Things here are crazy, but fun. DH and I are still doing the ships passing in the night thing - he watches the girls while I work during the day, and then leaves for work when I get home. We both love that we are home with them, but man, it gets tiring!! The girls are a riot right now, for better or worse. Our two favorites habits right now are climbing and screaming. I think I will have to invest in either a large bottle of Advil, or a large bottle of Stoli ;) Hope everyone else is doing well!!

Evan is 18 months old today! I can't believe he's getting so big and isn't my tiny baby anymore. I have a friend who celebrates her children's half-birthdays by making half of a cake - I'm thinking of doing something fun like that today!
Only 3 weeks until we close escrow! That will be a happy day... We have the home inspection on Saturday. Fingers crossed it goes well. Amy any luck on your end with selling?
I thought in the interest of our new thread I'd ask a QOTD. Is your child showing any interest in the potty? I ask because Evan is very interested in watching us and even tries to wipe me when he sees me sitting there! I'm thinking of buying a potty seat just to begin to introduce it to him. I don't want to push him until he's ready though.

Glad to see everyone checking in. I'm updating the stats as I see them.
Katie- Happy 18 months to Evan today! Fingers crossed for your home inspection, once that is done it should be smooth sailing. Good you could get a quick closing too. I can't wait to be signing those papers myself! I think the half a cake is such a cute idea! I had thought of doing something for Connor's half b-day, but it coincided with the 1 year anniversary of my MIL passing, so it was almost a somber day, you know?
Anyways.. I haven't brought in a potty yet. Maybe when we get settled in our new place. LIke you said, more to just introduce them to it and to let him test it out if he wants to.
Sara-I say go with the Stoli. ;)

QOTD. Is your child showing any interest in the potty? I noticed that Andy will pull at his diaper when he need to go. I have been thinking about getting him a potty, but haven't yet.

Oh, I just remember a question I had.
Has anyone noticed recently a change in their DC's sleep habits? I just recently read that seperation anxiety peaks at 18 months, so I'm guessing it's all related.. but anyways. My son has always been a good napper/nighttime sleeper. Usually we put him down at night and he would go down without a peep, sometimes a little whimpering, but nothing crazy. This past week he has been SHREIKING when I put him down. I hate hate hate hearing him like that, but it's his normal bedtime, no change in routine really.. so I'm just hoping it's a stage? Last night he only cried for about 4 minutes (goodness knows I was watching that clock!), but it was all out crying. Breaks my heart to hear him like that. He also has his molars coming in, so I'm wondering if it could be the teething as well.
Anyone have any advice?
cgmom313

Katie - Thanks for asking.. Umm still no luck on our end. We just keep thinking it is going to happen one day. Crossing fingers for you on the home inspection. Happy 1 1/2 birthday to Evan!!!
Potty - No real interest, that I see. She does come to the bathroom while I am in there. (Now that I think about it, when is the last time I peed in private!!) :p Anyway, she just stands there and looks at me. She loves to play with the roll of toliet paper. I havent even bought a potty yet. Maybe I will keep my eye out for one on sale and pick it up. I would like to wait till at least we move since I dont want to be doing that in the middle of our move. My sisters friend had her twins both potty trained by 22 months. I give that woman alot of credit. Not really looking forward to it.
Sleep - Lisa, as you know my DD is not that best sleep habit person so I probably am the wrong person to ask. However when she is teething we do have a harder time putting her down at night and waking up in the middle of the night. Lately she has been better, but last week was a nightmare and I saw another molar popping in, plus she has a cold. So I hope for you Connor is just teething and will fall back into his old routine.
I hope everyone has a good weekend!
Take Care!

QOTD: Aidan has not shown interest in the potty per say, but he is showing some early signs of readiness. For the last couple of weeks, right after he poops, he comes over to me and says, "poop." And, a couple of times now, he has said, "poop", I check and he has nothing--but, shortly after he does poop. So, I think he is telling me when he is going to poop.
He's only 16.5 months, so I think it is still pretty early....too early almost. I plan on getting a potty for him when he is about 18 months.
He will go in the bathroom when I am in there and I tell him what I am doing. If he hears me pee, he says, "Water."
I am so unprepared for this aspect of parenting....

QOTD:
I am so unprepared for this aspect of parenting....
I so totally agree with the above Majorgal. I am so unprepared, I pulled out a few parenting magazines that I had that had potty training articles to start preparing myself. Right now she really doesnt show any interest, so I guess it gives me time to read up and get ready.
Hope everyone had a good weekend! Ours was nice. Saturday, I met a friend at a local arts festival and me and DD walked around. It was fun they had a kids corner and she really enjoyed herself. We then went to lunch with my friend (who does not have kids!) and she thought it was funny how many things I took out of my bag to entertain DD. She called it a regular show!! lol!! Then Sat my IL's came up to have pizza with us and spend time with DD. Sunday we actually made it to church and then just came home and vegged. DD took a 2 1/2 hour nap so that was very nice. So it is Monday all over again.
No house news... a few lookers but nothing else. Again, not as stressed out with our change of plans, but it would be very nice to sell and be up north before the holidays. Our plan is if we dont sell by beginning of Nov, we will probably take it off the market until after the 1st of the year. We just want to enjoy the holidays. In the long run it probably would be best to move up there in the spring instead of winter, but it would be nice to be near my family for all the holidays. Well in time I guess!!!
Sorry to be long winded... Have a Great Week!
Amy
Katie

Lisa How is Connor's sleeping? We just went through a major naptime readjustment last week - his choice, not mine. He went two days without any nap (those were fun days... ). I tried putting him down later as he was still napping late in the morning. Now I'm putting him down about 12 p.m. or so and it seems to be working.
E also does the shrieking thing when he doesn't want to sleep. What's interesting is that we used to be able to CIO with him when he did that - usually after 5 or 10 mins and he would be out. But CIO doesn't work anymore. I was never fond of using that method but it worked well for him. So this doesn't really give you any advice, just sympathizing with you as we are going through changes too.
Amy It looks like you at least have a plan as far as your house goes, that must feel better rather than having it go on and on. When are you planning on moving?
We had the home inspection this weekend and all was clear except for a few minor things that we shouldn't have to worry about. Yea! Now we just have to sit and wait until the end of the month. It is taking forever! We just booked a MUCH NEEDED overnight stay at our favorite B&B just in time for our anniversary next month. I'm so excited to get a night away!

Hi gals! We're here too! Paige will be 18 months on Saturday
She is a little chatterbox and says everything. Here newest line is "Goog girl Macy" (which is our dog) :) It's soooo cute!
Where has the time gone!! Our babies are toddlers now! Slow these kids down! LOL.
QOTD - Paige actually went poop and pee in the potty (potty seat/ring for toddlers on top of the toilet) about a month ago (8/17). Basically it was totally spur of the moment. She was making "the face" and I asked her if she wanted to go poo poo on the potty and she said "uh huh". I put her on, she sat and smiled for a second like "this is cool" LOL, and then a few seconds later, she made the face again and I heard a plop and a tinkle :) I nearly crapped MYSELF LOL.
BUT, that was the one and only time. Of course I haven't really tried again though. I work part time, so since she's back and forth between me, FIL and my sister each week, it's almost pointless to try right now since I can't count on them (mainly my sister) to help continue with the potty training. Soon I will be a full time SAHM, so once that happens I will try, but for now, I don't want to confuse the poor kid LOL.
Acck...lunchtime. BBL :)

Morning all...
So glad to see everyone checking in!
Sleeping- He's still fighting it. As soon as we say, "Okay Connor, time to get ready for bed... or Time to go Night Night".. he'll start running away from me, he literally ran in the kitchen yesterday and stuck himself in a corner, I guess thinking I couldn't see him.;) Or he flops down in his chair with this pout on his face and gives a little whine. He def. has the "make mommy feel bad" puppy dog look down! But yeah, so for his nap and bedtime when we put him down he stands straight up and cries, but literally for 2 minutes max and then he is out cold. I still hate that he cries, but since it is so short.. I'm thinking it's just the whole not wanting to leave the "action", you know- and not that he is not tired. Connor is a kid though that I always say if you didn't physically put him to bed, he would probably just stay up for 24 hours as he never ACTS tired, he's like the energizer bunny.. he just keeps going and going and going.. I'm always envious of kids I see putting their heads on their mother's shoulder and resting or laying on a couch to rest. lol.
ANYWAYS. Thinking of Koalagirl and hoping she'll check in and give us the news of her new baby!
Katie- So glad the inspection went well. Enjoy your much deserved get away!
We are at the Cape for the rest of the week. My DH finally has his first week long vacation this year! It's nice coming here since we have my parents, so we can do family things during the day and then get out on some much needed date nights in the evening!
Have a great week.

Katie - At this point we wont move until we sell the house. Ahhh... a night away that sounds great. You guys deserve it with all the stress you have had!!!
Brady - Sorry you are still fighting Connor's sleep issues. I noticed lately that patterns with us (sleeping issues, eating issues, whatever) usually last about 2 weeks. Enjoy the Cape and the date nights that sounds heavenly.
Well.. I am sleepy should go to bed. I just enjoy this time alot since DD and DH are in bed. I call 10-11p "me time". And damn it even if I am tired I am going to stay up and do what I want. :p

I was more of a lurker in the old thread, but hopefully I'll be able to be more active over here. I'm a full time WOHM, and my DH stays home full time. So far, it has been working out quite well for us. Altho, now that I am pg with baby #2, I reallllllllyyyyyy am not wanting to work ft after this baby (definitely pt, but the ft thing with a newborn really makes me depressed). We'll see what happens I guess, I'm also happy that one of us is able to be home with Macy, so I guess we just have to really look at what can be done with our situation.

Oops! I forgot to post in this thread!!!
Its a BOY! We are home from the hospital, and just trying to adjust to having 2 babies. So far, K has been a great big sister. A few tantrums for attention, but after ignoring her, she seems to come around.
So, Derek Irving Paul was born 9/5 at 10:24am at 8lb 8oz and 20" (big boy, considering he was a bit early!) He has been sleeping for the most part, but the past day or so, he is actually staring to have some awake time.
The past 2 nights have actually been quite decent with sleep (and I got a 2 1/2 hour nap this afternoon...hmmm...both kiddo's napped at the same time, and 2 1/2 hours is actually unheard of for K...she usually naps around 1 - 1 1/2 hours.) Yippe! I feel super rested (scary, eh?)

Koala Gurl Congratulations on your son! I'm glad to hear that everyone seems to be adjusting well and that you actually feel rested. You'll have to keep us updated on Derek and what it's like to have two!

All this talk of ROs makes me wonder (and therefor pose a QOTD - are any of you planning any more children?
While I won't ever say never, I think it's pretty safe to say that we will not have any other children besides the girls. We always said we were going to have two, we just happened to do it all at once ;)

Koala Congrats on your DS!!!! That's exciting news. Please do keep us updated on life with 2.
Sunni Congrats on expecting #2.
QOTD At this point we are planning to have 3 kids, but that's subject to change. If I don't get into grad school this year(will find out in the spring), we plan to TTC in May/ June. However, I do keep pushing it back. I just don't feel "ready" yet. I can't believe DS is 18 months. It seems like just yesterday I was pg and hold my newborn.

Sunni - Congrats to you on baby #2
QOTD - My DH and I are going to Maui the first week of December and we plan to start TTC baby #2 after that. I have to admit I don't know if I am ready for another baby but I don't want my kids to be to more than 3 years apart.

Koala Gurl - A very big Congrats on DS. Those pics are oh so cute!!! Thanks so much for sharing. Hope you and your family are adjusting to life with 2 kids.
Sunni - Congrats on #2
QOTD: We really want to have 2 kids, and because of my age, I really have no time to waste. However with our current situation of relocation we really would like to wait until that is done. We always talked about Jan 07 to start so I think no matter where we are at FL or OH we will start. I probably will need a little help with my Clomid Friend to get PG anyway. We havent used anything to protect since DD was born and no surprises. I really have screwy cycles and dont really ovaluate. However there are times where I think how the heck can I handle 2 kids, and then Koala Gurl goes and posted those sweet pics and I am just like Tenny. Going to go look for hubby! ;)
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

QOTD: I thought I'd answer even though I'm already a RO. We're done! haha! Considering DH originally only wanted 1, 3 will really be a handful for us. He desperately wanted a boy and since that's what we're having I think we're ready to stop. It's our perfect little family. :)

Koala He's beautiful!!! Thank you so much for sharing those photos. And can I say how impressed I am that you already have professional portraits done!
QOTD I am definitely planning on one more child. As I've mentioned here before DH needs a little convincing, but I do think he's on board. I am thinking about 3 years apart. So maybe trying about a year from now? I like the idea of Evan being a little older (a little more self-sufficient) and how 3 years still isn't too far apart in age.
Guess what? We are closing early on our house! Next Friday, as in 6 days from now!!! Yipee!
Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

QOTD: We definitely know we want another, and I think we are leaving the option over for three kids. We will see...
We would like Aidan to be about three when #2 is born. We hope Aidan will be out of diapers, coming out of the terrible twos and able to comprehend a bit more what is happening. We were fortunate enough to conceive the first month we tried, so we think we will not have a terrible time conceiving #2 (watch me eat my words). So, we will likely start trying in late spring/early summer next year. It feels like it is so far away...and so close at the same time!

Koala What gorgeous pics. Your DS is so adorable. I'm also amazed you were already able to do them.:)
Looks like a few of us are hoping for 2.5 / 3ish year spacings. Hopefully we can be pg together again.:)
We attempted to take Ryan to see Cars tonight. It actually went better than we thought. He was able to stay in the theatre for the first 30 minutes or so. Then he was pretty good about riding around in his stroller while DH and I took turns watching the movie and entertaining him outside. We only had to leave about 15 minutes before the show ended. I think we'll probably wait until he is 2 to take him again, but there is always the drive-in.

Hi Everyone.. we got back from a week vacation on the Cape on Sunday, and trying to just get used to non-vacation mode again. ;)
Congrats Koala!! Derek is just beautiful!
QOTD- I'm also in the 3 year spacing camp. Right now we are just working on getting settled in our new home (less than 2 weeks!), maybe we'll start talking about it more when Connor is 2. But right now.. no thanks! :o I will say though yesterday at the park I saw these two little boys that you could tell were brothers, and they looked so close in age, but could tell they were not twins. I started talking to their father and he said they were 11 months apart. Watching them play together and him telling me they were the best of buds made me have a little twinge of wanting Connor to have a sibling close in age, but since he's already 18 months and we are no where close, I do envy those of you that have already got started!
---
Speaking of 18 months. Connor had his 18 month well baby visit yesterday. Finally a visit with no shots!! Hooray. He was 33 1/4 inches and 25.3lbs. I think he's finally settling in to what will probably be his body type- tall and thin!
Good Luck with your closing, Katie!

QOTD~ We have only ever wanted two children. Now that I am nearly 30 weeks along with our 2nd, we are very much done. Our kids will be 20 months apart. My sister and I are just a week farther apart and are/were super close friends. I am super thankful to have had that relationship and hope my kids do, too.

So yeah, I stink at updating and participating lately. I quit my day job in May to stay home and now that I'm not tied to my computer 8 hours a day, I find it very difficult to keep up. I've missed all of you and have subscribed here so maybe I can stay up to date this time.
I hear Snapfish no longer works here so I can't post photos but if you're on LJ and let me know, I'll friend you ... I post pics there often.
Gracie is Little Miss Chatterbox. You can pretty much say "Gracie, say 'whatever' and she'll repeat it back to you in some form. I'm amazed by how well she listens to me and actually understands and follows directions, such a complete turnaround from her big sister. She adores books and can't get enough. Her new game is climbing up on the couch, covering herself up with a "banket" and flipping through book after book. At 18 months she weighs 27 lbs and is 33 1/2 inches tall. She's in size 24 month clothing for the most part, some 2T's.
And yes, her hair is still flamin red. :)
QOTD: Someone convince my husband its time for the surgery... I'm SO done! Not that I wouldn't take another if God sent one this way but if I have it my way, we'll stop at two.
Koala_gurl... he's PRECIOUS!!!!!! Beautiful pics!!!!

Katz Glad to see you back here.
Ryan has his WBV yesterday, too. He's remaining constant in all the perecentiles. 10-25% for head, 25% for weight, 50% for height. We had an interesting visit. He was in the beginning stages of a tantrum when the ped walked in. He waited to make sure our ped was looking at him and then started headbutting. After that, he tried to hit me about 10 times all while making sure the ped was looking at him each time. Ped, DH and I were all trying really hard to keep from laughing.

neen - I can not believe you are 30 weeks already.. Time Flies!!! Everyone I know with 2 kids says the 2nd pg goes so much quicker than the first!!
Betz - Welcome Back!! Good to hear from you!!! Congrats on becoming a SAHM. Good Luck convincing your husband. Men are a bunch of wimps. We carry their children 9 mths and go through labor and wont get a little snip snip!!! :p
A volunteered this morning at my DD daycare because it was picture day. Since I didnt have a meeting until 10a I could do it. That is why am so blessed with my job. I can be somewhat flexible as long as I get my job done. Anyway, those Day Care teachers deserve so much gratitude. I mean I was wore out and I was only there an hour. A total of 11 kids ages 1-2yr in a room, OH MY!!! I had fun, but I could not do that as my career. It takes a special person to do it. My DD did get a little jealous of Mommy playing with other kids. She didnt like that one bit. It was kinda of funny. Poor little thing just wanted her Mama to herself.
Anyway ... Happy Hump Day!!!

Pookie DS has gotten into the tantrum stage too. It drives me NUTS!!!
katzmeow671 Welcome back!
neenbean 30 weeks!!! WOW!!!
QOTD Well DH and I would like the next one to be within 2-2.5 years apart. Somedays I wish we would have TTC sooner and had 2 under 2 other days I think I want to wait forever to have another. But since I'm in the TWW right now, there is no turning back! If it works this month they will be 26 months apart!

Koala Beautiful pictures!
Old QOTD but I thought I would answer anyway;) Our kids will end up almost exactly 24 months apart based on my due date. We really like how the spacing ended up. This may be it for us...or it may not be. We aren't sure. We'll see how this transition goes I guess! I think we could be persuaded into 3 more easily if baby #2 is a girl.

I hear you, Amy! I have been helping a friend by watching her son (14 months) while she goes to PT appointments. I only have TWO toddlers to watch, but it is a LOT of work. Scares me so much about have 2 under 2, but I also know DC#2 is not going to be mobile for at least 6 months, right?
Tenny~ Fingers crossed for a BFP for you! TTC DC#2 was a lot harder for us- I hope you have far better luck! :)
Sunni~ Congrats on your BFP! 2 years is a great age difference. :D
DD's one year WBV is tomorrow. This is the first doctor's visit I will ever miss. :( I am headed out of town for my first weeked away (or overnight for that matter!). It is a Spa & Scrapbooking weekend with some girlfriends. I am excited. DH is going to be with DD for 3 days straight, without me. I figured I better take advantage of the time now before DC#2 arrives. :)

Hope this is the month for you Tenny!

Beautiful day today, cool but sunny here. We went to the park this AM and then over to storytime. I made the "mistake" of teaching Connor the 5 Little Monkeys song, so that when "he fell off and bumped his head..", we say together "OWW!". So, now whenever we are at storytime or a gym class and they sing it he's the only kid yelling "OWW!" when the monkey bumps his head. lol.
We are heading over to our new house tonight to meet the sellers (their idea), so they can show us around the house and give us all the ins and outs of it. Very generous offer, and compared to when we bought our condo and had the seller and closing from he-l-l, this is a welcome change. We close next Friday and everything with the sale has gone so smoothy, now I just can't wait to get out of my parents house! Connor took a spill down about 7 stairs yesterday onto the concrete landing. I swear I think my heart stopped when I saw it happen (I was about 2 steps ahead of him). Thank god he was fine, he cried right away and there was blood. So, nothing broken and no concussion which of course were my two biggest fears! Ay yi yi. I will be so happy to be living in a ranch again where the one set of stairs to the family room is carpeted!

Brady I'm so glad Connor is okay with his fall. Andy fell down about 5 steps on Saturday at my sister's house. It just broke my heart! Andy know the 5 little money song too. I haven't taught him to say Owww that is too cute. Andy touches his head and then shakes his finger at you for the "No more monkey jumping on the bed" part. So glad the house sale is going so smooth!!

Betz Good to see you here!
Neen You are getting close!! I'm jealous of your whole weekend away. Have a great time.
Pookie I love the story about the tantrum at the Dr.'s. We are in major tantrum mode these days. Sometimes makes me wonder why I would choose to have a second one!
Tenny Good luck in your 2WW!
Lisa Glad to hear that the closing is going smoothly for you. That must have been upsetting when Connor fell. :( Evan did that on our stairs when he was 9 months old and I just felt awful.
We close on our house tomorrow! It is such a huge relief and we are definitely celebrating this weekend! I can't believe this whole ordeal lasted this long - 6 months!
There is a major tantrum going on in the next room. "No! No! No!" over and over. I took him off the dining room table and he's screaming bloody murder. I'm chosing to ignore it.

Katie - WHOO HOO!!! On the Closing... You guys need to live it up this weekend!!!
Not much going on with me. Working this morning, then I am going to pick up DD around 2pm or so from Day care and then we are meeting some friends at a playground. Other than that no real plans. However, I love weekends with no real plans.

Happy Friday to all the Mommies :D
I have had an incredibly rough week with my DS. :(
Monday morning my Mom called to tell me that my son was standing on the couch and he fell and hit his face on the corner of her fish tank. He had a pretty bad cut and it bled a lot. We took him to the doctor and they were able to glue the cut rather than put stitches in it.
Today I found out from the dentist that they are going to have to pull my son's front tooth. A few months back he had fallen and he chipped his front tooth. Since he had a trauma to his tooth I knew it was a possibility that the tooth might die but it was looking good for 2 months so I had thought it was going to be ok. They are doing the procedure next Thursday. The worst part is that they are going to have to restrain him and give him a shot to numb the tooth. I can't stand the idea of them doing that to my little guy.
I know a lot of worse things could happen to my son but I can't help feeling upset about this. Sorry to be such a downer.

lcarlson I'm so sorry to hear that! :( You did have a rough week. I hope that it goes OK next week at the dentist. Good luck.
I know that Evan has had his share of spills lately (jumping on the couch included!). We have been lucky and have just had scrapes and bloody lips. Still, to see your child hurt is the worst.
E is really into climbing. We have an end table that he has learned to scale. It's right next to our front living room window and I caught E standing on the windowsill this week! This child will give me a heart attack some day...
We FINALLY closed on our house on Monday (it was supposed to be last Friday). Hurray! So that chapter in our lives is over and we can pay off all of our debt - student loans, credit cards. I can't wait to be debt free!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hello!
Megan is now 17.5 months. She is very much in temper tantrum stage. If she can't have it, look out! Crying, screeching, motioning, grabbing etc. She loves being outside and loves her little hotwheels beetle. She goes for her 18month appt in approx 3 weeks.
Anyone else's baby not talking much? Megan is extremely physical, but not so much verbal. She says approx 15 words, but does a bit of sign language. Newest word is "cheese!" She kind of worries me, because Tyler was speaking two words sentences at this time.

T&M'smommy Don't worry about the language - she'll amaze you with what she'll pick up over the next few weeks. My son's language has sort of exlpoded over the last month. He is repeating a lot and picking up new words everyday.
His new thing is playing football with daddy. Daddy calls "hut" and DS will dive tackle him. He can catch the ball which I was pretty amazed about. He can throw it pretty darn hard too. Kid's got an arm.
He is very much into the "tantrum" stage. Usually, I'll just ask him if he wants time out and calms down. Pretty funny b/c he has only ever actually been in time out like 3 times his whole life.
We seem to be in the second phase of seperation anxiety - though I think we are towards the end of the phase.
Brady

T+M's- We are def. still on words here, no two word sentences and my son is almost 19 months. He is super active, understands most everything and does a million sounds, so he's "verbal", just not really talking too much, maybe 15-20 words like Meaghan and some signs. His Ped. said as long as he understands everything, they don't really "worry" until 2 years.
Connor's new thing is doing the Hokie Pokie. It's too stinking cute! :D
---
Anyways.. we closed on our new house on Friday! Hooray. We spent all of Friday ripping up carpets and staples and yesterday and today painting. We'll get the floors refinished next week and hopefully be in there by mid-October. We met a couple of kids right about C's age, and I saw a lot of families in the neighborhood yesterday, so I'm excited to meet everything and for Connor to have some new friends. The mothers that I met yesterday also stay home, so that's good! ;)

I am so jealous! Most days, DD needs 3 "time outs". She completely understands that misbehavior gets her put in the corner, but does it even after a warning.
language~ DD has been saying "what's that?" for a long time, and more recently started with "it fell down" and "all done" and a few more that escape me right now. She is 18 months but has been verbal since before her words were understandable- kinda like mom. ;) My local friends with kids the same age have huge differences in their skills and no Ped. is concerned yet- HTH.
We are more concerned with DD's behavior than language right now. :o  She is constantly testing us- at every moment and it is really getting on this pregnant mama's nerves. :(

lcarlson Sorry to hear about the fall. Hope your DS did alright at the dentist.
language Not sure exactly how many words Ryan has. Sometimes he'll say a word and then it will be weeks before he says it again. A couple of weeks ago he looked at DH and said, "I wuv u." It was too cute.
Ryan started at MDO program last week. It was so nice to have a few hours to run errands and so nice to get so much done. He screamed when I left, but then didn't want to leave when I picked him up. Same thing happened today in the church nursery.

neenbean Is "all done" considered a sentence? DS has been saying that forever! Also his new one is "OH no!" instead of "uh oh" and he loves to tell things "no!no!" - for instance the door stoppers, he loves to play with them. He has pulled a couple out of the wall so now he walks by them and shakes his finger at them and tells the doorstoppers "NO!NO!"
Katie

language We just saw an explosion of verbal skills this past month. He says about 45 words. I write down all his words on a calendar and he almost doubled his words since the end of August. He picked up two words just yesterday. That said, he only had about 5-7 words at 16 months (18 months now), so it really does seem to happen overnight. No 2 word sentences except for "bad cat!" (can you tell we have a troublemaker for a cat? ;))
tantrums Oh, the tantrums! Daily (often many times a day). Our newest thing is throwing - as in throwing a block at mama or the TV. He gets timeouts for that one. Last week in his fit of rage he took the food in his mouth and threw it at me. Charming... I try to ignore most of it except for the hitting or throwing directly at me.
Pookie How sweet that Ryan said that! I can't wait for the day when E can say that.
Nina Aren't you getting closer? I can't imagine being pregnant with a tantruming toddler. Kudos to you!
Lisa Yea! on closing your house. You must be so excited and that's great that there are kids Connor's age in your neighborhood. That will be so much fun.

Hello Everyone -
lcarlson 90 - I tell you when it rains it pours doesnt it. Hope your little guy is feeling better.
Katie - Yippe on the house!!! I as so excited for you. Now you can pass the dust my way on the house selling!!! ;)
Lisa - Another Yippe on the house!!! So exciting.. I bet you can not wait to get in and settled. That is nice that it looks like there are alot of families in the neighborhood.
Neen - Ahhh behavior... glad I am not the only one. I agree Kudos to you, I think I would have lost my mind if I was PG and taking care of DD.
Language - Like Katie said, my DD has exploded the last few weeks. I havent kept count but she is probably right at 30-40 words. No real sentences either. I think she is getting alot of the words from Day Care. She is also really starting to repeat herself. So I told DH that we need to watch our mouths. We are not huge potty mouths but we do let a Xhit or damx split every now or then. I was starting to worry about her words too a few weeks ago and then bam she is all over the place.
Tantrums - OH my gosh we have them. She gets so whiny. She gets so ticked off if we do not let her go outside. She just crys and crys and starts beating on the door. We just let her go and do the tantrum and ignore her. It usually stops in 5 mins or so, but so not fun!!!
So we have been so busy. We have a new real estate agent. Our contract with the other one was up the end of the month and we thought it was time for a change and mix things up a bit. Our old real estate agent I think was living in the day where you did not have to do much to sell a house. There was some things I think she could have done better. So I really like the new real estate agent she gaves us some good things to do to our house. They also have virtual tours so they are coming wed to take pics. I have a good feeling so keeping fingers crossed.
On another note, we got a call from my DH ex-wife and there is drama going on with their 15 year old daughter. She is really just being a teenager, but his ex said she wants her to live with us, etc, etc... I could go on forwever. Anyway, I feel bad for DH because he lives so far away from his daughter and is hard to get what is really going on. So we have been dealing with that. See what we have to look forward to in 14 years not toddler tantrums, but teenager tantrums!!!!
Sorry to write a book.. I hope everyone has a good week!!
Take Care!

However, while on the phone with my mom this AM, she did respond "she said that" which was shocking, but not the norm for her.
Nina Aren't you getting closer? I can't imagine being pregnant with a tantruming toddler. Kudos to you!
No congrats are necessary. You would be doing the same if you were crazy enough to have your kids this close together. :p I have 7 weeks left from today until my repeat c/s. We had a bad scare on Friday, but all is fine now.
Neen - Ahhh behavior... glad I am not the only one. I agree Kudos to you, I think I would have lost my mind if I was PG and taking care of DD.
Thanks. Some days I do feel like I am losing my mind and then others I am happy as a clam. Hormones and DD's behavior definitely affect my feelings for every day. I am just happy to get this stage over with and hopefully have no more diapers in less than 3 years from DC#2's birth. :)

We are having the same issue! The other night, I started to say "$hit" when DD dropped something and stopped myself at ""Shiiiiiii" and she immediately parroted my exact wording! It totally reminded me about my own foul language and keeping in check when around her. Yikes!

Hi everyone! Just wanted to pop in and say that we had our little guy, Tyler, on 9/26! We're completely in love (again)! Ilanna is doing really well with him too. The first day was a struggle and she was frusturated with the whole ordeal but now she kisses his head and points out every body part! She does have a few more meltdowns now that he's here though.
Language - Ilanna's vocab. has exploded too! Just yesterday she said, "Hi man on the motorcycle"!!!!! I couldn't believe she put that many words together! I'll catch a sentence here and there though most of what she says (and she talks cooonnnnstantly) still sounds like a foreign language of her own.

Congratulations, kenswife!
I am a very infrequent poster here....but thought I would pop in. Aidan is probably the oldest kid in this thread--he was born on April 29, so he just turned 17 months.
Language: I was keeping track, but, honestly, the words are coming so fast, I can't keep up. I think he is up to about 75 now. Our first sentence was a week and a half ago. This is almost embarrasing--I was putting him on the change table, and as I did, I asked, "Who has a boogie in his nose?" Without skipping a beat, he responded, "I have one." Then, when I asked him "Who has a poop in his diaper?" he responded, "I do." I was shocked! On Friday, he also learned to say, "I love you Mommy/Daddy." Now, when I drop him off at daycare, when I tell him I am going to go to work, he puckers his lips, kisses me and says, "I love Mommy." Melts my heart!
Aidan also knows about half of the ABCs. He can get from A to J on his own, and when you sing and stop at random places, he can usually tell you what letter is next. It's crazy!
Tantrums....are in full force. We are being really good about not caving, and he is learning pretty quickly he will not get his way. It wears on our patience at times, but I know this is a battle that needs to happen--he needs to know who is in charge. The kid knows he is testing us/pushing our buttons, too. We have a 30-minute drive from daycare to the house and throughout the trip, I pass him toys. He always asks for books. He reads for a while, then likes to try to eat the book. Now, when I reach back and hand him a book, I tell him he can have it, but when I see him try to eat it, I will take it away. When he gets quiet and I look back, he has the book poised in front of his wide-open mouth. When he sees that I am looking at him sternly, his eyes twinkle and he slowly moves the book closer to his mouth, then pulls it away. This continues until he actually tries to bite it. I then take it away and he giggles. The kid is REALLY trying to see if I mean what I say...and, yep, I mean it!
I am finding this stage SO much fun--despite the tantrums. I love that you can practically see the wheels spinning in his mind!

VOCABULARY - Paige amazes us every day. She is quite the chatterbox and I can barely keep up with logging all of the words she says. There are over 150 that she knows and says and she also says mini sentences :) Her voice makes us melt. She is a crack up, for instance, tonight:
PJ: "Poo poo? Poo poo?"
Me: Did you go poo poo?
PJ: "Uh huh!" Poo poo. Ucky. Changee?" (pointing at the diapers next to the bed)
Me: "Oh, poopoo is yucky? You want me to change you?"
PJ: "Ok!" (with a big smile, runs and lays down on the floor for me to change her) "Changee!"
Then as i'm grabbing the wipes, she's standing there waving her hand in front of her face making a icky face and saying "siinky" (stinky).
LOL.
TANTRUMS - Not too many here, but she has definitely thrown some. More dramatic than actually upset though LOL. She's such a faker, it's quite funny.
Her favorite things right now are trying to jump (she does the whole motion, but her feet never leave the ground all the way haha), Toy Story, books, puzzles.....and of course eating. She's a little piggy and eats anything and everything. She's also obsessed with having her dolls/toys "wrapped" like babies. She hands us her Woody doll (from Toy Story) and says "Wrap", "Wrap, please" and gets sooooo excited when he's all wrapped up like a baby. She rocks him and pats his back LOL.
I swear, she just gets more and more fun each day :) Every time I start to think "this is the best age", it just keeps getting better :)

Congrats Emily, and Welcome to the world Little Tyler!!!! weee.... that really gets my baby fever going!!!!
Booey - That poo poo conv cracks me up!!!
I fogot to post my DD 18mth WBV stats. We went last week.
Weight - 32lbs
Height - 34 3/4 inches
Everything checked out great. She is still on the 95% curve for both. Makes sense, because both my DH and I are tall and not tiny people. Ped says she is a healthy kid. She got her shots, and she told me she all caught up and next shot is right before kindergarden. So that is good, but the thoughts of giving a 5 year shots does not sound fun. I really like my ped so when we move not looking forward to finding a new Doc.
Take Care!

Booey My son does the hand over the nose and says "pooowee" or "poopoo" he especially likes to do this once I have put him down for the night so that I'll pick him up out of the bed and check him and he gets a few more minutes with me. Slick little guy.

Thanks for all the congrats everyone! We're really excited to have him here :)
Amy - There's nothing like a newborn to fuel baby fever! Heck, even I'm going, "honey, are you suuuurreee you want me to get rid of my maternity clothes?!?" Haha.
Booey - That conversation sounds EXACTLY like ones I have with Ilanna every day when she poops! Too funny. Ilanna waves one hand in front of her face while holding her nose with the other and says, "pooey, sink".
Ash - It's amazing how funny they are and what they'll do to get that extra couple minutes, eh?!? Haha.
Neen - You're so close! Can't wait to here when you have your little one!

Just bumping us up.
Hope Everyone had a good weekend! Mine was taking care of a sick child. Ugh!! She came home from Day Care on Friday with a fever. She had a runny nose for a while, but I do think her fever is related to teething, because her fingers are constanly in her mouth. As well as she really hasnt been eating much. All signs of her teething. She was just so fussy and cranky this weekend. It was starting to wear on me and DH but we got through it. Luckily it was finally not so humid out and we enjoyed some time on the back porch hanging out.
On a good note, we have had 3 people come back and look at our house twice. Not getting my hopes up but it is a good sign. We shall see!!!
Take Care Ladies and Have a Great Week!

Ok.. Where the heck is everyone..
Lisa, you are probably busy moving into your new house.
Kate, you are spending that xtra money from selling your house.
kenswife, Koala Gurl, - Taking care of toddler and newborns.. Ok you have a real good excuse.
neen - PG and taking care of a toddler.
Everyone else - Probably too busy taking care of all the toddler tantrums.
Anyway, I am so excited and had to share my news.......
No I am no PG...................................
WE HAVE A CONTRACT ON OUR HOUSE!!! Yippee!!!
So I am hoping that everything works out, but will be holding my breath until we close. It was a great offer and very solid that we didnt have to negotiate much. But they want to close in 30 days. 11/16. So that means I have to find a rental in Ohio, pack, organize a long move from FL to OH, work full time, and take care of a Toddler. Ack... My head is spinning.
Ok that is it..
Take Care!!! And come back!!!!

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You must be soooo excited to finally have a contract! So happy for you! It'll be a busy 30 days for you but you'll be happy in the end, I'm sure!!!
Ilanna is driving me crazy! She's having mini "breakdowns" every day. I can't blame her necessarily b/c the new baby has created a lot of changes for her. But if I tell her anything.....even "come here sweetie" (in a nice, quiet toned voice  ) - that's it! She acts like I've yelled at her for doing something wrong. She's been very emotional. Hopefully it gets better as we spend more time "adjusting". Oy! And when she's not crying she's calling my name every 5 seconds :)

Yay Amy! That must be a nice stress lifted!! Good luck with all you are going to have going on in the next month!!
Emily- I can only imagine how tough that must be (for both you and Illana), a LOT of my friends had babies this year, and I know whenever I go to see them and am holding their newborns, Connor becomes uber clingy and all I hear from him is "all done! Up!", and that's only with a little visit.. I'm sure Illana will adjust in time, hopefully for your sanity, sooner rather than later. ;)
---
We are moving in this weekend. We had the entire first floor hardwood floors finished, so we were pretty much banned from there for a week, so we'll finally be able to get back in there tomorrow and finish painting and start unloading the POD. We'll move the rest of our stuff from my parents this weekend, and hopefully be sleeping there by Sunday! I'm so ready to get settled and just hoping the transition doesn't really affect Connor too much. It didn't phase him when we moved in here, but I don't know if it was because he was already sort of familiar with this house (being it's my parents), so we'll see.
Connor has a chest cold, as soon as he lays down he starts coughing away. Needless to say, it has not made for easy sleeping/naps for him. So, I am very tired! :)
Have a great weekend everyone.

It gets better!! DD was just like that, and every day she gets a bit better (she still can get a bit fussy when I nurse, but maybe only one or two nursings now as opposed to every feeding.) Some days she goes back a bit (kinda 2 steps forward, one step back). But on the whole, it has gotten much better. She now tries to pick up the baby (by the neck) and gives him lots of hugs & kisses. She even likes to swing the swing when he is in it (of course monster swings.) So we have new issues, but the whining / temper tantrums are much worse. :)

Kate, you are spending that xtra money from selling your house.
How did you know? :p
Amy Major congrats on getting an offer!!! I hope that it goes smoothly - the stress relief has got to be huge (I know!), and it will get even better when it's all said and done. You are going to have a busy month! Good luck with everything!
Lisa Yea for moving in this weekend! You must be so excited. I hope Connor feels better (and you get more sleep!).
Emily I hope Ilanna's "breakdowns" get easier for you. Like Lisa said, whenever I hold another child/baby Evan comes running over to me and clings to me wanting to be held. It must be a huge adjustment for her, but I'm sure she'll come around. How is your new little boy?
***
We are going away overnight tomorrow! I am so excited! First we are going to this amazing Japanese spa where we will get a cedar enzyme bath (similar to a mud bath - sounds funky, but it's supposed to be great) and then massages. Then we will stay at our favorite B&B which has an amazing restaurant and SLEEP IN the next day (can you tell I'm excited about sleeping in? My DH is slightly offended that's what I'm looking forward to the most!) Saturday we'll go wine tasting and just have a leisurely day. I can't wait to just relax, it's been a long time coming!

Our c/s is scheduled for 11/20- which is exactly 5 weeks from next Monday. I am soooo looking forward to getting this initial couple months over with. Recovering from the c/s and sibling issues are my main concerns, but fortunately, DH will be home for the first 2.5 weeks, and my mom is coming to town to help with DD for the first week while I am in the hospital. :)
Ok.. Where the heck is everyone..
neen - PG and taking care of a toddler.
Yup, pretty much. Some days are far better than others. DH is still traveling a lot for work, so that does not help.
Anyway, I am so excited and had to share my news.......

Hearing this scares the crap out of me!!!!!!!!!!!!! DD has good days and bad days- which directly affects me- but I am praying they do not get to this point. Yikes! Good luck! I hope she adjusts soon.
We are moving in this weekend.
YAY!!!! You must feel so relieved! Good luck with C's cold. Poor guy.

We are going away overnight tomorrow! I am so excited!
I can't wait to just relax, it's been a long time coming!

Thanks Girls for all the congrats!! I really appreicate it. Now I have moved into full on panic mode that as of Monday we have 30 days to organize a move. The biggest things is finding a place to live. It is such a small town that we are moving to that rentals are hard to come by. My sister is looking into a couple of options for us and I have a call out to a realtor. I am sure something should come together.
DD has been a total cranky head the last few days. I truly hope it is teething and that she is not turning into the devil!! She is drooling a lot and when she eats things she crys when she chews. She is fine one moment and then the next she is in a full out cry. Ugh!!!
kenswife - I hope things get smoother for you and your DD. It is a hard transition so I am sure it will work out soon.
Brady - Yippee for the move, I am sure you can not wait to get settled. I will be intrested to see how Connor adjusts to the change since that will be me soon enough. Let me know of any good tips that helped you out in the transition with him.
Katie - Ahhh.. that sounds so nice... Hope your enjoyed the R & R.
neenbean - Ack 5 weeks.. Wow you will be home before Thanksgiving. I hope someone else is cooking your dinner!! ;)
Hope Everyone is having a nice weekend!

Cgmom Congrats on selling your house.
Brady Let us know how the move goes. We're planning on moving in the next 6-8 months here as well. I'm dreading how the new room goes.
Kenswife Hope things get better for you guys. Ryan has a fit when I hold another baby. I was holding my friend's newborn a couple of weeks ago and he hit both me and DH until I handed the other baby back to her mom.
Neenbean I can't believe how close you are! Do you have the room already?
We've been soooo busy here. I'm hoping things settle down in the next few weeks, but right now I'm taking a procrastination break instead of doing what I need to be doing.

Hey Everyone!!! Happy Friday!!!
I have been super busy here. We had our inspection and ran into a little snag with our Master Bathroom Shower. The inspector noticed a leak, most likely coming from the shower pan. My DH and I always thought that the shower was not in the best condition but we never knew it was leaking. So we have been busy scrambling finding contractors to give estimates. It does look like it is going to be that bad. We are getting anywhere from $1000 - 2000 dollars to fix. We agreed to pay up to 1000 dollars of repairs, but we said we would fix the shower and not take care of anything else on the list. The other things were very very minor probably less than $500.00. So I think we are ok. It just may delay the closing, but all in all we still should be in good shape.
On another note, we found a place to live in OHio. My sister found it and sent pics. It is a great 1200 square foot townhome with lots of storage, I think it is perferct for someone temporary until we buy a new house. However we dont want to commit to it until we know for sure about the above issue and closing date, and of course they wont hold it unless you put down $750.00 which would be non refundable if something goes wrong on our end. So we are just going to have to wait it out and hope that townhouse does not get rented.
DD I think is finally over the sickies and teething crap we had for the last 2 or so weeks. She is back STTN and a much more pleasant kid to be around. Makes for a happy mommy!!!
DH and I are going out on SATURDAY. Just him and I. For a date night. It is our anniversary on Monday. We are going to my fav nice restuarant. The Chart House, which has great views of downtown and wonderful food. We also may take in a little movie or something. Would like to wear something nice but hate to buy anything new. We shall see!!
I hope everyone else has a great weekend!!
Take Care!
Katie

Amy I hope everything goes well with fixing your shower and that it doesn't delay the closing too long. I know I held my breath when we had our home inspection, but luckily we didn't have to repair anything. Have fun on your date night! You definitely deserve to have some fun after the stress of the past few months! Glad DD is feeling better.
We had our overnight last week, but I ended up getting a 24 hour flu bug the day before and generally felt like crap when we were gone. We almost cancelled, but I was determined to go, sick or not. Overall it was really nice to get away and remember what it is like to be a couple again! The B&B we stayed in is amazing!
Of course then Evan got sick too and was apparently throwing up all night when we were gone. I didn't find out about it until we were on our way home, which is probably good because I wouldn't have relaxed at all if I knew he was sick. Now he's got a cold, but his mood is happy! He's singing to himself in the next room as I type this.
Lisa How did moving in go? Are you guys getting settled in?
What's everyone doing for Halloween? Evan is going to be a devil! It's very cute! And so appropriate considering the age (tantrums, etc). I think we are just going to pass out candy at home since I think he's too young to understand trick or treating. We might go to one or two neighbors, just to show him off. And the day before there's a party with the mother's club so at least he can use his costume twice.

Katie - Cute that you son is going to be a Little Devil. I think that would fit my DD personality these days. Sorry you were sick on your overnight but isnt it nice to reconnect as a couple.
Halloween - My DD is going to be a Lion, if she actually will put on the costume. She has her halloween party at Day Care on Friday. They have a custome parade and a fall festival that we will go to so that will be fun. I also do not think we will go trick or treating either. Maybe to our next door neighbors house. I think she will have more fun staying at our house and giving out the candy to the kids. We are going to crave pumpkins this weekend.
So we went out on our date night and as Katie said it is so nice to reconnect as a couple and have"adult conversations". I didnt knb wat to do with myself at dinner. Usually I am coloring or something with DD. However as we were leaving the resturant my FIL calls and said that my MIL fell is ok, DD is ok but she probably needs to go to the hospital Turns out my MIL broker her wrist in 2 places. She actually fell in our kitchen and had DD in her arms but held onto her and caught herself with her wrists. She did that at 7p but they didnt call us until 9:30pm  . They said they didnt want to ruin our night out. Anyway she had surgery yesterday she should be fine but I could not believe it. She sat in pain for 2 hours.
On another note, we are still good to go with the house. We got a contactor to fix our bathroom fro 1500. The buyers agreed if we fixed that we didnt need to fix all the other small stuff so we are still set to close 11/16. Yikes... I was in denial so I need to get my butt in gear.
Anyway, hope are all having a good week.
Take Care!
Brady

Amy- Glad to hear everything is good to go with your house and you had a nice date night!
Katie- You must post pictures of Evan as the devil. I love that costume idea, very fitting for this age! ;)
--
Things have just been beyond chaotic here. Things are finally starting to calm down in terms of the unpacking and moving in thing, but now Connor has decided he doesn't really want to take an afternoon nap... so, needless to say, it's been very hard to get a minute to myself lately. I feel so selfish saying that, but I was so spoiled as he had always been a great napper. When he went to one nap, it was always at least 2 hours, but usually closer to 3. Since we've moved it's been as short as 10 minutes (today!) to an hour and a half being the longest. I've been trying to figure out what could be different, you know besides a brand new house- and that's all I can figure out. He has dark curtains now, I'm going to put a humidifier in his room tomorrow to try the "white noise" angle and then just cross my fingers that this isn't the end of napping!! It's way too soon and I know he still needs that hour or two.
But, other than that.. we are loving all the space in our new house. It's been really nice to have a family room/playroom on those rainy days. It gives me hope for surviving winter anyways! :o
We are going to head out to the park while the weather is still nice, I had more to say but I'll try to come back if he ever sleep longer than 10 minutes again!!

Happy Halloween!!
We tried to go Trick or Treating tonight with Evan, but unfortunately he just wasn't having it. I think he was overstimulated by all the craziness. We had family over, I was running around like crazy trying to prepare for it all and I think he picked up on it. He went to one house and was really cute, but the second house was blaring loud "Ghost Busters" music  and he just lost it after that. So we made it to 2 houses. Hopefully next year will be better. He did love having people come to our door however.
I'll try to post pictures in the next day or two of him in his devil costume. I kept calling him a "handsome devil" because he was so cute!!
Hope everyone else had a great Halloween!

Very Cute, Katie!!
We took Connor out in the neighborhood here, and he had a blast. He was too funny, he loved to knock on the doors or ring the bells. He didn't understand that you "save" the candy for later though and wanted to eat everything as he left the door. Needless to say, for a kid that maybe had m+m's once before in his life, he had quite a bit of candy last night!:o I figured it's only one night and it's already been hidden today! lol. But he just kept running.. and running... and running... he was way too hyped up to see all the kids out (and probably the two packs of m+m's didn't help). It was adorable.
Here's a few of Connor as Tom Brady of the Patriots (he wouldn't keep his hat on):
This one I just love, reading his favorite book (while we were getting ready):
Here he is just running..
and running..
]
DST Question- Did everyone's DC adjust to the time change with no issues? My once 7-7:30am waker is up at 6am on the dot this past week. I know it's only been 3 days, but we are just doing everything the same and hoping for a change. I don't know when I should maybe try changing his bedtime or anything. Anyone else?
ETA- I don't know what I'm doing wrong with the pictures, why they are so big, I haven't used Photobucket in a while. I'll come back in a bit to try to fix. sorry!
Katie

Lisa Connor is such a cutie! I love that he had so much fun. I just let E play with the candy in the wrapper - I was too afraid of the consequences! ;)
DST E has been waking at 5:30 - 6:00 for the past month and I was totally dreading the time change. I was right to! He got up at 4 a.m. on Sunday, that was harsh. Then he woke at 3:00, then 4:30 on Monday. That said, I think he was so tired from waking up early I put him down for his nap earlier and he actually slept in later (6:45) the next day. So I'm trying to put him down for his nap between 12-1 (somedays I was waiting until 2 or 3) and seeing if that makes a difference. Today he woke at 6:30. So maybe it's starting to change???

Katie - What a cute little devil.... And I just about spit out my drink from the pic of your hubby. That is too friggin funny. I so appreciate that. I guess it fits our life and housing struggles. I will have to show that to DH.
Lisa - Sorry, can see the pics. I know what you mean about the candy. DD wanted to open everthing. She loved the smarties... I also hid the candy last night.
DST - Yes DD started waking early. She is up now at 6:15-6:30a and she usually slept until 7:30 or so. I just think it is so bright she things it is time to get up. We put a blanket over her window but it still gets light in her room and hasnt help. On another note though she is like ready for bed by 7pm. I think because it is so dark out, and this is a kid that normall went to bed at 7:45 -8p. These time changes are more hassle than they are worth with kids....
We had a nice evening yesterday. She wasnt big on going to the doors she liked haging out and watching the kids come up the driveway. She did however keep walking back and forth to our neighbors because everytime she went over there they would give her a lollipop. She thought that was fantastic. I think she was like I hit the mother load. She also was happy in her custome which surprised me.
Anyway I would like to post pics but I have no idea what site to use. I became so accustomed to shutterfly. It looks like you guys use photobucket but any other recommendations??? I will have to play around with a few. I think a few folks on CC use flickr... May have to try that.
So we are about 2 weeks and counting to our move. So we got a place to move. I was able to get the townhouse. I have a to do list a mile long. It is hard to take care of everything plus work, take care of a toddler. My mom is coming down on 11/10 to help me and then she will drive back in the car with me to help with DD. So that will be a big help.
So that is it for me!!!
Take Care!

Amy- I had to take my pictures down since they were so flipping big. I don't know how to resize them! You were smart to stick with Smarties! The two diapers I changed this AM.. well, he won't be having any more candy again until next Halloween! ;) Glad to hear you were able to get the townhouse. Yes- moving with a toddler is hard! I'm glad your Mom is coming to help, I don't think we couldn't have done it without my parents help with Connor..
This stinks about DST! I got used to the nice 7am wake up... Let me know if anything helps or when/if the kids ever change back. Last year he was still so little it didn't really even phase him.

Oh, I totally hear you guys with DST!!! Ilanna is totally out of sorts! She'll wake up at 6am instead of 7am and she's all wound up in the morning. She wakes her sister up and laughs and screams. She gets the whole house up, that's for sure!
DH took the girls out trick or treating last night. Ilanna only made it to 2 houses. She didn't want to walk up to the doors. Apparently, she was having more fun running on the street. The outing only lasted an hour since she got fussy and it was raining (a cold rain too). She was soaked when she got home. She was a pumpkin :)

All the kids in their costumes are so cute!!!
We weren't planning on trick-or-treating last night but our friend/neighbor came by with their little boy who is 11 months older then Andy and dragged us out. I'm so glad we did because the boys were so cute together and they had a blast. They were really just interested in ringing the doorbells and not the candy. Andy let us put the hood part of his costume on him and he looked so cute. I will have to upload pictures for you all to see!!

Jen - I thought that was your name but didn't want to assume :p Thanks!
The costumes are adorable! Lisa, Connor is sooo cute! I love the black under the eyes (I'm not sure of the technical name)! We all have such cute kids if I do say so myself :) I still can't believe our kiddos are headed to 2 years old! Where did the time go?!?
Ilanna got super clingy in the past couple days. I've been doing a TON of picking up and putting down and picking up again  She even went up to another mother in the waiting room at the dr.'s yesterday and put her arms up for the lady to pick her up. She was nice and actually picked her up. Made for an awkward encounter though.
She is also VERY into mimicking (sp?) right now. She'll go to the pantry, open it up and go, "....let's see....ummmm..." I didn't know that I did that until she started repeating me. Turns out I do it with every decision I go to make  Smarty pants. It's cute though.
I really love this age, they are soooo entertaining!

Oh my goodness everyone looks so cute in their costumes!
I am sorry if this has been discussed before but I am not sure what to do at this point. H climbed out (well, we think he fell out) of his crib last night. Anyone else's child doing this? What did you do?
Brady
11-06-2006, 11:29 AM
Ash- Yikes, it's scary isn't it??!! Connor climbed out when he was just 13 months, just walked into my bedroom and said "hi!", I still have no idea how he did it. I panicked and was seriously looking into crib tents. First though, we lowered his crib to the absolute lowest setting and basically he just sleeps in there with a blanket and nothing else (that he could potentially use to climb out with). There are a couple threads in the 18m-4year old threads with other suggestions, but we were lucky so far in that he has not tried to do it again.
Good Luck.. but start with lowering his crib as the first step if it's not already at it's lowest.
ash313
11-06-2006, 12:06 PM
Thanks Brady! The crib is at its lowest setting. I am wondering if we should put him back in it tonight and see what he does but I hate to take the chance! We put him in his PNP last night since it is a couple inches lower than the crib.
Tenny
11-06-2006, 12:08 PM
ash313 Andy did this once and then never again. I think the drop out of the crib scared him so he hasn't tried again. I hope you find a solution!

11-07-2006, 06:37 PM
ash313 - Hasnt done it yet, which I cant believe because my DD climbs on top of everything else. I know my SIL had it happen a couple of times with my niece. She moved the crib to the lowest setting, but after she fell asleep she went in and put pillows on the floor next to the crib so in case she climbed out again she would have a cushion fall. She continued to do it and she was scared she was going to fall wrong or get hurt so she moved her to a toddler bed. That worked like a charm. She was like 20 or so months. Good Luck!!!
Speaking of Toddler Beds, Anyone move to one yet? Any luck? I was just wondering when the best time for that transtion. I am in no hurry since my DD stays in her crib.
Hope Everyone else is well. I am just a crazed packing fool.

We moved "I" to a toddler bed a few months ago. It went pretty well actually. She sleeps in it perfectly now. Every once in a while we have an episode of her falling out in the middle of the night but it's so low to the ground that she's just fine. The only thing is that she can get out of bed now so I had to completely baby proof the rooms (dressers, outlets, etc) and put a gate up. But it has worked. I have the benefit that she sleeps in a room with her sister though so she keeps an eye on her too. I've used pillows next to the toddler bed too. That helps.
The meltdowns have increased again. And she's become very needy. I don't mind but sometimes it's hard when I'm trying to take care of the little guy. We've done quite a few time-outs in the last week. It really works for her. She's only in the corner for a milli-second but she calms down and she understands that she goes there when she's misbehaving. Funny enough, during one of her tantrums the other day, she walked herself over to the corner before I had a chance to say anything. Ha.
We're testing out potty training too. The pattern seems to be: Sit on the potty - Do nothing for 10 min - Get a new diaper on - THEN poop! We have a lot of work to do. I'm going to let her lead on this one though. She's too young for pushing right now.
Koala_Gurl

toddler bed - Still in the crib (no rush really to get out of it). I am quite shocked actually that DD hasn't climbed out of it yet. She can climb just about anything else.
potty training - I've put DD on the potty a few times, and she has gone once. I think I am going to just start putting her on the potty at regular intervals (like just before / after nap, before bed, etc.) No pushing, no stressing though.

I'm planning to keep my son in his crib until he's about 12. ;) I can't even imagine him in a bed right now. So, yeah- we are still a ways away. I'm impressed Emily that Illana does so well in hers. I have a few friends that transitioned with no issues and others it was a nightmare.. so I'm planning to wait until we have no other option!
"Funny enough, during one of her tantrums the other day, she walked herself over to the corner before I had a chance to say anything. Ha. "
I had to laugh. We haven't done time-outs here yet, but when Connor is doing something wrong or something he KNOWS he's not suppose to be doing, he just disciplines himself. He says "NO NO NO! STOP IT!", lol. Of course he doesn't actually stop it.. but can you tell what I spend a lot of my day saying?? It's so hard not to laugh at him when he does that.. but I'm thinking I may need to alter my approach to discipline. :)
Ash- Has your son tried to climb back out of his crib again?
Pookie
11-09-2006, 05:27 AM
cribs Ryan hasn't tried climbing out yet, but we'll leave him in his crib until he does. Otherwise I'm thinking we'll make the transition at 2 1/2.
potty training Ryan will tell us when he has to go and run to get his diaper. He'll sit on his potty with clothes on, but haven't tried much without a diaper on. I figure he'll let us know when he's ready.
We bought a new house. Building wouldn't be done until February or so, but looks like next year will be lots of changes for us. I feel like there is so much to do with getting a new house ready, moving and getting our condo ready to rent out.

Thanks for all the replys on the crib/toddler beds. I think I am with Lisa, she is going to stay in until she is 12!!!
kenswife - That is great she is already transitioned to her toddler bed with no problems.
Potty Traning - I havent even started, or even tried. She just really has no interest. Maybe after we move and after the holidays I will introduce the potty and such. I was watching that Nanny 911 show and saw a 4 1/2 year old that wasnt potty trained, I was like Please do not let that be me!!!!
Pookie - Congrats on the house, that is very exciting but stressful at the same time. We will be all hear to help you through the stress.
Today is my last day of work. I am only working a few hours tomorrow and then on vacation for 2 weeks for the move. Yippee!!!! It wont be a restful vacation but I am very excited.
Oh I also want to share with you ladies my PG scare. Last week I was nauseous all the time, had the gags, and headache. All the same signs when I was PG before. So I counted when DD and I DTD but with my cycle one never knows. I was think OH MY GOD this is just not the right time. So I broke down yesterday and took a PG test and it was Negative, today I started my cycle!!! So I think it was probably stress or something. In one way I was so happy I wasnt but in another way I was sad, because I thought I got PG with no help!!! That wasnt the case, so we will stick with our orginal plan and start TTC next year.
Hope everyone is having a good week!!!

Well, we had him in his PNP the last couple nights (it is a few inches higher on the side than the crib) and he did fine but this morning we went in his room and he had gotten out of the PNP and he was trying to get the door open. I think we'll get him a toddler bed. I have half a mind to just get him in a twin now instead of the toddler bed.
**potty training** H will bring me diapers and wipes and say "poo-wee" but when I check him he may or may no be wet but not poopy. I think he confuses the two and tells me maybe when he needs to go? But then he won't sit on the potty yet. He HAS gotten on the "big" potty but hasn't done anything.

Toddler Beds I was thinking of moving him when he is around 2. But I will wait and see if he ready then.
Potty Traning Well DS just moved up to the Toddler 2 room at school where they start introducing the potty. I haven't gotten one for home yet. He has showed some signs of noticing when he needs to go. But we haven't done anything yet.
Pookie Congrats on the new house!!

Just digging us out from page 3. We all must be getting ready for Thanksgiving...:)
Not much new over here. We are really in the throes of terrible twos (early). Somedays Evan is great, just a happy, compliant, sweet little boy. Other days - it's just meltdown after meltdown and so on. Those are really long days...
I got him a potty chair a couple of months ago, but it's mostly just a toy. Then a week or two ago I walked in the bathroom and found Evan sitting on the big toilet! Reading a book! It was hilarious. So we went out and bought a potty seat/ring for the big toilet. He will sit on it, but nothing has happened. Now he just says "poo poo" when he wants to sit on it to get out of having his diaper put back on. We are going to take it s-l-o-w.
We're hosting Thanksgiving this year. My dad is coming in from New Hampshire - we haven't seen him in a year, so he is super excited to see Evan. I'm just trying to figure out how to cook and keep a child entertained all day.
We had professional family portraits taken a couple weeks ago. It was on one of Evan's meltdown days. He did NOT want to sit still, but our photographer worked really hard. We were convinced that she got nothing out of the hour and a half we were there. But she sent us about 50+ proofs and some are amazing! I'm really pleased with them. I don't feel comfortable posting the website here, but email me through my profile or PM me and I'll send you the link if you want to see them.
Also just wondering if Nina had her baby yet?

11-22-2006, 05:51 AM
Katie, we are doing the same thing with the potty. H loves to sit on it and is so proud of himself. He will say "peepee" 18thousand times while he is on it but has yet to actually do anything on the potty. He has also started to bring me diapers and wipes and says "poopoo" but when I go to change him there is nothing. I have no idea why he does this.
You are lucky your photog was able to get some good shots. She must be really good at what she does!
? Anyone's child burp a lot? I feel like my kid burps more than normal. Silly I know...
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!

ash313 DS burbs some. I never really thought it was too much though.
Well I have two big announcements!! One, Andy went PeePee on the Pottie twice in one day last week, but haven't done it since! But we are still really proud!! Second, I'm got my BFP last Friday and so far my beta # are looking great! So it looks like Baby #2 is on the way!! (keeping fingers crossed!)

Hey Everyone.. I am here. Moved and all. Can I just say what an exhausting experience and with a toddler on top of it, I was ready to pull my hair out. We all got sick and on our 2nd night in Ohio I had to take DD to the emergency room. She was running a high fever, shaking and coughing constantly. Scared the crap out of me. She is ok. Just an upper respitory infection. She started getting sick a few days before we left Ohio. So yesterday my Sister took DD pretty much all day since she was feeling better to her house so me and DH could finally get some order in the townhouse. I feel much better not living out of a suitcase. Some days I didnt know if I was putting on clean or dirty underwear. Gross I know!!!
Just wanted to pop in and say we made it safe and sound and wish everyone a Great Thanksgiving!!!!! We are going to my sisters so it should be nice!!!
Tenny - Hey Congrats... and praying for sticky vibes for you!!!

11-22-2006, 07:19 PM
Oh, Tenny, BIG congratulations on both counts....but mostly the second! I am thrilled for you!
Our big news is that there is no longer a crib in our house. After witnesing Aidan climb out of the crib on Sunday afternoon during a time-out, then FIVE times between midnight and 2:00 AM that night (each time, running to his door, standing at the gate and shouting, Ta-DA!) we took down the crib. We haven't converted it to the full size bed yet, instead we just have the mattress on the floor (full size mattress). It was a tough few days early on, but I think it is safe to say he is fully transitioned into a Big Boy Bed.
Funny, when we first put up the crib, I was shocked to see a crib in my house. Now I am amazed we don't have one!

Hey everyone... I try to read the posts here every few days but I rarely post myself because I feel bad that I don't have time to reply to everyone.
Tenny Congrats on your BFP. It's so exciting to see that some of us are pregnant with baby #2. You must be so excited. Hopefully I will be TTC baby #2 soon :)

Is everyone else in the terrible 2 stage? It's getting to the point that my DH and I have to entertain DS with toys during dinner just to get him to eat. I feel like I am creating a monster by allowing it but I just can't let him not eat.
I hope everyone enjoys their long weekend.

Tenny- Congrats! I am right there with you!! I got my BFP around the same time as you. Looks like we will be July mama's together too! (although I might be miscounting and I might be a August Mama. I was never good at keep track of those things! I just can believe the the June mama's are in their 2nd trimester. I just found out I am knocked up, I can't almost be in my 2nd trimester!)
Anyways, I think I am due July 24, 2007. My first doctors appointment isn't until Jan. But I might keep looking for a new doctor (a different new doctor).
DS has been such a little monster lately. He seems to have more time-outs than play time on some days (today being on of those days!) But I am very impressed that he stays on the timeout chair for all those timeouts!
I just signed us up for swimming lessons. Anyone have any advice how to keep him from slipping on the tile and in the shower room? I am most nervous about that. (and being seen in a swim suit! YIKES!)

Oh wow- Big Congrats to Twainny and Tenny!! How exciting!
I know Nina had her baby as well, but I don't know if she wants me posting all the details, so I'll leave that to her. But all is well with everyone!
Twainny- Do you have water shoes for your son from the summer? I would put those on him or even those little water sandals while he's getting over to the pool and out of it if you are worried. Have fun! I took C. when he was about 9 or 10 months, I really would like to do it again this winter.
Amy- So glad everything is okay with Catherine. Glad you survived your move, it's a whole different story with a toddler, eh? Enjoy getting settled.
Not much new here, just enjoying this unseasonably warm weather and taking advantage by playing outside tons before we are cooped up inside! My husband and I are going on an overnight next week for a combined birthday gift (he is in Nov., I am in Dec.), so looking very forward to that!! :)

Thanks for thinking of me Katie! Our DD#2, Lauren Elizabeth was born on 11/20 via scheduled c/s. :) My recovery has been so much easier (which I did not think was possible!). I was walking the halls about 7 or 8 hours after my surgery and walking around my room 4 hours earlier. I can pick DD#1 up without a problem- though I limit this. Things are well, but the sleepless night SUCK!!!! DH and I were not prepared for that at all.
Big sister is really enjoying the responsibilities that come with her title, but also is "in the throws of TERRIBLE TWOS" Ugh. It is rough, however, DH is home for another week (I am so spoiled to have him for 3 weeks this time!) and we are dealing with each moment as it passes. I am scared to death of life when he goes back to work. My sis will come will be here then for a couple days, so that should help.
Congratulations TENNY and TWAINNY on your BFP! A H & H remaining pregnancy to you both! :) :)
eta: we bought DD a potty seat right after her birthday. It is more a place for her to sit while we are in the bathroom and a stepstool for washing hands. She began alerting us to a diaper change about a month ago, but we will not begin real potty training until well after her 2nd birthday- unless she initiates. With all the change in our home, we absolutely are not about to start something new right now. We have a major move (DH's military, so we transfer often) happening in the spring, so that is also a concern.

I just signed us up for swimming lessons. Anyone have any advice how to keep him from slipping on the tile and in the shower room? I am most nervous about that. (and being seen in a swim suit! YIKES!)
Two ideas, get him water shoes, like these! (http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/sm-kids-water-shoes--fi-779187_cp-2367454.766034.766042.html) We got some for DD#1 while at a water park this past summer. They helped a LOT!
OR, when we were taking swim lessons last year, I would put DD in her booster seat while I showered. Of course, she was not walking yet, so it made sense at the time. Another option is to buy a cheap umbrealla stroller that is only used for your swim classes- strap him in when transporting from pool to shower.

lcarlson - Love the Dino Custome!!!
twainny - Congrats!!! A H & H 9mths to you or 8 depending on your due date!!! :D
Brady - Ahhh an overnight trip. Enjoy yourself!!!
Nina - A Big Congrats on the new edition to your family. I love that name Lauren Elizabeth... So pretty!!! I am sure you will get into a routine once your DH goes back to work, but I am sure the inital thought is not real fun!!!!
So not much going on with us. We are finally settled in. We put up a tree this weekend and a few decorations. It looks quite nice. We pretty much have our new place feeling like home. I have to say I am so happy to be home. I feel so less stressed then I did trying to sell the house and everything in Florida. Even my DH said I think DD is even more happier because we are not stressed and snapping off of each other. We all just seem happy. I know that sounds sappy but it is true. It is so nice this weekend on SAT my mom, sis and DD went on a shopping trip and I had DD out all day and she was an angel. I could not believe it, and then yesterday everyone came over and my DH went somewhere with my BIL and the girls just hung out at my house and played so much fun and it takes so much stress away from me.
However I have to get used to the weather. It is 18 degrees this morning. DD did not like putting on the big winter jacket. She just gave me a funny look like what the heck is that. I guess my Florida girl will get adjusted.
I guess I should get back to work.
Take Care and Have a great week!!!

Twainny Congrats on your pregnancy! H&H 9 months to you!
Lisa Enjoy your overnight away! Happy Birthday too!
Amy I'm glad you are settled in your new home. I completely understand what you mean when you talk about not being stressed anymore. It has made such a huge difference for us too. We now enjoy each other more.

So I have my virtual work office here all set up. It is so nice to have my own space. The cable people came yesterday to hook me up and finally got all the equipment sent to me by my company. I have a desk looking out a window it is quite nice.
While I am looking at the window right now it is SNOWING. Our first major snowfall. Well we are only suppose to get 2 inches but it sure is different than looking out my window in Florida.
So I have a question for all you cold weather moms. How do you dress your kids to bed? My DD wears the Carters Fleece pajamas. She will not keep a cover on. The last couple of nights she has been waking up around
2a and is all scrunched up in a ball like she is cold. We put blankets on her but she just kicks them off. So any of your experts can help a novice cold weather mom I would greatly appreciate it.
We are getting family photos tomorrow at Wal Mart. I did not want to spend alot this year with the money going out the window with the move and my DH not working yet. We shall see how the turn out.
Take Care Everyone!!

Great pictures, Katie! I can't believe how big all our kids are getting!! It has been so great to share this experience with you all through pregnancy, then birth and now they are all just little boys/girls! ;)
Amy- It must be so strange seeing snow again, eh? Glad you are all set up. Connor has this strange obsession with that container/bucket. This was him on Tuesday, I was trying to take "21 month pictures", ha-
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a190/lisaro/21months.jpg
Through the bucket he's saying "Cheeesee!!".
As for pajamas.. C. also wears the Carter's fleece, he wears slippers or socks to bed also. I usually go in before I go to bed for the night and put his blanket back on, but I doubt it lasts long... I don't think there is any way around it at this age.
Good luck with the pictures... I'd love to see them!!

Brady - that is cute! DD likes to put her lego bucket on her head too.
PJs - We are warm weather folks (well, it can get below freezing at night), but I usually leave the heater on a bit for the kids. (We sleep w/ our window open.)
I also use a warm-mist humidifier for DS when his nose gets a bit stuffy, and I realized that keeps the room warm too. I know they aren't recommended, but I use it anyway. :)

re:PJs~ when DD was still in a crib, we used the sleep sacs over her fleece pajamas. It was great! Now that she is in BGB, on cold nights, we double her PJs- cotton PJs, then fleece footed PJs over those. She is just beginning to like a blanket on her, but it lasts for only a little while. So far, doubled-up PJs seems to be our best solution.
Thanks for all the condolences/best wishes with DH heading back to work. He went back on Friday instead, but my sis is in town to help for a couple more days. She is super helpful!!!!! DD#2 is on a semi routine of eating every 3 hours +/- a little bit, so that makes things a lot easier.
I am seriously thinking of investing in a leash for DD#1. Has anyone used one? They seem cruel, but honestly, I feel like it is a safe way to provide freedom to move around, but keep her close. Does that make sense? For shopping, I am putting DD#2 in a sling, and DD#1 in her old stroller for now. It works well, but at events, it is impossible to keep C contained, so I need something when I won't have help.
Another fun note: DD#1 has pnuemonia (not contagious), so that has been tough dealing with that and trying to keep DD#2 from getting her cold which caused the pnuemonia(very contagious!). DH and I have both been ill this past week, too- he was vomitting and I had GI issues- totally sux!!!! My milk production decreased to nil from taking one day off because I was so sick I was afraid I would make the baby ill. Slowly trying to get it back up- pumping and nursing at every chance. Ugh.
Hope everyone is having a better weekend!!!

We use this, too! It is recommended for use with Pnuemonia, but we have been using it for over a year.

Neen First off, congrats on DD#2!!! I do have a leash for DS. It's one of the dog backpack ones. I think I've only used it once or twice. I don't use it as much as I thought I would since he can still run all over and throw himself on the ground and I don't like the looks I got. Our friends have the same one and they use it everyday. Their kid is much mellower than DS so that may be why.
Brady Love the pic. Too cute.
CG How is DD adjusting to the move? Any tips for moving with a toddler. We're suppose to close on March 1st, but we're thinking April is more realistic since there has been no change to our house since we bought it.

leash- Yep, we have the dog backpack one too. We got it at Target. I mainly use it at Disneyland so DD can walk and burn off some energy but still keep her close (she loves to walk, but often has her own agenda.)
colds - Oooh, we are passing around a good one here. DH got it first (though I wonder...there was a kid at My GYm last week that was coughing like crazy and runny nose down his chin.) That is such a pet peeve...stay home like we do if you kid is that sick!

I had a Manager meeting this week and had to travel to Phoenix. I hate being away from DD but feel so much better that my DH has more help now that we are closer to more family. DH said DD has done very well this week and family was a big help. However he said she calls my name "mama, mama' looking for me. So sweet. I leave later this afternoon on a flight wont get home till about midnight but I am so ready.
Thanks for all the comments on the PJ's. I do like the idea of double up. I may put her summer ones on underneath the fleece on really cold nights. We also put a bigger blanket in the crib it is a nice soft fleece blanket, instead of the small blankets . That has seem to help and she really seems to like it. She actually covers herself up when I put her to bed.
Leash - I dont have one but I have thought about getting one. I know I would probably need one if I had 2 small children. I should think about it because DD is not a stroller kid at all. I may get 30 mins in it if I am lucky and it must be moving at all times.
Pookie - DD has adjusted pretty well to the move. The first week was a bit of a struggle, because we were all sick. However she did not like her room with boxes and stuff in it. So we decided to get her room organized first. We actually hung all the stuff on the walls in her new room that was in her old room. Put her stuff all in place and removed all the boxes etc. After we did that she seemed to really settle in her room. I think she like to see a bit of normalcy . That seemed to settle her down.

Hope everyone had a good holiday. Ours was very nice and it was lovely to be around family. DD got spoiled of course and more things than she needs but had a great time.
Also, DH and I have decided to offically TTC so we are off and running. Kind of excited kind of scared.

Happy Holidays everyone! We had a great Xmas. My mom and stepdad came down from OR - Evan only gets to see them a couple times a year so it was nice to spend the weekend together. Evan got a train table from Santa. It is a BIG hit! All day long it's all about the "choo choo". Of course it's more fun dismantling the track than to actually use it, but he's happy...;)
Amy Glad to hear you had a nice holiday with your family! And congrats on TTC again! Wow! You'll have to keep us updated.
Anyone doing anything fun for New Years Eve? We do have a babysitter, but no real plans yet - maybe just a nice dinner out.
Happy New Year!

Wow, Good Luck Amy! Hope it happens quickly for you!
We had a really nice holiday here also. Connor was spoiled rotten and has tons of new things.. thank god for our playroom!!;) I'd say his favorites were his Cozy Coupe and play food for his kitchen.
No big New Year's plans here. I think we are going to go to our friends house during the afternoon.. everyone has kids now so we celebrate from 3-7pm! lol.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Can you believe our kids are getting ready to turn 2?
Thanks Ladies - Sometimes, I am so excited about #2 and then I am super scared. Like yesterday....DD had a cold, cough, and a low grade fever and she was just overall grumpy and whiny. Not fun, and I was thinking how the heck would I deal with it if I had 2. I guess you just do.
Katie - I am sure it was nice to spend the holdiays with your Mom!!!
Brady - I am jelous of a playroom!! That is one of the things on our list when we go looking for a house.
My DD favorite Christmas toys was 3 soft balls (football, basketball, and soccer ball). They were only $5.00. Go figure, she likes the cheap stuff!!
New Years Eve was ok... We went to an early dinner with DH parents and my Sister. I proceed to argue with DH because he was complaining we had to wait 15 min for a table. Ummm It is frigging NYE. DD was ok at dinner but when she is done she is done which is usually before everyoen else is done eating. We come home and have pie and coffe, and I was in bed at 10pm. Party Animals we are!!!!
Well back to work today but it is still quiet.
Take Care!!!

We must of gotten the same thing for DS. And he LOVES them! His other favorite toy was a prickly ball we got at the dollar store and a train I got for free. I don't know why I bother spending lots of money on all the other toys.
cgmom313 Good luck TTC! I hope it happens fast for you!
NYE was nice. My family was in town so we watched the Eagle's game together and then we put DS down for bed. My mom stayed home with him while the rest of us went to my friend's house for a NYE party. It was a good time, but I'm not used to staying up so late. Yesterday was really nice, my family left and DH, DS, and I just lounged around the house.

Happy New Year!
We had a low key NYE. My MIL came over in the afternoon so DH and I had a chance to hang out, shop, and had an early dinner. Then we came home, had champagne and stayed up until about 11:00 - just couldn't make it to midnight!
DH had all last week off, so it was really nice to just have family time. Now it's back to work today for both of us.
About Evan, I've really noticed his language skills exploding in the past two weeks. Now he is saying two word phrases - he never did this before, so it's really fun to see him putting words/thoughts together. It's hard to believe that our little ones are turning two in a couple of months!

NYE I worked during the day. When I got home, we went over to a friend's house. It was low-key and fun. I think I fell asleep on their couch around 12:30 or so. Ryan actually went to sleep in his PNP there, so that was nice.
I can't believe March is just around the corner. I can't believe it when I hear myself saying, "He'll be 2 in March." Seems like just yesterday we were all pg.

Happy New Year!
NYE was greatto us- first we went to a family event at the local convention center with several friends and their kids. We spent most of our time in the music room so the kids could run around like maniacs and not bother anyone. ;)
We came home and had a sitter take over while DH and I headed to our first night out without DD#2! I didn't leave DD#1 with a sitter until she was 7 or 8 months old. I left DD#2 with a very trustworthy sitter at 6 weeks! things have certainly changed. It was great to spend this night with adults, but we all mostly talked about our children. Figures. :o It was mellow and I am glad we did it.
New year's day we did not get out of our PJs- just lounged around the house and it was great! :)

neenbean - How nice that you and DH got a night out alone. I know it is rare especially when you have 2. Glad to hear things are going well with 2.
Language - Katie, I hear you I am amazed on a daily basis what my DD says. Putting words together is so funny to me. I still get frustrated when I know she is saying something and I still cant understand her.
Me, my DD, my Mom and Sister are going out of town this weekend. We are going to visit my Cousin her family and my Aunt who lives about 3 hours away. We didnt get to see them over the holidays and my cousin is just like another Sister to me. She has 2 older boys 10 and 12 but they love to play with DD which surprises me. I am a little stressed out about the trip because DH isnt coming. He helps me so much and even though my Mom and Sister help out, when DD gets whiny or cranky they kind of back off and give her to me. I just hope she is in a good mood and sleeps well. Sleep is another scary thing. She is just too big for the pack and play, so I ordered a traveling toddler bed from onestepahead.com. We will be sleeping in the same room together so I hope it works out. I am sure it will be fun but as you all know traveling with a Toddler can be very stressed out.
Take Care and Have a Nice Weekend!

Ain't that the truth? I have already left DD & DS with my parents from the get go! I guess it helps that DS takes a bottle (DD never did.) But it is SO much easier to leave them this time around. We are even planning 2 trips (short ones) without the kids this year. I guess you go for so long w/ out time away, and then all of a sudden you NEED it. :) Don't get my wrong, my kids are great, but one day I would like to read a book or magazine while NOT sitting on the toilet. (OK, TMI I know, but I think you all know what I mean!) ;)

Just wondering how you get your child to brush thier teeth? Do you do it for them, or do you let them "brush" their own teeth. I am starting to get DS on a routine of brushing (we didn't always make him before), he let me brush for him tonight, but I am not sure how long that will last.

I brush them first, then give DD the brush to do it herself. I don't know how long it will last, but I guess it is also a "non-negotiable." ;)

I do if for DS. Sometimes I kind of have to pin him down, but it's a non-negotiable as well. He doesn't seem very interested in trying to brush his own. When he decides he wants to, I'll probably brush them first and then let him brush.

Most of the time I let DS do it himself. He sees DH or I brushing his teeth and he wants to do it too. I try and help him once in a while, but he too independent for that!

Ditto what Tenny said. He does it when my DH or I brushes. He basically just sucks the toothpaste off of it and does a couple of brushes back and forth, but I figure it's better than nothing and at least he understands the whole concept. ;)

tooth brushing~ we bought DD an electric toothbrush (Oral B, like $5) for Christmas, so she love brushing her teeth herself. She actually loved "brushing" with just a regular tooth brush, too. However, we really brush her teeth just to make sure they are really clean- her idea of brushing is more sucking on the bristles. ;) We have not used paste yet, just wet the brush and let her play with it.
What kind of toothpaste are you all using for your kids?
We own Tom's Banana Strawberry and planned to use it, but what have you had success with?

01-08-2007, 10:58 AM
toothbrushing DS LOVES to "brush" his teeth and by that I mean, suck the toothpaste off and then ask for more! I let him do this and then I try to get him to laugh while I get in there and do a quick brushing. He really hates when I do it but he can't get the idea that he is supposed to actually be cleaning his teeth rather than eating the toothpaste. (I think he thinks of it as a snack! )

Brushing Teeth We usually let E just suck off all the toothpaste and then we brush his teeth afterwards! Actually, he loves to use my toothbrush (not very sanitary), but I think because it's mine it has an exciting appeal to it. We use Oral B Stages, Baby Tooth cleanser. He seems to like the flavor, so I think the toothpaste makes it a little easier. He knows it's not an option, so he doesn't protest too much. I also read on a thread a while back here on brushing teeth where a poster would either count how many teeth her child had or ask silly things - ex: I'll ask E - "Is there a monkey in there? Let me see" and he'll usually open up.
So, here's a question for our moms of two - How is it going? A loaded question for sure, but I'm curious about how you are handling having two - is it tougher/easier than you thought? We might be thinking of late summer, early fall to try for #2 so this has been on my mind a lot lately. Some days I wonder am I crazy to want another one?!;)
Brady
01-08-2007, 01:46 PM
kATIE-I was thinking of posting a VERY similar question! lol. I am scared to death of having another- I change my mind everyday on when we'll start trying/will we start trying, etc. I know we *do* want another child, but it is so daunting a thought when you have an active toddler, and just the whole thinking of how different it will be and will the second child get "gypped" (or even the first?)? People do it all the time and survive, so what is my problem?! (this is what I keep asking myself) ;) So yeah, every month I say "okay, this is going to be it!", then I go and refill my pill RX. ha.
I'll be interested to hear the responses from the moms of two out there!

Two kids - easy answer...you just do it! ;)
More detailed answer? You just do it. LOL! Really, we just knew we wanted 2 about 2 years apart (minimum of 18 months apart.) Who knew it would happen the first month. It is hard sometimes, but not as bad (yet) as I thought it might be. But then again, DS is not mobile yet! Ask me again in about 10 months.
If anyone has specific questions, fire away! I'll be happy to share! (Oh, and certainly don't worry about how could you love another child as much...you just do!)

Two kids - easy answer...you just do it! ;)
More detailed answer? You just do it. LOL!
My thoughts exactly!!!! I am exhausted and irritated at times, but this period of sleep deprivation is almost over... Kind of.;) It is only temporary and I keep having to remind myself of that! I think as soon as DD#2 STTN life will get a LOT easier. I try to keep DD#1 on the same routine- as she thrives on routine- and DD#2 just has to keep with the family schedule. It works most days and I would not take back our decision at all to have 2 under 2.
For those of you that are beginning to TTC now, your kids will have a great age difference and therefor your experience will be different- your oldest will probably be in school so that you will have more individual time with the baby... That is a huge benefit to having them a little farther apart than mine or Koala's or Emily's two youngest. I hope that perspective helps! I would be happy to answer any more detailed questions, but know it is possible- you just may not shower every morning (it may be at 10PM) and your house won't be spot less like it is now(but you learn to power clean at the important times). It is doable and worth it!

#2 This question has also been on my mind quite a bit lately as we're set to start TTC in May. I was talking with 2 mom friends of mine yesterday both with kids our DC's same age (1 due in May and the other just started trying) we kind of came to the conclusion that since our kids will be starting preschool next year ( ) that might help.
so I guess my question for moms of 2 is do you feel like things are easier now? I guess I'm just worried about those first few weeks where the Baby Blues kind of took over. We're so lucky to have Mom with Experience to ask questions.:)
Koala_Gurl
01-09-2007, 08:21 AM
Oh, yeah, I would NEVER trade anything for it!
DS is now 4 months, and smiles and laughs, and it is the greatest thing!
With the second, they kinda just have to go with the flow (basically DDs routine.) He seems to be more laid back than DD was (but I don't know if that is because I just don't have the time to cater to every whimper.) Not to say that DS is neglected, far from it, but when you have the first, I think we all were a bit "over" attentive (I can only say that in hindsight!)
I don't know if DS is more laid back because we are as parents too. It is just a totally different experience with the second. You know how when you have the first baby, you think, "what did I DO with all that free time before," when you felt like you really didn't have any? With the second you think the same type of thing, and for me, it makes me a bit more relaxed w/ both kids.
But, like I said before...ask me about this again when the are BOTH mobile. :)

Much easier now! The first few weeks are a bit hard, but while I only had a slight touch of blues the first time, nothing the second time. Not even any extra tears at sappy commercials. ;)
I think that may stem from the fact that we kinda knew what we were doing this time around. We weren't as worried about the crying as much as the first time. We knew DS was gonna be cranky from 6 - 9, and there wasn't anything we could do to help him, so he cried. With DD, we would have been a bit more stressed about it.

Thanks Jen and Nina for answering my question! I guess what I am really wondering is it a bigger adjustment going from 0 to 1 child or from 1 to 2? I'm guessing that the next time around I'll be more comfortable/confident in my parenting skills and know a little more about what to expect.
I know that I'll be able to do it, I'm just trying to imagine about how I'll meet the needs of two at the same time. Nina - you also raised a good point that our children will be farther apart - which is why I want Evan to be at least 3 years old and hopefully part-time in preschool, so I can have some one-on-one time with a new baby.
cgmom313
01-09-2007, 09:22 AM
Brushing Teeth - We use Oral B Stages Very Berry Toothpaste. I pretty much let DD suck the toothpast off and she does brush a little bit and then I play the game 'Is there a monkey in there, is there a bird in there, etc. etc." She usually opens up her mouth and I get a few good brushes.
Ladies of 2 - Thank you so much for sharing your perspective. You said alot of what some of my friends say you just "do it". Also like Koala Gurl said, I agree that I was probably a bit more attentive than I needed to be with DD. I think I know more of what to expect and how to handle things. I will say I was scared to death to bath DD when she was a newborn but now it would be no big deal to me.
So my question to you ladies of 2... How do you handle going somewhere? That is my biggest fear of being homebound to much. We like to go places and we take DD with us, and like this past weekend I took DD away with me. Not sure if that could happen with 2. I guess like anything you make adjustments. Do you feel you stay home more? Is it an effort to get out the door to go somewhere?
Since I am in my first 2WW wait  This discussion is very interesting to me.
Cmon Lisa and Katie join the fun!!! Maybe we could all be PG Toghether!!! :D

Thanks for responding Jen and Nina! It helps that you guys have the "real-life" experience to share.
I think, honestly, my biggest worry is that my parents will not be so close by this time. With Connor they were 20 minutes away and spent so much time over and helping out, letting me nap or whatever. They moved ~2 hours away recently, and that scares me to death that they will not be so close by (especially with two!)!
Good Luck this month Amy!

Hi girls! I can't believe it's been so long since I popped in. Yikes.
Anyway, care to hear from a mom of 3??? :p I agree.....you just "do it"! I've found that the more I've had the easier it has gotten actually. I think b/c I've been able to let go of some of my *control* issues with regards to routine and I'm much more lax about how the day is progressing. LOL! Hey, if I can do it, with 3 kids in a doctorate program working full time and starting up a home business, anyone can do it!!!! Believe me. However, I am leaving work in March but that's b/c I want to spend the max amount of time with the kids.
Ilanna is AMAZING lately. I'm just so in love with her age. Even though we've started the temper tantrums with throwing, I still am amazed everday when something new comes out of her mouth or she does something cute. It's so much fun for me. Apparently this is why I keep having babies ..ha! With 3 kids already I was definitely NOT expecting to get baby fever again this early. However, I am going to live vicariously through you new preggos for a while since DH might fall over dead if I got pregnant again right now. :p
Brushing Teeth - This is Ilanna's favorite nighttime activity by far. She loves to brush her teeth. We use Dr. Suess toothpaste and I just BARELY dab it on the tooth brush. I'll brush for her and then I let her have a run at it on her own. She doesn't do much except suck on the brush but it's the point that counts :)
I'll do more personal shout-outs later. I've just been a little swamped with all of my *endeavors*.

cgmom - w/r/t getting out of the house, we do it just as often if not more so now! Overall, the amount of work with 2 isn't really double...just incremental.
My lifesaver though has been a wrap carrier (there are several brands, the one I have is the hug-a-bub www.hugabub.com). It holds DS close to me, and as of now at 4 months, he still pretty much just falls asleep in it.
Using the carrier, we have been able to continue Gymboree / My Gym classes, park outings & shopping at the mall. For the grocery store, I find the extra big cart, put DD in the sitting area and DS in the infant carrier in the basket (or in the Hug-a-bub carrier.) Sure I can't buy as many groceries, but I do it to get necessities. I do the real shopping on the weekends.

kenswife - You bet we will hear from a mother of 3. You have the most expierence yet!!!! :D Also hearing you have 3 and doing all that you have been doing, I feel bad complaining about not having any time with just 1.
Koala - thanks for the response. I know a few moms who used the wraps and swear by them. I had one that I sold because DD didnt really like it but perhaps that is a good alternative with #2.
So this is probably not my month anyway to be PG. I am late but that is nothing new because I can go 30, 40,50 even 60 days. I know we did not DTD at the right time. Since we are getting finally settled into our new city, I am calling the new OB and getting my files from Florida. I am pretty sure I probably need the clomid to get PG. Right now we are seeing what happens until Mar and then going full swing ahead.
Are u all planning the 2nd birthday parties? What themes will you be doing? I think we are either doing Finding Nemo theme or Cars. Yes Cars for my DD but she loves it. It will be a bit smaller that her 1st party and we are having it at my Sisters. No room at our little cozy townhome.
Well everyone have a good weekend!!!! This is the first weekend since we moved before Thanksgiving that we actually have no plans. It is kind of nice to just hang out and do nothing.
Take Care

Emily Thanks for checking in! We love hearing from you - especially with 3! I can't believe all that you have taken on - I am in awe of you! I definitely see how you have to let go of some of the control issues, I know I would drive myself crazy.
Aren't the tantrums fun? Evan is the master of screaming at the top of his lungs. I've actually had about 4 people in the past 2 months tell me he is the loudest child/baby they have ever heard. (Which is such a helpful comment in the midst of a tantrum in public!)
Amy Wishing you luck w/ TTC#2. I hope that it goes more smoothly than you anticipate!
2nd Birthday I think we are going to have a party. DH decided he wants to plan it. Which is mostly fine by me, but the control part of me really wants to have a say in it (i.e. dictate how it's going to be! ;) ) I really want a transportation theme - or at least trains. E is obsessed w/ trains, trucks, cars (mostly trains at this point), so I'm trying to steer DH in that direction. We'll see...
Have a good weekend everyone!

2nd Birthday We're also doing a Thomas theme. We're having it on the 17th/ St. Patty's Day. After the party, we're planning for the adults to go out. Hopefull we'll be in our new house by then.
CG mom Good luck with TTC. I'm starting to get excited for us to start in May, but at the same time I'm still nervous.
Katie Ryan's also pretty good at the screaming thing. He really likes to scream in the middle of the mall for no reason. It's really embarrassing.

Are u all planning the 2nd birthday parties? What themes will you be doing?
We will likely do a farm theme.
QUESTION: Is anyone else having trouble with their child waking up all through the night? DS wakes up several times each night and comes into our room. We walk him back to his room and he goes back to bed but a few hours later he is back in our room. Anyone else dealing with this? How do you handle it? I'll be honest, sometimes if we are too tired we'll just let him sleep with us but not very often.

2nd Birthday- We are going with Sesame Street. Connor is obsessed with Elmo, so I caved and we are doing an Elmo/Sesame Street party. I'm not sure if I am brave enough to attempt an Elmo cake though.. so I might just do cupcakes with Elmo candy decorations on top or something. :o
Ash- We did a farm theme for his 1st bday, it was very cute! (if I say so myself.. lol). I made a cow cake.:)
Sleeping- It's funny that you mention it because just this past week he has been waking a few times, although not enough to warrant us going in there (he's still in a crib).. he sort of wakes and whines for a few minutes and then goes back to sleep. It's happened every night this week. Has your son been sick or anything? I don't really have any good advice since we haven't had to deal with the coming out of the bed issue yet...

01-19-2007, 12:23 PM
Brady Nope. Not sick. We are starting to think he might be getting scared or maybe wanting to check to see that we are still here. I am not sure what to make of this but it has been going on for a few weeks now. He is fine in our bed but of course we don't want to do that.

2nd Birthday Haven't given it much thought!
Sleeping DS is still in a crib so he isn't walking in to our room. But he has been waking up at night wanting something to drink. If we give him a sippy cup full of water before he goes to bed I hear him waking up, but then he puts himself back to sleep.
When did you transition your kids to a big kid bed? I want to do it before the baby #2 comes. I know I still have time, but I have started thinking about it!

Waking - DD woke last night for the first time (well, first time DH actually went in there to calm her down. I heard her say scared (not sure she even knows what that means??). I wonder if they are reaching the stage where nightmares can happen? Most times, if she wakes, she'll go down by herself, but something wasn't right last night.
2nd b-day - just doing pink & brown. DD is into Pooh, but we did that for the 1st b-day. The only other thing is the Disney princesses, but my niece just did that for her 3rd b-day, so I don't want to "copy." (Plus, this will be the last year probably that I can get away with "no" theme.)

Sleep/Crib E sleeps fine usually through the night. Occasionally he will wake, but put himself back to sleep.
Yesterday I was just talking w/ a mom at our playgroup about how E hasn't climbed out of the crib yet. Guess what? Last night he climbed out of his crib! I have no idea just how he did it, although his play kitchen is right next to his bed so he might have used that as leverage? Anyway, I had just come downstairs and we heard this loud bang/crash and I ran upstairs to find him standing on the floor at his kitchen. Yikes!
I put him back in and he went right to sleep, but now I'm worried he might try it again. And the crib mattress is at its lowest level. So my hopes of keeping him in his crib until he's 18 (:p) may be dashed! I dread making the transition b/c I don't see this kid staying in bed!

Katie, I was really worried, too, that Aidan would just not stay in bed. The first couple of nights were rough. He did get up and head to the gate and call to us. But, after that, he was 100% fine. Overall, the transition was VERY easy, and we are glad we had to do it early. Now, we read to him while snuggled with him in bed (very cozy), and, because he has a full size bed, sometimes, if he is having a rough night, one of us will climb into his bed to sleep. We don't do it often, but it's nice to be able to be comfortable when we comfort him at night.

Good Morning!!!!
Sleeping - Well must of you know I was not blessed with the best sleeper she does much better then she has in the past. She will STTN a few days a week and then other days she will be up once or so. We let her CIO but usually she is standing in her crib. It ususlly only takes 5-10 mins for her to go back to sleep. The Ped has told us with her she does have Excema and the itching may wake her up at times. We have just come to the conclusion she is like her father and not a good sleeper. Sorry no advice from me because that is our life on a daily basis.
Koala - I think we are at an age where nightmares can start, there are times that she crys really loud and just looks frightened. One time my DD had one and I finally calmed her down and she just would not go back into her Crib. Her and I ended up sleeping on the floor.
Crib - Still in hers and I can believe my Monkey hasnt tried to climb out. We have talked about the transition, because she is a big girl and it looks like she is running out of room in her crib. However like Katie I would like to keep her in there until she is at least 18!! :p
So we finally got some snowfall this weekend. About 4 inchs. I drove to church and it has been forever since I drove in snow, I though I am not in Florida anymore. We went out to my Sisters and DD did not want to play in the snow at all, she just kind of stared at it. It was funny. She thought it was funny when me and my Sister was throwing snowballs at her, but did not want to get on her sled. She was probably thinking I have never seen this stuff before in my life. So that was funny!!!
I hate Mondays with a passion. I have so much fun with her over the weekend that coming to work just sucks!!! My DH is still looking for a job in our new city. Fiancially we are ok but we can do anything about a new house until he gets a job and we cant really save any money until he gets a job. Ugh!!!! Plus he is driving me insane!!!!
Well I should get back to work. Everyone have a great week!!!

UGH! The sleeping situation is getting worse and it's driving me crazy!
Now DS is fighting going to bed. He is tired, clearly but he will keep coming out of his room and he will cry and cry and nothing is working. It literally takes over an hour to get him to bed. We even tried pushing bed time back a bit. Didn't help. Is anyone else going through this?
He is still coming to our room several times a night. We walk him back to his bed and he is fine for a an hr or two then he comes right back into our room. Now he has gotten smart and knows how to get in our bed without us knowing nad we will just wake up and just find him there. What can we do??

2nd birthday We'll most likely be doing some sort of Sesame Street theme. Macy is really into that now, has been since we took her to the Sesame St. Live show. It will be much more low key than the 1st birthday party though, I'm due with #2 nine days after her b-day! Probably just immediate family, subs or something easy, and my mom is planning on making an Elmo or Cookie Monster cake.

sunni76 - congrats on #2!!!!
We have dealt with the lovely stomach virus in our household since Saturday evening. First DD woke up at 1a and threw up everywhere was a mess the rest of the night and then on Sunday afternoon both me and DH got it. I tell you I would not wish what I had on my worst enemy. 3 people with stomach virus = a very gross house. We are all on the mend but I have been cleaning with bleach and Lysol like a mad woman. Such fun!!!
Then since I work from home full time I have had modem issues since Monday. I have had the friggin cable people here everyday since Monday and has taken them over 2 days to get me working again. So I am behind at work and what am I doing on CC  I am ready for this week to be over.
Sorry to be a downer!! Hope everyone else is doing well!!!
Ok, so I haven't posted in oh, say, six months? More? Can I kinda rejoin? I almost feel like I'm barging in....anyway, just wanted to say that I had b/g twins in Dec, so I have two newborns (8 weeks now) and a 21 month old toddler. So add me to the "3' list.
So, yes, two (or three) is a challenge but doable. In our house, we found that preschool or some sort of sitter is a good idea, so that the older child has their 'own' activity. It helped that JT has been in daycare for awhile, so the twins' arrival didn't change that part of his morning routine. Of course, he's super social and extroverted and loves "school,' which makes all the difference.
And the second/third is much easier for us, because DH and I are much less stressed about everything newborn. Things I remember being Soooo focussed on that now (in hindsight!) seem kinda funny - when, exactly, the umbilical cord would come off (whenever it wants to, who really cares?), how often babies need baths (when they are stinky or if they like it), whether they are reaching "every' developmental step exactly on time. Honestly with the twins I don't 'entertain" them nearly as much and don't worry so much about teaching them to grab, roll over, track with their eyes, if two ounces of formula in their EBM bottle would damage them for life (sheesh!!)...as long as everyone is fed, changed, and sleeping regularly we've had a great day.
short answer: changed my expectations of what I needed to do to be a 'good' parent and everything is better.
the biggest challenge is that you cannot leave a toddler and a newborn alone together for a single second, or your toddler will sit on them or try to feed them an apple or throw a ball at their heads...he's just trying to "halp", his new favorite word.
sunni congrats.
cribs JT has been in a twin bed since he was 15 months. we have mosquito nets up because of where we live,so although he can climb out, he usually doesn't . He prefers to call until his "staff" arrives to assist. He's been out or up crying these last two days because he's sick, but usually he's pretty good. we went through a 'come to mommy and daddy's bed" stage just before the babies arrived, but thank goodness he seems to have outgrown that. (for now.)
2nd birthdays um, do we need a theme? LOL. I might do a soccer ball cake, since he loves kicking and throwing balls. Probably won't be more elaborate than that. Not sure when I'll be able to bake a cake!
ETA: cgmom on getting out, nope, we don't get out as much. we used to just take JT with us to restaurants or to run errands, but it's much harder now. Our car has 3 carseats, and the logistics of getting everyone in with their diaper bags and when they are fed and not tired...just hard. DH has taken to running errands with JT in tow and leaving me with the twins, which works quite well. I do better with babies, DH needs to get out and go places.
we've take all 3 to the park (every Saturday at 9am - we meet 3 other families who had babies recently) , and to the pool. Other than that, it's divide and conquer.

AmyE great perspectives!! I'm hoping my expectations of what I "have" to do with my baby this time around is a little less/easier as well. I was way overly anal with Macy;) I really enjoyed your post, I hope you have time every now and then to update us again!
Macy has been wanting to be in our bed all the time lately too. I blame my mom for this. At their house, they let her go in their bed when she wakes up and she sits there and has her milk and watches Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or Dora. Well, now she wants to do that all the time at our house too! argh! Hopefully by next week her big girl bed will be up and that will distract her some!

AmyE Welcome back and Congrats on your twins! Are you sleeping at all these days? ;) Thank you for sharing your perspective too - it really does help to hear from moms of 2 or 3 and how you manage it all.
Nothing new over here. Evan just continues to talk a lot, he even said, "I wuz (love) you" to me when I put him down for a nap last week. I tell you that just melted my heart.

Just coming in here to complain. Evan is working on the first of his 2nd year molars and it is awful.. I've never seen such a cranky baby. Yesterday he just screamed and cried for what seemed like no reason (then I discovered the tooth working its way in). This morning it's more of the same... He's even got a mild fever which he's never had. These are the days when I'm glad I work part-time and can drop him off at daycare. ;)
His first year molars weren't this bad at all. Anyone experience the 2nd year ones yet?

None yet...though I kinda hope that it is...would explain DD's hellish behavior the past few days. (15 minute full-blown tantrums...all day long!) Where did my laid back girl go? I was so happy to go to MOPS this morning & have 2 1/2 hours of quiet. :)

OMG! I so hear you on that one. I really thought, OK, maybe we are truly hitting the terrible twos. His behavior has been awful - so much whining and screaming when he doesn't get his way. I've been petty good at not giving in to him, but that means I get to deal with tantrums in the aftermath.
I'm really hoping it's the teething. After the umpteenth tantrum last night DH looked at me and said, "And you want another one of these?"

That is the exact words from my DH. DD very whiny and of course the all time favorite word is "NO". And when she doesnt get her way she lays on floors and screams. It is just so lovely. I am agreeing it is 2nd year molars, but also just the age of the kids.
Anyone with any Romantic Valentines Plans? Ummm ... None here DH and I are just not very romantic these days. With him not working and home all the time and me working at home makes us for getting on each others nerves. I have this Friday and Monday off for vacation time and he actually wanted to take me to lunch and a movie Friday afternoon when DD is in day care and I would actually like to go to the mall my self, eat lunch by my self, and just have some time to my self. Get the theme MY SELF!!!! He really needs a job soon. We are just constantly bickering. We do have tickets on Saturday for a concert and my Sister is watching DD and said she would take her overnight. This might just be what we need some bonding time without a screaming banche of a toddler. Hmmm I digress!!!!
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY LADIES!!!

V-day plans I have to laugh because I just got back from my 33 week dr. visit, and my ob told DH at the appt. he should be buying me a massage for V-day:) That's why I love her:p Anyway, no major plans here. We had a sitter this past weekend, so we went out to eat Sun. night, kidless! I told DH maybe I would pick up a heart shaped pizza from Rocky Roccoco's tonight on my way home from work...I gotta call and see if they still have those!
Vday DH and I bought each other flowers. The exact same bouquet, actually. LOL. They are in mismatched vases on our dining room table. As a Vday present to us, the kids actually slept well. The twins went down pretty easily, and JT - who is still sick - didn't cry at all when he woke up at 3am. Nope, he just crept out of his room and snuck into bed with DH while I was feeding babies. :p

V-Day One of the kid's gyms was having a babysitting event, so DS went there. DH and I went out to dinner. I think it was our first kidless dinner in about a year.
tantrums We're having those here too, but not the molars. DS still doesn't have his full set of teeth in yet.

V-Day Nothing too big over here. DH had a consult for the laser eye surgery and was just going to come straight home after that. We were planning on going to an early dinner while DS was still at daycare, but he was at his appointment for over 2 hours and didn't get home until close to 4:30. So we picked up DS and went out to dinner with him. It was nice until DH found a large piece of broken plastic (kind of like glass) in his food. So we just came home, played with DS, and went to bed early. I guess we aren't very romantic people either!
molars DS hasn't gotten them yet either. But I think he lacks behind in the teeth department. He was almost a year before he got his first tooth, actually he started walking and got his first tooth in the same week. He only has 2 molars on top and 2 on bottom, and then 4 front teeth on the top and 4 on the bottom.
tantrums Just because he doesn't have his 2-year molars doesn't keep him from having tantrums! He is starting to become Mr. Independence, especially with me. He will still let Daddy help him with things, but if it is me he wants to do it himself and do it his way!

Yeah, seriously. I keep thinking we should of just went for it when Connor was about 6 months old, lol. At that point, you don't really *know* what's in store. ;) It's much harder to think about when you are dealing with a whiny child for 3 hours straight some days, popping two Aleve and in bed by 8:30pm! C. has his moments as well tantrum-wise, his are usually at the worst when he is tired, so I've been trying to head those off. The worst of it for us right now is putting his winter coat on every morning!!! Oh, the drama. I can't wait for spring/summer!!! He fights it every single day and just doesn't get that when he opens the door and says "BRRR!!" that means, "put your coat on!!".
Anywho. I don't think he has gotten his 2nd year molars either. I'll have to take a peek, I'm pretty sure that is all he has left though, everything else seems to be in there. So, sounds like it is something to look forward to!
Everyone getting ready for the 2nd birthday? I just sent out Connor's invites this AM. His party is going to be March 10th. If everyone on the invite list comes, we are screwed. lol. We invited 50 people.. praying a good oh, 10-15 won't be able to make it! This is the big "test" year, if it's too overwhelming and crazy, next year we'll go with the two parties and do a family one and a friends one, we tried to combine it this year and I have a feeling we'll be sorry...and this is honestly just family and close friends. It's scary!

I keep thinking we should of just went for it when Connor was about 6 months old, lol. At that point, you don't really *know* what's in store.
No kidding! I was just telling my brother today (who asked when we were going to have a second one) that this age is a really bad time to try to convince DH to have another one! And it's weeks like this that I think I'm crazy too! ;)
I also discovered yesterday that a rash that Evan has is Impetigo. Anyone ever heard of it? I feel bad b/c I had him in playgroup yesterday, took him to his Drs appt and she told me what it was. She said it wasn't contagious, but everything I've read online said it is. Anyway, I'm being cautious and not exposing him to anyone until his antibiotics have kicked in. This might be another thing that added to his charming behavior this week. Luckily he's been great today!
2nd Birthday Ours is March 10th too! We are only inviting about 20 people (maybe 6-8 kids total). We are doing a Train theme and I've got bandanas and conductor hats for all the kids. I just have to find a train cake pan that I like. We are hoping the weather holds out since we want to rent a bouncy house.
Hope everyone has a good weekend. I get to go to dinner with the moms in our playgroup tonight, so I'm looking forward to that!

Birthday[/B We're doing ours on the 17th. Katie, we're also doing a train theme. I found a really cute 3D cake pan on ebay. There were several of them there. We're also inviting about 40-50 people. I think this will be our last "big" party year. Next year, I'm thinking we'll be taking the kids to "Build A Bear" and having dinner for family and friends w/out kids.
#2 I'll be the dissenting opinion here.:) DH keeps saying he's glad that DS is old enough to start doing things for himself before we start trying for another. On other hand, we've always planned to start trying around when DS turns 2, so maybe it just seems to be part of the "plan" to us. Our plan is to start trying this May. I can't believe it's only 3 months away! When DS was born, I kept thinging to would be forever before I'd be pg again.

Hello Everyone - I am back to work after a lovely 4 day weekend. I think it is exactly what I needed.
On Saturday night my DH and I had tickets to see Sara Evans in concert. We took DD to my Sisters house to spend the night. First night she has done an overnight somewhere without us. I was very worried. DH and I went to dinner.... ahhh so lovely to eat dinner without coloring, playing, etc. Then we went to the concert and it was fantastic. After the concert we called my Sister to check in and said she was sleeping away and she was great. No whining no crying and went right down to bed. So we decided to go get coffee and dessert and headed home for our own dessert. ;) So So nice.. We went to pick up DD in the morning and she was happy as can be. My sister said she was an angel. I could not believe it. So at least she did not wear out her welcome and will be able to stay there again. Then on Sunday was DH birthday and we had a little party at his parents house. It was fun but I was eshausted by Sunday night with all the cooking, etc. So Monday I was off and I just vegged it was nice. I needed something to get me out of my funk.
Katie - How is evan and the Impetigo? I have heard of it but not very familar.
Brady - OH my gosh 50 people!!! You will be in my thoughts on that day.
2nd birthday - DD party is going to by on 3/17. It is going to be small. Probably 15- 20 people only. There will only be 3 or so kids and they are all a little older. I am having it at my Sisters house since I can not entertain in our small place. We are also doing the Elmo theme. She loves that thing and says Elmo about 100 times a day. She will also have a party at her Day Care on her actuall b-day on 3/13. I am taking cupcakes and small goody bags for each kid. I am also donating some books to the day care. They do this thing if you have a party to give something to the school to show the kids it is not all about receiving on a special occasion but also giving. I think that is really nice.
I talked about the funk I have been in, I know I really miss being in a house. This apartment is great but the walls and space is closing in. We are still talking over building or buying exsisting. Because of the small town the inventory on homes are low so there isnt much out there on the other hand if we build it would probably take us 6-8 months to get into the house. So we are trying to do our research however we can not do anything until DH gets a job which better be SOON!!!
So that is it for me, sorry to be so long winded. Hope everyone is having a great week.
Take Care
Amy

Amy Glad to hear that you had a great night away, sounds like that was something you really needed. I hope you can figure out your house situation soon. It's hard when you're used to the space and then have to downgrade, even if it's temporary. Maybe more nights are away are what's in order to deal with everything!
Pookie Thanks for the rec on where to find cake pans, I hadn't thought of Ebay!
E's impetigo seems to be almost gone, so he can go to daycare today. He's starting a new one today, so I'm anxious to see how he handles it. Evan is terrible w/ transitions. He will cry and cling to me, although he calms down almost immediately once I'm gone. It's still hard on mama! Plus he is only in daycare once a week, so I think that makes it more challenging for him to get adjusted to the place. I'm wondering if I should put him in for 2 or more days?
Hope everyone has a good week!

Katie - Glad to hear E impetigo is almost gone. Hope his transition goes well at daycare. I agree that him being there only one day is hard for him to be adjusted. In DD day care they have to come a minimum of 2 days a week. They say it is better for them to be adjusted. If you can swing 2 days financially you may want to put him in there to prepare him for preschool when he is 3/4. I know that seems a long time coming but look how quick the kids turned 2. :)
Ladies, what are you guys getting the kids for there birthdays. I feel like we are just getting over the Christmas wrath. I was going through some of her toys on Monday and I really need to box them up or give to charity. However I can not bring myself to do it, I am so damn senimintal. We are not sure what we are getting her. We were thinking a kitchen since the one we got her for Christimas did not work out, but I have no idea really where we would put it.
Take Care Everyone... and Happy Wednesday!!!

Katie Glad to hear the impetigo is on it's way out. I hope the daycare situation improves. We had a really had drop off today so I feel your pain!
cgmom313 Glad you had a nice date night and DD was so good at your sister's! I'm actually living Andy for the first time over night this weekend, but he will be staying with DH!
Birthday gift I just recently organized DS's playroom and I decided that he has way too many toys. I think he is just getting clothes for his birthday and maybe a few small outside toys. He likes to help DH in the garden so maybe a gardening kit or something.
For all you gals doing a train theme for the 2nd birthday I thought I would post this cake from a friend's of ours son's 2nd birthday. The cake was amazing and it was really good too...

Also almost forgot to share the exciting news I have......We found out on Monday we are having our 2nd little BOY!! We are so excited, but I will say I'm still in shock since I really thought this kid was a girl since this pg has been so different then DS's. Now I just need to think about names!!

birthday presents While we were Christmas shopping I ordered this doll set for DD for her birthday too
from jcpenney.com

they have this kitchen on the website too for $39.99, anyone know anything about it? I'm not real happy with the kitchen she got for christmas, it's very small and she can't do a whole lot with it, so we're looking for a good replacement.

Tenny Congratulations on your Boy! How exciting for you! And I love the train cake - that's the kind I'm thinking about. Thank you for posting the picture, that gives me some idea of what I want to do.
Birthday I have no idea. Really, this kid has more than enough toys. I told my mom just to get him books and clothes. What I really want is money for his college fund. I don't know that we are going to get him much this year. The gardening kit sounds like a good idea. I think Target has some cute ones.
Guess who used the potty for the first time yesterday? I was so proud! We have been putting Evan on for a few weeks, but nothing has happened. Then yesterday he peed. I did an enthusiastic song and dance about it and each time we put him on the potty yesterday he went (5 times total)! He did it again this morning. So I think our potty training adventure is beginning...:)
Oh, and he did GREAT at daycare yesterday! I love the woman who watches him and I think this is going to be a much better place for him than the last. Still thinking about 2 days a week though.

Tenny- Congrats on your boy! How exciting!!
Birthday gifts- Honestly, this is going to sound awful, but we are inviting close to 50 people (well, that's with kids, but you get the idea), so we are thinking there are going to be a whole lotta gifts there. I don't think he'll miss anything from us.;) We want to get him some yard type things since we finally have a yard, but we'll wait until after our fence goes up and take it from there. But yeah, people who are asking what he needs, I'm saying spring/summer clothes since he has way too many toys as it is.
Katie- Congrats to Evan on going on the potty! Would he like to come over here to show my son that the potty is not a stool?? lol. Connor just thinks it is a stool and if I ask him if he wants to try to go peepee on it he just says "Noooooooooo". Ay yi yi. NEedless to say, we had to put it away over here for a bit, we'll try again in a few months. Good Luck to you guys though!!

Tenny Congrats on your boy! That train is the same pan we have, I think adding the "caboose" would work really well, too.
Katie DS just goes to PDO once/ week for 3 1/2 hours. I think it took him longer to get use to going, but he LOVES it now. I'm considering adding a second day, but more since I want more errand time than him needing it for adjustment reasons.
Birthday gifts Like you've all said, too much stuff here as well. There are a few more things I want for him, but the grandparents will already be buying him those. I'm sure he'll get a ton as gifts as well. We've just bought him a little fold out couch, so I kind of consider that an early present. We're planning to take him to TRU on his b-day since they give them a ballon and crown and let him pick out a Thomas train from us.

Connor just thinks it is a stool and if I ask him if he wants to try to go peepee on it he just says "Noooooooooo".
Yeah, I bought Evan a musical potty chair a few months ago. He would just use it as a toy - dragged it all over the house, had fun putting all his toys in the bowl so he could hear the chime, etc. I put that one away and then one day when I walked in the bathroom and saw this I decided to try a potty ring: ;)
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o123/katiejohnsonmft/Potty.jpg?t=1172087903
(Yes, he climbed up there all by himself w/ the book! I laughed so hard when I walked in and saw that scene)
The potty ring is what we have been using ever since. I think he likes it because he uses it like mom and dad do.

Tenny - A huge congrats on you boy!!! Love that train cake!!
sunni76- DO NOT BUY THAT KITCHEN. That is the exact same one we bought for DD for Christmas and took it back. It is in a million pieces and it is made of very cheap plastic. My DH and FIL got it halfway put togther (which took almost 2 hours) and the oven door wouldnt close and you look at it the wrong way and pieces would fall off. My FIL said they should give us back more money for having it 1/2 put together. On another note, I love the doll set very cute!!
Brady - I know that C is going to notice that you and your DH did not buy him anything. :p J/K. I agree with 50 people coming to the party he will not know the difference. I am still in awe of your party, I think you may need to sneak a few sips of wine to get through the day!!! :D
Pookie - I like the TRU idea. Hmmm... Might have to do that.
Katie - Yippee for E going to the potty!! I have heard that the rings do work better that the other potty's. Might have to go buy one of those since DD uses her little potty to store her crayone!!!
I agree with others I am going to tell my family to just buy some spring/summer clothes and if they want to buy a toy something like Books or Coloring Books.
So we looked at 2 houses yesterday and can you believe we found one we really like I mean really like. As I stated we go back and forth on building vs buying. Building I think would be so friggin stressful for us and take so long. We thought about buying land and building because this area has very little inventory and when inventory comes up they are small houses. People stay in this area until they die so to speak. So a nice 4 bed 2.5 bath came on the market because the husband was transferred. They started upgrades and have done a great job. The only thing that would need done is the kitchen. I think we could be very happy in this house, the only thing is now getting qualifed for a mortgage if we want to make an offer. With DH not working I think it would be a stretch for me to just qualify with my salary. So we are looking into that. I guess with everything else that has happened to us this past year if it is to be it will happen. I will keep you all updated.
Sorry to be long winded again!!!
Take Care!

sunni76 -I have that kitchen for my DD and it works great, but it is not something that I am planning on keeping forever for her. It is great for her age and everything works great with it, but when we transition her to her BGR we are giving her a smaller version of the PBK pink wooden kitchen. It was a PITA to put together, but DD loves to play with it!
waves -to everyone else! I am at work so I can't post much, but I wanted to say Hi to all!

cgmom313 and chylynn thanks for your opinions on the kitchen! I think we'll pass on that one. Doesn't sound a whole lot better than the one we have. I did find a really nice one on Target.com that is wooden and has great reviews, just not sure if we'll splurge for it at this point.
So far for Macy's b-day list we've told family:
wooden puzzles
tricycle
doll house
other than that the usual, books and clothes!

Chylnn - Good to see ya around!! Hope all is well with you and your family!!
So we are in contract on our house, I can not believe. We gave them an offer and then the counter only a few thousand dollars higher so we took it. They want to close in 30 days... EEKS!!!! Then yesterday my husband was offered a job. Not the greatest hours but to get us in the house we can scarfice our time for a few months until then. It is good money fast just long hours. It must have been fate.
So we are all going out to celebrate tonight!!!
Take Care Everyone and have a good weekend!

CGmom Congrats on the house! We're closing on ours next week.
Birthday Parties So I send out the majority of the invites for Ryan's party. I still have to invite a few friends from our playgroup, but we're looking at just over 50. I already know a few people wouldn't be able to show up, but since we're not in our house yet I'm not sure about space. Our new house is just under 1800 feet with a small backyard. Does that sound doable space-wise or should I start freaking out?
Ryan is mostly over his RSV. His asthma made it alot of fun. He's use to getting out of the house more, so he'll be excited to be able to start seeing other kids again.

Hi everyone! Long time, no talk again.
I can't believe our "babies" are turning two so soon!!!!
Birthday ~ We're just planning something small...with close family and friends. Right now is a really hectic time (trying to work out details of me staying home starting in just a few weeks) so we'll do something at home.
Ilanna is a CRAZY child! hahaha. She's very very very entertaining but she's definitely starting those "terrible two's". Just the other day I had my back turned and when I turned back towards her, she was standing on top of our kitchen table! She scratched our furniture with a toy of hers, says "no" all the time and pretty much ignores any of my instructions to her. But, she is soooo incredibly loving, wants kisses all the time and loves cuddling. So, it makes the hard times much easier :)
I'll catch up with everyone in a bit but I thought I'd just make an appearance to let everyone know I still exist .... :p

Pookie - Oh congrats on your house I remember you mentioning it. I hope the closing goes smooth. I think you can do 50 people in your house as long as it is nice outside and you can use the yard as well. It will help space people out. In Florida we had a 1700 square foot house we had a party once with about 40 people and it was fine.
kenswife - Glad you could pop in!!! I hear ya on the "NO" thing.
So had the inspection on the house and all is fine. No major defects and just a few minor defects so the house has been well taken care off. My DH job is a no go. He went on Monday and really they wanted him to work 12 hour days 6 days a week. It was one of those things he was told one thing and then when he got there he got the real scope from the workers. No biggie!! We can still get the house and he can still look for a job.
So a question to you ladies... DD is still in a crib, but we have been talking moving her to a toddler bed. She is just getting so big and long that she looks a little scrunched in the crib. I would like to re-do a room at the new house with toddler bed, but do you all think that is too much transition? Should we move and keep her in the crib and in a few months mover her up? Thoughts?
Ok that is for me... Hope everyone is doing well.
Take Care!

Pookie-If you live in a climate where you can go outside, I'd say you will be fine! Last year we had almost 40 people in my parents house, no use of the yard and it worked out fine, people just sort of spread throughout the rooms. This year we have our house (which is pretty small sq. footage wise), but I am hoping the adults will sort of stay in the kitchen/living area, and the kids will be down in the playroom basement so it should work out.
Amy- I think I would be hesitant to put her right in the new bed when you move in. If anything, leave her crib set up as well just in case. But, I'd probably let her get use to her new house first, THEN bring in the new bed. But, we haven't dealt with a bed at all yet.. so take that for what it's worth! ;)
Just as an FYI, the thread title is driving me nuts, since all the kids are well past 18 months.. but I can't figure out how to change it! Grr.

Congratulations to all of the potty successes! We have had a few successful potty moments, but nothing truly consistent. We'll get there!
Birthday: We are having a family BBQ party for Aidan on his actual birthday (a Sunday this year) and then we are having a kid party at My-Gym so he can play with his friends. I figure there will be about 15 kids there. I am writing in the invitations that we seriously do not want anyone to bring presents....Aidan has SO MUCH already--toys and clothes.
I am splurging on a present for him, though. Aidan LOVES to read and we have a ton of books--I am talking three 3-shelf bookcases full. When we were playing with his cousins one time, we watched Chicka Chicka ABC on DVD, and Aidan just loved it. Scholastic puts out the DVDs and they are very well done. Amazon is selling a bundle of 27 DVDs--each with a "main" book and another 3-4 stories on them. Aidan loves most of the books they are featuring (Goodnight, Gorilla, Where the Wild Things Are, etc. that I think it will be a great gift with a lot of life. It's pricy, but I think it will be worth it, and we will use them with future children, too.

well, we found out that we are having a BOY!!! I am very excited about another boy!!! :)
Birthday gifts - none from us. No one will be here for DS' birthday (including DH) and he has so much stuff. Most of our relatives send him bonds, so I am sure we will get a few. My Brother and SIL will probably send him gifts. we are traveling to OR this week (our last flight got canceled) and I bought him new toys and books for the plane. So I really don't feel like he needs MORE stuff. Plus, he won't know the difference.
sorry no SO's. I am super tired with DH gone. I need to clean (blah) and clean up from dinner. Hope everyone is well!

Hope you guys have a fun day today. Are u ready for his big party this weekend??

Hope everyone has a great week!!!
Happy Birthday Connor!
Congrats Twainny!
majorgal - thanks for posting those Scholastic DVDs. I might have to put them on JT's list. We don't need toys, but he does get to watch one video after dinner before bed.
potty - we've had some recent and unexpected success here too. JT used the potty once a day for the last 3 days - incl once for poop! He doesn't like his little potty as much as the "big" one, so we need to head off to buy a step stool (so he can stand and "aim") and a ring. I still think it will take a good 6+ months, and have no intention of hurrying. Baby steps...
oh, and funny story - JT climbed into bed with me a couple of nights ago, but DH had taken twin duty all night since I had it while he was travelling. When JT woke up at 6am with me, he looked over at me and apparently decided the babies must be really hungry since I hadn't gotten out of bed all night. He looked at me and said very sternly "feed Ben! Milk! Feed Ben!" (Ben is his generic name for the twins, since it's easier than Julia. It's kinda like the old Bob Newhart show - this is Ben and my other [sister] Ben...)

That's too funny, Amy. Connor does the same type of thing.. all of his little friends, he just calls their mother the same name as them. My one friend has two little girls, Meghan and Emily... Connor can say Meg, so he calls Emily, Meghan and their mother all Meg. lol.

Amy That is too funny, but very cute.:)
Twainny Congrats on the boy.
The movers will be here tomorrow. We've been taking things over every day since last Friday. I can't believe how much work it is to move into a new house. It took DH all weekend to put up blind and fans. When we moved in our condo everything was ready to go. Even all of the color themes already matched.
Ryan's party is next week. We have such a big playgroup and I'm having a hard time (still) deciding who to invite. It's like if I invite this person, then I have to invite this person.

Happy Birthday Ilanna and Evan!!
Twainny Congrats on you little boy!! How exciting!!
Pookie Good luck with the move and the birthday party!!
AmyE The Ben story is too funny! Andy call both our cats Norman (the name of just one of them). I hope Julia doesn't mind being called Ben as she gets older!!
majorgal I'll have too look up those books and DVDs. I'm always looking for some new books for Andy.
Nothing too exciting going on with us. Andy was sick earlier in the week, but is back to his active self. His newest thing is to say "Butt"!! It is too funny in the morning when I get out the shower he will run up to me yelling "Butt, Butt, Butt". I then hurry up and put underwear on and he then he follows me around waving to my butt saying "Bye Bye Butt!" It cracks me up every time!

Just wanted to say Happy Birthday Evan! I can't believe my baby is 2 years old!!!
We are having a small party for him with our playgroup this morning (I should be icing cupcakes right now! ;) ) and just celebrating w/ DH and I tonight. Then our big party is on Saturday. We decided not to invite my playgroup kids since there are about 13 and there are already 7 other kids we are inviting (family/friend kids), and I couldn't imagine dealing w/ 20 kids!
Happy Birthday to Ilanna! I forgot that she and Evan share the same birthday!

AmyE- Congrats on the Potty success, and I laughed so hard on the Ben story. I loved the Bob Newhart show!!! Too Funny!!!
Pookie- congrats on the move, I hope you are getting settled in ok!!!
Tenny - Love the butt story... Isnt it amazing the things that come out of there mouths. My DD favorite word at times is fart. Lovely isn't it.
Katie - I hope the playgroup party went well.
Happy Friday Ladies!!! I am so happy because it is Friday and I am on vacation all next week. Yippee!!! We also got good news that we are getting to close on our new house sooner than we thought. They have told us we will either close next Tues or Wed. I am so excited. That is about a week and half earlier than we thought. So I have started to make lists of things to do next week. I also need to get prepared for DD b-day party as well. So I will be off but very busy.

Happy Birthday Ilanna and Evan !
Can't believe our kiddos are turning 2! So strange to think back to 2 years ago, I was already in the hospital on bedrest and thought it would take forever and it really only was such a short time.
We converted DS's crib into a bed. He's slept in it a few times. The baby gate is up at his door. Last night he kept taking his sleeper and diaper off and throwing them over the fence, so he ended up in the PNP in the guest room.

I can not believe 2 years ago today I gave birth to my darling Catherine!!! Let's just say darling most of the time except the when she is screaming like a banche for something she cant have.. We had a great day today. We closed on our house. I am beyond excited, and then we went over to the grandparents and had pizza and a small cake to celebrate. We are having her real party on Sat with everyone but it was really nice. So we are just planning out the next 2 weeks to get the house stuff done and be moved in by the end of the month. Ahhh... It will be so nice to be finally settled in somewhere. It has been a long journey but so worth it.
It was also 70 out today and beautiful but it suppose to be back in the 30's this weekend!! Blah!!!
Well hope everyone has a great week!!

Happy Birthday today, Catherine! and Happy Birthday Hayden!!
I am with Katie on this one.. we had a great party(ies) on Saturday, but I was wiped on Sunday!! I loved Evan's cake, Katie.
For Connor's we had the Elmo theme going, I didn't take a lot of pictures (bad mommy!).. but here are a few:
I had the kids decorate their own cupcakes for the Happy Birthday song, so he just got a candle in his cupcake:
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a190/lisaro/happybirthday.jpg
This was the cupcake tree for the parents to pick off of...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a190/lisaro/IMG_0916.jpg
ANd then for the family party that night, my husband drew Elmo on this cake:
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a190/lisaro/IMG_0914.jpg
And this is why you don't have two parties in one day...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a190/lisaro/IMG_0946.jpg
;) He was so wound up from the party with his friends that he wouldn't nap when it was over, we bundled him up to take him outside hoping he'd sleep in the stroller, but he never made it outside, he ended up falling asleep sitting up on the couch.
L.
ETA- Congrats Amy! on your new house! I hear you on the weather, I am loving it! I think we are going to skip Gymboree today and play outside, since like you said- this warm weather may be fleeting!

Your DH did a great job on your Elmo cake, I'm impressed!
Thanks for the compliments on the cake - I am a baker, but definitely not a decorator! ;)
Amy- yea! on closing on your house!
I can't remember - are you having a theme for Catherine's birthday party? I hope you have a great time celebrating.
Oh, and the weather here is fabulous too! I'm loving it! Not that we've had much of a winter anyways, but it's still great.

Happy Birthday to all of the Kiddos!
Ryan's b-day was yesterday. My computer wasn't cooperating, so I wasn't able to post. We took him to the park, McDonald's and to Toys R Us and let him pick out a train. We're also taking him to "Day Out with Thomas" when it comes to our state. The IL's are on their way into town and we have his party tomorrow. I can't believe we are the parents of 2 y/o!
We've been having him sleep in his PNP, but once we finish babyproofing his new room, he'll start sleeping in his bed again. He had his 2 year WCV today. Ped said just to let him fall asleep wherever, eventually the novelty will wear off.

Happy Birthday to everyone I have missed over the last week or so!!!
Brady - Looks like a great party. We also did Elmo theme. That cake is great. I would have never tried to do that myself.
We had DD party on Saturday and it was great. It was cold/snowing so noone got to go outside but it still was fun. However she did get an Elmo bubble blower and of course she had to have it worked so we did all get budled up and went on my Sisters deck to watch it. My DD got a raincoat and rain boots and wanted to try them on so it worked out well to go outside for 10 or so minutes. Of course she had a breakdown because we had to come back inside. I took pictures but I need to load them to something other than shutterfly so you guys can see them. Hope to do that in the next few days.
So now we are in full getting the new house ready to move mode. I am back to work this week and DH is painting and starting to move boxes to the other house. Our goal would be to be in within the next 2 weeks. I wish I could just take off the rest of the month but I am sure my boss would not quite go for that. :p
Hope everyone has a good week!!!
Amy
