View Full Version : How much is/was your bouquet?

I just got the proposal from my florist, and I'm a bit flabbergasted by the cost of my bouquet - $300! It isn't a large bouquet, I'm not in a very expensive market and the flowers are not out of season. I can't fathom why it's so expensive, expecially when the fancy floral designers have bouquets in magazines are usually not even that much.

So how much did/will your professionally created bouquet cost?

I went with a fairly inexpensive florist for the area, and my bouquet was $100. I expect it would've been more expensive at other places - but not $300. Have you gotten other quotes?

No, no other quotes. Our wedding is next weekend. I gave the florist an overall budget (which she went over by about $100). When we unexpectedly had one less table (thus one less centerpiece) than anticipated, I figured we would be under enough to add some flowers to the cake or something, but no, we're over.

$150 for a smallish, classic, lily of the valley bouquet

About $100--approx 2 dozen black magic roses, tightly clustered and hand tied.

If I remember correctly, I think mine was about $90 for a med. sized bouquet - it was cut flowers tied with ribbon.

I believe my bouquet was $85, we went with a new and inexpensive florist. The total bill was around $450 for my bouquet, 7 BM bouquets, 2 nosegays for the Mom's, 8 bouts, 1 flower girl basket, 1 toss bouquet and cake flowers

My bouquet:

What sort of bouquet did you ask for?

that seems like A LOT.

That seems pretty expensive.
My total floral cost was $300 for my bouquet, 4 BM bouquets, 2 usher bouts, 1 groom bout, 1 mother corsage, 1 grandma corsage, and 3 large buffet table arrangements.
I think my bouquet was $125, and it had 6 different flowers, and 2 of which were out of season.
I'd start looking for other quotes stat, especially since your wedding is next weekend!

The florist already has the money, so looking elsewhere isn't going to do much good. We booked her months and months ago.

ETA: The bouquet is just several kinds of white/blush roses and some spray roses. Not a large bouquet at all.

what kind of flowers are you using?

AAhhh...well....

All things considered, if you're only over your overall budget by 100 bucks, then thats not so bad really.
I'd be pretty miffed if it was like 500 over, but I'm sure you're flowers will look amazing!
You've got a week to go Nicole, stop stressing! Relax, enjoy this time! ;)

Seems really high:eek:

My bouquet was about $150-$175. There were about forty roses - three different colors.

My bouquet was $100.

It included three different kinds of red roses, dahlias and coffee berries. The stems were wrapped in satin. It was fairly petite in size.

I do think $300 is high for a bouquet, but at this point I would not worry about it. It's not putting you hugely overbudget and you definitely don't need to be stressing about this with one week left to go. SO EXCITING!! :D

There could be a few factors driving up the cost of the bouquet - is it hand-tied, or will the flowers be wired into an oasis? The amount of labor involved could be higher in the second case. Also, the varieties of roses, if not common ones, may cost your florist more to bring in. However, that's something she should have discussed with you up front...a good florist, IMO, will give you options for different kinds of flowers that will achieve a similar look. The overall size of the bouquet could come into play too - some brides want really big bouquets - do you know how many (approximately) roses are supposed to be in your bouquet?

Edited to say: Duh! I swear, I read your post before I responded, but in few minutes it took me to read other responses and type my own, I forgot pretty much everything. I think I'm suffering from early onset mental-pause. ;) So disregard the question about size.

Mine is 140 for (MOSTLY) roses, a few gerbers, some other fallish business and hypericum berries. Can you tell that flowers were NOT my main concern???

I don't remember the exact cost of mine, but it was under $100. It was a bunch of white roses assembled into a plastic device that I could stick into the vase at my parents' gravesite after the wedding. I had a different throwing bouquet.

Mine was around $150 I think. But since my mom did my bouquet we didn't have to pay labor on that just the rest of the flowers.

Wow! $300 seems like a lot!

I paid $136 for my bouquet, bm bouquet, 4 bouts and 2 corsages - all cala lilies.

My bouquet was $50 (4 white calas, 3 green goddess calas wrapped with banana leaf)

Pretty simple and small.

That does seem high. Mine was $75 and my BMs were $35 each. I had dark red roses and sunflowers, and the BMs each had different bouquets for their different dress colors.

My actual bouquet and toss bouquet were $75 altogether, but I made them myself, so I only had to pay for the flowers. They weren't particularly labor-intensive, though. It probably took me 45 minutes to make both of them. They were exactly the same, only the toss bouquet was about half the size, and they were made of alstroemeria, roses, stargazers, asiatic lilies, and sunflowers.

Thank you all so much for the info! I'm glad to know that I'm not crazy and that my florist might be!

I got her down to $200, and this is how the bouquet turned out

My bouquet was approx. $200. All roses (2 dozen).
My BM's were $100 (1 dozen)
Bouts were $30 (1 rose)

Hmm.. I think my bouquet was about $150, I had 3-4 dozen roses in an antique silver holder with the diamond accent thingys. My BM's were about $30-50, they had about 18-24 roses.
The bouts were fairly cheap and consisted of a rose. I think $10-15.
I also had bouquets made for my mom and MIL. They were smaller versions of the bridesmaid's, and were $10-15. We also had flowers at the church.

Total cost for my flowers: $500.

And they were sooo beautiful! :)
