OK PLEASE make the memo go away. I really hope this is teething because my kid was up at 12, 1, 2, and 4. Shot me!

Rancherswife - Oh, you poor thing! Hope today is much better (and I would have freaked about the pill too, I think all of us would have ;)).
Alicia - Scott sure knows how to apologize! I'm sending Greg over too for the apology class. :p
Holiday pictures - We're getting family and Sarah pictures taken tomorrow. My problem is what Sarah is wearing....she is either going to look like she's in a potato sack or a mini dress. For height, she needs 24 months clothes, but for weight she still needs 18 months, so neither looks right on her. DH would prefer the potato sack look because he doesn't want people thinking we dress her as "a baby hooker." Regardless, I did find two adorable dresses for her to wear, and I was supposed to chose one and return the other, but they are just both too darn cute...that plan may change. ;)

sasha ~ Nic is in the same boat. For height, he needs the 24 month clothes, but they ALL fall off him. (not a big deal with shirts, but pants...). For weight, even some of the 18 month pants fall off him, but they are sooo much better. I'm noticing a HUGE difference in how well his pants stay on by brand... needless to say, we're doing a ton of overalls right now with the huck finn look (rolled legs)...
baby nail vent: Ok. I cut his nails like 2ce a week. THey are NOT long...but they are soooo sharp! (He sits like a zombie in front of the tv, so thats when I cut them... so I have time to do it "right". No matter what I do, they are super sharp. Is that normal, or am I doing something wrong? (I've never noticed such sharp nails on other kids...but I don't spend as much time with them either...)

Just got back from having Abbey's hair cut. I swear, this kid needs a cut every month. Of course, she chose that time to take a poo, so the smell was unbearable. Poor beautician! I was so embarassed, even though I know it's totally natural. :o
Sasha- We're in the same boat with clothes as well. Abbey is in the 95th percentile for height and only 60th for weight. Usually Children's place is good, or Target with the adjustable waist bands. Gap and ON are a total joke.
Happy1 (Nails)- Scott always says that Abbey has really sharp nails, but I've never noticed it.
rancherswife- Bummer! I was hoping you watched Young and the Restless so that I could have someone to gossip with! ;) I also used to watch Days, but it just got too ridiculous for me to follow.
ETA: DH will be happy to hold some "how to apologize properly" classes to make extra $$ for the holidays. ;)

Ally~Ugh!! Sorry about the rough night.
Sasha~We have the same problem. We need 18 months on length, but 12 months for weight (sometimes as low as 6-9months on some brands). I've found that Sonoma brand at Kohl's works really well. There 18 month stuff fits DD perfectly!
I'm tired! I've been cleaning like crazy today!! I'm finally feeling caught up on the week, though!
Gotta go save the cat. DD is occupying her self torturing him!!

Cleaning: It's amazing how messy this place can get when I'm not here every day to straighten as things get messed up. Between me working, Ryan being home at night all last week instead of in the field and Aidan making an utter pigsty everywhere she goes, this place looks like a tornado hit it. Oy. Anyone wanna come clean for me? ;)
Clothes: Aidan has short legs, a round tummy and is VERY long waisted (like her daddy) so clothes fit her weird. Her 18 month stuff for the most part fits her perfectly in length but is too tight around the waist (pants particularly, dresses and tops are still good). Her 24 month and 2T stuff is usually all too long on her but fits great around the waist. All of her pants sit too low on her hips and half of her diaper hangs out. Such a great look, lemme tell ya. I love that Target puts adjustable waistbands in all their pants. Now if only they could make adjustable hems!
Hair: I have got to start making Aidan let me do her hair. She looks like such a ragamuffin when it just hangs there all limp. It's finally long enough to start doing pigtails so I need to just start doing it despite the temper tantrums. Apparently this is the "Mother's Curse" biting me in the a$$. I was telling my mom about how Aidan fights me when I try to do her hair and she said that she used to have to chase me around the house to be able to even brush my hair. She's loving it and I'm suffering...ah, the ways of mothers and daughters!

hahaha... Yeah, my mother (and father) get lots of laughs out of the ummm, trying mama moments... even though, they'll tell you I was their easiest child (I'm not sure if that speaks to how easy I was, or how hard my brother and sister were)... ah well...
Clothes: Hmmm ... Didn't know Target had adjustable waists...will have to check that out...
Cleaning: Ummm, yea...what's that? I DO know what that means, but if you saw my house, youd doubt that...

Nails
I do the tv-zone-out manicure 2x a week as well (my nails grow SO fast and he gets it from me).
To 'dull' them, I use a 4-sided nail buffer like this one from Bath & Bpdy Works:
http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/graphics/product_images/pBBW1-2275879v194.jpg
One side is for real filing, then the next side is a little less rough, and so on. I use the 1st side to file the clipped end to as short as possible, then the 2nd side at an angle to smooth & round out the end, taking the sharpness off.
I hope that makes sense!
Since doing this, I get scratched sooooo less often.
Sizing
A couple weeks ago I was at the Ped's for a sick visit, and had him measured. He was 33" tall and 26lbs 4oz. Which of course puts him smack in the middle of the too-big-for-18-24 month size and too-small-for-2T size  . I end up just getting it a big larger than he needs, and buying pants with adjustable waists, cuffing the hem if its too long, and if the shirts are too big it doesn't bother me at all.
Thanksgiving
I completely forgot to get DS something to wear for Thanksgiving. We have 2 of them and there's ALWAYS a ton of pics taken, so we can justify something new. I hope babyGap has some cute stuff - I think that's the only place I can hit this week before our travels!
Oh, and hmmm...I don't know what the heck to wear myself. Ak!

Wow. Just. WOW. What a day! I hope the weekend is a happy, calm time for you!!!

Nails: Yep, sharp here too.
Clothes: 18mo bottoms and 24mo/2T tops. Some 24mo pants work as well but need to be rolled.
Cleaning: We just broke down and got someone to come 2x/month. It's heaven. I was at my wits end.
Dreary weather here and DS' mood matches -- fabulous. We have already had 2 meltdowns and 1 time out this morning. Luckily he went down for a nap at 9:30. I just don't think he was ready to get up this morning at 6.

Rancherswife: OMG! What a miserable day! I hope your weekend is going better.
sharp nails: I cut DS's nails once a week and try to file w/ an emory board if he lets me. He always has cuts on his ears and face and he's constantly scratching me.
Cleaning: I told DH I wanted a cleaning service for Xmas this year. We'll see. I try to pick up at the end of every day, but as for the actually cleaning....well....it is lacking to say the least.
ahavnes: What an apology! Wow!
Clothes: We seem to be in the same boat. Collin needs 18 months for length, but he has thinned down so much they slide right off of him. We've been spending time in "high rise" pants. I've been buying him pants from The Children's Place b/c of the adjustable waist.
Dreshny
11-11-2006, 09:33 AM
Sizing: 12-18 month pants/overalls are *still* a little long on him, 12-18 month shirts fit, but some are tight, and 18-24 month shirts fit, but only with the sleeves rolled. I have no idea what size to buy anymore. Some of his 6-9 month onesies still fit.
The Memo: C'mon guys, 'fess up, who sent it? 'Cause I really didn't need to have Asher up from 2:30 to 4:00 last night. He had obviously had a nightmare, so we read him some books first, but then he still wouldn't go back to sleep, and kept asking for milk, and I was getting too tired to keep nursing him over and over again. Finally, I told him the milk was sleeping and he should be, too, but after 15 minutes of listening to him to complain, I finally sucked it up (ha ha!) and nursed him one last time. Luckily, he went to sleep after that.

11-11-2006, 09:34 AM
OK who sent the memo to Grace? She has been up the last 2 nights at 3 and won't go back to sleep :( and then this morning not only did she wake up at 3 she decided to wake and want to play at 6 am.
nails yup sharp here as well and they grow so fast.

Thanksgiving Gear: Ah crap, I forgot about this. Last year I found her outfit on Ebay for a buck. It cost more to ship it than it did to buy it. Gotta find something cute this year and I haven't even started to look! Yikes!
Crazy Baby: Saturdays Ryan gets up with Aidan and lets me sleep and apparently she took her crazy baby pills because she was one seriously wild child. Climbing up onto everything, testing Daddy, yelling at the top of her lungs for no reason. And, eating everything in sight. So, when she gets up from her nap, we're taking her to "Monkey Joe's." This place here that has tons of those inflatable jump houses and things like that. She gets in for $5 and if we wear sports stuff today we get a free item from the concession stand. I'm hoping she can burn off some of that energy she's got!

Can I just vent about dh? Ugh, holidays and where to spend them are always an issue... UGH UGH UGH... (We see my immediate family all the time so that ways, its no big deal...but I have relatives coming from 4 hours away...coming thur, leaving fri)... AND, dh is not willing to even WORK at helping me find a compromise so we can see everyone! He's on his your-family-gets-priority-over-mine soapbox and won't budge... (and to top it all off...guess where we're going today? to bil's for dinner, since they won't be around for tgiving... yeah... )
:)

Kim - I'm confused....Sarah seems to be close in size to Thomas (I'm guessing she is about 25-26 lbs and almost 34 inches), and most of the 18-24 month size stuff is too big for her in weight still, cause it usually goes from like 27-29lbs. Maybe you and I are just shopping at completely different places. ;)
happy1 - Sorry about the holiday drama. Hope DH concedes a bit.
Nails - Try to do them about once a week and I just had the biggest "duh" moment that I have never thought to do it while she is zoned watching Elmo. Thanks for the great idea!
Cleaning - We have a lady come every other week and clean. Betweeen working full time and Sarah, it is a huge lifesaver for me. But the house gets messy pretty quickly in between when she comes. :o

rancherwife- What a day!! Hope this weekend has started better!
Nails- DH does them and they're not too sharp as long as he keeps up with cutting them.
Sizing- I had gotten so comfortable with 12-18 months that I didn't realize that James has had a little bit of a growth spurt. Now the pants are too short, but 18-24 is just a little too long. With tops/onesies, he can do 12-18 months or 18-24 months.
happy1- Sorry that DH won't compromise. That's not fair. It's not an issue for us because my family is so far away , but if they were closer I could see DH being unreasonable too.
Thanksgiving outfit- Not sure; I wanted him to wear the brown bulldog sweater from Gymboree, but they don't have it in his size. So I'm not sure. He has a great train sweater from Osh Kosh, but it may be too Christmasy.
Cleaning- I got into it yesterday with DH on this very subject; he seems to think I'm not doing enough, I think I'm doing just fine. ahavnes- where can my DH sign up for that apology class with your DH??? ;)

We've swapped the memo for more teething in our house. DS has been such a bear today!!! I can't remember the last time he's been this out of whack. My head hurts.
Thanksgiving outfit: Dark tan Osh'Kosh cord overalls (Kohls) with a brown, orange, tan shirt (Target).
Dreshny
11-11-2006, 02:48 PM
Thanksgiving outfit: We got a blue button-down shirt and gray sweater vest from Tea Collection half price on clearance, but we got size 24 months. So if it fits, maybe he'll wear that, otherwise it's his Hanukkah outfit, and he'll wear something fall-ish from Gymboree. Thanksgiving is seriously casual at my aunt's house, so it doesn't really matter...

thanksgiving outfit: Got Landon's a couple of weeks ago. It's a cute Kenneth Cole outfit, can't find a pic. of it, or I'd post it.
nails: Oh, his grow, so fast and are so sharp. I cut them at least once a week. Always before we go play anywhere, I hate when he gets scratched by another kid and I'm sure other kids parents hate it as well. :)
weekend: Thanks for the better weekend wishes. So far, so good. Today, my mom and I did some shopping. Got Reece's crib and changing table ordered, I feel much better about that. Dh and I went and had dinner just the two of us this evening while Landon stayed at my parents, they wanted to keep him over night, but we wanted to bring him home. Nothing exciting going on tomorrow, I'm sure dh will be glued to the tube watching football ALL DAY! ;)
cleaning: I have a cleaning lady that comes every other week. She's great. I had her when I was teaching before Landon came, then she stopped coming, because I decided I could handle it, since I was a SAHM, then when I got pg w/ Reece, we hired her back, and she's here to STAY! She's the BEST! The house still gets messy, but it's a lot more manageable!
memo: I'll repeat again PLEASE KEEP THE MEMO AWAY FROM MY SON'S ROOM/CRIB!!! ;) And, I'm sorry to those dealing w/ the memo, teething, etc.!

I discovered last summer that some places either have different weight/height charts for boys & girls clothes or they just cut them different. Could explain the mystery! :)

Memo Sorry guys, we got rid of it this week. Sending a virtual shredder...
Clothing We're 12-18 and some 18-24 tops. Pants are mostly 12 months still but ON and Gap pants fit at around 12-18 months. Kind of glad because I can still squeeze him in last years sweaters since the cold hasn't really hit here.
Thanksgiving Our are super casual so probably jeans and sweater but I'm glad I got PB's Thanksgiving bib so I can reuse this year.
Target has some really cute boy holiday outfits, for those looking for something dressy.
Nails 1-2 times a week and I cut pretty close. We used to be able to cut any old time but now I have to do the TV zone out.
Cleaning So we finally interviewed a cleaner yesterday who's going to come once a month. I am so excited and she totally made my day when she reduced the intital deep cleaning fee because she said our house was pretty clean to begin with. :D I have to admit that DH has really picked up the ball over the last few months. I haven't had to clean a dish in the last 5 months!

Funny story....
We rarely go on the computer when we are home with DS but since DH and DS were playing just now, I thought I would jump on. Since I got my new desk, our CPU sits in a cupboard and DS would always try to open and push the buttons. Well, DH put a bouncing Tigger toy that scares the bejeezus out of DS in the cupboard. He just now came and opened it to peek in and shut it promptly.
I feel bad for scaring him but problem temporarily solved.

cynder: Too funny! And, I'm so impressed w/ your dh...no dishes in 5 months! NICE! :)
I just ordered Landon's x-mas eve outfit from gap. SO freakin' cute. I'll come back and post it later.
Landon and dh are outside playing in the dirt w/ his dump truck. So cute. I'm enjoying the quiet time in the house. I've been humming the "Elmo's Potty Time" theme song ALL DAY! I can't get it out of my head.

Nails~I use the Walmart version of what Kim posted on DD's nails. It does a pretty good job!
Cleaning~DH has talked about getting someone to come in once we get some debt paid down. For now, I just do what I can during the day without making myself insane!
The Memo~We had one night where she decided to get up and play for a couple of hours. Then last night she was having a nightmare, so DH went in a rocked her. She woke up for a few minutes but then went back to sleep.
Happy1~We have been in the same boat, except roles are reversed here. We finally worked out a compromise after a couple of difficult weeks. Good luck!
Thanksgiving Outfit~We'll be celebrating Thanksgiving with the ILs on Thursday and my family on Saturday. I'll probably dress her in something like this (http://i.walmart.com/i/p/00/76/70/52/10/0076705210513_500X500.jpg)! We have it in three different colors.
Cynder~LOL! Such an easy solution! Too bad it won't work for me. Tigger would probably encourage DD to approach!
Question~Is anybody else having a terrible time losing the baby weight? Since I've started trying to lose, I've put on nearly 30 pounds! (That's 15 pounds heavier than I was at 41 weeks pg!) I gave in a bought me some scrubs to wear around the house since nothing else seems to fit. Ugh!!
psusna
11-12-2006, 05:57 PM
I have no idea where DS got the energy today but he was literally running laps for like 15 minutes this evening! The boy was totally crazy!
We seem to have kicked the memo but I can not get him to sleep past 6am. He was up at 5:30 both days this weekend and I left him go until 6 when he started getting ancy. Therefore, he has had 2 naps both days this weekend. He's a mess!! He's got a cold, still, and is teething -- wrecked, I tell ya.
Baby Weight: I dropped it all and then some in the first 4mo of DS' life ---- then I went back to work. No more walks with the stroller 2x/day, no more not eating b/c I was too busy playing = pudge city. I need to drop 10lbs and I'd be happy. 10lbs is always the hardest for me.
Cynder: Too funny! If I send DH to Alicia's DH for apology class, can he come to your house for doing dishes lessons?
We leave a week from Tuesday for PA. I've got SO MUCH TO DO!! I'm behind the 8 ball on this one. Ugh. Off to wrap Christmas presents -- so not in the mood.

baby weight: Well....I lost it all + 10 lbs., then well....you know! I've gained a total of 8 lbs. as of my last OB appt., I go again next week. I'm sure I've gained at least 4 lbs. this month! Glad I go before Thanksgiving! ;) But, to lose the baby weight, I did WW and walked my BUTT off...plus, nursed my boobs off for 12 full months! ;) But, really, by November, I was about 5 lbs. below what I was when I got pg w/ Landon. I swear by WW and walking...and nursing! ;)
speaking of gaining weight...just waiting for my parents to get here, they're bringing out dinner tonight instead of us having "sunday dinner" at their house. NICE! :)

thanksgiving outfit: Nic'll be wearing khaki pants and a green plaid shirt with a sweater vest over it... so cute (AND, i got the shirt/vest at the childrens place outlet for like, $5.00...score!)
Question: anyone have any opinions on potty seats? I think I want to get one for Nic for christmas (we're nowhere NEAR ready for potty training, but he's pretty consistent poo-wise, so figured that we could start with that and just get him used to the idea... (no pressure, no plans to stop diapers anytime soon kind of thing)...

We use the Royal Potty by Fisher Price. DD went through a phase where she would only potty on the big potty, but now she'll potty on it. I noticed she preferred the bigger one after we put the batteries in it, though.

Potty: I highly recommend the Baby Bjorn Potty Chair. Babies R Us carries it for $22.99. It is a little bit more than some of the other options out there, but I think it is very worth it. I like that it is solid and can't be easily knocked over. I also like that the pee guard (key for the boys) has nice rounded edges and is part of the chair (can't be pulled or knocked off as he gets on). The high sides and back make it easier for DS to get himself into and out of it. Sometimes DS will prop himself up a little using the high sides to get better, um, pushing leverage. DS likes the chair a lot too. Sometimes he wants to use the big potty and sometimes he prefers his potty. We hold him over the big one which is handy for when we are out, but we've also been doing it long enough that he is well used to it...I'd hate to try to get him used that now.

Thanksgiving outfit - Pet peeve alert....It is still warm here, yet all retailers insist on carrying outfits that are like cords, sweaters, etc. No in SoFla is wearing that when it is still 80 degrees outside! So, I have yet to find an T-giving outfit for Sarah that would make sense for her to wear in warmer weather. I have a few dresses and skirts she can wear, but they are all more on the summery side, since that is still our weather. (Sigh, I am a misplaced Northerner, I love fall and winter clothes :o ).
Potty - Not a freakin clue. I don't think we can really start any potty training until she is in the daycare class that does. I'm sure that is closer to her 2nd birthday.
Baby Weight - I lost it all plus about an additional 8-10 lbs within the first 4 months. It was the new mom stress diet. ;) Considering I hardly ever get to work out and eat out for lunch all the time at work, I feel I am just lucky and blessed with good metabolism. Well that and the fact that when we eat with Sarah, she never lets me sit and enjoy an entire meal!
I took Sarah a boy from her daycare's 2nd birthday party yesterday, and it was at a Little Gym (like Gymboree). She had the time of her life, so I want to sign her up for the Saturday class starting in January. But DH is balking at the price, saying we'll never make it every Saturday morning and therefore won't get our money's worth. For those of you who do those classes, please give me some arguing points so I can convince DH!

I think the memo got lost in all my packing :) Hope it stays that way.

Thanksgiving I have a ton of new clothes that my mom got him beginning of the season so I think we are doing kakis and a cute polo. Seems silly to buy new stuff right now if he hasn't worn stuff he has!!
potty I think once we get settled we will maybe bring it out.

ally: How did it go telling your Nanny about the move?
We just told her that we were moving for Aiden and a better life. She understands but is VERY upset about having to leave Aiden. She feels a little better beacause DH will be with him at first but it is still hard for her. We will miss her A LOT:(

Ally: Your nanny is breaking my heart! Those relationships are so special. However, I’m so excited for you to move! I’m living vicariously through you because I know DH would never in a million years want to move to the little one stop light town where my parents live. Things just seem so much simpler there, so much slower, etc. Good luck packing :)
WHEW I haven't been around in forever. No way I could try to totally catch up :)
Potty
Jack is pretty regualr with BMs. Like clockwork - everynight around 7:00ish. I always know he's going b/c he'll leave the room and go hold a chair or rthe back ofthe couch and go. I'll ask him if he's going poo poo and he says "Mmmm hmm". I havent' been trying to get him to go on the potty BUT I'll dump the diaper in the toilet and say "poo poo in the potty!" and then flush it. He gets all excited and waves "bye bye poo poo". Who ever knew "poo poo" time could be so cute!? Also when I am alone with him at home and have to go to the bathroom I'll just leave the door open. Everytime I do that now and he sees me in there he'll come over and ask "Poo poo?" HA! At least he associates it - right? I think he's gettin a potty as a Christmas gift .. it's in the "Once Upon a Potty" gift set:
http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-9/qid=1163091054/ref=sr_1_9/601-6893025-8351362?ie=UTF8&asin=B000BUET92
I am in NO way trying to potty train him now but I'd like to have a potty around for him to get used to. We'll read the book and look at the potty and that way I figure it'll be an easier transition one day down the line when he is ready.

nails--still doing them during his nap, though once in a while he'll let me do them while he watches.
Thanksgiving--my parents and aunt will be eating at our house, then we'll go to MIL's for dessert. No outfit picked out for DS yet.
memo--blech, don't get me started. I think that especially with the stress in the house (from our move on Wednesday), Brody can sense it and he hasn't been sleeping well.
Potty--not sure if its time yet, though maybe it is because...
Leaking problem--I'm on the hunt for size 6 diapers overnite diapers, but so far, no go. Every night now, Brody has been leaking badly out of his size 5 Huggies overnites. Do they even make Huggies overnites in size 6? I can't find them. I do like those diapers, because they have the super super absorbent padding all the way around, so it does seem to hold extra fluid compared to Pampers Cruisers. I'm not sure what to do, because this is a daily problem. We've tried to stop giving him as much to drink after 4pm (he always gets an 8oz bottle at bedtime) to see if that helps. Bah.

Gymboree Class We're going to start Little Gym after the holidays. My mom gave us around $200 for his birthday and said to buy him a real motorized car so that his first car came from his grandparents. Um, no. So I told my mom that we were going to put the money towards gym class. Both DH and I know that, DS needs one Sat activity otherwise he goes bonkers. We don't buy him a lot of toys so he gets bored fast at home. I can't seem to find a music class his age so we thought this would be a good start. I guess my talking points would be that it's a great way for you or your DH to have an interactive time with her. I know Sat mornings are a pain, but I loved how we were already out for the day to run errands after class and he slept an awesome nap that day.
Potty Not starting soon even though when I asked DS if he went "poopy" this morning, he went straight for our bathroom and stood in front of the toilet while trying to pull his pants down. I need him to get a few more words before we can think about training.
So, we still pull DS with us into the bathroom (when only one parent is there) and less so when we shower since we trade off. I think that's mainly how's understanding what the toilet is for. Personally, I don't have a problem with family naked time but I do want him to understand private time. Anyone draw a hard line yet with this?

Family Bathroom Time~I have been thinking about this too. As far as private time goes, I do shut the bathroom door when I use downstairs bathroom during the day. Saturday mornings are when the whole family uses the bathroom together. My question is when does it become inappropriate for DD to be in the bathroom while DH is naked? He usually steps out of the shower only to dry off legs, wrap a towel around him, and then puts underwear on, so he's pretty well covered the whole time. She does open the shower door while he's in there to say "hi" though.
Sleep/Nightmares~I'm not sure what's going on with DD's sleep, but abuot an hour after we put her down, she starts crying really bad in her sleep. Last night it was so loud that we could hear it over the movie we were watching. She will not go back to sleep either until we come in. I'm not sure if she's having bad dreams or if it is some form of separation anxiety or what?

tgr68 - DOn't know about the nightmares, but Nic has seperation anxiety REALLY bad. Anywhere we go with strangers, Nic puts his head in my shoulder and just peeps out. It made the waiting room at the drs today (recheck of his ear...$15.00 and 5 minutes later, all is fine...) a breeze since he wouldn't leave my arms, but the second they put us in the exam room an closed the door, he was a pita, wanting to get down and explore (ummm, NO)...
Fam Bathroom ~ Well, when we're home alone, I leave the door open to the bathroom. It's to the point, where, when I announce mommys gotta potty...he goes running to the bathroom door and starts banging on it with a really happy look on his face... (he likes to go through the drawers in there). Once daddy gets home, the door gets shut again... He's never in the bathroom while either one of us shower (curtain w/ lowledge...he'd be in the shower with us in 30 sec)... its just easier not to deal. I honestly didn't think anything of it. Until he can handle being alone for a few minutes without the tv on (yea, mama's boy with BAD sep anx)... he'll get to come in with me...

I'm happy to report that we had a great weekend with Abbey. She was in such a good mood and we had so much fun! I have missed that b/c she's been super crabby lately. The memo is still in effect big time, but it's easier to deal with when she's been happy all day. :o
Thanksgiving Outfit- I'm going to look for that this week. Probably something from Old Navy or Baby Gap. ;) Hard to say b/c it could be 80 or 55 degrees.
Family Bathroom- Funny you all brought this up. Abbey has recently taken an interest in chasing us around the bathroom when dressing, trying to grab our butts! I have no choice but to keep her in the bathroom while I shower and dress b/c DH is already at work, but Scott has decided that he'd like his privacy from now on. ;)
Potty- Not even thinking about it until after the holidays and paci weaning.
Holiday Pj's I can't remember who, but someone posted asking where to find matching mommy/child holiday pj's. The Children's Place has some cute ones online (not in the store). Hope that helps!

Bathroom/Nudity Lines
When I am with DS during the day, he goes into the PnP I have in the livingroom when I need to use the bathroom or if he's up when I have to shower. I just leave the door open so I can hear him. He's never had a problem with it.
Nightmares
DS has had a few nightmares, and its so clear when its this or when he's just waking. He FREAKS and will cry - last week DH got up and DS was screaming bloody murder, crying but still laying down with his eyes closed. He had to wake him up, calm him down, then put him back to bed. Poor thing.
I do notice if DS naps later than 4pm he will wake up more during the night. Just for less than a minute, but still. He'll even cry for us most of the time.
Little Gym
DS *loves* this class! We've had to miss 3 of this series because of me being ill, but he gets sooooo excited when we are walking towards the entrance. I am so glad we tried it out!
I'd suggest doing a free trial class first to see if he's into it, since some kids prefer this and others prefer dance or something else. But if its a fit, its such a great activity!

family bathroom:ahavnes, that is so FUNNY. Landon has just started spanking our butts while trying to get dressed. Where do they come up w/ this stuff. He thinks it's so funny. I try to stay as private as possible, but it's just him and I during the week, so he's right there w/ me playing in my room while I'm showering and getting ready. He LOVES to bathe w/ dh and shower w/ him. Thinks it's the greatest thing. I'll let dh decide when it's time to stop doing that. ;)
potty: We have a potty, he plays w/ it a lot and knows what needs to happen w/ it. But, I'm not in any hurry until after the holidays, maybe. ;)
Here's the x-mas eve outfit I ordered for Landon from the gap:

Family bathroom: It's just DS and I all week, so he's w/ me in the bathroom all the time. I leave the door open when I have to go and when I shower. As soon as I say I have to potty he runs to the bathroom and when I turn the shower on, he's standing right next to the tub. I'm fine w/ it for now. I was thinking sometime betweeen his 2nd and 3rd birthday we'll start having more "private" potty time. DH is more modest than me and doesn't feel comfortable w/ DS in the bathroom w/ him.

geez, I'm like 5 pages behind...an attempt to catch up, sorry if I leave anyone/anything out...
rancherswife this is late, but I would have freaked about the pill on the floor too. I hope this week is better for you.
happy1 sorry about the family holiday drama, I hope you can "equalize" it.
Cynder we have the bouncing Tigger, DD used to be terrified of it, now she loves it.
clothing she still can wear some 6-12 months tops and pants (although the sleeves are a bit short and the pants are just starting to get short). 12-18 month is still the best size for her. The 18-24 mo tops sleeves are a bit long so I'm rolling them up and cuffin up pants.
nails I try to cut them once per week, but I can only do one hand per day b/c she won't sit and let me do both at once.
potty still haven't really thought about it. She doesn't even complain these days when she has a poopy diaper.
baby weight I lost most of it the first 6 months after DD was born b/c I was BF. Now I'm about 5lbs over pre-pg weight or so.
bathroom I try to shower in the AM before she gets up or during a nap b/c she really can't be trusted to be hanging out by herself. When I have to pee I leave the door open if it is just her and I. DH doesn't like her to see him naked so he closes the door.
memo I hope this week brings better sleeping for all...
Thanksgiving outfit I think she is wearing This dress (http://www.gymboree.com/shop/dept_item.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=3571627&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=3705465&bmUID=1163447237526&productSizeSelected=0) it is from Gymboree (Fun in the Snow line) but doesn't seem that "snowy" to me. It was 30% off so I went for it along with a matching bodysuit. It's not terribly "Thanksgivingy" but I liked it.

Thanksgiving outfit- I'm bidding on this right now on eBay:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/heatherroal/eb80_1.jpg
kim- I saw that sweater today- so cute! They also have it in red and once it goes on sale that baby is MINE! rancherswife- Love the hat and pants! Must. resist.
Shoes- 6/7, depending on the brand
Diapers- 5
Potty training- Can't even think about it until we get him off the bottle and eating real food.
Nudity/Privacy- I shower during his naps, but he's usually up when DH showers in the morning. We have a gate that keeps him out of the area, but every once in a while it's down while one of us is using the toilet and he'll come strolling in. Neither one of us minds though.
Smacking on the bum- James does this too! I'm pretty sure he learned it from daddy who pats mommy's bum every once in a while. It's not so funny when DS takes a whack at strangers as we pass them in stores though.
Baby weight- I lost about half of the baby weight, but have another 25 pounds to go. Pretty sure that I can't call it baby weight any more! So sad, but I'm pretty sure I've gained some since we've been here- the weather has been terrible so no long walks. Luckily, DH has gained too, in fact he made me postpone our holiday pics so he can try to lose some.
Nightmares/Separation Anxiety- Last night we had our first blip with sleeping since the first day we started putting him in his crib. He woke around 3:45 a.m. not crying but yelling for us. So I went in there, rocked him, sang to him, then put him back in his crib. He cried for about 2 minutes then fell asleep. Not sure if it was a nightmare or what; he seemed more angry than scared.

Shoe Size 4s but I think he might be a 5, need to remeasure
Diaper size 4 but only because 5 butt is too big
Kim I love that sweater because I got it! We bought that sweater for our photos. I'll post in LJ.
Nightmares/Sep Anx I had a coworker going through the same thing, and solved it with a nightlight. We've had one for ever but for those experiencing night wakings it's worth trying.
The other thing we did this weekend his push his bedtime later by half an hour. Oh my god! We've had solid sleeping until 7:00. I was so happy I could have cried.

Shoes - Size 7
Diapers - Size 4 (Pampers Cruisers)
I can't believe I forgot about this earlier but you know we did holiday photos this weekend. Oh.My.God....what a disaster!!! She refused to sit down for the pictures, wanted nothing to do with it. Kept trying to walk out of the room. We got one decent photo of the three of us (excuse me, 3 of us and Elmo....she would not let go of him!) and none of just her. How do you do studio pictures at this age??? I have never seen DH that close to just losing it, LOL. And since my plan is a holiday card picture of her, now I have to follow her around trying to get a good shot. We're not going to do studio pictures for awhile, totally a waste of time and money.

Diapers: Size 5 (Pampers Cruisers) I could have sworn I saw Huggies Overnights in Size 6 at the Commissary. I'll have to check because we can't live without those babies!
Shoes: We're all over the place...her lace-up Stride Rites are 3s and they still fit, her Stride Rite mary janes are 4s and she has 2 pairs of Target shoes that are 5s. Who knows. Depends on the shoe.
Bathroom/Privacy: Ryan and I bathe at night after Aidan's gone to bed so that's not an issue. Sometimes she goes with me to the bathroom, other times she ignores it and keeps on playing. On Sundays when we're getting ready for church, she alternates between my bathroom and Ryan's. She has a potty chair that we use at night before bathtime. She's peed in it twice and pooped in it once. We're not pushing it though. She woke up from a nap the other day with a bone-dry diaper so we put her on the potty and she peed. We made a big deal.
Big Mouth Kid: So tonight we were going to go to Golden Corral because they were having their "Military Eat Free" annual thing...yeah, the line was out the door and across the parking lot. So, we drove on to another buffet type place, they didn't take credit cards (huh? that's crazy!) SO, we wound up at Applebees. Aidan got her dinner and ate it like a big girl, even people around her were impressed with how mature and "big girl-like" she was being. Yeah, then our food got to us and she decided that she needed to scream at the top of her lungs. Ryan got so embarrassed and irritated with her that he took her outside, had me box his food up, finish my dinner and pay the check. How the heck do we break her of this screaming? It's not crying screaming it's just screaming for the heck of it. Shrill, blood-curdling screaming. So not fun.

Sasha: I feel your pain -- exact same experience that we had. Ugh.
Alicia: Thanks for the matchy matchy PJ recommendation :)
Bathroom/Privacy: We shower after he goes to bed. In the morning he gets DS ready while I get ready then he gets ready after we leave. Unfortunately, he can open the doors in the house now and can let himself into the bathroom. DH and I discussed this topic this weekend. We are not pushing Potty Training. I think he'll start to show some interest after moving up to the next room at school where they start talking about it, etc.
No bum smacking yet!

All of this was started with a coughing fit at 11:30. I'm taking him to the ped this afternoon. He has not been getting nearly enough sleep b/c he wakes himself early coughing and doesn't go back to sleep! Dammit! The kid totally knows what a potty is. I was under the assumption that since he never played in it (thank god) or showed any interest in it when playing in the bathroom, that he had no clue. Nope, totally knows what the potty. We're not going to actively train but it looks like we might get a potty chair. Apparently DH was potty trained by this time. I so have no time for this.
Alicia I am cyndermama on LJ.
tgray yikes, we've been there! On Sunday ate and acted like a perfect gentleman (not a crumb on the floor) but near the end he just started yelling AT THE TOP OF HIS LUNGS. It was fantasic.
No idea on how to stop but I would try alot of redirection and verbalizing what a quiet voice is. Once he stops yelling and is semi listening, we try to make up a whispering game. Doesn't always work though.

Diaper - 4 day and just switched to Huggies overnight 5's that seem to be working great.
Pictures/Sasha - Could you find someone to come to your home? That is what we did and got some great shots because Jack was in his element!

Diapers - Size 4. I think he's ready for size 5, but I'm resisting because I don't want to pay the same price for fewer diapers!
Holiday Photo - worked on it this weekend and managed one good one out of about 30 tries. I uploaded a crop of it into my Avatar...I'll get the whole photo uploaded one of these days.
Holiday Clothes - I was SOOOOO close to buying this outfit from Target last night....but passed thinking I really should check out what I have first.

Lo and behold, we have a gift from eons ago that is an adorable sweater/slacks combo...totally forgot about it! Nice to know I'm not out $22!
Sleep - generally been good. Although this morning he was up at 5:30 AM - DH got up with him for a nice change. I'm not worried about the memo resurfacing here....we had it for over 3 months and I simply won't allow it to enter the house again.
Bathroom Time - Family naked time here. I wasn't too bothered by it up until yesterday when I noticed James really checking out my parts after I showered. Now, I'll just cover up faster with my towel/robe.
TV - Several of you have mentioned DC watching TV. What are they watching? James doesn't watch TV at all. Granted, children's programming doesn't really meet up with our schedule (Sesame Street is on at 8 AM, when we're out of the house). I would love to be able to turn on the TV on one of those early Saturday mornings when he feels that 6 AM is an appropriate waking time.

Forgot to add..
Holiday Photos We did ours with a photographer at our house and they sucked and now we're out $$$ for the sitting fee. Because we wanted a shot with us and the dog we just could not get DS to sit still. Pictures of just him were okay. I'm probably only going to do my own shots.
TV We do DVDs during nail cutting and when a distraction is needed during a tantrum or when we need to get something done (cooking/yardwork). Elmo and Blues Clues are the only ones that can hold his attention for more than 5 minutes. I'm still not comfortable with how passive TV watching is at this age so we're still restricting but not hardcore. We also do DVDs on early Sat mornings in our room occasionally mostly so we can get some cuddle time because it's a rare moment awake and semi alone.
My SIL is sending us a bunch of old Wiggles DVDs for our nightly dance party. So far he's not into their CDs much.
Thanks for the bathroom time feedback.

Pictures/Sasha - Could you find someone to come to your home? That is what we did and got some great shots because Jack was in his element!
I wish I could, especially since I know a lot of photographers because of my job, but I just don't have the time! Every weekend from now until like mid-December has something going on. But it would be a great idea.
Alicia/LJ - I signed up for LJ once upon a time but then had no clue how to maneuver around there. I'll have to go check it out again, and maybe friend some of you guys....although I don't even remember now what my LJ name is! :o
TV - Usually when I need to get something done, like get dressed in the morning or get dinner ready. It's Elmo all the way, although she will watch some Barney in the morning with daddy while I get ready (on at 7am on Sprout). I try not to use TV too much, but we are having a tough time because she loooooooves Elmo. Major tantrums ensue when she wants Elmo and I don't put it on. I think the problem stemmed from 2 long car trips that we did, where we used the portable DVD and played lots of Elmo to keep her occupied. So we are paying the price now, unfortunately.
Family Bathroom - DH usually is home in the mornings so he watches her while I shower, but as soon as she hears the shower turn off, she rushes into the bathroom. And when DH showers, she does the same thing. She can open doors now, so there isn't much stopping her. Neither DH nor I really don't mind because she doesn't seem to noticed body parts yet.
Eating Question - How long does your DC go from afternoon snack until dinner? Sarah gets her snack at daycare at 3:00 and by 6:00 she MUST eat dinner. I mean is freaking out to eat. Sometimes I try to give her a small snack at 5:30, when we get home, but she isn't always interested in or it will then mess with her eating dinner. So, how long in between snack and dinner?

PM Snack: DS gets his at 3:30 and we try to eat around 5:30. However, if he doesn’t like what they are dishing out at school that day he is gnawing his arm off by the time dinner is ready. When we get home, 3 out of 5 days he goes to the 'fridge and asks for a piece of cheese. That seems to hold him over.
TV: Very limited and >90% is on the weekends. We just don’t have it on in the evenings when we get home and if we do it’s on SportsCenter :) On weekends we usually turn on Noggin or Sprout while he has his milk and snack (He loves Jack’s Big Music Show, Play w/Me Sesame and Wiggles). Beyond that, we are a big sports house so he sees a lot of football but could care less about sitting and watching it. I’m going to try hard to not lean on the DVD in the car too much on our trip to and from PA next week.
Speaking of the trip….does anyone have any new ideas for car toys? He has his beloved Leap Fridge DJ and I’m thinking of taking his Leap fridge animal thing and trying to rig up a way for him to play with that (possibly a cookie sheet?). We will have tons of books and puzzles too. Has anyone stumbled upon anything else new and exciting?

Our Day: Since today was an early dismissal day at my school I figured I'd bring Aidan with me to work instead of having to go pick her up in the middle of naptime. She did so well. She loved on the kids, played with the one who is not in a wheelchair, played with the toys and ate lunch with them. It was absolutely precious and I'm kicking myself for not bringing my camera. She was not intimidated by the kids' spacticity or drooling or yelling outbursts (she has plenty of those on her own!) or wheelchairs, she looked past it and saw just another kid. She called them all babies and gave them all hugs. So sweet. Reminded me of the song lyric "In my daughter's eyes, everyone is equal." This is why I'm glad I'm getting into this field, so Aidan will grow up seeing these kids as just kids, not something to stare at or make fun of.

psusna- Sorry about the rough night!
TV- I've started to really cut back on DS' tv time. He used to have DVDs going in his room all the time, but I would find him in there zoning out too often for my liking. Unfortunately he's obsessed with that show that I've mentioned a few time ("Brum") and every time he goes into the living room he grabs the remote, points it at the tv, and starts going "uh uh uh" or even saying "brum brum".
Snack/Dinner- This is a hard one because James never really asks to eat. except for Fruit Loops and Earth's Best cookies, so we kind of have to just keep offering him food. He usually eats lunch between 12:30-1:00 p.m., then eats dinner at around 5-5:30-6. I've found that letting him snack between meals has no bearing on whether he'll eat dinner- it's a guessing game every night to see if he'll eat. As an aside, I'll say that I never ever thought that James would be difficult in the eating department because DH and I LOVE to eat!!!
Christmas- We're pretty much done with James. His big gift is a Brum pedal car that we won on eBay:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/heatherroal/brumkid.jpg
We also got him some big Legos, a couple of smaller car toys, and some books. I feel like I'm missing something else that I got him, but I can't remember. My SIL is getting him a grocery basket with large sized food and his grandparents are getting him big cardboard blocks and a wagon.
ETA: tgray99- That's great that she did so well!

Wow, I had no idea so many people were on Lj!! Looks like I've been missing out. ;) (My username there is miamimouse)
Holiday Photos: Crap. I just booked ours yesterday. Oh well. SIL gave us a certificate for Picture People (for Abbey's b-day!) so I may as well use it. Keeping my fingers crossed.
TV- Yup. We have another Elmo fan in our midst. Just like Sasha said, Abbey will have a major meltdown if I don't turn on "Mo Mo" for her. She even climbs the stairs to the tv while chanting his name. I think this stems from the fact that Daddy is a big fan of turning the tv on when Abs is cranky. I've been trying to limit it to just the 45 mins. in the morning that it takes for me to get ready. Even that is more than I would like, but I can't handle the stress of getting ready and having Abbey screaming while holding my legs. :o
Snack and Dinner- Abbey has a little snack around 4pm after she gets up from her nap and then has dinner around 6:30. She seriously isn't into dinner though. She eats a decent breakfast, a huge lunch, and little dinner.
psusna- Sounds like the memo has made it's way over to Jack. Sorry! If it helps, that sounds like our nights here too for the last 2 weeks or so.
tgray- What a sweet story! I'm so glad everything went well.

tgray - How wonderful!!
Holiday photos - We're going to Whistler, BC this weekend and we're hoping to get some good shots of Avery for Holiday cards. In my dreams, we'll take pictures of her in the process of 'making' a snowman and put 2-3 of them on a montage card :D. We also get group, studio pictures with my sister's kids (for the grandparents).
TV - Disney Channel in the AM here, but she still pretty much pays attention to the TV only if/when there is singing involved.
Holiday Gifts - Plush rocking horse, toddler arm chair, IKEA table and chair set (I plan on painting the table top with chalkboard paint), maybe a few stuffed animals for the stocking.
Bathroom - I gate off the room outside of the bathroom and she runs around freely while I shower. She used to insist on maintaing a visual with me by standing between the shower curtain and the liner , but she seems to understand that I'm not disappearing forever when I pop in the shower. As for using the toilet, when I announce that I'm going potty she races in there ahead of me. Then I get the Spanish Inquisition...PeePee?? Poop? Toot? Paper?? ;). If she doesn't join me, she'll stand there pounding on the door the whole time and who can go under conditions like that ;).

I had the big u/s this morning and Avery is getting a little brother!! :D

Snack and Dinner - Jack gets his last snack at 3:00ish at school and by the time I pick him up he is signing and saying eat the entire way home. I try to hold him out until 5:30 so my husband can join us but sometimes it is not possible. He does love the wait sign (I call it jazz hands) but that will only hold him over slightly.
TV - We still don't watch any and trying to hold out until he is 2. Football is on during the day on Sundays but he just points ball and it doesn't really capture his attention.
psusna - I bought these tiny magnda doodles, probably about 3X5 that Jack digs in the car, found them at Target. He also gets a big kick out of putting the sun visors down and spotting him in the mirror, could pass 15-20 minutes at least!
diedra - YEAH A BOY!! How exciting saw you post on LJ which made me come over here!

Diedra Congrats!!!
TV
Jack LOVES "Diego" (calls him GoGo) and Elmo (calls him MoMo). I try to limit his tv watching to an episode of Diego when we get home in the evening and some Play With Me Sesame in the morning before we leave.
We are actually going to see Elmo Live! in December. I'm not sure how much of it Jack will be into at this point. It's a bunch of friends and their kids going. We pretty much have the whole aisle to ourself so he can run up and down and dance and such. We'll see!
Dinner/Snack
We get home everyday about 5:30. Soon as we walk in Jack walks over to the pantry and picks a snack. Usually goldfish or carrot flavored Wagon Wheels. He eats dinner about 6:15ish. Bed between 7:30 and 8:00.
CONGRATS Diedra!

He'll watch a little of the normal ss but is pretty pissy until "Elmo's World" song comes on. He's also into one DVD, "Elmo's Potty Time", we've tried others and he just won't have it. I think it's going to be a very "elmo" x-mas at our house! ;)
tgray: That is so greta Aidan interacted so well w/ your students. Warmed my heart. :) I have an 8 year old nephew who has CP due to being born prematurely, he is the most amazing kid. He brings tears to our eyes constantly. Dh and I are so thankful for having Tanner in our family, Landon adores him and climbs ALL OVER his wheelchair, pushes him around by the wheels and everything. I think that by having Tanner in Landon's life from day one, Landon will never think twice about kids w/ special needs, he's just another playmate to him.

Wow! This thread has been busy today!
Wendstress~Love the new avatar! Very cute!
Carissa~I traded in Pampers points for the Dora Talking Backpack and Buenos Nochas Dora for DD's Christmas gifts. :D I bet you are get so anxious for baby Noah to make his debut!
TV~We still very rarely let DD watch TV, but when I do I put in a Baby Einstein video. I've let her watch a Dora video, too, but she gets bored with them about 15 minutes in!
Eating~DD usually eats between 3:30 & 4:00 when she wakes up. Then she is fussing by 5:30 when DH gets home for more food.
tgray~Awwww! That is just precious!
Speaking of bathroom time, DD has become obsessed with my perfume. If she see's me spritzing myself, she runs over sniffing the air, so I'll spritz her as well!
Diedra~That would be a darling card!! You'll have to let us know if you get it or not! Congrats on the little boy!!!

Its all from Gap, I ordered it from Gap.com but I know I saw the sweater in the store (BTW the 2T looks much bigger than the weight/height chart indicates...I got 18-24mo).
And of course, it is much more important that my kid be stylin' than I be married. Priorities, priorities! ;)

Kim - I'm going to go with Girl, too. I was just reading a study on-line today that said something like 60% of mothers with extreme M/S were carrying girls. Odds are certainly stacked in your favor!
We have our big U/S TOMORROW! I'm leaning towards girl for myself, but it's like 51/49.... I won't be suprised at all if it is another boy. I'm definitely carrying differently this time (I'm almost 20 weeks PG and can still comfortably fit in my jeans - wasn't the case with James), and there have been some other differences, too. We'll find out soon enough!
TV - thanks for all the suggestions about what the kids are watching. I think we'll ask Santa (aka Grandmas) for a couple DVD's for those Saturdays when James wants to wake at 6 AM!
Oh, and I finally uploaded our Christmas Card Picture:

Wendstress: I really like your picture. Is that real snow?
Tgray: Aidan is sweet. I hope she continues to feel that way about your students.
Diedra: Congrats on your boy!
TV: We don't let him watch, but the couple of times we turned it on, he had no interest.
Eating: Asher can go HOURS on very little food, and as verbal as he is, doesn't usually tell us if he's hungry. Yesterday all he ate before his dinner at 7:00 PM was a piece of cheese and some grapes. I offered him food ALL day. DH took him to Chipotle for dinner and reported that he ate well. Yeah, I should hope so.
DST has made my kid a real night owl. It's 10:30 here, and he's wide awake. He napped from 2:40 until I woke him at 5:40, so I guess he's still not tired yet. I'd like to get ready for bed myself, but no chance of that until Asher's asleep. *sigh* I was walking him in the stroller while he napped, so he got a break, but I didn't.

It's very weird. Seems like his whole internal clock shifted two hours forward a few weeks ago. He used to go to bed at 9:00 PM, wake at 7:00 AM and nap around 11:00 AM. Now suddenly, it's bed at 10:30ish, wake at 9:00ish, nap at 2:30ish. Very strange. I'd wake him earlier, but I like sleeping until 9:00. :o I'm hoping he shifts backwards again on his own soon.
He's *still* up (it's 11:00), so we may have to get more, um, insistent that he sleep.

We have hand and foot disease. Gross. Actually, you can barely tell he has it but there's an outbreak at the center. So we're home. This sucks because I really can't take him anywhere. He's actually in a decent mood. I'm hoping to go for a long walk (avoiding our playground). We might hit the store and get an early christmas gift of mega blocks since we can't go out and play with others.
Sweater Rancher we got the sweater in the store but it was like the last one.
Gifts We're getting the PB chair with his name and mega blocks. I'm predicting toy insanity from the rest of the family so I'm setting up a book wish list on Amazon and a plea for nothing with batteries.

Rancherswife and Dreshny - glad you like the photo! Yes, it is real snow. Wisconsin got about 2-3 inches last weekend. It's all melted now (was actually melted later the day I took the photo).
QOTD - Cold Weather - For those of you dealing with cold weather (cold nights), how are you covering up DC at night? During the summer, I didn't cover him at all. Now, I am using a crib sized comforter tucked securely in at the foot of the bed. It seems to be working pretty well. He moves so much while he sleeps that any smaller blanket he would wiggle out of before midnight!

Wendstress - Adorable photo, I love that hat!
Diedra - Congrats on the boy!
Kim - I'm predicting girl too, because for me, being that sick meant a girl.

wendstress good luck at your Big U/S and what a great picture - with snow and all!
Cynder sorry to hear DS has HFMD, no fun! Hopefully he stays "not too crabby".
kim I'm prediciting GIRL as well.
holiday photos/Sasha I'm sorry it was such a nightmare! I took DD for 18 month shots and she spent 1/2 the time trying to run away. I then took her with her 3 cousins (14 years/10 yrs/5 mos) for a group shot and she barely cooperated for that as well. The studio did get a few pics of her with Xmas props (large ball ornament/large snowflake) although that wasn't why I was there (she really isn't in a Holiday outfit) but those props were what kept her amused. I might use one of them or attempt my own. The studio prices are just so expensive for cards...
snack she usually has it after her nap around 3 or 4 and dinner at 5 or 6.
thxgiving outfits loving them all!
tv She watches Signing Time, Sesame Street, sometimes Barney and Boobah. She now points to the TV and yells Boohbah (BTW I do not really understand this show but she loves parts of it. I sometimes have Sprout on while I'm cooking dinner but she really only pays attention to the above, oh and Noddy too.
LJ I hope all of you don't move over there, I just don't have time for another site!
xmas gifts my parents are getting her a play kitchen from Costco. we got her a grocery cart, some wood puzzles (like what Cynder posted), I'm planning on getting the Ikea Table and Chairs too. I want to get her a doll and stroller but since I found the grocery cart (it has the seat for the baby) I might wait on the toy stroller until her B'Day. Oh and I got the Fridge Phonics too.
playroom what does everyone have for a playroom/space? Since we are buying these large toys I'm trying to decide what to do. Right now we mainly hang out in the livingroom which is gated off. Her room is large but we have a double bed in there with the crib, dresser/changing table, bookcase, glider etc. So the play space is limited. I can either remove the double bed or clean out our home office and have an office/playroom.
Is it better to have her room for mainly "sleeping/relaxing" rather than also a lot of play? I need to clean out the office I have a bazillion boxes with stuff that I have to find a place for/throw out.
new words well Signing Time taught her "happy" she said and signed it the same day. Yesterday she saw a big yellow happy face on a grocery bag and said "happy, happy" - I found it intersting b/c I've never told her about "happy faces". She also said "bicycle" this week and will say "a" and "b" when I sign those letters.
phew...I think I covered it all....

Wendstress: Good Luck with the big u/s!
Playroom: Ever since we created his nursery, I’ve been really adamant about his room being for sleep/relaxation. He has books and a few stuffed animals in there and that’s it. We turned our formal living room into a childproofed playroom last January. Since we are 99% sure that DS will be an only child, I donate his toys to his school as he outgrows them or lend them to friends. When he moves into a big boy bed, we are changing our guest room into his room and making the nursery into the new guest room/office for me!! That room will have a bookcase and room for toy storage as well, just to keep it out of his bedroom and make sure that the playroom isn’t over stimulating (a current problem I am having). I really wish our house had a basement, that would solve the problem of having the playroom be the first thing people see when they walk into the house.
New words: DH and I are 99% sure he told us “I don’t know” last night when asking him which puzzle piece was yellow. He’s all about green right now as that is what they are working on in school. Everything is green.
We are cheap :) To help DS learn his colors we took him to Home Depot over the weekend and let him pick out paint chips from their Disney paint section. The paint sample is in the shape of the mouse ears, which we figured was more interesting for him than just a colored square. We got all of the colors of the rainbow. He carries them around, flipping through them naming the colors, lines them up, talks to them, etc. :) I’m thinking about making a bulletin board for the above mentioned playroom that is about colors but using Velcro so he can match his Mickey’s to the correct colors.

Alien~No worries! I mainly just keep my journal over there since it's more private!
Playroom~We use our dining room. Since it's just the three of us, the table is set up in the breakfast nook in the kitchen, and her toys are scattered about the dining room! Her room is primarily for sleeping, but we do have a bookshelf and stuffed animals in her room for some play.
psusna~Cool idea for the color bulletin board! We are using the book "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" to teach DD colors!

Oh. My. GOSH! Abbey is still crying in her crib. Take a nap child! :o
Playroom- Luckily, our home has a large gameroom upstairs with plenty of room for Abbey's toys. We also keep just a few toys and books in our living room downstairs, but we don't spend that much time in there. She also has her own cupboard in the kitchen for while I'm cooking, etc. Oh, and a stash of toys in our bathroom for while I'm changing. Hmmm, I guess every room is Abbey's playroom! :)
Weather- It's 65, sunny and WINDY here (40 mph!!). At night I put her in a fleece footed pj set if it's cold. That usually does the trick. A blanket is a joke.

I cover her with a cotton blanket but it is usually balled up in the corner of the crib when I check on her and I'm too afraid to put it back on in fear of waking her....we haven't been doing fleece sleepers b/c it irritates her skin and she rubs her arms on her face. kimthebride you had a thread about warm PJs - did you find any you like? cynder: Thanks, I'll have to check out our local store to see if they have any, I haven't ordered it online yet, didn't get a chance to last night. Sorry ds has hfm disease, no fun! Hope he feels better soon.
k, off to try and get some stuff done while Landon naps!hmm...or maybe I'll nap w/ him. ;)

playroom We have a extra bedroom that we are not using so we have almost all of their toys up there. However we do have toys in our living room in a toy box and a few toys in our dinning room as well. I keep telling DH that we need to start working on the basement so we can put all their toys in the playroom that we hope to have oneday.
new words she is finally starting to say more..she just stated with thank you and backpack.
Those in Florida whats the weather been like? I am getting ready to head down there and was wonder what i have to look forward to since it suppose to get cold here.

playroom: Landon has 2 toy boxes in our big great room, a window seat in his bedroom that has toy storage, toys in our bedroom, his bathroom, in a drawer in the kitchen..you name it, he's got toys there, about the only place in our house that Landon doesn't have toys is in Reece's room. He pretty much has full run of the entire house! ;)
location recognition: We have started to notice that Landon knows his way around town pretty well. It's hysterical. He starts yelling "Nani, Poppy" when we get ready to turn down their street, the other day, we passed by my moms office (where we rarely drive by or go to) and he starts yelling "Nani," today, I took him to my dads work, before we even turned the corner, he was shouting "Poppy!" It just caught me off guard at first. I guess he really is paying attention to all the places I drag in to! :) Smarty kid! ;)

We're having a BOY!
Baby Boy evidently is enjoying being very low. The tech said he's curled up right against my pelvic bone (I could tell) with plenty of uterus to spare. He is also enjoying my placenta, as he buried his face in it during the entire U/S. We did get an OK picture, but not nearly as clear as with James. Hard to tell if there are similarities, because the pictures aren't as comparable.
Dr. C. did a swab for BV today, and it was negative. Good news. BV (bacteria vaginosis) can lead to pPROM, which is what I experienced with James. Not that we know if I had BV during PG#1, but just trying to rule things out. I'll start with progesterone injections at week 24.
While I'm at penis-overload at the moment, it is starting to sink in. I was feeling pretty pink, but so much for mother's intuition! In the long run, it really doesn't matter!
My mother still thinks we're joking with her - she wanted a girl SO BAD! (She sent me a dozen pink roses on Monday!) But I pointed out, now she'll have 2 fishing buddies!
The most important thing is that everything looked good! Can't believe we are halfway already!

I love the thought of Landon having a brother to grow up w/ so close in age. And...there's always #3...right??? ;) Congrats again. It's hilarious how many boys are being born in 2007!!! CRAZY!!!
Are there any RO's in our thread that aren't expecting a boy??? I'll have to go to the first page and check!

Wendstress: Hooray for another BOY! I hear you on penis-overload, but like rancherswife said, thinking about two little boys growing p together is so fun. Plus...little boys love their mommies!
Playroom: Collin has free run of the house. The only rooms he doesn't have toys in are the master bedroom and Brady's room.

Well, add me to the ro's list having BOYS... I was sooo sure it was a girl, it really threw me for a loop. I am sooo dreading finding a name for this lil one...boys names were soooo hard last time. We're looking for a more uncommon long name that has a more common nickname (if anyone can think of a name besides joseph that nicknames to Joe, PLEASE share)... and, it should go well with dominic or nic, but not be rhym-y or too cutesy, and... if it has any nationality affiliation, it should be italian. Can you see why we had such a hard time with nic's name? (ANd...WHY OH WHY...did I name the dog luc????
OK...nic's being a pita...so back later...

I almost forgot. I wasn't going to post this here, but could really use some good vibes and or prayers. I am going to the hospital today to have a diagnostic mammogram and sonogram. I found a lump in my breast doing a self exam. Yup. And I am only 30. My OB feels it's nothing to worry about, but still wants the tests done. Honestly, I am not worried, but could use all they prayers you ladies have got. Thanks so much!

I too am thinking very healthy, no-bad-new thoughts for you!
If it helps at all, my friend went through the same thing at about 31. I took her to the hospital to have her mammogram, and she left with a perfectly clean bill of health. I look at these scares as good reminders that we all need to keep poking around to make sure we're taking care of ourselves. :) Good luck.
BTW I love all the talk about playrooms. Not exactly an option here in apartment-land. ;) I fantasize about having one in our new house, whenever that happens....I covet the Pottery Barn Kids magazines and drool over the playroom organization and ideas they have!

Yep, I do have a long list...I'm mildly obsessive compulsive about it! ;) However, almost all of them have a Celtic/Gaelic influence so I'm no help here. Sorry! Congrats on the boys, ladies! I'm jealous, I want a boy of my own and between my going back to school and Ryan deploying for a year, I have no idea when I'll get one.

I found a lump in high school and went to the doctor. I was completely freaked out and then freaked out even more when my insurance wouldn't pay for a mammogram for a teenager. So, they did an ultrasound and found out that the lump I found (and the others I didn't) were fluid filled cysts and completely harmless. Mine get aggrevated by caffeine and hurt. I hope that's what the situation is for you. Sending you good thoughts!

Thank you all again for the well-wishes. I will definitely keep you posted as to the results. :)
Tara- That's funny, my doctor did tell me to cut out caffeine and to take vitamin E daily to see if it would make the lump disappear. So far, no luck. Although I admit, I haven't completely cut out the caffeine. ;) I still have half a cup of coffee in the morning, or I couldn't function.

Well, the lack of caffeine thing only makes mine less inflamed and not hurt. Of course, not drinking caffeine makes my headache so a sore boob is easier for me to deal with than a pounding head.

jmvan/roseanne ~ Thanks for the suggestions! I LOVE Salvatore -- that's actually my dad's middle name and is my current choice...unfortunately dh HATES it with a passion... (sigh)... and, I also love Anthony, but my brother is Tony so that's out... I am really loving michalangelo as joe though. I NEVER would have made that jump, but looking at it now -- I can't see why I didn't.... Hoping DH goes for it... (and that could be mike or joe...double score!!) (I'm just sooo hard to please, arent I.... but I LOVE the suggestions. THANKS)
Toys: We don't really have a playroom... but we do have toys in EVERY room. He has his own cabinet in the kitchen (yeah, cause mama didn't have sparse enough cabinet space without Nic's cabinet...) - he has his toy bins in the family room, and thats where we spend most of our time. He has a toy corner in the den and the bottom bookshelf in the bookcases is his. He's not allowed in the dining room so nothing there for him... His nursery has a toy basket as well, although we don't really play in there (thats where I stuck all the dust catching stuffed animals that he wouldn't play with anyway)
Yeah...so really, the whole house is his. Even the bathrooms have toys for him (He has a drawer in the downstairs bath, and the upstairs bathtub is full of tub toys...)
:)
Nic turns 18 months tomorrow... I just went to click into the general family boards... We're moving up to the middle set...HOW can that be????????? wow...

Well, I haven't been posting here as regular as I should have been. Sorry about that. Things have gotten rather busy at our house. DH is working a ton of overtime and I'm pretty much left to deal with everything around the house (keeping it up, cooking dinner - when and if I feel up to it and sometimes that isn't very often....I'm a bad mommy and wife :( , and dealing with my parents).
Last week I had a few days of on and off contractions. So now more carrying DD for the rest of the pregnancy. I've also had to limit the time I can be on my feet. Don't want to go into premature labor. So it doesn't look like I'll be escaping the bedrest with this pregnancy either. Must be in the cards for me to be pregnant and deal with bedrest at some point (although I'd already been on it a while during the first trimester when I was having bleeding issues). DH celebrated his 40th birthday this past week.
alicia ~ Sorry to hear about bad news. Sending you good thoughts. I'm very watchful of myself due to a strong family history of breast cancer (grandma, 2 aunts all had breast cancer and mastectomies and my mom (and grandma) has fibrocystic breast and another aunt had benign tumor removed a couple of years ago).
Tara ~ You'll get your little boy (hopefully) one day. That's one thing about the military....don't ever count on anything until it's written in stone and even then it can change.
happy1 ~ Congrats on another little boy!
Playrooms ~ We don't have a room just for toys. I wish we did though. Right now most of the toys are in DD's room in a big basket that I had my toys in when I was little. I did have a few out in the living room but moved them back to her room a little while back. Usually a few (or more) find their way out to the living room during each day. My dream is that when they are little older and can manage stairs really good their playroom will be downstairs (tons of room down there and I won't have to worry when someone comes by that it's a total disaster around here - usually resembles something like a natural disaster around here. I'm trying to change that but I have no energy and can't bend over very easily these days.).

It's so weird that you mention this because with all the ROs around here, my baby fever is kicking into overdrive. I WANT A BABY!! I'm thinking that since I won't be student teaching next fall I can just go ahead...I have to convince Ryan of this. I'm prepared to deal with the possibility of his being deployed during the pregnancy and birth...I'm ready for another baby! This morning at church they baptized a baby boy and he was the cutest, pudgiest little thing I swear it kicked my ovaries into overdrive! To top it all off, I talked to my MIL on Friday night and she told me that I'm next to get pregnant and that it'll happen soon...she's fairly clairvoyant so I trust her. I'm just ready to get on with it!
