juliemag Happy Birthday
gender bias People keep telling me I'm having a girl since I've been sicker this time. I think DS would be ok with either. A LOT of his friends are girls.
It's been a crazy weekend. Saturday we scored some great toys and tables for DS at a garage sale. Went to a fundraising dinner and won a door prize and the 50/50. Very exciting. Then Sunday, my MIL passed away. She had advanced Alzheimer's. It wasn't unexpected so everyone is doing ok but still I feel bad for DH. DS and I won't be going to the funeral we both have colds, it's a 5hr drive to the inlaws and I don't see DS sitting through the service regardless.
I'm still fighting off the cold I had last week. I had a horrendous headache and nausea tonight. I hope it doesn't happen again over the next few days while DH is gone. I actually got sick, did start to feel better after that. It's so hard being pregnant, sick, and trying to care for DS.

Gender Pressure
I'm not getting too much of this. Just one friend who really wants a girl. But I don't worry too much about "disappointing" her. I think the family is just so excited for the first grandbaby (at least on my side) that they don't care what it is.
Movement
I asked about movement a few days ago. I'm still not sure if/what I'm feeling. I guess I'm waiting for something really obvious and missing movement in the meantime? I don't know. Either way it will be reassuring to have the ultrasound on Friday and see the movement with my own eyes.
We ordered our crib today. Good thing because it had to be special ordered and will take 12-14 weeks. By then I'll be almost 8 months pregnant! But we're really excited about it. It's the first big purchase we've made. And we found it in the Baby Depot section of Burlington Coat Factory of all places! :)

Be careful with Baby Depot... they are TERRIBLE with returns. I know they're running a bunch of commercials about how they're return policy has changed... but don't let the delivery guy go before you KNOW it's in good shape and what you ordered...
Gender and family ~Ummm, yeah. But, not with family. All of dh's friends (who ALL have BOYS...) REALLY want us to have a girl. It's cute...but...we rarely see them, so its not a constant message...

Tonysweetie: I should have mentioned, you needed to have a "serious talk" with the baby prior to your appt ;). I did this with mine and he listened. Hopefully you'll get another u/s soon!
Herewego: I'd guess boy, but I'm terrible at guessing these things!
Gender Pressure: Didn't really have much. I know most people now say that it's perfect we're having a boy since we already have a girl, but nobody seemed to care much either way. Thank goodness!
SALE ALERT!!
All of the Halloween stuff at Target is 90% off! I found some magic wands for DD that only cost 29 cents! And I got 2 t-shirts for the baby to wear next year for 40 cents!! Also - they have boxes of Pampers Swaddlers (152 count) for $25! I grabbed a box of those as well.

Gender Pressure - Not yet, but based on last time some people let their true colors show once we find out. I still get angry when I think back on MIL's reaction to finding out we were having a girl. She immediately blurted out "Ohhhhhh...that's tooooooo bad. You can try again next time.".  . Actually, many people treated DH as if he must be in mourning over a daughter .

Wow! It took me forever to catch up on reading all the posts! It is so hard for me to get online these days. Sounds like everyone is doing well, I can't believe that we are in our 2nd Trimester already! We found out yesterday that we are having a GIRL!! Threw us both for a loop, we thought it was a boy since this pregnancy has been exactly like my last one....Neither of us really wanted one over the over, although now I am excited to have one of each!!! Can't wait to hear what everyone else is having, it is always interested to see if the month is a boy month or a girl month! Hope to be on here more often!!

Glad to hear the appt went well & your quad screen results were good. I get annoyed with the scales, because theirs will say one thing and mine says something totally different every time!

YAY for the positive appointment. I have been anxiously awaiting my big u/s for weeks and its only a few days before yours. We can be impatient together! :)

So sorry to hear about MIL. Even when you know its coming, its tough.
And I hear you on the struggles of being pg, sick and managing a toddler. Its just so hard!
pg_jess
You may already be having it but thinking its gas - movement is very subtle at first. But soon enough you'll be getting the heck kicked out of you, and its pretty fun!
Crib Delivery
ITA with happy1: ALWAYS check your crib before letting the delivery guys leave!! Ours was dropped off with my concierge and they literally dropped it. The box opened and pieces fell out, so they shoved them back in and taped the box closed. Ummm....not acceptable!! I was back & forth with BRU on this for ages, until we got all the furniture in and assembled. They actually assembled our changing table even with a big mark on the inside of it, so I complained and got money back. Be anal - it pays!
herewego
Ummm....boy!

I wish I knew that before I went to Target today! Boooo! My friend's son LOVES to dress up, so her mom bought him a box and a ton of costumes at Party City on clearance for playing with...its his Xmas gift. So cute.
Diedra
OMG! I can't believe she actually said that about Avery. Serisously, some people....
Congrats on the little girl montaukbea!
Nice bump, tonysweetie!
Craving
I woke up this morning at 5:30am (I have pregnancy insomnia) for the day after having a MAJOR craving dream: I was searching a mall for a cake, but they all had chocolate in them or were next to chocolate-frosted cakes. I was desperate, but in the end never got one!! So this afternoon I baked a white cake from the box, then frosted it with the fluffy white frosting, ate 2 pieces and threw the rest away.
Finally, a normal pregnancy craving! :D

Diedra ~OMG... that's all I have to say...just OMG.. and is your dh over it? Has he put aside his black for mourning yet? Ugh...HEH...somehow...someway...he's managed to make it through ;). It was such a crazy time, he didn't really seem to mind all the comments - I was the one coming unhinged about it. He was over the moon about having a girl right from the start, but I can't tell you how many times I heard this side of the conversation:
DH (on the phone): We just found out that the baby is a GIRL!!!!
<pause>
DH: Umm, no I'm actually really happy about it.
<pause>
DH: No really. I was hoping for a girl. I've been sure that the baby was a girl right from the start!
ME:<FUMING MAD><steam pouring out of my ears>
What made it more frustrating for me was that Avery was the first girl born on DH's side of the family in two generations. They of all people should have been excited about bringing a little girl into the fold!

diedra1027: Whoa! That is all I have to say....I'm afraid my MIL would react the same say if this ends up being a girl.
We have movement!!!! I thought I was feeling things last week but wasn't sure, today I called it. Me and DH were laying on the couch cuddling and all of sudden I felt major movement, for about 15 minutes or so! I'm so unbelieveably happy about it too!!!

tonysweetie - how cool that you are feeling movement! Isn't it the best!? Oh, and I'm sorry you couldn't find out the gender the other day - I was all excited for you guys too! Hopefully the little one will spread 'em next time! Oh - cute belly too! I'm guessing boy!
married - I like the look of those round cribs, however since they arent convertible to toddler bed and to adult bed I dont find them as practical as some of the other conversion cribs. Plus, I imagine it's tricky to find bedding for those, no?
montaukbea - congrats on your girl!
herewego - adorable belly! I'll have to guess boy for you too!

round cribs ~ I LOVE the way they look too... but, would say he11 NO unless you have money to burn or a sewer in the family (the bedding for those is crazy! and, mattresses aren't cheap either) ... And... when we planned out what pieces we wanted and where we wanted them...well, a rectangle crib fit our plan better (I actually pieced together newspaper to fit the pieces in the room so we could figure things out)
kimthebride
11-08-2006, 08:02 AM
Round Crib
I really liked the idea at first, and DH was down with it....but in the end I am really glad we went with a rectangular. For a few reasons:
- Fit the layout of the room better
- Less expensive
- Rectangulars convert well to toddler beds
- If you have a "leaker" (a kid who has explosive poops and leaks no matter what diaper you put him/her in) you will need to buy a lot of sheet and might want to do to layering thing to save time during midnight sheet changes (sheet, sheet protector, clean sheet, sheet protector, etc). Having a standard crib makes this easier and cheaper
- How the hell do you change a round sheet while only getting 2 hours of sleep at a time? ;) I just pictured myself running in circles around the crib as it kept slipping off....
This Sucks
I think I will actually stop complaining about the constant nausea, since I'd rather have that than the blinding headaches. I have had a headache for about 2 days straight now...and it goes from subtle pain to all-out I-can't-open-my-eyes horrible, unimaginable pain. From a stabbing at the back of my neck to a pounding in my temples and forehead. Arrrrghhh!!! I just want a reprieve....I was up from 12-1am this morning taking a hot shower and laying on the livingroom floor on a warm damp towel rolled under a heating pad trying to ease the neck pain and make my headache subside enough so I could sleep. Oh, and trying not to vomit at the same time.
Good times.

11-08-2006, 08:19 AM
Oh Kim I feel your pain. I have been having those horrible headaches for about a week now. And there is nothing that I can do to make the pain go away. Oh the joys huh?!
I feel the same way about the Round cribs as the others do. Great look! Love the idea. But the bedding is just outrageous for it. And I just wouldn't have fit in the nursery that we have. It is a small room and it wouldn't butt up against the wall like his rectangular crib does. Cute idea though.
Tonysweetie - YEAH for movement. Isn't it the greatest!? Cute baby belly too.
Montkaubea - Congratulations on your baby girl! So exciting. I think that I am ready to have one of each. ;)
Diedra - That is just shocking to think that your MIL was that dissapointed. She doens't treat her granddaughter any different does she?
lauren - I wonder if my Target still has some stuff left??! I love after the Holiday clearance at tarjay!
Tonysweetie
11-08-2006, 08:34 AM
Headaches: Oh yes me too! Although not nearly as bad as you described Kim but I have them frequently and so far I've managed to sleep them off w/o having to take anything. I notice if I get them during the night I wake up with them too. I've tried drinking soda to make them go away, it does help but not make it go away completely.
Round Crib: I think they are way cute but I think I'll stick to a regular one for the reasons already said. I don't think I've ever seen round bedding in the stores before. Although I haven't really looked that much either.

11-08-2006, 08:47 AM
Round beds: I agree with everyone else. They're beautiful, but not practical for us. DD's bed was a convertible that she used until just a few months ago when we moved her to a twin bed. Now it's ready adn waiting for our little man. Beds can be awfully pricey and I'd rather use my money on one that will last several years.
Kim: I'm so sorry about the headache! I had those for about a week and they were awful. I tried to take breaks and get outside for 5-10 minutes and found that a little fresh air really helped.
Diedre: I cannot believe your IL's reacted that way! I'm so sorry and hope they are more mature this time around.
Montkaubea: Congrats on the little girl!!
Tonysweetie: Yea for feeling the little one!! Where did you feel the movement? This is my new theory - boys move low. Maybe it's just mine, but when I was pg with DD she was always bumping around near my belly button area. (And I carried her high) But my little man is low and moves around the waistline of my pants. Based on your pic, I'd say boy ;)
Annie: Go check your Target out! The one by our house didn't have much at all, but the one by my work had tons of goodies. And really, it's worth the trip to check it out when everything's 90% off! They had some baby costumes and onesies, too, but nothing that would fit at mine.

Diedra - That is just shocking to think that your MIL was that dissapointed. She doens't treat her granddaughter any different does she?Thankfully, no. MIL is just one of those people who lets TOTALLY stupid comments leave her mouth without thinking about it. In fairness (sort of) to her, my DH is really into baseball (i.e. coaching 1 or 2 teams every season, season tickets to the Mariners, etc). She (and almost everyone else) just assumed that he would be itching for a boy to play baseball with, so I think she just responded to the news as if she already knew how DH felt. Unfortunately, she assumed incorrectly!

Thanks for the advice, ladies! I hadn't even thought about the price of bedding. That's a good call! I guess we will stick with the rectangular beds. I'm having a difficult time finding one I really like, though! :(

lauren f s: Last week when I had thought I felt movement it was right in the belly button. Yesterday and today have both been just below it and some on my left side area. So who really knows? lol. Everyone is guessing boy, I had a dream last night it was a boy but had a dream last week it was a girl. So frustrating! lol.
Married: You'll figure it out, I'm in the same boat as you. I've been sorta looking around but haven't found that right one just yet.
Nursery: When is everyone going to start working on theirs? Right now the babys room is DH office. Were getting a new desk next week for the computer that were setting up in the dining room. Once we move the computer out we'll start working on cleaning out the closet and stuff. I'm super excited! I wish we could paint the room but since we live an apartment were not allowed. Poo! I'm so anxious to get started. My Mom keeps telling me that I can bet on getting baby things for Christmas so they need places to go. MIL has already gotten the dresser for the babys room, well it's a used set DH had has a kid and were going to restain it. We already have our changing table as well that is a pass down. So all we need is a crib. Oh we already have our rocker that my MIL is giving us. Since we might not be finding out what this little one is I'm trying to decide on some themes here are some I like so far....

married ~ I had a hard time finding the perfect crib too... I finally found it at one of those baby boutiques (suprisingly not as expensive as you'd think...more than MOST at bru tho not all) ...and it was the ONLY place I saw it. (And, I checked at least 4 baby megastores and maybe 10-20 boutiques... so take your time, look around... you'll find it somewhere...
:)

Married: Definitely take the time to shop around and you'll eventually find something you love. :)
Nursery: We're moving to a house (yea!!!) at the end of December, so we won't be doing anything until then. I have all the furniture we'll need, though I think I'd like to get a 2nd dresser. DD and the baby will share a room, so may main concern is making it not too girly or too boyish. I'm planning on a garden-type theme. DD's bedding is green, yellow, and ivory with dragonflies and I've found bedding for the baby that's the same colors, with bumblebees. Then I'll just need the little accent touches and we'll be all set.
BTW, Tonysweetie, I love the first choice you posted.

11-08-2006, 01:05 PM
round cribs ditto to what others have said. Also having a rectangular crib against the wall gives them one less side to try to climb out of when they get older.
Montkaubea Congrats on your girl
Kim sorry to hear you're still not feeling well. I've only had one headache so far. But it was bad enough I did throw up. yuk. My friends keep saying it's a girl because I'm sick and moody this time. Fingers crossed.
Tonysweetie I like all your choices. We did a bear theme for our nursery which we will reuse this time. I really like the bugs though, they are adorable.
movement Thought I felt something at 15wk but nothing since then. Of course my next appt. isn't until after Thanksgiving. I'm really hoping for some movement as reassurance that everything is ok.

Nursery - We are going to attempt to recreate this look (from pottery barn) as best as we can.
http://pics.livejournal.com/juliemag/pic/0008417f
I put the bedding & mobile on my registry. And we are going to paint in this color scheme and lay down some pergo floors in the baby's room. Right now it's our office, so there will be quite a bit of work to do. My parents said they would buy us a crib. And DH is building some white built in shelves that we'll put wicker baskets on. We dont have a closet for the baby, so we'll put his clothes in baskets and dresser drawers. We were given two white wood dressers from a family friend - one will be used as a changing table, and the other we still have to find a place for. I have an upholstered rocker that was given to us that I'm going to try to recover. DH has his doubts I think, but I'm going to TRY. Can't hurt right?
kimthebride - I've had those exact headaches myself. They seemed to have been the worst around 15-17 weeks. I only had one this week and it wasn't too bad. I hope they pass for you soon.

juliemag, I love that nursery from PB and was admiring it in case we were having a boy. I think it would be very easy to recreate.
Tonysweetie, cute bedding! I think if you played up the blues and greens in the Precious Moments one it would feel more masculine.
Headaches - None for me, but I'm still having bouts of nausea. It's nothing as bad as some of you have, but every day around 9:30 I feel queasy and occasionally get sick (once while actually driving). This is extremely different from last pregnancy when sickness ended right at 13 weeks.
Nursery - We just moved into our new house (16 months in the making!!) and have had the new baby's room painted lavender. We're going to use DD's old bedding and goodies (really it's just her room decor because the dumb quilt, bumpers, diaper hanger, etc were useless). For DD's room, we painted it pink and will be doing her big girl room with Pottery Barn's island girl bedding.

Sunshine - I LOVE THAT SET!!! It's been around for a couple of years, and and I desperately wanted it for DS#1. Problem was, the carpeting in his room was pink (I hate it, but we bought it that way and it is in good shape), so we couldn't figure out how to make that set work in a pink setting!
We used Classic Pooh from Target first time around, and will more than likely re-use it for #2. We'll probably move into a new house when DC#2 is 9-12 months old, so then we'll do a new room. In fact, here is what our nursery looks like now:

Congrats ali on your baby Girl!!
Cribs - I found the Baby Bargains book very helpful in pointing me in the right direction in terms of cribs (and strollers and car seats). We ended up going with their "Best" recommendation - one of the Child Craft convertible cribs, although I just checked their website and they don't seem to be carrying the particular model that we have anymore. We did have to special order it and it took like 8 weeks to arrive, so I think it is very wise to get cracking on a crib decision very soon!
Bedding - Our big u/s is next week, so I haven't put much thought into it. I do love a few of the custom sets from www.javisdavis.com. This one is currently my favorite (and I suppose it is pretty unisex!!):

Happy Friday for me. My hubby and I have taken tomorrow off to celebrate our DS 2nd birthday. So exciting. I keep thinking back to what I was doing at this time 2 years ago. I cannot believe how fast the time has gone.
I love all the bedding and crib ideas you ladies have. You will have beautiful nurseries. #2 will be moving into our DS nursery and he will be moving up to a BB room. I was going to post a couple of pics of the nursery but photobucket doesn't want to log in for me. I will come back later and post them.

Married: I love that set! So I take it you've decided to find out the sex then? I think were actually going to let this baby be a surprise since we didn't get to see the goods at our last U/S unless my Dr. miraclely schedules us another one and insurance pays for it.
annielynn: Happy 2nd Birthday to your DS! How fun!
Last night my old boss called me to let me know that her daughter found out yesterday that they are having a baby girl. Her daugther is the same age as me (we graduated HS together) and she is only 12 weeks along and they know the sex! How come at 16 weeks I couldn't know!!!!! HUMPH! lol. I'm happy for her really but I wanna know....Okay my whine is over now! hehe
This weekend should be fun, tonight I'm going to a dinner thing for DH work, tomorrow is our 5 year "dating" anniversary so were going out to dinner and DH is taking me shoppnig since my birthday is on Saturday. He said I could get what I wanted so I'm thinking about getting something baby related. He REALLY wants one of those carriers that the fits on like a backpack but the baby is on the front like this....

ali - congrats on your girl!!!
deidra - I LOVE the bedding from javis davis... I didnt realize they carried an in stock section - that set is beautiful!
Married - I love that crib, one of the ones that I picked looks almost identical to that. Very nice!
annielynn - Happy friday!! And Happy 2nd birthday to your DS! That's so nice you guys are taking time off to celebrate!
tonysweetie - I love baby carriers too! Have you checked out the baby carrier & sling thread in the Parenting section? There are tons of great sites listed on the first page!

tonysweetie - for DC#1 I had an "Over the shoulder baby holder (http://www.otsbh.com/) and a Baby Bjorn.
I never got comfortable with the sling carrier, but both DH and I used the Baby Bjorn like crazy! It was actually a hand-me-down, so I'm thinking of getting one of the new ones with better back support for DC#2.
Ditto to what Juliemag said - check out the baby carrier thread and see what worked for everyone. I got the sling carrier at the recommendation of a friend who said it was all she used - she also gave us the Baby Bjorn and it was basically brand new....... I didn't really care for the sling, and the Baby Bjorn was great for us.
Cribs - if any of you have a Baby Depot, don't forget to check out their cribs. We started looking at Babies R Us, and I was quite disappointed and didn't really care for anything. One trip to Baby Depot and I had a tough time narrowing it down!

deidra ~ That didn't even look like a crib to me at first...NICE bumper, very plush and comfy looking. And yeah, pretty neutral :)

Tonysweetie~We are buying it at Sears. It isnt available in store here so we are buying it online.
BUT, I know in the US there are ALOT more online stores you can buy from. Shipping is just ridiculous at most of these place to ship to Canada.
But if you google "Kidsline Zanzibar" you will find many online stores!
The 6 peice set runs for just under $200...I think $189ish.
wendstress~Which makes me love it even more b/c it is usually on sale! YAY! LOL! We are pretty lucky b/c we have a beigish color carpet so it should work out fine!
I LOVE your crib!
ali ohli~CONGRATULATIONS on your little girl!!!!! I have a feeling this will happen to us as well! Only 4 more weeks for us to wait!
Married~I LOVE LOVE the black crib set! I picked one out VERY SIMILAR at Sears....but we decided to go with something else...:p
Well, tomorrow is my 2nd appointment! And then 4 weeks until the big u/s! I remember feeling like it was taking forever for my 1st appointment to get here and now my 2nd is tomorrow! We should get to see the little one again tomorrow! I cant wait!
Hope everyone is well!

zanzibar bedding I'm pretty sure I've seen this stuff everywhere. Babies R Us and Baby Depot both carry it. It's a pretty popular line. The BRU stores around me carry the bedding, the bassinet, the high chair, the pack and play, the whole nine yards, all zanzibar. I love that set.
I've decided we're in trouble if we're having a girl because I have yet to find any girl bedding that I like. But at the same time, we're in trouble if it's a boy because I LOVE all of the boy bedding and won't be able to make a decision. :)
cribs I second Wendstress's reminder about the Baby Depot. Their prices are much more reasonable. But I'm glad we didn't wait too much longer because our special ordered crib is going to take 12-14 weeks to arrive.
big ultrasound...is tomorrow morning! Can't wait!!!

I had by OB appt today and everything was great. I've only gained .8 lbs this pregnancy so far, which really surprises me. I gained 60+ and 40+ with both of my others. The Dr isn't concerned and the baby is measuring right at 18 weeks so i'll take it. Granted, I have a few spare lbs around and i'm sure i'll make up some ground through the holidays. I just got over a week long stomach bug so i'm sure that didn't help either.
Next appt is Dec 6 @ 11:15. We have our "big" u/s on 11/21, less than two weeks from now!
tonysweetie For #2 I had a baby bjorn and I used it all the time. I also had a Kangaroo Korner Adjustable Cotton Pouch that I just loved, especially when the baby was really small.

This time, I'm going to pick up a Kozy Carrier based on a good friend's recommendation.

Tonysweetie: Yes, we're going to go ahead and find out the sex. If the baby doesn't cooperate on that date and we can't find out, then that will be okay too... we'll just have a surprise! :)
I had to call today and reschedule my appointments. My family is wanting to come down for my ultrasound and that date I had scheduled just didn't work. The new appointment (combined of both my monthly checkup and my ultrasound) is scheduled for Tuesday, December 12th @ 3pm. It means I have to wait a little longer to find out, but it will be okay. :)

Married: The longer you have to wait, the easier it'll be to see the sex ;). I was 24-ish weeks when we found out with DD. The wait was awful, but there was no way we could miss that she was a girl. Good luck!

michael's bride - I was also considering getting a pouch and a kozy carrier. Although I really had a hard time deciding between a Kozy and a babyhawk (because the designs are TOO CUTE!) - but in the end I think I'll end up with a Kozy. For the pouch, is the one you posted a KK adjustable pouch? that is CUTE! The only ones I'd really seen were the hotslings, which I love. But I like the idea of it being adjustable. :)
Looks like we are going to be a busy thread in the next couple days with all these big ultrasounds coming up!! Can't wait to find out what everyone is having!!
kimthebride

I have had a couple very bad days, so I don't think I can quite catch up on all the shout-outs (busy thread these days!)....but here we go:
Baby Carriers
With DS I had the Snugli (awful!), Nojo Sling (DS hated it!), Ultimate Baby Wrap (good until about 15lbs) and finally the Baby Bjorn Active Carrier.
I looooooooooooooved the BBAC! If you adjust it correctly, you have zero back pain no matter how long you carry the little one. It goes from 8lbs-26lbs so you have a nice long stretch of use. I know there are some concerns about having baby's weight on his hips for long periods in it, but honestly DS never has had a problem, and we had him checked regularly.
This time I am going to also get a Hotsling (www.hotslings.com) and a custom pouch sling from Funky Giraffe (www.funkygiraffe.com). I didn't like ring slings, so I think I'll like the custom-sized ones better. If DC#2 likes it, I'd prefer to use a sling for the first few months or so (rather than the Bjorn) since it seems easier to sleep in. We'll see.
Cribs
DH picked out DS's furniture, and he has great taste ;). Ours was from BRU - though JC Penney has a great selection or high quality pieces at really, really reasonable prices. Check out the latest Baby Bargains on them.
Bedding
We never used anything but the sheets for DS, so I think we'll just pick up some new sheets and another Breathable Mesh Bumper whatever the gender. When we move into a house (whether before or after baby comes!) we'll decorate his/her room but nothing super theme-y.
ali
Congrats on the girl!
Juliemag
Love that room.....ooooooohhhhh....the PBK catalogue was a very dangerous thing in my home when I was pg with DS. DH would toss it striaght into the trash when it came in, so we wouldn't go broke, lol.

Juliemag Its an adjustable cotton pouch. They also have fleece, but we live in FL so it made sense for me to get something lighter. I really LOVED it when DS was really little. I don't use it anymore (at 16 months) but I know I could.

Hey Ladies-
Found out this morning that we are having a BOY! DH and I are both overjoyed...in fact DH is walking around thumping his chest like Tarzan. What is it with men when they find out they made a boy?
Anyway, the u/s this morning was amazing and everything looked really good with the baby. We could see so many wonderful details, and we also got to see him open and close his mouth which was really neat.
I'm excited to finally be able to refer to the baby as "he" and to begin shopping for all things baby boy!

Dangit, herewego! You're not supposed to disprove my theory! :p Was it unexplained spotting?
herewego
11-09-2006, 03:06 PM
Tosha-Yep, spotting was unexplained. It was always pretty brownish-extended from 5-9wks on and off, so it was definitely way more than implantation spotting. Then, at 12w (on the morning of our nuchal u/s actually) I had a HUGE bleed, like AF. So scary. They never saw a subchorionic clot or anything like that, so it went unexplained. No bleeding since then though-knock wood. :)

Congrats to those of you who found what you're having! So far, we're fairly even in terms of gender, which seems strange to me. At any rate, I envy all of you who are finding out now. I hate the waiting. My students were asking me today when I'll find out out. :)
I'm also a tad jealous at all of you first-timers who are getting to decorate nurseries. We're aplnning os using all of DS's old stuff (well, not technically old since it's still currently in use ;) ), but because DH and I were trying to be fairly budget minded, I didn't get to do all of the really neat things I wanted to do.
Things here are going well. I think I'm starting to notice movements, but I'm not sure. With DS, I didn't feel anything definitive until something like 25-26 weeks. I think I'm in tune with my body, but I mistook a lot of early movements for gas/bowel things. I might be doing this again.
Appointments:
OB: December 4th
Big u/s: December 4th
Only three weeks now.

OK I'm going to make life easy and just say DITTO to what Myshel posted up until appointment dates. I'm making up for not redoing the nursery by planning DS's big boy room and remodeling our main bath.
I'm finally starting to feel better. It's so nice to feel that the hormones/emotions are returning to "normal". Of course I mentioned that to a mom who had #2 in Sept. and she just laughed and said to wait. Apparently they do return. Woopee.

I apologize that I have not been posting in a while...work has been mad. Anyway, I have been keeping up with reading the postings, I just haven't had time to post myself. HOWEVER, today was the 20 week u/s and I have some news...My dh and I are having a GIRL. We were on team green, but at the last minute we decided to find out. So, put me down for team pink now. I have included an u/s pic from today. Her mouth is wide open on it. It is just a picture of her head and part of her upper body. She was facing my back so it was hard to get pictures. Maybe next time. She is weighing in at 11oz so far. I am still due sometime in late March, but as you RO's know...it could be anytime...March or the beginning of April. The baby will decide for herself. I do hope everyone is doing well. I am thrilled right now to know that the baby is doing great and showed no genetic markers at all. I am relieved. We were surprised to find out it was a girl though...we both thought for sure it was a boy. We are thrilled either way and now we only have to argue about girl names. Talk to you all soon.

Congrats ieducate on your little girl! She looks great :)
Well, I fell down the stairs today. Not a whole flight, thank goodness, but the bottom 2 stairs while I was carrying my 28lb DD. I didn't drop her but I did twist my ankle something awful. I can't even walk on it at this point and am reduced to crawling around the house. I only hope it feels better in the morning.
We had our big ultrasound today (tripped on my way to it, actually) and it was confirmed by the nurse and doc individually that we're having a girl. And it was very very obvious!! Everything else looks great. I lost some innocence about the big ultrasound with my last pregnancy when they found the heart spots (which thankfully turned out to be nothing). So I went into this appointment with some trepidation. Everything looked just fine! Baby is 9oz and is measuring right on with our due date of April 9. HB was 147 bpm. We got some great photos (their standard technology at this place is 3d) but I must go ice my ankle and will hopefully upload pics later.

Can my due date be changed to May 2nd please?
Also, my next appointment is December 15th, a week after my big u/s:D
The doctors appointment today went AWESOME!!!! My blood tests all came back great. BP and Weight was good. And then we got to hear baby's heartbeat which sounded so nice:D DH now wants to buy or rent a doppler:D So I have to look into that.....not sure where to do that in Canada.
Hearteat was 148.
Then he did the internal exam which was oh so fun  , DH actually left the room for that:p But he said everythingl ooked and felt fine, cervix is completely closed and whatever.........
Then I went for more blood work. We are getting the screening tests done.
So yah. My day was GREAT!
Went out last night and bought a travel system. We got the Eddie Bauer Travel System. The thing is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We got it for over $100 less b/c of the discounts we get with our registry.
We also ordered our crib, which we are paying over $100 less for it, b/c of the discounts as well! Gotta love that!
Anyways, I have written a book here. Hope everyone is doing GREAT!

We had the big ultrasound this morning and I cried through almost the whole thing. We saw it was a boy right away. (I didn't post what we're calling the "money shot.") All the vitals were in place and working as they should be. It was absolutely amazing. I measured just where they said I was, and my due date is right on (April 4th).
Calling everyone to tell them the sex was just as much fun as calling everyone to tell them we were pregnant!
It's been an incredible day.

My new favorite snack: corn chips and Newman's Own salsa. Yum!!!
Anyone else feel like they aren't gaining much weight or popping yet? I know, I know, I shouldn't complain. Yes, I've gained some weight and I am wearing transition or maternity pants. Given this is #2, I thought I'd be in maternity all the time by now. I'm at the time between appointments where you worry about everything. Not feeling movement for sure yet so I just worry about everything being ok.

Had an appt. today, my dr. laughed and said I was "boring!". I didn't have any questions/concerns, and I feel really good right now. She said it's nice to have some easy patients every now and then, and felt like we should just chat a few minutes since my appt. was so short:) Anyway, h/b was 150 and everything seems to be going good!
Big u/s is Nov. 17
slings/carriers Best thing to do is to try a bunch out! A local baby store has a sling class, and DH and I went before we had DD. It was nice to try on different slings, altho it is a bit different once you have a real baby in there. I have a ring sling, mei tai, hip carrier (all 3 of those made for me by Nancy at www.rosiebaby.com), and a Kangaroo fleece pouch. My DH loved the mei tai, that was really the only one he used, and he used it just about every day for a while, DD loved to be carried! The ring sling took a while to get used to, but we did eventually get it. I used the Kangaroo more last winter, worked great for 8-15 month old I thought. I didn't get a chance to use my hip carrier much since I found out I was pg shortly after getting it.
I would like to try a mobi wrap this time, I remember from the class how comfy those were.
Bedding I am so envious of all the cute bedding being posted!! Baby #2 will get DD's room, we have the Pottery Barn Alphabet Soup bedding in there. http://i15.ebayimg.com/03/i/08/77/94/ac_2.JPG
I still really like the bedding, and we did a ton of work painting and stenciling in the room, so the baby is going to get that. Now to find bedding/colors for DD's new room! We haven't found anything yet, still searching. But we need to get on it soon so we can get started.

Sounds like everyone is doing great these days.
I am somewhat disappointed with myself for finding out the gender. I don't know why, but now I wish it had still been a surprise. I feel like I spoiled it for myself. Oh well. I am very happy about having a little girl, but for some reason I feel disappointed in actually knowing. My dh on the other hand is thrilled. He LOVES knowing. My mother is pretty happy too. She is now trying to guess the names we were going to use for a boy, even though dh won't let me tell her in case we use them on our next kid. Ha, next kid, I am barely making it through this one and the family is already talking about another one.
Anyway, Sunni76, My sister is buying me a mobi wrap for this baby. She swears by it. It honestly looks really difficult to figure out, but she promises to come and teach me how to use it. They come in some really cool colors too. I have included a link to the site for those who have no idea what I am talking about.

I am off to head back to sleep. I got up to use the bathroom and decided to take some time to catch up on postings. :) My next appt. is November 20th for just a check-up/measurement. I don't know when we will get to see the baby again.
BTW, pg_jess: great picture. Mine was just of the head so it wasn't that interesting. :( I am still happy to have it though. :)

PgJess: Congratulations!!!
Last night DH and went to Target b/c they sent me a bunch of coupons for making a baby registry with them so I bought a lot of stuff. We got our bedding set. I can't find a picture of it online. We got an animal bedding set, I got the quilt, 2 crib sheets, and a fleece blanket. I did not get the bumper. I'm still undecided about that. I got 2 packs of diapers, a bottle, and a 5 pack of Gerber white onsies for 0-3 months. All of that for 66 bucks! I was VERY proud of our buy, lol. Thanks to the coupons. This isn't our bedding set but it looks very much like this....

I had The Ultimate Baby Wrap which is very similar to a Moby Wrap, and though at first it just looks like a HUGE ace bandage ;) the instructions were very clear and after 2 tries I had it down. So I'm sure you will do just fine!
Its so exciting to see everyone finding out the sex and posting new u/s pics. pg_jess & ieducate - so cute! I haven't been as excited with this pregnancy as I was with #1 due to being nauseous and exhausted and the ehadaches, but I am really hoping in a couple weeks when we find out the sex and ***hopefully*** I am feeling better it will become more fun for me.
Popping & Weight
Nancy, other than being due date twins I'm not seeing much in common :p . You'd think being tall I'd show later, but when people ask how far along I am and I say "3 1/5 months" I get a lot of  - expressions and "OMG!"'s. So I just tell them I make 'em long & lean ;).
I swear I'll get a new belly pic on Tuesday to show you. I look way further along than I am.
As for weight, I got so scared of having to go to the hospital I have been force-feeding myself and am now 3lbs over my pre-preg weight finally! I gained back the weight I lost in the beginning....it helped that I can't stomach most of the healthy foods I normally eat, just starches and fatty things. I know its nuts, but I'd rather gain a few too many lbs and work them off than a few too few.
Home News
So yesterday the realtor came by to pick up the documents, and our palce officially goes on the market on Tuesday. Yikes!
Then we go away for 9 days, and the day we leave she holds a big Open House and then will spend that entire 1st week bringing people in and letting other realtors show it. We're doing a big push to try to get out before I have this kid, though we're not going anywhere unless we get the $$ we want for it.
Everyone send happy home-selling vibes, please! I can't see having another kid in this apartment, considering we already have to share our bedroom with our 17mo..akk!
Oh, and my realtor on the other end recently set me a bunch of beauuuuuutiful homes that totally meet our criteria that just went on the market. So if we do (miraculously) get a buyer over the next few weeks we have a lot of great new houses in the 'burbs to check out. Very exciting, unnerving...crazy!!

Thanks for the well wishes on the ankle. I was in so much pain the other night I really thought I sprained it but the next morning it was better and today it's normal so it looks like just a dumb preggo trip!
Popping & Weight - Kim, glad you're gaining some weight. I share a due date with a friend and she was very sick and is barely at her pre-pg weight. I, meanwhile, have put on 15 lbs so far!! With DD I gained 35 lbs total. While nursing her I lost 50 lbs total (yes, 50! and I was average weight to begin with!) so I actually started this pg 15 lbs less than DD's. That makes the 15 I've gained so far even out to 0 in my mind :)
Good luck with the house selling, Kim. I really hope it goes quick and painless. We sold our house in August and moved twice (last week was the final move to our home) and I'm so glad to be done with it. Hopefully you'll be moved and settled in before baby arrives.

Thanks for the congrats, everyone.
I forgot to mention what I learned during my ultrasound appointment. I've been worried for a week or so now about not feeling any obvious movement from the baby. Turns out there was a reason! The placenta is in an anterior position above the baby (which the tech said was a normal position) and is acting as extra padding that prevents me from feeling movement as easily as others. The tech said I probably won't start feeling really obvious movement until 6 months. Given how active our little guy appears to be, this might be a blessing in disguise! :) At any rate, it was a relief to hear and I just had to share.

pg_jess: Congratulations on your little boy! :) Btw, at least you know now why you aren't feeling movement! That's good news! :)
ieducate: I am hoping I don't go through the same thing you are going through. I keeping thinking that I might be disappointed if I find out what it is... disappointed that I wasn't able to "wait it out". But I don't know... this is my first baby and I figure I will still have one more shot to not find out... right? :)

Congrats on your baby boy pg_jess!!!
Lots of luck selling your place Kim!! I hope it sells quick and you find something new easily!
I love the bedding at Target Tonysweetie! We bought DD's there and it was wonderful - great price, beautiful, and lasted 2+ years!
We've had a nice weekend. My grandma flew in to visit from California on Thursday and my whole family (parents, aunts, uncles, cousins) met for lunch yesterday. My parents ended up taking DD home with them for the night so she'd have more time with her great-grandma, which was nice for DH and me. I had a couple of BH contractions during lunch, so it really helped to come home and rest for a change, instead of chasing after my lovely DD.
I've noticed the baby is very responsive to touch. DD never was; if we'd touch my belly when she started moving, she'd immediately stop. Not our little man, though :). As soon as I feel a good thump I'll (or DH) will push gently on the part of my belly where he just kicked. A few seconds later, he's back in that same spot, kicking again. I'm loving it :D.

Congrats and welcome to TEAM BLUE pg_jess, mili04, and ind0fl1p!
I went ahead and got the "chase" bedding from PBK this weekend. I ended up only getting the bumper and crib skirt. I had gift cards and wanted to get the bigger items out of the way. The crib sheets are easier, b/c they wont break the bank. The only downside of my order was that everything is backordered till November 25th. Hopefully after the bedding is here though we can start working on the room!
lauren - I've noticed that our little guy is sensitive to touch as well. And also to sound. Yesterday I was singing at church and he was jumping all over the place. And when I had my song book nudging into my belly, he promptly let me know who's "territory" the belly is. WHAM! haha...

MarriedaGoalie: YAY! 20 more weeks to go, hehe.
I'm feeling crumby today. I'm soooo tired. I was like this all weekend. Yesterday I slept at least 12 or 13 hours. I went to bed Sat. night at like midnight and slept until 10:30 am. I got up and went back to bed at 12:30 and slept until almost 3 pm. Last night I went to bed around 10:30 and slept until 9:20 this morning. I could go back to bed without an issue. I thought the fatigue was suspose to go away in the 2nd trimester?! :( Other than that feeling alright I guess. Still feeling baby movement, not hard kicks or anything but I get the flutters every now and then. It's pretty cool. I'll be happy when I finally get hard kicks. Well off to finish laundry....

I'm 20 weeks this week too and excited to be halfway there! We looked at carseats, swings, and other baby gear we'll need to buy for this one and will likely do that after the holidays.
I had lunch with my dad and grandma today and am stuffed! I had tomato basil soup, 1/2 a sandwich, 1/2 Caesar salad, and fresh strawberries with cream & cinnamon on top. So yummy! The little man must be nice and full, too, because he's usually kicking up a storm in the afternoons but has been pretty quiet today.
Tonysweetie: I'm sorry you're not having the happiest day. If it's nice weather, go for a walk. The fresh air should do wonders for your mood and the exercise will be wonderful for both you & the baby. Or get a pedicure/manicure, treat yourself to something you're craving, buy a new book. Do something nice and special for you.

Married: I'm guessing you're having a girl. I've been comparing my belly shots with this baby and mine with DD and your stomach shape more resembles mine with DD ;).
DD has a small cold and is going to the dr. for a quick check tomorrow. We've noticed lately, though, that she keeps complaining about her stomach hurting, but she seems to feel fine. This evening, coming home from work/preschool I was mentioning to DH how tight and sore my stomach felt after eating a big lunch when she started to complain about her stomach hurting. We finally realized what she was doing - her stomach doesn't hurt! She already says her baby sister is in her belly (poor thing won't accept she's having a brother  ) and now her stomach keeps hurting. She's acting like mommy :o

Hi April Mommies-to-Be:
I'm sorry that I have not posted a message since my last message regarding our ultrasound. I have been a little down about all the news.
To begin, I want to thank each of you for your thoughts and prayers. It truly means a lot to me. Sometimes it is easier to write down my feelings and share them with all of you then explain it over and over to friends and family. Again, thank you so much for listening.
I had my monthly doctors appointment today with my OB. The babies heartbeat sounded good. I told the doctor how stressed out I have been over waiting for my AFP results and deciding on an amino test. The doctor decided to call the State of California (who has the blood test results), and get the results. Thank heavens my AFP came back negative with no high markers pointing at down's syndrome.
I have a second ultrasound tomorrow afternoon with the peri specialist again. It is at this time that my DH and I have to decide on if we still want to do an amino.
If anyone of you who have had to have an amino done could please give me your opinion on doing an amino or not, I would greatly appreciate it. I am still confused in deciding if we should have one or not.
I need to go back and read all of your posts from the past few weeks so that I can see how each of you are doing. I will post again tomorrow after my doctors appointment.
Thank you again for all of your support.
I hope that all of you are doing well and feeling good.

It must have been nice to have a little break. I love how your boy is a big kicker and your girl was a little quieter. Already a difference, and still in utero! ;)
I told my pg friend (due a month behind me, and our 1st are the same age...and "dating", lol) your story about Ava and her belly. She thought it was hilarious!!! Kids are so perceptive.
BTW the way you described your strawberries made me actually want some. yay! Maybe another craving (and fruit is likely a better craving than cake, right??).

Nope, exhaustion can take a little while to go away. I felt my best with DS from a few weeks into the 2nd trimester all the way to about 4 weeks before my due date. I was all glowy and energetic - so be patient, it will come!
MarriedAGoalie
Oooohhh you are really starting to round out. :) Cute bump!
tinkerbell
I am so sorry you have been stressing out. Its tough when things don't go 100% smoothly. Maybe I missed something, but it sounds like odds are looking in your favour for good results. I haven't had an amnio, so i can't give any advice there. But is there any other test - or 'retest' - they can do instead to get the info you need?
Best of luck to you - hang in there.
On To Me: Belly Pics, etc
So today I am 16 fetal weeks along, so only 2 more weeks til I'm halfway cooked!
Since I will be crazy busy the next few days, then gone for 10 days...the day I get back from my 3 back to back trips I have my big Anatomy Scan and find out the gender. Soooooo.....here are a couple pics for your perusal:
Me today at 16 fetal weeks:

Me at 16 fetal weeks with DS:
http://static.flickr.com/100/297442032_8b2d6aff9b.jpg?v=0
Any final gender guesses?
Of course I'll be back in here once I find out and let you all know how the appointment (and all my trips!) went.
I drive up to my parent's for the day then the next morning fly out for vacation, then the day before Thanksgiving fly up to the IL's for the holiday. WHEW. I just hope I am feeling decent for the trip, though DH & I know there's a good chance I won't be so great. But what can you do, right? I have my drugs and people around to help.
As for how I'm feeling? eh..I think I am almost getting used to feeling nauseous all the time. This past week I am always a little nauseous, then will get hit with a HUGE wave of nausea and have to sit and close my eyes and breath through my nose til it passes. Or dry heave in the sink. Good times. But mostly I am just exhausted (same old record, I know!). Haven't had a headache too badly in a few days, so I am counting my blessings there.
Okay, back to work on our apartment. I have a handful of things I need to get done before Thursday when the realtor comes to take pics. Its officially on the market today, which is exciting and scary at the same time. Yikes! Thanks everyone for your comments earlier for fast seeling vibes. We need them. :p

Had the big u/s this morning...We're officially joining team BLUE :).
tinkerbell - I can't remember your exact situation. From your post, I take it they would be doing the amnio to test for Down's? I had an amnio last month, but I was in a different situation (that was the only way they could test for our potential problem). If Down's is the issue and I had a 'good' AFP, I would lean towards not doing the amnio. I might think twice if the u/s still comes back with Down's markers. It's a tough call either way, but I can tell you that I didn't think the amnio was difficult at all. Good luck making your decision.

I can't believe I'm 17 weeks today! It just seems like the 2nd trimester is going wayyyy faster than the 1st did. I'm not complaining though. I'm so excited to meet my little one. I'm feeling MUCH better today. I was just having a tired couple of days I guess. I'm glad it's passed though. Today I got the biggest craving for homemade pizza! So I went to WalMart and bought all the stuff to make a homemade pizza. YUMMM!
Can you believe next week is Thanksgiving???!!! I can't believe it's the Holiday season already. That means our Christmas tree and decorations start going up next weekend. OH MY! I went today and got some lights for our tree and some other goodies. I'm already in the spirit of Christmas. hehe. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday! God Bless!!!

Tinkerbell, with a good AFP I definitely would hold off on the amnio. Hopefully you'll get more answers at your ultrasound but I just want to emphasize that these markers are very common. While they can indicate Downs, they are usually nothing. A recent study at UCSF found that choroid plexus cysts (spots on the baby's brain) "occur at the same rate in babies with and without Down syndrome." Another study at Mass General found that that "choroid plexus cysts occur with similar frequency in fetuses with trisomy 21 to that in fetuses from the general population. The finding of choroid plexus cysts should not be used to increase the patient's calculated risk of having a fetus with trisomy 21." I can give you the links to those studies if you like. You might also check out http://choroidplexuscyst.org/forum/ This site is full of people experiencing similar situations and what they are doing about it. A best friend of mine lost her baby after an amnio at 18 weeks. I know you're facing a tough decision but I would just want for you to have all the facts. (Hugs!)
diedra1027, Congratulations on your little boy!
I went and picked up my AFP/Quad screen results last night and everything looks good! The risks they gave me are:
Down Syndrome: 1:19,119
NTD: 1:26,000
Trisomy 18: 1:59,275
I know there is controvery over this test and its "false positives" but it is reasurring to have these numbers now.

Big U/S today for us, too!
We're having a BOY!
Baby Boy evidently is enjoying being very low. The tech said he's curled up right against my pelvic bone (I could tell) with plenty of uterus to spare. He is also enjoying my placenta, as he buried his face in it during the entire U/S. We did get an OK picture, but not nearly as clear as with James. Hard to tell if there are similarities, because the pictures aren't as comparable.
Dr. C. did a swab for BV today, and it was negative. Good news. BV (bacteria vaginosis) can lead to pPROM, which is what I experienced with James. Not that we know if I had BV during PG#1, but just trying to rule things out. I'll start with progesterone injections at week 24.
While I'm at penis-overload at the moment, it is starting to sink in. I was feeling pretty pink, but so much for mother's intuition! In the long run, it really doesn't matter!
My mother still thinks we're joking with her - she wanted a girl SO BAD! (She sent me a dozen pink roses on Monday!) But I pointed out, now she'll have 2 fishing buddies!
Happy - I understand how you feel - I was hoping for a girl, too. But the thing is, and I know you know this too, it simply doesn't matter. Like we're going to love them any less? Guess we'll both be planning a #3! ;)

Updated to here!
Okay, I went through the first couple of pages and did a couple of things. The first thing you will notice is that I updated the very first post (it should be correct now). The second thing was that I went through the Mama Roster and put a spot for the "Actual Gender" under the "Gender Prediction". I also color-coded this section. The last thing you will notice is the belly pics. I only put the first and most recent belly pic up for each person (to save space). Also, I noticed we are missing information... I have the information for this person, but I don't know what your screen name is... if you could please tell me, that would be great! Thanks!

WOW! Team Blue is taking over. Congrats to diedre and happy and anyone else I missed on either team. 2 more weeks until our u/s
Need to update my age to 37. It was my b-day yesterday. :D DH got me a PDA which I've been wanting. I've been having fun entering all sorts of data. So nice to have a take along calendar. DS got me some ruby earrings (his birthstone). Ok so I SUPER hinted for both of these but at least I got something I like. ;)
Been feeling pretty good. Still get nausea off and on but at least the emotions are doing better. I took some bellyshots tonight but don't like how they look. I'll try again over the next few days.
tinkerbell I haven't had an amnio. While they are fairly routine, they do carry a risk of miscarriage that is often downplayed in my opinion. I'd wait and see how your u/s goes and then make a decision. Hugs to you. I know this must be stressful and worrisome.
kim Hope you have a good trip. Happy house selling vibes.

MarriedaGoalie, thanks! Actually I think most of the time you wouldn't get the actual numbers. The only reason I got them is because I went to the place where they took my blood and got the results. They gave me the print out of the exact quantities of each hormone in my blood. My doctor will only say it was negative and things look good. I didn't want to wait until my next appointment to hear that, though, when it's so easy for me to get the exact data :)

I really suck at posting here lately. My life has just been crazy. We put a down payment on our new house to be built and put our hoise up for sale. It sold in 3 days. Guess we'll be renting for awhile.
Everything is going well with the baby. We will make our appintment for our BIG U/S at our next appointment on Dec.4. I was hoping that we would have made it at our last appointment, but my mid-wife wanted to prolong my waiting a while longer. I can't wait to find out. Wonder if I'll follow the trend of all the little boys in here.
Congrats to everyone who has found out what their little beans are! I can't believe how fast this whole pregnancy is moving!

I'm hoping one of the RO's can help me. My mom reminded me today that I might want to get a baby book to keep track of everything. I had totally forgotten about this, but I think it's something I'd want to have. Which one did you guys have? Or which one do you recommend? I'm not an RO, but my mom bought me the Babar baby book and I love it! It has about 6-7 pages of "before the baby was born" stuff in it and then the rest is from the time the baby is born up until it is 1 year old. I like it so far! :)

It has pages for birth to age 5! Its a Really cute book:D

I've had a rough day. I started spotting this morning. :( I had unexplained spotting off and on while pregnant with DS but I still FREAKED OUT. My dr. squeezed me in with the midwife they did an internal, hb, and an u/s. Everything looks great. Baby is measuring right on schedule. The tech could tell the sex. As hard as it was, I decided to wait to find out until the big u/s on the 29th when DH will be with me. HB was 152. Placenta is in the correct position, cervix is long. So once again, it's unexplained spotting. ARGH! So frustrating and worrisome. Both the midwife and the tech said to expect some more spotting. The tech could see some loose blood on the u/s. I hope it eases off quick. Last time I put myself on limitted movement, harder to do with a toddler around.
Yesterday, I learned my friends who are supposed to come for Thanksgiving, might not be able to. I was absolutely devestated. They still might make it but we won't know until Sat. I don't know if the stress of that led to any of the issues today, dr. said no but who knows.
baby book I bought a Winnie the Pooh one at Walmart for DS. Have to admit, I haven't filled in as much as I should. I find, copying my CC posts into a word doc is a more accurate way to keep track of milestones.

lil_nance: I hope the spotting goes away! How scary for you but I'm so happy everything is okay with the baby. I don't know if I could've waiting if the tech could tell me the sex! lol. Your brave! :)
Baby books: I was just talking to DH about this earlier at WalMart. We were in the baby aisle and I metioned it.
We got our baby carrier today! DH picked it out since he's the main person that is going to be using it. So yay for another baby item! Buying things makes it seems so much more real. Now if we could just get started on the room! I will not be around this weekend. I will be out of town for a few days so I hope everyone has fabulous weekends! :)

Nancy: I'm sorry you're spotting. Hopefully, it clears up quickly.
Baby Book: I got one from BRU last time. It's cute and works well for me.
Well, yesterday was the last day for my pre-pg pants. I had been wearing them, mixed in wth my maternity pants, for quite sometime now. I went a whole day squeezed into those things and finally got to unbutton them at the end of the day. *sigh* I guess it's maternity from here on out.

Congrats Diedra on your baby boy!
SarahKatG
So glad your AFP results were good. Its nice to be reassured.

Congrats on your baby boy #2!
I used to think I might be disappointed if this isn’t a girl (I’ve felt it’s a girl from the start), but now I am picturing me with 2 little boys running around together and just think that would be so fun. I really want a daughter too, so I can see where you are coming from – totally normal!

I never ask for mine! I never ask baby’s heartrate or anything. Just tell me if its good and I’m happy with that.

Congrats on your baby boy!
I love how he’s chilling out down there, using his placenta as a pillow. Men! Always looking for a way to relax…
Glad to hear you don’t have bv – at least that’s one risk factor out of the way.

The info comes in so fast and furious, but you are doing a great job!!

Happy birthday!
So sorry to hear about the bleeding (again). Glad in a way to hear its unexplained and the doctors don’t really seem worried, though I imagine I’d be freaked out if it were me. Take care and hopefully it will go away quickly.
I do hope your friends can come for Thanksgiving!
Tonysweetie
I hope you get your u/s to see the baby again and it cooperates. I really hope this one is as cooperative as DS was at his Anatomy Scan: the 1st shot was BAM right where the family jewels are. Not as modest as your little one!
Mystery Bump
I think that belly under juliemag is lil_nance…I know, weird that I know your belly! Lol!

Wow! Congrats on the fast sale! I am hoping for a quick sale of our place, and know if that happens we may be living in a long-term hotel until we find a house. Its so crazy, but in the end totally worth it.
Baby Books
I have a few to recommend:
Baby Books with a lot of pregnancy journaling in them
Anticipation pregnancy Journal by Lifescapes
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000HOD9ZC.01-A2CFVPNEDT9DB5._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_V61676572_.jpg
- This comes with a cd of relaxing music, and you write in sections nicely done titled things like Considering Pregnancy, I’m Having A Baby, The 1st / 2nd / 3rd Trimester, Welcoming Baby etc. you write in how you announced the pregnancy, baby’s development, classes you take, doctor appointments, thoughts on parenthood…I got this as a gift from SIL for my 1st pregnancy and really enjoying writing in it. And when I was having BFing issues, I’d read it while I pumped, and it would help get the milk coming in. I love it!
Waiting for Baby: A Pregnancy Memory Album by Tracey clark

- This is similar to Anticipation, I got it for this pregnancy. Very nice as well! And I think there is a coordinating baby book.
Baby Book
Sweet Pea Baby Record Book by Pepper Pot

- I looked at a lot of baby books, and this was by far my favorite. Not too “themey” and kind of unisex, it covers everything from our family trees, all about me & DH, how we found out I was pg, u/s pic and belly pic spaces, shower info, letters from me & DH, handprint/footprint spaces, current events the birth day, birth story, visitors, announcements, gifts, coming home, growth/doctor info, shots, firsts, 4 brithdays and 1st day of school. It really covers everything and it nicely laid out with lots of space to write.
- If you want it, Google the name and you’ll see they have coordinating brag books, scrap books, etc.
And One More cute Thing (A Great Shower Gift!)
The Mommy Journal: Letters To Your child by Tracy Broy
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/0740727303.01._BO2,204,203,200_PIsitb-dp-500-arrow,TopRight,45,-64_AA240_SH20_OU01_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
- My SIL also gave me this for Xmas when I was pg with dS. Its about 128 pages each page divied into 2-3 spaces for you to write a quite note to baby. I jot something down every so often, like when I was pregnant and felt him kick the 1st time, or when I dreamt about him before having him, or just little things he does now that he’s older. I figure I can give it to him when he’s expecting his first child so he knows how much he was loved.
Shopping
I was walking around the mall yesterday and kept catching the reflection of this really pregnant-looking woman pushing a stroller….and it was ME! :o So I decided to try to get more into this pregnancy and face the fact that I have one serious bump, marched myself over to Motherhood and got 2 pair jeans and a nice sweater. Denial, anyone??
Sunday we head to Miami for a few days to relax before flying to Chicago on for Thanksgiving. Hopefully a few days of rest and then having a week of celebrtations and reasons to actually put on nice clothes and slap on makeup will remind me that I am growing a little miracle inside me. Oh, and then on the 28th we find out the gender. YAY! I think once knowing “who” is in there will really help me bond and get past this feeling-sick-blah I have going on. Between still feeling ill and trying to sell our place I’ve had no space in my head for enjoying this pregnancy. But I think it will come soon.
BTW: DH felt baby move for the 1st time yesterday morning. He was so excited, it was very very cute. That helped.
I'm gonna disappear for a couple weeks, so HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!! I'll be back with lots of travel stories, the gender and hopefully some holiday spirit.

Congrats on all the little boys!!
lil_nance: I'm so sorry you've had unexplained bleeding and hope you don't have too much more. I'm very glad that all is well with the little one, though!
Baby Books
We got one from my grandmother at a baby shower. It's just a simple book from Target, no real theme or anything, but I loved it. It has a family tree, pages for info about mom & dad, and goes up to 5 years. I was diligent about filling it out for DD and want another that's similar this time around.
I've been so busy at work lately. I work for a company that imports furniture, fireplaces, and home accessories everywhere (websites, Home Shopping Network, catalogs, stores, etc) and we've been super busy lately with Christmas coming up. It is coming in handy for holiday shopping though, since I get a nice discount ;). I've felt really good, a little tired but nothing out of the ordinary.

So, I'm starting to get really excited about having brothers (and the fact that besides a coming home outfit, i am buying ds#2 NOTHING... he's 2 months ahead of his brother, so all clothes should fit... although he might get a few new towels, since I'm always running short on those, and thats with only bathing one baby... I have a feeling my laundry skills will NOT be improving with this one's birth...) I'm totally stressing his name though... Oh well...Off to check out cast lists -- I find those easier to browse than those endless lists of names...
Nancy: Hope the spotting goes and stays far from ya... but, that is a GREAT idea of saving cc posts as a way of looking back...I am sooo going to start doing that!

kimthebride: How exciting that DH got to feel the baby move!! My DH has felt ours move ONCE and hasn't felt it since. I think he's crazy and just doesn't know what he is feeling, 'cuz ours moves around like CRAZY!
Last night I had the worst sciatic nerve pain EVER!!! My whole right side went numb and I had a difficult time just sitting still. I ended up having to lay on my right arm, 'cuz that's the only way I could sit still for an extended period of time. It was so weird!!
I got the day off today, so I'm excited about that. I slept until 10am (I've been so tired lately) and then I reviewed a little for my American Government test only to find out that my instructor hasn't posted it yet. :( Now I need to finish up my resume (for my Business Communications class) and then go to the library and start doing some research for my research paper. No fun! :(

I just had a question. I am due May 2nd, but participate in both the April and May threads.
I thought I would ask this here instead of the May thread since I am due the earliest in my thread, and i know these things just start happening around now.
I have just started to feel my baby move. It isnt a constant thing. I cant feel it all the time. But I do feel it occassionally. DH was rubbing my belly last night and I SWEAR baby started to move around in there:D
Anyways, my question is(are)....when did you all first start to feel your baby move. When was it that you started to feel the baby every day. And at 16 weeks, did you feel like it was a baby belly? Or more just like you were getting fat:p
Thanks so much everyone:D

Sunshine: I first started to feel baby move around 16 weeks, but I don't think it was constant until 18 weeks. Now I feel the baby move EVERY day and it's almost like clockwork. I feel it in the morning (around 10:00), then again at or after lunch (around 12-1), in the afternoon again around 2-3 and then in the evening around 8-9pm. I guess it sleeps the rest of the time. I'm not sure.
Also, in regards to the belly.. I don't think I really felt like I had a baby belly until the last couple of weeks 19-20 weeks or so. Everyone is different, though... don't worry. One day you'll be like, "WOAH! That's a baby belly!" haha :)

Sunshine: With #1, I didn't feel movement consistently until I was something like 24-25 weeks along. I think I mentioned this before, but I think it was harder for me to tell because I have a tipped uterus and crazy bowels. As far as the baby belly goes, I was probably 20 weeks when it was obvious.
This time around, at 17 weeks, I haven't really felt anything definitive. I chalk that up to the tipped uterus. As far as the baby belly goes, it was definitely not just a beer gut by about 12 weeks.

Movements & Belly: With my first pregnancy I was right at 20 weeks when I started to feel consistent movement. My belly didn't really pop until 24-ish weeks; up until then I just looked chubby. This time around, I noticed the movements at 16-17 weeks and now at 20 weeks they are very constant, every day. Like Married said, he seems to have his set patterns of when he moves and when he's still. And I would say I looked definitely pregnant at 17 weeks; mostly because that's when strangers would ask if I was expecting ;).

Movements:
With #1, I felt tiny movements around 17 weeks, but nothing consistent until about 19-20 weeks.
With #2, I felt tiny movements around 15 weeks, and somewhat consistent by 17-18 weeks.
I move around a lot on my job.... Typically I'll feel him move when I stop walking.
Bellly:
With #1, I'd say strangers could tell I was PG around 20 weeks.
With #2, I still don't look obviously PG, especially depending on what I'm wearing. With the U/S, we found he was tucked up tight against my pelvic bone....very low. Which probably has a lot to do with why I'm not looking too PG.

Movement-I felt the first flutters as early as 14w, but they didn't become consistent and distinguishable until 17ish weeks. Now he moves every day on and off and is most active at night (I'm 21w now). Congrats on feeling movement! Isn't it an amazing feeling?

Forgot to comment on Baby Belly-I think people could tell I was pg around 16w or so. I am round right in front (as opposed to the side) and it became very obvious rather soon that I was pg as opposed to just chubby-thank goodness!

Movement: I got my first flutter around 15 weeks, I feel the same flutter pinch feeling evey so often during the day. I have to be still to notice. I'm not expecting kicks and real movement for a few more weeks.
Baby Belly: I started feeling like it was a baby belly around 14 weeks b/c I constantly feel fullish. I can tell somethign is in there.

Hello Ladies, I hope everyone is well. I am sorry I have been MIA for so long. I read up on all the postings, but never seem to find the time to sit and post. Anyway, I have a question that goes along with what you have all been talking about on movement. I can feel the baby moving every now and then...at least I think that is what I am feeling, but my question is, how long before my dh will be able to feel it? RO...what week was it for your dh? And...I am not completely sure that I feel the baby move or kick or whatever. I have nothing to compare it to and no way to know for sure. Sometimes I just feel like I get a quick dull pain in my side and that could be her, but I really have no idea. I am clueless about all this pregnancy stuff. It will be interesting to have a second child and compare the two pregnancies.
Anyway, I do hope you all have a wonderful weekend. We have a friend of my dh's coming this morning to take a whole bunch of our furniture and finally make room in our basement to prepare that for the guest room. (We are turning our guest room into the baby's room). I have been waiting to get rid of some of this furniture for over 3 years and my dh finally agreed. He was for some reason very attached to the four couches we have in the basement and they took up an enormous amount of space. We are keeping one of the four couches to make a sitting room, as well as a bedroom for guests. Then we have to go out and buy a daybed today to have put down there...hopefully before next week when my mother comes for a night. :) Talk to you all soon and Happy Thanksgiving if I don't get to post again before Thursday.

My DH felt the baby move around 18 weeks. I can now feel (on a fairly regular basis) the baby kicking (from the outside). I've tried poking back, but he/she doesn't react.

Yay for all the boys!
I've been MIA...out of town for a conference for work most of the week with no internet access. For the first time this week I had several strangers notice The Belly. Someone touched it (she wasn't a stranger) and it didn't really bother me. I'm sure I'll get to a point where it does, but I'm not there yet. What's bothering me the most now is how difficult it is to get comfy at night when I'm trying to sleep...
We're excited because the crib we were told would take 12-14 weeks to get here is already here. We just have to find the time to go and pick it up now. And I think we decided on bedding last night (Vintage Fire Truck from BRU).

Question...strollers/car seats?
We were browsing stuff last night, specifically the Graco combo things with the infant seat/stroller/car seat combo. I've read a little about them, but I was wondering if anyone else had any other information on this or other brands? For ROs, what do you have?
Happy belly vibes to all!

My DH felt the baby move 2 weeks ago, I think. So 18 weeks, maybe 19. Now that he's more active and moving around more forcefully, he's able to feel him more often.
Strollers/Car Seats
With DD we received an Evenflo travel system (car seat + stroller) from one of my aunts. I loved the stroller, hated the car seat. It was very hard for me to get the car seat handle unlocked and lying down and I wasn't crazy about how it held her in. I sold it in a garage sale when I was able to move her up to a newer, better seat and will get a Graco Snugride for this one. My sister had this for my nephew and she loved it and I love what I saw of it. I've also read a lot of online reviews and talked to friends with every variety of seat and this seems to be a good one.

strollers/carseats - I've registered for the Peg Perego Pliko P3 stroller and the graco snugride carseat. I've heard great things about both... so thats what we are going to try.
movement - I first felt the tiniest tap around 15 weeks... things really picked up around week 18 and now I feel him consistently throughout the day. DH can't feel him too well from the outside... but I've felt him kick a bunch when I've had my hand lightly press my stomach. I can tell he doesnt like it when I poke around...
My parents bought us a crib today! We ended up getting a Baby's Dream Serenity Crib - in white. And best of all, it was a floor sample in great condition, so we got a deal and dont have to wait for it. They are just going to hold it for us until we are ready. I"m sooooo excited to have this done!!
pg_jess - Cute bedding! I'd considered that set too...b/c DH is training to be a firefighter...so it's only fitting!
