Nursing bra - For those of you who are nursing, what bras are you wearing? I'm having trouble finding a bra that I think has enough padding/lining so that you can't see the nursing pads through my shirt.

On that topic, what nursing pads do you like? I find the lansinoh pads itchy, the reusable pads you can definitely see in my bra ... but I like the Johnson & Johnson pads. Pretty thick so no leaks, and large enough and round enough that I don't feel they are too noticeable in my shirt.

Be back later today for SOs!

nursing bra - Anita is my favorite brand.

nursing pads - J&J are great for night time - I always thought that they showed too much in the daytime though. Lansinoh ones are okay, but so thin that they are hard to put in and pull up the bra without it folding. I'm trying a sample 4 pack from Medela today. So far I like them, but not sure if I'd buy them or not - it will depend upon the price. I'm out of the lansinoh ones and had these sitting in the diaper bag for emergencies. We'll see what the prices are at Target and I'll decide if it's time to try a new brand or if I'll just buy the Medela ones.

Bras: My favorite are the sports bra looking ones from Walmart. Bestform possibly? Can't remember. I want to get a sleeping nursing bra.

Pads: I've used Medela, Lansinoh and reusable ones. I think my favorites are Medela. I thought the lansinoh ones for itchy but the reusable ones are THICK and can be seen through my shirts. Also, my nipples stick to them (ouch!) if they still have a little milk on them when I put the bra back up. Also, I have yet to use the sticky feature on the pads. I take them out everytime and tuck my bra under my boob.

bras - I'm a 34G right now (ugh) so I have to order super-pricey ones online if I want any kind of quality. For some reason most B&M places don't think women with 34-inch ribcages should have G-cups.

pads - Medela disposables. I used the washable ones with DD - several kinds - and hated them all.

I'm officially below my pre-pg weight as of this morning. A diet with no dairy, soy, wheat, oats, barley, nuts, eggs or berries will do that pretty quickly.

Nursing Bra - I got a Medela one when I thought I was going to get my act together and try hands-free pumping. At night I wear a cheap nursing tank from Target or a sports-like looking bra (but unhooks in the back).

Nursing Pads - I love the Medela disposables. I bought the reusables and I hated them. I still have some other ones that I wear at night just to use up but they actually move around a lot so often I wake up soaked if I get to sleep for a long time and I sleep on my side.

Finally time for SOs! I have so many … here goes …

Babywish – Sorry that S and I couldn’t meet up with you and Marc. I swear that original class email that was sent out said the class was on Saturdays. I can definitely go to the next Friday class. Did you guys make it to the class? Can’t wait to meet Marc!

Chimi – Love the pick of R in the pumpkin patch! We are taking S to pick her first pumpkin on Friday!

Camdynlyn – Mia is a sweetheart! I love the little pumpkin hat – we have that one also! Noticed you moved to livejournal. How do you like it over there? S is similar to Mia in that she sleeps great the first point in the night and in a shorter interval in the second part of the night. Wonder if that is common? FYI - I have 2 nursing bras I purchased at BRU. They don’t have a lot of support, but they are great for nighttime and hanging around the house. Very comfortable and accessible. I’m going to try the Medela pads. Thanks! Someone gave me a leftover box, and I totally forgot I had them.

JenniferH – Don’t feel bad. My DD doesn’t sleep for 5 or 6 hrs yet either. She probably could during the day, but she sleeps anywhere from 2 – 4 hrs at night. Lately, more towards 4 hrs, but can’t be sure that will happen every night. S was the same size as Cohen at her 1 month checkup. What a coincidence! Dr. pointed out to me that S had great weight gain but was only in the 43% because babies are born at 9 lbs. Crazy! Hope your date night is going well!

Babylove – These days I still count sleeping in 3 hr intervals as good! ;) Thanks for the tip on the heating pad. We don’t have one, but I think I’ll go get one and try it out. Makes since that baby would like the crib better if it were warm.

Ajlanden – What a nice smile David has! How’s his eye? I think S’s has cleared up! Hopefully it won’t come back.

UTChick – Of course I originally thought you were a TN fan, but that’s because I’m from the South. Once you posted about your brother I realized you were from Texas. So congrats on the big win today! I’m glad you won because I picked UT in the pool I’m in. BTW – DD just moved to size 1 this weekend and she is almost 6 weeks. Although she’s pretty much out of pampers NBs (could fit her in if we had to), she is still in NB size in Huggies. I think it’s normal to still be in NB size, especially if DS is long rather than plump. Have you started introducing dairy again?

it’sabug – Good luck on your first day back at work on Monday! I’ll be thinking of you. Totally awesome that your work provides day care in the same building. I’m jealous! This is one of the greatest joys in my life, too! Amazing, isn’t it?

K&H – Aw, I love Allison’s picture. What a cutie pie! How is the new house? You have only alluded to the new house, but never discussed it (since I’ve been here any way) .. .tell us about it and post pics! So maybe Sophie beat Allison and was born first, but man … Allison is kicking butt and sleeping longer than Sophie (9:00– 4:45 … I’m jealous!). And, I’m sure you look fabulous! Post some pics of you and A!

Isaacsmommy – Glad to hear you have tried the lansinoh wipes. We bought them last week and DH tried them out tonight and really liked them. He said, “wow, honey, they glide over her instead of rubbing on her bottom.” PS – you look GREAT! You really do …and your boys certainly are lookers! Love Isaac’s eyebrows and Grant’s smile! YAY for rolling over and smiling!

Dukesflygirl – OMG! Love that pic of Ryleigh. Too funny! She has better form than I do! LOL! And Liam has a great little smile. How’s the zantac working. Seems to work for my DD, thankfully!

jarocha – I know, I find it hard to get online as well. That’s why I have so many SOs to catch up on. I find it hard to get up in the middle of the night still as well … I’m a night owl, but once I’m asleep I don’t want to wake up. Feliza is adorable!

Cosmic – Our DC’s were born on the same day. Must have been a lucky day because, like you, I only pushed for 20 mins … we are lucky girls! And, I agree, nothing prepares you for meeting your sweet little baby!

Jennylou – Never heard of Anita bras. Will have to look them up. Thanks! The J&J pads work fine for me now because I’m wearing my normal lined bras during the day (although when I'm "full" my boobs completely hang out - TMI? LOL), but they certainly don’t work with the nighttime maternity bra I wear. I have some Medela pads someone gave me, which I actually forgot about until I read your post. I’m going to try them next. Thanks!

Abbysmom – Damn girl! An E? LOL! J/k. I measured myself today and seems I’m an E also … although I don’t think that measurement can be right. I don’t look like an E. Did you buy a super-duper Bravado/Medela bra? Awesome weight loss!

Jesseybell – Seems like everyone loves the medela disposable pads. I have some so I’m going to try them starting tomorrow. I wondered how the hands free kit worked … do you like it?

Man, have you guys noticed how many views this thread has compared to how many posts there are? I think we may have some lurkers in here!

Thanks for all your input on diapers and wipes. We are now in pampers size 1, but they are huge in Sophie’s bottom area. They just don’t seem to fit very well, but no leaks
(ever) so I like them. We’ve been using cotton balls and water to clean her up for the last week and that has been working well. Although, I purchased lansinoh wipes last week and my DH tried them out tonight and really liked them. We’ll see how they do. Hopefully they won’t cause another diaper rash. She has such sensitive skin!

S did well in the crib last night. Very exciting! She was really fussy in the middle of the night, but I think she was having terrible gas. It seems like she just doesn’t poopy in the middle of the night any more, even though she needs to. Maybe this is normal? She certainly makes up for it in the morning. LOL!

Sleep – Sophie still sleeps the majority of the day. She will sleep for 2hr – 4hr intervals and will wake to eat. Sometimes she’ll stay up and play for another hour, once in a while for 2 hrs, but many times she’ll just go back to sleep, I hope at 5 weeks that’s still ok. When she is awake, she is totally alert. It’s so cool to watch her look at things. She loves watching my mouth move, her mobile, and the fan. She rocks at tummy time and she tries to grab the toys hanging from her mat and her mobile. She’s so stinkin cute …I can’t stand it! :p

Ok back to watching football … but before I go here are some pictures of Sophie:

tgoody - I wouldn't worry too much about the view count vs post count, I know when I see a new post, I might click and check it out but not have time to post....I'm sure there are others like me. ;) As for Anita bras, they are pricey - they are a German company, but they are the.best.bras.ever. I have ONE non Anita nursing and ONE non-Anita regular bra (and I've got a rotation of, oh about 20?).

nursing bras: I wear the Anita nursing bras:
http://www.laurensilva.com/photos/anit-5075-2T.jpg
I have 5 of them and they are soooo comfortable. They are pricey ($37) but totally worth it since I plan of BFing for a while.

nursing pads: Medela disposables. I also have 2 sets of Lily Padz.

***

Even though Jake STTN in his swing on Friday night (11:50 - 6), he was up every 3 hours last night when he slept in his crib. It has to be the motion of the swing that keeps him asleep longer.

Yesterday I tried out Jake's "big boy" stroller (MacLaren Techno XT) for the first time. He has been hating the carseat more than ever and the SnugRide stroller just wasn't cutting it since he had to stay in the carseat. He loved the MacLaren. He was wide awake looking around and taking it all in...and then fell asleep like a log. We had a very long day being out and about and he was a perfect angel in that stroller. He even tolerated being put back in after being fed with no problem! Yay!

I honestly don't know what nursing bras I wear :o I bought two of the Wal-Mart brand (one sporty one lacey) and two from Motherhood maternity (one black and one w/ spaghetti straps). They all work fine.

Nursing pads - I wear Curity; not sure if that's the Wal-Mart brand or not. My mom got me the first box of those and we've just stuck with them because they work fine for me. I don't have problems with the pads showing through my shirt.

I'm happy when Reagan sleeps through the night, but the doctor told us not to expect it until she's about four months. Gee - thanks doc!

QOTD: What have you done since having DC that you wanted to do while pregnant?

Remember how we were all "dreaming" about margaritas and such - have you had one?

Besides ice cream (couldn't have with GD) and lunch meat (personal choice) I haven't had anything that I was craving during PG that I couldn't have. I was craving champagne; haven't had a glass. I could taste beer and really wanted some; haven't had a beer yet either. So, besides ice cream, lunch meat and DTD I haven't done anything I wished I could while pregnant.

Have any of you started a book of baby's firsts? If so where did you get it?

Nursing bra: I have two by Bravado. I love them. Like the Anita bras, they're pricey but I pay a little less by getting them on Ebay.

QOTD: What have you done since having DC that you wanted to do while pregnant?
I had a glass of the champagne I bought for New Year's. The day I bought it I found out I was pregnant, so it's been in the fridge waiting for me. :)

Cosmic – Our DC’s were born on the same day. Must have been a lucky day because, like you, I only pushed for 20 mins … we are lucky girls!

Agreed! :)

babylove - that's actually Anita's cheapest maternity bra. :p My mil owns a small shoppe (it started as a mastectomy, but she ventured into fuller figured and now into nursing) so I'm able to check out the catalogs and decide what to try. :) They have that bra in nude (my personal favorite), pink and white.

I don't know how you ladies do it. I'm having such a hard time keeping up with my CC time. :o Every time I sit down to type a post, I get interrupted and my post ends up being scrapped. But I do try to read along and catch up with you all.

nursing bras - Don't have a favorite bra yet. I've started using tanks. Just bought one from Target and it's working okay. I'm still looking for the perfect nursing tank/bra. I think I may try Bravado next...

nursing pads - I've ried all of them it seems, and have the same complaint. Currently using the Medela disposables.

Lily Padz - For those of you who have them, how are you liking them? I'm still debating if I should get a pair.

I had my first long stretch away from E today - 9 am to 5 pm. It wasn't as bad at first because I was doing something I love, and I trust my neighbor completely. We only called twice. But once half-time ended I almost started crying because I couldn't wait to get home to her. I went flying out of the car so fast! Going back to work is going to suck!

Pumping in the car was interesting. Since we were tailgating there were tons of cars around. DH stood outside the door so people wouldn't walk right next to me. I didn't even last 10 minutes though because it was so hot inside. I was pumping and dumping (as much as I hate to) so all I really needed to do was get enough to make myself comfortable.

Post Pregnancy Stuff - I eat blue cheese like it is going out of style. While blue cheese is pasterized, it really was the one thing I couldn't bring myself to cheat with.
Our house guests this weekend are 16 weeks along, so to hear her lament about deli meat and soft cheeses and alcohol was different. Definitely not a weekend I have missed being pregnant!

I was also reminded today of how miserable I was at the games last December because I couldn't clap and cheer because my boobs killed so much. I definitely don't miss the first trimester boob pain.

I saw an interesting NIP yesterday. A woman had actually brought her My Breat Friend pillow into the restaurant with her.

Lily Padz ~ I only use them if I'm getting dressed up but they've worked great for me!

Jessie ~ Very strange NIP story!! \

Jenny ~ Lucky me that I like the inexpensive Anita bras!! Do you get a discount at your MIL's store? My MIL used to work at an upscale lingerie store and she let me use her discount but that was before I was pg.

jennylou

babylove - yep, I get 40% off. :D Makes it a little easier when your favorite bras retail for over $60!

Tgoody: I LOVE LJ!! I didn't think to check BRU for nursing bras. Good idea!

Jenny ~ so jealous of that discount!!!

I forgot to post yesterday that I accidently left out 6 oz of EBM and forgot to refrigerate it so I had to dump it...made me want to cry!!!

***

Doing things since not being pg ~ I ate sushi! And all kinds of soft cheeses that I had been wanting. And drank wine.... :)

Babys Firsts ~ I bought this book but I don't love it b/c it doesn't have blanks for a lot of the things I'd want to add.

Last night wasn't good :( Reagan decided to scream from - oh - 6:30 until 9. I nursed her when I got home at 5 (I was full so she ate a lot) but it must not have been enough. I nursed her continually but she'd only eat for like 5 minutes before pulling off. So we gave her a quick bath and her bottle - which she left 2 ounces. She was asleep by 9:30 and decided to wake up at 1. And then again at 3 - and she didn't want to go back to sleep. So I had to stay up with her and hold her otherwise she screamed her head off. Of course she fell asleep right before we left for daycare - and I woke her up while putting her in the car seat.

Needless to say I'm exhausted today. DH didn't wake up with her mid-morning screamfest so he got some pretty okay sleep. He said I need to take a nap when I get home - mmm; naps are good.

ajlanden
10-09-2006, 10:32 AM
Jen-Sorry about the yucky night! I sure hope you are able to catch a nap!! Good for your DH for recognize that you are one tired mommy!

jessey-I am glad you survived your day! It is so hard to be away. I call my mom at least 5-6 times a day!

Mrs. M.-Ella is beautiful!!

tgoody03-You and Sophie look great!!! ONe of David's eye is still a little "gooky". Our pedi says he doesn't really worry about it until closer to 1 year.

Post Pregnancy Stuff -You name it, I've done it! (If it is legal, that is!) My favorite thing is sleeping on my belly. Everytime I get back into bed from a feeding, I roll right to my stomach. It feels "oh so right!" I am loving my wine too!

All the baby pics are so cute.

Finally started my diet last Tuesday and I already lost 5lbs....only 15 more to go.:( Date night with DH went well. We went to dinner where I had oysters and wine!!! We couldn't get into a movie so we ended up shopping for winter hats for the boys. Since my mom kept the boys, I was able to sleep until 830!!!!

Oysters and wine are the only things I have had that I have craved since having DS. My margarita phase must be over sin ce it is cooler out now.

Chimi ~ Sorry for the rough night.

Baylove ~ Maybe a scrapbook will work for baby first. That way you can add what you want (blank pages) and journal as much as you want. I am doing a scrapbook and baby book for Cohen which I like because my baby book has the basics and the scrapbook has lots of pics and descriptions of what was going on in his life.

Jesseybell ~ Glad you had fun at the game.

I haven't posted here in so long - I miss being a part of this group but I am just so exhausted and can never get the energy to post. I think I'm suffering from a mild case of PPD. I probably need to get out of the house more but I've been hit w/insomnia and can't sleep so it's hard to get the energy to go out when I'm so tired. I've also got about 30lbs to lose and the dreaded "overhang" from my C-section scar that doesn't seem to be getting any better. My dr. says the only way to get rid of it is to have a tummy tuck, but since we want 1 more kid I'm kind of stuck with it for a few more years.

Enough of my pity party. I try to read along everyday and keep up w/everyone. Sounds like you're all doing great and everyone's pics are sooo cute! Ava rolled over on her playmat the other day and is smiling and cooing all the time. She's such a doll!

tgoody~ I have not started back on dairy yet. We have M's 2-month appt on Oct. 19th and we are supposed to discuss it then. Hopefully I can start to add in a little something. DH wasn't thinking yesterday and brought home ice cream from the grocery store. He forgot that I couldn't have any. :(

Amy~ Those photos of Ava are great! She is such an angel.

Jen~ Hopefully tonight will be better.

QOTD~ I had a few beers on Saturday and they were GOOD!

Well...I was thinking that maybe I had M in too small of diapers since most of your babies had moved on to 1s and 2s. So I put him in size 1s the other day and 3 leaks later, we switched back to NB and we are leak-free again. I guess we really do have a long, skinny guy!

Question:
We bought some soy formula for emergency situations like when my parents are keeping him and they run out of EBM. I noticed after I opened the canister that it says that once opened we need to use the formula within a month. There is no way we will use all that in a month. Should that be followed strictly or is it ok if we use it for a few months? I should have read it at the store before I bought such a big canister, but it didn't occur to me that there would be a "use by" time limit on powder formula.

tgoody03

Camdynlyn - I checked the tag in my sleep bra from BRU to see the maker and it's Motherhood. There really is no support, it's just totally comfortable. I wear it around the house when I'm home ... I'm a DD when I'm full, but I hate wearing bras so I guess that's why I don't want a super-supportive bra when I'm sitting around at home. I'm all about comfort. I also have the Medela version of the sleep bra and it's to constricting and tight for my taste.

Here's the bra I have ... and I was right, it's very inexpensive at $11.99

UTChick - I'd probably follow the month pretty closely... We haven't opened our formula yet, but we bought a small canister for just that reason. I'd check with the doctor, though. BTW, DH wants to know if it's UT as in "hook 'em horns" or ? ;)

Reagan ate not too much at daycare today. Makes me a bit worried. She only at 4 ounces at a time; she had been up to 6 ounces per bottle. Which means day care threw out 8 total ounces (4 bottles x 2 ounces) of breast milk. I'm not blaming them, but you know...

UTChick
10-09-2006, 09:00 PM
Chimi~ Well, crap. That's going to be a waste of money. Maybe one of my friends could use some (or most) of it. Oh, it is UT as in "hook 'em!" :D

Chimichanga
10-10-2006, 08:05 AM
Kathy - or you could just give M half BM and half formula. Not mixing the two together (our doctor told us not too, but yours could say it's fine) but get him used to formula since it sounds like you'll be supplementing. I'm sure it will go quicker than you think it will. I mean, it's once scoop per two ounces, and I'm guessing M is up to at least 4 ounces per bottle - and possibly 6-8 bottles per day. So if you even gave him 3 bottles of formula per day that's six scoops (minimum) x 7 days a week x 4 weeks a month = 168 scoops. I'll let DH know :D

Not much to report. Finally family free, it feels great to be just us!

Nursing bra – I have Medela and Anita, def like Anita better and were less expensive, as a matter of a fact I need to buy some more but can’t find them anywhere.

Nursing pads – hated Lasinoh, like some of u said were itchy. Nowadays I am using Medela ones and really like them

QOTD: What have you done since having DC that you wanted to do while pregnant?- wine just had one glass but enjoyed every sip!!. Now that I think about it I missed sushi the most while preggo and I have not had any yet… guess what is in the menu for this weekend.

Abby’s mom- man I should probably get on your diet! Congrats on meeting your pre-pregnancy weight

Tgoody03- no worries about the class. I willl see u guys on Friday. Marc sleeps most of the day too, I think is normal, most of the girls had their babies earlier than us and at this age days/weeks difference make a huge difference. You look great btw and Sophie is a cuty!

JenniferH- nice break! And congrats on loosing your weight, I think I might have to get on a diet because this is being harder than I thought

Jen-I know that DAni had days where she woudl eat a ton and then days where she ate nothing. I am sure it is nothing, but it has to be frustrating when they throw out great mommy's milk. Sorry!

tgoody03-That is a cute bra for 11.99!

UTChick-Glad you are leak free again!! It is so funny how different our babies diaper sizes are!

amy-I am so sorry you are feeling down in the dumps. I hope you feel better soon! Those pic are TDF!! LOVE, love, love them!

QOTD-Nighttime routine anyone? Also, what time is bedtime?
We do a bath, a bottle and then bed. He has been doing pretty well falling asleep on his own when I put him down, but only if he is pretty drowsy.
David has been going down around 7:30-8. He usually wakes to eat once, but then wants to be UP at 4:00ish. I love the early bedtime and don't really want to fight him on it, but am wondering what everyone else doing?

Carmen ~ Sounds great! I buy Anita bras at a lingerie shop in the Lutherville area. It's called Bare Necessities and it's located at Greenspring Station. They have a pretty good selection and can order then for you if they don't stock your size. But, I've also ordered online from www.laurensilva.com and they are a tad cheaper (which evens out when you add shipping) and they have a huge selection. Good luck!

QOTD: Not much of a routine yet. It seems like if I try to put Jake to bed before his 10 or 11:00 feeding he just lays in bed and whines. So really, we just put on his pjs, feed him and hang out until it's time to feed him one last time and put him to bed. We don't bathe him everynight (per our ped's recommendation) yet, but we try to read stories depending on his mood.

We took Jake's 2 month portraits at Picture People today...

QOTD: We try to give R a bath at 9 and then give her a bottle. She goes to sleep anywhere from 9:30-10. Although, last night she fell asleep at 7:30 and woke up at 10:15. We skipped the bath and she ended up waking up again at 12:30.

She just sort of nodded off now (8:15) so I'm hoping she'll wake up by 9:30 for her bath and bottle.

I think Reagan's current growth spurt is over. For about the last, gosh, 3-4 weeks she was taking 6 ounces per bottle. She'd guzzle it and be fine. LAst week at daycare they had a 5 ounce bottle left out that we had to throw away. That kind of got me thinking that maybe she doesn't need as much BM anymore.

Yesterday I only gave her 4 ounce bottles (at most) and she was fine. She "struggled" to finish that amount. We tried a 6 ounce one before bed and she left 2 ounces. So, I think we'll go back to four ounces. This will definitely help our supply! Considering I can get about 8-9 ounces per pumping (3x daily) I can get more bottles and replenish our freezer supply. Whew! :)

Today was daycare picture day. DH took R in for that. He said she did good; she was looking at the camera for her individual picture and had just woken up - and was still a bit groggy - for the group one. At least she wasn't screaming her head off ;)

Wow, I am a bad threadmember and thradmistress! If someone would like to take my place as cothreadmistress, let me know!

Things are going okay with us. I started back at work last week, and it is killing me. I am exhausted all of the time. I really wish I could stay home with my baby. :( I am hoping it gets better with time. Luckily my mom and MIL and watching her, so that helps. My mom is watching her this month, and then every Monday after. Then MIL will start keeping her 3-4 days a week.

QOTD-Nighttime routine anyone? Also, what time is bedtime? We were starting our nighttime routine at 9pm, but I am trying to move it up since I've been back to work. I nurse her, DH bathes her, then I get her dressed and we snuggle in the glider. I nurse her again if she is fussy, but usually rocking her puts her right to sleep. She usually goes to bed 30 minutes after we start our routine, but sometimes it takes up to an hour. Once she is asleep, she sleeps a good 5-7 hour stretch, then wakes every 2-3 hours after that.

Speaking of sleep...We are trying to get E to take better/longer naps during the day. She wants to stay awake and fights sleep so much during the day. I think she is afraid that she will miss something!

My dad ordered E the kangaroo costume from Babystyle for Halloween. It is a little big on her, but so cute!

babylove Jake is a cutie!

Major Vent ahead!!

What is it with men and diapers? Seriously!

Yesterday after work I had to run and get the dog more food and then I stopped by Wendy's because DH didn't take anything out for dinner and didn't feel like cooking. When I get home I generally nurse Reagan so I can't cook. I get home about 6 or so and immediately feed Reagan.

DH decides to be "helpful" and unwraps my dinner. She normally nurses for 30 minutes and I had just started.

So, I'm sitting there and all of a sudden I feel wetness. I look down and she's leaking. Not #1 mind you! I take her over to her Pack n Play (where we change her downstairs) and it is ALL OVER the poor girl. I have to wiggle her out of her outfit (pulling it down rather than over her head). She's got it all over her legs so I decide to give her a bath earlier than normal. My burger is still sitting unwrapped on the table. Not only does she have it all over her, I get it on my new pants and new top. I know my clothes are going to get messy with a baby; I'm not mad about that.

While I'm bathing Reagan, DH decides to be helpful (doesn't wrap my dinner) and throws her messy clothes, my clothes, the lap pad and PnP sheet in the washer. I ask what temperature he's washing at. He said warm. My clothes are cold wash only and the top was a hand wash I think. I just bought them...

So, I'm thinking I wasted $60 on that outfit. What kills me is that DH will "guilt" me about spending money on work clothes that I need because I'm losing weight. I don't buy casual clothes because I hardly wear them. But then he goes and ruins my outfits for me.

After I finish Reagan's bath and get her dressed, I bring her downstairs to finish eating. She's done at about 7:30. When I, finally, get to eat my very cold burger with the slightly stale bun. Yeah, it was a good night last night. As a note: this is the FOURTH time a DH diaper has leaked stinkies over people. Twice on me, and twice on him. But, I'm ALWAYS the one to clean her up after it happens. Grrr....

My gosh, I am soooo far behind. We had the entire downstairs painted and now the floors are being ripped out right now. I take the kids out to stay out of the house but it's HARD. Plus it's hard for me bringing both the little ones out together because my DS tries to run off. Frustrating. But here are a couple pics of Miss Allison from the pumpkin patch. Sorry they are a little big. She is a Chili Pepper for Halloween. DH and I originally met in 96 when we both were food servers there, LOL! So it was a fitting costume. DS will be Superman and my older DD a ninja - she's a tomboy!

Such cute pics ladies!!! We have some cute babies 'round here :)

Does anyone notice that the longer your baby sleeps during the night, the more s/he sleeps during the day? Jake slept for his longest interval last night (6 1/2 hours) and has been sleeping all freaking day. Tonight he slept from 6:00 to 8:45 in his carseat, during dinner...and usually he wakes up when he is in the carseat but not moving (i.e. not in the car). And we even woke him up at 8:45 b/c he was due to eat 45 mins before. I hope this doesn't mean that he will be up all night long....

We have had the absolute worst few nights with Sophie. OMG! I thought the child was never going to sleep. I think it was Tues night ... we couldn't get her down in her crib until almost 1:15. Then she woke up at 3:45 and stayed awake until 7:00 am. I was a zombie. But, last night, S slept from 11:15 to 5:45 in her crib. WOW! I know this was probably a fluke and a rather long time to sleep without eating, but I felt so reenergized today since I had lots of sleep. Hopefully she'll sleep good tonight. Good these days is 3 -4 hr stretches :)

We went to the pumpkin patch in North GA today. S's first time in the mountains. Ok, it's not like we hiked or anything, but she saw some orange and red leaves on the trees. That's a big deal because both DH and I are from Florida and there is no such thing as orange and/or red leaves. I'll post a picture when I do the SOs.

Tomorrow I am going with babywish to a mother's group. I missed the first class last week, but I know they learned infant massage and discussed stuff. This week I think we are doing some massage, some exercises with babies, and taking a walk. I'm looking forward to getting together with some other mamas.

Started officially working out today. I've already been walking between 1.5 - 2 miles 3 -4 days per week in my neighborhood (it's hilly!). But today I took my first pilates class. I'm stoked about working out again - feels good.

BFing - Anybody else feed baby til she's full and then pump afterwards and get at least 6 oz? I feel like a milk factory. This morning I pumped before I went to workout and didn't feed S. DH gave her a bottle of EBM. I pumped more than 12 oz. Crazy!

Milestone - Today S made some really big cute smiles for the first time. I could definitely tell these smiles weren't "gas." Oddly enough, the smiles came when I was changing her. She's just so precious, I can't stand it!

SOs to follow shortly!

K&H Mommy - Elizabeth is going to be the chili pepper too. Our joke is that DH tried growing them this summer and wasn't highly successful, but we did great at growing our own little chili pepper.

We had E's 2 month WBV today. She is 11 lb 7 oz (50%), 23" (75%) and not sure the size of her head but she is at 75% there as well. He was very happy with her stats. I was a little freaked out at how little she's gained since she was born (2 lb, 3 oz) but since she was so big to begin with we don't want her to have gained 4-5 lbs like other kids or she'd be off the charts!

She cried a little for the shots, but now is playing happily in her PNP.

We have to go to physical therapy because her head does tilt to one side and now the neck muscles are uneven. Of course I couldn't get an appointment until November 21st.

We also did get a verbal spanking for letting her sleep in her vibrating chair all the time because it is not good for her back. Also, he wants her sleeping in her crib by 4 months. So starting this weekend we are going to try our damndest to get her to sleep in her bassinet or move her to her bassinet after she falls asleep. We are also going to try to put her down earlier. He doesn't see the need to try to get her to go to bed at 7 or 8 quite yet. I also am going to work harder on keeping her up more during the day so she is tired in the evening instead of wide awake like she is now.

This morning I was having one of my 'I want to quit pumping' moods because it is going to be very hard to do once I go back to work since I will need to pump as well as feed her (unless DH does it) before leaving the house at 7-7:15. But after talking to the doctor I've committed myself to at least trying pumping at work. If I can get to 3 months he would be very happy. I've told myself if it really doesn't work then I have the long Thanksgiving break to work on weaning. So back to taking the exclusive pumping one day, one week at a time.

Do you have a Steve and Barry's by you Jennifer? All of their clothes (99%) sell for $6 or less. The quality is okay and the fit is good. Even if you trash them, they are only $6.

K&H's Mommy & Jennylou - cute pictures!!

babylove I agree about time flying; I really can't believe it either! I've noticed lately that R will sleep good during the day AND night - used to be one or the other. But, she usually is awake from about 3 - 10 p.m. with an occassional 20-40 minute cat nap.

tgoody - sorry about the past few nights :( And you do sound like a milk machine! That's good though because when S goes through growth spurts you'll be able to handle her demand and still stash some.

Jessie - good luck with the transition to the bassinet. Our transition with Reagan wasn't too bad and I hope you have the same luck.

******
This morning I had the BIGGEST scare ever. Reagan was waking up around 1 to eat (slept about 3 hours so it was normal) I go in and she's breathing with difficulty then she stopped breathing for about 20 seconds! She was so congested. She started coughing (and breathing again) and I freaked out. I yelled for DH to get the bulb syringe - it was amazing that I woke him up with my first yell. I suctioned the heck out of her nose and got a ton of mucus. Poor girl! She was still so congested but breathing better.

I normally will put her back in the crib, but I kept her in the bassinet. Once she fell asleep her breathing was fine; no congestion. But when she woke up - that's when the problems arose. I had to suction her twice more this morning. I gave DH instructions to either suction or take her in to the doctor immediately.

I was so worried this morning. She seemed to be doing better when I left for work. She was smiling away so I know I didn't scar her too badly with my frantic suctioning.

K&H's mommy adorable Halloween outfits! DD is going to be a pumpkin - I don't think much else would fit her. She's a long, lean baby! We also have that cute top and a reversible bib...too fun.

I've been out of pocket for a while. Traveled home to TX when DD was only 7.5 weeks for a family wedding and her baptism. Flying with her was a huge success -- nursed on ascent and descent, and she otherwise slept in between. DH had to return home early for work, so I was especially nervous about the return flight without him, but she slept like an angel.

Thought I'd post a few of our latest pics, too. She's been smiling tons, and tends to give me a beautiful grin each time she wakes up. Nothing sweeter in the world!

I really can't believe how time has flown. I return to work at the end of this month which kills me... but we found a wonderful daycare for DD and I know it'll do us both good to be out of the house a bit.

Sending smiles to all you moms in the group -- hope you're all having as much fun as we are!

Thanks for your thoughts on the formula issue. I have a friend who is no longer BFing her 9 month old. They are using her freezer stash and supplementing with formula. I think I am going to give her half of the canister so that I don't have to throw any away.

QOTD I should've also responded to this when I posted yesterday... our nighttime and nap routines have been going pretty smoothly over the last couple of weeks, so I thought I'd post what we're up to. We've been reading Healthy Sleep Habits, which at first I found a bit too scientific for my tastes, but perhaps in those early super-sleep deprived days my poor brain just couldn't absorb it! After really committing to only allowing DD to be awake a max of 2 hours during the day, I'm a believer!

DD goes down at night around 7:30/8 p.m. I change her diaper, put her in pj's, nurse her and read to her while rocking in the glider. She tends to be asleep rather quickly, so I then put her in a tight swaddle in her bassinet for the night. This feels more like a nap, b/c she's usually awake around 11 or so for a feeding. But we've had a few nights where she's slept all the way through until 6 a.m. or so. If she does wake it's usually around 3 for a feeding, but she goes back down easily. Even after waking at 6 a.m. to nurse she naps within an hour of that and often isn't up for the day until 8/9. Her afternoon naps seem to stretch to 2-3 hours on top of all this; the book says "sleep begets more sleep" and this seems a testament to that.

We aren't bathing daily either, but every two days. I'm doing that during the morning between naps right now, but will shift this to nighttime when I return to work in a few weeks.

Jen sorry to say we have the same leaky poopy diaper problems. DD is in size 1 now, but they still can't hold in the explosive stuff... Lots of laundry. I fear I'll need not one, but 2-3 backup outfits for daycare! Did read to try and use a size up at nighttime, but it seems like those would be huge on her. Has anyone else tried that?

tgoody hope you've had some more restful nights!

Elizabeth slept in her bassinet last night :) After her last feeding (finally done in a very dim room without the tv on) I put her in her chair for a bit and then moved her to her bassinet. Of course there was a 4 am feeding for the first time in weeks and weeks. I think in the chair she was able to put herself back to sleep more easily. She didn't cry at 4 am but was babbling and cooing enough to wake us. DH was wonderful and got up to do the feeding! She went back down in the bassinet fairly easily until I got her up at 7:45.

I am not 100% convinced that her sleeping pretty well in there didn't have something to do with her getting her shots yesterday. But we'll try again tonight.

After a few nights of successful bassinet sleeping we will move to putting her down after her 8-9 pm feeding and then feeding her again before we go to bed. We've tried this in the past but she would only fall asleep if one of us was in the room. Now that we've got a second DVR in the bedroom I can watch tv in with her if need be.

I also finally uploaded 'For Crying Out Loud' to our ipod as well as some lullabies, so if she needs it we have it. Though our humidifier seems to produce enough white noise.

swaddle before or after feeding? - DD has never been one to fall asleep during or right after a bottle, so when we swaddle her after her last feeding (11:30 pm) she's pretty awake. I wonder if I swaddle her before her feeding if she'll fall asleep faster. Though I have also read that they shouldn't be swaddled while feeding.

babylove- We don't put E down until 11:30 or 12 - DH is a night owl and I've been staying up until after 11 to do my last pumping, so it hasn't been a problem. Probably the reason that we haven't tried putting her down earlier is because then she'd probably wake up around 1-2, while putting her down at 11:30 she's STTN and has been since 1 month old. I think when we work on moving up her bed time we'll still wake her up to feed her around 11 - 11:30 (before DH goes to bed) until we know she can go from 9-6 am.
E doesn't sleep in the evening - it is her most awake time. Probably more due to daddy being home and playing with her more. Things will probably be different once she's in daycare.

Cosmic Kai is cute, and super hip looking in his "soul baby" onesie!

Baby Love We've been putting DD down for what is really a final nap b/w 7:30/8 and that 10/11 feeding. We rock her, swaddle her and put her in her crib. I've been using a white noise CD - the rainfall track on repeat, and turning off all the lights except her lamp or nightlight. Seems to work well. She'll sleep for 1-2 hours before that last feeding. Hope it helps! BTW, she's not in the crib overnight - still in our room in her bassinet, but we're working on having naps in the crib.

babylove - we usually put Reagan down between 9:30-10:30. She generally zonks out when she has her night bottle. She may wake up a bit when we put her in the crib, but she'll fall back asleep within 10 minutes. We don't rock her to sleep because the crib doesn't rock and the change in motion has woken her up in the past. She'll go until 2-3 usually. She may wake up earlier, but she just babbles to herself quietly and it doesn't wake me up.

Reagan is still snotty; I think she has a cold. :( She was just crying for about an hour straight. We put her on her tummy and that seems to help. I gave her some gas drops this morning too. She's been having major (and stinky) gas but no BM. I know this can be okay if the baby is formula fed. She's had 2 formula bottles and I wonder if it's starting to take a number on her. :(

Jen, Logan has a cold too. Poor little guy got it from his big sister a week or so ago. Awful, isn't it, to see them so stuffy? Hope she's over it soon.

Tracee, Logan pretty much still dictates his own schedule at this point. He typically falls asleep at 8 or so, but we don't put him down til we go to bed at about 10. We did the same thing with Abby and she's fine. We figure if it worked the first time... ;) Of course, he still only sleeps in 3-4 hour stretches (and boy, that sucks).

*************

Honestly, and I'm being really serious, if Logan ONLY cried a few hours a day, I'd be thrilled. He's still crying 6 or 7 hours a day - most of his awake-time. It's very frustrating, especially since I'm cutting everything I enjoy out of my diet. I'm pissed off that I have one of the 6% of babies who have food sensitivities. And I'm pissed that he's one of the less than 1% who has a SERIOUS sensitivity (or two or three). I'm pissed that I can't just eat and enjoy and nurse rather than reading every effing label to make sure there's no dairy, wheat, eggs, berries, nuts, or soy in it (which, BTW, is a total PITA. EVERYthing has one of those ingredients. I can pretty much eat rice. Plain old white rice). But anyway.

From the pumpkin patch today; at least he's cute (I don't know why Photobucket is making these so friggin' huge! I re-sized and everything but still giant):

Ok so I just bit the bullet and started Ferberizing....Jake *never* naps in his crib and lately (see above post) won't even sleep there at night. So I put him in his crib at his regular nap time this morning and he cooed and played in there for a while (20 mins) before crying. I let him cry for 5 mins (drowned out by the hairdryer b/c I hate hearing him cry!) and then went in and rubbed his tummy, told him "mommy is here" etc. He stopped crying. I left the room. He started crying. Repeat times two. Then he fell asleep!! He's been asleep for 15 mins which is 15 mins longer than he has ever slept in the crib during the day. Yay!! I'm actually excited to try this tonight to see if it works!!

ETA: Oh and this is funny...one of the times I went into his room to rub his belly, he stopped crying, opened his eyes and gave me a HUGE smile...as if that would be enough to get me to pick him up. LOL! A little manipulative man already! BTW, it didn't work ;)

Some much overdue QOTDs & S/O's

schedule/bedtime - I usually put Allison down at about 9pm. She varies when she wakes up to eat, usually 1 or 2 and then again at about 5 or 6. I am not complaining about her sleep at all. My DS was awake every 2-3 hours until he was almost 6 months old. UGH. She is still in the room with us but her nursery is almost done! We just have to hang the chandlier.

bras -I have a few from Motherhood that are so-so. I'd like to get some nicer ones but just haven't had the time to do so. Hopefully soon!

post-pregnancy stuff - another belly sleeper here, so happy to be back on my belly! I've also been downing the ceasar salad and a couple days ago I had eggs benedict. Mmmmm...... We've also had some wine here and there which was nice.

S/O's as far as I can see....

babylove - sorry for the sleep issues. My DD would only sleep in her infant carseat so that's where she slept the first few months. I would let her sleep ANYWHERE if that meant getting some sleep for me!

sherry - so sorry that he's still so damn fussy. I would be pulling my hair out right now. I'm jealous of your weight loss though even though it's been hell for you to get there!! Allison is definitely my fussiest baby yet but not as bad as Logan. He is definitely adorable though!

jesseybell- ya for another chili pepper!!! Elizabeth looks adorable! Oh and I swaddle before feeding at night time. Then I just burp and lay her down. Keep up the pumping if you can! 3 months sounds like a good goal. Then if it's going well at 3 months maybe you can do 4 months....

cosmic - Kai is so cute, I love that little onesie he has on!!!

dandygirl - That book saved my life with DS. A couple days after reading it he went from waking up every 2-3 hours to sleeping 14 hours straight. Unreal. He also had a 5:30pm bedtime which everyone though was crazy but it worked and we were ALL so much happier. Adorable pictures there!

UTchick - I hope your brother is doing good! Love that picture, that onesie is so cute. I just love onesies with little sayings on them!

chimichanga - sorry about the scare!!!! I like to use saline drops and drop those in the nose and then suck it out. It helps break up the mucous. I hope she is feeling better soon. It breaks my heart to see my kids sick!

JenniferH - I got some good DKNY jeans at the Nordstrom Rack, don't know if you have one near you? They are a little stretchy so I can squeeze myself into them. I have a while to go before squeezing into my prepregnancy jeans though. boooo.....

TGoody - hopefully you have gotten sleep since your last post! How did the mommy's group go? Ya for smiles!

jennylou - Nora is such a doll, looks like she is trying to talk in that picture!

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

We are still having sleep issues with Sophie. Ugh. I shouldn’t really call it “sleep issues” because she sleeps fine. It’s really “putting me in my crib” issues. S still does not want to sleep in her crib or PNP or anything flat in the evening. It takes a long time to get her down in the evening, but it’s almost impossible to get her back to sleep when she wakes to nurse between 3 and 5 am. Her feeding time has varied, with some nights as far as 5 hrs between feedings (yay!). It’s like as soon as we lay her down, she’s wide awake. I feel like this is a more common problem than not since I’ve heard others have this problem. Swaddling really tightly does help and generally that’s how we get her to sleep at night. Doesn’t seem to help as much at 3 am. Anyone have any suggestions?

SO’s

lurkers – When I mentioned this earlier, I wasn’t mentioning it because I was worried or annoyed. That didn’t really cross my mind. I was just thinking “wow, look at all the August mommies out there who aren’t posting!” My original thought was we must be talking about important or fun things for others who don’t post to want to read along. But I didn’t think about all the times we read the thread and don’t post. Just wanted to clarify!

Jennylou – Thanks for the suggestion on the Anita bra. I purchased one online and it should be here tomorrow. They had exactly what I was looking for – a lightly lined bra with no underwire. It definitely wasn’t one of the cheaper ones, but if I like it the cost will be worth it. Hopefully I love it! I couldn’t find a lined nursing bra anywhere. Thanks again.

Oops, gotta go nurse. We are trying to put S in her crib earlier to see if we can get her in her crib easier. Instead of waiting until 11 to put here there (after her last feeding) we are going to try now (after her mid-evening feeding).

She's doing okay. Sleeping is getting better but still a little rough. I'm calling about possible reflux this week.

This is a record breaking night. Sophie is still sleeping in her crib! I think I laid her down around 8:15 right after nursing her. DH gave her a bath, I nursed her, and then put her down. She should probably wake up around 11 or so for another feeding. So far, so good. Let’s see how it is at 3:00 am.

DH and I had a date night on Friday. We went to see John Mayer at this outdoor amphitheater. I love JM! It was a great concert, very low-key, but that’s perfect for this outdoor venue. You can bring a picnic basket and wine … so it’s a nice romantic night if the concert is right and the weather is nice. It was a bit cold (in the 50’s) but we cuddled in a blanket and drank merlot and that warmed us up. It was very nice indeed!

Rest of the SO’s

QOTD - What have you done since having DC that you wanted to do while pregnant? Have to admit, I enjoy having a glass of wine with dinner and beer on Saturdays during football season. So I’ve been indulging in those things. I have also been eating deli turkey again. Yum! I’m “kinda” a vegetarian and this is one of the only sandwich meats I eat (weird, I know). I’d love to sleep on my tummy again, but it hurts my boobs. I wish I could be like you others that are BFing and managing to sleep on your tummies!

Babylove – I like the Anita bra you posted. Can you see any of the lines of the bra under regular shirts? That’s been my problem with nursing bras so far … I can always see the line of the inner bra, which is why I was looking for a lined bra. I thought that might hide the line. I’m convinced that it’s not so much the motion of the swing that keeps the babies awake, as much as lying in some position other than flat! Oh, and S always sleeps fine in the evening before 11, just not at 3 am!

Mrs. M – Ella is a cutie! I wasn’t trying to call anyone out for lurking. Sorry if it seemed that way.

Cosmic- A book of babies firsts … like a baby album? Where you put things about family, etc along with firsts? I got this one at www.allaboutsavvy.com …. But you can also get it at www.aimeej.com. I didn’t want anything to babyish.

http://www.aimeej.com/photos/KA-LX-2T.jpg

Ajlanden – Thanks! I love that pic of S and I b/c I love her little onesie. I hope David’s eye is better now. S’s if finally empty of gook! My ped. said the same thing about the 1 year thing with the eye. I just didn’t want her to have gook in it for a year! Davey is adorable. Love the big smile in that pic! In regards to your QOTD about bedtime, I’m not putting my 2cents in since ours doesn’t work. LOL

Babywish – Had a great time with you on Friday. It was great to see you and to finally meet Marc. I think S really liked him! See you this Friday! Thanks again for letting me know about the class.

Babylove – OMG! Love the pea-in-the-pd Jake!!

K&H – Love your DS shirt! It is very similar to mine. I also bought another that says “Daddy Forever” on the front and then has a heart on the side of the arm, where someone would put like a “mom” tattoo or something like that. It’s really cute. Love Allison’s chili pepper picture. The pumpkin is huge next to her! I’m glad you post pics on here too. Keep posting!

jennylou – Eleanor is absolutely beautiful. I love her dark hair and her big eyes. Is her hair black or a dark brown?

Chimi – Wow, that story is scary. I was thinking that if it were me in that situation, I wouldn’t have known what to do. I’m glad everything is ok! As far as nursing, seems I always have enough. Even if I pump and she wants to nurse 15 mins later …. I have enough! I’ve learned that milk is always there if you need it.

Dandygirl – Madeleine is adorable! She looks like a long, slender happy baby.

UTChick – Love the baby picture! He’s such a cutie … I love baby yawns.

jesseybell – That is the cutest pic of Elizabeth. She is actually one of the only babies I’ve seen that doesn’t look totally unhappy in her costume. Cool.

Out of time … S just woke up for her feeding. Finish SO’s soon. Man, I get so far behind sometimes!

sleeping on my stomach -not! I find myself only sleeping on my back, even though I love sleeping on my side (go figure, while pregnant I dreamed of sleeping on my back and hated my side) but I find even my side is pretty uncomfortable for my boobs. Or maybe it is because I know if I sleep on my back I won't wake up having leaked everywhere where as my side, if the nursing pads have shifted I wake up with a mess.

E has slept the bassinet three nights in a row :) The 4 am feeding Saturday morning must have been a fluke because the last 2 nights have been STTN!

We had dinner with our neighbors last night who have a 15 month old. It was so nice to hear from parents who will admit that getting their child on a schedule is not easy and will freely talk about the difficulties of parenthood that still exist for them. We have some friends who just preach about schedules and make it sound like their child and them adapted in a matter of days. Yeah, right!

tgoody03 - Believe me, we have plenty of pictures of E in her costume of her crying! She hated having the hood on.

tgoody ~ Re: the Anita bras...if you place your breast pad between the inner bra and the outer bra, you won't see the inner bra through your shirt at all (or the breast pad for that matter!). I really love the Anita bra!

Jessie ~ That's great about E STTN! I can't wait until Jake gets there...

***

Night 1 of Ferberizing Jake went well. He went to sleep (after bath, book and feeding) at 10:15 and slept until 2:30. That was the only time I had to let him cry for a few minutes. The 2nd time I went in to "visit" him, he fell asleep while I was in the room. Woohoo!! I just put him down for a nap in his crib (!) and so far so good. He's still awake, grunting, but not crying...

We had an interesting weekend (I'll do SOs later).

I found out that DH's family thought I was too protective of Reagan and that I favor my family. This really grinds my gears. When they thought I was "too protective" she wasn't even a month old. If you moved her she woke up screaming her head off and wanting to eat. I didn't have that many bottles and wasn't going to pop out the boob infront of DH's family. And yes, I do favor my family. Because they actually offer to help us with the baby so I'm going to call them more.

Anyways, I got pissy and decided I'm going to be the bigger person. I bent my rule about going to ILs and we went for a visit. MIL held R the entire time (fine by me). FIL moped on his couch like he always does. They got a new dog that they had to lock up. Another reason not to take R over there. Neither DH nor I trust this dog. Then we stopped by SILs house for a visit.

We reminded everyone that they are welcome over to our house any time they want; just call first. We also told them that it can be a pain packing R up for trips. While we may go down by my parents more; we're also there for 2-3 days so it's "worth" it. why don't people realize this?

Reagan is feeling better; not as stuffy. We put her in her swing last night because she seems to sleep better when she's elevated. She STTN from 10-5:30!! I'm not counting on it tonight, but it would be great if she did.

So much to catch up on!!!! Let see how well I can do...

Jen-I am sorry about the IL drama. That is terrible! I can see why you favor your family!!! I am glad R is feeling better!!

Tracee-Yay for a good night sleep! :D That is fantastic! I am a BIG fan of STing. David is so much better of a sleeper than Dani was and it is totally because I have done some early STing with him. It seriously makes things so much easier in the future! Great job! OH and the early bedtime thing...I don't know if my kids just were born with an early bedtime, but both David and Dani go down around 7:30. The only thing that I am reallly strict about is their bedtime routine. David knows that once we finish the routine, he goes to his crib and falls asleep. I don't know if that helps at all...

jessey-Yay for STTN!!! Anybody who says schedule a child is easy is lying!!! Just when you "think" you have them figured out, they change. It IS hard!

tgoody03-So jealous of your date! It sounds divine!!! I hope your night went well! Oh David's eye is still bad. BOO! At least it is only one of them.

K&H's mommy-That is such a great picture!! She looks like a young lady!

Abby'sMom-You are right, he is CUTE! I am sorry you are still having a rough time. That magic 3 month age is coming up soon. I hope all the fussiness disappears!!

What's up with us? Same old, same old! David is doing really well. I mentioned to Tracee that we have been doing some early STing methods, as well. He is eating them up and has become a good sleeper, for the time being. By the technical defination he STTN most nights (7:30-3ish). He will then go back down until around 6. Since DD gets up at 6, I have to be up anyway. My definition of STTN is that mommy doesn't get out of bed until 6!! Hey, I can dream, right?

I am back down to my prepreggo weight, but still have a big squishy tummy. I wonder if it will ever go down. Two kids in less than two years has done a number on my body!

Just wanted to post the pics my brother took of M when he was 3 1/2 weeks old. He had meant to bring his equipment, but it didn't happen with him getting sick and all. So we did these with his digital camera and some make-shift draping. I think they turned out well.

Because I'm starting to make my list....

QOTD: Are you buying DC holiday presents?

I'm torn on this one. I know everyone in our family (ILs, OSIL, YSIL, my parents and my sister) are all going to go nuts buying Reagan. She's going to get so many toys/outfits it will be nuts. I know she won't be lacking for anything (really, is any child lacking for toys?)

In the same breathe, I would like to buy Reagan some fun stuff this Christmas. I'd like to buy her some cool toy and wrap it under our tree. But then I remind myself; she's so young she won't know what the heck is even going on! She may be able to sit up by herself, but the motor skills to open presents probably won't be too strong. And she'll get bored opening presents.

What are other moms doing?

Summer~ Mia looks so precious in those sunglasses!

tgoody~ Thanks! What a great date night you had! That sounds like so much fun.

Abby'sMom~ I am sorry about all the restrictions on your diet. I have a friend who had a lot of restrictions at first, too. Her son is now 7 months old and she is able to eat most things again. Hopefully Logan's sensitivities won't last too much longer. I don't know how you do it. I am doing the dairy and soy free diet and that is hard enough. You are a very dedicated mommy!! :)

K&H's mommy~ My brother is doing really well. He is back at work now. Allison is such a big girl sitting up in that chair!

Jen~ Thanks! I haven't even thought about Christmas presents. We haven't bought M his convertible car seat yet, so he may be getting that! ;)

jesseybell
10-16-2006, 02:41 PM
Presents - We are going to ask the grandparents to contribute to the two convertible car seats that we'll need. We aren't asking them to buy them since at least I am getting a new car next spring (DH has a Jetta which is going to be very hard to get a convertible car seat in but we're going to try to wait to upgrade until DC #2 because the infant car seat really doesn't fit anywhere except the center).

I really hope the grandparents don't go overboard. I am totally sounding like my parents, but I'd much rather her have fewer nicer toys than them buying out Toys R Us. Plus we just don't have the room for a lot of toys.

Clothes will definitely be welcome - we have a ton of 0-3 month and 3-6 month, but not much beyond that.

DH decided to call in sick today. It was a really welcome surprise. I went about my day as normal (even with the eyes rolling about all my crappy day time TV) but it was really nice to have the extra set of hands when I didn't expect to. I've gotten quite a bit done today.

Presents We are hoping/asking that the fam contribute to DD's college fund. DH and I have talked about giving her a bookcase for her room -- she'll be too little to enjoy toys/gifts, but she loves when we read to her. Since that is something we want to encourage, I thought it might be fun to give her something we can build on for years to come.

Jesseybell great idea on clothes. M's closet looks very similar with loads of stuff up to 6 mos.

Presents-Not sure what to do about this. Clothes, car seats and college are all great ideas. DD's b-day is right before x-mas and by then we will be paying for 2 in daycare, so money will be tight at least for the parents. I am sure the grandparents will more than make up for it.

10-16-2006, 05:28 PM
Presents - We have enough toys as it is, no need for more. Really, I just don't think babies really need toys. We're hoping in lieu of toys & clothes, they will contribute to DD's savings account instead.

Abby'sMom
10-16-2006, 06:01 PM
Presents - I'd never ask anyone to give a monetary gift (even though I want to ;) ). But that's DH and I and to each their own. We're sort of lucky in that most of my family members will just send a check anyway, since we're 3K miles away. We've been collecting presents for our DD all year (just little things), and hopefully some people will get her some clothes in 2T (or 3T... she's two weeks from being 2, but very tall). Logan... well, he'll get some books. And probably some larger clothes. But otherwise, he can use DD's old toys.

After another morning of constant screaming, I called Logan's ped yet again, and he suggested we see a Pediatric GI specialist to find out what's going on once and for all. - He seems to have both bad reflux and abdominal pain issues, just based on his behavior. Unfortunately, the soonest appointment I could get is SIX WEEKS away. Ugh. I'm hoping someone cancels and we can go in last-minute one day.

Kathy, sweet pictures! I love baby profiles.

STing - Our ped says not to do it til 3 months, especially if you're BFing. I'd settle for Logan just sleeping for 4 or 5 hours at this point!

abbysmom-I posted in your LJ, but I am so sorry you have to wait 6 weeks. That seems like an eternity. ~hugs!~

Sting-I guess I should clarify. I am not "STing" as in letting him CIO or anything. By "early" Sting, I mean starting night time and nap time routines and trying to get him to fall asleep on his own. We didn't start letting DD cry until around 5-6 months and even then it was only for minutes at a time. Just wanted to explain myself....

Have a super day ladies!

Presents ~ Since he doesn't really play with toys we probably won't do much. Probably just a token gift since it's his first Chanukah. But I know that my praents, ILs and grandparents and other family will be giving him gifts (which is another reason NOT to get him anything ourselves). But if people ask, I will tell them to buy him things the he can play with between now and his first b-day and I'll just put away the stuff that's too old for him.

Sleep Training ~ Somehow I missed this QOTD...or is there one? We are sort of Ferberizing Jake. My ped said it was ok to start at 2 months and that's what we did. We just let him cry for 5 minutes at a time. So far so good and his sleep has gotten A LOT better.

Even though it was my QOTD, I'll respond even more about presents. I know my parents will be contributing to R's college fund. They asked how much it would be to get it started and that will be her baptism gift. My grandpa had given us money for college every major holiday growing up and my mom said she'd do the same for Reagan. MIL on the other hand will buy all age-inappropriate toys (just too old for her now) and will want her to play with them.

I called our doctor today because Reagan's not getting over her cold. I keep suctioning her nose but hardly getting anything out (sorry for the lovely picture that may have painted). She was sleeping better on an incline (in her car seat, the swing, in our arms/boppy) but she's waking herself up now because she can't breathe all that well. Thankfully I'm home with her today. I'm hoping they can just tell me what I should do without having to go in. It's just yucky outside today and the less we have to take her out, the better.

presents - We will buy something small from "santa" since the other kids would notice if we didn't buy her anything! But I don't buy birthday gifts for my kids until they notice. THey get so much other stuff it's ridiculous. I have begged my family to contribute to a savings account or something but they won't. Some buy savings bonds so I'll take it. Ok..so I have been without a computer for over a week, so I have just now had the chance to catch up on this thread. SO's seem so behind:o

Chimi - I used the saline drops a few times and it seemd to work really well for Lily. Good luck!

QOTD's :

Presents - Had't really thought about it. But, I do agree with everyone that Lily is so young she won't really know what is going on. I know my parents won't go overboard, but I am not sure about the IL's. I don't really like telling people what to buy, so the only thing I can do is show them by example. DH and I are NOT going to buy a bunch of stuff for her.I would rather get her just one or two things that commerate her 1st christmas (maybe a stuffed animal, Christmas ornament (and do that every christmas), a special blanket, a book or something like that)

Sleep training - I have to say that I am a bit confused about this whole topic. First, there are so many methods out there that I am not sure which one is right. Secondly, Lily seemed to put herself on a "routine" so to speak as far as night time sleep goes (she goes down about 9:30-10:00pm, after her bottle) and sleeps until 6:15-7am. I didn't do anything special, it just kind of happened. Now, I would like her to go down earlier...but not sure how to attempt that. Her daytime naps are a bit sporatic, but nothing unbearable. I guess I just don't know how to attempt ST b/c I don't know what type of schedule I should be teaching her? Does that make sense?

No time for real SO's right now I will do them later today. :)

Sting- Not really planning on anything. I did have to let Isaac CIO at about 5-6 mos because I started a position in nights and he had been co-sleeping. That sucked but it really didn't take long before he got over it.

Presents- Grant will get a few things from us and whatever everyone esle buys him (which will probably be to much). We definatley don;t lack for toys around here.

Not too much new around here. Grant has been soo much fun lately he laughs and smiles a lot. He "flirts" too it is soo cute he will bat his eyes and give this sheepish little grin. He is almost out of 3-6 month clothes, he *almost* skipped them.

Sleep Traning - We haven't done anything, but Nora has STTN for a week (minus her shots day, and then she woke once). But, she's usually going down around midnight, of course, the last four or five days she's gone down a bit earlier (which we are hoping is a new trend!), but the earliest is 9:30. I'd like her to go down earlier, mainly b/c she's just fussy in the evenings and I'd rather her sleeping than hear her fussing. Plus, maybe I could eat earlier (there are a lot of days we don't eat until after she goes down, which when it's midnight is a bit late to be eating!). As for nap times, she doesn't really have any patterns. I try to put her down if she's been awake for two hours, but sometimes that doesn't work, other times, she isn't really awake for more than an hour at a time. We aren't going to really try anything until closer to 5-6 months, but hopefully, we'll have a routine down by then. :)

Hello all! I know it's been forever since I posted, but as you know - live with a new baby is busy! I still don't have much time to post, since I started back to work last week. But we're all doing well, Dylan is growing like a weed. He had his 2 mos WBV a couple of weeks ago. He was 10 lbs, 14 oz. and 22.5 inches long. The (kinda) bad news is that his doctor thinks he has asthma. She put him on a nebulizer taking Pulmicort and Albuterol :o(. She wants to catch it now, and try to nip it in the bud. Lets hope this does the trick.

Just wanted to post to say that those who have babies that go to sleep late, I have found with both of my kids that they will start going to sleep earlier on their own without you doing anything. Grant was going to sleep at 10:30/11 and is now going to sleep at 8ish to 9. Cocoa femme - adorable pictures! I was just going to post and see if anyone heard from you :)

The saline worked wonders last night! I swear I was suctioning poor Reagan's nose for like 10 minutes, but I was getting a lot of mucus so I kept going. I did it right before her bath so we cleaned her up good.

Even though she was breathing better, we still put her in her swing. I called the doctor yesterday and the nurse said that was fine as long as we moved her back once she started breathing better.

Last night was rough though. She didn't want her "dinner" bottle after her bath like she normally does. She maybe ate 2 ounces (normally takes 5-6) and started screaming. I took her to the nursery and just rocked with her. Eventually she fell asleep. We kept rocking from about 9:30-10:45 until I was sure she was asleep. She slept until 3 this morning so not too bad.

I honestly think she's starting to cut her teeth. Her gums look white in places and she sucks/drools all over the place. The only problem is that she's not coordinated enough yet to hold the teething ring. she just prefers to suck on her fist.

Oh, any my hair is starting to fall out. Just the normal "shedding" nothing more. I kind of liked not having that happen.

Update on sleeping - DD has had 2 great nights of sleep IN HER CRIB. Hoping it's not a fluke. Last night she slept in her crib - in her crib!! - from 9:30 - 3 and then from 4 - 7 and then we took a nap from 8:30 - 10. Lots of sleeping - yay! I'm so proud of my little girl.

Whichever one of you asked the QOTD having to do with when to swaddle the baby for bed - before or after feeding - really helped me out. THANK YOU! I think K&H said she did it before she fed and put DD down. I had never considered doing that because when she was just newborn I had to unswaddle her to wake her so she'd eat enough. DD still needs to be swaddled at night, because she likes to swing her arms around when we lay her in her crib and when she wakes up and that keeps her up. So I was feeding her, changing her, then swaddling her. I never thought to swaddle her before feeding her. So I read the post and a light bulb went off ... so I change her, swaddle her, then feed her .. then lay her in her crib. So far, so good. So thank you for the QOTD and for answering it the way I needed it to be answered. :)

QOTD - Should I be putting S down for her naps in the crib? I read somewhere not to start that for a while so as not to confuse the baby between night and day? But then I read the complete opposite today.

-------------------------------------
presents - We are only going to buy a few things. Not sure what yet, but just a couple of things. If my family asks what I'd like for S, I'm going to let them know we'd like them to contribute to her 529 plan. They all know we opened it so hopefully that's what they will offer to do. I'm sure DH's family will never contribute. They are more of a toy buying clan. I think my parents might make some contributions, just not sure if they will for Christmas. I'd like to buy a special gift, but not sure what.

STing - I had no idea what this was. What is "ferberizing"? I guess we are all trying to sleep train somewhat if we are trying to teach DCs to sleep in the crib at certain times. I'm still not letting her cry, though. I let her grunt and make noises, but as soon as I hear a real cry coming on I'm in her room.

Chimi - We just bought a vaporizer for S's nursery. Seems to help so far. They aren't very expensive. We purchased a middle of hte line Vick's and it was under $30. I also saw they had one for $10. I think you can get a vaporizer rather than a humidifier. Humidifiers are more money and are better for large areas (like several rooms) and I think they can do either hot or cold mist. I could be wrong though. I had to call my mom to see if a vaporizer would help clear S's breathing.

Cosmic- A book of babies firsts … like a baby album? Where you put things about family, etc along with firsts? I got this one at www.allaboutsavvy.com …. But you can also get it at www.aimeej.com. I didn’t want anything to babyish.

Thanks, tgoody, about the humidifier/vaporizer info. I'll look into that this weekend.

On Wednesday we had a scare. Long story short I was playing with R and bumped her head on the ceiling. Three and a half hours later at the Emergency Room we learned she's fine. They did take a CT scan which I learned she definitely does NOT like! I have a full description in my journal.

QOTD: We haven't been putting Reagan in her crib for naps just because her crib is upstairs and we are generally downstairs. Sometimes the movement wakes her up (sometimes not). We usually don't chance it and just put her in the PnP or swing for daytime naps.

QOTD We are putting DD in her crib for naps without issue. She sleeps in our room in her cosleeper at night, which has also gone well.

We're definitely not allowing her to CIO...I couldn't bear it. I try all the soothing methods, especially those from Happiest Baby. Most seem to work well, and within minutes, if not seconds, she lulls back to sleep for us.

Sleeping in the bassinet has been going pretty well. It definitely goes better if she has her last meal in a dimmed room. Otherwise she's more awake. A few minutes in the old trusty chair sometimes make her more tired. But we do find that if she goes in her bassinet awake, she knows if we are in the room are not and she cries if we leave. Her waking up time has ranged from 4-7 in the last week.

We attempted to get pictures taken at Target. Leave it to me to get the girl "in training" who has no knack with infants so there were no really good pictures. We are going back together (today it was just me) next weekend with a more experienced photographer.

Reagan finally seems to be getting over her cold. We still use the bulb syringe, but last night she slept in her crib without snorting herself awake. She slept from 10-3, 4-6 and 6:30-8. I was so happy with the 8; I know she was awake, but she was entertaining herself so I let her go and I was zoning out.

She's been so good today; she's already taken 2 naps (2 hours each) and is down again. I'm getting so much cleaning done! Next weekend is her baptism and I don't want to have the pressure of getting everything done on Saturday. I want to get a good cleaning this weekend and just minor stuff next weekend.

QOTD: Jake has been sleeping in his crib full-time at night since he was about 4 weeks old. In the past week I have succeeded in getting him to sleep in there for naps during the day. I don't think the nanny has been very diligent on keeping up with that but I'm going to ask her to really try harder once I go back to work.

Speaking of sleep...on Friday night Jake has his best stretch of sleep yet. He went to bed at 10:15 and slept until 4:15...when I woke him up! We did Race for the Cure on Saturday morning and I needed him to be on a certain eating schedule in order to make it through the race. Ordinarily I would have let him sleep and I wonder if he would have STTN had I not woken him. Last night he went to sleep at 11 and slept until 4:40...so he's getting better and better!

His eating situation is another story. His appetite hasn't been as great as it usually is lately. For instance, he'll only eat on one side and refuse the second side. I think it's normal, but will ask the dr tomorrow at his 2 month WBV....soooo nervous about shots!!!

Just a quick post today -- we start daycare tomorrow. I'm returning to work on Weds. so we're doing half day transitioning tomorrow and Tuesday. The daycare is lovely - really couldn't ask for anything better, but I know it will be an emotional day/week for me. Wondering how those of you who are in similar situations are doing and managing?

DH received a job offer in TX that could potentially get us back home near family where we could survive on one income, too... stay tuned. My heart is definitely with this little gal, M!

I am going back to work on the 30th- 1 more week. Either AF is going to arrive (seems to early since I am pumping and on the micropill) or it is because of my impending return to work that I have turned into a major B**** the last few days. I feel like every second is precious and I don't want to waste it. But also I have so much more I would have liked to have accomplished during my time away. But mainly the thought of only seeing E a few hours a day is killing me. And because of this I feel like ripping DH's head off with every word or action he makes.

I am going in to daycare on Tuesday to meet with them and find out what I need to bring, etc.Thursday DH and I are dropping her off for a couple hours. Wednesday I am getting my hair done. And Thursday afternoon I am going shopping for work.

The week I go back to work I am going to work 2 part-days at work, one full day, work 1 day from home, and take 1 "vacation" day. I didn't want to go back on a Monday but since E was born on a Monday I don't have a choice. But luckily they are being accomating about not making me work a 40 hour week the first week. Thanksgiving can't come fast enough.

It would be weird if AF did arrive because 10/24 was my LMP last year which was all over all my paperwork. And come 11/13 it will be a year since her conception. There will be a July 2007 Mommie's thread soon enough if there isn't already.

Jesseybell My cycle started back up yesterday -- I was shocked! It's super light, but I'm also bf'ing and am on a low hormone pill. Read something like 30% of women get their's at 3 mos pp, so I guess I'm in that lucky bunch. Do you seriously think you'll have "Irish twins?" Yikes!

I agree that thanksgiving can't come soon enough. Fortunately we had also planned to go away the second week in November, so I will really be able to "ease" back in a bit. And i'll be telecommuting one day/week. But like you said, it's the idea of only a few hours each day that kills me too. Gotta play the lottery more often, I guess.

Good luck next week! Will definitely be thinking of you!

For the ladies that are taking any kind of hormonal birth control, you probably will see your period return, I think b/c the hormones in the pill will start to regulate you.

And, who mentioned Irish twins - must be a brave, brave woman!

I'm so jealous of the August mommies who are getting sleep! I've put Kai in his PnP 4 times since midnight, but he won't stay asleep. I've fed, I've rocked, I've swaddled, I've walked, I've bounced. But, right now he's wide awake. So in all we've had about an hour of sleep so far. Hopefully this won't become a trend!

A great big batch of HUGS to all you ladies returning to work this week or soon. It is so hard at first! For me the anticpation of it was worse then actually doing it. In anycase HUGS!

David is good! He is sleeping well, for the most part. It is funny, but both my kids go to bed so early...starting from a very early age. David has been dead asleep by 7:30-8:00 since he was about 7 weeks. Dani did that too. I wonder if it was just how they are programed or if somehow I forced them to do it? I do love the early bed time, but I don't love the early wake-up time that comes with it. I guess I am the opposite of most of the August mommies....I am waiting for him to sleep-in rather than go down earlier. My alarm already goes off at 5:00 on weekdays.

Our big new of the weekend was that David starting laughing. I LOVE it!

cosmic ~ Take heart...Jake went through a phase like that too and now he sleeps great, even if he is wide awake when I put him down! And don't forget that Kai is one of the youngest (if not the youngest) August baby!

dandygirl ~ Good luck w/ the day care transition! Tomorrow I'm going into work for part of the day (8:30 to 3:30) even though I'm still on maternity leave until 11/8 and Jake will be with MIL...I'm nervous about that b/c it's the longest time he has spent in anyone else's care since he was born! :( Good luck w/ your DH's job opportunity!!

jennylou ~ When you say that Nora has worked her bedtime down and now goes to sleep earlier...how did that happen? Did she just seem more tired earlier in the night, prompting you to put her to sleep earlier?

***

Jake had his 2 month WBV this morning. He is a whopping 14 lbs 1 oz (80th percentile) and 23 1/4 inches long (50th percentile). His head circ is 38.7 cm (40th percentile). The ped said I must be producing "high test" breast milk :p
The shots were horrible. Jake screamed and turned every shade of red and purple in the rainbow. I cried while I was getting him dressed. He's now sleeping soundly in his carseat....poor baby!

dandygirl - I think it's best that you start the daycare transition before you go to work. I did that and I honestly think it was the best thing. I was so emotional there was no WAY I could work. I did pick her up earlier than I normally do, but it was a nice time to nap and get some cleaning done.

Jessie - I am with you on the snapping at DH. I feel horrible when I do, but I can't stop the words from coming out :( You're right, it probably is the going back to work thing. It will get easier, and I am sure your DH understands what you're going through.

Cosmic - I hope Kai gets some sleep for mommy's sake! Have you tried driving him in a car or taking him for a walk? Reagan screams when we put her in the carseat, but once we pick it up off the floor she's fine. So random...

ajlanden - Yay for laughing! Reagan has begun flirting which melts my heart every time. I can't wait for giggles!! :D

babylove - Shots stink, but they are so good for him. Just keep telling yourself that. And - he won't remember them so he can't blame you ;)

*******
Yesterday we went to a birthday party for a family friend of DH. It was a nice party. I, of course, didn't hold Reagan all day because ILs had her. Not a big deal, but MIL is *so* rough with her. She wasn't supporting her head at all. She just kept flipping her all over the place; I thought she was going to get motion sickness. I so wanted to say something, but R wasn't crying so I let it go. I mentioned it to DH so I'm hoping he'll say something to her.

Because we were around people, Reagan didn't take much of a nap during the day. Maybe a total of 3 hours from 8 a.m. until bedtime at 10 p.m. She slept until 3:30 so I consider that pretty good. I'm sure she'll be napping like crazy today at day care.

Oh no, we don't want Irish twins!! I was just thinking about what life was like a year ago. We are going to ttc #2 around her first birthday.
The doctor said I may or may not get my period because of the pill. It is weird that you just go from one pack to the next -none of the placebo pills. I almost forgot to pick them up on Saturday.

My cat just knocked over a bottle of breast milk. I am pissed! Another reason I think AF may be on her way is that my supply has dipped slightly the last couple of days. I am trying to pump more because right now I am only making what she's eating - no extra. Luckily I always have 1 extra bottle in the fridge in case of these "emergencies"/

We had our first call to urgent care last night. I was changing E and there was blood in her diaper. Not a ton, but I wanted to be better safe than sorry. It could be from a few reasons. I talked to her ped this morning and he doesn't need to see her unless it happens 2 more times. We had fun fishing in the diaper champ for the actual diaper because they'll want to see it.

Just my experience....I never got my period back after DS. I was on the mini-pill with him starting at 6 weeks and never saw it. I actually had to go on regular BCP, get my period, and come off that next month to get pregnant with DD. So you might not see it for a long time! :)

cosmic~ I feel for you. We usually have 1-2 nights a week like that. Is he congested or gassy or just awake? I started giving Michael Mylicon after each feeding and that has cut down on the restlessness a lot. Good luck!

babylove~ We had the shots on Thursday. Isn't is torture?!? What a growing boy! Momma's got the good stuff!

Jessie~ Hope everything is ok. I would have done the same thing. Hopefully it won't happen again.

Thursday was Michael's 2-month appt. M is now 12lbs. (50th percentile) and 24.25 inches long (90th percentile). He screamed and cried with the shots but the nurses were so good and fast with them. They have it down to a science! We have to wait until 5mos. or so before I can start reintroducing dairy or soy, so no pumpkin spice latte or gingerbread latte from Starbuck's for me this holiday season. Or mashed potatoes or chocolate pie or dressing... Hey, maybe I will lose weight over the holidays intead of gaining! ;)

I am also a wreck about going back to work next Monday. I cry everyday. I will be perfectly fine and then will be overcome with emotion at the snap of a finger. The tears come out of nowhere and I can't stop them. My mom will keep M, which is great, but I can't help but feel jealous of her and how much time she will get to spend with him. Isn't that horrible?!?

Chimichanga

Kathy - absolutely NOT horrible!! I am jealous of DH getting to spend so much time with R. Now he'll be changing jobs and we'll have to do daycare more. Or, my OSIL offered to watch her - I'm jealous of that offer! She'll get to spend more time with my baby than I will. :(

Have you mentioned your feelings to your mom? I'm guessing you two are close? I'm sure she's been there too (after all, she is a mom ;) ) with her feelings and I'm sure she'll understand and will make any accomodations she can.

Jen~ Although we are very close, I haven't actually verbalized my feelings of jealousy. She definitely knows how sad I am about going back to work. She and my dad married young and were still in college when I was born, so she completely understands having to go back to work. She is going to continue M's nap schedule of 10-12 and 2-4, so that when I get there at 4ish, he will be waking up and ready to eat. With his napping out of the way, we should be able to spend the evenings as a family and I plan to continue his 9:00 bedtime so that we have a good chunk of time with him. I'm sorry you are in the same boat, but it is nice to know I am not alone in my feelings.

Yep, no question that AF is here :( Seeing that I only stopped bleeding 4 weeks ago, it sucks. Still very weird that it is a year to the day of my last one. I joked with DH that even though I didn't have a vaginal birth, I feel like the tampon is going to fall out.
Sucks also because DH is taking Thursday off and we're dropping E off at daycare for a few hours. Would have been perfect to DTD :( (he also has a cold, so I guess it isn't good timing all around)

Off to daycare for orientation in the morning :(

I started back to work yesterday. I was surprised how much easier it was to handle with #2 than #1. With DS#1 I called like every hour. This time I only called at lunch and when my mom picked them up. Both the boys did great. Caden was so proud of his little brother and kept telling all the kids that was his baby. Cohen did great too! He loved all the action. Mommy would like it better if Cohen slept all night, but that will come. Last night he slept his longest strecth yet from 730 to 3!! I had to wake him at 7 to eat before we had to leave. Sorry no time for SO's need to get back to work.

Anyhoo just had a quick question for babylove and anyone who has considered Mirena (IUD)… I read some information about it and it seems to be our best option for bc, but I am curious to know what was about the hormones that made you decide against it… I have read that they are released in the uterus and should not affect milk, any info would be appreciate it… thinking on having it done next Tuesday

I don't think today is a good day for Reagan. Yesterday wasn't either.

Last night Reagan decided to cry for 2 hours straight. We did get her down at her normal bedtime and she slept for her normal time. She went back down after getting up to eat so we're doing well there. But now she's screaming and has been for an hour. She just ate less than 90 minutes ago and she's dry. I might try feeding her, but I can't imagine she's hungry - she had a 5 ounce bottle.

We might be going through another growth spurt.

And, I'm trying to work from home today; not too conducive having a baby screaming behind me.

Carmen ~ I decided against Mirena b/c of the hormones. Even though I was assured by my dr that they wouldn't harm my milk supply, I'm just really wary of hormonal birth control b/c of the difficulty I had getting pregnant. I was on the pill for 10 years and I really think it had something to do w/ my IF issues. But if I were finished having kids, I would have chosen the Mirena IUD for sure. Hope that helps!
