I just found out that we will be adding lovenix to my IVF cycle and I am not sure what to expect. I heard bad bruising...anything else? Are there any good ways to reduce the bruising?
Thanks!
Do a search in the family sections on heparin or lovenox; you'll find several past threads on it.
But in a nutshell, not sure there's much you can do to reduce the bruising. some say that if you ice the injection site before and after doing the shot, that'll help with keeping bruising down, but I dunno, that never really worked too well for me. I mean, it's a blood thinner...bruising kinda indicates it's doing its job, right?

For me, the shots hurt. Felt like it was a thick liquid going in or as I once called it 'cement'. Towards the end I did ice before the shot but really icing AFTER the shot felt the best for me. Some women say it doesn't even bother them though. Maybe you'll be one of them. Not much you can do about the bruising. I do remember needing to be extremely careful not to injure myself badly, like falling or cutting myself. Once I had a hard time controlling a little nic from the razor.
Good luck with your IVF!

I can't edit for some reason, but I remembered that I had some dietary restrictions as well. I was suppose to avoid things like romain, arugula, asparagus and grapefruits. The green veggies I think were because of the Vitamin K and Vit K has clotting properties? The grapefruit I think does the opposite and thins your blood more. I hope your doc gives you more info on this. I still have all my handouts but I won't be home till Sunday PM.

Phen - Thank you, I did a search and found a lot of good information.
Bucktown - Thanks. I have heard people say its like injecting acid. Yikes! Interesting about the food restrictions, I will have to ask. I will be on a low dose, I think 30 mg a day, so I am not sure. But I love asparagus and eat it regulary so I will have to check.
I should ask my DR too....but I am prone to nosebleeds, especially with the weather lately, I wonder if that will be a problem.
