Any advice? Suddenly my DS wants to sit up, roll over and crawl off the changing table. He cries hysterically when I lay him down to change his diaper! He also squirms, kicks and tries to grab his diaper or anything on the table. I give him toys to hold and usually he tosses them on the floor. I sing, whistle and hum. I tell him "no" or "lay down for mommy". No luck. Today I had to put him on the floor to change him, and he still tried to crawl away, but at least there was no risk of him falling. He's 10 mos. old. Any suggestions? What's a mom to do?
Thanks!

DD is 10 months old and is the same way. I don't have any suggestions but am interested to hear of any recommendations ;)

yeah, once they get moving around they hate to sit still - it's awful! personally i never moved DD onto the floor (she is 13 mos) b/c she would fight even harder to get away. i think there was a thread on this a while back but i couldnt find it - only found this one. I used to just give her things to fiddle with that i normally wouldn't let her touch, like the nail clippers or something. good luck, it is a challenge but after a few months it gets a little bit easier (but she still does not ever just sit there happily being changed, except for the one right at bedtime b/c she is tired).

DS will be 13 months this week. He does best on the changing table. I keep a basket near the changing table and give him things to play with that he doesn't normally get and that helps a ton. I also sing, play peek a boo, make funny faces, etc. Whatever it takes. I absolutely cannot change him on the floor as he always gets aways from me. It's like wrestling an alligator.

As soon as DS began wrestling me, I started to only change him on the floor. I figured its safer!
I sit on the floor with my legs in a V, and lay DS down between my legs 'vertically' so his legs are towards me and head away. My legs kind of wall him in, so unless he rolls OVER them he can't go too far.
I can usually hold his 2 ankles in one hand allowing his knees to bend, and do the cleaning up one-handed. This usually prevents him from rolling over, too.
Also, he find the wipes case enthralling. I will give him a wipe to play with or the case to pull them out of, and it normally keeps him entertained.

DD is 14 months this week and she has been like that for a couple months now but she is getting a little better - I make a game out dressing her.. one arm in - oh no where is your other arm.. there it is.. & then the legs same thing..she giggles now and it is help
when its diaper changing time I just make sure everything is prepped and try to go as fast as possible - she is usually only quiet for the morning change since she is still sleepy

My DD did the same thing at that age, but I also couldn't change her on the floor because she would just crawl away. I also recommed giving things that they wouldn't normally get to have. DD loves the A&D tube. Nail clippers, brushes, empty medicine bottles, anything they can chew on. My DD is a bit older, but now she loves to "read" a book while I change her diaper. And definitely try to make a game out of it getting dressed, that helped a lot too.

I usually change her on the couch - I give her another clean diaper to play with, or a small book, and she generally lays still just long enough. For a messy diaper, she gets to pull wipes out of the box, too.
Once, I had her on the floor, and put my leg over her chest. It worked great and so easy, even though she screamed her head off.
Dressing her now is like wrestling a fish, but at least she laughs the whole time.
