Can I join?

I started last week and had my first official weigh in today. I am down 4 lbs. I have about 35 more to lose. I really want to stick with it this time, I think this is the 3rd time I've joined.

Reading up on everyone is very motivating!

From one newbie too another, welcome newbies:D May we all be losers together.

Quick dumb question. If by chance, someone happened to be up at 2 in the morning snacking on Trader Joes Rice Crackers and an egg beater w/2% american cheese on WW whole grain bread sandwich while watching Top Chef :o, would that be added to yesterday's tracker or today's? Hypothetical situation of course:cool:

Hey girls
If any of you ladies to go Applebee's once in a while and you like Salmon you have to have the Honey Grilled Salmon I am not crazy about the WW menu they ahve to chose that last Fri and loved it. I looked up the nutritional info online and calculated it on WW.com and itis 12 pts for the dinner. I think I will start having that once every two weeks :)

Just a tip if you like fish ;)

I just rejoined WW. I quit while pregnant and now I have to lose the pregnancy weight and everything between conception and goal weight. *sigh*

I think I need to lose around 50 pounds! Yikes!

This exercise thing is helping, I guess, because I lost 3.4 pounds this week. I'm truly amazed because I ate at Red Robin Thursday night, and I wasn't exactly good!

Starting weight: 179.6
Current weight: 145.2
Total lost: 34.4

chefker - Congrats on the great loss! You'll be at goal before you know it. :)

brenda, juliak - welcome!

rene - great loss!

IrishEyes - what are the most WW friendly GS cookies?

wildcat - congrats on your loss!

MES - Awesome job!

JennW - How'd your WI go?

Foley - good luck being OP this week!

Katy - fantastic job losing in the holiday season! That's a feat for sure. :) Now that it's over, I'm sure the weight is going to slide right off of you.

cheryll - congrats on maintaining!

Ruby- GL losing! And if you're nursing, make sure you are allowing extra points for yourself. I think I read that if you're not EBF, you add two points for each nursing session.

Ladies - I have trouble some days getting all my points in - despite eating a lot more than I used to. I'm eating more veggies and fruits and less crap food. So, do I eat crap food just to reach my points? Do I just not worry about the extra points? Or do you have some good for you foods that are high in points that I could eat when I know I'm not going to hit my points?

JennW

Hey there! I lost two pounds my first week! I know it's not as most as many people but it is something!:)

Jenny - I am having a difficult time with it too. I am usually a few points away. I'll have some fruit or veggies or pretzels or something like that. Also the FF puddings are two points and a good snack. I've just been trying to have more high point but high quality points at my meals to make up the points. I may drop a point or two for this week. Not to go against WW, but it just seems to be too much to eat! Like you said, I am eating for the sake of finishing my points even if I'm not hungry and that just seems silly!

Katy
01-13-2007, 02:53 PM
Jenny, I'm still in the high points range myself and I often have times eating all of my points (I can't even imagine how I'd eat more still with those extra BF points thrown in!) So far, I haven't gone to LF/NF cheeses or dressings, I only drink Skim (2%), and I still have a drink or two :o Not the best plan, but it works. On days I work out, I try to add in extra protein and fruit. I've had folks mention adding in some nuts to use up those points (in a good way). The biggest mistake is to do what I was doing early on...eating CRAP to make up my extra points. Maybe add in an extra bowl of cereal (or add some cereal to yogurt or whatever). It's a start.

Exactly! That's the way you have to look at it :)

I glanced at my chart and it seems that AF will be arriving this week, I hoping there is some water retention and that's why I didn't lose as much as I expected :)

sue - If you stay OP all this week, I bet you'll have a good loss next WI. :)

I hope so!! And to really annoy me, I didn't eat any of my flex points at all last week! I just wasn't hungry for them.

Although, I don't know how well I'll be staying OP tonight. We're going to a steakhouse for dinner to celebrate my b-day on Tuesday. I figure if we go early enough in the week and I REALLY kick up the exercise, it won't be too bad next WI :p I just have to remember not to eat a whole basket of bread ;)

jennylou
01-14-2007, 10:08 AM
We went to Texas Roadhouse last week. Somehow, I managed to skip the bread entirely. It's so yummy, but I knew that they add up (point wise) way too cook.

It was a good meal, and I made as many wise choices as I could - only problem, I didn't have any idea of where I fell points wise because they don't give out nutritional info. So, just make as good of choices as you can (but splurge a little, it is your birthday!). :)

Congrats on all the losers this week. I totally agree, a loss is a loss no matter how big or small. I am doing well with WW- I love it! I have kicked up my walking a notch and I am spending so much time outside of the house that I rarely snack anymore.

For me, the past (almost two weeks- Tuesday will be the end of week 2) two weeks have taught me that I tend to snack in the afternoon after DD wakes up. I now have a snack sized bag of popcorn and I feel full until dinner. I have still been able to have my wine with dinner which I normally would have had to give up on other diets.

I am actually looking forward to jumping on the scale on Tuesday morning....

Thanks for all the support you girls give- it helps with the motivation!

Chylynn
01-14-2007, 10:30 AM
Oh, and Sue- go enjoy yourself--it is your birthday! Just try to make somewhat wise decisions and splurge a little at the same time. If you bypassed the rolls (I know, it's hard), then you can splurge a little on dinner, kwim? Good luck!! :)

Katy
01-14-2007, 11:17 AM
Sue, my thought on "splurges" out at restaurants is to remember to choose...will you be drinking to celebrate? or will you eat an appetizer or have a dessert to celebrate? just don't do BOTH. That made a HUGE difference when I was away on vacation right before Christmas.

I chose to eat during my vacation and ignored all the wine and drinks - it paid off since during that time, I'd gained a little under 2 pounds (and it was off the following week of going back on plan). Well worth it to not have to worry about what I was eating on vacation - and I was the DD so the hubby could drink all the wine he wanted and not have to worry about driving :D

Ok, so I haven't gone to a meeting since July when I hit lifetime. I heard the plan changed. Can anyone give me the run down on what is different. I am wondering if my points have changed.

Sue
01-14-2007, 12:13 PM
I very rarely drink, so that's good... I'll probably order an appetizer and then maybe dessert if I'm not too full.

Like jennylou and Chylynn said, I just need to make good choices - like have the sirloin instead of the 24 oz porterhouse!! But still have a good time w/o feeling too deprived :)

Sue: I think you'll be just fine on your night out. :)

I've been doing some research into the Wendie Plan (http://aweightlossadventure.com/WendiePlan.html), and the concept is that you mix up your daily points and flex points during the week, having low days, a medium high day, and a super high day, keeping your body guessing and not allowing it to get used to a particular routine. I'm going to give it a try because it makes a lot of sense to me. You just keep your super high day a few days away from your WI day so you don't show a gain from all that food on that high day. Those flex points were built into the program for a reason, and they're there to use if you need them. Don't be afraid to use them. :)

WI today, -1.5 which is more than I usually lose in a week. Yay!

I'm finding it hard to get the 8 things in every day. 3 milk and 5 veggies/fruit will make me cut into my flex points, and I think it sucks to have to use them on the healthy stuff. I'm sure switching to skim milk would help, but I grew up on whole, and getting used to 2% has been a minor miracle.

jennylou
01-15-2007, 11:44 AM
Foley - congrats on the loss!

chylynn - Way to go on passing on the breadsticks!

greenbunny - congrats on the loss. Can you try skim in cereal only - I can't taste the difference.

I lost 2.2 this week, iwhich s OK except that since Oct I gained back the weight I lost so I had to start from scratch. 2.2 down is better than 2.2 up, anyway!

DH lost 5.8 lbs this week - jerk. :p We are having a challenge with my ILs, and they lost 10 combined compared to our 8. Now I am really motivated for this week!

greenbunny - do you drink coffee? I make myself a cafe au lait in the morning with half coffee and half hot skim milk. It's a huge mug, so it's at least one cup of milk. I'm lucky that I grew up with skim milk - it took 2 yrs to get DH to switch over.

Congrats for all of the losses!

greenbunny
01-15-2007, 12:14 PM
I don't drink coffee, but I do drink herbal tea. Maybe I should try adding some skim to the tea. Usually I drink it plain. I eat yogurt for breakfast since I eat at work, so that's a dairy. I think I will try skim in cereal for my mid-morning snack. Thanks, guys.

WTG on the losses, everyone, some big drops this week! And chylynn, I could never have resisted that delicious bread. You have an iron will. :p

In fact, now I want to go to Olive Garden. Crap.

Is anyone else being bombarded with parties, family get-togethers, etc? Since Thanksgiving, I've had a trip to Disney, Christmas festivities, New Year's Eve party with friends, a New Year's dinner at BF's parents' house, many obligatory dinners out with friends, a wake, and now 2 birthday parties next week. I can't seem to escape the food! And there's never any healthy options floating around, or any I can find. Weight Watchers would be much easier if I were single with absolutely no friends or family ;)

Absolutely! It is so hard to lose when you have sicial events that involve food. I find that even two meals out per week can keep me off track.

At teh meetings, they tell us all these techniques and I do them, but it is never as easy as when I can just plan a healthy WW meal for me and eat alongside DH as home.

What I do: Extra exercise the morning of a party or eating event. For example, in addition to walking my dogs their normal 2 miles, I will do an hour onteh exercise bike (My norm is 30 min). And then I just have a piece of fruit for lunch if the celebration meal is a dinner. Or if the big meal is mid-day, then I eat no supper.

This doesn't allow me to pig put at these social events. I stil take small portions, no bread, and cut my dessert in half, and only eat half.

I am happy to report that my cholesteral, which has been over 200 for quite some time, has come down to 182, as of last week. And as of my weigh-in today, I was at 133, which is a loss of 1 lb. Would have been more if I didn't have a dinner party on Sunday!

So true!!

ajacobsen -Congratulations! That is fantastic. :)

greenbunny -Sorry- I don't want to be a bad influence on you!

Question- Is anyone else not using the flex points? I have not been and I am wondering if this is going to cause a stall in my weight loss?

jajacobsen
01-16-2007, 03:22 AM
cylynn. I do not use my flex points. I have a really low metabolism (Hypothyroid) and I find if I use my flex points, I don't lose. So I just stick to 20 points per day, and even don't add any points earned for exercise. I think my exercise is what is making sure I don't plateau. I try to do at leat 30 min of walking and then 30 min of exercise bike every day. My weight loss certainly has slowed to about a 1 lb per week, as I get closer to goal (133 now, goal is 125) but I think that is normal.

Congrats to all the losses! Keep up the good work!

In regards to flex points - I vary it up to see what works best for me and I've found that using none to about half works well for me. Last week I tried to use all of my flex and only lost .5 lbs and that was my smallest loss. So far this week I haven't used any and am already down almost a pound.

greenbunny
01-16-2007, 06:52 AM
I need to use about 1/4 to 1/2 my flex points for the best loss.

ITA about social functions. Usually there's nothing WW friendly as a main dish. I could stand by the veggie tray all night, but that isn't a meal. Usually it goes something like this: sausage sandwiches, hot dogs, meatball subs...

I went produce shopping last night, and  I spent over a hundred dollars! I'm starting to wonder if what you west coast ladies pay for in real estate, you're making up for in fruits and vegetables! :p

LOL! Yeah, being on WW, I find that the money we save from buying less snack food/ice cream, we more than spend on produce.

My WI was this morning (at home) and I'm down 3.4 this week for a total of 4.6. It sounds like a big loss for one week, but my weight has been all over the place for the past 2 weeks (I weigh every morning), and I think part of that loss should have shown up for the previous week but didn't.

I agree that social situations make things harder. It's hard not to treat everything as a "special occasion" and let myself slip. Today is DH's birthday (so we will be going out to eat), this past weekend we had pizza while watching football with friends, and that will probably happen again this weekend. The only way I can deal with it all is to try to earn a ton of exercise points this week.

greenbunny
01-16-2007, 11:11 AM
I like the Sana Fe chicken, too. I also like the Santa Fe rice and beans, but that's 6 points. Urp.

I got a great deal on Lean Cuisine frozen meals this week. They have the WW points right on the side, so it's easy to choose without hassle. A lot of unusual options, too. I picked up butternut squash ravioli and vegetable spring rolls.

I still have a few Healthy Choice meals to finish up, and I've lost my taste for them. That brand is really salty.

One thing that has helped me with buying produce is going to these produce markets in town. I live in Chicago and we seem to have these fruit & veggie markets in every neighborhood. I got 5 bags of f&v Friday for $20! Look and see if your city has them...they will definitely help you save some $$.

Official WI today. I was feeling crappy last nite so I said the hell with it and ate 2 bowls of baked ziti, a small cookies and cream ice cream cone, and 1/2 a slice of Texas Toast. Between all that and AF, I told myself that I'll be okay with a 2lb gain. Got on the scale and either the scale is broken or I still lost .5 lb. It's only .5lb but I'm ecstatic. I can't wait until next weeks weigh-in now.

Can I join? I just singed up for WW online, so I'm looking for cyber support in lieu of meetings. I've had two children in the past two years, however, I can't blame them for my weight gain - although they are a contributing factor to the fatigue that I blame for my laziness! Here are my stats

Starting weight - 157 (roughly, I don't have a digital scale, but I'm buying one today)
Goal weight - 124.1 according to WW, but I'd be happy with 135.

Wish me luck!!:)

Hey ladies! WK 2 loss - 1 lb for a total of 5.8 lbs. I was just hoping for 1 lb as I was on plan, but did not excerise at all. I know from prior experience exercise is the key for me. Keep up the good work everyone!

Congrats on all the losses! Jenny & Cheryll, you're kicking a$$. :)

Okay, here's the part of Weight Watchers I don't like: I'm actually exercising EVERY DAY now (yes, me--I can hardly believe it myself! ;)), I run on the treadmill every day for 20-30 minutes. As a result, the leg muscles are developing nicely. Sounds good so far, right? Except--my weight has gone up two pounds this week, because muscle weighs more than fat! And as far as WI is concerned, there's no differentiation between fat gain or muscle gain.

I am SO close to goal--and I know eventually things will even out. But right now this feels like such a setback. I've been diligently sticking to my points, exercising like a fiend, and yet I GAIN. I'm so frustrated. :(

cheryll_with_2els
01-19-2007, 09:35 AM
Kerrie: Muscle doesn't weigh more than fat, but it is denser and takes up less room. Which means, even though you may not be seeing a drop on the scales, you are probably losing inches. Have you taken your measurements lately?

Also, it's possible that even though you're sticking to your points, you may not be eating enough, especially if you're doing a lot of exercise. Are you eating your APs? Your flex points? If you're expending a lot of energy, your body needs to be refueled. Otherwise, it will go into starvation mode and the scale won't budge.

Give eating more a try. I know, it goes against everything we've ever been taught, but truly, eating less does not guarantee that you'll loose more.

Good luck! :)

Kerrie: Muscle doesn't weigh more than fat, but it is denser and takes up less room.

That's what I was getting at, but I always word it wrong. I should know, a pound is a pound! ;)

Last night I forced myself to eat AFTER my workout, because I still had points left over--there are days when I'm just not hungry enough, or I forget to eat. I've heard the 'eat more, lose more' theory, and we've discussed that at my meetings. And LAST week, I ate more and had a 3+ pound loss! So I guess there's some truth to that.

And LAST week, I ate more and had a 3+ pound loss! So I guess there's some truth to that.

There is definitely some truth to that! I've been playing around with my FPs, mixing them up each day. My WI is on Wed., so on Sat. I have a super high point day. Last Sat. I ate 48 points, with my dailies being 21. And on Wed. I lost 3 lbs. The theory is on the day before and the day after your high day, have a regular point day. Also, try to keep your super high day a few days away from your WI so you don't show a gain from all that food. You need to keep your body guessing so it doesn't get used to the same amount of food each day.

Well, back from my 2nd WI and I'm done 1.5 pounds (5.5 total in 2 wks) which is better than I was thinking it would be since AF is here visiting. I am really going to try to exercise more this week and drink more water.

5.5 down, 36.5 to go......

P.S. cheryll, that is very interesting. I'm going to try that this week and see what happens.

Week 3 WI: 0 (stayed exactly the same)
Total loss: -2.4

I actually thought I would gain because I did horrible this week. So I'm thankful to stay the same :)

Hi everyone,

I just joined WW for the first time on Wednesday. The first day was the hardest so far. I am reading and trying to figure things out. Anyways, I was wondering if you all could recommend some good Smart Ones and Lean Cuisine meals? I picked a few up at the store yesterday, but I imagine some are much better than others. Thanks! :)

The Lean Cuisine paninis are really good. They're up there in points but very filling. The sesame chicken is my favorite. You can also try the Lean Pockets Ultra for a good low point lunch.

Thought I would share with you all what I did this morning. :D

Okay, so this may seem silly to some, but it's something I've really been wanting to do.

When I started WW, I was wearing a TIGHT size 24 pants. I'm now wearing size 12.

I've seen pictures of this, so this morning I tried it. I put both of my legs into one leg of my size 24 pants. I was able to get them up to about my knees. (hehehe) Hopefully by the time I reach goal, I'll be able to get those suckers all the way up.

Just one of my many, zany goals. :)

I like to get the Healthy Choice meals also. It tells you the WW points right on the back of the box, so that's helpful. Plus it seems like you get a bit more food and the point values seem to be a bit lower. Just my general observation.

cheryll - I think it's great to have goals that aren't just weight goals. :)

lean cuisines vs smart ones - Smart ones were on sale, so I picked up some of those, and so far they're eh. The potato/brocolli (which LC also has) is comparable - so if you like that one, get whichever one is on sale or cheaper. ;) The lasagna is better from LC. And, I too, lurve the mushroom pizza. :)

I sure hope you guys are right about sometimes eating more to weigh less. I was picking and snacking ALL day yesterday and logged myself 36 points (over by 12). I got on the scale this morning thinking I'd be back up to 171 and it said 166. I usually go over my points once or twice but still end up with almost all of my back-up and activity points at the end of the week.

emmjay - great loss!

jellybean - You are so gonna hit that 40 pound mark next week! Awesome job. :D You should do a before and current photo for us. :D

1_mommy - congrats on the great loss. The LC pizzas are really yummy!

My DH wanted to go to the Chinese Buffet here yesterday. I think I did okay. White rice, no fried rice. Some grapes (they had pineapple and cantelope too, but I took only a bite, it was nasty). I had some crab legs, sans the butter. I also had some mushrooms and some veggie stirfry. I'm sure it could have been better, as I know the veggie and mushroom sauce (they didn't have anything steamed) wasn't the best, but I tried to pick only veggies because of that.

And, last night, I did 1 mile of WATP (the second mile of the 2 mile), as I couldn't find the rewind button on our very old VCR and we don't have the remote anymore. I found the rewind button though, so hopefully, I'll be able to do the full thing - both times I've tried the baby starts crying and I have to stop for her and just don't get back to it.

we went to a friends for a bbq, i was good and had 1 hamburger wrapped in lettuce, a handful of doritos, and then way to many cheetos, and then, THEN, they brought out this yummy looking huge chocolate cake that they had got from costco! of course i at 1/2 my piece (it was HUGE) piece. and then today we went to a friends out to watch football, had me 3 pieces of pizza, and more chocolate cake (only 1/2 a piece) the pizza is really all i ate today besides two oranges, and 3 mini size donuts. ughh, thats bad, i need to do super good the rest of the week, i know i used all my flex points!
that cake was soooooo good though!

Getting closer....getting closer....!

I had a crappy weekend in terms of exercise, though--I did NONE. :(

I just rejoined WW this past sat. Im not going to post what I weigh but will tell you that I have 100lbs to lose by the end. But ive decided to take it 20lbs at a time.

Im really liking that we get more pts now than when I did program 5 years ago, I dont feel like im starving as much(at least so far).

I love the LC panini's, and DONT like Smart Ones at all. Its not enough food and doesnt taste good. Our local grocery store has been having LC and HC 5 for $10, so I go and get 5 of each and then have lunch for 2 weeks.

You ladies are all so inspiring!:) Im more of a lurker than a poster, but I will come in once in awhile.

Points Range-
I joined WW online and they automatically told me how many points I have. Does anyone know if there is somewhere on the site that gives the points for all weight ranges like they have in the paper materials. I tried to search on the site and I couldn't find it.
Or if someone who has the materials could tell me the weight range for 24 points (I think they go in 2 pt increments if I re-call - all my paper info is 4 years old) - right now I am at 26 points and I would like to know at what point I will have to go down in points.

Thanks!

jennylou
01-22-2007, 08:20 AM
Jessie - WW changed how they tabulate points - now you have to take a quiz. You can find it here. (http://www.constantchatter.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1151467&postcount=775)

Good job everyone on the losses! Keep it up! :D

I had a  moment this morning. After entering my weight, the site said "Congratulations, you've reached goal!" and I was

Then I realized I'd missed the "1" on the front! You'd think bells would go off when I input that I'd lost over a hundred pounds in a week, but apparently not!

My real WI is -1.5, for a total of 14.5 pounds. I've hit my 10% and don't have far to go. Wee!

The only downside is my points got adjusted down again. Bummer.

jesseybell
01-22-2007, 09:37 AM
Thanks jennylou! I didn't realize those questions online actually helped determine the number of points.
So for every 10 lbs you loose a point.

Under a certain weight though you would think it doesn't work. If I were to hit 150 someday which in the past is the weight at which WW had said should be the max I should be, then once I hit 149 then that would be only 20 points - I thought 20 points was the minimum for anyone....as you can tell its been a long time since I've seen the printed materials.

But I shouldn't be thinking that far ahead....off to figure out what I might have for lunch.

Hi all,

I didn't WI last week as I had surgery Friday and simply forgot to WI Saturday due to painkillers.:D I was going to do it yesterday but figured I'll just wait until Saturday and get a two week WI. I have been kicking butt with my eating and slight exercising so I really hope I lose a decent amount. I'm not going to hit my goal since my loss is so frieken slow its almost non-existent but I'd like to at least move in the right direction. I felt pretty good last week but this week I don't feel as successful. I've been eating a bit more salty foods this week than I normally do, which is probably what's making me feel that way. I have also been on Percoset and I swear it's making me retain water? Not sure if there is any truth to that but I swear it feels that way!

Congrats to all the loser. You all are SUCH an inspiration! It's what is keeping me going even with hardly any loss!

Eating high fiber foods such as grapefruit, celery, etc can help to reduce the bloating, as does drinking lots of water. HTH!

I'm going to start the plan in the next few weeks...I'm curious, if I get the monthly pass can you go to any meeting? What I mean is, there is an 8:30am meeting at the place near my house that I would regularly want to go to, but if for some reason I couldn't make that meeting I'd want to go near my work. Has anyone done this?

TIA!

Here's a question for you all, as I sit here trying to figure out my points for lunch. :) I got take out from Baja Fresh today, and I had some of the vinaigrette on my salad. dwlz.com lists 2 oz of the dressing as being 8.5 points  , but I seriously only consumed like 1/4 of the little plastic tub, using the 'dip your fork' method.

And, I ate 1/4 of my son's kid size chicken & cheese quesadilla--the whole thing is 16.5 points. Would I divide 16.5 by 4, or should I get the actual nutrition info from Baja fresh's website, and divide each separate category (calories, fat, etc.) by 4? God, I hate math. ;)

jennylou
01-24-2007, 11:15 AM
I'd just divide - seems easier to me. BUT, if it has more than four grams of fiber, it would be worth the math, since fiber tops out of 4 grams.

FYI, Jenny (and anyone else who's interested!)--I ended up plugging in my lunch yesterday to the online points tracker, since they did have Baja Fresh items listed. Had I simply divided 16.5 by 4 (for eating 1/4 of the kid's meal quesadilla), I would have ended up with 4-point-something. Using the online tracker gave me a points value of 3.5. Sure, it's only a fraction of a point that I saved probably, but it adds up! ;)

Great job everybody! I had my first WI this morning ... and I lost 4.5lbs!!! I was shocked because I used all my flex points PLUS 10, and I only worked out 1 day. Not a great start, I know, but my timing is terribe - we are having our kithen redone and it was completely gutted this week, so we are forced to eat out. I am trying to make healthy choices, but when I come home and add them up, I ended up going over my points allowance this week. I realize its probably all water weight that I dropped, but 4.5 lbs is 4.5lbs right??? More importantly, the loss is inspriing me to stay on track. I'm actuallly looking forward to WI next week.

I am still adjusting to losing two points per day. I only have 8 flex points left, and WI is Monday. It's not like I'm going hog wild on junk. The things putting me over are a slice of raisin bread instead of WW bread, regular pasta instead of whole grain, etc. I'm a little frustrated, but I guess I have to change absolutely every food to a light version, not just the junk.

IrishEyes: Thank you so much! I get asked this a lot. I try to follow the program to a "T" because I figure WW has done a lot of scientific research and they must know what they're talking about. :D Most days I get all of the 8 good healthy guidelines in, including the 2 tsp. of oil. I drink between 80 - 100 oz. of water every day. I try to workout 30 mins. 3-4 days per week either on the treadmill or using my WATP DVDs. Also, in addition to making sure I eat all of my daily points, I've been mixing up my flex points each day, having a super high point day mid-week. My WI day is on Wed., so usually on Sat. I'll eat a LOT of my flex points, at least 15-20. Mixing up your flex points keeps your body guessing and it never gets used to a certain amount of food. It keeps your inner furnace and metablism burning those calories. This is alot along the lines of the Wendie Plan (http://aweightlossadventure.com/WendiePlan.html). Some pretty interesting stuff. Also, I usually eat all of my APs. I figure since I'm expending extra energy, my body needs to be re-fueled.

Bottom line: Never give up! If you have a bad food day, that's okay. Just hop back on the wagon the next day.

IrishEyes

I remember the Wendie plan. It worked for me this week--we had a party on Sunday and I ate most of my flex points that day (extra worth it for a brownie) and I had a nice loss Wednesday.
Thanks for all that information, though. It's nice to hear from a Big Loser what makes it so successful for them!

cheryll - Thanks for the tips!

Can someone expand on the 8 healthy guidelines?

This is taken directly from the WW site.

Healthy Eating: The Good Health Guidelines

Weight Watchers is all about healthy weight loss. To aid your efforts, follow the eight Good Health Guidelines. They’ll help you give your body the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals it needs, in the right amounts. You can use your POINTS® Tracker to keep track of your progress with several of them.

Eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day.
A serving is ½ cup, except for leafy greens which are 1 cup per serving.

Choose whole grains whenever possible.
This means whole-wheat (or oat or multigrain) bread, instead of bread made with refined white flour; whole-wheat pasta instead of white; and brown rice instead of white.

Get the calcium you need.
Include at least two servings (one serving=one cup) of non- or low-fat milk products each day (three if you’re over 50, or if you weigh more than 250 pounds). For example, one cup of milk or yogurt or 1½ ounces of hard cheese will help you work towards your milk products.

Drink at least six 8-ounce glasses of water each day.

Have some healthy oil each day.
Two teaspoons of olive, canola, safflower, sunflower or flaxseed oil - so your body gets the vitamin E and essential fatty acids it needs.

Make sure you get enough protein.
A serving or two will keep you healthy. Look for low-fat sources such as skinless poultry, lean meat, fish and eggs.

Take a multiple vitamin-mineral supplement every day.

Limit added sugar and alcohol.
Both contain empty calories. Avoid processed foods with added sugar. And experts recommend no more than one serving of alcohol per day for women, and no more than two per day for men.

I so agree with you, MES!! This is exactly why this can be done for life, and not just a fad diet.

:( My official WI was today. I'm back up to 167.5 from 166.5. I won't beat myself up over it since I know I was bad bad bad this past weekend but for whatever reason, that lb just snuck up on my overnight. I had great OP days since Mon, and worked out every day this week. Maybe it's muscle, maybe it's from being back on my BC patch, maybe it's the weekend catching up with me, hell, maybe I'm constipated:o Either way, it's outta here by next wi!

Had weigh-in on Wednesday. Gained 3.6lbs. Yes, you read correctly. Anyway, I'm trying very hard to get back on track. Guess the holidays really did me in.

I had my 3rd WI today and I am down 3 lbs. for 8.5 pounds total. I am thinking of doing a modified version of Wendi's plan. I don't think I am eating enough. I used maybe 10-15 flex points, plus I earned 31 activity points but didn't use any of them. I feel like I'm starving all of the time!

We'll see, I may chicken out of doing that.

anna and julia - sorry about the gain.

Cheryll, I agree your face has really thinned out between those last two pictures! Great job!

I was a bit surprised today when I went to WI. After a week of being out of town and eating out (and splurging from time to time) I'm down yet another pound! Talk about motivation and how portion control and exercise can make such a difference!

I have been appalling lately. Been traveling for work to hotels in very, very cold (as in, below freezing as the HIGH temp) cities without any gyms... and working 12-14 hours a day. And eating at the hotels. I know, I know - WW works no matter where you are, but honestly, I've been too tired and too stressed to really care. Now I'm back home and I need AND want to get back on track. Will go WI tomorrow (missed last week as I was flying) and then get the journal out and get myself regrouped. I can't keep having set backs like this and achieve my goals - it doesn't happen!

But this thread is very inspiring - that's why I keep coming back to it.

WI was Wed. Lost 3.0 (over 2 weeks)

SW before program: 208
SW: 203
CW: 189.2
TL: -13.8
1st GW: 183 (10%)

Only a little more than 6lbs to my first goal! I had a week or so that I stopped tracking every food, but I still kept the goals in mind and still lost weight.

I'm trying to stay really focused on my next goal and my goal of adding in exercise 3-4 days a week.

WI today. Down 4.4 pounds since my last meeting on 1/6 (I'm Lifetime, so I don't have to go every single week). I think I stayed the same since last week, when I weighed myself at home, and I believe my scale is pretty accurate.

Starting weight: 179.6
Current weight: 144.2
Total lost: 35.4

Now less than 10 pounds away from goal! These last pounds are just creeping off SLOWLY, and I'm getting impatient! I know I'm gaining muscle from running, but that shows up as a gain on the scale, unfortunately.

Hi ladies!

I've skimmed through this thread and you all have such great ideas and inspirations! I'm not sure where to turn for this, so I'm hoping someone can help me with a couple of questions.

About 2 years ago, I used to have the Smart Ones lunches every day and I got into a bad habit the last 6 months or so of not really eating lunch, or having just yogurt and crackers, and then eating badly when I got home. Basically all the eating around the holidays didn't help and I gained enough that my clothes feel tight. I've started making myself eat a smart ones every day and it's definitely helping (I guess it's true that not eating bfast or lunch really does cause your body to absorb food you eat later in the day!). I've also started eating the WW ice cream instead of what I really want. :D My question for you all is how do I find out how many points I should be eating per day? I'm not following the plan strictly per se, but I'm interested in how "bad" point wise my lunch choices are, for example I've seen some people say the 6 pointers are bad. Is there some general guideline I can find somewhere without having to join?

TIA!

P.S. I exercise 45 min.-1 hr about 4-5 times/week too, I know there are activity points--is there a way to figure that out too?

I think I redeemed myself. At my unofficial WI toaday (yes, I'm a slave to the scale and I know it), I was down to between 166 and 166.5. I even had a pretty hearty yet point friendly breakfast this morning. Hopefully by Thursday, I'll be down some more. I'm thinking/hoping it was my patch.

Minor vent: I usually log my points before I eat but yesterday, I was starving so I grabbed a Lean Cuisine 4 cheese pizza from the freezer and nuked it. Ate it and went to log it only to find that the damn thing was 8 points:eek: Waaay too much for lunch. I did go over my daily points a bit but I won't be buying any more 8 point pizza's, that's for sure.

Since we seem to be getting the same basic WW questions over and over, I think I'm going to create a sticky with the basic stuff for folks to read through instead of reading through 900+ posts. Then again, we need to start a new thread at 1000 posts anyway.

WI today - down .2.

My mom was in town and I didn't work out for 3 days, plus we went out to dinner, had lots of wine, etc. My ILs are almost 2 lbs ahead of us in our weight loss challenge, so DH and I need to get going this week!

As I predicted, gained at my WI yesterday, though I was shocked that it was only 0.8lbs - after two weeks on the road with no exercise and hardly on plan, that wasn't bad. Now I'm home and can get my bum into gear again, I really REALLY need to do it. I've been gaining and losing the same 1-2lbs for six weeks and I have had enough - time to stop farting around and get real!
