to have any ammo I could get to fight a potential cold/flu.
I have been feel pretty good this week. My only gripe is very painful lower back pain. It woke me up in the middle of the night on Wednesday and pretty much hasn't gone away. My doc said that it could be sciatica. Pout. It's very uncomfortable and is really disrupting my ability to get a good nights sleep. Anyone else suffering from this?
Have a great weekend!

Kim... I got some of that vanilla chai stuff...that stuff does help! And, i think it tastes kinda like eggnog :)
And... it never occurred to me that yea - baby does get dh's last name. That makes me feel better... it wouldn't have stopped me from using a name from my side of the family (my family just has better names...) but.. .I dont feel guilty at all anymore...
I am sooo in love with french onion soup right now... its terrible. I've always been into food, but this is bordering on obsession!

Totally! Mmmmmm....eggnog....
Pains
I get frustrated with my round ligament pain because it comes at the worst time for me, like when I am jumping up to stop my toddler from doing something dangerous or running to him when he's hurt himself.
I also get sciatica, but funny enough it was only in my 1st trimester with DS. Maybe the position of the uterus now, or something. I found what helps (a chiropractor helped me last time, and this trick was great) was doing the cat-cow position:
- get on your hands and knees ont he floor, arms shoulder width apart and knees right under the hips
- bow your head under to your chest, round your back and tuck your butt underneath...hold it for a few seconds
- then lift your head back up, arching your back and kind of lift your tailbone...hold for a few seconds
Do this routine for a minute or so a couple times a day and it helps.
As for sleeping, I love love love my Snoogle pillow. She is my best friend ever ;) . What bothers me the most at night is I get this dull pain in my hip joint. By using the Snoogle in the "S" position (versus the "C"), I support my neck, belly, and prop it between my knees and ankles. This makes me sooo comfy I sometimes don't even wake up to pee until I am at about bursting!

Hey everyone. Sorry I have not been in touch lately...work has been killing me, but I do keep up with reading the posts.
Puglover, I am so terribly sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you and dh.
herewego: My ob suggested a heating pad and it worked great. My back pain is slightly higher up than yours, but I use the heating pad a lot. I am standing on my feet all day or bending over to help the students with something and so I use it a lot at night when I get home. Try it.
annielynn: As for the dizzyness...I had it (still do sometimes) for days on end just a few weeks ago. My ob said it was probably a lack of iron. She told me to eat things high in iron and drink lots of water to keep hydrated. It should go away soon, but it's good that you went to the doctor right away. You can never been too careful and the blood results should show if you are low in iron or what. Keep us posted on how you are feeling and stay off your feet as much as possible so you don't fall.
As for me: Well, I have my next checkup appt. on the 23rd (seems like forever from now) and then I have my big u/s appt. on November 9th. I can't seem to wait for that...I wish it were right now. I am so anxious to see the baby again...we haven't seen it since I was 9 weeks. I don't feel much in the way of movement (although I am not sure I would know if I did), so I have no way of knowing that all is well with the baby. I just want to hear the baby's h/b at least. I am so paranoid. I of course have terribly achy bbs and my stomach is definitely getting bigger and harder, but I need to see or hear that baby to know for sure.
Anyway, my dh and I are off to the movies today. :) We haven't been to the movies in ages so I am excited about going and I figure we should do things like this while we still can. :) Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Food DH and I went out to dinner on Friday to celebrate our anniversary. First time that we've left DS with a sitter not family. It went well but let me tell you new mommies, leaving your kid is harder than I thought it would be. Anyhow, we went to The Melting Pot, a fondue restaurant, and had a wonderful yummy meal. Ever since then, I feel like a switch flipped. I'm ravenous. I finish eating and within an hour or so I'm starving. Luckily, I am eating a bit better. Still haven't given up the ramen and pop tarts ;) but now I'm supplementing them with "real" food.
Sleep Anyone else just not sleeping well? I feel like ever since this pregnancy began, I haven't slept more than 2-2 1/2hr at a time. It's really catching up with me.
Ugh, I just watched Cold Case. If you missed it, consider yourself lucky. I just can't watch these shows with little kids getting hurt or dying. They tear me up.
On a better note, I bought The Baby Name Wizard. I highly recommend it. I like it so much better than the baby name dictionaries. Plus, if you need a name dictionary, parenthood.com has a good one.

14 weeks
I’m so far behind! Haven’t had time to post in ages...
PugLover: I’m so, so sorry for your loss. We will keep you in our thoughts. Take care of yourself, okay?
Names: We have a few girls’ names picked out; still stuck on boys’ names. We like to choose several names and then wait until we “meet” the baby before officially choosing. That’s what we did with DS. We won’t be disclosing any of our potential names before the birth...can’t stand listening to everyone’s opinions (especially my overly-vocal relatives). Isn’t it funny how everyone has such strong opinions before the birth, but once the baby arrives and people finally meet him/her, no one ever voices a bad opinion about the name??
M/S: OMG, I really think I have finally turned a corner. I’m so happy I could cry. I still vomit and have bad moments every day, but my good moments are definitely starting to outnumber the bad. And I’m still on Zofran. But I can usually get by with only one, maybe two pills a day. The biggest difference I notice is in my pee. A few weeks ago I was peeing only twice a day (and that’s not healthy even for a non-pregnant person!). Now I’m peeing like a real pregnant woman – about every 45 minutes! :D
Dizziness: Oh yes. I had dizziness *really* bad during my last pregnancy, mostly just in the second trimester. (My OB said it’s because your blood vessels dilate so much more in the 2nd tri so all the blood rushes easily to your feet.) It was so bad I actually fainted on a campus tour at work (in front of numerous campus officials) and they had to send a golf cart to come get me. Oy! What helped me the most was wearing support stockings all the time. You don’t have to get the expensive medical ones; I just got the travel support socks from Magellan’s (http://www.magellans.com/store/Clothing_for_Women___SocksMU545?Args=). Also drink lots of water and eat protein. And don’t stand for long periods of time. Because I traveled so much for work, my doctor actually wrote me a note to use at the airport stating that I couldn’t stand for extended periods or wait in long lines. That was nice!
Flu shot: I won’t be getting one. Although the only time I’ve ever gotten the flu was when I was pregnant three years ago. But it was a very mild case, *nothing* compared to the M/S of the last three months. And I’m pretty sure I got it because I was traveling so much for work at the time (12 flights just during the month of November alone  ), and I know I picked up some nasty germs on the airplanes. I don’t think I’ll be as exposed to so many people this time around. (Keeping fingers crossed.) I’m still a little worried about me or DS picking up the flu this year, but I don’t think the flu vaccine will necessarily lessen my worries, so I’d rather not get it. My OB has never even mentioned anything about me getting it.
I guess that’s all for now! I’m just so happy that I’m finally feeling decent, I’m actually finally, for the first time, starting to feel pregnant and not just chronically sick. Yea! Sorry for the longwindedness...I don’t post often, so I guess I’m making up for lost time! : )

12 weeks today!
Thanks ladies!! I am feeling great. I haven't had an dizziness since last Monday. All of my m/s is gone (KNOCK ON WOOD!). Still tired, but I can still take naps to handle that. ;-)
New fun little "thing" - I am so hungry that I could eat a house except..... when I finally sit down with my plate of food I can only eat about 4 bites and I am full. I have gotten up from the table the last 3 nights with the worst tummy ache from eating too much food. I remember this happening when PG with my DS but I thought that I was further along and he was much bigger! Oh well. I really did want to eat the really juicy yummy hamburger this weekend. But I had to settle on just a couple of bites. pooooo

PugLover~I am so sorry for yuor loss......
Threadmistress: Can you change my due date to May 4th please? My doctor is going by that date, altho my u/s showed a due date of May 2nd...Why would they do that? Anyone know? I guess the doctor is just going by my LMP where as the u/s is going by my measurement?
Doctors appointments: November 10th & December 8th (big u/s) If the u/s shows 2 days ahead in December, I will go ahead and change my due date back again...sorry for all of the confusion!
My doctors appointment on Friday was amazing! It was our 1st appointment, so we werent expecting much, but my doctor is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SO HAPPY i was referred to a doctor instead of having to go to the maternity clinic!
Anyways, we got to see our baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was moving around, and then waved at us!!!!!!!!! We were both fighting back the tears. Its just so amazing to see when it all feels so surreal, KWIM?
Hope everyone is having a great day!

Hi everyone! Following along, but DS is going to wake up hungry and cranky from his nap any second, so not too many shout outs for now...
Had my OB appointment today, I'll be 12 fetal weeks tomorrow (14 OB weeks). Here's a summary:
- I gained back all the weight I lost in the 1st few weeks, be force-feeding myself. OB said to stop doing that, just focus on drinking so much water I need to pee all the time. Fine by me!
- Baby looks great, is measuring a few days older than it is which is fine by us! DS was the same way.
- Got my Rx refills for Zofran (yes, still nauseous!), Premesis prenatal (I ran out of my free samples) and some Tylenol with Codeine to keep on hand in case I get any more migraines. I hope not, but its better to be prepared.
- OB said that in the next 3 weeks my m/s will likely peak (oh joy) then drop drastically and go away. Though peaking will suck, I can't wait to feel normal again!
- Blood pressure was fine, as usual.
And here are a couple new pics of my wee one! My OB and DH are just soooooo funny. Baby's hand was fiddling around between its legs, meaning we couldn't peek to see if the sex was obvious yet. But both of them were like "hee hee hee definitely a boy if his hand is down there hee hee hee" . Honestly. Men!
No more pictures, please! ;)

With DS#1, the U/S and EDD based on LMP were 2 days apart. The Dr. said he won't changed the EDD based on LMP unless there is a 10-14 day discrepancy. HTH!

wendstress~Thank you! I guess that makes sense! And I supose it is just a guess to begin with, only 5% of babies actually come on the due date anyhow, right?
THANKS!:D

Sunshine: My dr. did the same thing. They changed my EDD then switched it back b/c it wasn't 10-14 day difference. So the baby technically I guess is about a week behind what my EDD is. Who the heck really knows? lol. I'm glad your apt. went well!
Kimthebride: Your bean looks great!
Feeling pretty well these days. I'm growing FAST! I'm already showing to the world already. I've gained about 6 lbs. so far and I swear if I hadn't already had an u/s there were two in there. I just feel huge! I need to work up the courage to post a belly shot. I've been taking them weekly so far.
I went shopping today and got 2 new tops. I got a sweater in the junior department just got it in an large and it's really long so I'm pretty sure it'll fit for a while. I also got an old navy maternity tank top in a shrimp color. I got it for like $3.99 YEA! I love good deals! I also got the sweather for like $10.00and some change. All I need now is some jeans. I'll be traveling up north for New Years to be in a wedding and I need jeans. All I have so far in capris but I can't find any jeans at a good price. Anyone know where I can find some maternity jeans for a decent price? Well I hope everyone continues to feel better!!! God Bless!!!

Quick question...I'm 12w6d based on my LMP EDD. That is the EDD my dr. is going by. Now does that mean I won't be past what they consider the safe "12 weeks" until the baby is 12 weeks or am I considered already past that? Does that make sense? lol. The baby is really 10w6d but my EDD is 12w6d so which one would be considered the lowered m/c rate me at 12 weeks or the baby? Also when does the 2nd trimester start? Thanks!!!
