So my 4 month old puppy lost a tooth today, he was just standing there and out it came.

Is there anything i need to do, i realize this is the time for it to be happening, i just want to make sure i am doing everything i should be doing.

Nope, nothing you need to be doing. You may want to get some teething stuff for him; there's lots of toys designed especially for teething puppies. Things you can freeze are good because they help soothe his gums. Just be careful, though--my pup's a big chewer and she destroyed most of the "teething" toys we got her. :)

That's totally normal! em1126 gave you some great suggestions- expect teething until 6 months or so.

It's fine and normal!

I have a funny story about this. When I first got Jade (our cat) I wasn't sure if kittens had baby teeth or lost teeth. She was sitting on my desk while I was looking up info about this online. All of the sudden, she starts shaking her head and sticking her tongue out - then pop! - one of her little fangs falls out! :p By the end of the day, I could see the tip of her new tooth coming in. I saved her little tooth for a while, too.

Thanks for the advice, jnettie, i was going to save the tooth, and then my DH said, "What For, so you can show him later". I conceded, and threw it away. I told Diego (my pup), that the tooth fairy was coming tonight. LOL

Lol! I'm glad I'm not the only one who wanted to do that. ;) I showed a few people, and then finally tossed the tooth out. It just never occured to me that animals would loose their baby teeth until I had my first pet as an adult.

I saved some of my pups' baby teeth. And their first puppy collars, which are bracelet sized and first little puppy sweaters which are the size of doll clothes. Now they are both 80+, I like to remeber when they weighed less than 8!
