I'm sorry the first post in our new thread is not a happy one. We went to our appt. earlier today (just got home at 11:00 tonight) and it was the worst case scenario. There is only once sac and one placenta. The twins are monoamniotic without a doubt. This means that IF they make it to 24 weeks, and the docs said not to count on it. Then I will be admitted to inpatient sometime between 24 and 27 weeks for the remainder of the pg. If there is any stress on the twins, they will be delivered. I will carry them to a maximum of 34 weeks. So, at a minimum they will be 6 weeks premature, but most likely won't make it that far. I'm just hoping/praying that they make it to about 27-28 weeks to give them a decent shot at life.
Thanks for all your thoughts and well wishes today. I'm so tired and just want to curl up for the day. The only bright spot is that regardless of what happens to these twins, I still have a perfect daughter in Aimee. Most people don't even get the chance to have one child, so I should be thankful for that.
I'll keep you all posted as we go along. Just cross your fingers and hope they stay put until January at least!

Brink...you'll be in my prayers. I hope those babies bake for a long long time and that things will go well for you.
Jo...C's rash just went away on it's own..I kept her lubed up with triple paste, aveeno diaper cream (which is my favorite) and butt paste. We did a lot of nakey time there too for awhile
Here is Courtneys 12 month stats

Brink - you and your family will be in my prayers.
Jo - if it is yeast, the only thing that will make it go away is keeping the area dry and the Nystatin cream. A had a horrible yeast rash a few months back and it took weeks to clear up - hers was also little red bumps and redness everywhere. I would give her a bath and then let her crawl around with out a diaper before putting her to bed...and I was putting the Nystatin on with every change...you can also use Monistat.
Teething he11 - up all night and I am so tired I could scream.

Brink--you guys are in my prayers. My first was born 5 weeks early at 35 weeks. Eliezrah pops around CC a bit on the Oct Mommies thread but is mostly on WC. Her first was born at 28/29 weeks. Both of us had single births (no twins) but we can relate to the prematurity issue. If/When you get to that point please feel free to PM us if you want.

brink - My thoughts and prayers are definitely with you. Take care of yourself and I hope those babies stay in there as long as you need them to!
2 days vomit-free, woohoo! I think Lauren is finally over the hurdle. She woke up early this morning and was starving, and then after she ate, she just wanted me to hold her and I had to do daycare drop-off today (DH normally does it) and she cried and cried when I left.:( Oh well, at least I know she loves me!;)

Brink My prayers are with you for the rest of your pregnancy. We are here for you!!!
ALison Caitlin is TOO Cute
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZACH!
JO Addy looks like she had a great b-day (and your dog too) screw all of them that commented on the chocolate. Like non one gives their dog table food once in a while (or they get into it themselves) You're a great Mom-we know that!
My DadI must have wrote something wrong. My Dad is actually coming HOME after a year and a half of being gone! I cannot wait for him to see Hunter. He has seen him twice since he was born (the last time being in April)
My grandmother-thank you for asking-has undergone some radiation to her brain stem. She now has feeling in her leg and can write-amazing. My stepmom has high hopes.
Teething cr8zyforaf and alison-I sympathize...every night for the past week-up for an hour 2x/night! And up at 6am...it sucks

Randysmandy - It goes to show how long we have all known each other. I remember when your dad left. I can't believe that has been a year and a half. So glad to hear he is coming home.
AndreaMMS - can you re-gift them to anyone?
We went and had Aimee's one year pics taken the other day (I know a few weeks before she is actually one), they turned out fantastic. I can't wait to post them for you all. I'm so frustrated that we cannot post from Snapfish anymore. That is where all of my pics are.

Andrea - I am right there with ya! I received a cute pullover in size 9-12 months and a sundress in size 12-18 months and yes we live in Colorado. I mentioned to one of the senders that Caitlin was small so maybe that is why she sent the 9-12. So sad, but I might put it on ebay:D
Brink - I am sorry that you did not receive better news at your appt. Please keep us up to date so that we can continue to send our good thoughts!
Cr8nme - So cute - you are very brave not putting a bib on her when she is wearing white:)
cr8zy and mandy - I guess misery does love company - We were all probably up at the same time last night!
Since almost all of our babies are one or just about to turn, I thought that it would be fun to do a survey about our kids:) Feel free to add more questions:

Solongtogo & Cr8zy - Thanks for the info on the diaper rash. We have been giving her nakey time too which does seem to help. I was wondering about Monistat. Did you try that?

jo - yes, I've used monistat - but as preventative - last time she was on antibiotics I used it just in case...she didn't get another yeast infect so maybe it worked. I hope you all feel better. The 'runs' are the worst!
We're having our birthday bbq in the park this Saturday. I've been frantically trying to get things together because our guest list grew to 40!
I feel for you- I had 60 adults and 20 kids - it was totally out of control. I had a great time, but so glad it is behind me.
cr8nme - OMG - Noelle is adorable with her little utensils. I am a bad mommy - I have yet to let her use utensils..I fear the mess.
andrea - you will do great!! It will be a lot of fun..for me, it was so great to see all the kids playing and having a great time..especially since FINALLY - one of the kids is mine!!
Ashley is sick - coughing, runny nose, yucky eyes..up all night - last night was the worst. Dh took the first shift but I could hear her crying every hour so I didn't get sleep even though he had her. I have entered walking zombie zone. If she doesn't look better by tomorrow - we will go back to the doc.
We start a class at a local gym with some of the other kids from daycare. I am excited. Also, looking for a new daycare - totally had it with current one. The one I want to get her into has over a year wait..insane.

Andrea - oh my - so adorable. She has a great smile!
Ashley has a double ear infection. When I picked her up from school yesterday she seemed better, but then I noticed a lot of wax in her ear - so I went to look closer and when I put my finger on her ear, she screamed like she was being stabbed..so, I took her in. She is on antibiotics which probably means she will get the runs, and then a yeast infection. This is her fourth ear infection.
hmbay - how scary! Thank goodness he didn't get hurt. Isn't it funny how fast they move. Ashley is also a climber. The other day at daycare, she pulled her bin out, pushed it over to the book shelf, and climbed up on the bin and was working her way to the top of the bookshelf when the teachers noticed. She is fast.
Happy Friday to everyone.

funny habit~ copies whatever we say or do

QOTD: Does your baby stuff a lot of food in his/her mouth at one time?
I cut Noelle 's food up for her and she puts like 4 pieces minimum in her mouth which causes her to gag and then she looks at me like "Why are you choking me"
cr8zyforaf
09-15-2006, 08:33 AM
I also wanted to add - One of the best things Ashley got for her birthday was this book:
Make It about Me (http://www.makeitaboutme.com/shop/default.htm)
I will always treasure this - my friend got pictures of Ash - and Ash's face shows up all over the book on adult bodies - it is freaking hysterical..for each letter of the alphabet she is doing something different (some that stick out - water-skiing, umpire, doctor)...it is so funny to see her baby head on people bodies and something that she will have forever.

Lord yes, she's like a dang squirrel.
OK - I just spit soda all over the place...too funny. Ashley also loves to cram stuff in but she usually crams it in and then takes it out. The other day she took a handful of goldfish and stuck them all in her mouth and then got upset because her mouth was too full..
tubes - we did discuss this last night - I am on the fence - I had tubes but I was much older. Both DH and i have horrible allergies so I think this may be a sign of things to come. I saw a different doctor last night but plan on discussing with Ash's doctor when we go back to do an ear check. This doctor seemed to think it was still too soon to go down that road and I agree.

cr8zy--have you tried a chiropractor? I don't think they are the answer to all ills but ours had a pamplet about how chiropractors can help with ear infections because sometimes they are caused by a misaligned spine which in turn causes the ear canal to be compressed funny and hold fluid. It's worth a shot to check it out before doing something as invasive as tubes. I found this with a quick search: http://www.healthychild.com/chiropractic-ear-infections.htm

Andrea - So cute - I love the jean jacket!
cr8zy - Oh, poor A. Hope the meds kick in quickly!!!
QOTD - C does this with things that she really likes. Lately I have been giving her one bite on the fork instead of several pieces on the tray. Love the squirrel comment:)
Tubes - I wanted just to say from second hand experience (3 friends and family members have done this in the past 6 months) that everyone was so happy with the results. One thing that really helped is that we have a pediatric clinic here that just does the tubes so all of the nurses and staff are wonderful with the kids. One of my friends has twins and the one twin that was having all of the infections was quite delayed in his speech. It turns out it was from the fluid in his ears and now 4 months post tubes he does not have the delay anymore. He also had a balance issue that wasn't really noticed until after the surgery.
So DH is coming home tonight after being gone since Sunday and I have a whole weekend planned for my self that involves no kids - is that really bad?? I know that he has been working all week, but he has also gotten to shower, work out, pee by himself (well I hope), eat with other adults etc. I know that he won't mind, but I hate that I am feeling guilty for wanting some alone time this weekend. Anyway I am feeling better today because both kids slept thru the night last night - it was like a miracle from above. C slept from 7-6:45 and A slept from 8:15-6:45 - not a peep from either of them.
Happy Friday! I hope that all of the parties are great this weekend!

Hi!
QOTD: Yup. I've got a hoarder here too. It is so annoying. He will fill his mouth attempt to chew. Then open his mouth and let 1/2 of it fall out. Yuck.
Kim-Sorry about the ear infection. So odd! I mean she hasn't had a cold or anything...hope she feels better.
Alison-No, you aren't selfish at all! I'm sure we all understand. Plus, I'm sure DH missed the kids. It wont seem like "work" to him, it will be fun time! ;) Let yourself off the hook!
Andrea: Great pics! I'm impressed. I never thought that BRU would do that good of a job.
We haven't done H's one year yet. I have an appointment with a lady for next week, but H has a boo-boo on his face and I want it healed first. DH thinks it helps show him as he is and wants me to do the pics regardless.
Ah, not much is going on with us... Henry want to play outside all day long. It is fun, but soooo messy. He is so grimy when he comes in. We have had cooler weather this week (in the 80s) and it has been a nice reprieve. We got him a sand table for his b-day and he is loving it. I was on the fence about getting it (spoiled child) but I'm glad we did.
H seems to be growing through his shoes unbelieveably fast. In mid July I bought him new Robeez--12-18. He blew through them in a month. Then I bought him Guicios thinking he had just had a spurt and these would last all fall. Well fall isn't even here and he is out of growing room. They aren't too small but....It's so annoying because I can't buy big because he is too new at walking to wear clown shoes, but I also don't want to buy new shoes every month! Anyone else with this problem?
I'm also so frustrated with his eating habits. He loves something one day and spits it out the next. I feel like I am offering him 5 things every meal. The only thing he consistantly eats is fruit. Apparently he has my sweet tooth, but come on kid eat your veggies!

Happy Friday Everyone. Thanks again for all your wishes on the twins. I am coming to terms with everything that is going on. I figure, I will do everything in my power to create the safest environment for them to thrive. Other than that, their fate is out of my control and I have to accept that. It won't be an easy road, but if all goes well - it will be a road worth traveling no matter how hard it is. I did get my doppler today and heard both of their heartbeats this morning. They were beating strong around 145 for one and 149 for the other.
Andreamms - Naomi is so cute. I can't blame you for getting multiple set of pictures.
Solong - Aimee has such chubby cheeks that she looks like Courtney all the time!
QOTD - food stuffing - yes, she does this too. Sometimes I can't believe how fast she is shoving stuff in there. Scares me, but she is pretty good about not choking.
Ok - I have to share pics of Aimee. I had these taken last weekend. I have so many great pics but I'll only post a few (ok several).

Actually it's possible it could...since the ear canal is so close to the jaw, etc it's possible that it's hurts to chew her food. I'd wait a few days for her ear medicine to start working and see what happens...if she still eating baby food, then I have no idea...

beachbum - Wow, he blew through his 12-18 Robeez?? Our kiddo's are apparently polar opposites! I bought Lauren 6-12 month Robeez for this winter and they're still HUGE! She had size 2 and 3 sandals for this summer, and the size 2's finally fit and the 3's are still huge, maybe next summer? So, what I wanted to say, is my kid is the opposite - when are her feet going to grow?;)
cr8zyforaf - Yes, ear infections can definitely keep them from eating, exactly what Brink said. Lauren's had 3 ear infections and each time, that's how I know for sure that there's something wrong, bc she starts fussing when she's breastfeeding (she had all the ear infections before she was on solids). And for what it's worth, our ped said 1 more infection (so, with #4), she sends us to a pediatric ear nose and throat dr. to talk tubes. I also know someone whose son is 26 months old and is barely talking and is having to go through speach therapy to have the number of words he does. They found out at his 1 yr appt that he had fluid in his ears and weren't sure how long it had been there and they think that is what caused/contributed to the speach delay. So, if Lauren gets another infection, we're definitely going to at least have the consultation, and not with our general ped, but with the specialist. Just my thoughts, not that you asked!;)
brink and andrea - Adorable pics!! You've made me really excited for our 1 year pics in a few weeks!
Lauren is finally totally better! She got her appetite back on Wednesday, daycare thinks she was hitting a growth spurt, could be, but I imagine it was just a week without eating! And she was a riot tonight...just so giggly and being so silly and funny, I hated putting her to bed, but finally did at 9:45...selfish mommy keeping her up so late!:p

Cr8zy - Sorry about the double ear infection. I hope A is feeling better today. Her not wanting to eat solids could be directly related to her ears. The books she received sounds like a hoot!
Andrea - Great pics of Naomi :)
Crow - Have fun with the party tomorrow!
Alison - Hope you have a wonderful "kid free" weekend. I know what you mean about feeling guilty but I hope you enjoy it.
Beachbum - Henry sounds like he has a lot of fun outside. If it makes you feel any better, Addy prefers fruit over anything else. I keep telling her she will turn into a blueberry...somedays she does as everything that is exposed is "blue". Heehee.
Sologntogo - That is one funny picture!!
Brink - Aimee's pictures are adorable. I love all of her hair!! So glad that you are feeling better about the situation with the twins. I am glad your doppler arrived - was it hard to find the 2 different h/b's?
Re: Food stuffing - Addy doesn't stuff her mouth too bad. But what she does do is "save" things for later. It will be an hour (or more) after she has eaten dinner and she will pull a green bean out of her cheek. At first I couldn't figure out where these little treats were coming from until she actually showed me where she kept her treats. Thus far we have had beans, peas, a mushy gold fish cracker....you name it, she stores it.
Shoes - Addison is in between a 4 and 5!! We actually went shoe shopping yesterday and I was totally surprised that we ended up buying 5's. She is really funny about her shoes now. She went from disliking wearing them to being the first thing she checks on and points to when she wakes up. She tries putting them on, stops and talks to them while she is walking...when we went to the shoe store I thought she was going to pass out from excitement. She didn't know what to do with all those shoes! I wonder if a childhood fetish lasts into adult hood?

happy birthday max! hope you had a great 1st birthday.
we have another walker. all week, i thought i was seeing zoe walk out of the corner of my eye but never really saw it. then, yesterday she got up out of her chair and took about 6 or 7 steps right to me. it's like she's been watching jake the past few weeks and now she's got it all figured out. she walks really well... probably better than jake even. problem is, she's not very adept at getting to a standing position on her own. i know she can do it but i think she completely forgets. so when she falls, it's all over.
unfortunatly though, she's sick. so that blows. nothing major, just a little cold. dh thinks it could be allergies. how would i know if it's a cold or allergies?
oh, and jake got a molar. zoe may be working on one too but i'm not sure. she keeps jamming her finger in the back of her mouth.
hope you all are having a good weekend.

Happy birthday Max!
Alex is up to six teeth and taking a few steps here and there but no full out walking yet. We're also working on transitioning to whole milk. He'll drink some but not a whole bottle yet. I'm also trying to give it to him in a sippie instead of a bottle and that is going so-so. If I take the valve out he can get milk but with the valve in he only remembers to suck every tenth time or so.

hmbay - We're also working on the whole milk transition. Lauren only BF 3 times today (8, 2, 9) and I offered her a sippy of milk at 11 and she drank MAYBE an ounce. Are they supposed to be getting as much whole milk as they were BF or formula?
Cr8nme
09-16-2006, 08:44 PM
Noelle takes about 24 oz or less of whole milk per day... She always has a bottle at bedtime and then again about 1-2 hours after she eats breakfast and then 1 more bottle around 4 or 5 pm all 8 oz each or less whatever she chooses.. at meals she get a water sippy... ETA: if I giver her a sippy of milk she will only drink a little bit unless she is eating peanut butter, lol (she gets no formula at all)
Wildcat~ In the gymbo thread I like the first dress(houndstooth) with the little maryjanes soo cute for pics

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAX!!! Have a great day!
milk - the transition is going very slowly here also. I have been offering it in the sippy 3 times a day and the max Caitlin drinks is 3 oz - total!! I am starting a slow weaning but I am so worried that she will not get enough fat and calories. I will continue to nurse twice a day until she starts drinking more milk.
shoes - Caitlin still has plenty of room in her 6-12 Robbeez. I bought 2 pairs of 12-18 for the fall/winter and they look like clown shoes on her. Her feet are not only small but they are so thin that regular shoes slip right off. I bought a pair of tan mary janes size 4 and they even slip off with thick socks. My son had wide feet for the first 2 years so I don't even know if they make narrow shoes for toddlers - maybe I need to call Sride rite.
walking - C is walking about 75% of the time now - it seems to be increasing everyday.
Brink - A is beautiful and that dress is gorgeous!
solong - That is an adorable pic of C!
I hope that all of the sick kiddos are doing better!

Just wanted to do a drive-by post saying "Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes!" We had a pretty good party at the park with more people than anticipated! A few of my parents' friends brought extra friends. By somehow we managed. The weather was a bit hot, but luckily, everyone found shade whenever they needed it. I was crazy busy making sure everything was going well that I barely had enough time to spend it with Max. In fact, I wasn't even next to him while cutting cake. MIL was holding him tight the entire time. Ugh. Oh well. Anyway, I'll come back to post some pictures when I upload them.
Shoes - Max is wearing 4.5~5
Milk - We just started on whole milk today. I mixed it with 4 oz of formula and it looks like he's taking it in okay. We'll see how it goes in the next few days.
Stuffing food - Yes, Max does it quite often. I can't put too many things in front of him b/c he will put it all in his mouth at once. He's even choked a few times but he doesn't seem to care.
Yay for more walkers!
Thanks for sharing the cute recent pics, Brink, AndreaMMS, Solong, and Sabrespa!

HAPPY BELATED B-DAY MAX
This weekend was awesome. We went to VT for my Alumni weekend and stayed in a condo with 3 other couples. Hunter was the only baby, but he did SO good! It went by fast, but we enjoyed ourselves. He slept wonderfully too. Sadly, I found out, by walking past it, that the house I lived in at school burned!!! it's not to the ground, but it mine as well be. My bedroom is charred-the fire started on the first floor right under where my bedroom was!!
Eating I put a few pieces in front of DD and he eats sooo fast...like a chipmunk. half of it end up on the floor anyways. ust when I think we need to start feeding him again his slaps the food off the fork onto the tray-jeesh.
Love love love the pic of Aimee and Naomi---I need to get to the photographer!
here are some pics from the weekend:

Hi everyone - I hope everyone had a great weekend. We spent the weekend running around and now we are exhausted. We did order new kitchen cabinets for the new house. We should be remodeling in about 4 wks (can I possibly add anything else to my plate????)
Thanks for the compliments on Aimee's pics. We we really happy with them - they were done at Sears - can you believe it! Alisonco - thanks for the compliment on the dress. I actually got both of them second hand from a friend that was selling them. I only paid $20 a piece for them back before Aimee was born. I have been saving them for her 1st birthday pics.
Happy Belated Birthday Max!
Randysmandy - so glad you had a good time in VT and that Hunter was so good. The family pics are great.
Shoes - Aimee is wearing a size 4. I felt horrible the other day, I took her shoes off after the day was over and she had a cut on her heal. Poor thing probably hurt all day and didn't even say anything about it.
Jo&sean - It wasn't as hard as I would have thought finding the h/b for both babies. They were located in a very different spot than Aimee's was. Aimee's was really low, almost down to the pelvic bone. The twins are right below my belly button. Since they are in the same sac, they are pretty much right next to each other. So, I find one and then move it over about 2 inches and find the other. This morning they were 145 and 149 - sounds good to me.
Ugh - can't believe Monday is almost here. The only thing I like now about Monday's is it marks another successful week in my pregnancy. We are 14 wks tomorrow - 10 more until they are "safe".

Thanks for all of the good info on the ears - I think if there is another infection, we will need to go to a specialist - this is #3 for us in less than two months. She is no longer sleeping - she is up and down all night and I have just had it. I am exhausted, barely able to work, my marriage s*cks, I never see my friends..I have just had it. I really have. Sorry to be such a downer but I just don't know how much more I can take.
shoes - Ashley is in a 4.5. Her 12-18 month Robeez still fit.
wildcat - so glad Lauren is feeling better. Her feet are so tiny!! Ashley has outgrown her 2 &3's - most of them didn't even get worn.
jo - how cute - Addison loves shoes - that is adorable. Ashley hates hers which is shocking since her mommy has a weakness for shoes and bags.
Sorry for anyone I've missed.

cr8zy - Gosh, I am so sorry that A is still up and down all night. I hope that you can schedule some time away soon - maybe a weekend at a hotel with a couple of friends?
mandy - Oh, H is so cute! I love his little blond curls.
Well I ended up having a nice and fairly guilt-free weekend. Sat I went to a brunch and then in the afternoon I went shopping with my mom and sister. We hit a couple of nice consignment stores and got Caitlin a few fall outfits. Now that she is walking so much I like to put her in pants to protect her knees. One store had a huge rack of just Gymbo outfits so I got 3, 2 piece outfits for $17. Sunday I went grocery shopping by myself while DH took the kids to the lake to feed the ducks. Then I gave myself a pedicure and watched a very cheesy Lifetime movie while the kids slept.
Caitlin has her 12m WBV tomorrow - excited to see how big she is, but not excited for the shot. She hasn't had a shot in 3 months so I know that it is going to be bad:( I also noticed this morning that she has 6 top front teeth coming in. She is sleeping well considering.
Have a great Monday:)

Sorry to hear about the lack and of sleep and being down. I know it is hard sometimes-being a mom and working. I know it is hard to find time to polish my nails nevermind having some "alone" time with DH. but take some time for yourself and try to be a woman as well as a Mom. You have to do that for yourself!!

Brink - Happy 14 weeks! That is exciting about the new cabinets - you are remodeling pro. Hope it goes well.
Alison - Glad you had a nice, relaxing mostly guilt-free weekend :)
Randysmandy - Great pictures. Hunter is such a handsome little guy.
Cr8zy - I am sorry that things are rough right now. Hang in there.
Grinding teeth Addison does this too. The sound makes me shiver...yikes!
Our photographer came over this morning to take Addison's 1 year photos. We had tried unsucessfuly twice to take photos in the studio so she came here this morning. I am glad she did - Addison was such a ham. I got her another little cake to smash into but she was very reserved and only ate a little frosting. I am excited to see the proofs.
Soy Milk Question - Is anyone else giving soy milk instead of cows milk? I need to do some research on this but it doesn't seem to "fil"l her up. When she was on soy formula we were down to 1 bottle a night. Now, she wants 3 bottles at night again. I have tried giving her a bedtime snack, giving her water instead and making larger bottles but she only drinks 5 oz's no matter what - each with no luck. She is drinking all of her bottles so I don't think it is a comfort thing.
Hope everyone has a good Monday.

Question - how many of you plan to get the flu vac for your babies. My doctor is pushing it and I am on the fence. Last year was the first year I've gotten it and I had the flu three times (I've never had the flu as an adult before last year) - it was probably just a coincidence but I don't know.
solongtogo

FLU Doc is pushing me to get C vaccinated for flu as well..she says that all babies older than 6 months really need it. I'm not sure if I will get it done or not...the last (and only) time I myself got a flu vaccine, I got terribly sick.
hmbay
09-19-2006, 07:38 AM
flu--I personally get a shot ever year. I've only made Jon get one the year our babies were born since they were fall/winter babies. However my kids have not gotten a flu vaccine and I will not give them one. But my kids aren't in daycare so I'm not as concerned about them catching it. I've heard mixed things about it being safe or not so I have skipped it for the kids. If they were in daycare I might vaccinate them (but I might not).

Flu shots - I don't think I will get one for Aimee. I've never had one for myself. She is in daycare and does get sick, but I think there is something to be said for building your immune system when you are young. I just wonder about how much we are vacccinating ourselves and if some bad bug came around that we didn't have a vaccine for, would our bodies be able to handle it if they didn't have the practice with all the smaller viruses? I don't know - I'm not a scientist and I don't know if that thought as any merit, but it sounds logical to me..........
Pixie/Cr8zy - thanks for stopping by the other thread and saying hi. It means a lot that everyone cares about what is going on with these twins. BTW - their h/b's were in the 150's last night - still going strong.

Hi all - Caitlin had her 12m WBV this morning and it went well. She is still my little string bean:
Caitlin - 12m
height - 29.25 - 60%
weight - 18 pounds 7 oz - 5-10%
Doc continues to be thrilled with her growth as she is following her own pattern which has been consistent for 6 months now. When I told her that C was only drinking 3-4 oz of milk/day she said that some kids just have a longer transition and to keep offering but offer lots of water also. She would like the before bed bottle to be gone by 18 months, but to start wiping her teeth before bed now. C got one shot but the nurse was so nice and let me hold her instead of making me lay her down on the table.
flu shot - we discussed it at length today and I am still on the fence. Aidan and I got them last year because C was so young. The only reason I would this year is because there is a good chance that Aidan will be starting some kind of preschool this winter for the first time and I am terrified of what he is going to bring home. I generally do not get any unnecessary (IMO) vaccines so this is really hard.
teeth grinding - No, but C is just now getting the top teeth so there was nothing to grind before:)
charmcity - I forget to mention yesterday that Caitlin had the fever virus last week too. It was so weird because that was really all that it was. My ped today mentioned that it very common in kids. Hope that J is feeling better and that you can schedule some me-time soon!

baby free weekend - so last Saturday night I went away for one night with four girlfriends to celebrate a friend getting married next month. It was SO SO nice to be away. But wouldn't you know it that I didn't sleep well. We went to bed at 1 AM after watching Love Actually and then I was up at 7AM on the dot, just like always. GRRR. I am still B/F and my boobs were just ready to be pumped then.... Kaito did great while I was away. Of course I had a dream that Kaito needed a medical procedure and my D/H and I had to leave him overnight. I kept asking, "But who is going to get him when he cries?" Somehow the place where he was going was like a kennel (!). Oh, and add this to firsts.... would you believe I pumped my boobs in the backseat of the car on the way... My friends kept telling me that I was never going to see any of these people again even if people saw. It's amazing how much privacy doesn't matter once you've had a baby.
alison your kid free weekend sounded nice too.
beachbum Kaito has a big scratch on his nose. I had the same thought about waiting on his 1 year old pics. I'm hoping it'll heal by Saturday.

Thanks for the responses on the flu shot - I am still on the fence. DH says he wouldn't do it but is leaving it up to me...I just can't get over the fact that I had the flu three times last winter and it was the first year ever that I had the shot...who knows.
charm - how is your uncle?
Kay - woo hoo for the baby free time. Funny about the dream and pumping in the back seat!
Brink - good news about the heart beats! I will continue to send good thoughts your way!
teeth grinding - nope - however, maybe she is getting her molars - we had another horrible night last night. And tonight I am meeting friends and I just don't feel like going...all I want to do is sleep.
swingsets - we will get one - but not one of the really expensive ones - but probably not until spring time.
Last night they had open school night at A's school- it was very nice. The teacher's put together a really nice packet with pictures and documentation on A's major milestones in the last few months as well as some art activities that she did (finger painting, paint footsteps)..I was very impressed with the amount of effort they put into everything.

swingsets--watch craigslist if you are in a metro area. I picked up a 3 year old faded but in good shape Step 2 one for $150 that retails for around $500-600. I figure that will work until we have the money for one of those larger ones (I figure with two boys we WILL need one of the larger ones eventually).

Well I just scheduled Court's flu shot. Ped said that since this is the first one, she needs TWO shots, one month apart from each other, and that they are not given a live virus...

Well Addy is sick again! Her school called me yesterday afternoon to pick her up because she had a fever of 102. This morning when she woke up, it was 104 but it came down after she was up and ate some breakfast. It has been hovering around 101.9 all day. Poor little thing - I hate to see her so sad. She wants to play but just doesn't feel like it. Although, she feels fine enought to chase her cat around ;)

So sorry about Zach - how is he?
Another horrible night - however, I now know why - molar on left side coming in - huge bump on her gum and the teacher says she works on it all day - poor thing. I am just pumping her with motrin. I thought that they would come in pairs - isn't it going to be odd for her to have one big tooth in the back? I wish they would have all come at once - i can't believe I will have to go through this three more times for the biggies!
I am feeling better - went to dinner with my friend last night and had a long reasonable talk with DH...

happy birhtday crowbaby. hope you have a great 1st birthday.
cr8zy j has only one molar. i guess it's weird, but he doesn't know any different. btw, thanks for asking about my uncle. he's progressing well but still has some trouble saying the right words for some things. like, he called is electric razor "scissors". it's funny though, because, really, they are very much like scissors. they cut, don't they? interesting how the brain works. they don't know yet if he can walk b/c the pt hasn't come to help him out of bed. anyhow, he will probably be sent home tomorrow or saturday. and will start in-home rehab right away.
glad to hear you're feeling better too.
hope all the sick and hurt babies are feeling better today. seems like there are a lot of them right now, huh?

Hi guys. :)
Happy Birthday crowbaby. :)
Sorry about all the sick babies! H has a runny nose, but I think it's just teething.
Kim-Henry hasn't been sleeping well either. I think it's teething. Hope things get better with Ashley. Our babies seem to be on the same non sleeping schedule. :)
Flu shot We aren't getting it.
teeth grinding H did when he first got his top teeth. I don't notice him doing it now.
We we are officially crazy. :) We are taking a family vacation to Italy. I'm so excited! I think once we get there things will be fine....I'm just worried about the long flights (ugh).

Poor Zach and Addy - hope that they are better today!
cr8zy - Molars already? She must be miserable! I am SO glad that you had a nice evening.
BB - Italy? Henry is one lucky kiddo:)
swingsets - We have a metal frame swingset that we got on sale last spring. Both kids love it and the swings etc are interchangable so you can buy more things as they get bigger. It came with a slide, two-seater, bars, rings and 3 swings - then we bought a bucket seat for Caitlin. I agree with hmbay about craigslist or the newspaper. The other thing I highly reccommend is a water table - both of mine LOVE it! We got a sand and water table but just put water in both sides. I found ours at a yard sale 2 years ago.
Have a great day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CROWBABY!
SandieHow is Zach?????
BeachBum How jealous am I!? We would like to go to England, but are waiting 2 years once we are in a new house!
Warning: This is a long post:
I had a huge blowout with my mother in law this week (mon and yesterday) She rocks Hunter for a good 45 min, lets him fall alseep sideways on her and then puts him in the drib. This is after she spends 20 min playing in the chair with him. She also stopped reading him books. I made her put him in the crib and she yelled at me telling me my clock was wrong and she had only been in there for 20 min!!!! Well needless to say she stormed off upstairs and Hunter stayed in his crib for 30 min-never slept. I took him out quietly, made him watch a Baby Einstein tape while I finished up work. Didn't talk to her til this morning and come to think of it, she still wouldn't talk to me!
On top of that I told her to give him a jelly sandwich yesterday, but I noticed the turkey meat was opened today after I told her I forgot to buy him low sodium turkey. She insists he needs protein although he gets it in alot of what he whats throughout the day. If I wanted him to have frigan potato chips everyday that's what she should give him!! I don't know what to do at this point-I guess I can't have the best of both worlds. DH agrees with me, but won't talk to her. Our relationship is going down the drain.
Good news-I'm going out with a girlfriend tonight for drinks-lots of drinks! And tomorrow's Friday.

ITA--I picked up the Step2 one this summer (new) for my kids and both Alex and my almost 3 year old love that thing. They are messy though (we did put sand in one side and water in the other although now it's a messy mix and half the sand has been thrown all over our yard).

Sandie - so sorry about Zach's lip. How bad was it? I know Aimee bit hers a daycare last week and they said it was bleeding......
Swingsets - thanks for all the info on the swingsets. Cr8nme - I think I'm going to buy that one from Walmart.
Happy Birthday Crowbaby!
Cr8zy - Ouch with the molar. One of my friends kids, she just turn one a couple of weeks ago, has a blood blister where her molar is trying to come through. Talk about painful.
Beachbum - Italy sounds fun. I just can't imagine the plane ride!
Randysmandy - Your MIL is a PIA! If I remember right, you are stuck with her because she charges so much less than a daycare, right? Maybe you could just leave some pamphlets around regarding other daycares and she will think you are seriously looking at firing her?????
Aimee's birthday party is Saturday. I'm taking most of the day off tomorrow to prep for it. It's hard when you live in a new area - I don't even know where to go to get balloons!
Aimee's actual birthday is on Monday. I have to drive down to work that morning (2.5 hours) because of a meeting. Usually on the days I drive down, I stay the night and go back after work the next day. That is my two days in the office and then I get to work from home the rest of the week. Only problem is then I wouldn't even see her on her birthday. I know it won't matter to her, but I think I would be really sad to not even see her on her first birthday. Ugh - I don't know what to do.

Zach's Lip He didn't get stitches yet, but it still looks bad. It's actually the inside of his top lip and his gum. It's still swollen and I can tell it's bothering him. I'm going to see if I can get in to the doctor tomorrow. I don't think there's a whole lot they can do, but going will give me piece of mind.

Sandi - sorry to hear about Zach's lip! Maybe you could let him suck on a frozen washcloth for the pain? Poor little guy!
cr8zy - glad that you are feeling a little better about things. Hope that Ashley's molar comes in soon & stops bothering her!
brink - any chance you can switch days next week? I think it would be hard to miss her b-day.
randysmandy - ooh, your MIL burns me up! Hang in there, maybe someday you can move far away from her!
beachbum - ooh, Italy! I am officially jealous! I really have the travel bug lately, although I'm too chicken to take the Lilster anywhere just yet!
So Lily has had a little cold this week, but otherwise she is doing really well! She walks now 100%... no more crawling! It is really really amazing and so weird! We went to the zoo this week and she chased around the goats in the petting area, too cute!

So, what is it with our babies that they are ALL SICK on their birthday parties???? Aimee started getting sick two days ago. I think she is on the recovery side, but still - she is caughing and has a runny nose. Now she has passed it to mommy. I can't believe how many of our babies turned up sick the day before their parties. Do they not want all the toys and clothes?
On another note - I listened to the babies this morning. Still with h/b's in the 145 range. I have my appt with the specialist next Wednesday, so maybe I'll get to see them again.
Thank you so much for birthday wishes! That was so fun to see all the greetings!
We have had a birthday *week* b/c we had his party last Sunday, then celebrated again, yesterday. We do not have any photos uploaded, nor do we know when we will, b/c we are just in over our heads! --we have ILs here right now (arrgh, I am tired), termites to take care of!, meetings everywhere, overtime work, homework. So much I am getting overwhelmed just thinking about it...so I'm just going to procrastinate and write to you here.
I do have some prof shots, taken at 11 months

Crowbaby smiles so much at home---but it is really hard to get him to smile at the photo place, he is awfully suspicious. I am going to show some photos from the party, hopefully.
brink re: heartbeats, our baby was always on the low end, usually 130s. I don't even remember a time when the HR was above 140. I hope Aimee will be well for her party!
fifibee What a colorful party! The photos you shared look fantastic!
Go Lily! on being such a good walker! pixiecat was it a slow transition? Crowbaby does a few steps--but mostly this is kind of in a stumbling, *falling* motion, not really walking.
cr8nme I LOVE the photos of Noelle, esp the one right after the shots! She is looking right at the camera, with an expression like, why mama are you taking this photo right NOW??? I just think that photos of babies pouting or crying are so heartbreakingly adorable.
randymandy I am so with you on MILs, well and FIL for us. (ILs are here this week) I repeatedly ask her to please keep quiet while baby naps. I know this sounds strict, but really, I ask her to be quiet ONLY when she sits right outside his door. (we run the dishwasher, have guests over, and even have used the lawn mower outside without waking him).
She never remembers that the baby is right there--she admits this. And our doors/walls are thin. I often come home and she is jabbering away on her cell RIGHT OUTSIDE his door. Of course he is awake in his crib. Tonight...she decided to call out to me as I walk by her (she was knitting outside his door). I was actually *tiptoe-ing* so as to signal to her that this was "quiet time." Of course baby woke up, crying and screaming. So DH went in, but it took 20 minutes to settle him down. After settling down FIL comes out and asks MIL very loudly about where his pills are. Right outside baby's door again. Of course, BABY woke up AGAIN, another pitiful screamfest. It was really frustrating and sad tonight for us. Luckily, baby is now finally asleep.
Ugg, I got carried away with this vent...must go to bed before finishing!
Have a good weekend everyone!

We were up at 4 am this morning-100 degress fever and would not settle. There must be some BIG teeth coming in. I had a bettr day with my MIL. Hunter went to bed no problem-I put him to bed in the morning (he was up at 5 and down at 7). She didn't talk to me much and stayed outside most of the day. Thankfully it is the weekend. Applepicking planned for today and we have an outing tomorrow-I only hope Hunter feels better. His fever broke this morning-97.1 in the ear.

Hi, everyone! Naomi thanks you for the happy birthday wishes!
Ohmygosh, her party was awesome. And I am just as proud as can be of her- she was in a fantastic mood the entire day, wore her fairy oufit without complaint, went to everyone with a big smile.
I think people had fun- I really hope so. The kids all seemed to- I had brought Naomi's fencing system into the restaurant to contain all the rugrats and we set it up on a carpet in the middle of the room with a bunch of toys. Smartest decision I made! Kept the kids safe and they had a ball. I particularly enjoyed all the adults getting in the baby zoo with them!
My college rommate Marni teaches music to little kids and led the babies in a 20 minute "show"- it was really fun, and Naomi went CRAZY for it.
I'll post photos!
First of all...how far our babies have come! The first year is a miracle...

Happy belated birthday to Naomi and Kaito!
Andrea -- What great pics you've posted. The party sounded like it was a blast for both adults and kids. I'm so glad it went so well for ya. It's definitely shocking to compare 1st week pics to 1 year old pics these days. How far our babies have come!
fever -- Max is also suffering from fever these days. I'm guessing it's teething but I'm also scared that it might be ear infection. I just don't know if it's teething anymore cuz he's popping them out left and right. Sometimes he's fine, sometimes he's cranky. I think he's already working on his 12th tooth.

fifibee hunter has the same issue right now.....
He has mood swings and here is his temps this weekend:
Friday-101
Saturday-101 to 103.6! Went down to 99 with Tylenol.
Sunday morning 101. Thankfully it is back down to normal now. He was putting his hand on his ear. I also thought it was teeth, but it wasn't a low grade fever (over 100), so I am bringing him ot the doctor's tomorrow-better safe than sorry. maybe you should have Max checked out?

Andrea - Those pics are great! Your family is beautiful and N looks like she enjoyed her cake:)
fever - it is so weird that so many of our kiddos have had a few days of fever recently. I was blaming it on a virus but maybe it is teething because she had a low one this morning. She is still working on 6 teeth - 4 are about half way in and the other 2 just broke yesterday so maybe that is it. She has just not been herself lately - sleeping erratically, crying while sleeping, grumpy, not wanting to eat...damn teeth;)
Hope that you all had a wonderful weekend!

question what kind of coat are you getting your dc for the winter?
fifibee
09-24-2006, 10:24 PM
randysmandy -- you're absolutely right. Max's fever just hasn't come down and even crept up to 103! So we took him to the doc today and guess what, he's got double ear infection. :( We just took a flight recently with a slight cold and the doc says that the combination of the cold and the flight probably caused the ear infection. i guess i feel a little better now knowing what's causing his fever. but i'm not thrilled about the double ear infection.
QOTD: Sorry but we haven't even started thinking about coats yet! We're still on hoodies for jackets right now, but perhaps we should start soon.

Oh my goodness, I can't believe all the fevers around here!! I hope all our babies are feeling better!!
We were out of town Friday through tonight for a wedding that I was in for a best friend. It was Lauren's first time in a hotel and she did great! She went to sleep in her pack-n-play and slept great and I had to actually wake her up! (7am on Saturday and 9:30 this morning!). We all had a really long weekend and are glad to be home. We have Lauren's 1 year pics tomorrow and I'm so excited and have ironed about 10 different outfits and am going to have the photographer help me choose which will be best for pics, I can't wait! ALTHOUGH, I also can't wait for them to be over...picking the perfect outfit, crossing my fingers Lauren's in a good mood and doesn't spit up on herself, and that the weather is good and that I get to the photographer with all necessities always stresses me out so much!
DH and I are on vacation all week in honor of Lauren's bday on Wednesday;). Besides the prof. pics tomorrow, I also have an appt at Portrait Innovations on Thursday to do the cake smashing naked baby pics. I thought I would get their cheap $9.95 deal on my favorite pose and send those out in the thank-yous after her birthday parties.
Andrea - Naomi's party looked wonderful...that's one cute baby girl you have!!
coat - So far, Lauren has this jacket,

I LOVE it, it's so soft and pretty and we've gotten so many compliments on it already!
Then I know my mom just bought her a jean jacket and a winter coat last week but it's part of her bday presents, so I haven't seen them yet but will let you know in a week!

THANK YOU! Thank you for all of your birthday wishes. We had a party on Saturday in our apartment. Around 25 people came, including kids. We had pizza, fruit salad and green bean salad. I made cupcakes - used the Magnolia Bakery recipe from NYC. Unfortunately they were DRY. I thought I would bake cupcakes because taht way I could try a cupcake before the party, as opposed to a cake. I didn't think about the DRYNESS factor. I should've gotten ice cream but I wasn't thinking. Oh well. I've made a mental note to myself that if I ever try baking myself, ALWAYS ALWAYS get ice cr
