View Full Version : Can an implantation dip last more than 1 day?

I'm on CD 107. Yeah, I know. According to my calculations, I'm at 11DPO. My temp was down to the LTL yesterday, and was still down this morning.

1. My LP has been 12-13 days every time that I've ovulated over the past 18 months, so I'm thinking it's not AF coming. Plus, I'm not spotting or anything, which I generally do before my period starts.

2. I have had, over the past nine months or so, several "false ovulations" where my CM and temp would both show signs of ovulation, but then my temp would go back down after about 5-7 days and the cycle would continue. Unless something is very, very wrong, I don't think this was another false O, because the temps stayed up so long and the thermal shift was so clear. But I can't be sure, because I haven't been checking CM - around CD 80, I decided it just wasn't worth my time anymore. So I don't know if I had a Peak Day with this thermal shift or not. So, this could have been another false O.

3. The only other thing I can think of to cause a temp drop at this time in my LP would be implantation. While I don't know much about it, I think implantation dips only last a single day. Is that accurate? I HOPE it's an implantation dip, but I really have no way of knowing until I can test, which I can't until I get home from my trip on Saturday (I don't want to do it without my DH there, just in case it's positive).

So, anyone care to weigh in? Do you think it's option 1, option 2, or option 3? Or could it be something else that I haven't thought of?

Unfortunately, option #2 is the most logical. The "implantation dip" only lasts one day and is a controversial anyway. It's more likely a sign of an estrogen surge, which normally happens around that many dpos anyway, pregnant or not.

Based on your history of this happening, and on your chart, I would guess this is another annovulatory cycle. I know you're SWH, but if you repeatedly have long cycles like this, have you considered going to your Dr for testing to see what's going on hormonally?

I've been to my gyn, and she has referred me to a specialist, but my appointment hasn't been scheduled yet. They're booked up through November, anyway.

Thanks for voting. I think option 2 is definitely my least favorite. I'm just SO READY for this cycle to be over! I would love to be pregnant, but even AF would be welcome at this point!

I'm sorry you're dealing with such a long cycle, and I'm impressed that you're still charting through it.

I'm no expert, but it looks like anov. to me also. I'm sorry. :(

If you do feel like getting your hopes up (that can be fun sometimes), browse the PG charts in FF. You will see all kinds of things there with temps, so you never know.

I'd try to get to the dr., too. Good luck!

Thanks for your input, j*east. I'm really frustrated with this cycle...it's my longest one so far, and I just really want it to end. At this point, I don't really care whether it ends with AF or with a BFP, I just want it to be OVER! I looked at the PG charts in FF with implantation dips, but it doesn't really look like any of them lasted longer than a day. :( I want to hope that this morning's temp was inaccurate, since I did temp an hour late...but I know that the inaccuracy actually would have made my temp appear *higher* than it actually was, not *lower*. I'm still hoping it goes back up in the morning, but if not, I'm going to be really sad. I was really starting to think that this cycle was coming to a close. :(

I'm still waiting for an appointment to the specialist gyn to whom my doctor referred me.

Cycle OVER! AF showed up this morning! :D 11 days is not quite as long as my usual LP, but I'm just glad it wasn't another false O, which I would have found quite heart-breaking, especially since this week has already been ridiculously stressful for me. So, YAY! Thanks everybody for chiming in.

I'm glad to hear it...sounds like you probably did O then, finally! Good for you, and here's to a better cycle this time. :)
