What do you all think of this (http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/opabacqa.html)? There's also a story about it on the Yahoo main page with a CNN video (couldn't figure out how to get a link to the video to post).

According to the video, the Listeria virus kills 500 Americans each year. I'm aware of Listeria b/c I learned about it when I was pregnant the 1st time. I heat my lunch meat before I eat it to kill any possible Listeria bacteria (when I'm PG). IIRC the Listeria bacteria can appear in other foods. I believe there was a recall on guacamole from Trader Joe's a couple of years ago. So why the target on RTE meats?

Personally, I don't like the idea of the FDA adding anything else to the food I eat. I get grossed out enough as it is when I read the extensive list of unpronouncable ingredients in my food. We've been making a transition to organic food and it looks like this will seal the deal, on RTE meats anyway.
