My longhair cat has a fleece-lined sponge bed, sort of like this:

It is impossible to clean! I take a lint roller to it before running it through the washing machine. Then I have to clean my washing machine, and, since most of the hair is still stuck in the fleece, pick it off the bed by hand.

Any better ideas? It wasn't that expensive, so I could just get a new one, but I'd prefer a more environmentally responsible solution.

Well, how about vacuuming? Would that work?

Oh, yeah, vacuuming! My vacuum has a wonderful upolstery attachment that does wonders on cat hair! If you can suck it all up before laundering it, that would help a lot.

Yeah. I do have a Dyson, but I don't think that brand is necessary (although I love it!). Just try to get as much off first with whatever upholstery tool you have and then was the rest, rinsing twice.

Duh! Vacuuming! I will give that a whirl. Thanks. :p
