Does anyone else find this as sad as I do?? The last of the "group" is calling it quits. :( I really, really hope that he can pull out one last major victory! His first two matches have been incredible!
I have always loved Andre and used to have posters of him all over my room. I remember when he cut all his hair off. My dad woke me up by showing me the newspaper and I almost cried! :o
Anyway, I thought it was *really* cool that James Blake paid homage to Andre yesterday by wearing retro "Andre attire."

Also, here's a link to a photo albulm of Agassi over the years. Pretty funny and took me way back. :)

I'm not sad because I've seen so many athletes I like retire. I'm just so happy that he's having some amazing matches. It would have been sad if he was ousted in Round 1. It is a little sad to see him in so much physical pain.

The Baghdatis match was the first one I've watched in years- made me remember why I love the game!

A class act all the way--I will certainly miss watching him play.

I didn't get to watch the match this afternoon but I did TiVo it. I told Mark that I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch or not b/c I'd probably cry at the end. Just looking at that last picture put tears in my eyes. It's aways so emotional when a great athlete finally calls it quits. I will definitely miss watching him.
eta: I just watched the ending of the match. What an incredible, emotional farewell. And, even though I was prepared...I still cried! :o

Let's see...I cried when he made the announcement he was retiring. I cried when he lost at Wimbledon and I cried when he lost today. I adore that man! I think he is truly an amazing person - both on the court, and especially off. I think so many of the professional athletes of today could really learn something about class by looking to Andre for inspiration. He seems to be the antithesis of the spoiled, it's-all-about-me pro athletes so prevelant in the sports world today. I will miss watching him play but I know we haven't heard the last from him either...:D
anyone watch the federer/blake match yesterday? it was awesome (well, except for the second set).
i think its going to end up being roddick and federer in the final.
