Wow, it definately is a close race between Team Blue and Team Pink!!!

Whit ~ I love the name!!

Whit - I like the name!

Lady1297 - Oh, how scary! Glad you turned around and everything was okay.

Dollface - You look fantastic!

Brink - You look fantastic as well! I've been hoping you would post a belly shot picture, just so I could compare myself to you :D I think we're looking about the same - aka, very pregnant! ;)

*****************

Finally got batteries for my camera, so here's my 19w belly shot. I never think I'm that big until I see the picture

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m21/tandis1/IM000778.jpg

And this time I'm including a picture of the front, so you all can check out my sexy stretch mark! :p (LOL, now that I've made the picture smaller, it's not as noticeable! But for those of you looking, it's near my belly button, at the beginning of my appendix scar)

Whit - I like the name as no one can go wrong when it includes Aiden (the sexiest man ever on Sex in the City)!!

Tandis - I would say that is one cute belly!! DH commented last night that mine has really popped since the weekend.

We also have our name squared away and I am really glad as it seems that as it feels more personal now. We refer to her by her name and it just appears that DH is becoming more use to the situation!! Our final choice is - Mackenzie Danielle (the middle name is after my dear friend that died this July 4th).

Hope all is well ladies and that everone has a great weekend. I will be gone next week for work as it is getting near the end of my travel season and we have a fair amount of site work that needs to get done!!

Danalou: Love your name choice! I am excited to find out what we are having (hopefully) on Saturday so we can name s/he and make it more "real"!

Tandis: Look at that belly! Love it!

Goldengbridge: How fun is that to be in the "girl" section?! I was at a store yesterday buying stuff for my boys and I peered briefly into the girls section. It almost seemd unnatural for me to be there, so I quickly retreated ;)

Danalou ~ Love the name. One of my best friends is named Danielle too :) And, how awesome that you are honoring your friend that way...

I don't know if anyone watched Oprah yesterday, but they mentioned how your waist size is more of an indicator of your health than your weight. So it got me wondering what my waist is up to now. I just measured and it's 34"! That's 2" bigger than you should be for a healthy woman, but I'm sure you don't have to go by that when your pregnant:p

I was looking ahead at my week-by-week pregnancy book earlier and I was SHOCKED to learn that I'll be starting the 3rd trimester the day before Thanksgiving! That seems so soon!! Where has the time gone?

I love the names everyone has picked out so far! Of course, it makes me realize that we have to get going on that decision...

Tandis- I'm the same way- I never realize how big I've gotten until I see a side view picture of my belly. So funny!

My family got together for dinner last night to celebrate my sister's birthday and my mom also got me a present too- a winter coat I can wear while pregnant. Has anyone else gotten a coat yet? This is sort of the one she got for me, but mine is chocolate brown and hip length:

http://a1216.g.akamai.net/f/1216/955/6h/images2.nordstrom.com/ImageGallery/store/Product/Medium/15/_5303475.jpg

I think it'll work because there's really a good amount of room in there right now, plus the front doesn't button up or anything, it just overlaps and there's just the one button at the top holding it together. As long as my neck doesn't get any fatter, I think I'm all set:p

Well, I'm off to get a pedicure in preparation for our trip to Spain! We leave tomorrow, so I won't be back to post for a week or so. I hope everyone has a good week:)

Betsy- That is one cute coat! I'm hoping my regular everyday coat fits althrough, it has a lot of give to it. If not, I have a pretty shawl coat that will work. Have fun in Spain!

dana- Love the name!!

Whit- That is a great combination for a boy's name!

Tandis- What scare me is that my tummy is about that big and I only have one cooking in there! So cute!

Tummy popping- DH commented about this too last night! He was rubbing 'budha' and said how big it's getting. I laughed and reminded him to be careful what he said, i am pregnant, you know!!

Tandis

Hee, thanks ladies! :D You always make me feel good about my big ole belly ;)

Popping - I think I popped at around 16w. DH commented around that time how much bigger I suddenly looked, and I've already outgrown one pair of maternity pants!

Coats - My MIL gave me a swing coat that's a little tight in the shoulders, but the thing is freakin' huge in the waist! I already look to be about nine months pregnant when I wear it because it's so huge, so I think I have plenty of space to grow.

Betsy - Have fun in Spain!

Danalou - Beautiful name, and what a nice way to remember your friend.

MommyinPA

Popping: Oh jesus, I am huge. The past 2 weeks I really am popping!

Betsy: I like the coat! Have a blast in Spain.

My ultrasound in in 22 hours, and 20 minutes :) I will not be able to report in until Monday, as I cannot sign in from my computer at home. I have no idea why, but if you have any ideas..let me know! I can read..I just can't post.

Whit & Dana - great name choices! We have about 4 names picked out but will decide when he is born.

Coat - I bought this wool coat at Gap Maternity last week and love it!

MommyinPA - Try clearing your cache & any cookies for constantchatter.com and www.constantchatter.com and try logging in again. That might help.

Dollface - Cute coat! Did you have to buy it online or was it in the store? I saw Old Navy has a cute peacoat for $78 and I just might go ahead and get that but we're going to fly to B's HQ for a big meeting next week and the only coat I have is a men's XL fleece jacket that says "SAN JUAN ISLANDS" on the breast. :P I'd really like to have something that makes me look a little more put together before the trip!

Janey - I saw it online and luckily they had it in-store as well. I got an XS and it fits true to my pre-pregnancy size. I have always been an XS or 1-2 at Gap and all their maternity fits as well as their pre-preg stuff did.

ETA: I did order a maternity denim jacket from Old Navy in my pre-preg size and unfortunately - their stuff is not sized well. I couldn't even get my arms in it which is weird because most of their other XS stuff fits me well. Maybe just their outerwear is sized strange?

I have a question for you ladies, and I don't know if anyone would knows.

Smoked salmon is on the "do not eat" list, right? Is there such a thing as cooked smoked salmon, and if so, would it be okay to eat? I have this major craving for smoked salmon, that just popped up out of nowhere! Now I have to have it - and we all know what happens when you deny a pregnant woman ;)

Janey
11-04-2006, 01:25 PM
From what I understand, the danger with Smoked Salmon is listeria (http://www.about-listeria.com/) ... so it goes in the same category as soft cheeses and stuff from the deli case. Listeriosis is very rare (2,500 cases per year in the US) but it's a big deal if you get it while you're pregnant. You're probably okay to eat smoked salmon, just as you're probably okay to eat a Subway sandwich. Just get it from a trusted source.

If you can find canned smoked salmon, that'd probably be better than "Fresh" smoked salmon as I'm pretty sure in order to can stuff it has to be cooked. Tandis, if you're truly desperate in your cravings ;) and like jalapenos, I will send you a small jar of canned smoked salmon that my dad smoked and canned himself. No listeria there, I'm sure.

Dollface - Thanks for the tips on the jackets! I will be going downtown tomorrow to check them out. I hope my broad-ass shoulders don't screw me over in my hunt for a new coat!

I don't have an answer for you Tandis but another question/observation. I've been having a craving for tuna fish. I had read in a magazine that canned tuna was alright, but knowing it was on the "moderate" list my Dr gave me I decided to ask her how moderate "moderate" meants. She advised me that one tuna fish sandwich a month is moderate. Ack! Just curious what anyone else had heard. Given what my Dr said I'll likely just stear clear but still curious of what other's had heard.

Jackets.... Living in Texas it doesn't get so cold that I need such a heavy winter coat so I bought this one on Old Navy. Hopefully I can get through the winter with this and layering :D

Miaclear - I crossposted with you! :p About Tuna (well, and salmon, but smoked salmon also has the listeria situation to deal with)... the risk is Mercury. Light tuna is better than Albacore tuna on the scale of mercury, so if you want a tuna sandwich, go with the Light. Here are two good links for telling you about the risks of Mercury in different types of fish:

What You Need to Know about Mercury in Fish and Shellfish (http://www.epa.gov/waterscience/fishadvice/advice.html)
Mercury Levels in Commercial Fish and Shellfish (http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/%7Efrf/sea-mehg.html)

(Yeah I did a lot of fish research upon getting pregnant cause we're big fish eaters up here in the northwest!! :p)

Dollface LOVE that coat!

Coats I'm still hanging tight to my current coat, its a fall knee length (I hesitate to say "trench") coat but its working for the temperatures now, besides I'm going to try to get as much use out of it as I can since my mom paid 500.00 + for it this summer, its super cute and I fits so well. I always try to buy my coats from Coach because the fit is amazing and they are so classy, I wish I had a picture of this one its so darn adorable that I cant even part with it yet, (but it still fits fine, not a tacky fit).

BEWARE, minor ramble
I have such a Coach obsession (NONE of it has logos on the outside, I dont like to promote with the rest of the world instead I like to be a classy put together business lady) but I think this may be the end of the belts, shoes, coats, purses and wristlets........dressing baby will be so much more fun and besides why is my mom going to want to buy me that stuff now when she will have an adorable grandson to play dress up with.

Fish okay I know I'm not suppose to have it but I have had about 5 BK fishes in the past month (october), is that bad? I dont even clasify BK fishes as "real fish" its probably so over processed and half immitation anyways. I mean I'm still alive, healthy and baby is healthy, but I think I'm at the end of the cravings for that anyways.

Today I went shopping, not for the sole purpose of making baby clothing purchases but then most of it was 75%+ off so I thought why not grab a few now, the less I have to pay full price for the better, besides most of the spring/summer clothes are super clearanced and baby will be here just in time for those seasons! So the question for some ROs out there and anyone else who wants to chime in, I want to know did I get a good deal on the following:

Koala baby:
Plaid Jumper w/ball cap 3-6 months: was 16.99 now:6.60
Puppy dog onzie 3-6 months: 6.99 (regular price had to have it, so darn cute)

Carter baby:
3 sleep and play (2) 3 & (1) 6months: was 14.00 ea now:6.90 ea
2 onzies 3 months: was: 11.99 now: 4.60 ea
OshKosh onzie 3-6 months: was: 12.99 now: 3.00

Gap:
Jumper 3-6 months: was 29.50 now: 9.97
Onzie 6-12 months: was: 12.50 now: 5.99
Onzie 0-3 months: was: 12.50 now: 3.99
Rugby onzie 3-6 months: was 12.50 now: 4.97
GAP onzie 0-3 months: was 12.50 now: 4.99
fleece jacket 3-6 months: was 16.50 now: 4.99
kahki chinos 6-12 months: was 24.50 now: 13.97

*none of these were "plain prints" all had images and what not on them*

So since I dont know how the prices on this stuff work, should I have waited for it to come down even lower? Or did I buy at a good price? I want to get a feel for it, because man when your shopping the baby sale rack for the first time everything seems so cheap when your used to seeing higher prices for people like me.

Sorry for the long post ladies.....

I want to get a feel for it, because man when your shopping the baby sale rack for the first time everything seems so cheap when your used to seeing higher prices for people like me.

IME, given the stores, the prices you got were about as low as the usually go. You can go other places even cheaper if you know how to time it. But for practicality sake, yes you got pretty good deals.

Some examples of even cheaper places to shop ...
Children's Place: They have an end of season sale. That is good. Then they have an end of end of season sale which is excellent. I got some madras rompers for $1.49 for DS. At the first of the two sales, they would have been $4.99 or so. The downside is that the selection is limited. The rompers were originally about $14.

Old Navy: They are more touch and go with sales and depends on the store you visit. My ON does not have super sales but if you watch the clearance racks for buying in advance you can score some great deals of cute clothes. For example, I got DS a cute chocolate brown romper with a bee on it for $0.99 and some little blue pants for $0.99. They were both about $8-10 regularly.

One store to watch for is Gymboree. When their lines are good, they are very good. This winter, not as good. But you can get some better quality/designed clothes for cheaper during their Baby Days Sales, their Gymbucks sales, and their Circle of Friends. I got some nicer tees for DD this winter for $7.00 and cute leggings for $9. Again, a little higher than the 2 previous stores but their designs are cuter.

Have fun. It is so much harder to resist buying for the kids than for myself!

Thanks Janey. I've been craving subs too (I think it all has to do with the fact that it's forbidden, so I want it ;) ), so I might have to add smoked salmon to my list of foods to eat after the babies are born. Thanks for the offer, that was really sweet of you, :D but I can't stand any type of peppers. I guess I'll just have to keep my eye out for something, or hope the craving passes soon - which I think it will because today I really want a Thanksgiving dinner ;) :D

foods- Second pregnancy seems to come with less worrying. I ate two meals yesterday of lunch meat (we got meat platters from the grocery store for my brother and husbands birthday party). Guess I feel it's not a big deal. I'm still here! And I ate lunch meat all through my son's pregnancy, daily in my lunches. As for the salmon, have you tried the frozen kind (like near the fish sticks?). You have to heat it up, so it should be find if cooked to whatever temp fish should be heated to. Hope that works out for you.

foods ~ I had a sub sandwich just about every day during my first pregnancy. My favorite sub place was right across the street from where I worked so the temptation was too great. I asked my midwife if it was ok and she said "of course!". So I never thought twice about it. This pregnancy I've had some pan seared tuna and have been known to sneak a bite (or five) of cookie dough when I'm making cookies. I do stay away from the higher mercury fish like swordfish but other than that I eat what I want, in moderation of course. ;)

Kindermom- Gymboree is my obsession:rolleyes: I think I'm going to need to get a job once this little is born!

Lunch meat- I was told lunch meat is ok in moderation but I do try to stay away from it since the risk of infection is always there. But thats just me and I'm overly paranoid because of my prior loss.

I really need to take a belly shot. I suddenly look really pregnant! I'll have to do that this week!

MrsKinnison

Fish ~ I was told that one can a week of tuna was fine. Actually, I think that is the guideline pg or not for solid white tuna because of the mercury. Chunk light you can have 2 cans a week (not pg) but it just isn't as good! Basically, just tuna, sword, tile (real big fish) are on the no-no list, but the others are really good for you and you can eat as much as you want. I have been craving sushi & can not wait to have some!!! I've been doing cooked maki, but it just isn't the same!

Lunchmeat ~ I used to have the occassional sub, but then I got sick after eating one (probably totally by coincidence as it was shortly after mexico) and that was the end of it for me. I figure its just not worth the risk. I do love grilled ham & cheese though, and we've had some really good turkey pastrami lately too. Those I don't mind heating up!

Coat ~ I think I am definately going to need to get one, it is getting pretty cold here real fast!!! I'm hoping I find something really cute for not too much money, everything I like seems to be really expensive. Guess I just have good taste :D

Fish....Janey....thanks for the information. It's always hard to think it's ok to do something when your Dr specifically told you no. Of course she also told me to stick to 6oz of soda a day and some days I have as much as 24oz. I don't think I'm going to worry so much about my canned chunk light tuna as much now and start enjoying it at.... especially since it says right on the can that it's a good source of omega 3 fatty acids. And I hate those suppliments!

Subs/lunchmeat...I've been enjoying these whenever I feel like it. My Dr said to just make sure I'm buying from a known source and if I've ever gotten sick from them in the past to not buy from them now. Well I've never gotten sick from lunch meat so I'm not too worried.

Clothes!...it was my birthday this weekend and I got some giftcards for Motherhood Maternity (which I guess you can use at Pea in a Pod as well) so I get to buy some new clothes!!!! I'm already in need of a new Bella Band. I was hesitant to buy one since there were such mixed reviews but I love mine and wear it almost daily to keep my pants up!

Nursery....we got the new ceiling fan/light fixture up and I started clearing out the room! We leave on vacation in just a week and a half for T-day and won't be back till the end of November. Then my parents are here Dec 22nd so we'll be starting to paint and get it all together, with hopefully the furniture! So we need to get rolling on cleaning it out, especially the closet. Actually I have a LOT of work to do before Christmas since I have a list a mile long for my parents to do ;)

WOW, I'm way far behind. DH and I just got back being gone for a week. My grandfather passed away last Friday, so we spent all weekend through Tuesday in Wichita with that (the funeral was on Tuesday) and then we flew out to Las Vegas on Wednesday and just got back yesterday. I'm just trying to take things easy and rest now... the baby and I were all kinds of stressed out this past week, I'm sure.

I do have good news, though... DH finally felt the baby move for the first time! He was so excited!! :)

I have my next doctor's appointment tomorrow (Monday) afternoon at 3:45. Hopefully we will be able to schedule the big u/s then! :)

Back from vacation and it looks like there Team Blue got a lot more members. Congratulations Mochi, Shimmerstar, and whitlockan! Pewee, sorry you couldn't tell the gender but we're happy to have you with us on Team Green.

Sorry for no more shout outs but I'm so far behind I think I'd forget almost everyone.

Loving all of the belly shots. I just look fat in mine. :( Seriously, I've gained so much weight on the sides and in my back.

I finally told work that I'm pregnant and surprisingly only one person suspected. Most of the comments I got were "You're how far along? You can't even tell." I've gotten a bunch more comments like that from other people this week. My friend, who I saw for the first time in years, didn't even bring up my pregnancy until I said something because she was afraid something had happened. She's two weeks ahead of me but she looks like she's two months ahead (it's her second, though). I've gained lots of weight but I guess since it's more or less evenly distributed throughout my torso, most people can't tell there's a baby in there. I thought I popped at 19 weeks, but I guess it was just bloat. :o Oh well, I'm sure I'll have a big belly for long enough.

I dragged DH to BRU to pick out a shower gift for some friends. We were so overwhelmed. I've been starting to put together a list of all of the stuff we want.

Twice now this baby has kicked hard enough to feel from the outside, but both times dh was no where near... I hope that doesn't mean that this baby is gonna be another mama's child... Daddy really needs some lovin... :)

About the fish... I've eaten tuna a few times. I only eat half a can at a time (which makes my dog SUPER happy) and only when I really crave it... but, its so yummy! No clue about smoked salmon... (do you know anyone with a smoker where you could smoke it yourself?)

Same here! I always tell him and by the time he gets his hand over there, the baby stopped moving.

Married, I'm sorry to hear about your grandpa.

Last night I started feeling cramps down low, and my stomach got really hard. It only happened twice when I was awake, and I think once in the night. Are these BH? They actually hurt and I think my muscles are sore from them.

I have an u/s on wednesday, so unless they get steadier I'm not going to do anything, but I was surprised by them.

Happy Monday!

I tried posting from home to no avail. Looks like y'all might not be hearing from me for a while when I am out on maternity leave!

Whitlockan: You must be having so much fun buying stuff for your first baby. Sounds like you got some great buys!

Kindermom: I love the Children's Place! I buy most of my older son's clothes there. They have adjustable waistbands, which rock. I did get the boys matching outfits for their Xmas pictures at Gymboree and they were adorable, but WAY too expensive. I LOVE their clothing, but it's just not worth the cost, unless you have a lot fo GYmbucks to spend!

Shimmerstar: It definately sounds like Braxton Hicks! I have had the same thing happening off and on for the past 3 weeks. Each pregnancy I seem to get them earlier and earlier. Mine always have some discomfort associated with them too.

Marriedagoalie: Sorry about your grandpa. :( Your picture is adorable. I am SO not a cute pregnant person!

Littlemia: Thanks for sharing your U/S pics. They came out really good! Mine are all a bit fuzzy.

Buffy: You can so tell we are both "third time moms". I eat what I want in moderation too. I don't get too worked up about having a sandwich once in a while from the deli. I am cautious about what I eat, but I also don't stress very much. I used to work for the Health Department and know most of the risks associated with certain foods so that helps too.

My "big" news is.......I am still on Team Green! The baby is still breech, with legs crossed tightly, AND a ton of cord between the legs. The tech was very nice and tried for a long time. I go back this Wednesday for a free recheck, though I am not expecting any different news :( If we don't find out Wednesday, we're resigned to the fact of having a surprise. All the tech said was "I have a guess, but I don't want to get your hopes up". What the heck is that supposed to mean?!

MommyinPA....sorry baby is being stubborn, but hey at least you still have something to look forward to, seriously the next day after finding out I woke up and I'm like okay now what, what suprises are left, I was sorta disappointed even though I'm a HUGE planner.

Mommyin PA, that's exactly what our tech said. I wanted to say, so what's your guess???? But restrained myself. ;) Meanies!

shimmer-yeah, BH! Welcome to the club!!

marriedagoalie-you are just too cute!!

me-I feel like I'm so fat. I'm up 17 pounds. I seriously need to stop eating crappy food. Sigh. I need ideas and suggestions, seriously. I think I need to go back to my Curves diet plans for menu ideas (not for diet purposes, but snack suggestions that are healthier than snickers bars!).

Married....haha I know what you mean, we have a Touareg and oh my gosh I didnt know of these boards that existed for them and these guys are nuts, they list there model year, model color and any other specs as there signature, they are nice trucks but its funny how they are......as bad as jeep owners. Great resource to go for though when you need or want to make a modification to yours.

Ok I'll post back to back, I've been thinking about this and I know we've already talked about it but I didnt pay much attention to it since I didnt think I would experience it.

Round Ligament Pain the past 2 days I've had this sharp pain (mostly when I breathe) that starts just under my belly button and will go down to one side of my vigina....is that what this is considered? I'm clueless, but its only in certain positions or when pressure is applied to certain areas.

Also I'm extremely sad.......I just read one of my weekly updates for 21 weeks since I'll be there on Wednesday and it says at this point the comfortable part of your pregnancy is over......:( I was starting to like this point at which I was, not having physical symptoms hardly, I felt great!! Now (started this weekend), ugh I always feel like I'm breathing really deep for a good breath, I'm sure its all just from my lungs getting crunched in there with everything else. I just cant believe we are in November and I pretty much only have 19 weeks to go........thats insane it goes by so darn fast!!

We had our latest appt. today. They confirmed they are definitely girls. Their cords look good so far and the babies are both measuring right about 14oz. So, all is good so far. I check into the hospital in 3 weeks - I'm counting down the days.

Food - I'm pretty good about saying away from the no-no food, but today I broke down and had two corn dogs!

Brink, I'm glad everything looked good with your little girlies.

lady- I have been eating horrendously. I should be taken to mommy jail. I can not stay away from the candy, and if I don't want candy, I want chips. I tried not keeping any candy in my classroom, but I go looking for it and someone always has some.

I did force down three salads this week, though. That's more than I've eaten through the whole pgcy! And I eat soup, which has some veggies in it. I know I will show a huge gain this month! And I was doing really well, too.

I've been doing better with water, though, since I heard it helps with BH. And so far today I haven't had any.

mommyinpa- Sorry you didn't get to find out. But a free recheck sounds promising to me!

lady1297: Aww... so sweet! :)

whitlockan: Oooh... I really want a Touraeg, but we can't afford one right now! Maybe someday! :)

Brink: So glad to hear both girls are doing well. Why are you checking into the hospital so early? Just curious...

I had a doctor's appointment today too. The baby's heartbeat was 140 and my blood pressure was 100/70. It also looks like I've gained about 5 lbs so far (but I'm not sure how accurate that is... my first appointment I had already lost some weight, so I'm thinking I've only gained about 2-3 lbs so far). We scheduled our big u/s (if we decide to find out) for November 20th (2 weeks from today). I also have my regular checkup on December 18th. :)

I think I bought a coat today. I decided with all of this rain that we're having (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2003352396_flood06m.html) that it might be nice if I got a coat with a hood, which neither the Gap nor the ON coats have. So I went to JC Penney & Sears hoping to find one that wasn't too expensive. I got a plus-sized, double breasted black wool peacoat with a hood for $84 -- about the same price as the Old Navy coat. I think it'll be okay because a) there's still room to grow in it and b) if I get too much bigger I can just button the top button and leave the bottom ones unbuttoned and I'll still have some coat across my belly since it's double-breasted. So that drama is over - yay. :)

Also while out shopping at the grocery store today, I dropped a frozen turkey on my toes (which I realize sounds sort of funny so go ahead and laugh) and it HURT then and it STILL hurts. Argh.

So I have a QOTD:
Has anybody bought Bursing Bras yet? RO's, do you have a favorite brand? If so, tell me all about 'em.
While at JC Penney today I also tried on a Nursing Bra. In the "3rd Trimester Packet" from the OB it says I should wear the nursing bra with the flaps down around the house in order to prepare the nipples. I figured what the heck, it couldn't hurt. So I tried on a Playtex one at JC Penney, and didn't like it. Then I got all the way to the onramp to the freeway only to discover they had it closed off  , which put me going the wrong way down the interstate but dropped me right in Target's back yard so I tried some on there too (Liz Lange brand). Didn't like any of them though.

I have an updated belly shot which I put in the front page but I'll also put here just for grins... the bambino is giving conflicting messages, so we'll just have to wait a little while longer.

In other news: I'M ABOUT TO HIT THE THIRD TRIMESTER! This freaks me out for more reasons than I can say, but it also means that I'm going to be creating the THIRD TRIMESTER THREAD in about 2 weeks. We have less than 1,000 posts so I don't feel a huge urgency to do it quite yet but it's coming up pretty quickly! Is there anything that anyone would like to include? Have any suggestions that you think would make the 3rd trimester thread better than the second? Post it here, or PM either Janey or the March2007Mommies username and let us know.

Hi Janey- I know your due at the end of Feb but I don't think alot of us will be reaching the 3rd tri for quite some time yet. You can certainly start a new thread but I know won't be hitting that mark for quite some time yet and I'm due in the beginning of the month.

MommyinPA ~ oh that sucks! I hope you are able to find out at your next appointment!

MarriedaGoalie ~ you do look very cute! I haven't even taken a belly pic yet because I hate how mine looks.

whitlockan ~ I'm not sure I ever felt RL pain so I can't help you there. Sometimes I feel a pulling sensation on one side and I assume that's it.

Brink ~ I'm so glad everything is going well with the girls! You are getting so close!

shimmerstar ~ yep when I was pg with #2 I asked my midwife if it was ok that I was feeling tons of BH when I was working out. She told me I'm probably just dehydrated so now I make a point to drink lots of water while I'm at the gym and I don't feel nearly as many BH. Water helps!

Janey ~ your belly has definitely grown in the last few weeks! I think mine has too, I suddenly feel HUGE! I never bought a new coat when I was pregnant and just did what you said towards the end - buttoned the top one and not the rest. I was biggest in January so it was cold but I was warm anyway from being very pregnant so it was all good!

3rd trimester ~ so when does this start anyway? I was always under the impression that it wasn't until 28 weeks but I don't know if that's right. If that's true I have another month to go. I don't know, maybe we could start a new thread at the beginning of December?

ETA nursing bras ~ I have a couple from Mimi Maternity I really like. I go for the no underwire, no padding nursing bras. I'm all about comfort! I do have one from Target, it's a sports bra, that isn't too bad either.

............

I had my appointment on Tuesday and all looks good. My OB was supposed to be in emergency surgery but came back to do my appointment quick so it seriously took about a minute and a half. My weight gain was huge - up 17 pounds since my first appointment but add at least another 5 onto that since my first appointment wasn't until 9 1/2 weeks. My OB was very happy with it though so whatever. She thinks I should be in the 40-50 pound gain range because of my starting weight and it looks like I'm right on track for that! :D Baby's heartbeat was good and moving around and my blood pressure was good. She told me she's not going to do the glucose test on me, anyone else's OB not going to do it? With my 2nd pregnancy my midwife told me it was optional so I didn't have it done then either. What I need to do is start laying off the Halloween candy...

Next appointment is Dec. 1

Re: Third Trimester... I am reading a book that is telling me it's 25 weeks? But maybe that is wrong?? Like I said I'm not in a huge hurry but when I saw that "25 weeks" thing it made me think of the new thread. We're still a while away from 1,000 posts but when we get closer to that mark we'll need to start a new thread to anyhow keep the CC admins happy since there are database issues when a thread gets over 1,000 posts. Anyhow I'm hoping that two events will coincide pretty well, and we can start the 3rd Trimester thread at that point whenever that is.

Janey your looking good!!!

Married last I'll say about the treg, since I'm sure most are tired of hearing about it.....haha no seriously wait until you can get the V8 loaded w/air suspension or heck now that import taxes are lower the V10 TDI (which is cheaper than the V8 now), they are completley worth the money (I know pretty darn expensive), my husband wouldnt touch it unless it was the V8 fully loaded with air suspension, and I see why its AMAZING, but its the only way you can get the full benefit/experience of the vechile and a *true* off road one at that. Anyways........Good luck with the Nov. 8th, I hope your little one cooperates.........I'm sure your very excited, but do you have any nervousness towards it as well? I was very nervous, and sat in the lobby contemplating if by finding out if I was doing the right thing, it was so scary because I had my heart sat on a boy but prepared for a girl emotionally.

Buffy thats awesome your ob went out of the way to at least spend a moment with you, thats one dedicated doctor. Oh man oh man I really hope they dont do the glucose test on me because I know what will happen....ekkkk I'll hit the floor cause it will cause my sugar to spike then drop fast (yes thats what they want to happen to find out if you are hypo or hyper glycemic)....oh man maybe I'll get lucky they havent said anything to me about this yet.

QOTD: Nursing Bras
OMG  its time to start thinking about this stuff already, man if I was not here I would really not know what the heck to do!! I guess I'll have to give my nice comfy VS bra and soon transition into the life of having a newborn nursing. I know for sure though when I try to find one, I'll go for a padded with underwire, most of which now are plastic underwires.

3rd trimester If I did my math right I still have a whole month and half almost to go before I get to this point, Maybe we should start it for those early early on in March as there time nears.

Tonight when I get home I'll upload my belly pic that we shot as we rushed out the door this morning!! I've got a belly and today I had to wear my first empire waist shirt.......I cannot stand the style of them but I broke down and bought one, I'm having a hard time adjusting, everyone keeps commenting on how "cute" it looks but gosh, I feel SUPER preggers now......

Good news, my parents bought us our highchair as my "shower gift", I got exactly what I wanted, well I was considering the rocking version then read it doenst do any good and hardly rocks so this is what I got:

Nursing bras ~ I HATED the walmart ones. They were ok the first few weeks of wear, but after ...oh, I'd guess maybe 8-10 washings (and I didnt dry them, hung them to dry)...they turned SOOO uncomfy. (and I had 4 of them do the same thing). I tried one from Target, but the one I bought was mislabeled and hugely uncomfy (it was padded and I didnt want a padded one... padded bras NEVER sit right on me...;( ). I ended up liking the non-underwire, non-padded motherhood ones. About 16.00 each, so not cheap...but not terribly expensive either. I only have 2 of those... will have to gt more before this baby arrives...

whitlockan: I know what you mean about the Tour. I don't think DH would buy one unless it was either a V8 or a V10, either. Of course we don't really need either in Oklahoma. :)

I don't think I'm nervous about the ultrasound... well, maybe a little bit. We still can't decide whether or not to find out... so that is stressful! ACK!

Wo, so much to catch up on and I have to get back to work so no time for much in the way of SOs but wanted to update: we're having a girl! I am sooooo excited. Does this put Team Pink in the lead now? :)

Someone said a couple pages back (whitlockan?) that she was sad to be 1/2way thru and that the comfiest part of pregnancy was over. True, but I am soo looking forward to feeling/watching this baby move! I've barely felt anything so far--just some flutters and a few soft thumps here and there. With DS, my DH and I could spend an evening just watching my belly. :o I can't wait to see a little foot or a little butt pushing out! Of course, talk to me again when I'm a few weeks away, uncomfortable, unable to sleep and getting the wind kicked outta me every 10 minutes or so. :p Grass is always greener, right?

Nursing bras I really like the bras I bought at Motherhood Maternity. Good prices (at least they were 2 1/2 years ago), comfy and they seem to hold up pretty well. Wearing one right now as a matter of fact. :)

A quick fly by post...
Nursing Bras - I preferred to wear Motherhood's thin cotton crossover bra for at night or around the house when I wanted to be comfy. They offer NO support though. For nursing, I hated the feel of the holes in my bra so I ended up wearing my regular demi cup bras and just lifted my breat out for nursing. Worked the same and was a lot more comfortable. You may want to check out the breastfeeding support thread for more recs though.

I always thought that was a sign of stretching skin. When my belly gets really scratchy, I lube it up with good lotion. HTH.

bras- I love tank bras for nursing. Your tummy stays comfy and warm and you aren't showing the world your tummy! But, be cautios because a lot of them give you a uni-boob look-not real sexy! But for around the house they were great. I have one from Walmart that was discontinued that didn't give the uni-boob look and it still fits great. I will be on the look out for more bras soon, since mine are just getting too tight in the band...booo...

itchy- yeah, just lube it up with your fav lotion! Good luck!

Nursing Bras ~ do I need to be looking into these all ready?? I am so clueless about these things!

Itching ~ so far not really, but I really lube up my belly and boobs every day! My left boob is definately bigger than my right. It always was, it just wasn't as noticable when they were little.

Nursing bras ~ duh! That makes so much sense, I am almost embarassed I never considered that because I desperately need to get new bra's since I am busting out of all of mine. So, is the size I am now about right or will I still get bigger??

lady1297
11-09-2006, 09:13 AM
Mrs. Kinnison- You will probably get bigger once your milk comes in, it all depends. You could look into getting some cheaper regular bras for now and then going again when you are almost ready to pop. Just a thought. I was a 36 B prepregnancy with #1, then up to a 40DD about a month after. During pregnancy I bought 38C bras....they worked, but not comfy all the time. It all depends. If you want nursing bras now, I' suggest getting a band size where you are hooking it as tight as you can to get the fit you want so you have room for your ribs to spread.

So exciting everyone is finding out sexes and more importantly Healthy Babies! I have been really busy getting certified to be a personal trainer for my side biz and then in NYC for 2 days for my full time job!

Nursing Bras - My vote on nursing bras is Bravado and the Target tanks tops!! Now I am very flat chested and didn't need to buy anything until after my milk came in! Day to day I live in cami tank tops! I would bring one to the hospital as I had my mom running out beause I didn't think of even packing or bringing one.

Names - Having a VERY hard time with this! Not loving any names or they are weird with my last name. Still in debate and feel like it might be until he actually gets here!!

Miaclear: Isn't it amazing to feel the baby from the outside? I can sit for hours in the evening and watch my belly jumping from the party going on in the inside. Just to let you know, I know that you posted in the pregnancy thread about going to the dentist and I just wanted to let you know that I went to the dentist yesterday to get two fillings replaced and the dentist said that it was perfectly safe while pregnant (safe for the pregnant ladies perhaps but when he came at me with the four needles and two different drills, the situation wasn't very safe for him!).

shimmerstar: Congrats on your boy!

whitlockan: You and your belly are too cute.

deelcie and MommyinPA: Congrats on the girls.

MrsKinnison: About the sizing of nursing bras...before I got pregnant for DD I was a c cup... I then went to a d when I was pregnant and than up to a DD while nursing. I stopped nursing about three months ago and have since gone down to a d again but being that I am pregnant again I am now a DD...not only that but I went from a 36 c to almost a 40 dd because my ribs expanded so much. I am down to a 38 right now but being that I am pregnant, I don't have any idea as to where the girls are going to go...I have nursing bras from DD but am planning on buying more once this baby arrives.
Anyway, I think I've gone on enough about my girls to you! :o

As for me... so far I am still feeling pretty good. A little achy when I sleep and my sciatic nerve has been up and down for the last few weeks but other than that I can't really complain. It does seem as though I have become a wee bit more emotional the last little bit though...poor DH. :o But really, who can blame me for being emotional...I had to go back to work full time after being on mat leave for 9 months, I have a 10 month old baby and I'm 22 weeks pregnant...I think I deserve a few crying sessions for no reason if I need them! But poor DH, he just doesn't understand crying for no reason!

Re: Nursing Bras MrsK - lady1297 is right - I've already bought new bras this pregnancy and don't want to buy more bras I can't use after pregnancy too! So that is the big reason for checking into them now. My current bras make me ache by the end of the night. :/

The other thing is that the 3rd trimester packet (I think this is also what made me think I was heading into the 3rd trimester next week - but they must've given me that information just so I'd have it before the next appointment) that the OB gave me said that it is good to buy a nursing bra during the 3rd trimester and wear it around the house with the flaps down in order to do some "Nipple Preparation." I've noticed my nipples are sooooooooooo sensitive, and think it might be a good idea to do that.

In any case, I bumped up a thread in the Parenting/0-18 months forum called Nursing Bra Questions... (http://www.constantchatter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2660) it had some good info in it before I bumped it and has gotten some more after. So I hope that helps.

As for sizing - I really like that the Bravado Bras (http://www.bravadodesigns.com/category.asp?ID=7) are sized S/M/L/XL rather than by Band/Cup. I'm hoping that means that they will stretch and shrink as I do while it's questionable how big I'm going to get. I found out that a good friend of mine bought a Bravado and it was too small for her, but the right size for me, so she is going to send it to me to try out.

Nursing Bras ~ I completely forgot I have a couple of Bravado nursing bras too. They are very comfortable and I mostly just wore them overnight. My boobs never got so big that I needed to wear a bra overnight but I was a leaker so it saved me from washing our sheets every day. :) As for size I went from a B cup pre-preg to a C cup preg to a D cup when my milk came in but not too long after I pretty much settled back at a C. I had my mom run out and buy me whatever size after we came home from the hospital because I didn't know, then bought a couple more once I wasn't so engorged anymore so I knew exactly what size to buy. I guess it didn't even cross my mind to buy nursing bras while pregnant, I just bought bigger regular ones. Which aren't bad to have around either when you go out without the baby and want to feel a little sexier. ;)

Honest opinions needed: We're still working on a name for our girl. My favorite one is Hannah. I love it, and DH loves it. The problem is, our last name starts with an H, too. Is it totally dorky for a name to alliterate like that? Would it remind you too much of a cartoon character? Porky Pig, Bugs Bunny, Huckleberry Hound, Penelope Pitstop, etc?

Dentist: From what I understand, it's the x-ray that you want to stay away from while pg. My dentist told me that getting a filling is just fine.

Thanks for all the congrats ladies! I don't have to tell y'all how exciting it is to find out and start planning for her! I admire all the Team Greeners. I tried. It wasn't for me, and I have no regrets about finding out. This will be a huge helping in renovating our second floor this winter, I can give away a ton of my boys clothes, and start buying girlie stuff! I actually got teary-eyed yesterday looking at my boy's little baby outfits and knowing that I am done using them. I am so excited about having a girl but I love my boys and it was a "moment" to realize I am parting with their baby stuff....forever! :::sniff::: I am nervous about being a mom to a girl! Boys are all I know! But it's also a dream come true :) I would not have changed their birth order at all if I could have picked!

Orion: I have also had some sciatic nerve issues! I hope you are okay. I know it stinks!

Marriedagoalie: Great news about the U/S. You'll be far enough along they should be able to tell you a lot easier what you are having! :)

Lady1297: I am guessing girl for you. Sounds like your ultrasound went a lot like mine!

Mrs K: When my milk came in, my boobs went up ANOTHER size! My bras range from size B to DD's! :)

Marriedagoalie thats great you will be able to have your family there with you......

MommyinPA awe dont make me cry.......and yeah there is hope for me afterall, I've always had small boobs, during pregnancy I FINALLY filled a "b" cup.....kind of embarassing :p

Nanner One of the guys I work with name is like that B*B, I dont think its wierd but I've never really thought about it.

Minor Vent
I guess I shouldn’t be complaining about this but I’m kind of getting sick of it, a lot of the partners that I work very closely with, even one who is 2 doors down from me, have casually talked to me over the past couple of days about flu shots or why I need to be home by 3:00 for packages that are being delivered for baby, they look at me in astonishment, what BABY, your pregnant, um yes I’m not just getting fat that fast, they are just like but you look AMAZING how are you pregnant your face or arms don’t show it………ugh honestly no one knows unless I tell them.....its frustrating because then I feel like I'm telling the same story over and over again from the very beginning.

names ~ I honestly don't think it's weird to have a first and last name start with the same letter. That's how my dad is, my DH's dad and brother and brother's little boy plus a cousin. What I have a problem with (for me personally, not for anyone else!) is the first name ending with the same letter the last name begins with. Our last name starts with a B and I won't even consider names that end in a closed mouth letter like B or M. I just can't get the names to flow well together when I say them. :D

As for guesses I need some time to think about it and right now I have a poopy diaper to deal with! :p

I apologize that I have not been posting in a while...work has been mad. Anyway, I have been keeping up with reading the postings, I just haven't had time to post myself. HOWEVER, today was the 20 week u/s and I have some news...My dh and I are having a GIRL. We were on team green, but at the last minute we decided to find out. So, put me down for team pink now. :) I have included an u/s pic from today. Her mouth is wide open on it. It is just a picture of her head and part of her upper body. She was facing my back so it was hard to get pictures. :( Maybe next time. She is weighing in at 11oz so far. :) I am still due sometime in late March. I do hope everyone is doing well. I am thrilled right now to know that the baby is doing great and showed no genetic markers at all. I am relieved. We were surprised to find out it was a girl though...we both thought for sure it was a boy. We are thrilled either way and now we only have to argue about girl names. :) Talk to you all soon.

MommyinPA: I would have agreed with you this morning, but now it turns out you were wrong. Good guess though. :)

Nanner: I love the name Hannah. One of my neice's is named Hannah and she is a beautiful person inside and out. I don't think it much matters if your last name starts with an H, as long as it sounds good to you with the name Hannah. That is what is important.

nanner ~ I agree that its not weird. I LOVE the name Isabella (too popular for me), but would call her Bella... and our last name starts with B...I kinda really liked it. BUT, there are a bunch of B names that I refuse to even consider. So, I wouldn't negate the name JUST because it begins with an H... as long as it sounds ok to you all together... and, you can always do something like Hannah Anne or something to take away the double H...

Wow ieducate - that is a really cool picture.

Orion - LOL. I understand the need to cry. If I were you, I would probably cry too much. Your hormones barely had time to get back to normal (if they did at all). :o

Whitlockan - When you think you can not get any bigger, you will! I am the opposite now at work about people knowing I am pg. Tonight my office had an open house so all employees were out and wandering. I had soooo many people make comments. It does not help that most know that I also have a 15 month old at home. So those are really fun comments.

Eli - I like that name. DH hates it so it is out for us. But I think it is cool.

Names - We are going with Henry. We are undecided on a middle name though. We like Henry Porter. But tonight my sister said that she immediately thought of Henry Porter-Potty. Oh well. That is not going to work for us. Gotta love family who are willing to tear apart names for create mean nick names. It really helps narrow the list and prevent unseemly childhood teasing.

I am so tired tonight. I left my house at 6:15 this morning and got home at 8:00 tonight. We had a major meeting and then even afterwards at work. I found out though that one of my coworkers is pg and due a week after me. The cool part is that we both commute from the same area, about 50 miles from the office. it is nice to have a pg buddy in real life.

ieducate - congratulations on Team Pink!

MommyinPA - Great guesses! I fluctuate back and forth whether I think I'm having a girl or a boy. Last week I thought it was a boy and this week I think I might be having a girl. Ask me again next week and you'll probably get a new answer. Oh and I keep meaning to ask you - do you use MSIE or Firefox at home? A change of browser might allow you to post from home.

Nanner - I looove the name Hannah and think Hannah H. is just fine!

ladybug0525 - Elijah/Eli is on our short-list as well. I doubt it will make it to the top 3 for us but i really like it a LOT. Don't worry about naming him Eli E.

Here's the thing: YOU are the one who is going to be saying this name every day for the rest of your life. If it's the name you really truly love, forget how trendy it is or how popular it is or how many other people are doing that or what your last name starts with ('course, I would probably object to Robert Roberts even if Robert was your faaavorite ;)). Name your baby what YOU want to name your baby, and forget about everything else. :)

The only bad part about being on Team Green is that I get to fret over names of BOTH genders rather than just one. I love all of the names on our girls' list, but I'm having a terrible time with boys names. There are 7 left on our list (the goal is to get it to 3 by the time the baby gets here) and the one I like best is really, really popular. For a long time I struggled with naming the kid the same name that lots of other kids might have but then I decided what I said above: Screw what everybody else is doing! I'm the one who's going to be saying it to other people, shouting it on the playground, cooing it, combining it with a middle name in an angry tone :p -- I better love whatever it is!

I told my principal today when I am probably being induced. She was surprised, I think, and not too happy. She is having a baby in december but only taking two weeks off. I am trying hard not to feel like I should change my mind. I'm planning to be off from Feb- May and come back for the last two weeks of school.

Congrats to everyone who's finding out!!

I forget who likes the name Hannah, but I think it would be fine with a last name that starts with H. Hannah ends more with the "uh" sound than the "h" sound.

MommyinPA and ideucate- Congrats on the girl!

Nanner - Unless your last name starts with an 'Hu', I think it would be just fine. The 'uh' in hannah plus a last name starting with that is too much for me.

Nursing bras - I love night nursing bras because they're no clips to mess with, and ditto the tanks. I hated having my stomach showing, even moreso than my boobs.

Okay, just for fun.....anyone want to make a few predictions?! Here are my guesses for the rest of the ladies. don't worry if you don't like my guess. I am wrong, A LOT!

Well, at least you're consistent, because you had me down for boy, but mods you can add me to Team Pink!!!! I'm still in total shock. I thought for sure it would be a boy. No reason really, but I had it really stuck in my head that it was a boy and really didn't cross my mind that it even could be a girl. So much so that when she gave us the first good shot of identifying her, I was confused as to why I couldn't see the parts until the tech announced it was a girl. Um yeah, now I feel like a total ditz. Dh and I could have cared less boy or girl, so we are very excited.

Updated to here!

MarriedaGoalie....can you check your appts on the front page. I took off the Nov 20th one since you said you had to postpone your US, added the Dec 12th one that you last mentioned but there's also a Dec 18th appt listed. I wasn't sure if this was still the case.

We're now at:
6 Baby Boys
11 Baby Girls (counting two for Brink)
9 Surprise Babies (counting two for Tandis)
7 Babies in waiting

MommyinPA...I think I'm having a girl too. I had no feelings one way or the other and I've switched in my mind about 40 times what I wanted. But this last week I've been getting girl vibes.

Names...being on Team Green we've been thinking about boys and girls names. Our issue is that he likes mine and I like his, but his fav isn't my fav and vice versa. We haven't discussed it lately but I think when we do we'll end up with my fav girl name and his fav boy name. The boy middle name is a given for us, and if it's a girl I thought I had it picked out but I've possibly changed my mind. I think it'll all be last minute decisions.

BEER....I finally bought some O'Douls tonight! Seems whenever DH has cracked open a cold one these last few weeks it's like a beer commercial. The condensation running down the can looking so cool and refreshing. I HAD to have one.

Your DH thinks of Eli as Redneck?? The only Elis I know are from NYC!! What year did he graduate? One of them is a grad! His full name was Elias and he was Syrian!!

MommyinPA...Not all of us are on it by choice but thanks for thanking we have patience! I have an appt next week and I am going to try to convince the Dr to put me on the office U/S machine. I am just impatient!! Also DH won't look at names until we know because he thinks it won't take long- Bah ha ha!! Several people have told me I am having a girl. I have had 2 dreams with the gender and it was a boy? Nots sure what I want!

Shimmerstar- Don't you hate that everyone expects you to take the same time as them. I am required to take 6 weeks but am taking 9. My office mate thinks I am just horrible and why aren't you coming back early becasue she is! Of course it is her 2nd and her mother lives with her so she has a built in Nanny. Do what you want to do!! You have to live with it!

Weight gain
Oh my- I have eaten a lot of crap for 2 weeks. I got on the scale. WOW I had a huge increase!! I went from 11lbs to 17 lbs in 2 weeks. I am hoping some was water weight! YIKES

Peewee, I have gained a ton of weight the past few weeks too. I'm not sure how much, but I know it's a lot.

And I agree that Eli isn't a rednecky name. When I lived in Oregon I knew three Elis, so I always thought of it as a hippy name.

Woohoo! The Girls are pulling ahead:) Congrats to Kanga and MommyinPA! And I'm sorry if I missed anyone else!

I had my peri appt yesterday to check my cervix. Everything looks good. The baby was wiggling all around and the tech announced "you've got a very active little girl in there" It took them a few mins to get her hr because she was moving so much! I go back on November 30 for my last cervix check and a growth scan!

I feel like this PG is flying by. We need to get going on this little girls room! I'm headed to Gymboree this morning to use my coupon and hopefully get some cute pink outfits;) Hope everyone has a great day!

ieducate & kanga congrats ladies

Boy/Girl my team is losing right now.......:( hahaha.

peewee yeah he does, I didnt think it was either, he *was* a real redkneck too I've kinda changed that with my city styles and attitudes....but hes '02 so his dykes class was '99.

shimmerstar yeah another count that its not.....men they dont always know what they are talking about!! My boss, who is only 21, yeah lucky me (but no suprise shes the CEO's daughter and everyone in this company that is in a high spot is family) anyways was telling me that I could have the baby and as soon as I was released come back to work, I laughed at her, heck I may not even come back since shes now my boss.....shes so clueless though, she'll ask me the stupidest questions, for instance, does your body change.......ugh no, come on now!! But dont give in for feel the pressure, its your decision!

kindermom I have a feeling that one night I'll probably wake up and be the size of a house and kicking myself in the butt for complaining. HAHA

Last night my highchair came in and we took it out and played with it, OMG I think I made the best purchase I LOVE that thing, its awesome and for sure worth the price!! Yeah I know soon for a HC but we are trying to get everything we can get for the year, so were not running out and are prepared, but it reclines enough I can lay baby in it if I'm working in the kitchen too....or something, I'm sure we will get the fair amount of use out of it.

We are firmly on team greentoo!!

Congratulations Whit & Kanga!!!

Names ~ I love the names Eli and Hannah. As long as they sound good together, I don't think it is a problem if the first and last names both start with the same letter. A lot of the names we like for boys start with a C and our last name starts with a K ~ not the same letter, but the exact same sound.

Okay, here are my gender predictions....Let me know if I missed anyone
Janey: boy
Littlemia: girl
Tandis: one of each
Orion: boy
Lady1297: girl
Happy1nuv: girl
PeeWee : boy
Miaclear: girl
Marriedagoalie: boy

Beer ~ I must go to a really conservative practice. The midwife I asked only ok'd a few sips of something (like if dh was having a beer or wine) and only 1/2 of an O'douls for myself! Like anyone is going to split an O'douls with me!! Our anniversary is coming up this month, and I was thinking maybe I would have just a tiny bit of wine, but who knows...

Crying ~ I will be nothing less than amazed if I get through today without bursting into tears! I started my workday at 7am yesterday and didn't get done until midnight. Today started at 9 and I don't expect to be done until about midnight again :(

names- Someone once told me when you pick a name, go out on your front porch and yell it (all parts!) as loud as you can and see if you like it. You'll be using it that way a LOT in the next 20 years, so you'd better like how it sounds. :) And I like Eli. Although I always thought of it as either a Jewish or Amish name (ie. biblical). Funny how conotations are all different!

Golden-Have fun at gymbo! They have Cute girl stuff!!

Crying-ugh. Don't get me started! Everything either makes me cry or mad (which is my way of not crying).

Time off- I agonized about this with my job before having ds. Ended up with me just quitting to be a SAHM, but it took the whole pregnancy to get the guts to do what worked for us. And you know what? It went so much better than I thought. They were all so supportive once I made up my mind. It was nice.So I suggest you each decide what you want and confidently tell whomever and they will probably just pat you on the back and say "good for you". And if they don't, come here and we will!

happy1nuv
11-10-2006, 11:04 AM
Yeah... I fretted about telling my boss that after Nic I wanted 6 months off... esp because we were short staffed at the time. He was SOOOO supportive, and promised to totally help me work something out. So,, they might suprise you. (I ended up working for 3 months, and then quitting. I was so NOT the same employee I was before I had NIc... and didn't want to be there.)

Crying~ I forgot to share my funny crying story from the other day I think... (take that as yeah...ALL.THE.TIME).... But, every year dh and I buy each other an ornament for the Christmas tree. So, I'm looking at ornaments and I see (and, as I type I'm tearing up...UGH)... an ornament of santa claus with a little boy and a smaller little girl at his knees... I totally lost it. (Now, keep in mind that I don't know if we're having a boy or girl yet, but just seeing that ornament made me lose it). I had to buy a blue sequin diaper pin ornament too, just in case baby is a boy. But, there i was at Marshalls in the Christmas aisle, balling because I just SAW an ornament...

names ~ I agree on the yelling the full name out loud thing. You WILL be doing that more than you think...

:)

Hannah - I agree that I don't think there is anything wrong with both the first and last starting with the same letter- as long as it sounds okay, and doesn't rhyme.

Crying - I really haven't cried too much - it's just more like I'm constantly pissy because I'm always tired. :)

Gender predictions - Thanks to those ladies who think I'm having one of each :D I hope so too.

Girls - Congrats to those ladies who've found out they're having girls!

Team Green - I am firmly on Team Green until the end - mainly because I know that if I were to find out, I would have to tell everyone, and I want stuff for my shower - not clothes ;) DH OTOH, since he's already found out Arnie, he really wants to find out Bert as well. Amazingly enough, he's doing a really good job of keeping it a secret from me. I think he's just enjoying himself too much ;)

Time off - How can someone *only* take two weeks off after their baby is born?! You haven't even properly bonded yet! I'm planning on taking four months, but am flirting with the idea of coming back sooner and only working PT so I can extend my leave. But I'll make that decision after the kids are here.

Whit - What kind of HC did you buy? Can you post a pic?

Nursing bras - I'll probably end up going out and buying these sooner, rather than later, because right now I only have one bra that really fits - and it's on its last hook. Thanks ladies, for the size recommendations.

Trying to catch up...

Congrats to ... everyone who found out what they were having. Wow - team pink is taking over! That's okay, more for our boys to choose from ;)

Weight gain - I weighed myself a few days ago and my total gain so far is 18 lbs. Before my last OB visit (Oct. 10) I was 114 - so not bad for almost a month. Both my docs said to use my scale to calculate my gain since their scales rarely get calabrated and I am fully clothed when I weigh at their offices.

Names - we actually came up with a name the first night we knew he was a boy. Just to be safe, we came up with 4-5 other names and we'll decide when he's born. Well, I keep saying *we* will decide at birth, but last week DH bought the letters to spell the name in the nursery!

Time off... Ihave my own business which I will take time off of til June (it's busiest during wedding season so it works out perfectly) but I also work 2-3 day/week in a dr.'s office and I will probably take 8-12 weeks off from that job.

Beer - oh, how I crave beer! I have to admit though, when I am out to dinner with friends or DH, I will take a sip here and there. It has to be ICE cold though or just not worth it. In particular, I crave Japanese beer so O'Douls doesn't cut it :(

Congrats on the girl deelcie, mommyinpa, ieducate & kanga and the boy shimmerstar!!!!

Sorry for the drive by, but I just got back from CA and it looks like next week isn't going to be any easier. I have to fly to New Orleans just to get home for about 18 hours and fly to New Hampshire!! Oh the joys of last minute travelling as flying prego is never much fun. The baby doesn't seem to mind, but my feet sure suffered from the 4-1/2 hour flight.

As always be safe girls and I will try and check in if I get a chance!!

This thread moves so fast. I've been trying to write all week from work but I haven't had time.

Wow, 4 girls this week! Congrats MommyinPA, Ieducate, Kanga, and Deelcie!

I'm staying on Team Green. It's pretty cool that there are so many Greenies in this thread because I can only think of one couple I know IRL who didn't find out. Before I got pregnant I always said I wouldn't find out but I thought it would be easier said than done when I actually got pregnant but I'm finding it to be pretty fun not to know. I like hearing all of the predictions and trying to figure out using old wives tales. MommyinPA and MrsKinnison, thanks for your predictions. My MIL thinks the baby's a boy but my mom refers to the baby as she. DH and I are divided, I'm leaning more towards boy because his dad and his brother both have two boys and he's leaning more towards girl because he thinks he destined to be outnumbered since our dog's a girl, too.

Glad to hear everyone's doing well so far. Brink- glad to hear of another good report. You're getting really close to going in the hospital. I wish you all the best. Marriedagoalie- that's great news about the quad screen. Ieducate- it's such a relief to hear that everything's going well, isn't it? Are you able to relax some now? I know bad things can still happen but I'm feeling pretty good about everything now. Getting past that first trimester and getting a good u/s report helped tremendously.

Beer- I've been wanting beer since my stomach got better at about 17 weeks. Last night DH brought home a new brand and it looked so good so I tried a sip- then spit it out. I couldn't do it. I know a sip or even half a beer or so won't do any harm but it just felt too weird for me.

Names- I borrowed the Baby Name Wizard book from the library and DH and I are starting to make lists using her lists in the back of the book. Well, I've already made my lists. It's like pulling teeth to get DH to do it. So far we've only had a few names that were on both of our lists. We have to come up with two names- this is going to be difficult.

Taking time off- Shimmerstar, you have to do what is right for you and your family and don't let what others are doing affect you. After all, they aren't living your life. I'm sure people think I'm lazy or weak or whatever because not only am I not coming back to work but I'm leaving at the end of January. And I'm cutting my hours in January (I work two 6 hour shifts on Mondays and it's just too long of a day for me). I know what I can and cannot handle and I have no desire to be stressed out about work when I have more important things to deal with.

Can I complain about maternity clothes for the 4,000 time? I'm having a hard time finding anything that fits that I can afford. The only brand I've found that are okay so far are the Gap demi panel pants. But they're like $50-$60 for a pair of pants and that's a little high for me. You would think that since they're owned by the same company Old Navy would work but nothing there fits at all. I have some slacks with the normal front and elastic back from Motherhood and Target that I haven't worn yet because I need to hem but I think they look funny right now in the butt because there's so much extra fabric there. Ugh. Please tell me this gets easier when I'm ready for maternity shirts.

************************************************** ********
Long vent ahead:

I had my last appointment with my birthing center yesterday. I'm actually kind of glad that I have to find a new provider as I don't think the quality of care I've been given was that high. First of all, they've had to reschedule my last 3 appts. I know emergencies happen, but if they're having to reschedule my monthly appts so often, what would happen when I went to biweekly and weekly appointments? Then during my appt. she didn't even mention my u/s results until I asked about them and then told me everything was fine. I had to remind her that I got a call telling me I had partial placenta previa a couple days after the u/s. So she finally read the report in my chart. Luckily I had already read the report in the bathroom (we check our own urine and weight in there, it wasn't like I was sitting on the pot with my chart :p ) or I would have left not knowing what was really on the report. I chose a midwife practice specifically because I wanted a practitioner who would spend time with me and remember me. Oh and the final thing that irritates me is that the midwife who owns the practice has known for over a year that she wanted to retire. So I would have barely made the cut off for delivering there if my last pregnancy had made it (my due date was today or tomorrow) and still they said nothing then or when I called again for this pregnancy. I'm lucky though that I'm at this stage. I can't imagine what the December and January moms had to go through.

I have an appointment next week to meet with the people at another birthing center. Thankfully, I'm getting a refund from the original birthing center and the office manager at the one I'm visiting said she would give me a deal because I'm having to transfer at this stage. Cross your fingers for me that this place works out.

I decided that I would finally post some belly shots on here. I haven't taken one this week so here is the one from last week. I can't believe that people that know me can't see that I'm pregnant- I see a huge change. Would love to hear any gender predictions.

Just a quick post (sorry, it's been so busy in here lately) to say I got a surprise baby shower today!!

It was at work, and I'm feeling really touched and overwhelmed by the gesture and by the amount of stuff I got. I was trying not to cry some of the time. But it was fun and it totally made my week. :p

DD and I are both home sick today (boo to the flu) so I thought that I would come in a post.

Shimmerstar: Yay for the babyshower. That is so thoughful of your co-workers.

Ok...littlemia got in her vent ;) so I am now going to take my turn. Everyone in here has been talking about beer and wine, etc the last little bit and for some reason this pregnancy I have been dying for a glass of wine. I'm not normally a big drinker when I'm not pregnant and I didn't miss it until recently. But seriously...when you think about it, I've been pregnant for about two years with only a five month break in between. I'm tired, I miss my old body, I just feel like a fat slob because my body has changed so much since having DD #1 and becoming pregnant with #2 and I am positive that after having and nursing this next baby that my boobs are going to drag on the floor. When do I get to be me again? Will I ever feel like a sexy woman again or am I just a 'breeder' as one stranger called me after I told him that I have a baby and I'm pregnant again (trust me...it took all my strength not to pop him in the nose after that comment). Don't get me wrong because the best thing that has ever happened to me was having children with my DH. I have known that I have always wanted to be a Mom since I was a child myself and I feel that I am a great Mom to my daughter and I can't wait to have another baby around the house. But I'm just so tired of feeling like my body is not my own. I felt that way towards the end of my pregnancy with my DD and thought it would get better after birth but nope...after birth your body become something for everyone to view if you BF! I would be alright if I knew that someday I will have a body that I am comfortable with and in.

My vent is over and boy do I feel better! DH doesn't understand why I like to come to this web site and post but having other woman who are going through similar experiences as myself helps. I apologize for the rambling vent but the combination of lack of sleep, being overworked and having a DH, a baby, myself and even my poor dog, all sick has come to this! :o

Thanks for the input on Hannah, everyone. I've posted the same question to others, and everyone agrees that it sounds fine. So it looks like we may be going with Hannah Jeanne. It's not in stone, but it's the front runner.

As for Eli, definitely not redneck! I've only heard it as short for Elijah, which is Hebrew. I love Eli. It was actually on our list for middle names if we had a boy.

shimmerstar: SO cool that you got a surprise shower! How nice of them. Hope you got some good stuff!

littlemia, re: Team Green: For our first baby, I had every intention of finding out the sex, but DH was adamant that he didn't want to know. So I gave in, and decided to wait. I thought it would be so hard, especially at the ultrasound. But by that time, I had gotten so used to not knowing, I had no desire to find out when the u/s rolled around. I enjoyed finding out right when he was born--it was really exciting, in the midst of all of the emotions.

Hi everyone- I'm back from Spain! We had a great time, but man did my ankles pay the price! Actually DH told me that I am no longer authorized to call them ankles since they are really and truely cankles at this point:p I'm hoping now that I'm home and not constantly riding in cramped airplanes, buses, and cars, and I can stay hydrated more easily, that the swelling will go down. We'll see though.

Baby is really getting active now! On all of our plane/bus rides, we would just sit and watch my belly for kicks and punches. It was so funny! DH is getting REALLY excited now that my belly is getting big and we can see and feel the baby kicking. Baby is pretty much all he talks about now:D

Going back, I also thought that the 3rd trimester started at week 25. I'm kind of glad to hear that most of you are saying 28 though- that gives me some more time! I'm still feeling really comfortable and was actually just telling DH that I'd like to keep the 23 week timeframe in mind in the future for being a good time to travel while pregnant.

Re: names- I'm kind of against the first and last name starting with the same letter for our baby, but maybe that's because DH's last name starts with a B and I just don't really dig the BB combo. I don't think HH would be as big of a deal though. It's actually a good part of the reason I didn't change my name when we got married:o I also wouldn't name our baby with anything that ends in a B or has a B in the last syllable- I find that hard to say. My SIL's first name is Debra and I always wondered what my ILs were thinking when they named her because it feels like you're tripping over the B's in her first and last names.

I'm so with everyone on the alcohol cravings! It really only comes up when we go out to a nice dinner or a party or something, but I've been good so far. I did have one non-alcoholic glass of wine way back in the first trimester, but it wasn't that great and I haven't had anymore.

There, I think I've caught up!

betsyboop - Welcome back to the US.
littlemia - No guesses because you are so tiny. I can understand feeling huge because you started off really tiny but you have less of a bump than I did BEFORE I got pg this time. ;)

Alcohol cravings - I love my OB practice. They are totally cool with drinking if you are pg as long as you take care and do not go overboard (i.e., more than a glass a few days a week). Their take on it is that there is no evidence that a glass of wine a day is harmful to the baby. Since the beginning of the 2nd trimester I have had about 1 glasses of red wine a week in about 1/2 to 1 glass increments. Now when I was at a conference and recently at a big meeting I was craving it but I do not drink in public. I will not have anything in the first trimester and try to stick to red wines.

Geez Louise..I have a ton of catch up to do. Sorry if I miss anyone!

Congrats Kanga and IEducate on your GIRLS! Thanks for proving me wrong...twice! I told you I was wrong a lot. ;)

Whitlockan: I forgot to tell you last week......I just got my Peg Perego Toffee Cube Highchair last week too! Great minds think alike! My Caden loves it. Your little boy will love it too! :)

Betsyboop: Welcome back. I am so jealous you went to Spain!

Janey: We were having such a hard time with boys names this time so jumping off Team Green helped us. But you are awesome for not buckling!

Danalou: Have a safe trip! We'll be in MA this weekend.

Mrs. K: Thanks for playing my prediction game. You have some good guesses there!

Orion: Vent away! Personally, I have never enjoyed being pregnant!

Nanner: Hannah is a great name. I like Hannah Jeanne! :)

Ladybug: Eli is an adorable name!

Shimmerstar: Awww, that rocks about the surprise shower. Thats so sweet!

Littlemia: You are so tiny....god I am jealous! :)

Marriedagoalie: Halfway! Woo Hoo!

Me: I think Kaia has gotton the semi official nod and blessing as our little lady's name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hubby likes Kaia Michaela...as both our boys have the middle name Michael after his deceased father. I had other middle names I liked better, but Kaia was my pick so I am fine with him having a choice with the name too :)

I have been having the WORST cravings for hot dogs... but, my diet is sooo sh1tty this pg that i REFUSE to eat them. I did cave and buy a package of soy dogs though (not that much better, but every little bit counts at this point...) They are sooooo goood!! (And, I've tried them before and not liked them, so I'm totally blaming that on this baby!)

And...time is soooo slowing down on me. I know it's because I'm so impatient for the big u/s on Wed...but really...

Orion: I completely commisserate with you on your body not being your own. I actually just had an LJ entry on that last week, I think. My first pregnancy was a little different, since everything was so new, learning what was happening inside of me and feeling all of these new feelings. I had some moments when I was sick of not having my body to myself, but for the most part, I did well. This time...I have learned that I do not do well with pregnancy. Part of me feels guilty for feeling that way, since so many women yearn to be in our places. But I can't help the way I feel. And I have a lot of the same thoughts as you, wondering about when I'll feel like a sexy woman again, free in her own body. I'm sure having two children so close together is part of it (which is the case for you, too). Just when I was starting to feel normal again, Whoops! Here we go again! And as excited as I am to be having another child, and to challenge myself as a mother, and to be in love with another human being, I just want to feel like me again.

I've never been called tiny before :). I've grown a bunch since then, though. I'm waiting to see if some of it's bloat and it will go back down but I don't think so.

Marriedagoalie- congrats for halfway! It's such a milestone isn't it?

Orion- hope you're feeling better. Feel free to vent, you know I have no problem with it ;). I can't relate fully to what you're saying since this is my first but one of my fears about breastfeeding is that I will want my body to myself.

Betsyboop- glad you had a great time in Spain. I would really like to visit there. Hopefully the swelling will go down soon. The last time I took an international trip my legs swelled horribly on the way home and I wasn't even pregnant. That's one of the reasons that I chose a non-stop within the US trip for our babymoon. Well that and we're not made of money and could never get the time off of work to go anywhere far away. I agree that around 20 weeks give or take a few weeks is the best time to travel.

Names, revisited- DH finally finished his list from the Baby Name Wizard book and yikes we have some work to do. I think we had about 5 girls and 8 boys names in common. We probably had about 20-30 for each gender on our own lists. I thought we would have a hard time coming up with a boys name because there's none that I really love but our boys name list is okay. There's only one name on our girls list that I really like. The others are just meh. I'm so jealous of you ladies who already have names picked out.

Question- I received an invitation to an informal cookie exchange party given by an acquaintance (our MILs are good friends so I go some of the events she hosts when my MIL is invited). I've heard that her and her husband are going through infertility. Should I decline?

Littlemia - I would say go. By this point, she probably already knows you're pregnant, so she knows what to expect. And if she doesn't know? Well, from that last picture you posted, you don't look that big, so she might not even notice. After two+ years of dealing with IF, I became very adept at dealing with pregnant women in person, even if I broke down to DH afterwards. Just take a cue from her on how much to talk about it - don't gush and make that the sole subject all night long - and, speaking as an IF woman, don't mention how easy it was to get pregnant (not saying that it was easy for you, but that was something that it seemed like I heard all the time, and nothing drove me insane faster than to hear people say "It was our first time trying! Getting pregnant is so easy") :)

Warning - Way TMI Question - is anyone else's vaginal area completely swollen? I think I remember some swelling toward the end of my last pg, but this is ridiculous. I know some women are just "bigger" down there, but I'm not usually one of them. Right now when I sit down, it is actually uncomfortable because the labia are so incredibly swollen. I warned you, way too much TMI, but I'm too embarrased to ask anyone IRL.

I had a bunch of stuff to comment on but I can't remember what it all was now, I'm so behind!

Littlemia ~ you look so good! I wish I looked half as good as you. I think I had a bump that size before I got pregnant. ;)

Congrats on the new girls if I haven't said so already! I can't believe how many there are, it always seems like there are more boys!

hot dogs ~ I think I have found my true craving for this pregnancy. I hadn't had any in a long time and some friends of ours brought some for us to eat on Halloween and I was in heaven. I bought a package and had one every day last week. I only have two left and don't think I'll buy any more, at least I'll try not to!

alcohol ~ I've actually been doing much better now than I was in the first trimester and early second. It was really hard in the first tri because I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was 7 or 8 weeks and I drank up until then since I really wasn't expecting it. oops. We are usually big wine drinkers (well, maybe a bottle once or twice a week) and I just couldn't resist when DH would open up a bottle so I had a half glass every few days for a while. I haven't had any for a few weeks now and of my 6-pack of nonalcoholic beer I bought in September I still have 1 bottle left so I'm not doing too bad now. However we leave for NYC next week so I might have to splurge. It's hard to drink in pubic though. Dh doesn't even like me to drink na beer in public.

Brink ~ there's no such thing as tmi on these boards, especially when you're pregnant! I honestly don't know though. I would say I'm more swollen but not to the point where it's uncomfortable. Maybe it's because you're carrying two? Hopefully someone else will have more info for you. :o

Tandis I got the Peg diner in toffee...I posted a pic of it oh probably about 10 pages back by now.

MommyinPA thanks, I'm super excited about it.....I LOVE IT!!

Happy oh no, am I not suppose to eat hot dogs, I've at so many of them, I just love them thats one thing I could never stop even way before I got pregnant.

Marreid doesnt it feel great!!

Littlemia oh my gosh, I'm HUGE compared to you and peopel think I'm small........gosh your super small!! I would go, and leaving it at that.

Brink okay this is funny to me, because I look down all the time and I'm like man I dont remember being that big, and gosh its not just me, I think its safe to say I'm swallon, nothing uncomfortable but its def. a nice package down there now.....HAHAHA

littlemia-go. Have fun.

Brink- I think things are starting to swell a bit, down there. DH seemed to think so this weekend during "adult time". He did notice a difference during the last pregancy, but not as soon. He figures it's second timer's benefits. :)

hotdogs- yeah, never my thing, even during pregnancy. My cravings are for carbs, especially cinamon/sugar toast. Gotta love it.

MarriedaGoalie- Wow, that's a big difference in 2 weeks!

I just wanted drop by and post a picture from our trip where you can see how big I am:p

http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g56/bugs1234_2006/DSC_0091.jpg

And here's a picture of my cankles, though I'm happy to report that the swelling in gone already and I'm back to normal.:

However, I happened to accidentally click on the wrong folder when I was looking for the Spain pictures and saw the pictures from our trip to Peru a little over a year ago. I'm totally depressed by how much fatter I look now:( Look at how much thinner my face used to be:

Betsey - You look AWESOME! What great pictures. :D I'm so glad you had a great time on your trip!

Re: Fatface - I'm with you on the fatface phenomenon (though I personally think your face looks pretty darned good!). They asked us to check in with 2 wedding pictures in the February thread, and when I posted those (note: I felt totally fat at my wedding) I realized I looked pretty decent then, I am now a total whale. :/ I also have cankles, and peel my socks off my feet at the end of the day to find big dents in them. I'm hoping that means that a lot of this whaleness is actually not fat that I've gained but water I'm holding onto and will lose after the baby gets here. A girl can hope, right? :o

littlemia - I would go, but I would probably try to go as "incognito" as possible - don't bring up the pregnancy unless she does, etc. Also - I'm glad you're getting a refund and I'll be keeping my fingers for you on this new birth center!

Names - This last weekend we got our list of names down to the top 3 contenders for girls and top 3 for boys. :D I'm soooo glad we have it done! I even have three middle names for our girls, but the boys I am not quite sure about yet.

Well ladies, I think you can safely add me to the list of high risk pregnancies now.....I have some disappointing news to report.

A few minutes ago my doctor called and after fully reading my comphrehensive U/S I'm having some problems with my umbillical cord, meaning its suppose to have 3 vessles, mine only has 2 which most of the time can result in abnormalities with the baby as well. I'm being sent to a specialist for a VERY detailed sonogram to see if any abnormalities on the baby have developed, if so what and for a better understanding of my cord. At this time I just ask everyone to keep us in your thoughts and prayers, and hope for nothing but the best.

I will sit here and remember, God only gives us what he knows we can handle.....regardless of my baby having abnormal
