Welcome, Mamas!
Please take a moment to look over your information in the first few posts to make sure it is correct. When checking in with the new thread, please check in with this new information (if you'd like to!):

1) Update your Gender Predictions! It'll be fun to see if women's intuition holds true.
2) Let us know what Team you'd like to be a member of.

Team Blue = Having a boy
Team Pink = Having a girl
Team Green = Having a surprise
Team Yellow = Don't know the gender yet.

Alright, I'm trying to resize my u/s.

I'm not on the due date list on the front page. I also have appts on 9/29 and 10/9 for a fetal echo! Thanks!

Updated to here!

There must be a couple of people who aren't listed in the due dates section. I count 20 people who have due dates, and there are 27 mamas on the roster (weird). I could theoretically figure out who isn't there, but if you all could check info on the first page and make sure it's correct, that'd be great!

Thanks for starting the new thread. Glad we are all heading out of the 1st trimester. We can leave most of the tired/sick/worried behind us! I know I have been feeling better the last few days. I still have moments, but at least it isn't all day long anymore.

Not much going on. I need to get my 20wk scheduled soon. I think the perinatal that I have to go to is really busy and hard to get appointments with. Other than that, my DD's 1st birthday is coming up in a few more weeks, so we have that party planning to do.

Take care everyone.

I can't believe that the past 13 weeks have flown by!! One nice thing is that the MS if finally gone, but the tight clothes are getting to me.

I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend and as always be safe!! I will check back in once I get back from our cruise. Keep your fingers crossed that we have nice weather in The Caribbean!!

One last thing -> my next appointment is Monday September 11, 2006 and we should be able to hear the heartbeat!! :D :D :D

Thank you for the new thread & congratulations to all of us on the second trimester!!!

danalou~ Have a great time on your cruise!! A few years ago we took a cruise when a hurricane hit (Hugo I think) and the ship just went around it. We missed Grand Caymen, but stopped somewhere else in Mexico. If they weren't updating us on the hurricane I honestly would have had no idea it was going on. We had beautiful weather and the seas were fine. Have a fantastic time!!!

My next apt is October 2. Also, under my stats can you change my due date to the 13? Thanks so much!!!

I have a gender prediction for my baby- I think it's going to be a boy. I've been having dreams all along that it's a boy and the pictures of the face from the 12w ultrasound just kind of look boyish to me for some reason. I don't know if I'm just imagining it because I want a baby girl SO badly and maybe my mind is getting me ready for he possibility that it could be a boy or if there's actually something to it though.

I've got to get DH to download the belly pictures from the camera onto our computer so I can post them here. I have one from every week starting with week 5:p

Have a great long weekend everyone!!

I can honestly say there is NO WAY I am posting a belly shot for a long time. All of you guys have these cute tummy's with this little bump. I'm not an overweight person, but my tummy is huge! I look like I'm 6 months pg. I don't know if it because it's a second pg or just the way I'm made, but I would be embarrased by how huge I am. Am I the only one?????

Janey

Brink - I look like I've swallowed a freaking balloon! No kidding. So no - you are not alone at all! I started the pregnancy 30 lbs. higher than my goal weight. I am also short, and short-waisted with narrow hips -- no place for the uterus to go but OUT. Just yesterday I was walking downtown and noticed how freaking HUGE my belly was getting. I've really popped this week. I've also gained 3 lbs in 2 days. I sincerely hope that's a fluke of the scale.

I'm going to wait until after this weekend to post a shot cause I have a progression of weeks 6/9/12 that I'm doing. I'll add week 15 to that and post it. Maybe after that you'll feel better about posting your shots. :)

oh, brink....i'm wanting to post pics, because "I HAVE PREGGO BELLY, NOT FAT BELLY!" but i'm way toooo embarrased that it looks like fat belly....

gender prediction: Boy...why? Because I'd like a girl so much that I can't set myself up for disappointment. God help me...I'll adore having another little boy, I love boys to death...but I'd love some pink in my life.

My gender prediction is that we're having a boy and a girl, based upon the h/b and "mother's intuition" :D However, we're firmly on Team green until they are born.

Brink - Thanks for thinking I only have a little bump :D Honestly, people can already tell that I'm pregnant, so I think you should post your tummy. It can't be any bigger than mine ;)

Can I just say how envious I am of those of you who are actually *in* the second trimester now? I still have another two-three weeks of this before I can start feeling better/less worried. Of course that didn't stop me from telling everyone at work today :o

I discovered last night that I'm done pushing grocery carts for at least the next 30 weeks. Mom and I went shopping, and usually she pushes my cart for me. Well, last night neither of us were thinking, and she had shopping to do herself, so I just grabbed a cart. By the time I hit the checkout I could barely walk from pushing a full cart! I'm thinking round ligament pain has found me already. Wow, was it ever painful. Today's a little better, but I think it's time to invest in a pair of flats that aren't tennis shoes or sandals. Don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to do high heels (which, dummy me, not thinking, I wore grocery shopping last night! Yeah, and I wonder why I hurt  )

Tomorrow I will be in the second tri!

I had a dr appt today and it took 20 minutes, two nurses, and two different dopplers to find the heartbeat. I was near panic. They weren't looking in the right spot, even though I told them where they found it last time, and it was the same area. Oh well. It was 148. :)

I have another appt. scheduled for Sept. 29. I will get the triple screen blood test then.

Also, I *may* have felt the baby move. After I left the dr, I felt something weird in the spot where they heard the heart.

Shimmerstar- I'll be in the second tri with you tomorrow too!! Well, if you go by ultrasound date...

I went looking around Motherhood Maternity today with my son and that was disasterous. Needless to say, I have to go back to really look. I have no idea what I was thinking taking him in there with me. He kept trying to steal the bras and redistribute the pantyhose. Ugh. 2 years and shopping stinks....but it makes a good reason to dump him with daddy one day and go shopping with my mom!

I cannot believe how much I have popped this week! Seriously, over the last 4 days I have noticed a huge difference. Luckily, I have worked all week and been in scrubs so I haven't tried any of my jeans on - that will be scary! We are going to Miami next week and none of my swimsuits fit me anymore (the boobs) so I have to buy a new one this weekend.

My official due date is March 8, so you can take off march 3. My gender prediction is boy and my next appt is Sept. 25

shimmerstart - That probably was the baby that you felt:D

Absolutely LOVING all the u/s pics and belly shots. And *sigh* I too am super jealous of all the cute baby bellies. I think I may be brave enough to post mine later on.

Don't give up hope yet! I really wanted a girl for my first. The first dream I had I was getting ready to leave the hospital and it was a boy with LOTS of hair. (I had another dream later on and it was a girl, but that was after we already knew) Obviously I had a girl, and she did have a little hair, but not like the boy had in my dream. This time i had a dream it was a girl, and I'm hoping for boy. We'll see if the dream is wrong this time as well.

I've felt the baby kick about 3 seperate times now, the first time being about a week ago. I never have felt the fluttering/fish bubble type movements everybody's been talking about this pregnancy or next. I think that's why it took so long for me to feel the baby move last time because I kept waiting for a fluttering, and only got thumps. Dh really wants to feel him move, but obviously it's too early now.

Dh got a 2nd job so now he's working even more hours than he was before:cool: I feel bad that he has 2 jobs and I don't have any but his income earnign and potential is so much greater than mine it doesn't make sense for me to work and he's the one who screwed up the checking accounts so in all fairness he should be the one to fix them. I have told him though that I do not want him working 2 jobs when #2 comes. I think I'll go insane.

Sorry I have been so out of touch lately. I started back at work last Monday and this Tuesday is when the students come in for the first day. AGH. Anyway, I am going to be joining team green. I am feeling pretty awful today...very nauseous and VERY dizzy. Did anyone else feel dizzy? I felt this early on in the pg., but then it went away. Today I am awful. Finding it hard to see straight. It is very frustrating. I lose my balance when I am walking and I feel dizzy even when sitting down. I hope that it goes away very soon, as I have to stand in front of the classroom on Tuesday. :( Anyway, my next appt. is September 25th. Not sure what they will be doing at this appt., but I will be at 13 1/2 weeks and can't wait for this 1st trimester to be over. WAY over. I hope everyone is doing well. I will try and post more often, but once school starts it might be difficult. :(

ieducate...I don't want to cause alarm where there may be no alarm needed but I had rememberd reading about dizzyness and vision problems in a couple of my books. I went back and reread it and I'd recomend calling your Dr. For dizzyness and faintness it said to call the same day. For vision problems it said to call immediately. Being a Saturday puts a damper on getting ahold of your Dr but I'm sure they have a triage nurse set up at your Dr's office. Or I know most health insurance companies offer a 24 hour nurse line who will answer any questions and recomend either visiting the ER or something else.
Again....I'm sorry to cause alarm but I had just read this the other night. I hope everything is ok!!!!

Edited to add I read more in my book and although a dizzy spell can happen (from standing up to fast, being overheated, etc) it seems your dizzy constantly? That would concern me more.

I am surprised at how many we have on Team Green, honestly!!! I am trying to pull out of Team Green, but my husband won't let me. haha

I think I felt the baby move a few weeks ago (I know that's early, but I either really did feel him/her move or I was dreaming it). It was just a flutter feeling, like I was really nervous. It was an awesome feeling, though! :)

My mom and I went shopping today. I found some cute tops at Kmart and then she bought us a pack n' play and two baby gates. When we got home, my brother and FSIL had a gift for us too- KSU wildcat bib, hat, and socks. Too cute! I found the car seat/stroller that I like, but I have to wait and see if it's a girl, because I really like the pink one.

We also let the names slip out at a tailgate yesterday, but everyone really liked them.

My mom bought a little dress with a jean skirt today "just in case it's a girl". Pretty much guaranteeing it won't be, but we can give it to my cousin if it's a boy.

I can't believe I'll officially be in the 2nd trimester tomorrow- the time has really flown by!

My boobs and the area below my belly button have gotten SO much bigger over the last week or 2. I wish my belly would even out or something- it just looks like I have a major pot belly. Very strange.

My parents had a party over the weekend with my mom's side of the family and it turns out that my mom's younger sister and her husband are adpoting a baby girl from China sometime this fall. She's about 49 and he's in his early 50's and they already have 6 kids, so it's pretty random. It seems SO odd that I'll be having a baby at around the same time as them.

Is anyone else going on a last-trip-before-baby? DH and I usually like to go on more adventurous/off the beaten track kind of vacations and we were actually planning a trip on the trans-siberian railroad (Beijing to Moscow)when we found out I was pregnant. That would be a bit too strenuous for me at this point, so we just booked the first week in Nov for a trip to Spain instead. We'll be spending a day or 2 in Madrid and then the rest of the time in Andalucia in southern Spain. I'm excitied! My parents also booked a last-family-trip-before-baby including us, them, and my sister and her boyfriend. We'll be going up to Mt Tremblant in Quebec for 5 days at the beginning of Oct for some leaf peaping, golfing, spa-ing, etc. It should be nice and relaxing:)

goldengbridge - I'll be thinking about your son & family!

Re: Babymoon - We have a couple of trips planned. This coming weekend we are going up to the San Juan Islands for 5 days. B needs a vacation really badly, and I need some Quality Time with my husband. It's been crunch-time at work for the last 4 weeks (he is an Architect and project manager on a $34M high school that they just sent the bid set out for) and desperately needs some time off to de-scramble his brains.

In late October, we're taking 9 days and going to Arizona. This trip will be split between northern arizona and the Grand Canyon, and Southern AZ and his dad & step-mom's house. We hardly ever see them, and think they'll enjoy seeing me pregnant. I hope the baby wiggles around so they can feel it while we're down there. :)

Betsy - Spain & Quebec both sound wonderful! I hope you'll give us a link to your photos when you're back. :)

Since I hit 15 weeks, I decided to post my belly shot. I stuck it on the belly shots page, but put it here too so that others with less-than-perfect bodies won't feel so bad about posting. ;) With clothes on, I just look fat(ter). I'll be glad in another few weeks for fall temperatures to be here so I can wear more maternity-looking shirts and actually look pregnant!

GoldenGate - I am thinking of you and your family today. I hope everything goes perfect with your son's surgery. Please post and let us know everthing is ok.

Babymoon - we haven't talked about one. This is our second, so I doubt we will really do anything. Before our first, we went to England and Alaska. It was great to get away when it was just the two of us.

MrsHill - thanks for sharing your bellyshots. Thanks everyone else for the support on the "not so perfect" bodies. Someday I'll actually snap a photo of this belly - I just still can't bring myself to do it. Somehow, I feel like I have to hide it until I'm 6 months. Then I'll feel like I can proudly show it off (silly, I know).

Chest Pain - anyone else having chest pain? When I lay down at night, it hurts so bad. I remember this from last time, but it was a lot further along in my pg. It's not heartburn (I've had enough of that to know the difference). This feels like a 50lb weight sitting in the middle of my chest. If I sit up in bed, it takes about 15 minutes for it to go away. When I lay back down, it comes back. I think everything is starting to push it's way up, but it just seems way to soon for all that to be happening.

A trip would be awesome!!!! But we went to Hawaii in March so we're not doing anything big. We have a big trip planned to MN in November for Thanksgiving. Other than that maybe a weekend in San Antonio or something.

goldenbridge - will be thinking of you and your family!

junk - how are you?? I have been thinking about you and bummed I didn't get to see you before your move. I hope all is well :)

Babymoon - we are going to Miami towards the end of this week, I am going to Mexico (girls trip) at the end of this month and then we will take a trip in December. We would like to go international before the baby comes but the most we can get away for is 5 days which makes it difficult.

Babymoon - I would love to, but we only take one vacation a year in which we actually leave the house, at it's in April to celebrate our anniversary. So we're planning a Post-Babymoon sometime around May/early June and taking the twinners with us. Should be lots of fun ;)

Goldenbridge - Good luck with the surgery tomorrow, and I'll be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

MrsHill - I think you look fantastic. It's really hard to post pictures of our bellies when we're so used to keeping them hidden since they're not "rock hard" ;)

MarriedaGoalie - Such a cute little belly you have! Definitely starting to look pregnant :D

**************************

Had my regular OB appt. today. I've had some issues with my Dr. in the past when he essentially mocked me for seeing an acupuncturist and massage therapist, but for the most part I don't have a problem with him.

So I've been getting a lot of flack from family members (except DH, who knows better), about this book that I read concerning twin pregnancies by Dr. Barbara Luke. She says that I should be gaining a 1 to 1 1/4 pounds a week, and by 10 weeks I should have gained 10-13 pounds. With twins it's important that the majority of weight is gained before 28 weeks since after that point you can't consume enough to sustain the two babies. Plus it helps with the birth weight of the babies, and prolonging the pregnancy to avoid preterm labor.

Anyway, I'm now at 7 pounds gained total - up four from two weeks ago when I last saw my Dr. He starts giving me grief about gaining too much weight and how I need to slow down - totally ignoring the fact that I've only gained seven pounds since the beginning of July!

And then the clincher - he asked if I was going to BF, and after I said yes, he starts getting all negative about how difficult it was going to be for me, both physically and emotionally, and I might want to reconsider that and go for formula. Um, no! I told him that it was really important for me that I BF, and I was going to at least give it a shot.

So needless to say, I was a little pissed leaving my OB appt. today. And it didn't help that he spent maybe a total of a minute and half trying to find the babies h/b on the doppler before he gave up and declared them too small to hear yet.

I don't know. Maybe I'm just too used to seeing specialists who actually support me and the decisions that I make, it just seems like my OB shouldn't be forcing his ideas upon me. I can only imagine what the birth is going to be like if we end up being able to go vaginally.

Tandis - your doc sounds kinda like a jerk. Do you have to stay with him? I would switch docs to someone that is supportive and that you respect. Delivery is one time that you don't want someone around that is sure to annoy you.

I just made my appointment for my 20 wk. It is October 25th. I can't wait for that one as we will find out if it is a boy or a girl!

Tandis...sorry you had a crappy appt today. I don't think 7 pounds is much at all. I had a friend gain 30 in her first trimester! Now that is A LOT!

I signed up with my insurance maternity program. I'm on a HRA so I have a health fund (which is basically free money to go towards health costs). I get $1000 a year to spend that my company funds, I have about $200 left. After I go through that amount I pay my deductible and then I have coinsurance. Anyhow...by signing up with the program they send me a bunch of stuff and asign me my personal nurse there who tracks me and calls me. I get $100 in my account for signing up and when I have the baby I get another $200. That's free money baby! Maybe enough to cover the circumsision if we have a boy :D

Hah - not only that, but I used to weigh 246 lbs, and so I'm all stretch-marked from that. And then I lost 100 lbs, and had a tummy tuck in which they took out my belly-button and put it back in, so I'm scarred from that (you can kind of see the scar in my 9w photo). So my belly is sooooo not attractive. But whatever.

Your doctor sounds horrible. I'd look into changing if I were you. Too many "strikes" against him! :/

How rude of your doctor. Of course, my doctor and I are butting heads too right now so I understand a bit. Anyway, breastfeeding is what I wanted to mention to you. It is a hard thing to do with even a singleton, but I can't imagine it wouldn't work for twins. So you just keep it in your head that you are doing it and go for it. I do want to suggest that you hook up NOW with either the LaLecheLeague and/or a lactation consultant that has the initials IBCLC after her name. They are more highly trained than the hospital nurses, TRUST me, although some may be hospital nurses. You never know. I would talk to them now, find out what you may need to do ahead of time (ie have a pump, or supplemental feeder or whatever) and make sure that you talk to twin moms who have breastfeed. Maybe mothering.com would have some that can support you if things get rough. And file this away in your memory...the first six weeks of nursing is very time consuming and almost 'hard' but fixing bottles isn't fun either-especially times 2...and for that reason, if I were you (don't you love that saying?!) I'd breastfeed twins over bottle feeding them. The nipple is always clean, the 'formula' already made and the right temp, and there is no clean up!!

Hi Ladies:

Haven't posted in a while but I am busy with my DD and looking for a job. How much does that suck being 13 weeks pregnant with an 8 1/2 month old baby and looking for a job. But here in Canada if you work 600 hours the government will pay 55% of your paycheck to you for a full year to go on mat leave and I just can't give that up. I'm still on mat leave with DD but since we have since moved since having her, I can't return to my old job and am stuck looking for a new one. It really sucks because I am applying for all these great jobs but I know that I won't be staying long (which I am fine with because I want to be a SAHM) and I don't look forward to telling the people that hire me that I will only be with them until March. Oh well, you have to do what you have to do.

Threadmistress: Can you please change my DD's age. I guess it would just be easier to put in her birthdate of December 11, 2005. Also, my EDD is currently March 13 but that is not the official date yet. Hoping to find out my official due date at my next appoinment. Also, my gender prediction is boy since this pregnancy is completely opposite from DD's!

To the Repeat Offenders who are BFing: Just wondering how your supply is? The reason that I am asking is because I have completely lost mine. I have been exclusivly breast feeding since day one and when I got pregnant Sophie started rejecting the breast and my supply just plummeted. I had to supplement with formula (tried pumping but to no avail...couldn't even get an ounce!) and now I have to formula feed full time. I'm a bit disappointed because I really wanted to bf for as long as I could but feel a bit better knowing the Sophie led the weaning process and wasn't forced. But I am just curious as to how you other RO's are doing with it.

Orion: I bf'd DS until recently. I had to wean him sort of to his dislike (he still asks and i have to say no) because the pain was too much and it just didn't feel 'right'. But, I felt my supply has died out because it takes a LOT to express any and I've had NO problems dropping from 3 or 4 sessions to zero in two weeks. So I don't think he was getting much anyway. It is ashame that you had to wean so quickly/early, but that's why there is formula. :) And she'll be on regular milk soon anyhow.

orion ~ I'm at 10 1/2 weeks, and I feel my supply dipping. I'm only nursing 3 times a day... on wake up and before nap/bedtime... but I think our days are definitely numbered, which totally sucks since I don't know how else I'm gonna get this kid to sleep... Good luck on the job hunt...

goldengbridge ~ You and your son are in my thoughts...praying for a speedy recovery and a successful operation!!

Tandis ~ I agree... your dr sucks. I'd switch..youre still early enough that it shouldn't make a difference, although I know people have switched as late as 35-38 weeks... AND, I don't remember who, but I am pretty sure there are a few bf's of twins on cc ... (i KNOW there's at least one). Check out the breastfeeding thread - not sure if she's still posting, but maybe post asking if she's around? (She had her twins a few months after I had Nic (5/05) and I remember being so in awe...)

goldenbridge ~ your family is in my thoughts and prayers!

Tandis~ I agree, I think you should find a new Dr. This one doesn't seem to be on the same page as you at all! Sure it may be difficult, but a Dr should at least support you and help you get the knowledge to make it as easy as possible. What Dr would suggest you not bf???

Babymoon~ I'm going on one, but unfortunately w/o DH. I leave for Cabo one week from tomorrow for my step sisters wedding. I'm really hoping we can take one together, but it will be tricky since the store will be opening by October 1st. Even if we just go to Florida for a long weekend (we have a free place to stay too) it would really be nice.

We had our appointment yesterday. Here is the ultrasound - notice anything strange???????

http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m65/Brink_06/Newbabies/ultrasound9-6.jpg

Yep - TWINS!!!!!

We already had one u/s where there was only one h/b. I guess one was hiding behind the other. I have to go to a specialist in the next week or two (trying to get an appt now). My ob thinks they are identical and therefore in the same sac. Makes me high risk. They also need to see if they are sharing one placenta. If so, they could have issues later with one taking more nutrients than the other. So, once we confirm if they are in the same sac, that will determine if I am "high risk" or not. We are still pretty stunned - neither of us has twins on our family history!!!!!!

Brink ~ Wow, yeah that would freak me out too, hope you didnt have your heart set on just two.....because that aint happening now ;)! Congrats!!

Tandis ~ I agree I would see a new doctor one who can put there personal biases aside and support their patient regardless of their decision.

Babymoon ~ um probably not, my husband thinks the end of the world is coming financially and when they say it cost 250K to raise a child hes acting like they are going to ask for one lump sum payment up front....HAHAHAHA whats even worse is our insurance pays 100% for the entire pregnancy, well I mean I have a 15.00 copay for office visits but as far as the delivery and any hospital visits go we are covered, so I dont know what his problem is. Its not like we both dont have 2 very very good jobs. Honestly its starting to drive me a little batty and pissing me off some.

QOTD: Childcare we are looking at a few places around our area because honestly no matter how much I love my child I LOVE my job as well and its just something I dont think I could leave, so anyways has anyone began to look? I dont want to freak anyone out but I called today and got wait listed at a few places because for infant care the wait is until Summer 2007 ! If so, I know this depends on geographic location, but whats the average price of care in your area? We are looking at 300 a week at an Academy or In home Nanny and if we went with our military base (husband is a reservist) its 596 a week, yeah your telling me!!!

MarriedaGoalie - we are doing pretty well. Still a little shocked, but in a good way. Now I'm just more nervous because of all of the additional complications that could happen.

QOTD - We already have DD in daycare, so I hope we can use the same one. With that being said, our daycare is $975 per child per month. So, if all three of my little ones go into daycare next year - I'm looking at almost $3,000 a month in childcare!!!! Since I am the primary breadwinner, staying home is still not an option for me, but we might have to consider my DH being a stay at home dad (if he could mentally handle it).

So, I'm a litle freaked out. I thought that it was normal for identical twins to have one sac. I guess it isn't and that is what my dr. thinks mine are. If that is the case (it will be confirmed on Tuesday), there is a 50% mortality rate. I would probably spend the last months of pg in the hospital with 24/7 monitoring and more than likely would deliver 4-8 wks early. That means premie babies in the NICU. I guess if I make it to 34 weeks, they are pleased.

BRINK- How exciting and scary! My dh wants twins too, but I keep telling him I have enough risks already.

Okay, can someone help me here?

I'm just wondering what round ligament pain feels like. I have a muscle-soreness type pain on my left side. It starts up in line with my belly button and goes down to my pelvic bone. It is worse when I stand up. I'm not too concerned, as it's not a pain around my uterus, but it is really annoying!

lady1297
09-07-2006, 05:41 PM
shimmerstar-i've never really figured out what round ligament pain is, so take this with a grain of salt, but I thought it was of the ligaments that support the uterus from underneath. so you'd feel it from side to side, low-near your pubic area... i could be wrong though.

tmi question= anyone else suffering from excess vaginal discharge? I've been getting quite a bit recently and it isn't a yeast infection for sure. anyone else??

Just wanted to say a quick hello to everyone. I have been super busy at work this week, since the students started on Tuesday. AGH. The beginning of the school year is always just a mess. :( Anyway, I am 11 weeks today and I can't believe it. I am actually starting to feel pregnant in different ways than before. I am starting to feel less and less nauseous each day, and my bbs are still killing me, but more than that, I am actually starting to show a bit. My waist is disappearing. I mean I used to have such a clearly defined waist and now it is almost gone. It is a weird feeling...but great too. :) People are starting to figure it out at work too. Many women have asked and even after I deny it they continue to push about it. I gave in and told a few people because I was tired of being bugged about it. I was going to tell whomever at work in two weeks from today anyway. I just wanted to make it to the 2nd trimester first. Oh well. I think I am wearing some of my regular clothes for the last time this week and next...as they are getting very difficult to wear comfortably. Anyway, hope all are well here.

Brink: that is way too exciting...and scary too. My dh would LOVE if we were having twins. Congrats.

Goldenbridge, how did the surgery go? I hope it went well.

Shimmerstar- I've been wondering about round ligament pain too. Thanks for all the comments ladies! I still haven't decided what we're going to do yet, but after "talking" to some Twinmammas, this seems to be fairly common for OBs.

Brink - Congratulations and welcome to the club! :D 4-8 wks early is actually fairly common for twins, since they are considered full term at 37 weeks - which is 3 weeks earlier than singletons. My Peri. told me that basically anytime after 20w they start really monitoring for preterm labor, and essentially they can be born anytime after that, but we really want them to stick around as long as possible ;) He's hoping for at least 35 weeks.

Unfortunately, what's fairly common (at least it seems like it) for twins sharing the same sac, is Twin to Twin transfusion - where they share blood. There's a lady on the Twins board who's twins have this. You'll probably be under extra monitoring for that (on top of the extra monitoring for twins!), if it turns out that is the case. Most identical twins have a thin membrane that separate them. Your high risk OB will probably be looking for this at your first u/s. Don't worry if he can't find it then. Sometimes the membrane doesn't show up in the scans for a few weeks.

Now go get yourself Dr. Barbara Luke's book "When you're expecting twins, triplets or quads"! It's a fanastic book with a *ton* of information about twins and twin pregnancies :D

QOTD - Luckily, my parents are both retired and only live two miles from us, so they'll be watching the babies while we're working. My SIL has been pricing out places, since her baby will have to go to daycare after she goes back to work. She said so far the cheapest place she's found is $600 a month. Honestly, I don't know how people can afford it, because I know DH and I can't come up with an extra $600 or $900 a month for childcare if we didn't have my parents.

Goldenbridge - That's fantastic news! Hope you son recovers soon so he can come home!

Shimmerstar - I think I've been getting it for about the last two weeks if I walk too much or push a grocery cart. So far, it's just been an dull ache down on the sides of my uterus towards the pelvic bone. Kind of where my thigh meets my torso. What you might be feeling could also be your uterus stretching. I know I can feel when mine starts to grow.

Well I still had the pain all day. I thought I might have a blocked intestine because I was having poo issues too. So I called the nurse and had to talk to her while my kids were in the room, because that's when she called. They were good though. The nurse had this happy, sing-song voice and said "I'll bet it's round ligament pain". She sounded way too happy! I asked her all kinds of questions and she still thought that's what it is. I can live with it as long as it's not dangerous. I guess I just got lucky with the other kind of stomachache I had this morning.

GGbridge- I'm glad to hear everything went well. I hope Andrew is up and running in no time.

Tandis - thanks for the info on the book. I went out and bought it tonight.

Movement - well, I have definitely felt the twins moving today. They say that with 2nd pregnancies you feel it earlier and with twins it is even earlier. I'm pretty positive I feel them moving around in there. It's kinda like the feeling you get when you are on a roller coaster and it drops - it is just a turning feeling in your tummy. Very strange, but also glad I can feel them moving.

I got weighed this morning at Curves and was surprised to find out I haven't gained anything. I'm okay with that really. I am overweight to begin with and was losing weight prior to getting pregnant so i'm not looking to gain much. I think if i can stay with a slow, low weight gain, things after will be easier. I had dinner with a bunch of friends last night and they all mentioned how much I'm already looking pregnant. My other friend who was with is a week or so behind me and doesn't show yet (her second too).

Today I headed to the mall to check out JcPenny maternity and Sears maternity. I'm mostly looking for some tops cause I have a descent selection of bottoms right now. I didn't see anything at JcPenny but I got a couple of long sleeved tee-shirts at Sears and a really cute blue sweater. Too bad it's still in the 90s here. I'm SO READY for a cool down but it'll be another month before anything significant where I have to grab a light jacket:rolleyes: My buy of the day though was a maternity swimsuit! It was on clearance for $20. It's a 2 piece tankini style with HUGE bottoms but the top fit so cute and covered the bottoms for the most part. It's all Navy with a red stripe over my boobs. Since I'm planning on doing water aerobics as my main exercise I really needed a new suite.

Well poo on them! I've heard wonderful things about that book from pretty much everybody that's read it. I'm assuming unless they're expecting multiples, not too many of them have read it themselves so they can just keep their yaps shut:p

But here in Canada if you work 600 hours the government will pay 55% of your paycheck to you for a full year to go on mat leave and I just can't give that up.

This makes me want to move to Canada. Tomorrow. I'm so jealous of the health care. The weather? Well, that's a different story.

RO and bfing - We're also ffing full time. We were down to just before bed and first thing in the morning, and still had supply problems. The whole supply-demand thing went out the window and I couldn't keep up no matter how much I ate or drank.

What Dr would suggest you not bf???

From what I hear, the am't and quality of info on nutrition (or lack there of) in medical school for any kind of dr. is laughable. Kind of ironic since you don't stand a snowball's chance at staying healthy if you don't eat well.

Babymoon – Probably not. We might do a child-free long weekend in january, and if not I definately want to get away to see my bff who lives a few states away. Dh would take off work at least most of the days for the last extended one on one time with dd for a long time.

um probably not, my husband thinks the end of the world is coming financially and when they say it cost 250K to raise a child hes acting like they are going to ask for one lump sum payment up front....HAHAHAHA

ROFLMAO!! My husband thinks similarly. And although money will be tight, he's working on a promotion that will double his pay and should get it by next summer at the latest and even if he doesn't get it we can still afford 2 kids.

Childcare – What people have posted unfortunately sound reasonable. The centers I looked at ranged from $160-$210 per week per child until 2 yrs. Some go down by milestones as well as age (such as potty trained, etc) so that might be somthing to look into, and home daycares generally charge much less than centers.

Congratulations BRINK!!!!!!!!!!! - Hoping and praying for 2 healthy babies for you!! And I guess I shouldn't shouldn't count on a singleton just yet.

Tandis - I would so switch dr.'s if mine said something like that..it's still very early and some switch as late as 38wks. And there are a lot of moms who exclusively nurse twins exclusively and some even EN to 2 or 3 years. I think there is a triplet mom on MDC who exclusively bfs. I know all 3 are partially bfed anyways and she was shooting for ebf. If I ever accomplished that, even if just for a few weeks, the whole world know. Just find yourself a good LC and bfing pillow and you'll be fine.:) And I think it was around 13-17 weeks or something like that I gained 7 pounds in one month and that was only with one baby and some months I didn't gain anything.

golden - So glad to hear Andrew's surgery went well. I hope he returns home with you soon!

Well things are really busy around here. Dh got a second job and it's so not what he thought it was going to be. He didn't get home til 2:15am this morning and had to be at his full time job by around 6:30am. He delivers drugs to nursing homes (prescription drugs for all the wise a**es out there! ;) ) and apparently 2 of the 6 people called in sick. Yeah, on a friday night, I'm sure they were really sick. *cough cough* So he's going to tell his boss that absolutely no later than 10:30p or he quits. So needless to say I haven't really seen him since Monday night and since he's the cook in the family, I'm also extremely tired of left overs and take-out:o

miaclear (about 'showing')- I just heard from my BFF yesterday that I'm finally looking pregnant. She was a bit surprised as she didn't start showing until about 6 months along. But she was heavy and looked like she was gaining weight, not baby belly and I'm starting to show baby belly not gaining weight. It's weird looking! DH said tonight at dinner (DATE NIGHT!!!) that I was even starting to show but 'baby bump not fat'! Hehe! Two weeks ago he said I wasn't showing at all. I liked hearing that he thinks it's baby bump (well, okay, it is!). Makes me not feel 'fat' like I did with DS!!

Dr and bf'ing- Yeah, most are stupid. Seriously. They are supportive if you are doing well, but many will hand you formula at the slightest provocation. Look long and hard for a ped that will be your cheerleader (mine was as happy if not happier when I weaned DS off the bottle at 2 months-from 2 oz each feeding to 0 each feeding...he seriously was having a party in the exam room for me. That's the ped you want). The ped will be your advocate and support, not the OB. Screw the OB...they are supposed to look after YOU, not your baby. Seriously. The minute that baby is born, they don't look twice at it. It isn't their patient once that cord is cut. I mean, in an emergency, okay, but in general, they dont' even look at it once it's not a part of you anymore. So BF'ing advice from them should be ignored if you ask me (remember, mine told me to wean my 2 year old because it would be detremental to the fetus. Uh, yeah- NOT!). It's pretty sad if you ask me.

Us- DS is spending the night with his grandparents tonight so DH and I went to Olive Garden for dinner and PIGGED OUT!! It was nice. We were able to talk about a ton of stuff. A lot about this baby, how I'd like the delivery and labor this time around. Things that we did and don't want to do again during delivery. Things he remembers from delivery (my facial expression for one when I was ready to push and they had to talk me out of it until the doctor came apparently was priceless!). It was wonderful. We also talked about what to do with DS when the time comes for me to labor at home. I have a feeling that I won't want him around for a lot of it. I just get very crabby when I'm in pain, but there is a part of me that wonders if I won't want to just cuddle/hold him while in labor to comfort myself. You know, last minutes as an only child thing. Which is makign me tear up. I find it sad right now that he's going to be an only child for only a while longer. I feel like we are going to be depriving him of his special status. It's just hormonal issues, I know, but nonetheless, he will have a BIG adjustment. I'm already planning on making some floor pillows for myself so I can sit on the floor, nurse/hold the baby, and still play with DS. I'd hate to have him feel like I don't/won't do that with the baby around. DS always liked to be held and cuddled as a newborn (it was WONDERFUL!! You can't hold a baby enough when they are little), so I'm just assuming this baby will want held a lot too. I hope so. I love holding/cuddling with DS.

Funny story from yesterday. We went to visit BFF, and she has a 3 month old baby girl. I was sitting on the floor holding her while I played farm with DS. Well, at some point he decided that I was done holding the baby. So he looked at her mom, said "Get" "Get now" "pease"!!! And started to pick up the baby-out of my arms to return her to her mommy!! It was hysterically funny! I had to remind him that it was okay that she was there and that I was playing with him while holding her. Guess that wasn't good enough. He said it again. So, I had to hand over baby girl. Oh, this second child thing should be interesting...very interesting!

I am having trouble subscribing to this thread. Is anyone(Has anyone) had this trouble? I go to thread tools and click "subscribe" but nothing happens. :( Any ideas? Thanks. Hope everyone is doing well. I am still fighting the exhaustion thing, which I hope disappears this week or next. I will be 12 weeks on Thursday. The m/s seems to have disappeared, but I still have a lot of aversions to certain foods. The dizziness also seems to have gone away. Thank goodness. My next appt. is September 25th for a check-up and u/s. Couldn't remember if I had posted that information. Anyway, hope all are well. Talk to you soon.

Also, not really important, but threadmistress, my birthday is this Thursday the 14th, I will be 34, not 33. :)

Hey, ladies. I got my NT results back, and although the results were considered in the "normal" range, it wasn't as good as I'd hoped. The chance of there being Down symdrome started at 1:180 before the test, and after test is 1:385.

I'm going to talk to my doctor, but I doubt we will do an amniocentesis. The chance of miscarrying with an amnio (1:200) is greater than the chance that there's Down syndrome present, and it's just not worth it to us.

I'm a little scared, but most of me feels that everything will be fine.

In other news, this genetics office where I had my test offers one of those early gender tests via DNA testing. Although it's not a foolproof proven method to determine gender, this particular office boasts a 96% accuracy rate. So taking it with a grain of salt, they said I'm having a...

GIRL!

Which is what I've felt it is all along. But I'm still not buying any dresses until the sonogram. :)

Nanner, how cool that you know! I'm DYING, but I don't have an U/S for three more weeks and they never said whether I would be able to find out or not.

I made a registry on target.com and it was a lot of fun. My mom ordered a stroller/carseat for me and it should be here in a couple of days. I almost bought a diaper bag today, but then I freaked out, thinking "what if something's wrong with the baby and it dies? Everyone will be mad that they bought stuff for me". So I thought I might be jinxing it.

lady ~ thats a great story, pretty funny, sounds like your son is going to have just as hard of an adjustment as our terrier will have. I'm not really looking forward to his reaction either.

pewee9196 ~ thanks for the info! Have a small funny story for you, so we went to denny's this weekend for breakfast since I was craving a waffle and of course since it was Navy football weekend some mids were out to breakfast with friends/families. It was great, we walked in and J was like look at his pants there are ink stains and grass stains of them, thats terrible they shouldnt let him go out like that, gosh if someone in Lexington saw you dressed like that they'd turn you in so all breakfast he was like hmmm I got his name its "Wood" hes a 3rd should I call the academy and say something. I was like well whats sad even the football players at mother "I" dressed better than that and hes like I know, I was like let the poor guy be, dont say anything! Made my day though hes tough on the uniform!

Nanner ~ at least you have an "idea" better than the guessing game I play with myself everyday...LOL. I mean the convincing game I play.hahahaha I'm DYING to I cant wait to find out!

shimmerstar ~ I feel you on having bad thoughts, last weekend we bougth the Inglesina Zippy with the Compass carseat that attaches but now I'm like dont throw away any boxes or anything because what if something happens!! But I mean you have to think realistically too, you have every right to have a little bit of caution.

Me ~ Have been feeling pretty good lately, still getting sick EVERY morning when I brush my teeth, I think its something thats going to haunt me my entire pregnancy! Um let see, last weekend we made a baby purchase it was on sale 20% off so we got the Iglesenia Zippy with the Compass carseat that attches, I really wanted a bugaboo but my husband TOTALLY will not go for that, they were 1k he had a hard time with the 419.00 but I guess I did a pretty good job of talking him into it! :D Wednesday is my second appointment, really dont know what we will do at it, I guess I should read my paperwork of what to expect at each visit, after that appointment we are going to a daycare facility to check it out, I dont know things might change and I might be a SAHM but for right now we are just getting daycare lined up just in case, the more I think about it I'm having a really hard time thinking how I'm going to end up leaving a 6-8 week old child in the care of someone I dont even know that well, that all just really bothers me!! Also we are in the midst of re-doing our condo, purchased laminate flooring this weekend, the previous owner had berber carpet in there and number 1 I dont know where its been and whos been on it and number 2 our dogs shed way to much and it just sticks into it, not to mention all the pet dander that probalby will build up in it overtime, so I just thought it would be better to go with tile in our bathrooms and kitchen and just laminate the rest of the place, guess you could say I'm freaking a little bit and becoming a germ-a-phob but oh well it will put me at ease! Also looked at nursery furniture this weekend, I'm really stuck on the Pottery Barn or Baby's Dreams Serenity Crib with Generation Next dressers etc. I dont know yet though! Anyways since I've just given the longest post ever I'll let you all get back to what you were doing! Have a great day ladies!!

Before I forget, I want to let the threadmistress know that I've changed my Oct 11 ultrasound to Oct 6. Oh my god, I just realized that's less than a month away!! I CAN'T WAIT to find out if it's a boy or a girl! It was lucky that I had to reschedule because they had never recorded my appointment, so DH and I would have shown up all excited to see the baby on the 11th and they wouldn't have been able to take us.

Anyhow, we went to my uncle's wedding over the weekend and everyone in the family thought I was showing. A couple of people rubbed my belly, but I was surprised that it didn't bother me. We'll see how I feel when a stranger does it though:p

Right now, I'm eating the strangest breakfast. A can of V8, some cottage cheese, and a mixture of marinated mushrooms and artichokes, and white beans. Aren't pregnancy cravings so weird?!

Nanner- Congrats on the girl! I'm jeaous:D But why would you not trust dna testing? Isn't dna more accurate than an ultrasound?

Hi all! Happy Monday! (Yeah, not really-it's clean the house day here in SAHM-ville!)

whitlockan- We have 2 cats and a labrador. It was a rough transition when DS was born, so I think I have a bit of a heads up on what to expect this time around. If I can offer advice for your terrier, start spending a bit less time with her now, so she doesn't associate it with the baby. You won't be able to pamper her all the time once the baby is here, unfortunately. And when the baby is born, have DH come home at night with the blanket the baby had on him/her all day for the dog to smell. Our dog sniffed it a few times and when we brought our son home, she sniffed him twice and ignored him the rest of the day. I also had LOTS of treats tucked into the couch and glidder so when I was feeding DS, I could treat the dog so she would stay with me the whole time and out of trouble (seemed early on that her favorite time to act out was when DS was latched on nursing or having his diaper changed...ugh). I plan on similar again with this new baby as well as having a special box for DS of things he can do while I nurse. It was a good lesson the first time around.

Me- I started having food aversions this weekend. I was making spaghetti for the fam. on Friday. On sniff of the sauce and I almost threw up all over dinner. It was awful. I could barely cut DS's food up for him. I had to wash some spaghetti off and butter it up because I couldn't even imagine eating it. All night I was a second away from throwing up when I thought about the smell. Ugh. It was awful. I didn't have that with DS at all, so it was really upsetting to me.

Hi Ladies:

I am wondering if any of you are experiencing a pinched nerve feeling in your upper back right now or for the other RO's in any previous pregnancy? It is located in what feels like my shoulder blade and the pain runs up my spine to my neck. The reason that I say it is a pinched nerve feeling is because I have taken motrin but to no avail. I've tried a heating pad which helps a little but during the night I am in so much pain that I am not sleeping at all. I should mention that this happened to me when I was pregnant with Sophie but it wasn't as severe as it is now. I have a ob appointment on Friday (where I will hear the heartbeat for the first time...yay!) so I am going to ask her about it but let me tell you, I am suffering right now!

I can't wait to hear the heartbest at Friday's appointment and hopefully I will get my official due date by than too. I'm not sure if I posted my ultrasound picture or not so I will now just in case...

Had my 3rd OB appt. today and everything looks great! I have gained a total of 4 lbs. I have had a nagging cough for about 3 weeks so she gave me an inhaler. I guess she had the same cough for about a month of her pregnancy and it worked well for her, we'll see. I must burn about 500 calories a day just coughing.

We were in Miami this past weekend for my b-day and I treated myself to a prenatal massage. HEAVEN! It was better then any regular massage I've had. So relaxing. My OB's office has a massage therapist on staff so I think I am going to try and get one at least 1x per month. Any of you girls having 'bathroom issues' still - it will definitely help!

I'm back from a very relaxing 5 days in the San Juan Islands. :)

I had my OB appointment the day we left. He found the heartbeat right away -- 140. This coupled with "a feeling" I'm having makes me think we're having a girl, but since we're solidly on Team Green, the mystery won't be solved for about another 24 weeks. :) I will, however, update my gender prediction!

My OB is concerned about my blood pressure. I naturally tend toward high blood pressure, and he said I've proved it with my BP going up since my last appointment rather than down. Usually womens' BP goes up in the first, down in the second, and up again in the third... but not mine. I'm just going up.

I asked if there was anything I could do about it, and he said that to a non-pregnant patient, he'd say, "Lose weight and exercise," but since I'm pregnant, he doesn't want me losing weight or over-exerting myself. It's not high enough for drugs yet, but drugs are probably in my future... and he also said that bedrest may be in my future. Man oh man, I hope it doesn't come to that.

He wanted me to come back in 2 weeks rather than 4 weeks to check my BP. We've scheduled our Big US for September 25, and will have an OB appointment directly after, so that we can talk to him about the US and see what my BP is doing.

Mrs. Hill, I'm right there with you. It was funny, at the OB I was 125/80, which is a little high for me. They remarked on it. Then today at the endo I was 120/80 and the nurse said "oh, that's good". My OB said bedrest may also be in my future- I worry about it a lot, which I'm sure doesn't help my blood pressure!

Orion - Your daughter is beautiful! Personally, I absolutely love little bald headed babies, but that might be because I didn't have hair until I was almost three - therefore I'm biased ;) How old is she?

Nanner - Congratulations on having a girl! Have you picked out a name yet?

MrsHill - Sorry to hear about your BP - hope you don't end up with bedrest. Does your Dr. recommend a low sodium diet or anything?

Dollface - I've been having a nagging cough too. Did your Dr. happen to mention if it's a PG symptom? A prenatal message sounds wonderful. You're so lucky your OB has one on staff!

Kanga - Did you DH get it worked out with his second job? As far as BF'ing goes, according to a bunch of twinmammas it is totally normal for OBs to be against BF with twins, but they all say to ignore him, which I'm planning to do anyway. :) They said it's the Ped. who matters, and he'll be the one who will be supportive of it. Besides, once the babies are born, the OB couldn't care what goes on with them then!

*******************

As for me:

Not much going on here. I'm wearing an outfit today that's making me look *really* pregnant, so all the ladies I work with are getting a big kick out of it (I'm one of the youngest people here, so they've all dubbed themselves co-grandmas :D). This weekend I'm going with my parents to Chicago to see the King Tut exhibit. DH gets to stay home with the dogs, so he's happy.

Physically I'm going back and forth between feeling terrific and being extremely queasy. And I have this gaping hole in my stomach that refuses to be filled.

Funny story: A lady that I'm friends with, here at work, came into my dept. today with a recently opened bag of Sun Chips. I went out to talk with her, spied the chips and thought "Wow, those look really good. I need to get a bag." She must have seen me drooling over them, because she offered me one. I immediately jumped on that, and grabbed a chip. She then offers me the whole bag! LOL, of course I immediately jumped on that too! Hey, I was hungry :D So she starts laughing as I'm walking off with her chips. From my office (a safe distance away), I told her "I'm feel really bad about taking your chips. Not bad enough to give them back, but bad nonetheless." LOL, don't stand between a hungry pregnant woman and food, that's all I have say. ;)

Hi ladies - wish me luck and send a few prayers that I get to stay with the group. We were positively diagnosed today - Monoamnionic. This means the twins are in the same sac. Not great odds. IF they make it to 24 wks without a cord accident, then I'm admitted to the hospital for 24/7 monitoring. They will then be delivered between 24-34 wks depending upon how their cords are doing (tangled/stressed etc.).

I'll count each day that they are in there as a positive but I'm not sure what the outcome will be.

I think I'm feeling the baby at night now. I can feel what feels like a rubbing across the top of my uterus. Still to soon to feel it externally (ie hubby can't feel it and is getting frustrated trying). I've felt the same thing for a few days and it is similar to what I felt around 11 weeks. So I'm taking it as the real deal.

I'm taking my son on a playdate today to meet a new mom. I'm hoping to get a good group of mommy-friends established so I have something to do through the winter and after baby is born.

QOTD: What are you RO'ers doing to prepare your older child? So far we haven't done much. I try to explain the ultrasound pic to him, have him be careful of my tummy (Your little sibling is there kind of thing) and things like that. But other than that, I'm not sure what a two year old can understand early on.

QOTD #2 What are you doing to prepare yourself for the baby (like trying to find support groups, mom's groups, or whatever)?

Janey

Oh my goodness, Brink! I will be keeping everything crossed for you, and keeping you in my prayers.

Tandis - Yes, I'm supposed to be watching my sodium intake. No asian food (which of course is our favorite  ) because it is notoriously high in sodium. I'm also chugging the water -- at least 80 oz -- hoping that will help me not retain so much water. We'll see. I don't mind going on drugs; I believe them when they say they're safe. I *DO* mind going on bed rest, though! Don't want that at all.

Nanner - If this helps, I started this thread in the pregnancy section called Big List of Baby Name Sites (http://www.constantchatter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18004).

Hello!

I just found this website and I like the way things are laid out. I had posted on the August 05' board through AOL my entire last pregnancy but they changed the format and I have been looking for the past month or so for a "new home" for this pregnancy. I still belijg to an email loop with 12 of the gals, and we are all quite close!!!!

Can I join y'all? Pretty please? :D

I guess I should start with an intro....
Me: 31 (and a 1/2!) years old. Hubby and I have been married for about 5/12 years. I currently have 2 other children....both boys, ages 4 1/2, and 13 months! I also have a stepdaughter, age 12 :)
This time we are probably keeping it a SURPRISE, as this will be our last!
One question not to ask me :"Are you hoping for a girl?" A very close friend of mine lost her son at 36 weeks due to a cord accident. So, for me, a healthy baby is all I am hoping for. I had hoped for a daughter with my second. He is just such a happy, awesome little dude, I can't imagine the two boys not having each other now to grow up together as brothers. I have decided to put this baby in the hands of fate!!!! :p

This whole pregnancy was a HUGE surprise..I got pregnant ON MICRONOR. So, I figured, why not wait to find out. It's our last chance....... I had a big miscarraige scare at the beginning. I had bleeding and they saw an empty sac on the Ultrasound. 2 weeks later, there the peanut was. My 13 week appointment yesterday confirmed a heartbeat and all is well! I have been quite ill this pregnancy, much like my first. I am also struggling with exhaustion as I work full time and have 2 boys to tend to (I have a very ACTIVE 13 month old, I might add!)

I hope I haven't joined up too late....I am really hoping to find some more great ladies like my August 05' gals.

Kristina

P.S. How do I make a siggy?

Came here! I also just bought a Peg Perego (ohhh.so fancy!) double stroller off of EBAY. It's SOOOOO nice. I haven't done much so far, still pretty early! I have numerous friends who are pregnant right now, many with their first. I am just helping to support them!

MommyinPA - Welcome! Of course you did not join too late -- there is no "too late." :) We're happy to have you. If you read the first few posts, there is information in there about how to get added to the roster.

Don't forget to introduce yourself to the CC Community (http://www.constantchatter.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=16) as a whole. :)

There is some great information on how to use the boards here (http://www.constantchatter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22528) and here (http://www.chatterblogging.com/2006/08/15/did-you-know-basic-cc-ins-outs/). Creating a signature can be done through your User CP (look top left).

I hope that helps!

To post in a color, highlight what you want to turn color, click the down-arrow next to the "A", and you'll see a bunch of color options. Choose one of the colors. :) No worries, though, I'll add you to the roster with the information you have there. Just make future updates in Red -- it's hard to see them otherwise.

Something else I find helpful, especially in fast-moving group threads such as this -- Change your posts to be 40 per page rather than 10. Here's how to do it:
1) Click on User CP.
2) Under "Settings & Options" click "Edit Options."
3) Scroll down to where it says "Thread Display Options," and look at the section where it says "Number of Posts to Show Per Page."
4) Hit the drop-down menu and select something other than 10. I use 40 ... I find that it's a lot less clicking and loading that way, and I don't miss anything.

Brink, you all will be in my prayers and I will be sending all my good thoughts your way!!

QOTD # 2 - Yesterday I bought my Mommy Mobile :D It really was bittersweet as I had to give up my beloved Jeep Wrangler. I was in love with that car, but unfortunately with 2 dogs there was no way we were going to fit a baby in it too! I had bought it new in 03 and had just put in a 2inch lift and had gotten new rims and tires 2 days before we found out I was pg (did I mention how much I loved this car???). Anyway, the new car is great and DH keeps reminding me that it is just the big brother to my old one as it is an 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Plenty of room for dogs and baby in there now!!!

Anyone elses hair been weird? Mine was getting flatter by the day, and I had just had it cut 2 weeks ago. I went back on Saturday and cut about 4 inches off and got it colored too. I told DH it is my new MILF hairdoo ~ LOL!

Welcome MommyinPA! If you'd like to upload your belly shots and/or ultrasound pictures, I'd be happy to add those to the first page as well. Snapfish and Shutterfly do not work for linking pictures. If you are looking for a photo hosting service, Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/) and Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com/) both work well.

MrsK - Congratulations on your new mommy mobile! :D We just recently got a 2006 Subaru Outback wagon -- I loooove it. It's the most comfortable car I've ever owned. Of course, we live in the city, I don't want an SUV, and we don't have dogs!

Oh and also - I hear you about the hair. I hate my hair now. And my face -- I'm breaking out like crazy. In addition to the water retention, I am one attractive pregnant lady.

Mommymobile:

This is what we currently own (the first two, as we recently sold the last one):

http://shifty.zoto.com/img/45/1f10e5302f47eb4f35cb16a3a1d81318-.jpg

It's a 2006 Volkswagen GTI and a 1998 Volkswagen Jetta. The GTI is probably the most unpractical for having a baby (because it's 2 doors) but we only bought it 6 months ago (because we weren't going to have a baby for two years at the time). My husband would kill me if I tried to get rid of the GTI, so that one is definitely staying. The Jetta will be our real family car for now, since it has four doors. Once we get the GTI paid off, though (4 1/2 years away), I want to get a Volkswagen Passat Wagon, like this...

Marriedagoalie - Oh, I *love* the Passat Wagons! Last year, I was in line for a higher payer job, and DH & I already had the money spent on buying me one of these. Stupid job fell through though, so it remains my dream car until we can afford it.

MommyinPA - Welcome to our group!

QOTD#2 - Essentially nothing. My car is already four door, so it will work fine. DH is supposed to paint the nursery next month, and we bought two shelves to hang in there, but otherwise, we're just waiting. As for support groups and whatnot, I'll probably start attending LLL mtgs around December or so, but that's it.

QOTD #2 - haven't really done anything! We have looked at new cars but figure I can still drive my roadster for a few more months. Although yesterday, I did have trouble getting out of it because it's so much lower to the ground then most cars!

Welcome MommyinPA!!

Brink- Wow, that's pretty scary, but I'll keep thinking positive thoughts for you!

QOTD- We haven't really done anything yet. DH is a super worrier, so he's stayed away from all books about pregnancy and childbirth to make sure he doesn't get all worked up about every little thing. I guess we'll have to start thinking about baby gear pretty soon. Luckily, one of my aunts just told me that she has a ton of baby stuff to give me (she has a kindergartener and a 2 1/2 year old).

We may end up getting me a new car though. DH drives a Toyota Tacoma with the extra cab, so there's not enough room for a rear facing car seat in the back. I drive a 2001 Jetta that was in a terrible car accident last Thanksgiving. It was in the shop for over 4 months and probably should have been totaled. So we're not too confident that it's fully back to normal and since that will be the car we take everywhere once the baby comes, we think we'll get something new and reliable- possibly a Civic. We're totally anti big car/SUV (the Tacoma gets a surprising 25mpg, in case anyone was thinking we were hypocrites:p )

MrsKinnison- My hair has been looking great actually, but my skin is a totally different story- ugh! I feel like a teenager with acne again:mad:

Brink: You are in my thoughts.

QOTD: What are you RO'ers doing to prepare your older child? Not too much that I can do to prepare a 9 months old. We talk about her becoming a big sister but I know she doesn't understand.

QOTD #2 What are you doing to prepare yourself for the baby (like trying to find support groups, mom's groups, or whatever)? Right now I am just concentrating on finding a job so I can get a year of paid maternity leave. After this baby I won't be returning to work again so if we can get a year of paid leave, why not!

Thanks for all of the thoughts and prayers everyone. Lady1297 - luckily my DH works at home and is the one that takes her to daycare everyday. Also, we have a lot of family in the area, so we will be using them a lot I'm sure.

QOTD - Aimee is only 11 months, so we are not going to do anything to prepare her. If all goes well with the pg, it will be really hard on her (mommy being inpatient for so long). I'm sure she will be fine - kids can put up with a lot.

Brink ~ You and the kiddos are in my prayers... hopefully all will be well!!

Preparing kids: Not much. I tell him to be careful of mommy's tummy... his lil sibling is in there... that kind of stuff, but I don't think he gets it. He will lift up my shirt, point to my belly button and try and say baby though. It's funny... but I dont think he gets it...

Preparing me: Not much. I belong to two moms groups already... They are a great resource for finding stuff to do btw... :) One has a weekly playgroup with kids about the same age, and the other has more random, but roughly weekly playgroup with kids of all ages -- so that should be good for Nic having at least a lil fun in the early days, as well as saving my sanity...

I'm back from my doctor's appointment. Everything on the sonogram looked fine. The baby's heartbeat was 148 and he/she was bouncing up and down all over the place, so it's very active. It is about 5.5 cm now, which is quite a bit bigger than it was 2 weeks ago. The ultrasound is still measuring me at 12w2d, which would put my due date at March 27th. My doctor called me and suggested that I should be on bed rest until the spotting stops and for 24 hours afterwards. Also, I'm not supposed to have intercourse until further notice (which is not a problem, since we haven't for about a week now). Needless to say I am here at work again... I know, I know, BUT I am not going to get anymore rest sitting at home then I am sitting here at my desk all day. I am just trying to stay sitting down and drinking lots of water. Thanks for all the thoughts, everyone. :) Btw, I will have new pictures to post this afternoon of the gummie bear. :)

MommyinPA- I've lived all over the state, really. I was born in Milton, grew up in Medfield, went to high school in Dedham, college in Worcester, started (but dropped out) grad school in Amherst, got married in Sherborn, and I have lived in Acton now for about 5 1/2 years. Now that we're having a baby, we're really glad we made the sacrifice to buy a house here because the school system is one of the top in the state, plus there are tons of families with little kids, so I'm sure there will be mom's groups and stuff for me to join when the time comes. Where did you grow up?

Brink- My thoughts are with you!

MommyinPA- Welcome!!!

Regarding cars, DH has a Jeep and a Honda Del Sol, both about the most unfriendly baby cars ever. I have a Honda Civic that will work perfectly. I plan to drive it till it's undrivable but considering it's a 2000 with 40,000 miles on it I might be driving it till I'm a grandma. I see no reason why we'd need to get another car at this point. Maybe with baby #2 when a car might just not fit everything.

Today I got the decore inspiration for my nursery. We are not finding out the sex and most gender neutral rooms I've seen either are gorgeous and cost an arm and a leg, or are really cheesy. So when I saw these I thought they were perfect. My mom is going to make a quilt in some matching colors. They are 8x10 wall cards with the alphabet on them, I might spell out the name or just use the ABC part or various other options. Just love 'em :D

First off....welcome MommyinPA

Brink, you and your little ones are in my thoughts and prayers, just stay positive.

QOTD #2: well you guys are going to laugh at me, we just went and purchased laminate, I was going to put in hardwood but were on concrete so it wouldnt work out that well and I'm freaking out over carpet because of the dogs and what I dont know is down in there. Then we are getting a new dishwasher, stove and refridge, we just purchased this condo last jan. and it has older appliances, well we had just moved out of a 6 month old fresh new build with top of the line appliances so were not quite adjusted to these but we want a dishwasher that will get a litttle hotter, a stove that wont get as hot on the top, the one we have now will literally burn you if something is in the oven and our refridge needs to be a bit bigger for all the baby milk and stuff. Then we are tiling the bathrooms and kitchen and I'm going to steam the couches. On the car front we are set, we just purchased about 4 months ago a new VW Toureage V8, so we already have the nice sunshades installed in the windows and of course since my husband is obsessed with toys it has the air suspension on it as well so I can lower it when I park so its not as high to get the baby out. I have a 2005 Toyota Prius w/42K on it but its strictly my commuting car. I think thats all we are doing now to prepare for the little one aside from the obvious of making it a nice comfy nursery.

Me

OB Today: Just got back from the OB today for my 2nd appointment, it was the quickest one I've ever been to. Unlike some of you my blood pressure is doing the opposite, normally I'm 120/60 but today I was 104/52 and I gained back the 3 lbs I lost early on. We heard the heartbeat it was 160 so I'm getting firm on the fact I might be having a boy :). I was in and out in no time! My next appointments: November 14 and October 17 Also they changed my due date a few days I'm now March 23

Daycare Facility: we went after the appointment to tour a daycare facility and I really dont know how I'm going to do it, I got there and my eyes got watery and when I left I just wanted to cry my entire way to work, I just dont know how I'm going to drop my baby off so early on. AHHHHHHH And I realized NOTHING will be good enough for my baby, so this is going to be interesting to find a place.

Mini-scare: Other than that I had a small scare today I've been known over the years to have a few hypoglycemic pass outs, but I havent had one since I was 18, well today I was in the dog park I grabbed my dog and I was like Jester I gotta go I'm gonna hit the floor, I started losing my hearing and vision (thats how I can tell) so I of course ran in screaming "J get me peanut butter NOW, I'm gonna hit the floor" so I got a little peanut butter in and have recovered but I'm like man I cant pass out ecsp not now, I just hope this doesnt mean its going to be more prevelent with the pregnancy so I'm going to call my doc in the am and see if I should come back in or have a suger test done now. I know my last episode my mom who is diabetic ran over and tested me and my blood sugar was 47 so I really need to start watching it I think. Other than that I have a healthy baby right now.

Whitlockan, I am diabetic, and I was having tons of lows at the beginning. I would assume that the same would be true for a hypoglycemic. Everything I've heard and read says that lows don't hurt the baby, but obviously if you were hurt during an episode that would be bad. I would eat lots of small meals with a good balance of protein and carbs so you don't crash. And I keep skittles on me at all times- you can also buy those glucose tablets at any store.

Miaclear- I like the alphabet cards!

Brink- you're in my thoughts!

Marriedagoalie- glad everything went well at your appt.

Welcome

Cars-
Those of you with or had jeep wranglers would you ever put a car seat in one? My DH has one. I told him I wanted him to get a new car. Guess what he is looking at? A NEW WRANGLER. ARG. I just don't think he will like getting the kid out of the back. I have an accord but we don't have room for the car seat, crate and us in the car. If I am driving by myself for distance I can't leave the dog uncrated. DH would only have the baby on the few days I can't leave work to go to Day care.

Getting ready- Reading some books but that is it. I need to start figuring out what I want. family has been asking. We will find out the sex the same week I am getting promoted so my family will be here! I am maintaining a decent workout program so I keep my sanity.

Yay, 12 weeks today. According to Fertility Friend I am now in my second trimester. I thought the 2nd trimester didn't start until the beginning of 13 weeks. ??? Anyway, I am thrilled to just be at 12 weeks. This is a great day. It also happens to coincide with my birthday, which is normally somewhat insignificant to me, but today seems grand. :)

Miaclear - I love the alphabet cards and saw that idea as well!!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes everyone!!! :)

Whitlockan: I have 2 kids in daycare right now. I have found for me, I really like providers that care out of their home. They get sick much less, and more one on one attention. My older son started Pre-K this year in a center and he is really enjoying it. My baby is still with his in home provider. Its a pain, but I think it is working well. They used to be together. I wish we had family to help, but we don't, so it's up to us to make it work emotionally and financially. My youngest son is very attached to his babysitter...she has been watching him since he was 12 weeks old, and he seems very happy when I bring him there and pick him up :)

Danalou and Miaclear: I LOVE your nursery decor choices! With my third, I am not even doing a nursery. The babies always stay in my room in a co-sleeper than crib until they are weaned and sleeping through the night. I highly suggest the Arm's Reach co-sleeper. It was a lifesaver from having the baby be in bed with me.

Betsyboop:: You sound like me...all over MA!!!!! I grew up in Weymouth, moved to Quincy when I was 17, went to high school in Braintree, college at UMASS Amherst, lived in Sunderland, Worcester, and Ashland!!!!! My friend went to Dedham High, graduated 1993. I also had a good friend in Acton!

Everything at my appointment went well. When I got there, they took my weight, which was 130 (which means I haven't gained any weight yet). Then, they had me pee in a cup to do some urine analysis. Then, they took my blood pressure and I can't remember what it was ... maybe 120/60 or something like that? I'm not sure. Afterwards, the doctor came in and tried to hear the baby's heartbeat with the doppler thing. She couldn't hear it (which didn't surprise her because she says you can't usually hear them on there this early). So, she brought in an ultrasound machine and through that, we were able to see the heart beating, so everything was kosher. :) Apparently the placenta is at the top, which makes it difficult for her to hear the heartbeat. Is that bad? Also, I have a backwards tilting uterus (which I already knew). Is that bad for delivering a baby? I need to do some research, I guess... Anyways, all in all, everything was fine!! Yay!! :D My next appointment is Thursday, October 12th at 4pm. :)

14 weeks 1 day

Pewee...I wouldn't be opposed to putting a baby in the wrangler but I would never want it to be the primary vehicle. We only use it now occassionaly as it is....nice days and such. I remember once last year I saw a family out cruising in theirs, they had two kids (young, baby and toddler) in the back seat and I thought they looked so cute :D

ieducate: depending who you ask the 2nd trimester starts at 13 or 14 weeks. I see more 14 week references so that's what I went with.

Myself: Found another pair of maternity jeans on sale at Old Navy for $20. I swear I just wish I could find some tops! There's a HUGE consignment sale going on at one of the local show halls here, all baby stuff and maternity. Maybe I'll find myself some good buys there!

I scheduled a prenatal massage for tomorrow as my neck is in one big knott and I think that has something to do with my almost daily headaches now :( With the consignment sale and the massage I decided I'll just take a half day off work tomorrow. I love half days....I wish they could all be half days :D

Miaclear - I have that problem too. Soooo annoying. Colace works well., as does eating extra fruit (esp apples and cherries). Also - I love your nursery theme. :D A pre-natal massage sounds dee-lish!

Danalou - You too - that tree mural is awesome!

So I guess that's a good QOTD: Do you have your nursery theme picked out? If so, what is it?

We're doing a Farm theme. I bought some farm bedding at Target on Clearance way before we found out we were pregnant (it was sooo cheap and I loved it, and I knew we were going to be parents eventually). B wants to do a farm mural on the walls. The bedding is this:

Well I called the OB office today and told them what happend last night with nearly passing out and then today with my ears ringing so they are going to have the doc call me in the morning to let me know if they should go ahead and do a diabetes test on me but I'm also thinking it could very well be a combination of my blood pressure dropping so much, well not that much but its pretty low I think 104/52 so that may not be helping much. They said just to make it through tonight, if I dont have an "episode" then I dont have to go to ER but if I have another one tonight then I need to go to get monitored, keeping my fingers crossed and of course i'm eating tons of complex carbs to stay up there and extra sodium (I hardly eat any) in case its my blood pressure. I hope I dont have a blood sugar level problem becase she said if I do then they will work with my primary care provider to work on a strict diet plan.......ahhhhhhhhh.

question ladies, I know I should know what this is but I dont, my sister-in-law is only 5 weeks ahead of me and has had 3 ultrasounds in a matter of 12 weeks, I think thats a little much so I asked her if she was high risk and she said its because she has a low cervix, what does that mean?

I don't know what a low cervix is but I have already had 3 ultrasounds through my regular OB and one with the peri. I am not considered high-risk, I think it's just something my OB does with all her patients. Maybe it's a difference in insurances? I know my doctor doesn't take HMO's so maybe PPO's allow more? Hope everyone is doing well. My nausea seems to have gone away, but my exhaustion is still very much a problem for me. :( I am hoping that this will change very soon. It is extremely tough to be on my feet all day in front of the students but feeling like I need a big time nap.

Morning Ladies!

QOTD: Nursery Theme: None! We have 4 bedrooms (well, our 4th is ALMOST finished! :) SD gets the smallest room, because she only comes on weekends to sleep over. But her room is also the sunniest and has the best view! Our room will become the boys room. Christopher's room will become the playroom. If its another boy, it will eventually turn back into Christopher's room. If it's a girl, it will become the girls room. Is that confusing enough? We don't do a nursery because the baby stays in our room for the first year. I always thought nurseries were more "for the parents" anyhow.....because it is so much fun to decorate them!! My SIL did the cutest mural in her nursery. I will be concentrating on making my boys new room into a "Dinosaur" room! I am very excited to start painting that, as soon as we can move into our new room.

Whitlocken: I have nevr heard of a low cervix. I had a lot of ultrasounds with my second pregnancy due to a low lying placenta and a previous LEEP. Hope you are feeling better!

Ieducate: Happy Belated!

Married a Goalie: Sounds like a great appointment! Its so nice to hear that heartbeat :)

My next appointment is October 13, 2006.

Here's another QOTD: Do you plan on getting a 3D ultrasound?

Welcome, Buffy!

We are not sure what we are doing for the nursery. Our son is going to stay where he is. His room is decorated in Mr. Roger's Neighborhood and I don't want to take him away from that. He is just getting interested in Mr. Roger's. We only have one other bedroom and it's our guest room. We don't really want to lose our guest room because our in-laws come to visit a lot and we don't want to bump them to the fold out sofa downstairs. So the plan at the moment is to keep the baby with us for the first year in a bassinet at first then in the sitting room area of our bedroom in the crib. If the baby is a boy, once he starts sleeping through the night, we'll get the boys a bunk set and put them together. If it's a girl, we'll lose our guest room. There is a chance our attic may be finished by then and we can set the attic up as the guest room. Which would be ideal. We'll see.

Welcome, Buffy! I see you're new to CC as well. If you scroll back to Post #122 and read forward from there, I gave MommyinPA some advice on using the CC boards. I hope it helps you too. :)

QOTD: Do you plan on getting a 3D ultrasound?
No. With everything in the news about the safety of ultrasounds being in question, I'd like to keep them to a minimum. I have my "Big Ultrasound" on the 25th and I asked my OB if they did a 3D one, and he said, "No. The {some acronym I can't remember} has put the Kabosh on these; the safety records aren't there."

Next appointment - Oct 9th

20 week Ultrasound - Oct 23rd

QOTD: 3D Ultrasound - as cool as they are I don't think we are going to do one as it would be an out of pocket expense. The machines are still really expensive and not too many doctors feel they are worth it from the technical end. My former OB had one, but he was also in a really ritzy neighboorhood!!

Buffy - Welcome!!

I was curious if anyone knows about the heart rate of the baby being a good indicator of the babies sex?? I mentioned to my sister that the heart rate at my last appointment was 150 and she said you are having a boy. Not that I would be unhappy with a boy, but I have two nephews and would love a girl!! Oh well I was just curious if anyone else knew about this wives tale!

Hi buffy! Welcome and congrats :)

mommyinpa ~ I'm 98% sure I'm going to do a dinosaur theme for Nic's big boy room too... just haven't gotten the details worked out yet.

Nursery theme ~ Our nursery is dr seuss themed. Wanted it gender neutral so all the kids could use it, and we'll go all gender specific on their big kids rooms. I LOVE our nursery.. .I'll come back later and post pics!

3d ultrasound ~ Nope. I'm only planning on getting the 20 week one. I do really want to know if its a girl or boy though, so I *may* revisit this question if baby turns shy...

heartrate ~ I forget what the old wives tale says, but if it had been true, Nic would have been a girl...

MommyinPA- Well, I graduated in 1996 and I didn't go to Dedham High, so I probably don't know your friend:) Oh well.

MarriedaGoalie- I also have a backwards tiped uterus (I found out at my 8w ultrasound). Let me know what you find out about any difficulties with giving birth, etc.

Welcome, Buffy!

QOTD- For some reason, I'm not really into themes for baby stuff even though that seems to be the norm. I did find the perfect bedding set at Pottery Barn though:

http://a293.g.akamai.net/7/293/5910/0010/image2.styleinamerica.com/pkecimgs/images/products/200637/0002/img85l.jpg

It's white with brown edging with a dark wood crib (although I'd get the spindle kind instead of the sleigh style in the picture). And then I could paint the walls pale blue for a boy or pale pink for a girl. I think it'll look nice and match well with the way rest of the house is decorated.

Oh, and I also saw a picture here a long time ago of someone's nursery and they had a nerd alphabet set hanging on the wall. I'm definitely getting that too:p DH and I are both engineers, so it seems fitting.

My next appointment with the big ultrasound is October 3

I have to go back and see what the team colors mean but we will definitely be finding out the sex so it sounds like yellow is where I belong! :)

Thanks for all the welcomes!

Nursery - no idea what we're doing there. We're in the process of building a house and supposedly we'll be in it by the time the baby comes. The baby will likely sleep with us for a few months anyway so I'm not in a big rush to have a room done. I bought neutral baby bedding for my first daughter so we'll be using that no matter what the sex is. Assuming we can get my second daughter out of the crib by then!

3D Ultrasound - nope. I'll just do the one(s) my OB gives which are the regular ultrasounds

heartrate - I heard under 140 indicates a boy and over 140 indicates a girl. I've also heard it's an old wives tale, but both my girls had heartrates over 140. At my last appointment this baby's heartrate was somewhere in the 130's. And in less than 3 weeks we will hopefully find out if it's a boy or a girl!

Happy Friday everyone. Sorry I haven't posted in a while (lots going on), but I have been following along. Let's see if I can get caught up.

Whitlock - I've never heard of a low cervix, do you think she meant a short cervix? If so, they monitor to make sure it doesn't get any shorter. If so, they will put a couple of stiches in it to make sure it stays closed during the pg.

Welcome Buffy!

QOTD - 3D - We did this with my DD and it was realy neat. I think it cost around $150. I don't know about it with the twins given their high risk status. I know the perinatal usually have 3D, so maybe we'll see it there.

I got my doppler in the mail yesterday. It was really nice to wake up this morning and listen to the babies heartbeats. I could actually located both of them. They are really close together (same sac and all) but I could tell them apart. I won't be doing it very often, but at least if I get scared, I can calm my nerves with it.

I'm also heading over to a friends tomorrow to pick up all the maternity clothes that I loaned her. I can't wait!

Brink
09-15-2006, 11:31 AM
Heartbeat count - I don't remember what the wives tales says, but remember that babies heartbeats are really fast in the beginning and slow down further into the pg. So, if you are going by this, make sure you are also looking at the timing.

Welcome Buffy!

Nursery theme - This picture is the inspiration for my nursery:

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m21/tandis1/EUS500Giraffe-First-Kiss-Posters.jpg

So we're going with a sort of jungle theme:

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m21/tandis1/Zanzibar.jpg

I'm a big fan of monkies and giraffes, so that helps ;)

happy1nuv - I would *love* to see pictures of your Dr. Seuss themed nursery! Were you able to find bedding and everything that matches?

MrsHill - If you have a Baby Depot near you, I saw some really cute Farm themed baby stuff there, that seemed to be a reasonable price. That bedding is adorable.

H/B - it also totally depends upon if the baby is active or sleeping when the h/b is measured.

3D - My peri does it automatically, in fact I've already had one done at my 9w appt. They're pretty neat, though at that point I really wasn't able to make out anything.

QOTD, 3D u/s - I think we'll probably get one. There are a gazillion private places that do them around here - they aren't doc offices, just places that do 3/4D u/s and nothing else. Here they run anywhere from $95-250 depending on the package you want. The smallest packages give you at least a DVD and 10-20 photos, gender determination and a basic medical survey.

Tandis

BetsyBoop - I had originally seen it in one of my junk catalogs years ago, but not wanting to pay upwards of $40 for it, I've been searching for somewhere cheaper. Finally found it on Allposters.com. Here's the link:

http://www.allposters.com/-sp/Giraffe-First-Kiss-Posters_i129770_.htm

I noticed there are a couple different ones available of the same picture. One that's something like $8.99, but looks like a poster.

Hey, ladies! I hope everyone is doing well!

Catching up:

Nursery: Well, we only have a 3 BR home, and the 3rd room is an office. What we'll probably do is keep Baby #2 in our room in the pack n' play for the first couple of months, then move the pack n' play into the office. When she starts sleeping more consistently through the night, she'll share a room with DS. Hopefully by that time, DS will be ready for a toddler bed, and Baby #2 will move to the crib. If not, I guess we'll spring for an inexpensive little crib for her. We'll most likely be going overseas in early 2008 for a couple of years, so we'll sell the house, and when we come back, they'll have separate rooms.

3D Ultrasound: As neat as they are, we won't get one. I'd rather wait until the baby is here to see what she looks like!

Heartrate: A wives' tale is all it is. With DS, his HR was right on the cusp. But from all of the differing stories I've heard, it's not a reliable way to predict the gender. But it's always fun to guess using those kinds of methods!

Now for me:

My level 2 ultrasound is scheduled for October 10th, with a follow-up with my doc right after.

I have been having heart palpitations a lot lately, mostly at night. Although I've heard it's pretty common since your body has more blood pumping through it than usual, I didn't have this sort of problem with DS unless I was exerting myself. These palpitations have been happening while I'm sitting on the couch watching TV. So doc sent me for an EKG, and I had to wear a holter monitor for 24 hour. (THAT was fun!) I just turned the monitor back in this morning, so I expect that I'll hear on Monday if there's a problem. I don't expect there to be, but we'll see. They also checked my thyroid and iron levels, and they're both fine.

We've been trying to think of girl names. It's weird--both last time and this time, we came up with great boy names right off the bat. But we really struggle with girl names. I'm actually sad that we don't get to use the boy name we had planned (Seth Elijah). I just love the name Seth. Anyway, so the hardest part with the girl name is that I'd like to use my middle name, which was also my mom's middle name. You know, keep the tradition going. My middle name is Jeanne. I really love the name Caroline Jeanne, but then I realize I like it because it rhymes with my mom's name, which was Marilyn Jeanne. :D DH vetoed it--I think it was just too much for him to rhyme the first name and match the middle name.

We did come up with another name, without Jeanne as the middle name, and I'm loving it. I've always wanted to pass along Jeanne, but it's so hard! Now I'm just torn.

Anyone have any suggestions for a girl's first name that will go with Jeanne, but that isn't too popular or weird? (For example, with the last baby, we had decided on Ava Jeanne for a girl. But Ava has skyrocketed in popularity, so it's lost its appeal for me.)

Wow, sorry for the length!

Brink
09-15-2006, 01:16 PM
Nanner - We also used the middle name Jean for my DD. It is my mom, DH's mom, my sister and my BF. So we scored big by using it. Obviously my Daughter is Aimee Jean, but we also liked Katherine Jean (calling her Katie). I know there were several others that worked. I'll have to find my old baby name book, I think I wrote them all down in there. When I find it, I'll share.

I can't even begin to think of names yet - I'll have to come up with two!!!! I think I'll wait until I know if they are boys or girls before I tackle that one.

Hi Ladies:

Had my Doctor's visit today and heard the heart beat. It was 160 bpm and was music to my ears. Overall it was a good visit. I'm actually losing weight but the doctor isn't concerned since I haven't yet reach my pre-pregnancy weight from my DD. The only bad thing is that my blood pressure is elevated and the doctor is a little worried. She wants me to keep an eye on it since I've never had high blood pressure, even with the first pregnancy but I know that the only reason my b/p is high is because I just found out that I am returning back to my old job on Monday and I'm not looking forward to it. I'm only going back to four months (just enough to get another year of paid mat leave) but I am still dreading the thoughts of leaving Sophie. I will be finding out soon when my big ultrasound is soon and oh yeah...my official due date is now March 11! Hope everyone has a great week-end.

Cheers,
Jess

It's been awhile since I've posted, I just quickly caught up on several pages of posts :) Welcome to those of you just joining us!

brink: I'm hoping and praying all goes smoothly with your little ones!

re: 12 or 13 week first trimester. I was confused with this myself, but I figure if you divide 40 weeks by 3, then each trimester is 13.3 weeks long. I think that makes sense

QOTD#1: my DS is 2 years old (27 months), and he's starting to notice my belly. He'll lift up my shirt and giggle (only cute when he does this, of course!). He's watched a few episodes of "A Baby Story" (on TLC) with me, so I think he started to pick up on what might be going on from that. I tell him to say hi to the baby, and he says "hi" and "bye" as if he's having a phone conversation. We still don't think he fully understands what's going on, but I think in time he'll catch on. It's still early. A friend gave me a book by Dr. Sears (I think) geared towards big brothers/sisters to prepare for a new baby in the family. All in all, we're slowly introducing the idea of a baby to him.

QOTD#2: I haven't purchased a thing for baby, yet. Then again, I haven't bought much of anything for the past three months, shopping with morning sickness just hasn't appealed to me :p

As for me, I've been feeling so much better the past few days. I have my energy back and the nausea has pretty much disappeared.

I received the official report from my first ultrasound done at 11wks/5 days:

There is a single living intrauterine gestation identified with fetal cardiac activity noted with fetal heart rate of approximately 167 beats per minute. The crown-rump length measures 5.5 cm, corresponding to sonographic gestational age of 12 weeks 1 day plus or minus 7 days and yielding a sonographic EDD of 3/13/2007. The LMP age is 11 weeks 5 days based on LMP date of 6/09/2006. No (ovarian cysts) are noted.

So, the ultrasound dates me as due a few days earlier than my LMP due date, but I think I'll stick with my original date of 3/16/07.

I think that's it for now, I'll try to keep up with this thread on a more regular basis, it's starting to move fast, now!

Pewee....OMG...headaches almost daily! I thought most of mine were related to my tension in my neck which is why I did the massage yesterday. Tylenol would do nothing, just laying down and resting would help, but then as soon as I got up and moving they were often back. They weren't migranes by any means but just those annoying tension headaches that are enough to drive you crazy. A good massage would be my suggestion for an answer.

Headaches hahaha I thought it was just me I've had then everday the past 4 days, I hate them so much.

3D Ultrasound: most likely yes, I'm pretty sure our insurance covers one even if it doesnt I'd lke one since I'm so darn impatient.

Me:

The doctors called me yesterday and they are going to hold off sending me for a test until my next appointment providing I dont have to many episodes until then, they just told me I need to start eating every 2 hours and drinking all day long (duh!), although even though its a duh, I will have to admit I'm really bad at it since I feel disgusted when I try to eat or snack when I'm not hungry, oh well I need to make it work though if I want to feel better!!

Anyone else having really bad gag reflexes, man some days I walk around all day just gaging, its no fun at all and kinda embarrasing when I'm talking to someone then gag, oh well we just laugh about it. This is even funnier when I mention the word I gag right then and there. Its wierd.

pewee9196 - I hear you on the headaches! I haven't had one the last few days but last week it was awful.

Re: Ultrasound - Not that I'm assuming you all haven't, but before you go ahead and do the 3D ultrasounds, be sure and do some research on the risks and make sure they're acceptable to you. Here's an article I found via Google (http://www.askquestions.org/articles/ultrasound/) by doing a quick search.

Massages...I realize I didn't update about mine. My OB practice runs a medical spa so it made sense to go right there. The other massages I've had have all been relaxing and sensual really. This one was a little different. It was relaxing but my massage therapist really talked to me about what was going on in my body that caused all these new aches and pains and how I can have DH help relieve them (and what he shouldn't rub), how to sleep and position the pillows, she was very helpful. It was wonderful. Of course today I feel like I got beat up but at least I'm a lot more relaxed and can move my neck ;) I'm hoping to go every three-four weeks so that I don't let myself get that bad again. When she touched my neck she said it felt like I almost had whiplash. The massage was great but she also did some more therapy like things to help me get mobility back so I can turn my head.

Now the best part...IMO. I thought at $70 for an hour it was a very reasonable price to start with. They have a program though where for $180 I can have as many massages as I want up till the baby is born, one after the baby is born, and in the mean time I'm able to buy massage gift certificates for my family/friends. All for $40 an hour! After six massages it's the program has paid for itself and I'm reaping all the benefits. I highly expect to meet the requirments!

To answer my own QOTD: I am not getting a 3D this time. I did get one with DS #2. It was very cool, but I actually want to be surprised this time at what the new baby looks like! It was quite accurate last time.

Whitlockan: I still get a gag reflex when I change my DS's diapers. Yuck. I am about the gag thinking about it. Anyone STILL have M/S? I do :(

Buffy: Welcome! I'm new too! I am so excited to have another mommy here having their 3rd!!

Last night I sneezed and the baby kicked the stuffing out of me! It felt exactly like popcorn popping, which I thought was weird, but that's the perfect way to describe it. It was a lot stronger than it has been. Then I tried to reenact it for dh but it didn't work again. It was so neat.

I don't think we're getting a 3-d u/s. If my doctor offered me one I would take it though.

Our nursery is going to be storybook characters. I'm going to paint them myself. I want to wait until after our level II u/s next Wednesday. I'm so excited and I really hope we can find out the sex. My family is dying to start buying stuff.

Me- Things are going well here. Not much going on. I have an OB appointment Friday, with a different doctor. It should be interesting. I'm debating asking for a medical leave from my gym. The round ligament pains are keeping me from wanting to go and I'm just not into it right now. I didn't think I'd be like this, but I feel like I'm wasting money paying monthly without going. If I'm not going, I think I should be let out for pregnancy. Anyone else being lazy about exercise??

I changed my Username. With the impending bambino, MrsHill seemed a little... lacking somehow. I didn't want to be "Babyname's mommy" because I thought that if/when #2 comes, I'd have to change it again so I decided to go with something non-dependant on my relationship to other people. I've been using Janey since forever, so I just decided to keep going with that.

Shimmerstar - I'm sooo jealous of you feeling the baby! I keep thinking, "Any day now, it's going to be any day..." but any day wasn't today, and it wasn't yesterday either. I can't wait! :p

Marriedagoalie - Because we're limited in number of images per post (we've almost capped the Ultrasounds and may have to take over a few of the belly shots page to post a few more ultrasounds pretty soon! :)), I kept your last two belly shots in the front page. However - I see you're using Flickr. If you want to add your belly shots into a "Belly Shots" set in Flickr, I'd be happy to link it into that area so people could click it and see all your shots.

That goes for the rest of you, too... if you're keeping a bunch of pregnancy/belly pictures in a photo album or set that is linkable, I'd be happy to link it up. Let me know!

Nursery decor - We're not doing a nursery as we only have 2 br and dd is a light sleeper so she'll get to keep that room to herself and the baby will room in with us. We're planning on moving due to dh's job ASAP which will probably be somewhere of spring/early summer 07 and then we'll look for a house with hoepfully 4 br (one for playroom/office) or at least 3. Until then the baby will sleep in an arm's reach co-sleeper connected to the bed. He/She will then most likely stay in our room with a crib as a co-sleeper (just take one side of it off and push it right up to the bed) until he's STTN. I stressed so much with dd about how many times and for how long I was up at night, when I'd get to lay back down in bed, etc. She is just now finally STTN at 11 mo and hopefully I've just now figured out a schedule that will keep her sleeping until at least 5am. Now I'm wondering why I didn't do what I plan for #2 the first time around. I won't have to get out of bed, just maybe sit up until we get the hang of bfing and by laying next to him/her, even if he's still awake but content I can get some sleep.

3D ultrasound - unless it's offered for my big u/s with my dr, then no. We couldn't easily afford it, but even if we could I won't ever have any medical treatments used by someone other than a dr. and I don't believe in getting anything done that isn't necessary when there are risks (even if miniscule) involved.

Triple screen - dr. advised against it due to high false positve but said he'd ok it if that's what dh and i decided. We decided against it because no matter what the test says there isn't anything you can do about and also because I want to enjoy the pregnancy. God forbid if flipper does have some sort of genetic dissability, I'd rather not know since there's nothing that can be done and enjoy the pregnancy. Dh and I are also not high risk.

Morning sickness - Mine went away I think around 13 weeks but seemed like it lasted forever.

Anyone have any suggestions for a girl's first name that will go with Jeanne, but that isn't too popular or weird? (For example, with the last baby, we had decided on Ava Jeanne for a girl. But Ava has skyrocketed in popularity, so it's lost its appeal for me.)

My name is Elizabeth Jean, but obviously my first name is pretty popular. If you do find a name you like but it doesn't fit with Jean, you can always use something that's similar (Jane, Janine, etc) or have a middle name other than Jean but still starts with J. Avery is similar to Ava and although it has gained some popularity, nothing like Ava has.

Heartrate test - I've heard over 140 is a girl and under is a boy, but I've also heard 150 instead. Dd's heartrate was allover the board, 160's to 120's.

Back to an old QOTD - what are we doing to prepare? Sunday I decided I was fed up with the high maintenance of my cars rims & tires so I walked into Mercedes and pointed to a GL450 and said 'Give me one of those in black, fully loaded, here's the keys to my SL'. I have to admit that it was also starting to get hard to pull myself out of my car because it sits so low. The GL is so BIG (7 passenger) compared to my SL so it will take some geting used to, but so far I really like it. I officially have a mom car!

Triple/Quad screen - due to my 'advanced maternal age' my doc has recommended one. I am still a bit unsure. My next appt. with the perinatologist is Oct. 10th so I am going to ask her if she really thinks it's all that necessary since my NT came back so well.

dollface: Congrats on the new wheels. The scene you described going into the Mercedes dealership is something I picture doing in my dreams. Most jealous! :)

Marriedagoalie: Nice belly pic!

Whose wearing maternity clothing? I am wearing mostly maternity in bottoms, though some of my bigger clothes still fit. Tops I am wearing mostly my pre-preg stuff, but I have worn a few maternity tops as well. I expect to be in full maternity gear within the next few weeks. It might help if I tell my co-workers soon.

Thanks! Although the car I was giving them was worth more then the one I got so it wasn't that big of a deal :)

Whose wearing maternity clothing? I am not wearing maternity yet. My pants aren't buttoning but I have this cool thing called a B-Buckle that I hook onto my belt loops and it extends my waistline a bit...

It works great. I just have plain denim one. I also have a Bella Band but it's been so hot lately, I just couldn't bare the thought of wearing it.

The name game: I do not plan on telling anyone our choice before the baby comes. It makes more of a surprise! I have a girls name picked out (left over from my last DS). I am sorely in need of suggestions for a boys name. We have a Christopher and a Caden. I know its cheese-mo, but we need a "C" or a "K" name. Our last name begins with a D and is Italian sounding. The middle name wouldbe Michael. Any suggestions would help. I have thought of a few, unsure if I even like all of them, but here is where I am at. More suggestions needed!

Cameron, Canon, Kannon, Kaine, Cain, Cale

As you see, I haven't gotten very far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Dollface- Yup, I didn't see any reason to hold off on the maternity clothes. I've been wearing them for probably a month now- ever since my normal pants started feeling tight. I figured that if i had to buy a whole new wardrobe, I might as well get my money's worth and wear it for as long as possible:D

MommyinPA- We're not telling anyone the name we pick either. We don't want anyone's opinion, especally the negative ones:p When my parents told my grandmother what my name was going to be, she actually made them change it because she thought it was too "weird" so we don't want my parents to feel like they can do the same to us. Plus, it'll be nice to have somthing to announce when the baby's born since everyone will already know the sex. (In case anyone is wondering, my name should have been Briana Elizabeth, but my grandmother insisted on Elizabeth Briana)

The only C or K name I can think of is Kevin, sorry!

Betsyboop: I couldn't agree more about the name thing. If I had a nickel for every look or stupid comment I got about the name "Caden". I love his name, and am so glad we didn't tell too many people ahead of time. I am actually disppointed at it's growing popularity, but it is a fabulous name after all ;)
I love that noone will know the sex or name ahead of time. It will drive everyone crazy and I find that sort of rewarding :)

Names - I won't begin to think about them until I know if they are boys or girls. With our DD, we had it picked out but didn't tell anyone until she was born. I also didn't want any comments but I also didn't want to be stuck with the name in case we chaned our minds. I could just see someone making her something with the name on it and then we changed. We'll do the same again this time.

Wow, you gals have been busy while I was gone! All in all it sounds like everyone is doing great!

Cabo was wonderful! There was a bit of excitement with the hurricane, so my poor s-sister had to quickly move her ceremony up a day and the reception back a day. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful and you would never know that there was no rehersal or that they pulled it all together in 2 hours. As Murphy's Law would have it, the hurricane completely missed us and we didn't even get so much as a rain drop or a cloud! It was pretty windy though, so probably better that they moved things around a bit, not to mention the great story they will have now. I got some sun and a ton of freckles!!! Everyone was commenting the last day how much more I was showing in just a few days :D Unfortunately, I got really sick that last night and was up to use the bathroom every hour all night, so I actually came home smaller than when I left :( Still not 100% now, no appetite, but doing better. I got home at 2am last night and stayed in bed until just about 2pm today ~ I think I might actually take a nap now too! I figure I probably need it between not sleeping the night before, being sick, and traveling for 12+ hours my body needs it!!

Jeep Wranglers~ My jeep had a 2 inch lift, plus 31 inch tires. Not only would it be an extra PITA getting the baby in the back, but I didn't think I would be able to get in it for the entire pg. Our other vehicle is an F250 super duty also with a lift, so that was going to be tough too. PLUS we have 2 dogs ~ a golden and a lab/hound mix so I could never get everyone in one car. If the wrangler isn't going to be the primary baby car, then it could work just fine. But, if you are going to be taking that car more often, it could get old real fast.

I can't believe I forgot to add, I'm pretty sure I felt the baby for the first time!!! It was the gentlest little taps, during take off. I think a combination of changing cabin pressure, and the fact that I had to pee, made it easy to feel. It was just below my belly button, right where we found the heartbeat, then just to the left a bit. Unfortunately I haven't felt it since, but it was still great :D

Mrs. Kinnison- COOL! Glad you had fun.

I am in maternity pants full time. I refuse to wear any maternity shirts yet, because I feel like people will judge me. But I have a bunch and will "allow" myself to wear them in a few weeks. My regular choices are getting fewer by the day.

Tonight was our school skate party. I told one parent from last year that I am pg, and suddenly everyone knew! It was a dad too! Even my kids from last year were coming up and asking me about it. It was cute.

Maternity Clothes - me! Not really full time until the last week but I think my belly popped a little because suddenly my pre-preg shirts are way too short and look ridiculous. I bought some new, more fitted stretchy maternity shirts so they don't look too huge like some of my old stuff.

Stopping by to say hi! MommyinPA, thanks for the shout out in the April 07 thread. I'm glad to know I'm not the only third-timer! My guess is that I'll end up a March Mama in the end. Both of my other boys came early (#1 - 9 days and #2 - 21 days) so why stop the trend now?

Hi Ladies: Just wanted to stop in to say hi. I don't have much opportunity to visit the boards lately since I have started back to work full time after being on mat leave for the last year. It is so hard leaving my DD with the Nanny every morning but not so hard knowing that I will only be working for about four months until I have enough hours earned to go back on mat leave.
This pregnancy is flying by and I must say that it has been very easy so far. No m/s, no major aches or pains (yet!) and an every expanding belly. I am actually smaller now than when I was pregnant with DD at this same point but I am thinking that it has to do with me going to the gym a few times a week. In other news...I have been feeling the baby kick now for a couple of weeks. At first it was just a small kick every few days but now I feel the baby at least a couple of times a day. Sometimes just a flutter but sometime a little kick...so exciting.
I need some advice lades....I have returned back to work after being on mat leave for a year (returned back to the same company but in a different province since we have since moved) and I haven't told them that I am pregnant yet. I know that I have the job security because I've been with the company for over two years but when and how should I tell them that I am pregnant? I am showing now but keep in mind I just had a baby nine months ago and although I am getting a few looks, no one dares ask me about the belly...too funny. I also work with young guys so they don't really clue into anything to do with babies or pregnancy! Let me know what you guys think!

Cheers,
Jess

Orion-If it were me, I'd wait a few more weeks, unless you are growing by leaps and bounds. Then again, if you have job security, I might be inclined to tell sooner. I don't know. Guess I'm no help, huh??

Baby movements- I've been feeling the baby move more and more recently. Like right now, after a Mt.Dew (I know, I know...) and some apple pie, the little stinker is just loving it in there, bouncing around. Each time I don't believe that it is anything but gas (they tend to go hand in hand for me right now) but it is definitly NOT gas. It so fun.

Maternity clothes - I have a bella band, but I don't find it to be the most comfortable thing in the world, though my SIL swears by it. Still wears it, in fact, even though she's 8 1/2 months pregnant. So I've been in maternity pants, or XL skirts with elastic waist, since 8 weeks. Occassionally I throw on a maternity top as well, especially since some of my regular tops are starting to ride up.

Names - We've picked out a few. Actually, I suggest them, and DH either vetos or agrees to add it to our list. So far, we have a one full boy and one full girl name picked out, with a couple additional names that we're not sure what we're doing with yet. I've told a few people what we've come up with, and for the most part no one really says anything negative. Except my mother, who did end up turning around and apologizing, so I'm not holding it against her. ;)

Baby movements - Definitely envious of those of you who can feel your baby already. I figure I have at least another 3-5 weeks before I will.

Belly shots - I do have an updated belly shot I took of myself last week at 12w, but unfortunately, it's still on my computer at home. I think I might skip it and have DH take one of me tomorrow at 13w. Definitely popped though. Everyone can tell I'm pregnant now, since I look to be about 5 months pregnant.

MrsKinnison - Glad to hear Cabo went so well, and your sister's wedding wasn't disrupted by a hurricane. Sorry to hear you got sick though. Do you think it was something you ate, or you picked up a bug? Hope you're feeling better soon!

Maternity Clothes - I finally got my clothes back and I'm so happy to be comfortable again. Since I am having twins, I'm huge! Tandis - I think I look about 5 months pg too! They say that with twins you will measure about 6-8 wks ahead of a singleton, so I guess 5 months is about right, but it sure feels big.

CC Name: littlemia
Me: 30
DH: 29
Married: 4/26/06
TTC: 6/06 after m/c late Apr./early May
BFP: 7/4/06
EDD: 3/14/06
Gender Prediction: Boy
Any other children: No, just Mia, our fiesty mini dachshund
Are you finding out the gender of this baby? No

Hi, I'm joining a little late. I had to drop out of the November Mommies thread at 11 weeks and I really didn't want to drop out of another thread. That, and I really wasn't happy to go through another 1st trimester and wasn't feeling like chatting much. But now that I'm 15 weeks I'm feeling like I might actually have this baby.

This pregnancy is going pretty well so far. I feel like crap, but I don't have any complications or anything. I haven't had any ultrasounds, so I'm eager to have my big one in about a month. I have heard the heartbeat on the doppler, so at least I know there's a living baby in there.

So far, I haven't done anything besides the health stuff. I haven't bought any baby gear or maternity clothes. We have enough to do with the rest of the house that I'm not even going to think about the nursery until January. We probably need to start thinking about names sometime soon, though. DH and I are so indecisive that I'm afraid we're going to end up calling the baby by its in utero name, Dos (just kidding, of course).

Oh, and my due date was calculated using a wheel and it doesn't match up the gestational age. It's only one day off, though.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Re: Maternity Clothes - I love 'em. ;) I am a SAHW and can live in jeans & casual shirts -- the maternity ones are ever so much more comfortable than my regular clothes!

Triple/Quad Screen - I skipped the quad screen/nuchal translucency which would've been done around 13 weeks or so. I have my "big ultrasound" on Monday and I'm not sure what all that includes but I think they might do the triple screen at that time?? Unsure.

Names - We continue to cut names from our list every month -- Last week was September's cut. We're down to about 11 names for each gender now. Our goal is to get it down to 3 names of each gender by January, and then figure out middle names. Once the baby gets here we'll bestow one of the 3 names on him/her.

Brink - I know when I went in for my last OB appt. (around 10 weeks I think?), he found the top of my uterus slightly under my belly button - like around the 17 or 18 week mark. So yeah, measuring a little big ;)

ETA: Just had DH take my 13w picture. My god I'm huge! Of course, I'm blaming this partially on the Cheerios and Carnation Instant Breakfast I just ate, but still, I think I'm bigger than I was last week.

Maternity clothes- i guess I'm inbetween. Maternity clothes are just too big still, but most of my reg clothes aren't working either. So, most days I'm in reg clothes with Maternity tops becasue they are comfy enough. I'm hoping to move quickly in the growing area so I can wear some mat. pants. I bought some pants online and am waiting for some to ship. I hope they fit better than my XL's. That ought to put me over the edge and help me be comfy again.

Sleeping- Anyone else a tummy sleeper? I am big time but am getting more and more uncomfy doing it. I can feel my tummy and that makes me roll to my side. I am getting frustrated and think it's getting close to the time when I'll need to pull out the extra pillows. Ugh.

Lady1297 - I was a tummy sleeper, but have been sleeping with an extra pillow since the beginning of July - shortly after my embryo transfer (did want to crush the embies, you know ;)). Recently, I've upgraded myself to having two pillows under my head, and a large body pillow that I cuddle with. DH likes it because the body pillow is slimmer than than regular pillow I used to sleep with, so he's just gained an extra inch or so in bed :D

Okay ladies, I'm not going to take the joyous time away from anyone else but I have a few concerns in regards to my pregnancy given my current situation.

Stressjust how much stress can a baby take and what effects does it have on it, anyone know?

Crying and no its not crying at diaper commercials but does it affect the baby as well if its something thats constantly being done.

I ask these questions because I'm in a terrible situation, one that I am not ashamed to share with youladies because I know you will not judge and you provide the best support possible. I will eventually post in emotional support under an anon to get other help as well so dont worry I'm not going to bogg this thread down with my depressing life. Anyways I guess I will go ahead and get to it, if some of you may have seen I requested that the title of my DH be changed to Father and that my wedding date be deleted, this is for good reason. Last week I had doubts that my husband just wasnt scared about the pregnancy but for other reasons, It was confirmed and the answers are coming out now. My husband is cheating on me with another women, get this she is a mother as well to a 2 year old and married and knows I'm pregnant, he has since decided that we will not make it and once the baby is born he would like a seperation and then eventually a divorce. So as you can imagine I've been VERY stressed out and crying literally all day everyday just because I dont understand how not only could he want a family one moment then find someone else another as well as dealing with the fact that this woman has no guilt or does not feel bad for what she is putting me through, I just dont understand how someone can do this, it wouldnt be that big of a deal if I were not pregnant and I could just leave and move on with my life, but I was not raised in a broken family and do not wish this upon my child because I know one day it will have questions and it will internalize it to some point even though it didnt ask for any of it. My friends are slowly finding out about it and it kills me because they dont understand with all the stress and emotions how I'm still carrying this child, so its really starting to scare me. Any advice would be great!!

Okay ladies sorry to dragg down your day but I needed to get that off my chest.

Welcome littlemia!

Tandis I love your preggo belly! I can definitely see the difference in the last week!

Names ~ I'm not even going to think about them until I find out the sex. We had such a hard time naming our second daughter, we didn't actually decide until the car ride on the way to the hospital when I was in labor! I have a feeling this one is going to take a while too.

Movement ~ I am 99% sure I felt the baby move last night. I felt some little movements, then a gas bubble that felt completely different than the first movements. I love this part of pregnancy! Feeling the baby move but still able to bend over is wonderful. :)

whitlockan- First off, I want to give you a big <<<HUG>>>. I can't imagine how hurt you are or even how crushed you are. But I do think that you need to go immediately to your doctor (OB) to make sure baby is okay and then get a referral to a therapist of some kind. I know it probably isn't what you want to hear, but I think the more professional support you have and the more closely your doctor can watch you, the better you'll be and the more prepared you'll be to be a single mom. I would also start the process of legal counsel, I've heard that the sooner you have some legal help the better it will go for you. I can't imagine that the baby came for any reason other than to heal your heart and show you God's love for you and I'm fairly confident that things with your pregnancy will be okay, especially if you get some help RIGHT NOW. Oh hon....as if pregnancy wasn't bad enough....

whitlockan I agree with lady1297, talk to your OB first. I know someone who went through a divorce while pregnant which I imagine was stressful on her and her baby turned out just fine. I think these little ones are pretty resilient but I really, really think you should talk to someone. I'm so sorry you are going through this. :(

Oh Whitlocan, I'm so sorry to hear about your situation:( I was afraid that something like that was going on just judging by your post about changing DH to father, etc. I didn't want to ask in case you just didn't want to talk about it. I agree with the others, talk to your OB to find out what stress might or might not do to a fetus. I'm sure everything will work out ok in the end, but it's sometimes makes you feel better to hear it officially from the doctor, you know? I'd also suggest talking to a therapist- it will probably help you bring your stress levels down in addition to helping you deal with the situation. And don't worry about bringing the thread down- we're all hear to support each other through our pregnancies and, as we all know, pregnancy isn't all roses!

Baby movement- Yup, I've definitely felt the baby fluttering around in there a bit. So cool!

Tummy sleeping- I'm still able to sleep on my tummy, but we have a super pillow top bed (it actually has 2 layers of pillow, not just one), so I'm sure that's helping me out a bit. It'll be a sad sad day when I can no longer sleep on my stomach and I'm not looking forward to it!

I also finally have my belly pictures online! I'm just going to post the first one (from 5 weeks) and the most recent (last night- from 16 weeks):

I look like crap in all of them because we take the picture immediately before bed, so my hair is a mess because I've been hanging out on the couch all evening, my make-up has been washed off, and I'm all tired and stuff, but oh well:rolleyes:

Whitlockan - So sorry to hear about your situation. Definitely recommend going to your ob just to make sure. I'm sure there's nothing wrong but knowing so will just take that much stress off you. Just be as proactive as you can by contacting attorneys, support groups, counselor's, etc. You probably feeling like the world is falling out from underneath of you - hopefully by taking control of everything will help you out with that. There was a thread in ES not too long ago written by Sadwife, aka junkinmytrunk titled 7 months pregnant, husband has cheated or something to that effect. Her story sounds very similar to yours. (She had a perfectly healthy baby btw) It sounds like you already have, but start reaching out to friends and family for help and support. No one should have to go through this alone. Oh, and also get yourself your own account in just your name with your own money if you don't already. I'm sure my stress level can't compare to yours, but I've been under quite a bit of stress for financial reasons and have spent more nights than I'd like to admit crying myself to sleep. So you're definitely not the only one.

Names - once again we're finding boys names pretty easily but having a hard time with girls names. It's all just for fun now until we find out what we're having then we'll get more serious about it. We're also not telling anybody the name until Flipper is born (well except for ccers of course:D ). I wish I would have listened to that advice the first time around.

Tummy sleeper - me too. I've mostly broken myself of the habit by about 95%, but I'm counting down the days until I can again.

Whitlockan: My heart is breaking for you. I can't imagine the emotions you must be feeling right now. Know that WE are all here for you and I hope your family and friends will be able to support you during this time. And don't ever feel like you might be bringing the thread down, we are all here for each other and everything we go through.

Tummy Sleeping: I stopped fairly soon, if I do sleep on it I'm usually kinda ****-eyed and half on a pillow so my belly isn't flat on the bed. Most nights I toss and turn side to side and will often wake up on my back which is still comfortable.

Movement: SO jealous of those who'v felt the baby already. Nothing here but I know it could still be a couple weeks away before I feel anything.

Maternity Clothes: I'm wearing all maternity bottoms, some are a little loose but I'd rather spend a few moments during the day pulling them up than being completely uncomfortable in my pre-preg pants. I have a few maternity tops that I LOVE wearing, but I still wear non maternity also. I need to find more tops!!!!

Tummy sleeper: I still am able too. I recall doing this for a while into my last pregnancy :)

Movement: None so far. Wahhhhh I am a little behind a lot of you though due date wise.

Kanga: I WISH boys names were easy for us too. We exhausted our top two picks already and we are struggling for a third!

Orion: Tell your work whenever you are ready. I've only told my boss. I am not looking forward to the "Was this planned question" from my co-workers, none of which have three kids. Around here you'd think I have had a litter or something having 3!

WECLOME LITTLEMIA: I tot ally understand you "waiting it out" to come aboard. I am so sorry for your miscarriage. It is such a difficult and painful thing to experience. My reason for not posting until recently was that at one point in this pregnancy, I was told I had miscarried. (I had bleeding and they saw an "empty sac")
I joined in July, found out about the miscarraige, then didn't come back to the boards at all until about a week ago. I was told weeks later that there WAS a viable pregnancy, I didn't believe it, so until I reached the 13 week mark and heard the heartbeat, I kept thinking there had to be some mistake and in fact, I was not still pregnant. We are glad to have you! :D

Whitlockan: I am so sorry to hear about your situation. Like the other girls said, let your OB know whats going on, and in the interim, it cannot hurt to start seeing a Therapist to help you sort out the MANY emotions you must be feeling right now. Sometimes it really helps to just be able to unload and vent. I cannot believe the gall of your husband, or his home wrecker of a girlfriend. It makes me angry to hear how they have acted, and it's impact on you :mad: Lean on those who truly love you right now. I have a feelign once the baby is born your hubby may try to grovel his way back into your life, once his "honeymoon" is over with that other slut. I again anm so sorry you have to go through this. {hug}
For completely different reasons, I too have experienced some acute stress during this pregnancy. Previous to being told I had miscarried, I had learned my mother, whom I have been not been on spesaking terms with for over a year now, is dying of a terminal illness (ALS) It has caused me significant anxiety and the day after I found out is when my bleeding began. I was sure I had miscarried because of the stress. Turns out it was not related at all (the bleeding). And obviously, I am still here, and pregnant. It is very hard having major stress during pregnancy. I have seen a Therapist, as well as get as much rest as my family will allow. We are here to support you!

whitlocan ~ By all means, vent in this thread!!! We're here for ya, no matter what is going on! Big {{HUGS}} to you... I cannot imagine what you are going through. I totally second the advice everyone has given you... seek a lawyer and a therapist asap!

I had my second appt yesterday... after complaining about ms and how my vitamins were making it worse, the mw told me to stop taking them for a week and then slowly get back on them... she stressed that any food and liquids were more important at this stage in the game...

Goldengatebride - I just noticed you are on-line - how is your son doing?

Whitock - I also agree with everyone about talking to your doc and therapist. I do believe that letting it out is the only way to deal with it, even if that means crying all day or staying in bed with a tub of icecream. I have a very different stress and heartache going on, but I was still worried about the affects on the babies. Everything I've read said that you should allow yourself to feel what you need to feel and the baby will be just fine. Just make sure you are getting rest and eating properly. We are here for you.

Whitlockan - Of course, we don't know all the details of your situation here so I hate to give too much advice that could be inapplicable to your situation. However -- I think the advice that others have given about talking to a therapist is wonderful; I hope you decide to do that. I also hope you seek out the support of your parents during this time of trouble. They can be a wonderful resource for you.

MommyinPA - I think most of us are pretty understanding about typos, but if they bother you, feel free to go back in and edit your post to fix 'em. If I haven't edited a post for typos 6 times I probably left 6 in there. :p

Betsyboop - I don't think you look "like crap" ... I think you look fantastic! :D

Re: Tummy Sleeping - I'm normally a side sleeper -- and bonus -- I'm a left side sleeper! Who knew that I'd do something 'right' even before I started the pregnancy. I recently bought a Snoogle at BRU and man, what a great purchase! If you're up for spending $50 on a pillow, and need help sleeping on your side, it may help you fall asleep in the right position.

((Hugs)) to all of you who are in stressful situations right now. I hope you get some relief soon.

Sleeping- I am a tummy sleeper too, and now I have a snoogle pillow. I use it to prop up half of my body and sometimes to sleep on my side. I always wake up on my back with my foot asleep, so I know I shouldn't be doing that. It stresses me out, but I do it in my sleep!

Janey (I assume that it's you who updated the thread) - That's fine about the last two pictures. I just posted the 8w again because it shocks me how much I've grown in the past five weeks, and I wanted to see a comparison. Thanks :)

ETA: Went ahead and created a Flickr set of my belly shots. Here's the link:Tandis's belly shots (http://www.flickr.com/photos/tandis1/sets/72157594294348747/) Let me know if it doesn't work since I've never used Flickr before :)

Whitlocken ~ my heart goes out to you! I completely agree with everyone else, but want to add to make sure you put yourself and your baby first! I wasn't pg, but when I was 24 my then h walked out on me. I was absolutely devestated! I was as nice as I could be throughout the entire process, but the only thing being nice got me was screwed even more in the end. Do whatever you have to to provide for you and your baby and don't worry about him because he isn't worring about you! I will also tell you that it was without a doubt the lowest and most difficult point of my life, but if I had the chance to go back and change things I wouldn't change a thing. I grew so much as a person, and going through that time made me who I am today and allowed me to have the incredible happiness and love I do now. It will take time, but I promise you that one day you will look back and actually be happy this happened because without it you won't have whatever wonderfulness lies ahead for you. In the meantime it hurts and it is so terribly unfair. Just know that everything you are feeling is fine, that there is no way for you to understand why and that is nothing that you did or did not do. Vent away, cry, feel whatever you need to and let it all out, but don't ever feel ashamed. Lean on the people who love you, because they really are there for you and remember that we are all here for you too! Lots of hugs!!!

Whitlockan: I'm so sorry to hear about your situation. I don't have much to add from what the other ladies said, but I will re-stress that this is a pregnancy board, and part of your pregnancy is going to be dealing with the stress you're going through. If you need to talk about it here, do it! We're all here for you.

MommyinPA, you crack me up. Does your mommy know you're pretending to be a pregnant lady on the internet??

Snoogle: I bought one of these for my previous pregnancy, and while I loved it for a while, after a bit it just got to be too bulky. If we had a king bed, it might be different. I might have to drag it back out for a while, whether DH likes it or not! My arms have been falling asleep since I've been sleeping on my side.

Happy1nuv: I am not taking my prenatals right now either. I took one yesterday and I was green all day. I guess I'm just not able to handle them yet. :(

Nanner: You totally caught onto me. I better get back to class. Don't tell my mom!!!!! :D

Ugh, I've had a cold, too, since Sunday night! My son gave it to me, and we're both cranks this week. :) I hope you start feeling better soon!

Thanks ladies for all the wonderful thoughts and advice, it really helps to pick me up off the floor somtimes. In the meantime though I do have a lawyer, which I'm not trying to fight or play dirty but I'm not going to mess around, he is one of the best lawyers in the state of MD a shark of sort, never lost an divorce case let alone an adultry case and wrote the MD child support laws, so he knows the ins and outs of everything I'm entitled to and this ressures me nothing will be missed. I have turned to my parents and they are there to keep me level headed and to make sure I dont turn around and give up when things dont work out with his other woman, believe me I told him he has made his decision and there is no turning back!! I'll keep you posted on how things go but I wont subject you to this everday, I'll leave that for my journal. Thanks to all and I'm sorry and praying for all who are in a very stressful situation as well. {hugs to everyone}

None! It's my third. If I don't know it by now, I'm screwed.

None but I wouldn't mind touring the hospital since they just finished a 2 year remodel! And I've only been to this hospital for labwork, not to give birth. 3 different babies, 3 different hospitals for me. :)

With my first pregnancy I just took one class that included a hospital tour, birth class and infant care. I don't think it covered breastfeeing but on our second day home after having the baby a home healthcare nurse came over (we left the hospital after 24 hours so it was free) and helped show me positions and latch which was helpful.

None. I am having a c-section so have no interest in childbirth classes. We have a store here called Mother's Haven that offers a ton of classes but I think the only one I will be taking is CPR. I had my certification years ago but it's time to do it again.

classes I'd love to take a refresher Lamaze class, but can't find one and I'm not sitting through 6 weeks of repeating. Other than that, nothing. I did take Breastfeeding, Infant Care and Lamaze the first time around though and they were WONDERFUL!

Doc Appointment Update I had my 16 week check today. All was well. It wasn't the regular doctor, it was the retired guy that helps him out. My protien was normal, BP normal...my weight is up 3 lbs according to them. But they didn't say anything about that. The baby is measuring on target by the uterus measurements and the baby's heartrate was 160, same as last time. It was a pretty uneventful appointment. I'm really having no issues (other than Ragu spaghetti sauce aversion), so it was easy. I got my script for the 20 week ultrasound!!!!!!!! I'm so excited. I was even more excited when I found out they will do evening appointments for the ultrasound! Joe can go this way and probably Edward too (although we'll see about his mood that day, if he's grumpy he can go with A'ma (grandma)). I'm so excited. It's not until October 10th, but still, i get to see the baby again! YIPEE!!!

DS stayed home from this appointment with my brother who's off this week for vacation. They did great, I was a bit concerned as my brother doesn't like 'bathroom duty" but DS was kind enough to save the poopy potty for me when I got there. I thought that was nice of him. My brother will be babysitting for us next Friday so we can take my parents and my husband's parents on a dinner/dance cruise in Pittsburgh. So, knowing that things went so well today, I'm more okay with next week. My brother is great in general, but I was unsure of how it would go until today. I think they'll be just fine.
